- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome live to the Big Play Cleveland Show Happy Friday, Jack O'Ruch alongside Cleveland Brown's on SI Insider Nick Padoan and Chris, three-flog McNeill, as always, starting off the Cleveland headline segment presented by a smart choice, best guys.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: I was at the bar last night, so it was a little bit weird, like the direct TV wasn't getting upright away with the Netflix connection, but it appears we did eventually get football on Miles Garrett, his first action as a Los Angeles Ram.
- 0:25[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, your thoughts on the clunker produced by 95.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, underwhelming wasn't not I mean Miles Garrett complete no show.
- 0:33[SPEAKER_04]: He is on a milk carton in Australia.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_04]: He's on a milk carton in Los Angeles.
- 0:38[SPEAKER_04]: Everybody's trying to find out where is Miles Garrett.
- 0:41[SPEAKER_04]: He didn't play much in that game yesterday under 40 defensive snaps and five pressures.
- 0:48[SPEAKER_04]: That's it.
- 0:49[SPEAKER_04]: No actual stats recorded four miles Garrett in his Rams debut.
- 0:54[SPEAKER_04]: I do wonder how much of that was.
- 0:58[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to say by design, but Miles Garrett looked like a guy that hadn't practiced all summer because Miles Garrett has not practiced for the Los Angeles Rams all summer.
- 1:08[SPEAKER_04]: When you look past some of the gobbling cook that the Rams are trying to put out there about, you know, the data research and the sleep science that they did about, you know, the travel decision to leave
- 1:20[SPEAKER_04]: Los Angeles for Australia 28 hours before the game.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_04]: Okay, that's a 16 hour flight.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_04]: You're only given your body 12 hours before you're playing a very high stakes professional football game Common logic would tell you it's not going to go your way and it didn't go.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, they ran away.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_04]: They completely punted it and I think they kind of punted miles debut with LA.
- 1:43[SPEAKER_04]: Now as, you know, as a, you know, show here that covers the browns
- 1:50[SPEAKER_04]: I do wonder if...
- 1:52[SPEAKER_04]: The Ram's greatness was maybe a bit overstated.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_04]: Now you look at the sportsbooks, you look at the prediction markets.
- 1:59[SPEAKER_04]: The Ram's are still the odds on betting favorite to win the Super Bowl, and the next couple of teams aren't really even that close.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_04]: So oddsmaker is really aren't panicking after that week one showing, but as somebody that owns that 2027 first round pick, I certainly don't mind seeing Owen won.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_04]: Next to the Los Angeles Ram's name,
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: Standings.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, where do you sit on Miles Garrett coming out and having the game that he did last in?
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Are you disappointed for Miles or as a Browns fan, are you a little bit, where there's some Andrew Berry, ladies or eyes going around on the group chat last night?
- 2:34[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, first of all, that game overall didn't have the feel kind of of a preseason game.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_01]: I was taking a world cup.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_02]: It was just kind of weird.
- 2:43[SPEAKER_02]: And I understand it's been in Australia.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_02]: You got it on Netflix there.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_02]: But even the way that the team's played, you know, at the end of that game, the ramps in theory had a chance to come back in that game.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_02]: And we're trying to give it a little bit of an effort.
- 2:54[SPEAKER_02]: And then all of a sudden, they're like, now, you know what, we're going to pull staffer.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to pull, put Stenson Bennett in there.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_02]: Why not give him some reps?
- 3:02[SPEAKER_02]: This game really doesn't matter.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_02]: We've lost at this point.
- 3:04[SPEAKER_02]: And I understand that, but you normally don't see that.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_02]: in an NFL game that matters, usually these guys go all the way to the wall, all the way throughout the game, and they just kind of gave up at the end, and the effort throughout was not very inspired at all, you know, especially when you talked about Miles Garrett there.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, that's something we've seen a little bit in Cleveland to be fair, right?
- 3:25[SPEAKER_02]: We've seen games where he disappears, and then he'll come back in another game and have five sacks, right?
- 3:29[SPEAKER_02]: And you go, oh my god, he's unbelievable.
- 3:32[SPEAKER_02]: What a monster!
- 3:33[SPEAKER_02]: And then other times you look at it on the field and say, this is third down, where's Miles Garrett at?
- 3:38[SPEAKER_02]: We expect them to be down there.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_02]: So I think LA is getting a taste of some of the things that we saw on the negative side.
- 3:44[SPEAKER_02]: But those get a taste.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, there's no doubt about it.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to see the Miles Garrett where he goes out and has an outstanding game.
- 3:50[SPEAKER_02]: And eventually LA is going to be like, oh my god, we won this trade.
- 3:54[SPEAKER_02]: It's unbelievable.
- 3:55[SPEAKER_02]: What was Cleveland thinking?
- 3:56[SPEAKER_02]: Right now we're at the low end of that.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_02]: And I think we're going to see a lot more.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_02]: be underwhelming from Miles Garrett throughout the season and what we do overwhelming.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_02]: I think overall because I don't know that his heart is in it the same way it was.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_02]: It seems like last year when he set the record, that was really a goal he was looking for.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_02]: And now he's looking at, okay.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_02]: How do I play out the back half of my career?
- 4:17[SPEAKER_02]: Hey, going out to LA, that's not a bad landing spot for me to kind of move on to whatever the next chapters look like for Miles Garrett so I wasn't particularly surprised.
- 4:27[SPEAKER_02]: I thought maybe he'd really want to go out and give that A plus effort.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_02]: He didn't have it.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_02]: He may be a little bit injured who knows certainly last night.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_02]: And it'll be interesting to see if this is the effort we see out of Miles Garrett or whether we see what we saw in Cleveland.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_04]: Chris, it sounds like he is definitely injured and that's one of the bizarre things about this because, you know, there was a tangible reason as to why he didn't practice the entire off season he says after the game that that was the worst version of himself.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_04]: Betty's ever put on display and I really do wonder just watching him with my own two eyes.
- 5:06[SPEAKER_04]: Is the three four scheme something that's really going to work for Miles Garrett because he just didn't look right standing up, trying to rush the pass or versus, you know, here in the fourth three with Jim Schwartz and that wide nine, he was so accustomed to playing with his hand in the dirt and Jayden.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_04]: Jayden, Jayden Clowney was the guy that said it out loud,
- 5:30[SPEAKER_04]: really set everything up for miles to get his numbers, to be a game-racking pass, you know, rusher.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_04]: Like everything was set up for him very favorably here in Cleveland.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_04]: And the first glimpse into how Chris Schul is going to use him in that Rams defense, certainly not the same.
- 5:50[SPEAKER_04]: And obviously Chris, I agree with you.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_04]: He's gonna have his moments, especially when Aaron Donald sued it up next to him.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_04]: The Rams are gonna win a bunch of games At the end of the day, there's going to be a moment in late December when the Rams are playing meaningful football and Miles Garrett's getting national TV sacks And the Browns are debating what college football quarterback they're going to select in the coming April draft Well, like then it'll really sting so for today we really do have to relish in the fact that it didn't go great and and
- 6:20[SPEAKER_04]: And we definitely maybe could see a path where the Browns aren't drafting 30 seconds over all with that Rams Bay.
- 6:28[SPEAKER_02]: I picture the mean the Wolverine meme right now of Miles Garrett with Jim Schwartz in the picture right because he's pining right now for those days.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_02]: I think after seeing like you said, he looked uncomfortable there with the Rams.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_02]: It was a little weird seeing the Netflix presentation seen linebacker next to his name up there.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_02]: it's a little bit different for Miles Garrett now a different world and he's going to have to figure his way through it because like he said in Cleveland he was upset Jim Schwartz didn't end up getting the bed gig right and he really flourished under Jim Schwartz and now he's far away from that he's out now laying he's got to find his way again I've got one for you and I know Jim Schwartz is you know still technically under contract here with the Browns and they didn't let him out of that contract that whole thing Chris who was crazy
- 7:15[SPEAKER_04]: Chris Shula is probably going to be a head coach.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_04]: He was getting head coach interviews this past cycle.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_04]: And then the Rams will be looking for a defensive coordinator.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_04]: What would what in Jim Schwartz make a little bit of sense to over the after this is only one year left?
- 7:31[SPEAKER_04]: I mean at that point maybe they could work something out.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_04]: I believe there's actually two years left, but after the first year,
- 7:40[SPEAKER_04]: it becomes a maybe a little bit easier to win some trades.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_02]: Jim Schwartz sort of more of their draft picks down here.
- 7:45[SPEAKER_02]: Can we already say, no, we'll remember that.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_04]: We learned we learned in the collective bargaining agreement.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_04]: You actually can't trade coordinators.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_04]: You could only trade head coaches.
- 7:54[SPEAKER_04]: So let's do it.
- 7:56[SPEAKER_04]: I don't like that rule.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_02]: Nick, next thing I want to ask you about the way the rules work these days.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_02]: If you don't like it, just change it.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_02]: Just press it and then find a judge somewhere.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_02]: We'll be right.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_01]: We see LinkedIn again here in a gerrymandering couple things.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: If we can get whatever we need to happen to happen.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, lobes leads our guy max, a little bit out of tweet last night.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_01]: That was pretty funny.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: We are one Jared verse sack away on Sunday from some of the funniest, most over reactionary week one takes.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: You could ever imagine.
- 8:22[SPEAKER_01]: And while that may be the case, what you need to see at a Jared verse on Sunday, flipping it over to the Browns a little bit.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: So it started to feel good about, hey, we made our
- 8:30[SPEAKER_04]: No, I already feel really good about this trade guys just because Miles Garrett is 30 years old like what Chris said I wasn't surprised that it looked like that.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_04]: That's a 30 year old pass russia that did not practice all summer and if he's banged up and is if he's admitting that he's banged up in week one I don't know what it's gonna look like
- 8:50[SPEAKER_04]: Like, where's I've watched Jared verse out there with my own two eyes in Bury All Summer?
- 8:54[SPEAKER_04]: That guy's in Animal.
- 8:55[SPEAKER_04]: He gets after the quarterback.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_04]: He was really making Spencer Fano's rookie season kind of miserable until that fight that they had.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_04]: And then that really woke something up in Spencer.
- 9:06[SPEAKER_04]: So I think
- 9:07[SPEAKER_04]: Inverse is already kind of making his hey here in Cleveland from a leadership perspective certainly but also on the field I do believe he's going to have a big opportunity and the Browns are going to need him to be good on this defensive line because that Alex Wright injury is going to be a big one like Isaiah McGuire and Jaredverse are going to be your two past rushers with Malate Collins.
- 9:29[SPEAKER_04]: as well as Mason Graham on the interior of that defense of line, and I think there's going to be a lot of attention, Jack too, on Mason Graham just because we're playing the Jag Wars, and we drafted him with the Jag Wars pick, and Travis Hunter is going to be playing for their defense.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_04]: So there is going to be a lot of things to look at in this game.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_04]: If Jared Vs doesn't get his sack in the opener, and we don't get to all make our memes.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_04]: Whatever it is, what it is, we'll have another opportunity to watch Miles Garrett in prime time week two Monday night football against the New York Giants.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_04]: So, Miles is getting right back into prime time and all eyes are going to be on this trade yet again.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_02]: Nick, the best ability is availability, and that's what you get with Jared, verse that you don't necessarily always get with Miles Garrett.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to play more slap snaps.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to have more opportunities on the field.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see him throwing a nothing burger like Miles Garrett did.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_02]: And certainly he's a young guy.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_02]: So he's going to have his ups and downs too.
- 10:26[SPEAKER_02]: But I'm with you as soon as he gets that first sack.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_02]: Of course, I'll be hitting send on something as well.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody else on Twitter and around Cleveland.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_02]: But for right now, I just say, let's be patient with the kid.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_02]: I think in the long term, we're going to end up winning this trade with L.A.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_02]: no matter what.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_02]: I really feel good about it.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_02]: I feel good about what we ended up doing there.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_02]: And I'm feeling good about what that draft pick could be.
- 10:52[SPEAKER_02]: If it goes the other way for the Ramses season, although I'd also don't see that coming, because I think the Rams had got a lot of talent on that ball club.
- 11:00[SPEAKER_01]: It's time to find out if the Browns are going to start off the Jared verse era on the right foot this Sunday.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_01]: Chris with the Jaguars down in Duval County,
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: We had the chance this morning.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_01]: I was walking around the big playoffs.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: Ryan's got some cool graphics coming out this weekend, getting everyone's score predictions.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't gotten your guys yet, obviously, but I've gotten four or five so far.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_01]: And the biggest thing I keep hearing or seeing over and over again is only one person has picked the Browns to eclipse 20 points this weekend.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: And a lot of that isn't part two.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: The guy who's shooting up at quarterback for the Browns week one, Sean Watson.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: What do you guys think constitutes a successful week one for the Sean Watson down in Jacksonville?
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: Against a team who in the past, he's had a lot of success against.
- 11:38[SPEAKER_02]: There's a couple of factors here when you look at the jag wires that really stood out to me that they were able to accomplish last year that I think doesn't set up well or bowed well for the Cleveland Browns.
- 11:47[SPEAKER_02]: The first is they had the second most takeaways in the league.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_02]: So they're gonna cause a lot of turnover and that's why they want a lot of games, right?
- 11:56[SPEAKER_02]: You always see the teams that do well at the margins with the giveaway takeaways.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_02]: They were one of the tops of the takeaways.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_02]: They're also good against the run.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_02]: So, between the two of those things, that doesn't vote well, particularly for Dishon Watson, because if we cannot run the ball, and I'm hoping we do.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_02]: I hope I'm with Quinton with Quinton Judkins that we're able to push it and be able to move the ball down the field on the ground.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_02]: But if we can't, then that's going to force Dishon Watson to throw the ball a little bit.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_02]: And the Jaguars, they can take the ball away from us.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_02]: So, that's going to set up for what could be a long day.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_02]: So, we got to be able to run the ball a little bit.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_02]: I want to see this offensive line.
- 12:32[SPEAKER_02]: I know there's a lot of questions up front with that offensive line.
- 12:36[SPEAKER_02]: We got an injury right now with the flying jays in there.
- 12:39[SPEAKER_02]: But this offensive line has got to be able to do their part.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, it's going to create a long day for this offensive and a really long day for to show on Watson.
- 12:47[SPEAKER_02]: Nick, what do you need to see out of Forens on the?
- 12:50[SPEAKER_04]: Can you game manage?
- 12:51[SPEAKER_04]: It is really that simple for me.
- 12:53[SPEAKER_04]: Could you keep the car on the road?
- 12:55[SPEAKER_04]: Like that's the one thing that the Browns absolutely have to do in my mind is just try to make life as easy as humanly possible on to Sean Watson because it's when they start to trust them.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_04]: that things go awry um it's when they start to let him push that football down field things go awry and we saw it in the preseason like against Chicago you walked away from that sand well he didn't really do anything but but at least we got out of the game
- 13:23[SPEAKER_04]: I hate to say that that's how I'm going into a week one.
- 13:26[SPEAKER_04]: I would love to go into a week one with a new head coach and Casey Conception and Denzel Boston in this new rebuilt offensive line and say let's score some points.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_04]: Let's run it up.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_04]: Let's see what this thing can do.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_04]: But I don't trust the guy that's under center.
- 13:40[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think they should trust
- 13:41[SPEAKER_04]: the guy that's under center and I think they should try to dump things down as much as humanly possible.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_04]: Let it be dinking dunk if it's checked out in city like the Buffalo Bill's defense was chirping at the browns in that joint practice.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_04]: That might be okay for one week and try to get the hell out of there with a win into Tampa for week two.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_04]: Because week ones are weird.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_04]: Like if you're ever going to pick the browns, week one could be a time to do it because week ones are strange and weird things happen every season.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, you talked a bit about being a game manager.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, I want to ask you first, then Nick, get your 1 to 10 confidence level.
- 14:17[SPEAKER_01]: If Deshawn Watson has a game on Sunday, let's say it's similar to how Julian Sayon played against Texas last year.
- 14:23[SPEAKER_01]: Like I'm talking below 150 passing yards, maybe no turnovers throws a touchdown, offense scores, 17ish points, and you win.
- 14:32[SPEAKER_01]: Say the defense looks good.
- 14:34[SPEAKER_01]: What 1 to 10, where's your confidence in this Brown's team moving forward?
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: If Deshawn puts out that kind of an effort in a win?
- 14:40[SPEAKER_02]: I'm okay with it because he just asked to be a game manager at this point.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think anybody expects him to be the guy that we paid and we traded for, you know, that ultra all-star guy and really the leader of this team.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_02]: At this point, I would just take somebody who can be a game manager as Nick was saying, and if we can get that kind of a performance out of him, that would carry the day for me.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_02]: You look at this team.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_02]: Last year, Jack,
- 15:04[SPEAKER_02]: on third down, we only converted like 33% or something on third down, which is absolutely awful.
- 15:11[SPEAKER_02]: So if he can get us to be productive on third down, continue drives, lengthen drives throughout the day, even if he's not playing particularly well,
- 15:21[SPEAKER_02]: that's going to go a long way for this offense.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_02]: You've got like Nick was saying, young wide receivers out there.
- 15:25[SPEAKER_02]: I think if you give them chances, then they're going to make for a fun day for this offense if they can get into their spurts.
- 15:32[SPEAKER_02]: But it's going to be a matter of reps for this guy.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_02]: And really, in order to do that, you've got to lengthen drives.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_02]: And so you've got to be effective on third down.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll be watching what he does on third down.
- 15:42[SPEAKER_02]: If he can do that and he can manage the game, then, hey, there's no reason to look at Schneider Sanders for next week.
- 15:47[SPEAKER_02]: But if he doesn't, then everybody's going to be calling for Trader Sanders in week two.
- 15:51[SPEAKER_01]: I guarantee it.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: So Nick, it'll probably be more passing attempts, obviously.
- 15:54[SPEAKER_01]: But to reference why I mentioned earlier.
- 15:55[SPEAKER_01]: Julian's saying last year against Texas, 13 to 20, 126 yards, one touch down no picks.
- 16:01[SPEAKER_01]: Let's say to Sean, maybe a few more passing attempts, a few more yards, but generally the same kind of thing is going down.
- 16:08[SPEAKER_01]: How do you feel about the Browns that they get to win?
- 16:10[SPEAKER_04]: You know, the Jaguars won 13 games.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, sure.
- 16:14[SPEAKER_04]: So like going into this with the quarterback of that's handicapped, you know, I have a difficult time picking the Browns to hang in there and get a win.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_04]: If we're projecting, okay, if the Sean could literally just keep the car on the road and hit his check-downs and not do anything catastrophic, like that's how I could feel good about the Browns, how I could feel good about the Sean.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_04]: That doesn't mean necessarily that I think the Browns have a chance at beating the Jacksonville Jaguar's just because that's a team that won 13 games last year and they were turned pretty much everybody and they upgraded albeit a very strange draft you look at their depth chart and you could see some areas where that team certainly did improve this off season and the Browns did too.
- 17:00[SPEAKER_04]: I just think that this is a very difficult week one game for the Browns to have to go down there
- 17:06[SPEAKER_04]: Um, with, you know, first time head coach, three first time coordinators to Sean Watson trying to do this Reclamation thing.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_04]: It's just a lot going on, but I do think if he can look, say, and ask, well, at least have a Relatively calm week going into Tampa Week 2.
- 17:22[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, there's a couple of different ways you can get the offense moving in a football game, including but not limited to getting the passing game going early, shorter routes, a couple of whip routes, things like that, screens, RPOs, established in Quinschon, Jugkins getting the run game going early to set up the pass, and then there's, hey, I don't know if anyone thinks the Browns are going to come out and do this, throw a shot play early on.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's just spitting them all down the field, 40 yards out of the gate.
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: How do you think the Browns trying to get the Sean Watson comfortable early?
- 17:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think one of the big things is going to be Harold Fanon getting a tight end to activated because you've got young wider severs, you know, who he can hit.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_02]: But I think just drive in, drive out, Mr.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_02]: Consistency right now would be Harold Fanon.
- 18:02[SPEAKER_02]: So I want to see us trying to establish the run and if the Jaguars are able to stuff Quinshan, it doesn't work out for Dylan Samson, then I think look for a heavy dose of Harold Fanon all afternoon.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's the way that you keep the defense honest and you keep
- 18:19[SPEAKER_04]: on the ball is going to be you can though neck if you can if you have sense of line the jags are good against the r you're excited about quince and so Tampa and Tampa week two is really good against the run also so it could be some tough sliding I will say and I've said this before so it's not like new news here on the program.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_04]: Dylan Samson used that role in that could help make to Sean's life easier, especially Chris if you're having trouble running it with Quint Sean against the talented Jaguar's front, check it down to Dylan Samson Dylan Samson was a popular player for Todd Munkin and Travis Schweitzer throughout camp.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_04]: use them because I do think that there's some talent in there like the young man led the SEC in rushing during his last year in college.
- 19:10[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if it's clear that you're in this.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_03]: I'd see what he could do.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_02]: I think we're not in the last few weeks on the internet before he got hurt.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_02]: So I mean he's proven a little bit in a very small sample size here in the NFL that he can run.
- 19:23[SPEAKER_01]: Two-part question for you guys.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: There's some things in the NFL where if we freak out about the Browns struggling in this facet of the game week one, we might look like dummies by week five.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_01]: There are some things where if, hey, your team has this clearing hole week one, that might be a major cause for concern if you're trying to win football games this season.
- 19:39[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, starting with you, what's one thing where if the Browns come out and they're slow in this facet of the game, you're going to be like, oh, okay, like, let's give it a couple of weeks, Todd Munkins a new.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: What's one thing where the sirens are going off immediately?
- 19:50[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not talking
- 19:52[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I don't know it like week one.
- 19:54[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know if there's going to be any sirens just because my expectations like aren't too high for this game because yet I'm just Sean Stings, you know the one the one thing that I guess like we're going to have to say.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_04]: see it is this new look defense with Mike Root and Berg against Trevor Lawrence in Brian Robinson and all of the you know weapons that Jacksonville has now it's going to be too not the backfield this year in Jacksonville.
- 20:20[SPEAKER_04]: So it's going to be you know a similar defense to watch sports ran.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_04]: but they're gonna do the three safety thing a lot where maybe you don't have a nickel corner on the field as much curious to see how a manual make Neil Warren looks especially because the Browns have been a little bit tight-lipped about what his role is going to be as a rookie and you know we got to see you know some very small glimpses of him but not really a full look at what his role is going to be when you factor in delpit and how
- 20:51[SPEAKER_04]: Hickman on the field with him at the same time.
- 20:54[SPEAKER_04]: So I definitely am curious to see what this defense looks like in life after Jim Schwartz, life after Miles Garrett, but also with Mike Root and Berg, who's gonna add some of his own stuff, a manual McNeil Warren, who's an exciting rookie that I think a lot of people are looking forward to and obviously Jared Verte, so we talked about a bunch at the beginning of the show.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, when I open up Twitter this upcoming Sunday and I just scroll the timeline and see at reflog 18 sending some heinous things out about the Cleveland Football Browns, what is going to be the number one cause of concern for you?
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: That's Sunday afternoon.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_02]: Well, start to the quarterback, right?
- 21:29[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, if Deshawn shows to be the Deshawn of last year at times, it's going to be a disaster on Sunday.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_02]: I really think so, even if we can run the ball
- 21:43[SPEAKER_02]: he really will have to throw the ball and if that goes a ride then it's going to be ugly and people are going to be on not only the team but also the organization for running them out there so it'll get ugly really fast so hopefully the Sean can go out there as we were talking about earlier and kind of manage this game early maybe get some easy throws out of the way so he gets his confidence back up because I really think he's rattled.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_02]: down to his bones.
- 22:07[SPEAKER_02]: Not only is he physically not the same player, but I think he's pretty rattled by everything with the fans and everything that he's experienced so far in Cleveland that right now he's not in the right spot mentally.
- 22:19[SPEAKER_02]: And maybe maybe if he hits some easy routes there early on, gets a little bit of confidence, starts feeling good.
- 22:26[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he can build upon that maybe we have something.
- 22:29[SPEAKER_02]: But if it goes the other way, Jack,
- 22:31[SPEAKER_02]: You know, Twitter X, it is going to be on fire with Watson memes and you're going to have shudder Sanders people coming out of the rafters.
- 22:38[SPEAKER_02]: They're going to be jumping all over this thing.
- 22:40[SPEAKER_02]: And rightfully so I'll be doing the same thing calling for shudder Sanders because you want to see what that lotto ticket looks like.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_02]: that lot of ticket hasn't been fully scratched as we talked about before to Sean Watson.
- 22:53[SPEAKER_02]: That lot of ticket is completely been scratched.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_02]: We know what it is.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_02]: Right now we're just running it out there as a bridge to know where I'm anxious to see what the next bridge looks like.
- 23:02[SPEAKER_02]: But hey, the Brown says an organization decided they wanted to see to Sean Watson.
- 23:07[SPEAKER_02]: So let's see what he could do.
- 23:08[SPEAKER_02]: Hopefully he can manage the game just well enough to make this interesting and maybe we can pull out a victory at the end.
- 23:14[SPEAKER_02]: But I tell you what my confidence level
- 23:18[SPEAKER_01]: So Nick, it's no secret, the number one thing we're all looking from out of the Sean Watson this Sunday is probably just general baseline professional competency at the quarterback position.
- 23:26[SPEAKER_01]: But if you had to go a little bit past that, what's one thing that the Sean must show this weekend and what's one thing that if he does this again, you're like, oh, get the hook.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_04]: It's kind of what Chris said at the beginning of his answer, it's the catastrophic stuff, like, like, especially for Deshawn.
- 23:41[SPEAKER_04]: I worry that if something catastrophic happens early in a game, it'll snowball.
- 23:48[SPEAKER_04]: And if it snobles,
- 23:50[SPEAKER_04]: that's when I'm like, oh, because that's kind of what we saw happen at the stadium just a couple of weeks ago in the preseason against third and fourth string backups was something bad happened.
- 24:04[SPEAKER_04]: He kind of couldn't shake it and then the meltdown ensued.
- 24:08[SPEAKER_04]: So I definitely think it's a big like, and this is such a football cliche, but it is true a lot of times.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_04]: It's a big how the first
- 24:19[SPEAKER_04]: with a little bit of momentum for your Dishon Watson because if he looks bad in the first half, I do have very little reason to believe that he can, you know, pick himself up and kind of rally any type of comeback because that's when they're gonna have to ask him to push the ball down the field.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_04]: That's when they're gonna ask him to press and that's just when we're more bad things are gonna happen.
- 24:39[SPEAKER_04]: So, you gotta start fast.
- 24:41[SPEAKER_04]: That's gonna be a big thing for Munkin' all year.
- 24:43[SPEAKER_01]: Don't go anywhere, we got more browns and some Ohio State book.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: Guys, even the Cleveland Guardians have talked about, but we got to tell you that Cleveland headlines are brought to you by Smart Choice Bats.

- 25:14[SPEAKER_01]: Don't go anywhere.
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about Spencer Fano and how he fits in week one next on the Big Play Cleveland show.
- 25:20[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back to the Big Play Cleveland show.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns took Spencer Fano ninth overall in this year's NFL draft after trading back.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: So there's high expectations on the young man and we start to find out what is the case with Big Spence this Sunday when the Browns head down to Jacksonville Nick.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's always interesting when you have a rookie starting anywhere on the field, let alone at left tackle one of the most important positions on the field.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_01]: Do you anticipate the browns to kind of let Spencer do his own thing against Josh Hines out of the start and then if they need bringing extra protection, whether that's Harold Thanon or having the running back chip on that side of the whole game, or do you think
- 25:54[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I definitely think that that stuff is going to be built into the game plan just because that stuff has been such a big piece of Todd's offense.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_04]: Literally since Spencer arrived in Burya for his very first rookie OTAs following the draft.
- 26:11[SPEAKER_04]: they were working on those sort of motion things with the full back and obviously then it was Carson Ryan now it'll be Michael Burton the veteran um Harold van and Jr another guy that can kind of help out and ship in protection uh the jaguars have a nasty defense of line so help is going to be needed kind of across the entire
- 26:30[SPEAKER_04]: higher front, not just four Spencer out there, but I definitely do believe that the Browns are going to use a lot of motion.
- 26:36[SPEAKER_04]: They are going to use a full back at times.
- 26:39[SPEAKER_04]: Just to try to have as much I can to around that quarterback is humanly possible.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_01]: Chris,
- 26:45[SPEAKER_01]: Jenkins was kind of brought in as a depth piece rotation on guy last year if need be if someone went down and eventually he got his chance more as a season one on once Wyatt Tyler got bench fight Kevin Sifansky now you flip around he's brought back and what's supposedly supposed to be more of like a starting role almost and then he ends up having this competition with Austin Barber for the right guard spot now it's looking like Kevin Jenkins in practice yesterday so we don't totally know it's going to happen comes Sunday yet does that worry you at all that the rest of the online is not quite set around a rookie or even that there could be a second rookie on the
- 27:16[SPEAKER_02]: It doesn't surprise me very much to be honest with you, Jack, we're trying to replace the entire line basically from last year, and that's what we're doing right now.
- 27:24[SPEAKER_02]: And yet Spencer Fano, as you talked about, I think he's going to be fabulous, by the way.
- 27:29[SPEAKER_02]: I think that was a great draft pick.
- 27:31[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's something we're going to look back in years and go, that was the pick right there.
- 27:36[SPEAKER_02]: That was a really smart pick by the Cleveland Browns.
- 27:38[SPEAKER_02]: And I know we're excited about all the other young guys.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_02]: They pair wide receivers that we've got here.
- 27:43[SPEAKER_02]: We talked a little bit about McNeil Warren as well,
- 27:46[SPEAKER_02]: I think he was just a fabulous pick so it's good to get that bad rock there and then you're gonna have a lot on the inside It we're gonna be I think trading in and out a little bit there on the interior of the line Which is gonna make it kind of rocky especially when you've got a quarter back like to Sean Watson or even Shader Sanders Both of those guys hold on to the ball a little bit too long
- 28:05[SPEAKER_02]: you know, and both have been guilty of that.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_02]: And that's not very good for an offensive line.
- 28:09[SPEAKER_02]: So hopefully we're going to be able to run the ball a little bit behind this line and maybe that'll mask some of the problems that I think they're inherent right now in it.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_02]: But this is definitely a work in progress.
- 28:20[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to see it all year long.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_02]: I think a lot of people like the gloss over when they're talking about the offense for the Cleveland Browns and say, hey, yeah, we know we got questions at quarterback, but look at the running facts.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_02]: Look at our
- 28:32[SPEAKER_02]: Look at these wider seabers.
- 28:33[SPEAKER_02]: A lot of people gloss over that offensive line saying, Hey, they made a draft picks, better for no, we should be good there.
- 28:40[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, doesn't really work that way because they're all working in tandem.
- 28:43[SPEAKER_02]: This is a group effort on the offensive line.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_02]: And it's going to be one that's going to be a work in progress, so to be interesting to see how they do in week one.
- 28:51[SPEAKER_02]: And then as this season progresses, because that could be a huge hindrance, as you guys know for this offense.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_04]: I'm just happy I'm getting my way baby.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_04]: Austin Barber is going to be your starting right guard week one by process of elimination.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_04]: Tevin Jenkins has not been able to practice so it looks like they're probably going to start two rookies up front on that offensive line.
- 29:12[SPEAKER_04]: They were so high on Austin Barber coming out of that draft.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_04]: They had to leave Friday night with Austin Barber.
- 29:19[SPEAKER_04]: that's why they traded back into make sure that they secured his services before a Friday night concluded and then his transition from left tackle where he played last year at Florida to right guard has been a work in progress throughout camp but he really came on strong throughout the preseason and you've seen on social media some of the pancake flocks that he's been able to make down field but Chris to your point okay now let's start in two rookies
- 29:45[SPEAKER_04]: on my offensive line.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_04]: My, you know, center, Elton Jenkins might really be better suited at guard.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_04]: Zion Johnson was kind of a bit of a middle of the road guard during his time with the Chargers albeit he's a former first round pick and that's kind of the same story with Titus Howard on the right side.
- 30:03[SPEAKER_04]: So it is, you know, a patchwork offensive line but I think you could find hope that the Chicago Bears did this last year and they were able to ride it all the way
- 30:15[SPEAKER_04]: And I felt playoff run.
- 30:16[SPEAKER_04]: I obviously think that the expectations for the Brown's offensive line are much much worse because of the quarterback that's going to be playing behind it, but you can see a world where if this does work and if these guys do all come together.
- 30:30[SPEAKER_04]: That'd be nice because that then you could go into next off season kind of understanding.
- 30:35[SPEAKER_04]: Hey, here's one thing that we did kind of get right and we do have set to set up a new quarterback potentially for some success in 27 and I think Nick Barber is a really.
- 30:45[SPEAKER_02]: good case of what I'm talking about too with the line kind of working together because early on in preseason there were a few plays where he looked really bad and as it turns out a lot of that was communication right and him not communicating assignments and not being able to pass the defensive player off and not understanding where that help is coming from and then later on you saw some really good stuff.
- 31:07[SPEAKER_02]: on tape from him with pancakes and him really getting to the roll and really growing into the roll.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_02]: So we know all the physical tools are there, but the communication is going to be a big piece.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_02]: He's switching positions.
- 31:18[SPEAKER_02]: This is going to be tough at the NFL level for him to be able to really assimilate while he's learning alongside a lot of guys who are new to this offensive line.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_02]: two rookies in there.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_02]: So it like I said, work in progress for this offensive line.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to be a key piece as well, but it'll be interesting to see how they communicate and how that all comes together this season.
- 31:38[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, as Todd Monkin game plans for around, I guess, this offensive line end is quarterback in a way.
- 31:44[SPEAKER_01]: Do you anticipate the Browns come out a lot more of like 12 13 personnel like heavier sets to try and give to Sean more time to throw the ball or do you think it'll be more just space it out a bunch of weapons and try and get the ball out.
- 31:54[SPEAKER_04]: they're going to do I think they're going to do a mix at everything just because they they're going to want but week one is going to be an opportunity for munken to kind of showcase a bit of everything and the jaguars are fascinating because they have a good defensive line but but that's just a good defense in general their linebackers are good obviously their secondaries uh well their secondary was good and then they have it added Travis Hunter and told them focus on that specifically so they've got a good defense overall
- 32:22[SPEAKER_04]: And I think that that allows you to do some of the heavier personnel where you'll use the tight end and you'll use the full back, but then there's going to be time where, you know, and Liam Cohen was asked already this week about Casey concept, so you know, and they're like, hey, we've got a account for him out of the run game too, because he's a playmaker.
- 32:40[SPEAKER_04]: So there are already kind of scheming for some of the young talent, the Browns haven't even gotten to showcase yet.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_04]: So I do think it's going to be a healthy mix of a little bit of everything, maybe a little bit of, you know, heavy personnel to protect
- 32:52[SPEAKER_04]: to shine and let them pat the ball and then if it ends up being just a screen to Dylan Sampson, that's fine, try to move the stakes and then if you've got an opportunity to try to take the top off or or to try to do something fancy with KC to just get the ball in his hands, I want to see it because that speed is real.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, what do you think the Browns let him do?
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: And you think it'll be more just spacing guys out, get it out quicker of loading up the box.
- 33:16[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, God, that's a good question with this team.
- 33:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're probably going to try and get it out quick.
- 33:22[SPEAKER_02]: Gonna try and force.
- 33:23[SPEAKER_02]: Are you talking defensively for us?
- 33:25[SPEAKER_01]: Are you talking, oh, I think I guess defensively the box.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I'm seeing with the offense more, so do you expect like two or three tight ends out there?
- 33:30[SPEAKER_01]: A lot, or do you think it'll be more just thinking don't get it out right away?
- 33:33[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to try and dink and dunk it, and I think they're going to try and like we talked about before, incorporate more of that motion, pre-snaps, see how the defense reacts to that, and then be able to play off of that, and see if they can kind of get to Sean Watson in any kind of a rhythm early on in this game, because if you could do that, then I think that really helps them out.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_02]: And I also see, you know,
- 33:56[SPEAKER_02]: that the healthy mix of that running game in there see if you can kind of chip away at this defense because like Nick said, very good against the run, but you're going to have to run the ball.
- 34:04[SPEAKER_02]: You don't want to rely early on in this game into Sean Watson throwing the ball down the field.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_02]: So if you can get there by hitting Harold fan and by working your way out of the back field and then also running, then you
- 34:17[SPEAKER_02]: you have an offense that I think can carry the day for you.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_02]: But at this point, you've got to be able to do some of that.
- 34:25[SPEAKER_02]: Otherwise, it could go or I really quickly for this Browns team because if you come out there without a plan and to Sean makes a lot of early mistakes,
- 34:33[SPEAKER_02]: The Jaguars could really eat you a lot.
- 34:35[SPEAKER_04]: That's my fear, though.
- 34:36[SPEAKER_04]: Like that is my fear for Todd Monkin is that he goes into this game, thinking that he has Lamar Jackson, safe flowers, Derek Henry, and it's like, oh, it's not going to go to trick place and stuff is he though?
- 34:49[SPEAKER_02]: Is he going to go to the defense key playbook and all this and okay, I got this trick play that's just going to carry the day here.
- 34:56[SPEAKER_02]: Change the momentum.
- 34:57[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see him as that type of a guy.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_02]: That would worry me if that was going to be rolled out.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't know though.
- 35:05[SPEAKER_04]: It's always, how about beef because here's why.
- 35:09[SPEAKER_04]: We've spent much of this week have we not talking about specific packages for tail and green.
- 35:15[SPEAKER_04]: So you want to talk about getting cute.
- 35:18[SPEAKER_04]: tailing rain would would be getting cute no i think it could work just because tailing is six foot six and and if they do activate on my think if you if you get a couple of first downs or even a touchdown out of it like that's worth the activation um but but don't roll out some trickery don't rule out some cuteness because we we've spent much of this week talking about
- 35:40[SPEAKER_04]: the emergency third potentially being activated for a game day roster spot so they could do a trick package of plays with him.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_02]: What does that quarterback?
- 35:49[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the tail and green quarterback in Cleveland.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_02]: It always catches the imagination, right?
- 35:54[SPEAKER_02]: We're all talking about dision versus shooter, but you've always got that kind of other guy, you know, obviously we drafted him a little bit later on in the draft, but he's got those dimensions.
- 36:04[SPEAKER_02]: You go, man, we would just like to be able to
- 36:08[SPEAKER_02]: maybe he can change this game, maybe he can give them a different look to think about maybe he can get us across, you know, two yards on third down or fourth down.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe he can be a game changer for us.
- 36:18[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love to get him into the game plan, but then you step back and you go, wait a second, we have to establish an offense too.
- 36:24[SPEAKER_02]: By the way, you know, these little gimmicky things that we could do with these fun players that seem to have, you know, the dimensions or the abilities that you'd like to be able to incorporate into the game plan.
- 36:33[SPEAKER_02]: You've got to be able to step back and say,
- 36:35[SPEAKER_02]: Well, we also need to be able to do the basics pretty well as well.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you never want to bite off more than you can shoot.
- 36:41[SPEAKER_01]: And also, I mean, Dylan Gabriel is out in Area 51.
- 36:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I mean, I don't even know what happened to that guy at this point in the time.
- 36:46[SPEAKER_01]: He's still around.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_04]: Yes, he is still talking about him after that.
- 36:49[SPEAKER_04]: Still or game.
- 36:50[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, maybe it'll end up.
- 36:52[SPEAKER_02]: I was I put out that thing that tweet yesterday about the jerseys.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_02]: Did you guys see for a little while while Shitors jersey was marked on clearance accident.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what was that about everyone went crazy and then Fanatics found out about it and then changed the pricing.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_02]: I have no idea they probably had too many jerseys And we're trying to quietly unload some and then as soon as everybody started calling attention to it and started ordering too many They're like well
- 37:15[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, that's enough.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_02]: That's enough back up to regular price.
- 37:18[SPEAKER_02]: It would be my guess, but I put out a tweet about it, and somebody responded, well, Dylan Gabriel should always be half off.
- 37:25[SPEAKER_02]: And somebody else said, who is buying those at full price?
- 37:29[SPEAKER_02]: And then I put a tweet about his whole family, right?
- 37:31[SPEAKER_02]: And in their eye to buy them.
- 37:33[SPEAKER_02]: And you know what I didn't realize?
- 37:35[SPEAKER_02]: He's got a really cool family.
- 37:37[SPEAKER_02]: you read through the bio if like his parents and his siblings and stuff.
- 37:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, oh man, this is a guy I would love to root for because everything about his family is so cool.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_02]: They're all named after like NFL players.
- 37:48[SPEAKER_02]: Dylan Gabriel's really got a cool vibe to him.
- 37:51[SPEAKER_02]: I'd love it if you
- 37:52[SPEAKER_02]: could actually play the game and throw the ball down field if there is an opportunity for it.
- 37:56[SPEAKER_02]: So I rip on the guy all the time for his size and that's kind of low fruit, but man, what a cool family doing gay reals gotty?
- 38:03[SPEAKER_02]: It'd be cool if it would work out in some way.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_02]: If it doesn't work out here, it would work out somewhere else.
- 38:07[SPEAKER_02]: If nothing else, it's because he's got a really cool fan.
- 38:10[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, it's a football family like he grew up literally destined to be a quarterback and I know everybody picks on the size because it is the low fruit, but I mean, he's grown up around balling it and that's like what is parents are about it's what it's siblings are about like they just love football and and honestly from what I've observed like they've really adopted the Browns like parents have been over here families been over here all that good stuff so.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_04]: How hopefully at some point, yeah, with that back thing, he could get off that IR, and then they're going to have to figure out that shuffle, too.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_02]: Or it's right, he's hurt.
- 38:42[SPEAKER_02]: I forgot.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_02]: He is hurt.
- 38:44[SPEAKER_02]: That's right.
- 38:45[SPEAKER_02]: He's got to rehab.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_02]: I totally forgot in about that injury.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, let me hear a lot.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about the Browns defense now for a bit.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: I think anytime there's a DC every week in a room going, okay, you know what, if that's the guy who ends up eating us, that's fine.
- 38:58[SPEAKER_01]: Like we got to take away this, listen that first.
- 39:01[SPEAKER_01]: If you're the Browns, what should Cleveland make Lawrence beat us with, I guess?
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: Like, where do you say, like, where do you, if you're like, okay, it ended up being, I don't know, like, to Kobe Myers or something, you're like, okay, that's fine.
- 39:14[SPEAKER_01]: Who's the guy for you?
- 39:15[SPEAKER_04]: I'd actually try to make them run the ball.
- 39:17[SPEAKER_04]: Just because it's a little bit of a new backfield, try to run the ball against this front with Malik Collins and Mason Graham and Jared Verst standing in there right here to take your lunch with Carson, Swiss and Jürgen, Quincy Williams and Grant Delpit and their ability to kind of get up there around the line of skrimmage and yuck things up, like I definitely think like Brian Thomas Jr. is a stud.
- 39:40[SPEAKER_04]: You know, their receivers are all really good.
- 39:43[SPEAKER_04]: Parker Washington is somebody that could just take the top off.
- 39:46[SPEAKER_04]: One throw, one laughed of judgment, one defensive breakdown, Parker Washington's in the end zone for six.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_04]: So they have a ton of weapons.
- 39:54[SPEAKER_04]: I wouldn't let Lawrence beat you.
- 39:56[SPEAKER_04]: And I try to make him run the ball if he can.
- 39:58[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know, yeah, I like our secondary though.
- 40:02[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, right now we're all healthy, right?
- 40:04[SPEAKER_02]: We got Campbell.
- 40:05[SPEAKER_02]: We got ward back there.
- 40:06[SPEAKER_02]: So if he is dropping back to past, we got to get after him, right?
- 40:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, everybody in the United States right now is basically gripping for the Browns to take a step back without Miles Garrity in there.
- 40:18[SPEAKER_02]: We had Jared verse, I
- 40:20[SPEAKER_02]: I would like to let loose.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_02]: It would be great to get after him a couple of times, you know, really make him run around all afternoon if possible.
- 40:28[SPEAKER_02]: I know that they've got a good line.
- 40:29[SPEAKER_02]: It's going to be hard to get after Trevor Lawrence, but boy, if you can make him uncomfortable back there, maybe get out of a little bit and all of a sudden, people start saying, wow.
- 40:39[SPEAKER_02]: this Brown's defense is still there.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_02]: It's amazing.
- 40:42[SPEAKER_02]: After they lose Miles Garrett, Miles Garrett's out in L.A. Did nothing.
- 40:46[SPEAKER_02]: And this Brown's defense could get after it.
- 40:47[SPEAKER_02]: Now, do I believe that's going to happen?
- 40:49[SPEAKER_02]: No, but I've seen this Brown's team come out and surprise you, especially on the defense of end of the ball.
- 40:55[SPEAKER_02]: So I would love to see us get after make him uncomfortable and make Trevor Lawrence make some mistakes because we need those turnovers.
- 41:04[SPEAKER_04]: I don't think that's too far fetched by the way of, like, maybe an expectation if you're trying to find a way as to how do the Browns take down the Jaguars, how can they pull off a comeback?
- 41:15[SPEAKER_04]: That turnover piece is a very important piece of the puzzle Chris just because, you know, Trevor Lawrence is a guy that's not immune to them.
- 41:23[SPEAKER_04]: you know, he, he doesn't throw a ton, but he, he definitely gives y'all opportunities.
- 41:27[SPEAKER_04]: And this was a brown's defense at least throughout, you know, they're one joint practice that they had.
- 41:32[SPEAKER_04]: And then during the, you know, preseason, they did take the football away a couple of times.
- 41:39[SPEAKER_04]: So, so hopefully that's the identity of this defense, Rittenberg just said yesterday that they want to be violent and everything that they do.
- 41:47[SPEAKER_04]: that was Schwartz's whole ideology was they wanted to be in a tack-based defense they weren't you know take that you know take a back seat and see what the offense was going to do and then tailor what they were going to do to the offense they were going to be the aggressors that was Schwartz's whole mentality and rootenberg's trying to adopt that layer of the scheme so
- 42:07[SPEAKER_04]: we'll see how it looks it's obviously easy to talk about all of this stuff and it's easy for it to look okay and passable in practice settings especially when you're going up against the Sean Watson's offense but I do think that there's a world where this can be a defense that is pretty good and can get after a quarterback we talked about existing to I'm sorry to
- 42:30[SPEAKER_02]: right we haven't seen him in the preseason he's healthy he's been wet working his way back man that's a guy we are so excited about last year defense rookie the year this guy is a stud i can't wait to see him out there i'll tell you what Trevor Lawrence with his long-flowing locks we got Carson swesinger go get him you know if you need to shadow him
- 42:49[SPEAKER_02]: necessarily on plays, whatever it might be to get after him a little bit.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_02]: Because his Western girl is a guy that has really got people's imagination here in Cleveland and nationally, and I think he could have a big impact on this game name.
- 43:02[SPEAKER_04]: One more defensive player, Jack.
- 43:04[SPEAKER_04]: Tyson Campbell.
- 43:06[SPEAKER_03]: Now much has been made of the return, you know, to Jacksonville, who was the contributor?
- 43:11[SPEAKER_04]: No, what do you think?
- 43:13[SPEAKER_04]: probably.
- 43:13[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I think Tyson was like down there, but for him personally, okay, I got shipped off from a team that won 13 games and went to the playoffs last year to the Browns who finished with five wins and and Campbell really thinks that him and Ward are going to be the best.
- 43:31[SPEAKER_04]: defensive backfield duo in football this season man here's a great opportunity to prove that to everybody against your former team with Denzel Ward who just got this huge contract extension this off season.
- 43:43[SPEAKER_04]: Those two guys do have a big opportunity to make a big impact.
- 43:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let's make some predictions for this upcoming Browns week one matchup now guys Nick we're going to go to you first and then Chris give me your winner exact score and deciding player to start off.
- 44:00[SPEAKER_04]: I'll go, I'd love to pick the browns to win this game, just because week ones are strange.
- 44:08[SPEAKER_04]: I definitely think they have a chance to win this game.
- 44:10[SPEAKER_04]: I do like them to cover in this game.
- 44:13[SPEAKER_04]: I wanna see them keep it close.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_04]: This is a prediction that's really just based on gut instinct because I've yet to see what Todd Monkins team really looks like in an actual real game setting.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I'm going to pick them to unfortunately drop this one and I'm going to give you a final score of let's go weird score 25 21 That is a weird.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_04]: We're so very weird.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_04]: That's cool.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, but but the Browns could score 20 points and I think we'd at least walk away feeling alright about that Chris.
- 44:44[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, and Nick, who's your player.
- 44:46[SPEAKER_04]: Oh, I'll go let's go KC concepts.
- 44:48[SPEAKER_04]: You don't find a way to score a Tudon as debut
- 44:52[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I have no journalistic integrity.
- 44:54[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll go with my heart rather than my head.
- 44:57[SPEAKER_02]: My head says that the Browns lose this game.
- 44:59[SPEAKER_02]: And it goes as expected to Sean Watson has a bad game.
- 45:02[SPEAKER_02]: The offense has some spurts you see, concept she owned, Boston, Harold Fan, and Quinshawn Judkins have decent games, have some spurts, but overall defensive collapse and the Browns end up losing.
- 45:14[SPEAKER_02]: But for my official prediction,
- 45:16[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to go with my heart, and I'm going to say the Cleveland Browns are going to win 24, 21.
- 45:22[SPEAKER_02]: Queen Shawn Judkins is going to be the guy.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to be able to run the ball magically against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
- 45:29[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to do it all day long.
- 45:30[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to sprinkle in a little concept.
- 45:32[SPEAKER_02]: She owned a little bit of Boston, a little bit of Harold Fanon.
- 45:36[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to be good enough defensively.
- 45:38[SPEAKER_02]: Get after travel, or Lauren's enough, that he's going to have himself a bad afternoon in the Browns.
- 45:46[SPEAKER_02]: and beating the Jacksonville Jaguars 24 to 21 probably a walkoff field goal.
- 45:52[SPEAKER_02]: We had all those walkoffs last weekend for the for the guardians that seems like a year away.
- 45:57[SPEAKER_02]: This weekend, it's going to be the walkoff for the Cleveland Browns.
- 46:00[SPEAKER_01]: Chris, as much as I would love to join Chef Sai and his 27 to 13 Browns prediction, I don't exactly say 27 to 30.
- 46:08[SPEAKER_01]: He's, he called two touchdowns on the road, which I think might be criminal.
- 46:11[SPEAKER_02]: We're allowed to drink on the air now.
- 46:13[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, that's it's a new rule.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: New rule.
- 46:15[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what?
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: He just instituted.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
- 46:17[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, I said, dude, I think that way doesn't care anymore.
- 46:20[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, I would do whatever you want, Chris.
- 46:22[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to go Browns 17 to 13.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: So in my prediction all week, player the game.
- 46:28[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, I love a Tyson Campbell interception.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: Now, maybe like a game sealer on the last drive, two miniature.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if he's gonna do the whole Damirius Randall and run it over to the other team's sidelines and hand it off, but I do think that would be a cool moment.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, starting with your prediction now, where do the Browns touchdowns come from in your score prediction?
- 46:46[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, I've got a KC-Kids FCone.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_04]: I think that's a fun anytime touchdown.
- 46:51[SPEAKER_04]: That's a guy that they drafted in the first round.
- 46:54[SPEAKER_04]: So I know there were so many people when that, you know, pick was announced that was like here's another short receiver to add to our catalog of short receivers and then they made you feel better about it because they drafted Denzel Boston and then because we've gotten a glimpse at Casey's speed and we could see hold on there actually could really be a playmaker in there
- 47:13[SPEAKER_04]: But I think the fact that like he can be a returner and we'll see how much they use him as a returner because he's going to have a big role in the offense Because he could run the ball out of the backfield.
- 47:23[SPEAKER_04]: I think there's just going to be so many opportunities for him to score this entire rookie season.
- 47:28[SPEAKER_04]: So I got Casey finding it Chris
- 47:32[SPEAKER_02]: I got three touchdowns there 24 or 21, of course.
- 47:35[SPEAKER_02]: So Quinsion, Judd, Ken's is going to get his touch.
- 47:37[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to get one of them.
- 47:39[SPEAKER_02]: Harold Fanon, a tie to end.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_02]: He's going to have a big one.
- 47:42[SPEAKER_02]: And then since you went, can a KC concept she owned their Nick, I'm going to go with Boston on this one.
- 47:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's also going to be one of the young wide receivers.
- 47:49[SPEAKER_02]: So three touchdowns on the day for the Cleveland Browns, and it's going to be from those three individuals.
- 47:53[SPEAKER_04]: And that means it'll actually be like Michael Burton or somebody's very right.
- 47:57[SPEAKER_01]: You know, kids is getting one Blake Whiteheart.
- 48:00[SPEAKER_01]: The Browns love a good random touchdown score a week.
- 48:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, because rocket Sanders started to be I think.
- 48:05[SPEAKER_04]: I mean, he was like first touchdown of the season, rocket Sanders.
- 48:09[SPEAKER_01]: He was he might have kicked off Red Zone last year, which is actually so funny to look back on and think about.
- 48:15[SPEAKER_01]: Let's move it off to our AFC North picks now.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: just just kind of going one through four in this division, where do you guys put it?
- 48:22[SPEAKER_01]: I believe I don't want to miss quote Matt Fontana, but Matt Fontana was on Big Play Cleveland Live yesterday.
- 48:27[SPEAKER_01]: I want to say he came away.
- 48:29[SPEAKER_01]: Bangles, Ravens, Steelers, Browns, that would be right Ryan?
- 48:32[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, so that that's where Matt Fontana was at.
- 48:34[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you guys set?
- 48:36[SPEAKER_02]: I'm pretty close on that when I'm going to flip the Browns and the Steelers, what the hell?
- 48:40[SPEAKER_02]: I, we've been calling the demise of the Steelers for years.
- 48:43[SPEAKER_02]: I don't, I don't think Aaron Rogers has got much left at all.
- 48:47[SPEAKER_02]: I think that his heart is not in it.
- 48:49[SPEAKER_02]: I think he's just kind of going through the motions right now.
- 48:51[SPEAKER_02]: I don't see the Steelers really making a big push.
- 48:54[SPEAKER_02]: I think they've lost too much over the years.
- 48:56[SPEAKER_02]: I think they're going to end up in the basement.
- 48:58[SPEAKER_02]: Now at the very top of the division, I like the bangles.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_02]: I think this is the best bangles roster.
- 49:03[SPEAKER_02]: perhaps in their existence, I've been talking about that as you look at it.
- 49:07[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, you go back through the great years.
- 49:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, the boomer of science in years.
- 49:11[SPEAKER_02]: I think that this is a better roster than that they've had in a long, long time.
- 49:15[SPEAKER_02]: And I see them getting it all together.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_02]: And I think right there on their heels is going to be Baltimore.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_02]: I think Lamar Jackson's going to have a good year.
- 49:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I think you're going to see a good Baltimore team of very good Cincinnati team.
- 49:26[SPEAKER_02]: And both of those teams are going to be in the playoffs.
- 49:28[SPEAKER_02]: And then the Browns are going to be like a nice good old same, which they're going to be right in between them.
- 49:32[SPEAKER_02]: And we're going to have a few wins, but not enough that we totally screw up our draft.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_02]: And then everybody can step away saying the young guys had developed over the course of the year.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_02]: And now let's look ahead to the draft and go find our quarterback.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: Real quick before you give your answer Nick, if the Browns finished third though, we're talking about not a top 10 pick, right?
- 49:51[SPEAKER_02]: That's well, you've been on this deal or what that looks like, my friend.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: How awesome would that be?
- 49:57[SPEAKER_04]: Almost the sellers are just, oh, I don't know.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_04]: It depends who you ask because if that gives them their path to Draft or their size, put her back over the brown.
- 50:05[SPEAKER_04]: Some people might not like that, so it depends on who you ask.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I've got the Bengals winning this division as well.
- 50:10[SPEAKER_04]: Now, there's a very cleafening is right there, you know.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_04]: I got um Baltimore and Pittsburgh two and three, but I actually wouldn't mind flipping those.
- 50:24[SPEAKER_04]: I do worry if I'm the Baltimore Ravens because kind of everything's right and on this year.
- 50:30[SPEAKER_04]: Is it not with a first time head coach in Jesse Mentor the Lamar contract is still very much up in the air.
- 50:38[SPEAKER_04]: How how important
- 50:40[SPEAKER_04]: You know, was last year's defensive coaching staff and will this new look staff be able to do what they did with Kyle Hamilton and some of the playmakers that they've got, so I definitely think Pittsburgh and Baltimore can be kind of interchanged.
- 50:56[SPEAKER_04]: Um, at two and three and unfortunately I do have the Browns bringing up the rear for one final season because I do think when you look at this The rest of the teams in this division all kind of find themselves in a pressure cooker Chris.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_04]: You said the bangles Maybe this is their best roster ever if they fall short this year Does Joe Burrell want to be a round that things that Taylor certainly gonna be on in their jacket, right?
- 51:18[SPEAKER_04]: In Pittsburgh, it's the swansong for Aaron Rodgers, and then who's your quarterback next year?
- 51:23[SPEAKER_04]: Is it Drew Aller?
- 51:24[SPEAKER_04]: Is it will Howard or you draft in somebody else?
- 51:27[SPEAKER_04]: Are you going to sign a free agent who knows?
- 51:29[SPEAKER_04]: And then with Baltimore and the Mark contract, you lose Lamar, Derek Henry's already on the back nine of his career, and that defense is aging too.
- 51:37[SPEAKER_04]: So you see a climate again, similar to the time when Wrathless Burger retired, and Andy Dalton was going away, and they
- 51:46[SPEAKER_04]: Joe, I go with no longer involved in more of where you said, wow, maybe this is our opportunity.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_04]: You kind of do see that off in the distance where this is a division that's going to have some turnover in the coming season.
- 51:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to pair it exactly Matt Fontana's top for the way he ordered the division.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: I like the, I think the Bengals have done the most for their defense they ever have in the Joeboro era.
- 52:06[SPEAKER_01]: they're returning in a line for the first time.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I think that'll be interesting to monitor throughout the season.
- 52:10[SPEAKER_01]: Now guys, we've talked records a bunch here.
- 52:13[SPEAKER_01]: Let me leave head non-sweating for football to come back, right?
- 52:16[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm sure we have thrown a few record predictions out there.
- 52:18[SPEAKER_01]: But can I get your guys final?
- 52:19[SPEAKER_01]: It is Friday, two days before a game one, record prediction for the Browns.
- 52:23[SPEAKER_01]: And also after hearing your guys' divisional list, I'm a little bit curious.
- 52:26[SPEAKER_01]: What is this ceiling?
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: This Browns team could finish in the AFC North.
- 52:30[SPEAKER_01]: If everything goes right, can they win it?
- 52:34[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 52:34[SPEAKER_02]: No.
- 52:35[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, everything goes right.
- 52:37[SPEAKER_02]: That would be us having an unbelievable season in conjunction with a lot of injuries.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_02]: I think for both the Ravens as well as Cincinnati, then maybe we have a chance in this thing.
- 52:49[SPEAKER_02]: I really don't give the Browns much of a chance.
- 52:51[SPEAKER_02]: And I think organizationally, I don't think there's a huge push.
- 52:55[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think they think that the window is open.
- 52:56[SPEAKER_02]: We're right now trying to figure things out at the quarterback position.
- 53:00[SPEAKER_02]: We're trying to figure out things with a bunch of young guys.
- 53:02[SPEAKER_02]: So the wins right now are abonus, which is kind of an ironic bonus because it hurts the draft later on.
- 53:08[SPEAKER_02]: But I think any kind of forward momentum when it comes to wins and losses are going to be greeted with a, okay, that's nice.
- 53:14[SPEAKER_02]: Let's keep on going because it's all gonna be about that forward momentum and about development for this year.
- 53:19[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah.
- 53:20[SPEAKER_04]: it is they have like at least it does feel like for the most part browns fans are aligned on that like you'll have your chef's age that think that they could win the division and maybe if everything went browns influencers right there
- 53:36[SPEAKER_04]: You know, maybe if everything went right and they didn't suffer a single injury and to Sean wins come back play with you Like maybe then okay sure they could win the division, but they never get him in a word guys like they haven't won this division If the existence of their history post 1999
- 53:54[SPEAKER_04]: They're not going to win the division this year, but Chris is right.
- 53:57[SPEAKER_04]: It's a year where you know the importance is developing young players And the hashtag for this year, you know how the teams do the different hashtag rounds is dog pound, but in some others, it's different things.
- 54:10[SPEAKER_04]: The real motto for this brown season exit the rebuild
- 54:14[SPEAKER_04]: Exit the rebuild, stick the landing this off season when you're gonna be able to spend money because Watson's finally gonna be off the books.
- 54:21[SPEAKER_04]: You're gonna have all of these draft picks who knows where they even end up, but just because you did the right thing with that miles trade to get your war chest ready to go.
- 54:30[SPEAKER_04]: You've had two nice draft classes, you need both of those young, you know, groups of individuals to continue to develop up.
- 54:37[SPEAKER_04]: and just exit this rebuild and I do think people will go into next season and I know we hate doing this because here we go entering a week one already talking about there's always next year but if you do all that and if you're developing these young players and you're winning a couple games along the way and you find that quarterback next off season man maybe you could be a playoff team next year maybe you could be the division winner next year
- 55:02[SPEAKER_01]: Last question before we had enough to talk to Tyler Danberg about some Buckeye's big game with Texas this weekend, and then the Guardos give me your guys Super Bowl match up in winner.
- 55:14[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, right now I've got, I like the bills because, you know, they've always kind of been a secondary tertiary team for me, because they're fan base and because they go, the way that they go about winning football games.
- 55:26[SPEAKER_02]: I've always admired the bills.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_02]: So I got the bills in there right now and I'm going to throw in the Eagles.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_02]: So that would be two fan bases.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_02]: I would just love to see go at it.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_02]: So kind of wishful those are both teams.
- 55:36[SPEAKER_02]: They could certainly make a Super Bowl.
- 55:38[SPEAKER_02]: They're both expected to make the playoffs.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_02]: And I would love to see a Super Bowl with both of them.
- 55:44[SPEAKER_04]: Nick, what about a little bills bangles and a little little mid-west for a little bear's bangles, a little mid-west fund Chris has the Buffalo bills on my mind.
- 55:55[SPEAKER_04]: And I definitely do think the Buffalo bills are going to be the ones I think will have been interested.
- 55:58[SPEAKER_04]: One of them with the Premier teams, but what about the Chicago Bears?
- 56:02[SPEAKER_04]: Because they're kind of my model with this.
- 56:06[SPEAKER_04]: I want to see the Browns kind of follow this Ryan Polls model where he was able to really,
- 56:13[SPEAKER_04]: fire in Chicago.
- 56:14[SPEAKER_04]: A short couple of years ago when they made a nice way.
- 56:17[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it was.
- 56:19[SPEAKER_04]: And then they made a really big improvement last year and made a ton of noise.
- 56:24[SPEAKER_04]: And what if they faced Cincinnati, it'd be really fun for us here in the Midwest.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_02]: And you'd obviously have that to have Cincinnati in there.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to cut you off on that one.
- 56:35[SPEAKER_02]: Nick, I completely did this.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_02]: That's just because
- 56:39[SPEAKER_04]: You think you guys think when we ever get to a Super Bowl Buffalo is gonna be cheering for us.
- 56:44[SPEAKER_04]: They're not in the middle of the rules or not your team.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_02]: I don't care about what you don't remember this from back in the day.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_02]: They were one of two teams who voted against the move with the Buffalo bills.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_02]: The other one were the Steelers.
- 56:59[SPEAKER_02]: I could never like the Steelers.
- 57:00[SPEAKER_02]: So I'll always give credit to the bill.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_01]: Hey shout to I didn't know that actually shout to the sealer sure vote in for us to stay in Cleveland.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe it's because they wanted more wins every year, but I do appreciate the logic to some extent.
- 57:11[SPEAKER_01]: Got some guardos coming up, but guys, let's talk about those Cleveland Guardians because they play Cleveland is teaming up with the Cleveland Guardians to give away four field box tickets to see the guards take on the athletics on Friday, September 18th at progressive field and entering is going to be simple.

- 58:18[SPEAKER_01]: Nick, you got a special announcement.
- 58:20[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah, guys, this is definitely an emotional announcement to make, but today is actually my last show with the big play sports network, at least for a while.
- 58:31[SPEAKER_04]: And Chris was asking me, you know, are we going to talk about it on the show?
- 58:34[SPEAKER_04]: What are we going to do?
- 58:36[SPEAKER_04]: I don't want to make today about me.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_04]: The Browns play game this weekend, and that's what matters most.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_04]: But I'd be remiss before we wrap today's show if I didn't say how proud I am of what we've built here at Big Play.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_04]: Um, I started here when I was 19 years old and big play was a blog.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_04]: I just wanted to write about Cleveland Sports.
- 58:58[SPEAKER_04]: Then an opportunity popped up to run social media for their new video podcast with Chris Reflog, McNeill, and Gav Cruz.
- 59:08[SPEAKER_04]: Eventually an opportunity to be on air with Chris and Gav and eventually become the company's first full-time employee in Grow a Sports Media brand in my hometown.
- 59:19[SPEAKER_04]: I am so thankful to Ken Miles and Dave McAllister for this opportunity.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_04]: It has been such a tremendous ride over these last seven years.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_04]: I've watched Dave's kids grow up.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_04]: Him and his wife Nikki has watched me grow up and it has been one of the coolest things that I've accomplished in my professional career and certainly in my life.
- 59:42[SPEAKER_04]: For moving equipment in the trunk of our cars out of Dave's garage to our studio here at Burke there a lake front airport My first time painting was when we painted the offices here at Burke and we've made so many memories here since
- 59:58[SPEAKER_04]: We placed the first sports bat in Ohio right here in the lounge at Big Play.
- 1:00:02[SPEAKER_04]: We went viral.
- 1:00:04[SPEAKER_04]: We faced a very public lawsuit against the Cleveland Sports legend and then survived that.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_04]: We lost in games, seven figure sports book deals and survived them all along the way.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_04]: We filmed the Super Bowl commercial took James Winston to Swenson's expanded the network throughout the entire Midwest and landed a huge partnership with Sports Illustrated.
- 1:00:25[SPEAKER_04]: I'm thankful on SI Zach Bass, Brian Vence, and our crew here, some of the people that you don't get to see behind the scenes, obviously Jack and Ryan who work on Big Play Cleveland Live almost every day, and Pat and Bailey Brown and Mike Roche, I'm thankful for everybody because this has been such a fun ride, and in the office Andy Bernard said that he wished you know
- 1:00:49[SPEAKER_04]: that you're in the good old days before you've actually left them and while I'm really excited for what life has for me next there is absolutely no question that my days at big play were really good ones and I'm appreciative for you guys for giving me this platform and having some fun with me along the years along the way.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_04]: Yeah Nick, I think I have a good bye.
- 1:01:09[SPEAKER_02]: That is amazing, Nick.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_02]: Well said, first of all, well said, that was fabulous.
- 1:01:16[SPEAKER_02]: I just like to say, Nick, working alongside you and watching you grow and really hone your craft over these years.
- 1:01:25[SPEAKER_02]: Going from being the guy who's kind of doing the go between and trying to figure out everything, trying to figure out what the studio is going to be, trying to move things,
- 1:01:39[SPEAKER_02]: To being on air with us, to your growth on air, the way you've progressed, just watching that and being, you know, a part of that has been so cool.
- 1:01:48[SPEAKER_02]: Number one and then number two, seeing you just not only be a part such a big part of big play, but then also.
- 1:01:56[SPEAKER_02]: get into the local market.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_02]: Everybody's heard you on 92.3.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_02]: I've told you how many times I've enjoyed on Sunday mornings listening to you and Darrell break down whatever the sports news is of the day.
- 1:02:07[SPEAKER_02]: Everything that you've done on here.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's amazing to see.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_02]: a guy who's just coming out of college to see that progression and the amount of professionality that you have in the way you go about your job on a day and day out basis.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, everybody sees the stupid memes and crap that I do.
- 1:02:24[SPEAKER_02]: What you don't see a lot of times is all of the hard work that Nick puts in and what he puts out there on Twitter.
- 1:02:31[SPEAKER_02]: And when you report something or you have some kind of a source on something that's happening,
- 1:02:40[SPEAKER_02]: I always know, if I'm going to find out what's going on, I could talk to Nick.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_02]: There's a lot of people who I talk to on a day and day out basis.
- 1:02:46[SPEAKER_02]: If I want to find out what's actually going on, I talk to Nick.
- 1:02:49[SPEAKER_02]: And that's been so cool to see you progress from just that college student to somebody who is just a veteran at this point, a veteran who knows the business, who knows what he wants to get.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_02]: and is just successful and so talented as you are Nick.
- 1:03:03[SPEAKER_02]: And I've been very fortunate to work alongside you during this time during this growth for big play.
- 1:03:08[SPEAKER_02]: People don't see the stuff you've done necessarily with on SI or behind the scenes.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot of hard work and you've done all the hard work.
- 1:03:17[SPEAKER_02]: You've done all the homework and everything else that you've needed to do to get to this point in your career.
- 1:03:22[SPEAKER_02]: And I know the next level is going to be huge for you.
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_02]: You're going to continue to progress.
- 1:03:27[SPEAKER_02]: The only thing that I ask for
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_02]: As you never forget us back here at Big Play, don't ever forget all those good times, putting together stages, all the small times, all the losses across all three teams that we've had to endure over the years.
- 1:03:41[SPEAKER_02]: The few ups, the many downs across these Cleveland sports that we cover so adamantly on a day and day out of eight faces.
- 1:03:50[SPEAKER_02]: don't forget all of us.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_02]: You're a fantastic Nick and good luck to you.
- 1:03:54[SPEAKER_02]: Good luck to your lovely family.
- 1:03:56[SPEAKER_02]: Good luck at everything that you pursue going forward.
- 1:03:59[SPEAKER_04]: I'll be around.
- 1:04:00[SPEAKER_04]: I'm definitely not going to be a stranger.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_04]: I'll have news on what life could potentially have for me in the coming days and coming weeks, but I'll be around it and I appreciate all of you guys because I honestly haven't been able.
- 1:04:12[SPEAKER_04]: None of us would have been able to
- 1:04:14[SPEAKER_04]: have done this if it wasn't for each other and it's such a great group that you guys have here and I'm definitely going to be supporting you throughout this whole season and beyond.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I'm with you guys not much more.
- 1:04:24[SPEAKER_01]: I can say because Chris said about amazing a million amazing awesome things in row with just from us young guys.
- 1:04:29[SPEAKER_01]: I think also thank you for showing us the ropes on how to work in
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_01]: This industry and we've all had such a bleep and blast I forgot where I'm live and I can't say that where it's so I'm not going to say that word, but we are going to head to a break and we're back and we're talking with Tyler Danberg here about some Ohio State Texas and then the Guardos Nick here to go now we get
- 1:04:48[SPEAKER_01]: to talk about a football team with a pulse here on the Big Play Cleveland Show.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome on back in Jack O'Rourke alongside Ryan Tyler.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: Very excited.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: It's an out welcome back on Tyler Danberg.
- 1:04:56[SPEAKER_01]: He'll be doing the sideline duties for the Ohio State Sports Network as the bucks head down to Austin this weekend.
- 1:05:03[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler, we had some fun con those before we got going here for a little bit.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_01]: Let's move it off the football now.
- 1:05:08[SPEAKER_01]: Big weekend ahead for the box you guys are hopping on the plane here and a little bit to head down to Austin.
- 1:05:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to get this out of the way right away before we add score prediction.
- 1:05:16[SPEAKER_01]: Biggest thoughts of the game.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: Chris McNeil, our dear friend really wanted to be here to be a part of this interview.
- 1:05:23[SPEAKER_01]: He had to dip out a little bit early today.
- 1:05:25[SPEAKER_01]: Don't tell anyone he wanted to know.
- 1:05:28[SPEAKER_01]: Will you would you rather get the chance to meet Glen Powell or Matthew McConaughey down in Austin?
- 1:05:34[SPEAKER_01]: And, uh, Rhea, I guess just that which
- 1:05:39[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I, I'd probably say Matthew McConaughey, and I'm just so intrigued just the minute he's what Texas is minister of culture, I think McConaughey, I wonder like is he going to wear his, his leather jacket that he's been wearing for like over 20 years.
- 1:05:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, game time temperature supposed to have a heat index of 106 if he's weren't a jacket, but that's at all time power move.
- 1:06:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know if even if Matthew McConaughey can pull that off come this weekend, but yeah, I feel like it's always like a ton of festivities on the sidelines.
- 1:06:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like I remember seeing Hannah Willoughford's post from when you guys were down there or what was it two years ago now, like meeting all those crazy people tired.
- 1:06:17[SPEAKER_01]: Moving into this weekend's game now, what did you see?
- 1:06:20[SPEAKER_01]: We talked a little bit about this on Monday, but kind of maybe you got some more film in you now.
- 1:06:24[SPEAKER_01]: We kind of see more about what's going on with Wingo,
- 1:06:29[SPEAKER_01]: That happened against Ball State last Saturday.
- 1:06:31[SPEAKER_01]: Makes you confident in this book.
- 1:06:33[SPEAKER_01]: I steam this weekend.
- 1:06:35[SPEAKER_00]: The run game exploded in the second half because the first half, they were averaging just under three yards of carry, but then in the second half, that's where they ran for over 200 yards.
- 1:06:44[SPEAKER_00]: And Austin Sarah Vell, the who played right guard and started out right guard in that game, moved over to right tackle, mixed in with gay pants, sickled, sliding in the right guard.
- 1:06:54[SPEAKER_00]: You know, he said that, that.
- 1:06:56[SPEAKER_00]: we weren't connected in that first half talking about the offensive line we had to fix some things get connected and all get together and get on the same page and I think the offensive line working together with the with the running backs to get the run game going in that second half was really great and I'll take it one step further the wider severs and their ability to block and get down field and really pave the way for some of the running backs like you look at the
- 1:07:24[SPEAKER_00]: had an incredible crack block on a guy.
- 1:07:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think it was on a safety for ball state like seen a freshman wiger seaver in his college debut.
- 1:07:33[SPEAKER_00]: Make a couple of big blocks.
- 1:07:34[SPEAKER_00]: Devin McEwen had a couple of huge blocks.
- 1:07:36[SPEAKER_00]: Brock Boyd had a great block or two or three.
- 1:07:41[SPEAKER_00]: In his college debut like that stuff you love to see and so that I think that's something that makes you confident heading into this game The defense looked great.
- 1:07:49[SPEAKER_00]: You know, there's all those questions about how do you replace eight starters three of them top 11 NFL draft picks from the previous year, but you know, I think that
- 1:08:00[SPEAKER_00]: the defensive line looked great.
- 1:08:01[SPEAKER_00]: It looked deep.
- 1:08:02[SPEAKER_00]: I'd be really curious to see how many times defensive players played three straight or four straight snaps because it felt like there was a new guy getting in every single time.
- 1:08:16[SPEAKER_00]: Like, at defense, then, can you add a Jackson Jr. to let the country with eight pressures?
- 1:08:20[SPEAKER_00]: Now, a big emphasis for him is turning those pressures into sex, but guys like, carry wilder, a true freshman.
- 1:08:26[SPEAKER_00]: He's I am grady, a sophomore who showed some flashers last year, and he looked really good.
- 1:08:32[SPEAKER_00]: John Walker had this one past rush at the defensive tackle position that UCF transfers for
- 1:08:38[SPEAKER_00]: where he basically blew up a center and almost pushed him single-handedly into the quarterback.
- 1:08:44[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you know, those are some violent plays from the past Russia, and I think in the second area, J. Timons is a dude.
- 1:08:49[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this guy's became the first true freshman at Ohio State, the start of his college debut since Denzel Burke.
- 1:08:56[SPEAKER_00]: did it back in 2021, he had two pass break ups.
- 1:09:00[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Sanchez had two pass break ups.
- 1:09:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I think the secondary showed a lot, I think the defensive lines show that it could reload and they're wreaking havoc in the backfield.
- 1:09:10[SPEAKER_00]: Now they've got a huge test in archmanting in the Texas offense.
- 1:09:14[SPEAKER_03]: Tyler, you talked about that offensive line for a little bit.
- 1:09:17[SPEAKER_03]: If Ohio State does lose this game, do you think that's what we're going to be putting a magnifying glass on at the end of it?
- 1:09:23[SPEAKER_03]: And is this the kind of game where we find out if that Ohio State offensive line is actually championship caliber?
- 1:09:29[SPEAKER_00]: I think Ryan, this is definitely a proof it came for the offensive line and the beautiful thing about it is this is week two and this is not going to be the only time that Ohio state is going to face a major test in terms of the offensive line and really the entire team as a whole.
- 1:09:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's the beauty of this is that you go out and you went in Austin, you make an absolute statement.
- 1:09:50[SPEAKER_00]: You hold your own, you're competitive and you're still going to make a statement.
- 1:09:56[SPEAKER_00]: when or lose and you know, even if you don't come out a winner.
- 1:10:01[SPEAKER_00]: You've got a lot of other tests.
- 1:10:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, this is an incredibly strong schedule.
- 1:10:05[SPEAKER_00]: You're looking at five or six ranked opponents overall that you could be facing when it's all set and done.
- 1:10:11[SPEAKER_00]: Now, that being said, you want to go out in this ball game.
- 1:10:14[SPEAKER_00]: This team wants to go out in this ball game right and day, we want to go out in this ball game.
- 1:10:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, they want to make a statement.
- 1:10:21[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the offensive line, this is going to be a big game for a big test for them because you got Helen Simmons on one edge of the defensive line for Texas.
- 1:10:30[SPEAKER_00]: You've also got Lance Jackson who was an all-SCC freshman last year on opposite him and Simmons poses a lot of things.
- 1:10:37[SPEAKER_00]: They were using him at middle line back or a little bit last week against Texas State.
- 1:10:41[SPEAKER_00]: So I think this is a big one for the offensive line.
- 1:10:44[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they came in with so many expectations.
- 1:10:46[SPEAKER_00]: Head coach Ryan Day said, you know, the offensive line, especially Carson Hinsman, Luke Montgomery, Austin, Sarah Bell, they're walking on water.
- 1:10:54[SPEAKER_00]: And for them, maybe not to play up to their caliber, at least in the first half last week.
- 1:10:59[SPEAKER_00]: That took a lot of people by surprise.
- 1:11:01[SPEAKER_00]: It probably took them by surprise.
- 1:11:03[SPEAKER_00]: But I think that coming in, you get a brand new week, you get a brand new challenge, you're going to do a hostile environment.
- 1:11:09[SPEAKER_00]: If you can come out and play a great game, I think the offensive line, if they can make a statement as well, that's going to really be a huge boost for the offense as a whole.
- 1:11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Now Tyler, I'm not trying to make a little Tony soprano call from the phone booth right now to tell you what you can and can to answer for this upcoming question, but there's there's definitely an obvious with the buck guys playmakers that yeah they could they could cause Texas some big issues this weekend deep in the heart of Texas.
- 1:11:35[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler, what do you think will be the biggest thing that could be a roadblock for Texas if they're looking to pull off the wind at home and finally start to get some get back on Ohio State after the last two years.
- 1:11:45[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I think that the biggest roadblock for Texas is a guy who wears the number four.
- 1:11:54[SPEAKER_00]: Jeremiah Smith, it's...
- 1:11:58[SPEAKER_00]: it's no secret that Texas in two games against him has had his number.
- 1:12:04[SPEAKER_00]: If anything, Texas is like the last team that Jeremiah has to figure out.
- 1:12:10[SPEAKER_00]: And I think he figures it out this Saturday.
- 1:12:13[SPEAKER_00]: He just means so much to the offense.
- 1:12:15[SPEAKER_00]: You saw last weekend.
- 1:12:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think the offense fed so much off of him.
- 1:12:20[SPEAKER_00]: I think after that 48 yard touchdown catch that was really when the offense settled in and gotten rhythm and I really think that this is this is a Jeremiah Smith signature game that we're going to see Saturday night and I think that's going to be one of the biggest things that Texas is going to need to combat if they're to come out of victory.
- 1:12:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think the other roadblock protects us and I think it's been the one thing that's kind of played them in the two games against Ohio State
- 1:12:47[SPEAKER_00]: And last year is goal to go scenarios because you look at the, the college from all plants on my final game in the cotton pole.
- 1:12:56[SPEAKER_00]: The biggest play happened while Texas was in the red zone facing fourth and goal.
- 1:13:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was the scoop in Sawyer, 83 yard bumblebe return touchdown by Jack Sawyer.
- 1:13:04[SPEAKER_00]: you look at last year, Texas had a chance, I mean, they had a chance twice, they had a goal to go scenario twice, and Ohio State's defense, they talked about give us an inch, we're going to defend it, they defended it twice, they forced a pair of turnovers on downs from the nine yard line of Ohio State and the one yard line of Ohio State.
- 1:13:24[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that's another thing that kind of stands in Texas's way.
- 1:13:28[SPEAKER_00]: Can they find a way to combat punching it in in those goal-to-go scenarios and being more
- 1:13:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if all has these defense can prevent that, it's going to be a good, good night for the buck guys.
- 1:13:39[SPEAKER_03]: Tyler, let's talk about Julian Sane, the man throw on the ball for the buck guys.
- 1:13:43[SPEAKER_03]: Here as Browns fans, obviously, we are very much paying attention to all the college quarterbacks.
- 1:13:48[SPEAKER_03]: It's all about Dante Moore, it's all about our commanding.
- 1:13:50[SPEAKER_03]: We'll be in this game, Lendora's, sellers, insert quarterback.
- 1:13:53[SPEAKER_03]: No, I haven't heard much about Julian Sane being that really good pro.
- 1:13:56[SPEAKER_03]: Is this a game we're Julian Sane has the opportunity to kind of evolve from a really good Ohio State quarterback to being in the conversation as one of the best, if not the best quarterback in the entire country?
- 1:14:08[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely, Ryan.
- 1:14:09[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely.
- 1:14:10[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you look at that throw he had to chair in my last Saturday.
- 1:14:13[SPEAKER_00]: If you watched that throw, if you watched that play and you say that's not a that's not a top three if not the best quarterback in college football right now.
- 1:14:24[SPEAKER_00]: I don't believe you like he is he is everything as advertised and and this is going to be another game that could be a signature one for Julian saying I mean to think about the guy that was making his first college start last year.
- 1:14:40[SPEAKER_00]: and the most anticipated season opener in the history of college football, up to that date.
- 1:14:46[SPEAKER_00]: And for him to go 13 of 20 to pass for 120 yards to win the ballgame, come out of winter, and throw that 40 yard touchdown pass to Cardinal Tate.
- 1:14:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think that was the one signifier of what Julian Sand can be and how much better he's going to be, based off of what we saw in just one start.
- 1:15:04[SPEAKER_00]: I think this is, I think this is a big test in a big statement type of game for Julian Sand, who by the way, in true road games is five-minute as a starter.
- 1:15:13[SPEAKER_00]: You think about his first road start guys, he went into one of the loudest environments in college football in Husky Stadium in Washington last year, where Washington in one 24-strate home games and he helped navigate the buck guys to a victory over a solid Washington team.
- 1:15:30[SPEAKER_00]: you know this is a this is a season quarterback.
- 1:15:32[SPEAKER_00]: This is a guy that's now seen a lot.
- 1:15:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's faced a lot and he's good when he's facing pressure.
- 1:15:38[SPEAKER_00]: Over 61% of his past is last year when facing pressure were completed.
- 1:15:42[SPEAKER_00]: So he is seen a lot.
- 1:15:43[SPEAKER_00]: He's faced a lot and I really do think that that we're going to see one of the best college quarterbacks in the sport take game tomorrow of Saturday night for the black guys.
- 1:15:55[SPEAKER_01]: So Tyler, one thing, I get to solve the time a little bit with Mike Dunbrock over at Notre Dame in CJ car where it seems like every big game you know what this kid has in his arm.
- 1:16:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's there somewhere.
- 1:16:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, they might be playing two safeties a heck of a way down the field trying to prevent you from throwing a deep, but it's like
- 1:16:11[SPEAKER_01]: Gosh, can we get through this cookie cutter offense where we have these weapons and this quarterback with the golden arm and the ball is going five yards.
- 1:16:17[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like there's been moments in big games over the last year of Julian St. where Buckeye's fans have kind of felt similar about him getting the proper opportunities to maybe hook it down field or if it's like, hey, like, why are we running like 95 bubble screens in a row?
- 1:16:31[SPEAKER_01]: Do you see Arthur Smith kind of letting it rip for Julian St.
- 1:16:35[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 1:16:36[SPEAKER_00]: I do see them letting it rip.
- 1:16:38[SPEAKER_00]: Whether that's in the first quarter, second quarter, Ryan Day talks a lot about using tempo as a weapon.
- 1:16:43[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's what makes the Ohio state offense.
- 1:16:46[SPEAKER_00]: Such a big threat is that they've got a lot of different things that they can choose from.
- 1:16:50[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that that poses a lot of different things for a
- 1:16:52[SPEAKER_00]: for an opposing defense because it makes things harder to expect things.
- 1:16:58[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think with the weapons around him, I mean, this is such an explosive offense when we saw a little bit of that last week.
- 1:17:04[SPEAKER_00]: This could be an opportunity for them to really let it fly.
- 1:17:07[SPEAKER_00]: You know, whether I do think that we're going to see that at some point and I think you know, seeing a couple downfield shots last week against Ball State like on that first drive and other were a couple throws that,
- 1:17:19[SPEAKER_00]: that Julian's saying through that we're in completions, but he had a couple of guys open.
- 1:17:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think we learned from that first drive that Arthur Smith and company, they're not afraid to take deep shots early and I think that's exciting to see.
- 1:17:32[SPEAKER_00]: He Smith knows that he wants and has to get the ball to his weapons like Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:17:38[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he was comparing him to kind of getting the ball to Derek Henry when Arthur was at
- 1:17:44[SPEAKER_00]: was with the Titans as their offensive coordinator.
- 1:17:46[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's a very similar situation.
- 1:17:48[SPEAKER_00]: You want to get the ball to your best guys.
- 1:17:53[SPEAKER_00]: What is Jimmy McGinney saying the replacements?
- 1:17:57[SPEAKER_00]: When is always what the ball?
- 1:17:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that we're going to try and see the book as Trent Lewis and how awesome would that be?
- 1:18:05[SPEAKER_00]: And a night game in Austin at DKR and Ohio State to March and Austin and make an early statement,
- 1:18:14[SPEAKER_03]: Alright, Tyler, everybody knows about Cam Coleman, everybody knows about Ryan Wingo.
- 1:18:18[SPEAKER_03]: Everybody knows about Hollywood's feathers, excuse me, and Relic Brown in that backfield.
- 1:18:22[SPEAKER_03]: Let's talk about a guy though for Ohio State and Bo Jackson, who I'm in the first off season of my dynasty and he's in the transfer portal.
- 1:18:28[SPEAKER_03]: I'm trying to throw him 400 coach points.
- 1:18:30[SPEAKER_03]: That's a lot, but I believe in him to come to BYU to replace KJ Martin.
- 1:18:34[SPEAKER_03]: Let's go back to real life, Tyler.
- 1:18:36[SPEAKER_03]: How good is Bo Jackson, and could this be a game where he overshadows?
- 1:18:39[SPEAKER_03]: How good Hollywood's feathers and Relic Brown are?
- 1:18:43[SPEAKER_00]: To put it into perspective, he's the fifth running back at Ohio State to rush for 1,000 yards as a true freshman.
- 1:18:52[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's pretty darn good for the history of running backs at the university.
- 1:18:57[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's a really good running back.
- 1:18:59[SPEAKER_00]: He showed that last week, you know, the big talk in the offseason was,
- 1:19:03[SPEAKER_00]: him improving in the second level being more explosive him getting into the second area and finishing off runs turning those those five yard runs and 10 yard runs and a 15 yard runs and 20 yard runs and ultimately turning it into a 61 yard run last week like it was great to see him break up that touchdown run and and show off a little bit of that big play capability.
- 1:19:25[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to be another marquee matchup for Bo Jackson to try and make an aim for himself.
- 1:19:30[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he's already got a great name.
- 1:19:33[SPEAKER_00]: That definitely attracts the attention right off the rip.
- 1:19:36[SPEAKER_00]: But this is a guy coming off the shoulder surgery and the spring him getting out there in Summer Camp and for him to gain the praise that he did in fall camp from head coach Ryan
- 1:19:51[SPEAKER_00]: not just what he expects and wants him to see from those improvement, but for coach Dave to follow up on how he has met the challenge and how he's really improved.
- 1:20:04[SPEAKER_00]: Getting into the second level, we're going to see the work that Bo Jackson put in this past summer on display come Saturday night.
- 1:20:13[SPEAKER_01]: Tyler, I remember, I think, I mean, two years ago now, obviously when Johnny Baron was still at Texas.
- 1:20:18[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of remember like it was just bracket, bracket, bracket, bracket, bracket, bracket.
- 1:20:21[SPEAKER_01]: And that was just like everything that Texas was throwing Jeremiah's sense of way all day long.
- 1:20:25[SPEAKER_01]: How do you anticipate Texas trying to come out and stop Jeremiah Smith this year?
- 1:20:29[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think it'll be a similar game plan?
- 1:20:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, they have a new defensive coordinator, and we'll must camp a peat-quite cow ski.
- 1:20:34[SPEAKER_00]: There's no doubt that he did a great job in handling Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:20:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think that we're probably going to see in some of the situation in my opinion about how they're going to double team.
- 1:20:44[SPEAKER_00]: And even in the con bull two years ago, I mean, they put three guys on Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:20:49[SPEAKER_00]: But what that did was is that that opened things up for Cardinal tape.
- 1:20:53[SPEAKER_00]: like Cardinal Tade had some huge catches in that game and I think you know he had the he had the big touchdown he had the big fourth-down catch but he just was able to get open a lot more because of all the attention that was shifted on a Jeremiah Smith.
- 1:21:08[SPEAKER_00]: So you've got one first round pick
- 1:21:14[SPEAKER_00]: And he's getting bracketed and then that opens things up for another first round picks.
- 1:21:18[SPEAKER_00]: So that just goes to show you the embarrassment of riches that Ohio State has to offer.
- 1:21:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think that if Jeremiah Smith were to gain the attention that Texas is given in the last couple of years, that's going to open things up for a guy like them and make you coming back to his home state of Texas.
- 1:21:34[SPEAKER_00]: had a great game last week, six catches, 97 yards and a touchdown.
- 1:21:38[SPEAKER_00]: He's super athletic right and they said this week and he's got the chance to be as good as we've had here at the Wajrsever position.
- 1:21:44[SPEAKER_00]: That's pretty good company to be a part of.
- 1:21:46[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that Jeremiah Smith creates so much attention.
- 1:21:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's one of the more underrated parts about who he is.
- 1:21:55[SPEAKER_00]: He's just got such a great presence.
- 1:21:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a lot of respect from opposing defenses.
- 1:22:01[SPEAKER_00]: And even when he's not stuffing the statute, which that is a very, very occasional occurrence, it still has a lot of positive effects on the result for Ohio State.
- 1:22:16[SPEAKER_03]: Tyler, I want to bring it back to, to Julian's saying just one more time.
- 1:22:20[SPEAKER_03]: We're looking at Julian St. Versarch Manning and Archmany as I mentioned, projected number one pick next year, one of the Heisman favorites.
- 1:22:28[SPEAKER_03]: He wears the last name well.
- 1:22:30[SPEAKER_03]: But as there a world where Julian St. could actually be better than Archmany, not even just in the college ranks, but in the professional ranks, because again, I go back.
- 1:22:39[SPEAKER_03]: It's always La Nora Sellers, Dante Moore, Archmany.
- 1:22:43[SPEAKER_03]: Those guys at the top, and I'm sitting here and thinking, well,
- 1:22:46[SPEAKER_03]: What if they done that Julian's saying hasn't and when he look at the accolades?
- 1:22:49[SPEAKER_03]: Well, in fact, Julian's saying's got more than all those guys.
- 1:22:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, you look at the resume blindly, and Julian's resume is one you want.
- 1:23:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's his stats are the ones you want.
- 1:23:05[SPEAKER_00]: You put quarterback A with quarterback B, and chances are, say quarterback A is Julian's saying, that's the guy you want.
- 1:23:12[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, and I think, you know, Saturday night is gonna be another perfect game for Julian, but you know what, what I love most about his game and just who he is as a person.
- 1:23:22[SPEAKER_00]: He's so steady, he's so cool, he's so calm and collected, and will Howard call that California cool.
- 1:23:30[SPEAKER_00]: And the best part about him too, we're talking about it with his high school hand coach, that make Neil at Carl's bad high school in California over the summer.
- 1:23:39[SPEAKER_00]: And he said that, you know, in a 100,000 seat venue,
- 1:23:44[SPEAKER_00]: like a Darryl K royal Texas Memorial Stadium or no higher stadium.
- 1:23:51[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody in that stadium wants, wants their team to win the game, but out of those 100,000 plus nobody wants to win the field more than Julian Sand.
- 1:23:59[SPEAKER_00]: He's got a really competitive, a very competitive mindset in style to him.
- 1:24:04[SPEAKER_00]: But sometimes you might never know it on the outside because of
- 1:24:10[SPEAKER_00]: the composer that he has.
- 1:24:11[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's the guy you want at quarterback, a guy that that is never too high, never too low, always locked in.
- 1:24:18[SPEAKER_00]: He's got to almost a photographic memory, a great command of the offense in his voices grown, this year, his leadership has grown this year.
- 1:24:28[SPEAKER_00]: And you look at that release, you look at the way he spins the ball.
- 1:24:31[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's that's a guy that that can definitely do great things at the next level.
- 1:24:37[SPEAKER_01]: and Tyler to wrap up our Buckeye's conversation before we talk a little bit of guardos here.
- 1:24:42[SPEAKER_01]: With you on this blessed Friday, is there a guy we haven't mentioned yet for Ohio State that fans need to be ready for this, but you can maybe isn't getting enough attention nationally.
- 1:24:51[SPEAKER_01]: Because you were right last week at the Legend Bay, you're one for one on these predictions.
- 1:24:56[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, pressure's on, and after the whole Travis bizarre... Hey, hey, the best thing about two and a no.
- 1:25:04[SPEAKER_00]: I guess so, so this is going to be a tough act to follow, but, you know, I think maybe this is, I'm not going to say this is under the radar because he's been all over the radar.
- 1:25:19[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Sanchez, I think this is the perfect spot for Devon Sanchez to be in the spotlight and have that showcase game.
- 1:25:32[SPEAKER_00]: True freshman last year, one of the highest rated corners in the country, and he immediately comes in and he starts getting playing time.
- 1:25:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, that's at the corner position, especially at Ohio State, they call it BIA for you to make.
- 1:25:49[SPEAKER_00]: headway and the room so quickly to separate yourself and get early run, plan alongside guys like Davis and Ignoson and Germaine Matthews and company that really says a lot.
- 1:26:01[SPEAKER_00]: And then for him to, you know, that half of the year he did, he learned a lot.
- 1:26:04[SPEAKER_00]: He said at times he was timid.
- 1:26:07[SPEAKER_00]: last year and then he got thrust into a key spot in the cotton bogeam against Miami Lorenzer Styles went out and Germaine Matthews slid over to the nickel spot and Devon Sanchez was gaining more time on the outside and he said something along the lines of I wish I'd played like that all the time.
- 1:26:28[SPEAKER_00]: And for him, you know, last week had a good game, two pass break ups, really good in coverage, didn't allow much in terms of catches.
- 1:26:36[SPEAKER_00]: For him to come back to his home state, he's a Houston Texas guy.
- 1:26:40[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I'm sure, you know, growing up, relatively close to the head back here, and you know, you hear a lot of UT Austin, and you hear a lot of the long-warns in the birth orange, such a key part of that region of the state.
- 1:26:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know,
- 1:26:54[SPEAKER_00]: I think he was asked about the schedule, you know, what excites him most about the schedule, that Ohio State faces this year.
- 1:27:01[SPEAKER_00]: And he named all the top-wide receivers of the key opponents that Ohio State's going to face.
- 1:27:09[SPEAKER_00]: And he said, you know, looking at the Texas settings, what excites him most is Cam Coleman.
- 1:27:15[SPEAKER_00]: If that's going to be his assignment came Coleman, I mean, this is a great opportunity for Devon Sanchez to show America what he can bring.
- 1:27:22[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really excited to see what he can do because, you know, seeing him last week like before the game, the energy that he had, the leadership that he showed for just being a true sophomore, you know, he's got the juice and this is a guy many around Columbus can think is the next up in the long lineage of Ohio State corners.
- 1:27:42[SPEAKER_01]: I love that you threw the name Lorenzo Stiles in there just to make sure that I was awake on this fine Friday morning Tyler, I really do appreciate that out of you, my friend.
- 1:27:50[SPEAKER_01]: But let's talk about the Cleveland Guardians Tyler, there are three things that are guaranteed in life.
- 1:27:53[SPEAKER_01]: We all know death and taxes, and of course, your Cleveland Guardians being in the thick of the playoff chase, or leading the playoff chase, comes with time for a guard sitting in that third wild card spot as we sit right now, just a game and a half out in the division.
- 1:28:01[SPEAKER_01]: The white sucks, got to be a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
- 1:28:08[SPEAKER_01]: careful now because we we still got some ball games left to play Tyler.
- 1:28:11[SPEAKER_01]: I just asked you who is the guy for Ohio State that we need to watch on Saturday If the bucks are to Upend the long horns down in Austin Who is the guy that needs skick going for the guardians over the weekend up in the lakes in Minnesota?
- 1:28:25[SPEAKER_01]: So we come back maybe leading the division the next time we talk
- 1:28:30[SPEAKER_00]: Oh boy, what a rush that would be.
- 1:28:33[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, first off, let's give some love to the Pittsburgh Pirate.
- 1:28:36[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 1:28:37[SPEAKER_00]: How about the buckoes for the job?
- 1:28:40[SPEAKER_01]: We might not get bucked sober, but it's the closest thing.
- 1:28:43[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yes it is, and it's a beautiful thing, too.
- 1:28:45[SPEAKER_00]: I, you know what, not even the guy that has to get going but the guy that needs to stay going.
- 1:28:49[SPEAKER_00]: I think, you know, the guards aren't in this spot right now if it's not for the left hand of Parker Messick.
- 1:28:55[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that right now, they need
- 1:28:59[SPEAKER_00]: Parker Messick to stay rolling, you know, it's it's been so cool to see a guy like Parker who's just such an unbelievable human to have the season that he's having right now to potentially be the American league rookie of the year and I think we've seen you know the guardians have done.
- 1:29:20[SPEAKER_00]: Something that's almost been kind of an anomaly in baseball this year where they've had the same five and six starting pitchers out there The entire season long which you just don't see much around baseball and you can tell that you know the the innings or are starting to get a little bit to them I think just because you know They've had to they've had to go five six seven innings so much and they've done that masterfully But this is the point of the year where
- 1:29:47[SPEAKER_00]: arms could run on fumes right and that's just the nature of the game that's that's nothing that's nothing against the starting pitchers that Cleveland has I mean they're still doing an incredible job but I think that here as we get to the middle of September into the playoff push you know when the innings start to rack up
- 1:30:10[SPEAKER_00]: You want the ball in the hands of your consistent guys and you know the starting rotation has been fantastic and I think that parker metric he's really the the key ingredient to
- 1:30:20[SPEAKER_00]: keeping this guardian's rotation in it.
- 1:30:24[SPEAKER_00]: And I think if he can continue to do what he does, I mean, the velocity continues to uptake.
- 1:30:30[SPEAKER_00]: He's just such a bulldog out there out of the mound.
- 1:30:34[SPEAKER_00]: This is, you know what you're going to get from Gavin Williams.
- 1:30:38[SPEAKER_00]: Hopefully, Tanner, bye, we can come up huge for the guardians here in September, Foster Griffin, hope for him to get things going after a tough start.
- 1:30:46[SPEAKER_00]: his last time out, but I think that Parker Messick is really the key ingredient in this rotation the rest of the season.
- 1:30:53[SPEAKER_01]: So Tyler, we play this fun segment every time we talk guardians with you where you just talk me off a ledge on a player and they go out and just have a spectacular stand up Hall of Fame 99 overall caliber week appearance start day whatever after the conclusion of our talk.
- 1:31:09[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not worried about these guys.
- 1:31:12[SPEAKER_01]: They both have right around four ERAs in the MLB through 1340 something innings and they've gotten us to the point in the year where we're at now.
- 1:31:21[SPEAKER_01]: But every time I wake, I like I religiously wake up and just go look at the starting pitching matchup for the day like that's how I get my day going on an everyday basis.
- 1:31:30[SPEAKER_01]: I, whenever I see Bobby or Cancelo, I just get a little like, I've been getting like a little chill up my spine, the last couple of times they've been out and they're both in different cases.
- 1:31:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like it seems like Joey's so much better the second time through the order, by the head issues, especially early in the year with not getting the run support, how confident you feel about one of these guys stepping up to be your number three or four behind the two big dogs and hopefully foster, come play off time.
- 1:31:56[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, you're going to need him, obviously, and Tanner's been a huge part of the rotation these last last three years.
- 1:32:03[SPEAKER_00]: And we saw him, you know, that the playoffs is where he's been able to put together some really strong work the last couple of years.
- 1:32:10[SPEAKER_00]: And Joey can't tell.
- 1:32:11[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I mean, right, I think the rotation is a whole.
- 1:32:14[SPEAKER_00]: Cleveland is nowhere near where it is right now, if it's not for the starting rotation.
- 1:32:19[SPEAKER_00]: And the health of the starting staff has been absolutely impeccable.
- 1:32:24[SPEAKER_00]: That's a credit to Man's or Stephen Vote.
- 1:32:28[SPEAKER_00]: That's a credit to pitching coach Carl Willis, the training staff headed by Chad Wall of Jeff and Jordan's in company, you know, it's a full team effort.
- 1:32:37[SPEAKER_00]: I think that that for Cantillo and Piety really, it's, you know, remember the stuff, remember the things about your pitching profile that got you here in the first place.
- 1:32:48[SPEAKER_00]: And I think for Cantillo, like, leaning on the curve ball and make sure, you know, as long as he's not hanging, but leaning on the curve ball is a big part of who he is.
- 1:32:57[SPEAKER_00]: Um, you know, you listen to a guardian's radio broadcast and Tom Hamilton mentions a lot how, you know, it's a, it's a significant percentage of the amount of times he uses his curveball convert to any other pictures that he uses, you know, that's a guy that that's a guy that can throw a curveball any time in the count.
- 1:33:12[SPEAKER_00]: The change of this also really lethal pitch form as well, especially to right-handed hitters.
- 1:33:17[SPEAKER_00]: I think if he can rely on the secondary stuff and the off-speed stuff that can miss bats, well, not going out of his way to make those mistake pitches, I think that's a big thing.
- 1:33:26[SPEAKER_00]: And for Tanner Bibi, if he can locate his pitchers, I mean, his stuff is also really lethal.
- 1:33:35[SPEAKER_00]: And I think maybe sometimes,
- 1:33:37[SPEAKER_00]: He can get to wrap up in trying to miss bats and maybe when he's not going out of his way to avoid contact.
- 1:33:45[SPEAKER_00]: That's when he's at his best.
- 1:33:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we see those flashes from Tanner when he really is dealing.
- 1:33:51[SPEAKER_00]: And especially when he strings.
- 1:33:53[SPEAKER_00]: You know, two or three good starts together consecutively, boy, look out because that's when he really gets in a group.
- 1:33:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm excited to see how these guys go these these next couple of starts because, I mean, the guardians are going to want to win this division.
- 1:34:05[SPEAKER_00]: They're going to need by being, they're going to need can-tillow.
- 1:34:08[SPEAKER_00]: And if Foster Griffin can, uh, can show us a little bit of what what Nationals fans saw consistently the first four, five months of the year.
- 1:34:15[SPEAKER_00]: Like, look out because the guardians can regain their starting rotation strength.
- 1:34:19[SPEAKER_00]: Boy, this could be a really fun year.
- 1:34:22[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and postseason with the way the AL is wide open right now.
- 1:34:25[SPEAKER_01]: I can't.
- 1:34:26[SPEAKER_03]: Tyler, we all knew that this was going to be the year of the prospects, but I'm not sure anybody may be with those in the Cleveland Guardians organization knew it was going to be to this degree.
- 1:34:35[SPEAKER_03]: We have some young guys playing really meaningful September baseball right now, which young player has changed your review on the Guardians team's sealing the most.
- 1:34:44[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, that's a great question.
- 1:34:46[SPEAKER_00]: We're talking about on Hell Hinal last week.
- 1:34:48[SPEAKER_00]: I think on Hell Hinal, I don't know the record of Cleveland since he got called up, but I'd have to think of it somewhere over 500.
- 1:34:57[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you, Jack.
- 1:34:59[SPEAKER_00]: But I mean, he's provided a shock for this lineup and for this team and just, you know,
- 1:35:07[SPEAKER_00]: the way he's been able to provide a little bit of a spark to the lineup.
- 1:35:10[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's been a very warranted and welcome thing.
- 1:35:14[SPEAKER_00]: I think that's a guy that, you know, he's got the ability, especially as a switch hitter.
- 1:35:19[SPEAKER_00]: He can break things up in the handedness of the order and a very lefty, heavy order.
- 1:35:25[SPEAKER_00]: I think also too, like, such a spark plug is just chased a lot, right?
- 1:35:30[SPEAKER_00]: I
- 1:35:35[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's been the same on him, but I think that, you know, you saw him and I know they didn't beat Baltimore in the series finale, but like for him to, you know, come out, just absolutely had a miscellaneous first at that back from injury, you know, that's that's a guy whose pop you're going to need.
- 1:35:53[SPEAKER_00]: And also, too, it's a very unique thing to have a rookie come in with playoff experience because that, I mean, if you take out, you know, last year alone, like all he knows is the playoff.
- 1:36:05[SPEAKER_00]: So that's a guy that's that's really important to have in your back pocket and at the top of your order.
- 1:36:11[SPEAKER_03]: Tyler, we can't bring up meaningful September baseball without talking about a guy about the name of Jose Ramirez and anytime I talk about Jose Ramirez, I'm kind of careful high word this when it comes to pressure on him and have not performing at the status that we're used to.
- 1:36:24[SPEAKER_03]: Well, if the Cleveland Guardians are going to actually make noise when they do, because I'm saying when and not if they get to the playoffs, Jose is going to have to step up and Tyler, the question is, how much pressure should be on Jose Ramirez to get back to being the Jose Ramirez we know and love over these next stretch series and then ultimately into October baseball.
- 1:36:44[SPEAKER_00]: want to love that positivity.
- 1:36:46[SPEAKER_00]: I think that I think there's that that good kind of pressure on Jose Ramirez.
- 1:36:51[SPEAKER_00]: It's like the pressure we talk about on Ohio State coming into Austin Saturday night like it's that good pressure.
- 1:36:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's that pressure that you know guys you'd have to think welcome.
- 1:37:01[SPEAKER_00]: And I think for Jose, it's a chance for him to prove himself, you know, it's kind of like a fresh start.
- 1:37:06[SPEAKER_00]: Because this has been a season of trial and tribulation for a season of attrition, a season of injury, that he said to whether the storm and, you know, who knows, you know, what he's fought through to get back out there and what he's fought through since he's returned.
- 1:37:21[SPEAKER_00]: Because, you know, those hammy bones,
- 1:37:24[SPEAKER_00]: those are injuries that that linger.
- 1:37:26[SPEAKER_00]: They stay with you.
- 1:37:26[SPEAKER_00]: They don't just happen because you swung awkwardly on a foul ball.
- 1:37:31[SPEAKER_00]: That stuff that happens over time.
- 1:37:32[SPEAKER_00]: It's stuff that stays with you.
- 1:37:34[SPEAKER_00]: You'd have to think.
- 1:37:35[SPEAKER_00]: So, you know, I maybe think of this month or September and beyond as like a fresh start for Jose, because what's in the past is in the past, but he's always got the chance and the threat to win a ball game.
- 1:37:47[SPEAKER_00]: He's got the ability to make a break and game
- 1:37:53[SPEAKER_00]: And opposing pitching staff and a defense, just with the pressure that he provides, you know, that that's a guy still with runners on second and third, he, you know, he, he stalks the plate and you just know and have that feeling still that something good is going to happen in some way, shape or form.
- 1:38:11[SPEAKER_00]: So I think it's that good kind of pressure on Jose in this, this sprint to the finish line.
- 1:38:16[SPEAKER_01]: So we we could have recorded this probably a year ago today and I could have asked you the exact same question Tyler, it seems like for forever there's points in the summer where you look back and you're like, hey, like I see two Roman numerals in the score box.
- 1:38:32[SPEAKER_01]: What I'm trying to look at the game is back.
- 1:38:33[SPEAKER_01]: We're catching up to in this division.
- 1:38:35[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, I'm just going to go focus on the wildcard.
- 1:38:37[SPEAKER_01]: You know, like where we're just going to, we'll, we'll get our wins.
- 1:38:39[SPEAKER_01]: You see to punch tickets to the dance.
- 1:38:40[SPEAKER_01]: If you get in, you can do it ever, right?
- 1:38:42[SPEAKER_01]: We'll go to the wildcard.
- 1:38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Once somehow again, Tyler, we are in this position after being over 10 games out.
- 1:38:47[SPEAKER_01]: Hey, we are a game and a half out of this division right now is sitting on September 11th, Tyler, are we officially at the point where it's like, alright, don't look around the wild card, we're a game up in it right now, hone in on the division, you're only watching the Cleveland Guardians and the Chicago White Sox every night, religiously.
- 1:39:05[SPEAKER_00]: this is what baseball is all about baseball is about that divisional race like this is September guys we've made it it's the it's the sprint it's no longer the marathon it's it's where those those final those final 500 meters uh become just a full-on dead-out sprint like this is this is what you love that you love checking the box scores
- 1:39:26[SPEAKER_00]: waking up every morning with your coffee.
- 1:39:29[SPEAKER_00]: You want to see with the with the other team that you're vying for the division does like, you know, we're celebrating a Pittsburgh Pirates win on a Thursday and September.
- 1:39:38[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you know, awesome is that.
- 1:39:40[SPEAKER_00]: What a beautiful marvelous thing.
- 1:39:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I think, you know, you want to get yourself into the dance to give yourself a chance.
- 1:39:46[SPEAKER_00]: But, um, and, and I think with the American League and just how wide open it is to win a penit.
- 1:39:52[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think that the wild card is definitely if that's the worst case scenario, that's a great case scenario, but like, you know, right now when you think about how much how much time has been invested, how much how much this team has been invested, like go out and win the division, you know, they made those moves to do.
- 1:40:11[SPEAKER_00]: to do exactly that, to go out and win another American Lee Central Crown.
- 1:40:15[SPEAKER_00]: And I think maybe there is a little bit of that inter-divisional pride because the white socks haven't had this in a while.
- 1:40:22[SPEAKER_00]: You know, they're searching for their first Aile Central Titles is 2021.
- 1:40:27[SPEAKER_00]: And I think there's so many similarities between the white socks and the guardians from a play style perspective.
- 1:40:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I think there's bragging rights and pride in the line.
- 1:40:35[SPEAKER_00]: You want to go out, you want to try and come out on top.
- 1:40:39[SPEAKER_00]: These guys are ultimate competitors.
- 1:40:41[SPEAKER_00]: You're doing this for over 162 days.
- 1:40:45[SPEAKER_00]: You want to go out in the division, let alone, just settle for the wild cards.
- 1:40:49[SPEAKER_00]: So these guys know what's at stake.
- 1:40:51[SPEAKER_00]: They know what's ahead.
- 1:40:51[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you want to go out?
- 1:40:53[SPEAKER_00]: You want to try and try to win the A.L.
- 1:40:55[SPEAKER_00]: Central.
- 1:40:56[SPEAKER_01]: the guards in the white socks.
- 1:40:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's like Rick James and Charlie Murphy.
- 1:40:59[SPEAKER_01]: It's just one of the oldest rye lorries you have out there, Tyler.
- 1:41:03[SPEAKER_01]: Every time you come on, we talk guards though.
- 1:41:04[SPEAKER_01]: It feels like 48 a little bit more and more as we start to get down late in the September into October.
- 1:41:10[SPEAKER_01]: That is all the time we have for today's episode.
- 1:41:12[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, a big play Cleveland.
- 1:41:13[SPEAKER_01]: We'll catch you on Monday.
- 1:41:14[SPEAKER_01]: Go guards.
- 1:41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Go Browns.
- 1:41:16[SPEAKER_01]: Go box.
