- 0:22Speaker 2: and stays hot in the college football the nfl and
- 0:26Speaker 2: even if you're a Big UFC or MMA fan. He's
- 0:29Speaker 2: got picks for that as well. ParamountSports.com, 800-400-9741. Lee Sterling
- 0:36Speaker 2: joins us again to talk about some of the picks
- 0:38Speaker 2: of the week.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Hi, Lee. Hey, how are you? You know what's crazy?
- 0:42Speaker 3: I was just hearing the news and watching the win.
- 0:45Speaker 3: How does Israel Bonfim misweight by 7 1⁄2 pounds?
- 0:52Speaker 2: That is so unprofessional, and you're just not trying at
- 0:56Speaker 2: that point. Now, if it's a super late-notice fight, you've
- 0:58Speaker 2: got to make sure that your manager negotiates that in,
- 1:02Speaker 2: catchweight opportunity, which the UFC doesn't like to give you.
- 1:05Speaker 4: But that's a bad, bad sign for Israel Bonfim.
- 1:10Speaker 3: And I was going to go against him, too. So,
- 1:13Speaker 3: you know, let him sit in the sweat box for
- 1:16Speaker 3: a few hours, see if he can get even closer,
- 1:18Speaker 3: and then I'll put even more money on Prado.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Let's talk about the picks of the week here, Lee. Well,
- 1:26Speaker 2: first of all, staying hot from last week. 3-1-1 on
- 1:31Speaker 2: the picks you gave us last week. You got a
- 1:34Speaker 2: really interesting slate of college football this weekend, and we're
- 1:37Speaker 2: starting off hot with a top six matchup. Alabama, Georgia, Bama,
- 1:42Speaker 2: one and a half point favorites in this barn burner.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and I just checked the weather, and it looks
- 1:49Speaker 3: like we find maybe a light drizzle during the game,
- 1:52Speaker 3: but That field ranged super well. And, you know, these
- 1:56Speaker 3: two teams could end up meeting again in the SEC
- 1:59Speaker 3: championship game or the college football playoffs. It's tough to
- 2:03Speaker 3: go against top-tier quarterbacks. But you've got to pick one
- 2:07Speaker 3: to go against here. Maybe it's Gunnar Stockton. And as
- 2:10Speaker 3: good as he is, I mean, he's a winner. He
- 2:13Speaker 3: could win a national championship. He is that much of
- 2:16Speaker 3: a leader. A lot of times on third and seven,
- 2:18Speaker 3: he'll make the throw that moves the change. He'll dive
- 2:22Speaker 3: for the first down. His team feeds off him. And
- 2:25Speaker 3: the defense is really good. They're linebackers. Oh, my God.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I don't know if I've ever seen linebackers that can
- 2:31Speaker 3: pursue sideline to sideline like these two guys. But The
- 2:36Speaker 3: difference here is I think injuries to their running backs.
- 2:39Speaker 3: Top two guys might be on a pitch count, and
- 2:43Speaker 3: maybe one or two of their top three receivers may
- 2:45Speaker 3: miss this game. So I think Alabama has more quick
- 2:49Speaker 3: strike capability on offense and defense. Yeah, they give up
- 2:53Speaker 3: more yards and points, but they also have eight interceptions,
- 2:56Speaker 3: and they've taken two to the house. I just think
- 2:59Speaker 3: that Alabama at home with Keelan Russell, quarterback, just more dangerous.
- 3:03Speaker 3: They can go to the house. on any play on you.
- 3:06Speaker 3: I like Alabama. Should be an instant classic here, 30-27.
- 3:09Speaker 2: I'm going to save the BYU and Utah games best
- 3:13Speaker 2: for last here, so we'll get to some NFL picks.
- 3:16Speaker 2: The Rams are three-point favorites against the Bills.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I don't know. The Rams, we talked about the Rams.
- 3:24Speaker 2: We crowned the Rams before the season started as the
- 3:26Speaker 2: eventual Super Bowl champions. They still haven't had Aaron Donald
- 3:29Speaker 2: and Miles Garrett playing together. That will happen eventually. They
- 3:33Speaker 2: are three-point favorites against the Bills team that also has
- 3:36Speaker 2: Super Bowl expectations. Are we getting a preview of what
- 3:39Speaker 2: we might see in the last game of the season?
- 3:42Speaker 3: Oh, I think it could happen here. I do like
- 3:45Speaker 3: the setup, though, for Buffalo coming off seven turnovers the
- 3:47Speaker 3: last two weeks. Rams defensive unit shows so many different looks,
- 3:51Speaker 3: but Josh Allen is seen. He just needs to be
- 3:54Speaker 3: a little more careful with the ball. If they were
- 3:56Speaker 3: coming in 4-0, I think the Rams might knock them
- 3:58Speaker 3: off here, but I think they have a chip on
- 4:01Speaker 3: their shoulder a lot of times when teams travel off
- 4:03Speaker 3: of a loss. If they're a top-tier team, they get
- 4:05Speaker 3: a couple guys back, especially on the defense. They're a
- 4:09Speaker 3: dangerous team here. So I like Buffalo. Last team with
- 4:13Speaker 3: a ball wins. Give me the bills here, 34-30.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Seahawks, Niners. Niners are my team, Lee. Tread carefully here.
- 4:23Speaker 2: Seahawks are favorites at home.
- 4:25Speaker 3: Well, we had them last week, and as long as
- 4:28Speaker 3: they don't take any more injuries, I think they should
- 4:31Speaker 3: be okay. This is a great setup. San Francisco was
- 4:34Speaker 3: coming off the short week last year in the playoffs,
- 4:38Speaker 3: had to travel to Seattle in the NFC divisional round
- 4:41Speaker 3: and got blown out 41-6. I think they have the
- 4:44Speaker 3: better quarterback right now. I think Brock Purdy's playing the
- 4:48Speaker 3: best football of any quarterback in the league, and I
- 4:51Speaker 3: think Sam Darnold, something's missing right now. He's not clicking
- 4:53Speaker 3: on all cylinders, and Seattle, here's a tell, tells you
- 4:59Speaker 3: how bad things are at running back. They were thinking about,
- 5:01Speaker 3: and not just for a minute, until they brought him
- 5:03Speaker 3: in for a physical on signing Joe Mixon. Are you
- 5:07Speaker 3: kidding me here? I like San Francisco. I think they
- 5:10Speaker 3: exact that revenge here, 27-23.
- 5:13Speaker 4: Let's go. That's what we need.
- 5:16Speaker 2: The game of the week, Boise State, who I think
- 5:18Speaker 2: is the best group of six team we have in
- 5:20Speaker 2: the country. They're six-and-a-half point favorites in a conference matchup
- 5:23Speaker 2: against Fresno State.
- 5:25Speaker 3: Yep, they want to get that game for free. This
- 5:28Speaker 3: has become a big game all of a sudden. So
- 5:31Speaker 3: two teams playing at a high level, you want to
- 5:33Speaker 3: get it for free, just call that number, 800-400-9741. Give
- 5:38Speaker 3: you the game for free. And a lot going on.
- 5:40Speaker 3: You know, the UFC, another big card for us. We
- 5:44Speaker 3: won 16 of the last 20 cards. Five selections, $ 55 there.
- 5:49Speaker 3: In football, we've won six straight weeks. I don't think
- 5:52Speaker 3: anyone in the country can match that documented record. Check
- 5:55Speaker 3: out all the specials at ParamountSports.com.
- 5:58Speaker 4: All right.
- 5:59Speaker 2: I really wanted your help with this one. We've been
- 6:01Speaker 2: talking about it kind of all week and certainly a
- 6:03Speaker 2: lot today. Big injury news at BYU. They're down their
- 6:07Speaker 2: top two running backs. One of their best linebackers is out.
- 6:10Speaker 2: Raider DeMooney they thought was going to be a starting safety.
- 6:13Speaker 2: He's yet to play any significant time this year. BYU,
- 6:17Speaker 2: ten-and-a-half-point favorites. It's a night game tonight at Lavelle Edwards
- 6:22Speaker 2: Stadium against an Iowa State team that, after getting beat
- 6:26Speaker 2: up by Utah, showed a lot of life last week
- 6:28Speaker 2: and ran all over the place. Ten-and-a-half feels big to me, Lee.
- 6:33Speaker 2: I wanted your thoughts.
- 6:35Speaker 3: I feel the same way here. You know, Bear Bachmeier,
- 6:38Speaker 3: I mean, the kid has heart. Running from the football,
- 6:41Speaker 3: he's a leader. But they just don't have quick strike
- 6:44Speaker 3: capability on offense. I mean, the defense, probably the hardest-hitting
- 6:48Speaker 3: defense I've seen in a couple years. They smack you.
- 6:51Speaker 3: I would not want to face them. But on offense,
- 6:54Speaker 3: I don't see this team scoring 30, 40 points. So
- 6:57Speaker 3: do you want to lay double digits to a team
- 6:59Speaker 3: that has a running back that can do it all,
- 7:02Speaker 3: running the football, catching the ball out of the backfield?
- 7:04Speaker 4: No.
- 7:05Speaker 3: And they've got confidence. You know, they played with Iowa
- 7:08Speaker 3: on the road, lost by three, didn't give up against Utah.
- 7:12Speaker 3: So I think it's going to be a low-scoring game here.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I think BYU escapes here 21-17, but I'm taking the
- 7:20Speaker 3: double-digit points here in the Cyclones.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Okay, I thought that might be your pick.
- 7:25Speaker 2: Also, Aiden Flora, who you just referenced, a running back
- 7:28Speaker 2: who can do it all, against Utah, they held him
- 7:31Speaker 2: to four yards a carry. That's still a respectable average, but...
- 7:35Speaker 2: They went away from him too much in that game.
- 7:38Speaker 2: He only got 13 carries in that game against Utah
- 7:40Speaker 2: because they were trailing so much after a really bad
- 7:43Speaker 2: first half. If they can stay the course and keep
- 7:46Speaker 2: feeding him the ball, even if they're trailing against BYU,
- 7:49Speaker 2: I think we're talking about exactly what you're mentioning here,
- 7:51Speaker 2: a much closer game.
- 7:53Speaker 3: Yep, I agree with you 100%. He's a whale of
- 7:56Speaker 3: a football player. You know, I don't know, sometimes you
- 7:58Speaker 3: see guys like that and they don't project to the
- 8:01Speaker 3: next level. This guy might be able to find his
- 8:03Speaker 3: way onto a roster and even contribute.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Little baby Christian McCaffrey, for obvious reasons, you get that comparison.
- 8:10Speaker 4: All right.
- 8:11Speaker 2: Big one tomorrow night at Rice Echo Stadium. I don't
- 8:14Speaker 2: know if you've seen the iced-out, white-out uniforms that they're
- 8:17Speaker 2: planning for the night game, the hand-painted helmets. Everyone in
- 8:21Speaker 2: the fan base is really fired up about that. The
- 8:23Speaker 2: players are fired up. And they're a big-time favorite. I've
- 8:26Speaker 2: seen it 15 and a half, 15 points. against the
- 8:30Speaker 2: Kansas Jayhawks team that so far has looked pretty hapless
- 8:33Speaker 2: against Power 4 competition. Lee, I'm trying to not be
- 8:38Speaker 2: overconfident here. I'm trying to not be like, oh yeah,
- 8:40Speaker 2: Utah's going to smash this Kansas team. But everything on
- 8:43Speaker 2: tape shows me that they should. Tell me how this
- 8:46Speaker 2: game goes.
- 8:47Speaker 3: Yeah, and they're reckless with the ball. I mean, they
- 8:49Speaker 3: will try sometimes to push the ball down the field,
- 8:52Speaker 3: but you have a young quarterback who's talented. He can
- 8:55Speaker 3: make a lot of throws, but You know, sometimes that
- 8:57Speaker 3: gets you in trouble here. This game actually, what's interesting,
- 9:01Speaker 3: I look back, Kansas did cover in their last game
- 9:04Speaker 3: of 2025 against Utah by a half point. So this
- 9:08Speaker 3: kind of counts as a revenge spot here. But they
- 9:11Speaker 3: just don't give me any reason here to think that
- 9:13Speaker 3: they can pull it off. Utah is hot. Only a
- 9:16Speaker 3: bye week could stop them. Way Sean Parker, 174 rushing
- 9:20Speaker 3: yards and two touchdowns versus Iowa State. And their number
- 9:23Speaker 3: three defense nationally today. giving up just 10.3 points per
- 9:27Speaker 3: game here. I think they're going to get three-plus turnovers here.
- 9:30Speaker 3: That'll be the difference, even special teams. I think Utah
- 9:34Speaker 3: does a number here on Kansas, 41-17.
- 9:38Speaker 2: Win and cover for the Utes, according to Lee Sterling. Again,
- 9:43Speaker 2: Paramount Sports stays red hot. James, my producer, just whispered
- 9:46Speaker 2: in my ear. In the Falcons-Ravens game, it looks like
- 9:50Speaker 2: former Tyler Huntley is going to be starting in this game,
- 9:53Speaker 2: and the Falcons have been one of the surprises of
- 9:55Speaker 2: the NFL for me.
- 9:56Speaker 4: What do you think about that game?
- 9:58Speaker 3: Well, I think Atlanta, and I kind of identified it
- 10:01Speaker 3: when they came back and they got their quarterback, they
- 10:04Speaker 3: were going to be a tough out. They might be
- 10:05Speaker 3: playing the best football right now in the NFL, not
- 10:08Speaker 3: just offensively. Their defense is feeding off of it also.
- 10:12Speaker 3: So most of the yards they've given up has been
- 10:14Speaker 3: in the second half. Tyler Huntley is This is the
- 10:18Speaker 3: only team he seems to be able to be the
- 10:20Speaker 3: right fit, but he just can't push the ball down
- 10:22Speaker 3: the field, and that could be a problem against his defense.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Hate to say it, but I like Atlanta here. I
- 10:28Speaker 3: think they win in cover 30-20. See what I did there?
- 10:31Speaker 4: I just got you all listening.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I got you a little bonus pick from Lee Sterling. 800-400-9741, ParamountSports.com.
- 10:41Speaker 2: Lee is the best in the business. Always great catching
- 10:44Speaker 2: up with you, my friend. We'll chat again next week.
- 10:47Speaker 3: You too, buddy.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Take care.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Be safe.
- 10:49Speaker 4: Great stuff from Lee Sterling, former quarterback himself, by the way.
