- 0:39of the table, anything and everything related
- 0:41to the bag and more, okay? I am the man with
- 0:45the plan. I am your GM who currently is not on
- 0:48a team right now, but don't you worry about it,
- 0:51okay? Don't you worry about it because guess
- 0:54what? I got two mock drafts for two different
- 0:57teams lined up already. may post them today may
- 1:00post them tomorrow I don't know stay tuned though
- 1:03I am all these things and more but most importantly
- 1:07the most important thing that you must remember
- 1:10is I'm your host, Kale. You already know how
- 1:13these things are about to go. You already know
- 1:15how these episodes are about to go. A bunch of
- 1:17truth bombs, a bunch of reality checks, a bunch
- 1:20of controversial things that may be said. But
- 1:22guess what? It's all out of love because guess
- 1:24what? We got to give the people what they need.
- 1:26And what is that? Their football junkies fix
- 1:29to end the week. So guess what? On three, one,
- 1:32two, three, let's lock in. All right, folks,
- 1:59let's just get into the meat and potatoes of
- 2:02everything that is going on in the league right
- 2:04now. Before we go any further, make sure you
- 2:07guys like, share, subscribe, turn the notification
- 2:10bell on, download the episodes. all those things
- 2:14and more so we can continue to give you guys
- 2:16the football fix that you guys love and need
- 2:20okay so let's just get into it so gino smith
- 2:23inks a two -year 75 million dollar extension
- 2:26that can go up to 85 .5 million all right 66
- 2:31.5 million guaranteed and he'll be making 37
- 2:34.5 million a year which really isn't bad now
- 2:37when we look at his uh his stats for for last
- 2:40season 578 attempts for 407 completions, 4 ,320
- 2:46passing yards, 21 touchdowns, 15 picks, 7 .5
- 2:51yards per attempt, and a 70 .4 completion percentage.
- 2:54Geno Smith is still a really productive quarterback,
- 2:58all right? He is somebody that he's not going
- 3:01to woo you with his play. He is somebody that
- 3:05he's going to get the job done. He's not somebody
- 3:08that's going to be in the same conversation as
- 3:10a Mahomes, a Burrow, a Lamar, or a Josh Allen.
- 3:13He is somebody that's sort of like in that Baker
- 3:17Mayfield type of realm, all right? Somebody that
- 3:21he's going to win you some games. He's going
- 3:23to make some crazy plays, but he's not the creme
- 3:26de la creme when it comes to quarterbacks. Not
- 3:29to mention... We all know that he had his best
- 3:32years under Pete Carroll. So it was only right
- 3:35for them to make sure that they lock him up because
- 3:37when they traded for him, he was on the last
- 3:40year of his deal that the Seahawks gave him.
- 3:43So all it is is just adding on two more years,
- 3:46which really isn't bad. Really think about this
- 3:48for a second here. You got Geno Smith for two
- 3:53more years and he's only making $37 .5 million
- 3:55a year. That's not really bad. It doesn't break
- 3:58the bank. It doesn't put you in cap hell. It
- 4:02doesn't do any of those things. Not to mention,
- 4:04in some ways, you can push back on the priority
- 4:08of quarterback for maybe another two years if
- 4:11you choose to do that. Now, at the same time,
- 4:15maybe next year you may want to still take a
- 4:20quarterback just in case. If you see a little
- 4:22bit of regression, you can still do that because
- 4:24why? His contract is not something where it's
- 4:28ironclad that you have to, you know, stick through
- 4:30it and all those different types of things. It's
- 4:33not like that. It's a very simple deal. It's
- 4:36somewhat of a deal that what Baker Mayfield got
- 4:38from the Buccaneers. So all in all, both sides
- 4:42win. Now, when we look at Trey McBride's deal,
- 4:45all right, four years, 76 million. 43 million
- 4:49guaranteed, and he'll be making 19 million a
- 4:52year. When we look at his stats, 147 targets
- 4:56for 111 receptions, 1 ,146 receiving yards, two
- 5:02touchdowns, 10 .3 receiving yards per attempt.
- 5:06When you look at these stats, you're probably
- 5:08thinking, you mean to tell me they reset the
- 5:10market for Trey McBride based off of these stats?
- 5:12Yes. You have to turn on the tape. You've got
- 5:16to see his performance. Trey McBride, within
- 5:19the last three years, has been one of the rising
- 5:23stars when it comes to tight ends. You are talking
- 5:25about somebody that when he gets the ball, he's
- 5:29going to make a play. Better yet, he's going
- 5:31to extend the play as long as he can. We have
- 5:35seen multiple games where he'll turn a 5 -yard
- 5:39game into a 15 -yard game or a 20 -yard game.
- 5:43That's just how skilled he is. Not to mention,
- 5:47he's someone that sort of flies under the radar
- 5:50when it comes to his performance. He has definitely
- 5:52been one of the more consistent weapons for Kyler
- 5:56Murray. Not to mention, he's put everywhere.
- 6:00Sometimes they'll have him lined up in the slot.
- 6:03Sometimes they'll have him blocked. They'll have
- 6:05him everywhere. And Trey McBride does it all.
- 6:10It was only right for the Cardinals to make him
- 6:13the highest paid tight end. Because now what
- 6:15you're starting to see is, and this probably
- 6:17dates back all the way to maybe the Gronk years,
- 6:22is that quarterbacks love having a reliable tight
- 6:26end. A tight end is a quarterback's best friend.
- 6:29Because when you need them the most, they're
- 6:32always there to get you out of the pitch. Look
- 6:35at all the great quarterbacks in NFL history.
- 6:38They've all had a really great tight end, from
- 6:41Brady to Gronk to Manning and Dallas Clark, which,
- 6:44just on a side note, Dallas Clark and Madden,
- 6:49within the last few years, unstoppable. Don't
- 6:53ask me how I know. Luke, if you're listening
- 6:56to this, don't even start. Don't even pull up
- 6:58the clips. We're not going there, all right?
- 7:02Now, back to the situation at hand. we are starting
- 7:06to see a resurgence in the tight end position
- 7:08as a whole. We are starting to see teams now
- 7:12value the position of tight end because normally
- 7:15back in the day, the tight end was like the really
- 7:18big bulky dude that he may get five yards or
- 7:23he may get five to 10 catches a game, where now
- 7:26you're starting to see them get a thousand yard
- 7:29receiving seasons like a receiver. And so it's
- 7:33only going to continue to go up from here at
- 7:36this point. And Trey McBride is somebody that
- 7:40is going to kick down the door when it comes
- 7:43to the next generation of tight ends. When you
- 7:46have people like him and Isaiah Likely and Pat
- 7:50Friermuth and who else? Who else? Who else? Who
- 7:54else? Sam Laporta. There's a lot of tight ends
- 7:58right now that are monsters that pretty soon
- 8:00they're going to get paid as well. I would not
- 8:02be surprised if Sam Laporta shatters the tight
- 8:06end market again. Just saying. Now let's get
- 8:09into this Joe Milton trade situation. So Joe
- 8:12Milton was traded to the Dallas Cowboys yesterday.
- 8:14All right. So the Cowboys receive, of course,
- 8:17Joe Milton in the seventh round pick and the
- 8:19Patriots receive a fifth round pick. Now, according
- 8:21to Jordan Schultz. He had interests from multiple
- 8:26teams. Some of those teams included the Raiders,
- 8:28the Steelers, the Eagles, Dallas. But apparently,
- 8:32his preferred destination was Dallas. And I can
- 8:37respect that. And I love that the team granted
- 8:40him his preferred destination instead of just
- 8:44sending him to a place that gave them the best
- 8:46offer. Now, I know there's a lot of Steelers
- 8:48fans that are very butthurt about this. Because
- 8:51I was just arguing with one yesterday about it
- 8:54on Twitter. At GM Kale, by the way. G -M -K -A
- 8:59-L -E. And he was basically in his feelings and
- 9:03basically saying, you know, well, he's overrated.
- 9:07And why in the world would we want somebody that's
- 9:09overrated? There's no need for getting him. He's
- 9:11not overrated. He's a project. He was a project
- 9:14coming out of college. He was never going to
- 9:17be this. first rounder or second rounder or third
- 9:21rounder. None of those things. He was very raw.
- 9:24Sure, he has the athleticism. Sure, he has the
- 9:27big arm. Sure, he can throw really fast and it's
- 9:31a beautiful, you know, it's a beautiful motion.
- 9:33All of those things. But the fact of the matter
- 9:36is he hasn't had a lot of opportunities to play.
- 9:40And so with the Patriots signing Josh Dobbs,
- 9:43he was going to get buried in the quarterback
- 9:46room. And so instead of that happening, you might
- 9:50as well just want to put him in a better situation
- 9:52with Dallas because we know sometimes Dak will
- 9:56get a little bit hurt. So this in some ways is
- 9:59an insurance policy. It's not a he's going to
- 10:02be your replacement. No, it's just insurance
- 10:04policy. That's all it is. Joe Milton at best
- 10:09could probably be a career backup. And that's
- 10:11perfectly fine. You can still make a lot of money
- 10:14being a career backup. It's not going to hurt
- 10:16anybody. Now, I will say this for any person
- 10:20that feels like Joe Milton is overrated. Your
- 10:23expectations for Joe Milton is too high. We all
- 10:27know that Joe Milton is a work in progress, that
- 10:31this is going to be a two, a three or maybe even
- 10:34a four year project. And it's going to take you
- 10:37a while and it's going to be nasty. It's going
- 10:39to be ugly. But at best, like I said before,
- 10:43like I just said. He's probably going to be a
- 10:46career backup and that's perfectly fine. So let's
- 10:50get into all the stuff that we need to talk about
- 10:53when it comes to the NFL owners meeting. So a
- 10:56few things were passed, a few things were tabled.
- 10:59And when I mean table, that means that they will
- 11:01be talked about and probably voted on in a later
- 11:05part of the year and whatnot. So here are just
- 11:10a few things. One of the things that was passed,
- 11:14if I'm not mistaken, and it was actually proposed
- 11:17by the Eagles, which is crazy, which is during
- 11:19the regular season in overtime, both teams are
- 11:23guaranteed a possession, which, I mean, that's
- 11:26not really bad. Another rule that was passed,
- 11:29which was proposed by the Steelers, is during
- 11:32the negotiation period of free agency, teams
- 11:34are allowed to have one video call or phone call
- 11:37with no more than five free agents. that's not
- 11:41bad now could this go in a few different directions
- 11:45yes could a team probably try to you know manipulate
- 11:49the rule or whatever yes it'll probably happen
- 11:52but i like the idea i just want to see how it's
- 11:58going to be used moving forward and i'll just
- 12:00leave it there so resolution was passed to basically
- 12:04get rid of the chain gang and replace it with
- 12:07this Sony Hawkeye technology that will be measuring
- 12:11first downs. Let's be real here. In the last
- 12:14few years, we have seen the chain gang mess up
- 12:18very badly when it comes to a lot of calls. We
- 12:21have seen them give people first downs when we
- 12:25know it wasn't a first down. And so... On one
- 12:30hand, it sucks because that takes away jobs for,
- 12:33you know, for those people and whatnot. But at
- 12:36the same time, we've reached a point now where
- 12:38technology is a little bit more accurate and
- 12:42it's a little bit more better and it's a little
- 12:44bit more consistent than what the chain game
- 12:46was. Like we literally saw somebody use a card
- 12:51to determine if the football passed the first
- 12:55down threshold or not. It was time. All right.
- 12:57Now. Here is something that was tabled but was
- 13:01proposed by the Lions. During the seeding for
- 13:04the playoffs, teams will be seeded based on their
- 13:06regular season record instead of division championships.
- 13:10On one hand, I do like this, but I don't know
- 13:14how to really feel about this. Because on one
- 13:17hand, I understand the thought, but I feel like
- 13:22you still have to weigh division rivals a little
- 13:26bit more. Because I think when you still value
- 13:30division rivals, I think it makes the matchups
- 13:34more intense instead of just saying, oh, with
- 13:37a better record, then you're going to have a
- 13:39higher seeding. No, it still needs to be determined
- 13:42of what happens in your division. Because guess
- 13:45what? You could lose each and every one of your
- 13:49divisional games. But if you have the best record
- 13:52or one of the best records, guess what? You're
- 13:55going to have a high seed. That's not really
- 13:56fair. So, Lions, you thought you were going to
- 14:02be sneaky, but clearly it backfired, and here
- 14:06we go. Now, here was something else that wasn't
- 14:10approved. It was actually shot down, and it was
- 14:12proposed by who? The Lions. Get rid of automatic
- 14:15first downs for any defensive holding or illegal
- 14:18contact. Lions are being very sneaky now. We
- 14:22can't be doing this, all right? This isn't jail
- 14:24ball. This is football. Come on. We all know
- 14:28that you guys have corners that like to be a
- 14:31little handsy and whatnot, so it wasn't proved.
- 14:34So stop it, all right? Here is something that
- 14:37I think it could open things up for special teams,
- 14:40and that is touchbacks on kickoffs will be marked
- 14:44at the 35 -yard line. Let's be real here, folks.
- 14:48In the last few years, the NFL has definitely
- 14:51tried to make the kickoff a little bit more safer
- 14:54because we have seen some very horrible injuries
- 14:58when it comes to the kickoff. And so on one hand,
- 15:02I understand that they're trying to fix it and
- 15:06they're trying to keep special teams and that's
- 15:07perfectly fine. But at the same time, you don't
- 15:11want to mess up special teams and kick off to
- 15:13the point where it could actually hurt a team
- 15:16that actually help the team. When we looked at
- 15:19last year, we didn't see a whole lot of, you
- 15:22know, kickoff returns like we have seen in the
- 15:24past. And honestly speaking, there was a point
- 15:27in time where I didn't like the kickoff. I just
- 15:29felt like it was stupid. Not to mention, it also
- 15:34is a disadvantage for rookies because you know
- 15:38why? College football still does the old traditional
- 15:41kickoff. But the NFL has changed. So you would
- 15:45think with them passing the resolution that they
- 15:48did last year or the year before last, that college
- 15:51football would have instituted a change as well.
- 15:54But clearly that's not the case. And clearly
- 15:58that is very much needed. That's the only way
- 16:01that players will be able to be adapted to the
- 16:05changing times. Otherwise, it's going to be a
- 16:08learning curve for any person that's coming into
- 16:10the league. So that resolution is sort of a wait
- 16:13and see type of situation because I already know
- 16:17there's probably going to be a special teams
- 16:18coach or coordinator or whomever that's going
- 16:22to come up with something crazy. I just know
- 16:24it. I know it. Somebody is cooking up a strategy
- 16:27right now. Wait. Just you wait and see. Somebody's
- 16:31going to do something crazy that's going to catch
- 16:33everybody off guard. But moving forward, the
- 16:36banning of the tush push was tabled, and this
- 16:40was proposed by the Packers. Here is something
- 16:43that I think that needs to be talked about with
- 16:45the tush push. On one hand, yes, I understand
- 16:48it's basically the most broken move in football
- 16:53and that nobody can stop it. But I think we have
- 16:57to look at the side effects when it comes to
- 16:59the health of the players that perform the tush
- 17:02push. You are literally burying yourself at the
- 17:08opponent's legs and knees in order to get to
- 17:11the first down. That's not safe at all because
- 17:14it will take the right player who will be just
- 17:17as ballsy and gutsy to do it that will literally
- 17:21deliberately try to basically headbutt himself
- 17:25to try to stop the tush push from happening at
- 17:29this point i think we need to look at the the
- 17:33side effects that may come with this instead
- 17:36of just saying oh we need to continue to keep
- 17:38this play going no i am against the tush push
- 17:43i think it is a very dangerous move I think it
- 17:48is a move that puts offensive linemen in harm's
- 17:52way. I think it puts defensive players in harm's
- 17:55way. And I think it is a move that all it takes
- 18:00is just one situation and it can cause a serious
- 18:03injury to somebody. And I don't want that to
- 18:07happen. I don't want to continue to see players
- 18:09being carted off and whatnot because they're
- 18:14just trying to stop a... stop a play from happening.
- 18:18I don't want to see that. So at some point, the
- 18:22league is going to have to come in and the league
- 18:24is going to have to figure out a way to get rid
- 18:27of this tush push. Now, could there be a more
- 18:30safer option? Sure. Perfectly fine. But right
- 18:35now, the current version of the tush push is
- 18:37not healthy and it's not safe. Now, I probably
- 18:41sound like a parent, but who really cares at
- 18:44this point? Because When you look at the interviews
- 18:49from those Eagles offensive linemen, some of
- 18:52them say they don't get feeling back in their
- 18:55legs or their arms or their neck and whatnot
- 18:57for a few days. I'm sorry. If I'm the owner,
- 19:02if I'm anybody that is high up within the NFL,
- 19:06we have to come together and we have to ban this
- 19:09move. Because we just finished writing almost
- 19:13a billion dollar check for CTE. You're going
- 19:16to have to probably write another one for each
- 19:19and every player that tried to do something similar
- 19:21to the tush push. Do you really want that? Probably
- 19:24not. Now let's get into the divisional rodeo,
- 19:29folks. Man, we are just breezing by everything.
- 19:32This is probably going to be a very short episode.
- 19:35I'm just letting you guys know right now because
- 19:37there's really not a lot to talk about. Everybody's
- 19:39getting ready for the draft. It's really not
- 19:42a lot of stuff to talk about right now. Everybody's
- 19:45doing their 30 -day visits and finishing up on
- 19:48their big boards and all those different types
- 19:51of things. So it'll probably be a little bit
- 19:52of a quiet period. Most likely, I probably will
- 19:56not put out an episode next week, depending on
- 19:59if Aaron Rodgers wants to take his head out of
- 20:02his ass. you know actually decide to to make
- 20:05a decision and whatnot maybe i'll do episode
- 20:07but um but most likely i'll probably just be
- 20:10working on clips from all the you know other
- 20:13previous episodes of the divisional rodeo and
- 20:15whatnot and you know put those out for for you
- 20:18guys so let's just get into the divisional rodeo
- 20:21because we have a lot we have to talk about okay
- 20:23so afc north browns bangles ravens and steelers
- 20:27okay so let's start with the browns okay so their
- 20:30salary 19 .2 million with a rollover cap of 41
- 20:34.9 million. Their free agents, Jedrick Willis,
- 20:38Nick Harris, Nick Chubb, Elijah Moore, Naheem
- 20:41Hines, Jordan Atkins, Maurice Hurst, Michael
- 20:43Dunn, Ronnie McLeod, and Jermaine Effetti, just
- 20:46to name a few, okay? Now, when we look at their
- 20:48draft picks, okay, we all know they got their
- 20:50first, their second, they have two third round
- 20:52picks, they don't have a fifth, they have a fourth
- 20:55round pick, they have four sixth round picks,
- 20:58as well as one seventh round pick. So all in
- 21:02all, you have a lot of picks, which you're really
- 21:04going to need it because right now your team
- 21:07is in bad shape. Really bad shape. All right.
- 21:09And we look at positions of need. Quarterback,
- 21:12running back, tackle, defensive line. Let's be
- 21:15real here, folks. The Browns are in hell. The
- 21:19Browns are in hell. And they put themselves in
- 21:22this situation because they decided to double.
- 21:26Well, no, not double. They tripled down on trading
- 21:29for Deshaun Watson instead of trying to give
- 21:33Baker Mayfield a legitimate chance. Because let's
- 21:36be real here. During Baker Mayfield's time, there
- 21:40were a slew of head coaches, a slew of offensive
- 21:43coordinators, a slew of changes that were constantly
- 21:47happening almost every single offseason. So he
- 21:49never had stability. Now that he has stability,
- 21:53guess what? the Buccaneers see the best version
- 21:56of them and they're benefiting off of it. Meanwhile,
- 21:59you're in a situation where you done gave this
- 22:01Joker a fully guaranteed contract and now you're
- 22:05trying to figure out how in the world can we
- 22:07build this team while we're giving this fool
- 22:10all of this money. So now you have to figure
- 22:14out exactly, one, are we going to draft a quarterback?
- 22:18Two, what do we need to do to take us to the
- 22:22next level? And three, Do we have the resources
- 22:25right now if we don't trust any of these quarterbacks
- 22:29to make a trade for a veteran quarterback? Because
- 22:32right now, all you have is just Cam Ward and
- 22:35Shador Sanders. So right now, you have about
- 22:39three weeks to figure out if you're super high
- 22:41on both of those quarterbacks. And you have to
- 22:45figure out who are you going to get. So right
- 22:48now, you have a lot of tough decisions that you're
- 22:51going to have to make moving forward. You may
- 22:53not like them, but you're going to have to make
- 22:55them fairly soon. Even the Browns owner has come
- 22:59to the realization that he whiffed on Deshaun
- 23:01Watson. This is what he said at the owners meeting.
- 23:03And I quote, we took a big swing and miss with
- 23:06Deshaun. We thought we had the quarterback. We
- 23:09didn't. And we gave up a lot of draft picks to
- 23:11get him. So we've got to dig ourselves out of
- 23:14that hole. The trade was an entire organization
- 23:16decision. And it ends with D, his wife, and I,
- 23:20let's talk about himself, So hold us accountable,
- 23:23end quote. Yes, you must be held accountable
- 23:27for this move because this was the dumbest move
- 23:30any person could have made. But you know what?
- 23:32It is perfect because you know why? The Browns
- 23:36make some of the most dumbest moves when it comes
- 23:39to quarterback. I can't even tell you how many
- 23:43quarterbacks they have basically ran through
- 23:45within the past 15 years. But there is a theory
- 23:49that I do believe in. That I think it could happen.
- 23:53And Diana Rossini of The Athletic talked about
- 23:56it a little bit about a few days ago. And so
- 24:00basically, she has heard from the grapevine that
- 24:04there is somewhat of a connection between Kirk
- 24:07Cousins and the Browns. And what is that connection?
- 24:09Kevin Stefanski. Kevin Stefanski was the offensive
- 24:12coordinator for the Vikings when Kirk Cousins
- 24:15was there. So I think the both of them have a
- 24:18pretty good relationship. And I think Kevin Stefanski
- 24:21would be open to getting someone like a Kirk
- 24:24Cousins. Now, the problem is this. Kirk Cousins'
- 24:27contract is really bad. And so you're going to
- 24:30be having to figure out a way to make that contract
- 24:34work with the cap space and everything moving
- 24:37forward. But the thing that works in the Browns'
- 24:41favor if they were to make this move is this.
- 24:45Kirk Cousins has a no trade clause. So Kirk Cousins
- 24:48can dictate where he wants to go. He can literally
- 24:51force the Falcons to send him to the Browns.
- 24:55And not to mention, the Falcons can't ask for
- 24:59a first round pick. They can even ask for a second
- 25:01or a third round pick. At best, they could probably
- 25:04just ask for maybe a fourth round pick that could
- 25:07turn into a third round pick based off of certain
- 25:10criteria. At this point, if you are the Browns,
- 25:15you have to weigh out every single option. Now,
- 25:18I know today is the Colorado's pro day. It was
- 25:22originally supposed to be yesterday, but they
- 25:23had inclement weather, so they pushed it to today.
- 25:27So maybe they'll be super confident in Shador
- 25:30after his pro day. I don't know. But they have
- 25:33a lot of tough decisions that they're going to
- 25:35have to make. Now, running back, it's not that
- 25:37high of a priority. You can get that. Day two
- 25:40or day three, honestly. Tackle, I do feel like
- 25:44that is another priority of a need. I think outside
- 25:49of quarterback, that needs to be the second pick
- 25:52that needs to be made. Because right now, you
- 25:55have a question mark when it comes to left tackle.
- 25:59As well as right tackle as well. Wyatt Teller
- 26:02is getting up in age. And so right now, you may
- 26:05want to try to maybe get a... succession plan
- 26:08going for him. And so right now, you do have
- 26:13some options because I do believe there's going
- 26:15to be some pretty good tackles that will be available
- 26:17in the second, third, and fourth round. The question
- 26:21is, how high are you on them? Because you can
- 26:24get someone like a Charles Grant who has positional
- 26:26flexibility. You can get someone like a Josh
- 26:29Conley who he's better in pass protection than
- 26:32in run protection. You can go and get Donovan
- 26:34Jackson. You have options at tackle. but you
- 26:38are going to have to invest a high pick in getting
- 26:41one. Now, defensive line, you can double dip
- 26:43with that. I think if you get one maybe in the
- 26:47third and then maybe in the sixth or maybe fourth
- 26:50round, I think that that would be good because
- 26:52right now you need to bolster up that defense
- 26:55a little bit more because all you have is just
- 27:00Greg Newsome, Denzel Ward, and Myles Gary. You
- 27:04don't really have anybody else. So you need to
- 27:07start making significant draft changes right
- 27:11now. You have to start hitting on your draft
- 27:14picks. Now, luckily, you have a lot of draft
- 27:16picks this year. So you can address a lot of
- 27:19these needs. But at the same time, you need to
- 27:23choose quality over quantity. Don't get the person
- 27:28that went to Alabama. If there's somebody that
- 27:30you are really high on, just get them. Because
- 27:34right now, the Browns, how can I say this? The
- 27:37Browns are in such a bad situation that it's
- 27:40going to take them at least five years to really
- 27:41be competitive. Now, granted, Deshaun Watson's
- 27:45contract, if I'm not mistaken, ends in two years,
- 27:49which is great. But, I mean, you're still taking
- 27:54on a lot of money. I really don't know what to
- 27:59tell you, Browns fans. But when we look at candidates
- 28:02for restructure, extension, trades, and cuts,
- 28:04David Njoku is a question mark for an extension.
- 28:07And the only reason why I say that is because
- 28:10does David Njoku want to stay with the Browns?
- 28:13Does the Browns want to keep David Njoku? Because
- 28:17right now, if you trade away David Njoku, you
- 28:20could probably get some pretty high picks for
- 28:23him. Just saying. Same thing with... with Greg
- 28:27Newsome, trade or an extension. Because right
- 28:32now you have a lot of large contracts on your
- 28:35books. And so you're going to have to find a
- 28:38way to make everything fit with the cap restrictions
- 28:41that you have. Same thing with Wyatt Teller.
- 28:44Now, if you give Wyatt Teller an extension, his
- 28:47market value is three years, 23 .3 million, which
- 28:50is only 7 .8 million a year. That's not bad.
- 28:53That's actually pretty good. Deshaun Watson,
- 28:56restructure. You can continue to try to do a
- 29:00restructure, but at this point, I think it's
- 29:04just best that you just take it on. Take all
- 29:07of it all at once and then you'll be fine. That
- 29:12way you'll have a whole bunch of cap space to
- 29:15play with once his contract is over with and
- 29:17you don't have nothing to worry about compared
- 29:19to trying to push things down the road and kick
- 29:22the can down the road, all right? The main takeaway
- 29:25from the Browns is this. Rebuild. That's what
- 29:30you're going to have to do at this point. Because
- 29:33right now, you are in such of a fucked up situation.
- 29:38I mean exactly the way that I say it. That you
- 29:41are going to just have to let certain things
- 29:43just play out. You are literally going to have
- 29:46to let some contracts just expire. Just so you
- 29:50can one, clean up your books. Get rid of that
- 29:53toxic energy while at the same time, try to reshape
- 29:57this team. You've learned your lesson. You realize,
- 30:01hey, don't put all your eggs in the house, in
- 30:04the car, and everything else in one basket for
- 30:07one person. Don't do it because this is what
- 30:10happens. You don't get anything out of it. He's
- 30:13enjoying his life, enjoying the money that he's
- 30:16getting while you are trying to figure out what
- 30:19you're going to do moving forward with quarterback.
- 30:22But guess what? The Browns will be the Browns.
- 30:26Sorry, Browns fans. Now moving on to the Bengals,
- 30:29all right? So with their salary, $24 .4 million
- 30:32with a rollover cap of $5 .9 million. Their free
- 30:35agents, Mike Hilton, Joe Beshe, Von Bell, Tre
- 30:39'Veon Williams, Deontay Smith, Cade York, and
- 30:41Chris Evans, just to name a few, all right? Your
- 30:44draft picks. You got your first, your second,
- 30:46your third, your fourth, your fifth, and your
- 30:48sixth. You don't have a seventh round pick, all
- 30:50right? Positions of need, DB, both cornerback
- 30:54and safety, edge, D -tackle, linebacker, interior
- 30:58offensive line, all right? Here's the problem
- 31:01with the Bengals. You have put so much money
- 31:05into literally three people that now you're going
- 31:10to have to really start hitting on your draft
- 31:12picks. Beforehand, you really didn't have to
- 31:15as much, but now... You really have to start
- 31:19hitting on your draft picks, okay? You really
- 31:22have to start being consistent with great drafting.
- 31:26Because you done gave Jamar Chase a whole bunch
- 31:29of money. You done gave Tee Higgins a whole bunch
- 31:31of money. And you done gave Joe Burrow a whole
- 31:33bunch of money. Not to mention, you still have
- 31:36another side of the ball that is very, very deprived
- 31:40of talent. And so now you're in a situation where
- 31:44a lot of the things... That were somewhat hidden
- 31:48or not really talked about as much in the past
- 31:50are really starting to come to fruition, which
- 31:53is you guys are really cheap organization. You
- 31:57guys don't like paying your players. Why? I don't
- 32:01know. And so now you're at a crossroads where
- 32:04you're trying to figure out, hey, do we continue
- 32:08to be this cheap organization or do we somewhat?
- 32:13Step into the modern era and actually value our
- 32:16players and actually take care of our players.
- 32:18Because right now you're in a situation where
- 32:21Trey Hendrickson wants to play for the Bengals.
- 32:25He's literally said he does not want to reset
- 32:27the market, but he wants what's his. And for
- 32:31you guys to basically have the approach that
- 32:34you have had. shows me that you do not value
- 32:38your players. You do not value the hard work
- 32:41that they put in. You do not value the sacrifices
- 32:44that they put each and every single season and
- 32:48off season for this organization. And that to
- 32:51me is an atrocity. This is what a Bengals executive
- 32:56said about Trey Hendrickson in his trade talks.
- 33:00Miss Katie Blackburn. Okay, this is what she
- 33:03says. And I quote. I think he should be happy
- 33:06at certain rates that maybe he doesn't think
- 33:08he'd be happy at. I think some of it is on him
- 33:11to be happy at some point. And if he's not, you
- 33:14know, that's what it holds up sometimes. So,
- 33:18you know, it takes him to say yes to something.
- 33:20And also, we have all the respect in the world
- 33:23for him. Now, the quote that she just said definitely
- 33:26didn't make any sense. It sounded like she just
- 33:28had maybe about three or four mimosas, okay?
- 33:31That's why I had to stop and read it for a little
- 33:34bit because it really didn't make any sense.
- 33:36But her approach is the same approach that the
- 33:39owner and everybody else in the Bengals front
- 33:41office has when it comes to contracts and players.
- 33:45Literally, you could have had Jamar Chase and
- 33:48Tee Higgins for a discount last year. But instead,
- 33:53you took a risk and you say, you know what, we're
- 33:55not going to pay you. And in doing so. Jamar
- 33:59Chase wins the Triple Crown and you have to reset
- 34:01the market for him. And you may have to pay more
- 34:04for Tee Higgins. How does it feel, Bengals fans?
- 34:07How does it feel to root for an organization
- 34:10that continues to just give you the middle finger
- 34:15each and every offseason when it comes to paying
- 34:18their players? And so now you have to figure
- 34:22out, one, how can we somewhat be a little bit
- 34:26more competitive? And two, how in the world can
- 34:30we go back to the Super Bowl? Because right now,
- 34:33as long as you have Jamar Chase, Tee Higgins,
- 34:35and Joe Burrow, you do have somewhat of a small
- 34:38chance of making it back to the Super Bowl. But
- 34:41you have to build the rest of the team out. And
- 34:45you're going to have to do that through the draft.
- 34:47Because again, you put a lot of money behind
- 34:50Tee Higgins, Jamar Chase, and Joe Burrow. So...
- 34:54Let's get into the positions of need. So for
- 34:58DB, you can go about this a few different ways.
- 35:01You can go, you can draft a few, or you could
- 35:04pay Von Bell and then draft somebody else. But
- 35:08you're probably going to have to invest a high
- 35:10pick when it comes to both cornerback and safety.
- 35:14Now, luckily, the safety class is actually pretty
- 35:17good this year. So you could get a Malachi Starks.
- 35:21You could get a Nick Emanuara. You can get Andrew
- 35:24Makuba. You can get any of those type of safeties
- 35:27if you want to take that route. Now, if you want
- 35:29to take corner, right, you can get Will Johnson,
- 35:32Siobhan Revel, Benjamin Morrison, Azra Thomas,
- 35:35Trey Amos. You have options for both cornerback
- 35:39and safety. Now, edge, me personally, I'm not
- 35:43that very high on these edge rushers, personally.
- 35:46I just feel like for Edge, you could probably
- 35:50get one in maybe day two or day three, personally.
- 35:53I don't see a need to invest a first -round pick
- 35:56into any of these Edges. I feel like they are
- 35:58very unfinished products. I feel like just because
- 36:02they went to a certain school that it just gives
- 36:05them a bump in reputation and whatnot, and I
- 36:09feel like it's being... fueled by a lot of media
- 36:12personalities, and I'll just leave it there.
- 36:15Defensive tackle, you can address that at any
- 36:18point in this draft. You can address that in
- 36:21the first day, second day, third day, whenever.
- 36:24But you are going to have to make significant
- 36:25additions to this defensive line because outside
- 36:28of Trey Hendrickson, if he stays, all you have
- 36:31is B .J. Hill. That's not enough. You're going
- 36:34to need some more. Linebacker, you might as well
- 36:38just want to draft one. Because right now, Jermaine
- 36:42Pratt is probably not going to come back to the
- 36:44Bengals. And the other linebacker, who is somewhat
- 36:48of a dirty tackler, but that's another story
- 36:51for another day. That's all you have. You don't
- 36:53really have anything. The Bengals' defense is
- 36:55so bad that they're going to probably have to
- 36:59invest at least half of their draft picks to
- 37:02the defense alone. Interior offensive line, though.
- 37:07I feel like that could be a sneaky first round
- 37:09pick. And let me explain why. Gray Zabel. And
- 37:13I understand people are probably tired of me
- 37:15talking about Gray Zabel, but you have to hear
- 37:17me out. Gray Zabel, to me, has such a high potential
- 37:23that you have to get him. You have to make that
- 37:28move. Because he has positional flexibility like
- 37:33no other. He could probably be elite. at both
- 37:37guard and tackle. I'm talking about the best
- 37:41of the best. Or you can take the route and get
- 37:45Tyler Booker if you want to. But remember, during
- 37:48the combine, especially for the offensive lineman,
- 37:51both of these two were tried at center as well.
- 37:55So I think making that investment would also
- 37:58benefit Joe Burrow as well because you don't
- 38:01want Joe taking all these hits. So you're going
- 38:04to have to protect him. Sure, you have the weapons
- 38:07and you can get more weapons in the later parts
- 38:11of the draft, but you are going to have to protect
- 38:13him a little bit better. Now, when we look at
- 38:16candidates for restructure, extension, trades,
- 38:18and cuts, Trey Hendrickson, trade him. Trade
- 38:22him. You have shown an unwillingness to pay him.
- 38:27Trade him. When we look at his market value,
- 38:30it's two years, $62 .9 million, which is $31
- 38:33.5 million a year. Now, I think he could probably
- 38:35demand a little bit more, maybe about 34, maybe
- 38:3935, possibly, maybe even a little bit more. Jermaine
- 38:44Pratt, trade him. Trade him. You're not going
- 38:47to pay him. Trade him. Get rid of these guys.
- 38:50Cam Taylor Britt, you could give him an extension.
- 38:55And I only say that because his market value
- 38:58is fairly low, and I feel like he can't demand
- 39:00a whole bunch of money. Now, when we look at
- 39:03his market value, it's only four years, 59 .7
- 39:06million, which is only 14 .9 million a year.
- 39:09That's not bad. I think that's right around the
- 39:12ballpark that the Bengals will probably pay him.
- 39:15And so, all in all, just get rid of people that
- 39:19you are not willing to pay top dollar for. Even
- 39:22Trey Hendrickson had something to say about this
- 39:26on the Pat McAfee show. This is what he said,
- 39:28and I quote. Through this process, communication,
- 39:30when I say it's been poor, it's been like here
- 39:33and there. And respect to Jamar and T. I don't
- 39:36want to take anything from all the great things
- 39:38they've accomplished in their careers. They deserve
- 39:40everything that they've gotten, and no doubt
- 39:42in my mind they're going to excel in the National
- 39:44Football League. I have a tremendous respect
- 39:47for both of them. But when it comes to my situation,
- 39:50it would have been nice to know in some ways,
- 39:52hey, we're going to put you in the queue. No
- 39:55problem with me. End quote. He also said this
- 39:58as well, and I quote, We're on the DN, National
- 40:02Football League Street. The market value for
- 40:05that is going up like it did for wide receivers
- 40:07last year, which is true. Where I fit in that
- 40:11role is all up to the discretion. We're willing
- 40:14to talk about those things with the market continuing
- 40:17to go up. I'm not going to apologize for that
- 40:20because I've been basically asking for the same
- 40:22thing every year. to be solidified as a Cincinnati
- 40:26Bengal for life. End quote. That is somebody
- 40:30who is willing, willing to end his career with
- 40:36the Bengals. But the Bengals have their heads
- 40:39so far up their ass that they don't even realize
- 40:44that they have someone who is loyal to the team
- 40:47through and through. Trey Hendrickson. was a
- 40:51breath of fresh air when he signed with the Bengals.
- 40:55He has been killing it each and every season.
- 41:00And so why wouldn't you want to pay him? It'll
- 41:05be different if he said, hey, I'm trying to reset
- 41:07the market. It'll be different if he's trying
- 41:09to say, hey, I want something like Miles Garrett.
- 41:12But he's not. He's just trying to get what he's
- 41:16due. And the fact that you have basically put
- 41:19him on the back burner is so disrespectful. Because
- 41:24who else do you need to pay right now? Who else
- 41:26is a top priority? You already took care of the
- 41:29two most important people in Jamar Chase and
- 41:31T. Higgins. Who else do you need to take care
- 41:33of? What else do you need to do? So if you are
- 41:36not going to pay him, trade him. And please,
- 41:40for the love of God, stop having these high...
- 41:45expectations for a team to give you a first round
- 41:48pick for Trey Hendrickson. Stop. Just stop. Stop
- 41:53being just fools when it comes to the business
- 41:56side of the ball. Joe Burrow is trying his hardest
- 42:00to break you guys out of this mold that you guys
- 42:04have been in for the last 20 and 30 years. But
- 42:07you guys are so reluctant to do that, that guess
- 42:10what? That will be the reason why you will never
- 42:13go back to another Super Bowl because you guys
- 42:15are not willing to pay top dollar for the players
- 42:19that actually deserve it. Now, when we look at
- 42:22the Bengals in its entirety, let's just be real
- 42:26here. I think the head coach, I think his seat
- 42:30is getting a little bit warm because last season,
- 42:33it really wasn't that good. It was tough. Now,
- 42:37granted, They went on that run in the later part
- 42:40of the season, which was phenomenal, which me
- 42:43personally, I feel like they should have made
- 42:45it into the playoffs instead of the Steelers.
- 42:47Steeler fans, if you want to fight me, that's
- 42:49perfectly fine, but I said it and I'll stand
- 42:51on it. The Bengals should have made it to the
- 42:53playoffs instead of the Steelers because they
- 42:56won out. They won out against some very tough
- 43:00teams. They were able to do that. And so they
- 43:03should have made it to the playoffs. Unfortunately,
- 43:06they didn't, but right now they're at a crossroads.
- 43:10You can continue to stay in cheapness or you
- 43:16can step outside of the boat, step on land and
- 43:20say, hey, listen, we're going to change our ways.
- 43:24We're going to be a little bit more open and
- 43:27we're going to change things around for this
- 43:29organization. For the betterment of our players
- 43:32and for a better chance of possibly winning a
- 43:35championship. And I'll leave it there. Now on
- 43:38to the Ravens, okay? When we look at their salary,
- 43:41okay? $12 .2 million with a rollover cap of $2
- 43:44.1 million. Now when it comes to the free agents,
- 43:47Deontay Johnson, Marcus Williams, Tredavious
- 43:49White, Nelson Aguilar, Arthur Marlette, Josh
- 43:51Johnson, Brent Urban, Deontay Hardy, Trivion
- 43:54Mullen, Christian Matthews, excuse me, and Owen
- 43:58Wright. Let's get into these draft picks, okay?
- 44:02So you got your first, your second, your third.
- 44:04You have two fourth round picks. You have a fifth.
- 44:06You have four, okay? Four sixth round picks and
- 44:11one seventh round picks. Oh, you have a lot of
- 44:14picks. Okay, cool. Positions of need, guard,
- 44:17edge, safety, and receiver. Now receiver is a
- 44:20little bit controversial, but I'll explain it,
- 44:24okay? So all in all, You're still in your Super
- 44:28Bowl window. You're still in a really good spot.
- 44:30You don't have a lot of big needs that you need
- 44:32to fill, okay? I think personally, guard and
- 44:37edge are 1A and 1B when it comes to positions
- 44:41of need. And let me explain why. Guard, at this
- 44:46point, you need to make a significant draft pick
- 44:49for. Because Daniel Folele is ass. Daniel Folele
- 44:54is trash ass. Think of the most stinkiest trash
- 45:01can you could possibly find. I'm talking about
- 45:03a trash can that has been sitting out on a hot
- 45:08summer day. I'm talking about the hottest day
- 45:10you could possibly remember. And it just stinks.
- 45:14The minute you open the door, it just stinks.
- 45:18That's Daniel Fulele, folks. And it's no disrespect
- 45:22to him, but you have not been playing good, sir.
- 45:24So right now, you need to be put on the bench.
- 45:28You need to be put on ice at this point. Now,
- 45:32the problem with the Ravens is this. You are
- 45:35not in a position where you could possibly get
- 45:38a good interior offensive lineman in the first
- 45:41round if you want to take that route. Because
- 45:43right now, if they get Tyler Booker or if they
- 45:47get Gray Zabel, oh, it's over. It's curtains,
- 45:51especially Gray Zabel, because I think Gray Zabel
- 45:54to the Ravens would be such of a hit that they
- 45:59will have arguably one of the greatest offensive
- 46:01lines in NFL history. Not to mention the Ravens
- 46:04have a history of developing really great offensive
- 46:08linemen. And so I think that would be a great
- 46:10place for him. Now, Edge, I'm a little bit on
- 46:14the fence about, and I'll explain why. there's
- 46:18probably only one edge rusher in the first round
- 46:21that I probably would be head over heels for,
- 46:22and that's Mike Green. Outside of that, I can
- 46:25probably talk myself out of everybody else, and
- 46:28it's no disrespect to any of them, but there's
- 46:31not like a TJ Watt in this draft class. There's
- 46:33not like a, what's a good pass rusher? What's
- 46:37a really good pass rusher? There's not like a
- 46:39pass rusher that just everyone just wants. This
- 46:44is a draft class when it comes to pass rushers
- 46:46where, Sure, there may be a few that may interest
- 46:50you. Sure, their skill set would probably be
- 46:53an upgrade for your team, but it's a whole lot
- 46:57of what ifs, not a lot of certainties when it
- 47:02comes to these edge rushers. And I feel like
- 47:05Mike Green, from a skill set standpoint, has
- 47:09a lot of upside to his game. I feel like, and
- 47:13this is just me personally, this is the account
- 47:14that I have for Mike Green. I think his comp
- 47:16is T .J. Watt. I think Mike Green, if put in
- 47:20the right situation, he could be a poor man's
- 47:24version of T .J. Watt. I really do. I think everybody
- 47:29else, it's a shot in the dark, just being honest
- 47:32here. Now, safety could be a sleeper of a first
- 47:37-round pick, and let me explain why. With the
- 47:41uncertainty of our Darius Washington possibly...
- 47:45you know, re -signing with the team and Marcus
- 47:49Williams not coming back to the team at all,
- 47:51I feel like drafting a safety in the first round
- 47:54could be a possible hit. Now, again, the problem
- 47:58with that move is you are so low in the draft
- 48:02that guess what? You probably won't be able to
- 48:05get any of the top safeties. That's the only
- 48:09problem in every other position of need that
- 48:12they have right now. is that they're too low
- 48:15in the draft for them to get any of the top players
- 48:18within those positions. And so, most likely,
- 48:21you're going to have to trade up. Now, luckily,
- 48:24this is just my prediction, personally, I think
- 48:28a lot of teams are going to trade down or possibly
- 48:30trade out of the first round. Because again,
- 48:32as I've said before, and a lot of people have
- 48:34also said as well, this is not a really good
- 48:37draft class. This is not a draft class where...
- 48:40It's a bunch of oohs and ahs and oh man, I want
- 48:43that person or oh man, I want that person. I
- 48:45want that person. I want that person. It's not
- 48:47a lot of those type of players in this draft
- 48:49class. It's a lot of developmental players in
- 48:54this draft class. It's a lot of players that
- 48:56it's going to take you about two, maybe three,
- 48:58maybe four years to really see what you have
- 49:00in these players. So me personally, if I am the
- 49:06Ravens, you can go about safety a few different
- 49:09ways. You could address it in the first round,
- 49:12which means you're going to have to trade up,
- 49:13possibly maybe in the teens, or you could take
- 49:18a risk and maybe see who falls out the first
- 49:20round and then go on attack mode in the second
- 49:24round. Because I think someone like Xavier Watts,
- 49:27man, let me tell you something. Xavier Watts
- 49:34paired up with Kyle Hamilton, even though they
- 49:36were college teammates. The brothers of destruction.
- 49:42The brothers of destruction. OK, that's like
- 49:47putting prime Troy Polamalu and prime Ed Reed
- 49:52on one team. Mook, I promise you. We're not having
- 49:57those conversations. I can assure you we will
- 50:01not be having those conversations if this does
- 50:03happen. OK. For all of those who don't know who
- 50:08Mook is, Mook is a really good friend of mine
- 50:10who's a Ravens fan. So, yeah, we'll just leave
- 50:13it there, okay? Maybe one day he'll make a guest
- 50:16appearance or whatnot. But the fact of the matter
- 50:18is this. You could probably get Nick Emin -Warren,
- 50:22but the only problem is it's going to take him
- 50:26a while to be properly developed. You could get
- 50:28someone like Malachi Starks, who is probably
- 50:30the most balanced safety prospect out of all
- 50:33of them. Now, I have been able to review some
- 50:36of the All -22 from Malachi Starks, and I can
- 50:40tell you this. He's good. He's a really good
- 50:44safety. The only knock that I find in his game
- 50:48is he's not a willing tackler. He's not the best
- 50:50when it comes to his tackling technique. I think
- 50:54that is probably the only thing that would hinder
- 50:57him from possibly being drafted super high. Me
- 51:00personally, and this is just my personal opinions,
- 51:02and I will continue to say this and stand on
- 51:04this. I feel like to me, Malachi Starks is more
- 51:07of an NFC type of safety. And I feel like Nick
- 51:12Emanwari and Xavier Watts are more AFC type of
- 51:16safeties. And let me explain why. A lot of AFC
- 51:20teams, they require their DBs, both cornerbacks
- 51:24and safeties, to be at least of a decent tackler.
- 51:29NFC teams, on the other hand, not so much. And
- 51:32we all know that the AFC is more physical than
- 51:35the NFC. And so I feel like Malachi Starks' game
- 51:39would thrive on a team like, I don't know, the
- 51:44Eagles or the Seahawks or 49ers or any of those
- 51:50teams. Compared to if you went to the Steelers
- 51:53or the Chiefs or the Jaguars or the Colts or
- 51:57the Texans or... any of those different types
- 51:59of teams. But back to the situation at hand.
- 52:04If you are the Ravens, you don't have a lot of
- 52:07tough decisions that you have to make, but at
- 52:09the same time, do you really need to use all
- 52:12of your draft picks? No. I think if you trade
- 52:16it up in the high teens, maybe like the 12th
- 52:20or the 13th pick to get whoever you want, okay,
- 52:23that's perfectly fine. No one's really complaining
- 52:25about it. but you don't really need a whole lot
- 52:28of players anyway. Because why? Your team is
- 52:31mainly set right now. You just have to add and
- 52:34just upgrade a few different spots. Even with
- 52:37receiver, like I put it on here, but then I wanted
- 52:40to take it off. I don't feel like receiver is
- 52:43a high need because you have Dehop, Rashad Bateman,
- 52:47Zay Flowers, Tez Walker, and I think you have
- 52:50one more person. And even then, if you really
- 52:54want to get a receiver, You could get a receiver
- 52:56in the fourth round, fourth or fifth round, honestly.
- 52:58Take a swing at somebody. But you have to start
- 53:02giving people like Tez Walker a chance because
- 53:05Tez Walker has the upside to be a really good
- 53:09receiver. He's got the size. He got the speed.
- 53:11He got the build. He has it all. He just has
- 53:14to get more reps and more playing time. That's
- 53:17it. End of discussion. Now, when we look at candidates
- 53:20for restructure, extension, trades, and cuts,
- 53:23Trey White, extension. He's probably cornerback
- 53:27four, cornerback five at this point. One year,
- 53:30$1 .3 million, which is only $1 .4 million a
- 53:33year. Light work. Lamar Jackson, extension. You're
- 53:37going to have to do it soon. Derrick Henry, extension.
- 53:41His market value is two years, $27 .5 million,
- 53:44which is $13 .8 million. Now, for some Ravens
- 53:47fans, you're probably thinking, hey, that's a
- 53:48lot of money. Well, guess what? Derrick Henry
- 53:51was doing his thing late last season. Derrick
- 53:55Henry is the reason why the Steelers this year
- 53:57are going to have to draft at least probably
- 53:59two defensive linemen. End of discussion. Kyle
- 54:02Hamilton, extension, market value, three years,
- 54:05$60 .8 million, which is $20 .3 million a year.
- 54:08You are going to reset the market for Kyle Hamilton.
- 54:11You are probably going to reset the market for
- 54:14Tyler Linderbaum as well because those two, those
- 54:18are Ravens for life type of players. Those are
- 54:21players that will end their career with the Ravens.
- 54:24Those are the type of players that you will find
- 54:26every way to never let them hit free agency.
- 54:30Don't even whiff with free agency. Now we look
- 54:35at Tyrell Linderbaum's market value. Three years,
- 54:37$48 .2 million, which is $16 .1 million a year.
- 54:41That's not really bad, honestly. Now when we
- 54:44look at somewhat of a breakdown with Lamar Jackson's
- 54:47contract, okay? His cap hit this year is $43
- 54:50.6 million, and then next year it's $74 .6, and
- 54:54then the year after that it's $74 .6. So you
- 54:57probably want to bring down those cap hits just
- 54:59a little bit, while at the same time giving Lamar
- 55:03a little bit more money. Now, when we look at
- 55:05Roquan Smith, because I had him for restructure,
- 55:10but then I had to look at his contract, and looking
- 55:13at his contract, it's really not that bad. Sure,
- 55:16you could probably bring down the cap hits just
- 55:19a little bit, just to create a little bit more
- 55:21cap space. But all in all, I think the Ravens
- 55:24are in a pretty good spot. But time is ticking
- 55:26for them, okay? This is what Steve Bishotti said
- 55:31on the State of the Ravens right now, and I quote,
- 55:33I want to win now, end quote. That's one, okay?
- 55:38This is what else he says, and I quote, we've
- 55:42got a window with Lamar. I know what we can do.
- 55:45I know that we work to put ourselves in position
- 55:47to win. We all get credit for that. That's all
- 55:50you can do. I hate it that every year you just
- 55:53have to start back over again. But you know what?
- 55:55This is not for the meek, end quote. So Steve
- 55:59Busciotti, Ravens owner, is letting everybody
- 56:02know, like, listen, we have the team to win.
- 56:06As long as we have Lamar Jackson, we'll always
- 56:08have a chance to win. We'll always have a chance
- 56:11to possibly win a Super Bowl. which he's not
- 56:13lying. That is the truth. But time is running
- 56:17out. You have to win a Super Bowl to justify
- 56:22every single move that you have made so far,
- 56:25from the trade for Roquan Smith to the drafting
- 56:29of Tyler Linderbaum, Kyle Hamilton, and Rashad
- 56:32Bateman and Zay Flowers and giving Lamar the
- 56:36extension that they gave him and then making
- 56:38the move for Derrick Henry and all those different
- 56:41things. You have to be able to justify all those
- 56:44moves by winning a Super Bowl. Now, granted,
- 56:46I understand. It's tough to do that when you
- 56:48got, you know, Mahomes and Burrow and Josh Allen
- 56:51all in your own conference and Justin Herbert
- 56:54and whatnot. I get that. But every single year,
- 56:58you guys are super dominant in the regular season.
- 57:01But when it gets to the playoffs, you guys freeze.
- 57:04You guys are choking on Popeye's biscuits. Cold
- 57:07Popeye's biscuits, to be specific. And so now
- 57:11you have to find a way to get over that hump.
- 57:14You have to be able to make it to the big dance.
- 57:17That's the only way that you can really say,
- 57:21hey, it was all worth it. Every move, every cut,
- 57:25every signing, every trade, every draft pick,
- 57:28all of it was worth it by holding up Lombardi.
- 57:31Now, granted, respect to John Harbaugh for doing
- 57:35what he did to his coaching staff this offseason.
- 57:39It takes balls to make the move that he made.
- 57:43He called Chuck Pagano and got him to come out
- 57:47of retirement to join his coaching staff. I don't
- 57:50know if people understand Chuck Pagano. Chuck
- 57:54Pagano is probably one of the best when it comes
- 57:58to the secondary. So he is going to bring the
- 58:02best out of Kyle Hamilton. He's going to bring
- 58:05the best out of Nate Wiggins, out of TJ Tampa.
- 58:08out of all of those guys. He's going to bring
- 58:11the best out of them. And then not to mention,
- 58:14he made other additional moves when it came to
- 58:18his coaching staff. He brought in Chuck Smith.
- 58:20He brought back Dean Pease. So you see that there
- 58:25is a head coach that says, listen, my view is
- 58:28different. So maybe if I bring in somebody, maybe
- 58:31they can tell me something that I'm not doing,
- 58:34that I can fix. That can take us to the next
- 58:36level. That takes balls to do it. And John Harbaugh
- 58:39did that. And I can respect him for it. So when
- 58:44we look at, you know, everything in its entirety,
- 58:47the Ravens are in a good space. It's just right
- 58:51now you just have to win. That's it. You have
- 58:54to win. Do what you need to do to position yourself
- 58:58to win. If you do that, you'll be able to be
- 59:02a champion. That's it. Now on to the final team
- 59:07of the divisional rodeo, folks, and that is the
- 59:11Steelers. So your salary, $34 .6 million with
- 59:15a rollover cap of $6 .8 million. Your free agents,
- 59:18Preston Smith, CJ Henderson, Demonte KZ, McColl
- 59:21Pruitt, Tyler Maticiewicz, Cam Sutton, Max Sharping,
- 59:25and Calvin Anderson, just to name a few, all
- 59:28right? Your draft picks, you got your first,
- 59:30you don't have a second because you used that
- 59:31to get DK Metcalf. You have your third, your
- 59:34fourth, your fifth, you don't have a sixth, and
- 59:36you have two seventh round picks. Your positions
- 59:38of need, quarterback, corner, defensive line,
- 59:40and running back. You could probably put wide
- 59:45receiver in there too. Maybe. So here's the problem
- 59:50with the Steelers. You are waiting for a 42 -year
- 59:56-old quarterback to make a decision on if he
- 59:59wants to play or not. And I'm probably going
- 1:00:03to go on a rant, probably for the rest of this
- 1:00:07episode, but I think it's very much needed at
- 1:00:10this point. And I feel like I am in a position
- 1:00:12where I can say what I'm about to say. To hell
- 1:00:16with Aaron Rodgers. To hell with Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:00:21You guys are waiting for somebody to make his
- 1:00:26decision. He is dragging his feet on figuring
- 1:00:31out if he wants to play or not. To me, this shows
- 1:00:34to me, and I can be 100 % wrong, that he does
- 1:00:39not want to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 1:00:42He is waiting for a better opportunity to arise
- 1:00:45so that he could go to that specific place. I
- 1:00:50think he's waiting to see what the Vikings are
- 1:00:52going to do. I don't think the Steelers was his
- 1:00:55top choice. I think we were probably his last
- 1:00:58choice if we're being real here. And I can understand
- 1:01:00why because the Vikings are in a better place
- 1:01:02from a roster standpoint. They have the weapons.
- 1:01:05They have the defense. They have it all. They
- 1:01:07are closer to being a Super Bowl contender than
- 1:01:11what the Steelers are. I understand all of that.
- 1:01:13But why in the world would you go out your way
- 1:01:18to meet up with DK Metcalf, the arguably number
- 1:01:21one receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers? You
- 1:01:25met up with him. You had a professional videographer
- 1:01:30and photographer to come in and take pictures
- 1:01:35and video. Of you guys practicing. Why would
- 1:01:41you do that? Think about that for a second here,
- 1:01:45folks. Why in the world would Aaron Rodgers want
- 1:01:50to do that? Because you know why? It's all about
- 1:01:53him. It's all about him. It's all about Aaron
- 1:01:57Rodgers. It's always been about Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:02:00This is just me personally. If Aaron Rodgers
- 1:02:03is going to make his announcement next week when
- 1:02:06Pat McAfee's show has this big show in Pittsburgh,
- 1:02:09kiss my ass. Kiss my ass. Because you know why?
- 1:02:13You are showing that you are not committed enough
- 1:02:17to be my quarterback. You are showing to me that
- 1:02:22you are not willing to just sign the contract.
- 1:02:25Sign the damn contract. What is taking so damn
- 1:02:29long for you to figure out if you want to play
- 1:02:31football or not? If you don't want to play for
- 1:02:34the Steelers, just say that. Just say that. I
- 1:02:37would be so much better if we just said, you
- 1:02:42know what, we'll just roll with Mason Rudolph.
- 1:02:44We'll bring in possibly Joe Flacco or Carson
- 1:02:47Wentz or any of those other remaining veteran
- 1:02:50quarterbacks and then draft Riley Leonard or...
- 1:02:54Will Howard or Jalen Milrow or any of those guys
- 1:02:59compared to waiting for a 42 -year -old to figure
- 1:03:02out exactly what the hell does he want to do
- 1:03:05with himself. He's been dragging his feet this
- 1:03:08entire time. And I understand that the season
- 1:03:11is grueling and I understand that you want time
- 1:03:13for yourself. I understand that you want time
- 1:03:15to just breathe a little bit. Enjoy life. Enjoy
- 1:03:18the fruits of your labor. I have no problem with
- 1:03:20that. But we are three weeks away from the draft.
- 1:03:23And this fool, and I mean fool, has not come
- 1:03:28to a decision yet on if he wants to play for
- 1:03:31the Pittsburgh Steelers. The Steelers are not
- 1:03:32going to give him more money. The Steelers are
- 1:03:34not going to up the ante to force him to come
- 1:03:37and sign the contract. If he does not want to
- 1:03:40come and sign this contract, let it go. Let it
- 1:03:43go. Art Rooney said it best. Art Rooney is getting
- 1:03:47ticked off. There are probably people within
- 1:03:50the organization that are getting very tired
- 1:03:53of just waiting for Aaron Rodgers. Roll with
- 1:03:58Mason Rudolph. You're not going to win a whole
- 1:04:01bunch of games this season. You are not going
- 1:04:03to go anywhere. That's not the goal. The goal
- 1:04:05is to position yourself for next year to make
- 1:04:08a big swing and to get your quarterback. That's
- 1:04:12what it is. So stop waiting for somebody that's
- 1:04:15not committed. He hasn't been committed because
- 1:04:18I guarantee you right now, the moment that you
- 1:04:21sign him, and I said this a few episodes ago,
- 1:04:24the moment that you sign him, everything that
- 1:04:29you guys do will be documented and exposed. So
- 1:04:33if you have a problem with Aaron Rodgers, guess
- 1:04:36what? Most likely he's going to talk about it
- 1:04:37on what? The Pat McAfee Show. Do you really want
- 1:04:42that? No. No. Well, you know what? I really don't
- 1:04:46understand. What I don't understand for the life
- 1:04:49of me is you have Mike Tomlin that is playing
- 1:04:53the favorites game when it comes to Aaron Rodgers.
- 1:04:56When he should have said, you know what, we do
- 1:04:58have a deadline for Aaron Rodgers. And if he
- 1:05:01does not, you know, if we don't have a decision
- 1:05:03by then, then we will go in a different direction
- 1:05:08and we'll, you know, we'll make some additions.
- 1:05:11Omar Khan said that he wanted to have four quarterbacks
- 1:05:13on the roster. Omar Khan is going to make that
- 1:05:17move with or without Aaron Rodgers. I'll put
- 1:05:22a bookmark for that because we have more stuff
- 1:05:24that we have to talk about. Corner. I put corner
- 1:05:26on here because right now you don't have a succession
- 1:05:32plan after Darius Slay. All you have is Joey
- 1:05:37Porter Jr., Beanie Bishop. and Brandon Echols,
- 1:05:41and Corey Trice as well. But the problem with
- 1:05:45Corey Trice is what? He hasn't been able to stay
- 1:05:48healthy. If Corey Trice stayed healthy, I feel
- 1:05:52like the need for corner would be diminished.
- 1:05:56But because he has not been able to stay healthy
- 1:06:00since being drafted, you have to now shoot that
- 1:06:04up to a top priority at this point. Because right
- 1:06:08now, You do not have a quarterback one on your
- 1:06:10team. Now, can Joey Porter Jr. turn into a quarterback
- 1:06:14one? Possibly. There's a chance. But at this
- 1:06:19point, he is not quarterback one. And I don't
- 1:06:22think Darius Slay is going to be playing for
- 1:06:23a whole lot longer. I just don't, personally.
- 1:06:26I think this is probably going to be his last
- 1:06:28year, and then he's going to retire. Defensive
- 1:06:30line. You are going to have to double dip at
- 1:06:32defensive line. Outside of Cam Hayward and Keanu
- 1:06:36Benton, Who else do you have that you can say
- 1:06:39is really productive? Montrevious Adams? He can
- 1:06:43be a hit or miss sometimes. Isaiah Loudermilk?
- 1:06:45He is just a death piece. Who else do you have
- 1:06:49on this defensive line that you can rely on?
- 1:06:52Nobody. So most likely, your first pick will
- 1:06:55probably be a defensive lineman. And your probably
- 1:07:00third or maybe fourth round pick will probably
- 1:07:02be a defensive lineman as well. But you are going
- 1:07:04to have to make a significant... investment into
- 1:07:07the defensive line because you have neglected
- 1:07:09it for so long. That is the only way that you
- 1:07:14can really get the best out of Cam Hayward and
- 1:07:16Keanu Benton and TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith and
- 1:07:19Nick Herbig and all those other guys. Now, running
- 1:07:23back, you can address that later, honestly speaking,
- 1:07:27but I wouldn't be surprised if they address it
- 1:07:30high. Because there's so many really good running
- 1:07:34backs that they could get that I think would
- 1:07:35match the system that they have currently. I
- 1:07:39think getting someone like Barshall Toohan or
- 1:07:44Damian Martinez or Caleb Johnson or Dylan Sampson
- 1:07:50or Omarion Hampton, any of those running backs
- 1:07:54would be great for the Steelers. Another position
- 1:07:58that needs to be talked about is safety. Because
- 1:08:01we have seen their level of interest in safety.
- 1:08:04They have talked to, I think, just about every
- 1:08:07single top safety. From Malachi Starks to Nicky
- 1:08:10Manwari to Xavier Watts, Jalen Reed. They've
- 1:08:15talked to a lot of safeties. I'm just saying.
- 1:08:18I'm going to save that for that part. But I want
- 1:08:22you guys to keep a close eye on that. When we
- 1:08:25look at candidates for restructure extension,
- 1:08:27trades and cuts, TJ Watt extension, we all know
- 1:08:29he's going to be a stealer for life at this point.
- 1:08:31Market value, four years, 128 .9 million, which
- 1:08:35is 32 .2 million a year. I think it may be a
- 1:08:37little bit more debatable. Deshaun Elliott extension,
- 1:08:41because right now this is probably the best that
- 1:08:43he has played out of his entire career. And so
- 1:08:47you have to reward him for that. Three years,
- 1:08:4921 .2 million, which is only 7 .1 million a year.
- 1:08:52That's not bad at all, personally. George Pickens,
- 1:08:55trade. Either trade or extension. Because right
- 1:09:01now, you're not about to pay DK Metcalf and George
- 1:09:05Pickens top receiver money. You're just not going
- 1:09:07to do that. And even when you look at his market
- 1:09:09value, it's four years, $94 .2 million, which
- 1:09:12is $23 .6 million a year. Here's the problem
- 1:09:14with George Pickens. And I'm just going to be
- 1:09:17completely honest here. George Pickens has the
- 1:09:20talent to be a top five receiver. but he has
- 1:09:24the attitude of an adolescent. I'm just going
- 1:09:27to be completely honest here. He is somebody
- 1:09:30who has all this potential in the world, but
- 1:09:33his attitude is so ass that teams, even the Steelers,
- 1:09:39are just fed up with him. When you have somebody
- 1:09:42that is not committed to the game like how he's
- 1:09:45supposed to be, teams are not going to want to
- 1:09:47invest into you. They're not going to want to
- 1:09:48do long -term business with you. You have somebody
- 1:09:52in George Pickens who showed up to the Chiefs
- 1:09:54game during Christmas late. You have somebody
- 1:09:58that will take off on plays, will crash out on
- 1:10:01the field, will have temper tantrums when he
- 1:10:04does not get the ball. This is literally somebody
- 1:10:07who got checked by Jalen Warren because he did
- 1:10:11not block for Jalen Warren. Think about that.
- 1:10:15Do you think any team Any of the 31 other teams
- 1:10:19will be willing to give George Pickens a whole
- 1:10:21bunch of money? No, because guess what? Sure,
- 1:10:24your talent may be great, but best believe there
- 1:10:28is somebody in the next draft, free agency, trade,
- 1:10:32whatever, that could probably do the same thing
- 1:10:34that you're doing or maybe even a little bit
- 1:10:36better. The world does not revolve around George
- 1:10:40Pickens. And I think the Steelers are starting
- 1:10:42to come around and starting to realize that.
- 1:10:45And so if I'm the Steelers, trade him. Because
- 1:10:49you already know there is a good chance that
- 1:10:52leading into training camp, this is going to
- 1:10:54get messy. This is going to turn into a drama
- 1:10:57-filled situation. Do you really want that? No.
- 1:11:02Trade him off. Get a second round pick for him.
- 1:11:05Move forward. Kyler Austin, I had him listed
- 1:11:09for an extension, but with a question mark. And
- 1:11:11let me explain why. I think giving Calvin Austin
- 1:11:14an extension probably wouldn't break the bank.
- 1:11:16I don't think it would be something where it's
- 1:11:18like, you know, super expensive, like 25 or 26
- 1:11:21or like 30 million a year, no. But I think it
- 1:11:23probably would be a team -friendly deal. I think
- 1:11:26Calvin Austin would probably do something like
- 1:11:27that. Mika Fitzpatrick, restructure. When we
- 1:11:30look at his contract right now, here's what it
- 1:11:34is. His base salary this year, 15 .5, and then
- 1:11:38next year, 17 .6. But his cap hits, okay? His
- 1:11:42cap hits is $22 .3 million, and then next year
- 1:11:47is $24 .4 million. I'm sorry, folks, but his
- 1:11:51play has not justified neither base salary or
- 1:11:55cap hits at this point. Minka Fitzpatrick has
- 1:11:58not been the same. Now, I understand there was
- 1:12:00a year where he was hurt, and there was another
- 1:12:03year where he really wasn't playing in his position.
- 1:12:05I understand all of that, but brother, you got
- 1:12:09to start playing. You got to start making some
- 1:12:12plays, bro. Because right now, the Steelers are
- 1:12:16showing you that they may be looking for your
- 1:12:19replacement. They've looked at every single top
- 1:12:23safety. Xavier Watts, Malachi Starks, Emmitt
- 1:12:27Worry, Andrew Makuba. They've looked at them
- 1:12:30all. So if I'm Minka Fitzpatrick, I may want
- 1:12:35to play with a little bit of... I may want to
- 1:12:39play like a chicken with his head cut off this
- 1:12:42season. Because right now, there is nothing that
- 1:12:46you have done within the last two years to say,
- 1:12:48hey, we should keep him. Hey, maybe if we just
- 1:12:53restructure his deal or maybe if we do this or
- 1:12:56do that, maybe everything will be fine. No. Because
- 1:13:00since you've gotten this deal, you have not been
- 1:13:03the same player. And mind you, when we traded
- 1:13:06for him. Those first two years, dominant. One
- 1:13:09of the best safeties in the league. Now, what
- 1:13:12has he done? You tell me. Because he hasn't done
- 1:13:16anything. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Nothing. But
- 1:13:21when we look at the Steelers in its entirety,
- 1:13:23I think the best thing that has happened so far
- 1:13:27was the cleaning of their books. I think we have
- 1:13:31hit a point where we have had so much... flexibility
- 1:13:36when it came to the cap. We don't even know what
- 1:13:39to do with it. Because remember, all those years
- 1:13:41when we had the killer bees, what was the number
- 1:13:43one problem that we had? You couldn't do anything
- 1:13:47because why? You had no cap space because he
- 1:13:50was paying AB and he was paying Big Ben and he
- 1:13:53was paying Pouncey and Castro and Foster and
- 1:13:57Alejandro Villanueva and this person and that
- 1:14:01person. You're paying all these people. But now
- 1:14:04you have a little bit of flexibility, which is
- 1:14:06great. And I love that. I love that Omar Khan
- 1:14:08is aggressive and wanting to make change and
- 1:14:12not satisfied with just enough. I love all of
- 1:14:16that. But here's my problem with this team. The
- 1:14:22lack of hitting on their draft picks, especially
- 1:14:25their first round draft picks. Towards the end
- 1:14:29of Kevin Colbert's tenure, there was a phase.
- 1:14:33where we were not hitting on our first -round
- 1:14:35picks. And it pushed the team back so much that
- 1:14:39now, in some ways, they're trying to get out
- 1:14:43of that hole. Because remember, we went through
- 1:14:45a phase where, guess what? You had Terrell Edmonds,
- 1:14:49Buss. You had Kenny Pickett. Better yet, I'll
- 1:14:53save the Kenny Pickett and Najee Harris thing.
- 1:14:55I'll save that for a moment. I'll put that on
- 1:14:57the back burner. Devin Bush, that was a miss.
- 1:15:01You traded your first round pick for Mika Fitzpatrick,
- 1:15:03which even looking back at it, I still feel like
- 1:15:08that was a bad move. And I only say that because
- 1:15:11he wasn't worth a first round pick because they
- 1:15:15had him at corner. They didn't even have him
- 1:15:18in his natural position. He wasn't even having
- 1:15:20a phenomenal season. But I understand that you
- 1:15:23want to give him the first round pick so you
- 1:15:25can seal the deal. So it is what it is. You know,
- 1:15:30since then, you haven't had any of your first
- 1:15:34round picks to stay with the team. The last first
- 1:15:36rounder to get to a second contract with the
- 1:15:40Steelers is TJ Watt. And that was 2017, 2017,
- 1:15:462018, if I'm not mistaken. So from that point
- 1:15:49on until now, you have had a slew of first rounders
- 1:15:55that have not gotten to their second contract.
- 1:15:59I'm sorry. That's horrible. That's absolutely
- 1:16:02horrible. And let's be real here with the Kenny
- 1:16:05Pickett situation. Sure, Kenny Pickett probably
- 1:16:09could have played better. But the Steelers did
- 1:16:11not put him in a position to win. Because you
- 1:16:16decided to keep Matt Canada for an extra year
- 1:16:20instead of getting rid of him. What made you
- 1:16:23think keeping Matt Canada for another year would
- 1:16:26have changed the outcome? He was asked. Everybody
- 1:16:29knew that he was asked. But you decided to keep
- 1:16:34him. And in doing so, it messed up Kenny Pickett.
- 1:16:39And so now, you're in a situation where now,
- 1:16:43once again, you're in an offseason where you're
- 1:16:46trying to figure out who your quarterback is
- 1:16:47going to be. And even then, while we're talking
- 1:16:51about quarterback, okay, because I want to reopen
- 1:16:54this, you know. We probably could have had Justin
- 1:16:58Fields had we done right by him. I think the
- 1:17:02reason why we did not get Justin Fields was not
- 1:17:06because of the money. I think it was because
- 1:17:09of how they handled his situation. You gave a
- 1:17:13longer leash to Russell Wilson, but you did not
- 1:17:17do the same for Justin Fields. From the moment
- 1:17:21that Justin Fields was traded to the Steelers,
- 1:17:23what was the number one thing that Mike Tomlin
- 1:17:26continued to say? Russell Wilson has pole position.
- 1:17:29So the moment that that happened, Justin Fields
- 1:17:34was never going to be the solution. Justin Fields
- 1:17:37was never going to be given a fair chance. Justin
- 1:17:40Fields lucked up that Russell Wilson decided
- 1:17:44to push a sled and mess up his hamstring. That's
- 1:17:48what it boils down to, folks. But if Mike Tomlin
- 1:17:52was actually a fair coach and say, hey, listen,
- 1:17:56Justin Fields, you're going to have the first
- 1:17:58half of the season. Russell Wilson, you're going
- 1:18:01to have the second half of the season. And then
- 1:18:03we will come to a decision once the offseason
- 1:18:06is over with. Instead of saying, OK, we're going
- 1:18:08to pull Justin Fields after six games. Even with
- 1:18:11Najee Harris, a lot of people were upset with
- 1:18:14what he had to say. But you know what? It was
- 1:18:16the truth. This is what he said, and I quote,
- 1:18:18My time in Pittsburgh, it was a lot of learning
- 1:18:21things. It was a lot of learning experiences.
- 1:18:24Playing for Mike T, playing in that division,
- 1:18:26there were a lot of ways I didn't even realize
- 1:18:28what the NFL was really about until I came to
- 1:18:30Pittsburgh. I don't want to go into detail with
- 1:18:33it, but I feel there was a lot of stuff in my
- 1:18:35game where I could have elevated more and I could
- 1:18:38have did more. I feel like I just didn't get
- 1:18:40it done. I feel like I was obviously missing
- 1:18:43something. It was interesting years there. I'll
- 1:18:47just say that. Interesting years, end quote.
- 1:18:50He's right. He's 100 % right. The Steelers decided
- 1:18:54to draft a running back before addressing the
- 1:18:57offensive line. What makes you think any running
- 1:19:00back can run behind an offensive line that has
- 1:19:02Kendrick Green, old -ass Trey Turner, Kevin Dotson,
- 1:19:08Dan Moore, and Chuk Sikor for? What makes you
- 1:19:11think any running back can be productive behind
- 1:19:14that? Nobody can. And it took you a few years
- 1:19:19to finally realize, hey, we need to adjust the
- 1:19:22offensive line. And even then, guess what? It's
- 1:19:25still not enough. The offense still is not good
- 1:19:29enough. So why in the world would you put the
- 1:19:33cart before the horse? But this in some ways
- 1:19:36goes back to a lot of people that deserves blame.
- 1:19:41Art Rennie deserves some blame because you know
- 1:19:43why? You can't say in an offseason we want to
- 1:19:47run the ball and then you guys draft a running
- 1:19:50back in the first round instead of addressing
- 1:19:52offensive line in the first round. What sense
- 1:19:55does that make? That's the dumbest thing you
- 1:19:57could have ever did. A lot of this blame also
- 1:20:00falls on Kevin Colbert as well because Kevin
- 1:20:03Colbert was not hitting on his draft picks towards
- 1:20:06the end of his tenure. Why in the world would
- 1:20:10you go and draft Kenny Pickett in the first round?
- 1:20:14Why would you do that? Because you know why?
- 1:20:17Because you guys want to rewrite a wrong because
- 1:20:20you guys whiffed on fucking Dan Marino because
- 1:20:24there was an allegation coming out during his
- 1:20:27time at Pitt that basically said that Dan Marino
- 1:20:30was doing coke. If you were so in love with Dan
- 1:20:34Marino, then you should have went to Dan Marino
- 1:20:36and asked Dan Marino, hey, Dan, are you doing
- 1:20:39coke? Instead of just waiting 30 plus freaking
- 1:20:43years and just saying, oh yeah, we're going to
- 1:20:46get Kenny Pickett because we done seen Kenny
- 1:20:49Pickett for the last few years. Really? Really?
- 1:20:54If any of the teams in the top five who needed
- 1:20:58a quarterback passed on Kenny Pickett, passed
- 1:21:01on any of the other quarterbacks, what does that
- 1:21:04tell you? That should probably let you know,
- 1:21:07hey, Maybe we shouldn't draft a quarterback this
- 1:21:10high. Maybe we should wait a little bit longer.
- 1:21:13But you didn't. And so my main gripe is with
- 1:21:18Mike Tomlin. Because you know why? Mike Tomlin
- 1:21:22year after year after year continues to say we
- 1:21:27don't live in our fears and all this Jedi mind
- 1:21:30trick bullshit. And what does it do? Nothing.
- 1:21:36You guys play super hard and super rugged in
- 1:21:39the first half of the season when everybody is
- 1:21:42just trying to get their feet wet. But when the
- 1:21:45games really do matter, when the season starts
- 1:21:49to dwindle down, we start to get ready for the
- 1:21:51playoffs. Guess what happened? Y 'all choke on
- 1:21:53some Popeye's biscuits. And then guess what?
- 1:21:57You look like a sourpuss every single time that
- 1:22:00you don't make it to the damn playoffs. We done
- 1:22:03went almost nine years of not making it to the
- 1:22:06playoffs. And you have not made any significant
- 1:22:10changes to your coaching staff that says that
- 1:22:14you are serious about winning. John Harbaugh,
- 1:22:18your division rival, swallowed his pride and
- 1:22:23called Chuck Pagano. Hey, Chuck, can you join
- 1:22:27my coaching staff? I got some DBs that need some
- 1:22:30fixing. He called Chuck Smith. Hey, can you fix
- 1:22:34on my pass rushers? I want my pass rushers to
- 1:22:38be more productive. He called a whole bunch of
- 1:22:42other coaches to join his coaching staff because
- 1:22:46he is serious about winning. What have you done
- 1:22:50to say that you are serious about winning? The
- 1:22:53only two moves that you made. was get rid of
- 1:22:56the secondaries coach and linebackers coach.
- 1:22:58And you only did that as sacrificial lambs because
- 1:23:00of what happened towards the last game of the
- 1:23:03season when Derrick Henry basically cleaned the
- 1:23:07defensive line to a tee. The defensive line couldn't
- 1:23:12even stop a shred of grass in the wind. That's
- 1:23:17how crazy Derrick Henry was running. You have
- 1:23:20yet to make any adjustments to your defensive
- 1:23:22staff. You have yet to make any adjustments to
- 1:23:24your offensive staff. So what makes you think
- 1:23:27any person would believe in Mike Tomlin at this
- 1:23:30point? None. There is nothing that Mike Tomlin
- 1:23:35can do or say that would make me believe in Mike
- 1:23:39Tomlin or in the Pittsburgh Steelers. There was
- 1:23:41a period in time where the Steelers were feared,
- 1:23:44where the Steelers... Was a team that a lot of
- 1:23:47teams had to prepare. Because you knew it was
- 1:23:51going to be a physical game. Because you knew
- 1:23:54it was going to be a game. Where you may be feeling
- 1:23:56a little bit achy. Maybe for about a week or
- 1:24:00so. Now. Oh we're the laughing stock. We are
- 1:24:06pretenders. Each and every year we are pretenders.
- 1:24:10And granted I was one of those people that was
- 1:24:13drinking from that cup. that believed that the
- 1:24:15Steelers were actually going to do something
- 1:24:16this year, that the Steelers were actually going
- 1:24:18to win a playoff game. One playoff game. Not
- 1:24:22two, not three, not four, not five, not six,
- 1:24:25but one playoff game. And they did not do that.
- 1:24:28They folded when they needed to win the most.
- 1:24:31And granted, I understand that five -game stretch
- 1:24:34was hell. I understand that. But damn! You could
- 1:24:40have won at least two of those games, and you
- 1:24:43didn't even do that. You went on a five -game
- 1:24:45slide, and not once did you think about bringing
- 1:24:48in Justin Fields. Not once. You still rolled
- 1:24:51with frickin' Russell Wilson. Because why? He
- 1:24:55was the apple of your eye. You wanted to play
- 1:24:58favorites, and favorites has not gotten you anywhere.
- 1:25:01Favorites has gotten you eliminated from the
- 1:25:03playoffs for the past eight -plus years. The
- 1:25:06one thing that I can respect about Bill Belichick,
- 1:25:09as cutthroat as he was, guess what? He never
- 1:25:13had favorites. And the one time that he almost
- 1:25:16did have a favorite, guess what? The owner, Robert
- 1:25:19Kraft, forced him to trade him. He forced Bill
- 1:25:25Belichick to trade Jimmy Garoppolo away because
- 1:25:29they had Tom Brady. Meanwhile, you have somebody
- 1:25:32that plays favorites. Every single year. Even
- 1:25:37when it comes to the free agency signings. Favorites.
- 1:25:40You see how high he talks about people like Tee
- 1:25:42Higgins. Patrick Queen. Patrick Peterson. Darius
- 1:25:46Slay. DK Metcalf. All those players. And guess
- 1:25:51what happens? At some point in their career,
- 1:25:54guess what? They're going to be joining the Pittsburgh
- 1:25:56Steelers. It happened with Patrick Peterson.
- 1:25:58It happened with Darius Slay. It happened with
- 1:26:01DK Metcalf. It's going to continue to happen.
- 1:26:04Happened with Patrick Queen. Favorites. When
- 1:26:09can we not go through an offseason where we are
- 1:26:13the main talked about team? When can we just
- 1:26:17go through an offseason where we're just putting
- 1:26:19our head down and we're just working instead
- 1:26:21of just bullshitting? You, Mike Tomlin, was the
- 1:26:27person who decided to go out of his way. along
- 1:26:32with Omar Khan, to meet with a player who had
- 1:26:37serious allegations and an ongoing investigation
- 1:26:41going on in campsite. You met with him. You met
- 1:26:46with him. And you decided to sign him. Why would
- 1:26:53you do such a damning thing? Why? And then to
- 1:26:58make matters worse, You benched Beanie Bishop,
- 1:27:03who was making plays, who had four, four interceptions.
- 1:27:09Meanwhile, Cam Sutton was playing like dog shit
- 1:27:13every single time that he was on the field. They
- 1:27:18turned Cam Sutton into a jiff when Isaiah likely
- 1:27:22basically threw him down to the center of the
- 1:27:26earth. And you mean to tell me that I want to
- 1:27:29believe in this team? Hell no. And then not to
- 1:27:32mention, let's just keep on going here, folks.
- 1:27:35You continue to say that you want Cam Hayward
- 1:27:39and TJ Watt and Minka Fitzpatrick to experience
- 1:27:42the confetti, to experience winning a Super Bowl,
- 1:27:46but you haven't done a damn thing to say that
- 1:27:50he is serious about wanting us to win a Super
- 1:27:53Bowl. You haven't done anything. Don't tell me
- 1:27:56that you want to model the construction of this
- 1:27:59team to the Eagles when you are not willing to
- 1:28:02do anything of what the Eagles have been able
- 1:28:05to do. I want you to think about this for a moment
- 1:28:07here, folks. The Eagles were able to win a Super
- 1:28:12Bowl, go through some rift within their locker
- 1:28:15room, trade away their franchise quarterback,
- 1:28:19go through a small rebuild, retool again, Go
- 1:28:25and get another head coach and win another Super
- 1:28:28Bowl before the Steelers won a playoff game.
- 1:28:31I want you to think about that for a second here,
- 1:28:33folks. If I am a team, if I am a Steelers fan,
- 1:28:38I would be livid. I would be pissed because you
- 1:28:42know why? We are wasting the years of a T .J.
- 1:28:45Watt. We are wasting the years of a Cam Hayward.
- 1:28:48Here you have two blue collar players who work
- 1:28:52as hard as they do. In season, out of season.
- 1:28:56Who continue to hold the Steelers banner up.
- 1:29:02Even though when everybody says, bro, you should
- 1:29:04just go somewhere else. You should just go and
- 1:29:06just try to see if you can hitch on another team
- 1:29:09and possibly win a championship. But they stay
- 1:29:11loyal to the team. And y 'all haven't done anything
- 1:29:13to say that, hey, we're going to push our chips
- 1:29:17in and we're going to find a way. to make sure
- 1:29:20that this team is the best that we can be so
- 1:29:23that we can try to get you guys at least a playoff
- 1:29:24win. T .J. Watt doesn't even have a playoff win.
- 1:29:28He doesn't even have a playoff win. Think about
- 1:29:31that for a second here, folks. That is ridiculous.
- 1:29:35As hard as T .J. Watt plays, doesn't even have
- 1:29:38a playoff win. That is a shame before God. And
- 1:29:43then not to mention, you have somebody in Mike
- 1:29:48Tomlin. Who does not want to make serious changes
- 1:29:53to his coaching staff. When literally we all
- 1:29:56saw what happened when they had Brian Flores
- 1:30:00for one year. You saw how the defense played
- 1:30:05so much better. You saw how everybody just did
- 1:30:09their job a little bit more better. And you never
- 1:30:13thought about, hey, maybe we need to continue
- 1:30:15to do this. Maybe we should continue to bring
- 1:30:18in some people. And you have opportunities to
- 1:30:21do it. You could have brought in Robert Sala.
- 1:30:24You could have brought in Antonio Pierce. You
- 1:30:26could have brought in Jerron Mayo. But you didn't
- 1:30:28want to do that. Do you know why the Eagles are
- 1:30:33where they are? Do you know why the Ravens are
- 1:30:36where they are? Do you know why the Rams are
- 1:30:38where they are? Because you know why? They invest
- 1:30:41into scouting. They invest into their coaching
- 1:30:45staff. That is why it's not just about the players,
- 1:30:50but it's also about the foundational pieces,
- 1:30:54actually expanding your coaching staff, actually
- 1:30:58expanding your scouting. Stop just going to the
- 1:31:02same four or five different schools every single
- 1:31:05offseason. Start going to these smaller schools
- 1:31:09because what you're starting to see now is players
- 1:31:12from these smaller schools. are more refined
- 1:31:16in their techniques, and they have more upside
- 1:31:18with their game. And they don't have half of
- 1:31:21the antics that some of these players that go
- 1:31:23to these Power 5 schools go to. Sure, if there's
- 1:31:28somebody from Alabama that you really like, go.
- 1:31:31But you go to the same colleges every single
- 1:31:34year. Alabama, Michigan, Ohio State, Texas, Clemson.
- 1:31:39Those are the main places you go to. You haven't
- 1:31:42really touched the West Coast like how you're
- 1:31:44supposed to. The last time that they went to
- 1:31:46the West Coast was for who? David DeCastro. And
- 1:31:49that turned out pretty well. So you have to expand.
- 1:31:54You have to be in a season of openness. You have
- 1:31:57to be in a season of expansion if you really
- 1:32:00want to tell people that I am serious about winning.
- 1:32:04Stop saying that you're serious when you're actually
- 1:32:07saying that, you know what, I want to be shitty.
- 1:32:09I want to do just enough. I want to just get
- 1:32:13by so I can continue to extend the streak of
- 1:32:15saying I have never had a losing season. Bill
- 1:32:18Belichick has had a losing season. Andy Reid
- 1:32:21has had losing seasons. Other coaches have had
- 1:32:23losing seasons. What makes you think that you
- 1:32:27are bigger than any and all of them? Nothing.
- 1:32:31And then... To make matters worse, while we were
- 1:32:36going through that winning streak, you decided
- 1:32:39to say, and you left it with a smirk on your
- 1:32:42face, this is why I'm highly compensated. But
- 1:32:46towards the end of the season, you didn't have
- 1:32:49a whole lot to say. You looked like you just
- 1:32:51finished eating a bunch of lemons. You didn't
- 1:32:56know what to say because you got punched in the
- 1:32:58mouth. You got punched in the mouth by the Eagles.
- 1:33:01You got punched in the mouth by the Chiefs. You
- 1:33:03got punched in the mouth by the Bengals. You
- 1:33:05got punched in the mouth by the Ravens. And you
- 1:33:08couldn't do anything about it. So stop telling
- 1:33:12me that you guys are serious about winning. Show
- 1:33:15it. And this falls on Art Rooney as well. You
- 1:33:19need to expand your coaching staff. That is the
- 1:33:22only way that this team can be real contenders.
- 1:33:27That is the only way. If you do not do that,
- 1:33:30guess what? You will never win a championship.
- 1:33:34And you know what's going to happen? And I pray
- 1:33:36to God this does not happen. Cam Hayward and
- 1:33:39TJ Watt are going to be Hall of Famers who have
- 1:33:44never won a championship, who have never even
- 1:33:46whiffed a Super Bowl. It's going to be a whole
- 1:33:50bunch of what -ifs with their career. Do you
- 1:33:54really want that? No. I don't think nobody really
- 1:33:58wants them to experience that. But that's a possibility.
- 1:34:04So why am I so passionate? Why am I so angry
- 1:34:08about the Steelers? Why am I so angry about Mike
- 1:34:11Tomlin? Because you know why? Year after year
- 1:34:14after year, they continue to sell us the same
- 1:34:17thing. And at some point, it feels like we're
- 1:34:21like the Cowboys. Every single year, we build
- 1:34:24ourselves up. We say, hey, this is going to be
- 1:34:28our year. This is going to be something special
- 1:34:30than last year and the years before that. And
- 1:34:34guess what happens? It's the same outcome every
- 1:34:37single year. 9 -8, 10 -8, 10 -7, 10 -6, 10 -5,
- 1:34:4411 -4. It's not enough. Never has been, never
- 1:34:50will be. This team deserves to win. There are
- 1:34:56players on this team that have been loyal to
- 1:34:58this team that deserve to win. And if you are
- 1:35:03not willing to make the necessary changes, if
- 1:35:07you are not willing to make the necessary additions
- 1:35:10to make this team better, then go somewhere else.
- 1:35:18Just go. Stop wasting people's time. Stop trying
- 1:35:23to hype everybody up for the season. There's
- 1:35:26not enough promoting videos. There's not enough
- 1:35:30teasers. There's not enough trailers. There's
- 1:35:33not enough of those that can replace the drought,
- 1:35:37the lack of thirst, the lack of winning that
- 1:35:41this team has yet to experience. None of it.
- 1:35:45Here you have the Ravens, your division rival,
- 1:35:48who have made significant moves to their coaching
- 1:35:51staff and you haven't done anything. The most
- 1:35:55you did was hire a linebackers coach. A no -name
- 1:35:59linebackers coach. No disrespect to you, big
- 1:36:01dog. How in the world can you say you want to
- 1:36:04position yourself to draft a quarterback next
- 1:36:07year when you don't have somebody on this coaching
- 1:36:10staff that has experience developing a quarterback?
- 1:36:16Folks, I could go on a whole nother hour about
- 1:36:21how I am so disappointed in this team, but I
- 1:36:25don't think nobody really wants to hear that.
- 1:36:28But I will say this and I'll leave it and then
- 1:36:32we'll do the outro and whatnot. I have very low
- 1:36:38expectations for this team moving forward. I
- 1:36:42will not be super dramatic. when it comes to
- 1:36:45us winning and losing and until significant changes
- 1:36:49are made i will somewhat step back when it comes
- 1:36:54to the support that i have for this team i have
- 1:36:57said it public i've now said it publicly so now
- 1:36:59everybody can can backtrack and hold me accountable
- 1:37:02for for what i just said but i want to end this
- 1:37:05episode here if you guys like what you are listening

- 1:39:19But we'll probably next year, we'll probably
- 1:39:22go a little bit more in depth when it comes to
- 1:39:24stats for every single team and records and all
- 1:39:27those different things. I probably won't be putting
- 1:39:30out another episode for a while now. If anything
- 1:39:33crazy happens with Aaron Rodgers, maybe I will.
- 1:39:36But moving forward, I probably won't. I'll probably
- 1:39:40save everything else for the draft and whatnot.
- 1:39:43But I will be putting out clips, posting mock
