- 0:10Speaker 1: Wait true insurance? Did I true? I'm a check up
- 0:14Speaker 1: with chance?
- 0:15Speaker 2: Get a true? Than is Adam?
- 0:31Speaker 1: Hey, everybody, welcome to Conspiracy The Show. I'm your host,
- 0:36Speaker 1: Adam Todd Brown joining me as co host. Connor mcspadden
- 0:40Speaker 1: is in the trap. How's it going, man, I'm resigning
- 0:42Speaker 1: from this podcast out of principle. That makes sense. I
- 0:46Speaker 1: would do the same, but then it would just collapse
- 0:49Speaker 1: under the weight of having no host.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Adam's refusal to acknowledge the clear fraud and the Trump
- 0:56Speaker 2: voting scandal in the twenty twenty four, twenty twenty, and
- 1:00Speaker 2: twenty sixteen elections, it's frankly disgusting and historically disgraceful.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Well, don't forget the fraud in the twenty twenty five
- 1:08Speaker 1: California Prop fifty election. Also, Oh yeah, yeah, that one too. Yeah,
- 1:13Speaker 1: we got a lot of election fraud to address on
- 1:16Speaker 1: this episode. We're doing a conspiracy News roundup episode.
- 1:20Speaker 2: We don't even have time to get into the fact
- 1:22Speaker 2: that in the pull for the most popular Gundams ever,
- 1:24Speaker 2: the only gun thems for g gun then were Spike
- 1:26Speaker 2: Gundam and Hurricane Gundam totally snuffing, burning and shadow.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Oh that's outrageous. It's like the time Rolling Stone did
- 1:33Speaker 1: their list of the one hundred greatest guitar players of
- 1:35Speaker 1: all time and didn't put prints on it. Come on,
- 1:38Speaker 1: Oh that's fucked Yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Yeah yeah.
- 1:39Speaker 1: There was also a Vibe magazine did a list of
- 1:42Speaker 1: the best slow jams of all time and there was
- 1:44Speaker 1: no Eisley Brothers songs on it, And.
- 1:47Speaker 2: What the fuck did they do to Spin magazine?
- 1:49Speaker 1: Yeah, readers were irate. So yeah, we're recording this episode
- 1:55Speaker 1: even though we are approximately just under three hours of
- 2:00Speaker 1: away from probably nuclear apocalypse happening in Iran.
- 2:04Speaker 2: We must bake our bread, you know, till our fields. Yeah.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Trump has said that an entire civilization could die tonight,
- 2:12Speaker 1: which that's not a war crime at all, just promising genocide.
- 2:16Speaker 2: That's a fucking Slayer lyric, sure is, And I think
- 2:20Speaker 2: you're talking about skeletons.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So we power on even though it all might be
- 2:25Speaker 1: over by the time this goes up. And wouldn't that
- 2:27Speaker 1: be nice speaking of the war in Iran? Up First,
- 2:31Speaker 1: Joe Kent. That name should sound vaguely familiar to people
- 2:35Speaker 1: following the news these days. He's the former National counter
- 2:40Speaker 1: Terrorism Center head who quit in protest over the Iran
- 2:44Speaker 1: war in March, saying he couldn't, quote in good conscience
- 2:48Speaker 1: end quote support it.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Now, have you ever heard of this agency in your life?
- 2:53Speaker 1: I had not. I know they're on twenty four. Was
- 2:58Speaker 1: CTU the counter terrorism Unit, and that's who Jack Bauer
- 3:01Speaker 1: worked for, But I didn't know we had a real one,
- 3:03Speaker 1: I guess.
- 3:04Speaker 2: So, yeah, this has got to be a very minor.
- 3:07Speaker 2: It seems like the least important counter terroristic agency, ironically,
- 3:12Speaker 2: even though it's got counter terrorism right in the name.
- 3:14Speaker 1: Yeah, I've never heard of the NCC. That's not an
- 3:18Speaker 1: acronym that gets thrown around much. I would be like,
- 3:20Speaker 1: is that some kind of hockey league? This is a
- 3:23Speaker 1: quote from Joe Kent. Iran posed no imminent threat to
- 3:27Speaker 1: our nation, and it is clear that we started this
- 3:30Speaker 1: war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American
- 3:34Speaker 1: lobby end quote. Here's the thing. Joe Kent's probably a
- 3:37Speaker 1: Nazi fuck, but I don't disagree with him.
- 3:40Speaker 2: On that broken clocks are right twice a day. Yeah.
- 3:43Speaker 1: So he has most recently gotten in a tiff with
- 3:47Speaker 1: CNN's Jake Tapper on social media because Tapper called out
- 3:52Speaker 1: Joe Kent for sharing an article from Iranian state media
- 3:56Speaker 1: that claimed the US was bombing the same area where
- 4:00Speaker 1: that missing soldier was thought to be before we rescued him.
- 4:06Speaker 2: I wouldn't pass this at all.
- 4:08Speaker 1: That's the thing. Jake Tapper responded to this and was like, well,
- 4:13Speaker 1: this take didn't age well because Joe Kent re shared
- 4:17Speaker 1: this article on Twitter and Jake Tapper quote tweeted it
- 4:22Speaker 1: and said former National counter Terrorism Center director Joe Kent
- 4:25Speaker 1: sharing Iranian state linked outlet nonsense claiming falsely that the
- 4:31Speaker 1: US was trying to kill the then lost US pilot
- 4:34Speaker 1: end quote. I would not put it past the US
- 4:38Speaker 1: at all to be like, well, if we're not gonna
- 4:41Speaker 1: find him, it's better that they don't find him alive.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Yeah, and or we get to gin up the nationalist
- 4:49Speaker 2: sympathies of everyone once they see one of our boys
- 4:52Speaker 2: got blown up by the dang Iranians. Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 1: And at the same time, I wouldn't at all put
- 4:57Speaker 1: it past Iran to put this story out out there
- 5:00Speaker 1: just to fuck with people.
- 5:01Speaker 2: It's our fault for being and embodying the role of
- 5:04Speaker 2: the Great Satan, because it's totally believable that we would
- 5:07Speaker 2: do something like this, Yeah, that's the thing. You bomb
- 5:10Speaker 2: a school full of girls, been that one guy that
- 5:12Speaker 2: could be an inconvenience to you?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Okay, So Joe Kent, he fires back at Jake Tapper
- 5:19Speaker 1: and accused him and the rest of the US media
- 5:22Speaker 1: of trying to promote this foolish war and attack anyone
- 5:26Speaker 1: who points out how this war isn't in our nation's
- 5:30Speaker 1: interest end quote. And I think the media kind of
- 5:33Speaker 1: always does that when we go to war. That's just
- 5:36Speaker 1: a historical thing.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah. I remember when we first the Twelve Day War,
- 5:40Speaker 2: when we first did those first run of strikes and
- 5:42Speaker 2: rans nuclear facilities. I remember seeing Fox News and it
- 5:46Speaker 2: was just like had this had already had a map
- 5:48Speaker 2: of the nuclear facilities ready and was just talking about
- 5:52Speaker 2: Tomahawk missile options, And it's like, Wow, you've been chopping
- 5:55Speaker 2: at the bit for waiting for another one of these. Yeah.
- 5:58Speaker 1: And I think, again, this is a case where I
- 6:02Speaker 1: don't know who's right. I don't know if the US
- 6:05Speaker 1: really did this. And again I wouldn't put it past
- 6:07Speaker 1: Iran to lie about this to make the US look bad,
- 6:11Speaker 1: although that's not you don't really have to lie to
- 6:14Speaker 1: do that these days. But you're right. It's because of
- 6:18Speaker 1: the shit we've done in the Middle East already that
- 6:21Speaker 1: a story like this is kind of believable. And that's
- 6:25Speaker 1: our fault. That's no one's fault but our own.
- 6:28Speaker 2: That's what happens when you have active concentration camps in
- 6:31Speaker 2: your country, as you kind of lose the high ground
- 6:33Speaker 2: on issues like this.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and when the president of your country is on
- 6:38Speaker 1: social media threatening to commit genocide, it's hard to be like, Oh,
- 6:43Speaker 1: but we're the good guys and Iran are the bad guys,
- 6:47Speaker 1: and so this story is obviously false. Here's a left
- 6:51Speaker 1: field question that I feel like is vaguely related. I
- 6:55Speaker 1: don't think we've ever done an episode on it. What
- 6:58Speaker 1: are your thoughts on the theory that we actually shot
- 7:01Speaker 1: down United Flight ninety three on nine to eleven.
- 7:05Speaker 2: I've always been pretty agnostic about it. I haven't taken
- 7:08Speaker 2: the time to dig into when any particular line of thought.
- 7:12Speaker 2: I know, we did a great show back in the
- 7:14Speaker 2: day about the Pentagon being hit by a missile instead
- 7:17Speaker 2: of a plane, because there's only like a quarter of
- 7:19Speaker 2: a frame of footage of it flying into the fucking building. Yeah,
- 7:22Speaker 2: But as for United ninety three, I don't know, you'd
- 7:25Speaker 2: have to enlighten me.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Well, the only thing, I mean, for one thing, I
- 7:29Speaker 1: wouldn't be mad if we did. I think that would
- 7:33Speaker 1: kind of be what you would do in that situation.
- 7:35Speaker 1: If you're like, well, these three hijacked planes have already
- 7:38Speaker 1: hit the Twin Towers and the Pentagon. We know this
- 7:41Speaker 1: one's headed for the White House. Are we just gonna
- 7:44Speaker 1: let it hit the White House? No, we would probably
- 7:46Speaker 1: shoot it down.
- 7:47Speaker 2: Yeah, makes sense.
- 7:48Speaker 1: So I wouldn't be mad if that happened. I feel
- 7:50Speaker 1: like it would be kind of protocol. But also there's
- 7:53Speaker 1: that Donald Rumsfeld speech. I don't know where he is,
- 7:57Speaker 1: who he's in front of, but I'm sure I could
- 8:00Speaker 1: dig up video of it where he's talking about flight
- 8:02Speaker 1: ninety three and he goes and when flight ninety three
- 8:06Speaker 1: was shot down, I mean, when flight ninety three crashed,
- 8:09Speaker 1: it's like, oh, if anyone would know, it would be
- 8:12Speaker 1: that fella.
- 8:13Speaker 2: That's kind of like George hw Bush at Gerald Ford's
- 8:16Speaker 2: funeral and he's like, when John Kennedy was shot down
- 8:19Speaker 2: by a blown gun man.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Yeah, I remember that.
- 8:24Speaker 2: This is the only confirmation conspiracy theorist really get. You know,
- 8:28Speaker 2: we can be as sure as we want to be.
- 8:30Speaker 2: But there's never any smoking gun, just that one of
- 8:33Speaker 2: these lizard fucks slips up in front of the camera
- 8:35Speaker 2: one day.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, someone's having an issue with their eye, and we're like, ah,
- 8:39Speaker 1: look at their eyelid. It's a lizard. We're not like that,
- 8:42Speaker 1: but some lizards.
- 8:43Speaker 2: No, No, we are not never eaten fly.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah, we are not lizards. We are not lizard people.
- 8:48Speaker 1: We certainly would not be doing this for a living
- 8:50Speaker 1: if we were lizard people. Those motherfuckers are all rich.
- 8:53Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and exposing lizard people as lizard people, I
- 8:56Speaker 2: mean that sounds like a good way to get yourself killed.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Yeah, they're all either rich or somehow local news reporters.
- 9:02Speaker 1: Those are the only two people I ever see called
- 9:05Speaker 1: out as lizard people.
- 9:06Speaker 2: Yeah. If I was a lizard person, I would be
- 9:08Speaker 2: comparing one Ferrari to another Ferrari, I think, I think. Unfortunately,
- 9:14Speaker 2: I don't think I would be changing the world.
- 9:16Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, another Iran war conspiracy put this story
- 9:22Speaker 1: directly in my veins. I fucking love it.
- 9:24Speaker 2: I love stories about code breaking and ciphers and shit
- 9:28Speaker 2: like that. This was definitely a fun one and a
- 9:31Speaker 2: throwback to something I haven't thought about in a long time.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I have heard about the number stations in World War
- 9:36Speaker 2: two and Vietnam and shit.
- 9:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Since the start of the US Israel attack on Iran,
- 9:43Speaker 1: which was February twenty eight, a mysterious broadcast has been
- 9:47Speaker 1: playing twice a day on a short wave radio frequency breaker,
- 9:52Speaker 1: tava joe, tava joe, tava joe, tamajo, followed by a
- 9:56Speaker 1: string of numbers in no apparent order. For the record,
- 10:00Speaker 1: tavajo means attention in Persian, so I am almost certainly
- 10:04Speaker 1: pronouncing that incorrectly.
- 10:05Speaker 2: That's what a lot of Persian karate instructors end up
- 10:08Speaker 2: saying a lot throughout the class.
- 10:10Speaker 1: Tavajoe attention in Persian is the Robert del Naya of
- 10:15Speaker 1: this episode, whose name I butchered pretty consistently last week
- 10:20Speaker 1: for about half the episode.
- 10:22Speaker 2: You gotta sometimes, I think you just got to lean
- 10:23Speaker 2: into being white and say everything like Hank Hill tavajo yeah,
- 10:28Speaker 2: and just don't even try more disrespectful to try than
- 10:31Speaker 2: to just admit your ignorance.
- 10:34Speaker 1: So this message carries on for about two hours, then
- 10:38Speaker 1: stops and resumes again a few hours later. Every day,
- 10:43Speaker 1: twice a day light clockwork at two o'clock UTC and
- 10:48Speaker 1: eighteen hundred UTC since the start of the war. Every
- 10:52Speaker 1: single day. Transmissions are divided into five to six segments,
- 10:56Speaker 1: with each one lasting up to twenty minutes. Each segment
- 11:00Speaker 1: starts with attention in Persian, followed by numbers, sometimes with
- 11:05Speaker 1: an English or Persian word tossed in every once in
- 11:08Speaker 1: a while. Fascinating. Five days into the broadcast, radio jammers
- 11:12Speaker 1: could be heard trying to block the signal, and the
- 11:14Speaker 1: following day the signal moved to a different frequency.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Gotta love a tenacious broadcaster. Yeah, he was putting the
- 11:21Speaker 2: truth out there and no matter what, And I didn't.
- 11:23Speaker 1: Put it in the notes. But the signal jammer in
- 11:26Speaker 1: question is called a bubble jammer, and all it does
- 11:30Speaker 1: is put bubble noises over whatever you're trying to transmit,
- 11:34Speaker 1: so it's harder to hear.
- 11:35Speaker 2: Wow. Interesting is that I didn't realize that would be
- 11:38Speaker 2: such good camouflage for normal sounds.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Yeah I didn't either. If I can find a clip
- 11:44Speaker 1: of a bubble jammer in action, I'll drop it into
- 11:47Speaker 1: the episode right now. It seemed like a very unsophisticated
- 11:57Speaker 1: type of technology, but apparently Iran, in particular, has been
- 12:01Speaker 1: associated with the use of bubble jammers to block signals.
- 12:06Speaker 2: I would love it if this was just some nineteen
- 12:08Speaker 2: year old kids just doing this to fuck with people,
- 12:10Speaker 2: just making up numbers.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be very funny. But an organization called
- 12:15Speaker 1: PREOM that tracks global military and intelligence use of shortwave radios,
- 12:21Speaker 1: was able to identify the likely origin of the broadcast
- 12:24Speaker 1: to a shortwave transmission facility inside a US military base
- 12:29Speaker 1: in Boblingen, Germany, southwest of Stuttgart. It's located within a
- 12:33Speaker 1: restricted training area with technical operations possibly linked to the
- 12:38Speaker 1: US Army's fifty second Strategic Signal Battalion. And that's all
- 12:42Speaker 1: according to Wired.
- 12:43Speaker 2: Does that mean I don't know how the army works? Okay,
- 12:46Speaker 2: so let me just say that right now. But does
- 12:47Speaker 2: that mean we have at least fifty one other strategic
- 12:50Speaker 2: signal battalions? Is that how big and bloated the military is?
- 12:54Speaker 2: Is there's fifty one other guys with shortwave radios?
- 12:56Speaker 1: It's gotta be right. I can't imagine what else that
- 12:59Speaker 1: would mean.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Who knows?
- 13:00Speaker 1: So that tells us where it's coming from, but not
- 13:03Speaker 1: really who's doing it or why the thinking is that
- 13:08Speaker 1: it's coming from a number station, which is a thing
- 13:10Speaker 1: that was very common during World War Two and on
- 13:14Speaker 1: into the Cold War. This is a quote from Maris
- 13:16Speaker 1: goldmannis Latvian historian and number station researcher. Is an encrypted
- 13:22Speaker 1: radio message used by foreign intelligence services, often as part
- 13:26Speaker 1: of a complex operation by intelligence agencies and militaries. Also
- 13:31Speaker 1: quoted in this Wired article, John Cipher.
- 13:34Speaker 2: Perfect name for this story.
- 13:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's former CIA officer and friend of the show.
- 13:39Speaker 1: We've had him on the pod and yeah, I told
- 13:42Speaker 1: him on that episode, John Cipher, what a fucking name
- 13:45Speaker 1: for an intelligence agent. His name might as well be
- 13:48Speaker 1: Johnny Secrets, Jimmy Code. Yeah, that is such a perfect name.
- 13:53Speaker 1: And he talked about this in the Wired article. Also,
- 13:56Speaker 1: here's a kind of long quote. For intelligence agencies, it
- 13:59Speaker 1: is a important to communicate with their spies to gather intelligence.
- 14:03Speaker 1: This is not always possible in person due to political
- 14:06Speaker 1: constraints or conflict. This is where number stations come in. Nowadays,
- 14:10Speaker 1: you have various satellite and encrypted communications technologies, but during
- 14:14Speaker 1: the Cold War and even before that, governments had to
- 14:17Speaker 1: find ways to do this without being noticed, and broadcasting
- 14:20Speaker 1: coded messages was one way to communicate with your assets discreetly.
- 14:25Speaker 1: End quote. As for the numbers, he says, quote nobody
- 14:28Speaker 1: can make heads or tails of it or understand what
- 14:31Speaker 1: it says unless you have the code book that can
- 14:33Speaker 1: give you hints to decrypt the code. End quote. What
- 14:37Speaker 1: are the chances that downed Air Force pilot had the
- 14:41Speaker 1: code book?
- 14:42Speaker 2: Oh? I mean non zero, but pretty low.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I doubt he was doing intelligence stuff or decoding
- 14:49Speaker 2: shit by hand, you know. Yeah, they do a lot
- 14:52Speaker 2: of codes or like correspond to If you know that
- 14:55Speaker 2: you're supposed to read the first page of nineteen eighty
- 14:57Speaker 2: four and then you know, corespond the letters to the
- 15:01Speaker 2: numbers based on that, it'll be something like that. It'll
- 15:03Speaker 2: be like the ninety third page of Fucking Low Leader
- 15:06Speaker 2: or some random book, and that'll be the legend that
- 15:10Speaker 2: you refer to to break the code. So it really
- 15:12Speaker 2: is kind of like hard to You can make a
- 15:16Speaker 2: pretty good code that way.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Yeah, we did an episode a while back, and I
- 15:20Speaker 1: kind of want to revisit it again. You weren't on
- 15:24Speaker 1: the episode we did, But it's about I think I've
- 15:26Speaker 1: told you about it. It's about a ad that appeared
- 15:30Speaker 1: in New Yorker magazine right before the Pearl Harbor attack
- 15:34Speaker 1: for a board game called The Deadly Double, And it
- 15:38Speaker 1: really does seem like a coded message that is tipping
- 15:43Speaker 1: someone off about Pearl Harbor being a thing that's about
- 15:46Speaker 1: to happen. There's a Snopes article that debunks it, and
- 15:49Speaker 1: they leave a lot of detail out that makes it
- 15:53Speaker 1: seem like a little more believable than they're letting on.
- 15:56Speaker 1: But it does seem like an instance where they planted
- 16:01Speaker 1: a coded message in an ad and got found out.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Interesting. Yeah, but the paradox is my grandmother was at
- 16:08Speaker 2: Pearl Harbor when it was bombed. So no Pearl Harbor
- 16:11Speaker 2: likely in the economic spaden Maybe no conspiracy the show.
- 16:15Speaker 1: Oh damn? Yeah yeah yeah, so thank you. Was it
- 16:19Speaker 1: FDR who was president then?
- 16:21Speaker 2: Yes? Yeah, yeah, yeah yeah.
- 16:23Speaker 1: I think we talked about this a little when we
- 16:24Speaker 1: did an episode about the advanced knowledge theory of Pearl Harbor.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I remember that one.
- 16:31Speaker 1: We got to talk about the Deadly Double some more.
- 16:33Speaker 1: I found some interesting shit about that. All right, next story,
- 16:39Speaker 1: Americans are back in space, so of course there are
- 16:41Speaker 1: conspiracy theories to be talked about.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Back in a rented production space, right, back.
- 16:47Speaker 1: In Stanley Kubrick's studio. Yeah, Filman Moore space bullshit. The
- 16:52Speaker 1: Artemist two mission to the Moon launched recently, or did it.
- 16:55Speaker 1: A video of the crew in space is sparking conspiracy
- 16:59Speaker 1: theory that it's all a hoax and they aren't really
- 17:02Speaker 1: in space. And the video was filmed in front of
- 17:05Speaker 1: a green screen. And the reason people think this is
- 17:08Speaker 1: because there's a plush toy that's seen floating around the
- 17:12Speaker 1: cabin because there's no gravity, and at one point it
- 17:16Speaker 1: flickers a little and you see the letters tha N
- 17:19Speaker 1: and then the letters OW just kind of flash across
- 17:23Speaker 1: the toy's head and body, and it does look like
- 17:25Speaker 1: that thing where someone's wearing green they stand in front
- 17:29Speaker 1: of a green screen and oops. So that set people
- 17:33Speaker 1: off on Twitter. This is quote pure.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Green screen bullshit, same exact fabric they use on movie sets.
- 17:41Speaker 1: Artemis fake as hell. They never went up there.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Whole thing's a stage circus and where the idiot's paying
- 17:48Speaker 2: for it, Truth's buried under layers of CGI and lies.
- 17:52Speaker 2: Wake up man, that's probably actually what that guy sounds like.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you can't say wake up man and in
- 18:00Speaker 2: any other voice, really, I guess I kind of get
- 18:03Speaker 2: why people would be suspicious of this. It does look
- 18:07Speaker 2: weird at first, sure, question everything. My first question, is
- 18:11Speaker 2: there another feed of this footage and spoiler alert? Yes
- 18:14Speaker 2: through it.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Yeah, that's the thing. I can see why people would
- 18:17Speaker 1: be suspicious, But I also buy the explanation here. This
- 18:20Speaker 1: was a TV interview, so the TV station that was
- 18:26Speaker 1: broadcasting it most likely was using a chroma key filter,
- 18:30Speaker 1: which is sort of works like a green screen, but
- 18:33Speaker 1: it's what broadcasters use to put graphics, logos, text, whatever
- 18:37Speaker 1: on the screen in real time during interviews.
- 18:41Speaker 2: There's not that many TV shows anymore, and I'm sure
- 18:43Speaker 2: that people still working in TV on the technical side, like,
- 18:46Speaker 2: I don't know, it might might be a goddamn skeleton crew.
- 18:49Speaker 2: This shit happens. People fuck this stuff up. I've seen
- 18:51Speaker 2: it before.
- 18:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and they're not necessarily going to know, Oh, that
- 18:55Speaker 1: plush toy floating in the corner is going to interact
- 18:58Speaker 1: with our chroma key filter a weird way. It's just
- 19:01Speaker 1: a thing that happens. Sometimes. There is another feed of this,
- 19:05Speaker 1: like Connor mentioned, that is from NASA, and this glitch
- 19:09Speaker 1: does not happen in that fee. So this was a
- 19:13Speaker 1: TV thing. This wasn't NASA faking orbiting right outside the moon?
- 19:18Speaker 1: What's the controversy there. We've done that a bunch of times.
- 19:21Speaker 1: I don't know why people would think it was fake
- 19:22Speaker 1: this time.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Yeah, And there's a pretty good MythBusters where they like
- 19:28Speaker 2: ping something that the Apollo astronauts left behind so that
- 19:31Speaker 2: they could basically prove that they went to the Moon.
- 19:34Speaker 2: And it's like, okay, yeah, we can ping the thing,
- 19:38Speaker 2: then can we just.
- 19:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, if we can find something we left there,
- 19:41Speaker 1: that's pretty compelling. I'm still on the side of it's
- 19:46Speaker 1: an amazing accomplishment either way.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Yeah, to fake it or do it is kind of incredible.
- 19:52Speaker 1: If we went to the moon, hell yeah. If we
- 19:54Speaker 1: tricked the world into thinking we went to the moon,
- 19:57Speaker 1: hell yeah, Usa.
- 19:59Speaker 2: Baby love it. Either way. I'm with you on that.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I grew up. My father's kind of an Apollo astronim there,
- 20:05Speaker 2: so it's to me looks like a you know, a
- 20:08Speaker 2: rocket is like a sports car, but even more so,
- 20:11Speaker 2: it's just a giant replacement for your peen. Oh yeah,
- 20:14Speaker 2: on some level, I mean I get that there's real
- 20:16Speaker 2: science and real interesting things that people want to look at,
- 20:19Speaker 2: but I can only see it now as an adult
- 20:22Speaker 2: in terms of meals for the poor.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, next story, Riverside County, Yellen Compton, but
- 20:29Speaker 1: you move to Riverside. Sheriff Chad Bianco is running for
- 20:33Speaker 1: governor of California. As part of his campaign, he teamed
- 20:38Speaker 1: up with a judge he's friendly with, named Jay Keel,
- 20:42Speaker 1: who authorized a bunch of warrants allowing Bianco to seize
- 20:45Speaker 1: six hundred thousand ballots cast in the twenty twenty five
- 20:49Speaker 1: Prop fifty special election in Riverside.
- 20:53Speaker 2: That's the Democrat gerrymandering proposition.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Yes, it's the pushback against Texas redrawing their maps, which
- 21:03Speaker 1: I still think is going to backfire on Texas. I'm
- 21:06Speaker 1: not so confident they're going to keep all those seats
- 21:10Speaker 1: that they think they're adding for Republicans. It's not going well.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I hope you're right.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Yeah, that's provided we have elections.
- 21:18Speaker 2: Still. Yeah, that's a big if. I'm going to cause
- 21:20Speaker 2: play as a conservative so Ice doesn't fuck with me.
- 21:23Speaker 2: You know, I'm going to have like a don't tread
- 21:24Speaker 2: on my shirt and the applid kind of flannel over
- 21:27Speaker 2: that with some I don't know, I'm going to look
- 21:29Speaker 2: like I'm wearing a total costume, but it'll be better
- 21:31Speaker 2: than whatever else I was going to wear.
- 21:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm just going to drop my ballot off in
- 21:36Speaker 1: person days in advance.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Probably that's probably a good move.
- 21:40Speaker 1: A mail in ballot, so it will ultimately not be
- 21:42Speaker 1: counted the Supreme Court decides those are invalid or whatever
- 21:45Speaker 1: the fuck. So the intent here was for deputies to
- 21:49Speaker 1: hand recount those ballots as part of an investigation over
- 21:53Speaker 1: claims from a local activist group that there was a
- 21:56Speaker 1: discrepancy between the number of ballots cast and the number
- 21:59Speaker 1: of ballots count it. Election officials have refuted those claims,
- 22:03Speaker 1: saying the act of as group is using flawed and
- 22:05Speaker 1: incomplete data, and now the recount is on hold after
- 22:09Speaker 1: lawsuits challenging it were filed by various groups. California Attorney
- 22:14Speaker 1: General Rob Bonta ordered Bianco to turn over the warrants
- 22:18Speaker 1: that he was issued to justify the seizure, but then
- 22:20Speaker 1: refuse to make them public. And when news outlet cow
- 22:25Speaker 1: Matters reached out to get those warrants for some reason,
- 22:29Speaker 1: Rob Bonta was like, now the judge sealed them. You
- 22:31Speaker 1: can't see him when they reached out to Bianco. He said,
- 22:34Speaker 1: when the investigation's over, like every other case that's sealed,
- 22:38Speaker 1: when it's unsealed, you'll get to see it. Don't you
- 22:40Speaker 1: act like this as something out of the ordinary, because
- 22:43Speaker 1: it's not end quote, Yeah, it is.
- 22:46Speaker 2: They'll take guy hiding something for ten thousand dolls.
- 22:50Speaker 1: Under state law, police have to execute warrants within ten
- 22:54Speaker 1: days of obtaining them, and the documents and supporting statements
- 22:58Speaker 1: have to be made public after that warrant is executed.
- 23:01Speaker 1: But it is common for law enforcement to ask for
- 23:03Speaker 1: warrants to remain sealed while an investigation is still happening.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Problem for Bianco here is he's the one who publicized
- 23:10Speaker 1: this investigation. He had a press conference about it on
- 23:13Speaker 1: March twentieth, Happy birthday to me, and announce the whole thing.
- 23:17Speaker 1: So that's not a secret anymore. We know who he's investigating.
- 23:20Speaker 1: It's six hundred thousand voters in Riverside County, So what's
- 23:25Speaker 1: to hide anymore? Release those warrants and now lawyers representing
- 23:29Speaker 1: cow Matters, The New York Times, The LA Times, and
- 23:32Speaker 1: several other news and TV outlets have filed a motion
- 23:35Speaker 1: to unseal the warrants and sworn statements in the case.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Now, is that six hundred thousand individual warrants or is
- 23:42Speaker 2: that one warrant for six hundred thousand people? Because I
- 23:44Speaker 2: wouldn't put it past their government to just draw up
- 23:46Speaker 2: warrants for six hundred thousand people just to create busy
- 23:49Speaker 2: work and waste paper.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I wonder. But because it was just one judge,
- 23:54Speaker 1: I wonder.
- 23:56Speaker 2: You got out the autopen baby and just let it ride.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, maybe had a I do. It is a thing
- 24:00Speaker 1: that's happening with courts all the time now. Nothing terrifying
- 24:03Speaker 1: about that.
- 24:04Speaker 2: Yeah, automated justice.
- 24:06Speaker 1: This is a quote from Jean Paul Jasse, one of
- 24:09Speaker 1: the lawyers representing the media outlets.
- 24:12Speaker 2: Ol Sassy Jasse.
- 24:13Speaker 1: It is hard to imagine a stronger public interest than
- 24:16Speaker 1: access to a proceeding purporting to resolve allegations relating to
- 24:21Speaker 1: election integrity, allegations at the heart of our democracy.
- 24:25Speaker 2: End quote.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's one hundred percent correct there. I
- 24:29Speaker 1: think the public would absolutely want to know why they
- 24:32Speaker 1: think this election was interfered with.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Obviously, this sounds to me like more examples of we're
- 24:38Speaker 2: in the era where now people are just trying to
- 24:40Speaker 2: just do things. Fuck to the system, fucked the norms,
- 24:44Speaker 2: fucked with We're just going to do it, and we'll
- 24:46Speaker 2: see if we can get away with it, because clearly
- 24:49Speaker 2: you can get away with it some of the time.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Yeah, that is especially what's going on with Trump right now,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and it seems like that's just trickling down. Like if
- 24:58Speaker 1: you're an ardent enough Trump supporter these days, I feel
- 25:02Speaker 1: like you do have a sense that you're kind of untouchable.
- 25:06Speaker 2: You're almost like, worst case scenario, I just make a
- 25:08Speaker 2: big stink about this and get pardoned. Yeah, yeah, become
- 25:11Speaker 2: one of the martyrs, one of the January six ers,
- 25:13Speaker 2: who is just too real for everybody.
- 25:15Speaker 1: Yeah, it absolutely feels like that right now. But I'm
- 25:18Speaker 1: sure it'll get better before it gets worse. Yeah, it'll
- 25:22Speaker 1: be fine.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Most people hear this podcast will straighten themselves out.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, we convert Trump supporters pretty regularly. Just read
- 25:30Speaker 1: the reviews. They love us.
- 25:31Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Next story. This is an interesting take from an article
- 25:36Speaker 1: on the website of an outfit called the Lowe Institute,
- 25:39Speaker 1: which is a non partisan international policy think tank located
- 25:43Speaker 1: in Sydney, Australia. According to their about page. While we
- 25:47Speaker 1: tend to associate AI and algorithms with the ability and
- 25:51Speaker 1: potential to spread misinformation far and wide.
- 25:55Speaker 2: I'm sorry, what has Australia ever had to do with
- 25:57Speaker 2: anything as far as global policy is concerned. I've never
- 26:00Speaker 2: been in a major war. There's never been at the
- 26:02Speaker 2: center of a trade agreement. This is like Switzerland writing
- 26:06Speaker 2: and having a policy institute about how to wage war.
- 26:09Speaker 2: It's like, you're the last person I would ask.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that is a good point.
- 26:14Speaker 2: It's like George W. Bush as a policy institute. It's like, brother,
- 26:18Speaker 2: we do not want to hear it. You are not
- 26:20Speaker 2: good at this.
- 26:21Speaker 1: So, according to them, they actually think AI could be
- 26:25Speaker 1: used to fight against the spread of misinformation and things
- 26:29Speaker 1: of the like. Here's a quote. Traditional metrics of trust
- 26:32Speaker 1: across society are in free fall, so called vertical trust
- 26:36Speaker 1: that in governments and media has collapsed, but so has
- 26:39Speaker 1: trust between one another, known as eye contact trust end quote.
- 26:44Speaker 1: For example, they cite the fact that two percent of
- 26:47Speaker 1: Americans say they trust Congress to do the right thing
- 26:50Speaker 1: most of the time these days. That number was seventy
- 26:52Speaker 1: three percent sixty years ago. Here's my first issue with
- 26:56Speaker 1: this article and the point they're making whose fault is that?
- 27:00Speaker 1: That feels exactly like the great Satan thing you mentioned earlier.
- 27:04Speaker 1: It's not American's fault that they don't trust Congress to
- 27:09Speaker 1: do the right thing anymore. That's Congress's fault for not
- 27:12Speaker 1: doing the fucking right thing most of the time. So
- 27:16Speaker 1: I feel like this is sort of suggesting, well, we
- 27:19Speaker 1: can put a band aid on that and just reconvince
- 27:23Speaker 1: Americans that they should trust Congress.
- 27:26Speaker 2: I love the framing of it too, because it's they're
- 27:28Speaker 2: blaming you for not trusting Congress more. It's like, what
- 27:30Speaker 2: the fuck does the matter with you? Yeah? What ye
- 27:34Speaker 2: of little faith? How dare you? What do you hate America?
- 27:37Speaker 1: And yeah, well, like what reason do we have to
- 27:39Speaker 1: trust Congress?
- 27:41Speaker 2: They voted for every horrible war. We've only got half
- 27:44Speaker 2: the Jeffrey Epstein files. Like they stink.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Yeah, they fucking suck.
- 27:48Speaker 2: They turned the public option into a healthcare marketplace, whatever
- 27:52Speaker 2: the goddamn fuck that is.
- 27:53Speaker 1: Oh, but health insurance is so cheap right now?
- 27:56Speaker 2: Just ask me.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I pay just under five hundred dollars a month for medacal.
- 28:01Speaker 2: Fuck.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's a fucking debacle. So you're not gonna believe
- 28:06Speaker 1: this part. But according to the Lowe Institute, young people
- 28:09Speaker 1: seem to show the most mistrust in these institutions, and
- 28:14Speaker 1: so their suggestion is, well, young people tend to put
- 28:18Speaker 1: their trust in things like peer networks, influencers, and.
- 28:21Speaker 2: Now ai Alan Iverson. Finally, the kids are picking some
- 28:27Speaker 2: good role models. Got his logan, Paul's shit, you want
- 28:29Speaker 2: to go to the fucking answer?
- 28:31Speaker 1: I mentioned this every time Alan Iverson comes up. But
- 28:34Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills did a schedule announcement video. When the
- 28:38Speaker 1: NFL drops their schedules every year, each team does like
- 28:40Speaker 1: a social media video to show their schedule. And in
- 28:43Speaker 1: this video, their media guy is on the phone with
- 28:46Speaker 1: the team quarterback Josh Allen, and he's like, Josh, I
- 28:49Speaker 1: have no idea what we're gonna do for this schedule
- 28:52Speaker 1: release video.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Do you have any ideas?
- 28:54Speaker 1: And Josh Allen just goes, man, just have a I
- 28:57Speaker 1: do it, and he goes, that's a great idea. And
- 28:59Speaker 1: then they just to Alan Iverson sitting at a table
- 29:02Speaker 1: holding up a piece of paper with the schedule on it,
- 29:04Speaker 1: and he goes, this is the schedule.
- 29:06Speaker 2: I'm late to this idea. Okay, that's okay, it's a
- 29:10Speaker 2: good one.
- 29:10Speaker 1: So Yeah. They mentioned that young people do tend to
- 29:13Speaker 1: trust AI more than older people. So their argument is, well,
- 29:18Speaker 1: if you guide AI responsibly, maybe it can fight all
- 29:22Speaker 1: the conspiracy theories and re up that trust that people
- 29:28Speaker 1: have in the government.
- 29:29Speaker 2: If we use the robotic groupthink machine, we can make
- 29:33Speaker 2: everybody believe our version of history. Yeah.
- 29:36Speaker 1: This feels like they think they're saying something good when
- 29:39Speaker 1: they're actually saying something very scary.
- 29:42Speaker 2: I think if you work in tech long enough, it
- 29:44Speaker 2: warps your brain and you really don't understand that what
- 29:46Speaker 2: you're doing is BL's a bub.
- 29:48Speaker 1: Yeah, because what they're kind of saying is, well, we
- 29:51Speaker 1: could use AI not so much to crush descent, but
- 29:55Speaker 1: just to you know, work it out of the kids,
- 29:59Speaker 1: flatten it a bit. Yeah, and they're presenting it as, oh,
- 30:03Speaker 1: we'll keep the world safe from conspiracy theories.
- 30:05Speaker 2: That's not the way I'm reading this. I'm just reading
- 30:08Speaker 2: it as this is how the government is going to
- 30:10Speaker 2: censor shit. I just talked about it on an episode
- 30:12Speaker 2: of The Solo Pod.
- 30:14Speaker 1: AI is going to be so great for rewriting history
- 30:18Speaker 1: once you can get it to write curriculums and just
- 30:21Speaker 1: tell it what to leave out.
- 30:23Speaker 2: I mean, that's Elon Musk is already doing that with Grog.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Every time Grok says something he doesn't like, he's like,
- 30:27Speaker 2: we're going to fix Grox so that it's more transphobic,
- 30:31Speaker 2: and likes, yeah, it makes my jaw stronger when you
- 30:35Speaker 2: generate pictures of me. Yeah.
- 30:36Speaker 1: I think that's what the big push by the Trump
- 30:39Speaker 1: administration to get AI going as fast as they want
- 30:42Speaker 1: it going is all about. They want to, for one thing,
- 30:46Speaker 1: just destroy critical thinking, but also they're going to need
- 30:49Speaker 1: to replace all the farm workers once all the immigrants
- 30:52Speaker 1: are deported, and what better way to do that than
- 30:55Speaker 1: get rid of all the white collar jobs. And next thing,
- 30:57Speaker 1: you know, me and Connor are picking your strawberry. But
- 31:02Speaker 1: we'll still record podcasts.
- 31:03Speaker 2: While we do it. Well, I know I've brought it
- 31:05Speaker 2: up on the show ten million times, but I love
- 31:06Speaker 2: that definition of propaganda, which is that which seeks to
- 31:09Speaker 2: exhaust critical thinking and annihilate the truth. And this sounds
- 31:13Speaker 2: like yet another example when you said exhaust your critical thinking,
- 31:16Speaker 2: Like it just presents you with this and they're all
- 31:19Speaker 2: designed them to make you want to use them to
- 31:22Speaker 2: provide whatever kind of feedback is most stimulating you to
- 31:25Speaker 2: get you to type more prompts into the machine. Yeah.
- 31:28Speaker 2: So they're these feedback loops which, if you program them right,
- 31:32Speaker 2: could probably make any number of like vulnerable, lonely people
- 31:36Speaker 2: believe any number of things.
- 31:38Speaker 1: And this article points to two different studies that showed
- 31:42Speaker 1: AI chatbots are able to decrease conspiracy thinking in users.
- 31:49Speaker 2: Whatever have with the Sarah quill that used to decrease
- 31:51Speaker 2: conspiracy theory thinking, it was a perfectly good medication we
- 31:55Speaker 2: had just for this respirodone.
- 31:57Speaker 1: The way this study worked took people who believed in
- 32:01Speaker 1: a certain conspiracy theory, had them go talk about it
- 32:05Speaker 1: with an AI chat bot that pushed back with facts
- 32:08Speaker 1: and evidence, and in most cases, the people came out
- 32:11Speaker 1: the other end not believing that conspiracy anymore, or at least,
- 32:15Speaker 1: you know, thinking a little less of it. And my
- 32:18Speaker 1: question is, Okay, what conspiracies were we talking about though?
- 32:21Speaker 1: Was it a layup like Sandy Hook or was it
- 32:25Speaker 1: was Saudi Arabia involved in nine to eleven? Because I
- 32:27Speaker 1: would love to argue a chatbot about that one. Fucking
- 32:31Speaker 1: bring it on, you, goddamn brainless robot.
- 32:33Speaker 2: Well, chatbots present themselves very authoritatively. They've always got a
- 32:37Speaker 2: numbered list that just gets spit out at light speed
- 32:40Speaker 2: about you know what you need to do about whatever.
- 32:42Speaker 2: They hallucinate constantly, so they can present you this information
- 32:46Speaker 2: with this very authoritative kind of format and tone, but
- 32:50Speaker 2: they just will have no idea what they talk They're
- 32:52Speaker 2: completely imagining thing.
- 32:53Speaker 1: Yeah, I would debate an AI chatbot about the Deadly
- 32:57Speaker 1: Double thing, because I know they're just gonna all their
- 33:00Speaker 1: information from all of the articles debunking it, at which
- 33:04Speaker 1: point I'm going to be like, Okay, but what about
- 33:06Speaker 1: the fact that the guy's office was in the same
- 33:08Speaker 1: building as the Japanese consulate at the time, and he
- 33:11Speaker 1: was already in the military when he was developing this
- 33:14Speaker 1: board game? How did he have time to do that
- 33:16Speaker 1: while also serving in World War Two? But yeah, I'd
- 33:20Speaker 1: really like to know what conspiracy theories they ran past
- 33:23Speaker 1: this AI chatbot for these studies.
- 33:25Speaker 2: I'll see if I.
- 33:26Speaker 1: Can find them.
- 33:26Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely interesting.
- 33:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I did notes kind of last minute for this,
- 33:30Speaker 1: so I didn't get to dive into it the way
- 33:32Speaker 1: I want. But yeah, this really feels like a double
- 33:35Speaker 1: edged sword kind of thing where yeah, AI could be
- 33:38Speaker 1: used to fight misinformation but define misinformation. Yeah, the thing
- 33:43Speaker 1: what do you consider misinformation? Slavery was bad? Is that
- 33:47Speaker 1: the misinformation you're trying to fight? If so, this is
- 33:50Speaker 1: bad times. But enough about groc Yeah, exactly. Speaking of
- 33:54Speaker 1: conspiracies and elections and me doing these notes at the
- 33:59Speaker 1: last minute, because this story should have absolutely followed the
- 34:03Speaker 1: one about the Riverside County sheriff fun twist in one
- 34:06Speaker 1: of the biggest news stories of the year that we've
- 34:08Speaker 1: all already forgotten about.
- 34:10Speaker 2: No shit.
- 34:10Speaker 1: It turns out that thing where we kicked off the
- 34:12Speaker 1: new year by kidnapping the president of Venezuela and flying
- 34:16Speaker 1: them off to New York to stand trial on drug
- 34:18Speaker 1: charges might have been connected to claims that Trump actually
- 34:23Speaker 1: won the twenty twenty election. Apparently, and I don't know
- 34:27Speaker 1: how I missed this one. There was a theory that
- 34:30Speaker 1: Nicholas Maduro personally was controlling voting machines all around the world,
- 34:35Speaker 1: and he did that in twenty twenty four to flip
- 34:39Speaker 1: the election for Joe Biden.
- 34:41Speaker 2: This is just I can't believe this, just because the
- 34:44Speaker 2: sheer size and state of Venezuela compared to the United States.
- 34:48Speaker 2: It's like telling me that fucking Krillin was manipulating Jeerin Adam.
- 34:53Speaker 2: That is what I'm talking about.
- 34:55Speaker 1: I don't This is such an absurd theory to me.
- 34:59Speaker 1: In it again feels like that thing I keep saying
- 35:02Speaker 1: about elections, where it feels like, for a while now
- 35:05Speaker 1: it's just been all right, who's got the best idea
- 35:08Speaker 1: to topple Venezuela, We're just gonna go with that guy,
- 35:12Speaker 1: And it seems like they went with, all right, let's
- 35:14Speaker 1: try the crazy shit this time around, and somehow it's working. Somehow.
- 35:18Speaker 1: No one was like, well, have you considered just kidnapping
- 35:20Speaker 1: him and flying him to the United States?
- 35:22Speaker 2: This is again and my thesis have been, we're just
- 35:26Speaker 2: doing things now.
- 35:27Speaker 1: Yes, I feel like this would have started a war
- 35:30Speaker 1: most other eras of history, and we're just doing so
- 35:33Speaker 1: much now. It's like we don't have time to be
- 35:36Speaker 1: at war with you, where we've already moved on to
- 35:38Speaker 1: other wars.
- 35:39Speaker 2: Yeah, what happened that we're going to take Cuban next week?
- 35:41Speaker 2: Lindsay Graham?
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yeah? Have we just given up on Greenland?
- 35:45Speaker 2: Yeah? Right? I wish we were stealing greenland right now.
- 35:47Speaker 2: At least that would at least we'd get some rare
- 35:49Speaker 2: earth metals out of it.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Greenland actually makes sense in terms of why we
- 35:54Speaker 1: would want it, because it's the same thing with Russia.
- 35:58Speaker 1: We've I don't remember if it this podcast where we
- 36:01Speaker 1: talked about it, but one of the big concerns with
- 36:03Speaker 1: global warming is it's gonna turn Russia into lush farmland,
- 36:08Speaker 1: Like Russia is gonna turn into fucking Iowa when all
- 36:11Speaker 1: that shit melts, and then they're gonna have all the cows,
- 36:14Speaker 1: They're gonna have all the fucking food supply. And I
- 36:17Speaker 1: feel like we're trying to get in on that shit
- 36:19Speaker 1: by claiming Canada and Greenland. That's what we fucking want.
- 36:24Speaker 2: We want some global warming proof arable land. Yeah.
- 36:27Speaker 1: I think that's absolutely what it's about. But also global warming.
- 36:31Speaker 2: Is not real, so that's a good point.
- 36:33Speaker 1: There's that too. So this theory that Maduro controlled voting machines,
- 36:39Speaker 1: it's just one of a million fucking theories that have
- 36:41Speaker 1: been thrown out about how the election was stolen. A
- 36:44Speaker 1: judge ruled that the theory was nonsense in twenty twenty three.
- 36:48Speaker 1: Apparently this is tied to the dominion voting machine theory.
- 36:53Speaker 1: Maduro is alleged to have some connections with dominion voting,
- 36:57Speaker 1: and that's how he's able to manipulate all this, which
- 37:01Speaker 1: goes back to kind of the same question I had
- 37:04Speaker 1: when we were talking about the Bill Clinton Hillary Clinton
- 37:07Speaker 1: depositions in this idea that Jeffrey Epstein bought favor from
- 37:12Speaker 1: the Clintons for twenty five thousand dollars to fight a
- 37:15Speaker 1: sex trafficking charge, and my thinking was, well, that's not
- 37:19Speaker 1: enough money. Yeah right, You're not going to pay off
- 37:21Speaker 1: the Clintons with twenty five grand.
- 37:23Speaker 2: That's cute. When am I going to put that with
- 37:25Speaker 2: the rest of my millions? Now?
- 37:26Speaker 1: Think about all the no good world leaders out there
- 37:30Speaker 1: on the global stage who could potentially want access to
- 37:34Speaker 1: something like this, and you sell it to Maduro, I
- 37:37Speaker 1: guarantee Putin would have been offering more money.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Yeah right.
- 37:41Speaker 1: There's no way he's winning that auction, Absolutely not. And
- 37:44Speaker 1: you can't sell it to everyone because then elections are
- 37:48Speaker 1: going to make no sense if people are just flipping
- 37:50Speaker 1: shit back and forth willy nilly, like the goddamn Sims.
- 37:53Speaker 1: I don't know why the Sims.
- 37:54Speaker 2: I'm trying to think of another anime analogy just to
- 37:57Speaker 2: bother you. But it's coming up blank.
- 38:00Speaker 1: So, yeah, this is tied to the dominion voting thing.
- 38:02Speaker 1: A bunch of outlets that reported on it had to
- 38:05Speaker 1: pay a bunch of money to file defamation and libel lawsuits.
- 38:10Speaker 1: But in twenty twenty five, two longtime proponents of the theory,
- 38:14Speaker 1: former CIA official Gary Burnson and Venezuelan ex patriot Martin Rodel,
- 38:20Speaker 1: pushed the case to US Attorney for Puerto Rico W.
- 38:24Speaker 1: Stephen Muldro. They also brief the Office of the Director
- 38:28Speaker 1: of National Intelligence, that is the office run by Tulci Gabbard,
- 38:32Speaker 1: the same office that did what recently seized voting machines
- 38:37Speaker 1: in Puerto Rico.
- 38:38Speaker 2: They don't need them, yeah, exactly. You know, we don't
- 38:41Speaker 2: count those anyway. Come on, and we barely do. They
- 38:44Speaker 2: don't even get electoral vote. No, they don't get picked
- 38:46Speaker 2: the president. Yeah, wow, poor bastards.
- 38:49Speaker 1: And when she testified about this, she said it was
- 38:51Speaker 1: done at the request of the office of the US
- 38:54Speaker 1: Attorney in Puerto Rico, the same one those two proponents
- 38:57Speaker 1: of the Maduro theory pitched back in twenty twenty five.
- 39:01Speaker 1: So her office denies that that's why they sees those
- 39:05Speaker 1: voting machines, but I don't buy it.
- 39:07Speaker 2: I don't.
- 39:07Speaker 1: I'm assuming they're because why Puerto Rico. I wonder if
- 39:11Speaker 1: that's the only place that would let them sees voting machines.
- 39:14Speaker 2: Maybe they've got some outdated ones that are easier to hack.
- 39:18Speaker 2: There were apparently issues with their voting machines in that
- 39:22Speaker 2: they weren't like transmitting votes fast enough and things that
- 39:25Speaker 2: I like.
- 39:25Speaker 1: But it wasn't because of hacking. It was just shitty
- 39:28Speaker 1: infrastructure in Puerto Rico.
- 39:30Speaker 2: You want to talk about voting machine, I'm a voting machine.
- 39:33Speaker 2: I voted like three, four or five times in the
- 39:35Speaker 2: last election.
- 39:36Speaker 1: Hell yeah, you got to. It's your civic duty to vote.
- 39:39Speaker 1: So it's like double your civic duty to vote twice.
- 39:42Speaker 2: Youdn't couple my civic duty.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're just being a good American.
- 39:46Speaker 2: I'm practically a troop. Now.
- 39:48Speaker 1: All right, this next story, this one hurts for me.
- 39:52Speaker 2: I'm not going to comment it right away, but I
- 39:54Speaker 2: will say that I've met this person that we're talking
- 39:56Speaker 2: about here. I've worked with her at an award show before. Yeah.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Yeah, Well, as someone who very much planned or plans
- 40:04Speaker 1: to see the Salt and pepa En Vogue TLC tour
- 40:08Speaker 1: this fall. You have to when it hits the Intuit Dome.
- 40:11Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm gonna go. This kind of bums me out.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Chili the C in TLC, real name Razonda Thomas, is
- 40:17Speaker 1: now fighting accusations that she is a secret Maga chud.
- 40:22Speaker 1: You've worked with her, did she come off as a
- 40:24Speaker 1: Trump supporter? She was incredibly nice. She laughed at all
- 40:27Speaker 1: my stupid jokes. She was not stuck up or demanding
- 40:31Speaker 1: about anything the way.
- 40:33Speaker 2: Some celebrities are apt to be her and whatever the
- 40:36Speaker 2: chick whose name starts with Tea is, We're totally great
- 40:39Speaker 2: t bas Tea bos That's right.
- 40:41Speaker 1: I fucking love TLC. They are one of my favorite
- 40:44Speaker 1: groups of all time.
- 40:45Speaker 2: No scrubs, waterfalls, They got hits, yeah, which for a
- 40:49Speaker 2: pretty short career is pretty impressive.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Yeah, and they sold a shit ton of records. They're
- 40:54Speaker 1: still I think the best selling female group.
- 40:57Speaker 2: Of all time. Oh so, I believe it.
- 40:59Speaker 1: So for starters. The Independent reported that Chile donated more
- 41:04Speaker 1: than one thousand dollars to Republican linked fundraisers and Trump
- 41:08Speaker 1: reelection efforts in twenty twenty four.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Could have been a mistake, could have thought it was
- 41:14Speaker 2: something else.
- 41:15Speaker 1: I don't know, and that is her defense here. But
- 41:18Speaker 1: after that, fans found out that she'd reshared a video
- 41:22Speaker 1: on social media featuring Michelle Obama that was super popular
- 41:27Speaker 1: among conspiracy theorists.
- 41:29Speaker 2: What's the conspiracy theory? I've heard the one where she's
- 41:31Speaker 2: actually a man?
- 41:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm not sure. I don't know which Obama video
- 41:36Speaker 1: she shared.
- 41:37Speaker 2: As long as they weren't depicted as monkeys in it,
- 41:39Speaker 2: I'm fine with it.
- 41:40Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be quite a step.
- 41:42Speaker 2: Who amongst this has not gotten a little high and
- 41:44Speaker 2: endorsed the wrong conspiracy theory once or twice except me
- 41:48Speaker 2: and Adam I've never done that. Never.
- 41:50Speaker 1: No, we only endorse the good stuff.
- 41:53Speaker 2: We do a cold plunge before record session.
- 41:58Speaker 1: So after fans started calling her out, she immediately jumped
- 42:01Speaker 1: on Instagram to explain that she accidentally reposted the video
- 42:06Speaker 1: and didn't realize it. Here's a quote. Let me say
- 42:09Speaker 1: this first. I have the utmost respect and admiration from
- 42:12Speaker 1: Michelle Obama and I would never say or do anything
- 42:15Speaker 1: that is disrespectful to her or to any woman. I
- 42:18Speaker 1: would never do that. I have no clue that this
- 42:21Speaker 1: repost happened until I started getting phone calls and text
- 42:25Speaker 1: messages from everybody, and I immediately went to my page
- 42:28Speaker 1: to see what was going on. End quote that was.
- 42:31Speaker 2: The woman I met, totally positive, totally nice.
- 42:34Speaker 1: And she claims what must have happened is her thumb
- 42:38Speaker 1: accidentally hit the repost button while she was scrolling. You
- 42:43Speaker 1: ever reposted anything on Instagram?
- 42:45Speaker 2: And not once?
- 42:46Speaker 1: I have, and I don't recall what the process is like.
- 42:51Speaker 2: They usually ask you at least one kind of like
- 42:53Speaker 2: are you sure? Yeah? But I see even with that,
- 42:56Speaker 2: I would just want to click something on it to
- 42:57Speaker 2: make it go away. You know, I could see if
- 42:59Speaker 2: I was I don't know, she's a she's not Jen Alpha,
- 43:03Speaker 2: she wasn't raised on technology. You know.
- 43:05Speaker 1: Let me see if I can find anything I'm comfortable reshare.
- 43:10Speaker 2: We might be here a while.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Oh no, you just you do just and now it
- 43:15Speaker 1: like won't let me un reshare it?
- 43:17Speaker 2: Uh it's just the tap of a button.
- 43:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so Chili might be onto something. Chili's indicated I
- 43:24Speaker 1: just unreposted that cat video. So now my latest repost
- 43:28Speaker 1: is a young man rapping about how you should buy
- 43:30Speaker 1: a cat. So yeah, she could have just to accidentally repost.
- 43:35Speaker 2: That rap actually turns into a conspiracy theory about Barack Obama.
- 43:39Speaker 1: I mean, the cat rap does include several conspiracy theories
- 43:43Speaker 1: like how cats heal you when they purr and their
- 43:46Speaker 1: interdimensional beings, all things I believe.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Yeah, how else could it they be so magnificent?
- 43:51Speaker 1: So as for the donations, she said she made a
- 43:54Speaker 1: mistake and didn't read the fine print and didn't know
- 43:58Speaker 1: what she was actually support, although one of the donations
- 44:01Speaker 1: went directly to an organization with Trump write in the name.
- 44:05Speaker 1: But what this article doesn't mention, and I've only seen
- 44:09Speaker 1: this on Instagram, is that Chili also liked the whole
- 44:14Speaker 1: bunch of Trump and jd Vance posts on Instagram and
- 44:20Speaker 1: commented on a bunch of them in ways that don't
- 44:23Speaker 1: make it seem like she's opposed to Trump. No.
- 44:26Speaker 2: I know, I've been writing for Chili this whole segment,
- 44:29Speaker 2: but at this point I don't have a convenient explanation
- 44:31Speaker 2: for Yeah.
- 44:32Speaker 1: There's even one where she commented on a video about
- 44:37Speaker 1: the Trump Biden debate that was coming up, and she
- 44:40Speaker 1: left a comment that said should definitely have an audience smh,
- 44:44Speaker 1: And someone responded and said Biden didn't want it, and
- 44:47Speaker 1: she replied, well, I can imagine why with the eyes
- 44:51Speaker 1: rolling emoji, and they should leave the mics on and
- 44:53Speaker 1: have two moderators, liberal and conservative.
- 44:56Speaker 2: I'm not against a lot of these. Well, I don't
- 44:58Speaker 2: know about the audience. I think the the audience makes
- 45:00Speaker 2: it chievements of debate a bit. Yeah, but yeah, sure boy,
- 45:03Speaker 2: they could pretty much all use more moderation.
- 45:06Speaker 1: She liked a post announcing that JD. Vance was selected
- 45:11Speaker 1: as Trump's running mate.
- 45:13Speaker 2: Maybe she thought they were really going to stop the
- 45:14Speaker 2: wars in the Middle East. That she bought into the
- 45:17Speaker 2: affordability stuff.
- 45:19Speaker 1: Oh, anyone who believed that is dumb.
- 45:22Speaker 2: I agree.
- 45:23Speaker 1: She liked a video of someone painting over a mural
- 45:27Speaker 1: of Kamala Harris after the end of the election.
- 45:30Speaker 2: There's a lot of posts these are I would probably
- 45:33Speaker 2: like that, So I don't know.
- 45:35Speaker 1: The jury is out.
- 45:36Speaker 2: Maybe she's just a little based, just a little teasy bit.
- 45:39Speaker 1: Yeah, who knows. But here's the thing. Something like fifty
- 45:43Speaker 1: million people voted for Trump. I can't boycott all of them,
- 45:46Speaker 1: especially when they're putting on a banger of a show
- 45:48Speaker 1: at the Intuit Dome.
- 45:50Speaker 2: Yeah. True.
- 45:51Speaker 1: In October and tickets are very affordably rist.
- 45:55Speaker 2: I didn't know the T and tea bar stood for Trump. Yeah, yeah,
- 45:59Speaker 2: what does ta mean? I remember looking this up.
- 46:02Speaker 1: I believe it's just a play on her name, isn't it.
- 46:06Speaker 2: Your first name is Teon and boz is slang for boss.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, her name's Tion Watkins. Fucking love TLC goddamn.
- 46:14Speaker 1: So yeah, who knows. I guess the jury is still
- 46:17Speaker 1: out on whether Chili is a Trump supporter. She claims
- 46:20Speaker 1: she's not, So who knows. But that's our episode. We
- 46:24Speaker 1: did it, Connor, thank you so much for doing the pod.
- 46:26Speaker 1: As always, what do we have to plug before we
- 46:29Speaker 1: get out of here? I got a couple new true
- 46:31Speaker 1: crime podcasts coming up soon, one about the history of
- 46:35Speaker 1: true crime that I'll be hosting with Kerry Martin, and
- 46:37Speaker 1: one about the fantastic true crime TV show fear Thy Neighbor,
- 46:41Speaker 1: which does feel like government propaganda is designed to convince
- 46:46Speaker 1: you that, hey, you didn't want to buy a house anyway,
- 46:49Speaker 1: look what happens when you do. That will be co
- 46:51Speaker 1: hosted by YouTube sensation John Lewis, so be on the
- 46:55Speaker 1: lookout for those and other stuff. Connor, what do you
- 46:57Speaker 1: want to plug.

- 47:09Speaker 2: Goodbye everybody.
