- 0:00Speaker 1: They were wearing all black and it didn't help them out. Uh,
- 0:03Speaker 1: they got gashed one hundred and eighty three yards before contact.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Bears running backs ran for a total obliteration of the defense.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We just heard from Nick Sirianni Jeff He was asked
- 0:16Speaker 1: if there was going to be changes. He said, well,
- 0:18Speaker 1: you know, I don't really want to play our hand anything.
- 0:21Speaker 1: The follow up question was to be clear, are you
- 0:24Speaker 1: changing the play caller? And he said no, essentially, was
- 0:29Speaker 1: that what you heard as well?
- 0:31Speaker 2: I heard him say no, yes, no, I heard it
- 0:34Speaker 2: changing the play caller.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Okay, would you let's start with this? Should they be
- 0:40Speaker 1: considering this? And it's just just like, come on, guys
- 0:43Speaker 1: like I always say yes, absolutely, you think they should
- 0:48Speaker 1: change the play caller.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I don't think at this point it could hurt, but
- 0:52Speaker 3: I don't know how much it can help either, depending
- 0:55Speaker 3: on who, like who's who's calling the plays.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Nick Sirianni, Scott Luffler like, I don't. I don't. I
- 1:01Speaker 2: think sometimes you make it, you.
- 1:03Speaker 3: Know, like in baseball they fire the hitting coach and
- 1:05Speaker 3: then you know it's like you made the statement. You
- 1:08Speaker 3: you you sent a message that everybody better start picking
- 1:11Speaker 3: it up or else there you know what might be
- 1:13Speaker 3: on the line, right, that's really the result.
- 1:15Speaker 2: It's not.
- 1:16Speaker 3: It's never because you really really think the hitting coach stinks.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I mean, maybe you do in some situations, but it's
- 1:22Speaker 3: usually because you have nowhere else to go you need
- 1:25Speaker 3: to make I think there's a.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Lot of people that think Kevin Long swings the bat.
- 1:30Speaker 2: I doubt it, but it's funny those people will not.
- 1:34Speaker 3: You notice how well Schwarba has improved a zombie's percentage
- 1:37Speaker 3: of batting average, but then when somebody else slumps like castidos,
- 1:40Speaker 3: they still blame Kevin Long. So the point is, I
- 1:43Speaker 3: don't know who they give the play calling to. The
- 1:46Speaker 3: Sirianni Loefler Jeff Stoutlin, I don't know. I don't think
- 1:49Speaker 3: it's gonna get better, but sometimes a fresh set of eyes, like, look, Mike,
- 1:53Speaker 3: there's three things here, right, change the play caller, change
- 1:56Speaker 3: the quarterback.
- 1:57Speaker 2: You know, you know, Option B ain't happening, right, So at.
- 2:01Speaker 3: This point option eight is a potential or you just
- 2:05Speaker 3: stay with option three, which is just keep doing the
- 2:08Speaker 3: same thing with what you got.
- 2:09Speaker 1: So, I mean, I I agree they don't have really
- 2:14Speaker 1: an option here. They don't really have anybody to turn to.
- 2:16Speaker 1: But how does that reflect on Nick siriannything? Because I
- 2:20Speaker 1: contend like this was the wrong Why I don't think
- 2:24Speaker 1: he's number one maybe on the list.
- 2:26Speaker 4: I think this is a whole convoluted problem.
- 2:28Speaker 1: But Sirianni, the root of the problem is hiring a
- 2:31Speaker 1: guy that really shouldn't be in this spot anyway. This
- 2:33Speaker 1: is either went to the Super Bowl and they basically said, hey,
- 2:36Speaker 1: let's get a guy who's never done this before and
- 2:38Speaker 1: put him in charge. You backed yourself into a corner
- 2:41Speaker 1: that if it didn't work, you have no place else
- 2:43Speaker 1: to go. So is this a spot where Jeffrey and
- 2:47Speaker 1: Howie get involved with this decision?
- 2:51Speaker 3: Well, they have in the past, and so it would
- 2:54Speaker 3: not surprise me if somebody intervened somewhere and said something
- 2:58Speaker 3: has to change to see if a change makes a difference.
- 3:03Speaker 3: Now this is a little different because this is a
- 3:07Speaker 3: guy who's now been two Super Bowls, won a Super Bowl, right,
- 3:11Speaker 3: I mean with Doug, he had won a Super Bowl
- 3:14Speaker 3: and then things started to regress a little bit, and then.
- 3:17Speaker 2: You know, his hiring practices had come under question. But
- 3:20Speaker 2: I don't really think.
- 3:22Speaker 3: That jeff Fleury looks at the situation and cares what's
- 3:25Speaker 3: been one I think he just cares about what the
- 3:27Speaker 3: product looks like now. And it does not look good now,
- 3:30Speaker 3: and it hasn't looked good for thirteen weeks.
- 3:33Speaker 1: It doesn't and it doesn't seem to be improving at all,
- 3:36Speaker 1: and it doesn't seem to be changing at all. It
- 3:38Speaker 1: just seems like they keep trying to do the same things.
- 3:40Speaker 1: They're not trying to say, hey, this isn't working, Let's
- 3:42Speaker 1: see if we could do something different. When you look
- 3:45Speaker 1: at the run game, this run game's not getting better, right.
- 3:47Speaker 1: There's no magic change to this run game. Do you see, Hey,
- 3:51Speaker 1: if they try to do something different in the run game,
- 3:53Speaker 1: they might work.
- 3:55Speaker 3: I would be curious, you know if. And I still
- 3:58Speaker 3: believe this. I don't think Saquan's slower. I don't think
- 4:01Speaker 3: he might be a little bit more tentative and reluctant
- 4:04Speaker 3: as these weeks have gone on because he's pressing. But
- 4:06Speaker 3: I don't think there's anything physically wrong with him. However,
- 4:09Speaker 3: it may just be a good idea to give give
- 4:12Speaker 3: some more carries to tank, bigs, Beat and will Shipley
- 4:16Speaker 3: because a.
- 4:17Speaker 2: The defense may not think it's coming b.
- 4:19Speaker 3: Maybe you get a little spark by two hungry running backs,
- 4:22Speaker 3: and maybe that's all you need to help you out.
- 4:25Speaker 3: This whole offense does not need to be resurrected from
- 4:29Speaker 3: the bottom.
- 4:30Speaker 2: It's getting close.
- 4:31Speaker 3: But my point is it's never been a prolific offense
- 4:35Speaker 3: for a season. It's been prolific in short stretches right,
- 4:38Speaker 3: and important games like the NFC Championship.
- 4:41Speaker 2: In Super Bowl.
- 4:42Speaker 3: So all you're looking for is to try to bring
- 4:45Speaker 3: a little bit of a spark back and you know,
- 4:48Speaker 3: crawl before you walk again. Try to get yourself a
- 4:50Speaker 3: few more sparks, and maybe those two guys can provide it.
- 4:54Speaker 1: That being said, the offense obviously big problems. Patula is
- 4:57Speaker 1: getting a lot of slacker. I mean, he's got signs
- 5:00Speaker 1: about on Pattison Avenue. Now fire Fortula. This is a
- 5:03Speaker 1: new level of a creativity where you get the workers
- 5:07Speaker 1: involved here. I don't know, are you putting him at
- 5:10Speaker 1: the top of the list. Do you put Sirianni above him?
- 5:13Speaker 1: Or do you look at the players? You look at
- 5:15Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts and say, hey, listen, he just did not
- 5:17Speaker 1: play well either.
- 5:18Speaker 3: It's funny how we weren't allowed to talk about this
- 5:20Speaker 3: when they were eight and two because all they do
- 5:22Speaker 3: is win. But you know, even though we've been talking
- 5:24Speaker 3: about this all year long, it's it's okay to talk
- 5:26Speaker 3: about it now that.
- 5:27Speaker 2: They've lost to Row.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Very interesting how the comments on YouTube and social media
- 5:31Speaker 3: change when you actually tell somebody it's raining when the
- 5:34Speaker 3: water is already falling from the sky, instead of when
- 5:38Speaker 3: it's just really crowdy and you can tell that it's
- 5:40Speaker 3: going to rain. I think that it's unfortunate for Patullo.
- 5:43Speaker 3: I think that you've made somewhat of a fair plight.
- 5:48Speaker 3: I've sort of resisted your idea or your point that
- 5:51Speaker 3: you've made all year that you can't hire a guy
- 5:54Speaker 3: with no play calling experience for a team that's super
- 5:56Speaker 3: Bowl ready, because I think that there are probably examples
- 5:59Speaker 3: of first time play callers you've had a lot of success.
- 6:02Speaker 2: I mean, you're just you can't exactly tell.
- 6:04Speaker 3: When a guy's ready or not ready, but there's no
- 6:07Speaker 3: denying or there's nowhere to go to Like your point is,
- 6:10Speaker 3: so maybe maybe.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Higher first time play caller if you've got some veteran
- 6:17Speaker 1: guy who's the quarterback coach or the offensive consultant or
- 6:22Speaker 1: the pass game coordinator who's you know, Tom Moore, who's
- 6:25Speaker 1: just hanging around and you're like, hey, man, like, I
- 6:28Speaker 1: know you're eighty five years old, but you know you've
- 6:30Speaker 1: done this before. I mean, somebody to that extent if
- 6:33Speaker 1: he's on the staff. This team doesn't have a guy
- 6:35Speaker 1: on the staff qualified to call plays.
- 6:38Speaker 4: It's unbelievable.
- 6:40Speaker 2: It seems that way, Mike, it really does.
- 6:42Speaker 3: You know, they're they're turning the ball over now at
- 6:44Speaker 3: a little bit higher of a rate that they were before,
- 6:47Speaker 3: and that's obviously not helpful either.
- 6:49Speaker 2: The tush push turnover.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I feel like they're just everything that can go wrong
- 6:53Speaker 3: is going wrong for the offense that already wasn't performing well.
- 6:57Speaker 1: How much is this, though, that the players lack confidence
- 7:01Speaker 1: in the play caller.
- 7:04Speaker 3: I don't think any of it is lacking confidence in
- 7:06Speaker 3: the play caller, honestly. Yeah, I mean there might be
- 7:10Speaker 3: some skepticism because whenever you lose, there is I think
- 7:15Speaker 3: that let's separate the play caller from the actual offense.
- 7:19Speaker 3: I think that might be more of it where people
- 7:21Speaker 3: are really skeptical the just ridiculously simple offense that they
- 7:26Speaker 3: have run for years now that teams get to see.
- 7:30Speaker 2: More and more and more all the time.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Is probably the bigger issue for the players than the
- 7:37Speaker 3: play caller itself.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Well, I mean, and that's another you know, this is
- 7:42Speaker 1: think has been bizarre, right. You got Sirianni who was
- 7:44Speaker 1: the play caller when he got here seven games and
- 7:47Speaker 1: I went back and looked at those seven he was
- 7:48Speaker 1: throwing the ball forty times a game. I mean, it
- 7:51Speaker 1: was crazy. Did not think that he could at least
- 7:55Speaker 1: lend a hand here? And maybe but he doesn't want
- 7:57Speaker 1: to do it for whatever reason? Is it because he
- 7:59Speaker 1: does don't want to step over his bounds to his
- 8:02Speaker 1: buddy here? I mean, why do you think that Sirianni
- 8:05Speaker 1: doesn't see what's happening here and and and step in?
- 8:08Speaker 1: Because this is getting eerily similar to what happened a
- 8:11Speaker 1: couple of years ago when they did make a change.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Is it because they made a change a couple of
- 8:15Speaker 1: years ago and that blew up?
- 8:17Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 8:17Speaker 3: I mean, and listen, we you know, just because Nick
- 8:19Speaker 3: Sirianni said no changes are gonna be made, doesn't mean.
- 8:21Speaker 2: No changes are gonna be made like that.
- 8:24Speaker 3: You know, he didn't announce to the world that he
- 8:26Speaker 3: had stripped Sewan desigh of his third down play calling,
- 8:31Speaker 3: and he didn't even announce to the world until it
- 8:33Speaker 3: was already discovered that Matt Patricia was becoming the new
- 8:38Speaker 3: play caller.
- 8:39Speaker 4: So I.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Remember, this is Nick Sirianni's offense anyway, So whether.
- 8:45Speaker 2: Or not he's making the play calls, he's on the ear,
- 8:47Speaker 2: he's on.
- 8:48Speaker 3: The head, fight he's My point is he's a He's
- 8:50Speaker 3: as much a part of it as anybody else.
- 8:52Speaker 1: Was this Okay, we always hear this is Knick's offense.
- 8:55Speaker 1: Was this offense what Kellen had to run last year
- 8:58Speaker 1: as well?
- 8:59Speaker 3: Yeah, he just had a running game. The route concepts
- 9:02Speaker 3: are not all that different.
- 9:03Speaker 2: You know.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Maybe Kevin had a better feel at times to call
- 9:08Speaker 3: the plays that are being called now at different times.
- 9:11Speaker 3: I don't know that only only you know inside the.
- 9:14Speaker 2: Building would know.
- 9:16Speaker 3: But let's I mean, let's be fair to Kevin Batulo.
- 9:18Speaker 3: He has had zero running game, zero running game.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I give no envy to being a play caller where
- 9:24Speaker 1: half your playbook doesn't work.
- 9:26Speaker 4: Right.
- 9:26Speaker 2: You know, third and eight is a really tough down
- 9:28Speaker 2: in the NFL.
- 9:28Speaker 3: I guarantee you that the rate of conversion on third
- 9:31Speaker 3: and eight is pretty low, right, probably like in the
- 9:34Speaker 3: thirty percentile of not twenty percentile. But when it was
- 9:37Speaker 3: third and eight, he had a really good play call
- 9:40Speaker 3: to get DeVante Smith wide open. And you know, maybe
- 9:44Speaker 3: the wind was an issue or the communication on the route.
- 9:47Speaker 3: I'm not saying this just to put on hurts. I'm
- 9:50Speaker 3: just sort of saying this to say, just because the
- 9:53Speaker 3: ball doesn't go to guys, it doesn't mean guy the Again,
- 9:55Speaker 3: it's the same offense, but they have figured out ways
- 9:58Speaker 3: to scheme guys open and sometimes.
- 10:00Speaker 2: The guys just don't get the ball.
- 10:02Speaker 4: Yeah, and just.
- 10:03Speaker 2: Telling you that for all all year long.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yes, well, and like AJ Brown had another good game.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I mean, so he's having a bigger factor, but it
- 10:11Speaker 1: doesn't seem to be working because they can't run the ball.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I mean, that's what it's coming down to here. They
- 10:15Speaker 1: can't run the ball. That whole part of the offense
- 10:17Speaker 1: has completely been taken away here. So you wonder if
- 10:20Speaker 1: changing the play caller really changes a whole heck.
- 10:22Speaker 4: Of a lot here.
- 10:23Speaker 2: That's exactly my point, Like who's doing what to this offense?
- 10:28Speaker 3: You know, I mean that's I feel like we'll struggle
- 10:32Speaker 3: with this until one of two things happens one the
- 10:35Speaker 3: Eagles figure out a way to rediscover their running game,
- 10:38Speaker 3: or two, then they've overhauled the offense at some point
- 10:43Speaker 3: if they feel like they can well. And you know this,
- 10:46Speaker 3: this does invite the Jalen Hurts conversation. Ken, Jalen Hurts
- 10:51Speaker 3: function in the offense that is way more complex, has
- 10:54Speaker 3: a ton more motion.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Could he function in the Kyle Shanahan type of offense?
- 10:57Speaker 2: Only we don't know.
- 10:59Speaker 3: I mean, obviously I think that the people who coach
- 11:02Speaker 3: him don't believe, and maybe even he himself doesn't want
- 11:05Speaker 3: all of that, and he's fine with how the offense is.
- 11:08Speaker 3: He certainly echoes that sentiment when you talk. When you
- 11:11Speaker 3: hear Jalen Hurt speak, he just thinks that what they
- 11:14Speaker 3: do needs to get better, not necessarily drastically change conceptually.
- 11:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and like you know, ultimately here, I think people
- 11:24Speaker 1: want changes for the sake of change, and they're trying
- 11:26Speaker 1: to blame somebody.
- 11:27Speaker 4: Buttila seems to be the easy guy.
- 11:28Speaker 1: The offense isn't working, and because they have so many
- 11:32Speaker 1: talented players that were here on a team that won
- 11:34Speaker 1: the Super Bowl, it's not like this offense is brand new,
- 11:37Speaker 1: like the defensive side. Okay, we lost Sweat, you lost
- 11:40Speaker 1: Milton Williams, you lost Darius Slay. You could make an
- 11:43Speaker 1: argument as to why that defense might struggle, But it's
- 11:45Speaker 1: not on the offensive side of all. It's like you
- 11:48Speaker 1: won the Super Bowl with the same group of guys
- 11:51Speaker 1: and the only new guy really besides Steen is the
- 11:55Speaker 1: play caller, and therefore he's getting all of this. But
- 11:59Speaker 1: why is this offense so different from the offense we
- 12:02Speaker 1: saw a year ago?
- 12:03Speaker 4: The offensive line's not any good.
- 12:05Speaker 3: Well, I mean, that's an issue, but you know, we've
- 12:08Speaker 3: come this far and Dickerson is state healthier.
- 12:11Speaker 2: Jurgens is bad.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Like the Bearers have had offensive line issues. The forty
- 12:16Speaker 3: nine ers run the ball really well, they've had offensive
- 12:19Speaker 3: line issues.
- 12:19Speaker 2: At some point. It can't just be the offensive line
- 12:22Speaker 2: is banged up.
- 12:23Speaker 3: There's something else obviously going on with the offensive design,
- 12:26Speaker 3: the run game design, how the defenses are playing it.
- 12:30Speaker 3: That it can't just now all be offensive line because
- 12:33Speaker 3: the protection has been really, really good. So what the
- 12:36Speaker 3: offensive lineman are They so banged up that they can't
- 12:38Speaker 3: run block but they can pass block really well.
- 12:41Speaker 2: That doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
- 12:42Speaker 3: So it I do believe early on that was a
- 12:44Speaker 3: big part of it because we saw it. We saw
- 12:46Speaker 3: that Cam and I do. I do acknowledge that that
- 12:49Speaker 3: is still part of it. Jurgens just doesn't have the
- 12:52Speaker 3: same fluidity right now. Maybe next year I'll get it back,
- 12:55Speaker 3: you know, a year removed from the surgery at all.
- 12:57Speaker 3: Same thing with Dickerson.
- 13:00Speaker 2: You know, Wayne Johnson's obviously not playing, so.
- 13:02Speaker 3: That that's a part of it, but it can't be
- 13:04Speaker 3: the only reason that they can't run the ball.
- 13:07Speaker 1: What did you think of the game Hurts played and
- 13:09Speaker 1: the way that he's played the last couple of weeks
- 13:11Speaker 1: in the role of this offensive struggles man.
- 13:14Speaker 3: The Eagles give up two hundred and eighty one rushing yards.
- 13:16Speaker 3: We are fourteen minutes into this thing. We haven't even
- 13:20Speaker 3: talked about that.
- 13:22Speaker 1: I did open this segment with the one hundred and
- 13:25Speaker 1: eighty three yards that they gave up on defense before contact, before.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Contact, right, and I have a theory on what might
- 13:33Speaker 3: be going on with that, but I'll answer that first.
- 13:36Speaker 3: You know, Jillenhurts is he's gonna say he's a robot man.
- 13:39Speaker 3: He says the same thing every time, So you know,
- 13:42Speaker 3: I do feel like he's owning it, but at least verbally,
- 13:46Speaker 3: I'm not sure how much he's owning it behind closed
- 13:48Speaker 3: doors and on the practice fields and.
- 13:50Speaker 2: On the on the playing field. He didn't have a
- 13:52Speaker 2: great game. Neither did Caleb Williams.
- 13:56Speaker 3: And that's either because both of them tend to be
- 13:58Speaker 3: erratic when they passed the ball, or that the was
- 14:00Speaker 3: really really bad, and I could believe both.
- 14:05Speaker 1: All right, let's look at this defense then one under
- 14:08Speaker 1: eighty three yards they gave up on the ground before contact. Yeah,
- 14:13Speaker 1: you know, they just got pushed all over the place.
- 14:15Speaker 1: And you're watching that game, and I think everybody's takeaways. Man,
- 14:18Speaker 1: look at the creativity and the run game there. They
- 14:20Speaker 1: are getting guys pulling and things are just moving and shaking.
- 14:25Speaker 1: They're all over the place here. Why the Eagles defensive
- 14:30Speaker 1: be is hard? They got gashed by Dallas, they got
- 14:32Speaker 1: gashed this week. They're giving up like five hundred yards
- 14:34Speaker 1: in the last two games here. Yeah, So is the
- 14:37Speaker 1: defense has been on the field too much? Are they
- 14:39Speaker 1: getting asked to do too much?
- 14:41Speaker 4: Or are they starting to wear down a little bit? Here?
- 14:45Speaker 3: Well, I mean that's not an ore, that's a that's
- 14:47Speaker 3: a hand in hand they are on the field more.
- 14:50Speaker 3: The offense leads the NFL in three and now it
- 14:52Speaker 3: it's got a terrible third down percentage. I did some
- 14:54Speaker 3: digging into the stats today. I have a story up
- 14:57Speaker 3: on Philly dot Com right now. People can read more
- 14:59Speaker 3: about it.
- 14:59Speaker 2: But the Eagles have played.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I believe the number was sixty nine more defensive snaps
- 15:04Speaker 3: this year through twelve games and last year.
- 15:06Speaker 2: Which is not a negligible number. Sixty nine more. Divide
- 15:09Speaker 2: that by twelve. That's like, you know, about six snaps
- 15:12Speaker 2: more per game.
- 15:14Speaker 3: But Mike, they had a four man de tackle rotation
- 15:18Speaker 3: last year. This year they have basically a three man rotation.
- 15:23Speaker 3: Byron Young was only playing about twenty percent of the
- 15:24Speaker 3: snaps going into that Chicago game. He wound up playing
- 15:27Speaker 3: a lot of that game because he had to because
- 15:29Speaker 3: they were on the field so much. But if you
- 15:32Speaker 3: look Jill and Carter, his snap count from last year
- 15:35Speaker 3: to this year about to say eighty four eighty five
- 15:37Speaker 3: percent this year. Okay, but look at the difference between
- 15:41Speaker 3: Jordan Davis and morowd Jomo. These guys have seen their
- 15:45Speaker 3: snap percentages nearly double from last year to this year.
- 15:50Speaker 2: They are playing way.
- 15:51Speaker 3: More snaps, and as people will see when we do
- 15:55Speaker 3: inside the Table Greg god Cosel this week, when we
- 15:58Speaker 3: do the defense version, you'll say Jordan Davis, Moro, Jomo
- 16:02Speaker 3: getting driven back, Davis standing up again, you know, playing
- 16:05Speaker 3: high as it's called losing his leverage. I've always liked
- 16:10Speaker 3: a Joemo Moore as a pass rusher than as a
- 16:13Speaker 3: power point of attack player. I think Milton Williams was
- 16:16Speaker 3: a little stronger, a lot stronger actually in that department,
- 16:19Speaker 3: more built for it. So it's not that I think
- 16:22Speaker 3: these guys are bad at run defense, but if you're
- 16:23Speaker 3: putting him on the field twice as much, they're gonna
- 16:26Speaker 3: wear it down twice as fast. Right, And these guys,
- 16:29Speaker 3: and Vic Fangio is not a believer in a whole
- 16:32Speaker 3: lot of deep rotations. He plays, you know, just three
- 16:35Speaker 3: or four de Look what's happened to josh U j
- 16:38Speaker 3: who is doing a pretty good job, But ever since
- 16:39Speaker 3: they got Joe and Phillips and Brandon gre he almost
- 16:42Speaker 3: never see j on the field anymore. Look what's happened
- 16:44Speaker 3: to John Campbell. He didn't play a single snap the
- 16:47Speaker 3: last game. So Vic is not a high rotation guy,
- 16:51Speaker 3: and he's only really playing three dts, and two of
- 16:54Speaker 3: them are playing a monster amount of snaps compared to
- 16:57Speaker 3: last year.
- 16:57Speaker 2: So yes, I do think the offense.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Where we're blaming the offense for everything, we might as
- 17:02Speaker 3: well blame the offense for the defense too, because defense
- 17:04Speaker 3: been on the field too much.
- 17:05Speaker 1: And listen, they had some injuries. You got Sidney Brown
- 17:08Speaker 1: out there, what was you know, Rile? Yeah, I was
- 17:11Speaker 1: gonna And not only was this tackling terrible, they seemed
- 17:14Speaker 1: to be targeted to him. And you know when we
- 17:16Speaker 1: do draft talk and you hear about fluidity in the hips,
- 17:20Speaker 1: there was exhibit a of lousy fluidity.
- 17:23Speaker 4: In the hips.
- 17:24Speaker 1: I mean he got turned around, and I mean it
- 17:26Speaker 1: was embarrassing the way that. You know, that's one when
- 17:29Speaker 1: you see the tape on Saturday, I guess after that
- 17:33Speaker 1: game that the coach is saying, what the heck were
- 17:36Speaker 1: you doing here?
- 17:37Speaker 4: But his you know, his insertion instead of Macouba.
- 17:40Speaker 1: I know, but Cooma didn't seemed to be making a
- 17:42Speaker 1: big impact. But I think Sidney Brown being out there
- 17:45Speaker 1: was definitely noticeable.
- 17:47Speaker 3: Yes, I mean we had not mentioned Mcooba's name a
- 17:50Speaker 3: lot over the last four weeks, which is a good thing.
- 17:52Speaker 2: He wasn't making mistakes.
- 17:53Speaker 3: He was playing the defense the way it should He
- 17:55Speaker 3: was coming downhill, uh, making some really good tackles. So
- 17:59Speaker 3: it's a big difference when you have to go.
- 18:01Speaker 2: In fact, I think Marcus.
- 18:03Speaker 3: EPs might be able to be healthy this week or
- 18:05Speaker 3: come off of r It would not shock me if
- 18:08Speaker 3: Epps was ready to play, if he wound up getting
- 18:10Speaker 3: the shot over over Sydney Brown.
- 18:15Speaker 1: What else we got on this disarray of things that
- 18:18Speaker 1: you could put onto the list here? I mean, the
- 18:20Speaker 1: defensive line had a rough day at the office too,
- 18:22Speaker 1: and you talked about that, But where are the linebackers here?
- 18:24Speaker 4: Where are those guys.
- 18:26Speaker 3: If you're if you're looking for though, if you're kind
- 18:28Speaker 3: of looking for like what else can go wrong? Or
- 18:30Speaker 3: that's going under the radar. The Eagles lost another front
- 18:33Speaker 3: office member. You know, obviously the Dave got the report
- 18:36Speaker 3: that Dave Calbell is going to University of Florida, and
- 18:40Speaker 3: in that in itself is not like the biggest deal
- 18:43Speaker 3: of the world. But you know, you go back to
- 18:45Speaker 3: last offseason, they lost two or three guys. Uh, you know,
- 18:48Speaker 3: they lost two guys to the Raiders, right, they lost
- 18:51Speaker 3: Anthony Patch or senior.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Director of scouting.
- 18:54Speaker 3: They lost Brandon Hunt, they lost somebody else to another
- 18:58Speaker 3: team that.
- 18:59Speaker 2: I can't think of at the moment.
- 19:00Speaker 3: But you know, you got to wonder why all the
- 19:03Speaker 3: success all you know, people leave in the front office.
- 19:05Speaker 2: That's it's one thing if.
- 19:06Speaker 3: They're taking better jobs, and maybe in some cases they were,
- 19:09Speaker 3: but you know it's it's always been you want stability there,
- 19:13Speaker 3: and now you're looking at a little bit more instability
- 19:16Speaker 3: in your front office.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Well, they'll get ready for Monday nights Chargers who have
- 19:23Speaker 1: now justin Herbert with a broken hand, who's probably going
- 19:26Speaker 1: to try to play in the game with the bust
- 19:28Speaker 1: in hand? Here, do you think that they will be
- 19:31Speaker 1: a change made for that before that game?
- 19:35Speaker 2: I think something different will happen before Monday.
- 19:38Speaker 3: There will be some kind of whether it's personnel related,
- 19:41Speaker 3: whether it's coach.
- 19:44Speaker 1: That's the one thing you're evaluating all the changes, Nick,
- 19:47Speaker 1: Where can they make personnel changes?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Well, I brought up the running backs.
- 19:51Speaker 3: I think that that's an easy area where they can
- 19:53Speaker 3: just say, hey, you know, let's give these other guys
- 19:56Speaker 3: more Carrie to see what happens.
- 19:58Speaker 2: You know, just tell saqu want to rest up a
- 20:01Speaker 2: little bit.
- 20:02Speaker 3: You know, obviously you can change if Epps is healthy
- 20:05Speaker 3: at safety, you can and we'll see what the play calling.
- 20:09Speaker 3: You know, you'll know, remember everybody caught Dan Campbell on
- 20:11Speaker 3: camera call in all the plays a couple of weeks ago,
- 20:14Speaker 3: So it'll get out if there's somebody else getting more
- 20:17Speaker 3: involved in the play calling.
- 20:18Speaker 1: Right, Jeff Mooscher, Philly Voice dot com. You can read
- 20:21Speaker 1: all those observations on this game, which think of the
- 20:24Speaker 1: two point conversion, that was a whole another That thing
- 20:26Speaker 1: would have been scrutinized a lot more had maybe people
- 20:29Speaker 1: not been so mad about everything else.
- 20:31Speaker 3: Yeah, so I didn't like it, But I've heard many
- 20:35Speaker 3: and talk to many people on both sides of the argument,
- 20:38Speaker 3: and I feel like I'm in a position where I can, respectfully,
- 20:41Speaker 3: I can understand the other side of the argument, because
- 20:44Speaker 3: the problem with these arguments, Mike is there's no definitive outcome.
- 20:47Speaker 3: You can't I can't tell you that if he had
- 20:50Speaker 3: kicked the you know, kick the extra point instead, that
- 20:53Speaker 3: they would have had a better shot of winning. I
- 20:54Speaker 3: can't tell you that they had a worse shot of losing.
- 20:57Speaker 2: You just don't know.
- 20:57Speaker 3: So it's just your your and the problem with the
- 21:00Speaker 3: analytics part of it is that analytics are all based
- 21:03Speaker 3: on what the league average is and doesn't really take
- 21:06Speaker 3: into context what your team is doing in that moment, your.
- 21:10Speaker 2: Personnel, your injuries, you're sit with the wind, all of that.
- 21:13Speaker 3: So I can understand why you don't go with the
- 21:16Speaker 3: analytics round every time your way if you're just married
- 21:19Speaker 3: to what you do.
- 21:19Speaker 1: So I totally understand what you're saying. And a lot
- 21:24Speaker 1: of times I say, listen, they go by the analytics.
- 21:26Speaker 1: That's what they go by in this inference here. If
- 21:28Speaker 1: you're the coach of the team, don't you want your
- 21:30Speaker 1: players and the other team to have more pressure on
- 21:33Speaker 1: them knowing it's a one score game as opposed to
- 21:36Speaker 1: a two score game with three minutes left.
- 21:38Speaker 4: I mean, that just seems like very.
- 21:41Speaker 3: Valid argument for that. I respect both sides of the argument.
- 21:45Speaker 4: All right.
- 21:45Speaker 1: Check out Jeff and the guys over Inside the Birds,
