- 0:12SPEAKER_01: You got yourself a TSL yet?
- 0:18SPEAKER_01: Not for you, man.
- 0:19SPEAKER_01: Not for you.
- 0:23SPEAKER_01: Love a good latte.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: Something I know about you.
- 0:31SPEAKER_01: Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mike Blitz.
- 0:32SPEAKER_01: Mike host over there sipping some fine drink in that little teacup of yours.
- 0:36SPEAKER_01: My co-host over there, Mike White.
- 0:37SPEAKER_01: What's up, dude?
- 0:39SPEAKER_01: How's it going, man?
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: Doing well.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: Uh Tuesday?
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: Tuesday.
- 0:42SPEAKER_01: I get, you know, we we usually get away from that segment, but I gotta ask, because that teacup is so pretty.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: What are you drinking right now, Mike?
- 0:49SPEAKER_02: Uh, this is just the black coffee, my friend.
- 0:52SPEAKER_02: And it's if for the listeners at home, it's in a giant bowl of a coffee cup.
- 0:59SPEAKER_01: Herbal tea, maybe a little green tea.
- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Give you a pep in the afternoon.
- 1:03SPEAKER_01: I did I need it.
- 1:04SPEAKER_02: I needed a little pep.
- 1:05SPEAKER_02: I was getting a little sleepy there.
- 1:06SPEAKER_02: A little jolt.
- 1:07SPEAKER_02: Early jolts.
- 1:08SPEAKER_01: I'm drinking a sparkling water from Trader Joe's.
- 1:11SPEAKER_01: Uh, it's like their kind of knockoff version of like Waterloo, uh, polars, whatever.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: You know, it's okay.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: Gross.
- 1:16SPEAKER_01: It's pretty gross.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna lie to you.
- 1:18SPEAKER_01: Uh so anyway, yeah, we are gonna talk about week eight, all the things.
- 1:20SPEAKER_01: Before we do that, as always, we start with our check-in.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: This is the last time we spoke, which was a week ago.
- 1:25SPEAKER_01: How was your week?
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: How was your weekend?
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: What's new with you, brother?
- 1:29SPEAKER_02: Um, not a whole lot new.
- 1:31SPEAKER_02: I will say, you know, I love this time of year.
- 1:34SPEAKER_02: It's finally cool, it feels good outside.
- 1:38SPEAKER_02: Uh, we got all of our spooky decorations up, which I love.
- 1:41SPEAKER_02: We've got fallout this year.
- 1:43SPEAKER_02: Loving it.
- 1:44SPEAKER_02: Sykes for psyches for the Halloween season.
- 1:46SPEAKER_02: How about you?
- 1:46SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, my wife went away on her annual girls' trip uh to Harper's Ferry with all of her Shroy sisters.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: So I was alone with all three kids.
- 1:54SPEAKER_01: So it was like pretty much pandemonium all the time.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: So it wasn't that relaxing and fun.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: I didn't have a time to sit back and drink any um pipe pumpkin spice latte or coffees or anything.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Um, it's pretty much putting out fires the whole time, but whatever we made it through.
- 2:07SPEAKER_01: Um, unless you got a win, when my kids were asleep, was that that seems the one that was the one accomplishment I had all weekend.
- 2:11SPEAKER_01: Was I actually was able to I was able to watch that game in peace without my kids screaming at me.
- 2:16SPEAKER_02: You're so lucky it wasn't like a 3:30 game.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I wouldn't watch it, I would have had it in my earpiece in, it wouldn't have worked.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: Um, so that was like literally the only thing I really wanted to accomplish was like get the kids down in time to watch the game, and I did.
- 2:28SPEAKER_02: So I feel really let me ask you this, please.
- 2:30SPEAKER_02: What did what were the meals for the weekend?
- 2:32SPEAKER_02: We'll walk you through that journey.
- 2:34SPEAKER_02: Pizza, pizza, hot dogs.
- 2:36SPEAKER_01: I'm not gonna say I'm I'm not gonna tell you exactly what it is, but I will say I'm proud that we only got carry out twice.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: Uh the seven meals that my wife missed.
- 2:44SPEAKER_01: We only ordered out twice.
- 2:45SPEAKER_01: I feel okay about that.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: So good for you.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: Good for me, I guess.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: Anyway, uh, very cool.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: So, like we do, like we do on this show, we'd like to look back at the uh last week and kind of see what we happened.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: You already know the results.
- 2:57SPEAKER_01: Mike and I are gonna kind of offer our thoughts like what we saw, what happened, that type of thing.
- 3:01SPEAKER_01: So let's go ahead and get into the autopsy of week seven.
- 3:12SPEAKER_01: So I'm gonna start with the right at the top.
- 3:14SPEAKER_01: Um, we're at that time of year, we're talking about Heisman trophies.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: Uh, Ash and Genty is almost doubling the statistics of the last three Heisman winners going back 20 years.
- 3:23SPEAKER_01: Mark Ingram, Travis Henry, and uh Reggie Bush.
- 3:27SPEAKER_01: Why isn't he a slam dunk favorite to win the Heisman right now?
- 3:31SPEAKER_01: Media bias.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: Go on, say more things.
- 3:35SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I think the only reason is because he's at Boise State.
- 3:39SPEAKER_02: I think if he were playing at any, you know, power for team, if any any big conference team right now, he he would be the talk.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: Every every you couldn't you couldn't turn on the TV without hearing about him.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: I can't reconcile the fact that of the three years when we had three Heisman running backs, and even though two of them were Alabama running backs, they didn't want them to win, they were the best player in the country those years.
- 4:02SPEAKER_01: Reggie Bush, uh Mark Ingram, Travis Henry.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Ash and Gente is like doubling their numbers.
- 4:07SPEAKER_01: Like it is insane.
- 4:09SPEAKER_01: He is he is on.
- 4:10SPEAKER_01: I mean, he's gonna get sat down at halftime for a lot of games, especially when there's big blowouts and Mount West competition.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: He's on pace for like$2,800, actually eclipsing Barry Sanders' insane Oklahoma State 1988 record, whatever it is.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Like it's nuts that he's there.
- 4:24SPEAKER_01: The only person, the only opinion I'll humor would be Travis Henry, because like Ash and Genty, he is the other guy doing Shohei Otani type unprecedented thing to play both sides of the ball to execute at such a high level.
- 4:39SPEAKER_01: We haven't seen that since like World War II.
- 4:42SPEAKER_01: Like it's insane to have somebody on the field doing that.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, here's my here's here is the hill that I'm gonna die on, right?
- 4:50SPEAKER_01: That I'm willing to die on swing today.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: If barring injury, if one of those two guys doesn't win the Heisman, I'm writing off the award forever is trash.
- 4:57SPEAKER_01: And that includes my team winning two of them in the last five years.
- 5:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I've already done that.
- 5:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:02SPEAKER_01: Well, what was the award?
- 5:03SPEAKER_01: We know the award's trash.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: It's like it's this is you know, maybe maybe you're right.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: You were being too optimistic, but this feels like a moment when we have two players doing just wildly unprecedented things.
- 5:14SPEAKER_01: If it goes back to like the quarterback on the contender, like I'm just I'm done, I'm done.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: It's stupid, cancel it.
- 5:21SPEAKER_02: It it it very likely will.
- 5:23SPEAKER_02: Um, but we already know that the award is trash.
- 5:27SPEAKER_02: Let me ask you this question, please.
- 5:29SPEAKER_02: Ashin Genty, first in the NCAA right now in rushing yards.
- 5:33SPEAKER_02: Who is fourth?
- 5:34SPEAKER_02: Just take a guess.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: Fourth in terms of like rushing yards in rushing yards.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 5:46SPEAKER_02: Is four.
- 5:48SPEAKER_01: He really is amazing.
- 5:49SPEAKER_01: He has that low center of gravity.
- 5:50SPEAKER_01: He's got that like Ray Rice, Maurice Jones drew like bowling ball, like bouncing off a hits type player.
- 5:56SPEAKER_01: That doesn't surprise me.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, one, I mean, it helps that like again, relative competition.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Like, Oregon was not great tackling, they got a lot better.
- 6:02SPEAKER_01: We can talk about that later in the show the Ohio State game and Mountain West competition, but like he bounces off everything.
- 6:07SPEAKER_01: His highlight reel on YouTube is just good watching, it's just fun.
- 6:10SPEAKER_01: Like, he's just an entertaining player to watch.
- 6:13SPEAKER_01: That's an that's an incredible.
- 6:14SPEAKER_01: That is a fun fact.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: That is very fun fact.
- 6:16SPEAKER_01: I like that a lot.
- 6:17SPEAKER_01: All right, that's enough Heisman talk.
- 6:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, other thing we're gonna talk about today, we're going to introduce you to our bracketology 1.0.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: This is the Mike Blitz official bracketology.
- 6:26SPEAKER_01: This is our first version.
- 6:27SPEAKER_01: We're gonna edit it again, probably mid-November.
- 6:29SPEAKER_01: We'll do it again in December, kind of give you our guesses.
- 6:32SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, obviously, this is a big year for college football.
- 6:34SPEAKER_01: This is the first year of the 12 team playoff, which is getting really taking up so much air in the room.
- 6:38SPEAKER_01: People want to know, are you in?
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: Are you out?
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: And we're looking at October games, a lot of games this coming week, kind of as elimination games for a lot of teams, you know, not necessarily for sure, but really makes really puts you behind the eight ball.
- 6:50SPEAKER_01: So, first uh shot at it, and I welcome Mike, whom I'm missing, which pick is stupid.
- 6:56SPEAKER_01: Um, no way that's gonna happen.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: Whatever you got.
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: So we'll start with the four teams that are gonna get a bye.
- 7:01SPEAKER_01: Georgia one, Oregon two, Clemson three, Kansas State four.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: Do you hate any of those?
- 7:09SPEAKER_02: No, I don't hate any of those.
- 7:11SPEAKER_02: Um I think I think as far as you know, when you're when you're thinking about those teams, you're thinking about conference champions.
- 7:18SPEAKER_02: Um, and so yeah, you've got a couple that could probably go either way.
- 7:21SPEAKER_02: Um when you're thinking about that top group, um, I think you're gonna have a lot of teams with two losses this year.
- 7:28SPEAKER_02: Uh, we've already seen so much chaos that uh I think you're probably only gonna have uh maybe two or three teams with with you know zero or one loss.
- 7:39SPEAKER_02: So yeah, sounds good to me.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: Uh the five seed, Texas, as the SEC runners up.
- 7:45SPEAKER_01: They are hosting number 12, the G5 champion, JMU.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: You know, I had to get a Virginia school in there somehow.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: Good luck, Duke Dogs in Austin.
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: Could be a tough game, I believe in you guys.
- 7:54SPEAKER_01: Number eight, Tennessee, hosting number nine, Notre Dame, would be an absolutely historic matchup.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: I love that a lot.
- 8:01SPEAKER_01: Uh number six, Ohio State, hosting my beloved LSU Tigers.
- 8:06SPEAKER_01: Those Bayou boys going to Columbus in January.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: Good luck.
- 8:08SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be cold.
- 8:09SPEAKER_01: And then lastly, the Miami Hurricanes in that Caverna Stadium that nobody ever attends, hosting number 10, Penn State.
- 8:15SPEAKER_01: Four SEC teams, three Big Ten teams, two ACC teams.
- 8:20SPEAKER_01: I now think I one point thought it was a one big league.
- 8:22SPEAKER_01: I think actually Clemson uh and Miami get there.
- 8:25SPEAKER_01: The Big 12 champion, your Notre Dame, because you know they're gonna be 11 and 1, 10 and bring it around the table at this point, and then your G5 JMU.
- 8:33SPEAKER_01: What comes out to you about those?
- 8:36SPEAKER_02: Um, I think you know other than it's clearly favoritism for you and I.
- 8:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:40SPEAKER_02: Which I love, which I love.
- 8:41SPEAKER_02: Um, because there are a lot of tough games down the stretch.
- 8:44SPEAKER_02: It it's it's tough to think, you know, thinking about LSU and Tennessee, that means you leave out Bama.
- 8:53SPEAKER_02: Um obviously that means yeah, that means LSU and or Tennessee beats Bama, but we essentially probably have to be.
- 9:00SPEAKER_02: We've done that before.
- 9:01SPEAKER_02: Yeah, a couple years ago.
- 9:03SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 9:04SPEAKER_02: Who might miss?
- 9:05SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think ah Penn State.
- 9:08SPEAKER_01: Penn State, yeah, Penn State.
- 9:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Penn State, they're one of the three.
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: Is there anybody?
- 9:12SPEAKER_01: I mean, like, Iowa State.
- 9:14SPEAKER_01: Iowa State was it is is yeah.
- 9:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, do you think do you agree with me that big the Big 12 is probably a one-bid league?
- 9:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, like, right now K-State is my is for my money the best team, Big 12, but they've got two more undefeated teams in Iowa State and BYU.
- 9:27SPEAKER_01: I just don't think either of those teams are good enough to go the whole way.
- 9:31SPEAKER_01: I don't think.
- 9:32SPEAKER_01: I don't think the Big 12 has the the resume strength of schedule to do it, but I could be wrong.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, give me your is it what what would it take for the is Big 12 a two-team league?
- 9:40SPEAKER_01: One team league.
- 9:41SPEAKER_02: I don't I don't think so, because there's too almost too much parity, and yeah, they're not gonna come away with any of those marquee wins, and so it's gotta just be the automatic qualifier.
- 9:54SPEAKER_01: So and you like Notre Dame getting in.
- 9:58SPEAKER_01: I can't see them, I guess can't see them getting out at this point.
- 10:00SPEAKER_01: I mean, they're gonna beat Florida State, which is not a game.
- 10:01SPEAKER_01: USC is a shell of who they once, but Army Navy, let's go, troops.
- 10:05SPEAKER_02: You know, maybe they can still yeah, it's still assuming that I if they drop one more, they're out.
- 10:10SPEAKER_02: I still think even without dropping one more, they're borderline out because their loss is was so bad.
- 10:17SPEAKER_01: There's no way an 11 and one Notre Dame gets left out.
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: Really?
- 10:21SPEAKER_01: You really think so?
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: I would love to see it.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: That's I mean, so would I put it out in the universe?
- 10:27SPEAKER_01: Wishing it to existing.
- 10:29SPEAKER_01: Uh, any more thoughts on this before we move on?
- 10:31SPEAKER_01: On the on my on on the Mike Blitz uh bracketology 1.0.
- 10:35SPEAKER_02: No, we'll we'll have more to talk about that, especially as things develop.
- 10:38SPEAKER_02: Um, a lot of these are gonna be domino effect type situations.
- 10:42SPEAKER_02: You're gonna come away with teams with two and three losses.
- 10:45SPEAKER_02: There may be a borderline three loss team that we're talking about getting in.
- 10:48SPEAKER_02: So lot to shake out there.
- 10:50SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: All right, moving on.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: Let's get back to next week.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, Tuesday, uh week ago today.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Liberty needs overtime at home to beat FIU 31-24.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: Speaking of playoffs, there is no world where they deserve to be anywhere near a playoff.
- 11:04SPEAKER_01: I am burying them right now.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: They're gonna go 11 and 0 in the conference USA.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: I don't care.
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: 134 strength of schedule.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: Their game against uh AppState got canceled due to uh Hurricane Helene.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: I'm just I'm done with I'm done with Liberty experience.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: I'm over it.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: I'm over it.
- 11:18SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I don't think I don't think nationally that you know that's really on anybody's radar, you know, here in Virginia.
- 11:26SPEAKER_02: Um, we kind of were keeping an eye on them, but yeah, we talked about them early in the season going undefeated, uh, potentially going undefeated and and being potentially left out.
- 11:35SPEAKER_02: And I think that's more of a reality now, midseason, than it was then.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna make a promise, you mike let's listeners, that's gonna be the last time I talk about Liberty until they give me something better to talk about them.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: I am I'm burying them and putting them behind me.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Uh speaking of another Virginia school, worth talking about it.
- 11:48SPEAKER_01: JMU thrashes coastal, uh, big big win.
- 11:52SPEAKER_01: Uh on the ground, they went 42 for 222 yards.
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Alonza Barrett, the quarterback, solid game.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: He's got 13 touchdowns, zero INTs on the year.
- 12:01SPEAKER_01: As you can already already know, I think they're live as a playoff team.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: I mean, really, there is there anybody for you outside of JMU, Army, Navy, Tulane, Boise that you're even considering for the G5 at this point?
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: UNLV, Memphis.
- 12:13SPEAKER_02: I mean, yeah, I was gonna say maybe UNL V.
- 12:16SPEAKER_02: Um, I think, yeah, I think those are the the cream of the crop right now, obviously.
- 12:20SPEAKER_02: Boise State's gotta be there.
- 12:22SPEAKER_02: Um Boise State, what what Boise State did, not to get us too sidetracked, but the more or more we deeper we get into the season, what what they did against Oregon is just even more impressive.
- 12:32SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's they were so close.
- 12:34SPEAKER_02: They should they could they had it.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: If it wasn't for those special teams plays, they would have won.
- 12:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, I don't see that they you know they they got Oregon a great spot, and you know, Oregon fans, Oregon fans probably had some PTSD from nearly uh surviving that one, but they did, they got the win.
- 12:45SPEAKER_01: So moving on.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Friday, uh Ty Helton continues to prove Ty Felton, excuse me, continues to prove while he's a next level wide receiver at Maryland.
- 12:52SPEAKER_01: Too bad everything else about Maryland is terrible.
- 12:54SPEAKER_01: They lost by Northwestern at home.
- 12:56SPEAKER_01: Uh three loss fumbles.
- 12:58SPEAKER_01: Maryland rushed 33 times for 59 yards against the Northwestern front.
- 13:02SPEAKER_01: Uh, lost 37 to 10.
- 13:04SPEAKER_01: Here's the question for Maryland, and this is kind of a more like more bigger question, not really just necessarily about Maryland, but bigger.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: So the Big Ten money coming in is insane.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: Maryland is one of those teams that was built to be the middle of the conference, like they're just where they're supposed to be.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Now they're getting 90 million dollars a year just to show up with the Big Ten logo on their jerseys.
- 13:24SPEAKER_01: Like, what is this gonna do for expectations in Maryland?
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: Maryland just gonna is Maryland gonna be one of those schools in the Big Ten or an SEC?
- 13:30SPEAKER_01: Also, we also have our version of those that are just gonna sit there and be okay being 500 or worse, or like, are we gonna see Maryland getting aggressive?
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: Like, Mike Loxley's been there six years.
- 13:40SPEAKER_01: Tuali tonga la lola is gone.
- 13:43SPEAKER_01: Like, what what are schools like Maryland doing with all of this money and just taking a lot of losses?
- 13:49SPEAKER_02: Expectations for Maryland football have always been pretty low.
- 13:52SPEAKER_02: Maryland's been thought of as a basketball school primarily for a very, very long time.
- 13:57SPEAKER_02: And I don't know that that's gonna change just because they're getting a bigger paycheck.
- 14:01SPEAKER_02: We talked about this a lot.
- 14:02SPEAKER_02: I think it was on a ride back or two, Charlotte.
- 14:05SPEAKER_02: Um, right, yeah.
- 14:07SPEAKER_02: How these yeah, how these conference, you know, paychecks change expectations.
- 14:12SPEAKER_02: What does it mean?
- 14:13SPEAKER_02: Um, I still think it it's buy-in first and foremost from the administration and it's a culture shift.
- 14:19SPEAKER_02: And so that comes typically with a new head coach who injects a little life into the program or maybe wins a couple of games that they shouldn't, and then everyone says, wait a minute, why not us?
- 14:30SPEAKER_02: We should this is what we should be doing.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 14:32SPEAKER_01: Um it's you know, for the first time in Maryland football history, and this is probably true for a lot of schools, they have been given just a tremendous amount of resources.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: There was a time 10 years ago where most departments were taking money from their coffers from their education departments and other things to pay for football jumbotrons and you know, ESPN Beyond the Line said a whole segment about this.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: That's not the case anymore.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: All of these schools are getting handed huge sums of money for their football team.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: I just I'm it makes me wonder if you you don't see schools like Maryland getting more aggressive.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: I think Mike Saloxley is one of the guys who's got to be in the hot on the hot seat by now.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: And if they're not gonna try and turn around, because with so much money and exposure at stake in a pretty good recruiting ground, Mid-Atlantic's a good place to recruit in a power two, big, you know, the big two conference, like they've got a chance.
- 15:19SPEAKER_01: And I just wonder how long schools like a Maryland are just willing to sit there and just say, Yeah, let's take a hundred million dollars a year and we'll be six and six until eternity.
- 15:28SPEAKER_02: So uh yeah, yeah.
- 15:29SPEAKER_02: I just the when you think about why a program isn't succeeding, throwing money at at something is never the solution, right?
- 15:37SPEAKER_02: They fire a guy and then they're they're gonna go, they're gonna coach's salaries keep getting higher and higher and higher.
- 15:43SPEAKER_02: So that just means you hire another guy who with no plan in place from an administration standpoint and from a support standpoint from that school, and you just hope it works out, but you're paying them more money.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: I mean, I it's certainly not, yeah, it's certainly not the solution, but it can't be done without it.
- 15:59SPEAKER_01: Obviously, the Georgias, the Oregons, the Ohio States of Texas, Texas ANM, they all have big, big, big money.
- 16:04SPEAKER_01: And you know, now Maryland they don't have Maryland doesn't have Texas AM and Oregon money, but they got money.
- 16:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, they've got they've got cash to play with.
- 16:11SPEAKER_01: I just wonder what it does to the expectation of just being a mid-level Big Ten team when maybe you don't have to be so much.
- 16:17SPEAKER_01: So it'll be fun to kind of watch how this all unfolds.
- 16:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, Saturday.
- 16:21SPEAKER_01: Saturday was awesome.
- 16:22SPEAKER_01: I, you know, for the most part, I should look at the billing in terms of a lot of great games.
- 16:26SPEAKER_01: Uh, we'll start with one of our uh apples of our eyes on a darling here.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: The mic blitz.
- 16:30SPEAKER_01: Cam rising is back and he stinks.
- 16:34SPEAKER_01: Uh Utah loses 19-27.
- 16:36SPEAKER_01: Cam goes 16 for 37, 209 yards, zero touchdowns, three picks.
- 16:40SPEAKER_01: Rusty, is he hurt?
- 16:43SPEAKER_01: Bigger issues.
- 16:44SPEAKER_01: What does Utah do about Cam rising at this point?
- 16:47SPEAKER_01: Like, is it time to cut and run?
- 16:48SPEAKER_01: There's rumors of him getting an eighth year of eligibility.
- 16:51SPEAKER_02: So he is out.
- 16:52SPEAKER_02: He is out.
- 16:53SPEAKER_02: He is he's out for the rest of the season.
- 16:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, I didn't see that.
- 16:57SPEAKER_01: That just dropped today.
- 16:58SPEAKER_02: Yeah, okay uh yeah, late last night, I want to say um well, good, frankly.
- 17:06SPEAKER_02: You know what that's a leg injury sustained during the game.
- 17:10SPEAKER_02: So moving on from cam rising.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: It sounds like he wasn't healthy.
- 17:13SPEAKER_01: Maybe, maybe that, maybe that's what it was.
- 17:14SPEAKER_01: I mean, hopefully, whatever he can maybe he's at the point now where it might be time to medically retire.
- 17:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's been three years since his ACL tear in that Florida game 2022.
- 17:25SPEAKER_01: Like, we're getting now to the point.
- 17:27SPEAKER_01: I mean, I wish all the best.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: I love watching him play, I love watching him move Utah up and down the field.
- 17:33SPEAKER_01: Um, but obviously, um, it might be time for him to get a fresh start and Utah to get a fresh start.
- 17:37SPEAKER_01: They've got a really good coach, they still have really good defense, um, but uh he's just he's not it, and now he's hurt.
- 17:43SPEAKER_02: So there's yeah, his hair and mustache says, put me in coach, but his body says I can't do it anymore.
- 17:49SPEAKER_02: Not so much, not so much.
- 17:52SPEAKER_01: Yeah, on the other side of the cone, Arizona State, not bad.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: They're five and one.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: Cam Scataboo, which is one of one of my favorite names in college football, to go with Fluff Mothwell's uh South Alabama running back, 22 for 158 yards, two touchdowns, 7.6 yards carry.
- 18:05SPEAKER_01: Did you happen to see that insane carry that insane touchdown run where he almost went down about eight times?
- 18:11SPEAKER_01: If you get a chance, catch it on Twitter.
- 18:12SPEAKER_01: Dude's got you talk about like Ash and Genty type balance.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Mr.
- 18:15SPEAKER_01: Scataboo at Arizona State might have that.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: Very impressive.
- 18:18SPEAKER_01: So, I mean, Arizona State 5-1.
- 18:20SPEAKER_01: They are also live and well at the live, yeah.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: Still live and well.
- 18:23SPEAKER_01: Clemson's been on a war path, uh laid ways to wake forest.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: Wakeforest just scored a little, Clemson scored a lot.
- 18:29SPEAKER_01: This has been every week um for Clemson since the Georgia meltdown.
- 18:34SPEAKER_01: Um, I think you and I both agree Clemson's back in it.
- 18:36SPEAKER_01: And in fact, we kind of agree that Clemson might be have the inside track to win the ACC now.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Is Kate Klubnick upgraded his play to an NFL caliber quarterback?
- 18:44SPEAKER_01: Are we back on the Kade up train?
- 18:46SPEAKER_01: Is he is he the next is he the next Clemson great behind?
- 18:50SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 18:51SPEAKER_02: The ACC is terrible and they haven't played anybody, so I don't know.
- 18:57SPEAKER_02: They Clemson looks good, sure.
- 19:00SPEAKER_02: They've they've looked good.
- 19:01SPEAKER_02: Um, but I don't know.
- 19:03SPEAKER_02: I'm not ready yet.
- 19:04SPEAKER_02: I mean, they yes, they have the inside track because their schedule and their conference is very weak this year.
- 19:10SPEAKER_02: So, what that means when they play even Pitt coming up, um, or even South Carolina the last game of the season, home versus Virginia interesting to see.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Yeah, home versus Louisville, which I'm actually still pretty high on Louisville.
- 19:22SPEAKER_01: I think Louisville's pretty good at Virginia Tech in November, which could be could be a spot.
- 19:26SPEAKER_01: We'll see what the hookies look like next two or three weeks.
- 19:28SPEAKER_01: At Pitt could be a spot.
- 19:30SPEAKER_01: The Citadel, you're in my favorite team.
- 19:32SPEAKER_01: Love to pick on the Citadel, and then versus South Carolina, who has that nasty front seven.
- 19:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, like when you ever when you have a nasty front seven in a rivalry game, like anything can happen.
- 19:41SPEAKER_01: I've upgraded Kate Klubnik a lot in my book.
- 19:43SPEAKER_01: I still don't know if he's NFL caliber, but but for college level, he's good enough.
- 19:47SPEAKER_01: What I think I'm seeing is I think he's good enough to do whatever Clemson wants to do this year or can do this year.
- 19:52SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm back on the Clemson trade.
- 19:54SPEAKER_01: I I shouldn't not have uh sold all my Clemson stock after week one because they look a hell a lot better this day.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Um, Vandy, uh, one again uh of 14 points against Kentucky, impressive win.
- 20:06SPEAKER_01: Diego Pavia season.
- 20:08SPEAKER_01: Uh tell tell your wife and kids about him.
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: He's amazing.
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Um, do you realize how close Vandy was to 6 and 0?
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: That super weird loss 36-32 at Georgia State, which is really unexplicable, knowing we know now, and that double overtime loss to Mizzou.
- 20:21SPEAKER_01: Like Vandy is good with a capital G.
- 20:25SPEAKER_01: They are good football team.
- 20:26SPEAKER_02: They're one of the better stories this year.
- 20:28SPEAKER_02: I mean, it's it's been fun to watch them piece it together, and then what that tells you is they've just got some really good coaching, they got a couple talent injections in the right places, Pavia being one of them, and um, they're not to be slept on.
- 20:41SPEAKER_02: This is not um the the Vandy of old.
- 20:44SPEAKER_01: No, it sure isn't.
- 20:45SPEAKER_01: Um, and I think you guys, I think you guys played them this year.
- 20:47SPEAKER_01: I think we do too, actually.
- 20:48SPEAKER_01: I think but I think yeah, I think we both have both have a chance to see Diego Pavia up close.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: Uh, why is Missouri scheduling UMass?
- 20:56SPEAKER_01: Uh they won 45 to 3.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: You Mizzou rem reminds me of like a college friend, like on the weekends, you just like didn't want to hang out for no reason, which is lame, which is lame.
- 21:06SPEAKER_01: Like, I just I don't know why Mizzou does this to themselves.
- 21:10SPEAKER_01: You know, they are they're gonna be they're probably gonna be sitting at 10 and 2, you know, maybe maybe 11 and one.
- 21:15SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're gonna beat Bam and I don't think they're gonna beat uh AM.
- 21:19SPEAKER_01: They lost AM already, they got one other tough game in there.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: I think they're I think 10 and 2, but they're gonna be sitting there at 10 and 2 at like the 13th spot.
- 21:26SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be looking the outside because they're gonna look at their out-of-conference schedule, it's just abysmal.
- 21:31SPEAKER_01: Um, why do they do this to themselves?
- 21:33SPEAKER_02: Well, they got helped out by um the uh officials uh in the SEC with this in the scheduling department because you know you can't that you can't you can't blame Missouri for getting the easiest in conference schedule in the conference, but um, yeah, that a a decent out of conference game would have benefited them.
- 21:54SPEAKER_02: Uh you know, Missouri they've got yeah, I I'm looking at their schedule now.
- 22:00SPEAKER_02: I think they almost certainly dropped that Bama game.
- 22:03SPEAKER_02: Um, Auburn.
- 22:05SPEAKER_01: I don't love them at South Carolina.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: I don't love them versus Arkansas.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: I don't love them versus Oklahoma.
- 22:10SPEAKER_02: I mean Oklahoma's still tough.
- 22:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I think Auburn's uh a six-point dog this week.
- 22:15SPEAKER_01: I I mean I wouldn't be shocked if Auburn pulled a rabbit out of their hat.
- 22:18SPEAKER_01: Auburn's a weird team.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 22:19SPEAKER_01: I'm not love necessarily what Hugh Freeze is doing all the time.
- 22:22SPEAKER_01: I think it's kind of I think it's kind of kind of treading water this year, but I don't put it past him to lose that game.
- 22:26SPEAKER_02: I can't believe that's a six-point spread.
- 22:29SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 22:30SPEAKER_02: That's really interesting.
- 22:31SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Vegas does not love Missouri either.
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: Iowa State beat West Virginia in Morgantown 28 to 16.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: Two things.
- 22:38SPEAKER_01: Did you see uh West Virginia uniforms?
- 22:41SPEAKER_01: The uh the coal tribute, they did the blackout to coal workers.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: Loved it.
- 22:45SPEAKER_01: I thought they were I've I've I talk out of both sides of my mouth on this.
- 22:48SPEAKER_01: I'm generally out on the all black.
- 22:50SPEAKER_01: I think they were kind of cool when they were new 15, 20 years ago.
- 22:52SPEAKER_01: Now it kind of feels like everyone's does does it.
- 22:55SPEAKER_01: This is a rare exception.
- 22:56SPEAKER_01: They actually the cool tributes and the details to the coal workers, which is a big part of West Virginia state economy and their history.
- 23:02SPEAKER_01: Really cool.
- 23:03SPEAKER_01: Did you happen to see the coal workers lead them into the stadium?
- 23:08SPEAKER_01: No, no, it was an awesome video.
- 23:10SPEAKER_01: It's on Twitter somewhere.
- 23:12SPEAKER_01: Um, the team uh you know walking to the stadium in their uh game day suits or whatever, and there's all these coal workers in their uniforms with their hard hats on, leading the West Virginia Mountaineers.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: That is just something you would never see in professional league.
- 23:24SPEAKER_01: That is just cool college personality.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: I just I'm a huge, huge fan of that.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: Uh unfortunately, they lost to Iowa State, who's actually really, really good.
- 23:33SPEAKER_01: Um, Iowa State continues to go on the road, continues to impress.
- 23:38SPEAKER_01: Mike, fun fact.
- 23:40SPEAKER_01: Why don't you tell me how fun this fact is?
- 23:43SPEAKER_01: Speaking of Iowa State, did you know that they have won seven straight road games?
- 24:28SPEAKER_02: I did know that.
- 24:29SPEAKER_02: That is a that is a mediocre fun fact.
- 24:32SPEAKER_01: Mediocre?
- 24:33SPEAKER_01: You don't think it's that fun?
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Matt Cable's an outstanding coach.
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: They are well coached on a scale of awesome time to knee surgery.
- 24:39SPEAKER_01: Like, give me like how fun is that fact?
- 24:42SPEAKER_02: Um, that is a game of pinball.
- 24:47SPEAKER_02: Fun.
- 24:48SPEAKER_02: Kind of fun.
- 24:49SPEAKER_02: I'll play it for a minute, get bored pretty quickly, moving on.
- 24:53SPEAKER_01: Really well done, right?
- 24:54SPEAKER_01: That's that's really well done.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: Good stuff.
- 24:57SPEAKER_01: Uh, so the rest of their schedule at Kansas who have bottomed out, they're one and five.
- 25:01SPEAKER_01: They're they're they're going to Lawrence, Kansas, not gonna be a problem.
- 25:04SPEAKER_01: At Utah, which we have now know for sure the cam rising is out, and we know that Utah, frankly, is kind of bad with or without him for unfortunately this year.
- 25:12SPEAKER_01: I like it there.
- 25:13SPEAKER_01: And then they are home for the UCF, Texas Tech, Cincinnati, and K-State.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: I think K-State's gonna end as the last game of the year, and that game is in Ames, which might actually turn up to be a monster.
- 25:22SPEAKER_01: And yeah, that's gonna be a fun one.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: I mean, I think it's gonna be the I think it's gonna be for the Big 12, and honestly, it might be one of those rematch games.
- 25:28SPEAKER_01: K-State already has the one Big 12 loss to BYU early in the year.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: But if they beat Iowa State and they're all sitting there and BYU drops one or two, we might be looking at a Ames Iowa State K-State game, and then a rematch in Dallas?
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: Is that where the Big 12 championship is?
- 25:43SPEAKER_01: I think Big Twelve in Dallas the next week.
- 25:45SPEAKER_02: So and that is gonna be extremely interesting because this might not be the only time that type of scenario happens across college football.
- 25:53SPEAKER_02: And how does the playoff picture shake out when you've got teams playing each other essentially twice?
- 26:00SPEAKER_02: How much do you put into the conference championship versus the right into the regular season?
- 26:04SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, how does that affect seating?
- 26:06SPEAKER_02: Like it's a lot of weirdness.
- 26:08SPEAKER_02: Um, and how do you play that if you're a coach, you know?
- 26:12SPEAKER_02: Like obviously, obviously you you want to get that bye, but there are a lot of arguments to be made if you are sitting on the edge of the by, you know, is what is it, the six?
- 26:22SPEAKER_01: The four, the for the first six, the fourth one to one.
- 26:25SPEAKER_02: And you play like and you play the G5 team, yeah.
- 26:29SPEAKER_02: Instead of going on a bye, it's almost an easier path because then you play the worst of the right.
- 26:34SPEAKER_01: Okay, okay, I see what you're saying.
- 26:35SPEAKER_01: Yeah, instead of it's trying to avoid like a Big Ten or an SEC number two, might be better off, uh, served in in that regard.
- 26:42SPEAKER_01: No, that that makes a lot of sense.
- 26:43SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm still holding out.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: I'm still holding out for an Army Navy uh back-to-back weeks American champ confercon conference championship.
- 26:50SPEAKER_01: And then again, and obviously the story at Army Navy bowl.
- 26:53SPEAKER_01: So um I would I would I hope we see it a couple times, and we might.
- 26:56SPEAKER_01: This is gonna be a weird year uh in that respect.
- 26:59SPEAKER_01: Um, tough day for Rutgers.
- 27:01SPEAKER_01: Your favorite coach and mine, Greg Ciano.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Maybe getting that six and a half wins might not be a given.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Ahan Kallachmanis was honeymoon is over.
- 27:09SPEAKER_01: Aethan Kallachmanis, the Greek rifle at honeymoon is over.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: The run defensive was terrible.
- 27:13SPEAKER_01: They gave over 300 yards on the ground to Nebraska.
- 27:16SPEAKER_01: That'll do it.
- 27:17SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm not gonna talk about Greg Shiano and Rutgers right now because we know Greg Sciano had an amazing game plan.
- 27:23SPEAKER_01: Um, it was perfectly scouted.
- 27:25SPEAKER_01: His halftime speech was everything.
- 27:26SPEAKER_01: His players quit on him was clearly not his fault.
- 27:28SPEAKER_01: Greg Shiano did amazing things.
- 27:29SPEAKER_01: He's an amazing coach, but um his players uh failed him.
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: So we're not gonna talk about them.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: We're gonna talk about Nebraska.
- 27:34SPEAKER_01: Nebraska is sitting at five and one.
- 27:37SPEAKER_01: And Nebraska, right?
- 27:38SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 27:39SPEAKER_01: Wait, Rutgers being who do Rutgers lose to?
- 27:42SPEAKER_01: Wisconsin?
- 27:43SPEAKER_01: Wisconsin.
- 27:44SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 27:45SPEAKER_02: The Nebraska uh game was the week before.
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: Oh, thank you.
- 27:48SPEAKER_02: Uh, that was a tight one that we picked, and we were on the Nebraska side, and they won.
- 27:53SPEAKER_02: And then Wisconsin came in and blew the doors off Rutgers.
- 27:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, that is right.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: Destruction.
- 28:00SPEAKER_01: That is what happened.
- 28:01SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm not really that high on Wisconsin.
- 28:03SPEAKER_01: Well, I guess we should talk about Wisconsin.
- 28:04SPEAKER_01: Good job, Wisconsin.
- 28:05SPEAKER_01: Um, I still don't think you're very good.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: Uh, so I'm not gonna talk a lot about Wisconsin, but I'm gonna talk about Nebraska real quick because I had a point about them.
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: How are nemotional are Nebraska fans right now?
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: Sitting at five and one, one game away from clinching bowl eligibility, which they have not done since 2016.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Ironically, small world against your Tennessee Volunteers, uh, eight years ago.
- 28:23SPEAKER_01: Their next two games are at Indiana, they're gonna be a dog, and then at Ohio State, where they're gonna be a sizable dog.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: How is Nebraska Nation feeling right now?
- 28:31SPEAKER_01: Thinking about what's gonna happen, what's coming?
- 28:33SPEAKER_02: Um, I think they're feeling um trepidation, you know, they've got they're they're staring at two potential losses, but I also think this is a good scenario to be in if you're a football team, kind of back against the wall mentality, nothing to lose.
- 28:48SPEAKER_02: Uh, and if you're gonna start that stretch off with you know a highly rated team of all of them out there, Indiana might be one of the better ones to take take your shot at.
- 29:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I think I mean I think they can knock off Indiana.
- 29:03SPEAKER_01: And obviously, coming off a bye is great, week for rest, recovery, more game plan, more film, all the things.
- 29:07SPEAKER_01: So, like they're gonna get a shot.
- 29:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, they're they're certainly not they're certainly not a given that they're gonna lose to uh mighty Indiana, but it's one of the games that we're excited about this week.
- 29:15SPEAKER_01: Uh moving on, uh, where am I?
- 29:18SPEAKER_01: Is the Luster off of Alabama already, given their woeful performance, I would say, against South Carolina?
- 29:26SPEAKER_01: I don't think South Carolina is great.
- 29:28SPEAKER_01: I think they're good, I think their defense is awesome, I think their offense is pitiful.
- 29:31SPEAKER_01: Um, but Bama nearly lost that game at home this time.
- 29:36SPEAKER_01: Calen Abor, it's got to be getting a little uncomfortable every day in Tuscaloosa.
- 29:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so Alabama to me just looks like they've come down to earth.
- 29:47SPEAKER_02: You know, they look like every other good college football team where every week is a struggle to get a win.
- 29:53SPEAKER_02: I mean, how many teams have you seen this year that just look a cut above the rest?
- 29:57SPEAKER_02: Uh, maybe a couple at times, but there is a sparse contrast.
- 30:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, week in and week out, you've got to find a way to win.
- 30:05SPEAKER_02: And this is a very different year than um some years in college football.
- 30:10SPEAKER_02: This is more like kind of like what you see in the NFL, where it's like matchups and week to week, uh, you see a different kind of style of football, even from the same team.
- 30:18SPEAKER_02: So um, yeah, I I just think you're maybe if you didn't know how good Nick Saban was, maybe you're appreciating him even more now that you see how hard it is to take even a really talented team and look dominant week in and week out.
- 30:35SPEAKER_01: I think you nailed it.
- 30:36SPEAKER_01: I think I have PTSD, just from all the years of the Alabama's greatness, you know, have the have no having to watch it for so long.
- 30:41SPEAKER_01: Um, like this does not feel like a Saban excellent team, and maybe nobody will be a Saban level excellent team leader, franchise leader the way that he was.
- 30:51SPEAKER_01: It might be a while.
- 30:52SPEAKER_01: So um, I'm it's you know, there's something wrong with that team though.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: I mean, the secondary is really questionable.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: The defense is getting gashed by teams it should not be getting gashed by.
- 31:01SPEAKER_01: Uh, so I'm I'm wondering if this is a I mean, I'm I'm seeing Bama on the ropes, they're going to Mayland here in five days.
- 31:08SPEAKER_01: I know you're excited about, which we'll talk about.
- 31:11SPEAKER_01: Um, but I'm I'm starting I'm starting to get really skeptical about Alabama.
- 31:15SPEAKER_01: Um uh Texas, Red River shootout, the game with Texas State Fair and the Cotton Bowl.
- 31:19SPEAKER_01: Uh, Texas, many points, Oklahoma, three points.
- 31:22SPEAKER_01: Two questions.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: Is the Manning Ewers quarterback controversy the highest profile controversy in the last 50 years?
- 31:28SPEAKER_01: Continues to be.
- 31:29SPEAKER_01: It's got to be, right?
- 31:31SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 31:32SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, there were a few.
- 31:34SPEAKER_02: I think back to like Georgia with like Justin Fields leaving, and as far as like the back and forth on, you know, all I can think of was all I can think about was like Tebow and Chris Lee.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: So the floor the Florida guys, yeah.
- 31:48SPEAKER_02: Um, but even then, you know, early on, they used Tebo in very specific situations.
- 31:53SPEAKER_02: They had packages for him, it was a different style.
- 31:55SPEAKER_02: Um, these guys are pretty kind of mirror images of each other, the way they play the game.
- 32:01SPEAKER_02: Um, they can both move, they both got you know good arms.
- 32:05SPEAKER_02: Um, I so yeah, you know, to answer your question, I think it is um early on that game, Texas didn't look that good.
- 32:12SPEAKER_02: You know, they missed out on a lot of opportunities.
- 32:14SPEAKER_02: Oklahoma continued to shoot themselves in the foot with turnovers.
- 32:17SPEAKER_02: Yep.
- 32:18SPEAKER_02: Um, that that that game was not it was just an ugly game early, and it got away from Oklahoma when it really didn't have to, they just could knock it out of their own way.
- 32:30SPEAKER_02: I agree.
- 32:30SPEAKER_01: I also mean that's kind of what I'm getting at.
- 32:32SPEAKER_01: I don't think yours is I think Manning's better.
- 32:34SPEAKER_01: And I think at some point, I think and I kind of think that first half, and we're seeing it in spots, like yours seems to do well when there's no pressure on him whatsoever, but he's had inconsistent performances throughout throughout his career.
- 32:45SPEAKER_01: And I'm starting to wonder if Arch Manning is actually just not the better quarterback.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: And if he's the better quarterback, he's supposed to play.
- 32:52SPEAKER_01: I recognize there's politics that goes into that.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: I recognize there's management with young guys and expectations and draft stock, and you know, it's Texas, so it's all kinds of things that go into that for Sarkeesian.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: But I know one of the hot takes I'm starting to develop is I actually think Arch Manning's better.
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: And if he's better, that's gonna figure itself out pretty soon, in which case we're talking about a real controversy, not like a like you said, like a leak Tebow where it was kind of like rolls situation, but like an actual controversy.
- 33:18SPEAKER_02: Well, I think go ahead.
- 33:19SPEAKER_02: In order for there to be some actual controversy, they need to lose, and there needs to be some mismanagement of the situation because he first came in and he he struggled, but he I mean, he's coming off an injury, there was probably a little rust.
- 33:32SPEAKER_02: Um, they still won.
- 33:33SPEAKER_02: So, in order for there to be fire where there's smoke, something has to happen.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: I agree with you, which is why we're talking about this game later weekend.
- 33:40SPEAKER_01: I think George is gonna win.
- 33:41SPEAKER_01: I'll talk about it in a minute.
- 33:42SPEAKER_01: Quickly, Oklahoma.
- 33:44SPEAKER_01: Can you tell me what their offensive philosophy is?
- 33:47SPEAKER_01: Do you know anything about Oklahoma's offense?
- 33:49SPEAKER_01: Like what they're supposed to do.
- 33:50SPEAKER_01: What do they look like when they're successful?
- 33:52SPEAKER_02: They are sowkins.
- 33:53SPEAKER_02: I think Hawkins Jr.
- 33:55SPEAKER_02: Um has done some good things, but their offense is so limited with him at quarterback.
- 33:59SPEAKER_02: Um, he's a run first guy right now.
- 34:01SPEAKER_02: He's gonna be super talented, he's got a good arm, uh, but he's not seeing the ball, uh, the field well, and he's not, you know, he's just one-dimensional, and they're just not able to find any other ways to use him.
- 34:14SPEAKER_02: So, to answer your question, I don't know what their offense is.
- 34:16SPEAKER_02: It's not good.
- 34:17SPEAKER_02: It's so bad.
- 34:18SPEAKER_02: Would you put Jackson Arnold back out there?
- 34:20SPEAKER_02: Try and give us a shot in the arm, Spark.
- 34:22SPEAKER_02: I would.
- 34:23SPEAKER_02: I would have done it already.
- 34:24SPEAKER_02: I would have done it.
- 34:25SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, that that's one of those situations where even especially in this game against Texas, uh, I probably would have rolled him out first snap of the second half.
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: Why not?
- 34:33SPEAKER_02: Like, yeah, coach him up, tell him here's what we're gonna do.
- 34:36SPEAKER_02: Um, you gotta do something.
- 34:38SPEAKER_02: You gotta do something.
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: Just go back to what you were running all summer.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: It was he was supposed to be the guy, he was supposed to be the just out there slinging it.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: Like, just I mean, I recognize it wasn't perfect, recognized it has flaws.
- 34:48SPEAKER_01: Tennessee exposed a lot of those to your credit, but get try that because the Hawkins thing, at least for the second half of this game, is not going anywhere.
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: That seemed abundantly clear to me, really at the second quarter.
- 34:59SPEAKER_01: Go ahead.
- 34:59SPEAKER_02: Well, yeah, but I also say um it doesn't matter which quarterback you roll out there when you've got five years starting five wide receivers hurt.
- 35:09SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's tough.
- 35:10SPEAKER_02: Um, so but Oklahoma should have those guys.
- 35:13SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma should have those guys.
- 35:14SPEAKER_01: They should be Oklahoma.
- 35:15SPEAKER_02: That's that's not that's not a that's not a fair situation.
- 35:18SPEAKER_02: You can't take five starters out of any lineup anywhere and and plug and play.
- 35:22SPEAKER_01: All right, let's keep it rolling.
- 35:23SPEAKER_01: Drew Larr, maybe his best game, huge comeback against USC.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Loved it.
- 35:27SPEAKER_01: Tyler Warren, the tight end, maybe the best tight end in the country, 17 catches, 224 yards and a touchdown.
- 35:33SPEAKER_01: They were hitting that quick pass to him all day.
- 35:36SPEAKER_01: It was fun to see.
- 35:37SPEAKER_01: I couldn't find a single performance by Kyle Pitts or Brock Bowers, which are probably the two best college tight ends come out of college in the last 10, 15 years, that were as good on a game against a real opponent as that.
- 35:49SPEAKER_01: Um, any USC Penn State Tyler Warren takes?
- 35:52SPEAKER_02: Well, I will I'll just say it sounds like you're giving Penn State a lot, a lot of credit for this game, right?
- 35:57SPEAKER_02: I am and Drew Lar.
- 35:58SPEAKER_01: It was a it was an it was a ballsy comeback on the road.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously the first half didn't look great, but to be down what they were uh, you know, across the country and to storm all the way back the way they did.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: I yeah, I mean it's it's something they should they shouldn't have been down that early.
- 36:11SPEAKER_01: I kind of thought they were just gonna pound pound the rock, and it's it's a little concerned they weren't able to run as easy as USC as they were.
- 36:16SPEAKER_02: Well, that's I think that's my next question is how good is USC?
- 36:20SPEAKER_02: I mean, Drew Larr threw three interceptions, he had to throw the best three and three team in the country.
- 36:25SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 36:26SPEAKER_02: They only they had their best, you know, their leading rusher, uh Catron Allen had 56 yards, so they weren't able to really effectively run the ball.
- 36:32SPEAKER_02: Game tempo with getting down early kind of dictated that a little bit.
- 36:36SPEAKER_02: But um, yeah, I mean, I don't know.
- 36:38SPEAKER_02: I I would I I think we we both expected Penn State to to be more dominant in this game and show me that like kind of this is a kind of show me game.
- 36:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, and um for me, they didn't.
- 36:51SPEAKER_02: I mean, jury's still out.
- 36:53SPEAKER_02: I don't think USC is that good.
- 36:54SPEAKER_01: I don't think they're that good yet, but we're an interesting storyline developing is this Penn State hosting Ohio State.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be a night game, it's gonna be a whiteout.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: I think this might be the one of the better shots Penn State's gonna have at them in quite some time because when we're talking right now, Ohio State, they've got some warts.
- 37:10SPEAKER_01: They went down to they went to Outson, they lost two.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying they're bad, they're a great team, they're still a top five team, but they lost.
- 37:16SPEAKER_01: Um, this all this offensive line is a real weakness for uh Ohio State.
- 37:20SPEAKER_01: Uh Denzel Burke, the all-American cornerback, he got abused by Oregon wide receivers.
- 37:26SPEAKER_01: Um, their front seven wasn't nearly as imposing as we thought they were.
- 37:29SPEAKER_01: Um, I was never that excited about Will Howard and that last second uh drop play, which is inexcusable.
- 37:35SPEAKER_01: I'm not really that worried about Ohio State.
- 37:37SPEAKER_01: They've got a two-game season, the Penn State being the next game.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: So we'll just find out then.
- 37:41SPEAKER_01: But you got any Ohio State takes you want to jump in with?
- 37:44SPEAKER_02: You know, it's I think Oregon is better than they've improved a lot.
- 37:49SPEAKER_02: They're better than they were.
- 37:50SPEAKER_02: I don't have a lot of main, I mean, what a fantastic game.
- 37:54SPEAKER_02: Both teams playing at a high level.
- 37:56SPEAKER_02: To me, it just shows me both of these teams are really good.
- 37:59SPEAKER_02: Because tell me, and pick a team right now that would have gone into that environment and and gone into that and faced that Oregon team and come out come out of there with a gun.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: I I mean, only for Texas or Georgia.
- 38:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, it'd be it would have to be it'd have to be a great team.
- 38:11SPEAKER_01: I I'll be honest with you, I kind of thought the Ohio State game was gonna go the way I kind of thought the Penn State was gonna game was gonna go.
- 38:17SPEAKER_01: I thought Ohio State was gonna push them around and be the outphysical.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: And they, I mean, Oregon shut down, other than that one 50-yard scramble by uh uh tragon Henderson, they shut down the rush running game.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: And like that's that is frankly what Ohio State with, especially with Chip Kelly calling that offense, that's supposed to be their ace in the hole.
- 38:35SPEAKER_01: Um, and it really wasn't.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: Jeremiah Smith had some balls, he played he played well.
- 38:40SPEAKER_01: Um, I came away from this game way higher on Oregon, and I realized that Ohio State's a lot more vulnerable than I thought they were.
- 38:46SPEAKER_02: Well, I think Dylan Gabriel played awesome.
- 38:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, yeah, he's that line.
- 38:50SPEAKER_02: I mean he played the way we have expected him to play all year.
- 38:53SPEAKER_02: Um the thing is, go ahead, they can get up for this game, and this was a fantastic game.
- 38:59SPEAKER_02: But do we see a letdown you know next week or the week after that?
- 39:02SPEAKER_02: So they just need to be a little more consistent.
- 39:04SPEAKER_02: But yeah, to me, they've shown themselves to be you know one of the top teams in the country.
- 39:07SPEAKER_02: Um both teams, really, both of those teams.
- 39:09SPEAKER_01: What does Oregon's schedule look like really quick?
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: They got Oregon's goals at Purdue.
- 39:13SPEAKER_01: They might win by 70.
- 39:14SPEAKER_01: Um, Illinois, right at Michigan.
- 39:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, that's gonna be that's gonna be a tough game.
- 39:19SPEAKER_01: But Maryland, Wisconsin, Washington, UW, I got I got them around the table.
- 39:23SPEAKER_01: I got Oregon going 12 and 0, which will which probably means they're gonna play Ohio State again.
- 39:29SPEAKER_01: Again, assuming Ohio State can get past Penn State.
- 39:33SPEAKER_01: Um, if Ohio State doesn't make the Big Ten championship, like man, that is going to be you want to talk, you want to talk about Brian Day, maybe find himself in the a little bit, a little bit uncomfortable situation.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: Um, so anyway, uh quick question Is Oregon the most improved team from week one uh to now?
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: And I'll give you some other other candidates.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Clemson, LSU, we've won five straight.
- 39:59SPEAKER_01: Notre Dame lost to NIU.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: Seems like they've murdered they've been covered ever since Texas AM lost to uh uh Notre Dame, but then they've they put together Texas Tech, only one loss on their schedule as well.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: And they and they had pretty low expectations coming into the year, and they just look better.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: Yeah, is who is the who is your most improved so far in from start of week one to now this year?
- 40:20SPEAKER_02: I think my kind of knee-jerk reaction um is this is to kind of call out that AM game against Notre Dame and and and how they've improved week to week as a as a complete team.
- 40:32SPEAKER_02: But AM or Notre ceiling.
- 40:33SPEAKER_01: Who's who's improved?
- 40:34SPEAKER_01: AM and AM.
- 40:35SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I agree.
- 40:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, um, but the ceiling of where Oregon is now, having just coming off beaten beaten Ohio State versus how they looked early on in the season, where we're kept waiting on them to like they almost lost to Idaho, yeah, yeah.
- 40:50SPEAKER_02: So I mean that's you gotta say that, but it was there all along.
- 40:53SPEAKER_02: Um so I don't know.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: Uh I'm gonna give Oregon the edge because I mean, again, they almost lost to Idaho and they should have lost to Boise, and they have to date the best win of anybody.
- 41:05SPEAKER_01: There's nobody, there's no there's no singular team, no game that's a better win than Oregon knocking off Ohio State for my money so far this year, but we'll see you later.
- 41:13SPEAKER_01: Uh let's keep it rolling.
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: BYU picked off uh No Fafita three times, they won 41-19, undefeated.
- 41:19SPEAKER_01: I still don't think they're very good.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: Jake Retzlaff just keeps impressing people.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: Good for you.
- 41:23SPEAKER_01: We'll find out about K-State and Iowa State later.
- 41:25SPEAKER_01: Uh, I legitimately feel bad for Wazoo, who are five and one, they're gonna be 11 and one, and Oregon State, who's probably gonna be like nine and three.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: How many power four opponents do you think Wazoo plays this year?
- 41:39SPEAKER_01: Three.
- 41:40SPEAKER_01: They play three, Oregon State plays two.
- 41:42SPEAKER_01: I'm not counting, I'm not counting each other because technically they're not power four teams anymore.
- 41:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: Pac-12 is not a power, so like literally, that's it.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Can you imagine being a Tennessee fan and being like, oh, we're just not gonna play Auburn, LSU, or Georgia anymore, and now we're playing Charlotte and Citadel and ECU, no disrespect to those teams.
- 42:01SPEAKER_01: Like, that's gotta be devastating.
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: I it occurred to me when I was looking at their schedules today, it's like that's gotta be devastating for Wazoo and Oregon State fans who are gonna have great years.
- 42:11SPEAKER_02: Yeah, yeah, it's uh it's kind of mind-bottling.
- 42:14SPEAKER_02: Like, it's so weird to think about.
- 42:17SPEAKER_02: Um, but you know, you kind of did it to yourself.
- 42:20SPEAKER_02: You had the chance to to to shuffle and make the move.
- 42:24SPEAKER_02: Uh, you decided not to, and you can't, you know, gotta go get some games.
- 42:29SPEAKER_02: But this is kind of the the old, you know, Notre Dame, like you know, the old independence.
- 42:39SPEAKER_02: Um, you can be an independent and and pull it off, but you've got to go find those games and get somebody to play you.
- 42:45SPEAKER_02: And I don't know if they didn't have time or if no one wanted to to jump in the boat and and match up with them, but um yeah, that that's weird.
- 42:53SPEAKER_02: It's a weird, weird scenario.
- 42:54SPEAKER_02: Weird situation's weird.
- 42:56SPEAKER_01: California is weird.
- 42:57SPEAKER_01: Uh let's jump for the homers.
- 42:58SPEAKER_01: Uh Virginia Tech was on a buy, so they're they rested up for their BC game on Thursday, which is exciting.
- 43:02SPEAKER_01: Get a good game, good uh Thursday night college game.
- 43:05SPEAKER_01: Uh UVA, the Grady bunch sighting.
- 43:08SPEAKER_01: Uh love Grady Oster House uh punched in for touchdown, still lost.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: That was a tough game.
- 43:12SPEAKER_01: The loss of Louisville 24-20.
- 43:15SPEAKER_01: Um, Clanjury had a pretty good day, 26 for 45, dropped back a lot.
- 43:19SPEAKER_01: Um, he rushed the ball 15 times for 84 yards, too.
- 43:22SPEAKER_01: Malachi Fields, nine catch, 129 yards.
- 43:24SPEAKER_01: They had a real chance at knocking off Louisville in a game like they they they're gonna have to get one of these games.
- 43:31SPEAKER_01: You know, they've got UNC at home who we think stinks.
- 43:33SPEAKER_01: That'll get him to five, and then they got four other games where they're gonna be dogs.
- 43:37SPEAKER_01: Um, did UVA let one get away this time?
- 43:40SPEAKER_01: Was it was I mean, what are your UVA takes?
- 43:42SPEAKER_02: Uh yeah, I think they I think they did.
- 43:44SPEAKER_02: I give their defense a lot of credit.
- 43:45SPEAKER_02: I mean, that's a pretty good Louisville.
- 43:47SPEAKER_02: Defense has got better than these four points.
- 43:49SPEAKER_02: Um, I you know, I I've kind of thought Louisville was a sneaky good team all year.
- 43:53SPEAKER_02: I like Tyler Shuck a lot.
- 43:55SPEAKER_02: I still and um yeah, UVA outgained them.
- 43:58SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, they they had it.
- 44:00SPEAKER_02: I don't I didn't get to watch the game, so I don't know what happened.
- 44:04SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, it wasn't sloppy, they didn't have any turnovers.
- 44:07SPEAKER_02: Um, so I think yeah, prime opportunity really just kind of slipped through, couldn't close the deal.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: Tough one for the Wahoos.
- 44:14SPEAKER_01: Uh, let's talk about our games.
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: Um, I'll do mine first.
- 44:18SPEAKER_01: Um, LSU defense is getting much better.
- 44:20SPEAKER_01: We win a crazy overtime game.
- 44:22SPEAKER_01: Garrett Nussmeyer probably has worst career day for LSU community 42 percent, but uh three touchdowns, two picks, drop back 51 times.
- 44:30SPEAKER_01: Uh, offensive line gave up zero sacks, so pass protection continues to be elite, which is great.
- 44:35SPEAKER_01: Um, came up with a way to win.
- 44:36SPEAKER_01: Um, the story for LSU fans for most.
- 44:39SPEAKER_01: LSU is the D I've other than other than the absolute nails, fourth and six, Aaron Anderson touchdown with 46 seconds left, and the Kyron Lacey overtime walk-off is the defense is getting better every single week, and people just are not talking about it.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: Uh held um old miss at 23 points, only nine points after half, including overtime.
- 44:58SPEAKER_01: Shut him down.
- 44:59SPEAKER_01: Um hard not to be bullocks, uh bullish on the defensive unit.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: Six sacks, nine tackles for logs, 11 pass defenses, pass defended.
- 45:08SPEAKER_01: We have three stars at each level in Brian Swinston, who's quickly developing to be one of the best pass rushers in the SEC.
- 45:14SPEAKER_01: Um, Zy Alexander, outstanding quarterback, Wit Weeks, the uh uh 18 tackles, uh just absolute stud.
- 45:21SPEAKER_01: And we're better without Harold Perkins, which is the craziest thing to think about this LSU defense.
- 45:27SPEAKER_01: Some of your thoughts are.
- 45:29SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I think the defense played really well.
- 45:32SPEAKER_02: Uh, he still couldn't run the ball uh another game without being able to run the ball, which for an offensive line that's played that good is kind of baffling.
- 45:40SPEAKER_02: Like Nussmeyer's getting a ton of time, he's got a clean pocket, he can sit back there all day if he wants, um, but only ran for like I don't have the stat in front of me, but it's 100 yards.
- 45:49SPEAKER_02: It was not like 56 yards with your leading rusher.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 45:52SPEAKER_02: Um, but did all that and still won the game.
- 45:57SPEAKER_02: Six sacks on defense.
- 45:58SPEAKER_02: So uh, you know, like where your head's at come with a with a defensive front making plays in the backfield and an offense that can that can move the ball through the air.
- 46:06SPEAKER_02: Maybe you don't have to get use the run game to get where you want to be.
- 46:10SPEAKER_02: Um, I just think it's hard to consistently win that game.
- 46:13SPEAKER_02: At some point, you're gonna need to pick up some short yardage.
- 46:16SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 46:16SPEAKER_01: Um we're our next three games are against teams that all three have outstanding physical fronts in Arkansas, AM, and Alabama.
- 46:22SPEAKER_01: All of them and Oklahoma and the season.
- 46:25SPEAKER_01: So, like, we are going to have to play some big boy football somewhere.
- 46:28SPEAKER_01: Obviously, Nelson Meyer is doing really well.
- 46:30SPEAKER_01: He's really the story overall of LSU's year, but like the run game's got to be there.
- 46:34SPEAKER_01: He did pull one, he converted on third and 14, which is the first time we've seen him scramble all year.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: Part of me thinks he's just not, he's on the seventh or eighth start, like he hasn't played that much football for LSU.
- 46:45SPEAKER_01: He's gaining confidence, he's not seeing when those lanes really open up yet.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: Like, and that just takes experience.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: He's also not taking the defense, gives you a lot.
- 46:54SPEAKER_01: He threw a lot of bombs to nobody.
- 46:57SPEAKER_01: Like, there were so many plays where it's like that check down's guy's there for eight yards, just get him the ball and let Aaron Anderson make somebody miss, like you know, let him break one.
- 47:06SPEAKER_01: And this is like the experience growth that we're seeing with uh Garrett Esmeyer.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Fun fact this one again, tell me how fun it is.
- 47:14SPEAKER_01: LSU was in the lead for zero seconds, did not lead at once the entire game, and got the victory.
- 47:22SPEAKER_01: How fun is that?
- 47:23SPEAKER_02: That is a really fun fact.
- 47:25SPEAKER_02: I actually love that fact.
- 47:26SPEAKER_02: That fact is more akin to booting up, you know, brand new PlayStation 5.
- 47:31SPEAKER_02: I have a fun fact.
- 47:32SPEAKER_02: That is fun, okay.
- 47:34SPEAKER_02: That is not so much fun as just embarrassing.
- 47:37SPEAKER_02: Ole Miss has 29 injury stoppages in their last three games.
- 47:42SPEAKER_03: That's a really fun fact.
- 47:43SPEAKER_02: Just flopping injuries left and right.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: 29.
- 47:47SPEAKER_01: For those who don't know what we're talking about, there's essentially a loophole in the rules where if a player goes down for injury, you can stop on a defensive player, they can essentially stop the clock and stop the play without getting charged a timeout.
- 47:56SPEAKER_01: And Lane Kiffin abuses the almighty Begisa of this rule.
- 48:00SPEAKER_01: It's gonna get fixed in the offseason.
- 48:01SPEAKER_01: One of these can be a there's gonna be a rule correction coming.
- 48:04SPEAKER_01: So they fake they fake injuries all the time, like literally guys who are just like standing there still, like, oh no, I've fallen again.
- 48:11SPEAKER_01: Oh no.
- 48:12SPEAKER_01: Um, so and he's really, really taken the rule to extreme.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: Um, and he's getting a ton of flack on the internet for it.
- 48:20SPEAKER_01: And he's finally because it's been happening for like three years.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: It's total bush league.
- 48:24SPEAKER_01: So uh really, really happy to get the win, walk off fashion.
- 48:28SPEAKER_01: I screamed when it when uh thus my threw the winner to Kyron Lacey.
- 48:31SPEAKER_01: Uh my neighbors got it on film, he was watching it with me.
- 48:34SPEAKER_01: I jumped up, I woke my kids up, it was totally worth it.
- 48:37SPEAKER_01: Loved every minute of it, so that's great news.
- 48:38SPEAKER_01: Uh, all right, let's talk about um uh Tennessee, Florida.
- 48:41SPEAKER_01: Congrats on the win.
- 48:42SPEAKER_01: This is a game that has given Tennessee fits like crazy, and a win's a win.
- 48:47SPEAKER_01: Absolute rock fight.
- 48:49SPEAKER_01: Uh, for the first, you know what?
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: This is your game.
- 48:50SPEAKER_01: You go ahead, intro us.
- 48:52SPEAKER_01: What do we got?
- 48:53SPEAKER_02: Yeah, again, Tennessee's offense slow out of the gate.
- 48:57SPEAKER_02: Um, just for me, what I'm realizing with this team is you just gotta be happy with a win and hope that things are going to get better.
- 49:07SPEAKER_02: And um, right now, all you have to do is win your games with the way that the current playoff system works.
- 49:14SPEAKER_02: Um, it's not a beauty pageant anymore.
- 49:16SPEAKER_02: You don't have to try to get in the good graces of the BCS.
- 49:20SPEAKER_02: It's just win your games, win the team that's in front of you on that Saturday, and it's gonna work itself out.
- 49:26SPEAKER_02: Uh, and and we we were just hoping to see some improvement, you know.
- 49:29SPEAKER_02: Um, our defense is elite.
- 49:32SPEAKER_02: Our defense is continues to put us in in good situations.
- 49:36SPEAKER_02: Uh, can't can't say enough about them.
- 49:39SPEAKER_02: Um, also, Billy Napier, really bad.
- 49:42SPEAKER_02: He's a bad football coach.
- 49:43SPEAKER_01: He's a bad football coach.
- 49:44SPEAKER_01: All right, that was a great intro.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: I agree with everything you said.
- 49:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, a couple takeaways that I had.
- 49:49SPEAKER_01: Um, my first thing is like, I cannot believe Billy Napier didn't go for two to end the game.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: He was a 15 and a half point dog on the road in Mayland.
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: He knew his team is not, was not, will not be better than that volunteer team.
- 50:03SPEAKER_01: You had him on the ropes, you had a chance to steal the win, and he didn't do it.
- 50:06SPEAKER_01: I can't believe he thought going clicking over time and going to overtime was his best chance.
- 50:12SPEAKER_01: Like, that is why you are gonna lose your job, you idiot.
- 50:15SPEAKER_02: Idiot idiot.
- 50:16SPEAKER_02: Not only did he mismanage that situation, he mismanaged a field goal at the end of the first half that resulted in a too many men on the field, 10 second runoff.
- 50:25SPEAKER_02: I missed this.
- 50:26SPEAKER_02: Take it into halftime.
- 50:29SPEAKER_02: They were lined up to kick a field goal at the end of the half.
- 50:32SPEAKER_02: Too many men on the field, no timeouts.
- 50:35SPEAKER_02: See you next half.
- 50:36SPEAKER_02: Yeah, he's he's done.
- 50:37SPEAKER_01: He's he's done.
- 50:38SPEAKER_01: I just can't believe it.
- 50:39SPEAKER_01: So Florida had a golden opportunity to steal one to honestly save his job and didn't do it.
- 50:44SPEAKER_01: Uh, good for him.
- 50:45SPEAKER_01: So, my Tennessee thoughts.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: I have no concerns about Tennessee's defense anymore.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: Whatever we were talking about in the secondary preseason, that is over.
- 50:51SPEAKER_01: Those guys are players, they are doing great things.
- 50:54SPEAKER_01: Run game continues to be awesome.
- 50:55SPEAKER_01: Dylan Sampson is my favorite ball.
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: I said that back in August.
- 50:58SPEAKER_01: That's one of my better takes that has done really well.
- 51:00SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna keep riding that one through the year.
- 51:03SPEAKER_01: We have a weird conundrum with our offensive lines.
- 51:06SPEAKER_01: Your offensive line is outstanding at run blocking, not good at pass blocking, is what I think is happening.
- 51:12SPEAKER_01: My offensive line is outstanding at pass blocking, and we can't run block to save our life.
- 51:18SPEAKER_01: I think you and I both agree that Nico has to get better for them to be win the national championship, which of course is the goal.
- 51:23SPEAKER_01: That is what we're all trying to hope for.
- 51:25SPEAKER_01: He's not there yet.
- 51:26SPEAKER_01: He could get there next six weeks, but that's what we're going for.
- 51:28SPEAKER_01: But now, the more I watch that game, the more I'm kind of what what I think I'm seeing, it's not just him.
- 51:34SPEAKER_01: Um, pass protection protection.
- 51:35SPEAKER_01: Not at all.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: Not at all.
- 51:36SPEAKER_01: It's I mean, and honestly, I'll be I'll be frank.
- 51:38SPEAKER_01: The first point I kind of thought the woes were Nico's, they're they're not all his pass protection is a real problem for Tennessee.
- 51:45SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't know if Lance Hurd is as good as I thought he was.
- 51:48SPEAKER_01: Um, I know there's been some injuries, and it's pass was an issue.
- 51:52SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't think Tennessee has a legit game breaker, Cedric Tillman, Jalen Hyatt type guy in the white.
- 51:59SPEAKER_01: I really like Brue McCoy.
- 52:00SPEAKER_01: I really like Squirrel White.
- 52:01SPEAKER_01: Those guys are upper half SEC wide receivers who have done great things and have great Vol careers.
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: I don't think anybody currently in the Tennessee's wide receiver room is a half to double team, half like Jalen Hyatt was.
- 52:13SPEAKER_01: And I wonder if he's missing, I'm wondering if Nico's missing like his go-to number one trust the guy kind of thing.
- 52:20SPEAKER_01: So I think Nico's problems are kind of more about a lot of things happening more around him than just him.
- 52:25SPEAKER_01: What do you think about those takes?
- 52:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think it all starts up front.
- 52:29SPEAKER_02: Um I've I've seen him play really well.
- 52:33SPEAKER_02: I've seen him, I've seen him be good with his eyes, good with his feet.
- 52:36SPEAKER_02: I've seen him deliver balls that few quarterbacks in the country can can can make.
- 52:42SPEAKER_02: Um, and then I've seen his feet square up and open his hips up, and he's not his eyes are coming down, and he's not seeing seeing the field, and it's all because of protection.
- 52:53SPEAKER_02: He's gun shy back there.
- 52:54SPEAKER_02: He's he's quick, he's looking at first reads, he's not he doesn't have time to go through his progressions.
- 53:00SPEAKER_02: Uh the offensive line is really hampering his growth as a young quarterback, and it's not an easy fix.
- 53:06SPEAKER_02: You can only scheme around that so much.
- 53:08SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, wide receiver, maybe there's something to that.
- 53:12SPEAKER_02: Um, he's still, you know, it's got to start at the line for me.
- 53:17SPEAKER_02: Um, we've got good enough wide receivers that they are good, they're not bad by any means.
- 53:22SPEAKER_01: They're they are good.
- 53:23SPEAKER_01: Um I'm you know, there's no, I don't know if there's an elite guy as well as trying to say, but yeah, sorry, go ahead.
- 53:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah, they're just gonna continue to try to scheme through this offensive line problem.
- 53:30SPEAKER_02: I don't know if Lance Heard is still injured.
- 53:32SPEAKER_02: He's missed a lot of time preseason.
- 53:34SPEAKER_02: He missed a couple games um earlier in the season.
- 53:37SPEAKER_02: I don't know if he's out of shape or if his ankle's still bothering him, uh, but it really does start at the tackle position for us.
- 53:44SPEAKER_02: And you know, we'll see.
- 53:45SPEAKER_02: Just got to hope that continues to get better.
- 53:47SPEAKER_02: Lean on defense, lean on run game, scheme up a couple plays, which they're still doing.
- 53:52SPEAKER_02: They missed on two, three defaults that should have been hit that would have changed the whole complexion of that game.
- 53:57SPEAKER_02: So you hit a couple of those against Alabama, we'll see.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: You know, and the whole Nico name.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: I actually saw somebody on Twitter put together a nice little thread of like seven balls that were like maybe one or two Nico missed kind of, but they were they were catchable, they were catchable balls.
- 54:10SPEAKER_01: There were six or seven passes that Nico threw to a guy who was open or at least a little bit open, so they couldn't make a play that didn't turn it.
- 54:16SPEAKER_01: And you're right, if half of those convert, you're talking about a different experience, especially that long bomb early in the game, which I think you and I are both talking about.
- 54:23SPEAKER_01: Um, but whatever.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: A win is a win.
- 54:25SPEAKER_01: You beat Florida.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: Congrats, man.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: That's awesome.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: I feel the same way about Ole Miss.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: We beat him.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: We got the win.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: They did not.
- 54:31SPEAKER_01: So onward.
- 54:32SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 54:33SPEAKER_01: Speaking of which, let's move on to week eight because we have a lot of good games to get to.
- 54:36SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're gonna, as you know, we're gonna talk about some picks.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: We're gonna put together the Mike Blitz bet of the week.
- 54:40SPEAKER_01: Unfortunately, Kim was uh short last week.
- 54:43SPEAKER_01: It's all right, we're gonna get back, we're gonna win a ton of money this week.
- 54:46SPEAKER_01: Uh, number six, Miami, minus four and a half points at Louisville over is over under is 61 and a half.
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: I think this is a great spot for Louisville.
- 54:55SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm I think Miami is on major on fraud watch.
- 55:00SPEAKER_01: Um, I think Jeff Brahms' really good.
- 55:02SPEAKER_01: I think Cory Brooks' really good.
- 55:03SPEAKER_01: Um, things Louisville has come up short in their losses against SNU and Notre Dame, two really good teams.
- 55:08SPEAKER_01: Um, I don't think Meyer Cristobal is that good a coach on the road.
- 55:12SPEAKER_01: Give me Louisville uh taking the points.
- 55:14SPEAKER_01: I was like Louisville to cover.
- 55:15SPEAKER_02: What do you got?
- 55:16SPEAKER_02: See, I gotta disagree with you.
- 55:18SPEAKER_02: I think this is a game that um that Miami shows why they're so good.
- 55:23SPEAKER_02: I think um Cam Ward takes over.
- 55:27SPEAKER_02: You know, Louisville has just kind of been puttering along, um, and they're just not gonna be able to put up as enough points for uh this to be a tight ball game.
- 55:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, you think you think crystal ball is gonna be able to cook if it gets loud in Louisville and Papa John's team, what it is, I think it's a pizza guy's place.
- 55:43SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know, man.
- 55:44SPEAKER_01: I just like I guess I just have no faith in Crystal Ball as a game day coach.
- 55:48SPEAKER_01: All right, we disagree.
- 55:49SPEAKER_01: We're not gonna bet that one disagree.
- 55:50SPEAKER_01: Number five, Georgia at number one, Texas, Texas, a three and a half point favorite over unders 55 points.
- 55:55SPEAKER_01: Um, two things.
- 55:56SPEAKER_01: One, I like the under, which I get on board with.
- 55:58SPEAKER_01: Two, Georgia's gonna win this game outright.
- 56:01SPEAKER_01: Let me tell you why.
- 56:02SPEAKER_01: What Texas is this week, despite being home, is what Ohio State was last week.
- 56:08SPEAKER_01: Who is the best quarterback Texas has faced this year?
- 56:11SPEAKER_01: Do you off top your head?
- 56:12SPEAKER_01: Do you have any idea?
- 56:15SPEAKER_01: No, that would be the gentleman from Colorado State.
- 56:18SPEAKER_01: They have played no offenses and no quarterback worth a damn.
- 56:22SPEAKER_01: I credit for beating Michigan and Oklahoma.
- 56:24SPEAKER_01: Those are two blue blood, beautiful helmet programs.
- 56:26SPEAKER_01: Their offenses are atrocious.
- 56:29SPEAKER_01: Georgia, Georgia is an outstanding team with outstanding talent at every position.
- 56:33SPEAKER_01: That's not debatable.
- 56:34SPEAKER_01: Kirby Smart, for my money, is still the best coach in college football today.
- 56:38SPEAKER_01: That could change today.
- 56:40SPEAKER_01: They are their backs are against the wall after that Alabama loss.
- 56:44SPEAKER_01: Texas, riding high, obviously, they're the number one.
- 56:47SPEAKER_01: Nothing is arrogant quite like Texas is arrogant.
- 56:50SPEAKER_01: They just plastered their greatest, their biggest, largest rival.
- 56:54SPEAKER_01: Nobody has a bigger head right now than Texas football.
- 56:57SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying they shouldn't, they probably should.
- 56:58SPEAKER_01: They're an excellent football team, and everything has been roses.
- 57:01SPEAKER_01: This is the moment, man.
- 57:03SPEAKER_01: Georgia is going to remind everybody who they are and what they're all about.
- 57:07SPEAKER_01: I got Georgia winning this game outright.
- 57:09SPEAKER_01: I'm not even worried about the points.
- 57:10SPEAKER_01: Give me the Georgia win.
- 57:12SPEAKER_02: So, what are the points?
- 57:14SPEAKER_02: Texas uh three and a half and a half.
- 57:15SPEAKER_01: Texas, Texas minus three and a half at home.
- 57:17SPEAKER_02: I'm so I'm really excited for this one.
- 57:19SPEAKER_02: I think it's going to be a really good game.
- 57:20SPEAKER_02: Um, I still think that Texas is a more explosive offense than Georgia.
- 57:25SPEAKER_02: I think Georgia has shown more vulnerability this year than Texas.
- 57:29SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they have.
- 57:30SPEAKER_02: Um, you know, I everyone's giving them a ton of credit, as they should, for coming back and making that a good game against Bama and almost pulling it off.
- 57:38SPEAKER_02: Carson Beck redeemed himself in a lot of people's eyes with the way they played down the stretch, but I still like Texas to win this one.
- 57:45SPEAKER_01: Texas is in a win.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 57:47SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 57:47SPEAKER_01: So we're disagreeing on that one too.
- 57:48SPEAKER_01: Uh low scoring affair, high scoring affair, 55 points.
- 57:52SPEAKER_02: Um, I think it gets, I think, I think there's some points put up.
- 57:55SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 57:55SPEAKER_02: I'm gonna go on the higher side of that.
- 57:56SPEAKER_01: Oh man, we're just disregarding everything.
- 57:58SPEAKER_01: Okay, we are we are disagreeing.
- 57:59SPEAKER_01: Everything so far.
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: Let's keep it rolling.
- 58:00SPEAKER_01: All right, Nebraska at number 16, Indiana.
- 58:02SPEAKER_01: These are two of like just everyone's favorite Big Ten teams this year, both excellent stories.
- 58:07SPEAKER_01: Uh, Indiana is a five and a half point favorite over under 51 and a half.
- 58:11SPEAKER_01: Um, I'm I I got Nebraska coming off a bye, feeling good, feeling themselves, feeling the vibe.
- 58:16SPEAKER_01: Going to Indiana and get a win.
- 58:17SPEAKER_01: Indiana looked really vulnerable against uh Northwestern, I think it was early this year.
- 58:21SPEAKER_01: I like Kirk Signetti.
- 58:23SPEAKER_01: I like JMU West.
- 58:24SPEAKER_01: I like what they're doing.
- 58:25SPEAKER_01: Um, I think Nebraska's better.
- 58:27SPEAKER_01: I don't know why they're dogs.
- 58:28SPEAKER_01: I got uh Nebraska, I got Nebraska and the points uh in Bloomington.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: What do you got?
- 58:34SPEAKER_02: Uh I like the Hoosiers, man.
- 58:36SPEAKER_02: Give me the Hoosiers at home.
- 58:38SPEAKER_02: Holy shit.
- 58:39SPEAKER_02: Okay.
- 58:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 58:40SPEAKER_02: I I just think um as much as I love Nebraska, and I'd love to pick him to win.
- 58:44SPEAKER_02: I think Hoosier's got a little something going on.
- 58:46SPEAKER_02: I think it's gonna be a tight game.
- 58:47SPEAKER_02: What'd you say the spread was?
- 58:48SPEAKER_01: Five and a half.
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: Move to six and a half.
- 58:49SPEAKER_01: So Vegas likes Indiana too.
- 58:51SPEAKER_01: So I'm I'm I'm I'm in, I'm I'm peeing in the win.
- 58:54SPEAKER_01: You've you've got the bet, you got the wind of your sales.
- 58:56SPEAKER_02: Yeah, give me the Hoosiers coverage.
- 58:57SPEAKER_01: High scoring gate, 51 and a half.
- 58:59SPEAKER_01: I feel that total.
- 59:00SPEAKER_01: Any interest in that?
- 59:02SPEAKER_02: Yeah, let's go, let's go over on that.
- 59:04SPEAKER_02: That's what my bet.
- 59:05SPEAKER_02: I think over, yeah.
- 59:06SPEAKER_01: God, I think under.
- 59:07SPEAKER_01: I think it's gonna be a classic Big Ten slugfest.
- 59:09SPEAKER_01: God, all right, keep moving.
- 59:10SPEAKER_01: All right, this could be a weak bet this week.
- 59:12SPEAKER_01: All right, Colorado at zona, Arizona three and a half point favorite 56 and a half point point uh 60 and a half 56 and a half points.
- 59:19SPEAKER_01: Both these teams are really flawed, but they all both do one thing well, and that's pass the ball to their incredible wideouts, no fafita to Tet McMillan, and of course, uh uh Shadur Sanders to Travis Hunter and Jimmy Horn.
- 59:33SPEAKER_01: Um, I got Colorado winning this game.
- 59:35SPEAKER_01: I think Colorado is better than people think they are.
- 59:37SPEAKER_01: Finally, I got Colorado.
- 59:39SPEAKER_01: So are we taking the points?
- 59:41SPEAKER_01: Are we taking the points?
- 59:41SPEAKER_01: Are we taking them to win outright?
- 59:43SPEAKER_01: I think they win outright.
- 59:44SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 59:44SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 59:45SPEAKER_01: We'll take the money line.
- 59:45SPEAKER_01: Yes, all right.
- 59:46SPEAKER_01: We're taking Colorado money line.
- 59:47SPEAKER_01: Uh, we have an agreement.
- 59:49SPEAKER_01: Um, I just think Arizona just doesn't have the firepower.
- 59:52SPEAKER_01: No, and they Colorado's gonna get some points.
- 59:53SPEAKER_01: They looked abysmal against BYU as well.
- 59:55SPEAKER_01: And actually, uh Colorado's defense is better without Shiloh.
- 59:59SPEAKER_01: It sounds like Shiloh is hurt, so I think Colorado defense is gonna play better as well.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_01: And Arizona hasn't really stopped anybody, um, including some lower level teams.
- 1:00:06SPEAKER_01: So this might be a game where Colorado just scores a lot of points.
- 1:00:10SPEAKER_01: And I I'm I every time I watch Shader Sanders, I'm just higher and higher on the guy.
- 1:00:14SPEAKER_01: He's really frigging good, and he's getting mocked in like top five in a lot of NFL draft picks.
- 1:00:19SPEAKER_01: So, like, I I think I'd ride him.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_01: So, all right, Colorado Money line, first play.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: Excellent.
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_01: Okie state, uh at number 13, BYU.
- 1:00:27SPEAKER_01: BYU is an eight and a half point favorite.
- 1:00:29SPEAKER_01: Look, BYU is undefeated, and uh Oklahoma State, we kind of left for dead.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_01: Oh, it moved nine and a half.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_01: Great.
- 1:00:37SPEAKER_01: This is the game they get together.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_01: They benched Alan Bowman, they've got a guy named Jake Wrangle, like to call Jake Wrangler, Drangler jeans, uh, is their new quarterback.
- 1:00:46SPEAKER_01: So shot in the arm, back up quarterback coming in for Oklahoma State.
- 1:00:49SPEAKER_01: They're still like lead the country in a returning production, they've got guys everywhere, and they still have Ollie Gordon, who's one of our favorite running backs.
- 1:00:57SPEAKER_01: This is the game where Mike Gundy reminds us why he's been in that job for 20 years.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_01: Give me Oakie State to cover the eight and a half on the road.
- 1:01:07SPEAKER_01: Just to cover.
- 1:01:08SPEAKER_01: Just to cover, eight and a half.
- 1:01:09SPEAKER_01: More than two.
- 1:01:10SPEAKER_02: All right, you convinced me.
- 1:01:11SPEAKER_02: Okay, all right.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_01: Okie state.
- 1:01:12SPEAKER_02: I was gonna go, boy.
- 1:01:13SPEAKER_02: I was gonna go BYU.
- 1:01:14SPEAKER_02: Um, because I even though I don't think they're good, something is wrong with Oklahoma State this year.
- 1:01:19SPEAKER_02: And even with L.
- 1:01:20SPEAKER_02: Gordon, they haven't been able to run the ball.
- 1:01:22SPEAKER_02: Um no, this is I'm gonna go with you.
- 1:01:25SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go with your gun.
- 1:01:26SPEAKER_02: Thank you.
- 1:01:27SPEAKER_01: This is a bet on them showing us something we haven't seen yet.
- 1:01:30SPEAKER_01: I just like the returning production.
- 1:01:32SPEAKER_02: Not a usually a good play, usually not a good position.
- 1:01:34SPEAKER_01: But like, I also like I don't think BYU is that good.
- 1:01:36SPEAKER_01: I think Kick Retzlaff is everything for them.
- 1:01:37SPEAKER_01: And like beyond that, it's a bunch of like three-star at best athletes running around who are playing sound football and are well coached and all those things.
- 1:01:45SPEAKER_01: But like that's true.
- 1:01:46SPEAKER_01: That's nothing about there's nothing about BYU that's next level.
- 1:01:49SPEAKER_01: Nothing.
- 1:01:50SPEAKER_01: So I think BYU is actually gonna lose.
- 1:01:52SPEAKER_01: They're a nice story, they're a really nice story.
- 1:01:54SPEAKER_01: I just don't think they're that good.
- 1:01:55SPEAKER_01: So Oklahoma State finds something, finds that preseason magic.
- 1:01:59SPEAKER_01: Mike Gundy time, Okie State plus eight and a half.
- 1:02:02SPEAKER_01: All right, moving on.
- 1:02:03SPEAKER_01: Uh, Kentucky at Florida.
- 1:02:05SPEAKER_01: Florida is a two and a half point favorites, which means really a pick'em.
- 1:02:08SPEAKER_01: Uh, I saw that Graham Ertz is out for the year.
- 1:02:10SPEAKER_01: He tore his ACL.
- 1:02:11SPEAKER_01: So it is it is DJ Lagway season for the rest of the way.
- 1:02:15SPEAKER_01: Oh, the spread is moved now.
- 1:02:16SPEAKER_01: It's Florida plus one, Kentucky minus one.
- 1:02:19SPEAKER_01: Kentucky is a one-point favor on the road.
- 1:02:21SPEAKER_01: Wow, it's a big line move.
- 1:02:22SPEAKER_01: That must have been after the um Graham Ertz uh assignment.
- 1:02:27SPEAKER_01: Former SEC East um powers that you know these teams better than I do.
- 1:02:31SPEAKER_01: What do you what's your read?
- 1:02:32SPEAKER_02: Kentucky always plays Florida tough, it's always a weird game.
- 1:02:36SPEAKER_02: They're they play Florida tough at Florida, so um, it's kind of hard to predict, but seeing after watching Florida firsthand, they still have a lot of talent on the field.
- 1:02:44SPEAKER_02: I think what they did with Graham Mertz, they were able to run a little bit more of a sophisticated offense than they can run with Lagway, but he's still a heck of an athlete.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_02: He's got a hose for an arm, and they're at home.
- 1:02:55SPEAKER_02: I like the gators.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_02: Gators to win outright?
- 1:02:59SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 1:03:00SPEAKER_01: Gators to win outright.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_01: Okay, I'm just gonna go, I'm gonna, I'm just gonna ride with you.
- 1:03:03SPEAKER_01: Um, that seems like a good one.
- 1:03:05SPEAKER_01: Get the home win, DJ Lagway.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_01: Little uh um yeah, okay, let's do it.
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_01: Oklahoma State.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 1:03:13SPEAKER_01: Uh so far we've got uh Florida to win, Oklahoma State money line, and the Colorado money line.
- 1:03:20SPEAKER_01: Good stuff.
- 1:03:21SPEAKER_01: All right, uh Homer time.
- 1:03:22SPEAKER_01: Uh UVA at Clemson.
- 1:03:24SPEAKER_01: We can't bet on it, we'll just talk about it anyway.
- 1:03:26SPEAKER_01: Clemson's a 20 and a half point favorite, 57 uh point and a half points over under.
- 1:03:31SPEAKER_01: Um, I like UVA to cover, play close, play plucky ball, keep it competitive.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_01: Although Clemson's also been just like a walking zombie, just murdering people, so that could happen too.
- 1:03:40SPEAKER_01: Um, give me your UVA Clemson thoughts.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I would have uh had we had if we had the ability to play this game, I would take UVA to cover.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_02: I mean, 28 is just a big number, and they've been pretty resilient.
- 1:03:51SPEAKER_02: They're they're playing pretty good football.
- 1:03:52SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, maybe Clemson wins by 24.
- 1:03:55SPEAKER_01: But oh, sorry, my apologies 20, 20 and a half.
- 1:03:58SPEAKER_01: So Clemson, let me close it up.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, three touchdowns.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 1:04:02SPEAKER_01: All right, cool.
- 1:04:03SPEAKER_01: Uh Thursday, Thursday night, left Thursday night games that matter.
- 1:04:06SPEAKER_01: Um, uh Virginia Boston College at Virginia Tech.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_01: Virginia Tech uh Blackbirds getting they're getting a touchdown, minus seven over under is 15 and a half.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_01: They're coming off a bye, they are arrested.
- 1:04:16SPEAKER_01: This is a game they are favoring, they gotta have.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_01: Virginia Tech has now done played really good ball for three weeks.
- 1:04:23SPEAKER_01: I'm I'm going, I got the Hokies with momentum.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_01: They win, they cover.
- 1:04:28SPEAKER_01: Um, I love Thomas Castellanos and the fighting rob reads of of Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, Boston College having a good year.
- 1:04:34SPEAKER_01: But I think this is was the hookies are beginning to ascend.
- 1:04:37SPEAKER_01: Give me the hookies to cover.
- 1:04:39SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think this is a timing game.
- 1:04:40SPEAKER_02: You know, hookies coming off a bye.
- 1:04:43SPEAKER_02: Um, I think they, you know, it's a Thursday, Thursday night game.
- 1:04:46SPEAKER_02: Yeah, so have everyone's everyone's gonna be nuts.
- 1:04:48SPEAKER_02: Yeah, it's gonna be good.
- 1:04:49SPEAKER_01: I like the hookies in that spot.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: Very cool.
- 1:04:51SPEAKER_01: All right, let's see your game.
- 1:04:52SPEAKER_01: Number seven, Bama, the third Saturday in October, T Sio, which is a historic game, involves cigars, all concentration, wonderful college football pageantry.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_01: One of the things that makes college football great.
- 1:05:01SPEAKER_01: Um, they uh number seven Bama, they are one and a half point favorites, although I'm gonna tech check that right now.
- 1:05:07SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure what the uh oh that's moved a little bit.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_01: It's Alabama minus three on DraftKings.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_01: Um uh the over-under is 56 and a half.
- 1:05:16SPEAKER_01: Um, this is your game, sir.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_01: You tell me.
- 1:05:19SPEAKER_02: Yeah, this is a complete matchup game.
- 1:05:22SPEAKER_02: Um, when you look at Alabama, you know, their ability to hit splash plays, uh, throw the ball, uh, but surprisingly, have struggled running the ball.
- 1:05:30SPEAKER_02: It's complete opposite against Tennessee, or for Tennessee, uh, you know, obviously struggling with some some plays down the field, but ability to lean on the run.
- 1:05:38SPEAKER_02: Um, Tennessee also stops the ball on the ground and Bama can't run.
- 1:05:43SPEAKER_02: He can get off the quarterback.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_02: This is all gonna fall on on the quarterbacks for this this game.
- 1:05:48SPEAKER_02: You know, does Jalen Milrow look like the Jalen Milro against Georgia?
- 1:05:52SPEAKER_02: Or does he look like he has the last two weeks?
- 1:05:55SPEAKER_02: Uh and can Nico Imaliava show us that he's growing and can the offensive line protect him?
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_02: Uh, you know, it's in Nealand, which which gives me that edge.
- 1:06:06SPEAKER_02: It's going to be electric.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_02: It's gonna be crazy.
- 1:06:10SPEAKER_02: Um, I think Tennessee finds a way.
- 1:06:12SPEAKER_02: I think they find a way.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_02: They're they're growing enough week to week, they're they're figuring it out.
- 1:06:16SPEAKER_02: And as bad as they've looked at times, I know that the potential is still there.
- 1:06:21SPEAKER_02: Um, so yeah, uh, I'm gonna take the vols.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_02: Got to.
- 1:06:25SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm one, I'm with you on the vols.
- 1:06:27SPEAKER_01: We're taking the vols money line.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_01: Love that for us.
- 1:06:29SPEAKER_01: Very excited about that.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_01: Um, because I mean, Tennessee is a high floor, is a high floor team.
- 1:06:35SPEAKER_01: Outstanding run game, outstanding defense, rabid home crowd.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_01: Albany.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_01: Defense has been getting gashed by teams that without great offenses, like South Carolina.
- 1:06:45SPEAKER_01: South Carolina's offense is not great.
- 1:06:47SPEAKER_01: Tennessee's offense is better than them.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_01: They're playing in Nayland.
- 1:06:50SPEAKER_01: This is a game that Tennessee has circled on the calendar.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_01: Every year they are going to be up for it.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_01: Kalen Bohr is starting to show cracks.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_01: This team is not great.
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_01: Jalen Milrow is kind of in a well, Ryan Williams is down there somewhere.
- 1:07:03SPEAKER_01: Tennessee's going to match up with that.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_01: And they're, and I don't think um Alabama's able to run the ball that well.
- 1:07:08SPEAKER_01: I got Alabama losing or Tennessee winning.
- 1:07:11SPEAKER_01: I also have the under for six and a half.
- 1:07:13SPEAKER_01: I think this is a close game.
- 1:07:14SPEAKER_01: I think Tennessee's going to win like 20 to 17.
- 1:07:17SPEAKER_01: So I'm thinking maybe we take out Tennessee to win and the under.
- 1:07:20SPEAKER_01: You with me on that?
- 1:07:23SPEAKER_02: I think so.
- 1:07:24SPEAKER_02: Um the only thing that gives me pause is that Alabama's secondary is very suspect.
- 1:07:30SPEAKER_02: And this could be a matchup situation where the light turns on, they let Nico chuck a few up, and we come down with a couple and you know blow up that that that that under.
- 1:07:42SPEAKER_02: And Bama has to play catch up.
- 1:07:44SPEAKER_02: And so you get a couple big plays from Milro.
- 1:07:47SPEAKER_02: So I don't know.
- 1:07:48SPEAKER_02: I'm not sold on the under, but if you feel strongly about it, I'm with you.
- 1:07:51SPEAKER_01: All right, let's do it.
- 1:07:52SPEAKER_01: We're doing Tennessee Undersood.
- 1:07:53SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 1:07:54SPEAKER_01: All right, good stuff.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 1:07:55SPEAKER_01: Last game.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_01: We have to get out of here.
- 1:07:57SPEAKER_01: We're running long.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_01: I know.
- 1:07:58SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much for listening.
- 1:07:59SPEAKER_01: Number eight, Tennessee.
- 1:08:00SPEAKER_01: Uh, I'm sorry, number eight, LSU.
- 1:08:02SPEAKER_01: And I think we are two and a half point favorites.
- 1:08:05SPEAKER_01: We're minus three.
- 1:08:06SPEAKER_01: It's moved a little bit.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_01: That's good for us.
- 1:08:07SPEAKER_01: Uh LSU minus three at Arkansas, uh, over under is 50 and 55 and a half.
- 1:08:13SPEAKER_01: So this is a classic can you stay up game for LSU?
- 1:08:18SPEAKER_01: Um, obviously, massive emotional win.
- 1:08:20SPEAKER_01: Uh, old miss.
- 1:08:22SPEAKER_01: We had all these celebrities there.
- 1:08:23SPEAKER_01: We rushed the field, we got the win in overtime.
- 1:08:25SPEAKER_01: Um, Arkansas gives teams fits.
- 1:08:28SPEAKER_01: We've lost this game to Arkansas in years past.
- 1:08:30SPEAKER_01: What Arkansas does well this year is they pass rush.
- 1:08:34SPEAKER_01: We happen to be really, really, really good at brushing the pass.
- 1:08:37SPEAKER_01: What we don't do really well is defend the pass.
- 1:08:39SPEAKER_01: We had some questions secondary.
- 1:08:41SPEAKER_01: Talon Green is not a good thrower.
- 1:08:44SPEAKER_01: Our linebacker play has gotten much better.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_01: We've gotten really good at slowing down the run, including containing.
- 1:08:49SPEAKER_01: Uh, we're gonna I'm assuming we're gonna do a lot of quarterback spy on Talon Green this this coming week.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_01: LSU wins, LSU covers, probably not by a lot, probably by seven or ten.
- 1:08:59SPEAKER_01: Um, just because this is a matchup problem for Arkansas.
- 1:09:02SPEAKER_01: Obviously, playing in Fayetteville is tough for us, tough place to play.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_01: Tennessee fans know that.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_01: LSU fans know that.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_01: Everyone knows that.
- 1:09:07SPEAKER_01: Um, but for matchups for what they do well, what we do well, we neutralize it really well.
- 1:09:12SPEAKER_01: I got LSU winning by seven or ten points.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_02: Um, yeah, I do think this is a very scary spot for LSU going to Arkansas, coming off of an emotional win where it took everything you had.
- 1:09:24SPEAKER_02: I also think Arkansas's defense might present some interesting matchups where you're thinking about the D line and the offensive line matchup.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_02: I'm thinking about more of the secondary.
- 1:09:33SPEAKER_02: They are doing a lot of things to confuse quarterbacks, and uh, you know, a couple turnovers could really swing this game uh in their favor.
- 1:09:41SPEAKER_02: Uh, I still like LSU to win, but um, I I much prefer the over-under.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_02: I like the under in this one.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_02: I think it's a kind of a gritty, a little bit of a letdown spot for LSU.
- 1:09:53SPEAKER_02: Um, would you say the over-under was 55 and a half?
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_02: Yes.
- 1:09:57SPEAKER_02: Yeah, I think I like the under there.
- 1:09:59SPEAKER_01: All right, so you're not from not playing the spread, you're talking you, but you want to play you want to play the under.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_02: That's my I feel stronger about that than I do LSU covering two and a half.
- 1:10:07SPEAKER_01: 55 and a half.
- 1:10:09SPEAKER_01: I mean, but well, that doesn't imply.
- 1:10:10SPEAKER_02: Give me LSU.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_02: There we go.
- 1:10:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah, there we go.
- 1:10:13SPEAKER_01: All right, good stuff.
- 1:10:14SPEAKER_01: Okay, so here's what we're doing.
- 1:10:15SPEAKER_01: We're doing Colorado.
- 1:10:16SPEAKER_01: I find actually we can't do both because reference got weird world.
- 1:10:19SPEAKER_01: So we're doing Colorado money line plus 136, Florida money line minus 105, Oklahoma State plus nine and a half minus 108, Tennessee money line plus 120, LSU minus three, minus 105, a ten dollar bet nets you$380.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_01: Not bad.
- 1:10:34SPEAKER_01: That's not a bad play.
- 1:10:35SPEAKER_01: It's bad.
- 1:10:36SPEAKER_01: I mean, compared to the$1,700 that we won three weeks ago, yes, it is bad.
- 1:10:40SPEAKER_01: But with only for only five plays, that's not so bad.
- 1:10:42SPEAKER_01: We'll post this on the Discord, we'll post this on socials.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_01: Be sure to tail us and get those five wins.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_01: Free money, Mike and I are geniuses.
- 1:10:48SPEAKER_01: Uh, you're just gonna be we're gonna win.
- 1:10:49SPEAKER_01: You're gonna be so sad that you missed out on that.
- 1:10:51SPEAKER_01: So don't do that.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_01: Tail us, get paid.
- 1:10:53SPEAKER_01: Uh all right, it's time for us to get out of here.
- 1:10:55SPEAKER_01: We've been chit chatting too long.
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_01: Uh, anything else for the good of the order uh before we get out of here?
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_01: No, let's go get some dubs.
- 1:11:01SPEAKER_01: Yeah, let's get some dubs.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_01: We both need them.
- 1:11:02SPEAKER_01: It's a big week for the LSU um and the Vols and our beloved UVA fighting tie, UVA Wahoos, and uh Virginia cookies.
- 1:11:09SPEAKER_01: Uh, thank you so much for listening, folks.
- 1:11:11SPEAKER_01: Mike Blitz, join the Discord, it's free.

- 1:11:35SPEAKER_01: Run through a wall.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited about it.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_00: Hollywood goes.
- 1:11:41SPEAKER_01: Been a good year so far.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_01: Really good year.
- 1:11:44SPEAKER_01: Really good year.
- 1:11:46SPEAKER_00: Hey Hollywood, hey Hollywood Go.
- 1:11:48SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna go do T-ball, which is not exactly the thing, but you know, kind of thing.
