- 0:00Announcer: Welcome to In His Hands podcast from Women for Women.
- 0:03Announcer: We're here to help you find peace in knowing you are in God's hands.
- 0:07Announcer: Our goal is sharing the Word of God in simple conversations.
- 0:12Announcer: You're here to help you thrive every day.
- 0:14Announcer: And now here are your hosts.
- 0:17Tiffany Windsor: Good morning.
- 0:18Tiffany Windsor: I'm Tiffany Windsor and I'm Mary Mary.
- 0:21Tiffany Windsor: Today we want to talk about being fearless, but may I ask you to pray us in first.
- 0:28Mary Koning: Yes, in Timothy, god has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love and sound mind.
- 0:35Mary Koning: And, lord, we just ask all of those things of you power, love and a sound mind and it doesn't come from us, it comes from you, and we acknowledge that all good things come from you.
- 0:49Mary Koning: You're our Father, who provides those things.
- 0:51Mary Koning: We're thankful that you do.
- 0:53Mary Koning: I confess that I sometimes make you small to fit into my vision of what you aren't doing or how you're not answering my prayers, but that's not true.
- 1:03Mary Koning: So I speak against that lie and we come with supplication for you to provide all those things for us as wise women of faith, and we ask all of this in your precious son Jesus, his name, amen, amen, thank you.
- 1:20Mary Koning: I love that this podcast is on a platform called Audacity, because it's audacious for us to sit here and talk about these things.
- 1:31Tiffany Windsor: I know.
- 1:31Tiffany Windsor: Yesterday I spent some time because we're recording ahead, so I had to go back to see where we were and what's airing and such, and it was so interesting just to see the strength of the topics that we've been talking about over these weeks.
- 1:45Tiffany Windsor: I'm very excited about everything that we have to say and that we're willing to share, because what I'm finding is, as women especially, we may not always speak up when we should.
- 2:00Tiffany Windsor: That's just an unfolding for me and I wanted to share that.
- 2:05Mary Koning: I think that's on point with what Pastor said today about what's our assignment for today.
- 2:09Mary Koning: What's the assignment?
- 2:10Mary Koning: It's interesting that we have these talks on Sunday after church and hearing the message about praying is a two-way dialogue, so asking and then hearing.
- 2:21Mary Koning: I have to ask in part down, but not so much the hearing.
- 2:25Tiffany Windsor: It's difficult to trust and listening.
- 2:29Tiffany Windsor: What we also have to remember is we may not get answers right away and in the moment we may be looking for an answer.
- 2:36Tiffany Windsor: I need to know right away what I should do.
- 2:39Tiffany Windsor: I think that's a muscle that you build up.
- 2:42Tiffany Windsor: The more we pray, the more that our prayers will be answered.
- 2:46Tiffany Windsor: What I love today that I heard was pray first.
- 2:50Tiffany Windsor: Pray first.
- 2:51Tiffany Windsor: And again this ties in with fear and fearlessness, because if we go into prayer first, I think that helps to write our thinking.
- 3:01Tiffany Windsor: Fear can be such a dark space and this restrictive space of not wanting to move and prayer moves you.
- 3:10Tiffany Windsor: So it's not comfortable all the time, but it's where we should start Pray first, listen and move past the fear.
- 3:22Mary Koning: That is so, wise wise woman, and you've also given me advice when I've paralyzed with fear is just go do something.
- 3:30Mary Koning: And the doing of something with my hands cleaning something, packing something freeze my brain.
- 3:36Mary Koning: I'd re listened to our wise woman talk and I hardly recognize her and that is so exciting to me.
- 3:44Mary Koning: And I'm trying to go back through my journal, my journal, every day to see what my headspace was back then and what happened in the meantime, and then re listening so that I can help myself and maybe help somebody else.
- 3:57Mary Koning: And what I found was that community we had dinner with a sweet friend and she had also advised me that time.
- 4:06Mary Koning: We had dinner with her, but also a time before, and she made a motion.
- 4:09Mary Koning: It's her flat hand and a fist of the other hand coming strong.
- 4:13Mary Koning: That hand motion went along with.
- 4:16Mary Koning: God has to do this.
- 4:17Mary Koning: It's too big, it's too hard for me, it's too big and too hard and God will do it.
- 4:23Mary Koning: And he did.
- 4:24Mary Koning: He did.
- 4:25Mary Koning: But not only did he do that, it was something with finances and the ex who is problematic, and money, and money feels hard these days just because it's a trust journey and a fear journey that the Lord's walking me through.
- 4:43Mary Koning: But he did.
- 4:45Mary Koning: God showed up for me, and so I made a list back at that time when I was in fear, of all the things that I was fearful about and how God is answering them, and that is exercise and trust, and that God shows up and hello, he hears and answers prayers.
- 5:02Tiffany Windsor: And I know this but I forget it.
- 5:04Tiffany Windsor: Here's what I loved about what you just said is going back and listening to our Wise Woman podcast and realizing the growth that you have gone through.
- 5:14Tiffany Windsor: So I started working on an easing.
- 5:16Tiffany Windsor: I want to have some sort of monthly or bimonthly communication with everyone and there's not enough time in our podcast that when we have nine minutes, 10 minutes, 14 minutes, that's by our choice of how long we talk about these topics.
- 5:31Tiffany Windsor: So I started going through and trying to decide what it is that I wanted to talk about.
- 5:37Tiffany Windsor: So I've been going back and listening to our podcasts and as I was trying to write the introduction to the first easing, I went back to remember how we started and I'm calling him our driveway chats, For whatever reason, the Lord told us we needed to go out and buy this equipment so we could start recording those chats.
- 5:58Tiffany Windsor: This has never been about how many people can we reach.
- 6:02Tiffany Windsor: We just had this drive to be able to talk and be fearless in our talking and be fearless in our growth, and so that's how that's reflecting for me today, because I was trying to find the words of how we started.
- 6:17Tiffany Windsor: I don't know how small the Lord or how large the Lord wants this to be this whole platform to be.
- 6:25Tiffany Windsor: I'm just listening and taking the steps and doing my work and so to come out with just the truth of we need to speak.
- 6:34Tiffany Windsor: That's how it all started.
- 6:36Mary Koning: And I would also like to hear again those tools that you're using and finding new ones for fearlessness, because to me, so much of what I do requires me to step out onto thin air.
- 6:51Mary Koning: And I just remember during the days, dark days, dark nights of the soul I used to call them during my divorce where I didn't have a job and I didn't know what roof was going to be over my head and where was it going to house the kids, I felt like I was windmilling, my hands and arms were just windmilling and I was like falling out of an airplane with no parachute and the Lord's like, just stand, can you just stand?
- 7:14Mary Koning: Because you're actually on the solid ground, you're on my firm foundation.
- 7:19Mary Koning: I'm like, oh, why does it feel like falling?
- 7:22Mary Koning: Well, it's because I'm looking at all around me instead of looking at the source and the provider of everything.
- 7:28Mary Koning: And he did.
- 7:29Mary Koning: And so, even though I knew all that, before the podcast on wise women, I had forgotten so dear one it's okay to forget, but you also need to remember.
- 7:42Tiffany Windsor: But we do need to strengthen that memory muscle and I'll have to look at my notes from today because I'm pretty sure pastor talked about that to go to the Lord first as opposed to going to the fear first.
- 7:56Tiffany Windsor: A lot of times then you forget the fear, not forget what you're supposed to.
- 8:03Tiffany Windsor: You're talking about forgetting.
- 8:04Tiffany Windsor: We need to forget the fear.
- 8:06Mary Koning: Oh, that's so good, but the fear leaves the impression, the imprint, and it's not even an actual thing.
- 8:12Mary Koning: It is the made up, the fear of what could happen, what might happen and never happens.
- 8:21Mary Koning: I find myself not revisiting, doing the process of did that fear happen?
- 8:26Mary Koning: Where did it come from?
- 8:27Mary Koning: Where's the source?
- 8:28Mary Koning: Another good friend has taught me about taking those thoughts captive, where I thought we'll shoot across our bow like a missile and we're like, oh nope, not going to let that one land and we use our weaponry right, Our songs of worship and calling a friend and praying and doing something else, rather than sitting in the fear.
- 8:47Tiffany Windsor: I have found for me, since I found my strength in the Lord, that I am constantly praying.
- 8:54Tiffany Windsor: It's so helpful, especially with all of the news that's going on, everything that's out in the world, and what, of course, are they trying to do?
- 9:05Tiffany Windsor: They they're trying to have you go into fear based on news that may or may not be accurate, that may or may not happen, and, as you were just talking, I was just thinking about that because I used to spend a lot more time paying attention to what's going on in the news and I'm finding that, once I've switched myself over to having the Lord lead me, I don't need all of that news because the Lord has my back.
- 9:34Tiffany Windsor: I don't want it to sound cliche, but I need to spend my time focusing and listening to the Lord and move past the fear-mongering that our outside world is trying to put on us to pull us away from our moments of prayer.
- 9:53Tiffany Windsor: I don't know, is that simplifying it too much?
- 9:55Tiffany Windsor: I think that's beautiful.
- 9:58Mary Koning: During a recovery group I was a part of for many years to just sort through the manipulation and false realities that I was dealing with, there was a few moments of a bell gong to my heart, this bell ringing truth, and that's just what I feel when I'm with you and you're speaking truth.
- 10:18Mary Koning: Is it just rings true?
- 10:19Mary Koning: There's that saying, but it echoes in my soul and my heart and I know it's true.
- 10:25Mary Koning: And those moments are so much easier for me to grab and hang on to.
- 10:29Mary Koning: And one of them that reminds me of something you heard was that the Lord will take care of you, and I think that was part of the Wise Women Podcast as well is that you knew that truth and you strapped it on, and that's the one you wear versus your fear backpack.
- 10:46Tiffany Windsor: Exactly, and it's so hard for me because I tend to speak my truth.
- 10:52Tiffany Windsor: In past years, my sisters would get very upset with me because they didn't always want to hear what I had to say and it's like I can't stop myself, as I was telling you this morning.
- 11:03Tiffany Windsor: It's like that's why I don't have many friends, because people don't want to hear the truth, whether it's coming from the little tidbits I get or even coming from someone else.
- 11:15Tiffany Windsor: It's so hard because they get stuck in fear and it's so sad to me to see how they're not living their lives and just as this repeat, it is this film that's on repeat after repeat and they experience the same things in their lives over and over again.
- 11:34Tiffany Windsor: If we don't move and grow past those moments, it's going to keep on repeat and I can tell you you can move past that and it's okay.
- 11:45Tiffany Windsor: It may be scary, it may be ups and downs, but you will make it through it and I don't know how to comfort people.
- 11:53Tiffany Windsor: It's not up to me to comfort.
- 11:55Tiffany Windsor: The Lord will put words into my mouth to try to explain to you and to bring you comfort.
- 12:00Tiffany Windsor: I just encourage you to.
- 12:03Tiffany Windsor: In the moment that that fear pops up, grab another thought.
- 12:07Tiffany Windsor: That's the toolbox.
- 12:09Tiffany Windsor: We keep talking about toolboxes.
- 12:11Tiffany Windsor: It's either having scripture to turn to.
- 12:13Tiffany Windsor: It's the mantra that I did for many years before I became a Christian, which was cancel clear, bless the fear, choose again, choose God.
- 12:21Tiffany Windsor: You have to be able to turn off the noise.
- 12:26Tiffany Windsor: What radio station are you on?
- 12:28Tiffany Windsor: Change the station in your mind to God and not to the fear station.
- 12:34Mary Koning: I love that and the verses take every thought captive and sometimes that's just not enough.
- 12:39Mary Koning: What's really helped me lately is the hand motion, the fist on an open palm, like God has to do that, and I'm a teacher and sometimes the kids will see me saying that and I'm like, no, I'm taking every thought captive and they're like, oh, they're little still and they act before they think.
- 12:57Tiffany Windsor: Mary, since we are running out of time today, let's go ahead and wrap up and come back next week with part two of Fearless.
- 13:06Mary Koning: That sounds wonderful and I encourage you to Fearless my sweet sisters.
