- 0:01Speaker 1: We're back with Cracking head coach Lane Lambert. Congratulations on
- 0:04Speaker 1: your first win as head coach of the Crack, and
- 0:07Speaker 1: just take us through that sixty minute performance. You mentioned
- 0:09Speaker 1: after the game the team got better, you liked it
- 0:12Speaker 1: as it went on. What are your overall thoughts in
- 0:14Speaker 1: that performance the other night.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, I thought, again, we had a slow start,
- 0:21Speaker 2: you know, for whatever reason, can maybe pinpoint two or
- 0:25Speaker 2: three things whatever, but we just weren't executing. And so
- 0:29Speaker 2: our goaltender played very well for us when he had
- 0:32Speaker 2: to early on, and I thought as the game went on,
- 0:35Speaker 2: we settled in a little bit better. We were more
- 0:38Speaker 2: sound defensively, we were making some plays, and you know,
- 0:41Speaker 2: the last half of the game, I thought, I thought
- 0:43Speaker 2: we took over the game in the last half, and
- 0:46Speaker 2: that was a nice sign, good, good thing to see.
- 0:48Speaker 2: And the other thing that I enjoyed about the game
- 0:51Speaker 2: was that when we did get the lead, you know, we.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Didn't sit back. We kept on our toes and we
- 0:54Speaker 3: kept pressing forward.
- 0:55Speaker 2: So we had some pretty good opportunities to make it
- 0:58Speaker 2: four and five.
- 0:59Speaker 1: One of those situations going into the second period, those
- 1:03Speaker 1: intermission adjustments. Is this a coach to player conversation. Do
- 1:08Speaker 1: you let the guys kind of figure it out? How
- 1:10Speaker 1: do you manage those situations when you're down a goal,
- 1:14Speaker 1: down a couple of goals, you didn't play your best period?
- 1:17Speaker 1: How do you manage that message from one period.
- 1:20Speaker 3: To the next.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Well, I mean, if you're talking about in between the
- 1:23Speaker 2: first and second period, it was just clear we just weren't.
- 1:26Speaker 1: You know.
- 1:26Speaker 2: It wasn't anything to do with you know, systematical stuff.
- 1:30Speaker 2: It was execution which created opportunities for them. I think
- 1:33Speaker 2: they did a pretty good job of talking amongst themselves.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Obviously I tried.
- 1:38Speaker 2: To calm them down, which you know, which I thought
- 1:42Speaker 2: I felt was important. There was no point in going
- 1:44Speaker 2: in there and you know, giving them more stress, you know.
- 1:49Speaker 2: But then from there, I thought we made some pretty
- 1:52Speaker 2: decent adjustments after the second period, two hundred breakouts which
- 1:55Speaker 2: helped us for the third period.
- 1:56Speaker 3: And those are coach player adjustments.
- 1:58Speaker 1: You talked a lot of the preseas and you still
- 2:00Speaker 1: continue to preach accountability and hard work and that work ethic.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And we look at the second and third period when
- 2:07Speaker 1: the game plan is being executed to its best ability.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Is that the type of hockey that we expect to
- 2:13Speaker 1: see from a Ley Lambert Coast team.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Well, yeah, when it's when it's being executive, you know, again,
- 2:20Speaker 2: things happen. It's a game of mistakes. You know, there's
- 2:25Speaker 2: going to be situations where you know you're maybe not
- 2:28Speaker 2: at your best. But as long as the effort is
- 2:31Speaker 2: there for me and I think that you know, you're
- 2:35Speaker 2: you're understanding what it is we want to do as
- 2:38Speaker 2: a player. You know, I think you'll overall in the
- 2:42Speaker 2: long haul. And it's a long journey. I mean, that
- 2:44Speaker 2: was only one game. You know, you've got to eat
- 2:46Speaker 2: one of the games left. So it was extremely nice
- 2:50Speaker 2: to win the game, but that's over now we have
- 2:52Speaker 2: to move on to tonight. And you know, when you're
- 2:55Speaker 2: when you're seeing guys doing things that that you want
- 2:58Speaker 2: to see done with with an effort level, that's really
- 3:02Speaker 2: all you can ask for and then just you feel
- 3:04Speaker 2: like if you do that, you'll, uh, you'll have more
- 3:07Speaker 2: success than not.
- 3:08Speaker 1: Looking at Vegas, they've taken three or four points so
- 3:11Speaker 1: far this season. Uh, they're a team that the Kraken
- 3:14Speaker 1: have always struggled a little bit against to find their
- 3:17Speaker 1: stride and find their game. But what do you notice
- 3:19Speaker 1: about them and watching their first couple of games and
- 3:21Speaker 1: what they can present to this team tonight.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Well, they're look at they're a talented hockey team.
- 3:27Speaker 2: They're a deep hockey team in terms of a lineup,
- 3:29Speaker 2: in their depth, and they're a big hockey team. And uh,
- 3:34Speaker 2: you know that's gonna be the challenge tonight is really
- 3:39Speaker 2: it's gonna be a lot about you know, winning balance,
- 3:43Speaker 2: keeping them from getting to our net, us getting to that.
- 3:47Speaker 3: He's their big decor. So this is, uh, this is
- 3:52Speaker 3: really the focus is You've got to be prepared to
- 3:56Speaker 3: play a man's game. Team.
- 3:59Speaker 1: I think you more than probably anyone in this building
- 4:02Speaker 1: tonight knows Mitch Marter uh well and best. What about
- 4:07Speaker 1: him makes him such a special player, makes him so
- 4:09Speaker 1: dangerous he comes over from Toronto and signs that long
- 4:12Speaker 1: term deal here in Vegas. What about him just makes
- 4:14Speaker 1: him such an incredible talent player?
- 4:17Speaker 2: Well, he's just he's he's got he's got a he's
- 4:20Speaker 2: got a lot of everything. He's you know, no disrespect
- 4:26Speaker 2: to any other players that have coached.
- 4:27Speaker 3: I've coached a lot of smart players, he is arguably
- 4:31Speaker 3: the smartest.
- 4:32Speaker 2: Uh sees the game, sees things happening before it happens. Uh,
- 4:37Speaker 2: his anticipation anticipation level is extreme, and uh, you know,
- 4:42Speaker 2: he hunts and hounds. He's he's a dynamic hockey player
- 4:46Speaker 2: that does a lot of things well.
- 4:51Speaker 1: To catch any of the Mariners game last night, I
- 4:53Speaker 1: know Josh Naylor at the end, he was in the
- 4:55Speaker 1: locker room in the crack in Third Jersey. I mean,
- 4:58Speaker 1: it's got to feel good to come to a city
- 5:00Speaker 1: and have the fans buzzing early. Yeah, not only for
- 5:03Speaker 1: Krack and hockey, but for the Marriagers as well.
- 5:05Speaker 3: I think it's awesome.
- 5:07Speaker 2: You know, the fact that he you know, he was
- 5:09Speaker 2: here and the and the team, you know, a good
- 5:12Speaker 2: portion of the team and the manager here for the
- 5:15Speaker 2: one of our exhibition games. Uh, you know, they think
- 5:19Speaker 2: they were down. They had a little tour of the
- 5:21Speaker 2: room and and they were loving that. And and the
- 5:25Speaker 2: fact that you know, they're as into our game as
- 5:29Speaker 2: we are into their game and their run right now
- 5:32Speaker 2: is a really cool thing. You know.
- 5:34Speaker 3: It's great for the city, it's great for the fans of.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Both teams, and uh, you know, and again I've I've
- 5:39Speaker 2: talked about it before. The you know, it's a sports
- 5:42Speaker 2: city like the Seahawks, Sounders, you know, Stone, everybody, great
- 5:47Speaker 2: fans support.
- 5:48Speaker 3: So I did watch the game.
- 5:51Speaker 2: It went on a little long for me, you know,
- 5:56Speaker 2: but I did stay invested right until the very end.
- 5:59Speaker 2: And uh, you know, I mean, hats off to them,
- 6:03Speaker 2: and you know, they're moving on and what a great thing.
- 6:06Speaker 3: And it was really awesome to see him with the
- 6:08Speaker 3: jersey on. That's awesome.
