- 0:00Party started. Okay, I hit record baboom blah
- 0:03blah, a watermelon watermelon watermelon.
- 0:07Okay we're going to really do this.
- 0:10Hey everybody, Welcome to the space news pod a show about
- 0:14SpaceX NASA and space flight. I'm here with Neil Thorn again
- 0:17he's up there. Hello?
- 0:19Well hello and we'll be walking through everything that's going
- 0:24on with Starship SpaceX Starbase This Axiom space today to pretty
- 0:32cool and also some International Space Station news that just
- 0:36happened. So lots to cover today.
- 0:39Yeah, that's a lot of stuff going on.
- 0:40Space is crazy. So here, let's check this out.
- 0:45We got some, we got a tweet over here.
- 0:46By Starship gazer there welding extensions on the legs.
- 0:54Orbital Tower, beautiful. Look at that crate.
- 0:59Thanks man. Solutely.
- 1:00Yeah, the crane has since detached from here and it's
- 1:04lying down. Now they're adding an extension
- 1:06to the top of this thing is going to be even taller, not
- 1:09quite double but quite a bit taller maybe another third
- 1:13house, they can so they can put some more Towers.
- 1:15Yeah. I don't know how they works but
- 1:18it works its structural, I guess.
- 1:21Yeah, I'm not privy to that sort of information in my head, but
- 1:25look at. So, this is what I notice from
- 1:26this picture, is that their stairs, you know, and I know
- 1:29that. The reinforcing things, but
- 1:31people have to walk up and down this thing in order to do work.
- 1:34Yeah. But if you look at beer, if you
- 1:36look closely right in the middle between them, there's actually a
- 1:39structure for the elevator to. Yep.
- 1:41So, that structure. There is the elevator?
- 1:43Yeah. Yeah, this is for those of you
- 1:46that are lazy out there, I don't think anything past the third
- 1:50one, you're going to want something to get to.
- 1:51Yeah. Well, this is going to be like
- 1:54400 plus feet tall. So it's it's freaking gigantic.
- 2:00Yeah. And if you can't walk, I mean
- 2:01you can walk the whole thing if you want to I guess.
- 2:04But also nobody wants to do that.
- 2:08This third segment is probably as tall as the man lifts are
- 2:11going to take you as well. So yeah, they're building in
- 2:14this scaffolding as they go. So they can finish welding and
- 2:17attaching bolts and whatnot. It's actually interesting to see
- 2:21the scaffolding on the side of the not that not the corners,
- 2:25but the side is kind of just hanging on the side of this
- 2:28thing. Ya know.
- 2:29No no I going out there. Want to be jumping down to that?
- 2:34I don't know maybe I'm not built for this.
- 2:37Yeah it's not it's not my thing either.
- 2:38I'm afraid of heights. So that's this is not going to
- 2:41not going to be good for me to work on that thing.
- 2:43I'm not going up there. Yeah, so they're welding these
- 2:46things onto now. So these are just five meter
- 2:49tall extensions unbelievable to think that these things are five
- 2:53meters tall. They don't look it because
- 2:56everything. So massive there but this is
- 2:59what the law. Lunch table is going to sit on.
- 3:03Okay, so they've been building for months and months now, also,
- 3:07if actually got three of these on today at or as at this point,
- 3:11I'm not sure whether they putting another one on today, so
- 3:15pretty exciting. Yeah.
- 3:16They don't even look that big sir.
- 3:17I mean, compared to, you know, the Tower and the cranes and
- 3:20everything like that. So there's, you know, there was
- 3:23a guy for scale. There's a person for scale right
- 3:26here and it's fish. It also, it doesn't look that
- 3:28big of like, I could probably go up there and hang out there, but
- 3:32it's also So quite large. So as you can see by that Tower
- 3:37like this Tower is huge and it's draping down over that area,
- 3:41right over here on the right side and it's just it's big
- 3:46everything down there. Just doesn't look, everything's
- 3:49man. Real, Everything is Everything
- 3:50doesn't make sense. Yeah.
- 3:54Okay. Yeah, I'm thinking about like
- 3:56the height of everything down there and like that it's all
- 3:59flat in that region. And you're just going to be from
- 4:03like Miles and Miles Away. You'll be able to see this giant
- 4:06orbital test and yeah and it's going to it's going to be crazy.
- 4:10I hope they light it up. Something cool, you know, like
- 4:12maybe put some RGB, he's on there, you know something, some
- 4:15cool lighting would be really. I saw it.
- 4:18Unfortunately I didn't tell you to get this ready for us but saw
- 4:20a tweet from Nomad Nomads, one of the sort of holdouts in the
- 4:26Village Boca Chica Village. She's been there still and he's
- 4:30leaving, he's just sort of. Leaving now.
- 4:32So he put a picture up of the area before all this started in
- 4:37the area now and it's quite the difference.
- 4:39Oh well in just a few short for years or something.
- 4:42That's just been completely built up quite something.
- 4:45Yeah. I saw his tweet, they said he
- 4:47was leaving and I was like, hey, thanks man.
- 4:48Thanks for doing what you've done.
- 4:50And you know, I can't wait to see what happens in the next
- 4:55five or ten years but also this place was like a peaceful like
- 4:59secluded beach. She's a retirement village
- 5:02sleepy. Retirement Village was just a
- 5:04few homes in it and just like a few people live in there.
- 5:07And now it's like this massive industrial complex and yeah,
- 5:11it's kind of crazy how it all changed.
- 5:13So quickly. Now, where was this one?
- 5:17I think this is now. That's not the right one, the
- 5:19launched actually. Yeah, this is the right one.
- 5:21There's some been some discussions about booster
- 5:24catching from or kegs or Keck Space Twitter As we are
- 5:29beginning to see rails on three Tower pillars.
- 5:32So the actual caching mechanism is still unclear.
- 5:35So again if you know from the right.
- 5:41No I just sitting there, I stood up here too.
- 5:44Yeah, look at that guy. This is the picture.
- 5:45I was thinking of when I was looking at those the Scaffolding
- 5:47in the middle there, it's just sort of it's the scaffolded
- 5:50hanging on to this thing. Yeah, it doesn't make sense and
- 5:53it's there's no refining. So let me know in the comments
- 5:57people out. If you're watching this, let me
- 5:59know in the comments if you would climb up this thing and
- 6:02hang out on these scaffolds. That would be, I want to see
- 6:04what people's reactions are because I'm like, get me off
- 6:07this. Like I'm not, I wouldn't go up
- 6:08there. It's terrifying, it's pretty
- 6:10terrifying, but this was their job.
- 6:12This is what they get paid. Yeah, they love it and they're
- 6:14used to it, I guess. Anyway, the real that we're
- 6:17looking at is on the right here. So, just above where your mouse.
- 6:20Is, yeah, a trail up there. That's what Eric's talking
- 6:23about. So that is on three of the
- 6:27pillars. Sort of three of the column.
- 6:30So weird. We're not sure exactly how the
- 6:32attachment is going to happen. His next picture is sort of a
- 6:35render of his that shows the same thing essentially, but he's
- 6:39kind of got an attachment on there as well.
- 6:43So he's just trying to figure out how it's going to work.
- 6:46So that piece below is kind of his caching mechanism a little
- 6:49bit but yeah it's funny way the speculation of yeah.
- 6:54There's speculation of how they're going to catch it.
- 6:55Like is it going to look like a? I know you'll on Like a mecha
- 6:59Godzilla here. Yeah, you know like it's going
- 7:01to be like a cloth. It's like grabs onto the thing.
- 7:05So I'll see you in the next couple years.
- 7:08I mean I'm sure we'll see you in the next six to eight months
- 7:10kind of Renditions and like renders of it.
- 7:13So many different people but Elon wants to do a Starship talk
- 7:17at some point. He said it'd be kind of a cool
- 7:19idea to have a Starship talk like an update.
- 7:22So maybe during that update, he'll have updates about the
- 7:25claw, the claw You know, the whole concept.
- 7:30Of course, we've talked about in the past is crazy, Catchings
- 7:33booster and putting it back on the launch Mount, not just crazy
- 7:38to do it, but crazy to test it, right?
- 7:40You've got to actually figure out how to do these things
- 7:42before you actually do them. Are they going to build a second
- 7:46rig to as a test rig that? They don't care if the damaged
- 7:50they're going to. Or they actually going to use
- 7:53this and try and catch it with using the actual equipment.
- 7:58I can't imagine trying to do that without, you know, testing
- 8:01first, he set himself in a recent tweet, they're gonna,
- 8:05it's gonna take a while to be able to do this.
- 8:07Yeah, it's going to take a lot of experimentation and steam is
- 8:11as with launching Starship and Landing Starship, it took a long
- 8:14time to get to 15. So, same things going to happen
- 8:18with the catch in the booster, maybe maybe even worse, you
- 8:21know, even even Landing the Falcon 9 booster.
- 8:27Isn't perfect it def. They definitely get in the
- 8:30circle every time, but it's not right in the dead center of the
- 8:33circle every time. So yeah.
- 8:36As awesome as those Landings are and we'll get to see another one
- 8:40as they launch the next mission up there, but as awesome as they
- 8:45are, they're not perfect. So they're close the really
- 8:48close but it's taken them how many years like a decade to get
- 8:51that, you know, to get them close but this is also 30 some
- 8:56odd wrap. L may be that, you know, 32 Ilan
- 8:59was to put 32 on there. Yeah.
- 9:01Actually getting all those to fire in unison and like to
- 9:05navigate that thing like it's a massive structure 9 meters
- 9:09around, you know, like it's big. So it's it's a lot different
- 9:13than, you know, a falcon 9 the show is brought to you by
- 9:16backblaze, I use backblaze to back up my podcast.
- 9:19My video files, all of my writing stuff, and all my
- 9:23photos, and you get unlimited computer backup for Macs and PCs
- 9:26for just Dollars a month, you can backup your own documents
- 9:30photos videos. Drawings projects, all of your
- 9:33data and access your backed up data from anywhere in the world
- 9:36using the web app and you can access the files on your mobile
- 9:39to iOS Android apps all covered. And this is the cool part.
- 9:43This is my favorite part. You can restore it by mail, a
- 9:45hard drive will come to your house with all your data shipped
- 9:48to your door. I could come to your business to
- 9:50and you can restore return refund program so you can buy a
- 9:54hard drive restore, send the hard drive back within 30 days.
- 9:57Days and get a full refund. So basically they ship you this
- 10:00hard drive and then you ship it back and you don't ever pay for
- 10:03it. Which is the perfect program for
- 10:05somebody who has huge files. You don't want to waste days and
- 10:09days, downloading terabytes and teraflops of data.
- 10:12And if you're worried about accidentally, deleting your
- 10:13files to bucks extra month, you can increase your retention
- 10:17history to one year, and I use it for all of my video.
- 10:20Files comes in super handy. So seven dollars plus two
- 10:24dollars nine dollars a month and you get everything backed up.
- 10:27He's Mind for up to a year. And if you use the URL back,
- 10:31place.com slash Ilan, you get a fully featured 15-day.

- 11:15and is really easy to use. So go to back plays.com / heel
- 11:19on back plays.com Ilan backblaze.com, Ilan, and but
- 11:27Similar and maybe closes get enough, you know.
- 11:33Yeah, and maybe maybe 10 meters either way, is what they're
- 11:37going for. Yeah.
- 11:38Maybe they're going to have a, some sort of weird.
- 11:40I don't even know at this point because I don't think they can
- 11:43get it. So precise.
- 11:44I mean I think they can eventually but getting it so
- 11:47precise that a claw. I mean I didn't know what to
- 11:51refer to it, but like, something like her scissors catching.
- 11:54It's like, you know, just goes right in there.
- 11:56I don't know. That's doesn't make any sense to
- 11:59me. It blows my mind.
- 12:00I'm thinking about it right now, in like my mind is racing, how
- 12:02this stuff is going to happen? So yeah, it's crazy crazy.
- 12:06Yeah, I remember some months ago, kind of having a panic
- 12:09attack thinking all the things they have to do to make this
- 12:11happen. Yeah, but I mean a lot of what I
- 12:14was panicking about is already happened so maybe I should be
- 12:19panicking as much and it's yeah, probably and here's a speaking
- 12:24of panic and look at how tall this thing is.
- 12:25I'd freak out on the top of this thing.
- 12:27Yeah, by U, /l Mar 92 on Reddit. This is a big, the things going
- 12:33to be a stickler for Shale like that's that's that's only seven
- 12:38of them. Yeah.
- 12:40Which is I think I made a Reddit post as well with seven on it.
- 12:43There's going to be something at the top of this to write the
- 12:45crane itself. Yes.
- 12:47Still has to be attached to the top of this and it's going to be
- 12:50large on its own right? Yeah.
- 12:53As far as I can tell, they've got a crane on site sitting in.
- 12:57A building that is ready to go on top of this already, and it's
- 13:00basically a pillar crane. So it's going to there's no
- 13:03counterweight on the other side. All the force of the the weight
- 13:07of the booster and Starship are going to be carried by this
- 13:11Tower, which is part of the reason that the towers on a 45
- 13:14degree, angle to the launch platform.
- 13:17So that it's, you know, that way is being carried on an area that
- 13:23doesn't want to bend either way, so yeah.
- 13:27So it's going to be quite something to see that up there,
- 13:29as well. This whole operational.
- 13:32Yeah, this whole thing is intense, like everything is at
- 13:35that, that's what we're talking about earlier.
- 13:37The 32 Raptors. So this is a possible, 32 Raptor
- 13:41layup by Architects space on Twitter.
- 13:44Again, this isn't, this is gonna look like.
- 13:48That. Doesn't make any sense either.
- 13:50Like most of the stuff, like, I'd look at this stuff and I'm
- 13:52just like everybody else out there were like really like, is
- 13:56this Overkill? Like this is this like this
- 13:59doesn't make any sense of something that I build in
- 14:01Kerbal, you know, just messing around and seeing how long I
- 14:04could launch this thing. Yeah, that looks like something
- 14:06is going to get 100 tons to orbit plus the weight of the
- 14:08ship. Yes, what that is.
- 14:10That's what that is. Yeah, exactly.
- 14:12This will, this will move a lot of stuff.
- 14:13So Ilan, tweeted back, pretty close.
- 14:17Inner ring is closer to Center 3 as all 12 gimbal together, which
- 14:22also is crazy boost backburn efficiency is greatly improved
- 14:26in this. Config so Or texted flamey, end.
- 14:29And then a little man, a little, a little star, man down there,
- 14:34and don't stand there, buddy. That's not a good place to stand
- 14:37up for late. Yeah, just walk away.
- 14:39Just turn around walk away, but you can see in this one.
- 14:41He's got those that inner ring is a little bit further in now,
- 14:45right around here. Yeah, so that all 12 of those
- 14:46engines will be able to Kimble, but there's another thing two
- 14:50things this year as well. You can see that the launch
- 14:54Mount has those capture lock. In clamps on it.
- 14:58So they're holding onto the booster as well as you can kind
- 15:02of see the what Eric is decided that catching arms going to look
- 15:07like. So that's pretty cool too.
- 15:09Yeah the catching. I'm looks pretty crazy.
- 15:13I think, you know, it's going to catch.
- 15:15So with this arm I notice this this from this arm, it's only
- 15:19going to catch three sides of the thing.
- 15:21Will be either side. It might not even be three.
- 15:23Might just be too. Yeah, I could be too.
- 15:25Yeah, I think that's that's definitely.
- 15:27Issue with this design, to be honest.
- 15:29Yeah, but I think it's, it's pretty cool.
- 15:34Yeah. Eric is cool, but I think they,
- 15:36I don't know how they're going to do it, but I think there's
- 15:38going to be like a, just a circle, you know, just think of
- 15:42it as a ring in that going to Landry's Rings.
- 15:44I've seen renders that are rings as well.
- 15:47Yeah, for sure. It's only SpaceX knows what this
- 15:52is going to look like and they're probably still debating
- 15:53it as well. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 15:55Until they try it. They're probably going Try
- 15:57different variations of it as well.
- 15:59So yeah you know there's its this is a test bed like
- 16:02everything's being tested right now.
- 16:04Nothing's permanent everything's in the high development right
- 16:09now so you can see that even with with the stuff that's going
- 16:13on with, you know, the the changes to the Raptors when it
- 16:16was like 20 something and I was 32, you know, they thought okay
- 16:21well we need more we need more power.
- 16:23Always need more power for this thing.
- 16:25So that is everything that Changes all the time, really
- 16:28interesting. Exciting is, if you go into that
- 16:30picture again, The Locking clamps are actually in the way
- 16:37of the outside, Raptors those Raptors.
- 16:39So many Raptors on that they stick outside of the, the ship,
- 16:44a little bit. Booster a little bit.
- 16:46So they're actually in the way they have to get out of the way
- 16:48before. That Raptor fix it.
- 16:52That's yeah. Those Raptors had it.
- 16:53So everything has to happen pretty fast sequence.
- 16:58Obviously it's a rocket launch. Yeah, it's not rock.
- 17:01Get science is what everybody says when it's hard to do so
- 17:07they'll obviously get it done and don't know how to doing, but
- 17:11wow, such a yaxha t-that's. Yeah, and it's, it's to the
- 17:15second, you know, microsecond kind of thing.
- 17:17If this doesn't work out, it could ding off one of those arms
- 17:20and think it was wherever it goes, you know, probably not
- 17:25going to cause too much but it might damage one of the one of
- 17:29the Raptors, which could be different kind of traffic.
- 17:31So, This just rip it off. Now, let's check out speaking of
- 17:35SpaceX Axiom, space and SpaceX are working together to bring
- 17:41private astronauts to the International Space Station.
- 17:45And Axiom of space will be sending people there.
- 17:48Next year I believe is that the first one?
- 17:50I think it's 20. It was January.
- 17:52Yeah, something like January 2020 to.
- 17:54I think pretty white to. Yeah.
- 17:55So really 2022. And then there's another three.
- 18:00It says there another. Three through 2023.
- 18:04Yeah, okay so so basically a two year to year recycled launch
- 18:08for. That's a lot really quick.
- 18:12I mean it's not a big deal for SpaceX what they're doing now
- 18:14it's what they do down to the ISS but if they're going to be
- 18:17also taking people to the ISS they've just increased their
- 18:21launch schedule by to write w. So yeah, this is going to kind
- 18:25of play into sort of like when Bowen gets back into the thing
- 18:29with Starliner. So when Star liner is going to
- 18:31be sending Two astronauts up SpaceX isn't going to have that
- 18:34business, right? So they have to kind of like
- 18:37fill in that, that little spot. So another way to do that is to
- 18:41make money through Axiom, who's going to be sending people to
- 18:43the ISS via Falcon 9's and crew dragons, so make money, making
- 18:50that money, move forward, move spaceflight forward, move human,
- 18:54spaceflight forward, Axiom has a press release and eventually
- 18:57Axiom will have a have their own space station that It's from the
- 19:02International Space Station because I'm going to be making
- 19:04their own modules on the station and that eventually the first
- 19:082024, correct, I believe. So yeah, I plan to and then they
- 19:13will have enough up there, by 2028 to separate from the ISS
- 19:17when they soup, that's the current schedule for
- 19:19decommissioning. The ISS right as well.
- 19:22Have Axiom, Axiom spaces, modules will disappear and
- 19:26roscosmos will disappear as well and then whatever's left of the
- 19:30International Space. Station will be Deorbit it.
- 19:33Yeah and then we'll have the China space station up there as
- 19:36well. They just send up another module
- 19:40couple days ago and we're actually tracking the booster
- 19:43that went up with that. Then we'll give you more
- 19:45information about that because it's still in orbit the booster
- 19:48cylinder but I believe it's going to be coming back.
- 19:51June 20th. So stay tuned.
- 19:54We'll have some information. Yeah, somewhere.
- 19:57We don't know where we don't know if it's going to be powered
- 19:59boost back but we don't know if it's going to be.
- 20:01Be out of control but we'll have a live stream of wherever it's
- 20:04going. So make sure to tune in.
- 20:06Make sure to subscribe to by the Kevin Howard.
- 20:09The last two. I don't know why they would
- 20:10power the state would not, they're not going to.
- 20:12So we're going to have an out-of-control Chinese booster
- 20:15coming back to Earth in June, so stay tuned.
- 20:19What I what I notice about axioms.
- 20:21Press release is they have it cool quote from Gwynne.
- 20:24Shotwell was a CEO of SpaceX. We are Beyond excited to build
- 20:28upon our relationship partnership with Axiom to help
- 20:31make Spaceflight more accessible for more people, a new era in
- 20:35human spaceflight is here. It's true.
- 20:38Yeah. Absolutely.
- 20:40And yeah, you said that once Starliner comes on board and
- 20:45Sierra Nevadas got one as well coming, there's more people go
- 20:48into space as opposed to the same amount right?
- 20:51We've got yep. In the very end, the very near
- 20:52future. There's a lot of people going to
- 20:55space from a lot of different vehicles and they're all going
- 20:57to be needed. It's not, it's still
- 21:00competition. But there's gonna be a lot more
- 21:03going up there to begin with. So from a tourist standpoint,
- 21:07from a scientist and point, it's going to be busy up there.
- 21:11Yeah, there's going to be people, it's got to be pretty
- 21:13normal. You know, people go into the ISS
- 21:15three, four, five flights a year.
- 21:17Couple people each flight like two to four people per flight.
- 21:21It just regular people that have the money to go.
- 21:23Not yet, it's not astronauts or not.
- 21:25Like super trained NASA people, you know, you don't have to go
- 21:29to flight school anymore, you don't have to go into the air.
- 21:31Horse become a test pilot anymore or become crazy
- 21:34scientist and you know that's happening this year, right?
- 21:38That's happening now. Yeah, I think you've got blue
- 21:42origin is going to be sending people up.
- 21:44You've got inspiration for is going up.
- 21:47Yep, even the Russians are setting up so use as well.
- 21:51Some people just regular folk so it's happening.
- 21:56Yeah, be a long time before we can afford it, but this one.
- 22:00So that's why you have to subscribe.
- 22:02Yeah, yeah. So it's happening really quick
- 22:08and it really is a new era in human spaceflight.
- 22:11And we're happy to be here to be part of it.
- 22:12So yeah. So stay tuned for that to more
- 22:17Boca Chica news, okay? We got you know, quick
- 22:21transition. See how that see, how
- 22:23professional I am RGV, aerial Boca, Chica Starbase labels by
- 22:29Bingo Baco, Boca, Bingo, buck. Go Boca May 31st of 2021 the max
- 22:36Q nose cone. We we were just laughing before
- 22:39we spread a recording this that May 31st my goodness, that's
- 22:43ages ago. Yeah.
- 22:44So long ago we're like we can't report on this is so long ago,
- 22:49but then we're doing it anyway because it's pretty cool.
- 22:52Bingo Boca. So this is this is B into which
- 22:57is turned into a booster number two which is turned into a test
- 23:00tank. Now it's not Actually going to
- 23:02be built out to a full booster. The First full Boost will be
- 23:06booster three or I think Ilan called it.
- 23:09Booster. One or two screws are too thick.
- 23:12It is called a booster. It's booster may be made.
- 23:14Anyway, it's sitting on that sort of last week's video.
- 23:17We talked about a mystery structure that they built a
- 23:21black structure, that's what this is sitting on.
- 23:22Now it turns out that that black structure is a Thrust Puck is
- 23:29test and set it essentially. So it's it's basically
- 23:32simulating the thrust of all the engines underneath it to to make
- 23:37sure that the welds are holding and everything stable with
- 23:40whatnot. They do this with a Starship as
- 23:43well. They have a raptor thrust book
- 23:45as well. That's rest pack.
- 23:47Sorry, wrong words but for us, it's simulator is the same old.
- 23:53Same old, the same stuff. Yeah, pretty pretty interesting,
- 23:55High base over here in nose cone, the max-q, nose cones up
- 23:58here, and yeah, once once the booster just passed the tests,
- 24:04then they'll be, you know, ready to do booster.
- 24:07I think it's booster one. I don't know, booster, booster
- 24:09wonder, whatever whatever Ilan said to be able to rely on says,
- 24:13that's what that's what we go with.
- 24:16Then they'll be ready to move that out and start testing that
- 24:20as well which is going to be insane because that's an orbital
- 24:24Starship that's coming up. So also States you can see
- 24:30something you can see is that a lot of the sorry to interrupt
- 24:33you, that's all good. Just a pro bono the channel but
- 24:42you can see the lot of the a lot of the motion at the test.
- 24:46They build site has stopped. There's a lot of stuff that just
- 24:50isn't happening anymore because they're they've got so much to
- 24:53do on the launch pad and the launch tower that they just kind
- 24:58of put it into neutral on their coasting right now.
- 25:02Yeah. And SN based on the at this
- 25:04site. Yeah.
- 25:05Yeah. An S&M 15s just pushed in the
- 25:07back lot. Yeah it looks like that's a fun.
- 25:10One of the stands. They built a long time ago now.
- 25:12So it is. It is there for posterity?
- 25:15Yeah. It's It's there to to show
- 25:18people, you know, like he meant this is a real thing and we're
- 25:20working on getting people to orbit that was three weeks ago.
- 25:24Ancient. Yeah, ancient history.
- 25:26Yeah, exactly. That's, that's crazy how fast
- 25:29this is moving. Like, this doesn't happen in
- 25:31real life or this didn't happen before SpaceX.
- 25:35This is all kind of like you know it done in big Warehouse
- 25:39you're someplace mysterious like blue origin style where you
- 25:43don't know anything until they tell you and now it's just like,
- 25:46oh yeah. Could all this stuff speaking of
- 25:50stuff. This is from Starship Kaiser and
- 25:53starts with k 0. By the way, this is from RGV,
- 25:55aerial photography are RGB aerial photos on Twitter and
- 26:00this is Starship Geezer and Starship.
- 26:01Gazer by cell signal was terrible out here with my new
- 26:04phone can only send tweets and few locations.
- 26:08We're talking about this a little bit earlier, but I didn't
- 26:10really know what's going on with this.
- 26:11Do you know any more about this than nothing?
- 26:15Because I know barely any I think the general shape of it,
- 26:18indicates that it might be have something to do with the header
- 26:20tank. It's probably a template to weld
- 26:23new header tanks together using sort of a vertical weld on that.
- 26:29I believe the white parts of this are is basically a heat
- 26:32sinks to take heed wave during the welding process, okay?
- 26:37Through the fusion confusion to the, the friction welding that
- 26:41they're doing. So yeah, it's as simple as a
- 26:44template for welding, okay? Super basic.
- 26:47It looks cool. It doesn't look very sturdy.
- 26:51Yeah likes very sturdy looks very futuristic.
- 26:53Looks like something that you know looking at 7.2 there as
- 26:57well. Yeah, this thing's big.
- 27:00So the other thing is, like, it fits on the back of this,
- 27:03flatbed truck, puppet trucks are big.
- 27:06I've been on top of those things and I've been next to them,
- 27:08they're big. This thing is bigger and and
- 27:12this thing's even so everything, they're like receiver for we're
- 27:14in all of how Gigantic everything is I just want to
- 27:18walk around in this facility with permission of course and
- 27:22say what is going like just look up so late.
- 27:26Yeah, everything's associate which it's so huge.
- 27:29So big. Yeah.
- 27:30This is I was I'd be like a little kid.
- 27:32Yeah. Be like when you go to New York
- 27:34City for the first time of you just like look up you're just
- 27:36like the Toronto or wherever a big city and this look up and
- 27:39see you can go up into that to you.
- 27:40Hi. Babe are.
- 27:42Oh yeah the high bar High bar. Pretty cool.
- 27:47So that fear of heights thing, I think I'd be okay going up
- 27:50there. It's like is as long as I can be
- 27:53in an elevator and secure but I think.
- 27:57Yeah, I think I'd be okay. I think it would be worth it.
- 28:00Just to go hang out and have a margarita up there and, you
- 28:04know, check out the whole facility, everything.
- 28:07Oh yeah. But yeah, you can see, you know,
- 28:11how big this thing is. Like, it doesn't look that big
- 28:13compared to that tank, you know. But then again, some tank is 9
- 28:19meters wide, right? Exactly.
- 28:21But the tank is massive. So here we have another methane
- 28:26sub coolers Yeah, so these are there's lock sub coolers and
- 28:33there's methane sub. Cool is being installed right
- 28:35now. Either side of the GSE tanks.
- 28:38So these are devices that will basically recycle Recycle and
- 28:44and get it ready for putting back into these tanks.
- 28:46I think. Okay, cool, cool.
- 28:49Yeah, they are a little bit closer and of course people for
- 28:53scale and yeah, they're quite large again and they do a lot of
- 29:01work. So it's something to realize
- 29:06just how much goes into the stuff, all the planning they
- 29:10have to do to organize all this stuff they have.
- 29:13They're building all this in advance of making their own fuel
- 29:16still. So you know, all this has to be
- 29:19in place before you can make a drop of fuel otherwise, where's
- 29:21it going to go? Yeah, so hopefully, they've got
- 29:26it all set. Yeah, so this is like, so back
- 29:30in the day, NASA used to do their own testing and they used
- 29:32to make Daily Beast to make, or at least hire people to make
- 29:35their own launch facilities and all that stuff.
- 29:38This is kind of what NASA did back in the 50s and 60s.
- 29:42But now, Oh, it's just a private company going like hey man, we
- 29:45want to launch these Rockets. No one's going to let us do it
- 29:47or like we don't want to we want to do it our own way and you
- 29:51know, we don't want to rent out a pad.
- 29:54Let's just build one, but that means we need to do everything
- 29:57ourselves, right? They need to do everything
- 29:59themselves and they have to, they could like they could buy
- 30:01these fuels and just put them in the tanks.
- 30:03But the cost of that and the number of trucks, they would
- 30:06need to fill one of these tanks is just huge, so they're going
- 30:09to make their own and that means a lot of infrastructure.
- 30:12Yeah. You have to put the
- 30:13infrastructure in place or it's going to be cost prohibitive to
- 30:17launch one of these rockets and they want to save money and make
- 30:20money from these things as opposed to, you know, like it's
- 30:23not just a fun project for SpaceX like third looking it
- 30:27billions and billions trillions of dollars probably in profit
- 30:30eventually. So like getting this system in
- 30:33place now and if you know, eventually they'll upgrade the
- 30:35systems were getting these in place.
- 30:36Now, this is the kind of the highway to the Future that
- 30:39they're building here for sure, as far as you know.
- 30:42I mean y'all. Ultimate goal is to launch when
- 30:44these 42 million dollars, you know, relax now but it's like
- 30:49some of the actual, you know, the actual ship to begin with,
- 30:54right? They want to launch this just by
- 30:56feeling it up and going. Yes, we million dollars worth of
- 30:58fuel off you go. We're now competing with some of
- 31:01the smallest rocks out there the Astro rocket, which will cost
- 31:05even more than ends, then Starship to launch, but that'll
- 31:10take 200 kilograms and Starships going to take on Chance.
- 31:15Yeah, that's the that. Absolute like the difference is
- 31:21in Mets to be a couple million bucks team changes Starship.
- 31:24It it's huge game changer. Speak it again where we heading
- 31:28now we're headed to space, we're heading to the ISS then they
- 31:33just finished a spacewalk on the the Russian move to Russian
- 31:40Crane in a disconnected appears. He's lucky, bro.
- 31:46Nice. Yeah, it's pretty good.
- 31:48Like, it always makes me excited when we see astronauts working
- 31:53in space because it's so slow. Yeah, they get so mellow and
- 32:00like, you know, it takes so long to do anything.
- 32:03I'm going to rewind this a little bit, but it takes so long
- 32:06to do anything in space. Sure.
- 32:08And you don't realize how much time and actually takes to just,
- 32:12you know, to move something or couple feet.
- 32:16Yeah, and so they are preparing the Pierce.
- 32:20Module to be decommissioned. So it's going to be leaving the
- 32:24space station and burn up in the atmosphere along with one of
- 32:27their supply ships and getting ready for the arrival of a whole
- 32:34new module. Which I talked about in a video
- 32:36a couple weeks ago. The module is that Noca which is
- 32:41going to be a basically an all over everything you can module.
- 32:47So it's going to be living quarters going to be science
- 32:49births, it's going To have engines in its going to have Eva
- 32:54facilities as well. It's got everything.
- 32:57So it's basically replacing this and it's going to be attached to
- 33:00the space station until they decommission it decommission
- 33:04space station and whether the Russian space agency takes that
- 33:09their chunk of the ISS and moves it somewhere else or does
- 33:12something with it or whether they just decommission that as
- 33:16well and do over it in favor of their own station, we're not
- 33:19entirely sure. Sure yet.
- 33:21But that's probably what's going to happen.
- 33:23Yeah. Here's a close-up shot like a
- 33:25helmet, cam shy of them, doing some work on that module.
- 33:30Yeah. And there's nothing like I'm
- 33:34still amazed by this to like there's nothing out here, you
- 33:36know. Like the station's here and then
- 33:38here nothing kind of drunk tool. Yeah.
- 33:41Don't drop your tool or tools gone forever don't burn up when
- 33:44it hits the atmosphere so you lose it for good.
- 33:48Yeah, and yeah. Elizabeth.
- 33:50I mean they have to go get another one we laughing about if
- 33:53it does but the canadarm2 with hit by a piece of debris.
- 33:57Yeah last week as well put a big hole in it still working just
- 34:01fine but that's that's just space junk that's flying out
- 34:05there and there's a lot of it. Something we're going to have to
- 34:08worry about Coming up in the future.
- 34:11So how do we get rid of the satellites that aren't being
- 34:14used? The pieces of junk that are up
- 34:17there that are just causing potential problems?
- 34:20Because we're not putting less satellites up there work every
- 34:23month. We put up another 60 from
- 34:25SpaceX, at least so or two weeks, even so, you know, we've
- 34:30got to figure out. What's, what we're going to do
- 34:32with all this space debris? Yes, there's a lot of it.
- 34:35It's a ton of this, and it's going to cause problems.
- 34:37Just did. Just cause the whole.
- 34:39Yeah. If that would have hit and I'm
- 34:42still working. Oh yeah.
- 34:43The lucky that it basically the Canada are deflected it from
- 34:47hitting where people were. Yeah, that too like that.
- 34:49Like that's kind of like they're very, very fortunate that that
- 34:53didn't just like plow through the station, you know.
- 34:56Keep in mind these these pieces of debris or traveling at 17,000
- 34:59miles an hour. Yeah.
- 35:01And the space station is very they didn't they would deorbit
- 35:03so they have to travel that fast.
- 35:05At least the yeah. So yeah that's a little little
- 35:10And what's going on with the space station?
- 35:12Are you don't have any footage or any pictures of the Canada
- 35:15arm but unfortunately is everything roscosmos.
- 35:18Yeah everything it's roscosmos 360 on Twitter so yeah I think
- 35:25that's it for today let's try it let's do it let's try to do a
- 35:27high-five Neil no yeah okay you gotta go down.
- 35:33Oh yeah we did it clapping. Alright thanks everybody take
- 35:39care of You watch this far. Make sure to subscribe.
- 35:41Thanks so much. Well bye-bye.
