Transcript
- 0:00SPEAKER_00: Hello,
- 0:02SPEAKER_00: this is the first technically second time self friendship podcast is on camera I'm
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: very excited because the first time that I tried this it just was not going well so
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: I kept it,
- 0:17SPEAKER_00: though,
- 0:18SPEAKER_00: in the recording of that episode,
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: which was really fun to do because you guys got to experience me just doing
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: self-friendship things,
- 0:25SPEAKER_00: which is trying something new,
- 0:27SPEAKER_00: giving it my best effort,
- 0:28SPEAKER_00: and also being willing to call it quits occasionally and try again later.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: And at that time, the timing when I called it quits on the episode was 3-3-3 in the episode.
- 0:40SPEAKER_00: So alignment will take it.
- 0:42SPEAKER_00: Thank you.
- 0:43SPEAKER_00: So I pulled out, but I kept it in the episode so you guys can witness.
- 0:47SPEAKER_00: Me being me.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: I'm Busy Planet.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: This is Self-Friendship Podcast, where playfulness meets societal reflection.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Imagine this.
- 0:58SPEAKER_00: You hopped on the band rocket, and now you're on planet butter.
- 1:01SPEAKER_00: A world made of delicious,
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: sparkly peanut butter volcanoes and an adorable disco ball of self-reflection is
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: whirling around in a transforming convertible.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: This is my copy of a book with a lesson.
- 1:14SPEAKER_00: I didn't plan to show that, but I had it here for moral support.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: And here we are.
- 1:19SPEAKER_00: Thanks for joining me in my 37th episode where I will be sharing my answer to last
- 1:24SPEAKER_00: week's question of the week.
- 1:25SPEAKER_00: A quote I loved.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: How to let your body know you're a safe space,
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: the intersection of spirituality,
- 1:32SPEAKER_00: psychology,
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: and physical health.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: A perspective dance with self-fulfilling prophecies,
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: the border between self-preservation and self-abandonment.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: Perspective dance with pick your battles,
- 1:43SPEAKER_00: a note on work,
- 1:45SPEAKER_00: handwriting and limiting beliefs,
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: what you want to want to hear.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: A perspective dance with put your best foot forward, hesitation kills.
- 1:55SPEAKER_00: It's not counterintuitive, it's counter logic.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: Losing people is a two-way street.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: And a perspective dance with running out of breath.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: And of course,
- 2:08SPEAKER_00: a brand new question for all of us to self-reflect and self-connect and email me,
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: if you desire,
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: selffriendshippodcast at gmail.com.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: My answer to last week's question of the week, which was,
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: What is something that has happened for you that you can recognize and appreciate
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: happened exactly on time and when you were ready?
- 2:31SPEAKER_00: Listen to last week's episode 36 if you want to hear more on the ready bit.
- 2:37SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: I'm going to answer this one featuring my party of one for the week as a loving reminder.
- 2:42SPEAKER_00: Party of one means having fun with oneself,
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: for oneself,
- 2:48SPEAKER_00: as oneself,
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: anywhere,
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: everywhere,
- 2:51SPEAKER_00: no matter who's there.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: We become our party of one by consistently practicing self-friendship.
- 2:57SPEAKER_00: Each episode,
- 2:58SPEAKER_00: I share little tidbits from my life that happen thanks to me showing up in the
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: world as my party of one.
- 3:06SPEAKER_00: I moved into a new villa today,
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: that's what I'm recording,
- 3:10SPEAKER_00: on the exact street that I wanted with all of my non-negotiables in the span of 24 hours.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: Though logic like this happens for me a lot, it never ceases to amaze me, and it shouldn't.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: If it ceased to amaze me,
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: I would be taking it for granted,
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: and I don't take anything for granted,
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: only for gratitude.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: For the last couple of months,
- 3:36SPEAKER_00: I've been bopping around quite a bit in a rice field for one month in a tiny cabin.
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: Tokyo, changing apartments every couple of days for two weeks, which is very out of character for me.
- 3:45SPEAKER_00: I got distracted.
- 3:54SPEAKER_00: And then for the last month,
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: I was in another villa that was a shared house,
- 3:57SPEAKER_00: so different people would kind of come and go regularly.
- 4:00SPEAKER_00: I didn't love that part, but the home came to me seamlessly and satisfied everything else.
- 4:04SPEAKER_00: I also figured it's a nice way to meet people in a new area,
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: and I had the intention of getting my own place when I meant to,
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: or ready,
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: quote unquote,
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: as per the question of the week.
- 4:15SPEAKER_00: Anyway, in front of that villa is a beautiful rice field.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: My intuition, nope, beep, beep, beep, rewind.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: i used to practice my breath work there every single morning in front of the rice
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: field at the other villa like i was sharing okay the other day i walked outside to
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: a bulldozer on my beloved rice field and my intuition immediately told me we're
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: shifting i made the mental note started to mentally prepare and then
- 4:47SPEAKER_00: sure enough the next couple of days behind and next to my villa not even the rice
- 4:52SPEAKER_00: field other construction started my mental note escalated to action mind you
- 4:58SPEAKER_00: construction is super common here in bali these days but i've been my party of
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: oneself and have not had any construction nearby in any of the places that i've
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: lived for over six months now
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: And I'm way too sensitive to handle that.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: So I had a mental breakdown because I was so overstimulated the other day.
- 5:17SPEAKER_00: It was terrible.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Thankfully,
- 5:19SPEAKER_00: because I practice self-friendship,
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I nurtured myself to peace through a little cry or a big cry.
- 5:24SPEAKER_00: It was pretty rough.
- 5:26SPEAKER_00: And a lot of humming.
- 5:28SPEAKER_00: Fun tip.
- 5:29SPEAKER_00: If you feel overstimulated or your body is getting tense,
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: you can literally just hum yourself through it and feel better instantly.
- 5:35SPEAKER_00: Like this.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: In, hum.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: You see?
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: It works.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: I'm already more relaxed.
- 5:52SPEAKER_00: I'm a little bit like, where was I?
- 5:58SPEAKER_00: All right, but really, you can literally just hum yourself through it and feel better instantly.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Then self-reflect and self-connect later about what happened,
- 6:08SPEAKER_00: if necessary,
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: once you have the mental clarity.
- 6:11SPEAKER_00: Side note, another side, side, side note.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: For example,
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: when I ride these scooters here,
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: I'm always a passenger,
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: which I've talked about in other episodes.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: And...
- 6:20SPEAKER_00: I always hum on the back of those scooters because I know my body is being
- 6:23SPEAKER_00: overstimulated because it's very hectic energy to be on a scooter like that.
- 6:28SPEAKER_00: And the traffic here is pretty crazy.
- 6:30SPEAKER_00: And there's a lot of people driving who definitely I wouldn't recommend driving.
- 6:34SPEAKER_00: And so I'm always like and enjoying the pretty views and my body stays relaxed and
- 6:39SPEAKER_00: knows that it's safe,
- 6:40SPEAKER_00: even though there's like chaotic things shaking it up.
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: Now, back to answering this question.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: So, fast forward.
- 6:49SPEAKER_00: Within 24 hours of deciding,
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: let's take some action,
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: I went for a walk on the street I knew I wanted to stay on,
- 6:56SPEAKER_00: set the intention for a private villa and all of the other requirements.
- 7:00SPEAKER_00: The first place that I was drawn to was a standard piece of print paper that said,
- 7:05SPEAKER_00: room available and a WhatsApp number.
- 7:08SPEAKER_00: No photos, no details, nada.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: But I was drawn to it.
- 7:14SPEAKER_00: And my way of spreading my energy is to follow what I'm drawn to.
- 7:17SPEAKER_00: So I reached out and carried on my walk, bopping in and out of places and trespassing just a little bit.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: Fast forward again by the end of my walk, which ended at the beach.
- 7:28SPEAKER_00: The only place I even scheduled an appointment with was that first place from my little piece of paper.
- 7:34SPEAKER_00: The next day, 1 p.m., I go, I meet the owner, we connect.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: I felt right at home.
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: My body said, yes.
- 7:42SPEAKER_00: We negotiated, we shook hands.
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: I said, I can move in on the 15th.
- 7:46SPEAKER_00: And he said, okay.
- 7:48SPEAKER_00: We looked at the calendar and discovered that was tomorrow.
- 7:53SPEAKER_00: Well, now today.
- 7:54SPEAKER_00: We laughed because we both had genuinely no idea what day of the week or year or month it was.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: Bali.
- 8:06SPEAKER_00: Come this morning,
- 8:07SPEAKER_00: my friend put my suitcases on his scooter and I walked myself across the rice field
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: and into my new villa in a matter of minutes.
- 8:15SPEAKER_00: That is moving in Bali.
- 8:21SPEAKER_00: Magic.
- 8:22SPEAKER_00: And so it goes right on time and exactly when I'm ready.
- 8:26SPEAKER_00: And now this is where we're recording for you today.
- 8:31SPEAKER_00: Welcome home.
- 8:33SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: Now, a quote I loved.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: Humans are naturally good at learning.
- 8:39SPEAKER_00: Our superpower isn't strength or speed or size.
- 8:44SPEAKER_00: How true is that?
- 8:46SPEAKER_00: Super true and super cool.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: So I hope you choose to consciously use your superpower of learning in the rest of today's episode.
- 8:54SPEAKER_00: How to let your body know you're a safe space.
- 8:58SPEAKER_00: Say no.
- 9:00SPEAKER_00: Now this is just one way to let your body know that you're a safe space.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Every time we say no to something not in our best interest, we're telling our body we're a safe place.
- 9:09SPEAKER_00: This is a depiction of honoring our boundaries.
- 9:12SPEAKER_00: The first core method of activating our self-friendship.
- 9:16SPEAKER_00: When we honor our boundaries, we increase our confidence.
- 9:19SPEAKER_00: The second core method, which sustains our alignment.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: The third core method.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: The audio version of the three core methods can be accessed for free at the top of
- 9:28SPEAKER_00: the Planet Butter publication.
- 9:30SPEAKER_00: The link is in the show notes.
- 9:32SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: The intersection of spirituality, psychology, and physical health.
- 9:39SPEAKER_00: My friend Teal, an incredible intuitive reader who I bi-monthly host Instagram and TikTok lives with.
- 9:43SPEAKER_00: She's under the moon with Teal.
- 9:46SPEAKER_00: If you want to look her up.
- 9:48SPEAKER_00: As the rabbit hole experts that we are,
- 9:51SPEAKER_00: she recently shared with me,
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: as children,
- 9:53SPEAKER_00: we subconsciously strengthen certain areas of the body energetically,
- 9:58SPEAKER_00: known as our chakras,
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: as a means of protecting ourselves.
- 10:02SPEAKER_00: This got me thinking,
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: critically,
- 10:05SPEAKER_00: as we love to do on Planet Butter,
- 10:08SPEAKER_00: about how our athleticism might connect with our chakras.
- 10:12SPEAKER_00: While genetics of course plays a significant role in our athleticism,
- 10:16SPEAKER_00: I'm wondering how the level of our athleticism might be influenced by our
- 10:21SPEAKER_00: subconscious energetic connections that we've formed with our chakras from a young age.
- 10:28SPEAKER_00: If certain areas are strengthened,
- 10:30SPEAKER_00: I figure there must be an impact on our ability to perform varying physical
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: activities based on our trust,
- 10:37SPEAKER_00: confidence,
- 10:38SPEAKER_00: and safety
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: within ourselves, or lack thereof, in certain areas of our body.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: Learning more about this would be a whole other incredible layer of our
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: self-friendship practice,
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: embracing,
- 10:49SPEAKER_00: understanding,
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: and enjoying ourselves.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Let me know if anyone wants to attempt a science experiment with me.
- 10:55SPEAKER_00: I'm in.
- 10:57SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 10:58SPEAKER_00: A prospective dance with self-fulfilling prophecies.
- 11:01SPEAKER_00: Boop, boop, boop, boop, boop.
- 11:03SPEAKER_00: self-fulfilling prophecies, but for the good stuff.
- 11:06SPEAKER_00: As we often discuss here on Planet Butter and Self-Friendship Podcast, this is just a connotation game.
- 11:13SPEAKER_00: Self-fulfilling prophecies tend to have a negative connotation,
- 11:16SPEAKER_00: much like manifesting tends to have a positive and mystical connotation.
- 11:21SPEAKER_00: In actuality, they are equal to each other in terms of results.
- 11:27SPEAKER_00: Whether they're positive or negative depends on the perception of the individual's
- 11:31SPEAKER_00: interpretation of their experience and the phrases.
- 11:38SPEAKER_00: Moving on, we border between self-preservation and self-abandonment.
- 11:44SPEAKER_00: As a loving reminder, boundaries is the first core method to activating our self-friendship.
- 11:49SPEAKER_00: When we honor our boundaries,
- 11:50SPEAKER_00: we increase our confidence,
- 11:52SPEAKER_00: the second core method,
- 11:53SPEAKER_00: and by default,
- 11:54SPEAKER_00: we become more in alignment.
- 11:56SPEAKER_00: The third core method, alignment with ourselves, that is.
- 12:01SPEAKER_00: All right, here's the note on boundaries.
- 12:03SPEAKER_00: Our ability to understand somebody else's experience or perspective does not
- 12:08SPEAKER_00: reflect a shift in our own boundaries.
- 12:12SPEAKER_00: We can understand,
- 12:13SPEAKER_00: empathize,
- 12:14SPEAKER_00: and intellectualize somebody else's perspective and experience while respecting our
- 12:22SPEAKER_00: own position in the given context and our own boundaries accordingly.
- 12:28SPEAKER_00: It's self-preservation.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: If we compromise our boundaries out of empathy for someone else, it becomes self-abandonment.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: Now, perspective dance with pick your battles.
- 12:42SPEAKER_00: Don't pick your battles.
- 12:44SPEAKER_00: Mind your energy.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: Next, a note on work.
- 12:50SPEAKER_00: The ideal perspective as per self-friendship is that we are not defined by our work, but expressed by it.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Simple as that.
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: Now,
- 13:00SPEAKER_00: if you're not expressed by your work,
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: then we need to take a lot of steps back in that self-friendship practice and do
- 13:07SPEAKER_00: something about those boundaries of yours because you are crossing your own
- 13:10SPEAKER_00: boundaries by not doing work that is expressing yourself.
- 13:18SPEAKER_00: Handwriting and limiting beliefs.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: I wonder what the correlation is between the size of our handwriting and limiting beliefs.
- 13:25SPEAKER_00: I think this could be a cool aspect of our self-friendship practice,
- 13:29SPEAKER_00: embracing and abandoning and enjoying ourselves.
- 13:32SPEAKER_00: Are you getting it yet?
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: If we can learn about limiting beliefs in relation to how we write,
- 13:38SPEAKER_00: maybe if we try playing around with our writing style,
- 13:41SPEAKER_00: we can forge new mental pathways for releasing whatever limiting beliefs we may hold.
- 13:48SPEAKER_00: All right, now what you want to want to hear.
- 13:51SPEAKER_00: I love this one, super short, but I love it.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: All right, sometimes people tell people what they want to hear.
- 13:57SPEAKER_00: I like to believe that with my work on Planet Butter, I'm telling you what you want to want to hear.
- 14:06SPEAKER_00: You might not even know what it is you wanna hear, but when you listen, you realize.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: Now a perspective dance.
- 14:15SPEAKER_00: It's so fun doing this on camera because now you can see me doing my dance.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: I always do this when I say perspective dance and nobody knows until now.
- 14:23SPEAKER_00: A perspective dance with put your best foot forward.
- 14:28SPEAKER_00: This is a self-friendship article snippet from Planet Butter's publication.
- 14:31SPEAKER_00: Again, the link is in the show notes.
- 14:33SPEAKER_00: ChatGPT,
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: my second best friend,
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: says,
- 14:38SPEAKER_00: the phrase best foot forward means to make a good impression or to present oneself
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: in the best possible way.
- 14:44SPEAKER_00: It's often used when someone is starting something new or entering a situation
- 14:48SPEAKER_00: where they want to appear at their best.
- 14:53SPEAKER_00: So for me, for us here on Planet Butter,
- 14:57SPEAKER_00: I read this and my brain goes .
- 15:02SPEAKER_00: The nuance,
- 15:03SPEAKER_00: as I love to highlight,
- 15:05SPEAKER_00: is that this popular phrase gives the illusion of our ability to control other
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: people's perceptions of us.
- 15:12SPEAKER_00: In case you didn't know, we cannot control the way other people see us.
- 15:20SPEAKER_00: Got it?
- 15:21SPEAKER_00: Cool.
- 15:22SPEAKER_00: Now, hesitation kills.
- 15:26SPEAKER_00: I say this about traffic in a literal sense.
- 15:28SPEAKER_00: When people are driving,
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: hesitation,
- 15:30SPEAKER_00: starting,
- 15:31SPEAKER_00: stopping,
- 15:32SPEAKER_00: and then suddenly going causes accidents and hurts people.
- 15:36SPEAKER_00: But when we just commit to what we are doing, everyone can lead each other and we flow.
- 15:44SPEAKER_00: Same goes for self-friendship.
- 15:45SPEAKER_00: When we focus on our own practice,
- 15:47SPEAKER_00: honoring our boundaries,
- 15:49SPEAKER_00: embodying confidence,
- 15:50SPEAKER_00: and sustaining our alignment,
- 15:52SPEAKER_00: the three core methods,
- 15:54SPEAKER_00: We create flow.
- 15:57SPEAKER_00: When we are all in alignment and we have activated self-friendship,
- 16:01SPEAKER_00: we move together effortlessly and hesitation disappears.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Now, it's not counterintuitive, it's counter logic.
- 16:12SPEAKER_00: Counterintuitively, counter intuition.
- 16:17SPEAKER_00: But if your intuition tells you to do something counterintuitive, then it's not really counterintuitive.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: It's counter logic.
- 16:26SPEAKER_00: There's a point where intuition starts to feel like logic because of our experiences.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: So is intuition just logic with a touch of emotion?
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: If it's not logic and it's not purely emotional, then it must be intuitive.
- 16:40SPEAKER_00: But here's the thing.
- 16:42SPEAKER_00: Our intuition is shaped by our experiences and by how our soul,
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: body,
- 16:46SPEAKER_00: and mind all interact,
- 16:48SPEAKER_00: which,
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: of course,
- 16:49SPEAKER_00: also comes from experience.
- 16:51SPEAKER_00: This is all to say that our intuition is superior to all because it's a product of
- 16:57SPEAKER_00: experience and trust in ourselves and the universe.
- 17:02SPEAKER_00: Believe in the magic.
- 17:03SPEAKER_00: Believe in yourself.
- 17:04SPEAKER_00: Trust your intuition.
- 17:07SPEAKER_00: Losing people is a two-way street.
- 17:11SPEAKER_00: It's commonly offered as a form of inspiration that on your path to the top,
- 17:15SPEAKER_00: you're going to lose people on your way.
- 17:18SPEAKER_00: While it's true,
- 17:19SPEAKER_00: it doesn't need to be this wording that is often used as though other people are
- 17:24SPEAKER_00: weighing us down or whatever,
- 17:27SPEAKER_00: and we let go of them on the way to wherever our top is.
- 17:31SPEAKER_00: Nobody is holding us down.
- 17:35SPEAKER_00: We are weighing ourselves down if we are weighed down at all.
- 17:43SPEAKER_00: When we evolve from other people, they are equally evolving from us.
- 17:49SPEAKER_00: Our detachment is not a negative reflection of other people as if we're going to
- 17:54SPEAKER_00: the top and they're staying or going down.
- 17:58SPEAKER_00: Everybody is evolving.
- 18:00SPEAKER_00: That's what time is.
- 18:02SPEAKER_00: We are all evolving.
- 18:03SPEAKER_00: Some do it differently than others.
- 18:06SPEAKER_00: Okay, so it's not a negative reflection of other people.
- 18:10SPEAKER_00: It's a positive reflection of our growth and theirs.
- 18:13SPEAKER_00: Just because we're no longer in alignment doesn't make anyone better than anyone.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: We're all on our own way, all on our way to our own top.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: We're all individual mountains with different peaks.
- 18:27SPEAKER_00: I just made that little analogy up.
- 18:29SPEAKER_00: Super cute, huh?
- 18:31SPEAKER_00: I hope you like it.
- 18:33SPEAKER_00: Now, a perspective dance with running out of breath.
- 18:40SPEAKER_00: There's no such thing as running out of breath, okay?
