- 0:01John chapter 16. Let us pray, O Heavenly Father,
- 0:07we thank you, Lord, for another day to come and sit at your
- 0:11feet, to come and dine and Sup with you.
- 0:14Lord, we are asking for a divine touch today, a divine encounter
- 0:19today. Teach us your holy scriptures,
- 0:22Teach us your divine paths. Father, we thank you God for the
- 0:27inspired word. We thank you for the complete
- 0:30authority. God, we just want more of you.
- 0:33We want a deeper revelation of Jesus Christ.
- 0:36Lord, we want to know that you're with us and that you are
- 0:40for us and not against us. God, we want to know that you're
- 0:43fighting our we want to know that we are more than
- 0:47conquerors. Lord, give us the mind of Christ
- 0:49and help us to do war with the darkness.
- 0:52Lord, I pray that you will come and show up and show off in this
- 0:57place. Lord, we confess and repent of
- 1:00all the times that we made it about sin and self.
- 1:03Lord, we repent of all the times that we were self reliant and
- 1:08all the times that we thought that we knew better.
- 1:12God, we confess that you are Lord Jesus Christ and Holy
- 1:17Spirit. We are asking for you to be our
- 1:20teacher today. Show up and teach us all of the
- 1:24Lorde ways, all of the Lorde paths.
- 1:27Give us divine counsel, give us more of yourself.
- 1:33And we want to be filled to the brim and overflowing into our
- 1:37neighborhoods, into this country, and into the world at
- 1:42large. Father, we just want more of
- 1:45you. And so Lord, empower us and fill
- 1:48us today and give us a greater portion.
- 1:53Lord, give us a double portion. Father, I pray that you will
- 1:57help us to do the things that you are asking of us today,
- 2:02Lord. And we know that all of our
- 2:03righteousness is filthy rags. And so we are relying upon the
- 2:07blood of Jesus Christ. And we plead the blood of Jesus
- 2:11Christ, Lord, over all of our circumstances.
- 2:14We plead the blood of Christ over our emotions.
- 2:17We plead the blood of Christ over our families and houses.
- 2:21We plead the blood of Christ over our workplaces.
- 2:25We plead the blood of Christ over hospital rooms.
- 2:29And sails, Lord, we plead the blood of Christ over our cars,
- 2:33Lord, we plead the blood of Christ over government, Lord, we
- 2:37plead the blood of Christ over schools, Lord.
- 2:40And we are asking that Jesus be magnified and glorified in all
- 2:45the land throughout all the ages.
- 2:47Lord, raise up warriors unto yourself.
- 2:51Lord, I pray that we will be found with faith and be found
- 2:58doing the work of Jesus Christ, his hands and feet here on this
- 3:02earth. Lord, help us to do those
- 3:04greater things. Father, help us to know that you
- 3:07are in our midst and you are well pleased and you are fueling
- 3:11the journey and you're pushing us along to the end, Father,
- 3:16where we can be there with you and you with us.
- 3:19So we love you, Lord Jesus, and we thank you for these eternal
- 3:23inspired scriptures. I decrease as you increase.
- 3:28Jesus Christ, we love you and it's in your holy precious name
- 3:32that I pray, Amen. Let's start in verse one.
- 3:41These things have I spoken unto you that you should not be
- 3:46offended? Imagine that, friends, Jesus
- 3:50Christ is speaking the truth to us and He's telling us all these
- 3:55things. He's letting us into his mind so
- 3:57that when persecution comes, so that when that bad report comes,
- 4:03so that when that court summons comes, so that when you have the
- 4:08trials and tribulations and persecutions that are coming on
- 4:12your doorstep, you will not be offended and fall away.
- 4:17He said blessed are those that are not offended by him and he
- 4:20does not want us to be trapped by our own insecurities and by
- 4:26our own reasonings. He wants us to know the truth
- 4:29and he is the truth and he gives us line by line, precept on
- 4:34precept. He gives us all of the road map
- 4:39to get us to home and home is where he is.
- 4:42Home is the Lord Jesus Christ. So we can be sure that all of
- 4:47these words are trustworthy and true.
- 4:49We can be sure that if we will not rely on our own instincts,
- 4:53not rely on our own selfish cleverness, that we can make it
- 4:59to where He is by knowing these words, owning these words,
- 5:03living these words. And how many words has he given
- 5:06us in the last chapter or two? And here we go again as we enter
- 5:11into this next chapter, we're seeing Him give us this
- 5:16discourse that will help lead us home, help lead us in the face
- 5:22of persecution, lead us in the face of adversity.
- 5:26If we will memorize and hold on and hide these words in our
- 5:30heart, we will not be offended by all of the times that God and
- 5:35that Jesus and that Holy Spirit do not act in the way that we
- 5:39think that they should. We will not fall away when the
- 5:42world doesn't behave in the way that we think that it should.
- 5:45We will not fall away whenever all of these new Age cult ideas
- 5:50come our way. We will be rooted and grounded
- 5:53in the Word of God. We will be rooted and grounded
- 5:55in the judeo-christian Bible from Genesis to Revelation, the
- 6:00God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
- 6:02And we thank you, Yahweh, for all of these inspired divine
- 6:06words that we have that we hold in our hands that are reading
- 6:10us. We don't read them, friends.
- 6:12They are interpreting us. We don't interpret them,
- 6:16friends. We obey these words.
- 6:18And with that obedience will come a defense against offense.
- 6:25Friends 2. They shall put you out of the
- 6:29synagogues. Yeah, the time comes.
- 6:37That whosoever kills you will think that he does God's
- 6:41service. He's talking about the apostle
- 6:44Paul. He's talking about how Saul of
- 6:47Tarsus comes in and he's persecuting the early church and
- 6:51he thinks that he's doing God a service because this Nazarene
- 6:56sect has come in and they are teaching another way.
- 7:01And here Paul thinks that he's doing God service, but he has to
- 7:05get wrecked on the road to Damascus for him to understand
- 7:10that he's persecuting God himself when he persecutes Jesus
- 7:14Christ. And we need to know that,
- 7:16friends, that persecution is all around us, for us.
- 7:20It might be subtle, it might be the cancel culture, it might be
- 7:25the loss of a job promotion. It might be in a lot of myriad
- 7:29of ways of subtle persecution. But you can see mainstream
- 7:34politics, mainstream news. You can see it, friends, that
- 7:39this blaspheming of God and this blaspheming of his Son is
- 7:44increased incrementally friends. And it used to be just for the
- 7:50profane. It used to be just for the
- 7:52hidden by night kind. But now it is in the light, it
- 7:57is reared it's ugly head, and we can see persecution, we can see
- 8:01it all around us, and we can see that this whole culture has
- 8:08turned away and they are turning towards sin and self.
- 8:14And they say they have no room in modernism for a barbaric,
- 8:18archaic God. But I want you to know He's just
- 8:22as alive and active today as he was from eternal.
- 8:25And He is moving mightily in our midst, and He is separating the
- 8:29sheep and the goats. And I pray in the midst of
- 8:33persecution that you and that I will be able to stand firm until
- 8:38the end, not wavering in our faith, not willing to renounce
- 8:42Him. In the midst of all of it.
- 8:44Let's stand firm. Let's charge the hill.
- 8:47Let's know that we have more power inside of us then all of
- 8:53the governments and armies in the whole world put together.
- 8:56There's more power in one sold out blood believer of Jesus
- 9:00Christ and all the atomic bombs put together.
- 9:04Friends, we can have peace. We can have peace in the midst
- 9:07of the storm. We can have His power from on
- 9:12high if we will just trust in Him through it all.
- 9:16He's going to lead us in passive righteousness.
- 9:18He's going to lead us home, friends, to where he is.
- 9:23Verse 3 And these things will they do unto you, because they
- 9:28have not known the Father nor me.
- 9:30They are listening to the Father of lies.
- 9:33They are listening to Satan. You cannot serve both God and
- 9:37Mammon. You will love 1 and you will
- 9:39hate the other. And they have rejected Yahweh,
- 9:42they have rejected God Almighty. They have rejected El Shaddai
- 9:47because they are in love with self and money and power and
- 9:53greed. They're in love with this world,
- 9:55friends, For but these things have I told you that when the
- 10:02time shall come, you may remember that I told you of
- 10:06them. And these things I said not unto
- 10:09you at the beginning, because I was with you.
- 10:12So we know that the coming of the Comforter, the Holy Spirit,
- 10:16the Holy Ghost coming in US is much better.
- 10:20And Jesus wanted his band of disciples to understand that it
- 10:25was much better for Him to go so that he could send the Helper.
- 10:28And he was saying that he did not need to explain all of the
- 10:32things that would come yet because He was there in their
- 10:36midst. And it was the time for His
- 10:42earthly ministry here. It was time for Him to be here
- 10:48in bodily form, but he knew that his time to go to the right hand
- 10:53of the father was at hand, only hours away at this point.
- 10:58And he was explaining to them to take heart, to take courage, and
- 11:04to be peaceful, and to know that even though he was leaving them,
- 11:10not to be frightened, but to wait on the power of Pentecost,
- 11:15wait on the baptism of fire and the tongues coming down like
- 11:20fire, to wait for them to be in dwelled with the Holy Ghost.
- 11:24And then they would understand that the power that was
- 11:27available to them was much better than just having Him in
- 11:31the midst to teach them. And they needed to hold on to
- 11:35all of these words and remember all of these words.
- 11:39And it's the same call for you and the same call for me, that
- 11:42we would do well in the midst of all of our trials and
- 11:46tribulations and persecutions, to go back and search the
- 11:49Scriptures, to bring up out of the wellspring of our heart all
- 11:53of these words. And remember that He gives us
- 11:56peace, but not as the world gives. 5 But now I go my way to
- 12:01him that sent me, and none of you asked me, Where do you go?
- 12:056 But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow has
- 12:09filled your heart. So here you remember that Thomas
- 12:15and Peter in previous chapters they have said, Where are you
- 12:18going? And then here Jesus says, None
- 12:21of you ask, where do you go? So for them, Peter and John and
- 12:27the disciples at large, they were more self-centered, wanting
- 12:32to know how could they join in on wherever Jesus was about to
- 12:38go. Here Jesus is explaining to them
- 12:41that he's going to death, he's going to the cross, and he knew
- 12:47that they would be scattered like sheep, that they would all
- 12:50turn and run away from their master.
- 12:54And so here he is saying, do not even ask where I am going.
- 12:59You will not ask if you can go there because you're about to be
- 13:03scattered. And then he says the sorrow that
- 13:07has filled their heart, they had lost all their bravado.
- 13:12They had lost all of this nonsense talk of I will go to
- 13:17you or with you to death. They had lost all of it.
- 13:20They were full of sorrow because they knew at this point that he
- 13:25was about to go to the cross. 7 Nevertheless, I tell you the
- 13:32truth, it is expedient for you that I go away.
- 13:36For if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto
- 13:40you. But if I depart, I will send him
- 13:43unto you. So we can see here that the Holy
- 13:46Spirit is coming on the scene and it is going to indwell us.
- 13:50And Jesus Christ said that the least in the Kingdom of God is
- 13:55greater than John the Baptist, who was the greatest prophet and
- 13:58all the prophets of old. Long to see the day that you and
- 14:02I live in, to be indwelled with the Holy Spirit, friends, and to
- 14:06have discernment friends, and to be able to commune with the
- 14:11Father on a constant basis. Even as you dream and sleep.
- 14:16He gives you dreams and visions and prophecies.
- 14:19And we need to know that these disciples at this time, they
- 14:24were still operating in the carnal.
- 14:26They were still operating and all they had to go by were their
- 14:29senses and their conscience. They were not yet indwelled like
- 14:33you and I. What a privilege and what a
- 14:35responsibility you and I have to be filled with the Holy Spirit
- 14:41and to operate in that office, friends.
- 14:45And we need to not sear our consciences.
- 14:48We need to make sure that we do not grieve the Holy Spirit.
- 14:52We need to make sure that we keep and cultivate that
- 14:55relationship, vibrant friends, and we need to be able to sit
- 15:00and to know that He is God and to listen for that still small
- 15:05voice that speaks to you loudly and boldly and roars like a lion
- 15:10of Judah. We need to be able to discern
- 15:13whenever the Lord is telling us things that are even
- 15:15counterintuitive to our own thoughts, counterintuitive to
- 15:19our own emotions. We need to know that it is the
- 15:22Lord speaking and it comes by faith.
- 15:25You increase your faith, you walk not by sight but by faith,
- 15:30and you will be able to discern the voice of the Lord in your
- 15:34life. And he's telling us it's much
- 15:37more expedient for him to go away.
- 15:41And when he has come, He will reprove the world of sin and of
- 15:45righteousness and of judgment. So you can see here that as the
- 15:50Holy Spirit comes in, his work is to reveal Jesus Christ to the
- 15:55world. His work is to give us Jesus's
- 15:59heart when it comes to the sin in our lives, to give us Jesus's
- 16:03heart when it comes to the righteousness that only Jesus
- 16:07Christ could fulfill fully. He was the only one that was
- 16:12sinless so that he is the only one that has full authority over
- 16:16sin. He was the only one that was
- 16:19righteous and his righteousness can be ours.
- 16:22And when we put on the blood of Jesus Christ and he tells us end
- 16:26of judgement. So he will give us sound mind to
- 16:30be able to discern the things that are evil and to discern the
- 16:34things that are good and, and to be able to rightfully judge a
- 16:38situation. When there are two people that
- 16:41are blinded and delusional, we will be able to see through all
- 16:44of their duplicity. We'll be able to see through all
- 16:48of their schemes and trickery, friends, because we have this
- 16:51mind of Christ that comes through being indwelled with the
- 16:54Holy Spirit. 9 of sin, because they believe not on me. 10 of
- 17:01righteousness, because I go to my Father and you see me no
- 17:05more. 11 of judgment, because the Prince of this world is
- 17:09judged. So he's showing that he disarmed
- 17:14all of Satan's rule. He snatched the keys to death
- 17:19and hell, and he made a public spectacle of all of evil and
- 17:25darkness, and he put him to shame.
- 17:28What the world thought of as Jesus.
- 17:31Embarrassment wrought his victory for you and for me to be
- 17:36indwelled with the Holy Spirit and he knew it.
- 17:39And it was a masterpiece that was painted all throughout
- 17:43history, all throughout the Old Testament.
- 17:46You're going to see as we study through it, you're going to see
- 17:50Jesus Christ on every page. You're going to see this grand
- 17:54masterpiece that God was painting all the way back from
- 17:57the beginning that all points and culminates to this moment
- 18:01that we're in here. Well, I have yet many things to
- 18:08say unto you, but you cannot bear them now.
- 18:10So you know, God gives us revelation by degree.
- 18:14And so if he was to pour out all of His divine revelation on a
- 18:19babe in Christ, it would overpower them to the point
- 18:23where they could not steward it. They would not be able to
- 18:28harness the amount of revelation that God Almighty wants to give
- 18:32to us. And He has to take care of the
- 18:36most obvious things in the beginning.
- 18:39And then as we go along with Him and we think that it is easy to
- 18:44stiff arm all of the outright sins that we know of, all of the
- 18:49things that have plagued us and plagued the world at large.
- 18:53He will start to reveal even the nuances in your life.
- 18:57He will start to reveal the things that you have hidden in a
- 19:00way that you don't think anybody knows about.
- 19:02He will start to reveal all of your inner motives and your
- 19:07emotions and all the things that you in the beginning thought
- 19:12were not even necessary. And God is after the whole
- 19:16heart. You're all your strength and all
- 19:19your mind. He's not after a halfway
- 19:21lukewarm Christianity. He desires for you to be either
- 19:25hot or cold friends. And so therefore we cannot play
- 19:30the middle. We have to make sure that our
- 19:32love burns for our Father and for the Lord Lord Jesus Christ.
- 19:36And he's saying he has much more things and he's going to reveal
- 19:39them in the Pauline epistles. He's going to reveal them in the
- 19:44apocalyptic writings. He's going to reveal them to us
- 19:48throughout all of the New Testament and from acts all the
- 19:53way to revelation. This is the much more that He
- 19:57spoke of. And you and I, we just compound
- 20:00upon this finished work. That's all we do.
- 20:03We don't add anything to it. All we do is reveal what has
- 20:07already been said and we reveal how it pertains to this time,
- 20:13for such a time as this. And it is finished, and it is
- 20:16authoritative for all mankind, for the entire globe, all over.
- 20:22Every land, every people group, every tongue, every nationality,
- 20:28it is truth and He is the only way.
- 20:32He is the truth and He is life and He is life abundant.
- 20:36And we must come to him and believe that God is and believe
- 20:41that Jesus was raised from the dead and that Jesus is the Lord
- 20:45and we must believe that He has great plans for us.
- 20:50Friends 13 How be it when he, the Spirit of truth has come, He
- 20:56will guide you into all truth, for he shall not speak of
- 21:00himself, but whatsoever He shall hear that shall He speak, and He
- 21:05will show you things to come. So He's telling us the office of
- 21:09the Holy Spirit and how it all works.
- 21:11And he's showing us that God the Father, God the Son, and God the
- 21:16Holy Ghost are one, and they are of 1 accord and they're
- 21:19congruent and they all are saying the same thing because
- 21:24they are one. And He's showing us that as the
- 21:28Holy Spirit indwells us, He's going to lead us in those paths
- 21:32of righteousness. He's going to show us the
- 21:35eternal paths. He's going to help us to not
- 21:38make the wrong decisions in this life.
- 21:40And we don't have to be afraid if God is mad at us.
- 21:44We don't have to be afraid if we're making the wrong
- 21:47decisions, if we will stay in constant communion with Him.
- 21:53Remain in the vine, friends, stay in constant communion with
- 21:58Father God through His Son Jesus Christ as we are indwelled with
- 22:03the Holy Spirit. Then you can know that you know
- 22:07that you know that you know that even in the menial, mundane
- 22:10things of life that He is all around you and He is leading
- 22:14you. Just like when Moses was in the
- 22:16wilderness for 40 years, God was doing a great work.
- 22:20And the greatest work that God does in our lives is in the
- 22:23waiting. It's not in these monumental
- 22:25moments that mark our lives for all of mankind, for history.
- 22:30That is not it. It's the waiting, friends, that
- 22:33he's pulling out all the dross and the impurities.
- 22:35It's in the waiting that he's refining you in the refiners
- 22:38fire. It's in the waiting that he's
- 22:40polishing you so that he can see His reflection in you.
- 22:44Friends, 14 He shall glorify me there.
- 22:49He shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you.
- 22:54He's saying that the Holy Spirit and Jesus Christ words are
- 23:00synonymous. 15 All things that the Father has are mine.
- 23:07Therefore I said that he shall take of mine, and shall show it
- 23:12unto you. So Jesus here is declaring his
- 23:16divinity his deity, that He and the Father are equal. 16 A
- 23:23little while and you shall not see me.
- 23:26And again a little while and you shall see me, because I go to
- 23:31the Father. So here, this is Him Speaking of
- 23:35His death, His resurrection. He's Speaking of a second
- 23:38advent, he's Speaking of all of the timeline of things that are
- 23:42to come, and he's saying I must go to the cross, but I will
- 23:47resurrect, and I will appear to many, and I will ascend to the
- 23:50right hand of the Father, and then I will come back, and I
- 23:53will gather you to myself, and there you will be with me
- 23:57forever. 17 Then said some of the disciples among themselves,
- 24:03What is this that he says unto us, A little while and you shall
- 24:07not see me. And again a little while and you
- 24:10shall see me. And because I go to the Father.
- 24:14So Jesus here is having to deal with a band of unlearned men who
- 24:19at this point were not indwelled with the Holy Spirit, and they
- 24:22were still relying on their carnal impulses, they were still
- 24:27relying upon their conscience, and they had not yet been
- 24:31indwelled. And so therefore, they're
- 24:33wrestling through all of these eternal words that have
- 24:37ramifications for all ages. And here they are, boots on the
- 24:41ground, and they're trying to figure it all out.
- 24:44And we are eternally grateful for their questionings because
- 24:48Jesus knows their hearts and their minds and their thoughts,
- 24:52and he wants to comfort them. 18 They said, Therefore, what is
- 25:00this, that he says a little while.
- 25:02We cannot tell what he says. 19 Now Jesus knew that they were
- 25:07desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do you inquire among
- 25:14yourselves of that I said, a little while, and you shall not
- 25:17see me, and again a little while, and you shall see me. 20
- 25:22Truly, truly, I say unto you that you shall weep and lament,
- 25:33but the world shall rejoice. You shall be sorrowful, but your
- 25:39sorrow will be turned into joy. He's talking about his death.
- 25:45He's talking about the shame and the embarrassment of their
- 25:48master being crucified, being whipped with the cat O9, tails
- 25:55being scourged and his flesh being ripped open.
- 26:01He's talking about their dismay when they're all disbanded and
- 26:05run and scatter. He's talking about the denial of
- 26:11Peter three times. He's talking about nails through
- 26:16his wrists and his feet. He's talking about him hanging
- 26:22there, suffocating as the world looks on, saying, you said you
- 26:28could save the world, save yourself, come down from there
- 26:32and we'll believe on you. And they are mocking the God of
- 26:38the universe. And all these disciples at that
- 26:43moment would be stricken with grief.
- 26:48But he tells them, and he hints to them of his resurrection
- 26:53power, and he has the power to lay down his life, and he has
- 26:57the power to take it up again. And no one took his life from
- 27:01him, but he breathed his last. 21 A woman when she is in
- 27:10travail, has sorrow because her hour has come, but as soon as
- 27:17she is delivered of the child, she remembers no more the
- 27:20anguish for joy that a man is born into the world.
- 27:24So we can see here that the birth pains are happening and
- 27:29that the head of the child is crowning.
- 27:32We can see here that we are closer today than we were
- 27:36yesterday and we need to know that all of these birth pains
- 27:40are pointing to the second advent of Jesus Christ.
- 27:45We can know that as all of the contractions are closer and
- 27:49closer together, that the leaves on the fig tree are near, the
- 27:54summer is near, and that we can see that Jesus Christ and his
- 27:59second advent is imminent. And here he is Speaking of the
- 28:03natural when a woman is about to give birth and she goes through
- 28:08so much pain as she is birthing this child, But the moment that
- 28:13the child is safe and sound and in her arms, all of that is
- 28:17nothing. And he's saying it will be much
- 28:19like that as we enter in to the outer bands of tribulation, as
- 28:25we enter in to the outer bands of the beast system, as we start
- 28:29to see it all queued up, as we start to see everything getting
- 28:34in line with the Antichrist in the way of all of evil coming
- 28:40and having its heyday. We can see here that it will be
- 28:44anguish and sorrow. But the moment that Christ
- 28:48reveals himself to the whole world, and comes back with all
- 28:52angelic hosts and his Saints with him, and writing in with a
- 28:58name on his thigh, faithful and true, and with a sharp 2 edged
- 29:02sword from his mouth, and eyes like fire, and hair like wool,
- 29:05we can be sure that our redemption has drawn.
- 29:12And we will all see it, and we will rejoice.
- 29:15Friends 22 And you now therefore have sorrow.
- 29:23But I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and
- 29:27your joy no man takes from you. So you can see here that Jesus
- 29:32is promising that we will see him again.
- 29:35He's saying here that no one will be able to take the joy
- 29:42that he gives to us away. This is boundless, endless joy
- 29:46in the midst and in all trials and tribulations.
- 29:51This is in the midst of all the chaos all around us.
- 29:54We can have joy. I pray that that's your story.
- 29:58I pray that you understand that you can't be blown to and fro.
- 30:02You cannot have a salvation that is just based upon emotion.
- 30:07You cannot have have a salvation that is just based upon
- 30:11everything going your way. We have to know that God's way
- 30:16is whenever we get out of our own way and we actually give him
- 30:21the steering wheel, the gas pedal, the brake, we give him
- 30:24the keys to the locked box, we give him the keys to the house,
- 30:29we give him all access to everything.
- 30:32And we say your way is better, Yahweh.
- 30:35And we love the Lord Jesus Christ and we can trust Him even
- 30:40in all of the sorrow and grief in our lives, we can trust Him.
- 30:46I pray that you understand that no man can take away that joy.
- 30:55He's promising to come and gather us again. 23 And in that
- 31:01day you shall ask me nothing truly, truly, I say unto you,
- 31:08whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name, he will give
- 31:11it to you. So we need to know here in this
- 31:14little verse, verse 23, in that day when He comes back in all
- 31:22His glory. We have all heard growing up
- 31:26that one day when we get there, we can ask Him the hard
- 31:29questions that we don't have answers to on this side.
- 31:32But the reality and the brevity and the gravity of it all,
- 31:37friends, is that when we finally see Him, we will be undone.
- 31:45When He comes in all of His glory, friends, and He
- 31:49encompasses us in His glory, we will be completely undone.
- 31:58There will be such glory that encompasses us that we will not
- 32:03be able to speak. All we will do is lay at His
- 32:12feet and worship and He will have to lift our chin up.
- 32:20He will have to fix our eyes upon Him because when we finally
- 32:27see the risen Lord coming in all of His glory, it will be a wait
- 32:38unlike anything that we have ever experienced.
- 32:41And there will be those who try to run and hide and try to hide
- 32:46themselves in the caves and under rocks because of this
- 32:50glory coming in the clouds, that he told Caiaphas that he would
- 32:56see him coming. And whenever that day happens,
- 33:00Friends, it will be a scene unlike this world has ever
- 33:06known. He's not coming back as a little
- 33:09child in a Manger, weak. He's coming back as the ruler of
- 33:15the universe. He's coming back as the mighty
- 33:22king of Friends. And we would all do well to know
- 33:27that the only thing that we will be able to do in that moment is
- 33:31worship. And he's saying that on this
- 33:34side of things, if we will just ask it in His name, He will do
- 33:40it for us. And whenever it is in line with
- 33:44the will of the Lord and the Word of God, that is when you
- 33:47see mighty miracles happening all around you. 24 From hitherto
- 34:00have you asked nothing in my name?
- 34:04Ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full.
- 34:08So he's telling us the way to this fullness of joy.
- 34:12It is not relying on our own senses, it's not allowing the
- 34:17weight of this world to crush us, friends, but it is going to
- 34:21Him and increasing our faith. And it is speaking to the Father
- 34:26through the Son, through the name of Jesus Christ, the name
- 34:29that is above all names, the only name that has any power to
- 34:34subdue all of the darkness and the demonic and to subdue all of
- 34:41the plagues in our lives, all of the things that are trying to
- 34:45crush us. We speak that name in darkness
- 34:49flees. And he's saying, if you want
- 34:52this joy, speak his name over that situation.
- 34:56Speak a better word over the lies of the enemy that comes
- 35:00creeping in, trying to get you to relinquish your inheritance,
- 35:06trying to get you to forget who you belong to, trying to get you
- 35:10to forget that you are indwelled with the Holy Spirit and have
- 35:15all the authority and power in Jesus name. 25 These things have
- 35:23I spoken unto you in Proverbs, but the time comes when I shall
- 35:29no more speak unto you in Proverbs, but I shall show you
- 35:32plainly of the Father. So here we know that Jesus would
- 35:38speak to them a lot of times in parables, and then he privately
- 35:45would discuss it with his disciples plainly, and he would
- 35:49say, O ye of little faith. And they needed to increase
- 35:53their faith. But when the Holy Spirit comes
- 35:56and dwells within us, we can know the mind of Christ, We can
- 36:01understand these scriptures, and we need to know that as we are
- 36:06reading the Scriptures, he is making it plain.
- 36:10This is plain language. And if it's still a mystery unto
- 36:16you, then my advice is to go and pour yourself out.
- 36:22Pour all of your own understanding out.
- 36:25Pull. Pour all of your own
- 36:27presuppositions and ideology of how God is to operate and what
- 36:33God is and how God is and who Jesus is.
- 36:36Pour it all out at the altar. Pour it all out at the foot of
- 36:41the cross and ask the Lord to give you the Holy Spirit and to
- 36:45give you discernment in this baptism of fire and so that you
- 36:49can have this plain theology that is simple.
- 36:55It's a simple gospel, friends. We complicate it.
- 36:59We get in our own way and we need the Holy Spirit to be our
- 37:04guide. We don't need to rely on our own
- 37:07understanding. 26 At that day you shall ask in my name, and I
- 37:14say not unto you, that I will pray the Father for you.
- 37:21So he is making intercession for us, even the Holy Spirit.
- 37:26He tells the Father what all of our groanings are, all of the
- 37:32things that we don't even understand that are happening,
- 37:35all the emotions and feelings that we are going through.
- 37:39The Holy Spirit is revealing all of that to the Father.
- 37:44Even as we are praying and we don't know what to pray, the
- 37:47Holy Spirit prays for us. And here Jesus is telling us
- 37:52that He is going to speak for us to the Father.
- 37:56He is going to let the Father know that we belong to Him, that
- 38:01He knows us. It's not enough to know Him.
- 38:05We have to be known by Him, friends, and that is the point.
- 38:1127 For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me
- 38:17and have believed that I came out from God. 28 I came forth
- 38:22from the Father, and I am come into the world again.
- 38:26I leave the world and go to the Father.
- 38:29So here is the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ.
- 38:40Here He is revealing how He came as a little baby.
- 38:46He came from heaven and it was an Immaculate Conception the
- 38:52came to the Virgin Mary and how He was born in a Manger and
- 38:58lived a perfect, sinless life. And He was in His Father's house
- 39:03at the age of 12. He was about his Father's
- 39:06business. And then out of obedience to his
- 39:11parents and honoring them, he goes back and he lives a
- 39:15perfect, sinless life and then reveals himself to the world as
- 39:19the Messiah, and for three years walks this earth in his priestly
- 39:26ministry as the High Priest of the universe.
- 39:29And then he was beaten, stricken, mocked, and put in the
- 39:34tomb. And then he revealed himself to
- 39:38many and ascended to the right hand of God and sat down at the
- 39:45finished work of the cross. And it is all right here in
- 39:49verse 28. You can see that He came from
- 39:52the Father. He came into the world, He left
- 39:56the world and he went back to the Father.
- 39:58It's all encapsulated in one verse.
- 40:01Friends. 29 His disciples said unto him, Lo.
- 40:07Now you speak plainly, and speak no Proverb 30 Now are we sure
- 40:14that you know all things, and need not that any man should ask
- 40:18you? By this we believe that you came
- 40:21forth from God. So here the disciples are
- 40:25putting the declaration of their faith and they're telling the
- 40:30Lord Jesus Christ, we believe that you are who you say you
- 40:34are. And I pray that you can say the
- 40:36same thing. I pray that you know that Jesus
- 40:39Christ is the only way to the Father, that He is our
- 40:44salvation, that He is life and there is no life outside of
- 40:48Jesus Christ, and He is truth and there is no truth outside of
- 40:53Jesus Christ, and He is the way. He is the only way to the
- 40:57Father. And I pray that you understand
- 40:59that in the way that the disciples say that they did. 31
- 41:04Jesus answered them. Do you now believe?
- 41:0932 Behold, the hour comes. Yeah, it is now come that you
- 41:14shall be scattered, every man to his own, and shall leave me
- 41:18alone. And yet I am not alone, because
- 41:21the Father is with me. You can see Father Abraham and
- 41:28Isaac as they ascend the mountain, as God said, go and
- 41:33sacrifice your only son. And you can see that they were
- 41:37one as they went up the mountain.
- 41:40And Isaac dared not to try to leave his father's side.
- 41:45And you can see here Jesus as he's going to the cross.
- 41:51He knows that his Father is right there beside him.
- 41:55He's not alone, that God is well pleased and glorified in the
- 42:01obedience of the Son. 33 These things I've spoken unto you,
- 42:07that in me you might have peace in the world.
- 42:14You shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer.
- 42:19I have overcome the world. So this peace that Jesus offers
- 42:27us is not the same kind of peace that the world tells us that we
- 42:32should take. The world tells us that money is
- 42:36going to solve all of our problems.
- 42:38The world tells us that we need to fix these broken bodies.
- 42:42The world tells us we just need a better job, a better position,
- 42:48that we just need more time. The world tells us that peace
- 42:52comes from all of your retirement and savings.
- 42:56The world tells us that we need all of these policies and
- 43:01insurance. The world tells us that peace is
- 43:04found in a different partner and a different family in a solo
- 43:11career. The world tells us that we need
- 43:14more friends. The world tells us lots of
- 43:18things that are going to try and bring us peace, that we just
- 43:21need more, more, more. And it's materialism.
- 43:25It's consumerism, and it promises us peace, but it cannot
- 43:30deliver on it. Jesus gives us this peace in the
- 43:34midst of a storm, and it is through contentment.
- 43:37It is through resting on the finished work of the cross.
- 43:41It's by knowing that we were made for heaven.
- 43:43We were made for an eternal state.
- 43:46It's by knowing that this is not our home that we are headed
- 43:50somewhere far grander than this world could ever offer us.
- 43:54And we know that where He is, we will be.
- 43:56We know that this is not the end, and the peace that He gives
- 44:02to us, friends, is not like the world gives.
- 44:06We have to have this peace, and it is not anything like what the
- 44:14world offers. It's peace in the midst of all
- 44:18of the storm. And he tells us to be of good
- 44:22cheer. He has overcome the world.
- 44:24He snatched the keys to death and hell.
- 44:28And we do not need to fear death.
- 44:30We need to know that as we exit out of here, the only thing that
- 44:37we take with us are the things that we sent ahead.
- 44:42And I pray that you share your testimony with everyone that you
- 44:45meet. Pray that you share the love of
- 44:48God with your neighbors. I pray that you help to build up
- 44:52your brothers and sisters and not break them down.
- 44:56I pray that you are found in the Father's house doing the
- 45:01Father's will. I hope you've been blessed by
- 45:04this chapter. I know I sure have.
- 45:07Praying for every single one of you.
- 45:10I love you. We'll see you back here
- 45:14tomorrow. God bless you.
