- 0:00It was over 3000 years ago that the Psalms were written and
- 0:06compiled. Most of them written by the
- 0:10sweet Psalmist of Israel. King David in Jewish tradition
- 0:17tells us that the Psalms are just simply praises.
- 0:23The word means to to pluck with a string, and so most, if not
- 0:29all of the Psalms were were put to music that they might be sung
- 0:37in. The Psalms themselves emphasize
- 0:44the the majesty and the magnificence of God amidst the
- 0:52malady and misery of man. That's why the Psalm are so
- 0:59important to read on a daily basis.
- 1:03For most of us, our our days are filled with misery and heartache
- 1:09and pain, a lot like those written by the psalmist.
- 1:16And so through the reading of the Psalms, we begin to
- 1:19understand more about the the magnificence and the majesty of
- 1:25God and how he operates. There's 150 chapters in the book
- 1:33of Psalms. It's the longest, biggest book
- 1:36in the Bible. So turn with me, if you would,
- 1:39to Psalm 150. That's the last one.
- 1:46We'll begin our time there this morning.
- 1:48Psalm 150 verse #1 it says praise the Lord or Hallelujah,
- 1:58praise God in his sanctuary. Now maybe your translation says
- 2:07praise God in the assembly of the Saints, and both are true.
- 2:16The Bible tells us in Psalm 22 that God inhabits the praises of
- 2:19His people. And it is true that when we
- 2:23gather together as a body of believers, as Saints, we we give
- 2:27praise and honor to God. So we are to praise him among
- 2:33the assembly of the Saints. But the new American standard.
- 2:38The text that I use I think is closest to the translation when
- 2:43it says praise God in the sanctuary in in the temple.
- 2:54That's quite interesting because believe it or not, your body is
- 3:00a sanctuary. Paul says it this way in First
- 3:04Corinthians chapter 6 verse #19 Do you not know that your body
- 3:11is a sanctuary? Your body's a temple of the Holy
- 3:18Spirit. It was in you whom you have from
- 3:19God, and that you are not your own, for you have been bought
- 3:24with a price. Therefore glorify God in your
- 3:30body. So when the psalmist says praise
- 3:36the Lord in the sanctuary, in all reality, our whole lives as
- 3:45believers, our bodies are that sanctuary.
- 3:48And there's to be this continual praise of God in that sanctuary,
- 3:54in that temple where the Spirit of God him himself dwells.
- 4:02And then the last first says, Let everything that has breath
- 4:07praise the Lord. Let everything that hath breath
- 4:15praise the Lord. Why?
- 4:20Because praise truly is the beauty of the believer.
- 4:28Psalm 147 verse #1 tells us. For praise is pleasant and
- 4:34beautiful. Psalm 33 One says the same
- 4:39thing. Charles Spurgeon, who was a
- 4:44master of words and a master preacher, said this about the
- 4:49beauty of praise. He said what wings are to a bird
- 4:55and what fruit is to a tree, what the Rose is to the thorn.
- 5:02That is the praise to a child of God.
- 5:10What makes the the the bird beautiful is when it's in flight
- 5:15in its wings. What makes the tree beautiful is
- 5:19the fruit that it grows. And what makes the thorn
- 5:24beautiful is that it's attached to the Rose.
- 5:30And what Makes You Beautiful is when you live a life of praise.
- 5:41So Psalm 63 says this verse #4 So I will bless you as long as I
- 5:50live. I will lift up my hands in your
- 5:53name. My soul is satisfied as with
- 5:56Morrow and fatness, and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips.
- 6:06So as long as I live, I I'm going to offer praises with
- 6:09joyful lips. It says over in Psalm 113 that
- 6:16Tim had read earlier. Praise the Lord, praise those
- 6:21servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord.
- 6:26Blessed be the name of the Lord from this time forth and
- 6:31forever. From the rising of the sun to
- 6:34its setting, the name of the Lord is to be praised.
- 6:40From the rising of the sun to its setting, God's name is to be
- 6:46praised. So when you wake up in the
- 6:49morning and you see the sun arise, some of us like to sleep
- 6:55in so we don't see the sunrise, but the the godly person gets up
- 7:03before the sun comes up, but he wants to see the sunrise because
- 7:10you want to praise the Lord from the rising of the sun to its
- 7:14setting. In other words, praise is
- 7:19continual. Praise is perpetual.
- 7:22Praise is something that's ongoing.
- 7:26Praise never is out of season. Praise is never optional.
- 7:33It's always essential. Praise is a part of who we are.
- 7:36It beautifies us when we open our eyes in the morning.
- 7:40We we praise the Lord for bringing a safety through
- 7:43another night. We praise the Lord for the
- 7:46events coming that day. We praise the Lord for all
- 7:49that's going to happen in my family that day.
- 7:52And I get in and I, I take a shower and I praise the Lord
- 7:55that I have running water and that I have towels to dry off
- 7:59with. And for you ladies, you have a
- 8:01blow dryer to blow dry your hair.
- 8:03You praise the Lord for electricity to be able to turn
- 8:06it on from the rising of the sun to that setting.
- 8:10God's name is to be praised again.
- 8:16Charles Spurgeon, who has written so much about praise in
- 8:20his his book on the Psalms, The Treasury of David.
- 8:24And outside of that, he has written a a whole lot of books
- 8:27on the perfection of praise and the practice of praise.
- 8:32He says these words, and these are written in his devotional
- 8:37morning and evening on the date of July 31st, as he talks about
- 8:43First Chronicles 933, where the singers in the temple were to
- 8:52work faithfully, fervently, ferociously all throughout the
- 9:00day. They were to sing both day and
- 9:05night, for their work was never done.
- 9:10So Spurgeon would comment on that by saying these words.
- 9:15Well, was it so ordered in the temple that the sacred chant
- 9:18never ceased. Forever more did the singers
- 9:22praise the Lord, whose mercy endureth forever.
- 9:27As mercy did not cease to rule either by day or by night, so
- 9:30neither did music hush it's holy ministry.
- 9:35There is a lesson sweetly taught to thee in the ceaseless song of
- 9:40Zion's temple. Thou too art a constant debtor,
- 9:47and see thou to it that thy gratitude, like charity, never
- 9:51faileth. God's praise is constant in
- 9:54heaven, which is to be thy final dwelling place.
- 9:58Learn thou to practice the eternal Hallelujah around the
- 10:02earth. As the sun scatters his light,
- 10:06his beams awaken grateful believers to tune their morning
- 10:10hymn, so that by the priesthood of the Saints, perpetual praise
- 10:15is kept up at all hours. They clothe our globe in a
- 10:20mantle of Thanksgiving and girdled it with a golden belt of
- 10:24song. The Lord always deserves to be
- 10:28praised for what He is in Himself, for His works of
- 10:32creation and Providence, for His goodness towards His creatures,
- 10:36and especially for the transcended act of redemption
- 10:40and all the marvelous blessing flowing therefrom.
- 10:44And it's always beneficial to praise the Lord.
- 10:46It cheers the day and brightens the night.
- 10:49It lightens toil and softens sorrow, and over earthly
- 10:53gladness it sheds a sanctifying radiance which makes it less
- 10:58liable to blind us with its glare.
- 11:02Have we not something to sing about at this moment?
- 11:08Can we not weave a song out of our present joys, or our past
- 11:13deliverances, or our future hopes?
- 11:19He leaves us with a question. What do you have to praise the
- 11:24Lord for at this very moment? Psalm 119.
- 11:29The psalmist says these words. Psalm 119, verse #164 Seven
- 11:38times a day I will praise Thee. Does that mean that I set my
- 11:46clock for seven different times a day for an alarm to go off for
- 11:51me to say praise the Lord, or to thank Him for what happened over
- 11:54the last two hours? So at 8:00 I praise Him.
- 11:57At 10:00 I praise Him. At noon I praise Him.
- 11:59At 2 I praise Him. At 4:00 and 6:00 and 8:00 I
- 12:02praise Him. Seven times a day I praise the
- 12:04Lord. Is that what that means?
- 12:05No, now 7 is the number of completion.
- 12:08It's the number of perfection. The psalmist is saying my praise
- 12:14for thee will be complete. It will, it will encompass the
- 12:19the perfections of the day, the completion of the day.
- 12:24My life will be incomplete if I don't praise you, but my life
- 12:28will. My life will be complete if I do
- 12:31praise you. That's what he says.
- 12:36The psalmist understands perpetual praise.
- 12:42The psalmist understands the perpetuity of praise, that it's
- 12:46something that's lasting not just now through this life, but
- 12:52makes its way into eternal life. For praise truly will be the
- 13:00eternal service of those who dwell in the presence of the
- 13:06living God. Amen.
- 13:07Thank you again. It was Spurgeon who said these
- 13:13words. He says it is a great thing to
- 13:18praise Jesus Christ by day, but there is no music sweeter than
- 13:24the nightingales. And she praises God by night.
- 13:29His well to praise the Lord for His mercy when you are in
- 13:34health, but make sure that you do it when you are sick, for
- 13:40then your praise is more likely to be genuine when you are deep
- 13:45down in sorrow. Do not rob God of the gratitude
- 13:49that is due Him. Never stint Him of His revenue
- 13:54of praise. Whatever else goes short, Praise
- 13:59Him sometimes on the high sounding symbols with all your
- 14:03heart and being. But when you cannot do that,
- 14:09just sit and mean His praise and solemn silence in the deep quiet
- 14:17of your spirit. Because I want to say it would
- 14:20create an almost miraculous change in some people's lives if
- 14:25they made a point of speaking most of the precious things and
- 14:31least of the worries and ills. Why always the poverty, Why
- 14:40always the pains, Why always the dying child?
- 14:43Why always the husband's small wages?
- 14:46Why always the unkindness of a friend?
- 14:48Why not sometimes? Yes, and why not always the
- 14:52mercies of the Lord? That is praise, and it is to be
- 14:57our everyday garments. So true.
- 15:03We are looking at the pathway of praise, and we are still
- 15:08covering this topic, the perpetuity of praise, and giving
- 15:12you the principles that would allow you to continue on day
- 15:16after day, seven times a day or all day, lifting up your hands
- 15:21or making sure that as long as you live, you will praise the
- 15:24Lord. Giving you the principles that
- 15:26will help you understand that as you go through the day, God's
- 15:30power is available. And because God's power is
- 15:37available, His promises are undeniable.
- 15:42And because His promises are undeniable, His presence is
- 15:47unavoidable. And because His presence is
- 15:51unavoidable, then we know that His Providence is unsearchable,
- 15:59The Providence of God. Have you ever taken a moment and
- 16:04look back at your life and watched and seen all the things
- 16:09that God has done by bringing you where you are to this point
- 16:13today? It's so important to do that
- 16:20because as you look back and see what God has done, you're able
- 16:24to see how God is going to manifest Himself daily in your
- 16:28lives. That that's just so important.
- 16:31You read the Old Testament. They were written for our
- 16:34encouragement. Romans 15, four says why?
- 16:37Because you see how God led his people all throughout the
- 16:40wilderness wanderings, how He led the kings and the judges,
- 16:44how he led the priests and the prophets, how God was
- 16:47orchestrating everything, determining every event under
- 16:51the heavens to bring about His glory.
- 16:54The precision of His plan, the precision of His prophecy all
- 16:58being fulfilled so that he can say in Galatians 4, in the
- 17:02fullness of time, God sent forth the Son born of a woman, born
- 17:08under the law, that he might redeem his people in the
- 17:13fullness of time. In other words, at the perfect
- 17:16time, it was the right time. It was the, the, the specific
- 17:21time God had made a plan and that plan was to make sure that
- 17:25a son came at the right time and all the events, everything was
- 17:31right socially, everything was right politically, everything
- 17:35was right religiously. Israel was right where God
- 17:38wanted them to be so that he would send forth his son at the
- 17:42proper time. The Providence of God, it's,
- 17:47it's unsearchable, it's unfathomable.
- 17:52It goes way beyond anything we can imagine because God
- 17:56orchestrates all things and brings about his perfect plan.
- 18:02But as you travel the pathway of praise, there is times in which
- 18:09we we sin, there's disobedience on our part, There's times we
- 18:17think things we should never think about.
- 18:19We do things we should never do, and we realize that we've sinned
- 18:25against the Lord. So as you travel the pathway of
- 18:30praise, the 5th principle is this, that His pardon is
- 18:35invaluable. His pardon is invaluable.
- 18:44Bless the Lord, O my soul, and all that is within me.
- 18:48Bless His holy name, bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget none
- 18:53of his benefits. And the very first one the
- 18:57psalmist mentions is that he pardons all my iniquities.
- 19:05It is so, so valuable. It is so important to realize
- 19:13that God is the forgiver of man's sins.
- 19:19So no longer, no matter how long the journey or how many sins are
- 19:24committed in that journey, if we confess our sins, our God is
- 19:29faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from
- 19:32all unrighteousness. That's why the psalmist says in
- 19:38in Psalm 32, How blessed is he whose transgression is forgiven,
- 19:44whose sin is covered, How blessed is the man to whom the
- 19:48Lord does not impute iniquity, in whose spirit there is no
- 19:52deceit. When I kept silent about my sin,
- 19:57my body wasted away through my groaning all day long.
- 20:03For day and night your hand was heavy upon me.
- 20:08My vitality was drained away, as with the fever heat of summer.
- 20:18So wonder solemnly recorded in Proverbs 2928.
- 20:24Excuse me, 13 that he who covers his transgressions will not
- 20:29prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them shall find
- 20:37compassion. And here is David talking about
- 20:41the blessing that comes with the forgiveness of God.
- 20:45But while he hid his sin and concealed his sin, so he thought
- 20:49he was, the Lord knew. And so he testifies to the fact
- 20:54that God's hand was heavy upon him.
- 20:58He drained his couch with tears. Because you see, God doesn't
- 21:04allow his children to continue in sin without confessing the
- 21:08sin, without turning from the sin.
- 21:13And Dave is a classic example of that.
- 21:17He said God's hand was heavy upon me.
- 21:20Verse 5 So I acknowledge my sin to you and my iniquity.
- 21:23I did not hide. I said, I will confess my
- 21:26transgressions to the Lord, and you forgave the guilt of my sin.
- 21:33That is just so great, and therefore let everyone who is
- 21:37godly pray to you in a time when you may be found surely in a
- 21:41flood of great waters, they will not reach him.
- 21:48You are my hiding place, You preserve me from trouble.
- 21:53You surround me with songs of deliverance.
- 22:01The Bible says, and Isaiah 53 verse 4.
- 22:06Surely our grief see Himself bore, and our sorrows He
- 22:09carried. Yet we ourselves esteem Him
- 22:11stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.
- 22:14But he was pierced through for our transgressions.
- 22:17He was crushed for our iniquities.
- 22:19The chastening for our well-being fell upon Him, and by
- 22:23His scourging we are healed. All of us, like sheep have gone
- 22:28astray. Each of us has turned to his own
- 22:30way, but the Lord has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on
- 22:36him. He was oppressed and he was
- 22:39afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth.
- 22:41Like a land that has led to slaughter, and like a sheep that
- 22:44a silent before its shearers, so he did not open his mouth.
- 22:49By oppression and judgement He was taken away and asked for his
- 22:54his generation who considered that he was cut off out of the
- 22:58land of the living for the transgression of my people to
- 23:03whom the stroke was due. It just goes to show you that
- 23:09our Lord is the one who who forgives us all of our sins.
- 23:14I love what what Nehemiah said in Nehemiah chapter Chapter 9
- 23:20verse #17 You are a God of forgiveness, gracious and
- 23:28compassionate, slow to anger, abundant in loving kindness.
- 23:37Micah would say in seven verse #18 Who was a God like you who
- 23:43pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious acts of his
- 23:50possession, who does not retain his anger forever?
- 23:58Psalm 85. Psalm 85, verse #3 You forgive
- 24:04the iniquity of your people. You covered all their sin.
- 24:08You withdrew all your fury. You turned away from your
- 24:14burning anger. Then over in Isaiah chapter,
- 24:21chapter 43, the prophet Isaiah records these words in verse 25.
- 24:30God says, I even I am the one who wipes out your
- 24:33transgressions for my own sake, and I will not remember your
- 24:42sins. Why is it I can continue down
- 24:47the pathway of praise, giving thanks, rejoicing in God?
- 24:52It's because His pardon is invaluable to me.
- 24:57I know that I will sin. I know that I will offend my
- 25:01God. I know that there's times going
- 25:03to come that I will not be pleasing to Him.
- 25:05And so I go to him and when I when I go to him, he so
- 25:09willingly forgives all of our transgressions.
- 25:13It's not that they are not already forgiven, because they
- 25:16are. Ephesians tells us that they
- 25:18were forgiven in the past, present and future.
- 25:21His forgiveness is all-encompassing and the very
- 25:25first words on the cross where Father forgive them for they
- 25:28know not what they are doing. And even though they necessarily
- 25:33weren't forgiven at that point, he was saying there's
- 25:36forgiveness. That's that's available to those
- 25:39who will come to me and repent of their sin and turn to me.
- 25:43I will forgive you. Even though He hung on the
- 25:46cross, but His purpose in coming was to cleanse us from our sin.
- 25:55And so when we give our lives to Christ positionally in Christ,
- 25:59we are totally forgiven of all of our sins.
- 26:05But the reason we confess our sins, the reason we forsake our
- 26:09sins is because we want the fellowship and the communion
- 26:14with God to be intimate and sweet.
- 26:18But because of my sin, I bring up a barrier between me and my
- 26:23God. It's it's like you and your
- 26:24children, right? As a father loves his children
- 26:27and is willing to forgive his his children.
- 26:30When a child sins against him, he is willing to forgive.
- 26:33He wants to forgive. He has forgiven.
- 26:37But the spirit of forgiveness doesn't mean that the Son is
- 26:41forgiven. He must come and repent of a
- 26:44sin. And when he does, the barrier
- 26:48that the Son put up is torn down.
- 26:51The sweetness of the communion then begins to happen and to
- 26:55flow because there's been repentance, there's been a
- 26:58confession of sin. So in a practical sense, not in
- 27:04a positional sense, because positionally we are, we are
- 27:08forgiven in Christ, but from a practical sense, from the sense
- 27:12of our communion and intimacy with Him.
- 27:14It comes because we go to Him and we confess our sins because
- 27:18we want to be right with our God.
- 27:20We don't want there to be a barrier between US and Him
- 27:23because we've erected the barrier of sin.
- 27:27So we go to Him and we ask forgiveness and confess our
- 27:32sins. The word confess means to say
- 27:34the same thing. So we say the same thing about
- 27:38our sin that God says about our sin.
- 27:42And we go to him, and he forgives so willingly, so
- 27:45freely, because that's the kind of God we serve.
- 27:50That's why along the pathway of praise, you must remember that
- 27:56His pardon is invaluable. It will cause you to praise Him
- 28:00all the more for His willingness to forgive you of all your sins.
- 28:09So as you travel, remember the power of God is available.
- 28:17The promises of God are undeniable.
- 28:21The presence of God is unavoidable.
- 28:26The Providence of God is unsearchable, His pardon
- 28:34invaluable. Invaluable.
- 28:39Remember in Matthew Chapter 9, when the paralyzed man was
- 28:44healed, they dropped him down through the roof.
- 28:50They couldn't get in because the crowds were so big around the
- 28:52house that the text literally says they unroofed the roof.
- 29:00And Can you imagine? Jesus is sitting in the house
- 29:03and he's teaching people about his Kingdom, and all of a sudden
- 29:08all of the dirt and the hay and wood come falling down upon all
- 29:14who are sitting there because the paralyzed man had to get in
- 29:17to see Jesus. And then they would lower him
- 29:22down right before him. And Jesus says to him, My son,
- 29:29your sins are forgiven. Well, why?
- 29:37And the Pharisees that were there began to say to
- 29:40themselves, This man blasphemes. And then the text says that
- 29:46Jesus knowing what they were thinking, that's just so good.
- 29:50I love that because you know, when I'm preaching, I have no
- 29:53idea what you're thinking, but the Lord does.
- 29:57He knows exactly what's on your mind right now.
- 30:00Those of you are thinking about lunch plans and those of you
- 30:03think about football plans this afternoon.
- 30:06He knows what's on your mind, but he knows what's on their
- 30:09mind. So he says, let me ask you guys
- 30:12a question. Which is easier to say your sins
- 30:15are forgiven or to take up your bed and walk?
- 30:20Well, the answer is simple, just say you're forgiven.
- 30:25Why? Because who's going to know?
- 30:27That's right? But if I say to you first take
- 30:30up your bed and walk and you don't walk, then you're a liar.
- 30:35You can't do anything. So the Son of Man says your sins
- 30:39are forgiven, but to prove to you his sons are his sins are
- 30:42forgiven, he says take up your bed and walk in.
- 30:45The paralyzed man takes up his bed and walks out of the house.
- 30:50So great. So in that from that context,
- 30:55Matthew takes us to the call of Matthew, and Matthew is a tax
- 31:00collector. He was below the sinners.
- 31:04He was below the prostitutes, He was, he was below the
- 31:08adulterers. He was the worst of the worst.
- 31:13And Jesus says follow me and Matthew leaves.
- 31:17It all follows Christ. And Matthew was so overwhelmed
- 31:24by the forgiveness of God, he invites all the tax gatherers
- 31:28and all the sinners that he knows to come to his house for
- 31:31dinner. And Jesus and the disciples dine
- 31:34with the tax gatherers and the sinners.
- 31:36And again the Pharisees are so upset because here he is dining
- 31:41with the filthy riffraff of the day and not dining with them,
- 31:47the religious elite of the day. And Jesus says you guys missed
- 31:53it. I've not come to call the
- 31:56righteous. I've come to call the sinners to
- 32:01repentance. That was his ministry.
- 32:05Our gods are forgiving God. And so as you travel the pathway
- 32:10of praise, there's going to come incidences and times and issues
- 32:15that will arise where you will sin against the Lord.
- 32:17That's why his pardon is so invaluable that you can go to
- 32:21him and say, God, please forgive me in my sin.
- 32:24And God does that. He wants to, he wants to
- 32:28fellowship with you more than you want the fellowship with
- 32:31him. And so he he longs for you.
- 32:37He wants to dwell in intimacy with you.
- 32:41His pardon is invaluable. Next, his provision is
- 32:51indescribable. His provision is indescribable.
- 32:592nd Corinthians 915 Thanks being to God for his indescribable
- 33:04gift. Thanks being to God for his
- 33:06incomparable gift. Thanks being to God for His
- 33:09irresistible gift. What's the gift?
- 33:14The gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
- 33:19Romans 623 The gift is eternal life.
- 33:24That's His provision, but his provision goes way beyond that
- 33:29because He is a son and a shield, Psalm 84 tells us, and
- 33:34that no good thing does the Lord withhold from those who walk
- 33:38uprightly. Psalm 8411, what a beautiful
- 33:42verse. But our Lord's a son and the
- 33:45shield. He's a provider and a protector.
- 33:48And so because his, his provision is indescribable,
- 33:52because it is, how do you describe eternal life?
- 33:57How do you do that? How do you describe the the
- 34:02angels, Peter tells us, look down upon the redeemed and
- 34:05scratch their heads. They don't want to stand it.
- 34:10They don't get it. And yet we in our finite sinful
- 34:15minds expect to describe eternal life, describe the forgiveness
- 34:21of sins. We can't do that.
- 34:24It's indescribable. And so you you thank God for his
- 34:31provision of salvation. You go all the way back to
- 34:33Genesis 22. We've already talked about this
- 34:36where Abraham named that place Yabe Yuray, the Lord, my
- 34:41provider. The Lord would provide the
- 34:44substitute at the right moment, at the right time within His
- 34:48Providence so that you would not have to pay the price for your
- 34:55sin. God did that, His wonderful
- 34:59provision so indescribable. The Bible says that eternal life
- 35:10is imperishable. It tells us that our inheritance
- 35:18not only is imperishable, it's incorruptible.
- 35:22We, we don't understand that we, we live in the law of the second
- 35:27law of thermodynamics, where everything is getting worse and
- 35:31worse, not getting better and better.
- 35:33Everything is crumbling. Just look at your own life.
- 35:36You're getting older, you're not getting more fit, you're getting
- 35:40less fit. You know you're not getting
- 35:43stronger, you're getting weaker. Why?
- 35:46Because your body's breaking down.
- 35:49But yet eternal life is incorruptible.
- 35:53It's imperishable. The call of God, Romans 11/29 is
- 35:58irrevocable. The gifts and calling of God are
- 36:02irrevocable. God never takes it back.
- 36:04God says, you know, I know, I forgave you, but no more.
- 36:07I'm taking the gift of eternal life back from you.
- 36:10No, He didn't do that. It's it's the unchangeable God,
- 36:15the immutability of God, the greatness of God that allows us
- 36:19to be forgiven of our sins and that we are securing Him.
- 36:23The provision of God is indescribable.
- 36:27And we live in that realm because we want to try to
- 36:31explain to you all that eternal life means we just can't.
- 36:35It's the life with the eternal God in His presence forever and
- 36:41ever and ever. But it goes beyond an extended
- 36:47life. Why?
- 36:49Because the unbeliever, he will have an extended life in hell.
- 36:55His eternity will be spent in hell.
- 36:58But the eternal life is the quality of life that God gives.
- 37:03His children have a certain quality of life that those who
- 37:07are not as children do not have. They do not have that quality of
- 37:11life that springs from the inside out because of what God
- 37:16has done to cleanse their soul from their sin and give them
- 37:21eternal life. How great is that?
- 37:27His pardon is invaluable. His provision is indescribable.
- 37:34And let me give you one more and Lord willing, I'll finish it
- 37:38next week. His person is adorable, His
- 37:47person's worthy of adoration. And we've already talked to you
- 37:52about the person of praise and why it's so important to to bow
- 37:55before and the magi when they, when they came to the house,
- 37:58they bowed before the Lord and worshipped him out of adoration.
- 38:05There's something about our our Lord that makes him so
- 38:09incredibly majestic that we can't help but bow before him
- 38:16and worship him. The psalmist said in Psalm 97
- 38:20verse #12 Be glad in the Lord, you righteous ones, and give
- 38:25thanks to his holy name. Give praise and Thanksgiving to
- 38:30the holy name of God. I love what it says in in Psalm
- 38:36145. I would extol you, Oh my God, O
- 38:42King, I will bless your name forever and ever every day I
- 38:45will bless you and I will praise your name forever and ever.
- 38:49Four times the psalmist says I will do this, I will do this.
- 38:53I'm giving you my word. This is what I'm going to do all
- 38:56day long, forever and ever. I'm going to praise your name.
- 39:00Great is the Lord how to be praised, and His greatness is
- 39:04untraceable. One generation shall praise you,
- 39:09your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts on the
- 39:13glorious splendor of Your majesty.
- 39:15And on your wonderful works I will meditate.
- 39:18Men will speak of the power of your awesome acts, and I will
- 39:22tell of Your greatness. They will eagerly utter the
- 39:25memory of Your abundant goodness, and will shout
- 39:28joyfully of your righteousness. The Lord is gracious and
- 39:34merciful, slow to anger, and great in loving kindness.
- 39:38The Lord is good to all, and His mercies are over.
- 39:44All His works. All your works shall give thanks
- 39:50to you, O Lord, and your godly ones shall bless you.
- 39:58His person is adorable, worthy of adoration.
- 40:06When you can't think of anything to praise the Lord for that day,
- 40:11as you travel the pathway of praise, you always remember His
- 40:14holy name and give thanks to Him.
- 40:18You remember that He's the Lord, my Provider, the Lord, my
- 40:21Shepherd. He is the Lord of hosts, the one
- 40:24who fights for me and protects me.
- 40:26I thank Him for those things by thinking that he's a sovereign
- 40:30God of the universe who overrides everything because he
- 40:34rules over everything. That's who he is, Spurgeon said.
- 40:46These words we don't sing enough.
- 40:51My brothers and sisters, how often do I stir you up about the
- 40:56matter of prayer? But perhaps I might be just as
- 40:59earnest about the matter of praise.
- 41:01Do we sing as much as the birds do?
- 41:06Yet what have birds to sing about compared with us?
- 41:11Do you think we sing as much as the angels do?
- 41:15Yet they were never redeemed by the blood of Christ.
- 41:21He says many of our doubts and fears would fly away if we
- 41:26praised God more, and many of our trials and troubles would
- 41:30all together vanish if we began to sing of our mercies.
- 41:34Often times, depression of spirit that will not yield to a
- 41:38whole night of wrestling would yield to 10 minutes of
- 41:43Thanksgiving before God. The perpetuity of praise needs
- 41:51to be understood as you travel the pathway of praise.
- 41:56And because of what God has made available to you through His
- 42:01power and His presence, through His promises and through His
- 42:04provisions, through His pardon and through His person, we have
- 42:10no excuse not to praise the Lord.
- 42:17Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord.
- 42:23Let's pray together. Father God, we thank you for
- 42:27today. We are grateful for all that you
- 42:31have done. Forgive us Lord, for going
- 42:36through days, nights, weeks without lifting our voices in
- 42:43praise. Our prayer, Father, is that we
- 42:48would be cloaked with the garment of praise every single
- 42:56day. You've formed us for yourself,
- 43:01and the people that you have formed for yourself will declare
- 43:04your praise. May we do that, Lord,
- 43:10constantly, continually, consistently, as we travel the
- 43:19pathway of praise until that day where we go home to be with the
- 43:25Christ and we'll live the life of eternal praise in your
- 43:33presence. In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
