We had a power outage at the radio station in the 1:59 1 minute, 59 seconds middle of the commercial break. Scared the snot out of all of us here, but we Yep. 2:04 2 minutes, 4 seconds scared us to death. But hey, everything's back up and going. We're all good. And Um, your nose, you're ready to go, Drake. Exactly, Mr. York. 2:13 2 minutes, 13 seconds Yeah. 2:14 2 minutes, 14 seconds Fire alarms were ringing. We were trying to get codes turned in. It went out. Something popped really big. 2:20 2 minutes, 20 seconds Something did pop. But, but it's weird cuz there's And uh, you know, Mr. York, you can attest to this as well. You're in Colia. There's no storm going on 2:26 2 minutes, 26 seconds right now. So, I mean, I don't know what So, I don't know what I think. Somebody maybe hit a transformer or a pole or something, but it was it was shortlived, but it caused a lot of chaos. That's for sure. 2:37 2 minutes, 37 seconds It did. But uh we we're so thankful to uh Ann Klene. Uh she does so much for our stations. She is amazing and we're 2:44 2 minutes, 44 seconds thankful to her. But we are back and I'm going to reintroduce the players. Uh favorite son, native son of Columbia, 1977 graduate of Columbia 2:52 2 minutes, 52 seconds Central High School. Dude number two, Ron Hart. Good morning, Ron. Morning. Dude number one, Mr. Jim. Republican in the Republican party. Either I'm libertarian, so no big deal. 3:00 3 minutes I know uh he probably disagrees with some of the policies and that's what we do. We're not like you guys, Mr. York. 3:05 3 minutes, 5 seconds We don't stand up. Oh, you don't disagree. Can I finish? Can I finish the sentence? 3:08 3 minutes, 8 seconds You don't disagree with anything. Don't laugh. Shut up for one second. 3:13 3 minutes, 13 seconds Let me let me finishing and then we'll we'll get to that. 3:16 3 minutes, 16 seconds Well, why don't you cut his mic? You asked a question and he talks over me. 3:19 3 minutes, 19 seconds I'm not going I'll get off the show. I'm just tired of his He lies. I'm tired of you lying. I'm tired of you lying. 3:25 3 minutes, 25 seconds Lying ear. No, you lied earlier. You said Alberta he was not a MS-13 gang me. There's no evidence. And you read from some rightwing doctor. 3:34 3 minutes, 34 seconds He was the immigration policy center descent. So you just lie all the time. I I don't even have EOJ lies. What? Jeb Jes. 3:42 3 minutes, 42 seconds What was the movie? EOJ. 3:44 3 minutes, 44 seconds What was that movie? What was that movie line? Bring me the head of Alberta Garcia. Whatever the name of that is. 3:49 3 minutes, 49 seconds Every time I hear that guy's name, I think of that movie. 3:52 3 minutes, 52 seconds I'm sorry, Drake. Excuse Excuse my interruption. That's all right, y'all. 3:55 3 minutes, 55 seconds Um, uh, son of Ron Hart and host of In the Middle of It, Jeb Hart. Good morning, Jeb. 4:02 4 minutes, 2 seconds Good morning, y'all. and regular special guest dude Debbie Matthews. Good morning, Debbie. 4:05 4 minutes, 5 seconds Good morning, fine friends. I love that everybody's awake and blood is flowing. 4:09 4 minutes, 9 seconds That's good. It's exciting. It is exciting. So, where were we talking about? 4:14 4 minutes, 14 seconds Back back to Ron. He's saying that Tucker Carlson is a libertarian. How is he a libertarian if he says he's leaving the Republican party? 4:23 4 minutes, 23 seconds Well, he is. Do you understand what that means? Yeah. 4:25 4 minutes, 25 seconds I feel like he doesn't understand there other parties other than the Republic. You got Democrat, Democrat, Socialist. 4:30 4 minutes, 30 seconds Did did Mandami leave the Democrat party become a Democrat socialist? No. But he's the Democrat. No. Oh, no. 4:36 4 minutes, 36 seconds No. So, you can disagree. We have the ability within our party to disagree with issues and go different directions. 4:41 4 minutes, 41 seconds You guys are limmings. You got to vote the same way on everything. There's what what original differentiating thought have you ever had in Democrat party last 5 years? What split have y'all had? 4:52 4 minutes, 52 seconds That's been all kind of ideology. Like what? 4:56 4 minutes, 56 seconds You know the ideology that name predicts what's going on in housing. You 5:05 5 minutes, 5 seconds know, finally we got in housing is y'all y'all y'all's existential debate you've had. 5:10 5 minutes, 10 seconds You know, the Democratic party, you don't have a single debate. You are mindless limmings who do what you're told. 5:16 5 minutes, 16 seconds What's going on in housing might be the most general statement in human history. That's all he has. 5:22 5 minutes, 22 seconds I mean, you know, I mean, there's the health and welfare. The Obamacare was a big issue. You know, a lot of people support that. It used to be that the 5:29 5 minutes, 29 seconds Democratic Party. It used to be that the Democratic Party had a conservative wing where it was pro-life. It was pro- 5:38 5 minutes, 38 seconds family. It was a conservative wing. They believed in borders. I mean, actually, that was the moderate Democrat. 5:44 5 minutes, 44 seconds Believe in that, Debbie. There's still some people. We've got a big tent. There's still some people right. 5:50 5 minutes, 50 seconds No, no, Jim. Y'all talk about y'all talk. 5:54 5 minutes, 54 seconds Y'all talk about diversity, but by golly, anything that comes out of your mouth better be exactly the same words as everybody else. You want mono 6:02 6 minutes, 2 seconds thought. You don't want anybody outside the lines of what you want as a party. 6:07 6 minutes, 7 seconds There is no conversation. There is no deviation. And you keep talking about diversity. There is no diversity of thought in the Democrat. 6:14 6 minutes, 14 seconds Y'all don't have any in the Republican party. 6:16 6 minutes, 16 seconds Are you kidding me? We're fighting all the time. You might have one or one or two lemons that stick out and that's about it. One or two. 6:24 6 minutes, 24 seconds You really started you started this entire segment by discussing the infighting in and pol political and policy differences within the republic. 6:32 6 minutes, 32 seconds That was the jumping off point from this. 6:34 6 minutes, 34 seconds That's how we got here. And then you're claiming that that doesn't exist when you're the one who opened the proceedings. It doesn't make logical only the only disagreement y'all had is 6:44 6 minutes, 44 seconds in the last couple of weeks. Tillis has led a a barrage of criticism. Oh my gosh. Against the against the uh against 6:52 6 minutes, 52 seconds the administration and a couple of other senators have joined in. Ted Cruz. Oh my gosh. No. 6:58 6 minutes, 58 seconds You know, especially about this Iran issue. That's the only disagreement I've seen. I'm coming. I've been on this years. 7:05 7 minutes, 5 seconds I've been on this station discussing how poorly I thought Pam Bondi handled the Epstein release stuff. the saying it's on my desk, handing it out to 7:13 7 minutes, 13 seconds influencers, the, you know, promising, overpromising, undering deliver. I thought it was terribly handled. I made that very clear. And I think that the 7:21 7 minutes, 21 seconds way it's been done thus far is still not great. I'm happy to say it. Like there, it's okay to have a disagreement with it and point out things that you want to get better. You don't just ride in the 7:29 7 minutes, 29 seconds back of the car and hope the people driving know where they're going if you see they took a wrong turn. You need to be like we're arbit 7:38 7 minutes, 38 seconds was listening to a guru the whole time she was in in administration. 7:42 7 minutes, 42 seconds Tulsi Tulsi Gabbert is probably one of the greatest finest public servants that has ever been and she's releasing a lot of things on 7:49 7 minutes, 49 seconds the vaccine and on Fouchy on all sorts of stuff and nobody's talking about it. 7:54 7 minutes, 54 seconds That's my biggest problem. I don't care what news source it is left or right nobody's talking about it. We have had criminal activity in this country and 8:02 8 minutes, 2 seconds we're all just turning our heads because Yeah, we turn our heads right now. Look at all the criminal activity that the Trump administration's engaging in. 8:10 8 minutes, 10 seconds Jared Kushner. 8:13 8 minutes, 13 seconds Jared Kushner is is making You're so dumb you can't even say his name. Jared Kushner. 8:20 8 minutes, 20 seconds I think the Albian TB outside one more time. 8:24 8 minutes, 24 seconds Albanians are about to know who I'm talking about. Well, you know, you're you're criminal activ. 8:32 8 minutes, 32 seconds Can I say that? That's all right. What's his last name? 8:35 8 minutes, 35 seconds I ain't worried about you. You know who I'm talking about. 8:37 8 minutes, 37 seconds Yeah. Well, so a guy So, a guy who is already a billionaire is making money 8:45 8 minutes, 45 seconds for the the goods and services that he has been doing for his whole life. 8:52 8 minutes, 52 seconds His whole life. He hadn't been an investor his whole life. He's been in in in in in shabby homes uh uh trying to steal money from the poor. 9:03 9 minutes, 3 seconds Even more money from the poor. 9:05 9 minutes, 5 seconds I think he lived at what six six Park Avenue. I mean I I don't think he's come I mean his housing project was shambles. He 9:13 9 minutes, 13 seconds wouldn't fix it. He got all kind of citations. 9:15 9 minutes, 15 seconds So you think that he lived in on Park Avenue because he had a single housing project? 9:22 9 minutes, 22 seconds No, I didn't say he had a single. He probably used the section 800 and wouldn't fix them. 9:29 9 minutes, 29 seconds Okay. It's it's very difficult to have a conversation at scale like this when the lack of nuance understanding about how any of this actually works is lost. So 9:36 9 minutes, 36 seconds you're arguing about the wrong thing. So it becomes frustrating from the other side because I'm trying to have the conversation but it goes so far over that we're talking about something 9:45 9 minutes, 45 seconds completely different. It's the you know don't argue with fools. They'll drag you down their level and beat you with experience. I don't got anywhere to go 9:52 9 minutes, 52 seconds cuz you're discussing the section 8 tax house credit as part of a portfolio and how that it's not 9:59 9 minutes, 59 seconds section 8 section 8 junk housing that he allowed his residents to live in and wouldn't fix them. Jared Jared 10:07 10 minutes, 7 seconds they have like I think he has like 40,000 apartment units. Yeah, there'll be a complaint. Okay, there's going to be a complaint and it's his dad's 10:15 10 minutes, 15 seconds business for the most part. Uh and and so yeah, that it's like being in in the NBA, not having to foul your whole life 10:23 10 minutes, 23 seconds in in a 20-year career in the NBA. It just doesn't happen. So someone's going to complain that it's not good enough. 10:28 10 minutes, 28 seconds Usually mooches that are in section 8, the biggest complainers in the world anyway. 10:32 10 minutes, 32 seconds The government covers a lot of that as part of the percentage of the upkeep for that sort of stuff. So is Jared a moocher? Is Jared a moocher? 10:40 10 minutes, 40 seconds Since he's got a section, I don't funy funnly understand what I just said. the the tenants or the moochers are getting free government stuff and they complain that it's not 10:47 10 minutes, 47 seconds good enough. I mean, it's like looking a gift horse in the mouth. It ain't going to be great if you're poor enough to live in section a hand. We're trying to do you solid, right? And if if there's 10:56 10 minutes, 56 seconds if there the leaking faucet, I mean, this is not the Hilton. I mean, this is there needs to be some consequences. It should be good, livable, but it's not 11:04 11 minutes, 4 seconds going to be really nice until you get you get your own. 11:07 11 minutes, 7 seconds Why not? Why can't it be nice, Ron? Why do we have to Why do we have to fund millionaires? section to have people. I 11:15 11 minutes, 15 seconds did. I had a section 8 house and I had a good tenant and I took care of the house. I had one. Well, you're an amazing one. 11:22 11 minutes, 22 seconds Based on your narrative, you're an amazing person. 11:25 11 minutes, 25 seconds Jim Jim, explain me how explain to me how section 8 housing works. If you own a property, is there rent discounted and the rest is 11:33 11 minutes, 33 seconds subsidized by the government? Is that how it works? 11:36 11 minutes, 36 seconds Yeah. Okay. So, did you get do fair market value for the rent of the house? 11:41 11 minutes, 41 seconds And what's the what's the percentage that the section 8 housing person pays? I I've never understood that. It's a small it's a smaller percentage. 11:49 11 minutes, 49 seconds It helps people have affordable housing that can't that have but the government but the government makes income based but the but the government makes sure that you as the landlord is whole. 12:00 12 minutes That you could have rented to somebody that could have afforded fair market value but you rent. Why don't you do it anymore, Mr. Yart? 12:06 12 minutes, 6 seconds Which is such a good deal. Why don't you do it anymore? 12:07 12 minutes, 7 seconds Because it because it doesn't belong to me anymore. 12:10 12 minutes, 10 seconds What happened? He sold it. I lost to my daughter. Oh. Oh, okay. 12:15 12 minutes, 15 seconds Well, I mean there in addition to that, there's tax credits that come uh from government ownership of that. But the reason it can't be crazy nice is a multitude of reasons. 12:25 12 minutes, 25 seconds One being that a portion of the upkeep is, you know, ran by the government and a lot of the large scale ones. Yours was a single family home that you put to 12:33 12 minutes, 33 seconds that if I'm not mistaken. In a lot of the section 8 housing that is, you know, multi-story, multi-door built with, you 12:40 12 minutes, 40 seconds know, a 100 units or something like that, the government has a role in the maintenance upkeep, which as we know, they don't do a great awesome job all the time. 12:48 12 minutes, 48 seconds Here's the point. Here's the point you all are trying to make. Because people live in section 8 housing, they deserve to be living in what is less than 12:58 12 minutes, 58 seconds satisfactory conditions. They are human beings, too. says fat. Those are your words to say it's not going to be the Hilton if they got a dripping faucet. 13:06 13 minutes, 6 seconds That dripping faucet needs to be repaired. 13:10 13 minutes, 10 seconds Just like when Del went up there on at to the well, he he made an observation that was very profound. He said, you 13:18 13 minutes, 18 seconds know, the people who are coming up to the well aren't riding in raggedy cars. 13:23 13 minutes, 23 seconds They have great cars. I said, that's the whole point. They need a good car to get to work. They just can't afford to buy 13:31 13 minutes, 31 seconds groceries. And people that live in in in they don't know that government housing deserves to have a decent place free of insects, rodents, and all that stuff working. 13:43 13 minutes, 43 seconds You want to call the constitution that they deserve that, Mr. York? We're trying to do our best. 13:46 13 minutes, 46 seconds We are a social construct in this country. We are a social construct. We band together to try to protect each 13:53 13 minutes, 53 seconds other. We don't try to beat other people down. The safety net, the safety net in America has become a safety hammock. 14:00 14 minutes Some people are in generationally in section 8 housing. They shouldn't be. 14:04 14 minutes, 4 seconds They need there's plenty of jobs out there. They need to go get a job, get their own house, and they can be responsible for their own house. 14:09 14 minutes, 9 seconds So, Jim, would you want to be one of those people for for a month run? Would you like to live in one of those places? 14:15 14 minutes, 15 seconds I would get a job personally. I would go down. 14:17 14 minutes, 17 seconds No. Would you just like to live and experience? 14:19 14 minutes, 19 seconds Can someone else talk for a second? You about done? Let Let us know if you're done. 14:24 14 minutes, 24 seconds I would not, you know, I I was down there. I would do everything I could do to get a job. I'd go to Home Depot. I'd go to uh Walmart. I would get a job. 14:31 14 minutes, 31 seconds That's just my nature. And a lot of those people your mindset about what they deserve. You got I'm thinking they deserve this. 14:38 14 minutes, 38 seconds They deserve food stamps. They deserve this. They deserve if you start throwing everything at them. Why? Why work? There's no incentive to work. 14:45 14 minutes, 45 seconds A lot of the people are working. Most people are working without help. You're eliminating health conditions. 14:52 14 minutes, 52 seconds I have a question. Jim, when you owned a section 8 house, you were technically the landlord, and if 80% of it was subsidized by the government, it was 15:00 15 minutes still up to you as the landlord to make the fixes. Correct. Of course. Okay. 15:05 15 minutes, 5 seconds I provided I provided the the welfare for that home. Okay. 15:10 15 minutes, 10 seconds And you know, I don't know if it was a 80 20% match. I don't remember what it was. 15:14 15 minutes, 14 seconds But you made money, right? You were making money capitalist. 15:16 15 minutes, 16 seconds I got a fair market value for renting a house. 15:19 15 minutes, 19 seconds Oh my goodness. So, the people that the people that are getting the only 20% in the discounted section 8 housing, are 15:27 15 minutes, 27 seconds they choosing to spend more money on a good car instead of just a reasonable car and and and that they can't buy 15:35 15 minutes, 35 seconds food? Is that what y'all at the Well, so the thing is is that if you have a discounted uh section 8 house, 15:43 15 minutes, 43 seconds that means that you have more money to spend on food and incidentals and things like that. And and if right now people 15:50 15 minutes, 50 seconds are paying 68 $1,000 a month on a car note. Okay. Is based on income, Debbie. The jump income. 15:58 15 minutes, 58 seconds The jump you made about the well saying, "Oh, they have nice cars because they have to get to work. They have to You can buy a 99 Corolla and that thing's 16:07 16 minutes, 7 seconds going to outlive all of us. If you want a reliable car, you don't need a new BMW or Mercedes to get to work from section 8. That is a vanity version. That's 16:16 16 minutes, 16 seconds actually the counterpoint that you're trying to make. If it was I'm just saying I was just saying that Delk expected people to be arriving in 16:24 16 minutes, 24 seconds dilapidated transportation and he and they spent the money. 16:28 16 minutes, 28 seconds I don't know if they were riding in Mercedes. I don't know if they were riding in Taho. I just know they had decent cars to get to the well to pick up a box of food. 16:39 16 minutes, 39 seconds How much the well last year last couple years, Mr. York? 16:42 16 minutes, 42 seconds All right, y'all. Let's take a quick break. We'll be right back. 24:01 24 minutes, 1 second All right, welcome back to our third and final segment of Three Dudes with a View. I'm your host for today, Drake Pew, substituting for Delt Kennedy. 24:10 24 minutes, 10 seconds We're on a little bit of a different schedule today since that power outage, but we're doing fine. 24:15 24 minutes, 15 seconds Um, reintroduce the players really quick. Uh, dude number two, favorite son, native son of Columbia, Ron Hart. Good morning, Ron. 24:24 24 minutes, 24 seconds Ron. Yeah, I'm here. That was my fault. I'm sorry. Yeah, I'm here. Yeah. 24:28 24 minutes, 28 seconds Dude number one, Mr. Jim York. Good morning, Mr. York. 24:31 24 minutes, 31 seconds Good morning, Drake. Good morning, everybody. 24:33 24 minutes, 33 seconds Good morning. Uh, son of Ron Hart and host of In the Middle of It, Jeb Hart. Good morning, Jeb. Good morning, y'all. 24:40 24 minutes, 40 seconds And regular special guest dude, Debbie Matthews. Good morning, Debbie. 24:42 24 minutes, 42 seconds Good morning. Good morning. Aren't y'all I mean, y'all probably talked about this this week and I talked about it on my show last weekend, but I'm just so thrilled to have the World Cup here. 24:52 24 minutes, 52 seconds Oh, yeah. 24:52 24 minutes, 52 seconds I you know, I worked in Europe for a while, set up the European office for US Air many, many years ago, but I I got to be in Europe while a World Cup was going 25:01 25 minutes, 1 second on with somebody that was going to win the World Cup that year. I think Germany did really well, but man, there's a fever to it. There's a spirit to it. 25:09 25 minutes, 9 seconds It's just one of the most awesome things ever. And I'm really proud that they're here in the United States and having fun. 25:16 25 minutes, 16 seconds Who's leading the winning right now? 25:19 25 minutes, 19 seconds Well, it's well, right now the US won their group, but it's set up in uh so there's a group stage. Now, if you you win your group, you're on the top two go 25:27 25 minutes, 27 seconds forward. And in this new format, the there's eight third place teams that get to move forward based on a very confusing metric as to who they get to play to go into the next knockout round. 25:39 25 minutes, 39 seconds So right now everybody there's four groups in the four teams in a group and each one plays each other once and the 25:46 25 minutes, 46 seconds team with the most points at the end wins and then if they're tied it goes to gold differential. 25:51 25 minutes, 51 seconds Yeah. The USA won two two games in a row which is rare. Um I think since 19 what 20 30 1930 1930s they won the US won two games 25:59 25 minutes, 59 seconds their first two games. So um there the upside of the open border policy of Biden. Our soccer teams are better. 26:05 26 minutes, 5 seconds Well, most of our players have been playing in Europe on those professional teams there. But what's funny is most Americans don't realize how good the 26:12 26 minutes, 12 seconds American team is this year and that we're actually competitive. They're just like, "Oh." And well, I mean, and for people who followed it, there's a lot of concerns 26:20 26 minutes, 20 seconds going up with the early exit in the Gold Cup and a few other things. Mario Puchino's lineup seemed pretty confusing, but there was always a 26:28 26 minutes, 28 seconds thought that they were trying to hide a bunch of stuff until the World Cup came along. 26:31 26 minutes, 31 seconds Yeah. And you think that's true? I can tell you that they certainly look absolutely different. They don't look 26:39 26 minutes, 39 seconds anything like they did in any of the friendlies. They don't look and their formation's different. The way they're playing is different. And they did all of this with only one half with 26:47 26 minutes, 47 seconds Christian Pulisich um playing. So, our best and most important player on the wing only played for three minutes of this World Cup so far. 26:56 26 minutes, 56 seconds Well, I love that. You know, there wasn't a lot of PR. I mean, there was PR within the soccer world, etc., But there was not a whole lot of really huge PR. 27:05 27 minutes, 5 seconds And then all of a sudden these people from around the world were not just dropped in LA or New York, whatever. 27:11 27 minutes, 11 seconds They were dropped in middle America on a place they would probably would have never, you know, chosen to fly into to do this. And they're all sort of 27:19 27 minutes, 19 seconds standing there freeze frozen going, "This is nothing like I have been told the United States is. 27:27 27 minutes, 27 seconds The people here are the friendliest people in the world." Well, there was one guy that said, "I have been in five, six different countries in my life." And 27:34 27 minutes, 34 seconds he said, "It never fails that I will run into an American. If if I'm ever in trouble or I somebody's talking to me or 27:42 27 minutes, 42 seconds friendly with me, it is an American." And that was like, man, that's so awesome that people are getting to see us and the kindness of us, you know, 27:52 27 minutes, 52 seconds but that's also in other countries, too, Debbie. visit foreign countries and I've had had no problem whatsoever. You know, 27:59 27 minutes, 59 seconds I've been to China. I've been to Australia. I've been I have too. 28:04 28 minutes, 4 seconds They've always been friendly and accommodating. You ever been to Paris? 28:08 28 minutes, 8 seconds Yeah, we we Yeah, I've been to Paris several times. 28:11 28 minutes, 11 seconds Well, they're not friendly, Jim, in Paris. Relatively hostile and rude. 28:16 28 minutes, 16 seconds I've been to Paris a couple of times and you know, if we stop talking about stop eating French fries and stuff like that, maybe that'll change. But French fries weren't. 28:24 28 minutes, 24 seconds But yes, Japan is is is based in Nashville, I think. And they have the base in Nashville. So they enjoyed their 28:31 28 minutes, 31 seconds they enjoyed their surroundings here in the country western area. 28:35 28 minutes, 35 seconds And and what what it's like peanut butter and jelly that the Scottish team went to Boston, which is basically the ancestors of each other, and fell in 28:42 28 minutes, 42 seconds love. I mean, this is that just makes me so happy, you know? It just makes me Algeria and Lawrence, Kansas. 28:49 28 minutes, 49 seconds Yes. So I guess ICE just laid off of them because all these teams were in the country, huh? 28:54 28 minutes, 54 seconds They have visas. They're allowed to be here. 28:56 28 minutes, 56 seconds Yeah.
