- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:11Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm not a big Magic Mountain fan, so it's
- 0:14Speaker 2: just not one of my favorite places. I remember there
- 0:16Speaker 2: used to be a lot of gang bangers at Magic Mountain.
- 0:19Speaker 2: Not so much anymore. I'm securing gang gang bangers. Gang bangers, yeah,
- 0:26Speaker 2: gang bangers.
- 0:27Speaker 1: And now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen. Here's
- 0:32Speaker 1: Bill Handle.
- 0:35Speaker 2: All right. It is a Thursday morning, May fourteenth. Good morning, everybody,
- 0:41Speaker 2: handle here and the entire morning crew. As we start
- 0:45Speaker 2: from the show, it looks like the entire team is here.
- 0:50Speaker 2: I'm not gonna say hello to everybody ahead me come
- 0:52Speaker 2: back and say hello to me, because that's just too
- 0:54Speaker 2: too so Neil Kono, Amy will and and good morning.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Wow, you've been doing this for thirty two years. When
- 1:03Speaker 3: did you decide it was stupid this morning?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Oh? Just as I went on, because we spend too
- 1:07Speaker 2: much time. How are you? I'm good? Things are good? Yeah,
- 1:10Speaker 2: things are great. Okay, just I do that on Handle
- 1:13Speaker 2: on the Law all the time when they start with
- 1:16Speaker 2: well how are you, and I go horrible or yes,
- 1:19Speaker 2: move on. I hate those crutches. And here we are
- 1:22Speaker 2: as a crutch. How are you is inevitably the crutch,
- 1:27Speaker 2: and that's go right into everything, right, Yeah, I just
- 1:30Speaker 2: go right in. Someone someone calls me, I pick up
- 1:34Speaker 2: the phone and go continue. That's it, you know, it's
- 1:37Speaker 2: all you have to say. Also, if you go on
- 1:39Speaker 2: my voicemail, my personal one, which nobody has, including the
- 1:44Speaker 2: staff here, instead of I'll call you back my earliest
- 1:47Speaker 2: convenience or thanks for calling, and all I say is
- 1:51Speaker 2: Bill Handlet, who doesn't know to leave a message?
- 1:55Speaker 4: I don't know. None of us ever call you.
- 1:57Speaker 2: That's true, that's true. Absolutely no one ever calls me,
- 2:02Speaker 2: which is flying. All right, let me see what we out.
- 2:06Speaker 2: Oh else, let's talk today about what's going on in China,
- 2:12Speaker 2: in Beijing where the president, our president and the Chinese
- 2:16Speaker 2: President Ji are having their meeting, their summit, of which,
- 2:23Speaker 2: as I said yesterday, Trump is out of his league
- 2:26Speaker 2: with this guy. He is out of his league as
- 2:29Speaker 2: far as the President is concerned. It's all panoply and
- 2:34Speaker 2: it's all let's just think of how terrific he is,
- 2:38Speaker 2: give him a lot of kudos, make it a very
- 2:42Speaker 2: big event that he comes. Now let's start talking about
- 2:46Speaker 2: some real topics and not really happening.
- 2:49Speaker 4: Do we have anything? You know, the negotiation is the
- 2:53Speaker 4: one who's willing to walk away, right, That's how it's
- 2:55Speaker 4: always said. If you're willing to walk away, then you
- 2:57Speaker 4: have the upper hand. What does China need from us? One?
- 3:00Speaker 2: From US? Well, China needs the market because China sells
- 3:05Speaker 2: to US in abnormally large categories of goods. It needs
- 3:11Speaker 2: that for sure. It used to need technology, although it
- 3:15Speaker 2: is ramping up so much quicker than the United States
- 3:18Speaker 2: is in all areas of technology. I don't know if
- 3:22Speaker 2: you watched ABC News last night, there was David Muir
- 3:28Speaker 2: was doing a segment in one of the halls convention halls,
- 3:34Speaker 2: and there was the robot that China has produced one
- 3:38Speaker 2: of the companies. That robot, which looks very much like
- 3:41Speaker 2: a human, is dancing and it ice skates and it
- 3:47Speaker 2: roller skates and it goes on its back and flips
- 3:50Speaker 2: back up breakdancing. I mean, this thing is unbelievable and
- 3:54Speaker 2: does dishes, and I mean we're not even close to that.
- 3:58Speaker 2: So I'll talk later on about what's going on in China.
- 4:01Speaker 2: And it's coming out like I suspected, and that is
- 4:05Speaker 2: the President g is telling how terrific Trump is and
- 4:08Speaker 2: how wonderful you are, and how important you are, and
- 4:11Speaker 2: how important Chinese and American relations are. Bottom line is
- 4:16Speaker 2: she wants Taiwan. That's it. Yeah, it's that simple. That's
- 4:21Speaker 2: where it breaks down to, the unification of China is
- 4:24Speaker 2: really important to him. And nothing was mentioned about that
- 4:27Speaker 2: on the American side. Nothing just blew right past it.
- 4:31Speaker 2: And the Strait of Horror moves. She said, we want
- 4:34Speaker 2: the Strait of Horror moves opened up. That's very important. Yeah,
- 4:37Speaker 2: what do you plan on doing about it? Not a word,
- 4:41Speaker 2: just we want it open. There's a lot of babble there.
- 4:44Speaker 2: So anyway, we'll talk more about that. And matter of fact,
- 4:47Speaker 2: that was our lead story right here handle on the
- 4:51Speaker 2: news with Amy Neil and me.
- 4:56Speaker 5: China.
- 4:58Speaker 2: We just did that. Try it. Yeah, yeah, China, a
- 5:02Speaker 2: lot of China the lead story. You know it is, no,
- 5:05Speaker 2: but I said that was the lead story China. See
- 5:10Speaker 2: just listening to the music.
- 5:11Speaker 3: Is that what it is?
- 5:12Speaker 2: No? Just listening to music? What's our lead story? Kono China?
- 5:16Speaker 2: See I rest my case.
- 5:20Speaker 4: Oh boy, that does that robot do talk show.
- 5:24Speaker 2: Hosts far better than this one does. I'll tell you
- 5:27Speaker 2: that Okay, Moving on.
- 5:33Speaker 5: La maybe pushing to prevent pay raises. The La City
- 5:37Speaker 5: Council has moved to potentially delay that thirty dollars hourly
- 5:42Speaker 5: minimum wage for hotel and airport workers. It might be
- 5:47Speaker 5: needed to stave off a business backed ballot initiative to
- 5:52Speaker 5: eliminate the city's gross receipts tax. Okay, so the ordinance
- 5:57Speaker 5: was first approved to raise it to thirty dollars an
- 6:01Speaker 5: hour by twenty twenty eight, in time for the Olympics. Well,
- 6:04Speaker 5: now they're saying, maybe we'll push that back until twenty thirty.
- 6:08Speaker 5: That came after airline and hotel businesses got enough signatures
- 6:13Speaker 5: to qualify a measure for the November third ballot that
- 6:16Speaker 5: would repeal the city's gross receipts tax, which, if approved
- 6:20Speaker 5: by voters, would strip about seven hundred and forty million
- 6:23Speaker 5: dollars from the city's general fund.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, this is a very big deal. This is be
- 6:30Speaker 2: careful what you wish for kind of story. And that
- 6:35Speaker 2: is this hourly wage thirty dollars only for hotel workers
- 6:40Speaker 2: and only for people at the airport. The rest of
- 6:44Speaker 2: the employees out there, of course, are chopped liver. Matter
- 6:47Speaker 2: of fact, that's exactly what they are chopped.
- 6:49Speaker 4: This supposed to be just for the Olympics.
- 6:52Speaker 3: No, we're supposed to be in time for the Olympics.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Yeah. And so what the business owners did is simply
- 6:59Speaker 2: set up up this proposition that's going forward. It's emotion
- 7:05Speaker 2: and it's going forward. That is going to cut that
- 7:08Speaker 2: or at least just delay it and just actually, uh,
- 7:12Speaker 2: it's a move to cut that by saying gross receipts,
- 7:16Speaker 2: gross receipts for anybody that works in LA. That is disgusting.
- 7:20Speaker 2: It's another tax on business. Let's tax business. And I
- 7:24Speaker 2: am in the middle of one of these with LA City. Uh.
- 7:26Speaker 2: They keep on insisting that I pay a gross receipts
- 7:29Speaker 2: tax for my business, of which I have never worked
- 7:35Speaker 2: in Los Angeles ever, broadcasts from Burbank. My offices, my
- 7:42Speaker 2: I broadcasts from Burbank. I'm registered in Burbank. I moved
- 7:45Speaker 2: to Orange County where now my office is where I
- 7:48Speaker 2: might quote business resides. I'm on my fifth letter from
- 7:52Speaker 2: these clowns saying please provide information. They just want what
- 7:57Speaker 2: LA hates business. They treat that clearly, just don't do
- 8:00Speaker 2: business in LA. And so it's yeah, they're nuts. They
- 8:03Speaker 2: really are. And so there's going to be a big
- 8:07Speaker 2: fight because if this thing passes, seven and forty million
- 8:10Speaker 2: dollars walks out the door, and that is a little
- 8:13Speaker 2: problematic for the city of Los Angeles, that's for sure.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Hey, justin just listeners sent in a talkback that says, Hey, Bill,
- 8:21Speaker 4: it's easy for China had to have great tech when
- 8:23Speaker 4: they just steal everyone's information and intellectual properties.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Not anymore. Not anymore. Now, once you steal them all,
- 8:31Speaker 2: then you move forward. Well, they've developed their own. They
- 8:35Speaker 2: didn't steal our robotics for example. They didn't steal our
- 8:38Speaker 2: technology for electric cars for example. I mean they developed
- 8:41Speaker 2: their own. Hey, by the way, that's not to say
- 8:43Speaker 2: that China didn't in a major way. I mean they're espionage.
- 8:47Speaker 2: Corporate espionage is insane, but they need it less and
- 8:51Speaker 2: less and less. I mean they are developing their own.
- 8:54Speaker 4: Well, let's see what Elon does.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Well, he's up to his eyeballs with China, but has
- 9:00Speaker 2: so much stuff manufacturer in China. His batteries are manufactured
- 9:03Speaker 2: in China, a lot of If his solar panels are manufactured,
- 9:08Speaker 2: I don't know. Does Elon must do solar panels don't.
- 9:11Speaker 4: Yeah, he's working on the clear ones I think, or
- 9:12Speaker 4: the ones that looked.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Like that and all be manufactured in China.
- 9:17Speaker 4: Already, Vance came out. Vice President's JD. Vance admitted Wednesday
- 9:22Speaker 4: that the Trump administration has a lot of work to
- 9:25Speaker 4: do on the economy. This, of course comes after pushback
- 9:30Speaker 4: from Trump's remarks about American finances and not thinking about them.
- 9:35Speaker 4: I think that's kind of stupid. He was talking about
- 9:39Speaker 4: the war. He does not speak well. He should have
- 9:41Speaker 4: come out and said, listen, this is so important that
- 9:44Speaker 4: it's more important than the finances in the short term.
- 9:47Speaker 2: But he didn't. He just no, you know, he was Yeah,
- 9:49Speaker 2: you're right, he misspoke. He said on his way to
- 9:52Speaker 2: Air Force one to fly to Andrews Joint Base to
- 9:56Speaker 2: go to China, he was asked by a reporter and
- 9:59Speaker 2: he responded he was not motivated by American's financial situation
- 10:04Speaker 2: to make that deal to end the war with Iran.
- 10:07Speaker 2: That was far more important. That's all he was looking at.
- 10:10Speaker 2: So a quote, I don't think about American's financial situation.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I don't think about anybody. I think about one thing.
- 10:16Speaker 2: We cannot let Iran have a nuclear weapon. That's all
- 10:19Speaker 2: and I agree with you. I mean, that's just him,
- 10:21Speaker 2: you know, shooting from the hip, that's how he talks.
- 10:23Speaker 4: And Van said he was misinterpreted. Ultimately, Yeah, say he's
- 10:28Speaker 4: to me. He was saying, this is so important that
- 10:31Speaker 4: it transcends right well.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Not for people who can't afford gasoline right now, but
- 10:36Speaker 2: that is a hand in hand. Now. He wants to
- 10:41Speaker 2: end the war and that's why he's in China. That
- 10:43Speaker 2: was the major reason China isn't gonna do crap China
- 10:48Speaker 2: says they they they wouldn't even admit they're willing to
- 10:52Speaker 2: pressure Iran to open up the straits. Nothing. All she
- 10:58Speaker 2: said is our relationship is important and we would like
- 11:03Speaker 2: the straight open That's it. And then, of course you're
- 11:06Speaker 2: the greatest president that ever lived. You are wonderful, you
- 11:08Speaker 2: are fantastic. Let's have you be at the airport when
- 11:14Speaker 2: you come down those steps. We're gonna make it a
- 11:16Speaker 2: terrific thing. We're gonna have three hundred kids waving American flags.
- 11:19Speaker 2: They had the they had a group of kids singing
- 11:21Speaker 2: the Star Spangled banner.
- 11:23Speaker 4: They sure do know how to.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Put on a show.
- 11:27Speaker 2: Yeah, put on they do. And that's the and that's
- 11:29Speaker 2: what works with Trump. And that's truly what works with Trump.
- 11:34Speaker 4: Why do you make us wave flags with your face
- 11:38Speaker 4: on them when you come into the studio.
- 11:40Speaker 2: Because that's different.
- 11:42Speaker 4: That's what works with you. That's different. Yeah, right, this wave,
- 11:46Speaker 4: mister handle, you'll treat mister handle. Is that a new
- 11:49Speaker 4: hair on the top of your head, mister handle, Let's
- 11:51Speaker 4: take a break, mister handle.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Winding down or ramping up? Russia's President Putin had just
- 11:58Speaker 5: said that he thought the war with Ukraine was pretty
- 12:01Speaker 5: much winding down, and then Russia fired at least eight
- 12:06Speaker 5: hundred drones in a massive daytime barrage on about twenty
- 12:09Speaker 5: regions of Ukraine. At least six people have been killed,
- 12:13Speaker 5: dozens wounded, including children. They had apartment buildings, all kinds
- 12:17Speaker 5: of targets. It was one of the longest attacks by
- 12:19Speaker 5: Moscow in the four year old war. According to President Zelenski,
- 12:24Speaker 5: it lasted for hours on the capital city of Kiev,
- 12:27Speaker 5: the western city of Elviv near Poland, and the port
- 12:31Speaker 5: of Odessa on the Black Sea.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Yeah, certainly winding down or almost over right, that's what
- 12:38Speaker 2: he was just saying. Now, I know, how about that?
- 12:40Speaker 2: How about that we certainly want to believe putin, don't we?
- 12:46Speaker 4: South Carolina Supreme Court just yesterday overturned the disgraced attorney
- 12:51Speaker 4: Alex murdav and his double murder conviction and life sentence
- 12:56Speaker 4: and ordered a new trial in the killings of his
- 12:58Speaker 4: wife and son. And this came down We talked about
- 13:02Speaker 4: this a little bit yesterday came down to the court
- 13:06Speaker 4: seeing that he was denied his right to a fair
- 13:10Speaker 4: trial because a clerk of some kind, Rebecca or Becky
- 13:15Speaker 4: Hill improperly or improper external influences on the jury and
- 13:23Speaker 4: the concept of putting her fingers on the scales of
- 13:27Speaker 4: justice makes them want to go through this. Akin. It
- 13:30Speaker 4: doesn't mean the guy is going to get off scott
- 13:32Speaker 4: free or anything.
- 13:32Speaker 2: No, No, A couple things about that. First of all,
- 13:35Speaker 2: as she is escorting people into the jury room, she
- 13:39Speaker 2: is telling jurors watch out for what Murdoch says. Don't
- 13:43Speaker 2: believe everything he says. Look at his body language as
- 13:47Speaker 2: you come in when he testifies. Straight out, she said
- 13:50Speaker 2: that to the jurors, Wow, I know you're looking shocked.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I mean. And this is where the court went completely
- 13:57Speaker 2: crazy on that. This was a unanim the decision, so
- 14:01Speaker 2: his conviction is overturned. Now with the prosecution has the
- 14:06Speaker 2: choice of retrying him or not. In some cases they
- 14:09Speaker 2: don't retry if, for example, if it's close the jury
- 14:13Speaker 2: decision is closed five to four, for example, they go, no,
- 14:16Speaker 2: we're not going to retry it. This one. The jury
- 14:19Speaker 2: spent three hours out there and just and nailed him,
- 14:23Speaker 2: and so they're going to retry. By the way, he's
- 14:25Speaker 2: not walking out the door. He got convicted of all
- 14:27Speaker 2: of those financial crimes for embezzling all the money from
- 14:30Speaker 2: his law firm. So he's already doing decades in jail.
- 14:34Speaker 2: I mean, he's fifty seven. If nothing happens, he'll die
- 14:37Speaker 2: in prison. But there's going to be another trial unless
- 14:41Speaker 2: it's too expensive. A lot of times the prosecution doesn't
- 14:45Speaker 2: retry someone because the cost to the county can be
- 14:49Speaker 2: astronomical in these trials.
- 14:54Speaker 5: Second body has been recovered. Remember the two soldiers went
- 14:59Speaker 5: missing in Morocco earlier this month during a break from
- 15:05Speaker 5: an annual training exercise with US and NATO Forces. Specialist
- 15:11Speaker 5: Mariah Collington's body was found just recovered in a coastal
- 15:16Speaker 5: cove about five hundred meters away from where she and
- 15:20Speaker 5: another soldier went into the water last week.
- 15:24Speaker 2: As you notice, well, of course you did. But let's
- 15:27Speaker 2: note the amount of time and effort that the military
- 15:31Speaker 2: took in recovering her body, knowing she didn't survive. But
- 15:35Speaker 2: that goes to show you how service people. We don't
- 15:39Speaker 2: leave anyone behind. That's just the way it works in
- 15:43Speaker 2: the military. All right, I think we have time for
- 15:47Speaker 2: one more at least before we take our break.
- 15:49Speaker 4: Sure, La Mayor Karen Bass continues to hold what looks
- 15:53Speaker 4: like a lead among likely voters in her bid for reelection,
- 15:56Speaker 4: So not a huge margin and it probably won't avoid
- 16:01Speaker 4: a runoff with either Spencer Pratt, which has an interesting backing,
- 16:07Speaker 4: or the horrible Na Ramen. Sorry, did you did you
- 16:12Speaker 4: see yesterday? Councilwoman Monica Rodriguez, who is a friend of
- 16:18Speaker 4: the show, friend of mine, crush n the I ramen
- 16:22Speaker 4: about wanting to stop people from having barbecues on Red
- 16:26Speaker 4: Flag days. It was comical, just crush it and mentioning
- 16:31Speaker 4: the fact that more fires, there's other fires, like you know,
- 16:36Speaker 4: homeless fires and the like that are more problematic than
- 16:39Speaker 4: people having carne sada on a Sunday.
- 16:42Speaker 2: You know, we, you and I do these broadcasts and
- 16:46Speaker 2: you do them. In the last when we did it
- 16:49Speaker 2: was barbecue at my house for Katarina's Club. Let's move
- 16:52Speaker 2: that broadcast to Red Flag Days.
- 16:56Speaker 4: In front of Whitey right of First Street there at
- 16:59Speaker 4: City Hall.
- 17:00Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and literally put a red flag out there
- 17:02Speaker 2: and grilling and we barbecue.
- 17:05Speaker 4: You know what, we should do a barbecue on the
- 17:08Speaker 4: lawn of City Hall on the Alley Flag Day.
- 17:11Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, they're going to let us do that. Look
- 17:15Speaker 2: at the choices we have, not much. It's a little tough, okay.
- 17:20Speaker 5: Billionaire bails out billionaire. Former California governor's candidate and former
- 17:26Speaker 5: backer of Eric Swolwell before the whole scandal, Stephen Klubeck
- 17:31Speaker 5: was arrested in West Hollywood. He turned himself in at
- 17:35Speaker 5: an La County Sheriff's Department station. He had an outstanding
- 17:39Speaker 5: felony a warrant for alleged violations of dissuading or intimidating
- 17:45Speaker 5: witnesses or victims of a crime. And that is that
- 17:49Speaker 5: he is has allegedly tried to intimidate witnesses who were
- 17:53Speaker 5: going to testify against his Fiancee's.
- 17:57Speaker 2: A weird story.
- 17:57Speaker 5: Yeah, Adva Lovey is accused of meeting men online and
- 18:02Speaker 5: then burglarizing their homes several of them.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Yeah, and extorting wealthy older men and younger women. Okay,
- 18:13Speaker 2: And they say she posed as a girlfriend, travel companion
- 18:17Speaker 2: of people, sole cash, credit cards, high end designer items.
- 18:21Speaker 2: And he interesting guy. You know, he was on our show,
- 18:26Speaker 2: remember when I when I interviewed him, very interesting fellow,
- 18:29Speaker 2: and while he was running for governor and then dropped
- 18:32Speaker 2: out of the race. So we're gonna find what happens
- 18:36Speaker 2: with that. I found him fascinating and hugely successful, self
- 18:39Speaker 2: made man. But most billionaires are.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Already from the people who brought you Operation Epic Fury
- 18:49Speaker 4: now comes Operation Sledgehammer. So the US military considering officially
- 18:57Speaker 4: renaming the war with Iran to Operation sledge if this
- 19:01Speaker 4: current ceasefire collapses, and of course President Donald Trump decides
- 19:06Speaker 4: to restart. You remember he turned off the clock so
- 19:09Speaker 4: he wouldn't have to. Yeah, that's sixty day mark or whatever.
- 19:14Speaker 2: Yeah, there was a lot of controversy on that one too. Now,
- 19:17Speaker 2: this has to do with a sixty sixty day War
- 19:19Speaker 2: Powers Act, where the president within sixty days has to
- 19:23Speaker 2: ask Congress to continue on with any military intervention. And
- 19:28Speaker 2: so Marco Rubio said that the operation the Epic Fury
- 19:35Speaker 2: is over. He said it's over, and so okay, it's over.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Now let's go with Operation Sledgehammer. And just before that
- 19:43Speaker 2: runs out, you're going to see Operation weed Whacker, and
- 19:48Speaker 2: then before that runs out, you're going to see it's
- 19:51Speaker 2: just going to keep on going. So the rock paper scissors, Yeah, yeah,
- 20:00Speaker 2: it's just crazy all smart play. If it's legal to
- 20:03Speaker 2: just say we changed it, right, it's not. It's not
- 20:07Speaker 2: like the other claim, yes, where they reset the clock
- 20:10Speaker 2: each time. And the other claim, is this a cease fire?
- 20:14Speaker 2: Is that considered the ending of the war. No, it's
- 20:18Speaker 2: an end.
- 20:19Speaker 3: They said it was a pause.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah, okay, but a pause under the War Powers Act.
- 20:24Speaker 2: There isn't a word under the War Powers Act that
- 20:26Speaker 2: talks about a pause. It's sixty days, thank you. If
- 20:30Speaker 2: you go to day sixty one with any kind of
- 20:32Speaker 2: military intervention that we're talking about like this, you have
- 20:36Speaker 2: to get Congress to approve it. Of course, that's bouncing
- 20:38Speaker 2: back and forth.
- 20:39Speaker 3: I have a question for you.
- 20:40Speaker 5: Did Operation Desert Storm, that was the first time we
- 20:44Speaker 5: went into a rack, did that have congressional approval?
- 20:47Speaker 3: It did?
- 20:47Speaker 6: Oh?
- 20:47Speaker 2: You bet?
- 20:47Speaker 5: It did, okay, Yeah, they went from Desert Shield to
- 20:51Speaker 5: Desert Storm.
- 20:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Well Desert Shield was the precursor and Desert Storm
- 20:56Speaker 2: came in big time. Yeah. I mean there were sixty
- 20:59Speaker 2: countries involved in a Desert does storm and the number
- 21:04Speaker 2: of allies that Bush was able to put together was extraordinary.
- 21:10Speaker 3: Students on Sandy and Luna's side, we love this.
- 21:13Speaker 5: So, as you know, there are a couple of little
- 21:16Speaker 5: eagles up in a nest and Big Bear and their
- 21:19Speaker 5: moms are Jackie and mom and dad are Jackie in
- 21:21Speaker 5: Shadow and they've been I know right, they've been nesting
- 21:24Speaker 5: there for years and just a few months ago. It's
- 21:29Speaker 5: actually something that Sandy Steers, who was the head of
- 21:32Speaker 5: Friends of Big Bear Valley, was really pushing for before
- 21:34Speaker 5: she passed away, was to raise enough money to buy
- 21:40Speaker 5: some land so it wouldn't be developed. And now there
- 21:46Speaker 5: were finding that students are getting involved, and so Sarah
- 21:48Speaker 5: Stinson's science class at John Baldwin Elementary School up in
- 21:52Speaker 5: Danville is apparently obsessed with the eagles. They found out
- 21:56Speaker 5: that their habitat was at risk, and so they have
- 22:01Speaker 5: been watching the eagles and now they're taking action. They've
- 22:06Speaker 5: been doing bake sales and selling lemonade and trying to
- 22:09Speaker 5: raise money. They also are writing two celebrities and influencers
- 22:13Speaker 5: and even send a letter to Taylor Swift to try
- 22:15Speaker 5: to get her to back it.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Of course, maybe they need.
- 22:19Speaker 2: Yeah, there's an easy end around here because the developer
- 22:22Speaker 2: goes ahead, is allowed to develop, and like any development,
- 22:26Speaker 2: the city or the county says, okay, we'll let you
- 22:28Speaker 2: do it, and you have to set aside thirty percent
- 22:30Speaker 2: for low income housing. So in this case it's you
- 22:33Speaker 2: have to set aside thirty percent for low income housing
- 22:35Speaker 2: and one condo for the Eagles as long as they
- 22:40Speaker 2: have housing. See, it's an easy way out. I'm telling
- 22:44Speaker 2: you I should be in city government. I honest, I'm
- 22:47Speaker 2: just so good at this stuff.
- 22:50Speaker 4: California AG, of course, General Attorney General rather or Rob Bonta,
- 22:58Speaker 4: sent a letter to FIFA demanding answer over the World
- 23:00Speaker 4: Cup ticket prices. His words were potentially misleading, is what
- 23:06Speaker 4: he called it. In this letter, he requested a lot
- 23:10Speaker 4: of different information from FIFA. He wants to look and
- 23:13Speaker 4: assess the potential violation of California law because you've got
- 23:16Speaker 4: a lot of fans that are unhappy to say the
- 23:20Speaker 4: least with FIFA practices surrounding ticket sales of the twenty
- 23:25Speaker 4: twenty sixth World Cup takes place from June eleventh to
- 23:28Speaker 4: July nineteenth, So it's coming up, and it's in the
- 23:32Speaker 4: United States, it's in Mexico, it's in Canada.
- 23:35Speaker 2: So yeah, but look what they did. What they did,
- 23:38Speaker 2: they didn't sell specific seats. They sold a general seating
- 23:43Speaker 2: area and sold the tickets. And that is the problem. Now.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I have never heard of a sport event, sporting event
- 23:51Speaker 2: where when you paid money for a ticket, you didn't
- 23:54Speaker 2: get the seat.
- 23:57Speaker 4: You get general admission.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Yeah, general general admission is different. Well, I and you're
- 24:03Speaker 2: involved at so far. When you buy general admission tickets,
- 24:07Speaker 2: for example, are those specific seats or they are sort
- 24:11Speaker 2: of first come, first serve. Usually it depends on the event.
- 24:15Speaker 6: It's a specific seat usually, But there are concerts that
- 24:18Speaker 6: have field You can go on the field, and that's
- 24:20Speaker 6: not a seat.
- 24:22Speaker 2: My guess. My guess is when it comes to a
- 24:25Speaker 2: soccer match, you can't actually play it with people on
- 24:29Speaker 2: the field. I was just saying, yeah, exactly, No, I
- 24:35Speaker 2: get it. No, I know that's true.
- 24:36Speaker 4: I mean concerts they do, Yeah, so would that be
- 24:39Speaker 4: general the field tickets are those just GA considered GA.
- 24:43Speaker 3: Or oh there can't be field tickets.
- 24:45Speaker 4: No, no, I get it. But for a concert, Oh, for.
- 24:48Speaker 3: A concert, yeah, they send like they sell the mosh pit.
- 24:52Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, and you stand up for you know, sixteen
- 24:55Speaker 2: hours to get in and you're there at what six
- 24:59Speaker 2: thirty and the concert starts at eight pm and you're
- 25:02Speaker 2: standing the whole time. Yeah, those general emission tickets are delighted.
- 25:07Speaker 2: But I doubt that FIFA is going to get away
- 25:09Speaker 2: with this. I think Bonte has a very very good point,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and I can't imagine that they would sell tickets for
- 25:16Speaker 2: thousands of dollars and say here's the general area you
- 25:20Speaker 2: sit in.
- 25:21Speaker 3: I think the Olympics are doing the same thing though. Yeah.
- 25:23Speaker 6: And some football games do have standing room only tickets
- 25:27Speaker 6: at the ends behind like the end zones and on
- 25:32Speaker 6: those levels upper levels.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Okay, anyway, so much for that.
- 25:38Speaker 5: The Fed chair is confirmed. The Senate has confirmed Kevin
- 25:42Speaker 5: Walsh as the Federal Reserve's next chair in a fifty
- 25:47Speaker 5: four to forty five vote. Senator John Fetterman of Pennsylvania
- 25:52Speaker 5: the only Democrat to support worsh So the hitch.
- 25:56Speaker 3: On This is.
- 25:58Speaker 5: One of the reasons that Trump wont and Jerome Powell
- 26:01Speaker 5: out is because he wouldn't reduce interest rates. But now
- 26:07Speaker 5: Trump's ally Steve Bannon says, fresh inflation data makes it
- 26:11Speaker 5: highly unlikely that Worsh is going to have the flexibility
- 26:13Speaker 5: to cut the rates.
- 26:15Speaker 2: Well, how about flexibility versus hey, you cut the interest rates. Yes,
- 26:19Speaker 2: mister President, I will do exactly that. One of the
- 26:23Speaker 2: reasons that Powell got in trouble because he just wouldn't
- 26:27Speaker 2: agree to everything that the president asked for. And so Worsh,
- 26:32Speaker 2: here's the problem. War said, Oh yo, I believe in
- 26:34Speaker 2: the FED being independent, just like Robert Kennedy said, Oh no,
- 26:38Speaker 2: I believe in the vaccine programs. I would never change
- 26:42Speaker 2: it around. Pam Bondy, Oh no. I believe in the
- 26:44Speaker 2: independence of the Department of Justice, on and on and on.
- 26:49Speaker 2: So let's see what Worsh does. Oh and let's not
- 26:52Speaker 2: forget Kavanaugh when he was nominated for the bench and confirmed.
- 26:57Speaker 2: I believe in Roe versus Wade. I think precedent is
- 27:01Speaker 2: very important. Okay, let's move on and see the rest
- 27:07Speaker 2: of the appointees and what happens. There's no more independence
- 27:11Speaker 2: left in the executive branch doesn't exist. You know, parts
- 27:15Speaker 2: of the branch of the executive branch that had firewalls,
- 27:18Speaker 2: that had independence, the FED very independent Department of Justice,
- 27:22Speaker 2: the FBI that were quasi independent where the President should
- 27:26Speaker 2: not get involved in and did not get involved prior
- 27:30Speaker 2: to today. Recognize that there should be some independence. It's
- 27:34Speaker 2: gone finished, done, okay.
- 27:40Speaker 4: A federal employee union is suing the Department of Agriculture
- 27:46Speaker 4: in part on First Amendment grounds. This was started on
- 27:50Speaker 4: May thirteen to accusing USDA Secretary Brook Rawlins of illegally
- 27:55Speaker 4: proselytizing the agency's workers. So the complaint is a edging
- 28:00Speaker 4: that Rollins sent a bunch of religious emails to USDA
- 28:04Speaker 4: employees since becoming secretary. Gosh, so just a little over
- 28:09Speaker 4: a year ago February twenty twenty fifth or twenty five,
- 28:12Speaker 4: rather including Independence Day emails calling for God's protection and
- 28:17Speaker 4: favor towards the United States.
- 28:21Speaker 2: That's and God gave us the greatest gift of possible,
- 28:24Speaker 2: the gift of his son.
- 28:25Speaker 4: And that to me gets different. The generic stuff is like,
- 28:29Speaker 4: but yeah, when you start getting into the very specific stuff,
- 28:32Speaker 4: you start going it shall be in any workplace.
- 28:35Speaker 2: No pitching Jesus as the answer in a governmental missive
- 28:41Speaker 2: and I don't if you read it. But the complaint
- 28:43Speaker 2: was first filed by Schmooley Feinberg, who had a tough
- 28:47Speaker 2: time with this.
- 28:48Speaker 4: That's not usually other religions. It's usually atheists that get
- 28:54Speaker 4: their hair in a bunch.
- 28:57Speaker 5: There's a speedo controversy at school. A water polo player's
- 29:02Speaker 5: mom is calling on two Temecula school board members to resign.
- 29:09Speaker 5: She's accused the school board members of sexualizing members of
- 29:13Speaker 5: the boys water polo team.
- 29:15Speaker 3: So here's where it started.
- 29:16Speaker 5: Temecula Valley High School water polo team had meets one day.
- 29:21Speaker 5: In between their meets, they went to a baseball game.
- 29:24Speaker 5: During that time, they had the letters B E, A
- 29:27Speaker 5: R S on their chests and at point they dropped
- 29:31Speaker 5: their pants to reveal school colored brown and yellow swimwear
- 29:37Speaker 5: their speedos and yeah yeah, And then one of the
- 29:41Speaker 5: school board members said, are our teams now and only
- 29:44Speaker 5: fans crew? And then another the school board members weighed in,
- 29:49Speaker 5: and so now the the mom of the water polo
- 29:52Speaker 5: player wants the school board members to resign.
- 29:55Speaker 2: Yeah, of course, I mean, let's make a big deal
- 29:57Speaker 2: out of nothing. Those spiedos are kind of interesting. I
- 30:00Speaker 2: can see them when you're little swim meets et cetera.
- 30:04Speaker 2: But man, speedo's on the beach. I've always wondered about
- 30:08Speaker 2: that because you know, guys wearing speedos, I mean you
- 30:11Speaker 2: can literally see every pimple on their scrot Oh, I
- 30:15Speaker 2: mean it's you know, those are speedos six fifty seven
- 30:20Speaker 2: scrot time.
- 30:21Speaker 3: Check got a late start today?
- 30:23Speaker 2: We got a late start, Yes, a late scrot charge
- 30:26Speaker 2: or a scrot mentioned Yes. Okay, guys, we are completely oh,
- 30:31Speaker 2: just really quickly. One last one, ok says Nazi. Yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 2: because it says Nazi. We always go for the Nazi reference, all.
- 30:38Speaker 4: Right, from scrote to Nazi. A leader of Eastern European
- 30:42Speaker 4: Neo Nazi group was sentenced to fifteen years in federal
- 30:46Speaker 4: prison for soliciting violent attacks against the Jewish community and
- 30:50Speaker 4: members of minority groups. And now this included a crazy
- 30:54Speaker 4: scheme to distribute poisoned candy to children during the holiday Wow.
- 31:02Speaker 2: And the judge, I mean, you're gonna nail him. The
- 31:04Speaker 2: judge did say, hey, that's okay for Halloween, but come
- 31:09Speaker 2: on during the rest of the year. Okay, We're done.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Fair enough. Coming up the latest from the President's visit
- 31:17Speaker 2: to China, and I'm gonna talk about all the important
- 31:21Speaker 2: things that came out of this. Yes, this is KFI
- 31:25Speaker 2: AM sixty. You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show.
