- 0:43Speaker 1: some money on you only come out for some money back.
- 0:51Speaker 1: We didn't get snaps. We just didn't get to do snaps.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Welcome to the Ball Alert because I'm not a little Yeah,
- 1:02Speaker 1: I never wanted to be. Oh that's all you host
- 1:06Speaker 1: in the show with us, okay, and we're gonna get
- 1:07Speaker 1: in your business a little bit out of right. Okay,
- 1:12Speaker 1: are you guys ready? Congratulations? Keiki Palmer and Darren's Jackson
- 1:19Speaker 1: on the new born baby please get to snatch for
- 1:21Speaker 1: that real quick. Uh. Leotis Leeho and Rid and Rilton,
- 1:28Speaker 1: Damn and d get it right or get it wrong.
- 1:32Speaker 1: That's the last name. Yea, his name is Leo and
- 1:35Speaker 1: Drillton and Jackson. I am saying jack yes, because that's
- 1:40Speaker 1: the Jackson. Congratulations Leo Scott Damn is having a baby.
- 1:47Speaker 1: It's hard. It's hard, hard one but sound black woman? Okay, okay.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Tamra Hall grills Larson Pippin on dating Michael Jordan's son. Thoughts,
- 1:59Speaker 1: did you guys see the clip? Why would you date
- 2:02Speaker 1: Michael Jordan's son? I didn't planet like that. It wasn't
- 2:06Speaker 1: like it was planned like that. I think we were
- 2:07Speaker 1: just together a lot with our friends and it just
- 2:10Speaker 1: so happened. Listen, larsa b be pimping. I mean, that's
- 2:13Speaker 1: that's all I can say. Like she she ain't tricking,
- 2:16Speaker 1: if you got it. She did say that she was
- 2:18Speaker 1: pregnant majority of her twenties. Yeah, yes, she did say that.
- 2:21Speaker 1: She said she has a lot of kids. Yes, yeah,
- 2:24Speaker 1: they have four. She said she got with him but
- 2:29Speaker 1: he was ten years older than her, right, so do
- 2:31Speaker 1: they have kids together? Her and Michael Jordan's son. No, No,
- 2:35Speaker 1: it's just kind of awkward because good time she dated
- 2:38Speaker 1: with fathers sometimes turning the kids. I think they I
- 2:41Speaker 1: think they're just having a good time. They saying it's
- 2:43Speaker 1: weird because they're like, you've known this guy since he
- 2:46Speaker 1: was a kid. Facts so down with teammates. Yeah, so
- 2:50Speaker 1: you was reading him as a man when he was
- 2:52Speaker 1: a kid, maybe picked them up from school. That's really
- 2:54Speaker 1: disgusting when you put it that way. I mean, really
- 2:57Speaker 1: think about it at it's giving. I've watched you, and
- 3:02Speaker 1: I've been watching you because you know how sometimes people
- 3:06Speaker 1: like when they're in a relationship with another person and
- 3:08Speaker 1: that person has a child that isn't theirs, and they
- 3:11Speaker 1: kind of start to do things with the child that's
- 3:14Speaker 1: kind of gross. Grooming is like industry people doing the
- 3:18Speaker 1: industry all the time. It's disgusting. But I've seen it
- 3:20Speaker 1: a lot, and it's a word that's supposedly now we
- 3:23Speaker 1: can no longer use because people groom? Can we shout out?
- 3:27Speaker 1: Take some time to child out? Sue Solos Creed three
- 3:29Speaker 1: hosting Yellow Congratulation, Private Screening if you need Hennessey, she
- 3:37Speaker 1: didn't know we had a in atl We uh, we
- 3:42Speaker 1: had time. A time was had. Okay, Okay, I was
- 3:46Speaker 1: able to cureate and host a private screening of Curry three,
- 3:48Speaker 1: which is out in theaters Friday, March third, twenty three,
- 3:52Speaker 1: courtesy of Hennessey and Team Hennessey. We had, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: some heavy hitters in there. You know, the ball Alert
- 3:57Speaker 1: show crew was up in there, Paul Crawford, m Ottomarini Collision.
- 4:02Speaker 1: We had some really dope people live in legend Greg Street.
- 4:05Speaker 1: But let me tell you, Atlanta, I love you. You
- 4:07Speaker 1: showed out. Thank you guys for coming out to the
- 4:09Speaker 1: private screening. And I can't wait to do this again.
- 4:12Speaker 1: Like you know what it is, Team Hannessey. I got
- 4:14Speaker 1: Morphens coming out for you next time. Gil, you gotta
- 4:17Speaker 1: come out. Okay. I gotta make sure I would have
- 4:20Speaker 1: been there, so we will connect and I will make
- 4:22Speaker 1: sure you were on the invite list because we have
- 4:24Speaker 1: a good time. Michael B. Jordan was called corny by
- 4:32Speaker 1: and you know we know each other. We go way back,
- 4:34Speaker 1: all the way to Chad Science and Newark. Okay, No,
- 4:39Speaker 1: I did not say that misquoted for sure, No, you
- 4:43Speaker 1: did not hear anything crud I said. When you used
- 4:45Speaker 1: to make fun of the name. But yeah, he is
- 4:48Speaker 1: obviously killing things out here. You were there, you saw,
- 4:52Speaker 1: I saw, but I saw that I saw. She wrapped
- 4:57Speaker 1: it up with you ain't corny no more? Well you're
- 4:59Speaker 1: not calling anymore right now. I would have kept that
- 5:03Speaker 1: same energy, though, is that as I did before? Like
- 5:05Speaker 1: with that, I wouldn't have been like, okay, and you
- 5:08Speaker 1: got money in your corny still Like she didn't say it,
- 5:13Speaker 1: she didn't see. He was like, yes you did. Yeah,
- 5:16Speaker 1: but I don't think got that that But she was
- 5:17Speaker 1: saying that he was kind of like Lane growing up
- 5:20Speaker 1: in house as a man. If you call me Lane,
- 5:22Speaker 1: that you technically calling me corny. But I would have
- 5:24Speaker 1: kept my same There's people who aren't lame. There's popular
- 5:29Speaker 1: people growing up that are still corny, no, thousand percent
- 5:32Speaker 1: because they called Russell Wilson corny, right, ok call him
- 5:36Speaker 1: Lane and just because he cares for his family. So
- 5:38Speaker 1: how would you the pine corny? I mean you just do. Yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 1: what's the definition of corn I don't know. That's a
- 5:45Speaker 1: good question. I know what it is you trying to
- 5:48Speaker 1: joke in and it's it's not it's not landing, okay
- 5:52Speaker 1: to me? Like your jokes aren't landing. You're probably you
- 5:55Speaker 1: have awkward moments, okay, which is like okay, guys, or
- 5:59Speaker 1: you do that. It's like say you try to sit
- 6:04Speaker 1: down and he pull your chair out and you fall
- 6:05Speaker 1: a ground and your heels and your dress and then
- 6:09Speaker 1: it's supposed to be a joke, but it was like
- 6:10Speaker 1: too far, like doing I feel like in high school terms,
- 6:14Speaker 1: like if you weren't a part of like the cool group,
- 6:16Speaker 1: like if you didn't play football, or if you weren't
- 6:18Speaker 1: one of those people that was like skipping class or
- 6:20Speaker 1: living life on the edge for a high school or
- 6:23Speaker 1: they would call you corny if you were someone who
- 6:24Speaker 1: was focused on your books, if you were somebody who
- 6:27Speaker 1: like didn't maybe that's around with a lot of girls
- 6:30Speaker 1: or guys or whatever. They just felt like you were corny,
- 6:32Speaker 1: Like you just can't you know what? My definition of
- 6:35Speaker 1: corny is that if you're trying to pretend to be
- 6:38Speaker 1: somebody that you not, that's my definition of corny. Try
- 6:41Speaker 1: to fit in right. But I understand. I understand how
- 6:44Speaker 1: he felt because when he was in school, he was
- 6:47Speaker 1: talking about being an actor and he was going to
- 6:50Speaker 1: scool his headshots and stuff, like that, so I can
- 6:52Speaker 1: kind of relate to him. That's why I was like, yeah,
- 6:54Speaker 1: you go, Michael B. Jordan, because when I was in school,
- 6:56Speaker 1: I was telling people this is what I was going
- 6:58Speaker 1: to be doing for a living. And he came from
- 7:00Speaker 1: North That's the hood. Like people don't understand that's really
- 7:03Speaker 1: the hood. He was focused, not interested in going to
- 7:06Speaker 1: the high school parties. And I think people in high school,
- 7:09Speaker 1: if you can think back to that time, they would
- 7:11Speaker 1: consider you corny. Oh you don't want to come to
- 7:12Speaker 1: the party. You ain't skipping class to go to the movie,
- 7:14Speaker 1: you ain't smoking no dopeish school. That's me. I don't
- 7:18Speaker 1: forget nothing. I don't forget nothing, But you don't forget
- 7:21Speaker 1: how people feel. I don't forget how people make me feel. Yeah,
- 7:25Speaker 1: and I mean I still felt like he carried himself
- 7:28Speaker 1: in a good way. He did it, so he did it,
- 7:29Speaker 1: so did the interview. He did it, So don't still
- 7:33Speaker 1: he didn't happen. He didn't happen to because you know
- 7:35Speaker 1: what I would have did. I would have been like
- 7:37Speaker 1: the corny kid, right and I would have walked off, Yeah,
- 7:40Speaker 1: because you're petty. Because but the end that interview was
- 7:45Speaker 1: so crazy though, like the way it ended and the
- 7:47Speaker 1: way he walked off. I was like, oh, I can
- 7:51Speaker 1: also more, You're not corny anymore. I was over here
- 7:55Speaker 1: that I feel like that want to corny and she
- 8:00Speaker 1: came yeah. And that was the gratifying moment, was it not?
- 8:04Speaker 1: It was That's why you got to watch what you
- 8:06Speaker 1: say to people, because I assumed that she thought, this
- 8:09Speaker 1: is Michael B. Jorge. There's no way he's listening on
- 8:12Speaker 1: things that I'm saying. And he said, oh I heard it.
- 8:15Speaker 1: I liked the moment of the exchange. I like she
- 8:18Speaker 1: stood on business and he still on business. But I
- 8:20Speaker 1: didn't agree with I would have not interviewed him. I
- 8:22Speaker 1: would have interviewed everybody. I mean, you work for a station,
- 8:26Speaker 1: a company that is requiring you to do this interview,
- 8:29Speaker 1: you gotta want to do it. She knew she would
- 8:32Speaker 1: have anything. Would you would have kept that same energy
- 8:36Speaker 1: or would you would have just like faked it out?
- 8:38Speaker 1: If I have to do it, if I'm obligating in
- 8:40Speaker 1: my station makes me I would have kept the same energy. Yea, Hey,
- 8:42Speaker 1: remember we went to high school and he was a
- 8:44Speaker 1: little corny kid. Yeah, now exactly, you know what I
- 8:47Speaker 1: don't think she should have brought up the fact that
- 8:48Speaker 1: they knew each other from high school, because if she
- 8:51Speaker 1: had brought it up first. First, remember it was a
- 8:53Speaker 1: corny kid from back, No she said. She said, yea, yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 1: we go way back from high school. He said, yeah.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Remember I'm the corny kid from high school. That stands
- 9:03Speaker 1: he brought it up. He would have brought it up anyway.
- 9:10Speaker 1: I was just way like popping his ship. He was, No,
- 9:13Speaker 1: he was. He was popping the ship. Yeah, he's coming
- 9:16Speaker 1: out the red carpet see and all the media outlets
- 9:19Speaker 1: that he sees her. He's like, I got you back.
- 9:22Speaker 1: And first of all, when I was there, you would
- 9:25Speaker 1: have thought Michael Jackson touched the red carpet the only
- 9:28Speaker 1: thing he was. And that's how it feels about That's
- 9:33Speaker 1: how I feel about Russell Wilson. People talk all this stuff,
- 9:36Speaker 1: but when he comes around, they'd be flocking. Oh yeah,
- 9:39Speaker 1: Russell still didn't really bad last NFL season, the Sierra's
- 9:42Speaker 1: Husband player. You would call him corny every time you
- 9:47Speaker 1: said Russell Wilson, I kept thinking, Russell Westmon, what happened?
- 9:53Speaker 1: What did he do? Yeah, but you know they called
- 9:55Speaker 1: Sierra's husband corny Like, Yeah, I feel like they seems
- 10:00Speaker 1: like like he was raised with very lovable I think
- 10:03Speaker 1: they put the labeled corny on anybody who's supposed to
- 10:06Speaker 1: do corny until until Michael we joined the interview with
- 10:10Speaker 1: a girl long time. It kind of chilled out, kind
- 10:17Speaker 1: of feels it out the term too. I just think
- 10:20Speaker 1: we all grew. I think corny was like really using
- 10:23Speaker 1: high school like high school and college day all the
- 10:25Speaker 1: corner kids though. I mean, you guys, rot who turned
- 10:28Speaker 1: out to join because let me tell you three he
- 10:33Speaker 1: did that? He did he ain't directed in his bag.
- 10:37Speaker 1: Let me ask you, Gail, where you a cool kid
- 10:39Speaker 1: in school? I mean that was popping what you're talking about?
- 10:48Speaker 1: That thought? Did you guys see Tommy versus Natalie None fight?
- 10:51Speaker 1: Did you see that that was funny because about Tommy
- 10:55Speaker 1: from Loving hip Hop? Yes? She the boxing fight? Wait
- 11:01Speaker 1: was this like intentional? Yes? It was what the Zeus
- 11:04Speaker 1: network was. It was fighting in London. Yeah. All I'm
- 11:08Speaker 1: saying is none of it makes sense that None Natalie
- 11:14Speaker 1: put the paws on her and then um, Tommy didn't
- 11:17Speaker 1: even come out for the next round. Tomady, she just
- 11:20Speaker 1: fell out like when you have your little break in
- 11:22Speaker 1: between round, but maybe she did a little side back
- 11:25Speaker 1: and better Again. I don't think she took a die. No,
- 11:30Speaker 1: I think she I think Tommy su pride for I
- 11:32Speaker 1: don't think she would want to lose on proud. People
- 11:36Speaker 1: don't realize how much boxing takes out of you. Yeah,
- 11:40Speaker 1: street fighting and boxing are two different things, and she
- 11:42Speaker 1: was losing. She should have just took the gloves off
- 11:44Speaker 1: and fought for real. Wait. Wait, now she would have
- 11:49Speaker 1: lost some money. Now she would never got paid. It
- 11:52Speaker 1: got paid. I feel like Tommy got so tired. You
- 11:54Speaker 1: saw her wind melling at a point she would just
- 11:57Speaker 1: like no, no. You see her as so point just
- 12:00Speaker 1: taking punches because she was so tired. Wait, think about this.
- 12:08Speaker 1: The average fight last thirty seconds. I don't know if
- 12:10Speaker 1: y'all know that last thirty seconds. But after the fight,
- 12:13Speaker 1: you have felt like you've been fighting for two hours.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I'm just confused. She had a party host highlight right, Yes,
- 12:20Speaker 1: she had that after the wind, Tommy, after the wind,
- 12:25Speaker 1: this is what we're got tonight. So she didn't go
- 12:27Speaker 1: to her party. I doubt it. But speaking of parties,
- 12:33Speaker 1: I got I gotta address something. I got addressed. The
- 12:35Speaker 1: elephant in the room. Oh uh. Since Atlanta seems like
- 12:39Speaker 1: the home of the hookah, Santana says men shouldn't smoke hooker.
- 12:43Speaker 1: If you was the man, you don't need to be
- 12:45Speaker 1: smoking a hookah, baby, go out. You need to be
- 12:47Speaker 1: all you up a wood. You need to be smoking
- 12:50Speaker 1: you something za Okay, you don't need to be suckered
- 12:53Speaker 1: down a hooka bad bitch, baddy. I'm sure has everyone
- 12:57Speaker 1: in here smoked hooka before smoke? I ain't gonna stop
- 13:01Speaker 1: smoking because Saucy Santana said, I tryout, It's not for me. Wait,
- 13:05Speaker 1: so what are he's trying to say is men shouldn't
- 13:09Speaker 1: have a hooka in they in their mouth? Yeah? Is
- 13:12Speaker 1: that just straight man? Yeah, he's talking about No, No,
- 13:14Speaker 1: he's talking about straight man. He's saying that's an indicator
- 13:18Speaker 1: of like, right homosexual. Yeah. I disagree, man, they've been
- 13:22Speaker 1: smoking hooka for four hundred years. I mean, I don't.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I don't agree with that because then you could get
- 13:27Speaker 1: into like you know how they call the crack pipe
- 13:30Speaker 1: a glass. Did you know what I'm saying? Then? I
- 13:32Speaker 1: didn't know that from sorry, or when you smoke with
- 13:38Speaker 1: other men and they'd be licking all on a background
- 13:44Speaker 1: and then you can't you can't puttick it in your mouth.
- 13:46Speaker 1: I've never understood people rolling weed and lick at it
- 13:49Speaker 1: and doing all that and then you passing it. Now,
- 13:52Speaker 1: that's why my smoking days, I just I think that's
- 13:54Speaker 1: why I want. They lick it. They lighted to kind
- 13:56Speaker 1: of burn disaffected. That's oh God, don't act like they
- 14:07Speaker 1: always had tips for hooker. Who since when they didn't
- 14:10Speaker 1: hut up? Since when? Man, listen, I'm gonna stop smoking
- 14:14Speaker 1: hooker because us Saucy saying Santa whatever his name is,
- 14:19Speaker 1: that's my dog man, I thought, is crazy. Though. No,
- 14:23Speaker 1: I haven't smoke hooker with him, but I smoke then
- 14:27Speaker 1: talking about who could have enough straight man? According to
- 14:32Speaker 1: his rule, we smoke hook You have your own tip, Yeah,
- 14:35Speaker 1: you have your on tip. That's his point. We take
- 14:39Speaker 1: quick commercial better. When we come back, we were getting
- 14:41Speaker 1: Big Bean's business put down at Hooker. We'll be right
- 14:45Speaker 1: back with more of the Baller Alert Show. You're listening
- 14:55Speaker 1: to a special edition of The ball Or Alert Show.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Hey guys, you're listening to Gail Bean on The Wall
- 15:00Speaker 1: Alert Show. And we were back with the bottle of show.
- 15:02Speaker 1: Podcasts available everywhere you get your podcasts Gail Bean, Big
- 15:06Speaker 1: Bean and Big Snap Snap Snaps please Snaps. Uh Saint Louis.
- 15:11Speaker 1: But Stone Mountain born in Saint Louis, they never about
- 15:15Speaker 1: two seconds. That's like me born in New York, but
- 15:18Speaker 1: I couldn't even tell you about it to Arizona was
- 15:21Speaker 1: there for about two years, moved to Stone Mount Stone
- 15:25Speaker 1: Mount three. What high school? Yeah? We high school school?
- 15:30Speaker 1: Stop playing? So when did acting come into play as
- 15:36Speaker 1: you were growing up? A year doctor Knarkers, which ironically,
- 15:41Speaker 1: do you guys know Omar Dorsey? I would be playing
- 15:44Speaker 1: one um raising Canaan as the one that was dating Rock,
- 15:48Speaker 1: the drug dealer that knew art and stuff and she
- 15:50Speaker 1: killed him. Okay, I probably got pull it up. You'll
- 15:53Speaker 1: see him this season on Snowfall. Okay. So Omar Dorsey
- 15:56Speaker 1: is from the cat He went to the Cata School
- 15:58Speaker 1: of Arts. Doctor Narker was his theater teacher. Laugh. He's
- 16:03Speaker 1: a little older than me. Laugh. I guess went to
- 16:06Speaker 1: Stevenson and then he was my theater teacher for senior,
- 16:09Speaker 1: my senior in high school, and he just opened my
- 16:13Speaker 1: mind up to a whole world of life. Like oh,
- 16:16Speaker 1: I like this, like this is fun. I can get
- 16:18Speaker 1: paid to do this like that's it, like just this,
- 16:21Speaker 1: And I said, okay, this is what I want to do.
- 16:23Speaker 1: Because originally that I was gonna graduate from high school,
- 16:26Speaker 1: be a cheerleader, go to college for it, graduate from college,
- 16:30Speaker 1: be a Dallas Cowboys child. And then someone told me
- 16:32Speaker 1: that they only get packed fifty dollars a game. I
- 16:35Speaker 1: heard that that's still true. I don't know. I wasn't
- 16:37Speaker 1: trying to find out, just to find out. You know,
- 16:42Speaker 1: you hear certain things about certain stuff, and it's like,
- 16:44Speaker 1: I don't even want to go down that paty dollars
- 16:46Speaker 1: a game. That could have been a lie, but every
- 16:50Speaker 1: lie I have a little bit of truth too. Where
- 16:53Speaker 1: you are now, thank you. So I just chose to
- 16:58Speaker 1: pursue acting. I went to cup Well again. It was
- 17:01Speaker 1: my senior in high school. So I wasn't applying to
- 17:04Speaker 1: colleges because I thought, Okay, I'm just gonna move to
- 17:06Speaker 1: LA and pursue acting. But my mom, being a high
- 17:09Speaker 1: school teacher, she's not with that, deciding not to further
- 17:12Speaker 1: your education. So school, where where are your college letters?
- 17:17Speaker 1: They're not coming in. I said, oh, I'm not going
- 17:19Speaker 1: I'm moving to La to pursue acting, and she was like,
- 17:22Speaker 1: the hell you not the hell you are? You going
- 17:25Speaker 1: to college and you're getting a degree. It's something you
- 17:27Speaker 1: can get a job in. So went about Austin did
- 17:31Speaker 1: nothing related to acting or theater. While I was in college,
- 17:34Speaker 1: I was a real student, like student accounting in finance.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I was a double major. Oh, I had my bachelors
- 17:40Speaker 1: in accounty. Come on, man to good with the money.
- 17:44Speaker 1: I'm good with the money. You're good with the numbers,
- 17:47Speaker 1: good with the business. Cross Delta went to study abroad
- 17:52Speaker 1: in Germany. I went to cars Royal University. Oh. I
- 17:55Speaker 1: thoroughly enjoyed my college. I did co ed competition cheerly.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Then I lived my life. And then once I graduated,
- 18:02Speaker 1: I let her know like this was for you. Now
- 18:04Speaker 1: I'm going to do what I want, which is active.
- 18:07Speaker 1: And then eventually I went to AIU for media from production.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Then graduating okay, right there, gave my money, learned when
- 18:16Speaker 1: I need to learn. And then once I started being
- 18:19Speaker 1: productive in the business, I was like, well it cost
- 18:21Speaker 1: a lot, so to me, it just didn't make any
- 18:24Speaker 1: sense because I had hope. You know, in Georgia you
- 18:26Speaker 1: have hope. But my hope ran out from my first degree.
- 18:31Speaker 1: So now I'm paying out a pocket and taking out
- 18:33Speaker 1: student loans and I was just not for that. Started
- 18:36Speaker 1: getting active in my career here and I decided to
- 18:38Speaker 1: go to LA And it took me a while to
- 18:40Speaker 1: get there because I'm a sage. We just moved, you know,
- 18:44Speaker 1: we free do what we want to do. And my
- 18:47Speaker 1: mother kept saying no, like I couldn't go, and don't go.
- 18:50Speaker 1: You don't have a plan, You've never been. But I
- 18:52Speaker 1: knew I wanted to go there an act. I don't
- 18:54Speaker 1: know nobody in my in my family or personally that
- 18:58Speaker 1: is pursuing this that can help get me in. But
- 19:00Speaker 1: I'm gonna just go and take a leap of faith.
- 19:02Speaker 1: And I figured it all out. I kind of finessed
- 19:06Speaker 1: the plan. When was the first like big gig that
- 19:09Speaker 1: you said, huh, it's working, it's happening. Unexpected. Unexpected was
- 19:16Speaker 1: a feature film I did independent. We shot that in Chicago.
- 19:20Speaker 1: It was the first major thing I booked, and it
- 19:23Speaker 1: had Kobe Smallders from How I Met your Mother she
- 19:26Speaker 1: was the lady who played Robert Shovski and How I
- 19:28Speaker 1: Met Your Mother and then Honors Home and Elizabeth McGowan,
- 19:33Speaker 1: and I was the lead. Me and Kobe were the leads.
- 19:35Speaker 1: So I booked that and it wasn't paying much, but
- 19:38Speaker 1: I knew that it was going to do exactly what
- 19:40Speaker 1: it did. It went to Sundance Film Festival. It got
- 19:43Speaker 1: me my manager, it got me exposure, it got the
- 19:45Speaker 1: Hollywood reporter, it got me attention of people. And now
- 19:49Speaker 1: you got some alcolades at the Sundance. Yeah. Yeah, it
- 19:52Speaker 1: got me next generation breakout actors. Um it did what
- 19:56Speaker 1: it was supposed to do. Yea. This was living in LA.
- 20:00Speaker 1: You didn't have to get a job. No, I definitely
- 20:03Speaker 1: had a job. I got a job the first time
- 20:04Speaker 1: I went to Okay. I had a few jobs. That's
- 20:09Speaker 1: that's the story that people don't hear when people people
- 20:14Speaker 1: move to La. They don't they don't understand the actors grind.
- 20:17Speaker 1: So I went to go visit June fourteenth to July fourteen.
- 20:20Speaker 1: My first two days there, I got a job at
- 20:24Speaker 1: Windsor Windsor Fashion Story, it's like a little clothing store.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And then I was working at Francesca's Boutique. It's like
- 20:32Speaker 1: a little boutique clothing store. And I worked at Sheek
- 20:34Speaker 1: it's a sneaker store. And I was waitressing at like
- 20:38Speaker 1: a little sports bar. I didn't know anybody there. I
- 20:44Speaker 1: wasn't I was there for my acting. So until I
- 20:47Speaker 1: try to tell artists a lot because a lot of
- 20:49Speaker 1: times they just think, okay, grind, grind, grind, and not work.
- 20:53Speaker 1: But until it's a full time job, you need to
- 20:57Speaker 1: have income coming in the bills. Don't you got a
- 21:03Speaker 1: wardrobe makeup? I mean it is a gas yes, so
- 21:11Speaker 1: carry on. You can't be in LA and I have
- 21:13Speaker 1: a car. I don't see how people do it right? Um,
- 21:16Speaker 1: And I like to eat. I'm a food baby. Okay,
- 21:22Speaker 1: We've got some food dates. I got a whole list
- 21:24Speaker 1: of rest I don't think you met your match. They
- 21:28Speaker 1: know what's your favorite restaurant here? Oh care? I stay far?
- 21:31Speaker 1: Never been there and I just went to one flu
- 21:33Speaker 1: South recently. See you got a lot, you got a
- 21:37Speaker 1: lot of to be played. Lounge over in East Point,
- 21:40Speaker 1: I remember I've never been there. Did I just set
- 21:43Speaker 1: up a friendship? You set wet? Can I can I
- 21:47Speaker 1: get to my favorite part? Dog? Can I ask? Can
- 21:49Speaker 1: I ask about snowfall? That's how I found you. I'm excited.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I'm excited. I'm excited they fired me, and I'm so
- 21:56Speaker 1: glad because after that, I got booked every month. So
- 22:00Speaker 1: I worked for the airline. So you so you got
- 22:02Speaker 1: fired from the jobs that you were actually working at.
- 22:05Speaker 1: I quit all the other jobs and I was working
- 22:06Speaker 1: just at Virgin America Airlines, which is now brought out
- 22:08Speaker 1: by Alaska. Loved that job. It was from Atlanta. So
- 22:12Speaker 1: I always look for a job. Every job. I had
- 22:20Speaker 1: always looked for a job, so I found I always
- 22:22Speaker 1: every single job, there's something where the pay is more
- 22:25Speaker 1: than just the money. So with like she story, yes,
- 22:30Speaker 1: with restaurants to eat. You know what I'm saying. You
- 22:35Speaker 1: preaching right now. So then I was working for the
- 22:37Speaker 1: airlines flight benefits, and then I also would sell like
- 22:41Speaker 1: my buddy passes and stuff. You know, did you have somebody?
- 22:47Speaker 1: Did you have an agent at this time when you
- 22:49Speaker 1: were doing all this grinding? I didn't. When I first
- 22:52Speaker 1: I had got my very first agent ever, right before
- 22:55Speaker 1: I moved to LA. When I moved, she dropped me,
- 22:57Speaker 1: she said, because I moved to LA. Now, my daddy worked,
- 23:02Speaker 1: he's a coach in the NFL. I'm his own girl.
- 23:04Speaker 1: I'm the baby. Yeah, I'm not spoiled, but I'm damn
- 23:08Speaker 1: sure deserving. So if I wanted, I do get it.
- 23:11Speaker 1: So he could fly me back and forth. But she
- 23:13Speaker 1: didn't care to ask me any questions or any of that.
- 23:16Speaker 1: It was just you moved and granted. She so she
- 23:20Speaker 1: was like, you moved, um, my daughter went out there
- 23:24Speaker 1: and she was back in two years and it's not
- 23:26Speaker 1: gonna work. And they always story and you also didn't ask.
- 23:34Speaker 1: I said, if you need me to be back for
- 23:35Speaker 1: something like one, I could put some auditions on tape,
- 23:38Speaker 1: and two, if you need me to come back for
- 23:40Speaker 1: a callback or anything, I could do that. No, I
- 23:44Speaker 1: can't represent you at the forty five days. Okay, thank
- 23:46Speaker 1: you so much for your time. Because it's the thing,
- 23:48Speaker 1: I already know that I'm blessed and highly favorite. So
- 23:51Speaker 1: when people try to start on me, I'm like, see
- 23:54Speaker 1: because eventually I'm gonna have to stunt on the people
- 23:56Speaker 1: that I should have been stunting with. And that's okay,
- 23:59Speaker 1: but I already know that. So she says she was
- 24:02Speaker 1: dropping me forty five more days okay. Cool. I was sad.
- 24:05Speaker 1: I'm talking to my friends like, oh my god, this
- 24:07Speaker 1: is my first agent. What am I gonna do? Like
- 24:09Speaker 1: it took so long to get this one. They were like,
- 24:13Speaker 1: submit to more so it was it was so something, yeah,
- 24:16Speaker 1: submit to more So I submitted and at the time
- 24:23Speaker 1: it was this agency. I'm not gonna say the name
- 24:25Speaker 1: because they have a bad reputation. Now I submitted to them.
- 24:30Speaker 1: My agent left there. She started her own. Her name
- 24:32Speaker 1: is Carla Huff. She has Bold Talent Agency. But at
- 24:35Speaker 1: the time I submitted to her online, she reached out.
- 24:39Speaker 1: We had a like hour long conversation and she picked
- 24:41Speaker 1: me up and it was great. So I didn't have
- 24:45Speaker 1: an agent. But then I got an agent again and
- 24:48Speaker 1: I was with her while I was working at Virgin America.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Loved that job. Worked all the time, but also still
- 24:55Speaker 1: had time for auditions and stuff. And it was another
- 24:59Speaker 1: actor that was working now that was just hating and
- 25:01Speaker 1: she got me fired. Crazy. It's okay, I know who
- 25:06Speaker 1: it is. I mean she's not she she wasn't. Uh
- 25:10Speaker 1: could we get to my partner man Let that settle.
- 25:14Speaker 1: I got an appointment, which helped me out because she
- 25:15Speaker 1: was I got fired unjustly. So I became a fan
- 25:18Speaker 1: of how great you did on Snowfall. I kept saying, Wow,
- 25:23Speaker 1: she's really doing a great job at going from you know,
- 25:27Speaker 1: the girlfriend to you're hooked on drugs really really bad
- 25:32Speaker 1: like and I was saying right before you came in,
- 25:34Speaker 1: I was like, how do you mentally go there to
- 25:37Speaker 1: act that well? To portray this person hooked on drugs?
- 25:42Speaker 1: And we of course we'll talk about snowfall, yes, um,
- 25:44Speaker 1: and could you talk about that? Of course, how you
- 25:46Speaker 1: got the snowfall and then your character. So let me
- 25:50Speaker 1: ask all of you a real question. Is anybody in
- 25:53Speaker 1: your family ever been on drugs? Yes? That you that
- 25:57Speaker 1: was a live while you were alive. Yes, oh yeah, yep.
- 26:02Speaker 1: I'm so sorry as anybody in your family been on drugs?
- 26:05Speaker 1: That was a lie while you were alive. Have you
- 26:07Speaker 1: ever seen witnessed anybody? And I think that is the
- 26:11Speaker 1: black story. I think that is there is no black
- 26:13Speaker 1: person in America who has not seen a family member
- 26:17Speaker 1: or someone close to them on drugs like that. They
- 26:19Speaker 1: no person um. One of my older sisters, she was
- 26:26Speaker 1: literally like a mother figure in our family. So we're
- 26:30Speaker 1: I'm first generation American by way of Takeday, which is
- 26:32Speaker 1: the northern region of Ethiopia, and we didn't have a father.
- 26:36Speaker 1: So my oldest brother was the man of the house
- 26:39Speaker 1: and she was the nurturer. She went to college, she worked,
- 26:43Speaker 1: she made sure that all of we all had our
- 26:44Speaker 1: homework done, she helped with projects. And I think at
- 26:47Speaker 1: some point in life, UM mentally, I just think that
- 26:50Speaker 1: it was heavy for her and she goes she moves
- 26:53Speaker 1: out to La gets into a relationship, and it goes south.
- 26:57Speaker 1: That's when she started using UM. She comes to Atlanta,
- 27:00Speaker 1: and that's when we really realized how bad it was. UM,
- 27:05Speaker 1: she's not doing well at all. We saw the ups
- 27:07Speaker 1: and downs, the different emotions that she could have in
- 27:11Speaker 1: a matter of seconds, like the highs, the lows, the aggression.
- 27:16Speaker 1: She's actually she's outside somewhere in Stale Mountain, you know.
- 27:20Speaker 1: So it's it's very relatable. But I think it's so
- 27:23Speaker 1: unfortunate how common it is in our community. So I
- 27:26Speaker 1: really appreciate you bringing that point up, you know, But
- 27:29Speaker 1: it is real. It's real. It's real that some people
- 27:32Speaker 1: in my family I've seen since I've been alive on drugs,
- 27:37Speaker 1: like addicted, Like when I was born, they were already
- 27:40Speaker 1: fully into the crack so or whatever drugs they were on.
- 27:44Speaker 1: So I used a lot of personal experiences, and then
- 27:47Speaker 1: when I used to live here years ago, I watched
- 27:50Speaker 1: a documentary called Jay Is for Junkie by Greedmont Park
- 27:53Speaker 1: and it was so good. It was so grounded. It
- 27:55Speaker 1: wasn't the clickbait clips we see of addicts, of them
- 27:58Speaker 1: just wilding out or people doing things to like disturb
- 28:03Speaker 1: them and disrupt their peace. It was actually seeing functioning
- 28:07Speaker 1: addicts talk about their story and their life. And I
- 28:11Speaker 1: mean not just addicts, but like crack at it. Are
- 28:13Speaker 1: they sharing the why, like how they got here, what
- 28:15Speaker 1: drove them to it? Some of them are. Some of
- 28:18Speaker 1: them share, you know, their thought process which leads them
- 28:22Speaker 1: to want to go do more drugs and things that
- 28:24Speaker 1: they've been through. Some of them, one of them was
- 28:26Speaker 1: an omega when I'm adulta so when I was a bro.
- 28:29Speaker 1: He showed his branding, like just showing that that wasn't
- 28:32Speaker 1: supposed to be their life and that wasn't the track
- 28:34Speaker 1: that they were on, and just how quickly a person
- 28:37Speaker 1: can slip. I watched those things. I volunteer your own
- 28:39Speaker 1: ski road. That's skied road is if y'all don't know,
- 28:44Speaker 1: it's like the worst part of LA the most homeless
- 28:47Speaker 1: is steam. I was saying, I wonder if I wonder
- 28:49Speaker 1: if you did that and you were around it to see,
- 28:52Speaker 1: Oh you did you did when you were talking about
- 28:54Speaker 1: that off cam talking before you came out, I was like,
- 28:56Speaker 1: I wonder did you do that? Because you did an
- 28:58Speaker 1: amazing job on that. Yeah, you're such a la. Twenty
- 29:01Speaker 1: thirteen and I started volunteering, I want to say, in
- 29:03Speaker 1: twenty thirteen or twenty fourteen, every Wednesday twenty It was
- 29:09Speaker 1: so much that, you know, I feel like in life
- 29:12Speaker 1: we get omens that show us things for the future
- 29:17Speaker 1: and God kind of prepares us for the bigger blessings
- 29:20Speaker 1: that are to come from. Yes, and it just gave
- 29:22Speaker 1: me an insight look to even see them more humanized,
- 29:27Speaker 1: you know, because before that, when it was just like
- 29:30Speaker 1: members in my family, to me, it was like, Okay,
- 29:33Speaker 1: that's a jay, that's a junk. I'm not gonna pretend
- 29:36Speaker 1: that I would like, I know, cancel culture is a thing,
- 29:38Speaker 1: but I fully take responsibility who I am and who
- 29:41Speaker 1: I've grown to become. At first, I used to look
- 29:44Speaker 1: at the Jay's and my family like I would play
- 29:46Speaker 1: tricks on them as kids, like yeah, I was that person.
- 29:51Speaker 1: So I'm I'm happy that it taught me something and
- 29:53Speaker 1: humanized me and allow me to have empathy for people
- 29:57Speaker 1: and truly understand addiction as as a disease and how
- 30:01Speaker 1: it can be any one of us at any time.
- 30:04Speaker 1: At any time. There's many different addictions. So what's next,
- 30:08Speaker 1: What's next? Value is happen? Valley was a straight offer. Okay,
- 30:20Speaker 1: they came to you. They're like, hey, so, okay, Valley
- 30:26Speaker 1: is like a trial of years. So I originally auditioned
- 30:29Speaker 1: for the pilot for this one role like five times.
- 30:32Speaker 1: They kept I had an audition and then a callback,
- 30:34Speaker 1: and then the producers in a director session and network
- 30:37Speaker 1: and this, and it was that they were pushing me
- 30:40Speaker 1: to the network, but the network said no. I was
- 30:43Speaker 1: the girl that they wanted for the role. And then
- 30:46Speaker 1: it was no from the network. I said, okay, I
- 30:50Speaker 1: to me, I can act, but it didn't make sense
- 30:53Speaker 1: for me to play that character. So because I just
- 30:56Speaker 1: I didn't look like that character, I couldn't. No matter what,
- 30:59Speaker 1: I wasn't gonna be the character. And I'm glad that
- 31:02Speaker 1: they pushed back. I'm glad that they said no, because
- 31:04Speaker 1: when it came back around now, I would say that
- 31:07Speaker 1: was probably twenty eighteen. So now I've I'm not who
- 31:12Speaker 1: Gail being in twenty eighteen is not gayl being in
- 31:14Speaker 1: twenty twenty one. So now when it came back around
- 31:18Speaker 1: and they said this is who we want for the role,
- 31:20Speaker 1: there was no pushback for the network. It was like, okay, cool,
- 31:24Speaker 1: we agree. I had allowed my star to rise. I
- 31:28Speaker 1: had allowed some of my my work to show. Okay,
- 31:30Speaker 1: she can carry the weight of this. And Katori called me.
- 31:35Speaker 1: We did a zoom. She said, would you would you
- 31:37Speaker 1: you want to be one Valley? I said, hell, yeah,
- 31:41Speaker 1: what you mean? You got all the classes girls, Snowfall,
- 31:44Speaker 1: pe Valley. I think I'm just so honored and blessed
- 31:50Speaker 1: to have worked with people who they humble like we
- 31:55Speaker 1: did it. I shot Atlanta. Atlanta was my first project
- 31:57Speaker 1: in Atlanta and this was season too, so they were
- 32:00Speaker 1: award Emmy Award and Donald said, you know, thank you
- 32:04Speaker 1: for doing this. I'm like, thank you? What serious? Thank you?
- 32:13Speaker 1: So I did that and yeah, go Tory. She was
- 32:18Speaker 1: just like what I want to And I'm like, hell, yeah,
- 32:20Speaker 1: I play a bottle on a look account if you
- 32:22Speaker 1: need me to, Like, what do you at any at
- 32:24Speaker 1: any capacity, I will come on there. So I didn't
- 32:26Speaker 1: know it was even gonna be the role of a dancer.
- 32:29Speaker 1: And I bought a pole just in case because I
- 32:33Speaker 1: didn't want to. I bought a pole. Just a Valley
- 32:36Speaker 1: go anywhere. It can go anywhere. So yeah, that was
- 32:39Speaker 1: a straight offer. I was very excited about that. That's dope.
- 32:41Speaker 1: So twenty twenty three, what else do we have, like
- 32:47Speaker 1: before we get off pe Valley? What has taken so
- 32:49Speaker 1: long for the new season? Had a baby? Okay okay, mama, okay,
- 32:56Speaker 1: okay know in real life? Yeah, that's she burnt our
- 33:00Speaker 1: first order. On top of that, they got it. Well,
- 33:05Speaker 1: it's a lot going on in the industry right now.
- 33:07Speaker 1: It might possibly be a writer strike. It might possibly
- 33:11Speaker 1: be a director's strike. After the writers strike, I don't
- 33:16Speaker 1: know when y'all gonna get a new content. What is
- 33:17Speaker 1: it about a lack of money? Respecting Uncle Clifford rules? Now,
- 33:22Speaker 1: what's up with the strikes? What's the reason? Networks? Then
- 33:25Speaker 1: they just kind of gotta money. Things are evolving. Networks
- 33:29Speaker 1: and studios are making more money. They're being more profitable.
- 33:32Speaker 1: But now you have more platforms like streaming, So if
- 33:35Speaker 1: you write a show, and you get paid off of
- 33:38Speaker 1: that show, but then it goes to a streaming platform
- 33:40Speaker 1: and you don't get paid anymore but stream And then
- 33:44Speaker 1: writers You gotta think writers come from the year of
- 33:47Speaker 1: the era of like Martin when they're doing twenty plus episodes.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Now shows have like ten episodes, maybe go three four seasons. Yeah,
- 33:57Speaker 1: I mean, pay them and then it's it's it's a bunch,
- 34:01Speaker 1: it's a lot that goes into it where it's just
- 34:03Speaker 1: it's not listening. I need p Valley to come back
- 34:05Speaker 1: because I need to see how your character Roulette evolves,
- 34:08Speaker 1: because you got me a trigued man way that y'all
- 34:11Speaker 1: pulled up on Buddy in that hotel you so gags.
- 34:15Speaker 1: Is that fun for you to have that specific role? Oh?
- 34:18Speaker 1: I love it? And Roulette Roulette is like eighteen year
- 34:22Speaker 1: old me. Listen, I promise you. I said, oh, this
- 34:24Speaker 1: is me and this is me. I was like this
- 34:27Speaker 1: three I mean, minu is like selling my body. But
- 34:30Speaker 1: the way that she's so gangs to what it? My
- 34:33Speaker 1: gun is three six five six? So you so she
- 34:36Speaker 1: me are we wanted the same? I was very very
- 34:39Speaker 1: happy about that role. Okay. So twenty twenty three I'm
- 34:44Speaker 1: gonna answer that season three and p Valley, okay. And
- 34:48Speaker 1: I got a little another project on the table, okay,
- 34:50Speaker 1: another sport say it. They haven't announced it, but the
- 34:54Speaker 1: contract is signed. Big deal in theaters. Don't be a
- 35:00Speaker 1: big deal, that's all I can. I feel like it
- 35:01Speaker 1: is because you just on a roll. You're on a
- 35:03Speaker 1: hot stress. It's gone. It's gonna. How are you gonna
- 35:05Speaker 1: how y'all gonna feel when um Snowfall ends? I know
- 35:08Speaker 1: y'all kind of have y'all like had like their final
- 35:11Speaker 1: goodbyes already we have had our Well, no, because I
- 35:14Speaker 1: think they're gonna do a screening in LA for the
- 35:16Speaker 1: for the final allegue. Okay that I feel like it's
- 35:23Speaker 1: like insecure, Like you know when the cast had to

- 39:22Speaker 1: I've been with my main lady for about two years
- 39:24Speaker 1: and counting, and my side chick does hair, but she
- 39:26Speaker 1: does it where she lives out of town. But recently
- 39:29Speaker 1: she's been in Miami doing hair and she's messed around
- 39:31Speaker 1: and did an install on my lady. I only found
- 39:33Speaker 1: out because my side chick posted my lady on her
- 39:36Speaker 1: story after installing her new hair due and lastly, my
- 39:39Speaker 1: lady enjoyed her hair so much she got her number
- 39:42Speaker 1: and wants to use her all the time. Now I'm stressing,
- 39:45Speaker 1: don't know how to get through this. What do you
- 39:46Speaker 1: guys think? Okay, I go, I gotta follow up questions now,
- 39:49Speaker 1: So does the side chick know that that's his main lady. Yeah,
- 39:54Speaker 1: probably side right. You know, niggas don't really be posting
- 39:57Speaker 1: their girls no more facts. So he gonna have he
- 40:04Speaker 1: gonna have to let side chick. No, it's a no
- 40:08Speaker 1: m hmm. He gotta shut that down or like just
- 40:11Speaker 1: be faithful. That's I mean, we passed that point. You

- 40:30Speaker 1: to do it. Oh, man, listen, you gotta tell your
- 40:33Speaker 1: side check. No, man, you can't do my girl hair
- 40:35Speaker 1: no more. You gotta block her number, don't follow her
- 40:38Speaker 1: on Instagram. You need to act like y'all never met before. Yeah,
- 40:42Speaker 1: he gotta come queen to the man because she's gonna
- 40:45Speaker 1: find out, and it's gonna be more embarrassing when she
- 40:47Speaker 1: find out from the side check than it would be.
- 40:49Speaker 1: All right, So he's gonna have to take it whatever
- 40:52Speaker 1: come with it. He's gonna have to. He made his bed,
- 40:54Speaker 1: He got a lot that two years away. This is
- 40:58Speaker 1: a day. This is this is a day. Just she's

- 41:12Speaker 1: first just have casual about here and who died this
- 41:15Speaker 1: and that, and then come clean to somebody. So we

- 41:26Speaker 1: with the side check first, because she the one doing

- 42:22Speaker 1: will be things that get you depressed. There will be
- 42:25Speaker 1: things that make you sad. Do not focus on other
- 42:28Speaker 1: people's lives on social media or in the real world.
- 42:32Speaker 1: Focus on yourself. Talk to yourself, Pray, go out to
- 42:35Speaker 1: whomever it is you believe in. If your God is Kanye,

- 43:44Speaker 1: how and Willie Slayton they went to MLK. I have
- 43:48Speaker 1: no idea why they just started calling stuff being. It
- 43:51Speaker 1: would be like pass me that being, Hey, bring me
- 43:53Speaker 1: bring me back a bean, but hey, someone say he
- 44:00Speaker 1: going to get a piece of bring me one of
- 44:01Speaker 1: them beings. Like everything was being so. Then I would
- 44:05Speaker 1: come over and they would say, what's up, Gail Being.
