Transcript
- 0:01[SPEAKER_00]: time for the 49ers rush podcast.
- 0:29[SPEAKER_00]: And here's your host, John Chapman.
- 0:34[SPEAKER_01]: What is going on, faithful?
- 0:36[SPEAKER_01]: It is absolutely incredible to be with everybody today.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: And I am pumped as everybody should be ready to fight basically the 49ers and Titans just concluded their joint practice, which they play a game in two days, which has got to be a lot of fun, obviously.
- 0:53[SPEAKER_01]: But apparently there were about four fights that broke out in the first ten minutes players ejected for post-sides, all kinds of punches thrown, haymakers, whatever else.
- 1:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now, there's so many ways to look at this and I have so many notes from today.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_01]: It will get through the press conferences and all that kind of fun stuff.
- 1:17[SPEAKER_01]: Injury updates you name it, but like let me just say this from a coaching perspective, which is where I usually tend to come from.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: Fights aren't a bad thing.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: Throwing punches is stupid.
- 1:30[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that that's his dumb throwing a punch with somebody wearing a helmet.
- 1:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's just idiotic.
- 1:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's how you get injured, but I love fire.
- 1:37[SPEAKER_01]: And whenever you have these teams that have been holding back and practicing against their own team.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: For so long.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, you got to let the rage out, man.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: And don't get me wrong.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_01]: This is a gray green law.
- 1:56[SPEAKER_01]: Reaction and I love it.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, bully ball baby, Fred Warner out there talking trash, Drake, Green Law out there to live for him.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett Wallow, I think is one to actually throw a punch from a couple different clips that were put out there.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's always a mess to tell whatever, you know, all those players are scrumming and whatever else.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_01]: I love the energy.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_01]: I love this.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_01]: It's a thunder dome.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: We are warriors out now you want the control right you want to make sure you're not doing stupid stuff and I'm sure, you know, whatever these fights happens stupid stuff always happens, but I think it's I think it's great.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: I love the hunger.
- 2:36[SPEAKER_01]: I love the energy.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: I love that from a defensive perspective.
- 2:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure mispronounced the name and I apologize, Camo Ward was behind on a throw to car and L. T. 49ers player pops.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: Tate anyway.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_01]: This is straight from his tweet quote San Francisco tried to knock the shit out of everybody on every play.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_01]: set the tone.
- 3:08[SPEAKER_01]: Set the tone, boys.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man.
- 3:11[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go, Shorsey.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_01]: Like, if you're good, then you're going.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Understand, you're coming into our house.
- 3:18[SPEAKER_01]: This is our practice field.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: You got to understand what that costs.
- 3:23[SPEAKER_01]: I don't give a damn if you're a first round wiper to see for a pick to the top five.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: Don't care.
- 3:29[SPEAKER_01]: We're coming for blood, baby.
- 3:30[SPEAKER_01]: You're not playing dirty.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_01]: But you're putting it emphasis.
- 3:35[SPEAKER_01]: Set the tone, boys, I freaking love it.
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: And the 49ers have with Drake, Green, Law, KB.
- 3:41[SPEAKER_01]: Drake, Green, Law, is that for everything.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_01]: And the mirror to the tone set up for the defense is Debo Samuel for the offense.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_01]: And he's out there scoring three touchdowns in red zone, getting, you know, carries in the back field, doing all kinds of stuff.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: Quote, Debo's is the best shape of his life.
- 3:58[SPEAKER_01]: In Quote, that's from Ted Win.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: He covers the athletic.
- 4:02[SPEAKER_01]: lots of positives there.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to get through.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: I have so much way too much.
- 4:07[SPEAKER_01]: Um, want to say thank you to everybody showing up all of the hashtag CCs, the countdown crew.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, monkey boy, first in the house today was hobby air.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Hello, John made a four speed with the season hashtag CC countdown crew coming in strong.
- 4:22[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, 49ers football is back.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: God of level.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: What's a big red text football is back to me.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_01]: to low for brother.
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate everybody coming out.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: That's right.
- 4:31[SPEAKER_01]: It's like Christmas and August.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: I can't away.
- 4:33[SPEAKER_01]: We have $40 football.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_01]: We have tape.
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: We have film in two days.
- 4:39[SPEAKER_01]: In two days, we will have coaches take to break down as what I've always wanted.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_01]: It's all I've wanted is new football tape to break down.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: If you haven't joined us on the 49ers rush.com or on our Patreon channel, every single play, offense defense special teams from the week's preseason game, which happens Thursday will be broken down for you in detail, highlighting every single play, every single player, the goods, the bads, the uglies.

- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: That is how you show your love.
- 5:31[SPEAKER_01]: That is the way to go.
- 5:32[SPEAKER_01]: So please, please, please, please get over there.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_01]: Thursday.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_01]: cannot wait.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: Tommy, both said injured, both has been injured.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: You did get some more clarification on Nick Bosa which it's so funny like I don't, I gotta be careful what I say here.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: getting like, man, both is holding out and stuff.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm like, two, two, it's got three years left on his contract with so much guarantee.
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like, that's ass of nine was stupid.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: And then I was sorry, if he was holding out, he went and came back and practiced for a week and a half.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just dumb.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_01]: I don't understand where conjecture comes from.
- 6:07[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I understand, both so holds out all the time.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_01]: His brother holds out all the time.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_01]: Their money's first second, third, fourth priority.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, Kyle Shenahead gave some indication about this after the joint practice they saying that, you know, what's it called?
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's 10 to 90s on the ACL repaired knee.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Albert Breer did an article with both the earlier this week, and this was already put out there.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_01]: that he struggles with Tinnonitis because they had to go back and clean up his high school ACL tear and that he's had some Tinnonitis in that knee, which Calshia to hit take this for whatever you will says about 90% of our guys that have gone through ACL say that they have gone through this as well.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: it takes a while for the need to get to where it needs to be.
- 6:53[SPEAKER_01]: ACL's used to take 15 months.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_01]: Then it was down to 12.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: Adrian Peterson shows up.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: Then it's down to nine.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: You can have an MVP season after that.
- 7:03[SPEAKER_01]: Look at what happened the last time posted ahead of ACL goes and wins defense
- 7:11[SPEAKER_01]: But this is not if you're looking for a five alarm fire and that's your narrative and that's how you get clicks.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I get it.
- 7:17[SPEAKER_01]: And you're going to drive that narrative and a lot of people are going to pick up on it.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_01]: This is not one.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_01]: And again, I'm not one to trust Kyle Shanahan with any injury news whatsoever.
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: I do not ever.
- 7:29[SPEAKER_01]: But the fact that Nick Bosa King back and I've said this a few times.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Bosa came back.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_01]: I did not expect him to come off the pup to start training him.
- 7:39[SPEAKER_01]: I did not, I think he's ahead of schedule.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: I expected him after the first or second preseason game to get there and now the update is weak to weak with Nick Bosa.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not overly concerned.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: I probably put it at about I don't know.
- 7:55[SPEAKER_01]: 90% positivity 85% positivity on Nick Bosa play in week one.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_01]: I think that he's got time to do that.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad that he came back.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: You go through these issues in getting back now, not during the season.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_01]: Bosa knows what he's doing.
- 8:12[SPEAKER_01]: And I think.
- 8:14[SPEAKER_01]: Again, I haven't seen the swelling and I haven't seen, you know, the MRIs and all that stuff, so I don't know.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't talked to Bosa, but I am not raising the five alarm fire, whatever else.
- 8:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just not at that place.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really have not.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Now, and again, I'm already way behind on the chat and that's okay.
- 8:38[SPEAKER_01]: That's right, we're getting this party started.
- 8:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, 49ers football today high school football later.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: I love it I love it.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: What's up?
- 8:46[SPEAKER_01]: Draw them over on Twitch.
- 8:47[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 8:48[SPEAKER_01]: You're awesome.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and Nicholas right here is coming off the big injuries.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_01]: Watch it.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: His body.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_01]: Be smart.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_01]: Both of just restructored two months ago.
- 8:56[SPEAKER_01]: Give the conspiracy crap to break.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_01]: Some people are just itching for that stuff.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: And I hate that there's always a market for it.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_01]: Don't be
- 9:04[SPEAKER_01]: don't be a sheep like that man just but if you have to have that you go do that you know who to follow for that that's always going to be there it's it's not anyway do with that what you will christian becafrey did not practice today again
- 9:19[SPEAKER_01]: But what's going through is typical warm up routine.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: What you know, look at good do it all as high knees as a skips.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: And if you've ever been out there and watched Christian Becafrey warm up, it is a pretty regimented, pretty intense warm up routine.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: He went through the whole thing.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: And so it deal with that what you will.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_01]: And Kyle even said, you know, on Christian Becafrey like,
- 9:40[SPEAKER_01]: The job is to get him ready for week one.
- 9:43[SPEAKER_01]: He's good.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_01]: And so overall, not really concerned about that at all.
- 9:47[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans back in practice, that is huge.
- 9:49[SPEAKER_01]: Just did individual and routes, no team stuff against the Titans, but it's nice to have them back out there running routes, looking smooth.
- 9:57[SPEAKER_01]: He's 32.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_01]: So you're not looking as surprised.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_01]: You used to back in the day as a wide receiver, but still, Mike
- 10:04[SPEAKER_01]: And so, like if you're looking for, man, what is the positive injury news?
- 10:09[SPEAKER_01]: Mike Evans is back in practice.
- 10:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's one.
- 10:12[SPEAKER_01]: Number two, no new major injuries to report today after enjoying practice.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 10:18[SPEAKER_01]: Could have had a lot of major issues.
- 10:21[SPEAKER_01]: Thankfully, you got out of this one rough, you know what joint practice people are fighting all that kind of stuff.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_01]: As of now, no new entries to report and this is a day where across the NFL players are getting carted off.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_01]: You're losing starting safeties and free agency.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_01]: They like injuries are happened and they're going to continue.
- 10:39[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to happen for the 49ers.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: But I would argue, this is a little off the cuff here.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_01]: I would argue.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_01]: been stellar from an injury standpoint.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: The Bosa thing, that's a past tense thing.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: The CMC, tightness, whatever else.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_01]: There's been no new major injuries whenever you started this last installment of training camp, right?
- 11:07[SPEAKER_01]: And so this week has gone really, really well.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: That first week was rough.
- 11:13[SPEAKER_01]: And second week, ah, yeah, yeah, not great.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: Things are looking good.
- 11:19[SPEAKER_01]: Things are starting to look pretty damn good.
- 11:22[SPEAKER_01]: Even Kyle Shining had got his cast off.
- 11:24[SPEAKER_01]: Are you kidding me?
- 11:25[SPEAKER_01]: Everybody's getting healthy.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_01]: With our powers combined, like that's kind of where it feels and where things are going.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_01]: I freaking love it.
- 11:36[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's get through a jumble.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: of joint practice notes which we've got a bunch of have to say thank you to our executive producers 49ers George 365 David Gilchory Robbins you guys are the legends that make this show happen thank you so much all right fight breaks out after the first play
- 11:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I love it, man.
- 12:00[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett Wallow took a swing now.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_01]: Bonta Hill, shout out to the Bonta.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: He said, you know, Garrett Wallow would have had a would-be sac later on in team drills.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: So like Garrett Wallow, like the line-backer position showing pressure.
- 12:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's that fever-backer spot, right?
- 12:19[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett Wallow's been taking a lot of two reps there.
- 12:21[SPEAKER_01]: Now, Nick Martin's taking the most first team reps as that third-backer.
- 12:26[SPEAKER_01]: Garrett Wallow to Jaden Dugger.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: He's starting to get some first team snaps as well.
- 12:31[SPEAKER_01]: So those are kind of the three guys that have been there and getting the most snaps.
- 12:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now you also have the starter from last year, getting snaps out there too at that backer spot, which on the unofficial depth chart, let's look at what we're talking about.
- 12:48[SPEAKER_01]: The unofficial depth chart's made by
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: media.
- 12:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's not made by the team.
- 12:52[SPEAKER_01]: So just always understand that.
- 12:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and I even posted two days ago, like, unofficial debt charts come in soon.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_01]: Don't react to it.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_01]: Has nothing to do with what's happening.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: But anyway, still, it's going to happen.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_01]: And it did happen.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Jackson.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 13:07[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you.
- 13:08[SPEAKER_01]: So all these fights break out four fights in the first team.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: 10 minutes.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Drake Green laws back.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 13:15[SPEAKER_01]: Um, Lombardi put out there, Drake Greenlaw destroyed a blocker to blow up a sweet and fight chaos took over on the very next play.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: One of the tights players got kicked out, one of their offensive linemen, Ostick, decolus, um, Ron Burgundy got kicked out.
- 13:30[SPEAKER_01]: So, uh, Drake Greenlaw, I'm telling you, him and Fred Warner are going to be at the center all that.
- 13:35[SPEAKER_01]: Fred's a talker.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_01]: Drake Greenlaw is the enforcer.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_01]: Drey just blows people up, like, and he has a reputation around the NFL.
- 13:48[SPEAKER_01]: People understand.
- 13:51[SPEAKER_01]: You're going into practice, a joint practice gets to 49ers.
- 13:54[SPEAKER_01]: You know who five, seven is if you're an offensive player.
- 13:56[SPEAKER_01]: If you're a guard, uncovered guard, right?
- 13:59[SPEAKER_01]: So like a lot of times, the 49ers run at 31 front, which is three technique goes to the strong side, one technique, which is covering the center, which means there's gonna be a uncovered guard to the weak side to the defense, right?
- 14:14[SPEAKER_01]: So guess what, the weak side or the will linebacker
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: more often than not, is lined up over an uncovered guard, meaning you have the defensive end over the tackle outside shape.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_01]: You have your defensive tackle, your plugger, over the center, the guard is uncovered.
- 14:31[SPEAKER_01]: So in a lot of those run plays, it's the guard's job to get to the weak side backer.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: They know, five sevens go to freaking use his shoulder.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: It's sure enough.
- 14:42[SPEAKER_01]: One of those guards got thrown out of the game.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_01]: Like, Drake, Rene, law, effects everything.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_01]: my favorite player.
- 14:49[SPEAKER_01]: How do you not love 57?
- 14:51[SPEAKER_01]: Who does it love unanticipated?
- 14:55[SPEAKER_01]: I guess it is anticipated.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_01]: Anticipated violence that is coming.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_01]: God, I can't wait, I freaking love it, man, I love it, I love it, love it.
- 15:05[SPEAKER_01]: Next play, we already talked about that one.
- 15:08[SPEAKER_01]: Now Fred Warner, quote, tearing up the Titans office in team, that's from our man, Raj, RSF.
- 15:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now the Fred press conference takes place.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I liked it, a lot of takeaways that he got to get Fred in front of the mic more often.
- 15:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's just so damn good.
- 15:24[SPEAKER_01]: If you ask him a legitimate football question,
- 15:30[SPEAKER_01]: Probably the key takeaway from the Fred Warner press conference.
- 15:35[SPEAKER_01]: I've weighed more practice notes, but I'm trying to try to group together, all the Warner stuff.
- 15:41[SPEAKER_01]: We'll get back to more play by play stuff.
- 15:44[SPEAKER_01]: He said he's more confident in this defensive back group than any other group he's been with since he's been a 49er.
- 15:52[SPEAKER_01]: Let me say that again.
- 15:53[SPEAKER_01]: Fred Warner has more confidence in this defensive back group
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: than any other defensive back group that he's been with, since he joined the 49ers in 2018.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: He went on to say that's not a knock on any other groups before it's just that they're playing with such a confidence and they're sticking playing some sticky coverage and getting their hands on the ball and all those, that is gigantic, especially whenever you look at my biggest weakness or concern with the roster, not just the defense, is the safety position.
- 16:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's the biggest weakness on the team.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: If you get elevated safety play, the defense is unbelievable.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: We even saw that last year with all the injuries.
- 16:34[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever you had two to three games where you got good safety play, the Carolina Panthers game, there was the cold game, the defense is freaking lights out when you get sub performance safety play.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: defences what it is, right, which was busted up with all the injuries, lack of pastries, all those different things.
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: So if the DB group is playing that well, you got to love it.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_01]: And Fred, I mean, that that is a glowing endorsement that he did not have to give.
- 17:09[SPEAKER_01]: He didn't have to give.
- 17:10[SPEAKER_01]: And this is something we talked about all offseason, bringing in Raheem Morris, who's a DB centered coach, bringing in Jerry Gray to work with the
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: The last time they had a DB centered coach with Steve Wilkes and guess what?
- 17:26[SPEAKER_01]: Jaiyer Brown looked like a functional safety with upside back to back here, sorents and saw it absolutely awful.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: One of the worst safeties in the NFL, which Jaiyer Brown or you're going to get had an interception today, make it a play, that is huge, build the confidence.
- 17:43[SPEAKER_01]: Jaiyer Brown,
- 17:46[SPEAKER_01]: His upside is ball skills.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, shoot picked off Patrick McCombs and Super Bowl.
- 17:49[SPEAKER_01]: That's incredible.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_01]: Again, rookie year with Wilkes, right?
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: Can you return to that?
- 17:54[SPEAKER_01]: Can you eliminate the negatives?
- 17:56[SPEAKER_01]: He's always been able to get his hands on the football, but can you eliminate the major negatives?
- 18:01[SPEAKER_01]: That's the step that we need to see from two seven.
- 18:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's where game film comes into.
- 18:08[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's gonna be a big deal.
- 18:11[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really do with some big pop up.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_01]: Rahim Morris bring a great defense defense back coach with him.
- 18:18[SPEAKER_01]: It's just huge.
- 18:19[SPEAKER_01]: Fred doesn't lie.
- 18:20[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I'm with you Ben.
- 18:21[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, last hero says, you know, it's high praise.
- 18:26[SPEAKER_01]: If this is the best DP room we've had in Calston, it's the best cornerback depth by a mile.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_01]: by a mile.
- 18:33[SPEAKER_01]: It is the best corner back depth.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now you've had Richard Sherman, you've had Jason Varendt, you've had Emmanuel Mosley, but you never had guys behind them.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jacob Robertson, making the play of the day on a diving intercept in interception.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like Jacob Robinson is getting work with the last rotation in corners.
- 18:51[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think he's going to make the 53.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think that's a shock, but his sticky coverage, it's evident in camp.
- 18:57[SPEAKER_01]: Consistently, run games, his main concern, but the ball skills are there.
- 19:02[SPEAKER_01]: I love Jacob Robinson, but you have dipped Jack Jones, Kyle Lee, man.
- 19:08[SPEAKER_01]: Nate Hobbs, we're not even talking about that guy.
- 19:11[SPEAKER_01]: You draft Ephesian's price.
- 19:17[SPEAKER_01]: So many corners safety's the issue.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: Can you move some of those guys to say if you haven't done it yet you could talk about moving up to the staff to say if you haven't done it yet Yeah, let's see there.
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Sean.
- 19:28[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you green laws my favorite player because of his intensity Yeah, I freaking love it man.
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Oh
- 19:36[SPEAKER_01]: Love it, love it, love it.
- 19:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we got green lot to add the AVI's back in there.
- 19:40[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, yes.
- 19:42[SPEAKER_01]: What's up to Taurus?
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 19:44[SPEAKER_01]: It's talk about all the people that chat.
- 19:45[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, juice that like button.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_01]: If you're watching us, we appreciate you.
- 19:48[SPEAKER_01]: We are here pretty much every day for the rest of the year.
- 19:51[SPEAKER_01]: Now I've got in laws and town.
- 19:53[SPEAKER_01]: So my timing is going to be a little bit off the next couple of days, but that's OK. We'll be having shows and all kinds of different stuff.
- 20:01[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, yeah, we're going to.
- 20:02[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the trade for Crosby, that's it.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: You don't trade guys with ACLs that ain't happening.
- 20:07[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously, this is over.
- 20:08[SPEAKER_01]: We're not talking about that.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_01]: Ben, we're witnessing the infancy.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, of the next Super Bowl winner.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_01]: Enjoy this, right?
- 20:16[SPEAKER_01]: I will say like,
- 20:19[SPEAKER_01]: This is the time for all football fans, not just 49ers, like you should have hope and optimism with your team right now.
- 20:25[SPEAKER_01]: I understand all the injury scares and whatever else bring with it kind of a dampening or a wet blanket type of approach and just like, man, it's kind of hard to get like excited, none of the injuries that have taken place outside of Ricky Pearsaw, which this is an injury that happened last September, are long-term injuries.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, there's a lot of guys with tightness, yeah, there's some hamstring, there's some calfstrings, those are ridiculous.
- 20:53[SPEAKER_01]: Those are short term.
- 20:56[SPEAKER_01]: Overall, long term issues, the 49ers have done well so far, knock on wood.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: This should be a time of hope and optimism.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: We get to see rookies get to play in the 49ers uniform for the first time.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Two, like, Thursday, it's Tuesday,
- 21:16[SPEAKER_01]: How are you not, like, you should be pretty pumped about where things are right now.
- 21:23[SPEAKER_01]: You really, really should.
- 21:24[SPEAKER_01]: So just kind of check your attitude sometimes.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_01]: I get negativity, dominate social media and algorithms or whatever else.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: There should be a lot of hope and optimism right now around the 49ers.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: You have seven potential Hall of Famers on this roster.
- 21:39[SPEAKER_01]: Returning, returning.
- 21:42[SPEAKER_01]: returning to Sean Stripley's look at like a freaking boss, consistently, whenever he's out there, jaded ducker who knows could be the next fifth round gym in a long line of fifth round studs, like there's a lot of optimism that should be out there.
- 22:00[SPEAKER_01]: It really, really should captain right here.
- 22:03[SPEAKER_01]: I got high hope for Jerry Gray going to get those safety's back in order.
- 22:06[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I want.
- 22:08[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jack Jones is having a good camp, but it's Jack Jones like, and this is kind of the problem with, you know, camp reports is the positives get reported consistently and if you're a quarterback, then it's bad gets reported the interceptions and whatever, but like Jack Jones, I've been out there.
- 22:32[SPEAKER_01]: But that's Jack Jones, you know what you're getting with him.
- 22:34[SPEAKER_01]: And if he's going to be your backup corner, dude, this has got that started for three consecutive years in the NFL, yeah, he's patch it crazy in his play style.
- 22:43[SPEAKER_01]: But that's okay, you don't mind that with DVs.
- 22:46[SPEAKER_01]: You can do a little crazy with the defense of back.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_01]: And the fact that Jack Jones isn't starting as a testament to this defense of back group, like Fred Warner said, you brought Jack Jones, you brought Nate Hobbs in to compete,
- 22:59[SPEAKER_01]: to try to get Diomador la Nure up and stout.
- 23:03[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Renardo Green to step up.
- 23:06[SPEAKER_01]: All of them have stepped up.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_01]: So like there is no controversy with who's starting or position battles.
- 23:13[SPEAKER_01]: No, no, no.
- 23:15[SPEAKER_01]: Instead, you have veteran depth, which is a sign of a quality football team at a premium position.
- 23:22[SPEAKER_01]: Cornerback is that.
- 23:25[SPEAKER_01]: I, has not been the modest operandi of John Lynch and Kyle Shetty and with the 49ers corner back groups and say, been here.
- 23:34[SPEAKER_01]: This is different at that position.
- 23:38[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, but this this time is different.
- 23:42[SPEAKER_00]: Hey, still your bike.
- 23:43[SPEAKER_01]: uh robber what's up man john i'm sitting here price it out my sports card collection oh dude i love it uh but not so bad now i can hang out with you guys in the band of the favor robber pre-shade should be a can't wait to be with you soon all look at this j p l hard in the chat pre-shade you guys uh but you just said share the yard put your in laws above us no it's it's not like that definitely not like that um yeah it being cited man i i i love that i i really really do let's get back to some notes i'm gonna fall behind in the chat that's okay
- 24:14[SPEAKER_01]: Fred Warner awesome and more things he talked about jaded dugger and just man he said love I think like four times when asked about jaded dugger he said I just love them He has a rare skill set as scarce skill set that is rare said Fred Warner on jaded dugger Not afraid of contact his instincts are good still makes a lot of rookie mistakes That's not going to be reported out there in the soundbites Thursday is a really good opportunity for him watching jaded dugger plays worth the price of the mission
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, it's huge, man.
- 24:45[SPEAKER_01]: Cause he's so damn raw and the tape showed that.
- 24:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I'm so pumped about it.
- 24:51[SPEAKER_01]: Up and stout, making plays all over the place.
- 24:54[SPEAKER_01]: My biggest concern, and I've voiced this in the past and I put this out on Twitter and you know, I got some traffic, whatever else.
- 25:03[SPEAKER_01]: And I said, you know, my biggest concern is that this five man front
- 25:10[SPEAKER_01]: that Rahim Morris does and the fever backer and getting jade and dug her and Nick Martin out there is that look man if you have a five man front or a four or three you don't have a nickel backer.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_01]: I went up and stout playing as much as possible.
- 25:24[SPEAKER_01]: I want to play in 80% of the sense.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's my biggest concern.
- 25:27[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm loving all of the playmaking that continues to happen with up and stout and his rise to greatness.
- 25:35[SPEAKER_01]: Again, people complain about this front office lack of home runs in the draft, and I'm not so sure, Brock party was guaranteed home run.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's a home run.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_01]: However, you classified that was hit out of the park, most valuable player in that draft class, not just for the four to answer the entire draft class you got him last, I would argue, Dominique Pony was probably a double or triple in the next draft, and then I'm going to say up and stout, come on man.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, 20, 25, let's go, baby.
- 26:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's close, like he's a double, can he be better?
- 26:12[SPEAKER_01]: Now, people quote tweeting and responding to me, saying, oh, he's gotta play way more than that.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: He's gonna play more than that.
- 26:17[SPEAKER_01]: But like it's just, like, I don't know, I'm concerned about this.
- 26:22[SPEAKER_01]: It's a good concern to have, but it's just something keeping an eye on.
- 26:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want five man fronts and four, three overs if up to the doubts on the sidelines.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_01]: That is a problem that I have.
- 26:34[SPEAKER_01]: That is a problem.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_01]: Now, they are moving stout around much more notorious could stout be a corner back to if green doesn't fall out this year.
- 26:42[SPEAKER_01]: I think it would be Jack Jones up if you needed another outside corner.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the natural move eventually would be for stout to play some safety types type looks.
- 26:59[SPEAKER_01]: If you're gonna do that, pull off Marquis Seagull, pull off Giair Brown, move up into safety.
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: If you're gonna do that five man front or feverback or whatever stuff you're gonna do, I want him out there every play.
- 27:13[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want 20 off the damn field ever, ever.
- 27:16[SPEAKER_01]: Put him on offense.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: He's now your number two ruddy back like I Don't think people understand how high time I am about up in stout.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: I just I'm It's like godly man Can we can we can we extend them already?
- 27:35[SPEAKER_01]: Is that you you can't you got to wait till they complete their third season, but I'm just like due to stout him
- 27:41[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's stout going to be a 10 year 49er that just starts at Nickel and it's just that guy I've said so many times stout has the potential to be the best nickel corner in the NFL, which is now a premium position.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh.
- 27:54[SPEAKER_01]: Man, all right, back to practice.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry, guys.
- 27:57[SPEAKER_01]: I get too excited.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_01]: Depot, man.
- 27:59[SPEAKER_01]: Gotta talk about Devo.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: Same everybody talking about Devo.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_01]: I'm getting a lot of backfield reps said Ted win.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: Best shape he's ever seen him in.
- 28:08[SPEAKER_01]: Devo cooking from RSF.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: Off it's a player's not named Devo.
- 28:12[SPEAKER_01]: Off to a slow start at the start of practice as from Victor Thur.
- 28:16[SPEAKER_01]: Um, every time I look over on the other side of the field, um, to Sean Stribleen is making a catch.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how that got in my debo notes.
- 28:23[SPEAKER_01]: Sorry about that, uh, but shout out to Stribleen right there, it continues to stack good days.
- 28:27[SPEAKER_01]: Debo had three touchdowns and red zone period alone.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_01]: He caught a few middle of the, uh, middle of the field passes, which is those Debo and breakers and had a huge play from Matt Jones.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_01]: So you're talking multiple periods.
- 28:41[SPEAKER_01]: Where Debo Samuel was showing.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_01]: he's where he was.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_01]: That is good.
- 28:49[SPEAKER_01]: Now, I am still, I want him to be a jack of all trades type guy.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want him to be the starter.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_01]: whatever else.
- 29:03[SPEAKER_01]: I get it with where we're at now.
- 29:05[SPEAKER_01]: I really want like in two wide receiver sets.
- 29:08[SPEAKER_01]: I want my Kevin's in the Sean Stripling to be out there, but I get it.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_01]: There's going to be a rotation and there's going to be plenty of time for Stripling to be the guy.
- 29:14[SPEAKER_01]: I could certainly like a lot of people are, and I appreciate everybody's stuff coming in.
- 29:20[SPEAKER_01]: Say, dude, I'm really concerned.
- 29:21[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle's just going to force feed the ball to debo again.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_01]: with CMC healthy.
- 29:25[SPEAKER_01]: Debo has a backup running back in that regard.
- 29:28[SPEAKER_01]: You can still do some of the screen chat sweep stuff.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_01]: I'm hoping it goes well.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_01]: Alfredo, why does cone hate on the 49ers because he understands the algorithm and that people will talk about him.
- 29:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's not a sports fan.
- 29:41[SPEAKER_01]: He's not anything.
- 29:43[SPEAKER_01]: He just understands how negativity gets clicks and you kind of feeding into that.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_01]: So
- 29:47[SPEAKER_01]: that's what that is.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, do what you will.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_01]: He works hard and he's an entertainer.
- 29:52[SPEAKER_01]: Don't go there for football information.
- 29:55[SPEAKER_01]: But that's okay.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_01]: You do what you got to do.
- 29:57[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, though.
- 29:58[SPEAKER_01]: And man, I want to see people be successful.
- 30:01[SPEAKER_01]: Even though I have him blocked and he has be blocked and all that stuff and his whole camp is whatever that's cool.
- 30:06[SPEAKER_01]: I hope they have success and I hope that they make money.
- 30:09[SPEAKER_01]: That is their goal and they're going to keep doing that.
- 30:12[SPEAKER_01]: So do what that what you will.
- 30:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, this was interesting to be a lot of negativity for Matt Mayoco today from practice on the early part.
- 30:22[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know Matt Mayoco's the man.
- 30:25[SPEAKER_01]: He's awesome.
- 30:26[SPEAKER_01]: He's got more access to the team than anybody else.
- 30:31[SPEAKER_01]: Take that for what you will.
- 30:33[SPEAKER_01]: Um, five minutes and not a bad thing.
- 30:36[SPEAKER_01]: fighting in a bad thing.
- 30:37[SPEAKER_01]: He was really upset about that, but fighting is a good thing.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_01]: Do what that, what you will.
- 30:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right there, shade.
- 30:44[SPEAKER_01]: I want to be wrong about Debo.
- 30:47[SPEAKER_01]: Give me that crow.
- 30:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'll eat it, unsalted.
- 30:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yes, being wrong is the best thing ever.
- 30:52[SPEAKER_01]: Junior Burger becomes the next stud, slot wide receiver.
- 30:57[SPEAKER_01]: Gyer Brown becomes a proble free safety.
- 31:01[SPEAKER_01]: Man, yes, like that is
- 31:06[SPEAKER_01]: I am a 49ers fan that is a former coach that just loves being here and talking 49ers football.
- 31:11[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 31:12[SPEAKER_01]: That's all I am.
- 31:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not here to prove myself right on takes.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_01]: It happens a lot of times because we watch so much tape.
- 31:21[SPEAKER_01]: Don't care about being wrong.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_01]: It's I am not here for me that I want it again.
- 31:28[SPEAKER_01]: Our tenants of what the 40 hours rush podcast is or our purpose is episode 1,691 increase the fan experience for you guys and to teach about football That's it and increase the community of course.

- 31:45[SPEAKER_01]: outside of that.
- 31:47[SPEAKER_01]: Man, it's all details.

- 33:05[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers rush road trip dot com.
- 33:08[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you guys.
- 33:09[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Joseph.
- 33:10[SPEAKER_01]: You are the freaking man.
- 33:11[SPEAKER_01]: All the nice kind words.
- 33:13[SPEAKER_01]: I appreciate you guys.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: You're awesome.
- 33:14[SPEAKER_01]: Now back to practice notes.
- 33:17[SPEAKER_01]: Um, with Jacob Cowen out when they were practicing punts, here's the rotation, um, shout out to Noah Furtado for this Jordan Walkins first up.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: That's huge.
- 33:27[SPEAKER_01]: Haven't seen that.
- 33:28[SPEAKER_01]: As in the case, Trent Erwin, Junior Bergen will Pauline.
- 33:32[SPEAKER_01]: They were the first ones up for returning punts.
- 33:35[SPEAKER_01]: Will Pauline seems to be the guy.
- 33:37[SPEAKER_01]: I like that Jordan Walkins is ceasing his opportunity while number six, you know, Jacob Cowen is out with the hip flexor.
- 33:44[SPEAKER_01]: still a lot to be determined in that punt return battle is debo going to be the all the time punt returner i wouldn't be i would be cool with that or is he just the dynamic returner because a lot of times you have two separate returners at punt because you want to say for a turner that's just better at building the ball if there's a chance for a fair catch then you have your dynamic returner whenever
- 34:05[SPEAKER_01]: The opposing team is punting within their own 40 right.
- 34:08[SPEAKER_01]: So if they're punting with their own 40 and there's a chance for a return you put debo out there.
- 34:13[SPEAKER_01]: If they're punting for midfield or trying to, you know, pin you deep.
- 34:16[SPEAKER_01]: Then you put your safe returner that has better hands, debo does bobble it a lot.
- 34:21[SPEAKER_01]: Let's head into his pads a little too often.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_01]: um, do with that kind of what you will.
- 34:26[SPEAKER_01]: Larry worth.
- 34:27[SPEAKER_01]: Um, on the interception that Jacob Robinson had earlier, uh, this is from a local Larry worth had a pressure on that play, which led to the diving interception from Jacob Robinson.
- 34:37[SPEAKER_01]: Love to see that.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_01]: Brock perty cooking during red zone drills, throwing it and with his feet shout out to RSF to touch down to democracy Robinson.
- 34:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm telling
- 34:51[SPEAKER_01]: I can't quit to Marcus Robinson.
- 34:53[SPEAKER_01]: I just can't.
- 34:54[SPEAKER_01]: Not only is he the playoff hero, number one wide receiver to Marcus Robinson, he gets quit me on Mitchell, cooked him, sent, kept the Eagles home.
- 35:04[SPEAKER_01]: These stay home.
- 35:06[SPEAKER_01]: Two touchdowns to Marcus Robinson, perady to feral touchdown.
- 35:10[SPEAKER_01]: Again, more Luke Feral touchdowns.
- 35:14[SPEAKER_01]: Like he is stepping up his receiving gaming couch and
- 35:19[SPEAKER_01]: at the press conference after practice today asked about the tight in room and he said, I really feel like a lot of those players that were here last year and are back now.
- 35:28[SPEAKER_01]: And so you're talking, you know, feral, you're talking Jake Tondis, you're talking Braden Willis,
- 35:34[SPEAKER_01]: They've also increased their receiving game and blocking game.
- 35:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think that that is huge.
- 35:40[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously Luke Feral couldn't be worse, but this is not one, two, three practices of Luke Feral and Brock Party hooking up.
- 35:48[SPEAKER_01]: And Luke Feral's getting almost all of the exclusive first team reps.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_01]: when it's one tight end, Luke ferals the tight end with the ones.
- 35:55[SPEAKER_01]: He is your starter.
- 35:57[SPEAKER_01]: Jake Tonchis comes in in two sets and is the number two team tight end.
- 36:01[SPEAKER_01]: I wish that would switch, but ferals had a really good can't.
- 36:05[SPEAKER_01]: We're not out here to root against players.
- 36:08[SPEAKER_01]: That's not what we do.
- 36:10[SPEAKER_01]: The hope is Luke Farrell can ascend and step up his game like he is being paid to play.
- 36:17[SPEAKER_01]: That was a crazy contract that they gave him and he did not live up to it at all on offense.
- 36:20[SPEAKER_01]: Now, stud special teamer, you do have to give Luke Farrell that he is a consistent top three special teamer last year.
- 36:27[SPEAKER_01]: So you're hoping that continues.
- 36:30[SPEAKER_01]: But can actually be a receiving threat, just even a check-down merchant I'd be cool with.
- 36:36[SPEAKER_01]: But there were times Lashra, a rock-party saw a feral open, pump-faked in, like, I can't throw it's stone hands.
- 36:42[SPEAKER_01]: And we'll see what that looks like.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_01]: Also, a rock-party had a rush touchdown in red zone drills as well.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_01]: So, you're talking three touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown just in the red zone period for a rock-party.
- 36:56[SPEAKER_01]: From Bonta, Nick Barton popped a tight-end, nice open feel tackle was awesome.
- 37:01[SPEAKER_01]: Jayden Tucker getting reps with the ones.
- 37:03[SPEAKER_01]: Osa blows up J.C. Lathom, another scuffle starts.
- 37:07[SPEAKER_01]: Next play, Gyer Brown picks six on the interception.
- 37:10[SPEAKER_01]: Both defensive ends got pressure on that play.
- 37:13[SPEAKER_01]: Don't know who that was.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_01]: This is
- 37:15[SPEAKER_01]: this was a report from uh torn in Davenport who covers for the Titans.
- 37:20[SPEAKER_01]: So he's not, you know, occupied with the 49ers players, but you know, I'm going through both beat reporters.
- 37:26[SPEAKER_01]: All their stuff is best that I can.
- 37:28[SPEAKER_01]: After that played Cardinal Tate, slammed his helmet on the ground, shout out to Caesar Bass for that one.
- 37:34[SPEAKER_01]: So like you're talking about a run of plays where Nick
- 37:43[SPEAKER_01]: You know, Osa blows their guy up and gets in the back field, gets a pick six, wide receiver's pissed off door and his helmet on the side.
- 37:50[SPEAKER_01]: This is what you want from a joint practice.
- 37:53[SPEAKER_01]: 49ers defense just being in control of the environment.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_01]: And this isn't against the twos and the threes.
- 38:00[SPEAKER_01]: This is Carnell Tate.
- 38:02[SPEAKER_01]: This J.C. Latham.
- 38:03[SPEAKER_01]: This Cam Ward.
- 38:06[SPEAKER_01]: You've got to love pissing the other team up.
- 38:09[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what it reminds me of?
- 38:10[SPEAKER_01]: Like, and again, this is blown out of context, but that's what we're here doing.
- 38:14[SPEAKER_01]: Let's be honest, man.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_01]: We're trying to have some freaking fun here.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_01]: You remember freaking 2019 against the Jacksonville Jaguars like Jimmy G's like first or second start and they had this elite defense and, you know, Jalen Ransie all that stuff and he's just dicing them up and have any answers, but whatever you're pissing the opposing team off and they're throwing their helmets to the ground and all these different things.
- 38:39[SPEAKER_01]: That's exactly what you want.
- 38:41[SPEAKER_01]: The defense being in control.
- 38:43[SPEAKER_01]: Are the Titans a good team?
- 38:44[SPEAKER_01]: They are not.
- 38:46[SPEAKER_01]: But Kim Worsen number one pick.
- 38:48[SPEAKER_01]: Jc latheum's number one pick.
- 38:52[SPEAKER_01]: Carnal Tates a number one pick.
- 38:53[SPEAKER_01]: It's not like they don't have talent.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_01]: Ah, I freaking love it.
- 38:59[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_01]: The ball keeps finding dribbling.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_01]: love that that's from Ted win to Marcus Robinson another touchdown down the right sideline that's from Raj Alfred Collins with the would be sack again.
- 39:15[SPEAKER_01]: He can't sack the quarterback where you finish play who knows that's from torn down in port.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_01]: Marquis Sigo could have blasted Carnell Tate on a post route but he pulled up not to lay out the wide receiver.
- 39:26[SPEAKER_01]: Are you kidding me?
- 39:28[SPEAKER_01]: Are you kidding me?
- 39:29[SPEAKER_01]: That is the thing.
- 39:30[SPEAKER_01]: What did
- 39:31[SPEAKER_01]: Marquis Siegel talked about.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_01]: He's like, I've got to get faster and keep my speed and make better plays on the post, right there.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_01]: Marquis Siegel could have blasted Cornell tape on a post.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_01]: Talked about it yesterday, boom, today top five pick, right where he's supposed to be.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_01]: And you don't want to do that in a joint practice.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_01]: You don't want to do that.
- 39:50[SPEAKER_01]: Marquis Siegel likes to hit, by the way.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_01]: Like he will do that.
- 39:53[SPEAKER_01]: You better watch out, man.
- 39:57[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, more from just Titans Beatwriters, pretty impressive watching Fred Warner diagnosed plays, Matt Jones through a couple of interceptions throughout the day, Matt lively three wide receiver Titans stood out from Matt lively said,
- 40:13[SPEAKER_01]: to Sean Strubley, to Marcus Robinson and Braden Willis, not the first time Braden Willis has shown out.
- 40:19[SPEAKER_01]: Toshen and even said his name specifically and said he is in Proof dramatically.
- 40:24[SPEAKER_01]: I was at the training kit where he had the one hand behind the freakin' body laying out kind of Odell Ketch.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_01]: They really like Braden Willis.
- 40:33[SPEAKER_01]: He has the perfect makeup for this all-purpose tight end.
- 40:41[SPEAKER_01]: he's just been on the outside looking in.
- 40:43[SPEAKER_01]: And if Kittle is going to miss time, which Kittle's looking better and better, hopefully he doesn't, but you kind of have to anticipate that.
- 40:50[SPEAKER_01]: Your top three tight ends, it's going to be Luke Feral.
- 40:53[SPEAKER_01]: Low Scotto's Jake Tonjus, and Brain Willis.
- 40:56[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your three guys.
- 40:59[SPEAKER_01]: Those are your three guys.
- 41:01[SPEAKER_01]: Um, uh, you guys are awesome.
- 41:03[SPEAKER_01]: And appreciate y'all.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, let's see here.
- 41:05[SPEAKER_01]: Go through the chat, appreciate you guys.
- 41:09[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, what's up, dude?
- 41:10[SPEAKER_01]: Glad you hear Sparkle's own.
- 41:11[SPEAKER_01]: Never get a catch you live.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: Big fan job.
- 41:13[SPEAKER_01]: Big fan of you.
- 41:14[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate you, man.
- 41:15[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you so much.
- 41:17[SPEAKER_01]: Love it, love it, love it, yeah, a lot of comments right here.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_01]: Shane, yeah, D-Rob is chapsboy, big to, I love consistent players.
- 41:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't like to Marcus Robinson as a starter.
- 41:26[SPEAKER_01]: I just think like he is like the best number five wide receiver in the NFL and he's good with every damn quarterback.
- 41:34[SPEAKER_01]: He's good with Brock, he's good with Nick Jones, he's good with Adrian Martinez, he's good with Curtis work.
- 41:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he has been for two years in a row now.
- 41:40[SPEAKER_01]: Like that is just a guy you keep.
- 41:43[SPEAKER_01]: like you just know what you're getting.
- 41:46[SPEAKER_01]: If one wide receiver is injured, if it's your X, he could play X.
- 41:49[SPEAKER_01]: If it's your slot, he could play slot.
- 41:51[SPEAKER_01]: If it's your Z, it could play Z.
- 41:53[SPEAKER_01]: You can do it all.
- 41:54[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's I don't want him starting and I think what separates to Marcus Robertson is he has always been an elite wide receiver on the red zone.
- 42:04[SPEAKER_01]: And I wish he was always in red zone snacks.
- 42:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like I used to get pissed off whenever I could say it now.
- 42:12[SPEAKER_01]: Ricky Pearsaw is in there and it's like third and goal.
- 42:14[SPEAKER_01]: Ricky Pearsaw can't score touchdown, save his damn life.
- 42:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's not where he is successful.
- 42:19[SPEAKER_01]: He's successful in the middle of the field.
- 42:21[SPEAKER_01]: Meanwhile, in the sideline number seven, who double digit touchdowns consistently, like that is what he does.
- 42:29[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, yeah, D Rob should be in there and goal line possessions, like even overstripling.
- 42:35[SPEAKER_01]: Like he's that good at the red zone.
- 42:38[SPEAKER_01]: He just does it.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: He does it.
- 42:39[SPEAKER_01]: He does it.
- 42:40[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this colleague.
- 42:41[SPEAKER_01]: Party will be MVP finalist this season.
- 42:44[SPEAKER_01]: That would be huge.
- 42:45[SPEAKER_01]: He's not too far off in the betting lines.
- 42:48[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to dive in there.
- 42:49[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see if Perti trusts Ferrell in the games last year.
- 42:52[SPEAKER_01]: He did not.
- 42:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's been going to him a lot all through training camp.
- 42:56[SPEAKER_01]: It really, really has.
- 42:57[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Tonjus, not being a starter is criminal.
- 43:00[SPEAKER_01]: You're paying them.
- 43:03[SPEAKER_01]: I just think they always want him to be that accent piece.
- 43:07[SPEAKER_00]: Gosh, I love him.
- 43:08[SPEAKER_01]: Starting left guard was Robert Jones has been for the past few days.
- 43:11[SPEAKER_01]: Again, Chris Forster talked about this, how they're trying to see, they want all the guys to get snaps at right guard.
- 43:18[SPEAKER_01]: So you've got Carver Willis as the number two left guard at practice today, and you've got Connor Colby as the number two right guard.
- 43:25[SPEAKER_01]: And one of the things that I thought was interesting in the left guard conversation, they asked Kyle Shanahan
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: about the left card spot.
- 43:33[SPEAKER_01]: He said, too early to say it's definitely, you know, Charlie to say who it is.
- 43:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's definitely open to everybody.
- 43:39[SPEAKER_01]: He's the first guy.
- 43:40[SPEAKER_01]: Chris forced her to do this.
- 43:42[SPEAKER_01]: He's the first guy to say would love to get Carver involved.
- 43:47[SPEAKER_01]: And then he went on to say it was really hard with him missing so much time.
- 43:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think Carver is going to be the eventual center.
- 43:53[SPEAKER_01]: He's even taken center.
- 43:54[SPEAKER_01]: Snap's finally.
- 43:56[SPEAKER_01]: I do think that it is a two-horse race for the left-guard spot, but who knows?
- 44:00[SPEAKER_01]: Nobody's finalizing and showing it's their job.
- 44:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's why the job's still open.
- 44:07[SPEAKER_01]: Connor Colby got the first crack at it, didn't lock it down.
- 44:11[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Jones got the second crack at it, didn't lock it down.
- 44:14[SPEAKER_01]: You're going to see a lot from those two guys.
- 44:16[SPEAKER_01]: Like I wouldn't be shocked if
- 44:19[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Jones starts left guard in Connor Colby starts right guard Thursday.
- 44:24[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think Dominic puny's going to be out there.
- 44:27[SPEAKER_01]: So we'll see there.
- 44:30[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see what that is.
- 44:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, right here 404.
- 44:33[SPEAKER_01]: Doug is going to be a gem.
- 44:34[SPEAKER_01]: I hope he continues his progress.
- 44:36[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge.
- 44:37[SPEAKER_01]: Ah.
- 44:38[SPEAKER_01]: That is huge, man.
- 44:39[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 44:40[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 44:41[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 44:43[SPEAKER_01]: one of those guys that would they drafted about thought he was going to be an edge guy they put them at lineback or moved them to edge for two practices to move them back to linebacker i don't like all the moving around that's okay jacks john if the season started tomorrow who are you five to six wide receivers ooh all right let's do looks right mike evidence lock
- 45:06[SPEAKER_01]: Sean Stribling lock, Debo lock to Marcus Robinson lock.
- 45:10[SPEAKER_01]: Those are my four locks.
- 45:12[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not even discussing it.
- 45:13[SPEAKER_01]: Unless with the Marcus Robinson, we do a gentleman's agreement and we say, hey, we're going to wave you or we're going to cut you.
- 45:19[SPEAKER_01]: You're not subject to waivers as a veteran.
- 45:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to give you a couple hundred extra thousand guaranteed money.
- 45:24[SPEAKER_01]: Bring you back on the practice squad bump you up.
- 45:27[SPEAKER_01]: You're not gonna let that's against CBA rules, but Kaushen and does it every single year.
- 45:31[SPEAKER_01]: But again, Evans, Stribbling, Debo, to Marcus.
- 45:37[SPEAKER_01]: Christian Kirk's rough, man, one practice.
- 45:40[SPEAKER_01]: When's he getting back out there?
- 45:42[SPEAKER_01]: Is he safe now?
- 45:44[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 45:45[SPEAKER_01]: Cow ain't, don't know.
- 45:47[SPEAKER_01]: Walkins, I probably, probably Jordan Walkins.
- 45:53[SPEAKER_01]: Then Wesley Grimes, I love Wesley Grimes.
- 45:55[SPEAKER_01]: But I don't think you have to be worried about him being stole from somebody else.
- 45:59[SPEAKER_01]: With Pauline's man, if you're not going to keep counting, Pauline's probably going to be your punt returner, ah, take him counting.
- 46:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's hard, man.
- 46:06[SPEAKER_01]: That wide receiver room, it's totally very similar to the left guard.
- 46:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you want one of these spots, you got to go get it.
- 46:14[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, three free season games.
- 46:16[SPEAKER_01]: You have another joint practice set up coming up in two weeks.
- 46:24[SPEAKER_01]: who wants it.
- 46:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's open.
- 46:27[SPEAKER_01]: The door is open.
- 46:29[SPEAKER_01]: You know, there's three to four locks to the wide receiver room.
- 46:32[SPEAKER_01]: That's it.
- 46:33[SPEAKER_01]: You keep five to six.
- 46:35[SPEAKER_01]: It's Christian Kirk's safe.
- 46:38[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
- 46:40[SPEAKER_01]: And that's going to be a hard one.
- 46:42[SPEAKER_01]: Strably, it is going to be a stud.
- 46:43[SPEAKER_01]: He was one of our Rush Crush, one of the 13 favorite players in this draft.
- 46:47[SPEAKER_01]: Loved him.
- 46:48[SPEAKER_01]: didn't have him ranked that 33.
- 46:49[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, yeah, it was high to nine.
- 46:53[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck dude, I keep saying this.
- 46:55[SPEAKER_01]: At the practices, I was at Ramello height, indisernable.
- 47:02[SPEAKER_01]: And it's early.
- 47:04[SPEAKER_01]: He's going to get playing time.
- 47:07[SPEAKER_01]: And discernible so far.
- 47:10[SPEAKER_01]: But you don't get to hit the quarterback.
- 47:12[SPEAKER_01]: You don't even get close to the quarterback.
- 47:16[SPEAKER_01]: Ooh, we'll see, oh notorious, what's up, man?
- 47:19[SPEAKER_01]: Our resident fullback Titan expert.
- 47:22[SPEAKER_01]: I've always been high on Braden Willis.
- 47:24[SPEAKER_01]: If he makes an impact this year, I want everyone to acknowledge me as the tribal chief, PS, it's not often I'm right.
- 47:29[SPEAKER_01]: Come on, man.
- 47:31[SPEAKER_01]: You are always right, my friends.
- 47:32[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate whenever you're here.
- 47:33[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate your friendship and all the comments I love it.
- 47:36[SPEAKER_01]: Call the ifs dribbling gets 600 plus yards and four to five touchdowns, I will acknowledge him.
- 47:40[SPEAKER_01]: That would be better than anything that Recompere saw is done.
- 47:45[SPEAKER_01]: to put it into perspective, right?
- 47:48[SPEAKER_01]: Do I speck dribbling to get over 600 yards?
- 47:53[SPEAKER_01]: I do.
- 47:54[SPEAKER_01]: I do, I really do.
- 47:56[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it's gonna take long for him to be the guy out there and two wide receiver sets, which I think you're gonna have a lot of when Kittle comes back.
- 48:04[SPEAKER_01]: where it's gonna be 21 personnel.
- 48:07[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McCaffrey, Kyle use check, George Kittle out there.
- 48:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's gonna be 12 personnel.
- 48:12[SPEAKER_01]: Christian McCaffrey, Kittle, and then one of the other two tight ends out there.
- 48:16[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever it is, that's just two wide receivers.
- 48:18[SPEAKER_01]: I think strippling is gonna be that guy more often than not.
- 48:21[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's what they want.
- 48:25[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, man.
- 48:26[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, we'll Paul and consistently looking nice.
- 48:28[SPEAKER_01]: I'm a Wesley Grimes guy, just because I like bigger body wide receivers, but we'll Paul and doing his job.
- 48:35[SPEAKER_01]: There ain't no doubt about that.
- 48:37[SPEAKER_01]: None.
- 48:39[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Cowen has to stop straining muscles.
- 48:41[SPEAKER_01]: I love him.
- 48:42[SPEAKER_01]: Never miss one game in college.
- 48:44[SPEAKER_01]: Five consecutive seasons without a misgain.
- 48:48[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob routes on air, um, cowling, strained his hamstring very first practice last season in training camp comes back five weeks later very first practice back strength again missed the whole season.
- 49:01[SPEAKER_01]: Made it through a week of practices then strained his hip flexor do that hip flexor you strain that that hurts if you've ever done that anytime you get up out of a chair you lift that leg anything it is almost impossible to rest that damn thing and once it's strained.
- 49:17[SPEAKER_01]: Good luck.
- 49:18[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how long he's going to be out.
- 49:19[SPEAKER_01]: But if Coward doesn't play in any preseason game, he's gone.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: He's gone.
- 49:23[SPEAKER_01]: He has to prove that he's a football player in the NFL.
- 49:27[SPEAKER_01]: He has not done that at this point.
- 49:30[SPEAKER_01]: There's no locks by any imagination.
- 49:34[SPEAKER_01]: All right, here, big red.
- 49:36[SPEAKER_01]: John, can't wait to have a beer with you in Dallas.
- 49:38[SPEAKER_01]: Turn it 40 tomorrow.
- 49:39[SPEAKER_01]: Happy early birthday, big red.
- 49:41[SPEAKER_01]: Niners and Texas football on the doorstep.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so hyped.
- 49:43[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go, man.
- 49:44[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 49:47[SPEAKER_01]: in the house.
- 49:48[SPEAKER_01]: Happy early birthday buddy.
- 49:49[SPEAKER_01]: You are the best of us and so thankful for you.
- 49:51[SPEAKER_01]: Can't wait to share a beer and break bread or drink bread together.
- 49:56[SPEAKER_01]: And Dallas is going to be a blast.
- 49:57[SPEAKER_01]: My friend cannot wait.
- 49:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you guys are awesome.
- 50:01[SPEAKER_01]: Um, let's see here.
- 50:02[SPEAKER_01]: We, we, we're, I love this.
- 50:04[SPEAKER_01]: It's Evans in Debo.
- 50:06[SPEAKER_01]: We are talking about Shady here.
- 50:07[SPEAKER_01]: I know.
- 50:08[SPEAKER_01]: Shaw, John is shanked, it's psyched, but not really telling us much about what happened today.
- 50:14[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't there.
- 50:15[SPEAKER_01]: I got, I got, I got family in town, man.
- 50:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so that's just kind of the way it goes.
- 50:19[SPEAKER_01]: So I apologize.
- 50:20[SPEAKER_01]: There's no video that's allowed to take place during team period for the 49ers.
- 50:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's what it is.
- 50:27[SPEAKER_01]: Now, now I do want to talk more about this.
- 50:33[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Sheddyhand's press conference and the thing he said is, John, did you hear Kyle's comments about juice being out?
- 50:38[SPEAKER_01]: Looks like to be a conglomerate of players taking over juice's role.
- 50:44[SPEAKER_01]: Well, juice used to just be the full back.
- 50:47[SPEAKER_01]: But then last year after week one, whenever Kittle went out, juice took over a lot of Kittle's role as that tight end option.
- 50:58[SPEAKER_01]: It's so since Kittle's been out, yeah.
- 51:01[SPEAKER_01]: juices been doing a lot of that stuff.
- 51:03[SPEAKER_01]: Now he's out as well, Brandon Willis is the guy to step into that role.
- 51:07[SPEAKER_01]: So that's kind of where that goes.
- 51:09[SPEAKER_01]: And again, Kyle talked about CFC is job is to get ready week one.
- 51:18[SPEAKER_01]: So it's Kyle use check.
- 51:20[SPEAKER_01]: They've already shown enough.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: They're veterans.
- 51:22[SPEAKER_01]: They've been through this.
- 51:23[SPEAKER_01]: They played 10 years, like 10 plus
- 51:29[SPEAKER_01]: their jobs to get ready for week one and broken finger all that kind of stuff do what you want to do for that and you know talking about Brock Perti one of the things that I really really liked.
- 51:38[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Shetta had said you know.
- 51:39[SPEAKER_01]: Brock's a really good player.
- 51:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't really notice the good place anymore because I expect them.
- 51:45[SPEAKER_01]: I noticed the really bad place.
- 51:48[SPEAKER_01]: Did notice any really bad place from Brock today.
- 51:50[SPEAKER_01]: Thought he had a hell of a day.
- 51:52[SPEAKER_01]: That's as nice.
- 52:00[SPEAKER_01]: that's it.
- 52:02[SPEAKER_01]: No concert on CMC, entering Lingering, Lingering said, Kyle, he said, looked great during warmups.
- 52:08[SPEAKER_01]: We don't want to make it something to be concerned about by Russian and back.
- 52:12[SPEAKER_01]: Very exciting to get dribbling back.
- 52:14[SPEAKER_01]: Kyle Shannon said, quote, I love him getting reps. We need to get him ready for an NFL game.
- 52:20[SPEAKER_01]: They said they're given him a lot said starters will not be playing Thursday for the 49ers won't be many starters playing.
- 52:28[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Sala, the Titans quote everyone's playing in quote.
- 52:33[SPEAKER_01]: So very similar to what you saw last year with the Broncos in the first preseason game, where it's the 49ers two's against the Titan starters.
- 52:43[SPEAKER_01]: That's what you're going to get.
- 52:44[SPEAKER_01]: You are going to get a premium look.
- 52:47[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 52:50[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you are, what are the crazies that you want to bet a pre-season game, understand it is the 49ers' two versus the Titans ones.
- 52:59[SPEAKER_01]: How long will they play one series, two series, whole quarter?
- 53:02[SPEAKER_01]: They're trying to rebuild and establish a culture.
- 53:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're completely different franchises going in completely different directions.
- 53:09[SPEAKER_01]: Now, if you are a crazy person and you do bet preseason games, I just want to say you scared the shit out of me, but if you do bet this year, whether it's preseason season long or you want to bet with us over at the 49ers rush.com or a patreon, only one place to go.

- 54:45[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_01]: Let's go.
- 54:52[SPEAKER_01]: All right, here we go.
- 54:54[SPEAKER_01]: Let's get to some of these questions, comments, and keep this conversation going.
- 54:58[SPEAKER_01]: I'm loving it.
- 54:59[SPEAKER_01]: Ben, question for everyone.
- 55:01[SPEAKER_01]: Does anyone remember a rookie, wider, severe looking as good as dribbling?
- 55:06[SPEAKER_01]: hint.
- 55:07[SPEAKER_01]: I can remember that Jay Rice did not think about that.
- 55:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, Jay Rice had the drops problem and all those things.
- 55:13[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, media, a coverage of teams wasn't like it was, is it like it was back in the day now, every single rep, everything getting reported all the time.
- 55:25[SPEAKER_01]: I can't think, and again, I started this in 2017.
- 55:29[SPEAKER_01]: So since Shanahan has been here, I've been doing the 49er's first podcast.
- 55:33[SPEAKER_01]: We have been doing.
- 55:34[SPEAKER_01]: It's not just me, sorry, misspoke there.
- 55:37[SPEAKER_01]: I can't think of a rookie wide receiver getting this much.
- 55:40[SPEAKER_01]: I really, really can't.
- 55:41[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you just go back through recent C, shoot.
- 55:47[SPEAKER_01]: Recapiris all never practice his rookie year, ever during train.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_01]: I think you have like two practices.
- 55:53[SPEAKER_01]: You had Jacob Cowain looked all right, definitely space creator.
- 55:56[SPEAKER_01]: Jacob Cowain, sorry, Jordan walkins look pretty good through campus here.
- 56:01[SPEAKER_01]: That was a big one.
- 56:02[SPEAKER_01]: Brendan Iyook, that was a weird year with COVID and whatever else.
- 56:08[SPEAKER_01]: Depot, Trent Taylor looked good and he kind of started from the jump and that slot.
- 56:13[SPEAKER_01]: But no, the answer is no.
- 56:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now the thing for stripling that is key, he cannot miss anymore reps.
- 56:20[SPEAKER_01]: Whenever he missed with the hamstring tightness or whatever it took five days away, I like the preventative side of it.
- 56:26[SPEAKER_01]: I've talked about that extensively.
- 56:30[SPEAKER_01]: Strippling can't miss it anymore.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_01]: Tybe, these preseason games are going to be huge.
- 56:33[SPEAKER_01]: He's lighten everybody up every single day in practice.
- 56:36[SPEAKER_01]: It has been a positive when the shots drippling is out there.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_01]: Can that translate?
- 56:42[SPEAKER_01]: Now, again, what did Kyle shed a hand say about him?
- 56:46[SPEAKER_01]: You know, we need to get M ready for his first NFL game.
- 56:49[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's always this kind of curtailed.
- 56:53[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of cut back the expectations a little bit because he is a rookie in the Shadowhead scheme, which is the most advanced calculus, wide receiver position in the NFL.
- 57:05[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see, but the thing about stripling that I think is probably not getting talked about enough is the lack of negatives.
- 57:15[SPEAKER_01]: I remember Jordan Walkins running the wrong route and leading to an interception in the pre-season game that he got injured, right?
- 57:21[SPEAKER_01]: That was kind of the end of what we heard of Jordan Walkins his rookie year was basically done.
- 57:25[SPEAKER_01]: He fought back for his injury, got back to the active roster, whatever else, but they kept healthy scratch it out because he wasn't passing anybody on the depth chart.
- 57:34[SPEAKER_01]: That was the worst wide receiver group, maybe in playoff history for the 49ers.
- 57:38[SPEAKER_01]: And he couldn't crack the starting lineup.
- 57:41[SPEAKER_01]: You're not keeping to Sean Strivley now to this lineup.
- 57:44[SPEAKER_01]: Period, not if the consistency and the playmaking ability continues.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_01]: I think that is what is so different.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, there we go, JJ Stokes had a lot of hype.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you, Robert Bruce.
- 57:57[SPEAKER_01]: Again, not before my time.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_01]: Dante Petis didn't have them much hype.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_01]: I remember the pre-season games and early on the season.
- 58:03[SPEAKER_01]: If somebody was gonna make contact with them, but he was scared.
- 58:07[SPEAKER_01]: Like that's think it's not seven on seven if it was Dante Pettis would be a legend Got hit one time and dude was like alligator arm and everything the Tories PA Look kind of solid is rookie year, but I don't think he looked as good as strip club has yeah, we have to see how that goes You had that hurdle week two.
- 58:24[SPEAKER_01]: I remember that that was cool Why do you think strip club has looks so good?
- 58:31[SPEAKER_01]: Is he that good or did that he's better prepared from college football?
- 58:35[SPEAKER_01]: He's experienced.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_01]: He was the most experienced wide receiver to come out of this draft class.
- 58:38[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_01]: We rated.
- 58:40[SPEAKER_01]: I think we had like 38 wide receivers.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_01]: We rated one through 10 on experience based on their Snaps throughout their college career.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_01]: He was 10 out of 10 over 3000 career reps. Game reps for three separate conferences three separate teams.
- 58:56[SPEAKER_01]: He went through the gauntlet.
- 58:59[SPEAKER_01]: He had the experience coming into his rookie year, right?
- 59:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so like that is one of the things that I think helped him, but then you look at his frame, dude, six, two runs a four, three.
- 59:10[SPEAKER_01]: Strong as hell, Marine dad, like, and mature off the charts, like, that is huge.
- 59:18[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think those are the things that have helped him.
- 59:22[SPEAKER_01]: The Niners have thrown way too much at him.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_01]: He's learning all three wide receiver spots at the same time.
- 59:29[SPEAKER_01]: But man he's doing it.
- 59:31[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, crap.
- 59:32[SPEAKER_01]: She didn't even play in training camp.
- 59:33[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know, piss me off right there.
- 59:36[SPEAKER_01]: Born got a lot of reps in rookie camp.
- 59:38[SPEAKER_01]: That is correct.
- 59:39[SPEAKER_01]: He did that was that 2017 where they overhauled everything.
- 59:43[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well said, well said there.
- 59:46[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Snoop glad to see you in here, man.
- 59:48[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, look at this.
- 59:49[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to football coachy question.
- 59:51[SPEAKER_01]: What's your take on the Oklahoma drill?
- 59:53[SPEAKER_01]: Is it outdated or a ride of passage?
- 59:57[SPEAKER_01]: I've seen some messy entries on the Oklahoma drill.
- 59:59[SPEAKER_01]: And if you don't know what this is, there's lots of variations of it, but essentially get two players very far apart.
- 1:00:07[SPEAKER_01]: Laying on their back is the traditional way to do it.
- 1:00:09[SPEAKER_01]: You say, set go.
- 1:00:10[SPEAKER_01]: They jump up, run full speed, and just right off to receive each other.
- 1:00:15[SPEAKER_01]: I like the ones where you have an offensive defense of linemen, a backer, and a running back, and you set goals like they get to hear you lose or win whatever.
- 1:00:27[SPEAKER_01]: Relatable to football, but that's like a high school thing probably wouldn't do it to the college level.
- 1:00:32[SPEAKER_01]: Probably wouldn't do it in the NFL.
- 1:00:34[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely not in the NFL level.
- 1:00:36[SPEAKER_01]: But no, I don't think it's outdated.
- 1:00:38[SPEAKER_01]: But you have to go through a tackling training camp before you can do that otherwise people get hurt right you have to learn how to tackle like the days of doing the Oklahoma drill first day and pads that is bullshit that is dumb as hell you need to go through a tackling training camp to help people learn how to tackle see what you hit head up all those things to get to that point to mitigate injuries these are kids, but at the same time, man, I vividly remember I'm 43 years young I remember my first Oklahoma drill.
- 1:01:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember again, put on my rear end.
- 1:01:10[SPEAKER_01]: I still remember John Thompson.
- 1:01:11[SPEAKER_01]: I remember the kid that did it.
- 1:01:14[SPEAKER_01]: Um, yeah, his dad was the coach.
- 1:01:17[SPEAKER_01]: He kicked my ass.
- 1:01:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember saying, I'm going to like that mother effer up and eventually I got to that point.
- 1:01:26[SPEAKER_01]: So like it's going to learn and again, I always say this football,
- 1:01:31[SPEAKER_01]: It can't build character, but it always reveals it, like from a young age, you get slobber nuts and are you the dude that's going to cry and go home to mom, are you the dude that's like, okay, I want to do that to other people, like who are you?
- 1:01:43[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think that it's outdated.
- 1:01:46[SPEAKER_01]: I think society needs some more figure out who the hell you are.
- 1:01:51[SPEAKER_01]: You got to find out right now.
- 1:01:53[SPEAKER_01]: Um, anyway, do it that.
- 1:01:54[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, shot, Jay, man, blast from the past.
- 1:01:57[SPEAKER_01]: What's up, Steve, man?
- 1:01:58[SPEAKER_01]: So good to see you at here.
- 1:01:59[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for the super chat.
- 1:02:00[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing to add, just good to see.
- 1:02:02[SPEAKER_01]: Great to see you, too, man.
- 1:02:04[SPEAKER_01]: Really, really appreciate that.
- 1:02:05[SPEAKER_01]: The Tory says, yeah, outdated in your opinion.
- 1:02:09[SPEAKER_01]: Nothing wrong with that.
- 1:02:11[SPEAKER_01]: Captain, I was kind of the Oklahoma drill.
- 1:02:14[SPEAKER_01]: I loved it so much.
- 1:02:16[SPEAKER_01]: I liked the drill, but hits.
- 1:02:18[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you know where it is.
- 1:02:21[SPEAKER_01]: Anyway, yeah, I don't think it's outdated.
- 1:02:23[SPEAKER_01]: You just got to be smart with it.
- 1:02:25[SPEAKER_01]: just got to be smart with it.
- 1:02:26[SPEAKER_01]: Look at this.
- 1:02:28[SPEAKER_01]: We got K mark in the chat, what's up, man, represented the nine or faithful appearance.
- 1:02:32[SPEAKER_01]: Seattle, you guys are the best of the best behind enemy lines.
- 1:02:34[SPEAKER_01]: Appreciate what you're doing.
- 1:02:36[SPEAKER_01]: Love it.
- 1:02:37[SPEAKER_01]: It says, how well do you think the defense will be with the defensive coordinator, where he more said, again, I go back to this all the time.
- 1:02:43[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Saul is awesome.
- 1:02:45[SPEAKER_01]: very different.
- 1:02:47[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Sola is at his worst versus quality offensive play colors, schemers.
- 1:02:53[SPEAKER_01]: He gets dissected all the time because his rules are simple.
- 1:02:57[SPEAKER_01]: And he doesn't disguise.
- 1:03:00[SPEAKER_01]: Reheem Morris is much more of a junk ball type defensive coordinator.
- 1:03:06[SPEAKER_01]: He's got through a lot at you, multiple multiple multiple, looks crazy, simplistic on the back end.
- 1:03:13[SPEAKER_01]: Very multiple chaotic up front, back in chill, right?
- 1:03:16[SPEAKER_01]: What is every single defensive back talk about?
- 1:03:18[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, it's so easy.
- 1:03:19[SPEAKER_01]: Just making everything easy or not thinking, not thinking, not thinking, mean while up front, what do they say?
- 1:03:25[SPEAKER_01]: Man,
- 1:03:26[SPEAKER_01]: learning a lot, playing multiple positions, all that stuff.
- 1:03:29[SPEAKER_01]: So it's very different.
- 1:03:32[SPEAKER_01]: The thing I'm most excited about, Rahim Morris is against those top-notch play colors, McVay, AD Reed, Kevin O'Connell, the Kubex, like all that kind of stuff.
- 1:03:42[SPEAKER_01]: That is where Rahim Morris is going to shine, where Rahim Morris is going to struggle as against inexperienced quarter-packs.
- 1:03:51[SPEAKER_01]: Robert Sol is gold.
- 1:03:55[SPEAKER_01]: When Robert Sala plays a young inexperience quarterback, that dude just dominates this shit out of him.
- 1:04:01[SPEAKER_01]: He really, really does.
- 1:04:02[SPEAKER_01]: But Robert Sala against an experienced quarterback and a top tier play caller, you kind of know what's going to happen.
- 1:04:09[SPEAKER_01]: You kind of know what's going to, especially if there's an injury, like when Fred went out, the secret sauce was gone.
- 1:04:15[SPEAKER_01]: Sol is awesome like very glad for both of his stance here wish it would have been longer.
- 1:04:22[SPEAKER_01]: I thought he kind of played himself short and where he went, but wish nothing but the best for him.
- 1:04:28[SPEAKER_01]: Um, and I like Cam Ward.
- 1:04:30[SPEAKER_01]: I really do Jeff or Simmons won the best DTs in the game.
- 1:04:33[SPEAKER_01]: Love Carnell Tate.
- 1:04:34[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of positives there.
- 1:04:37[SPEAKER_01]: I hope because this is probably his last chance as a head coach.
- 1:04:41[SPEAKER_01]: You you you fail here with that
- 1:04:44[SPEAKER_01]: probably done.
- 1:04:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope that's not the case, but yeah, that that's probably what I'm most excited about with Rahim Morris.
- 1:04:51[SPEAKER_01]: So that's what we're going to take from there.
- 1:04:53[SPEAKER_01]: Man.
- 1:04:54[SPEAKER_01]: One more day, and then we got 49ers football Thursday.
- 1:04:58[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, can't wait.
- 1:04:59[SPEAKER_01]: We will have a live show tomorrow evening with Larry, which I'm going to be really excited about.
- 1:05:05[SPEAKER_01]: That's going to be fun.
- 1:05:06[SPEAKER_01]: So if you have questions, join us.
- 1:05:07[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be live around 715 always have to say around 715 with Larry.
- 1:05:11[SPEAKER_01]: He's got so much stuff going on in the end laws and all that so I think you get permission with the wife.
- 1:05:17[SPEAKER_01]: That's okay.
- 1:05:18[SPEAKER_01]: I'm going to do it.
- 1:05:19[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to do it.
- 1:05:20[SPEAKER_01]: If I get trouble, it's y'all's fault.
- 1:05:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm blaming y'all.
- 1:05:22[SPEAKER_01]: You guys are the best, hopefully you enjoyed today's show, and until next time, off foot at 49ers football's back, baby.
- 1:05:29[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 1:05:30[SPEAKER_01]: Till next time, stay strong, baby.
