- 0:01Speaker 1: Now seven Wor presents.
- 0:04Speaker 2: No Mark Simon Show. Well, we we'll get to the
- 0:09Speaker 2: super Bowl. We'll get to the Guthrie kidnapping, bring all
- 0:11Speaker 2: the latest. We'll get to the Washington Post. We'll get
- 0:13Speaker 2: to voter ID, We'll get to the crazy Mayor. We'll
- 0:16Speaker 2: get to Gallain. Maxwell testifying today, lots to talk about,
- 0:21Speaker 2: Like you, I probably I don't feel so great. Stomach full,
- 0:24Speaker 2: stomach ache from last eating too much. Super Bowl party,
- 0:27Speaker 2: you know, yesterday, of course super Bowl Sunday. Today they
- 0:31Speaker 2: call it miswork Monday. A lot of people call in
- 0:35Speaker 2: sick today or plan ahead and take the day off
- 0:37Speaker 2: because of the super Bowl party. So twenty six million,
- 0:41Speaker 2: twenty six million people have taken the day off today.
- 0:47Speaker 2: Maybe I should have too, but no, no, it's better
- 0:50Speaker 2: to work. Super Bowl was possibly the most boring Super
- 0:56Speaker 2: Bowl game ever. It was just a total mis match.
- 1:01Speaker 2: The season, it was a very weird season. Scheduling was
- 1:06Speaker 2: bad because the Patriots, they called it a soft schedule.
- 1:11Speaker 2: They didn't get any really tough games. They got really
- 1:13Speaker 2: easy teams to play, got them to seventeen and three,
- 1:16Speaker 2: which they probably didn't deserve. Then some weird things happen
- 1:20Speaker 2: in the playoffs where the teams that should have gone
- 1:22Speaker 2: to the super Bowl, Denver, the Bills, the Ramp the
- 1:25Speaker 2: teams that should have gone because just the way the
- 1:28Speaker 2: playoffs worked out, they somehow accidentally got eliminated. So you
- 1:31Speaker 2: had the Patriots, who weren't really ready for a super
- 1:34Speaker 2: Bowl against Seattle. So the Patriots not enough offense against
- 1:38Speaker 2: the best defense in the world, and it was a
- 1:41Speaker 2: kind of a dull game. Patriots are going to be great.
- 1:44Speaker 2: They were in the Super Bowl a couple of years
- 1:46Speaker 2: too early. Otherwise it went pretty well. You know, the
- 1:51Speaker 2: commercials were great, they were really well done, but they
- 1:55Speaker 2: didn't have the impact they usually have. A lot of
- 1:58Speaker 2: people not that thrilled with the commercials. I think the
- 2:02Speaker 2: reason is those commercials on the Super Bowl really dazzled you.
- 2:06Speaker 2: But now in the world of AI and Instagram and TikTok,
- 2:11Speaker 2: you see so many unbelievable videos AI videos, so many
- 2:15Speaker 2: unbelievable videos every second, all day long, every day, that
- 2:20Speaker 2: by the time you get to the Super Bowl, it's
- 2:21Speaker 2: nothing I've seen better than that on TikTok all all week.
- 2:24Speaker 2: So that's gonna be a problem. I'm not gonna deal
- 2:27Speaker 2: with that because those commercials are important. Bad Bunny, It
- 2:31Speaker 2: was pretty good. It was nothing offensive. Look great, move great.
- 2:36Speaker 2: Then I don't know what Ally's singing. It's certainly a snappy,
- 2:39Speaker 2: bouncy Now you see a guy like that can't really
- 2:43Speaker 2: be offensive. Nobody knows what the hell he's saying. What
- 2:45Speaker 2: the hell is this guy talking about? Nobody knows. Well,
- 2:48Speaker 2: if you speak Spanish, I guess you know what the
- 2:50Speaker 2: Helly's saying, but most of us don't. We don't know
- 2:51Speaker 2: what the hell he said, but I don't know. Look, hey, listen, musically,
- 2:56Speaker 2: it's it's not Carnegie Hall, it's the super Bowl. That's
- 3:00Speaker 2: good enough for the super Bowl. You know. The problem is,
- 3:03Speaker 2: we'll talk about this later. It used to be a
- 3:06Speaker 2: mainstream artist who everybody knew would perform at the super Bowl.
- 3:10Speaker 2: It'd be Billy Joel, it'd be the Rolling Stones, it'd
- 3:13Speaker 2: be the most mainstream. Everybody every age knew them, loved them.
- 3:18Speaker 2: You can't do that anymore. We'll talk about this a
- 3:20Speaker 2: little later. You can't come up with any artist that
- 3:22Speaker 2: everybody would like or everybody would know. It's also splintered nowadays.
- 3:30Speaker 2: Nancy Guthrie, the Kidnapping, The Deadline is today at five
- 3:34Speaker 2: o'clock for six million dollars to be delivered in bitcoin.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I don't know what's going to happen at five o'clock today.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I'll just give you all the latest on it over
- 3:44Speaker 2: the weekend. Yeah, And one reason you're not hearing much.
- 3:46Speaker 2: You noticed the first couple days you heard a lot
- 3:48Speaker 2: and that goofy local sheriff was having a press conference
- 3:52Speaker 2: every hour. Every two hours, there were these press conferences,
- 3:54Speaker 2: the statements that were revealing stuff. All of a sudden,
- 3:57Speaker 2: it went quiet the last four or five days. That's
- 4:00Speaker 2: because the FEDS took over the FBI, and the FEDS
- 4:03Speaker 2: took over and the FBI. Feds are very quiet. They
- 4:07Speaker 2: don't reveal things, they keep it. They keep a lid
- 4:10Speaker 2: on everything. So that's what's been going on for the
- 4:12Speaker 2: last few days. What we can piece together is they believe,
- 4:18Speaker 2: they have reason to believe the kidnappers were in the
- 4:20Speaker 2: house a long time, over a half hour. That's unusual. Now,
- 4:26Speaker 2: a woman in that age who's not mobile, who can't
- 4:28Speaker 2: walk without a cane, it's very hard to move her,
- 4:31Speaker 2: and that might have taken them while. But they believe
- 4:33Speaker 2: they were in the house doing something and that's why
- 4:36Speaker 2: they've been back in the house all weekend. They've been
- 4:39Speaker 2: seen coming in removing suitcases and bags full of stuff,
- 4:44Speaker 2: some sort of evidence. They've even gone through the septic
- 4:47Speaker 2: tank of the house. They believe that while the kidnappers
- 4:51Speaker 2: are there, they might have disposed of evidence, flushed it
- 4:53Speaker 2: down the toilet. That's what they were looking for. They've
- 4:56Speaker 2: been back in the house looking for DNA. They don't
- 4:58Speaker 2: believe that it's possible for kidnappers to be in the
- 5:02Speaker 2: house for over a half hour and not leave something,
- 5:05Speaker 2: if not fingerprints, DNA, something some kind of clues. They've
- 5:09Speaker 2: been up on the roof. It's believed there might have
- 5:12Speaker 2: been another camera up on the roof. But the other
- 5:14Speaker 2: reason they were on the roof is if you've seen
- 5:17Speaker 2: the video where it shows the roof, it's bright white.
- 5:19Speaker 2: It's really clean white the roof, and neighbors have pointed
- 5:24Speaker 2: out that when you live in that area, your roof
- 5:26Speaker 2: gets very dirty, it gets grimy, it gets gray from
- 5:29Speaker 2: the elements, and that because it was so white, it
- 5:34Speaker 2: was so new looking. They believe that she recently had
- 5:37Speaker 2: a roof redone and they're looking at that right now.
- 5:40Speaker 2: They believe for various reasons that the kidnappers were familiar
- 5:45Speaker 2: with this woman, familiar with the house, and that could
- 5:50Speaker 2: indicate friends, relatives, but more likely it could indicate workers,
- 5:53Speaker 2: people who were recently in the house doing work. If
- 5:56Speaker 2: there's any kind of servants there, a housekeeper, an aid
- 6:01Speaker 2: or something like that, obviously they've talked to them. But
- 6:05Speaker 2: if she recently had her roof redone, they'll be talking
- 6:07Speaker 2: to those workers. Anybody's been in the house, they're familiar
- 6:10Speaker 2: with the situation. So five o'clock today is the deadline.
- 6:14Speaker 2: They want six million dollars in bitcoin. You've seen the
- 6:17Speaker 2: video where Savannah Guthrie and the family say, we just
- 6:22Speaker 2: want our mother back, we want to celebrate with her.
- 6:25Speaker 2: We'll pay. And that's a very very very carefully scripted
- 6:31Speaker 2: statement that she made. The FBI has hostage negotiators, experts
- 6:35Speaker 2: at how to talk to kidnappers, and they've worded that
- 6:38Speaker 2: thing very carefully with keywords, trigger words, things that appeal
- 6:43Speaker 2: in the right way to kidnappers. So that's why it
- 6:45Speaker 2: was so carefully read. Other than that, we'll just see,
- 6:50Speaker 2: we'll see. It turns out, we find out now when
- 6:54Speaker 2: her mother went missing and she wanted to go to
- 6:57Speaker 2: the police. Savannah Guthrie first called Senator Mark Kelly, the
- 7:01Speaker 2: Arizona Senator spoke to him first and asked him to
- 7:06Speaker 2: call the police. Asked he's the senator from Arizona, asked
- 7:09Speaker 2: him to call the authorities and get them going. So
- 7:15Speaker 2: that's how it all started. FBI believes this is some
- 7:20Speaker 2: it's not. In other words, they've said it's not a
- 7:22Speaker 2: traditional kidnapping. Something's not traditional here. A they were in
- 7:26Speaker 2: the house way too long. Also, ransom notes go to
- 7:30Speaker 2: the family. In this case, they're sending the ransom notes
- 7:34Speaker 2: to the media. They're sending it to local TV stations.
- 7:38Speaker 2: That's very unusual. That's extremely unusual. They don't quite know
- 7:42Speaker 2: what that means. It might just mean they want it
- 7:45Speaker 2: to go very public for some reason. Otherwise, why wouldn't
- 7:48Speaker 2: you just send it to a family. Usually when a
- 7:50Speaker 2: kidnapping happens, nobody hears about it until it's over because
- 7:53Speaker 2: it's right to the family and they keep it quiet.
- 7:56Speaker 2: But the ransom notes are going to the media, extremely unusual,
- 8:02Speaker 2: so not traditional. Also, they were in the house a
- 8:05Speaker 2: very long time. The neighborhood where she lives, very very
- 8:09Speaker 2: close to the Mexican border. It's just a few miles away.
- 8:12Speaker 2: So they're also thinking that these kidnappers could have come
- 8:15Speaker 2: from Mexico or they could have gone to Mexico. In
- 8:18Speaker 2: one of the ransom demands, it said USD US dollars
- 8:24Speaker 2: instead of just six million dollars six million USD usd.
- 8:29Speaker 2: It's usually a phrase, a term used by foreigners. Americans
- 8:33Speaker 2: don't usually use it. That's another reason they suspect Mexico. So, hey,
- 8:40Speaker 2: Gallaine Maxwell testifies today. She's going to do it from
- 8:44Speaker 2: jail by zoom. It's in front of the Congressional Committee.
- 8:48Speaker 2: She's going to testify in the Epstein stuff. She has
- 8:53Speaker 2: already said she'll take the Fifth Amendment. Now her conviction,
- 8:56Speaker 2: she's gotten appeal coming up. She goes back into a
- 8:59Speaker 2: court to appeal her conviction, so that would justify the
- 9:03Speaker 2: Fifth Amendment. You don't want to do anything to screw
- 9:05Speaker 2: up her upcoming appeal, so you won't hear much of anything.
- 9:08Speaker 2: You'll get to look at her, but don't expect much
- 9:11Speaker 2: to come out of that. I've been reading through the
- 9:13Speaker 2: Epstein files all weekend. It's fascinating. You just google, just
- 9:20Speaker 2: google Epstein files. It'll take you to the Department of
- 9:22Speaker 2: Justice website where they have it's called they call it
- 9:25Speaker 2: the Epstein Library. It has a search bar, so in
- 9:30Speaker 2: there you type whatever name you want. It'll bring you
- 9:33Speaker 2: all the things that are in the Epstein files. Just
- 9:35Speaker 2: for the hell of it. I type my name. I
- 9:37Speaker 2: came up six times. Nothing bad, nothing bad, all harmless,
- 9:41Speaker 2: innocent stuff. I always kept my distance from Epstein, but
- 9:47Speaker 2: he was going to come to a luncheon where I
- 9:48Speaker 2: was the MC. So that's how one thing got in there.
- 9:52Speaker 2: He was friends with Jackie Martlin, Jackie the joke Man,
- 9:55Speaker 2: emailing back and forth of them, so I got mentioned
- 9:58Speaker 2: in one of those emails. Nothing is totally harmless, innocent stuff,
- 10:02Speaker 2: that kind of stuff. Who else is all through it?
- 10:05Speaker 2: Woody Allen is all through it now? Woody Allen continued.
- 10:10Speaker 2: You know, after Hollywood got done with him, he continued
- 10:12Speaker 2: to make movies. But to make those movies and there
- 10:15Speaker 2: were low budget movies. All the Woody Allen films, good films,
- 10:17Speaker 2: but low budget. He had to go find wealthy people
- 10:21Speaker 2: to finance the movies outside of Hollywood, so Epstein was
- 10:24Speaker 2: one of them. He got Epstein to finance the movies
- 10:27Speaker 2: and Epstein would pay for his movies. Now, in exchange
- 10:30Speaker 2: for that, Woody Ellan has to keep showing up at
- 10:32Speaker 2: Epstein's house whenever Epstein tells him, please come to my
- 10:35Speaker 2: dinner party. Please come to this party. I'm having lunch
- 10:38Speaker 2: with these people. Please come. So whenever Epstein had a
- 10:41Speaker 2: bunch of CEOs or whoever he was trying to impress,
- 10:44Speaker 2: he'd have Woody Allen come and sit with them at dinner.
- 10:47Speaker 2: That was the price for the financing his films. Dick
- 10:50Speaker 2: Cavitt shows up in the Epstein files. I guess Woody
- 10:55Speaker 2: Allen's very close to Dick cat. Woody Allen must have
- 10:57Speaker 2: dragged him into this. And Cabot not as much as
- 11:01Speaker 2: what he owaned, but he wanted some financing. He was
- 11:04Speaker 2: looking to do a PBS special. You know when you
- 11:07Speaker 2: see those big PBS specials, somebody has to pay for them.
- 11:11Speaker 2: PBS very rarely pays for him. Somebody has to finance him.
- 11:15Speaker 2: So there was going to be an American Master's Profile
- 11:18Speaker 2: Attic Cabot. But Cabot had to get the financing, so
- 11:22Speaker 2: Epstein volunteered to pay it. It was four hundred and
- 11:25Speaker 2: eighty thousand dollars. Now in exchange for that, you'll see
- 11:28Speaker 2: in the emails. He wants Cabot to show up at
- 11:30Speaker 2: this lunch with a bunch of his friends. He wants
- 11:33Speaker 2: Cabot to come to this party he's having. He wants
- 11:35Speaker 2: Cabot to come to this dinner he's having. So that's
- 11:38Speaker 2: the price you pay. The most embarrassing one of these
- 11:41Speaker 2: college presidents. Epstein would make big donations to the colleges,
- 11:47Speaker 2: but some of the I don't want to mention names
- 11:49Speaker 2: because some of them I know. But these college presidents,
- 11:51Speaker 2: they would be at his house every week and constantly
- 11:55Speaker 2: calling him and coming to his house every which way.
- 12:00Speaker 2: We got some Steve Tish is in there. It doesn't
- 12:02Speaker 2: look so good, Steve Tish. They're always talking about women.
- 12:04Speaker 2: And there's one email exchange he's trying to there's some
- 12:08Speaker 2: young woman, not underage, but a younger woman, let's say,
- 12:12Speaker 2: in her twenties. Tish is trying to invite her to
- 12:16Speaker 2: Boston for the weekend. And she said, you know, I'm
- 12:18Speaker 2: in school, I go to college. I can't come to
- 12:22Speaker 2: But I don't think it's not a problem for Steve Tish.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Remember Bob Kraft with the with that little strip mall,
- 12:31Speaker 2: massage parlor whatever.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I mean.
- 12:33Speaker 2: If that didn't get them in trouble with the NFL,
- 12:35Speaker 2: the Steve Tish thing won't. Otherwise it's pretty harmless. Hey,
- 12:39Speaker 2: we have a new cardinal began this weekend. His first
- 12:44Speaker 2: service was this Sunday Friday. It was the big luncheon,
- 12:47Speaker 2: you know, to welcome the new cardinal. I noticed it
- 12:52Speaker 2: was not like the other cardinals. It was not like
- 12:54Speaker 2: Doluna O'Connor. I noticed the governor didn't come, the mayor
- 12:58Speaker 2: didn't come. A lot of people didn't come for the
- 13:01Speaker 2: new cardinal, and a lot of people not crazy about
- 13:03Speaker 2: this new cardinal. He's sort of a left wing, woke cardinal.
- 13:09Speaker 2: He doesn't sound great, you know, Dolan, besides being the
- 13:11Speaker 2: most magnificent, wonderful guy you could ever know, and a
- 13:15Speaker 2: great leader, very inspirational this guy and Dolan incredible speaker,
- 13:21Speaker 2: makes amazing speeches. This guy doesn't sound so great. He's
- 13:25Speaker 2: not the great speaker here here he is.
- 13:27Speaker 4: Some folks like to get away, take a holiday from
- 13:31Speaker 4: the neighborhood. I'm in a New York state of mind,
- 13:37Speaker 4: concrete jungles where dreams are made of. There's nothing you
- 13:41Speaker 4: can't do now you're in New York.
- 13:45Speaker 2: Uh, all right again, not the most impressive speaker in
- 13:49Speaker 2: the world. But he's the new Cardinal. Ronald Hicks is
- 13:51Speaker 2: his name. Maybe he'll get better, Maybe he'll get better.
- 13:56Speaker 2: But you know, we keep saying that about mom Donnie,
- 13:58Speaker 2: but it's I don't know. We'll get to Donnie and
- 14:00Speaker 2: why the snow didn't get picked up so fast? And
- 14:04Speaker 2: got a whole lot more to get to. We'll get
- 14:06Speaker 2: to voter ID, we'll get to the Washington Post. Big
- 14:10Speaker 2: mess over there, everybody, you're getting laid off. The CEO
- 14:15Speaker 2: quit resigned. He didn't resign, he got fired. I'll tell
- 14:20Speaker 2: you why later. But he got fired. You know, he pretended.
- 14:23Speaker 2: They allowed him to pretend to quit, and he put
- 14:26Speaker 2: out one of those statements that I would like to
- 14:28Speaker 2: spend more time with this. I want to spend more
- 14:30Speaker 2: time with my family. Have you seen his family? Nobody
- 14:33Speaker 2: wants to spend more time with them. They always give
- 14:36Speaker 2: you that same crazy excuse. But oh wait, we got
- 14:40Speaker 2: a lot to get to, so we'll get back. When
- 14:41Speaker 2: we'll get to the super Bowl, we'll go over Bad
- 14:43Speaker 2: Bunny and more. In a few minutes, we'll take some calls.
- 14:46Speaker 2: Next eight hundred three to two one zero seven ten
- 14:50Speaker 2: is the number eight hundred three two one zero seven ten.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Get instant access to Mark by setting a freeset in
- 14:58Speaker 2: the iHeartRadio app Live show and this podcast. Now back
- 15:03Speaker 2: to the marksmone Show on w o R. Hey, let's
- 15:09Speaker 2: take some calls. Let's go to Rich and Myrtle Beach. Rich,
- 15:12Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 15:14Speaker 5: Having surgery tomorrow?
- 15:15Speaker 1: Oh?
- 15:16Speaker 5: Really, we got action for a few days. I'm having
- 15:18Speaker 5: I tore the rotator cuff in my left hip, so.
- 15:22Speaker 2: There's a rotator cuff in there in your hip.
- 15:26Speaker 5: Yeah, you have rotator cuff and both hips and both shoulders. Yeah,
- 15:30Speaker 5: well pretty much what happens. I've pulled the gluten muscle
- 15:32Speaker 5: off the bone, so they got to reattach it.
- 15:34Speaker 2: That's a little too much information, but I think you'll
- 15:36Speaker 2: be fine. I think you're gonna do fine.
- 15:38Speaker 1: Yeah. Thanks.
- 15:39Speaker 2: All you got to do is you'll wake up. You'll
- 15:42Speaker 2: be fine.
- 15:42Speaker 5: That's it. Yeah, take some painkillers and for a couple
- 15:45Speaker 5: of days and it'll be a little better. You know.
- 15:46Speaker 5: So some of my liberal friends are up in arms
- 15:49Speaker 5: about the Voter Registration Act and you have to show ID.
- 15:53Speaker 5: And I said, you got to show an ID to
- 15:55Speaker 5: get into the CNN building. You gotta show an ID
- 15:57Speaker 5: to buy booze, buy cigarettes by Latto, by this, by that,
- 16:00Speaker 5: I had to show my driver's license to pick up
- 16:02Speaker 5: some fish supplies I pre ordered at the local pet store.
- 16:06Speaker 5: I mean, and these people just up and arms. It's
- 16:08Speaker 5: all about as much cheating as they could possibly get
- 16:10Speaker 5: away with.
- 16:10Speaker 2: M Yeah, definitely. Well anyway, good luck tomorrow. You'll be fine.
- 16:14Speaker 2: But good luck with the surgery tomorrow. Let's go to
- 16:17Speaker 2: Tom in Point Pleasant, Tom. How you doing.
- 16:20Speaker 6: Yeah, it's good morning, Mark, Mark. I let ask you
- 16:22Speaker 6: a quick question about the Guthrie kidnapping. Last week, they
- 16:27Speaker 6: said that this tomaso'siani was a prime suspect, and since
- 16:30Speaker 6: then there has been no word about him, and he's
- 16:32Speaker 6: not in any of the videos supporting his wife and family.
- 16:36Speaker 2: Are you talking about the brother in law? Yes, yeah,
- 16:39Speaker 2: I don't know. Some people got the idea. He didn't
- 16:41Speaker 2: like the way the brother in law looked in the video.
- 16:43Speaker 2: They didn't like he didn't come out he was I
- 16:45Speaker 2: don't know. They were suspicious of the brother in law
- 16:49Speaker 2: that he was somehow involved. I don't know. I mean,
- 16:52Speaker 2: you got to figure. The family knows him as well
- 16:54Speaker 2: as anybody, and they they are including him in the video.
- 16:57Speaker 2: So I don't know, it's just it's a rumor going
- 16:59Speaker 2: around about the brother in law. Let's go to Mike
- 17:01Speaker 2: and Florida. Mike, how you doing.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Morning, Mark, Yes, Mike, you'll be happy to know.
- 17:07Speaker 7: I'm on my way to go see Marty Supreme.
- 17:09Speaker 2: Oh, you'll love that film. It's a great movie. Because
- 17:12Speaker 2: you live in Florida, nothing else to do during the
- 17:14Speaker 2: day except go to the movies and go to launch.
- 17:16Speaker 7: Yeah, and I'm taken advantage of one of my DGA perks,
- 17:19Speaker 7: so I get a screening.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Oh, Director's Guild of America. You get a discount. That's
- 17:24Speaker 2: the other thing in Florida. Everybody wants a discount on everything.
- 17:27Speaker 5: Well, that brings me to my point.
- 17:30Speaker 7: One of the things I'm gleaning gleaning from these Epstein
- 17:32Speaker 7: files is none of these rich people like to reach
- 17:34Speaker 7: into their own pockets. You mean to tell me that
- 17:37Speaker 7: Big Cavic doesn't have a half a million dollars in
- 17:39Speaker 7: the bank that he could finance his own, you know.
- 17:42Speaker 5: His own project with well And there's a.
- 17:45Speaker 7: Lot of stories like this.
- 17:47Speaker 2: There there no well it's kind of a rule and
- 17:49Speaker 2: show business. You don't finance your own projects. It's no.
- 17:54Speaker 2: I like, if you're doing a Broadway show, if it's Andrew,
- 17:56Speaker 2: Lloyd Weber, anybody, they go out and they raise the money,
- 17:59Speaker 2: and the one or two times I've seen the guy
- 18:02Speaker 2: put up his own money, it's like a jinx and
- 18:05Speaker 2: the whole thing is a disaster and you lose your money.
- 18:08Speaker 7: So it just seems amazing because there's a lot of
- 18:10Speaker 7: these stories seem to be Oh, they went visited him
- 18:12Speaker 7: because they needed money, so so went to the you
- 18:15Speaker 7: know the house, wait allan, you know.
- 18:18Speaker 2: No, it's just tradition, even if you're Scorsese, even if
- 18:21Speaker 2: you're whoever you are, Wolfe of Wall Street. They couldn't
- 18:24Speaker 2: get Hollywood money. So they went out and they found
- 18:26Speaker 2: private financing. But you never financial ow movie. It always
- 18:29Speaker 2: it's like a curse against that. It always leads a disaster.
- 18:34Speaker 2: Maybe two or three times I've seen somebody who thought
- 18:37Speaker 2: this Broadway show, this movie, it's such a sure thing,
- 18:40Speaker 2: it can't miss. I'll put up my own money, and
- 18:43Speaker 2: then all of a sudden it bombs and you just
- 18:46Speaker 2: don't ever do it. Let's go to Vincent and Brooklyn Vincent.
- 18:50Speaker 2: How you doing.
- 18:51Speaker 3: Good morning, Mark, I'm okay, good luck rich tomorrow which
- 18:54Speaker 3: is surgery. Mark. When you close your show Friday, you
- 18:57Speaker 3: talked about a great man in the Middle military under
- 19:01Speaker 3: the tutelage of Donald Trump catching capturing the SOB who
- 19:05Speaker 3: did the attack on Benghazi. I saw the hit live
- 19:09Speaker 3: that night on Italian TV, which was six hours ahead,
- 19:15Speaker 3: and they had a journalist that I would if you wanted,
- 19:20Speaker 3: I would when we were off Mike, I'll give you
- 19:23Speaker 3: the name of the journalist and everything who was embedded,
- 19:27Speaker 3: and they blindfolded him, brought him to the access roads
- 19:32Speaker 3: to the ambassador's compound. They showed on film the terrorists
- 19:40Speaker 3: put it and raise a wire across the roads. Bob
- 19:43Speaker 3: wires the roads, and I saw the initial beginning of
- 19:48Speaker 3: the attack. I saw it then when he Chris Stevens
- 19:52Speaker 3: must have had a surrogate. He must had a corrupt
- 19:55Speaker 3: individual embedded with him, because when they got added the
- 19:59Speaker 3: first the ambassador's residents, they went to a safe house,
- 20:03Speaker 3: and as soon as they got to the safe house,
- 20:06Speaker 3: the terrorists were already there. I saw Tyrone Woods before
- 20:11Speaker 3: he got whacked on the roof. They called into sackcom
- 20:16Speaker 3: for support. Obama never mentioned that because that would have
- 20:20Speaker 3: brought down his second election, and the Obama administration told
- 20:24Speaker 3: him that the jets the support were too far away
- 20:28Speaker 3: in Sicily and that was a bunch of crappic.
- 20:31Speaker 2: There's a little more to it, but that's what you
- 20:33Speaker 2: watched on TV last night.
- 20:36Speaker 3: No, because what happened was was I was trying to
- 20:39Speaker 3: get to the video to Sean Hannity, and there must
- 20:45Speaker 3: have been a liberal news director on the Italian station
- 20:49Speaker 3: when Obama came out with that BS story about the cartoon,
- 20:54Speaker 3: you couldn't find a video. They scrubbed.
- 20:58Speaker 2: Vincent.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Yes, Mark, that guy was shut up from the very beginning.
- 21:03Speaker 2: Good stuff, Vincent, thanks for calling. Yeah, I told was
- 21:07Speaker 2: a long story about ben Ghazi. And you know the
- 21:09Speaker 2: problem is Obama. When they were working on what to do,
- 21:12Speaker 2: it was like twenty guys in the situation room and
- 21:14Speaker 2: Obama left the room. It was about six seven o'clock
- 21:17Speaker 2: at night. He decided that was the end of the
- 21:18Speaker 2: workday and he went up to the residence. He didn't
- 21:21Speaker 2: stay there until something happened, and he said to all
- 21:25Speaker 2: twenty guys, do whatever you need to do for them
- 21:29Speaker 2: and left. It doesn't work that way. You got to
- 21:31Speaker 2: put one guy in charge because when it's twenty people,
- 21:34Speaker 2: nobody wants to make the decision to send any troops in.
- 21:38Speaker 2: So he should have put some, he should have stayed.
- 21:40Speaker 2: But also just put one person in charge and tell
- 21:43Speaker 2: him it's your decision. But anyway, so they've captured the mastermind.
- 21:48Speaker 2: He's in custody, in federal custody in Washington. Hey, when
- 21:52Speaker 2: we come back, Roger Friedman, the Great Entertainment Reporter. All right,
- 21:54Speaker 2: we'll go over the super Bowl last night, bad Bunny,
- 21:57Speaker 2: the commercials, everything. We'll get to all of that coming
- 22:00Speaker 2: up next, and we'll get to Epstein with him and
- 22:02Speaker 2: more coming up on seven to ten WR.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Mister New York.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Here's more, Mark Simone on seven ten WR. Well, Roger Friedman,
- 22:13Speaker 2: the Great Entertainment Reporter. His website showbiz for one one
- 22:17Speaker 2: dot com. You should check it every day. There's always
- 22:19Speaker 2: new stuff up there. Showbizfoe one dot com. Roger Friedman,
- 22:24Speaker 2: how you doing.
- 22:25Speaker 1: I'm great, Good morning. How are you? Mark?
- 22:27Speaker 2: I'm good? Little stuffed over eating that Super Bowl stuff.
- 22:31Speaker 2: That's party, I know, which you think the game was
- 22:34Speaker 2: pretty boring, but what do you think of the rest
- 22:35Speaker 2: of it?
- 22:36Speaker 8: I thought the Bad Bunny was fabulous. I thought the
- 22:40Speaker 8: show was beautifully produced. I liked all the acts before that.
- 22:45Speaker 8: I thought Green Day was terrific and Brandy Carlisle and
- 22:49Speaker 8: I loved Coco Jones.
- 22:51Speaker 2: You know it was great. It's the toughest thing to
- 22:54Speaker 2: do national anthem. You know it was great. Was Charlie Pooth,
- 22:56Speaker 2: He was really good.
- 22:57Speaker 1: Charliepooth was excellent. He was excellent. But and I love
- 23:00Speaker 1: to the he set up all that gospel choir.
- 23:03Speaker 2: But what the hell was he wearing that beat up
- 23:06Speaker 2: leather jacket. He looked like a munks in the cab
- 23:08Speaker 2: driver on all in the family. What was he wearing?
- 23:11Speaker 2: That's the super Bowl? Put a nice jacket on.
- 23:19Speaker 8: Yeah, I don't know. Somebody should have addressed him, but
- 23:22Speaker 8: he did. But musically it was very good. And he
- 23:24Speaker 8: said it was a tribute to Whitney Houston, who did
- 23:26Speaker 8: the best one of all. So h so that was
- 23:29Speaker 8: very nice. And then Bad Bunny with Lady Gaga was fabulous.
- 23:34Speaker 8: And Ricky Martin was a really nice nod. This Bad
- 23:38Speaker 8: Bunny is such a respecting, respectful guy and he knows
- 23:42Speaker 8: that Ricky Martin is the biggest star in Puerto Rico.
- 23:45Speaker 8: So he had him on and H and his whole
- 23:49Speaker 8: it was g It was like g rated, It was
- 23:51Speaker 8: so h wholesome.
- 23:54Speaker 2: It was in Spanish. Who knows what he was saying.
- 23:56Speaker 2: But you know what the problem, Well we can tell it.
- 23:59Speaker 1: I know everyone complaining that they were in subtitles.
- 24:01Speaker 2: Now here's the problem with bad Bunny in today's world.
- 24:04Speaker 2: This guy's the biggest star in the world, but half
- 24:06Speaker 2: the audience doesn't know who the hell he is. And
- 24:10Speaker 2: you could have.
- 24:10Speaker 8: I don't know, Mark, he sold like ten million albums
- 24:13Speaker 8: last year.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I know, but if you go to people over
- 24:15Speaker 2: forty five, they don't know who he is. Fifty they
- 24:17Speaker 2: don't know who he is. You know, in the good old.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Days forty six, well, I know who he is.
- 24:22Speaker 2: No, But in the good old days you have the
- 24:23Speaker 2: Rolling Stones. Everybody loved them, Billy Joel, everybody. There's no
- 24:26Speaker 2: such thing as a mainstream artist anymore. That every demo
- 24:29Speaker 2: everybody knows.
- 24:32Speaker 8: No, that's hard to do. That, that's definitely hard to do.
- 24:36Speaker 8: And you can't get those Listen, these people bad Bunnies
- 24:39Speaker 8: in his I don't know thirties. You can't get these
- 24:44Speaker 8: eighty year old people to come out and perform at
- 24:46Speaker 8: the halftime. Yeah, but there's no use to start developing
- 24:49Speaker 8: younger acts, you know.
- 24:51Speaker 2: Like take where I'm sitting right now here at iHeart.
- 24:53Speaker 2: We got Z one hundred over there, we got QWO
- 24:57Speaker 2: one O four down there the place, classic rock, we
- 24:59Speaker 2: got the Power one oh five. There's no artist that
- 25:02Speaker 2: could be played on every station. Each one has their
- 25:04Speaker 2: own music. They're all separate musicow So.
- 25:06Speaker 8: We were growing up when we were growing up in
- 25:09Speaker 8: the radio, we would listen to WABC, yeah, and they'd
- 25:12Speaker 8: play a country song, an R and B song, a
- 25:15Speaker 8: rock song, a pop song. It was all like but
- 25:18Speaker 8: you know, as you're right, it's splintered into all these
- 25:21Speaker 8: different genres. And it's sort of sad in a way
- 25:26Speaker 8: because we learned a lot about other music when we
- 25:29Speaker 8: used to listen to the radio, and now they can't
- 25:31Speaker 8: do that.
- 25:32Speaker 2: But if you go back to like the nineteen sixty
- 25:34Speaker 2: Super Bowls halftime was like Andy Williams, can you imagine?
- 25:38Speaker 2: You can't even picture of that.
- 25:41Speaker 8: But now they had Al Hurt in nineteen sixty seven,
- 25:45Speaker 8: they had Al Hurt play the horn he was a trumpet.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Player for New Orleans. He had a couple of hit singles.
- 25:50Speaker 1: So yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 25:54Speaker 2: Here's the other problem. The commercials, which were phenomenal, had
- 25:58Speaker 2: very little impact. I think is in today's world there's
- 26:01Speaker 2: a million videos AI videos on TikTok, Instagram, you get
- 26:06Speaker 2: thousands of the day. So after all of that, the
- 26:08Speaker 2: commercials don't impression anymore.
- 26:11Speaker 8: The commercials have been diluted, there's no question about it.
- 26:15Speaker 8: And I really could not stand the one with Ben
- 26:17Speaker 8: Affleck sending up Goodwill Hunting, and it's really interesting because
- 26:22Speaker 8: he had all these like weird TV stars in it,
- 26:25Speaker 8: but he didn't have Mac Damon, who was in Goodwill
- 26:28Speaker 8: Hunting with him and they won the Oscar together.
- 26:31Speaker 1: For writing the screenplay.
- 26:32Speaker 8: I think Mac Damon said I'll sit this one out
- 26:35Speaker 8: because that was a big mistake and it made Goodwill
- 26:39Speaker 8: Hunting is a great movie, and they made it seem silly,
- 26:42Speaker 8: you know, And it's enough with Ben Affleck and Duck
- 26:46Speaker 8: and donuts.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Really enough.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Hey, Roger Friedman, have you been reading through the Epstein files.
- 26:55Speaker 8: I have been reading a lot of the Epstein files.
- 27:00Speaker 2: Through there.
- 27:01Speaker 8: Well, there's nothing about Woody Allen bad the thing is
- 27:04Speaker 8: that nothing bad, but you know that.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Look Jack lenn who's.
- 27:09Speaker 8: The French cultural minister, he's in it too. What Jeffrey
- 27:15Speaker 8: Epstein did, which was a terrible thing, as it turns out,
- 27:19Speaker 8: is that he was giving all these people money and
- 27:21Speaker 8: attention and they were taking it and they didn't know
- 27:25Speaker 8: what was going on. They didn't go to the island,
- 27:27Speaker 8: they didn't do any of that stuff. They didn't know
- 27:28Speaker 8: about the girls. But but Jeffrey Epstein was offering them
- 27:35Speaker 8: a chance. As we would say, some of your listeners
- 27:38Speaker 8: listeners will know this word snoring. A lot of these
- 27:42Speaker 8: people were schnoring off of Jeffrey Epstein. He was offering
- 27:47Speaker 8: them plane rides and dinners and making phone call influential
- 27:51Speaker 8: phone calls for them, and everybody was saying yes because
- 27:55Speaker 8: they thought, why not, he's not asking for anything in return. Well,
- 27:58Speaker 8: so all he really wanted was he was sort of
- 28:01Speaker 8: he was. What he was doing was paying everyone to
- 28:03Speaker 8: be his influential friends.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean the only he had doing he wanted
- 28:07Speaker 2: if you're Woody Allen, you had he would have a
- 28:09Speaker 2: dinner party with a bunch of CEOs. You had to
- 28:11Speaker 2: come to his dinner and sit there and impress everybody
- 28:13Speaker 2: that you were there. Uh, you had to come to
- 28:15Speaker 2: a few lunches that kind of stuff.
- 28:17Speaker 8: Yo, I know what he pretty well, and I know, listen,
- 28:20Speaker 8: what do you and Sinny they have no other fault
- 28:24Speaker 8: except that, like everybody in Hollywood, they want a free dinner.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:28Speaker 1: Well, actually Putting in Hollywood wants a free dinner.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Apparently he's looking for financing for his movies. But you know,
- 28:32Speaker 2: in every Broadway show, the way they raised money, Yeah,
- 28:36Speaker 2: the way they raised money by getting these New Jersey
- 28:38Speaker 2: housewives with money to put in five hundred thousand said,
- 28:40Speaker 2: oh my god. And they have to pretend that they're
- 28:42Speaker 2: the producers and listen to these people.
- 28:47Speaker 8: That's I recently went through something like that, or I've
- 28:49Speaker 8: listened to people doing that.
- 28:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 1: So, but you know, but there's all these people.
- 28:55Speaker 8: Uh, there are a lot of people in there who
- 28:57Speaker 8: I think are actually kind of victims.
- 29:00Speaker 1: Not the women.
- 29:01Speaker 8: I mean the women thing is serious with the women
- 29:04Speaker 8: who were trafficked, but these other people were sort of
- 29:06Speaker 8: victimized too because they didn't understand what Jeffrey Epstein was
- 29:10Speaker 8: doing to them.
- 29:11Speaker 1: He was really evil.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Yeah, Hey, I made the Epstein files.
- 29:16Speaker 1: Did your congratulations.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Nothing bad, nothing bad, just harmless nothing bad. No?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Now was the other Was he just a fan? Did
- 29:24Speaker 1: he listen to the Shadow?
- 29:26Speaker 3: No?
- 29:26Speaker 2: But apparently there was an email between him and Jackie
- 29:28Speaker 2: Martley talking about listening to this show. And then there
- 29:31Speaker 2: was another one where I was going to come to
- 29:32Speaker 2: a lunch where I was the MC. But that's all, huh.
- 29:37Speaker 1: All he wanted to do is go to parties. Jeffrey Epstein.
- 29:39Speaker 8: Yeah, he wanted to go to parties day and night,
- 29:42Speaker 8: and he didn't care.
- 29:43Speaker 1: He was using everyone in town.
- 29:45Speaker 8: Howard Rubinstein, who was like a famous publicist, you know,
- 29:48Speaker 8: public relations guy, was his publicist. So he was keeping
- 29:52Speaker 8: his name of The New York Post but getting him
- 29:54Speaker 8: into things that he wanted to go to.
- 29:57Speaker 2: Hey, we only got a minute left. Our talk shows dying.
- 30:00Speaker 2: They've just canceled a whole bunch of the top daytime
- 30:02Speaker 2: talk shows. Sherry Shepard, Kelly Clarkson, is that talk show?
- 30:06Speaker 1: Is it? We're coming to the end of this. We've
- 30:09Speaker 1: had it. We've been seeing them for forty years or
- 30:12Speaker 1: fifty years.
- 30:13Speaker 8: And what's happened is with streaming and all the different things,
- 30:17Speaker 8: and you know, they're expensive to produce, and now we're
- 30:21Speaker 8: down to really just Jennifer Hudson has her show, Tameron
- 30:26Speaker 8: Hall has a show, and Drew Barrymore. We used to have,
- 30:29Speaker 8: you know, Phil Donahue and Oprah and Sally Jesse, Raphael.
- 30:33Speaker 1: We had tons and tons of these.
- 30:35Speaker 8: Shows, but they're expensive to produce, and the stations are
- 30:39Speaker 8: finding that it's cheaper just to put on the news
- 30:41Speaker 8: all day, just like See It n They just put
- 30:44Speaker 8: on the news and they have, you know, a correspondence
- 30:48Speaker 8: running around in Queen's telling you what's going on, and
- 30:51Speaker 8: it doesn't cost anything. It's not the same cost as
- 30:53Speaker 8: flying in movie stars and that kind of thing.
- 30:56Speaker 1: So we are seeing sort of the decline of it.
- 30:59Speaker 2: Definitely long way from Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas, but
- 31:02Speaker 2: uh oh those days there you go. Well, great stuff.
