- 0:07Speaker 2: Launch five four three two one it's.
- 0:14Speaker 3: Chris x.
- 0:17Speaker 4: Radio chris x radio.
- 0:20Speaker 5: What we need.
- 0:21Speaker 6: Right now is a clear message to the people of
- 0:24Speaker 6: this country.
- 0:25Speaker 7: This message must.
- 0:26Speaker 6: Be read in every newspaper, heard on every radio, seen
- 0:29Speaker 6: on every television.
- 0:30Speaker 2: This message must resound throughout the entire intelligence.
- 0:34Speaker 8: And now, your host.
- 0:35Speaker 4: I believe this is going to be our finest hour.
- 0:37Speaker 8: Chris X.
- 0:58Speaker 9: It's weird looking at the city of Houston, seeing people
- 1:02Speaker 9: being arrested.
- 1:02Speaker 10: For crimes that shouldn't be out on the street. That
- 1:05Speaker 10: kind of goes on and on, hand in hand. With
- 1:08Speaker 10: Democrats when they run your cities and counties. Good afternoon.
- 1:11Speaker 10: Welcome to Chris X Radio. I am the aforementioned X-Man.
- 1:15Speaker 9: Glad to have you here with us as we are
- 1:17Speaker 9: rocking and rolling here for the next two hours. Of course,
- 1:21Speaker 9: we have assumed control of the broadcast and we intend
- 1:24Speaker 9: to maintain control of this broadcast for the next two
- 1:27Speaker 9: hours as we bring you that gift beyond price that
- 1:31Speaker 9: is almost free. Ladies and gentlemen, we bring you the
- 1:34Speaker 9: spirit of talk radio. Boy, do we got a lot
- 1:35Speaker 9: to get into today here on the program. Glad to
- 1:38Speaker 9: have you with us. I am the aforementioned X-Man. We'll
- 1:41Speaker 9: be joined by Holly Hansen at the bottom of the hour.
- 1:45Speaker 9: She'll join us to give us an update from Commissioner's
- 1:48Speaker 9: Court in Harris County.
- 1:52Speaker 10: They're voting on raising your taxes again. Again. It's so funny.
- 1:56Speaker 9: I love how people somehow think somehow Democrats are a
- 1:59Speaker 9: better choice. But every time Democrats are in control, they
- 2:03Speaker 9: never stop raising your taxes. And generally it's the maximum
- 2:07Speaker 9: amount they can possibly raise it. And generally they don't
- 2:11Speaker 9: want you to have any say in it either. They
- 2:14Speaker 9: want to be in control of it. Anyway, Commissioner's Court
- 2:19Speaker 9: is meeting today. Holly Hansen usually stays on top of it,
- 2:22Speaker 9: so she'll join us here.
- 2:23Speaker 10: At the bottom of the hour.
- 2:24Speaker 9: Always enjoy the Texan news and what they cover because, well,
- 2:28Speaker 9: they tend to cover things not necessarily from the angle
- 2:33Speaker 9: that you get from the lamestream media, the rest of them.
- 2:36Speaker 10: And it is actually Tuesday. It feels like a Monday. Man,
- 2:41Speaker 10: yesterday was a holiday. Kind of. At least I took
- 2:45Speaker 10: the day off.
- 2:46Speaker 9: From what I heard, so did everybody else. Well, not everybody.
- 2:50Speaker 9: Most of the live talk shows were not live yesterday. Lucas,
- 2:56Speaker 9: did you get the day off or did you have
- 2:58Speaker 9: to work yesterday?
- 2:58Speaker 11: I was here all day.
- 3:00Speaker 9: Hey, look at that. That poor guy had to work.
- 3:03Speaker 9: He's working. I'm glad somebody was working because the rest
- 3:07Speaker 9: of us weren't. Did anybody do anything fun? I really
- 3:09Speaker 9: didn't do much. I just sort of kind of took
- 3:12Speaker 9: it easy, enjoyed the day off, which is something... I
- 3:15Speaker 9: don't sometimes don't get a whole lot of those. A
- 3:18Speaker 9: lot of times I'll wait. You know, sometimes on the.
- 3:20Speaker 10: Holidays, we'll take separate days and work them.
- 3:22Speaker 9: I don't even know how many holidays we've got saved
- 3:26Speaker 9: up because you guys know me. I always tend to
- 3:28Speaker 9: work through up until Thanksgiving. I tend to take Thanksgiving off.
- 3:33Speaker 9: Sometimes I'll take the Wednesday before because that's when we
- 3:35Speaker 9: tend to eat and I don't know when the tradition started,
- 3:40Speaker 9: but it started as a, I remember it being a
- 3:43Speaker 9: small kid. We would have Thanksgiving dinner on Wednesday night
- 3:47Speaker 9: instead of on Thursday. And then as we got a
- 3:51Speaker 9: little older, that transformed because people with their spouses and
- 3:57Speaker 9: other families, they would go and spend time on Thanksgiving day.
- 4:00Speaker 9: So us having it on Wednesday night always worked out.
- 4:04Speaker 9: And then of course, when dad would take us deer hunting,
- 4:06Speaker 9: we'd go to the deer lease and That way we
- 4:09Speaker 9: could be— nobody was there on Thanksgiving. Very seldom were anybody
- 4:13Speaker 9: else there. So he could take us, you know, stupid kids,
- 4:16Speaker 9: and we could go run around the ranch and act
- 4:17Speaker 9: a fool because nobody else was there. So he didn't
- 4:21Speaker 9: have to worry about us, you know, getting in anybody
- 4:23Speaker 9: else's way. So he would take us up there on
- 4:25Speaker 9: Thanksgiving Day, and that weekend we'd stay up there.
- 4:28Speaker 10: Man, I look back.
- 4:30Speaker 9: We'd go up there on Wednesday nights sometimes. I remember
- 4:33Speaker 9: getting there at like 2 or 3 o'clock in the morning.
- 4:38Speaker 9: And getting up there, going to sleep, then getting up
- 4:40Speaker 9: at 5 a.m.
- 4:41Speaker 10: Or 6 a.m.
- 4:41Speaker 9: To be out and hunting before dawn and it being
- 4:46Speaker 9: so cold. But we loved it. Absolutely loved it. And
- 4:51Speaker 9: that's why I still go up there, even though I
- 4:53Speaker 9: don't hunt deer anymore. I still like to go up
- 4:55Speaker 9: there and I'll shoot the hogs. The hogs have had
- 4:59Speaker 9: a good summer up there this year. So I'm looking
- 5:02Speaker 9: forward to the temperatures to cool down to get back
- 5:03Speaker 9: up there and go do a little hog hunting.
- 5:06Speaker 10: By the way, I didn't.
- 5:06Speaker 9: Follow up with the, what was it? Hold on. I
- 5:12Speaker 9: got to look at it. Make sure I say it
- 5:13Speaker 9: right here. With way more silencers. I saw that it
- 5:18Speaker 9: looks like my noise suppressor has shipped. Remember, it was
- 5:22Speaker 9: on back order. So my noise suppressor has shipped. I
- 5:25Speaker 9: don't know how long that takes for them to get it.
- 5:28Speaker 9: Probably a day or two. So I'll follow up with
- 5:30Speaker 9: them tomorrow. And then I'll take my gun over there
- 5:34Speaker 9: and they'll install it for me, which they say I
- 5:37Speaker 9: could do it myself, but you guys have heard my
- 5:39Speaker 9: statement on that. I don't play around with my guns
- 5:42Speaker 9: when it comes to messing with them.
- 5:45Speaker 4: No, no, no, no, no.
- 5:46Speaker 10: Don't want to do that.
- 5:48Speaker 9: That just is a recipe for disaster, okay?
- 5:51Speaker 10: That could be a total disaster. Ain't nobody got time
- 5:55Speaker 10: for the total disaster, all right? You don't want to
- 5:57Speaker 10: do that.
- 5:58Speaker 9: So I want to make sure that I'm doing things properly. So, uh, uh, but, uh,
- 6:05Speaker 9: I'll go and have them mounted and then boom.
- 6:07Speaker 10: Now I've got a quieter rifle. It still makes noise.
- 6:11Speaker 9: It's just not as loud. It cuts the volume down
- 6:13Speaker 9: about a half. So we'll see how that works out.
- 6:16Speaker 10: Also, it was so weird.
- 6:17Speaker 9: I didn't know how this was going to play out
- 6:19Speaker 9: because I went and purchased my, you know, silencer, which
- 6:22Speaker 9: is not a silencer. It's just a noise suppressor. It
- 6:26Speaker 9: cuts it from 200 decibels to about 110.
- 6:28Speaker 12: Okay.
- 6:28Speaker 10: 110 is still pretty loud.
- 6:31Speaker 9: Anyway, but I purchased it right before, and I mean
- 6:36Speaker 9: right before, what?
- 6:39Speaker 10: The law, I guess, expired?
- 6:41Speaker 9: I mean, literally, the week before, the law expired, so
- 6:45Speaker 9: you don't have to get fingerprinted and all that stuff,
- 6:48Speaker 9: so I don't even know if the government is doing
- 6:50Speaker 9: that anymore. I had called, was it last week or
- 6:52Speaker 9: the week before, and they said, yeah, when we get it,
- 6:55Speaker 9: we'll just do the transfer and.
- 6:57Speaker 10: I mean, since I've already done it.
- 6:59Speaker 9: If they go through that, but like I said, that
- 7:01Speaker 9: would be, I guess, with a different administration or if
- 7:04Speaker 9: the Democrats take over, of course, they're going to go
- 7:06Speaker 9: and try to once again tax the suppressors. So they'll
- 7:10Speaker 9: probably throw that $ 200 tax tag back on, just like
- 7:14Speaker 9: the Harris County commissioners are going to jack you for
- 7:16Speaker 9: at least another two, three hundred bucks on your mortgage
- 7:20Speaker 9: each year just for the privilege of living in Harris
- 7:23Speaker 9: County because they can't control their spending.
- 7:26Speaker 10: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 9: So we'll talk with Holly Hanson about that at the
- 7:29Speaker 9: bottom of the hour. So needless to say, I'm kind
- 7:32Speaker 9: of excited to get that and to go try it out.
- 7:34Speaker 9: I mean, I could go shoot it at the range,
- 7:36Speaker 9: but no, this would be a good reason to go
- 7:38Speaker 9: back up to the ranch and go off and, and,
- 7:42Speaker 9: you know, do a little, maybe some target practice, but
- 7:44Speaker 9: also do a little hogging. I like to do the
- 7:48Speaker 9: hogging up there. Yeah, them hogs, boy, they had a
- 7:54Speaker 9: good summer.
- 7:55Speaker 10: It was funny.
- 7:55Speaker 9: It rained a lot, actually, in July up there. So anyway, okay,
- 7:59Speaker 9: so we got that going on. All right, so I
- 8:00Speaker 9: hope you guys enjoyed your Labor Day. Did anybody do
- 8:03Speaker 9: anything fun? I know gas prices are still pretty high,
- 8:07Speaker 9: so that's kind of hurting people.
- 8:11Speaker 10: 281-558-KSCB. Oh, by the way, this is sad news. Nobody
- 8:17Speaker 10: died this time, fortunately. Art Garfunkel.
- 8:23Speaker 9: Fame from Simon and Garfunkel, is considering leaving the U.S.
- 8:27Speaker 10: Over Donald Trump. What a loss that would be.
- 8:31Speaker 9: I mean, he hasn't had a hit in at least, what,
- 8:36Speaker 9: the last four decades plus? Irrelevant much? Guess he wanted
- 8:41Speaker 9: to be irrelevant again. Lukasz, do you even know who
- 8:45Speaker 9: Simon and Garfunkel even is?
- 8:48Speaker 8: Oh, yes, sir, I do.
- 8:49Speaker 10: Okay, man, you're You're an oddball for a, I think
- 8:52Speaker 10: you're a Gen Z-er. I don't know. Millennial. Thank you.
- 8:55Speaker 13: Elder.
- 8:56Speaker 10: Oh, you're an elder millennial. Sorry.
- 9:00Speaker 11: I just learned that the other day.
- 9:02Speaker 10: Okay. He acts more like a Gen Xer. He's more
- 9:04Speaker 10: like one of us. So he is that. But okay.
- 9:09Speaker 9: So are you extremely upset that our Garfunkel may leave
- 9:13Speaker 9: the U.S.
- 9:14Speaker 10: Over Donald Trump?
- 9:15Speaker 6: Who?
- 9:17Speaker 8: No, I'm kidding.
- 9:19Speaker 10: Go for it, dude.
- 9:20Speaker 14: Hey, there you go.
- 9:21Speaker 10: Maybe he can go bunk with Rosie in Ireland. Dear Lord, whatever.
- 9:27Speaker 10: She's already trying to come back. She's like, I moved away.
- 9:30Speaker 10: I want to come back.
- 9:31Speaker 9: Maybe it's not quite as bad as I lied to
- 9:33Speaker 9: everybody and made everybody try to think it is.
- 9:36Speaker 10: That's so funny.
- 9:37Speaker 9: Oh, by the way, I have a couple of guests
- 9:39Speaker 9: lined up tomorrow. Once again, I have Holly Hansen coming
- 9:42Speaker 9: on at 430 today, but I have a couple of
- 9:44Speaker 9: guests lined up tomorrow. Tomorrow, the Republicans are gearing up
- 9:47Speaker 9: today for the midterm convention in Dallas, which kicks off tomorrow,
- 9:52Speaker 9: September 9th, September 10th. Live from the GOP convention in Dallas.
- 10:00Speaker 15: Worth.
- 10:00Speaker 10: I'll have Matt Locke. He'll join us.
- 10:02Speaker 9: He's going to be there broadcasting his show and doing
- 10:04Speaker 9: continuing coverage throughout the entire day for WBAP. So he'll
- 10:09Speaker 9: be up there. So we'll talk to him at the
- 10:11Speaker 9: top of the hour tomorrow. And then I mentioned to
- 10:13Speaker 9: you guys before that I have a buddy of mine.
- 10:18Speaker 10: Well, I can't even really say a buddy. He's a
- 10:19Speaker 10: guy I've known. We're kids. We grew up together.
- 10:23Speaker 9: And he tends to be on the other side of
- 10:24Speaker 9: the political aisle. He digs the universe. Well, he commented
- 10:27Speaker 9: on my show video and did a video himself and
- 10:31Speaker 9: mentioned he was always very complimentary, even though I know
- 10:33Speaker 9: he doesn't.
- 10:34Speaker 10: Dig our stuff. And his name's Ron.
- 10:37Speaker 9: So I'll catch up with Ron tomorrow at the bottom
- 10:38Speaker 9: of the hour at 430. And we'll do just a recap.
- 10:41Speaker 9: I mean, this is a guy I went to elementary
- 10:43Speaker 9: school with, played T-ball, wasn't.
- 10:46Speaker 10: T-ball, never played T-ball, played Little League with.
- 10:49Speaker 9: And then if I do remember, I think I went
- 10:51Speaker 9: off to a different I went off to Creekwood Middle
- 10:54Speaker 9: School where he stayed at Kingwood Middle School.
- 10:56Speaker 10: And then we were back in high school together.
- 10:58Speaker 9: And if I remember correctly, he was a Republican when
- 11:03Speaker 9: he was in school or he.
- 11:04Speaker 10: Leaned that direction. I don't know.
- 11:06Speaker 9: But anyway, but he'll join us at the bottom of
- 11:08Speaker 9: the hour tomorrow, which is it'll be interesting one for him.
- 11:12Speaker 9: He believes in something that I believe in freedom of speech.
- 11:15Speaker 9: And if you've ever listened to this program, you too
- 11:18Speaker 9: understand this is something that I think is very important,
- 11:21Speaker 9: not only for us, but him too. Even though he's
- 11:25Speaker 9: got a difference of opinion. He should have the freedom
- 11:27Speaker 9: to express it. And he he's one on the other
- 11:29Speaker 9: side that believes that. So he actually believes in a
- 11:32Speaker 9: civil discourse.
- 11:33Speaker 10: So it'll be fun.
- 11:33Speaker 9: We're not really going to talk a whole lot politics,
- 11:36Speaker 9: but we will be talking about, like I said, how
- 11:39Speaker 9: it's amazing. Two kids from the same area at the
- 11:41Speaker 9: exact same time and how we are so politically very different.
- 11:45Speaker 9: But once again, doesn't make us enemies. Makes us kids
- 11:49Speaker 9: who grew up together. It's a throwback to the old
- 11:52Speaker 9: world where you didn't hate people for their political views.
- 11:55Speaker 9: You didn't want to kill them for their political views.
- 11:59Speaker 9: So it'll be an interesting juxtaposition on tomorrow's program with
- 12:02Speaker 9: Matt Locke joining us from the GOP convention in Dallas.
- 12:06Speaker 9: And then, of course, Ron Reeder joining us at the
- 12:08Speaker 9: bottom of the hour. I'm looking forward to talking to Ron.
- 12:10Speaker 9: I haven't talked to him in probably 50 years, 45 years,
- 12:13Speaker 9: somewhere around there.
- 12:14Speaker 10: I don't know. So we got that.
- 12:17Speaker 9: A couple other things we'll get to today. Actually, there's
- 12:19Speaker 9: a lot to get to on the program today. MAGA Incorporated,
- 12:22Speaker 9: the main pro-Trump super PAC, has made a $ 10 million.
- 12:26Speaker 10: Ad buy in the Texas Senate race.
- 12:30Speaker 9: So that buy goes towards television streaming, digital advertising, and
- 12:34Speaker 9: its first expenditure for MAGA Inc. in the general election
- 12:37Speaker 9: is which shows the importance of the Texas center race
- 12:40Speaker 9: between Paxton and Tallarico.
- 12:42Speaker 10: We'll get into that.
- 12:43Speaker 9: Did anybody watch the clip of last night's attempted virtual
- 12:47Speaker 9: debate for the Harris County judge race? Letitia Plummer came on,
- 12:53Speaker 9: did her opening statement. And then when Orlando Sanchez had
- 12:56Speaker 9: his turn, you heard some alarm kind of go off.
- 13:00Speaker 9: And then as Orlando was talking, she was like, I
- 13:03Speaker 9: can't hear you. And then the host of the moderator
- 13:06Speaker 9: of the debate said, can you hear me? And she said,
- 13:07Speaker 9: I can hear you, but I can't hear Orlando. And
- 13:10Speaker 9: then she dropped the video. Letitia Plummer dropped the video
- 13:14Speaker 9: and then went away and never came back. And then
- 13:17Speaker 9: went on, I guess, to tell everybody that Orlando was
- 13:20Speaker 9: so scared to debate her that he quit.
- 13:23Speaker 10: Before it even started. Well, Orlando brought the receipts. He
- 13:27Speaker 10: didn't quit. He was the only one still there.
- 13:29Speaker 9: She clearly, either one, they were having technical issues and
- 13:34Speaker 9: couldn't figure it out, or two, didn't want to debate.
- 13:37Speaker 9: But the fact that she's lying about what occurred tells
- 13:40Speaker 9: you a lot. So we can dig into that. Burning
- 13:43Speaker 9: Man Festival in Nevada's Black Rock Desert came to a
- 13:48Speaker 9: tragic close this year with the deaths of two people
- 13:51Speaker 9: in separate incidents, apparently like a couple of people die
- 13:54Speaker 9: every year at Burning Man.
- 13:59Speaker 4: What?
- 14:01Speaker 9: Like 60,000 people attend this event? Hey, could somebody remind
- 14:05Speaker 9: me not to ever go to anything remotely resembling Burning Man?
- 14:09Speaker 9: I don't want to go to some modern drugged out
- 14:12Speaker 9: hippies playing in the mud in a Nevada desert. I
- 14:19Speaker 9: think I would die just being exposed to the smells
- 14:22Speaker 9: of a bunch of hippies who don't know how to bathe.
- 14:24Speaker 9: The head of the Smithsonian Institute announced his retirement today,
- 14:28Speaker 9: stepping down amid an escalating clash with the Trump administration
- 14:33Speaker 9: over leadership and the direction of the nation's museums.
- 14:36Speaker 10: We can get into that.
- 14:37Speaker 9: And also, finally, this is something we talked about in
- 14:41Speaker 9: the past. Congress is finally set to vote to protect
- 14:45Speaker 9: AM radio and also, in kind, American discourse. A bipartisan
- 14:51Speaker 9: bill is set for a vote in Congress this week
- 14:53Speaker 9: that every new car sold in America will have an
- 14:56Speaker 9: AM antenna to pick up its signal. The AM radio
- 14:59Speaker 9: for every vehicle act has more than 300 co-sponsors in
- 15:02Speaker 9: the House, 60 in the Senate, and has been pitched
- 15:05Speaker 9: mainly as a measure to ensure the emergency messages, the
- 15:08Speaker 9: ones that will start with that whistle and... It can
- 15:12Speaker 9: be sent out through cars on the AM stations. When
- 15:14Speaker 9: a lot of these big emergencies hit, like when hurricanes
- 15:18Speaker 9: or these flash floods or even 9-11, the phone systems
- 15:23Speaker 9: go down. The internet goes down. If you lose your
- 15:30Speaker 9: phone and internet and 5G service, what do you have left? Well,
- 15:34Speaker 9: AM radio does not. It stays up. And that's one
- 15:37Speaker 9: of the biggest ways to keep it. And then in
- 15:40Speaker 9: the article, it actually goes through and shows how these
- 15:42Speaker 9: AM stations like KSCB radio can stay on and get
- 15:46Speaker 9: the information out. And this is really needed, especially when
- 15:50Speaker 9: you get off in places, like I said, like the
- 15:52Speaker 9: hill country, where you're these ranches and you're a little
- 15:54Speaker 9: ways off from the cities, you don't get much of
- 15:56Speaker 9: a phone signal there. The one thing you do get
- 15:59Speaker 9: is AM radio. The FM radio doesn't reach very well,
- 16:03Speaker 9: but you can get the AM radio.
- 16:05Speaker 10: All right, let's take a short break. We'll come back.
- 16:07Speaker 9: We'll dig into a couple of things, and then we'll,
- 16:09Speaker 9: like I said, and then we'll catch up with our guest,
- 16:11Speaker 9: Holly Hanson, and see if Harris County commissioners have voted
- 16:15Speaker 9: to jack your taxes again. By the way, I saw
- 16:19Speaker 9: Montgomery County voted like a 2.3 tax increase.
- 16:22Speaker 10: Hey, thanks, Republicans in Montgomery County.
- 16:27Speaker 14: Um.
- 16:29Speaker 10: The Harris County one is going to be a lot
- 16:30Speaker 10: bigger than that. Spoiler alert. Once again, these dirtbags just can't.
- 16:36Speaker 9: The one lone Republican, Tom Ramsey, I reached out to
- 16:39Speaker 9: get him on, forgetting they were meeting today. So I'll
- 16:41Speaker 9: get Tom Ramsey on here in the near future and
- 16:44Speaker 9: talk about, you know, once again, he's by himself. City
- 16:49Speaker 9: of Houston, Harris County decided we're going to go with
- 16:51Speaker 9: the progressive leftists and they just can't get enough of
- 16:54Speaker 9: your tax dollars and we'll keep raising it at every opportunity.
- 16:57Speaker 10: You're listening to Chris X Radio. Don't you go anywhere.

- 19:11Speaker 17: Garage doors, no one knows more than the doctor.
- 19:14Speaker 3: Garage door doctor.
- 19:18Speaker 8: We got a call late New Year's Eve.
- 19:20Speaker 6: A father with big plans for his family the next
- 19:22Speaker 6: day said his garage door spring just snapped. He couldn't
- 19:24Speaker 6: get his car out and wouldn't be able to get
- 19:26Speaker 6: his family to where they needed to go.
- 19:28Speaker 10: He felt stuck and alone.
- 19:30Speaker 6: So we showed up fast with the right spring and
- 19:32Speaker 6: the right parts to fix it right. We didn't talk
- 19:34Speaker 6: about the price. We didn't wait till the morning. We
- 19:36Speaker 6: fixed it right then. Because at Garage Door Doctor, it's
- 19:40Speaker 6: never just about the job. It's about the person behind it.
- 19:43Speaker 6: The dad, the veteran, the grandpa, the neighbor. Hi, I'm

- 20:05Speaker 3: Than the doctor. Garage Door Doctor.
- 20:10Speaker 8: Fake news hates us. Fake news hates us. Chris X Radio.
- 20:15Speaker 8: Chris X Radio.
- 20:34Speaker 10: Welcome back to Chris X Radio. I'm the aforementioned X-Man.
- 20:36Speaker 9: Glad to have you here with us as we are
- 20:39Speaker 9: rock and rolling your Tuesday edition of the program.
- 20:42Speaker 10: It's actually Tuesday. Yesterday was Labor Day.
- 20:44Speaker 9: A lot of people were off. So I was like, man,
- 20:46Speaker 9: today feels like a Monday.
- 20:48Speaker 10: It kind of does.
- 20:50Speaker 9: Man, hump day is already coming up tomorrow. And then
- 20:51Speaker 9: we'll be doing our Friday show on Thursday. It seems
- 20:54Speaker 9: like the week's already done and we haven't even gotten started. Anyway,
- 20:58Speaker 9: I hope everybody enjoyed their Labor Day holiday. Did anybody
- 21:02Speaker 9: do anything fun? We can talk about that later. Art
- 21:05Speaker 9: Garfunkel is considering leaving the U.S.
- 21:06Speaker 10: Over Trump.
- 21:07Speaker 9: What kills me about these people, I love the fact
- 21:10Speaker 9: that they think that somehow is going to have an
- 21:12Speaker 9: effect on people. Oh, hippies from the 60s will all
- 21:16Speaker 9: be upset that Art Garfunkel is no longer not making
- 21:19Speaker 9: music in America anymore. Lukasz, can you sit at one
- 21:26Speaker 9: of your homing pigeons and find out when the last
- 21:28Speaker 9: time Art Garfunkel left?
- 21:30Speaker 10: Made any music or did anything.
- 21:32Speaker 8: I'm on it.
- 21:33Speaker 10: All right.
- 21:34Speaker 9: Cause the last thing I can think of is Simon
- 21:35Speaker 9: and Garfunkel. He really didn't have a big solo career.
- 21:39Speaker 10: So there's that. All right. Coming up in the next segment,
- 21:41Speaker 10: we'll catch up with Holly Hanson. She's a reporter with
- 21:44Speaker 10: the Texan news. She joins us. We'll be talking.
- 21:48Speaker 9: She's been monitoring the Harris County Commissioner's Court meeting today.
- 21:51Speaker 9: She'll give us an update whether they voted to raise
- 21:53Speaker 9: our taxes yet, because they will.
- 21:55Speaker 10: Also, we'll talk.
- 21:55Speaker 9: She's got a few articles, one regarding the flock cameras
- 21:58Speaker 9: and the Woodlands $ 50 million buyout from the Houston annexation attempt.
- 22:05Speaker 9: So we can talk about that. And then also there's
- 22:07Speaker 9: pay parity. So we'll talk with her about that stuff
- 22:11Speaker 9: coming up. Always good to catch up with Holly Hansen
- 22:13Speaker 9: because she does a great job. And then once again tomorrow,
- 22:16Speaker 9: Matt Locke will join us here live at the top
- 22:18Speaker 9: of the program, too, from the GOP convention in Dallas.
- 22:22Speaker 9: Republicans are gearing up today. The midterm elections are often
- 22:26Speaker 9: a problem for the White House. But for the GOP
- 22:29Speaker 9: here in 2026, a party relying upon the base that's
- 22:33Speaker 9: animated by President Trump, who's not on the ballot, well,
- 22:36Speaker 9: this makes things difficult.
- 22:38Speaker 10: A little bit more tricky. So they're doing a convention.
- 22:42Speaker 10: So I'd be interested to see. I've already seen the
- 22:44Speaker 10: hit pieces come out about it. Nobody's attending.
- 22:47Speaker 9: They've already got like 20,000 people going to attend. So
- 22:51Speaker 9: there's that. And there's a huge lineup of the people speaking.
- 22:56Speaker 9: Of course, the governor is going to be there. Lieutenant
- 22:58Speaker 9: Governor Ted Cruz. Donald Trump. Apparently he's speaking both nights.
- 23:03Speaker 9: He's going to kick things off and then he's going
- 23:05Speaker 9: to do the keynote, I guess. But Ted Cruz will
- 23:08Speaker 9: be there, Mike Collins, Mike Lawler, Derek Van Orden. You got,
- 23:13Speaker 9: once again, Mike Rogers. So there's a bunch of other
- 23:16Speaker 9: people that will be there. And once again, I'm not
- 23:18Speaker 9: going to go through the whole list. But there's like
- 23:22Speaker 9: 109 people that will be there speaking. So we can
- 23:25Speaker 9: get into that. That'll be fun to talk with Matt
- 23:27Speaker 9: Locke tomorrow, who will be live from the convention in Dallas.
- 23:31Speaker 10: I don't... I've been at... Like I said, I went
- 23:33Speaker 10: to CPAC with Matt before. And, you know, so.
- 23:37Speaker 10: I know how that is.
- 23:38Speaker 9: I can't imagine the security for this. This is back
- 23:40Speaker 9: before they started trying to murder the president. So, and
- 23:45Speaker 9: Dallas can't afford, no, no, no, no. They can't afford
- 23:48Speaker 9: to kill another president. So this is indoors. It's not outdoors.
- 23:51Speaker 9: It would be way too hot here in Texas. All right,
- 23:53Speaker 9: let's take a break. We'll come back, catch up with
- 23:54Speaker 9: our guest, Holly Hanson from the Texan news.
- 23:58Speaker 10: She joins us here next on Chris X radio. Don't
- 24:00Speaker 10: you go anywhere.
- 24:00Speaker 9: We'll find out if you live in Harris County, if
- 24:03Speaker 9: the Democrats have raised your taxes yet.
- 24:07Speaker 10: Because they're going to. Oh, didn't they just raise our taxes? Yeah,
- 24:10Speaker 10: that's right.
- 24:10Speaker 9: My taxes went up about $ 200 a year within the
- 24:13Speaker 9: last two years.
- 24:15Speaker 10: And now they're raising it again. Why?
- 24:19Speaker 9: Because the Democrats will never run out of things to
- 24:22Speaker 9: blow your tax dollars on. So they keep grasping for
- 24:26Speaker 9: more every chance they get.
- 24:29Speaker 10: You're listening to Chris X Radio. We'll be right back
- 24:31Speaker 10: with Holly Hanson.
- 24:36Speaker 8: Elections have consequences. So does your radio dial. Don't touch it.
- 24:41Speaker 8: Chris X Radio returns after this.
- 24:44Speaker 10: When it comes to garage doors, no one knows more.
- 24:47Speaker 22: Than the doctor.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Garage door doctor.
- 24:51Speaker 6: If there's just one piece of advice I could give
- 24:53Speaker 6: every homeowner, it's this. If your garage door spring breaks,
- 24:57Speaker 6: don't try to fix it. Those springs are under incredible tension.
- 25:01Speaker 6: They're designed to lift the garage door that can weigh two, three,
- 25:04Speaker 6: or even 400 pounds. When they fail, they can be
- 25:07Speaker 6: dangerous without the right tools and the right training. Hi,
- 25:10Speaker 6: I'm Tommy Mello, CEO of Garage Door Doctor. The good news,
- 25:13Speaker 6: most spring replacements are very straightforward when performed by an
- 25:16Speaker 6: expert technician. We use high-quality springs designed to last a lifetime.
- 25:21Speaker 6: And we stand behind our work so you can have
- 25:23Speaker 6: confidence every time your garage door opens. When it comes
- 25:26Speaker 6: to springs, leave it to the professionals. Locally operated, focused
- 25:30Speaker 6: on serving families and the community better. Save $ 100 on
- 25:34Speaker 6: a new spring replacement today. From repairs to upgrades, call
- 25:37Speaker 6: Garage Door Doctor today.
- 25:39Speaker 10: Garage Door Doctor.
- 25:43Speaker 12: If you have roof problems, you can sure see them
- 25:45Speaker 12: when it rains. This is Deb Tejada from Tejas Roofing.
- 25:48Speaker 12: If you see a leak, call me immediately, 281-251-0304. I'll
- 25:54Speaker 12: send over the Tejas Roof Repair Truck.
- 25:56Speaker 21: That truck has everything our experienced crew needs to fix
- 25:59Speaker 21: your roof, right.
- 26:00Speaker 8: Then and there.
- 26:01Speaker 12: The Tejas Roofing crew has been working together fixing leaky
- 26:04Speaker 12: roofs for 15 years.
- 26:05Speaker 11: It's not a pretty truck, but it has everything we
- 26:07Speaker 11: need to get the job done.
- 26:09Speaker 10: I kind of like the way it looks.
- 26:10Speaker 12: Most roofing repairs cost less than $ 500.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Why?
- 26:14Speaker 12: Because we find the cause of the leak and repair
- 26:16Speaker 12: that leak. We won't try to sell you services you
- 26:19Speaker 12: don't need.
- 26:19Speaker 21: And we'll fix it right away because everything we need,
- 26:22Speaker 21: it's in our truck.
- 26:23Speaker 12: Don't put off fixing a leaky roof. Call me at
- 26:25Speaker 12: Tejas Roofing and I'll send over the truck.
- 26:28Speaker 17: 281-251-0304. When you think of roofing.
- 26:31Speaker 12: Repairs or a new roof, think Tejas Roofing, your Houston
- 26:35Speaker 12: roofing company.
- 26:36Speaker 9: 281-251-0304.
- 26:36Speaker 12: That's Tejas Roofing, 281-251-0304. And now for the bonus round.
- 26:45Speaker 8: Who imposes property taxes?
- 26:48Speaker 10: State government.
- 26:50Speaker 8: Nice try, but no.
- 26:52Speaker 17: Local governments.
- 26:53Speaker 8: Correct.
- 26:54Speaker 10: And we have a winner.
- 26:56Speaker 8: Here's Governor Greg Abbott on his plan to control property taxes.
- 27:01Speaker 23: The state of Texas does not impose a property tax.
- 27:04Speaker 23: Only local governments impose property taxes. One of the reasons
- 27:07Speaker 23: why your property taxes are going up is because local
- 27:10Speaker 23: governments are increasing their spending. So the first thing we
- 27:14Speaker 23: got to do is to stop the spending that leads.
- 27:17Speaker 10: To property tax increases.
- 27:19Speaker 23: You should have a say on whether or not your
- 27:21Speaker 23: property taxes go up.
- 27:23Speaker 10: It should be a.
- 27:23Speaker 23: Vote that requires two-thirds vote before any property tax increase
- 27:28Speaker 23: can ever be imposed on our fellow Texans. You're going
- 27:31Speaker 23: to be able to live in your home for the
- 27:33Speaker 23: rest of your lives without being priced out of it.
- 27:35Speaker 8: Protecting homeowners, lowering property taxes. That's Governor Greg Abbott.
- 27:40Speaker 10: Political ad paid for by Texans for Greg Abbott.
- 27:44Speaker 8: And now, back to Chris X Radio. Chris X Radio.
- 27:48Speaker 8: On the voice of Texas.
- 27:56Speaker 3: All right, I guess we've got a queen joining us now,
- 28:06Speaker 3: but I don't think she's from Mississippi.
- 28:08Speaker 9: Actually, I don't know where Holly is from. Welcome back
- 28:11Speaker 9: to Chris X Radio. I'm the aforementioned X-Man. It is
- 28:14Speaker 9: time to catch up with our guest. She is a
- 28:16Speaker 9: reporter with the Texan News.
- 28:17Speaker 10: Holly Hanson joins us here now.
- 28:19Speaker 9: She's been monitoring what's happening over at Harris County Commissioner's
- 28:23Speaker 9: Court today. And she may have some updates. So first
- 28:27Speaker 9: and foremost, Holly, I'm assuming you're not a Mississippi queen.
- 28:30Speaker 9: You are not from Mississippi, are you?
- 28:33Speaker 24: I am not from Mississippi, although my mother is from
- 28:36Speaker 24: Mississippi originally. But no, no, I've been in Texas since 1994.
- 28:44Speaker 24: So do I get an honorary Texan card? Something like that,
- 28:48Speaker 24: I think.
- 28:49Speaker 9: I think you've earned the honorary Texas card, but that
- 28:52Speaker 9: does make you a Mississippi princess since your mom is
- 28:55Speaker 9: from Mississippi.
- 28:57Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 28:58Speaker 21: But I'll take it.
- 29:00Speaker 24: I'll take whatever crown you're willing to offer.
- 29:03Speaker 10: There we go. All right.
- 29:05Speaker 9: Well, if you could somehow weasel your way into Harris
- 29:08Speaker 9: County Commissioner's Court and quit– quit those people from raising
- 29:11Speaker 9: our taxes, you would earn all kinds of crowns in
- 29:14Speaker 9: Harris County. But I guess first and foremost, as you
- 29:17Speaker 9: get started, so you've been monitoring the court meeting today.
- 29:20Speaker 10: So what's been going on?
- 29:21Speaker 9: I guess you can let us know whether they voted
- 29:23Speaker 9: to raise our taxes yet or what all has been
- 29:25Speaker 9: taking place.
- 29:25Speaker 10: That people need to know about.
- 29:28Speaker 24: Well, let me explain so people don't get confused. They
- 29:31Speaker 24: haven't taken a final vote. What they did today is
- 29:34Speaker 24: they voted to move forward with a vote. So that
- 29:38Speaker 24: means they're in the process now. They're going to notice
- 29:41Speaker 24: the public about this rate. And the final vote probably
- 29:44Speaker 24: won't take place until September 17th. But basically, what they
- 29:49Speaker 24: have agreed to do today is move forward with raising
- 29:52Speaker 24: the property taxes as high as they are allowed to
- 29:57Speaker 24: without voter approval. It's something we call the voter approved rate,
- 30:02Speaker 24: which sounds a little misleading, honestly. But it will mean
- 30:06Speaker 24: approximately a 12% increase in a part of the tax rate.
- 30:13Speaker 24: When Harris County residents look at their tax bill, they
- 30:16Speaker 24: actually see four different entities that tax their property on
- 30:21Speaker 24: that are controlled by Harris County. And there's others too,
- 30:23Speaker 24: of course, your school district and so forth. But they
- 30:26Speaker 24: are looking at a pretty sizable hike coming again this
- 30:31Speaker 24: next year, should the commissioners vote on this final approval
- 30:35Speaker 24: on the 17th, later this month. And this comes on
- 30:39Speaker 24: the heels of that tax increase that they approved a
- 30:43Speaker 24: couple of years ago using what we call the disaster loophole.
- 30:48Speaker 24: And that was because we had some severe storms in
- 30:51Speaker 24: Harris County and lawmakers that had this disaster exception that
- 30:56Speaker 24: allowed the county to raise rates without getting voter approval
- 30:59Speaker 24: that year. So, you know, taxes have been rising pretty
- 31:04Speaker 24: steadily under this commissioner's court. And what was interesting today
- 31:09Speaker 24: is that you had Commissioner Tom Ramsey, who is the
- 31:13Speaker 24: lone Republican on commissioner's court. vote against accepting this voter-approved rate,
- 31:19Speaker 24: as we call it. And interestingly enough, Lena Hidalgo also
- 31:23Speaker 24: joined him. She is the county judge. She is a progressive,
- 31:27Speaker 24: but she has concerns about the way her fellow commissioners
- 31:33Speaker 24: have handled the budget and wanted to have some more
- 31:35Speaker 24: questions answered. Of course, her vote ultimately didn't change anything
- 31:40Speaker 24: in the end, but it was interesting to see County
- 31:43Speaker 24: Judge Lena Hidalgo vote with the lone Republican, Tom Ramsey,
- 31:48Speaker 24: although she said she came to her decision based on
- 31:52Speaker 24: a different line of reasoning than what Commissioner Ramsey did. Ramsey,
- 31:56Speaker 24: of course, was very concerned about what the homeowners, property
- 32:02Speaker 24: owners in Harris County are having to pay in addition
- 32:05Speaker 24: to other things that they're dealing with, the rising cost
- 32:08Speaker 24: of living. And one thing that was discussed a lot
- 32:13Speaker 24: today was the increase in county expenses, and we're even
- 32:18Speaker 24: creating a whole new department. A lot of departments have expanded,
- 32:24Speaker 24: and there are a slew of temporary programs that were
- 32:28Speaker 24: started with federal COVID funds that county taxpayers will now
- 32:33Speaker 24: be paying to continue.
- 32:35Speaker 9: All right, we're talking with Holly Hanson. She's a reporter
- 32:37Speaker 9: with the Texan News. That's the texan.news, which, by the way,
- 32:41Speaker 9: you can go find out and read all of her
- 32:43Speaker 9: work and all of her colleagues. They do a fine job.
- 32:46Speaker 9: She does not only a great job covering commissioners court, but.
- 32:48Speaker 10: A lot of things here in the Harris County area
- 32:50Speaker 10: and as well as the state of Texas.
- 32:51Speaker 9: You know, it's funny you talk about Lena Hidalgo. Yeah,
- 32:55Speaker 9: she made a statement here in the last few weeks.
- 32:57Speaker 9: She was a fiscal conservative. Did anybody buy that statement
- 33:00Speaker 9: that she is somehow a fiscal conservative, Holly?
- 33:05Speaker 24: I don't think so. I mean, you know, we see
- 33:09Speaker 24: people throw these terms around and not really give them
- 33:12Speaker 24: an accurate definition. I think in her mind, what that
- 33:16Speaker 24: means is, you know, we can go ahead and spend
- 33:19Speaker 24: a lot of money, but we have to raise taxes
- 33:21Speaker 24: to pay for it as much as possible. And there
- 33:25Speaker 24: were quite a few people at Commissioner's Court today asking
- 33:28Speaker 24: for continuations of all these programs. that were started during
- 33:34Speaker 24: that COVID relief period and want to keep those programs going.
- 33:40Speaker 24: And at the same time, we're very much in opposition
- 33:43Speaker 24: to things like pay parity for law enforcement officers. And
- 33:49Speaker 24: Harris County has had trouble keeping law enforcement officers because
- 33:52Speaker 24: they have not given them pretty regular raises over the
- 33:57Speaker 24: past 10 years. And so there were a lot of
- 33:59Speaker 24: concerns about about keeping staff and with some of the
- 34:04Speaker 24: other entities in the area, such as the city of Houston,
- 34:07Speaker 24: raising salaries for police officers. Harris County was frankly losing
- 34:13Speaker 24: a lot of people. And so, you know, but there
- 34:16Speaker 24: are those in the community who are very much opposed
- 34:19Speaker 24: to funding police officers. They're opposed to funding the jail
- 34:24Speaker 24: and the criminal justice system, but they do not, prefer
- 34:28Speaker 24: funding towards things that they call preventative or diversion programs
- 34:33Speaker 24: that put people on a different track. But as far
- 34:38Speaker 24: as Lena Hidalgo being fiscally conservative, probably not. She probably
- 34:45Speaker 24: wouldn't really fit into that category. She just, you know,
- 34:48Speaker 24: a lot of people who are advocating for more spending
- 34:52Speaker 24: will use that term And what they mean is they
- 34:55Speaker 24: want to raise taxes to cover all of the additional
- 34:58Speaker 24: spending that they would like.
- 34:59Speaker 9: Yeah, and they've added a whole lot of additional spending,
- 35:03Speaker 9: as you pointed out. We're talking with Holly Hansen. She's
- 35:05Speaker 9: a reporter with TheTexan.News. If you want to get your information,
- 35:08Speaker 9: you want to actually get decent information, go to TheTexan.News.
- 35:12Speaker 9: It's not clouded by most of the other news outlets
- 35:15Speaker 9: that we see. Well, not only in the area, but
- 35:18Speaker 9: in the entire country, honestly. You mentioned the pay parity,
- 35:21Speaker 9: which kind of dovetails right into what I was going
- 35:23Speaker 9: to ask you about. Well, there's at least three articles
- 35:26Speaker 9: that I wanted to touch on today. So I guess
- 35:28Speaker 9: we'll get the Cliff Notes version of them. You have
- 35:31Speaker 9: one with the police pay, the parity, which is probably
- 35:35Speaker 9: the most recent article. I'm assuming that's exactly what you
- 35:39Speaker 9: were talking about, the pay parity and with what's happening
- 35:41Speaker 9: with the police officers compared to them wanting to raise
- 35:44Speaker 9: our taxes?
- 35:46Speaker 24: Yes, that's right. You know, Harris County, like I said,
- 35:50Speaker 24: you know, they have not been, how would we say it?
- 35:54Speaker 24: They haven't been warm and fuzzy towards the constables in particular,
- 35:58Speaker 24: we'll say. And so there's been a tendency over the
- 36:02Speaker 24: years to kind of neglect the constables departments. And keep
- 36:05Speaker 24: in mind that we have eight elected constables in Harris County.
- 36:09Speaker 24: They each manage departments of varying sizes. And in fact,
- 36:13Speaker 24: Constable Precinct 4, I believe, may be the largest constable's
- 36:17Speaker 24: precinct in the entire country. But those elected constables have
- 36:22Speaker 24: not been getting raises. They started making a lot of
- 36:26Speaker 24: noise about that a few years ago, and they did
- 36:29Speaker 24: get some raises. They had to go through a grievance
- 36:32Speaker 24: committee in one case. But the situation was such that
- 36:36Speaker 24: their second-in-command was actually making more than they were. And
- 36:41Speaker 24: that was just compounded last year when the county approved
- 36:45Speaker 24: a raise for a lot of the patrol officers. And
- 36:49Speaker 24: that kind of carried through there.
- 36:51Speaker 7: So.
- 36:52Speaker 24: Another thing that happened last year is you had some
- 36:54Speaker 24: lawmakers pass a law saying that the constables have to
- 36:58Speaker 24: make the same as the sheriff and the fire marshal
- 37:02Speaker 24: also has to make the same. And so this year,
- 37:06Speaker 24: a lawmaker pointed out to Harris County that they were
- 37:09Speaker 24: not in compliance with that law. And what they were
- 37:13Speaker 24: supposed to have done is given the constables an increase
- 37:16Speaker 24: to make them equal to the sheriff. The constables actually
- 37:21Speaker 24: went to the county and said, we don't think we
- 37:24Speaker 24: need to make as much as the sheriff. We'll do
- 37:26Speaker 24: the settlement agreement. So they are getting a raise this year,
- 37:30Speaker 24: but not as much as is necessarily required by state lawmakers.
- 37:37Speaker 24: So there was kind of a prolonged fight about that,
- 37:41Speaker 24: but that is not something that really has a huge
- 37:45Speaker 24: impact on on the overall budget. When we're looking at
- 37:49Speaker 24: some of the increases in expenses, you do see an
- 37:53Speaker 24: increase because of the pay parity that they gave to
- 37:56Speaker 24: all of the patrol officers, but it's not because of
- 38:00Speaker 24: the raise given to the fire marshal and the eight
- 38:03Speaker 24: elected constables. Those are pretty much a drop in the
- 38:06Speaker 24: bucket at this point.
- 38:08Speaker 9: And Holly, like I said, at least in my opinion,
- 38:11Speaker 9: when it comes to them giving the police or constables
- 38:14Speaker 9: a raise, the progressives on commissioner's court really don't like
- 38:18Speaker 9: their constituency being arrested and taken to jail.
- 38:21Speaker 10: So that's why they're always against it. I'm obviously kidding.
- 38:25Speaker 9: That story goes right into the flock cameras as well,
- 38:28Speaker 9: which you have an article from yesterday, which flock cameras
- 38:31Speaker 9: have become a big issue on both sides of the
- 38:33Speaker 9: political aisle. Now, this is something I think a lot
- 38:36Speaker 9: of Democrats and Republicans have lined up that they're against.
- 38:40Speaker 10: And you've got an article regarding that.
- 38:43Speaker 6: Yes.
- 38:43Speaker 24: Thank you for pointing that out. That, you know, I
- 38:46Speaker 24: worked on that article and my goal there was to
- 38:48Speaker 24: try to talk about the argument coming from both sides,
- 38:51Speaker 24: because you get a lot of support for these. devices
- 38:55Speaker 24: from law enforcement. They really tout it as an important
- 38:59Speaker 24: tool in solving and preventing crime. But of course, there
- 39:03Speaker 24: are all of these examples of some of the users
- 39:07Speaker 24: abusing the system, not using it appropriately. And there are some,
- 39:11Speaker 24: I think, legitimate concerns about whether or not these devices
- 39:19Speaker 24: are in need of Fourth Amendment protections. And that means
- 39:23Speaker 24: that you have to have a warrant, basically, to access
- 39:26Speaker 24: that information. My guess is you're going to see this
- 39:29Speaker 24: land before the Supreme Court because what you basically end
- 39:34Speaker 24: up with is a mass surveillance. And, you know, I
- 39:38Speaker 24: think everybody's really happy when it's used to find, for example,
- 39:42Speaker 24: a child kidnapper or a murderer or a missing child
- 39:47Speaker 24: or something like this. They're less enthusiastic when they find
- 39:51Speaker 24: out that someone in the police department used it to
- 39:55Speaker 24: track an ex-girlfriend or ex-wife or stalk or harass people.
- 40:00Speaker 24: And there are some concerns about, you know, the private entities,
- 40:05Speaker 24: excuse me, that can use these too, because these automatic
- 40:10Speaker 24: license plate readers are also installed in private settings. So
- 40:15Speaker 24: you will see them sometimes used by homeowners associations, different neighborhoods.
- 40:21Speaker 24: Some Home Depots have them in their parking lot. And
- 40:25Speaker 24: they're sold on the idea of providing some security. But
- 40:30Speaker 24: I think a lot of people are a little worried
- 40:32Speaker 24: about being able to be tracked in real time and
- 40:36Speaker 24: who might access that information and use it in a
- 40:40Speaker 24: way that that maybe we wouldn't like and doesn't accord
- 40:45Speaker 24: with the U.S. Constitution and our right to be not
- 40:51Speaker 24: subject to unreasonable search and seizure. So a lot of
- 40:56Speaker 24: information in that article, and I hope your listeners will
- 40:59Speaker 24: read it because I try to present both sides here
- 41:02Speaker 24: and show you all the different entities who are ending
- 41:06Speaker 24: their contracts with the largest provider, which is Swat Safety,
- 41:10Speaker 24: although there are multiple other providers.
- 41:14Speaker 10: Well, and as you pointed out, you're right.
- 41:16Speaker 9: It is a great tool to be used to help,
- 41:18Speaker 9: you know, track missing people or possibly abducted children. Unfortunately,
- 41:23Speaker 9: the police aren't helping their matters much when they've got
- 41:25Speaker 9: multiple officers that are going through and tracking ex-girlfriends and
- 41:29Speaker 9: things like that. That literally shows the reason why people
- 41:31Speaker 9: are concerned about that kind of stuff. I'm one of
- 41:33Speaker 9: those people, like I said, I don't care if they're–
- 41:35Speaker 9: I don't find any right to privacy if I'm on
- 41:38Speaker 9: the roads or once I've left my house.
- 41:39Speaker 10: I don't really feel that.
- 41:41Speaker 9: But that being said, I don't want police officers hunting
- 41:44Speaker 9: down their ex-girlfriends or whatever. That tends to be a
- 41:47Speaker 9: big problem. All right, and finally here, because we're already
- 41:49Speaker 9: running out of time, Houston has accepted.
- 41:52Speaker 10: A $ 50.
- 41:53Speaker 9: Million extortion– I'm sorry, buyout fee from the Woodlands– To
- 41:59Speaker 9: end this sales tax agreement and, of course, prevent annexation.
- 42:03Speaker 9: And you did this article on this last week. This
- 42:05Speaker 9: was a story that sort of hit. Now, one, I
- 42:08Speaker 9: lived in Kingwood and coming from Kingwood, I lived through
- 42:10Speaker 9: the annexation and I saw what happened and I saw
- 42:13Speaker 9: the services go down for Kingwood and things didn't get
- 42:16Speaker 9: better with the annexation. So that's why I'm joking that
- 42:18Speaker 9: it's an extortion payment with the city. But we've seen
- 42:21Speaker 9: this on, like I said, from, I guess, many avenues
- 42:24Speaker 9: where the city tries to go and annex an area
- 42:26Speaker 9: like the Woodlands and things get worse. Well, the Woodlands
- 42:29Speaker 9: don't want any part of it. And you covered this
- 42:30Speaker 9: in your latest article.
- 42:33Speaker 22: That's right.
- 42:34Speaker 24: And the Woodlands has long been worried about that. And
- 42:36Speaker 24: they had this agreement they had engaged in in 2007
- 42:40Speaker 24: that said Houston could not annex the Woodlands Township until 2057.
- 42:47Speaker 24: And in exchange, the township was making these payments and
- 42:51Speaker 24: it was going into this regional participation fund. And they
- 42:55Speaker 24: were supposed to create these mutually beneficial regional projects. And
- 42:59Speaker 24: they did do some projects. But the caveat was that
- 43:03Speaker 24: the projects could only be constructed if Houston contributed dollar
- 43:07Speaker 24: for dollar matching funds. Well, the city has kind of
- 43:11Speaker 24: stopped doing that. In fact, they haven't done any projects
- 43:14Speaker 24: or offered any matching funds since 2018. And that balance
- 43:18Speaker 24: was growing. So it was sitting at about $ 22. 6 million. So,
- 43:23Speaker 24: you know, the city of the Woodlands looked at this.
- 43:25Speaker 24: I'm sorry, not the city. They're a township, not properly.
- 43:28Speaker 21: Called a city.
- 43:29Speaker 24: But they looked at this, and they don't want to
- 43:32Speaker 24: be annexed. And there were some rumors that some lawmakers
- 43:37Speaker 24: were looking at this and were possibly going to pull
- 43:40Speaker 24: the rug out from under it anyways. So the Woodlands
- 43:45Speaker 24: went to Houston and said, look, we'll pay you. You
- 43:48Speaker 24: have some cash to meet your budget shortfall, and we'll
- 43:51Speaker 24: end this arrangement, and you can never annex us ever again.
- 43:56Speaker 24: and the city of Houston decided to go ahead and
- 43:58Speaker 24: accept that. There was quite a lot of discussion at
- 44:01Speaker 24: city council last week about it, and there were some
- 44:04Speaker 24: folks opposed to it, but ultimately most of the council
- 44:07Speaker 24: voted for it. John Whitmire, the mayor, supported it as
- 44:11Speaker 24: well and also warned, you know, we could either have
- 44:15Speaker 24: this $ 50 million now, and they call it a bird
- 44:18Speaker 24: in the hand versus two in the bush because, They
- 44:22Speaker 24: were really thinking that the state lawmakers, the legislature, was
- 44:25Speaker 24: going to come in next year and end this arrangement anyways,
- 44:28Speaker 24: and they wouldn't get anything. So they argued it's a
- 44:32Speaker 24: win-win deal for both. And I think certainly the people
- 44:36Speaker 24: of the Woodlands are very relieved not to be annexed
- 44:38Speaker 24: by the city of Houston.
- 44:40Speaker 9: Yeah, I think the $ 50 million extortion fee is worth it.
- 44:43Speaker 9: So that's my words. Once again, we're talking with Holly Hanson.
- 44:48Speaker 9: She's a reporter with the Texan News. It's thetexan.news. If
- 44:51Speaker 9: you guys want to go read her work, and I
- 44:52Speaker 9: encourage you to especially go read the Flawed Cameras article,
- 44:55Speaker 9: but of course the pay parity, and then you can
- 44:57Speaker 9: even read about the annexation, which she wrote last week. Holly,
- 45:00Speaker 9: how does everybody follow you? What's the best way to
- 45:02Speaker 9: follow you on social media and where you're at?
- 45:05Speaker 24: Well, probably the best way is to go on X.
- 45:08Speaker 24: It's fast moving, but I post a lot of things there.
- 45:12Speaker 24: Almost all of my work is posted there as well
- 45:15Speaker 24: as things that I don't actually write an article about
- 45:17Speaker 24: that are just in my inbox or something that someone
- 45:21Speaker 24: sent me. And yeah, so it's its own kind of
- 45:26Speaker 24: little news thread there, if you will. And Often I
- 45:30Speaker 24: live tweet some of the hearings that I'm attending and
- 45:33Speaker 24: some of the meetings that I'm attending, such as today's
- 45:36Speaker 24: Harris County Commissioner's Court.
- 45:38Speaker 10: Well, there you go. Add Holly S. Hansen is the

- 47:51Speaker 27: A recent client who closed with us had his payment
- 47:54Speaker 27: go up about $ 300, but his monthly outgo was being

- 50:45Speaker 11: Is it A Christmas Carol?
- 50:47Speaker 10: It is not A Christmas Carol. That is incorrect. I

- 51:14Speaker 9: You know why those alligators get so ornery, right, Bobby?
- 51:16Speaker 9: Because they got all them teeth and no toothbrush. I
- 51:23Speaker 9: love that movie. And I also love his mama. She
- 51:26Speaker 9: was so Kathy Bates was so good in that movie.
- 51:30Speaker 10: So was, well, Henry Winkler. Jerry Reed was hilarious.
- 51:37Speaker 9: Henry Winkler's Coach Kline. So anytime I need something done,
- 51:41Speaker 9: you just think of me as your Coach Kline, Luke Ash, okay?
- 51:44Speaker 9: And then I'm going to steal my green folder back,
- 51:49Speaker 9: my notebook back from Jerry Reed.
- 51:53Speaker 10: So we stay out of trouble.
- 51:53Speaker 2: All right.
- 51:54Speaker 10: Welcome back to Chris X radio.
- 51:56Speaker 9: Once again, I want to thank Holly Hanson, a reporter
- 51:58Speaker 9: with the Texan news, the Texan dot news. You can
- 52:00Speaker 9: also follow Holly on social media at Holly S Hanson.
- 52:05Speaker 9: On Twitter X. So make sure you're following her. She
- 52:07Speaker 9: does a great job. And go read her latest stuff.
- 52:09Speaker 10: She's been following commissioners court all day today.
- 52:11Speaker 9: I imagine she may have an article regarding that coming
- 52:13Speaker 9: up here in the near future. But she has the
- 52:16Speaker 9: most recent article was pay parity. So that's a good one.
- 52:20Speaker 9: Of course, the flock cameras, which has been a point
- 52:23Speaker 9: of contention for a lot of folks here over the
- 52:25Speaker 9: last few weeks.
- 52:28Speaker 10: Maybe even longer.
- 52:29Speaker 9: And then, of course, the Woodlands buyout from the Houston
- 52:31Speaker 9: annexation of $ 50 million. I keep calling a $ 50 million
- 52:35Speaker 9: extortion fee to keep from paying off the mob bosses
- 52:38Speaker 9: of Houston.
- 52:42Speaker 10: Which they took the bribe.
- 52:43Speaker 9: It's a $ 50 million bribe.
- 52:45Speaker 10: And Houston's taking it.
- 52:46Speaker 9: So the Woodlands avoids being annexed, which didn't happen in Kingwood.
- 52:53Speaker 9: Kingwood got annexed. And that didn't work out so well
- 52:56Speaker 9: for Kingwood.
- 52:57Speaker 10: So there you go. All right, well, we'll.
- 52:59Speaker 9: Wrap up this first hour, and we'll come back for
- 53:01Speaker 9: hour number two. We'll open up phone lines if you
- 53:03Speaker 9: want to join us. 281-558-KSEV.
- 53:09Speaker 5: 281-558-5738.
- 53:10Speaker 10: You're listening to Chris X Radio.
- 53:11Speaker 9: When we come back, we'll talk about the unprecedented midterm
- 53:16Speaker 9: convention for the GOP in Dallas.
- 53:18Speaker 10: Starts tomorrow.
- 53:19Speaker 9: Matt Locke will be joining us live from the GOP
- 53:22Speaker 9: convention in Dallas. So we'll have him to kick things
- 53:25Speaker 9: off at 4.06, whatever.
- 53:26Speaker 10: Time we start. Does 4.06 sound about like the right time, Lucas?
- 53:31Speaker 10: Does that sound correct to you?
- 53:32Speaker 14: Yes, sir.
- 53:32Speaker 4: All right.
- 53:34Speaker 10: He said yes, sir. We'll get into that.
- 53:36Speaker 9: And also, MAGA Incorporated, the main pro-Trump super PAC, has
- 53:40Speaker 9: made a $ 10 million ad by the.
- 53:42Speaker 10: Texas Senate race. So that's a good sign. Hour number
- 53:45Speaker 10: two is up next.
- 53:47Speaker 21: AM 700, KSCV, Tomball, Houston, and streaming online at kscvradio.com,
- 53:54Speaker 21: the voice of Texas.
- 53:57Speaker 22: News this hour from Town Hall. I'm Keith Peters in Washington.
- 54:01Speaker 21: All right.
- 54:02Speaker 22: American satisfaction with schools has reached a low point.
- 54:06Speaker 28: A new poll by Gallup and the Walton Family Foundation
- 54:09Speaker 28: shows only about a third of Americans are satisfied with
- 54:12Speaker 28: the quality of K-12 education. That's the lowest since Gallup
- 54:16Speaker 28: began polling on the topic 27 years ago. Dissatisfaction with
- 54:20Speaker 28: schools in the U.S. has reached a high of 67%.
- 54:24Speaker 28: Satisfaction has declined since the COVID-19 pandemic. Democrats are driving
- 54:29Speaker 28: the recent slide. Their satisfaction is down about 19 points
- 54:33Speaker 28: since President Trump's second term began in 2025. Most Americans
- 54:38Speaker 28: do not feel schools are doing a good job of
- 54:40Speaker 28: teaching skills like critical thinking and preparing students for future jobs.
- 54:45Speaker 28: I'm Mike Hamilton.
- 54:46Speaker 22: The UK is banning goods from Israeli settlements.
- 54:49Speaker 15: The UK government says it's banning trade with Israeli settlements
- 54:53Speaker 15: in the occupied West Bank, where settler terrorists are carrying
- 54:57Speaker 15: out ethnic cleansing of Palestinians. Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband tells
- 55:02Speaker 15: the House of Commons secular actions have resulted in the
- 55:05Speaker 15: UK toughening its stance.
- 55:07Speaker 29: I do not believe the British people want us supporting
- 55:09Speaker 29: the occupation by accepting products from settlements in our shops
- 55:13Speaker 29: and supermarkets. So I can announce today that we will
- 55:15Speaker 29: introduce an import ban on goods from illegal settlements in
- 55:18Speaker 29: the occupied territories.
- 55:20Speaker 15: The ban includes a range of services including financing, construction, infrastructure,
- 55:25Speaker 15: real estate and advertising for settlements.
- 55:28Speaker 9: I'm Charles de la Desma.
- 55:29Speaker 22: President Trump has honored the victims of the September 11,
- 55:32Speaker 22: 2001 attacks by vowing to never forget. He spoke Tuesday
- 55:37Speaker 22: at an event at the Ellipse that opens days of
- 55:40Speaker 22: commemorations of the attacks a quarter century ago. On Wall Street,
- 55:45Speaker 22: the Dow down by 628 points, the Nasdaq dropped 85,
- 55:47Speaker 22: the S & P lower by 45.
- 55:47Speaker 10: More at townhall.com. Hi, I'm Kirk Cameron.

- 57:23Speaker 2: This True Sand commentary is brought to you by Ability
- 57:26Speaker 2: Tree Experts.
- 57:27Speaker 8: Ability Tree Experts, Houston's leading tree care professionals.
- 57:30Speaker 10: Call 281-441-4179.
- 57:31Speaker 8: From KSEV, here's political contributor Ben Strewsand.
- 57:39Speaker 32: To my fellow Republicans who supported John Cornyn and won't
- 57:43Speaker 32: vote for Ken Paxton.
- 57:45Speaker 10: You're about to give control of the U.S.
- 57:47Speaker 32: Senate over to the socialists that now run the Democrat Party.
- 57:51Speaker 32: Their plan is to pack the Supreme Court, give statehood
- 57:54Speaker 32: to D.C. and Puerto Rico, so as to add four
- 57:57Speaker 32: new Democrats to the Senate and control the Electoral College.
- 58:02Speaker 32: Do you really want that on your conscience? And don't
- 58:04Speaker 32: think for a minute that somehow progressive socialist turned moderate
- 58:09Speaker 32: James Tallarico won't support the Bernese team. He won't have
- 58:14Speaker 32: a choice. Or another election for six years. We all
- 58:18Speaker 32: know what it's like to support crap candidates when a
- 58:21Speaker 32: Republican primary is over. We've held our nose and voted
- 58:24Speaker 32: Republican so many times that the smell doesn't stink anymore.
- 58:28Speaker 10: It's your turn.
- 58:29Speaker 32: Whatever problems you have with Paxton, and he's got a few,
- 58:33Speaker 32: pale in comparison to the damage that will be done
- 58:36Speaker 32: if you allow a Democrat to win a Senate race
- 58:39Speaker 32: in Texas. Besides, he doesn't sport any swastikas, his relationships
- 58:45Speaker 32: with women were consensual, and he thinks Hamas is a
- 58:49Speaker 32: bunch of murderers. With Tallarico, you get men playing in
- 58:52Speaker 32: women's sports, the DEI agenda, unfettered illegal immigration, and handcuffs
- 58:58Speaker 32: on police, not criminal. So starting with John Cornyn's Senate buddies,
- 59:03Speaker 32: John Thune and Rick Scott, get over it before it's
- 59:06Speaker 32: too late. Spend the money. Saying I told you so
- 59:10Speaker 32: might make you feel better, but only briefly. Besides, we
- 59:14Speaker 32: wouldn't be in this position. if Cornyn had retired and
- 59:18Speaker 32: let a new generation take over. Texas Republicans read the
- 59:22Speaker 32: polling and knew he was done for. But you all
- 59:25Speaker 32: seem to think that you're indispensable. I'm Ben Strewsand, and
- 59:32Speaker 32: that's my view.
- 59:34Speaker 8: Ben Strewsand, only on AM700 KSEV.
- 59:41Speaker 25: Thank goodness our weather experts are providing us with hurricane
- 59:44Speaker 25: tracking charts and reminding us to be prepared for big storms.
- 59:47Speaker 25: But they overlook one very important thing, the damage and
- 59:49Speaker 25: destruction from broken limbs and uprooted trees. Call Lewis Flory
- 59:53Speaker 25: at Ability Tree Experts today. My friend for nearly 40 years.
- 59:57Speaker 25: At 281-441-4179 and let him explain how this problem can
- 1:00:02Speaker 25: be minimized with professional pruning. You see, when the tree
- 1:00:05Speaker 25: canopy is too thick and dense, the tree can be
- 1:00:07Speaker 25: completely blown over and tree limbs broken. causing terrible damage
- 1:00:11Speaker 25: to the tree and maybe your home. Where tree limbs break,
- 1:00:15Speaker 25: sap will ooze, and that attracts harmful insects. So you
- 1:00:18Speaker 25: need to call Louis Flory today at 281-441-4179 and have
- 1:00:24Speaker 25: his experts come out and professionally prune your trees to
- 1:00:28Speaker 25: withstand sudden storms that are so frequent this time of year.
- 1:00:31Speaker 25: Visit their website at AbilityTrees.com. That's 281-441-4179. Ability Tree Experts,
- 1:00:38Speaker 25: Houston's leading tree care professional.
- 1:00:40Speaker 8: King SEV, 700 AM. Launch Control, this is Houston.
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: We are going to launch. 5.
- 1:00:57Speaker 14: 4, 3, 2, 1.
- 1:01:01Speaker 32: That's Chris X Radio.
- 1:01:02Speaker 8: Chris X Radio.
- 1:01:04Speaker 14: What we need right now is a clear message to
- 1:01:07Speaker 14: the people of this country. This message must.
- 1:01:10Speaker 6: Be read in every newspaper, heard on every radio, seen
- 1:01:13Speaker 6: on every television.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: This message must resound throughout the entire intelligence.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: And now, your host.
- 1:01:19Speaker 4: I believe this is going to be our finest hour.
- 1:01:21Speaker 8: Chris X.
- 1:01:44Speaker 10: Good evening and welcome to the second hour of Chris
- 1:01:46Speaker 10: X Radio.
- 1:01:47Speaker 9: Glad to have you here with us as we are
- 1:01:49Speaker 9: rocking and rolling to the 6 p.m.
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: Hour.
- 1:01:51Speaker 9: That's right, we control the broadcast here for about another hour.
- 1:01:55Speaker 9: Then we'll turn it over to the Joey Pags. Joey
- 1:01:58Speaker 9: Pags taking over at 6. Then we'll be back tomorrow
- 1:02:03Speaker 9: for our hump day edition. I know it's already Tuesday.
- 1:02:06Speaker 9: Doesn't seem like a Tuesday, though. Kind of feels like
- 1:02:09Speaker 9: a Monday to me. Lucas, since you worked yesterday, does
- 1:02:11Speaker 9: it feel like a Monday to you too, or is
- 1:02:13Speaker 9: this totally like a Tuesday?
- 1:02:14Speaker 8: Oh, it's Tuesday.
- 1:02:16Speaker 10: Okay.
- 1:02:18Speaker 9: So for those who actually worked yesterday, well, it's still Tuesday.
- 1:02:22Speaker 9: So for those of us who didn't, take a holiday.
- 1:02:26Speaker 9: What's funny is that Labor Day is one of those
- 1:02:27Speaker 9: days I sometimes take off, sometimes don't. Like I said,
- 1:02:30Speaker 9: I know in the past I've taken certain holidays. Some
- 1:02:33Speaker 9: I did, some I didn't. I always save them up,
- 1:02:36Speaker 9: as I was mentioning, for the holidays. You know, around Thanksgiving,
- 1:02:39Speaker 9: we always eat on Wednesday. So oftentimes I'll take that Wednesday.
- 1:02:42Speaker 9: And then Thanksgiving Day is a holiday. And then take
- 1:02:46Speaker 9: the Friday off. Good Friday.
- 1:02:47Speaker 10: I don't have to take Friday off. I think the Amigos,
- 1:02:51Speaker 10: I don't know if they normally take Fridays off. Well,
- 1:02:56Speaker 10: I think they normally take good.
- 1:02:58Speaker 10: Sorry, Black Fridays, what they call it. So.
- 1:03:02Speaker 9: But then, of course, around Christmas and New Year's, that's
- 1:03:05Speaker 9: really slow times.
- 1:03:06Speaker 10: I know there's some people still listen.
- 1:03:08Speaker 9: And I know in the past we played Christmas music
- 1:03:11Speaker 9: on Christmas Eve and I think Christmas Day. I think
- 1:03:14Speaker 9: we start playing it on Christmas Eve and then on
- 1:03:17Speaker 9: Christmas Day. So that's what we've done in the past.
- 1:03:20Speaker 9: I don't know if that's going to change. So but
- 1:03:24Speaker 9: I take a little time off around the holidays. So
- 1:03:26Speaker 9: but that's literally the only time I take my time.
- 1:03:29Speaker 9: I've taken more days than I used to. I know
- 1:03:30Speaker 9: the first four, five, five, six years I was on,
- 1:03:33Speaker 9: I didn't really take any days.
- 1:03:35Speaker 10: Anyway, glad to be back. I'm the X-Man. This is
- 1:03:37Speaker 10: hour number two.
- 1:03:38Speaker 9: I want to thank Holly Hansen for joining us in
- 1:03:40Speaker 9: the first hour. I want to remind everyone, we've got
- 1:03:43Speaker 9: a brand new app to download from the App Store
- 1:03:47Speaker 9: or the Google Play. Store, if you're on Android or
- 1:03:50Speaker 9: your KSV radio app, make sure you download that. The
- 1:03:53Speaker 9: app has been upgraded severely. You can call into the
- 1:03:56Speaker 9: radio programs. You can listen live. You can even watch live.
- 1:04:00Speaker 9: Click a button, and boom, you're watching. So it is
- 1:04:02Speaker 9: a severe upgrade compared to what we had before. So
- 1:04:06Speaker 9: I like the new app a whole lot better. And then,
- 1:04:09Speaker 9: once again, we got a new website, ksvradio.com, so you
- 1:04:13Speaker 9: can listen there, as.
- 1:04:14Speaker 10: Well as watch the videos.
- 1:04:15Speaker 9: We've streamed the program when the interwebs are working properly, which,
- 1:04:19Speaker 9: by the way, I heard there was a Google attack yesterday,
- 1:04:23Speaker 9: which was some sort of cyber attack on Google. So.
- 1:04:28Speaker 9: Maybe we had some issues getting on some of the platforms.
- 1:04:31Speaker 9: We were on Facebook and then Twitter X and I
- 1:04:35Speaker 9: think YouTube and Rumble. We're on all the platforms now.
- 1:04:37Speaker 9: Is that correct, Lukasz?
- 1:04:38Speaker 11: All except Rumble.
- 1:04:40Speaker 10: Okay, so we're not on Rumble today.
- 1:04:41Speaker 9: Okay, so I don't know if that has anything to
- 1:04:44Speaker 9: do with a cyber attack, but could just be Rumble's
- 1:04:47Speaker 9: a little squirrely sometimes.
- 1:04:49Speaker 10: Anyway, but it's actually Tuesday.
- 1:04:51Speaker 9: I hope for those of you who got to enjoy
- 1:04:53Speaker 9: the Labor Day holiday that Hope you got to do
- 1:04:55Speaker 9: something fun. Did anybody do anything fun? If you want
- 1:04:58Speaker 9: to join us here in hour number two, 281-558-KSCV, 281-558-5738.
- 1:05:05Speaker 9: We mentioned Art Garfunkel. And as Lucas so eloquently encapsulated, who? Yeah,
- 1:05:15Speaker 9: like I said, old guys like me remember Simon and Garfunkel.
- 1:05:18Speaker 9: I think that was the last time he had a hit.
- 1:05:21Speaker 9: I don't know if he's actually recorded any music since then.
- 1:05:24Speaker 11: Oh, I have a message.
- 1:05:26Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:05:26Speaker 8: Oh, yeah.
- 1:05:27Speaker 11: Now, he was on a track with his son, Art
- 1:05:30Speaker 11: Garfunkel Jr., and he featured in the single Auld Lang Syne,
- 1:05:36Speaker 11: which I've butchered, obviously.
- 1:05:38Speaker 30: But it was a Christmas.
- 1:05:39Speaker 10: Is that Olding's sign? Yep, that's the one. Okay, okay.
- 1:05:42Speaker 11: That was December 2025.
- 1:05:43Speaker 9: Wow, okay, so that's an old Christmas song, or is
- 1:05:48Speaker 9: it a New Year's song?
- 1:05:49Speaker 10: I think it's a New Year's song.
- 1:05:51Speaker 9: That's the For All Acquaintance Be Forgotten. That's Auld Lang Syne.
- 1:05:56Speaker 9: Which I don't know what language Auld Lang Syne is.
- 1:05:58Speaker 9: I think that's German.
- 1:06:00Speaker 10: You fancy. I know that much. I'm just old. And
- 1:06:04Speaker 10: a big fan of It's a Wonderful Life. Great movie.
- 1:06:10Speaker 9: It was back featuring Jimmy Stewart. Jimmy Stewart was great.
- 1:06:18Speaker 9: I don't do a great Jimmy Stewart impression, but he
- 1:06:21Speaker 9: was amazing. That was back when Hollywood was good. They
- 1:06:24Speaker 9: actually loved our country. They went and fought for our country.
- 1:06:28Speaker 9: Not so much anymore.
- 1:06:30Speaker 10: Now the only thing.
- 1:06:30Speaker 9: They're fighting is social justice on TwitterX or Blue Sky.
- 1:06:35Speaker 10: Does anybody still go to Blue Sky? I never even registered. Luke,
- 1:06:40Speaker 10: do you still have your Blue Sky account?
- 1:06:42Speaker 11: I don't think I ever signed up for that. They
- 1:06:44Speaker 11: rejected me pretty quickly.
- 1:06:48Speaker 10: You got rejected immediately. So there you go.
- 1:06:51Speaker 9: All right. Anyway, did anybody do anything fun? 281-558-KSUV if
- 1:06:56Speaker 9: you want to join us. Art Garfunkel, that's what I
- 1:07:00Speaker 9: start calling him. Art Garfunkel, I guess he did something
- 1:07:04Speaker 9: irrelevant much, is leaving the U.S.
- 1:07:09Speaker 10: Over Trump, he says. Well, maybe. He's considering it.
- 1:07:13Speaker 9: The mere fact that you have the opportunity to consider
- 1:07:15Speaker 9: that tells you that you're in the greatest nation in
- 1:07:18Speaker 9: the world and you're idiots if you leave the country
- 1:07:21Speaker 9: because you disagree with the particular party that won the
- 1:07:23Speaker 9: last election.
- 1:07:26Speaker 10: But then again, was Ellen DeGeneres and Rosie O'Donnell, anybody else?
- 1:07:33Speaker 10: Any other people leave? I know George Clooney is still
- 1:07:37Speaker 10: in the country. He's still here.
- 1:07:38Speaker 9: And he endorsed a couple of those high-tax governors, John Ossoff.
- 1:07:43Speaker 9: But then the sleeper, which I didn't see coming. I
- 1:07:45Speaker 9: don't know if you saw this coming, Lukash, but he
- 1:07:48Speaker 9: endorsed Papio Daniel. And as you know, Papio Daniel is
- 1:07:53Speaker 9: aware of a secret society.
- 1:07:54Speaker 10: That he's not a part of. And he's a big
- 1:07:59Speaker 10: fan of them soggy bottom boys, which forever.
- 1:08:05Speaker 9: George Clooney's politics will be that movie. Oh, brother, where
- 1:08:10Speaker 9: art thou? Or is it how art thou or where
- 1:08:12Speaker 9: art thou? I can do all things I'm, but I
- 1:08:15Speaker 9: can't do that.
- 1:08:17Speaker 10: All right.
- 1:08:17Speaker 9: Anyway, so Art Garfunkel may leave the country. George Clooney's
- 1:08:20Speaker 9: staying here, unfortunately. Can somebody get George Clooney to leave?
- 1:08:24Speaker 9: Can we get rid of him?
- 1:08:24Speaker 10: Do I even care anymore? Does anybody care?
- 1:08:31Speaker 9: All right, so in this hour, we'll get to the
- 1:08:32Speaker 9: Republicans gearing up for the midterm convention in Dallas. As
- 1:08:36Speaker 9: I mentioned, I'm going to have Matt Locke joining us
- 1:08:38Speaker 9: live from the GOP convention in Dallas tomorrow at the
- 1:08:43Speaker 9: top of the hour. We'll kick it off at 4 o'clock,
- 1:08:44Speaker 9: and we'll have him on. And then MAGA Incorporated, a
- 1:08:48Speaker 9: pro-Trump super PAC, has spent $ 10 million in an ad
- 1:08:53Speaker 9: buy here in the Texas Senate race, spending on Ken
- 1:08:55Speaker 9: Paxton to offset some of those millions of dollars that
- 1:08:59Speaker 9: James Talafree has been spending.
- 1:09:02Speaker 10: He has spent a lot.
- 1:09:04Speaker 9: But I noticed over the last couple of weeks, I'm
- 1:09:08Speaker 9: not seeing as many Talafrico ads. They say I was
- 1:09:11Speaker 9: watching the polling. I guess Kalshi and stuff is doing it.
- 1:09:14Speaker 9: They've always been well within the margin of error, but
- 1:09:17Speaker 9: Talafrico seems to have peaked.
- 1:09:20Speaker 10: He seems to have topped out and is now.
- 1:09:22Speaker 9: Heading the other direction, and I do believe we'll see
- 1:09:26Speaker 9: some headway with some of this money being spent, and
- 1:09:29Speaker 9: the Republicans are going to have to spend some money.
- 1:09:31Speaker 9: If they thought they were going to be able to
- 1:09:32Speaker 9: get away without spending any money when you've got a
- 1:09:34Speaker 9: dude willing to spend $ 100 million to run a campaign
- 1:09:38Speaker 9: against everything he's ever said and stood for and voted
- 1:09:41Speaker 9: for in the Texas House, well, you would be sorely mistaken.
- 1:09:45Speaker 9: So I'm glad to see they're spending a little money,
- 1:09:47Speaker 9: and the president has a little with his make— I'm sorry,
- 1:09:50Speaker 9: what is it?
- 1:09:51Speaker 10: No, MAGA Incorporated.
- 1:09:53Speaker 9: MAGA Incorporated, the greatest incorporation of all times. Did anybody
- 1:09:59Speaker 9: watch the clip of Orlando Sanchez and Letitia Plummer's attempted
- 1:10:04Speaker 9: virtual debate? Letitia Plummer either pretended or had technical difficulties, bailed,
- 1:10:12Speaker 9: and then went on social media and started lying to
- 1:10:14Speaker 9: all her people saying that Sanchez ran away when he
- 1:10:17Speaker 9: was the last one there left standing.
- 1:10:20Speaker 10: She pretended like she couldn't hear him. Well, maybe she
- 1:10:23Speaker 10: couldn't hear him. She pretended.
- 1:10:26Speaker 9: Because she said through basically his entire statement, she got
- 1:10:30Speaker 9: to tell her opening statement, and then when it was
- 1:10:32Speaker 9: his turn, an alarm went off, and then she acted
- 1:10:35Speaker 9: like she couldn't hear him, and then she just dropped
- 1:10:38Speaker 9: out the video and disappeared.
- 1:10:40Speaker 10: While Orlando was like, I can hear everything just fine.
- 1:10:42Speaker 10: I'm right here. He didn't run away. And then she
- 1:10:45Speaker 10: went on and said.
- 1:10:47Speaker 9: Well, she went and told her Facebook voters that he
- 1:10:50Speaker 9: was so scared to debate that he quit before it
- 1:10:53Speaker 9: even started. Which is a blatant lie, which tells me
- 1:10:56Speaker 9: she's lying about losing the audio. So it's not what
- 1:11:00Speaker 9: happened at all. Anyway, that's for the Harris County judgeship.
- 1:11:03Speaker 9: Go vote Orlando Sanchez. The guy served at City Hall. He's...
- 1:11:09Speaker 9: We've got to get City Hall and, well, Harris County
- 1:11:13Speaker 9: Commissioners Court out of the grips of these progressive leftists
- 1:11:15Speaker 9: that have now voted to hold the vote to raise
- 1:11:19Speaker 9: your taxes, which they will be here in another week
- 1:11:21Speaker 9: or so. So they'll be raising our taxes here shortly
- 1:11:25Speaker 9: because they can't get enough of your tax dollars to
- 1:11:28Speaker 9: spend today. The head of the Smithsonian Institution has announced
- 1:11:33Speaker 9: his retirement today, stepping down this escalating clash with the
- 1:11:37Speaker 9: Trump administration over progressive leadership in the direction of the
- 1:11:41Speaker 9: nation's museums. They've gone progressively woke. And the Trump administration
- 1:11:46Speaker 9: is like, hey, wait a minute. This is not what
- 1:11:49Speaker 9: museums are supposed to be doing. And instead of getting right,
- 1:11:52Speaker 9: he's getting gone. So they're doing that. And also today,
- 1:11:56Speaker 9: I'll make sure I get to this. Congress has finally
- 1:11:58Speaker 9: set a vote to protect the AM radio dial. And
- 1:12:01Speaker 9: that also includes American discourse, because that seems to be
- 1:12:05Speaker 9: the only place where you get it anymore. You're not
- 1:12:07Speaker 9: allowed discourse in the lamestream media. they have increasingly became groupthink,
- 1:12:13Speaker 9: and you're not allowed if you're into that, you know,
- 1:12:16Speaker 9: anything other than the groupthink, which is kind of weird.
- 1:12:19Speaker 10: All right, tell.
- 1:12:19Speaker 9: You what, let's go ahead and get a call here
- 1:12:20Speaker 9: before we have to break. 281-558-KSEV. If you want to
- 1:12:24Speaker 9: join us, 281-558-5738. We've got Frederick holding on in Richmond. Frederick,
- 1:12:30Speaker 9: thank you for hanging on. Welcome to Chris X Radio.
- 1:12:34Speaker 7: Chris, up in Plannersville, every Labor Day, they have their
- 1:12:38Speaker 7: annual feast. This is 131 years. My entire family was there.
- 1:12:44Speaker 7: Rick Perry was there, and also the entire Kubiak family
- 1:12:48Speaker 7: that wasn't coaching a football team. Great time, great food.
- 1:12:53Speaker 7: Had a $ 5 turkey leg. If you can get a
- 1:12:56Speaker 7: turkey leg in Texas for $ 5, more power to you.
- 1:13:01Speaker 7: Thank you much, Chris.
- 1:13:02Speaker 10: Thank you for the call, Frederick. It's interesting. It's out
- 1:13:04Speaker 10: there in Plantersville.
- 1:13:05Speaker 9: That's up there where, which, by the way, we're already
- 1:13:07Speaker 9: getting towards the Texas Renaissance Festival.
- 1:13:11Speaker 10: I guess it will be kicking off again.
- 1:13:13Speaker 9: Now, the king, he wasn't the king, the actor king,
- 1:13:18Speaker 9: the actual king of Plantersville, I guess, or the king.
- 1:13:21Speaker 9: He had his own little area and was the king.
- 1:13:24Speaker 9: It was rich guys, old weird guys in his 80s,
- 1:13:26Speaker 9: I do believe. or late 70s, he passed away. They
- 1:13:30Speaker 9: did a documentary on him regarding the Texas Renaissance Festival
- 1:13:34Speaker 9: right before he died. So I watched it right after,
- 1:13:38Speaker 9: I guess, before he had died because the Renaissance Festival
- 1:13:41Speaker 9: was kicking off, and oftentimes we give away tickets to
- 1:13:44Speaker 9: the Renaissance Festival, so that wouldn't surprise me if we're
- 1:13:46Speaker 9: not going to be doing that. That usually kicks off
- 1:13:48Speaker 9: at the end of October, goes through November, I think
- 1:13:52Speaker 9: maybe Black Friday or that weekend, Thanksgiving weekend I think
- 1:13:55Speaker 9: is the end of the Renaissance Festival. But so we've got,
- 1:14:00Speaker 9: that'll be coming up here before long, but the King
- 1:14:02Speaker 9: passed away. And then they were in the process, somebody
- 1:14:04Speaker 9: was in the process of trying to buy it. And
- 1:14:07Speaker 9: he was, he seemed kind of like a bit of
- 1:14:10Speaker 9: a shady character.
- 1:14:11Speaker 10: He was a weird dude. If you watch the documentary,
- 1:14:14Speaker 10: you'll see he's a very weird dude.
- 1:14:17Speaker 9: But they have the turkey legs there, which is, I
- 1:14:19Speaker 9: imagine if you're familiar with Plantersville, which clearly Frederick is.
- 1:14:24Speaker 10: That's interesting.
- 1:14:25Speaker 9: You mentioned the Kubiaks, which we had Gary Kubiak, I
- 1:14:27Speaker 9: think was the head coach of the Texans. And then
- 1:14:31Speaker 9: you mentioned the, who else did you mention? You mentioned
- 1:14:33Speaker 9: somebody else. Can't remember. But that area, so that's kind of,
- 1:14:38Speaker 9: and that's where the Renaissance Festival is located, which is,
- 1:14:41Speaker 9: I mean, it's a big area.
- 1:14:44Speaker 10: I remember going as a kid. I went three or
- 1:14:46Speaker 10: four times, really enjoyed it.
- 1:14:47Speaker 9: Then didn't go for like 25 years and then started going,
- 1:14:51Speaker 9: you know, last few years I went.
- 1:14:53Speaker 10: And I really enjoy it. It's a lot of fun.
- 1:14:55Speaker 9: But the cost of everything, of course, has gone up,
- 1:14:57Speaker 9: so it's different. But it's also a whole lot bigger
- 1:15:00Speaker 9: than it was when I went as a child. But
- 1:15:03Speaker 9: it's kind of cool. They have a bunch of people.
- 1:15:05Speaker 9: It became a cosplay sort of thing.
- 1:15:09Speaker 10: So, Lucas, are you a big fan of the Texas
- 1:15:11Speaker 10: Renaissance Festival? Do you like to go?
- 1:15:13Speaker 11: I used to when I didn't have to spend my
- 1:15:15Speaker 11: own money.
- 1:15:17Speaker 9: I may be able to get you some free tickets
- 1:15:19Speaker 9: this year. So if you want to go back, I
- 1:15:21Speaker 9: may be able to hook you up.
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: Sweet.
- 1:15:23Speaker 9: So, but I mean, people like to dress in kilts,
- 1:15:26Speaker 9: but then it was funny because I remember.
- 1:15:28Speaker 10: Going and there's storm troopers there. Wait, what? From Star Wars.
- 1:15:33Speaker 14: Yeah.
- 1:15:33Speaker 9: And so we've got those people show up. I guess
- 1:15:36Speaker 9: some of the Star Trek nerds are there.
- 1:15:37Speaker 10: It is funny.
- 1:15:39Speaker 9: And then they have the ceremonial clashing of the plastic toys.
- 1:15:43Speaker 9: But they always have, like, ogres and all kinds of
- 1:15:46Speaker 9: things from the Renaissance period, which I don't know. But nonetheless,
- 1:15:50Speaker 9: it's become a cosplay event, and it's very cool.
- 1:15:53Speaker 10: Kids love it.
- 1:15:54Speaker 9: But there's also a bit of a debauchery that goes
- 1:15:56Speaker 9: on there, so you want to kind of keep the
- 1:15:58Speaker 9: kids away from that.
- 1:15:59Speaker 10: All right, thanks for the call, Frederick.
- 1:16:00Speaker 9: Sounds like kind of a good event out there in Plantersville,
- 1:16:04Speaker 9: which I guess if they're doing $ 5 turkey legs, those
- 1:16:06Speaker 9: turkey legs are huge. You know, the thing is, I
- 1:16:09Speaker 9: like the turkey legs. but they're never as good as
- 1:16:12Speaker 9: I think they're going to be. I'm like, oh, I
- 1:16:14Speaker 9: got to have one of those turkey legs. And then
- 1:16:16Speaker 9: you get one and it's kind of a pain to
- 1:16:18Speaker 9: eat because they're not like a chicken leg. The chicken
- 1:16:22Speaker 9: legs are a lot easier to eat. Those turkey legs are,
- 1:16:23Speaker 9: first of all, they're huge. They're giant, a lot bigger.
- 1:16:27Speaker 9: And then they're just, it's like, wait a minute, hold on.
- 1:16:29Speaker 10: I can't, I'm going to need some help with this.
- 1:16:33Speaker 13: Anyway.
- 1:16:33Speaker 4: All right.
- 1:16:34Speaker 10: You're listening to Chris X radio. Let's take a break.
- 1:16:35Speaker 10: 2 8 1 5 5 8 KCV. 281-558-5738.
- 1:16:38Speaker 9: When we come back, I'll get into this, the AM
- 1:16:43Speaker 9: radio bill, keeping cars, AM radios in cars. And what's
- 1:16:50Speaker 9: funny is a lot of people, I've seen the ignorance online.
- 1:16:53Speaker 9: This is stupid technology. Nobody needs AM signals anymore. Uh,
- 1:16:59Speaker 9: I beg to disagree. I've been through multiple events here
- 1:17:02Speaker 9: in Texas where I had no cell phone coverage and
- 1:17:04Speaker 9: no internet.
- 1:17:05Speaker 10: So that's a problem. 281-558-KSEV. We'll be right back.
- 1:17:14Speaker 8: The resistance is futile. Chris X Radio.
- 1:17:18Speaker 4: Chris X Radio.

- 1:19:04Speaker 13: Hi, this is Michael Miller. Join me this weekend for
- 1:19:07Speaker 13: the Backyard Bay radio program. Now at our new time,
- 1:19:10Speaker 13: Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. right here on AM 700
- 1:19:14Speaker 13: KSEV The Voice.
- 1:19:18Speaker 8: Office is located 1 Sugar Creek Center, Sugar Land, Texas.
- 1:19:22Speaker 27: Thinking of buying a home, it's important to start off
- 1:19:24Speaker 27: with a solid pre-approval. Hi, I'm Kathy Baker from Baker Mortgage. Yes,
- 1:19:29Speaker 27: we ask a lot of questions, but that's because we're
- 1:19:31Speaker 27: not going to give you a pre-approval that's going to
- 1:19:33Speaker 27: blow up as you're trying to cross the finish line.
- 1:19:36Speaker 27: What's figured in there for property taxes? If it didn't
- 1:19:39Speaker 27: come up, you really don't know what you're pre-approved for.
- 1:19:42Speaker 27: That should make you wonder what else they may have
- 1:19:44Speaker 27: left out. At Baker Mortgage, we get it right. We
- 1:19:47Speaker 27: haven't been around for 60 years because we're lucky. Yes,
- 1:19:50Speaker 27: we have wholesale rates, 80-10-10s, and all kinds of programs,
- 1:19:54Speaker 27: but in the end, it's really about taking good care
- 1:19:56Speaker 27: of people and they continue to come back and send
- 1:19:59Speaker 27: their kids, their friends, and sometimes their parents, whether you're buying, building,
- 1:20:04Speaker 27: or refinancing. Call us at Baker Mortgage. We're at 281-313-6683.
- 1:20:10Speaker 27: That's 281-313-MOVE or directly at BakerMortgage.com.

- 1:20:18Speaker 33: This is a great song by Pink Floyd, Have Cigar.
- 1:20:39Speaker 10: I know you guys on the interwebs can't hear it.
- 1:20:43Speaker 9: I still don't understand how the morning show gets away
- 1:20:45Speaker 9: with playing this copyrighted music on the videos.
- 1:20:50Speaker 10: I would ask Lukash to.
- 1:20:51Speaker 9: Look into it, but I don't think he's up in
- 1:20:53Speaker 9: time to check out the morning shows. You know, we
- 1:20:55Speaker 9: do have a new morning show, by the way.
- 1:20:58Speaker 10: Wayne E.D. and Gregor Maggs.
- 1:21:01Speaker 9: That guy who voiced that American thing, that Chris Salcedo guy,
- 1:21:04Speaker 9: he doesn't exist anymore.
- 1:21:06Speaker 10: Since he doesn't do the morning show on our station,
- 1:21:08Speaker 10: he's dead to me, Lukash.
- 1:21:10Speaker 8: Oh, no.
- 1:21:12Speaker 9: Actually, Chris is a really nice guy, and he's not
- 1:21:14Speaker 9: dead to me. But for radio purposes, for my own purposes,
- 1:21:18Speaker 9: I'm going to say he's dead to me, okay?
- 1:21:20Speaker 13: It's your show, boss.
- 1:21:25Speaker 10: This is true.
- 1:21:26Speaker 9: I mean, and Chris Salcedo no longer does the program.
- 1:21:29Speaker 9: He moved over to the Torch, Glenn Beck's new thing.
- 1:21:33Speaker 9: So I have not checked it out yet. I need
- 1:21:35Speaker 9: to go back and check it out.
- 1:21:36Speaker 10: It's all digital. So that makes it easy. So I'll
- 1:21:38Speaker 10: go check that out.
- 1:21:40Speaker 9: But once again, that opened up the door for a
- 1:21:41Speaker 9: brand new morning show with Wayne E.D. I like Wayne Dolcevino.
- 1:21:48Speaker 9: Wayne is great. He is one of those crazy guys.
- 1:21:52Speaker 9: And I say crazy, he's the good kind of crazy.
- 1:21:54Speaker 9: He was a reporter for ABC, the local outlet here
- 1:21:58Speaker 9: in Houston, KTRK, for like 27 years. He won like
- 1:22:02Speaker 9: 30 Emmys. Then he went into business for himself, and
- 1:22:05Speaker 9: he has become the worst nightmare of corruptocrats and corrupt people.
- 1:22:11Speaker 9: They hate it when Wayne E.D. shows up with a camera.
- 1:22:14Speaker 9: So much so that a judge one time, Wayne E.D.
- 1:22:17Speaker 9: showed up at the courtroom when the judge wasn't even there, like.
- 1:22:20Speaker 10: Years after COVID-19.
- 1:22:22Speaker 9: And the judge was like, oh, hey, he saw him
- 1:22:24Speaker 9: and he recognized Wayne, but he didn't remember who he was.
- 1:22:27Speaker 10: And he was real friendly at the beginning.
- 1:22:28Speaker 9: And then before Wayne could even ask a question, the
- 1:22:32Speaker 9: judge was kicking him out of the courtroom.
- 1:22:34Speaker 10: And he was like, well, judge, why are you not here?
- 1:22:36Speaker 9: And then the judge immediately held him in contempt and
- 1:22:39Speaker 9: threw him behind bars immediately. Guess he won that deal.
- 1:22:45Speaker 9: I'm going to go with Wayne E.D. Anyway, so you
- 1:22:48Speaker 9: can tune in the mornings from 7 to 9 a.m.
- 1:22:49Speaker 9: We got Wayne E.D. and then Craigermags and You can
- 1:22:52Speaker 9: always tune in. I got to give a– I don't
- 1:22:55Speaker 9: know who– I don't know, was it Senator Betancourt that
- 1:22:57Speaker 9: started calling him Wayne E.D.? I don't know who started
- 1:23:00Speaker 9: calling him that. But Craigermags comes from Ronan Roberts in Pearland.
- 1:23:07Speaker 10: So there you go.
- 1:23:08Speaker 9: Okay, before we have to go to break, so Congress
- 1:23:09Speaker 9: is finally set to vote to protect AM radio and
- 1:23:13Speaker 9: American discourse. Now, I realize the vast majority of you
- 1:23:16Speaker 9: are listening to us right now on your AM dial,
- 1:23:20Speaker 9: many of you in your vehicle, in your car. If
- 1:23:23Speaker 9: you've gone and looked at new vehicles, some of them
- 1:23:26Speaker 9: don't have AM radios on their dial. Now, they claim
- 1:23:30Speaker 9: they were too costly and that electric vehicles, it interferes
- 1:23:34Speaker 9: with the AM signal, so they couldn't do it. So
- 1:23:36Speaker 9: all of these excuses came out as to why they
- 1:23:39Speaker 9: couldn't put AM radios in cars. Well, there's another reason
- 1:23:42Speaker 9: for it, and I'll give you my suspicion here. But
- 1:23:45Speaker 9: then we found out that Ford, in their new vehicles
- 1:23:48Speaker 9: that didn't have AM radio, when they finally said, okay,
- 1:23:52Speaker 9: we're going to put AM radio because you're going.
- 1:23:54Speaker 10: To have to because now they're passing the law.
- 1:23:58Speaker 9: To add an AM radio in their new vehicles simply
- 1:24:01Speaker 9: required an update with the computer's on-screen computer.
- 1:24:06Speaker 10: That was it. There was no interference with the electric engines.
- 1:24:10Speaker 10: None of that. It was all garbage. So they were lying.
- 1:24:14Speaker 9: So because of this omission of AM radio, a bipartisan
- 1:24:19Speaker 9: bill is set for vote in Congress this week. And
- 1:24:22Speaker 9: every new car here sold in America will have an
- 1:24:24Speaker 9: AM antenna to pick up its signal. The AM radio
- 1:24:28Speaker 9: for every vehicle act already has more than 300 co-sponsors
- 1:24:32Speaker 9: in the House, 60 in the Senate, and has been
- 1:24:34Speaker 9: pitched mainly as a measure to ensure that emergency messages
- 1:24:39Speaker 9: can be sent out through the airwaves on the AM stations.
- 1:24:42Speaker 9: The common sense measure is a good plan B to
- 1:24:44Speaker 9: have in place in case of cyber attacks or cyber outages.
- 1:24:49Speaker 9: just mentioned the cyber attack on Google yesterday, because sometimes
- 1:24:53Speaker 9: old ways can be the best ways. In fact, it's
- 1:24:56Speaker 9: a laudable goal enough that would warrant the legislation with
- 1:24:59Speaker 9: all of these industries, these cars, these car makers or
- 1:25:02Speaker 9: manufacturers decided they didn't want to put an AM radio
- 1:25:04Speaker 9: on there because they just figured it was antiquated technology.
- 1:25:07Speaker 9: But in fact, the measure does more than just protect lives.
- 1:25:11Speaker 9: It also protects civil American discourse. AM radio is one
- 1:25:15Speaker 9: of the last vestiges of that we have left in
- 1:25:19Speaker 9: this digital age. And we'll talk about that tomorrow with
- 1:25:21Speaker 9: a kid I grew up with named Ron Reeder. He
- 1:25:24Speaker 9: digs the universe, but he doesn't dig our political view.
- 1:25:28Speaker 9: But you can only really get opposing views on AM
- 1:25:31Speaker 9: radio anymore. You don't get it anywhere else. All across
- 1:25:35Speaker 9: the country, there are little stations like KSEV with a
- 1:25:37Speaker 9: predictable schedule that starts out with local and lighthearted news
- 1:25:43Speaker 9: programming in the morning, and then often in the mornings
- 1:25:46Speaker 9: to mid-afternoon, they'll run syndicated programs. And then followed by
- 1:25:50Speaker 9: an afternoon drive-time call-in show, such as one like similar
- 1:25:53Speaker 9: to Chris X Radio, where you can call in at 281-558-KSCV.
- 1:25:58Speaker 9: You can't do that on most other avenues. But you
- 1:26:02Speaker 9: can talk about local, state, and federal politics. So local
- 1:26:06Speaker 9: AM radio has become the most reliable way to know
- 1:26:09Speaker 9: what actually matters to people in communities outside of major cities.
- 1:26:12Speaker 9: For example, data centers are a relatively new issue in
- 1:26:17Speaker 9: the macro news ecosystem. But we've been hearing about it
- 1:26:20Speaker 9: for well over a year now. And the AM stations
- 1:26:23Speaker 9: all over the country, these same stations are also the
- 1:26:26Speaker 9: repository for high school sports, giving chances for kids to
- 1:26:30Speaker 9: feel they're included and their effort matters and also exploits.
- 1:26:34Speaker 9: are broadcast live to the community. So some small government
- 1:26:38Speaker 9: types may object to government handing local AM radio stations
- 1:26:42Speaker 9: the boon of enforcing access to their product, but it
- 1:26:45Speaker 9: is much more sensible in a way to help out
- 1:26:47Speaker 9: the radio industry than the national public radio model of
- 1:26:51Speaker 9: direct funding because that has been terrible.
- 1:26:54Speaker 10: The AM radio, well, it's a little different. We've all
- 1:26:57Speaker 10: seen that for a myriad of reasons.
- 1:26:58Speaker 9: Publicly funded radio, absent the constraints of free market, always
- 1:27:02Speaker 9: winds up extremely far left. But local AM radio keeps
- 1:27:07Speaker 9: the lights on by selling ads, usually to local businesses,
- 1:27:10Speaker 9: which you get to hear our business partners here on
- 1:27:12Speaker 9: this station, and has a financial incentive to create broad
- 1:27:16Speaker 9: cross-aisle appeal, which is something you don't find in a
- 1:27:19Speaker 9: lot of other avenues. But more importantly, first of all,
- 1:27:22Speaker 9: that's great, and that is important, But more importantly is
- 1:27:25Speaker 9: when the cell phones go down and the internet goes
- 1:27:27Speaker 9: down and the digital you can't get, even the FM
- 1:27:32Speaker 9: dial can't penetrate.
- 1:27:34Speaker 10: You know, when you go into those rural areas, you
- 1:27:36Speaker 10: often lose all the FM too.
- 1:27:38Speaker 9: AM radio will come in loud and proud. When I
- 1:27:42Speaker 9: go up to the Hill Country, it's amazing. I can
- 1:27:44Speaker 9: pull up an AM radio. I think it's... what is it,
- 1:27:49Speaker 9: 1200 AM out of San Antonio when I'm up in
- 1:27:52Speaker 9: Mason County and I'm out on the ranch, I can
- 1:27:54Speaker 9: pick that station up just fine. Can't pick up any FM,
- 1:27:58Speaker 9: nothing I can hear, but I can pick up multiple
- 1:28:01Speaker 9: stations on the AM dial.
- 1:28:02Speaker 10: Why is it?
- 1:28:03Speaker 9: Because it's different. The signal bounces. It's called amplitude modulation.
- 1:28:07Speaker 9: So it bounces. So when everything else goes down, AM
- 1:28:11Speaker 9: radio stays up. That's why you have your emergency alerts. Now,
- 1:28:14Speaker 9: it goes on FM's as well, but when you're out
- 1:28:16Speaker 9: in the middle of Mason County, out in a pasture somewhere,
- 1:28:19Speaker 9: you can't hear it. And it's interesting because of the
- 1:28:22Speaker 9: ranch owners that I go to, the owner, you know,
- 1:28:25Speaker 9: he drives to Fredericksburg and back. He only listens to
- 1:28:27Speaker 9: AM talk and he listens to that. They don't even
- 1:28:32Speaker 9: have like, I don't even think they have a television
- 1:28:34Speaker 9: in their home. They still have a landline. These are
- 1:28:37Speaker 9: elderly people. They're in their late 70s and early 80s.
- 1:28:40Speaker 9: So they listen to AM talk and then the news.
- 1:28:43Speaker 10: Remember those old weather radios? They've got one of those.
- 1:28:48Speaker 9: But as far as when things go down, I remember
- 1:28:51Speaker 9: during 9-11, cell phones went down, the internet went down.
- 1:28:55Speaker 10: You couldn't call anyone.
- 1:28:57Speaker 9: So if you're getting all your information from your phone, well,
- 1:28:59Speaker 9: that changes things, doesn't it? And then, of course, when
- 1:29:03Speaker 9: it comes to your television news, if a digital problem occurs, well,
- 1:29:09Speaker 9: you lose that as well. And you're not going to
- 1:29:11Speaker 9: be able to get much local news unless the local.
- 1:29:13Speaker 10: Channels are there.
- 1:29:16Speaker 9: But AM radio has been one of the last vestiges
- 1:29:19Speaker 9: that we have in this digital age.
- 1:29:21Speaker 10: So it's important. And once again, we found out that these.
- 1:29:24Speaker 9: Auto manufacturers were lying. There was no interference with electric
- 1:29:28Speaker 9: engines and the AM signal. There was no problem with it.
- 1:29:32Speaker 9: It simply required an update.
- 1:29:35Speaker 10: That was it.
- 1:29:37Speaker 9: Why were they lying? Why were they removing the AM
- 1:29:40Speaker 9: dial from their new vehicles? Because they're mostly woke, or
- 1:29:44Speaker 9: at least they were, because this was happening during the
- 1:29:47Speaker 9: Biden administration.
- 1:29:51Speaker 10: Now this is changing.
- 1:29:53Speaker 9: Once again, the Ford situation was hilarious. They sold all
- 1:29:56Speaker 9: these new cars without AM radios in them and then
- 1:29:59Speaker 9: turned right around and said, all right, we'll get you
- 1:30:01Speaker 9: your AM radios.
- 1:30:02Speaker 10: And everyone thought, okay, I got to bring my car in.
- 1:30:04Speaker 9: No, you just go to your onboard computer screen, press update, bam,
- 1:30:09Speaker 9: now you've got AM radio. It was that hard. In
- 1:30:12Speaker 9: other words, you were sold a bill of goods. All right,
- 1:30:15Speaker 9: let's take a short break. Once again, they're set to
- 1:30:17Speaker 9: vote on this bill later this week. And then that
- 1:30:19Speaker 9: will ensure that cars have AM radios. You don't have
- 1:30:22Speaker 9: to listen to it. But at the very least, especially
- 1:30:26Speaker 9: considering if it's just an update, I mean, come on.
- 1:30:31Speaker 9: Don't lie to us. Unfortunately, you can't trust people these days.
- 1:30:37Speaker 9: I'd love to be able to trust everyone at face value.
- 1:30:41Speaker 10: You can't.
- 1:30:43Speaker 12: Why?
- 1:30:45Speaker 9: Because we live in a brave new world, a post-truth society.
- 1:30:51Speaker 9: Democrats can't even tell you what a woman is anymore.
- 1:30:54Speaker 9: All right, 281-558-KSEV. You're listening to Chris X Radio. We'll
- 1:30:57Speaker 9: be right back.
- 1:31:03Speaker 8: You're listening to Chris X Radio.
- 1:31:05Speaker 4: Chris X Radio.
- 1:31:06Speaker 8: On the voice of Texas.
- 1:31:09Speaker 12: When it's time to replace a roof, some people put
- 1:31:11Speaker 12: it off until an emergency arises. This is Deb Tejada
- 1:31:14Speaker 12: from Tejas Roofing, your Houston roofing company.
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: I understand.
- 1:31:18Speaker 12: People tell me it's way too complicated and too expensive.
- 1:31:22Speaker 21: Our customers tell us they wish they would have done
- 1:31:24Speaker 21: it sooner.
- 1:31:25Speaker 29: I hear it all the time.
- 1:31:26Speaker 12: Once the roof is replaced, they wonder why they waited
- 1:31:29Speaker 12: so long because it's really not that complicated. We show
- 1:31:32Speaker 12: up on time. We quote you a fair price. We
- 1:31:34Speaker 12: replace most roofs in just one day. At Tejas Roofing,
- 1:31:38Speaker 12: we take pride in making the process easy.
- 1:31:41Speaker 10: The cleanup is phenomenal.
- 1:31:42Speaker 11: People always comment that it looks like we were never there.
- 1:31:45Speaker 20: And now those customers sleep better at night knowing your
- 1:31:48Speaker 20: new roof has been installed correctly.
- 1:31:50Speaker 12: When you know you need a new roof, don't put
- 1:31:51Speaker 12: it off. Call me now, Depth Ahada, at Tejas Roofing, 281-251-0304.
- 1:31:58Speaker 12: Estimates are free, 281-251-0304. When you need roofing repairs, a
- 1:32:03Speaker 12: new roof, or remodeling, call us at Tejas Roofing, 281-251-0304.
- 1:32:10Speaker 25: Thank goodness our weather experts are providing us with hurricane
- 1:32:12Speaker 25: tracking charts and reminding us to be prepared for big storms.
- 1:32:16Speaker 25: But they overlook one very important thing, the damage and
- 1:32:18Speaker 25: destruction from broken limbs and uprooted trees. Call Lewis Flory
- 1:32:22Speaker 25: at Ability Tree Experts today. My friend for nearly 40 years.
- 1:32:26Speaker 25: At 281-441-4179 and let him explain how this problem can
- 1:32:31Speaker 25: be minimized with professional pruning. You see, when the tree
- 1:32:34Speaker 25: canopy is too thick and dense, the tree can be
- 1:32:36Speaker 25: completely blown over and tree limbs broken, causing terrible damage
- 1:32:40Speaker 25: to the tree and maybe your home. Where tree limbs break?
- 1:32:44Speaker 25: sap will ooze and that attracts harmful insects. So you
- 1:32:47Speaker 25: need to call Louis Flory today at 281-441-4179 and have
- 1:32:53Speaker 25: his experts come out and professionally prune your trees to
- 1:32:57Speaker 25: withstand sudden storms that are so frequent this time of year.
- 1:33:00Speaker 25: Visit their website at abilitytrees.com. That's 281-441-4179. Ability Tree Experts,
- 1:33:07Speaker 25: Houston's leading tree care professional.
- 1:33:10Speaker 8: And now for the bonus round. Who imposes property taxes?
- 1:33:14Speaker 10: State government.
- 1:33:16Speaker 8: Nice try, but no.
- 1:33:18Speaker 17: Local governments.
- 1:33:20Speaker 6: Correct.
- 1:33:21Speaker 10: And we have a winner.
- 1:33:23Speaker 8: Here's Governor Greg Abbott on his plan to control property taxes.
- 1:33:27Speaker 23: The state of Texas does not impose a property tax.
- 1:33:30Speaker 23: Only local governments impose property taxes.
- 1:33:33Speaker 21: One of the.
- 1:33:33Speaker 23: Reasons why your property taxes are going up is because
- 1:33:36Speaker 23: local governments are increasing their spending. So the first thing
- 1:33:40Speaker 23: we got to do is to stop the spending that
- 1:33:43Speaker 23: leads to property tax increases. You should have a say
- 1:33:47Speaker 23: on whether or not your property taxes go up. It
- 1:33:49Speaker 23: should be a vote that requires two-thirds vote before any
- 1:33:54Speaker 23: property tax increase can ever be imposed on our fellow Texans.
- 1:33:57Speaker 23: You're going to be able to live in your home
- 1:33:59Speaker 23: for the rest of your lives without being priced out
- 1:34:01Speaker 23: of it.
- 1:34:02Speaker 8: Protecting homeowners, lowering property taxes. That's Governor Greg Abbott.
- 1:34:07Speaker 10: Political ad paid for by Texans for Greg Abbott.
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: From the KSEV Weather Center, tonight expect a few scattered
- 1:34:13Speaker 1: thunderstorms early on, then becoming mainly clear and humid. The
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: low will be 77. Tomorrow will bring partly sunny skies
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: with humidity persisting, along with a chance of an afternoon thunderstorm.
- 1:34:22Speaker 8: Look for a high of 92.
- 1:34:24Speaker 1: Tomorrow night, the weather will turn cloudy and humid with
- 1:34:26Speaker 1: a chance of a late thunderstorm.
- 1:34:27Speaker 10: The low will be 76.
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: Moving into Thursday, anticipate a mix of sunshine and clouds
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: with humidity lingering and the possibility of a thunderstorm in
- 1:34:34Speaker 1: the afternoon. The high temperature will reach 91. With the
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: KSCB Weather Center forecast, I'm AccuWeather meteorologist Jason Catarina.
- 1:34:46Speaker 8: You can't stop him. You can only hope to contain him.
- 1:34:50Speaker 8: Chris X Radio.
- 1:35:21Speaker 9: I still love the name of this song. Lukasz, do
- 1:35:24Speaker 9: you know the name of this song by Chicago?
- 1:35:26Speaker 10: I do not. It is called 25 or 624. That's fantastic.
- 1:35:36Speaker 10: I always tell this story.
- 1:35:37Speaker 9: And I imagine the listeners are probably sick of it,
- 1:35:38Speaker 9: but I'm assuming if you didn't know the name of
- 1:35:40Speaker 9: the song, you don't even know the story behind it.
- 1:35:44Speaker 8: I do not.
- 1:35:44Speaker 9: Okay, well, your mind is about to be blown, okay?
- 1:35:49Speaker 9: First of all, it's a very cool song, which I
- 1:35:51Speaker 9: learned a lot of bands, high school bands, play this song.
- 1:35:54Speaker 9: But I guess because of the horns, it makes sense now.
- 1:35:57Speaker 9: So a lot of bands really play that. I didn't
- 1:35:58Speaker 9: realize that. But now that I think back, I'm like, yeah,
- 1:36:01Speaker 9: I guess that makes sense. But the band is called Chicago.
- 1:36:04Speaker 9: They had Saturday in the Park. Must have been the
- 1:36:08Speaker 9: 4th of July, which is a great song. They've had
- 1:36:11Speaker 9: a lot of hit songs. But then this one came along,
- 1:36:14Speaker 9: and nobody knew what it meant. And the title is
- 1:36:17Speaker 9: 25 or 6 to 4.
- 1:36:20Speaker 10: And I didn't know what it meant for literally decades.
- 1:36:24Speaker 9: And then I heard, was it Peter Cetera or one
- 1:36:26Speaker 9: of the guys in the band talking about he was
- 1:36:29Speaker 9: up late. Him and one other guy were working on
- 1:36:32Speaker 9: the song. They were putting it together. And there was
- 1:36:33Speaker 9: another guy or two laying there sleeping on the couch.
- 1:36:36Speaker 9: And it was really late. And they finally kind of
- 1:36:39Speaker 9: got it together for the most part. And they weren't
- 1:36:41Speaker 9: quite sure what to call it. And he leaned over
- 1:36:44Speaker 9: to his buddy in the band. He goes, man, what
- 1:36:45Speaker 9: should we call this song? And he was like, I
- 1:36:48Speaker 9: don't know. He goes, what time is it? And it
- 1:36:50Speaker 9: was almost 4 a.m., 335 or so. And Peter Cetera
- 1:36:55Speaker 9: or whomever it was, whichever member of the band, looked
- 1:36:58Speaker 9: at the clock and goes, it's 25 or six to four.
- 1:37:01Speaker 10: He goes, call it that.
- 1:37:05Speaker 9: And that was the working title while they were working
- 1:37:07Speaker 9: on the song. And then when they finished the final product,
- 1:37:10Speaker 9: they went, that's a great title. We're leaving it. So
- 1:37:13Speaker 9: that's how they got the title to 25 or six
- 1:37:15Speaker 9: to four, because it was literally put together at 25
- 1:37:18Speaker 9: or six to four.
- 1:37:19Speaker 10: In the morning. Do you feel enlightened, Lucas?
- 1:37:23Speaker 8: Absolutely.
- 1:37:26Speaker 9: I still love that story. Once again, I'm, I'm a
- 1:37:28Speaker 9: wealth of useless rock and roll trivia. If somehow I
- 1:37:31Speaker 9: could get paid for that, Lucas, will you start working
- 1:37:34Speaker 9: on opportunity? Send out one of your homing pigeons to
- 1:37:36Speaker 9: figure out how to get me paid for all of
- 1:37:37Speaker 9: the useless rock and roll trivia that I know.
- 1:37:40Speaker 11: I'll send my long one. He can fly far and
- 1:37:42Speaker 11: fly deep.
- 1:37:44Speaker 9: Okay, that's what we need. All right, welcome back to
- 1:37:46Speaker 9: Chris X Radio. For those on the Internet that can't
- 1:37:49Speaker 9: or are watching the videos, you can't really hear the music,
- 1:37:52Speaker 9: but you can always look the song up, and then
- 1:37:53Speaker 9: you'll know what I'm talking about. For those listening on
- 1:37:56Speaker 9: the stream on the new KSEV app, which is an
- 1:37:58Speaker 9: awesome app, you can hear it. Or if you're listening
- 1:38:00Speaker 9: on the old AM dial, which Congress is going to
- 1:38:03Speaker 9: vote to make sure that cars have AM signals in them,
- 1:38:06Speaker 9: which is smart and good, Uh, then you could listen
- 1:38:09Speaker 9: at 700 AM. That's where we, I know the vast
- 1:38:11Speaker 9: majority of you guys are listening in your vehicles as
- 1:38:14Speaker 9: you're driving and hopefully you're not driving through any rain.
- 1:38:17Speaker 9: There's looked like a little weather coming in, but I'm all.
- 1:38:19Speaker 10: Dry over here.
- 1:38:20Speaker 9: All right, let's go to the phones. 2 8 1
- 1:38:22Speaker 9: 5 5 8 K SCV here. We've got a little
- 1:38:25Speaker 9: bit of remaining time in this segment and one more remaining.
- 1:38:27Speaker 10: So we can try to get you in by the
- 1:38:28Speaker 10: end of the show. 2 8 1 5 5 8
- 1:38:29Speaker 10: K SCV here.
- 1:38:30Speaker 9: Let's go to Don listening in point blank. Don, thank
- 1:38:35Speaker 9: you for hanging on. Welcome to Chris X Radio.
- 1:38:39Speaker 4: Yeah, you were talking about AM, you know, bouncing off
- 1:38:44Speaker 4: the clouds and you could pick it up there in
- 1:38:47Speaker 4: the hill country and Of course, AM radio frequency is
- 1:38:53Speaker 4: much lower than FM, and the wavelength is... I mean,
- 1:38:57Speaker 4: the wavelength of the sine wave, you know, what that
- 1:39:02Speaker 4: looks like, it could be like half a mile or something,
- 1:39:07Speaker 4: whereas frequencies for FM is much shorter, and it penetrates
- 1:39:15Speaker 4: so much... more deeply than AM. So it doesn't bounce
- 1:39:23Speaker 4: off clouds. And it's all part of the electromagnetic spectrum.
- 1:39:30Speaker 4: And if you look at that, there's a little bit
- 1:39:35Speaker 4: between violet and red that we can see. And then
- 1:39:40Speaker 4: you got ultraviolet and infrared, which is lower than red.
- 1:39:45Speaker 4: and ultraviolet, which is higher than you go on up
- 1:39:49Speaker 4: to x-rays, gamma rays, you know, like x-rays can penetrate
- 1:39:54Speaker 4: so much more. So it's kind of an inverse thing. Um,
- 1:40:02Speaker 4: they am just travel so much. And you got, in fact,
- 1:40:06Speaker 4: first time I met Dan Patrick, I was saying, Hey,
- 1:40:11Speaker 4: I go home to point blank after work. And, uh,
- 1:40:15Speaker 4: I'll be listening to Laura Ingraham on radio. And then
- 1:40:18Speaker 4: all of a sudden I'm hearing about Cincinnati Bengals. Well,
- 1:40:23Speaker 4: and he, he said that, um, he goes back to
- 1:40:27Speaker 4: the time of Roosevelt where you have these clear channels.
- 1:40:31Speaker 4: And I know you have to do that. I think
- 1:40:34Speaker 4: lower the power at night. So I think it's WLW
- 1:40:39Speaker 4: out of Cincinnati. You can pick that up all over
- 1:40:42Speaker 4: the place because it's a clear channel and, I don't
- 1:40:45Speaker 4: know all the legal things about that now. Hold on, Don.
- 1:40:51Speaker 10: Before you continue, let me add to this.
- 1:40:53Speaker 9: First of all, what you're talking about is right on.
- 1:40:55Speaker 9: There are the Clear Channel stations, not the company. They're
- 1:40:57Speaker 9: called Clear Channel 740 KTRH. in Houston is the Clear
- 1:41:01Speaker 9: Channel Station, which means it is the weather station, the
- 1:41:05Speaker 9: emergency alert station of choice, and everybody follows them. You
- 1:41:08Speaker 9: were talking about the difference between FM, which is frequency modulation,
- 1:41:12Speaker 9: and AM, amplitude modulation. Frequency modulation is a very tight stream.
- 1:41:16Speaker 9: As you mentioned, it penetrates walls, and people can listen
- 1:41:19Speaker 9: within a distance. But then when you drive outside of
- 1:41:22Speaker 9: the distance of it, it dissipates very quickly and goes away.
- 1:41:26Speaker 9: Whereas amplitude modulation, as you mentioned, It's a much wider wave.
- 1:41:30Speaker 10: It bounces.
- 1:41:31Speaker 9: And, of course, clouds and fog only amplify that signal.
- 1:41:35Speaker 9: So that's why you can pick up some stations, depending
- 1:41:39Speaker 9: on the weather conditions. And you mentioned KCV. Yes, we
- 1:41:42Speaker 9: have a daytime signal. But then a lot of stations,
- 1:41:45Speaker 9: as required by the FCC, have a nighttime signal where
- 1:41:48Speaker 9: they power down to a small portion of what the
- 1:41:50Speaker 9: daytime signal is. And there are still even daytime stations
- 1:41:54Speaker 9: that aren't even allowed to have any.
- 1:41:55Speaker 10: Power at night.
- 1:41:57Speaker 9: Because of those bigger stations. I used to work at 6.50 a.m.
- 1:42:00Speaker 10: Years ago. It's only a day timer station. And then
- 1:42:03Speaker 10: what is it?
- 1:42:05Speaker 9: WSM out of Nashville comes booming into the area as
- 1:42:07Speaker 9: soon as they sign off at dusk. But as soon
- 1:42:10Speaker 9: as we power down, you're right, you get these WOR
- 1:42:13Speaker 9: or whatever it is out of Cincinnati. But that happens
- 1:42:16Speaker 9: to a lot of the a.m. stations as well. So
- 1:42:19Speaker 9: that's a quick lesson there. into sort of what happens.
- 1:42:22Speaker 9: And then you mentioned as, as time has evolved, it
- 1:42:24Speaker 9: turns out we have a whole lot more frequencies that
- 1:42:27Speaker 9: we can play with on the spectrum that we didn't
- 1:42:28Speaker 9: have access to a long time ago.
- 1:42:31Speaker 10: So it has.
- 1:42:31Speaker 9: Expanded greatly, but that's the down and dirty as to why,
- 1:42:35Speaker 9: you know, AM you can pick it up. There've been times,
- 1:42:38Speaker 9: like I said, where I was listening to KSEV in,
- 1:42:40Speaker 9: in Llano County, in Llano city, you know, all the
- 1:42:44Speaker 9: way over there because the weather conditions were just right.
- 1:42:46Speaker 9: But usually you get, like I said, the other squirrely
- 1:42:49Speaker 9: stations that will come through.
- 1:42:51Speaker 10: And there were Mexican stations.
- 1:42:52Speaker 9: They used to put these AM stations on the Mexican
- 1:42:55Speaker 9: border and shoot them into America. And, I mean, big 100,000-watt
- 1:43:00Speaker 9: stations because they didn't have to follow the FCC rules.
- 1:43:03Speaker 9: So we would have to deal with that. So it's
- 1:43:05Speaker 9: a very interesting subject when you start really digging into it, Don. Okay,
- 1:43:08Speaker 9: I just wanted to add that here before you wrapped up.
- 1:43:11Speaker 7: Oh, sure, sure.
- 1:43:13Speaker 4: Yeah, you're right about, I think, I don't know what
- 1:43:16Speaker 4: it is now. I was thinking like 50,000 watts was the,
- 1:43:21Speaker 4: you know, limit in the U.S. I don't know.
- 1:43:24Speaker 10: Yeah, in the U.S.
- 1:43:26Speaker 9: At one time, Don, there were 100,000, if I'm not
- 1:43:28Speaker 9: even mistaken, this is not in America.
- 1:43:30Speaker 10: This is Mexico.
- 1:43:32Speaker 9: They would put these huge signals right on the border
- 1:43:35Speaker 9: and shoot them into America. So we would have to
- 1:43:38Speaker 9: contend with that. And I remember there was at least
- 1:43:41Speaker 9: multiple 100,000-watt stations. And if I remember at one time,
- 1:43:44Speaker 9: I think there was a 300,000-watt station. So that's what
- 1:43:48Speaker 9: happens because we can't, you know, obviously we don't control
- 1:43:51Speaker 9: what Mexico does, especially regarding that.
- 1:43:54Speaker 10: I don't know if they're.
- 1:43:55Speaker 9: Still doing that, but I know if you get down
- 1:43:57Speaker 9: near the border, boy, you can get some of those
- 1:43:59Speaker 9: Mexican stations coming across the border loud and clear into America.
- 1:44:04Speaker 9: They like to tap into the American audience for sure.
- 1:44:08Speaker 4: Yeah. Well, one thing, though, since you have the 1540
- 1:44:16Speaker 4: out of Galveston, I can't see. I'm listening to you
- 1:44:24Speaker 4: now on the Internet. But it's I used to pick
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: you up in the daytime real strong, but I can't
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: pick you up here and point blank. You know, I'm
- 1:44:38Speaker 4: same distance from you as say Huntsville or Livingston and
- 1:44:45Speaker 4: I just can't pick you up anymore I don't know
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: if it all happened when you added 1540 and the
- 1:44:53Speaker 4: strange thing is I can sort of pick up 1540
- 1:44:58Speaker 4: not real well but I can't pick up 700 at all.
- 1:45:02Speaker 10: Yeah, it's OK.
- 1:45:03Speaker 9: So I can explain to you what happened was we
- 1:45:05Speaker 9: lost the transmitter site that we had before, which was
- 1:45:07Speaker 9: located in Tomball.
- 1:45:09Speaker 10: And that was a good blowtorch. I mean, that it
- 1:45:11Speaker 10: was located in Tomball, which.
- 1:45:12Speaker 9: Shot right over your area, which is why you were
- 1:45:14Speaker 9: able to pick us up in the daytime very well. Well,
- 1:45:17Speaker 9: a developer owned that land and they gave us a
- 1:45:19Speaker 9: certain amount of time and then we lost the transmitter there.
- 1:45:22Speaker 9: So we moved to a transmitter in Cyprus. That transmitter
- 1:45:25Speaker 9: is angled a different direction now. So we're still good
- 1:45:27Speaker 9: in certain areas. Like in my area, I live over
- 1:45:29Speaker 9: in the Cypress area. I think it's upgraded day or night.
- 1:45:32Speaker 9: But that's not for everybody. And in certain parts of town,
- 1:45:35Speaker 9: like I said, like your area, it's not as good
- 1:45:39Speaker 9: as it once was. So they added 1540, which comes
- 1:45:42Speaker 9: out of Galveston. And it was weird because 1540 apparently
- 1:45:45Speaker 9: comes in real good in Kingwood, which is on the
- 1:45:47Speaker 9: north side of Houston.
- 1:45:49Speaker 10: Don't ask me why.
- 1:45:50Speaker 9: But they've got a different sort of signal pattern that
- 1:45:53Speaker 9: comes in real well over there. But no, that's why
- 1:45:55Speaker 9: our signal pattern changed. And we're working on, in fact,
- 1:45:58Speaker 9: we just upgraded the signal, I think just last week.
- 1:46:02Speaker 9: And I think they're still doing a little bit more
- 1:46:03Speaker 9: upgrading it. So we're getting back to, you know, sort
- 1:46:06Speaker 9: of where we were not, I don't know if we'll
- 1:46:08Speaker 9: ever be quite to where we once were because it's
- 1:46:10Speaker 9: a completely different transmitter and different angling, but we're upgrading
- 1:46:13Speaker 9: it in order to try to get as best we can.
- 1:46:15Speaker 9: And that's also why, you know, you can listen. And
- 1:46:18Speaker 9: thanks for the call, Donna.
- 1:46:18Speaker 10: We need to take a break.
- 1:46:20Speaker 9: While you can pick it up, it's good to listen
- 1:46:22Speaker 9: on the internet at kscvradio.com. You can listen live there.
- 1:46:26Speaker 9: Of course, download the app to your smartphone, which you
- 1:46:28Speaker 9: can do at our website or from your app store.
- 1:46:31Speaker 9: at KCV Radio and listen on your phone. The app
- 1:46:34Speaker 9: has been majorly upgraded.
- 1:46:36Speaker 10: It's great. You can listen. You can watch. You can
- 1:46:39Speaker 10: call directly from the app. So there's that.
- 1:46:41Speaker 9: And then, of course, we've added the video streams over
- 1:46:44Speaker 9: on social media, which is Facebook.
- 1:46:46Speaker 10: And Twitter X. Normally on Rumble, but I don't think
- 1:46:49Speaker 10: it's there today. They're having issues. And then YouTube. So
- 1:46:52Speaker 10: you can get the program there.
- 1:46:53Speaker 9: So we've added a whole lot of other elements to
- 1:46:55Speaker 9: make sure those of you who are in the areas
- 1:46:58Speaker 9: where the signal changed, you still had access to the station.
- 1:47:01Speaker 9: And boy, the upgrade to the signal was needed big
- 1:47:04Speaker 9: time because the old app was not great.
- 1:47:07Speaker 10: And the new app is fantastic. So there you go.
- 1:47:10Speaker 10: All right, let's take a break.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: 281-558-KSV.
- 1:47:12Speaker 9: It was a good little AM radio lesson and FM
- 1:47:16Speaker 9: radio station or lesson, which explains why when I'm out
- 1:47:20Speaker 9: in the... You know, in the country, when you get
- 1:47:23Speaker 9: out to a certain area, you don't get any of
- 1:47:24Speaker 9: those FM stations. When you're driving on the road, boy,
- 1:47:26Speaker 9: you hear them perfectly, and then you get out to
- 1:47:28Speaker 9: the little area, and.
- 1:47:28Speaker 10: Then they're gone. But I can still get the AM stations.
- 1:47:33Speaker 10: It's crazy.
- 1:47:33Speaker 9: I remember there's been times where I was in a
- 1:47:35Speaker 9: pasture in Mason County listening over the AM dial.
- 1:47:39Speaker 10: Now, generally, I listen on my phone because I can
- 1:47:41Speaker 10: get it, but I can still pick up some. I
- 1:47:43Speaker 10: don't know if I, with the current... you know, pattern.
- 1:47:46Speaker 9: I don't know if it still hits there, but I'll
- 1:47:48Speaker 9: still try to listen when I'm driving through. Outside of Giddings,
- 1:47:52Speaker 9: I hear our station perfectly in Giddings. It's crazy.
- 1:47:55Speaker 10: All right, 281-558-KSCB. I'm Chris X. We'll come back and
- 1:47:58Speaker 10: wrap up today's show. Don't you go away.

- 1:48:50Speaker 27: all the scary stuff we've been through, it's still true
- 1:48:53Speaker 27: that timing is everything, and the time to buy is now.
- 1:48:56Speaker 27: But don't go looking without a solid pre-approval in hand.
- 1:49:00Speaker 27: And this includes an application and a detailed discussion about
- 1:49:03Speaker 27: property taxes. If you didn't have the talk, You know,
- 1:49:06Speaker 27: about property taxes, you really don't know what you're pre-approved for.
- 1:49:10Speaker 27: That should make you wonder what else they may have
- 1:49:12Speaker 27: left out. Mortgages are personal. Let's face it, we're dealing
- 1:49:15Speaker 27: with your home and your money, and it doesn't get
- 1:49:18Speaker 27: much more personal than that. When it's the largest transaction

- 1:51:15Speaker 10: Such a good song. That's cool.
- 1:51:18Speaker 9: Anyway, welcome back to Chris X radio. You reached the
- 1:51:20Speaker 9: final segment of the program. We'll be back tomorrow for
- 1:51:23Speaker 9: our hump day edition of the show. Yeah, we got
- 1:51:26Speaker 9: a lot going on this week. We've got the, by
- 1:51:29Speaker 9: the way, I'm the aforementioned X man. I appreciate the
- 1:51:31Speaker 9: history lesson that we got with Don. He is a
- 1:51:34Speaker 9: history buff and he knows far more about history than
- 1:51:37Speaker 9: I do. But when it comes to AM radio, well,
- 1:51:40Speaker 9: I know a thing or two about radio. I've been
- 1:51:41Speaker 9: doing it for 25, 26 years now. It just blows
- 1:51:45Speaker 9: me away. I turned around and I got old. But
- 1:51:49Speaker 9: it was always good to catch up with Don out
- 1:51:51Speaker 9: in Point Blank. I love Point Blank. I don't go
- 1:51:54Speaker 9: there very often, but I love the name of it. Anyway,
- 1:51:56Speaker 9: I want to thank Holly Hanson, a reporter with the
- 1:51:58Speaker 9: Texan News, thetexan.news. Follow her at Holly S. Hanson on TwitterX.
- 1:52:03Speaker 9: That way you can keep up with what's happening in
- 1:52:05Speaker 9: Harris County and some of the other local surrounding areas.
- 1:52:09Speaker 9: We'll be back for our hump day edition tomorrow. And
- 1:52:11Speaker 9: then of course we'll do our Friday show on Thursday.
- 1:52:14Speaker 9: Mention the, the tomorrow we'll be talking with Matt Locke
- 1:52:17Speaker 9: as we kick things off of the program. He'll be
- 1:52:19Speaker 9: live from the GOP convention in Dallas. Once again, an
- 1:52:22Speaker 9: unprecedented midterm convention. So Donald Trump, I also heard there's
- 1:52:26Speaker 9: a rumor, maybe more than a rumor that he's going
- 1:52:30Speaker 9: to be doing rallies again, leading up to the election.
- 1:52:34Speaker 9: That could be good because when Donald Trump is on
- 1:52:36Speaker 9: the ticket, he does well. When he's not on the ticket,
- 1:52:40Speaker 9: that doesn't bode as well for Republicans.
- 1:52:42Speaker 10: But if he can put.
- 1:52:43Speaker 9: Himself on it like that because he's obviously not running
- 1:52:45Speaker 9: for reelection, that can make a big difference. I wanted
- 1:52:49Speaker 9: to finish on this here before we run out of time,
- 1:52:51Speaker 9: which I don't even know if I'll have time.
- 1:52:53Speaker 10: To really get into it.
- 1:52:54Speaker 9: But MAGA Incorporated has dropped $ 10 million in ad buys
- 1:52:58Speaker 9: in the Texas Senate race. It's going to go towards television, streaming,
- 1:53:02Speaker 9: and digital advertising. It's MAGA Incorporated's first expenditure in the
- 1:53:06Speaker 9: general election, signaling how important the Texas Senate race is,
- 1:53:10Speaker 9: and Trump's political operation wants to make sure that it's competitive,
- 1:53:14Speaker 9: because if they don't, we could end up with a
- 1:53:18Speaker 9: Democrat elected senator in Texas, and that would be terrible.
- 1:53:21Speaker 9: Half of the $ 10 million trounce will go towards positive
- 1:53:24Speaker 9: advertising boosting Ken Paxton, an ally of President Trump, while
- 1:53:27Speaker 9: the other half will go towards negative messaging against the
- 1:53:30Speaker 9: Democrat James Tallarico. Tallarico's been running his ads for a while.
- 1:53:35Speaker 9: He seems to have peaked, so it may be just
- 1:53:38Speaker 9: the right timing for.
- 1:53:39Speaker 10: Ken Paxton to get this race and get things underway.
- 1:53:42Speaker 10: All right, gang, be safe. If you're driving out there,
- 1:53:44Speaker 10: watch out for the weather. We'll see you tomorrow.
