- 0:18Speaker 2: Now let's get this party started.
- 0:21Speaker 3: You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
- 0:26Speaker 2: It's Stu Gotts and Company. Sal Licata, you're hanging out
- 0:29Speaker 2: with the boys today, and I can't wait to get going.
- 0:33Speaker 2: After yesterday, we tried to get it going, give us
- 0:35Speaker 2: some opinion there. The connection wasn't working.
- 0:37Speaker 3: We're back.
- 0:38Speaker 2: No, Stu, we're back. You can hear me right, right?
- 0:41Speaker 2: We're good to go?
- 0:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I can hear you. You sound great. You are great.
- 0:44Speaker 3: You texted me yesterday after the show.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Bleeping embarrassment. I knew you were going to take it
- 0:50Speaker 1: home with you. I told you not to take.
- 0:51Speaker 3: It home with you. I'm not mad at you. Taylor is.
- 0:54Speaker 1: We'll play what happened after you left the show yesterday
- 0:58Speaker 1: for you in just a minute, but everything went to hell.
- 1:01Speaker 2: So thank you. Well, we appreciate you having me back
- 1:04Speaker 2: because I wasn't so sure. And I do want to say, Stu,
- 1:06Speaker 2: I'd be remiss if I didn't bring this up to
- 1:08Speaker 2: start the show, not to be a downer here, but
- 1:09Speaker 2: it is the 25th anniversary of September 11th and the
- 1:13Speaker 2: senseless attacks. Also, I am broadcasting live from the SMY studios,
- 1:17Speaker 2: which is at Four World Trade Center. So, you know,
- 1:20Speaker 2: an hour before the show, I'm looking outside and I
- 1:22Speaker 2: could see where the towers were and just trying to
- 1:25Speaker 2: take it in. It's just it's hard to fathom what
- 1:28Speaker 2: went on that day, hard to comprehend the thought process
- 1:31Speaker 2: of the people that ran up that building or those
- 1:34Speaker 2: buildings and tried to save lives. And obviously we know
- 1:36Speaker 2: what happened. And then sports eventually brought us back to
- 1:39Speaker 2: some normalcy, you know, Piazza Home Run, all that stuff.
- 1:42Speaker 2: But I just want to make sure that people are
- 1:43Speaker 2: aware that we will never forget and honor and think
- 1:47Speaker 2: of those that lost their lives on that senseless day.
- 1:50Speaker 1: It's a good job by you, Sal. I lost a
- 1:53Speaker 1: friend that day, John Salerno. It's a tough day, a
- 1:56Speaker 1: difficult day. Every year I'm thinking about it. This year
- 1:59Speaker 1: obviously resonates more for a lot of people. And there
- 2:02Speaker 1: are still people dealing, of course, and they'll be dealing
- 2:06Speaker 1: with it for the rest of their life, the aftermath
- 2:08Speaker 1: of 9-11. Whether it was first responders, whether it's, you know,
- 2:12Speaker 1: families of the victims, it is still something that is
- 2:16Speaker 1: haunting us until this day.
- 2:17Speaker 3: It's crazy.
- 2:18Speaker 2: 25 years. Hard to believe. But we never forget. And also,
- 2:22Speaker 2: we know that sports played a part in healing, like
- 2:24Speaker 2: we said, with the country. And football in full-fledged here now.
- 2:27Speaker 2: You get two games under our belt week one. My
- 2:30Speaker 2: biggest issue, Stu, I love football. God bless football.
- 2:33Speaker 3: All that stuff.
- 2:34Speaker 2: I love it. But football now. It's like the week one,
- 2:39Speaker 2: week two, even week three, it's like preseason. And yet
- 2:42Speaker 2: we get this overreaction. Like now the Rams stink. The
- 2:45Speaker 2: team that everybody had consensus, oh, nobody's beating the Rams.
- 2:48Speaker 3: Look at them.
- 2:48Speaker 2: They're loaded, the super team. Now they're left for dead
- 2:51Speaker 2: at the hands of the Niners because they lost week
- 2:53Speaker 2: one in Australia. The overreaction is nuts.
- 2:56Speaker 3: Yeah, but I love the overreaction.
- 2:58Speaker 1: In fact, I was thinking today that Aaron Donald should
- 3:01Speaker 1: demand a trade to the 49ers. I mean– How about that?
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's what we do, Sal. There's 17 of these things.
- 3:08Speaker 1: They're so precious. They mean so much to so many people.
- 3:12Speaker 1: It's why it's our most popular sport that I'm okay
- 3:15Speaker 1: after a single game in Melbourne, Australia.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Weird pronunciation. I am okay.
- 3:21Speaker 1: That people feel like the Rams are overrated and maybe saying, hey,
- 3:24Speaker 1: you know what? I didn't know the Niners are going
- 3:25Speaker 1: to be that good. You know, I'm all right with that.
- 3:28Speaker 2: OK, I love reacting to week one. And obviously the
- 3:31Speaker 2: games mean something. But, you know, the way that preseason
- 3:36Speaker 2: is basically non-existent now.
- 3:37Speaker 3: You can see it.
- 3:38Speaker 2: I mean, I thought McCaffrey was hurt last night.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Where is he?
- 3:41Speaker 2: They're going with the backup running back. Where is he?
- 3:43Speaker 2: It's because it's essentially a preseason game. So the teams themselves,
- 3:48Speaker 2: we as broadcasters or whatever you want to call us,
- 3:51Speaker 2: sports talk guys, talking heads. We're trying to come up
- 3:54Speaker 2: with opinions and give reaction and all this stuff. And
- 3:56Speaker 2: we could say, well, it doesn't feel, because of the
- 4:00Speaker 2: way the preseason used to be compared to where it
- 4:02Speaker 2: is now, it doesn't feel like they've got to take
- 4:04Speaker 2: time to get going. We don't know what these teams are.
- 4:06Speaker 2: But for them themselves to be figuring it out early on,
- 4:10Speaker 2: that is telling. I do think that there is an
- 4:12Speaker 2: evaluation that takes place, even though it means something and
- 4:15Speaker 2: we all love it. The first three or four weeks
- 4:17Speaker 2: is kind of evaluating.
- 4:19Speaker 4: That flight to Australia looked like it aged Matthew Stafford
- 4:22Speaker 4: a decade.
- 4:24Speaker 3: I know you don't want the hot takes right now.
- 4:27Speaker 4: If you told Sean McVay he could replace Matthew Stafford
- 4:30Speaker 4: today with Josh Allen, but he had to walk to Buffalo,
- 4:33Speaker 4: how fast do you guys think he would get there?
- 4:35Speaker 1: You're talking about Josh Allen.
- 4:38Speaker 2: What about Brock Purdy or Sam Darnold?
- 4:41Speaker 3: Oh, he'd do that today.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I mean, I'm telling you right now, I know you
- 4:44Speaker 1: hate the overreaction, but if Sean McVay, if he was
- 4:46Speaker 1: being honest, okay, in an honest moment— And they asked him, hey,
- 4:50Speaker 1: you could have Purdy the rest of the way or
- 4:52Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford the rest of the way.
- 4:54Speaker 3: He would say Brock Purdy or he'd be lying.
- 4:57Speaker 2: Okay.
- 4:57Speaker 3: How about that?
- 4:58Speaker 2: You guys are out on the Rams already and Stafford already?
- 5:01Speaker 5: Yep.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 5:03Speaker 2: I can't go there. I think the Niners are good,
- 5:07Speaker 2: but I can't say. I can't say I'm going to be.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Just same thing, Drake May. Like, Drake May gets ripped
- 5:11Speaker 2: to shreds. He played a bad game. Hey, guess what?
- 5:13Speaker 2: It happens. You'd rather have it happen in week one
- 5:16Speaker 2: than week 16 or 17. And now it's the same thing. Oh, Rams,
- 5:20Speaker 2: everybody loved them. Miles Garrett stinks. I was not aware
- 5:23Speaker 2: of the knee injury, by the way. He was an MIA,
- 5:25Speaker 2: and now he's using the knee injury as an excuse.
- 5:27Speaker 2: I hate that. Yes. I think both teams that lost
- 5:31Speaker 2: so far, whether it be the Patriots or the Rams,
- 5:34Speaker 2: still are going to be very, very good this year.
- 5:38Speaker 1: But Sal, don't you want like this is the NFL
- 5:41Speaker 1: is built for sports fans.
- 5:43Speaker 3: It's built for people like me and you.
- 5:45Speaker 1: OK, you can't break down 162 baseball games because most
- 5:47Speaker 1: of those baseball games. are fairly meaningless in the grand
- 5:53Speaker 1: scheme of things. You can't do it in the NBA
- 5:55Speaker 1: with 82 NBA games. You just can't do it, and
- 5:58Speaker 1: you're certainly not going to do it in hockey. Don't
- 6:00Speaker 1: you want fans to be so passionate about something, and
- 6:04Speaker 1: this is the sport they're passionate about, because there are
- 6:06Speaker 1: 17 games. They all mean so much. They are so precious. Again,
- 6:11Speaker 1: you're only playing 17. You need to win as many
- 6:13Speaker 1: as you can to get to the playoffs. And I
- 6:16Speaker 1: love that fans are irrational, but they're passionate about about
- 6:20Speaker 1: the NFL, meaning I have fired a Jets coach and
- 6:24Speaker 1: hired back that same Jet coach in a quarter. I
- 6:30Speaker 1: have gotten rid of my quarterback, and the next week
- 6:33Speaker 1: my quarterback is the greatest quarterback in the NFL.
- 6:36Speaker 3: I think that's what makes the league so magical. I
- 6:38Speaker 3: really do. I guess.
- 6:39Speaker 2: So then don't– the irrational– and look, fans are irrational.
- 6:43Speaker 2: Certainly I know that. I am one. But I'm trying
- 6:45Speaker 2: to remain level-headed, especially– with the NFL being what it
- 6:50Speaker 2: is in the early weeks. Like, I don't know. I mean, really,
- 6:53Speaker 2: nobody knows. But you could pick teams and think, oh,
- 6:55Speaker 2: this team's going to the Super Bowl or I love
- 6:57Speaker 2: this team in the division. I really need to watch
- 7:00Speaker 2: three weeks before I can say, okay, this is it.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Where I used to be able to do it, I felt,
- 7:04Speaker 2: at least, in preseason because you get a little bit
- 7:06Speaker 2: better feel. There's a great unknown. It's names on paper
- 7:09Speaker 2: that we haven't seen, literally have not seen. Name of
- 7:12Speaker 2: the stars who played in the preseason. It doesn't happen.
- 7:15Speaker 2: They barely play.
- 7:16Speaker 3: Right, it doesn't. Yeah, no, I understand.
- 7:18Speaker 2: That's my point. Look, obviously I love when fans react
- 7:22Speaker 2: to everything. I just, me personally, if I believe the
- 7:24Speaker 2: Rams are good or the Patriots are going to be good,
- 7:26Speaker 2: I don't think I'd be jumping off the bandwagon after
- 7:29Speaker 2: one game. And it's the first time that we've seen
- 7:31Speaker 2: them play all year long.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Mikey, how do you feel about Sal? Level-headed Sal, okay?
- 7:37Speaker 1: Not overreacting. Wanting to take three games before he formulates
- 7:41Speaker 1: any sort of NFL takes.
- 7:42Speaker 3: How do you feel about it?
- 7:44Speaker 2: Thank you, Sal.
- 7:45Speaker 3: I've missed you. I've been with these two hot take artists.
- 7:49Speaker 6: I've been trying to be the only level-headed person. They've
- 7:51Speaker 6: convinced me I'm crazy. And now you come in and
- 7:54Speaker 6: you spit all this logic.
- 7:56Speaker 3: And you know what? It's refreshing. Thank you.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Here's what I will say. Mikey, you guys are listening
- 8:02Speaker 2: to this on the radio. You can't see it on Zoom.
- 8:03Speaker 2: He's decked out in Jet stuff. Definitively, before I see
- 8:06Speaker 2: them play a game, the Jets are going to suck
- 8:07Speaker 2: this year. Like, that's going to happen.
- 8:09Speaker 3: He doesn't need to wait three weeks.
- 8:10Speaker 4: He knows.
- 8:11Speaker 3: Yes. We all know that one.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I told you that three years ago, they were going
- 8:16Speaker 2: to suck tomorrow.
- 8:19Speaker 1: By the way, your miles Garrett point is such a great,
- 8:21Speaker 1: great point because if he had three sacks, we'd be
- 8:25Speaker 1: hearing nothing today about him being injured. The idea that
- 8:28Speaker 1: he goes out there, goes to Melbourne, Australia. He's the
- 8:31Speaker 1: big off season signing. Everyone loves the Rams Rams of
- 8:34Speaker 1: the field. And he does nothing. I mean, zero gives
- 8:38Speaker 1: you absolutely nothing and comes out after the game and says, Hey,
- 8:42Speaker 1: I'm injured.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Do me a favor. Say it before the game or
- 8:45Speaker 3: don't say it at all. How about that?
- 8:47Speaker 2: Not once did I hear any, no, I could have
- 8:50Speaker 2: missed it, but the buildup to the season was Rams, Rams, Rams, Rams, Rams,
- 8:55Speaker 2: Donald Garrett, Donald Garrett. They're going to be the best
- 8:57Speaker 2: defense ever. Oh my God.
- 8:58Speaker 3: Look out.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Purdy's going to be scared for his life. He's going
- 9:00Speaker 2: to be murdered on the field on Wednesday, Tuesday, Is
- 9:03Speaker 2: it Melbourne? You say Melbourne. How do you say it?
- 9:07Speaker 1: Well, I thought it was Melbourne when we started today,
- 9:09Speaker 1: but it's Mel-bin, and that is courtesy of Noah Eagle.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Yeah, so the Australian pronunciation, Sal, is Mel-bin.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Mel-bin. Okay. Well, they thought Purdy was going to be
- 9:20Speaker 2: murdered in Mel-bin, and then all of a sudden after
- 9:22Speaker 2: the game, it's like, now my knee was a little
- 9:25Speaker 2: bit banged up. Not once did anybody report that ever
- 9:28Speaker 2: in the last several months.
- 9:30Speaker 3: Not once. Right. Yes, right.
- 9:32Speaker 1: So you have to do it on the front end.
- 9:33Speaker 1: You have to say, hey, I'm not 100%. Otherwise, I
- 9:36Speaker 1: don't believe you. You cannot put up a dud like
- 9:39Speaker 1: Miles Garrett put up in his first game and then
- 9:42Speaker 1: come out after the game and say, hey, I'm injured.
- 9:44Speaker 3: You're cranking up the excuse machine. Can't do it. Don't
- 9:47Speaker 3: do it. He did it. And he should be ashamed
- 9:49Speaker 3: of himself.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Sal, you mentioned people getting off the Rams and the
- 9:52Speaker 4: Patriots bandwagons right now. And I have this stat from
- 9:55Speaker 4: OptiStats that kind of highlights their underperforming. This is the
- 9:58Speaker 4: first time in NFL history that the top two finishers
- 10:01Speaker 4: in the MVP voting the previous season, each had a
- 10:04Speaker 4: team that scored 10 or fewer points in the season
- 10:07Speaker 4: opener with Drake May and Matthew Stafford. So It is
- 10:09Speaker 4: historical how bad these two played in a week one showing.
- 10:13Speaker 2: All right, so what does that mean? Does it mean
- 10:16Speaker 2: that Drake May stinks now? Explain that stat. I'm not
- 10:20Speaker 2: a stats guy, Taylor. You should know that. Explain what
- 10:22Speaker 2: those stats mean. And that's exactly my point. I love
- 10:25Speaker 2: that you said that. Ooh, big fancy AI stat machine
- 10:28Speaker 2: saying that Drake May and Stafford awful after where they
- 10:31Speaker 2: were a year ago. OK, so now are we to
- 10:33Speaker 2: think that those guys aren't going to be good? I'll
- 10:36Speaker 2: go the opposite. Week two, sign me up. Drake May,
- 10:38Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford, they're going to have monster games.
- 10:41Speaker 3: Yes.
- 10:42Speaker 4: Well, the problem with Drake May was this was Drake
- 10:44Speaker 4: May's chance to kind of silence the narrative that that
- 10:47Speaker 4: he was a schedule merchant when you're going on the
- 10:49Speaker 4: road to Seattle and. Against that defense, it was the
- 10:54Speaker 4: same story for Drake May, where the same questions you
- 10:57Speaker 4: have about Drake May after the Super Bowl, you still
- 11:00Speaker 4: have after week one.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Can I ask you guys what this stat machine looks like?
- 11:06Speaker 1: I mean, it's like the George Michael sports machine. It
- 11:10Speaker 1: just churns out stats.
- 11:12Speaker 3: That's a dated reference.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry if you were born anywhere within the last
- 11:15Speaker 1: 20 years, you'd have no idea what I'm talking about.
- 11:18Speaker 1: But once upon a time, there was a guy who
- 11:20Speaker 1: was doing it before SportsCenter and George Michaels was giving
- 11:22Speaker 1: you all the highlights and doing it with a robot.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Right, way ahead of his time with the AI. I
- 11:28Speaker 2: remember that, that sports machine. Okay, but what do those
- 11:32Speaker 2: stats mean, ultimately? It's great to— oh, what are you insinuating
- 11:36Speaker 2: when you bring up those stats? Or somebody who puts
- 11:38Speaker 2: that out there, are we— okay, Drake May's no good? Like,
- 11:41Speaker 2: is that where we're at? I think it's fair to
- 11:42Speaker 2: say the jury's still out, but then it goes to
- 11:44Speaker 2: the overreaction last year where it's like, I mean, certainly
- 11:47Speaker 2: New England fans are talking about, oh, who needs Tom Brady?
- 11:49Speaker 2: You got Drake May. I mean— It's going to be May.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Everybody was going nuts.
- 11:53Speaker 3: Drake May.
- 11:54Speaker 2: So there's got to be somewhere in between where maybe
- 11:57Speaker 2: he's not Tom Brady, but maybe also he doesn't suck
- 12:00Speaker 2: after one questionable game in which his receiver can't even
- 12:02Speaker 2: catch a ball. If he catches that ball, Dubs, the whole.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Game has changed.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yeah, but what the stat means is what we're seeing,
- 12:10Speaker 1: at least through the first two games here, is something
- 12:12Speaker 1: fairly unprecedented.
- 12:13Speaker 3: That's all the stat has got to say. This doesn't
- 12:16Speaker 3: normally happen. That's all.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Let me ask you, Stu. Don't you think that that
- 12:21Speaker 2: is a byproduct of where we're at with the preseason?
- 12:24Speaker 2: Back to my point about that before where— It's week one.
- 12:28Speaker 2: We love it to mean everything because there aren't that
- 12:31Speaker 2: many games, but there also is a little bit of
- 12:33Speaker 2: a learning curve and feeling it out. They literally have
- 12:35Speaker 2: not played full NFL games, real contact games. This is
- 12:39Speaker 2: the first one where they used to at least play
- 12:41Speaker 2: one in the preseason.
- 12:43Speaker 1: If you're asking me, do I think if the Rams
- 12:46Speaker 1: are going to be good, even while losing the first
- 12:49Speaker 1: game of the season and what I think of the Niners,
- 12:51Speaker 1: I have the Rams now not making the playoffs.
- 12:53Speaker 3: The Niners are the favorites to make it to the
- 12:54Speaker 3: Super Bowl. How about that?
- 12:57Speaker 1: Look at us doing sports radio, fellas. This is exciting.
- 13:01Speaker 1: We're not playing sounds. We are talking sports.
- 13:04Speaker 2: You tried to teach me out of that way. And
- 13:06Speaker 2: I'm like, you know what? After we had talks, I'm like,
- 13:08Speaker 2: he's right. What are we doing here? Volpe stinks. Stafford stinks.
- 13:13Speaker 2: May stinks. And then next week, May is up MVP.
- 13:16Speaker 3: Come on.
- 13:19Speaker 1: I know, but I wanted you to drive the show today.
- 13:21Speaker 1: Because you got disconnected. You were very upset. You couldn't
- 13:24Speaker 1: get any takes off yesterday. Whatever takes you got off,
- 13:27Speaker 1: they sounded terrible. And so I wanted you to drive
- 13:30Speaker 1: the show so you could control the action today.
- 13:32Speaker 5: You know?
- 13:32Speaker 2: Okay. I have another take for you. The nonsense about
- 13:35Speaker 2: the Sean McVay. planning to go to Melbourne, I can't
- 13:41Speaker 2: even say it, Australia, planning to go to Australia just
- 13:44Speaker 2: two days ahead of time. I'm like, do you think
- 13:45Speaker 2: that that cost them the game? Or maybe just the
- 13:48Speaker 2: Rams were not as good as the 49ers on this
- 13:50Speaker 2: particular day. I don't think the sleeping habits or the
- 13:53Speaker 2: clock or the whatever, the travel, jet lag, so what
- 13:58Speaker 2: the Niners were there for two weeks, to me that
- 14:00Speaker 2: had nothing to do with it. Even with the 17-0
- 14:03Speaker 2: outscoring in the second half, I don't think that that
- 14:05Speaker 2: had anything to do with it.
- 14:07Speaker 1: It's interesting because a lot of people are kind of
- 14:09Speaker 1: pointing that out.
- 14:11Speaker 3: The Rams went to Europe last year, same strategy.
- 14:14Speaker 2: They flew in.
- 14:15Speaker 1: They hopped off the bird. They played the game. They
- 14:18Speaker 1: won the game, got back on the bird, and went home. Now,
- 14:21Speaker 1: Australia is a different animal, okay? You're going to Europe.
- 14:25Speaker 1: It's a six or seven. Well, I guess from L.A.
- 14:27Speaker 1: it's a bit further. But you're not going 22 hours
- 14:30Speaker 1: with a 38-year-old quarterback who can't just hop off a
- 14:34Speaker 1: plane after 22 hours, play a football game and get
- 14:37Speaker 1: back on a bird and go home. That was obvious
- 14:40Speaker 1: last night. So I don't know if the Rams did
- 14:42Speaker 1: it the right way, the wrong way. I just know
- 14:44Speaker 1: that people are going to point to it because San Francisco,
- 14:47Speaker 1: the team that got there a week to 10 days
- 14:49Speaker 1: in advance.
- 14:50Speaker 3: They looked very, very sharp. They did. They looked very good.
- 14:53Speaker 1: And so naturally, the next day, people are going to
- 14:55Speaker 1: point out, hey, the Rams didn't do it correctly and
- 14:57Speaker 1: the Rams didn't take this game seriously.
- 14:59Speaker 3: And I think that's what people are upset about.
- 15:01Speaker 4: By doing that, though, it feels like we're discrediting what
- 15:04Speaker 4: the 49ers did because I think that game could have
- 15:07Speaker 4: been played in any country, in any stadium, and you
- 15:10Speaker 4: were going to get the same result of the 49ers
- 15:12Speaker 4: just overwhelming L.A.
- 15:13Speaker 3: Well, hold on, Taylor. If that game's played in SoFi,
- 15:15Speaker 3: you think you're getting the same result?
- 15:17Speaker 2: Almost any stadium.
- 15:22Speaker 3: Got you.
- 15:24Speaker 2: I'm more so with Taylor on that, that I think
- 15:27Speaker 2: it is discrediting the Niners. Like, okay, so who do
- 15:30Speaker 2: we think is the worst team in the NFL or
- 15:31Speaker 2: going to be the worst team in the NFL? I'm
- 15:33Speaker 2: not just going to say the Jets. Who do we think? Miami?
- 15:37Speaker 3: The Browns, Cardinals, Dolphins.
- 15:40Speaker 2: If the Browns played the Rams or the Niners in Australia...
- 15:46Speaker 2: And the Browns got there two months before. And the
- 15:49Speaker 2: Rams showed up the day of the game. Like, the
- 15:53Speaker 2: Rams probably still would have beat them. I know that
- 15:54Speaker 2: anything could happen any given Sunday. But my point is
- 15:56Speaker 2: I don't think it's about– that's a weird– same thing
- 15:59Speaker 2: with the West Coast coming east. Like, come on. It's
- 16:02Speaker 2: a bunch of nonsense.
- 16:03Speaker 3: No, I understand that.
- 16:04Speaker 1: But how do you explain the Rams, who are so explosive,
- 16:07Speaker 1: who are so good, even without Aaron Donald playing that badly,
- 16:11Speaker 1: like that poorly?
- 16:12Speaker 3: They had the entire offseason to get ready for this game.
- 16:16Speaker 1: They sent Todd from accounting over to Australia to figure
- 16:19Speaker 1: out what's the right amount of time to spend in
- 16:21Speaker 1: Australia before you play a football game.
- 16:23Speaker 3: And Todd was wrong. So how do you explain it, Sal?
- 16:26Speaker 1: Because that team, I would guess, that's the worst game
- 16:30Speaker 1: that team is going to play this year.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I would say that it's honestly rust. I really think
- 16:36Speaker 2: that it's just first game, rust, good team. Now, we'll
- 16:39Speaker 2: learn about them eventually. Could this be a harbinger the
- 16:42Speaker 2: rest of the year? I mean, are the Rams— I mean,
- 16:45Speaker 2: maybe things that happen in week one are going to
- 16:46Speaker 2: be signs the rest of the way. I don't believe
- 16:49Speaker 2: that that's going to be the case, especially with a
- 16:50Speaker 2: team that's as well-coached as the Rams are and as
- 16:53Speaker 2: loaded as they are now. Could Stafford fall off the
- 16:55Speaker 2: cliff and be an older guy? That absolutely, I think,
- 16:57Speaker 2: could be a legitimate reason to— to doubt them but
- 17:00Speaker 2: for them playing as poorly as they did with the
- 17:02Speaker 2: weapons that they have i just look at it as
- 17:05Speaker 2: a they played a really good team who was maybe
- 17:07Speaker 2: just more ready at this particular moment and maybe the
- 17:10Speaker 2: rams are going to take a little time to get going.
- 17:12Speaker 1: By the way if you're a rams fan you hope
- 17:14Speaker 1: they didn't do it correctly you hope that matthew stafford
- 17:18Speaker 1: isn't just aging you hope that it was the plane
- 17:21Speaker 1: it was the 22 hours it was the fact they
- 17:23Speaker 1: didn't get there a week before because if stafford's gonna
- 17:25Speaker 1: look like that they don't have a shot what do
- 17:27Speaker 1: you got mikey.
- 17:29Speaker 6: Is Todd from accounting fired today?
- 17:32Speaker 2: He should be.
- 17:34Speaker 3: He should be. No, McVay should be. I mean, stop
- 17:38Speaker 3: sending Todd from accounting. How about you go and figure
- 17:41Speaker 3: it out?
- 17:42Speaker 6: Todd from accounting had one job to do, and that
- 17:45Speaker 6: was how long do we need to be in Australia
- 17:47Speaker 6: to beat the 49ers?
- 17:47Speaker 2: And he failed.
- 17:49Speaker 1: So you're saying Todd called McVay and said, hey, you
- 17:51Speaker 1: guys can hop on a bird, land, play football, get
- 17:54Speaker 1: back on the bird and go home. That was Todd's
- 17:56Speaker 1: report back to Les Snead and Sean.
- 18:00Speaker 3: McVay, yes?
- 18:02Speaker 2: That's exactly what happened. Then he's been fired, yes. They
- 18:05Speaker 2: should have used more AI. I mean, come on.
- 18:09Speaker 1: By the way, is anyone else worried about AI? I mean,
- 18:12Speaker 1: you hear all these reports. I'm watching the news last night.
- 18:14Speaker 1: It's like I'm living in a movie, for crying out loud,
- 18:17Speaker 1: where AI is going to kill everyone inside of a decade.
- 18:20Speaker 3: What are we doing?
- 18:22Speaker 2: ChatGPT says we shouldn't be worried.
- 18:24Speaker 3: Exactly.
- 18:27Speaker 2: I started reading some Twitter threads yesterday on that, and
- 18:30Speaker 2: I was like, I don't think this is going to
- 18:32Speaker 2: be good for my mental health. Let me stop this. So, yeah,
- 18:35Speaker 2: I'm scared. But realistically, are humans really dumb enough to
- 18:41Speaker 2: create something that would wipe us all off the face
- 18:43Speaker 2: of the earth?
- 18:44Speaker 3: Yes.
- 18:45Speaker 2: I'm wearing a Jets hat.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Yes. You guys are dumb enough. Especially if it's lining
- 18:48Speaker 3: their pockets.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Hey, I'm going to enjoy the next decade, and I
- 18:53Speaker 1: don't care what happens after that.
- 18:55Speaker 3: But for the next 10 years, man, I am living large. Oh,
- 19:00Speaker 3: my God.
- 19:01Speaker 2: The AI stuff. Yeah. Less AI, more reality. And more
- 19:05Speaker 2: real football in the preseason. Get us ready for week one.
- 19:08Speaker 2: Less overreacting as well.
- 19:10Speaker 3: All right.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Did we do enough takes there still? Am I okay
- 19:13Speaker 2: so far?
- 19:14Speaker 1: You're doing great. Never enough takes. I want to play
- 19:16Speaker 1: some sound from Taylor when we come back.
- 19:18Speaker 3: 877-99 on Fox.
- 19:19Speaker 1: That is 877-99 on Fox. Sal is in for the
- 19:23Speaker 1: entire show. We are thrilled about it.
- 19:24Speaker 3: We love him.
- 19:36Speaker 5: Fox Sports Radio is taking over YouTube and you can
- 19:40Speaker 5: be a part of it. Just go to YouTube and
- 19:41Speaker 5: search Fox Sports Radio. Hit that subscribe button and smash
- 19:44Speaker 5: that notification bell and catch all the videos from your
- 19:47Speaker 5: favorite shows.
- 19:48Speaker 3: Two pros and a cup of joe.
- 19:40Speaker 5: Hit that thumbs up icon and comment away.
- 20:07Speaker 2: Salicata hanging out with Stu Godson Company here on Fox
- 20:10Speaker 2: Sports Radio. It was supposed to be the second day
- 20:12Speaker 2: this week, but yesterday we had massive technical issues. So
- 20:18Speaker 2: I couldn't do the show, and that left Taylor, I guess,
- 20:22Speaker 2: to do some reads. What went on there, Stu? What happened?
- 20:24Speaker 1: Well, what happened was you couldn't get connected. We tried
- 20:27Speaker 1: it out for a segment. We decided to let you go.
- 20:30Speaker 1: You were upset about it, and then you forced me
- 20:32Speaker 1: and Taylor to work. And so everything fell apart from there, okay?
- 20:36Speaker 1: because I got to tell you, this feels like a
- 20:37Speaker 1: spa day today for me, man. I am sitting back.
- 20:41Speaker 1: I got, like, you know, my arms. They're wrapped around
- 20:44Speaker 1: the back of my head here. I'm just chilling out.
- 20:46Speaker 1: I'm wearing a towel because you're making this so easy
- 20:49Speaker 1: for us to do because we do three hours before
- 20:52Speaker 1: we even get here to 3 o'clock to do the
- 20:54Speaker 1: live show. And so yesterday... After you left, we weren't prepared,
- 20:59Speaker 1: as usual. And so everything fell apart. And this is
- 21:02Speaker 1: what happens when Sal Licata leaves the show. I throw
- 21:06Speaker 1: it to Taylor to do a live read.
- 21:08Speaker 3: And this ensues.
- 21:09Speaker 2: It's time to get your point. It's time to get your.
- 21:13Speaker 2: It can be tricky. You got to read that before
- 21:19Speaker 2: the show, Taylor.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Come on.
- 21:24Speaker 2: So damn much yesterday.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yes, we're talking in too many places. We really are.
- 21:28Speaker 1: We're talking way too much. All three of us, by
- 21:31Speaker 1: the way. Taylor, I don't think it is wildest dreams
- 21:33Speaker 1: ever imagined he'd be talking this much on national radio.
- 21:38Speaker 1: And this is probably why. He shouldn't be talking this
- 21:41Speaker 1: much on national radio.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Play it again.
- 21:43Speaker 4: It's time to get your point. It's time to get
- 21:46Speaker 4: your point. And all I had for him was, wreck it.
- 21:52Speaker 2: And meanwhile, before today's show, I was like, all right, Taylor,
- 21:55Speaker 2: send me whatever you need. You need me to do
- 21:56Speaker 2: the reads or whatever?
- 21:56Speaker 3: And they're like, no, no.
- 21:57Speaker 2: I'm good Taylor's gonna do the commercial reads I did
- 21:59Speaker 2: not know that there was a little snafu yesterday but
- 22:01Speaker 2: I would have gladly taken over the reads and I
- 22:04Speaker 2: have learned the hard way because there's been reads placed
- 22:06Speaker 2: in front of me on live radio like okay you
- 22:08Speaker 2: gotta read this now and I'm reading it as we
- 22:10Speaker 2: go and I have no idea what some of these
- 22:11Speaker 2: words are so you gotta read these things many times
- 22:14Speaker 2: over before you go but Taylor wanted the duties today
- 22:16Speaker 2: let's see let's see.
- 22:17Speaker 1: If we can get through clean yeah I could safely
- 22:19Speaker 1: tell you that through 20 years of doing this I
- 22:21Speaker 1: have never botched a live spot so I mean I.
- 22:27Speaker 4: And Sal, right now, if you remember George Lombard from
- 22:31Speaker 4: the Yankees a couple of weeks ago when he had
- 22:33Speaker 4: the six errors in six consecutive games, that's been me
- 22:37Speaker 4: recently where I just have the yips when it comes
- 22:39Speaker 4: to talking.
- 22:41Speaker 2: Talking? Not even reading?
- 22:42Speaker 3: Can we play the one from earlier in the week?
- 22:46Speaker 3: He does.
- 22:46Speaker 1: He has the yips, and he's hoping someone makes a
- 22:49Speaker 1: colossal mistake to get the bright shining lights off of him,
- 22:54Speaker 1: and no one's done it yet, Sal.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Perhaps you'll be the one.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Oh, let's hope it's not me. I mean, look, I
- 22:58Speaker 2: embarrassed myself enough yesterday with the connection. I can't miss
- 23:01Speaker 2: a read here or not or misspeak. I mean, come on.
- 23:04Speaker 1: Yes. And this is what Taylor is talking about. Mikey
- 23:07Speaker 1: was talking about. We're talking too much in too many places.
- 23:10Speaker 1: We had Steve Spurrier on the old ball coach. He
- 23:13Speaker 1: gave us a parlay that actually hit. I can't believe it.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Spurrier hit a parlay for us. A celebrity prognosticator. I
- 23:22Speaker 1: think it was a 14 parlay that the old ball
- 23:25Speaker 1: coach came through for us with. But here is Taylor
- 23:28Speaker 1: trying to say something fairly simple. The old ball coach.
- 23:32Speaker 2: To get the old boat. The old boat.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:39Speaker 2: That was even better.
- 23:41Speaker 3: He's got the yips. That one's my favorite. That one's
- 23:44Speaker 3: my favorite.
- 23:49Speaker 4: Sal, what happens there is in my head I mess
- 23:52Speaker 4: it up once, and then my mind tells me, okay,
- 23:55Speaker 4: it's not as bad as you think it was. And
- 23:58Speaker 4: then in my mind at that same time as I'm
- 24:00Speaker 4: saying it, I know it was bad. So then it's
- 24:03Speaker 4: affecting me by the second time I'm trying to say
- 24:04Speaker 4: it too.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Right, and by the time he shakes it off, which
- 24:06Speaker 1: is the next day, I play it back a thousand times.
- 24:10Speaker 2: That'll help his confidence. No, you're thinking. You got to
- 24:13Speaker 2: stop thinking. Start doing.
- 24:14Speaker 3: You can talk.
- 24:15Speaker 2: I mean, you've been doing it since you've been born. Yeah,
- 24:17Speaker 2: one or two, whatever it may be. All right. Let's
- 24:20Speaker 2: get updated here. We'll come back, maybe talk about Tamera
- 24:21Speaker 2: and Rodgers. Speaking of talking, do you see Rodgers, man? Rodgers, Maldi.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Let's get you updated right now.
- 24:26Speaker 3: Chris Perfette. All right, guys, we start in the NFL.
- 24:30Speaker 7: The big news of the day, Falcons quarterback Tua Tongavailoa
- 24:33Speaker 7: is ruled out for Sunday's season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 24:37Speaker 7: Cooper Rush set to make the start for Atlanta. Official
- 24:40Speaker 7: reports indicate Tua is dealing with a oblique injury, possibly
- 24:45Speaker 7: suffered in Thursday's practice where he appeared to grab at
- 24:47Speaker 7: his side or back in discomfort after a passing attempt
- 24:50Speaker 7: left the field. Cooper Rush took over for the rest
- 24:54Speaker 7: of the training season. uh, session.
- 24:58Speaker 3: Excuse me. I've got this.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I've got this.
- 25:03Speaker 3: No, no, no. But you're more Taylor wants to light
- 25:06Speaker 3: off of them.
- 25:08Speaker 7: Bleeding onto me here. Cardinals head coach, Michael first says
- 25:11Speaker 7: first round running back. Jeremiah love is trending towards playing
- 25:15Speaker 7: on Sunday.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Miles Garrett.
- 25:17Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 25:17Speaker 7: You, we were talking about a little bit, didn't appear
- 25:19Speaker 7: to really do much and definitely show up in the
- 25:21Speaker 7: box score for the Rams. 27 to seven, uh, crash out. Uh,
- 25:25Speaker 7: to the 49ers in, let me get this right, Melbourne.
- 25:29Speaker 7: After the game, Garrett admitted that he apparently has a
- 25:32Speaker 7: lingering knee injury that hurt his performance. I am sure
- 25:35Speaker 7: that will be with him on the flight back the
- 25:39Speaker 7: entire way. Patriots are placing wide receiver A.J. Brown on
- 25:42Speaker 7: the IR due to a high ankle sprain. Brown left
- 25:45Speaker 7: the game Wednesday against the Seahawks. It did not return,
- 25:48Speaker 7: speaking of which, there was a game on Wednesday, NFL season.
- 25:51Speaker 7: The move to IR means the earliest he can return
- 25:54Speaker 7: is October 18th against, wait for it, the New York Jets. Yes.
- 26:00Speaker 2: U.S.
- 26:00Speaker 7: And Europe are tied 4-4 after the opening session of
- 26:02Speaker 7: the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands on Friday. Your doubles
- 26:07Speaker 7: women's finalist winners are Katerina Sinikova and Taylor Townsend at
- 26:12Speaker 7: the U.S.
- 26:13Speaker 3: Open.
- 26:13Speaker 7: Currently in the first set between Zetarev and Kachanov in
- 26:17Speaker 7: New York in men's singles semifinal action. Cubs have opened
- 26:22Speaker 7: up a 5-1 lead on the Pittsburgh Pirates.
- 26:24Speaker 3: And the U.S.
- 26:25Speaker 7: And Europe are tied 4-4 in first day action matches.
- 26:29Speaker 7: at the Solheim Cup in the Netherlands. Back to Stugatz
- 26:32Speaker 7: and company, and I'm going to go scrub my mouth.
- 26:34Speaker 1: Yes, it's contagious. We're sorry about that. You're excellent at
- 26:37Speaker 1: your job. We're not, and we're sorry.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Now the poor player's rubbing off.
- 26:43Speaker 1: No, Sal, I don't know about you, okay, but for me,
- 26:46Speaker 1: have you done updates before?
- 26:47Speaker 2: I have not.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Okay, so I have done updates before, and just knowing
- 26:52Speaker 1: that there are difficult tennis names in the update will
- 26:54Speaker 1: throw me off before.
- 26:56Speaker 3: I even get started, you know?
- 26:57Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 26:57Speaker 2: That's one thing I've never had. I might have done
- 26:59Speaker 2: a couple in my life, but that's what, yeah. The
- 27:02Speaker 2: tennis time, with all those, you could hear him like, uh-oh.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I've had that happen during reads, like I said, but
- 27:08Speaker 2: those tennis names could be tough.
- 27:10Speaker 7: Yes, I think we had a I think we had
- 27:12Speaker 7: a producer around here who one night we were doing
- 27:15Speaker 7: a UFC update and he I watched him. I watched
- 27:20Speaker 7: him go back and forth practicing Khabib Nurga Madoff so
- 27:24Speaker 7: many times.
- 27:25Speaker 2: And when it came time to do it live, he
- 27:27Speaker 2: nailed it.
- 27:28Speaker 3: He nailed it.
- 27:28Speaker 7: And what did he do? What did he do after
- 27:30Speaker 7: pulling off the triple axle cartwheel? He stubbed his toe
- 27:34Speaker 7: saying Conor McGregor.
- 27:36Speaker 3: Yes.
- 27:37Speaker 1: Well, you're so relieved you got past the big roadblock
- 27:40Speaker 1: that you tend to trip up on the smaller one,
- 27:42Speaker 1: you know?
- 27:42Speaker 2: The rule of thumb, though, is you just got to
- 27:45Speaker 2: plow through. No matter what you may think you said
- 27:48Speaker 2: or how you– even if it's wrong, just say it confidently,
- 27:51Speaker 2: and nobody really knows the difference.
- 27:53Speaker 7: Yes.
- 27:53Speaker 1: I want to ask you a question here before we
- 27:55Speaker 1: get to Aaron Rodgers and what he had to say
- 27:58Speaker 1: about Matt LeFleur. You and I have spoken about this.
- 28:01Speaker 1: The first Sunday of NFL games is coming up this weekend.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Have you done all the things? I taught you this, okay,
- 28:07Speaker 1: because you're a married man.
- 28:09Speaker 3: You have a child.
- 28:10Speaker 1: Have you done all the necessary things, chores, all of it,
- 28:14Speaker 1: so you could free yourself up for the entire weekend
- 28:16Speaker 1: without your wife complaining about it?
- 28:19Speaker 2: I tried. You're right. Look, I don't think. Sue, let
- 28:23Speaker 2: me ask you. Do you think I could ever do enough?
- 28:25Speaker 2: Like you never met my wife, but I'm going to
- 28:27Speaker 2: tell you, I can't do enough. So I've tried, you know,
- 28:30Speaker 2: taking our daughter for ice cream in the summer, taking
- 28:32Speaker 2: some time away during the summer a little bit. I
- 28:35Speaker 2: try to explain during, you know, like Sundays, I got
- 28:37Speaker 2: to be left alone.
- 28:38Speaker 3: I'm working.
- 28:39Speaker 2: I'm watching the games. It's just not, I don't think
- 28:41Speaker 2: it's going to happen.
- 28:43Speaker 3: Do things that she could see. Okay.
- 28:45Speaker 1: So on Sunday morning, what you need to do Saturday morning,
- 28:48Speaker 1: whenever you do it, Just go out, mow the lawn, okay,
- 28:51Speaker 1: while she's home, okay?
- 28:54Speaker 3: Do some gardening. Look at me, honey.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Yes.
- 28:57Speaker 3: Whatever chores she needs done, you take care of that.
- 29:01Speaker 1: Anything before 1 o'clock, just get it all done so
- 29:04Speaker 1: she can leave you alone for the rest of the day.
- 29:06Speaker 3: I'm telling you, just act like you're doing stuff around
- 29:09Speaker 3: the house. Bring a hammer, a tool belt, whatever you
- 29:11Speaker 3: got there.
- 29:12Speaker 1: Just act like you're fixing stuff around the house so
- 29:14Speaker 1: she knows that you still care about your relationship with her.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Well, that's the point. She thinks I don't care about
- 29:20Speaker 2: the relationship with her. And to be honest, 10 years in,
- 29:23Speaker 2: I mean, I care a lot less than I did
- 29:24Speaker 2: in the beginning.
- 29:28Speaker 3: We all do, Sal.
- 29:31Speaker 1: Well, she feels the same way, I assure you. Yeah,
- 29:34Speaker 1: I'm sure she does.
- 29:35Speaker 2: God bless her. I know. But that's the truth. But
- 29:39Speaker 2: I do have I do have tomorrow. We were supposed
- 29:42Speaker 2: to go to her friend's. house or whatever and watch
- 29:45Speaker 2: their kids play– like, come on, talk about torture. I
- 29:49Speaker 2: miss being single and watching college football from 12 p.m.
- 29:52Speaker 2: to 12 a.m., betting the Hawaii-USC game, whatever it may be.
- 29:56Speaker 2: But I now have to sacrifice Saturdays for the greater
- 29:58Speaker 2: good of Sunday, and we're going to go to her
- 30:01Speaker 2: friend's house and, like, watch them play softball, the kids.
- 30:05Speaker 2: So I'm doing that. That should clear me for Sunday, no? No.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Yes, but that's front-end work, and that's a heady play
- 30:10Speaker 1: by you because you care less about college football Saturdays
- 30:13Speaker 1: than you do. In the Northeast, we just don't care
- 30:15Speaker 1: as much about college football. You care more about NFL Sundays.
- 30:19Speaker 1: So if you are to sacrifice a day, Saturday would
- 30:22Speaker 1: be that day.
- 30:23Speaker 3: That's a heady play by you, yes.
- 30:24Speaker 2: I mean, you really don't have to. I don't want
- 30:26Speaker 2: to sacrifice any day, but that's got to be the one, right?
- 30:29Speaker 2: You can't sacrifice football Sundays, so especially, like you said,
- 30:31Speaker 2: what I would do for work. But that being said,
- 30:35Speaker 2: I do hope to catch some of that Ohio State-Texas
- 30:36Speaker 2: game tomorrow night.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Yes, you'll be home by then, right?
- 30:39Speaker 1: I mean, it's not taking you into the night, right?
- 30:45Speaker 3: Kids got to go to bed.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness. Hey, I know you want to talk
- 30:50Speaker 2: about the Rogers and the Jordan Love and the Matt
- 30:52Speaker 2: LaFleur stuff, but did you see some of his stuff?
- 30:54Speaker 2: Speaking of married life, did you see some of the stuff?
- 30:56Speaker 2: He's been taking shots at his exes here. Did you
- 30:58Speaker 2: see that?
- 30:59Speaker 3: No, what happened?
- 30:59Speaker 2: Cheyenne Woodley, the actress, I think that's how you say
- 31:03Speaker 2: her name. So you just say it confidently and nobody
- 31:05Speaker 2: knows it. Cheyenne Woodley.
- 31:07Speaker 3: Uh, he was taking, like he was.
- 31:09Speaker 2: I think he was on with his buddy, uh, Cam
- 31:11Speaker 2: Hayward's podcast and he was just letting loose all over
- 31:13Speaker 2: the place, including obviously ripping Matt LaFleur. But I was
- 31:16Speaker 2: looking at the other stuff like, wow, he's opened up
- 31:18Speaker 2: on some of these public relationships, Danica Patrick as well
- 31:21Speaker 2: as Woodley. So I thought that that was fascinating from
- 31:23Speaker 2: Aaron Rogers.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Uh, Aaron Rogers seems like someone you would not want
- 31:26Speaker 1: to date because he, he will do exactly that. He
- 31:29Speaker 1: will talk about everything, uh, and be honest about it, uh,
- 31:32Speaker 1: after he's done dating you. Um, I don't know why
- 31:35Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers has felt the need to express himself in
- 31:39Speaker 1: such weird ways late in his career.
- 31:42Speaker 3: It's weird.
- 31:43Speaker 1: I don't mind him being honest. Aaron Rodgers was a
- 31:45Speaker 1: friend of the show. He was on with me and
- 31:47Speaker 1: Dan all the time. He's one of my favorite guests
- 31:49Speaker 1: of all time. And I still like Aaron Rodgers while
- 31:52Speaker 1: disagreeing with some of the things and some of the opinions.
- 31:55Speaker 3: That he has.
- 31:56Speaker 1: But I don't know, and I haven't been able to
- 31:57Speaker 1: ask him, I don't know why he has felt the
- 32:00Speaker 1: need to express himself this late in his career in
- 32:03Speaker 1: about weird topics and weird things.
- 32:06Speaker 3: He's an odd human being. He really is.
- 32:08Speaker 4: My version of hell would be getting this version of
- 32:11Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers as my quarterback, where he's not the MVP-level
- 32:14Speaker 4: quarterback anymore, but he's still going on every podcast and
- 32:17Speaker 4: show known to man because he likes hearing himself talking,
- 32:20Speaker 4: and Aaron Rodgers has to always show people he's the
- 32:22Speaker 4: smartest person in the room.
- 32:23Speaker 7: Come on, Aaron.
- 32:23Speaker 1: No, the hell is what me and Mikey A endured, right?
- 32:26Speaker 1: It was three snaps. And then he didn't shut up
- 32:30Speaker 1: for the next two years.
- 32:31Speaker 2: But how about the fact that Rodgers won? I personally
- 32:34Speaker 2: love Rodgers. I read his book. Actually, I listened to
- 32:37Speaker 2: his book. Can you say you read a book if
- 32:39Speaker 2: you really listen to it on Audible?
- 32:40Speaker 3: No, you can't.
- 32:41Speaker 2: You listen to a podcast.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Yes, absolutely. No.
- 32:44Speaker 2: It wasn't a podcast. It was a full book, the
- 32:47Speaker 2: audio book.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Listen, you cannot listen to an audio book, 877-99 on Fox.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Can you listen to an audio book and say to someone,
- 32:55Speaker 1: I read a book?
- 32:57Speaker 3: Yes. I'm with you, Sal.
- 32:58Speaker 2: No! It just sounds weird saying I listened to a book. Anyway,
- 33:03Speaker 2: I listened to the book that Ian O'Connor wrote about
- 33:05Speaker 2: Rogers a couple years ago.
- 33:06Speaker 3: I loved it.
- 33:07Speaker 2: I watched the Netflix special on him. He's fascinating to me.
- 33:11Speaker 2: And the reason why I feel like he's responding to
- 33:14Speaker 2: his exes is It's because they've been dragging him. I
- 33:18Speaker 2: think it's easy to punch Aaron Rodgers right now. The
- 33:22Speaker 2: public has basically been on Rodgers. They're saying, like, Woodley
- 33:25Speaker 2: was saying, oh, he ruined my life. It was abuse.
- 33:27Speaker 2: Whatever it was that she was saying about the relationship.
- 33:29Speaker 2: Patrick says what she says about him. And then he's
- 33:31Speaker 2: sitting there silent for the most part. Now, good for
- 33:33Speaker 2: him coming out and punching back.
- 33:35Speaker 3: All right. You like that. You like to punch back.
- 33:38Speaker 2: No, just giving, I guess, his side. Now, who the
- 33:41Speaker 2: hell knows what to believe? Now, the stuff that we
- 33:43Speaker 2: care about, the football stuff, Taylor's right about that, that
- 33:46Speaker 2: at this point, it's just he's a diminished player. That's
- 33:49Speaker 2: the saddest part of this whole thing. And the biggest
- 33:51Speaker 2: pub that he gets is what he's saying with his mouth,
- 33:53Speaker 2: not what his arm or his legs. Yes.
- 33:56Speaker 3: I happen to agree with him on his take on LeFleur.
- 33:59Speaker 1: LeFleur came out and said, let's play the sound of
- 34:02Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers and him objecting here to what it is
- 34:06Speaker 1: Matt LeFleur had to say about Jordan Love.
- 34:08Speaker 8: He's probably still mad I changed too many of his plays.
- 34:14Speaker 3: And what it is that he said.
- 34:16Speaker 8: Big statement when you had a guy win back-to-back MVPs,
- 34:19Speaker 8: you know. Guess I wasn't doing too much at the LOS.
- 34:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:25Speaker 8: That's a clown man he says he says some things
- 34:27Speaker 8: from time to time that are funny that he's like
- 34:29Speaker 8: oh maybe i shouldn't have said that like he's backing
- 34:31Speaker 8: up his quarterback i mean like yeah i'm sure jay
- 34:34Speaker 8: loves real good line of scrimmage but.
- 34:38Speaker 1: Oh that was a tough quote see my apology uh
- 34:42Speaker 1: my apologies for talking uh in the middle of that
- 34:44Speaker 1: sound so that that is on me but uh What
- 34:47Speaker 1: LeFleur said is that Jordan Love essentially is better than
- 34:49Speaker 1: Aaron Rodgers.
- 34:50Speaker 2: At the line of scrimmage. And Rodgers clearly took issue
- 34:53Speaker 2: with that. I mean, Rodgers is one of the great
- 34:55Speaker 2: quarterbacks of all time. I'd rather Rodgers rip his ex-girlfriend
- 34:58Speaker 2: than rip his coach. That to me is in bad
- 35:00Speaker 2: taste right there. That comes across as petty. The play
- 35:03Speaker 2: speaks for itself. I don't need Rodgers to say that.
- 35:05Speaker 2: We can assess and say, why would LeFleur say that?
- 35:07Speaker 2: That's just silly. It seems petty taking a shot. at
- 35:10Speaker 2: Aaron Rodgers, and then Rodgers returns serve, U.S. Open, Rodgers
- 35:14Speaker 2: returns serve, and then he gets even lower with that.
- 35:17Speaker 2: So I'd rather him defend himself with the relationships up.
- 35:20Speaker 2: That he didn't need to defend himself. We all know
- 35:23Speaker 2: he's a better quarterback than Jordan Love.
- 35:25Speaker 3: What happened to punching back? I mean.
- 35:28Speaker 2: And certain opponents.
- 35:30Speaker 3: I don't know. I mean, but it's the most ludicrous thing.
- 35:33Speaker 1: There is not a single thing in life that Jordan
- 35:36Speaker 1: Love is better than Aaron Rodgers at.
- 35:39Speaker 3: There's not a single thing. When it comes to quarterbacking,
- 35:41Speaker 3: is there anything Jordan.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Love, in your mind, having watched football for as long
- 35:45Speaker 1: as you've watched, Can you say to yourself that Jordan
- 35:48Speaker 1: Love is better than Aaron Rodgers at X?
- 35:51Speaker 3: There's nothing, right?
- 35:53Speaker 2: No. I mean, maybe some people could say he's better looking,
- 35:55Speaker 2: but no, he's not better at football than Aaron Rodgers.
- 35:58Speaker 2: To me, Rodgers is one of the best quarterbacks I've
- 36:01Speaker 2: ever seen in my life, period. I've always said that
- 36:03Speaker 2: Peyton Manning was the best pure quarterback, reading a defense,
- 36:06Speaker 2: putting the throws on the money. Brady, the greatest competitor,
- 36:09Speaker 2: greatest winner the sport's ever seen. Before Mahomes, Rodgers to
- 36:12Speaker 2: me was the best combo. He's so good that we
- 36:15Speaker 2: knock him because he's only won one Super Bowl. He's
- 36:18Speaker 2: only won one. He should win three or four. So
- 36:21Speaker 2: I love Aaron Rodgers. Those comments to me were, I
- 36:24Speaker 2: don't know, I think a little too insecure from Rodgers.
- 36:28Speaker 3: All right, let's take a quick timeout here. 877-99 on Fox.
- 36:31Speaker 1: That is 877-99 on Fox. We'll come back, hopefully take
- 36:35Speaker 1: some phone calls. Taylor has a word here. Try to

- 37:08Speaker 2: Company here, having a lot of fun on this Friday.
- 37:10Speaker 2: We did a lot of football the first hour. We'll
- 37:12Speaker 2: continue to do football here. But I do want to
- 37:14Speaker 2: get to some baseball stuff here, Stu, if I may.
- 37:17Speaker 2: Big game. We mentioned the 25th anniversary of 9-11. Subway
- 37:21Speaker 2: series tonight in the Bronx. Mets and Yankees. Yankees battling
- 37:25Speaker 2: for the American League East crown. And Anthony Volpe is
- 37:29Speaker 2: back with the team. More on him in just a second.
- 37:30Speaker 2: I saw this the other day and it bothered me.
- 37:32Speaker 2: And you guys are giving me the platform to vent
- 37:34Speaker 2: on this. This is a quote, and I hope you're
- 37:36Speaker 2: not friends with him, but I'm going to say it anyway.
- 37:38Speaker 2: John Marossi on MLB Network. Maybe a nice guy. I
- 37:41Speaker 2: don't know.
- 37:42Speaker 3: You have me being friends with Marossi? Is that what
- 37:44Speaker 3: you do? I mean, you have me being friends with
- 37:46Speaker 3: John Marossi?
- 37:46Speaker 2: Well, you know everybody. I just want to make sure. Okay,
- 37:49Speaker 2: even if I.
- 37:50Speaker 1: Were friends with John Marossi, I wouldn't be offended by
- 37:52Speaker 1: what it is you're about to say about him.
- 37:53Speaker 2: Good, because I'm about to torch him for a second.
- 37:57Speaker 2: So Judge took a day off yesterday. He's back in
- 37:59Speaker 2: the lineup tonight. It made me think of what he posted,
- 38:01Speaker 2: or MLB Network posted this the other day. I guess
- 38:03Speaker 2: Marossi was talking about Judge and him returning to the
- 38:06Speaker 2: Yankees lineup. Quote, they are a different team when he
- 38:10Speaker 2: is in the lineup.
- 38:11Speaker 3: No bleep. No bleep.
- 38:14Speaker 2: He's maybe the greatest player the sport has ever seen.
- 38:18Speaker 2: John Marossi, MLB Network. Quote, they are a different team
- 38:21Speaker 2: when it's in the lineup. Oh, you think?
- 38:24Speaker 3: You think? Oh, my God. Good God.
- 38:27Speaker 2: Sal. I think the Patriots were better with Tom Brady. Yeah.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Yeah. Hey, I don't know. Do you remember the Bulls
- 38:36Speaker 3: without Jordan? I'm just saying. I actually do. The two years.
- 38:40Speaker 1: I mean, they went to the Eastern Conference semifinals. They
- 38:43Speaker 1: probably should have won, beaten the Knicks. In a game seven,
- 38:46Speaker 1: Pippen was robbed.
- 38:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and they were a different team when Jordan returned
- 38:49Speaker 2: to the lineup.
- 38:50Speaker 3: They won three straight.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Dude, that was, like, I would never watch that, but
- 38:55Speaker 2: it came across on Instagram with that quote. Like, that's
- 38:58Speaker 2: the newsy quote from what Morosi said. They were a
- 39:01Speaker 2: different team with the judge back in the lineup. No bleep, Johnny.
- 39:04Speaker 2: Give me some info.
- 39:06Speaker 1: Uh you know cut morosi some slack that's the job
- 39:09Speaker 1: of of john morosi he has to remind you okay
- 39:12Speaker 1: you need to be reminded sometimes that yes the yankees
- 39:15Speaker 1: are better when their best player is in the lineup
- 39:18Speaker 1: i mean.
- 39:18Speaker 3: Good job by morosi they look morosi does.
- 39:22Speaker 2: He work for fox sports because if so i changed
- 39:24Speaker 2: my opinion i'm sorry.
- 39:25Speaker 3: I have no idea nor do i care i mean
- 39:27Speaker 3: if he does, too bad. We apologize. That was a
- 39:29Speaker 3: terrible report by you. Oh, I'm wrong.
- 39:32Speaker 5: Great.
- 39:32Speaker 2: No, great stuff, John.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Great.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Really informative. So Volpe is also back in the lineup
- 39:37Speaker 2: after Jazz Chisholm gets hurt. And then Volpe, who's been
- 39:39Speaker 2: the punching bag here. So much so that I don't
- 39:42Speaker 2: know how well it's transferred nationally. I know you guys
- 39:44Speaker 2: talk a little bit Yankees, but Volpe has been, you know,
- 39:47Speaker 2: the joke. And now he comes up, and again, the
- 39:48Speaker 2: overreactions too. He has one good game last night, hits
- 39:51Speaker 2: a grand slam. Now he's taking curtain calls. What's with
- 39:54Speaker 2: the overreaction here?
- 39:57Speaker 3: Why can't he take a curtain call?
- 39:59Speaker 1: That had to feel good for a big-time prospect who
- 40:02Speaker 1: has under-delivered in a big spot to hit a home run.
- 40:05Speaker 3: He wanted to celebrate it.
- 40:07Speaker 2: It's the Yankee fans that now, the same Yankee fans
- 40:10Speaker 2: that were booing the you-know-what out of him for months,
- 40:14Speaker 2: couldn't wait to get him sent down. He comes back
- 40:16Speaker 2: up for a game, and now it's like, oh, our
- 40:18Speaker 2: hero has returned. Yes. Yes.
- 40:21Speaker 3: Well, that should be the objection.
- 40:23Speaker 1: The fans who booed him and were part of the
- 40:25Speaker 1: reason that Volpe was sent down in the first place,
- 40:28Speaker 1: you can't boo him on the way down and then
- 40:30Speaker 1: he comes back up in a big spot, hits a
- 40:32Speaker 1: home run, and suddenly he's your favorite baseball player.
- 40:35Speaker 3: But that's fandom. Uh, that's what fandom is all about.
- 40:38Speaker 4: So my least favorite thing about being a Yankee fan
- 40:41Speaker 4: is other Yankee fans.
- 40:42Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 40:42Speaker 2: Yeah. You hate yourself.
- 40:44Speaker 4: I don't hate myself. I hate, I go to the,
- 40:47Speaker 4: I go to Yankee stadium. I go to Yankee stadium.
- 40:51Speaker 4: I sit down and I'm looking around at everybody and
- 40:53Speaker 4: I'm like, man, I kind of hate everybody here.
- 40:58Speaker 3: I thought the same thing looking at you, Taylor. It's
- 41:01Speaker 3: why he's not as big a Yankee fan as he
- 41:04Speaker 3: used to be. He took a look in the mirror.
- 41:06Speaker 2: Well, Taylor, where are you at with the Volpe stuff?
- 41:09Speaker 2: First of all, I think the right move was to
- 41:11Speaker 2: send him down to get right. This is why you
- 41:13Speaker 2: do that. They took him forever. But are you one
- 41:15Speaker 2: of these fans who's been flip-flopping here, wanted him down,
- 41:17Speaker 2: and now all of a sudden last night stands it
- 41:18Speaker 2: up in your bedroom or whatever watching this game? No.
- 41:22Speaker 4: So I want to go out there and support Anthony
- 41:24Speaker 4: Volpe because I do think it still could be a good,
- 41:28Speaker 4: a nice little redemption story. If the lifelong Yankee fan
- 41:32Speaker 4: turns it around, battles through adversity, gets sent down in
- 41:35Speaker 4: the minor leagues, probably thinks he's never going to make
- 41:38Speaker 4: it back to the major leagues. And then a couple
- 41:39Speaker 4: of months later, he finds a way back into the lineup.
- 41:43Speaker 4: When the Yankees are fully healthy, if Jazz Chisholm keeps
- 41:46Speaker 4: hitting the way Jazz Chisholm has the past month, Jazz
- 41:48Speaker 4: probably has that second base spot. McMahon at third base. Ideally,
- 41:52Speaker 4: you move Jazz to third. You sacrifice some defense. And
- 41:55Speaker 4: if Volpe, Sal, his swing looks a little different. If
- 41:58Speaker 4: I could just play devil's advocate.
- 41:59Speaker 3: Here for a second. Well, of course the swing looks different.
- 42:01Speaker 2: His swing looks a little different. His swing looks really
- 42:03Speaker 2: good right now.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Taylor, put it on the poll. Does the swing look
- 42:05Speaker 3: different when the ball goes out of the park? I
- 42:07Speaker 3: don't know.
- 42:10Speaker 4: But I'm watching breakdown videos and they're like, this top
- 42:13Speaker 4: swing is Anthony Volpe from early in the season and
- 42:16Speaker 4: this bottom swing is the bottom. And to be fair,
- 42:19Speaker 4: I don't really know what I'm looking at, but I'm
- 42:21Speaker 4: looking at that video, like one of those circle the
- 42:23Speaker 4: differences magazines that you get at like the dentist's office.
- 42:26Speaker 4: And I'm like, oh yeah, I think I do see
- 42:29Speaker 4: something a little technical in his swing change.
- 42:31Speaker 3: What?
- 42:32Speaker 2: Why don't you pull up that stat machine and see
- 42:33Speaker 2: if the stats could back it up in Volpe's one
- 42:35Speaker 2: game back? How old is it? What would be the
- 42:38Speaker 2: measurables there with Volpe? You know what I thought looked different?
- 42:41Speaker 2: His confidence. If you do see on the swing, once
- 42:43Speaker 2: he hit that ball, and by the way, it was
- 42:45Speaker 2: a wall scraper at Yankee State. Let's not make it
- 42:47Speaker 2: like Volpe muscled up and hit one nine mile. It
- 42:49Speaker 2: was a wall scraper. But he knew it, and he
- 42:51Speaker 2: dropped the bat. It was good to see him confident.
- 42:54Speaker 2: So from that standpoint, sure, but like... It's one game,
- 42:57Speaker 2: the same guy you just vilified for years. Now he's
- 43:00Speaker 2: taking curtain calls. Everybody thinks Volpe is back in the
- 43:02Speaker 2: great double play tandem. And the Yankees are going to
- 43:04Speaker 2: go win a World Series now. It's ridiculous.
- 43:07Speaker 1: What are you doing with fans today? NFL fans, Volpe fans,
- 43:10Speaker 1: Yankee fans. This is how fans act, man. When the
- 43:13Speaker 1: guy plays well, they cheer him. And when he plays poorly,
- 43:16Speaker 1: they boo him and send him down to the minors.
- 43:18Speaker 3: I mean, that's what we do.
- 43:20Speaker 2: The extremes. Like, I'm not saying, certainly not saying you
- 43:23Speaker 2: can't root for him. But the extremes to where, Stu, they, like,
- 43:27Speaker 2: Volpe was villain number one here.
- 43:30Speaker 3: Oh, I know.
- 43:30Speaker 2: Yes. Get him out. And then he comes back for
- 43:34Speaker 2: one game. And now it's like, oh, maybe he's going
- 43:36Speaker 2: to be great. I just, I don't know. I'd like
- 43:37Speaker 2: to see it. Now, I was rooting for him. Good
- 43:39Speaker 2: for the kid to have success.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Well, that's nice of you.
- 43:41Speaker 4: Yes.
- 43:41Speaker 1: I'm a nice guy. You're rooting for a guy in
- 43:46Speaker 1: your favorite baseball team.
- 43:47Speaker 3: That's nice of you.
- 43:48Speaker 2: He's a Mets fan. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 43:49Speaker 3: He's a Mets fan. My bad. That's a big mistake
- 43:51Speaker 3: by me right there. But it was nice of you
- 43:53Speaker 3: to root for Volpe, a kid who is a little
- 43:56Speaker 3: bit down on his luck.
- 43:57Speaker 1: And of course, when he hits one out of the park,
- 43:59Speaker 1: he's going to look more confident. Once he hits one
- 44:02Speaker 1: out of the park, that's.
- 44:03Speaker 3: Natural, of course.
- 44:04Speaker 2: Dropping the bat the way you saw that bat flip, Taylor.
- 44:07Speaker 2: Not bat flip, but the way he put that bat in.
- 44:08Speaker 3: He pimped it a little.
- 44:09Speaker 4: Sal, my least favorite quality in Yankee fans is anytime
- 44:13Speaker 4: I'm at the stadium and another fan starts chirping them
- 44:15Speaker 4: because that team is winning and the Yankee fan... responds
- 44:19Speaker 4: back with 27 rings and i'm like oh my god
- 44:22Speaker 4: stop with the 27 rings more than a three-fourths of
- 44:26Speaker 4: these rings were won in the 20s and the 30s
- 44:29Speaker 4: when the tv was black and white have some self-respect
- 44:32Speaker 4: for yourself bragging about world series rings from roger peckinpah's.
- 44:36Speaker 3: Day you and the peckinpah again it's the third time
- 44:40Speaker 3: you've mentioned them this week.
- 44:43Speaker 2: I don't even know who that is. Should I know
- 44:45Speaker 2: who this is? Roger Peckinpah? He was like a second
- 44:47Speaker 2: baseman in the 1900s.
- 44:50Speaker 1: Taylor has learned the art of just picking out. He
- 44:54Speaker 1: could have picked anyone on that roster to search for
- 44:57Speaker 1: the funny name.
- 44:57Speaker 3: And that's the funny name right there.
- 45:00Speaker 2: I've heard that argument my whole life. Oh, 27 rings,
- 45:03Speaker 2: this and that. Now, I do root for the Yankees
- 45:05Speaker 2: because of Boone. I love Aaron Boone. And I do think, actually,
- 45:09Speaker 2: when you look at this Yankee team, I mean, you
- 45:10Speaker 2: could throw the Dodgers into this conversation, obviously, although Otani's hurt. And,
- 45:14Speaker 2: you know, with the Dodgers, they're a different team with
- 45:16Speaker 2: Otani in the lineup. They're a completely different team. When
- 45:19Speaker 2: he's in the rotation, they're a totally different team. So
- 45:21Speaker 2: you know that that's the case.
- 45:23Speaker 1: The problem is they were just fine when Otani was
- 45:25Speaker 1: not on the team. They won a World Series. But
- 45:30Speaker 1: I do look.
- 45:31Speaker 2: At the Yankees and think that and it's not reaction
- 45:35Speaker 2: to them sweeping the Rockies or even closing the gap
- 45:38Speaker 2: with the Rays. It's only now three games. Could there
- 45:40Speaker 2: be a little bit of what happened with the Knicks
- 45:43Speaker 2: going on, where they have the regular season that's disappointing
- 45:45Speaker 2: for a variety of reasons, then they get to the playoffs. Like,
- 45:50Speaker 2: all the pieces are in place. I never thought the
- 45:52Speaker 2: Knicks would do it, but the pieces were in place.
- 45:55Speaker 2: They did it. The pieces are in place for this
- 45:58Speaker 2: Yankees team. A weak American League, Dodgers banged up, no
- 46:01Speaker 2: real clear team. Like, is Milwaukee really going to be
- 46:05Speaker 2: that big of a favor over the Yankees? I think
- 46:07Speaker 2: you can make an argument they could do similar to
- 46:09Speaker 2: what the Knicks did.
- 46:10Speaker 3: We shouldn't be surprised.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Any team that makes it to the baseball playoffs, pretty
- 46:13Speaker 1: much any team that makes it to the baseball playoffs,
- 46:15Speaker 1: if that team goes on a run to the World
- 46:18Speaker 1: Series and ends up winning the World Series, we shouldn't
- 46:20Speaker 1: be surprised.
- 46:20Speaker 3: Baseball is just such a random sport.
- 46:22Speaker 1: As you know, the Marlins, 97, they got there, won
- 46:25Speaker 1: the World Series.
- 46:27Speaker 3: 2003, got there again, worst team, won the World Series.
- 46:31Speaker 1: So for me, any team that makes the Major League
- 46:34Speaker 1: Baseball playoffs wins. has a chance of winning the World Series.
- 46:38Speaker 1: We should not be surprised if any of those teams,
- 46:40Speaker 1: including Milwaukee, who chokes every single year in the postseason,
- 46:43Speaker 1: we still shouldn't be surprised if this is the year
- 46:46Speaker 1: they make it to the World Series.
- 46:47Speaker 4: And the reason for confidence when it comes to the Yankees,
- 46:49Speaker 4: it's Cam Schlittler, Garrett Cole, Max Fried being your one, two,
- 46:53Speaker 4: three on the mound. And then it just feels like
- 46:55Speaker 4: with your lineup, the magic number, Sal, is probably like,
- 46:58Speaker 4: if you could score five runs in the postseason, this
- 47:01Speaker 4: feels like this Yankee team with this rotation and the
- 47:04Speaker 4: bullpen probably wins like 95% of games if they could
- 47:07Speaker 4: just hit that number.
- 47:08Speaker 2: Well, that's kind of my point is that the offseason,
- 47:11Speaker 2: it was Yankees didn't do enough. They didn't do anything.
- 47:14Speaker 2: They basically ran it back and hoped to get healthy. In-season,
- 47:17Speaker 2: didn't do enough. Lots of injuries, not good enough. Ray's better.
- 47:21Speaker 2: Red Sox coming. Red Sox were hot. Still losing stand. Okay,
- 47:25Speaker 2: the Yankees added the deadline. Didn't add enough. They didn't
- 47:28Speaker 2: add the bullpen that we would hope. And yet here
- 47:31Speaker 2: we are where because of Schlittler, who to your point, Taylor,
- 47:34Speaker 2: you were on this early on in the year saying
- 47:36Speaker 2: you'd rather have him than Paul Skeens. Right now it's
- 47:38Speaker 2: a blowout. I mean, that's not even close.
- 47:40Speaker 1: He's so proud of that take. I have no idea
- 47:42Speaker 1: how that take stood up for him.
- 47:44Speaker 3: I mean, I really don't. What a lucky take that was.
- 47:47Speaker 1: Nobody, nobody except for CeCe Sabathia agreed with that take
- 47:52Speaker 1: at the time.
- 47:53Speaker 4: To be fair, CeCe Sabathia agreed with me around, like,
- 47:56Speaker 4: all-star break when it was very clear which way it
- 47:58Speaker 4: was trending.
- 47:58Speaker 3: He was late to the party.
- 48:00Speaker 4: CeCe didn't really put his toe in the water with me.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Plus, he's a homer anyway. You can't take what CeCe's saying.
- 48:06Speaker 2: He's a great guy, but he's going to obviously favor
- 48:08Speaker 2: the Yankees. But when you look at Schlittler, Cole— Freed
- 48:12Speaker 2: now coming back. I know it wasn't great last night,
- 48:14Speaker 2: but getting healthier here, that's the recipe for success in
- 48:17Speaker 2: the postseason. Tell me who's definitively better. Judge back in
- 48:21Speaker 2: that lineup, Luis Garcia Jr., the one thing that they
- 48:23Speaker 2: did add, the guy's been raking, so he replaces what
- 48:26Speaker 2: Stanton would have done had he come back. I'm not
- 48:29Speaker 2: saying they're going to do it. I think the pieces
- 48:31Speaker 2: are in place, though, for the Yankees.
- 48:33Speaker 3: So do I.
- 48:34Speaker 1: I would also say that Major League Baseball has it
- 48:36Speaker 1: exactly the way they want it right now in terms
- 48:38Speaker 1: of peak interest in the postseason. All the markets and
- 48:41Speaker 1: teams they want to be good, for the most part,
- 48:44Speaker 1: are really, really good. Yankees, Red Sox, Cubs. Dodgers, major markets,
- 48:50Speaker 1: big brands, big teams, big stars. And so the postseason
- 48:54Speaker 1: should be fun. But of course, Sal, why would anyone
- 48:56Speaker 1: be surprised if the Yankees make it to the World Series?
- 48:59Speaker 3: If they make it to the playoffs, they can make
- 49:01Speaker 3: it to the World Series.
- 49:02Speaker 2: OK, well, Taylor had one great take, another take. And
- 49:04Speaker 2: he was texting me this quite often. And I'm sure
- 49:06Speaker 2: he was saying it on all the podcasts and the
- 49:07Speaker 2: radio shows that you guys are doing. This was his
- 49:10Speaker 2: least favorite Yankee team of all time.
- 49:12Speaker 3: I think he's taken that back since, yes.
- 49:14Speaker 2: I've started to walk it back a little. You can't
- 49:17Speaker 2: walk that back.
- 49:18Speaker 3: Come on. The team hasn't even changed.
- 49:21Speaker 4: When I said it, I was getting ready to gauge
- 49:23Speaker 4: my eyes out watching Trent Grisham strike out all the time,
- 49:27Speaker 4: and now we've replaced some of those at-bats with George
- 49:29Speaker 4: Lombard and Spencer Jones, and we're getting some of the
- 49:33Speaker 4: young guys in here who are at least– Even if
- 49:36Speaker 4: they're going to strike out a lot and not play
- 49:39Speaker 4: to high contact rates, at least they're exciting.
- 49:41Speaker 3: Yes.
- 49:42Speaker 1: Mikey, how do you feel about Sal being some sort
- 49:45Speaker 1: of fan policeman? Like he is the guy who determines
- 49:48Speaker 1: what fans can say, what they can do, when they
- 49:51Speaker 1: can take it back, when they can't take it back.
- 49:54Speaker 3: I love Sal being in charge of all fans.
- 49:58Speaker 6: I'd just be happy if he was in charge of
- 50:00Speaker 6: Taylor's fans.
- 50:03Speaker 3: Keeping track of Taylor's takes. I am all over the place.
- 50:06Speaker 6: You kind of are all just, you're a little volatile
- 50:09Speaker 6: either way with your fandom, Taylor.
- 50:12Speaker 2: I like Sal reeling you in.
- 50:13Speaker 1: The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, Taylor. Stay
- 50:16Speaker 1: exactly the way you are. He's ripping my guy booty
- 50:20Speaker 1: left and right.
- 50:20Speaker 2: Oh, this team stinks. I can't watch them. And now
- 50:23Speaker 2: he's like, yeah, they can win the World Series. And
- 50:25Speaker 2: that's obviously, we know that that's what fans do. But
- 50:27Speaker 2: to your point, Stu, I feel like in New York,
- 50:29Speaker 2: at least, Now, maybe I'm just brainwashed by the 90s
- 50:32Speaker 2: and the Yankees having a dynasty and like they would
- 50:34Speaker 2: dominate in the regular season. There was no doubt they
- 50:37Speaker 2: didn't win. They're not winning. They didn't win the division
- 50:40Speaker 2: last year. They're still not winning the division right now.
- 50:42Speaker 2: So that's a big part of like, well, how are
- 50:43Speaker 2: they going to win the World Series? They have to
- 50:45Speaker 2: go on the road. They have to face the Red Sox.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Then if they win that, have to go on the
- 50:48Speaker 2: road in Tampa, which is a tough spot. The path there,
- 50:51Speaker 2: I think, is what makes me think that that maybe
- 50:54Speaker 2: they're not going to be there, even though the probably
- 50:55Speaker 2: odds on favorites, maybe why it would be a difficult road.
- 50:59Speaker 4: To be fair, when I said they were my least
- 51:01Speaker 4: favorite team, their backup catcher was an Uber driver, JC Escar.
- 51:05Speaker 2: They have Ali Sanchez. He's basically an Uber driver, too.
- 51:08Speaker 2: He stinks, too, yeah.
- 51:10Speaker 1: But that should make them your favorite team. They have
- 51:13Speaker 1: a bunch of former Uber drivers on your roster, and
- 51:16Speaker 1: you're still going to make it to the playoffs.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Little underdog.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Listen.
- 51:20Speaker 6: Having the former grocery store bagman as your quarterback is
- 51:24Speaker 6: fun when it's Kurt Warner.
- 51:26Speaker 2: When it's JC Escara, it's not.
- 51:27Speaker 4: And he's batting 150. Yeah, you don't want the Uber
- 51:30Speaker 4: driver when he's batting 150. Some redemption story. He's batting
- 51:33Speaker 4: below the Mendoza line.
- 51:38Speaker 2: That's nasty. See, I can be the fan police. I mean,
- 51:40Speaker 2: now you're going to players, Taylor. Come on. That's not nice.
- 51:43Speaker 2: He's trying to make a living for himself. Sure, he's
- 51:45Speaker 2: a great guy.
- 51:48Speaker 3: We'll take it. All due respect. All due respect.
- 51:51Speaker 2: He's probably a great guy. But as I always say,
- 51:53Speaker 2: you start ribbing. And then nothing personal. Morosi, whoever, a scar.
- 51:56Speaker 2: Nothing personal. And then tee off on them.
- 52:00Speaker 3: Wait, so Morrissey works for Fox? He does? Yes, we've
- 52:02Speaker 3: confirmed that?
- 52:03Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 52:03Speaker 3: I take back everything I said. Joe Moe. Joe Moe,
- 52:07Speaker 3: love you. Give me some Moe. All right, we'll take
- 52:12Speaker 3: a quick timeout.
- 52:13Speaker 1: I am told here Ricardo has written a song and
- 52:16Speaker 1: voiced a song about Arch Manning.
- 52:19Speaker 3: We'll play it for you. Coming up next.
