Transcript
- 0:00Dubai is making another bold move to secure its
- 0:03place as a global leader in sustainability with
- 0:06a project of, well, truly massive proportions.
- 0:10That's right. The Dubai Electricity and Water
- 0:12Authority, or DIWA, has invited proposals for
- 0:15the seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid
- 0:18al -Maktoum solar park. And this isn't just another
- 0:22solar farm. It's a statement. So what makes this
- 0:25phase so significant? Let's, you know. Break
- 0:29down the numbers. OK, so the project will add
- 0:31a staggering 2000 megawatts of solar power. But
- 0:35the real game changer is the integrated battery,
- 0:38a 1400 megawatt system with a six hour capacity.
- 0:43Wow. Yeah. That provides 8400 megawatt hours
- 0:47of storage, making it one of the largest solar
- 0:50plus storage projects in the world. That storage
- 0:52capability is the key. It's the key to providing.
- 0:56Clean, reliable power around the clock. Yes.
- 0:59And it directly supports Dubai's whole vision
- 1:03for a green future. It really does. Diwa's MD
- 1:06and CEO, His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al -Tair,
- 1:09framed it perfectly. He said, Right. He continued,
- 1:25The seventh phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid
- 1:27al -Maktoum solar park is a key strategic step
- 1:30in our ongoing efforts to diversify Dubai's energy
- 1:33mix and increase the share of renewable and clean
- 1:36energy. And then he says it consolidates Dubai's
- 1:41leadership in adopting the latest sustainable
- 1:43energy production and storage technologies and
- 1:46supports the net zero by 2050 target. A powerful
- 1:51statement that really underscores the strategic
- 1:54importance. Yeah. And they're not just, you know,
- 1:57meeting their goals. They're actively raising
- 1:59them. Exactly. Altair also added, we have raised
- 2:03the renewable energy target in Dubai's energy
- 2:06mix to 36 % by 2030 compared to the originally
- 2:11planned 25%. Wow. And get this, with the completion
- 2:16of the seventh phase, the solar park's total
- 2:19production capacity will reach 8 ,060 megawatt
- 2:23by 2030, reducing CO2 emissions by more than
- 2:268 .5 million tons annually. An incredible reduction
- 2:31in emissions. Yeah. And with 49 expressions of
- 2:35interest already, it's clear the global energy
- 2:38sector is taking notice. Oh, for sure. It's a
- 2:41powerful blueprint for accelerating the energy
- 2:43transition on a city -wide scale. So here's a
- 2:47question we'd like you to think about. As megaprojects
- 2:50like this become reality, what's stopping other
- 2:54major cities from matching this level of ambition?
