Transcript
- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. Happy Friday, Welcome into NFL Now.
- 0:20Speaker 1: I'm Omar Race alongside Kayla Burton here in the NFL
- 0:23Speaker 1: Network news room. And I couldn't help but think Kyle
- 0:26Speaker 1: last night too, when I was on the field four
- 0:28Speaker 1: years ago. Baker Mayfield makes his NFL debut in Cleveland
- 0:31Speaker 1: Thursday Night Football, leads his team to a double digit
- 0:34Speaker 1: score victory, come from behind. What was the energy there
- 0:38Speaker 1: last night when he seemed like he did it again?
- 0:40Speaker 1: The energy was hard to even paint a picture about
- 0:44Speaker 1: because this place erupted in that fourth quarter on that
- 0:48Speaker 1: final drive. And let me just paint the picture for
- 0:50Speaker 1: you guys as media. When we come down from the
- 0:53Speaker 1: press box, we plan on interviewing the winning team. Players
- 0:56Speaker 1: of the winning team. Here are my two cards, one
- 0:58Speaker 1: for Max Crosby, one for Derek Carr. These are my
- 1:01Speaker 1: questions I had for them after the game. You know
- 1:04Speaker 1: the guy I did not have questions written down for
- 1:06Speaker 1: Van Jefferson, the exact player I interviewed after the game.
- 1:10Speaker 1: It was unbelievable. And this is a team that really
- 1:14Speaker 1: went into this with three different quarterbacks they were preparing
- 1:18Speaker 1: for it. Here's Kayla with Van Jefferson after the game.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Then I just heard some of your teammates storming off
- 1:25Speaker 1: this field yelling what was that? Take me through what
- 1:29Speaker 1: just happened? I mean, Baker Mayfield just happened. I think
- 1:32Speaker 1: him coming in and lead his office, you know, in
- 1:34Speaker 1: the last drive. You know, if they was just shows
- 1:36Speaker 1: the type of competitive us, what type of guy is,
- 1:38Speaker 1: and you know he led us to his victory. You
- 1:41Speaker 1: were part of that victory, scoring the game winning touchdown,
- 1:44Speaker 1: described that moment. Yeah, it was great. But we don't
- 1:46Speaker 1: get down there without biscerun It's a big catch right there,
- 1:48Speaker 1: a couple and there he is right there. But that
- 1:53Speaker 1: player that he made to get us down there, and
- 1:55Speaker 1: the way Baker handled the office man, that was just
- 1:57Speaker 1: you know a small part of the whole drive. But
- 1:59Speaker 1: you know, you gotta get a past of other players
- 2:00Speaker 1: that made great place too as well. Baker Mayfield wasn't
- 2:03Speaker 1: even your quarterback to the same morning. Now all this
- 2:05Speaker 1: a sudden he let this win. How is it like
- 2:09Speaker 1: having a bouncer quarter rack? It's great, I mean, and
- 2:16Speaker 1: just show the type guy used. You know, Um, you
- 2:18Speaker 1: know he's been through a lot for him to come
- 2:20Speaker 1: in and just do what he did because amazing, you know,
- 2:23Speaker 1: and he's just a great, god great competitor. He came
- 2:25Speaker 1: in and learned from Matt I studying John and those guys,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and he picked up the office quick. So prop to him,
- 2:30Speaker 1: and you know, I'm Betty's here go celebrate this one congratulation.
- 2:33Speaker 1: After the game, Baker Mayfield revealed that he tried to
- 2:36Speaker 1: recruit Van Jefferson to Oklahoma. Didn't happen. He ended up
- 2:39Speaker 1: going to Florida, so he owed him and paid off.
- 2:42Speaker 1: Big Cooper Cup of course, was paying attention, proud of
- 2:44Speaker 1: these guys. No quick, baby, and welcome to l A.
- 2:48Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield. And of course around the country they were
- 2:51Speaker 1: watching Travis Kelsey also tweeting Baker go crazy and go
- 2:55Speaker 1: crazy he did. How did they pull it off last night?
- 2:57Speaker 1: With composure? They were composed and though they were down
- 3:00Speaker 1: sixteen to three, this team did knock him up. As
- 3:03Speaker 1: I mentioned, I was coming down from the press of
- 3:04Speaker 1: box to the field in that fourth quarter, everyone really
- 3:08Speaker 1: believing that the Raiders had this one. But Sean McVeigh
- 3:11Speaker 1: really credited the defensive stop in the defensive effort we
- 3:15Speaker 1: know that Baker Mayfield, who spent less than forty eight
- 3:18Speaker 1: hours up until this point in that locker room, drove
- 3:21Speaker 1: it down yards for that incredible touchdown play with Van Jefferson.
- 3:25Speaker 1: But Sean McVeigh also credited this defense. He had a
- 3:28Speaker 1: huge stop after the can Makers touchdown on third down,
- 3:31Speaker 1: forcing a fourth and one situation where they punted it
- 3:34Speaker 1: and the Raiders had an incredible punt. They couldn't have
- 3:36Speaker 1: set it up for a better position. But of course
- 3:40Speaker 1: Baker Mayfield, and he wore a hat after that said
- 3:44Speaker 1: it's not my first rodeo. He was asked about that
- 3:46Speaker 1: hat and he goes, this is my first rodeo. As
- 3:49Speaker 1: exhilarating as it was for the Rams, you see the
- 3:51Speaker 1: scene of Baker Mayfield here walking off the field, it
- 3:54Speaker 1: was just as disappointing for the Raiders. What were they
- 3:57Speaker 1: saying after the game, just as you mentioned, very disappointed.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I went into that locker room afterwards, and it was
- 4:02Speaker 1: pure silence. You know, this is a team that was
- 4:04Speaker 1: righting a three game win streak, but also in the
- 4:06Speaker 1: playoff picture, they were on the outside looking in. I
- 4:09Speaker 1: spoke with defensive end Max Crosby and he took a moment.
- 4:13Speaker 1: It was pure silence from him for a second, and
- 4:16Speaker 1: he said, we just did not make enough place to
- 4:18Speaker 1: close this out. This is not their first rodeo when
- 4:20Speaker 1: it comes to blowing a double digit lead for the
- 4:23Speaker 1: fourth time now this season, that has been the case,
- 4:26Speaker 1: and now more than ever they say, as long as
- 4:28Speaker 1: well as Derek Carr and this coaching staff say, there
- 4:31Speaker 1: is going to be quote no room for error moving forward. Yeah,
- 4:35Speaker 1: certainly five and eight a much different story for the
- 4:37Speaker 1: Raiders than they would have been even just six and
- 4:40Speaker 1: seven when you factor in those other games that they
- 4:42Speaker 1: could have should have had. A much different season could
- 4:44Speaker 1: have been told about the Raiders here in two but
- 4:47Speaker 1: rams a thrilling wins seventeen sixteen. Kayla, thank you very much.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Can draw it up any better than that, or like
- 4:53Speaker 1: Sean McVeigh, Joe just like they drew it up, Just
- 4:55Speaker 1: like they drew it up, pure sarcasm, right, thank you, Kayla. Meanwhile,
- 4:58Speaker 1: also last night it was revealed on Amazon Prime Video,
- 5:02Speaker 1: Odell Beckham Jr. Gave us is update on all the
- 5:06Speaker 1: recruitment pitches. Of course, he's visited multiple teams, most recently Dallas,
- 5:11Speaker 1: causing a bunch of headlines, and he had this to
- 5:13Speaker 1: say last night. Two things before you get out of here,
- 5:23Speaker 1: you're ready to go, and you don't gonna tell us,
- 5:26Speaker 1: so we would appreciate if you do in the shop.
- 5:28Speaker 1: Have you made the decision up in your own hand
- 5:30Speaker 1: and where you're going and are you are you ready? However,
- 5:32Speaker 1: I haven't made the decision. And for me, it's like
- 5:34Speaker 1: I would like I would like to to be in
- 5:37Speaker 1: a stable environment, get up six am, leave at six
- 5:39Speaker 1: pm for four weeks and then let's talk about it.
- 5:43Speaker 1: I've I've played football for a long song. Like, uh,
- 5:47Speaker 1: I'm not saying that I couldn't step in and play
- 5:49Speaker 1: regular season, but I don't see the point, all right,
- 5:52Speaker 1: So he doesn't see the point of playing in the
- 5:54Speaker 1: regular season. So it might be caused for delay on
- 5:57Speaker 1: why O b J hasn't seen a team yet? In
- 6:00Speaker 1: what more can you tell us about the O b
- 6:02Speaker 1: J sweepsticks? We've heard versions of that. Versions of Odell
- 6:07Speaker 1: might not be ready for a couple of weeks. We'll
- 6:08Speaker 1: need some ramp up period. If he signs this week,
- 6:11Speaker 1: he's not gonna get game ready, maybe till the end
- 6:13Speaker 1: of the season. Week seventeen eighteen. We have not tom
- 6:16Speaker 1: heard any version like that, which is essentially Odell Beckham Jr.
- 6:20Speaker 1: The free agent that we've been talking about, Oh, I
- 6:22Speaker 1: don't know, for the last month or so, more than
- 6:24Speaker 1: a month or so, it has been dotting headlines all
- 6:27Speaker 1: over the place, all over the internet, all over TV,
- 6:29Speaker 1: basically saying himself, Yeah, regular season and playoffs are really
- 6:34Speaker 1: where it's out. So what he seems to want to
- 6:36Speaker 1: do is to sign with the team as soon as
- 6:38Speaker 1: he can get paid a regular season salary the balance
- 6:42Speaker 1: of it five weeks or so or four weeks or
- 6:44Speaker 1: so at this point, and then play in the playoffs,
- 6:47Speaker 1: however much that would be, which would be somewhat similar
- 6:50Speaker 1: to what he did with the Rams last year. But
- 6:52Speaker 1: he did play in the regular season, he did get
- 6:54Speaker 1: acclimated on the field. Only took until the playoffs for
- 6:57Speaker 1: him to really hit his stride. I don't know if
- 7:00Speaker 1: there's precedent for this, but I guess if you're Beckham,
- 7:03Speaker 1: why not give it a shot. Well, and I think
- 7:08Speaker 1: that we've been talking about this for weeks here that
- 7:11Speaker 1: the closer and closer you get towards the end of
- 7:12Speaker 1: the regular season, the less the chances are that we
- 7:15Speaker 1: would see Odell in a regular season game. There's not
- 7:17Speaker 1: been a great deal of urgency on his part as
- 7:20Speaker 1: he makes several different visits flies back to l A
- 7:24Speaker 1: doing media obligations. It's always going to be a matter
- 7:27Speaker 1: of getting the cardio back and ramping up with the
- 7:29Speaker 1: injury and then getting in the playbook. Though Baker Mayfield
- 7:32Speaker 1: may be suggested last night that that's not all that
- 7:34Speaker 1: important for Odell, it's not a surprise that his viewpoint
- 7:38Speaker 1: is let's just look at this as trying to get
- 7:41Speaker 1: back for the playoffs. On the flip side of that,
- 7:43Speaker 1: I don't know that it necessarily helps Odell to say
- 7:46Speaker 1: it in those words publicly, And think about this from
- 7:49Speaker 1: a team's perspective to you use the regular season for
- 7:52Speaker 1: a lot of different things, but one of them is
- 7:54Speaker 1: to be at your best when you get into the postseason.
- 7:57Speaker 1: The idea of integrating even a very talented player like
- 8:00Speaker 1: Odell Beckham Jr. Midstream in a playoff game when you
- 8:03Speaker 1: haven't played in the game almost a year, that is
- 8:06Speaker 1: gonna be tough on coaches. I don't know that anything
- 8:09Speaker 1: O'Dell says at this point is going to persuade people
- 8:12Speaker 1: one way or the other on whether or not to
- 8:13Speaker 1: sign him. This is about, as Ian said, the money,
- 8:16Speaker 1: basically signing a guy in advance with a signing bonus,
- 8:19Speaker 1: because you don't get paid in the playoffs anyway, You
- 8:21Speaker 1: just get your small playoffs share. I don't know if
- 8:24Speaker 1: that's gonna change anybody's minds, but it's the reality of
- 8:27Speaker 1: the situation. You're talking about integrating a guy at a
- 8:29Speaker 1: challenging position at the highest leverage point in the entire season.
- 8:33Speaker 1: It might be a good problem to have if that
- 8:35Speaker 1: works out that way. Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson certainly another superstar
- 8:39Speaker 1: we're keeping an eye on. In what more can you
- 8:40Speaker 1: tell us about him? We are not gonna see Lamar Jackton.
- 8:45Speaker 1: It appears on Sunday coach John Harbord just confirming what
- 8:48Speaker 1: it seemed was pretty clear anyway that Tyler snoopinally going
- 8:52Speaker 1: to be their starting quarterback. Lamar Jackson, dealing with a
- 8:55Speaker 1: PCL sprain, has not practiced this week, and its Harbor
- 8:59Speaker 1: alluded too early in the week, probably seemed not very
- 9:02Speaker 1: likely to buy Sunday, so he is going to be
- 9:03Speaker 1: out so han He has been the backup for the
- 9:06Speaker 1: last couple of years, has played pretty well when he's
- 9:08Speaker 1: had the opportunity, including helping close out that game last week.
- 9:11Speaker 1: He assumes the job is starting quarterback this week. We
- 9:14Speaker 1: will see based on where Lamar is rehab wise, if
- 9:17Speaker 1: he's able to miss just one game. And I remember
- 9:22Speaker 1: this is a time where Lamar Jackson is unsigned for
- 9:24Speaker 1: the three season, likely looking at either a franchise tag
- 9:27Speaker 1: or a long term extension with the Ravens, who tried
- 9:30Speaker 1: to get a long term deal done prior to the season,
- 9:33Speaker 1: but it did not in large part because Lamar wanted
- 9:35Speaker 1: to have a fully guaranteed contract that the Browns gave
- 9:38Speaker 1: to Deshaun Watson. As you watch this playout, keep in
- 9:40Speaker 1: mind it's not the first time that Lamar has suffered
- 9:43Speaker 1: an injury down the stretch. Last year, it was a
- 9:45Speaker 1: bone bruise in his ankle. The concern with Lamar, even
- 9:48Speaker 1: going back to his days coming out of Louisville, would
- 9:50Speaker 1: be based upon his frame and his play style. Would
- 9:52Speaker 1: he have the longevity. Longevity is one reason that teams
- 9:56Speaker 1: are skeptical at times about giving people fully guaranteed contracts.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Beyond obviously the president and the funding rule and other
- 10:03Speaker 1: challenges that go into that, but it certainly is a
- 10:06Speaker 1: part of this. We'll see, John Harbaugh said week to
- 10:08Speaker 1: week here this week was always unlikely. Let's see if
- 10:11Speaker 1: he gets back on the field the next week or two.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Here almar Well Lamar's injuries something will be keeping an
- 10:14Speaker 1: eye on in terms of the a f C North
- 10:17Speaker 1: Playoff for race, especially when the Bengals are surging. Meanwhile,
- 10:20Speaker 1: the Ravens opponent this week the Pittsburgh Steelers, who all
- 10:23Speaker 1: of a sudden now are just two games back up
- 10:25Speaker 1: a spot in the a f C playoff picture. What
- 10:28Speaker 1: more can you tell us about their injuries? In Yeah,
- 10:31Speaker 1: they're also a little banged up for really some of
- 10:33Speaker 1: their best players to start with. T J. Watt, the
- 10:35Speaker 1: star pass rusher mr big portion of this season, now
- 10:39Speaker 1: has come back and really come on just like his
- 10:40Speaker 1: old self. He's dealing with a painful rib injury, was
- 10:43Speaker 1: limited all week in practice, officially listed his questionable total
- 10:47Speaker 1: reporters earlier today. It sounds like he's optimistic about getting
- 10:51Speaker 1: out there, but we'll see about his status as we
- 10:53Speaker 1: move forward the next day or so. Deonte Johnson, their
- 10:55Speaker 1: standout receiver, he's been dealing with a hip injury. Officially
- 10:58Speaker 1: listed his question what little cause concern. Was not able
- 11:01Speaker 1: to practice yesterday, but it sounds like there's some optimism
- 11:04Speaker 1: that he goes there as well. And then Naji Harris,
- 11:06Speaker 1: they're starting running back kind of a nagging oblique injury
- 11:09Speaker 1: he's had the last couple of weeks. He was a
- 11:11Speaker 1: full participant today, a sign that he will likely go
- 11:14Speaker 1: on Sunday. Yeah, ahead of that divisional showdown, we have
- 11:17Speaker 1: another one between the Eagles and the Giant. Se Kwon
- 11:20Speaker 1: Barkley popped up on the injury report, Tom, what more
- 11:22Speaker 1: can you tell us about that? Lomar Sae Kwon Barkley
- 11:27Speaker 1: officially listed as questionable for that showdown with the Eagles
- 11:30Speaker 1: after popping up on the injury report on Thursday because
- 11:33Speaker 1: what the team is referred to as a neck injury. Now.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Coach Brian Dable didn't completely dismiss the injury when he's
- 11:40Speaker 1: booked reporters today. Also didn't cause too much for a sound,
- 11:43Speaker 1: too much of an alarm. They're saying he's dealing with
- 11:45Speaker 1: a sore neck. It's week fourteen. Said he hopes sa
- 11:49Speaker 1: Kwan is going to be out there, but also was
- 11:51Speaker 1: not firm and saying that he's actually going to be
- 11:53Speaker 1: on the field. So this is one monitor here over
- 11:55Speaker 1: the next forty eight hours. Hard to imagine that if
- 11:57Speaker 1: it is indeed just a sore neck for Sae Kwon Barkley,
- 12:00Speaker 1: he's not gonna find a way to be out there
- 12:01Speaker 1: for a massive game coming up this weekend. But again,
- 12:04Speaker 1: keep an eye on that one, am. Yeah. Giants certainly
- 12:06Speaker 1: in the sixth spot right now in the NFC playoff picture,
- 12:09Speaker 1: clinging to that as it seems they've only won once
- 12:12Speaker 1: since October twenty three. Tom and Ian, thank you both
- 12:15Speaker 1: very much. I Meanwhile, you can see the difference in
- 12:17Speaker 1: the running performance in Se Kwon Barkley the first nine
- 12:20Speaker 1: games of the season, very much an m VP candidate.
- 12:24Speaker 1: In the last three games fallen off in a big way,
- 12:27Speaker 1: especially in the rush yards per game a hundred three
- 12:31Speaker 1: more than that the first nine game average and just
- 12:33Speaker 1: forty one yards per game they're the last three. So
- 12:36Speaker 1: certainly the Giants have been looking for answers Judy, how
- 12:40Speaker 1: to improve that running games certainly won't help if Sa
- 12:43Speaker 1: Kwon Barkley is bagged up in that factor. Huh. Right
- 12:46Speaker 1: before Giants fans go into a full blown panic. Brian
- 12:50Speaker 1: Table used the word probably when he was asked if
- 12:53Speaker 1: he expects him to be able to play on Sunday.
- 12:55Speaker 1: So I don't think that this is a full blown
- 12:58Speaker 1: catastrophe we have on our hands here with the Giants,
- 13:01Speaker 1: but certainly something to monitor. And and frankly, uh se
- 13:04Speaker 1: Kwon bar Lee has not been the se Kwon Barkley
- 13:07Speaker 1: that he was early in the season. In the last
- 13:08Speaker 1: three games, he's been under seventy yards rushing for gaming
- 13:12Speaker 1: hasn't had big plays in the passing game either. It
- 13:16Speaker 1: is critical that they get him and the running game
- 13:19Speaker 1: as a whole going. They first of all, they want
- 13:20Speaker 1: to keep that pass rush off Daniel Jones, So I'm
- 13:22Speaker 1: sure they're gonna move Daniel Jones around trying to use
- 13:24Speaker 1: his legs, but they want to get the running game
- 13:27Speaker 1: going because Washington showed how you beat the Philadelphia Eagles,
- 13:32Speaker 1: and one of the ways is just keep Jalen Hurts
- 13:34Speaker 1: off the field. They ran the ball a ton. They
- 13:37Speaker 1: didn't get a ton of yardage, only about a hundred
- 13:39Speaker 1: and fifty yards, but they ran it almost fifty times.
- 13:42Speaker 1: That allowed them to control the clock. That is what
- 13:45Speaker 1: the new York Giants want to do. That's how they've
- 13:47Speaker 1: won this season, and it is really the only way
- 13:50Speaker 1: their offense functions if they can run the ball. Omar, Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 1: there's no quan. Obviously, they'd be asking a lot of
- 13:56Speaker 1: Daniel Jones. They are fifth worst in the league in
- 13:59Speaker 1: passing output this season. The Giants are, and they're facing
- 14:02Speaker 1: an Eagles team that is number one ranked offensively against
- 14:06Speaker 1: the past one of many different ways the Eagles can
- 14:09Speaker 1: beat you, Judy, how might that has helped the season? Well,
- 14:14Speaker 1: I think what makes the Eagles so daunting, other than
- 14:16Speaker 1: the fact that they've got the best record in the NFL,
- 14:19Speaker 1: is they can beat you any which way. Right, two
- 14:21Speaker 1: weeks ago they ran the ball over three hundred yards
- 14:25Speaker 1: and that's how they won. Then last week against the Titans,
- 14:28Speaker 1: they were throwing the ball all over the place. A J.
- 14:31Speaker 1: Brown went off like crazy. So what is so daunting
- 14:34Speaker 1: about them is that Jalen Hurts is having an m
- 14:37Speaker 1: v P caliber season through the air and with his legs.
- 14:41Speaker 1: He is on page he could have ten rushing touchdowns
- 14:44Speaker 1: and a quarterback rating of a hundred if he finishes
- 14:47Speaker 1: the season that way. That's the first time in NFL
- 14:50Speaker 1: history that would have happened for a passer. So what
- 14:53Speaker 1: is so challenging about them is you can't just say, well,
- 14:56Speaker 1: we'll take away the one thing they do well. They
- 14:58Speaker 1: do everything well, and we haven't even touched on the
- 15:01Speaker 1: fact that their defense is fantastic too. This is an
- 15:04Speaker 1: enormous ch allans for the New York Giants, who have
- 15:07Speaker 1: been struggling in the last month and need to get
- 15:09Speaker 1: back on track if they're going to hold onto their
- 15:11Speaker 1: playoff position. But the Eagles are rolling. Yeah, to your point, Judy,
- 15:15Speaker 1: the Eagles were the first team since n to have
- 15:18Speaker 1: back to back games in which they passed for more
- 15:21Speaker 1: than three hundred fifty yards one game and rushed for
- 15:24Speaker 1: more than three hundred fifty yards in another game. So
- 15:27Speaker 1: certainly they can beat you in many, many different ways, Judy,
- 15:30Speaker 1: great points there against the New York Giants. Here on Sunday,
- 15:34Speaker 1: still to come. Here on NFL Now, Mike White and
- 15:37Speaker 1: the New York Jets, getting ready for their showdown against
- 15:40Speaker 1: the Bills, were breaking it down next in NFL Now,
- 15:51Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins and Jared Goffs set to go off against
- 15:54Speaker 1: one another like they did in Week three earlier this
- 15:57Speaker 1: season Cousins and the Vikings coming back from downten in
- 16:00Speaker 1: the fourth quarter to beat Goff and the Lions. Looking
- 16:04Speaker 1: to win their tenth out of their last eleven games.
- 16:07Speaker 1: The Vikings are against the Detroit Lions, and you look
- 16:11Speaker 1: at the NFC playoff picture, the Vikings can clinch the
- 16:14Speaker 1: NFC North simply by beating Detroit on Sunday. Who you
- 16:19Speaker 1: see still in the hunt There just two games out
- 16:22Speaker 1: of the playoff picture, two games behind the Seattle Seahawks.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Much more on this matchup. We welcome in our Tom
- 16:29Speaker 1: Palaceero and Tom, what are you looking forward to ahead
- 16:31Speaker 1: of this one? Well, m are you mentioned it? It's
- 16:35Speaker 1: a lot clearer path for the Vikings to clinch this week.
- 16:38Speaker 1: They need a win or a tie against the Lions,
- 16:41Speaker 1: no other help, and they will be the NFC North
- 16:43Speaker 1: champions for the first time in the Kirk Cousins era,
- 16:46Speaker 1: first time since when case Keenum had his magical run.
- 16:50Speaker 1: Coach Kevin O'Connell last Saturday night before their game against
- 16:54Speaker 1: the Jets had the captain's addressed players and just talk
- 16:57Speaker 1: about what a special group this is, how it's all
- 16:59Speaker 1: come together, and that opportunities like this don't come around
- 17:02Speaker 1: very often, so what they've tried to do is real,
- 17:05Speaker 1: just go week by week here, even with that hugely
- 17:07Speaker 1: in the NFC North, try to wrap it up as
- 17:10Speaker 1: quickly as possible, and they'll have a challenge on Sunday
- 17:12Speaker 1: against the Lions team that's won four o their last five.
- 17:15Speaker 1: The only loss in that stretch was on Thanksgiving to
- 17:18Speaker 1: the Bills, who they took to the wire. This is
- 17:20Speaker 1: probably the most meaningful December game for the Lions in
- 17:23Speaker 1: five years. So a lot of stake for both these teams,
- 17:25Speaker 1: including for Detroit Omar, Yes, a chance to stay in
- 17:29Speaker 1: the NFC playoff picture. Yeah, with five games to play.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Two games behind in the standings is nothing at this point,
- 17:35Speaker 1: so certainly a lot to play for for Detroit. Like
- 17:38Speaker 1: you said, a rare thing in recent years in December,
- 17:40Speaker 1: Tom Pella, sero, thank you very much. Meanwhile, in Buffalo,
- 17:45Speaker 1: it's a rematch of Week nine. Josh Allen his worst
- 17:48Speaker 1: statistical game of the season. There you see the numbers,
- 17:51Speaker 1: they're eighteen of thirty four two hundred five yards, two interceptions.
- 17:55Speaker 1: He was sacked five times in that Week nine loss
- 17:59Speaker 1: against the New York Jets. Here's a look at the
- 18:01Speaker 1: a f C Playoff picture. The Bills, though they've rebounded
- 18:05Speaker 1: by winning three in a row. That was the first
- 18:07Speaker 1: of back to back losses for the Bills, but they've
- 18:09Speaker 1: rebounded in a big way and are now the number
- 18:12Speaker 1: one seed in the a f C Playoff picture nine
- 18:15Speaker 1: and three thanks to the tiebreaker the win they had
- 18:18Speaker 1: over Kansas City earlier in the season. And the Jets
- 18:20Speaker 1: still there at the seventh seed. And when you talk
- 18:23Speaker 1: about the Jets, Judy, they have a different quarterback than
- 18:26Speaker 1: they did the last time they faced the Bills. How
- 18:28Speaker 1: might Mike White make a difference in this matchup? Well,
- 18:31Speaker 1: Mike White has actually faced the Bills for the Jets before.
- 18:34Speaker 1: That was last season and the Bills were his undoing.
- 18:37Speaker 1: He had four interceptions in that game. He talked about
- 18:40Speaker 1: it this week. He said he was playing hero ball.
- 18:43Speaker 1: He since he's learned from it, he's looked back on
- 18:46Speaker 1: that game. He still thinks about that game. He says
- 18:48Speaker 1: he doesn't want it to beat him twice, meaning he
- 18:51Speaker 1: has learned from what he did there. And actually we
- 18:53Speaker 1: saw in the game against the Viking last week, the
- 18:56Speaker 1: Jets fell into a hole early and Mike White did
- 18:58Speaker 1: not try to play hero ball. He just ran the
- 19:01Speaker 1: offense and almost brought the Jets all the way back
- 19:04Speaker 1: against the Vikings, So he has made progress to This
- 19:08Speaker 1: offense that the Jets are running is much more productive,
- 19:11Speaker 1: much more wide open than it was with Zach Wilson.
- 19:15Speaker 1: To Zach Wilson's credit, they beat the Bills with Zach
- 19:18Speaker 1: Wilson as the quarterback and he played well in that game.
- 19:21Speaker 1: But this offense is using the young receivers much more
- 19:24Speaker 1: now with Mike White in there. To be fair, however,
- 19:27Speaker 1: the Bill's defense that they are going to face is
- 19:30Speaker 1: also going to look different than the Bills defense that
- 19:33Speaker 1: Zach Wilson faced. It was only five weeks ago, but
- 19:35Speaker 1: both teams are very different. The Bills defense is much
- 19:39Speaker 1: healthier now. We've spent all week, of course talking about
- 19:41Speaker 1: the loss of Von Miller, and that is a big one.
- 19:44Speaker 1: But many other big names on that defense, Jordan Lawyer,
- 19:48Speaker 1: Met Melano, Tradeabus White, are going to be on the
- 19:51Speaker 1: field this week. They were not when the Jets faced
- 19:54Speaker 1: them previously, when the Jets beat the Bills. So two
- 19:56Speaker 1: very different teams only five weeks apart, and an awful
- 20:00Speaker 1: lot on the line in this game. Yeah, I've been saying,
- 20:02Speaker 1: Judy that it was no coincidence that the Bills had
- 20:04Speaker 1: that little loose in streak while Jordan's player was out.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Since his return, they've won three in a row and
- 20:09Speaker 1: that defense looks much much different to report their Judy Batista,
- 20:13Speaker 1: thank you very much. Meanwhile, Josh Jacobs, he went off.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I don't really play fantasy, but my buddy asked fantasy advice.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I said, ride Josh Jacobs last night, and he delivered
- 20:22Speaker 1: twenty seven carries, nine nine yards and a touchdown. Here
- 20:26Speaker 1: is our fantasy live through. What's much more on the
- 20:29Speaker 1: sleepers ahead of your week four team matchups. It is
- 20:32Speaker 1: week fourteen. This means playoffs are on the line in
- 20:35Speaker 1: plenty of fantasy leagues. We've got injuries, We've got six
- 20:38Speaker 1: teams on a buy. That means sleepers are of paramount importance.
- 20:41Speaker 1: So rank who is somebody we shouldn't be sleeping on
- 20:43Speaker 1: this week? Well, before you run to the Google machine,
- 20:46Speaker 1: I will tell you who this player is. Chick o'conqua. Uh.
- 20:49Speaker 1: He is the tight end of the Tennessee Titans, and
- 20:51Speaker 1: I think that he's got a great matchup this week.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Against the Jacksonville Jaguars, who have allowed a lot of
- 20:56Speaker 1: fantasy points to opposing tight ends this season. And as
- 20:59Speaker 1: a matter of fact, Chick has actually become the leading
- 21:01Speaker 1: receiver for the Tennessee Titans over the past couple of weeks.
- 21:04Speaker 1: So as we're sitting, you're trying to work through this
- 21:06Speaker 1: bye week. Of course, guys like Cole Commet are on
- 21:08Speaker 1: a buy. I think this is a perfect opportunity to
- 21:10Speaker 1: go pick up the Titans leading receiver and get him
- 21:13Speaker 1: into your lineup. Listen, not only you're a man of
- 21:15Speaker 1: great fantasy advice, you're also a man who can say
- 21:17Speaker 1: any name possible. But I picked an easier one, Lavisca Chanel.
- 21:21Speaker 1: He has a great opportunity against the Seattle Seahawks this weekend.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Last week we saw more volume for him, and I
- 21:27Speaker 1: think it's going to be a game where they were
- 21:28Speaker 1: playing from behind, meaning more passing for Chanel, who's very
- 21:31Speaker 1: versatile and his yards after the catch are really helpful
- 21:34Speaker 1: for your fantasy team. Not only did I go with
- 21:36Speaker 1: the player with an easy name to say, what were
- 21:37Speaker 1: the one that I think you'll like a lot? Cynthia
- 21:39Speaker 1: Jamison Williams Detroit Lions I know he didn't play a
- 21:43Speaker 1: whole lot last week. He doesn't really bring a safe
- 21:46Speaker 1: floor or anything like that. But the upside of sky
- 21:48Speaker 1: high The Vikings have allowed these second most fantasy points
- 21:51Speaker 1: to receivers. They've allowed these second most production on deep
- 21:54Speaker 1: passes this year, and I think the Lions, whose secondaries
- 21:57Speaker 1: banged up in their own right and maybe chasing points
- 21:59Speaker 1: or need to put up points, I think they'll take
- 22:00Speaker 1: a couple of deep shots with Jamison Williams. I'm very
- 22:03Speaker 1: curious to see how Williams gets integram it into that offense.
- 22:06Speaker 1: We already know that Deonta Foreman has been integrated into
- 22:08Speaker 1: the Carolina Panthers offense. In their last game, even with
- 22:11Speaker 1: a healthy Chuba Hubbard, it was Foreman that led the
- 22:13Speaker 1: team in running back snaps and in carries, and he's
- 22:16Speaker 1: playing in the offense and for the last few weeks
- 22:18Speaker 1: has been the run heaviest outfit in the National Football League.
- 22:21Speaker 1: And yes, everybody remembers the big three hundred yard game
- 22:24Speaker 1: that Josh Jacobs had against the Seahawks, but let's not
- 22:26Speaker 1: overlook the fact that the week before that, Rashad White
- 22:29Speaker 1: had gone for over a hundred yards and then last
- 22:31Speaker 1: week it was Cam Akers rising from the fantasy graves
- 22:34Speaker 1: to score two touchdowns, So former teams like he's in
- 22:36Speaker 1: a great opportunity to put up some good points for
- 22:39Speaker 1: for fantasy managers who really needs some help at the
- 22:41Speaker 1: running back position. One thing you should not sleep on
- 22:44Speaker 1: is watching us here on NFL Fantasy Live each and
- 22:46Speaker 1: every weekday on NFL Network. Do right now into NFL Network.
- 22:58Speaker 1: Baltimore Ravens star quarterback Lamar Jackson has officially been listed
- 23:02Speaker 1: as doubtful to play against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday.
- 23:07Speaker 1: The Big A f C North showdown between these two
- 23:10Speaker 1: rivals will not likely feature Lamar Jackson, so in fact,
- 23:14Speaker 1: Snoop Huntley is in line to start again. Lamar Jackson
- 23:18Speaker 1: listed as doubtful with that spring knee ahead of the
- 23:21Speaker 1: Ravens showdown with the Steelers. Speaking of showdowns, Sunday Night
- 23:25Speaker 1: showdown features to a tongue of Violoa and Justin Herbert.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Of course, these two quarterbacks linked together forever because of
- 23:33Speaker 1: where they were picked in the NFL draft. To Ah
- 23:36Speaker 1: was picked five, one spot ahead of Herbert at number six.
- 23:40Speaker 1: This is the second time these two have met one another.
- 23:42Speaker 1: They did so as rookies in two. I got that one,
- 23:45Speaker 1: and here is a look at these two in prime
- 23:48Speaker 1: time to a tongue of Ioloa three and one all time,
- 23:51Speaker 1: while Justin Herbert is four and six. For much more
- 23:54Speaker 1: on this matchup, we welcome in our Pro Football Focus
- 23:58Speaker 1: discussion with Trevor Sikoma and Trevor when we look at
- 24:01Speaker 1: these two quarterbacks, a lot to like. Certainly NBC liked
- 24:05Speaker 1: this matchup. They flex that one into Sunday Night Football.
- 24:08Speaker 1: What have you seen from both of these quarterbacks here
- 24:10Speaker 1: in their third year, oh two up becoming quarterbacks? You know,
- 24:13Speaker 1: he had it reflected in this Sunday Night But there's
- 24:15Speaker 1: a lot to look forward to in this game with
- 24:17Speaker 1: these two going up against each other. But honestly, when
- 24:19Speaker 1: I look at this between these two really talented quarterbacks,
- 24:22Speaker 1: the difference seems to be in their situations. You know,
- 24:24Speaker 1: two is having a phenomenal year, and I don't mean
- 24:26Speaker 1: this to take anything away from him whatsoever, but he's
- 24:29Speaker 1: dealing with a fantastic wide receiver corps that's separating very
- 24:32Speaker 1: well for them. They've got three wide receivers or three
- 24:35Speaker 1: passing weapons, I should say that are all averaging more
- 24:37Speaker 1: than three yards of separation. Mike vic Daniel as scheme
- 24:40Speaker 1: and things up like a genius for them on offense,
- 24:42Speaker 1: and they're reaping the rewards on the other side of
- 24:44Speaker 1: the ball. Just In Herbert feels like he's a man alone.
- 24:47Speaker 1: It just doesn't feel like he has any wide receiver
- 24:49Speaker 1: that can consistently separate for him. Joe Lombardi doesn't seem
- 24:52Speaker 1: to be designing things to get multiple guys open in
- 24:55Speaker 1: play designs, and that seems to be really hurting them
- 24:58Speaker 1: if the defense really takes away that primary option. Plus,
- 25:01Speaker 1: we've seen Herbert's average step to target as one of
- 25:03Speaker 1: the lowest in the NFL, which is crazy for a
- 25:06Speaker 1: guy who has it much arm strength as Justin Herbert does.
- 25:09Speaker 1: I hope we get the best of both roles between
- 25:11Speaker 1: these two guys, because they have the talent to really
- 25:14Speaker 1: put on a show, really give us some fireworks here.
- 25:16Speaker 1: We've seen that in the PF numbers, but to have
- 25:18Speaker 1: an unbelievable numbers there, but unfortunately it's just a difference
- 25:21Speaker 1: of scenarios that what we're seeing at the results between
- 25:23Speaker 1: these two quarterbacks. It's a fascinating matchup, not only because
- 25:26Speaker 1: of the comparisons between each other and the draft status
- 25:29Speaker 1: and all that, but to a coming in with a
- 25:31Speaker 1: pressure to rebound after that bad game against San Francisco,
- 25:34Speaker 1: and Justin Herbert the pressure on him to keep the
- 25:36Speaker 1: Chargers in that playoff race. So certainly something to keep
- 25:39Speaker 1: an eye on there. Meanwhile, on Monday night, we saw
- 25:42Speaker 1: Tom Brady do what Baker Mayfield did last night, lead
- 25:45Speaker 1: his team down with two touchdowns in the last four minutes.
- 25:48Speaker 1: They're down sixteen to three, they pull it out seventeen
- 25:51Speaker 1: to sixteen. What did we learn about that Buccaneers offense
- 25:54Speaker 1: that we might see on Sunday against his hometown team,
- 25:57Speaker 1: the San Francisco forty Niners. You say Tom Brady pull
- 26:00Speaker 1: the Baker maybe said that before, But look, it was
- 26:04Speaker 1: an exciting fin certainly with how Tampa was able to
- 26:06Speaker 1: win that Monday night football game. But the overarching feeling
- 26:11Speaker 1: is it doesn't have to be that way. It just
- 26:13Speaker 1: doesn't have to be that way with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
- 26:15Speaker 1: They are talented enough, even amongst their injuries, to really
- 26:19Speaker 1: be able to be the team that they should have
- 26:20Speaker 1: been able to handle decently easily with the New Orleans Saints,
- 26:23Speaker 1: I think the two areas that you recognize on offense
- 26:25Speaker 1: specifically because that was where the drought was coming up
- 26:28Speaker 1: tempo plays and play action. This is one of the
- 26:31Speaker 1: best play action teams in the NFL. They are top
- 26:33Speaker 1: five and e p a per play when it comes
- 26:35Speaker 1: to play action, and yet they are bottom five in
- 26:37Speaker 1: the NFL in total play action attempts. It's something that
- 26:41Speaker 1: a lot of fans have been clamoring for them to
- 26:43Speaker 1: use a lot more than it becomes to up tempo.
- 26:45Speaker 1: You saw what Tom Brady was able to do when
- 26:47Speaker 1: he has up tempo. Mike Evans has said himself, it's
- 26:49Speaker 1: like this guy takes greatness to another level when he
- 26:53Speaker 1: gets in those two minute drill moments. Number one team
- 26:55Speaker 1: in the NFL in e p a per play when
- 26:57Speaker 1: they are running tempo. So Byron Left, which share offensive coordinator,
- 27:00Speaker 1: said that they would hopefully be able to do a
- 27:01Speaker 1: little bit more of that. But those are the two
- 27:03Speaker 1: areas that I look for for the Bucks to hopefully
- 27:05Speaker 1: get some wins down the stretch and not half to
- 27:07Speaker 1: stress their fans out too much. Yeah, the forty Niners defense,
- 27:11Speaker 1: led by Damiko Ryan, certainly will be ready for Tom
- 27:13Speaker 1: Brady and eager to show that they can carry the
- 27:15Speaker 1: team without Jimmy Garoppolo. Of course, the rookie Brock Pritty
- 27:19Speaker 1: will get the start for San Francisco. Meanwhile, the Buffalo
- 27:21Speaker 1: Bills have won three in a row, and we've documented
- 27:24Speaker 1: how they were all in adverse situations. That was, of course,
- 27:27Speaker 1: coming off a little two game losing streak. Has they
- 27:31Speaker 1: have they gotten back to the spot where you think
- 27:33Speaker 1: they're the best team in the NFL right now, Trevor, Oh,
- 27:36Speaker 1: you're trying to get Bills mafia, Madam here omar, but look,
- 27:39Speaker 1: look they are in that top tier right there, in
- 27:41Speaker 1: that number one tier. I would still lean to the
- 27:44Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs would be my favorite. So far. We
- 27:46Speaker 1: have them as the number one right now highest percentage
- 27:49Speaker 1: to win the Super Bowl at PFF dot COM's simulation.
- 27:52Speaker 1: So I still got to think it's the Chiefs. And
- 27:54Speaker 1: the reason I say that's because of the schedule itself.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Chiefs had the third easiest schedules movie forward. Meanwhile the
- 27:59Speaker 1: the Buffalo Bills they the nineteen toughest schedule, so it's
- 28:02Speaker 1: decently easy. But I really do think it's gonna all
- 28:04Speaker 1: come down to that Bengals game near the end of
- 28:06Speaker 1: the year. The biggest question mark though, it's von Miller.
- 28:09Speaker 1: Von Miller had twenty two more pressures than the second
- 28:13Speaker 1: best guy on the Bill's defense. That's been a big
- 28:15Speaker 1: catalyst for why that team has been so successful all year.
- 28:19Speaker 1: What does it look like without von Miller? Is that
- 28:21Speaker 1: enough to really still edge out some really good teams
- 28:24Speaker 1: in the a f C. That's, of course, what everybody's
- 28:26Speaker 1: going to be looking forward to when it comes to
- 28:27Speaker 1: whether or not the Buffalo Bills can get that one
- 28:29Speaker 1: seed and ultimately get to the super Bowl. Yeah, Trevor,
- 28:31Speaker 1: we were both just talking in the commercial about how
- 28:34Speaker 1: epic these games down the stretch are going to be
- 28:36Speaker 1: throughout the NFL. Of course, we saw Josh Allen, Patrick
- 28:40Speaker 1: Mahomes earlier this season, and don't forget later in the
- 28:42Speaker 1: year on Monday Night Football, we're gonna see Josh Allen
- 28:45Speaker 1: versus Joe Burrow another potential playoff preview there. Trevor Sikama
