- 2:53Nith Nithum. What's his name?
- 2:55Nith. Nith.
- 2:57Yeah, yeah, him and I. I like anal.
- 2:59Accidentally, we accidentally ran into each other and then all
- 3:03of a sudden now here we are. You guys seem fun and and cool.
- 3:06I've never heard of your show, Joba.
- 3:08I watched you growing up couple of times patient for the Yankees
- 3:12and big baseball fan back in the day when I was growing up in
- 3:17high school. But yes, I'm I'm excited to be
- 3:20here and, and excited to chat. Well I will say this, he hates
- 3:24being called Joba, so I do that. Perfectly well.
- 3:27My fault, brother. My fault, brother.
- 3:29You know what? I've been called worse, fam.
- 3:32So I'm good. I'm good.
- 3:37I just. For sure.
- 3:37What do you like to be called? Just not late to dinner.
- 3:46I. Like that one?
- 3:47I like that one. Well, he's definitely never late
- 3:49to dinner, as we all know. Yeah, for sure.
- 3:52I'm smaller than I was when I played.
- 3:54Right now I know I'm messing. Listen, I'm just messing around
- 3:57with you as I always do. And and Jordan, if you actually
- 4:00listen to this show, this show is a little crazy.
- 4:02We definitely, we get our content.
- 4:05We we talk a lot of football, baseball, hockey, basketball,
- 4:08mixed martial arts. We are very knowledgeable what
- 4:10we're talking about. But the whole point of this show
- 4:12is to have fun when we get guests.
- 4:14Absolutely. We want people to feel like
- 4:16they're at home hanging out on, you know, if you're on a lunch
- 4:18room with your your boys in high school, you could sit have a
- 4:22little fun with with us, grab a drink as job is probably doing
- 4:25right now, or grabbing a sausage with speedy like some thick and
- 4:30you know, dark as he always tells and long right Speedy.
- 4:34Length doesn't matter. There you go.
- 4:39Jordan Lane doesn't matter anyways.
- 4:42Jordan, there's a lot of football to get into and, and
- 4:44it's crazy because the football season is right around the
- 4:48corner. OTAs are right around the
- 4:50corner. And where before we get into
- 4:52your thoughts of what happened last year, where do where do you
- 4:55see yourself this year as an NFL player?
- 4:58Do you see a team out there that you want to play for and why?
- 5:05Yeah, yeah, the Bills and not necessarily like, you know,
- 5:09I've, I've thought I've gone back and forth this, you know, I
- 5:13spent 12 years playing the game I love at a very high level.
- 5:16You know, at this point in my career, there's really nothing
- 5:19left that I need to prove. You know, I'm enjoying this
- 5:22time, this off time. It's the first time really in my
- 5:25whole life that, you know, I've been able to kind of just kind
- 5:29of sit back and not have to be ready to go into training camp
- 5:32next week. You know, right now.
- 5:33I got messed up fingers, dude. I got shoulders.
- 5:36I got, you know, you know, just a lot of things on my body that
- 5:39would prohibit me from playing, you know, 17 games in the season
- 5:43because the season's long. And, you know, the idea of going
- 5:47back to Buffalo and retiring to build would be spectacular when,
- 5:52you know, whatever that looks like.
- 5:53I'm not sure, you know, if there was an opportunity for me to
- 5:56come. They needed a body to come in
- 5:58and even, you know, I call it get on the Michael Hyde plan.
- 6:01You know, Michael Hyde came back there last year and, you know,
- 6:03he just helped help the young guys get ready to play.
- 6:06He was on the practice squad and I I, I don't have, you know,
- 6:10there's nothing about me that's, you know, I'm going to go there
- 6:12and, you know, feel like I got to go take someone's spot.
- 6:15You know, I, I really just, you know, I've had, there's been
- 6:18some conversations. Nothing's in stone, but it's,
- 6:20you know, obviously something that it, it could be a
- 6:23possibility, but you know, I'm at the point of my career, dude.
- 6:27Like, you know, last year was it was super tough on me.
- 6:29I mean, it was tough on our team, but just made me in
- 6:32particular, you know, just coming, being in Buffalo for so
- 6:35many years and being in that culture and then going to Miami
- 6:39and you know, it was, it was great dudes on the team.
- 6:41It was, you know, I, I have created relationships on that
- 6:44team that I'll, you know, have for a lifetime.
- 6:46You know, it was just, it was just different, you know, and it
- 6:49was, you know, the team was different, the culture was
- 6:51different. You know, the staff is different
- 6:53than the way they interact with you and you know, you can point
- 6:56fingers all sorts of here and there's and you know, and you
- 6:59know, I, like I said, I know a lot of homeboys on that team
- 7:02still that I do wish, you know, nothing but the best for.
- 7:05But you know, it took a lot out of me, took a lot out of out of
- 7:09me mentally, physically and and you know, I'm at the point of my
- 7:12career again, like I was all pro in 21.
- 7:16I was a pro bowler in 22. I had 24 picks in my career,
- 7:19like I was a seventh round pick, you know, for my story, Oregon,
- 7:23you know, a small town in the mouth of the Columbia River in
- 7:25Oregon that really nobody even knows where it's at.
- 7:28So, you know, to say, you know, I, I probably shouldn't, if you
- 7:32would have thought 12 years ago I'd play 12 years in the league,
- 7:34people probably would have laughed.
- 7:36And so, you know, I'm, I'm, I'm blessed to be where my feet are.
- 7:40You know, I, I can't complain at all about, you know, I put my
- 7:42blood, sweat and tears into this game.
- 7:44But to be able to give back to the game in some sort of manner
- 7:47to also also be able to kind of close that chapter and on on my
- 7:51football career, you know, as a Buffalo Bill.
- 7:53And again, that's not necessary. You know, it's just helping
- 7:55guys, you know, get ready to play, you know, giving them my
- 7:58knowledge. I've learned a lot about the
- 7:59game of football over the years. And, you know, just being able
- 8:03to get back in that way would be, you know, ideal, you know,
- 8:05fantasy world. Yeah, absolutely.
- 8:07But right now, I'm right where my feet are.
- 8:09I'm kind of, you know, in a way excited that I don't got to get
- 8:12ready to go hit somebody next week, you know, and I just kind.
- 8:17Of you want to hit somebody, I got Speedy, I'll hold them down.
- 8:19You could beat the hell out of them.
- 8:21You'll hang them up as a pinata, Jordan, You will hang them up as
- 8:24a pinata. You could.
- 8:25Probably just hit me without somebody holding me down.
- 8:27That's. Not I love Lisa Ann.
- 8:32Well, somebody. Got to do it.
- 8:34I, I, I've been saying this over and over and over again, when,
- 8:37when you look at the quarterback position, Josh Allen won the MVP
- 8:41last year. A lot of people were questioning
- 8:42it because of what Joe Burrow did last year.
- 8:45Joe Burrow have put up numbers that we haven't seen a
- 8:47quarterback do ever. And then you have guys like
- 8:50Lamar Jackson that's putting up the numbers every single year.
- 8:54And remember, you got to you got to ask him the question.
- 8:56I will, I will, I will. Why is it that everybody last
- 9:02year thought that Josh Allen was the best quarterback in the
- 9:05league? And why do you think he
- 9:07should've or shouldn't have won the MVP?
- 9:12I'm always riding with Josh. You know, I and there's there's
- 9:17a clip of me after I had signed with the Dolphins, I went out to
- 9:20Buffalo and you know, there was a big Mike, I had a softball
- 9:23tournament out there and he gave me the mic to just kind of say
- 9:26my goodbyes. It was a cool way to say my
- 9:27goodbye to Buffalo. And you know, I had mentioned
- 9:30even then, like, look, you guys got the best quarterback in the
- 9:33game. Like I truly believe that not
- 9:35even just, yeah, OK, maybe a little bit of bias, but like
- 9:38I've seen Josh when he came in as a rookie and, and seen, you
- 9:42know, how much he's put into the game, how much he's put into
- 9:45himself. And, and even just not even just
- 9:47better himself on the field, but off the field too.
- 9:50Like, you know, he's so much more mature.
- 9:51He's so much he's he's really come into his own and he's a
- 9:55fucking, he's like, he's a competitor, dude.
- 9:57Like, I've golfed with him and he just doesn't like to lose.
- 10:01Like this play right here. Like, you know, like people
- 10:04might be surprised, but like, if you know, Josh, like there's
- 10:08just that's just him, dude. And like, I don't don't see any
- 10:11other player any other quarter. Yeah, Lamar Jackson might.
- 10:14OK, right. But like, that Josh is also
- 10:16slinging that thing down the field, standing tall in the
- 10:19pocket, escaping big guys. Like he does.
- 10:23He does it all. You know, I was watching Mike
- 10:25Vick highlights the other days, you know, and talk about like
- 10:29the quarterback era changing, you know, right, like the the
- 10:32the quarterback used to be under center drop back.
- 10:35You guys remember used to watching football back in early
- 10:372000s and you know, late 1999 and you know now like you kind
- 10:43of look at Mike Vick in the way that he really almost changed
- 10:46the game, right? You want a quarterback that can
- 10:48move around in the pocket that can escape and extend the play.
- 10:51That's really where most big plays are made, where a
- 10:54quarterback is able to break off a tackle and and extend.
- 10:57I mean, this is my first NFL game ever right here.
- 11:01That was the first play of the game too, which is crazy.
- 11:04I was AI was a Philadelphia Eagle.
- 11:06I started at Nicola again, I was the first play of the game.
- 11:08That's crazy, but but like to be able to throw the long ball
- 11:13brand and be able to like get make people miss and in the
- 11:17middle of the field and just play backyard football the way
- 11:20he does. Like I just yeah, I might be a
- 11:23little biased, but I just don't see anybody else doing what he
- 11:26does. And I do feel like he definitely
- 11:28deserved that. So I want to go back to the
- 11:30quarterback you play with at the start of your career too.
- 11:31And a guy and Johnny Manziel that was quite a personality too
- 11:34in in Cleveland and obviously had the off the field this year.
- 11:37So his career didn't last as long.
- 11:38But now I was spoken saying the NIL money is going to make him
- 11:41wear more guys get paid more than in the NFL too.
- 11:45So what was he like on and off the field?
- 11:46What are your thoughts to those comments in NIL in football now?
- 11:50Oh, man, that's a loaded question.
- 11:52You know, Johnny at the time was young, too.
- 11:54You know, he was coming out of Texas A&M.
- 11:56And again, you know, when you're young and you get, you know,
- 11:59thrown X amount of money and you feel like you have the world
- 12:02figured out and. I'm sure you'd be dumb and full
- 12:05of cum as we all say. Right, you know, and, and, and
- 12:08seeing, seeing his evolution now, seeing where he's at now
- 12:12and you know, the state of mind that he's in now, state of
- 12:14awareness. And you know, I have
- 12:16conversations with him every once in a while, every blue
- 12:18moon, but just, you know, knowing that he's in a better
- 12:20place he was now that he is now than he was in Cleveland, you
- 12:24know, cuz Cleveland was wild, dude.
- 12:26We were sorry. And we were just a bunch of
- 12:28dudes that just went out and partied all the time.
- 12:31Like we just went out all the time.
- 12:33Barley House went to rumor. We went to the casino.
- 12:37Hey, Barley House, I played. I played for the Indians.
- 12:40Barley House went when the house went, son.
- 12:43Went crazy. And then when it when it closed,
- 12:46I'm I'm I'm not trying to dime anybody out, but when you go in
- 12:49the backroom when it gets closed, fans, oh for sure they
- 12:52will they. Will let you stay. 100 What are?
- 12:54You doing in the? Backroom.
- 12:58No, it's just, it's literally a back bar where it's like, it's
- 13:01just like all of our players in private where we're just like
- 13:05all of us are just chopping it up like.
- 13:08You're. Going to you're going to, you're
- 13:09going to have Browns, guys, you gonna have baddies and back
- 13:13there, I mean, you're gonna have it.
- 13:15Was crazy time. Barley House was hey and Joe did
- 13:20a good job. Make sure to take care of us.
- 13:22I gotta go to. Joe, I gotta.
- 13:23Go to a barley house. Yeah, check it out.
- 13:26Check it out dude. It is a definitely get.
- 13:29Myself into trouble. I know it's, it's, it's, it's
- 13:33good fun. It was never, it was never
- 13:35anything crazy. Yeah, Cleveland.
- 13:37Cleveland is a slept on city though.
- 13:39Like it's, it's, it's sneaky good.
- 13:41Yeah, I live down in the flats. When I stay down there, I.
- 13:44Live, yeah. Punch bowl.
- 13:47So I lived in Westlake. OK, Yeah, yeah, yeah, it was.
- 13:51Yeah. Cleveland was a good time.
- 13:52But like, yeah, we were, we were.
- 13:54So we were so bad. I think we won like 3 games or
- 13:56four games in three years. And you know, Johnny was drafted
- 14:01and it was like Cleveland was this massive explosion of
- 14:04Johnny's going to come over and save us.
- 14:05Johnny didn't watch an ounce of film.
- 14:07Like he didn't watch no film. He just went out there and
- 14:10expected to just sling that thing around.
- 14:12He did every once in a while. And I mean, it's just kind of,
- 14:15it's crazy full circle to kind of see how everything has played
- 14:19out, right? Like AG Aaron Glenn, he was my,
- 14:21he was one of my DB coaches in Cleveland.
- 14:24And he's somebody who I've well respected dude.
- 14:26And you, I heard you guys talking about it earlier.
- 14:28I'm super excited for him to have the opportunity and with
- 14:31The Jets because you know, he's somebody who I've I've just held
- 14:34the highest regard for since I've came into the, you know, I
- 14:38was a rookie maybe my second year and he was more kind of the
- 14:42on his younger side of his coaching career and see him go
- 14:46and you'll be in Detroit. I think he was in another team
- 14:48too. He might have been the.
- 14:49Saints. The Saints.
- 14:51Yeah, might have been the Saints.
- 14:53Yeah. And then and then he played, you
- 14:56know, like that's what I like. I don't like sometimes I don't
- 14:59understand how like, like, you know, it's I'm not I'm knowing
- 15:02the judge. But like, you got to put coaches
- 15:04in front of us that has played the game, right?
- 15:06Like we can relate to. He's somebody he's going to
- 15:09motivate that team. Jets are going to be a force
- 15:11because of him, not just because of him.
- 15:13Obviously they got talented players, but like him coming in
- 15:16there and you know, you know, it's, it's going to be exciting
- 15:19to to see them play. Yeah, Jordan, I, I, I wanted to
- 15:22ask you something too. And I, and I've always, I've
- 15:25always thought this kind of touched on NIL and how that, you
- 15:28know, that's changing things too.
- 15:30And the one thing that like I wanted to ask you about with
- 15:35with your career and everything. And I got a son that's a
- 15:38sophomore in college and playing baseball, but you played
- 15:42baseball, basketball and football and you were late.
- 15:46You were late pick, obviously in the seventh round.
- 15:49Like have you seen or like been in a way where like how did
- 15:56those other sports make you better in like your profession?
- 16:01Right? Because I see just so
- 16:02one-dimensional people that are just playing football or they're
- 16:05just they're just playing basketball.
- 16:07They're just playing baseball where you played it all.
- 16:10And obviously it it's not easy to do what we do, you know,
- 16:14playing 10 years and and doing it in baseball and you doing it
- 16:18in football. And that is remiss now because
- 16:21of of the money that they're getting because they're
- 16:24specifically in that. And how did that help you in
- 16:27your career? Though I think playing baseball
- 16:30was one of the biggest like blessings for me to be able
- 16:34because I was well, I was nice. I know everybody says it was
- 16:36nice in baseball bro, but like I was, I was nice baseball playing
- 16:39the outfield. I could hit, I was strong arm.
- 16:42I just couldn't play the infield.
- 16:43They tried to put me on shortstop and third base.
- 16:45I couldn't feel the ground ball. It was just I could be in the
- 16:47outfield tracking down fly balls.
- 16:49And like, that's why I do believe that it transitioned
- 16:51over to tracking a football too. Like I'm able, you know, I I
- 16:54returned punts a couple times in my career, but to be able to
- 16:57track a football, like that's an art in itself, right?
- 17:00Like not everybody even you see out there on Sundays has the
- 17:04talent to be able to really track a football right, Because
- 17:07there's you know, like I'm sure you've been out in the outfield
- 17:10before, like where you you get a ball off a bat and it's like,
- 17:13holy fuck, like, and that that alone is an art too.
- 17:16And right. And if you're able to kind of
- 17:18read, you know, I played right field and center.
- 17:20So you had to I I had to know the pitch.
- 17:22I had to know, you know, what he's throwing.
- 17:24So that I had to obviously know the hitter and get a jump off
- 17:27the Reed or off the off his swing off the pitch.
- 17:30And that's kind of where my jumps, you know, I jumped
- 17:33everything for in college and then ball skills.
- 17:36I just kept working on that. So I think that transition is
- 17:39like, go back to this NIL stuff. Like the game's changing.
- 17:42And I'm sure even baseball is like changing in so many ways,
- 17:46right? But like these kids now days,
- 17:49everything is social media. Like back when we were growing
- 17:51up, it was like you went out to the park and you just grinded
- 17:54like on whatever. And it was like, I played three
- 17:57sports and all of them correlated.
- 17:58It didn't matter. We like you're training for all
- 18:01three sports. You're not training for just one
- 18:04damn thing, which is like what kids do nowadays.
- 18:07And like, that's fine to a certain extent, but it's like,
- 18:10dude, like I, I just feel like you're missing out on so many
- 18:13more just attributes that you can gain just by like extending,
- 18:19you know, extending your knowledge of different sports,
- 18:21right? And like, you know, for me,
- 18:23baseball came easy. Basketball my mom just made me
- 18:26play because I was athletic, you know, but football was like
- 18:29where I dominated. Baseball dominated too.
- 18:32I was actually a nice pitcher too out of fastball and just a
- 18:3512 to 6 curveball knuckle curve. That's all I threw.
- 18:39But baseball I, I, I didn't have as much fun playing baseball.
- 18:42And that's, you know, I played actually a year at Oregon State
- 18:46baseball and football and that actually was really tough.
- 18:49I didn't have like females doing my grades and stuff which I
- 18:52should have had like I don't know why it was like in.
- 18:55North Carolina. Yeah, I don't know what I.
- 18:58Was I did have that in college. So I was, I was, I was, I was
- 19:01good. So you're a cheater.
- 19:02Yeah, like. Jabba's a cheater.
- 19:04No that's not cheating bro. The school system is ridiculous.
- 19:08Hey, if you ain't cheating, you ain't trying.
- 19:09Trying so like it sees your degrees anyway, so like, I don't
- 19:13know what we've been talking. About so kids like Jordan, but
- 19:16like when, when that comes down to it and it's, it's I'll never,
- 19:20I'll never forget the one article I read about Christian
- 19:24McCaffrey and how he said if I didn't play those other sports,
- 19:29I wouldn't have been as good as I was because I it's it not only
- 19:34like I think it goes deeper than just how we resonate of lateral
- 19:40movement of reading balls of, of doing those things.
- 19:43Because. Jabba.
- 19:44Like to read? Balls.
- 19:45We all know that he likes to read a lot of balls like Jabba.
- 19:49That's but it. But it's it's everything tied
- 19:51together though, like. It's and it's clubhouses, it's
- 19:53locker rooms, right? It's all of that of being better
- 19:57when you're just in one, like in one dynamic, like you're only
- 20:02stuck in that in, I don't know if you saw this as much as I
- 20:06did, but like you knew the dudes that like either had it or
- 20:11didn't have it because like, obviously baseball's a little
- 20:15different. You'd get kicked out of high
- 20:16school. Well, they didn't have to be in
- 20:19an astronomy class to follow their, you know, their degree
- 20:23where they didn't care about baseball, they didn't care about
- 20:25football, they didn't care about basketball where you had to work
- 20:28with them. So you had to like get out of
- 20:30your comfort zone where you see these high school kids, that's
- 20:33all they know. They were living with mom and
- 20:35dad and now they're going to do this and they, you know, they
- 20:37just got a 7 figure contract as a signing bonus.
- 20:40So I did you ever notice like, like how people were different
- 20:45in that way? Yeah, I mean, I got that.
- 20:47And that's what I'm saying. Like the game is even changing
- 20:50now, right? Like because one of my buddies,
- 20:52he's a coach, I'm not going to say where I played with him in
- 20:56Buffalo. Now he coaches in the collegiate
- 20:58level, at a Division One collegiate level.
- 21:00And you know, he's going and he I, I saw him two weeks ago.
- 21:03I'm like, hey, brother, how how, how is it?
- 21:04He's like, bro, I can't coach these kids like they're making
- 21:08more money than me. Like what do you say to a 1819
- 21:12year old kid that feels like he knows everything about
- 21:15everything because he's making a couple $100,000?
- 21:17Like in his mind, that's I'm rich brother.
- 21:20Like I don't need you. Like I just go out here and play
- 21:23cover 4. And so now, now these kids are
- 21:26coming into the league. It's like, OK, if if I go to a
- 21:30school and I don't like it, I can just transfer.
- 21:32Well, the coach you're never going to get, you're never going
- 21:35to be able to coach a kid. Like the details of the game.
- 21:39Like there's so many details in the game of football that's
- 21:41missing from a lot of young kids coming into the game.
- 21:43Like it's like coaches are just telling them, hey, go out there
- 21:46and play cover two. OK, what does that mean?
- 21:49Like, where are my landmarks? What am I looking at?
- 21:51Where are my eyes supposed to be?
- 21:52What am I, what's my feet supposed to be?
- 21:53But no, the kid can run, jump, Sprint and he can do all that
- 21:57fast stuff to go out there and just play cover 2.
- 21:59You got to have to feel. There's so much more than just
- 22:03hey, go out there, play cover 2. You got to have to feel, you
- 22:06feel me like there's a lot deeper to level of understanding
- 22:09of the game within the game. And I'm sure you I mean, even
- 22:13baseball is a game within the game of baseball.
- 22:15Shit. The people don't necessarily
- 22:16see, you know, like that, that that aren't optically, you know,
- 22:20to the normal person who can't see there.
- 22:22And that's what I think is lacking in these new this new
- 22:25generation of nil, right? Like kids can just transfer.
- 22:29They don't ever have to like work to go get something.
- 22:32Oh, if I don't like it, I'm going to go over here to, you
- 22:34know, North Carolina. I just said that just because
- 22:37somebody said North Carolina earlier, I'm going to go here to
- 22:39North Carolina transfer. Sure it wasn't Bill Belichick's
- 22:42future wife. Not a respect for Coach Bill.
- 22:46So I ain't got nothing bad to say about Coach Bill.
- 22:48I'm. Not saying it, I'm just talking
- 22:50about his wife or his future wife.
- 22:52I got nothing bad to say about Coach.
- 22:54Bill. Oh, I'm trying to get it out of
- 22:55you. We are.
- 22:56Talking, Wayne. Wayne, we're not, we're not
- 22:58throwing anybody under the bus here.
- 22:59Let's we are doing that. We are talking to 12 year NFL
- 23:03vets. He played for the Eagles, the
- 23:04Browns, the Bills, the Dolphins, Jordan Poyer.
- 23:08Now Jordan, there's a lot of we've been going back and forth
- 23:11and we were kind of arguing what is the most important positions
- 23:15in football and I gave 5. We said obviously the
- 23:18quarterback, offensive tackle, defense, defensive line, you
- 23:22know, a pass rusher, a corner and a wide receiver.
- 23:25Those are the five most important positions.
- 23:28We feel that's why they get paid the most money.
- 23:30Now, if you gave us your top five in order, where would it
- 23:35go? We know quarterback would be
- 23:37where is #2 #3 #4 and #5. Big, I would say.
- 23:42Quarterback, I would say. I would say corner, I would say.
- 23:50Quarterback is 1. We've agreed on that.
- 23:52I'm, I'm, I'm, I, it's got to be a defender too.
- 23:55And I'm, I'm torn between a corner and a pass rusher.
- 24:00I think. I think it would be a pass
- 24:02rusher, somebody who can get. At #2.
- 24:04You're saying two at #2 Yeah. Interesting.
- 24:07Yeah. I'd say pass rusher, not a.
- 24:10Tackle. Not a tackle.
- 24:12I would put, I would put tackle. Saying an edge guy.
- 24:15An edge guy saying an edge. Guy, yeah, an edge guy.
- 24:17And then and that's very close to a tackle.
- 24:19Jake's going to be happy right now.
- 24:21That's very I would say that's very close to a tackle.
- 24:24So that's then three and you said there was obviously wide
- 24:29receiver corner and oh dude, because I would say I would say
- 24:35corner. I would say corner because like,
- 24:38OK, and this ain't gotten it. Like Josh has good receivers,
- 24:44you know, like he doesn't have nobody.
- 24:46That's like that's, you know, like you would consider like the
- 24:51great the top two in the league right now.
- 24:54I love, I love when we can do this, Jordan.
- 24:57And when we talked about this, we can get a 12 year vet that is
- 25:01questioning himself on what is the most important and he's been
- 25:05at the pinnacle of what he's played like.
- 25:07This is this is because. There's a lot to go.
- 25:09There's a lot to go. There's a lot that goes into it,
- 25:11right? You say the top five.
- 25:12I mean, that's fucking. The NFL.
- 25:16Six players short, they're all fucking you got.
- 25:18Yeah, all but Jordan guys got. But Jordan, these are the reason
- 25:21why we're saying that is because these are the most, these are
- 25:24the guys that are getting paid the most money.
- 25:26So when you're looking at it, the tackle, what the tackle does
- 25:30is protect the quarterback. If the quarterback doesn't have
- 25:32a good tackle, he can't get the ball off.
- 25:35And then you need a pass rusher to get at the quarterback.
- 25:37You need a dominant force there. And then you need a corner to
- 25:40stop anybody's number one wide receiver because he can ruin a
- 25:43game. So we've seen this before, but
- 25:46it it, it makes it so interesting in my eyes because I
- 25:50didn't play NFL football, but I've been around a lot of NFL
- 25:53players. I've been on many different
- 25:55football fields with a lot of great players.
- 25:58And I've asked them the same question.
- 26:00A lot of them tell me quarterback 1, tackle 2, pass
- 26:04rusher 3, corner four and then wide receiver 5.
- 26:08And then I've heard one quarterback 2, offensive tackle
- 26:133 corner, then pass rusher, then wide receiver.
- 26:16So a lot of them got kind of twist, but they the reason why
- 26:20me and Jake were going back, we have an intern who he believes
- 26:23that the pass rusher is the the second most important position.
- 26:27But here's. The thing I would it's arguable.
- 26:30But here's the here's the reason why I would I would go against
- 26:34that because if you don't have an offensive tackle, and we've
- 26:38seen it before, as we've seen Joe Burrow, look at what Joe
- 26:41Burrow has to has to deal with every single time he hikes that
- 26:44ball, he's got to deal with somebody trying to kill him and
- 26:47take his head off. How he gets the ball off is
- 26:49pretty incredible. But if you just had one good
- 26:51offensive tackle, the rest of the the rest of the whole line
- 26:55is like, you know, so then there's no point.
- 26:58If you had one dominant pass rusher who can go wreck a game,
- 27:05That's how I that's how I see like, okay, you got the best
- 27:07offensive tackle in the OR or yeah, left tackle in the game.
- 27:11But the your other your other boys right here, they are not
- 27:15very good. I'm just running games over here
- 27:17all day and like, I'll put, I'll put my my second or third string
- 27:22pass rusher out there against your best guy all day.
- 27:25Hey, go out there and yeah, go, go win against the best
- 27:27offensive tackle in the game. You get a sack against him, you
- 27:29don't get paid. But OK, now you have the best
- 27:33pass rusher in the game, even if it's the best pass rusher versus
- 27:35the best offensive tackle. I'll take my pass rusher all
- 27:38day, every day here. Gets the best tackle in the
- 27:41game. Here's how.
- 27:41I see. It here's how I'm going to argue
- 27:43with you, OK? You're going to double, you're
- 27:45going to double team them. But now, OK, I'm going to open
- 27:48it up in the right up the middle.
- 27:51That's the cat and mouse game that you got to.
- 27:52Play we got the 49ers right the 49ers for years have had Trent
- 27:56Williams right he's been the best tackle in the NFL that rest
- 27:59of the rest of that offensive line is doggy Doo Doo.
- 28:02I'm sorry, it is as Doo Doo as Nathan's blue blazer.
- 28:07OK, that's that's just as bad as his outfit that he wears.
- 28:10And we'll post that up so you can check it out.
- 28:12OK, It's as bad as that. All right.
- 28:14I honest to God, how many times have you seen a pass rusher get
- 28:20to any of the quarterbacks when Trent Williams is out there?
- 28:24It's very rare. And and that and and that gives
- 28:27I and A lot of people a bias here.
- 28:29Their quarterback. A lot of people think their
- 28:31quarterback is overrated, just got a lot of money.
- 28:33What are the what are most people saying arguing against
- 28:35that? I'm just.
- 28:36That point right there. Which one?
- 28:37What are most people when you when you bring up that point
- 28:39about Trent Williams in San Francisco 49ers and nobody
- 28:44getting to Brock Purdy, what are most people saying to counter
- 28:48that? Or is that the first?
- 28:49Is that the first time you brought that up?
- 28:50Oh, I've I've brought it up to many different people.
- 28:53Right. So and so where are there is
- 28:55anybody countering that or people you know, because the
- 28:57only thing I would say is like, right, like that offense is that
- 29:00entire offense is built around the run and play action.
- 29:04Oh, 100%. Yeah, right.
- 29:06And so like if you're able to run the football, which is what
- 29:09they want to do, which is why people are going to argue about
- 29:13Brock Purdy and like his ability to actually like come back from
- 29:17a game. Like you're down 14 games.
- 29:19Is Brock Pretty somebody that 14 points in the last five minutes
- 29:22in the game? Is Brock Pretty that somebody
- 29:24that you want to be able to lead your team down the field in the
- 29:28last, you know, to come back from 14 points?
- 29:30That's not how they, that's not their style of football.
- 29:33Their style of football is keeping the game close.
- 29:35They're going to ### they're going to fucking.
- 29:38They got George Kittle and they're going to ### then
- 29:41they're going to hit a play action.
- 29:42They're going to get the ball out of Brock Pretty's hands.
- 29:44Like style of so like, yeah, I mean you we go back, back and
- 29:47forth on this already. I'm not arguing with with you
- 29:50top five. No, there's the there's the blue
- 29:52blazer look. At that outfit.
- 29:54Right there is that wasn't it. Nathan.
- 29:56Nathan. That's the Nathan.
- 29:58Jordan. You could call him the Legend of
- 29:59the Leash. The Legend of the.
- 30:01Leash the legend of the leash. Oh, here it is.
- 30:02I'm putting you on a leash now. As we have a whole board of NIT
- 30:06right here. Breaking news, A lot of hot
- 30:08ladies, they call me the Ladies Man and Mr. Studio.
- 30:11I will say. To go I will.
- 30:13Say when you get a dude that puts his leg, when we get
- 30:17conversation. Glory hole.
- 30:20That becomes real because he was, he was sitting back just
- 30:24enjoying conversation and then when he got valued, invested in
- 30:29the conversation, leg went up, arm went over and Jordan was
- 30:34going in. Who end up being a one in this
- 30:36thing when? When you get that fan, trust me,
- 30:39I grew up in the hood. I my dad was in the prison for
- 30:4320. Seconds Jabba likes my shrimp
- 30:44cocktail. And when you went there, I was
- 30:47like, all right, this is this is gold like this, this is it.
- 30:51This I love Lisa and. I'm different than all these
- 30:55cats. I'm different.
- 30:56Oh yeah. He's different.
- 30:57You want to hear his sound. I could tell.
- 30:59Here's I could tell. Here's.
- 31:02What's up, brother? Hey, thank you for thank you my
- 31:05guy for joining the show. Thank you.

- 31:17Come on, I I know you saw my page before.
- 31:21We don't have to. We don't have to talk about that
- 31:23one time, bro. I don't know bro, but we hear
- 31:26though this is nice. It was good.
- 31:28Somebody. Somebody was spamming you off,
- 31:30Nathan. 'S I thought.
- 31:35I was coming into a psychedelic podcast and.
- 31:40Well, you know. Well, I would never do that to
- 31:42me. Yeah.
- 31:42I, I I. Was good.
- 31:43I was that's I was ready, but and then I saw the the YouTube
- 31:47clips about 20 minutes before I hopped in here and I was like,
- 31:51oh, this is when I thought I was.
- 31:53I, I worked with a tons. I actually, I worked with Johnny
- 31:56Manziel before. I've done stuff with a bunch of
- 31:59athletes that you know, in the in the league.
- 32:00Athletes, athletes. Oh, we got that drop right here.
- 32:07Jordan, what did you? Accidentally stumble onto
- 32:09different Instagram. What was it the no way, sorry.
- 32:12You know what it is? I think we, we shared one of his
- 32:15videos. I think you, you had a speaking
- 32:17engagement. I think we shared that video,
- 32:19remember? Pulled it out of my ass.
- 32:21Oh, you shared it and then I that's what it was.
- 32:24Yeah. And then you, you said thank you
- 32:26for sharing or something. OK, OK.
- 32:28This makes my pecker hard. Yeah.
- 32:31So good. Well, I appreciate you brother.
- 32:33I. Appreciate you.
- 32:35I got you man. Dude, no problem.
- 32:36Well, before we let you go, we do have a sound board and we
- 32:39like to have fun with it. So this is Jabba's sound.
- 32:41Sure you're ready to hear this? This is a really good one.
- 32:44Here we go. Here.
- 32:45It is at the rah rah shish kumba he tastes himself.
- 32:50I had to take a shit. I got the bubble guts.
- 32:52What about skid mark? I'll let you lick my butt.
- 32:55Pulled it out of my ass. This makes my pecker hard.
- 32:58Like I always gave up the booty. I wouldn't piss on him if he was
- 33:00on fire. I gave up the booty.
- 33:02As long as she's using dude wipes and taking care of my 2
- 33:05hole I'm good. You know what I'm I'm just a.
- 33:09Dude that you know, that's it. That's really like.
- 33:15Breaking news. My.
- 33:16My father raised me the right way.
- 33:18My father raised me the right way.
- 33:20I was like, I ain't no better than nobody else.
- 33:23I love, I love this shit. I love.
- 33:27And at the end of the day, I'm like, I get to talk sports with
- 33:31some of the greatest players and like, that is the coolest thing
- 33:35for me. And like getting to meet these
- 33:38guys and how this happened was crazy.
- 33:42Like now having you guys on and like having a different
- 33:46perspective. I've seen.
- 33:49And my son is literally a sophomore in college and I'm
- 33:54just, I'm not 40 yet. I'm almost there.
- 33:57My pinky is bigger than being able to play.
- 33:59It was like when I see certain things and like, I know dudes.
- 34:04I know dudes and we know them. And when you get comfortable and
- 34:08you start doing shit like this, you're like, all right, all
- 34:11right, we in here. We in here.
- 34:15Yes, Sir. I grew up different.
- 34:17I grew up different when we get in there.
- 34:20I like anal. Fun part about all we do.
- 34:24Jordan. You have been so great man.
- 34:28I've, I've watched your career and I appreciate you saying
- 34:32you've watched mine as well. But man, you know what it's,
- 34:35it's always one of those fun things to you.
- 34:37And you said this as well. It's like, I'm not worried about
- 34:40a week out having to go tackle somebody.
- 34:43And now it's like I got to go watch my son's game.
- 34:47Like I don't have to do that anymore.
- 34:49Well, because we've done what we've done, you know what I'm
- 34:52saying? Right.
- 34:53I didn't proud of that. I, I, I did what I did,
- 34:56especially laying 11. I let one go.
- 34:58I hopefully nobody smells it, but nevertheless, I, I, we
- 35:02really appreciate all the time that you gave us.
- 35:05Jordan, you stayed on a little bit longer than I think you
- 35:08wanted, but we're happy to keep you on.
- 35:10I mean, listen, Nathan was like, remember 20 minute mark 20?
- 35:14It's good. No, it's good.
- 35:16That's right on time. But we love.
- 35:19You around time I had I had a lot of fun, I really did.
- 35:21I had a lot of fun and you know, you know, let's let's do it
- 35:25again sometime maybe mid season we check back in with each
- 35:27other, see how see how those top five are.
- 35:31Coming all those yeah, yeah, I'm gonna.
- 35:32Have to read read. You know now that.
- 35:34We're evaluating. Reevaluate, see how the season
- 35:37goes, see how the game changes and we'll, we'll, we'll check
- 35:39back in. Including Errol's favorite left
- 35:41tackle that was your teammate Dion Dawkins.
- 35:43That's right, enjoy. Great.
- 35:45He's a He's a great, great motherfucking dude, man.
- 35:48Great motherfucker. I I I like a lot of different
- 35:50people, but not like you, Speedy.
- 35:52You like that sausage, as we all know.
- 35:55The dark, thick, salty sausage, right?
- 36:00Yes. See.
- 36:02See that Jordan? He likes it.
- 36:04He likes it. I didn't bring up size and you
- 36:06could. Actually not judging.
- 36:07I'm not judging. Jordan, we love you man.
- 36:11Keep up the hold on man. Hey before you go, how long do
- 36:15you think you're going to be side before you if you're going
- 36:17to make a decision or not? That's a good question.
- 36:20Just, you know, I have had multiple conversations with with
- 36:24the team and you know, the idea of me going to training camp
- 36:27just doesn't seem like I need to be banging my knees like that.
- 36:31And so, you know, I'm going to I'm going to stay in shape.
- 36:34I might need to put a little bit more armor on just in case.
- 36:37The idea of going out there and you know, if I'm on the practice
- 36:40squad, if I'm just helping around, I'm not sure what I'm
- 36:42going to make that idea. I am going to Brazil July 31st.
- 36:47I'm taking a retreat out there with my mom.
- 36:49I'm going to kind of sit with some of these thoughts and
- 36:51emotions a little bit to kind of see where I'm at and then make a
- 36:55decision after that. And so right now, again, I'm
- 36:57just where my feet is and, you know, I'm hanging on my daughter
- 37:00and my wife, so. That's dope.
- 37:02How old's your daughter? She's 88.
- 37:05Shit, my son's 19. Yeah, well, he's.
- 37:10He's causing me Gray hairs every day.
- 37:12Yeah, I'm probably, I'm pretty sure I'm probably not too far
- 37:15behind you. Yeah.
- 37:15Well, guess what? He's he's causing him Gray hairs
- 37:18and Jabba's causing me Gray hairs.
- 37:20So it kind of works in, you know, in every motion as.
- 37:23As emotion reach. Together as I want to just grab
- 37:26them like this, Jordan, grab them like this.
- 37:29Anyways, Jordan, we love you man, Keep up.
- 37:32The Yeah, appreciate you guys. Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:34We'll talk soon. Absolutely.
- 37:35Thank you so much. Appreciate you, bro.
- 37:37Yeah. Peace.
- 37:37Love. Jordan Poyer.
- 37:40Fantastic. Great.
- 37:41Interview. That was dope.
- 37:42That was dope. Good.
- 37:43Get knit. The knit man, as we all say he
- 37:47is couch, the couch of the show, as we all know it's it's a
- 37:51wonderful thing. Some people lost and some people
- 37:54aren't. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 37:56our next segment is tick tack. No tick, tick.
- 38:02Morris. Right in the butt.
- 38:05We get the prizes cheap because they're stolen.
- 38:09No, no, no, no, no, no. How wonderful.
- 38:19Isn't that like the no, it dragged, you know, somebody's
- 38:24got to let it go, somebody else. Great job guys.
- 38:26That was awesome. Look at Speedy over there.
- 38:28I mean the dancing sensation over there.
- 38:30I mean this guy, he just rocks on and then you see the back of
- 38:33my blonde ass head. It's it's always wonderful.
- 38:37Myth. Send me Jordan's number, would
- 38:39you? Number.
- 38:41Yeah. All right, well, let's let's.
- 38:45Well, we could do that after Let's let's all.
- 38:48Right, Speedy, start it up, man. All right, let's.
- 38:50Start. With the New York Jets, with the
- 38:52big news with the New York Jets, obviously Sauce Garner is the
- 38:54last is the most recent jet to be the highest paid you.
- 38:56Could join this. Player at his position?
- 38:59Who was the last? Who was the last Jets player
- 39:02before that to be the highest paid player at their position
- 39:04when they sign their contract? Say that again one more time,
- 39:07so. Obviously saw Scarter's the
- 39:09highest paid corner now who was the last Jet when they when he
- 39:11signed his contract to be the highest paid player at their
- 39:14position at the time. Brett Favre.
- 39:17Nope. Damn it, he wouldn't have been
- 39:20making top dollar at that point. Well, I thought they got him
- 39:24over here. Really.
- 39:25All right, well, I'm out. Who was the last jet at his?
- 39:30To be the top paid player at his position.
- 39:32By the. Jets Darrelle Revis Nope.
- 39:34No it. Wasn't Darrelle?
- 39:36Revis No, that was the obvious one.
- 39:38I was like, I wasn't, no. Revis was at the time, but
- 39:40there's somebody more recent. More recent than that.
- 39:44So Reavis goes back to like, all right, you said top page, that's
- 39:51like 2011, 2012. So it's going.
- 39:54To be highest paid in the entire league at his position.
- 40:00OK, it wasn't Mangold. It was who did they have?
- 40:02Was that good? Was it?
- 40:06It wasn't Sanchez. It wasn't.
- 40:10No, it wasn't Sanchez. I know Mark Sanchez.
- 40:14That's. Funny.
- 40:16Well, I'm just throwing names out at the All right, I've got a
- 40:19name for you. Brandon Marshall.
- 40:23Nope. Good guess though that.
- 40:25Was a pretty good guess. Offensive defence Polar.
- 40:29Defense. I think I know who it is.
- 40:30What do you got? CJ Moses, That's correct.
- 40:34Oh, of course, I remember 2019 and it was.
- 40:40It was a late sign, too. Yep, it was the highest paid
- 40:43middle linebacker for about a. Year.
- 40:45Yeah, it was. It was a late sign too.
- 40:48I think middle linebacker is the most underrated position in
- 40:51football. It's Levante.
- 40:52David has has been that in the same way after he had Derrick
- 40:57Brooks and Bear Rude. Yeah, Levante, David actually I
- 41:01think never was the highest pay, but he was always one of them.
- 41:04I think the guy, I think the one that took him over for a briefly
- 41:07was Deion Jones and then he got traded.
- 41:11And then I think middle Eric Errol, yeah.
- 41:13Let's go in. The middle, well, you know where
- 41:17lots of David went, right? Yes.
- 41:20You made that very clear, Betty. Time where he went.
- 41:22I wonder where he went. OK, let's move on.
- 41:25We'll go to the. MLBL and who?
- 41:26Who was before him too? It was bear rude.
- 41:29Bear Rude was pretty. Good.
- 41:31So yeah, All right, let's go move on.
- 41:33So the last time an All Star game went to the went to extra
- 41:37innings in 2018, the winning pitcher of the American League
- 41:41actually pitched. This year on the National League
- 41:43side, who wasn't? So that'd have been 2008. 2000
- 41:48and 1818. I don't even know who was on the
- 41:50roster for the National League I.
- 41:52Don't even it was 18. So the the winning pitcher for
- 41:56the American League was on the National League roster this year
- 41:58and pitched in the game. Blake Snell?
- 42:01Nope. No, it's Chris Snell.
- 42:02Hasn't been pitching all year and sells out.
- 42:05He's a kid. He's he's trying to answer.
- 42:08He's If that's his, that's his guess.
- 42:12That pitched pitched in the last one he.
- 42:15Pitched. That pitched it this year.
- 42:16He pitched in the National for the National League.
- 42:18Was the winning pitcher in 2018 for the AL for the American.
- 42:21League. So but he was in the.
- 42:26He pitched this year for the National League and he pitched
- 42:30in the game. And he's he was the winning
- 42:32pitcher in. 2018. In 18 so he would have came in
- 42:37late. I'll tell you right now if I saw
- 42:40the roster. It's a relief pitcher.
- 42:42It sounds like a relief pitcher. Yeah, it's it's always going to
- 42:46be a relief pitcher because nobody goes, nobody goes that
- 42:48far to even get that. Oh, man, Let me see.
- 42:51He's on my roster. Oh, I think I know who it is.
- 42:59Go for it. I'm not the I 18 would have been
- 43:07like 2 years after I retired. It was I'm like just blanking.
- 43:14Yeah, I'm, I'm not playing last night doing the same.
- 43:17Thing Aaron, you're in. You can make a guess.
- 43:18Just was it Edwin Diaz? He's.
- 43:20Right, there you go. Terrible.
- 43:23That was like his first or second year, I think I.
- 43:26Think it was his second year as a closer, it was his.
- 43:28First, like, really good. Year and then.
- 43:30He was. Yep.
- 43:31And then good guess that was the and.
- 43:32Then he was traded the next year to the Mets.
- 43:35Yeah. Obviously, Robin, I know it's
- 43:37either his first, second year I remember.
- 43:39I was going to say Chris Sale, well.
- 43:41I was in Sale, didn't play. That's where I was too.
- 43:44But he didn't play because he's hurt with a rib.
- 43:49All right, we'll give you goodies.
- 43:50Avatar Aaron, where do you want to go?
- 43:54Why don't we? Why don't we have avatars for
- 43:56them? Yeah.
- 43:57Where's the first one? The first.
- 44:00Ones in the middle, we got the middle, the middle.
- 44:01He always goes middle. He always goes middle.
- 44:04So then this left, middle, right where you had it, right?
- 44:07Yeah. There we go.
- 44:09All right, Speedy, ask us one of your harder questions if you
- 44:12want to survive. All right, so we'll go to my 1.
- 44:16Basketball 1. So when Mark Walter bought the
- 44:20Dodgers in 2012, the Lakers, after Kobe, their second leading
- 44:26scorer, was a big man who wasn't?
- 44:30In 2012 in. 2012 So Kobe was the leading scorer, who was the 2nd?
- 44:34I think I got it. Nobody got the team.
- 44:36Andrew Bynum. Oh, he does.
- 44:37He got it. Oh, I was going to guess that
- 44:40too. That's not a hard question,
- 44:42that. Was kind of a trick question
- 44:43though, because you would think Saul Dwight Howard was there at.
- 44:46The time but but speedy like there's only I was going to say
- 44:49Saul, there's like five of us guys.
- 44:52Well, wait a second, you if nobody knows the Lakers, they
- 44:55would have never gotten it because they would have said
- 44:57Lamar Odom or they probably would have said.
- 45:00Lamar. That's what it doesn't matter.
- 45:04That's what. But that was that was around
- 45:09Jabba, that was around the time so people would.
- 45:12Have, I know, but he's not going to give us the obvious answer.
- 45:18I thought it was easy, Speedy, you just gave.
- 45:20It was just a layup. What are you crying?
- 45:23About tonight what? Are you crying about over?
- 45:25There beer in Tic Tac. You didn't.
- 45:27Get it? The game is.
- 45:28Over that is all she wrote for the Speedster tonight.
- 45:37Hey, you're the one who said we need you to get Moon and down
- 45:40with Tic Tac. Now I did, and now he's crying
- 45:44about it. All right, ladies and gentlemen,
- 45:46we have another segment as we call this NF LS Whip around.
- 45:53Vote Whip. Whip.
- 45:55Whip, Whip. Around.
- 45:57All right, let's go. For it let's.
- 46:00Strike it out, baby. Is that is that speedy as the?
- 46:03Oh, there it is. That's a pretty good picture
- 46:05right there. It's a pretty good one job is
- 46:08giving Speedy a wedgie because Speedy is a zebra in this one
- 46:12and nobody likes the zebras in football.
- 46:15Guys, we got the new setup once again for this segment.
- 46:19We're going to switch this right here and for our whip around
- 46:23first story, which one should we start with?
- 46:29Oh, here's a really good one. The Bill Belichick.
- 46:33I went back and forth with Bob Kraft in the news yet again,
- 46:37because Bob Kraft, you know, tried to make it seem like, you
- 46:42know, Belichick, you know, it's it was Brady.
- 46:46It wasn't Belichick. Belichick was poison to Atlanta,
- 46:50so now he had to go to college. We know the drama's been going
- 46:53on for over a year, calendar year now.
- 46:56All this stuff with his girlfriend's side.
- 46:58Belichick says that people told him when he first went over to
- 47:02the pass, when he left The Jets high and dry, that that was a
- 47:06bad move. He should not do that, contrary
- 47:09to what Kraft was saying publicly recently.
- 47:13Is this ever going to end, Daryl?
- 47:14These two. No, I don't think it's ever
- 47:16going to end. There's a lot of reasons why
- 47:19Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft don't like each other.
- 47:21One main reason why is Robert Kraft had this love fest for his
- 47:26quarterbacks. He had a love fest for Bledsoe.
- 47:28And then when Brady came into the picture, he pushed Bledsoe
- 47:32out of the picture after he paid him $100 million and took on
- 47:36Brady and had had a love fest with him.
- 47:38He turned his back on Bill Belichick.
- 47:40As a matter of fact, that whole document that that documentary
- 47:45was pretty much to take shots at Bill Belichick and only Bill
- 47:48Belichick. Robert Kraft wanted to blame the
- 47:51whole, the whole situation with Aaron Hernandez on Bill
- 47:54Belichick and didn't want to take responsibility that Robert
- 47:58Kraft wanted to keep him on that roster until the story came out.
- 48:01Bill Belichick is absolutely the mastermind of that organization.
- 48:06He built that organization to a championship team.
- 48:09Should have he left? Should have he left, left the
- 48:12New York Jets high and dry the way he did?
- 48:15No, he had the opportunity to take over a Jets organization
- 48:19that obviously Leon Hess wasn't there and Woody Johnson was
- 48:22there. But he had a chance to take the
- 48:25reins, take control of that organization, become the GM
- 48:29because that's what Woody Johnson was going to let him do,
- 48:32take over and and decide where he wanted to go in the draft the
- 48:36way he did with the Patriots at the tail end of his career.
- 48:39I, I honestly, Robert Kraft is a hater.
- 48:41He doesn't want to give him any credit.
- 48:43He thinks Tom Brady's the greatest.
- 48:44Good for him. Tom Brady is a great.
- 48:46Quarterback. But here's the thing behind A
- 48:50great quarterback is a great coach, and Bill Belichick was
- 48:56the voice of reason. Did Peyton Manning have a?
- 48:59Great coach. Robert Kraft is saying it if
- 49:01they would have won with just Tom Brady.
- 49:04Who drafted Tom Brady? Bill Belichick.
- 49:06Who took her a hunch on Tom Brady in the sixth round?
- 49:09Bill Belichick? What offense Jabba did Tom Brady
- 49:13run when he went to the Buccaneers?
- 49:16Bill Belichick's offense. Bill Belichick is the mastermind
- 49:20of that Patriots. Championship game.
- 49:22And he's doing it right now in North Carolina.
- 49:24He went to the Buccaneers now with Bruce Arians offense.
- 49:27His first seven games when he was with the Buccaneers, he ran
- 49:32Bruce Arians offense. They were not winning in the
- 49:36second-half of the season. They went to Bill Belichick's
- 49:40offense, and when he did that, they started winning.
- 49:44So here we go guys. The next one that I have is a
- 49:48really strange one that I did not even know was still the
- 49:52case. Did you know the Commanders had
- 49:55not retired Art Monks Jersey even though he was put into the
- 49:59Hall of Fame in 2008? So Josh Harris, new owner of the
- 50:03Commanders. We all know Daniel Schneider,
- 50:06former owner of the Commanders, one of the most reprehensible
- 50:10humans to own a team in any sports since probably since
- 50:14what's his face on the Clippers all those years ago, I think.
- 50:19Snyder. Snyder was worse.
- 50:20Snyder might have been if you're saying that he's worse than that
- 50:23guy or they made a terrible show about him.
- 50:26Using the cheerleaders to draw fans and draw players to come
- 50:30and play for his his team, Yeah, I think he was worse.
- 50:34Wild stuff with that, but I don't know what the beef was.
- 50:38But you tell me because I remember at least because I
- 50:42wasn't born at the when they were winning those championships
- 50:44or as a little kid. But I'm pretty sure the Redskins
- 50:47won three titles and Art Monk was part of all of them with
- 50:50three different quarterbacks, with Art Monk being the steady
- 50:53receiver. He retired as the leader in
- 50:56yards before it was broken by Jerry Rice and he got into the
- 51:01Hall of Fame in 2008. Too late.
- 51:03Many people thought it took 13 years from the end of Hall of
- 51:06Fame. But why in God's name did it
- 51:09take till 17 years after that for them to retire the jersey?
- 51:14What clowns and why? I think Snyder, I think Snyder's
- 51:17behind did. Snyder didn't really like Art
- 51:20Monk, and Art Monk knew behind behind the scenes what Snyder
- 51:23was doing. He actually was on how many
- 51:26shows and how many television shows coming out when they were
- 51:28asking about Snyder and his ownership and and what he's done
- 51:32for the organization since he's taken over as an owner.
- 51:34And he he laughed out. He says, what have we won?
- 51:37What have we won since ownership has transitioned into him.
- 51:40And when he said that, I think it affected his connection and
- 51:45his opportunity to be to be inducted into the Commanders
- 51:49Hall of Fame that 17. Years later and not that long
- 51:52that he was the owner of the team.
- 51:53It's not like Art Monk was a 2008 player like he was a Hall
- 51:58of Famer like this was saying at that time, playing it in the 80s
- 52:02and the 90s and playing at a high level as their number one
- 52:05receiver. And our and our Monk is
- 52:07considered one of the top 7 wide receivers of all time and you
- 52:11don't put them in your team's Hall of Fame.
- 52:13What a joke. And again, that leaves leaves
- 52:16you to believe that Schneider has really affected some of the
- 52:21the former athletes, some of the former players that want to come
- 52:25back and want to support what the commanders are doing, but
- 52:28they don't want to the way they were treated, the way Schneider
- 52:31treated him when when he was owning the team.
- 52:34And our Monk is no longer going to have to deal with Dan
- 52:37Schneider because there's a new owner there in Harris who owns
- 52:41the Devils and owns the 76ers. And he's a very well respected
- 52:45owner. Harris is the kind of guy that
- 52:47understands he's an enthusiast, he's a football enthusiast.
- 52:51He understands what the game is and what the game should be.
- 52:54Responding respected should be absolutely prosecuted for what
- 52:59he is Art Monk and his ability to to be looked at as one of the
- 53:04greatest position players at command in Commanders history.
- 53:08It's like the Yankees not honoring Andy Pettit in any kind
- 53:11of way. That's how good Art Monk was, in
- 53:13my opinion. So if we move on to a similar
- 53:16topic with the Commanders, they have a guy that feels like
- 53:21they're getting disrespected in Terry Mclaurin, who's, as we
- 53:25know, top receiver on their team.
- 53:28Ohio State guy was a Speedy was a second or third.
- 53:31Round third round patch. Third round pick.
- 53:34People sold him short. He's been excellent every single
- 53:38year he's been a league, especially last year.
- 53:40Here's a quote from him with how the market is today.
- 53:43It conveys what guys of my caliber deserving of.
- 53:46I feel I fit in that box because of how I've carried myself on
- 53:49and off the field. I don't want to feel like you
- 53:51have to beg for someone to see your worth and value everything
- 53:55in previous regimes and now I've done everything asked of me.
- 53:59Why then if he doesn't have a stigma still attached to him
- 54:03from being a third round pick? Would a guy who had 82
- 54:06receptions, 1096 yards and a career best 13 touchdowns be
- 54:12disrespected with a contract if it wasn't some lingering stigma
- 54:16of how how athletic he was coming out?
- 54:19It's pretty simple. What can what he say?
- 54:21Tara Mclaurin should absolutely make the money.
- 54:24If you look at Garrett Wilson and what Garrett Wilson is
- 54:26making, he has not done it as well as Terry Mclaurin has done
- 54:31it. And as long as Terry Mclaurin
- 54:33has done it, I think Terry Mclaurin absolutely is right.
- 54:36I think he should be a little bit more respected by the
- 54:39organization that he decided to stay with.
- 54:42He could have walked. He could have said, you know
- 54:44what, when his contract was up, what was it 2 years ago, he had
- 54:50an opportunity to go anywhere he wanted.
- 54:53And he says, I want to be a commander for life.
- 54:55And now that his contract's up and he's putting up numbers with
- 54:58Jaden Daniels and he has a chance to be a number one with a
- 55:01real quarterback, you should pay him we real wide receiver money.
- 55:06Mclaurin is right. He's the number one guy there.
- 55:09He should be paid like it. Here's the case with Terry
- 55:11Mclaurin, I think with the most recent rumor, I think 35,000,000
- 55:15a year is what he was asking for, which is about what CD Lamb
- 55:17got last year. So I I can see where
- 55:19Washington's kind of having pushed back, there's ways to
- 55:21manipulate this cap now where you could either give a higher
- 55:23percentage of guaranteed money or you could front load or front
- 55:27load it now and back loaded later because the commanders
- 55:30have cap space. That's where Mclaurin has a good
- 55:32gripe with this. It's the most cap space they've
- 55:34had in a while. They don't have to pay Jane
- 55:35Daniels for a while. I think.
- 55:36It's all right. I think Mclaurin absolutely
- 55:39deserves the contract. Terry Mclaurin should get the
- 55:42contract. Garrett Wilson got the contract.
- 55:44He's the number one guy. Mclaurin has his number one wire
- 55:48number one quarterback. Now they bring in weapons to
- 55:51help him out. It's going to open.
- 55:53We've got the Chiefs making Trey Smith the highest paid guard in
- 55:58the NFL fell obviously, remember they moved on from some key
- 56:03players. They've had trouble along the
- 56:05line. They had injuries last year.
- 56:08It cost them finally in the Super Bowl when they had to put
- 56:11Joe Tooney out at tackle up against Josh Sweat and he ate
- 56:15him for lunch. It was an all pro guard guards,
- 56:18tackles obviously different position at the NFL caliber.
- 56:22This is a position I did play. I do have some experience on
- 56:25this right. Just not as good in space to
- 56:26tackle a guard prospect is going to be a little bit less of a
- 56:29lateral move or more of a power guy that can just beat up the
- 56:32guys inside. The guys have to take on Dexter
- 56:34Lawrence, for example. You want those to have some deal
- 56:37to move people. So Trey Smith is now the highest
- 56:39paid guy in the league, except I don't think he's the best guard
- 56:44in the league. Speedy.
- 56:45I I think he's good, not great. No, he's and it's kind of
- 56:49curious. He's not the best overall, but
- 56:50he's still young enough I think to warrant that.
- 56:52I think Chris Lindstrom was the previously highest paid guard
- 56:55and and maybe at the time I didn't know if Atlanta, he
- 56:57didn't deserve it at that time being the highest paid over Zach
- 57:00Martin and Quinton Nelson. But it's the highest paid for a
- 57:03younger guard and maybe Trey Smith's that next level of it.
- 57:05I think Lindstrom's probably a little better than he is, but
- 57:08that's the market. And if the Chiefs are going to
- 57:09trade Tony like they did and all these other pieces, they had to
- 57:12make this work. Best guard and Tony went to
- 57:14Chicago and now Tony has a chance to succeed with a coach,
- 57:19a new coach in Ben Johnson. Tony was the best guard in the
- 57:23NFL when he was over there in Kansas City.
- 57:26He won a Super Bowl over there with Kansas City.
- 57:29Since Tony has been moved to Chicago and they decided to pay
- 57:34Trey Smith, are they going to win another Super Bowl?
- 57:37And here's another fact with the Kansas City Chiefs.
- 57:41The Kansas City Chiefs are not even expecting expected to win
- 57:44the Super Bowl in the AFC this year.
- 57:46They're not even favored. So now you're paying a guy,
- 57:49you're overpaying a guard that is not even the best guard.
- 57:52He's not even a top five guard right now in the NFL.
- 57:55More money than you could have paid a younger guard that has
- 57:59much more talent and much more opportunity to be an elite guard
- 58:05for the Kansas City Chiefs. Overpaying a guy that you trust
- 58:08or Patrick Mahomes, you don't pay a guard that kind of money.
- 58:11You pay a tackle that kind of money.
- 58:13I think it was a big mistake. This is a bad move for a guy
- 58:16like Andy Reed because Andy Reed is trying to compete in an AFC
- 58:20that is going to now he's got a, he's got a division.
- 58:23He's got to worry about the Chargers and Jim Harbaugh, the
- 58:26Broncos and Sean Payton. You're not going to be the beast
- 58:30of the East anymore. You're not going to be the beast
- 58:33of the AFC because again, Buffalo's expected to be better,
- 58:37Baltimore's expected to be better.
- 58:39And now you're looked at as a third or fourth team in the AFC
- 58:43and you're going to pay a guy and overpay a guard that's not
- 58:46even a top five guard in the NFL.
- 58:48And you let tuning go to Chicago for nothing.
- 58:52I, I, I think it's a bad move. This might and it's not going to
- 58:55set him back because you have one of the best quarterbacks in
- 58:58the NFL that can actually hide the deficiencies of an offensive
- 59:02line. Again, I want to see what
- 59:05they're going to do in the draft.
- 59:06Next year, I think the decision Jabba is because Trey Smith's a
- 59:09big guy and he's like an elite, elite run blocker.
- 59:12PFF has him as the 7th ranked guard coming into the league
- 59:15this year. Obviously a really good player,
- 59:19but a run first guy. Now, the Chiefs haven't been
- 59:21known for their run game so speedy, it makes me think that
- 59:25if they're going to pay him instead of Tooney, it's because
- 59:28they want to change their offense to be more run first so
- 59:32Patrick Mahomes doesn't have to run for his life every frickin
- 59:34play. Eventually, his luck's going to
- 59:36run out. Who's running the ball?
- 59:38Who's the number 11 receiver? Who's the number one running
- 59:40back? I know Isaiah Pacheco, but
- 59:42Pacheco can't stay healthy. And Pacheco is not a number one.
- 59:45He's a 1B. If you're an average running
- 59:47back team, having one of the best run blocking guards in the
- 59:51league makes sense to try to open up the holes wider for you.
- 59:54So I do think that's the logic, but if that's going on, that
- 59:57would be a departure from what they do.
- 1:00:00And it's curious to me, because to me that team should be pass
- 1:00:03proing. He should be airing it out.
- 1:00:05He's got Rashi. Rice is apparently ahead of
- 1:00:07schedule coming back from the ACLII DO or the LCL, whatever it
- 1:00:11was that he heard. Multiple.
- 1:00:13Things it was LCL in like the hamstring.
- 1:00:15Tendon or something? Before he got hurt.
- 1:00:16So yeah, and it was Patrick or Mr. Holmes himself that hurt him
- 1:00:20on that friendly fireplace. So.
- 1:00:23But anyway, guys, that's all the news this week on the NFL will
- 1:00:27whip around. Anyways, thank you to all the
- 1:00:29fans listening us to Apple, Spotify, Apple Spotify video.
- 1:00:34Thank you to all of them, all the people out there listening
- 1:00:38to us throughout the country. We really appreciate you guys,
- 1:00:41TikTok, Apple, Facebook, Twitter X, YouTube, all the platforms.
- 1:00:47We really appreciate you guys. And, and again, we, what we try
- 1:00:50to do is try to give you guys a different take in sports, a
- 1:00:53different, you know, fun outlook to what sports are.
- 1:00:58Thank you to Thomas for joining us as well.
- 1:00:59He's fantastic. And, and, and by the way, keep
- 1:01:02tuning into a speedy. Do we have anything lined up
- 1:01:04next? Week.
- 1:01:05I got both guests already set for Monday, 8:45.
- 1:01:07Our first guest will be Jamie Wimborn, former 49ers
- 1:01:10linebacker. Play for a couple of other teams
- 1:01:11as well, and he'll be out at 8:45 and then at 9:30 joining
- 1:01:15us. He's been on our show a lot.
- 1:01:16Our friend Matt O'Leary, a New York Jets analyst.
- 1:01:18Oh yes, Matt's going to join us and he's a Jake asmin enthusiast
- 1:01:23as he's been on his show quite a few times.
- 1:01:25So it'll be Matt when he comes on a show.
- 1:01:27I don't really mention Jake, but he he knows I know my my jets
- 1:01:32and and he kind of takes a step back and kind of has a little
- 1:01:36bit of fun with us. He's not like, you know, he's
- 1:01:40not really, he's like in between the Jake Asman personality and
- 1:01:45our kind of takes. And he's an Islander guy, too.
- 1:01:47So I definitely want to hear what he thinks about the
- 1:01:49Islanders draft and where the Islanders went in free agency
- 1:01:53this offseason. So interesting.
- 1:01:55Interesting. And that's a really good guy,
- 1:01:57too. So we got to get him to come and
- 1:01:59hang out with us because he lives in Long Island.
- 1:02:02So interesting. Anyways, thank you to fans.
- 1:02:05We will be back next week Monday and Wednesday.
- 1:02:08Until then, this is jopping them out saying goodnight.
