- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Almost Famous Podcast with iHeartRadio. All right.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hi, guys. Welcome back to the most dramatic dance floor ever.
- 0:09Speaker 2: It's your hosts, Trista and Deanna. And I, for one,
- 0:13Speaker 2: was so happy. My cheeks were hurting at the end
- 0:18Speaker 2: of the show. So many smiles last night. Such a
- 0:21Speaker 2: great start with Not only the first episode that we
- 0:26Speaker 2: already recapped with the guys performing, but now adding the
- 0:29Speaker 2: girls to the mix. It was so good. What did
- 0:32Speaker 2: you think?
- 0:32Speaker 1: It was so hot. I've never wanted abs in my
- 0:36Speaker 1: entire life. But now that you have me watching this show, Trista,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I woke up this morning and I was like, I'm
- 0:41Speaker 1: going to start working out. I'm going to work out.
- 0:43Speaker 1: I'm going to wear crop tops. I'm going to just
- 0:45Speaker 1: be as hot as I can ever. They were so hot.
- 0:49Speaker 1: There is just something beautiful about women anyway. And I
- 0:52Speaker 1: know I said this in our last podcast. Just the
- 0:55Speaker 1: way their bodies move, right? They're smaller. They're not as
- 0:57Speaker 1: big as my man, Tyler. But just the elegance in
- 1:02Speaker 1: the women's body, the way they move on the dance floor.
- 1:05Speaker 1: I loved it. I totally agree.
- 1:09Speaker 2: And I feel like it got started with a bang.
- 1:11Speaker 2: We had Tatiana Ali and Jan Ravnik. They danced to
- 1:16Speaker 2: Knock on Wood. Of course, Tatiana is like family kind
- 1:19Speaker 2: of already because she was Alfonso's sister on Fresh Prince
- 1:25Speaker 2: years and years and years ago.
- 1:27Speaker 1: I loved that show.
- 1:29Speaker 2: I mean, right? That's another song that I could sing
- 1:32Speaker 2: from top to bottom because I know every word. I
- 1:36Speaker 2: will say, yes, it got off with a bang, but
- 1:40Speaker 2: I feel like the bang was.
- 1:42Speaker 1: Not quite like a big bang, right? It was just
- 1:45Speaker 1: like when you, the toy gun, when you shoot it
- 1:48Speaker 1: and the little flag comes out and it's like bang.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah. Unfortunately, like you could tell, could you tell as
- 1:57Speaker 2: a non-dancer that she messed up?
- 1:59Speaker 1: Okay. So I hope I don't embarrass myself here. I,
- 2:03Speaker 1: I loved it. I thought she was good. But I could,
- 2:05Speaker 1: as a non-dancer, I could see, especially in comparison to
- 2:09Speaker 1: some of the others who are really, really great. I'm like, oh, okay.
- 2:13Speaker 1: She's not that. You know what I mean?
- 2:15Speaker 2: But I don't know.
- 2:16Speaker 1: I didn't see the stumbles until they later did the replay.
- 2:21Speaker 1: But I don't know what I'm looking for.
- 2:24Speaker 2: Well, that's what I mean. That's why I asked you.
- 2:26Speaker 2: Because as a dancer, I could tell. That's not always
- 2:30Speaker 2: the case because it depends on the person, but you
- 2:33Speaker 2: could see it in her face. You know, like when
- 2:35Speaker 2: she messed up, she was trying to catch up. It's
- 2:38Speaker 2: like they were trying to talk through ESP, trying to
- 2:41Speaker 2: get back on track with wherever they fell short or
- 2:45Speaker 2: wherever she lost. And it's so freaking hard, you guys.
- 2:49Speaker 2: You are like, I saw an interview with Mara Higgins
- 2:52Speaker 2: about last night. And she was talking about how she's
- 2:56Speaker 2: totally fine with cameras, right? Most of these people are
- 2:59Speaker 2: fine with cameras in their faces. But when it comes
- 3:03Speaker 2: to this show, the difference is a live audience with
- 3:09Speaker 2: all of these eyeballs digging into you. And the cameras
- 3:14Speaker 2: don't even freaking matter. It's all the people just staring
- 3:19Speaker 2: and judging. At least that's how I felt, you know, like,
- 3:22Speaker 2: and I'm sure the first night and we had a
- 3:25Speaker 2: couple of these stumble moments from multiple people last night.
- 3:29Speaker 2: And Tatiana, unfortunately, was one of them. She ended up
- 3:32Speaker 2: getting all fours. which was almost the lowest from the guys,
- 3:39Speaker 2: from the comparing to the guys night. So I felt
- 3:42Speaker 2: so bad for her and also so bad that, you know,
- 3:46Speaker 2: we were talking about music choices. She chose Knock on
- 3:50Speaker 2: Wood because she said she was sitting on the trampoline,
- 3:52Speaker 2: like hanging out at the trampoline with her kids. And
- 3:54Speaker 2: that just seemed like the most fun song. It wasn't
- 3:56Speaker 2: very fitting on it. It wasn't very fitting and it's
- 4:00Speaker 2: a jive and that's a really hard dance to start with. So,
- 4:05Speaker 2: you know, had she known or had she had the
- 4:08Speaker 2: ability to talk to one of the pros and say,
- 4:11Speaker 2: which song should I choose? Like maybe she would have
- 4:13Speaker 2: taken their advice, but they just didn't have that luxury.
- 4:16Speaker 2: So the next to perform was Amber and Pasha. And
- 4:22Speaker 2: she is the figure skater who I didn't, I didn't know,
- 4:26Speaker 2: you know, for the Olympic athletes, it's harder for me
- 4:29Speaker 2: to pinpoint them unless they're like, I don't know who's
- 4:34Speaker 2: Tara and, oh my gosh, what's his name from Traders?
- 4:37Speaker 2: Freaking love both of them. Johnny.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yes.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 4:40Speaker 1: Yeah. But he's a big, like, over-the-top personality.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Personality.
- 4:45Speaker 1: You know, like Nancy Kerrigan. Like, everybody knows that because
- 4:48Speaker 1: of everything that happened. You know what I mean? Those
- 4:50Speaker 1: major names. Yes.
- 4:53Speaker 2: So, Amber and Pasha. And I mentioned on the first
- 4:57Speaker 2: episode with the guys that this guy Bobby Bones, you know,
- 5:01Speaker 2: predicts the winners. And I think she was also one
- 5:04Speaker 2: of the ones that he predicted. Now, I think that
- 5:08Speaker 2: a hard thing about figure skaters is their feet are
- 5:12Speaker 2: in skates. So they are used to not having to
- 5:16Speaker 2: do anything with their feet. As a dancer, you want
- 5:21Speaker 2: pointed toes, you want, you know, the line that continues
- 5:25Speaker 2: from your leg onto your toes. And I think that
- 5:29Speaker 2: As a like, if I was in the mindset of
- 5:31Speaker 2: the judges, that's what I would be looking for. And
- 5:33Speaker 2: I was looking at that last night. And they'll they're
- 5:36Speaker 2: going to get down to that nitty gritty later. I
- 5:38Speaker 2: thought she did an amazing job. She is a great dancer.
- 5:42Speaker 2: But also I felt like. She should land somewhere. And
- 5:46Speaker 2: she ended up landing in this place. But she should
- 5:49Speaker 2: land high, but maybe not the highest. What did you think?
- 5:52Speaker 1: Well, I also like, listen, I'm not here to critique
- 5:55Speaker 1: dancing because that's outside of my skill set. But I
- 5:58Speaker 1: did feel like she danced like she had skates on.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Like when she did her little flip at the end,
- 6:04Speaker 1: I was like, oh, she could have absolutely been on ice.
- 6:06Speaker 2: Totally.
- 6:07Speaker 1: And that's coming from someone who knows absolutely nothing. You
- 6:11Speaker 1: know what I mean? I thought she did great. I
- 6:13Speaker 1: thought she has a really wonderful personality. I thought her
- 6:17Speaker 1: personality really showed at the end when they were giving
- 6:19Speaker 1: her her critiques. And when she did her interview, she
- 6:21Speaker 1: has a great personality. I think the chemistry between the
- 6:25Speaker 1: two of them is pretty good. So I look forward
- 6:28Speaker 1: to seeing more from her, from the two of them
- 6:33Speaker 1: as the season goes on. I think that she has
- 6:35Speaker 1: great potential to do really well.
- 6:39Speaker 2: Yeah, I agree. So she got an 18 and Tatiana
- 6:42Speaker 2: got a 12. So moving on, Ciara.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Ciara?
- 6:46Speaker 2: Is it Ciara?
- 6:47Speaker 1: I think it's Ciara. Ciara, thank you. So I didn't
- 6:50Speaker 1: watch the show that she was on, but I do
- 6:52Speaker 1: remember seeing some of that drama play out on social media,
- 6:56Speaker 1: just like with the stuff that she had gone through
- 6:59Speaker 1: on her various shows. And so I actually... As a viewer,
- 7:04Speaker 1: Trista loved that they allowed her to talk about that
- 7:08Speaker 1: and get emotional about that. It immediately created a connection
- 7:13Speaker 1: for me as a viewer. I immediately want her to
- 7:19Speaker 1: do well. I want her to succeed and to come
- 7:21Speaker 1: out on top and look how far I've come. That
- 7:26Speaker 1: was it for me.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Yeah. I love that.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I think that is very purposeful.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:32Speaker 1: And I think she did really great. I thought her
- 7:34Speaker 1: dance was really beautiful. The critiques from the judges, I
- 7:37Speaker 1: thought they were all really fair. I was surprised. Yeah,
- 7:42Speaker 1: she did.
- 7:43Speaker 2: She was another one that kind of lost her train
- 7:46Speaker 2: of thought and lost her way in the routine. I
- 7:50Speaker 2: have to say, like, yes, I love the connection. I
- 7:54Speaker 2: love hearing people's personal stories. I love it when they're vulnerable.
- 7:58Speaker 2: All of those things, for sure. I am right there
- 8:00Speaker 2: with you. I just don't know that she's going to
- 8:05Speaker 2: last that long.
- 8:07Speaker 1: That would be, it was my first thought was, will
- 8:09Speaker 1: people vote for her? I think that she stands a
- 8:13Speaker 1: good chance and we will see significant improvement from her
- 8:17Speaker 1: as like a contestant on the show. But I'm not
- 8:19Speaker 1: sure that she'll have the backing that some of these
- 8:21Speaker 1: other larger names will have. Like, that's why I was
- 8:24Speaker 1: asking you on our last podcast about the voting and
- 8:28Speaker 1: the scores and how they actually stay. Because it almost
- 8:31Speaker 1: feels like, I don't know, a disservice if you're not,
- 8:35Speaker 1: you know, Jenna Dewan. Right?
- 8:37Speaker 2: Totally.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Are you going to.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Everyone knows her. She's been around from Step Up. Was
- 8:42Speaker 1: that the... You know what I mean?
- 8:43Speaker 2: Yeah, that's it. Uh-huh.
- 8:45Speaker 1: And she's really good. And she's really good.
- 8:47Speaker 2: You know how I said yesterday how... I voted, I
- 8:50Speaker 2: didn't get into it, ended up not getting into it,
- 8:53Speaker 2: but I voted for someone who I didn't think needed
- 8:55Speaker 2: the votes because I want them to stay around. I
- 8:58Speaker 2: think that you're dead on that she's not necessarily going
- 9:02Speaker 2: to get those votes because people are going to vote
- 9:04Speaker 2: for the people who have an amazing performance or a
- 9:08Speaker 2: performance that really made them feel something. And at least
- 9:13Speaker 2: I assume, unless they're just huge fans, you know, and
- 9:17Speaker 2: I just don't know that that I feel like she's
- 9:20Speaker 2: going to not get all of those votes just because
- 9:23Speaker 2: of the dance.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, she still did fine. I mean, she got
- 9:27Speaker 1: a score of a 15 out of 30. So I
- 9:31Speaker 1: thought it was, I thought it was really, really great.
- 9:33Speaker 1: I thought she did really great. I love the little
- 9:35Speaker 1: bits of her emotional pieces. You know what I mean?
- 9:37Speaker 1: Like circling back to that. Um, yeah, I thought she
- 9:40Speaker 1: pulled at heartstrings and for me, that's solid television.
- 9:44Speaker 2: Totally.
- 9:44Speaker 1: I want to move on to one of my most
- 9:46Speaker 1: favorite people in the entire world. Trista, you know that.
- 9:49Speaker 2: I love to cook.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I love to cook. When I go for work, the
- 9:55Speaker 1: first thing that I do is put on the Food
- 9:56Speaker 1: Network and I watch cooking channels. My favorite show is Chopped. Like,
- 10:00Speaker 1: I could give my left arm to be on Chopped
- 10:02Speaker 1: or meet Bobby Flay, I would spend the night at
- 10:04Speaker 1: his house. So I was super excited about Giada De...
- 10:10Speaker 1: I might butcher her name. Giada De Laurentiis and Alan Bernstein.
- 10:16Speaker 2: Uh-huh. Okay.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I was so excited. I was so excited. And when
- 10:19Speaker 1: they're doing their dance and she does a little stirring
- 10:22Speaker 1: in the bowl thing, I'm like, oh, I should be
- 10:23Speaker 1: making pasta. I mean. But that's just because I love her.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I would not say... She scored really well, Trista. She
- 10:34Speaker 1: got a 16 out of 30. For me, the dance
- 10:37Speaker 1: was a little flat. But again, I love her. She's
- 10:40Speaker 1: someone that I would just vote for because I have
- 10:43Speaker 1: watched her on the Cooking Channel my entire life. I
- 10:47Speaker 1: literally would make some of her recipes. So she's someone
- 10:49Speaker 1: I would vote for just for the simple fact. But
- 10:53Speaker 1: I thought the scoring was pretty generous. What do you think?
- 10:56Speaker 1: I thought it was.
- 10:57Speaker 2: extremely generous. I didn't think that she should have gotten
- 11:02Speaker 2: as high a score. I will say, as a 53-year-old,
- 11:06Speaker 2: I think she's 56, just putting yourself out there, because
- 11:12Speaker 2: she just had dropped her daughter at school, at college.
- 11:16Speaker 2: I am in the same space as her, and I
- 11:20Speaker 2: feel that. And I've been asked... if I would ever
- 11:23Speaker 2: go back on the show before, if they gave me
- 11:25Speaker 2: the opportunity to go back on the show on Dancing
- 11:28Speaker 2: with the Stars. And gosh, I feel like I would,
- 11:33Speaker 2: I was already, when I did the show, I had
- 11:36Speaker 2: really bad back issues. I had bad herniated discs. I
- 11:40Speaker 2: ended up getting a lumbar fusion years later. But I
- 11:45Speaker 2: feel like when you're in your 50s, 60s, I know
- 11:48Speaker 2: we've had older on the show before, It's just hard
- 11:52Speaker 2: to stay healthy in terms of your physical fitness. So
- 11:57Speaker 2: I give it up to her for going on the
- 12:00Speaker 2: show and powering through when it seemed like she was
- 12:03Speaker 2: in pain a lot of the time. Yeah.
- 12:06Speaker 1: She's another one, though, that pulled on my heartstrings because
- 12:08Speaker 1: she did touch on the fact of her age and
- 12:11Speaker 1: doing this. And she was so proud to show her
- 12:13Speaker 1: daughter what can be done. So she's another one that
- 12:15Speaker 1: I was like, oh, my God. She's the best thing ever.
- 12:19Speaker 1: I will absolutely vote for her and keep her on
- 12:20Speaker 1: the show because like, look at what she's doing. Let's
- 12:23Speaker 1: go women. Like, let's go. Yeah.
- 12:25Speaker 2: Yes. Agreed. Okay, next up was Julia and Ezra.
- 12:40Speaker 1: I love it.
- 12:41Speaker 2: I loved this performance. So, Julia is a movie star, right?
- 12:46Speaker 2: She's a movie star. So many of us have watched
- 12:50Speaker 2: her movies. And the fact that she had Dolly Parton's song,
- 12:55Speaker 2: 9 to 5, one of my all-time favorite songs. And everyone, obviously,
- 13:00Speaker 2: is just grieving the loss of the icon that is
- 13:05Speaker 2: Dolly Parton. So... the fact that she had Dolly's song. And,
- 13:10Speaker 2: you know, what's interesting about this show is it's about dance,
- 13:14Speaker 2: but I don't think it's all about dance. It's also
- 13:18Speaker 2: performing and actually acting. You have to act so much
- 13:22Speaker 2: in these numbers. I remember being on the show and
- 13:26Speaker 2: Louis was talking about the rumba and how it was
- 13:29Speaker 2: like this sexual connection. And I'm like, I've been married
- 13:32Speaker 2: for two years and you're not my husband anymore.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I wouldn't actually consider him sexy either.
- 13:39Speaker 2: But listen, I'm not the actress in the room.
- 13:43Speaker 1: I struggled with that when I was on The Bachelorette.
- 13:45Speaker 1: They were like, oh, look at this guy. And I'm like,
- 13:47Speaker 1: he's not the one. He's not the one. I can't
- 13:49Speaker 1: fake it.
- 13:49Speaker 2: He's not the one. So I feel like because she's
- 13:52Speaker 2: a movie star, she's going to have a leg up
- 13:57Speaker 2: in this competition because she can act on the floor.
- 14:01Speaker 2: And I felt like Ezra did a great job of incorporating...
- 14:05Speaker 2: little moments where she could kind of put on her
- 14:08Speaker 2: acting face and act for the rest of us. So
- 14:12Speaker 2: I thought it was an amazing, amazing performance.
- 14:15Speaker 1: I thought it was great. I mean, well, she scored
- 14:17Speaker 1: an 18 out of 30, and I'm here for it.
- 14:20Speaker 1: She even talks about that first movie. Everyone thinks she
- 14:23Speaker 1: can dance because she trained for that first movie. Be yourself, girl.
- 14:27Speaker 1: You did great in that first movie. I remember that
- 14:29Speaker 1: from my childhood. I remember. That's how I know her,
- 14:33Speaker 1: and I love her. So Oh, we're here for it, Julia. Yes,
- 14:37Speaker 1: and I love their partnership. I know, I know. Their
- 14:39Speaker 1: partnership is amazing. They're so great.
- 14:41Speaker 2: But in terms of partnerships, Mara and Mark, like the
- 14:47Speaker 2: fact that they have done a show together before, oh
- 14:51Speaker 2: my gosh, is just magic. Even if they weren't on
- 14:55Speaker 2: the same page on Traders, they are magic. And I
- 14:58Speaker 2: think the reason... That she did so well. She has
- 15:02Speaker 2: admitted that she has never danced a day in her life, right? Besides,
- 15:06Speaker 2: I'm sure, like, you know, just kind of moving on.
- 15:08Speaker 2: I think she pretty good.
- 15:09Speaker 1: I think she pretty good. I love that she says that.
- 15:12Speaker 2: I love it.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I think she will go far.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I love her and I love this partnership. I think
- 15:19Speaker 2: because she can trust me. completely in Mark after all
- 15:23Speaker 2: of they've been through after all they've been through. And
- 15:26Speaker 2: the fact that he really is truly a legend in
- 15:30Speaker 2: ballroom dancing and has a legendary family in ballroom dancing.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Like she feels completely willing to just give it all
- 15:39Speaker 2: to him and it showed. And, and also his choreography
- 15:44Speaker 2: was genius. Like she was able to shine on that
- 15:48Speaker 2: floor and, And the judges saw it. And I think
- 15:51Speaker 2: the rest of us saw it. She got a 21
- 15:53Speaker 2: out of 30. She was the highest scorer of the night.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Outstanding. She was my surprise, Trista. She was my surprise.
- 15:59Speaker 1: I did not anticipate her to do that well. I
- 16:03Speaker 1: think she's right. The chemistry between the two of them,
- 16:06Speaker 1: I'm here for it. I love it. She's beautiful. All
- 16:08Speaker 1: of the things. She was my surprise of the night. Totally.
- 16:12Speaker 2: And honestly, the biggest surprise for me was Because she
- 16:16Speaker 2: was talking so much about how she had never danced before. Like,
- 16:20Speaker 2: she did not have any ability. But that just goes
- 16:24Speaker 2: to show that it really is a significant thing as
- 16:28Speaker 2: to who your pro is. And if they can make
- 16:31Speaker 2: you dance. If they can bring it out of you.
- 16:33Speaker 2: And Mark Ballas did that.
- 16:35Speaker 1: Just that. He's a gift to us all. He really is.
- 16:40Speaker 2: Okay, so... The next dancer was Sarah Jane and Haley Bills.
- 16:45Speaker 2: And I know we were both very much looking forward
- 16:49Speaker 2: to seeing this dance. And unfortunately, she just was another
- 16:54Speaker 2: that really fell flat. She messed up a bunch. She
- 16:57Speaker 2: lost her way. She wasn't hitting the music. They were
- 17:02Speaker 2: out of sync a lot of the time. And I
- 17:05Speaker 2: will say, though, they looked really hot. They looked so hot.
- 17:08Speaker 2: They looked super hot. I mean, they are both beautiful.
- 17:10Speaker 2: They're both beautiful.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Gorgeous.
- 17:13Speaker 2: Gorgeous.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Sarah Jane Nader is like stunning, stunning perfection, like their
- 17:18Speaker 1: whole thing. But yeah, I'm with you. But I wouldn't
- 17:21Speaker 1: say that I had high hopes for her anyway. You
- 17:24Speaker 1: know what I mean? But God, they're hot. They're so hot.
- 17:27Speaker 1: So hot.
- 17:28Speaker 2: So hot. So they ended up being, I believe, they
- 17:32Speaker 2: had a 14 out of 30. So they were like
- 17:34Speaker 2: second from the bottom, I believe.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Oh, second.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Right. Tatiana was the first. Yeah.
- 17:39Speaker 1: So next comes our favorite girl. I don't know if
- 17:41Speaker 1: I should call her our favorite. You know what I mean?
- 17:43Speaker 1: But I had this in my head after our last
- 17:46Speaker 1: podcast episode, you guys telling me that they bundle it up.
- 17:49Speaker 1: They do the sandwich method, right? So the last one
- 17:51Speaker 1: was going to be really good. And I expected Jenna
- 17:54Speaker 1: Dewan and Val to do really well because, listen, dance
- 17:58Speaker 1: is a part of her life. And he, just like Mark,
- 18:01Speaker 1: is like, I haven't watched the show, but I do
- 18:06Speaker 1: know some of these pros. from social media or seeing
- 18:09Speaker 1: other clips on the news or just knowing them from
- 18:11Speaker 1: Dancing with the Stars. And like, they're on another level, right?
- 18:15Speaker 1: Val is on another level. But then you pair him
- 18:17Speaker 1: with someone like Jenna, who has a dance background. I
- 18:21Speaker 1: expected greatness, Trista.
- 18:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:25Speaker 1: And they delivered. They delivered. I was going to say,
- 18:28Speaker 1: did they deliver for you? Someone who knows nothing about dance.
- 18:32Speaker 1: I mean, I have rhythm and I can keep a beat,
- 18:34Speaker 1: but like, they... To me, they were the standout of
- 18:38Speaker 1: the night. Totally.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I mean, besides Mara. Mara did an amazing job. She did.
- 18:45Speaker 2: And I feel like Jenna... Please. Like, she is pro-level
- 18:51Speaker 2: because she is a professional dancer. I don't care that
- 18:54Speaker 2: she hasn't danced ballroom. She was perfection last night. And
- 19:00Speaker 2: I feel like the fact that they gave her a
- 19:03Speaker 2: lower score than Mara, I mean, it's fine. I think
- 19:07Speaker 2: they are honestly thinking... We're going to be giving Jenna
- 19:11Speaker 2: perfect scores.
- 19:12Speaker 1: Plenty of perfect scores. A lot of this season. It
- 19:14Speaker 1: is in her future, Trista. Like, I do not think
- 19:17Speaker 1: that she is at any point going to be like, oh, well,
- 19:19Speaker 1: little lady. Now, I hope because of her dance background
- 19:24Speaker 1: and her history, I do hope that they are a
- 19:26Speaker 1: little tough on her because I don't want to just
- 19:27Speaker 1: see a gimme. Like, if I'm really going to invest
- 19:30Speaker 1: in this season and I'm going to watch it with you,
- 19:32Speaker 1: I don't want to see a gimme because she is good, right?
- 19:35Speaker 1: She is good. She is not learning from scratch. So
- 19:38Speaker 1: I do hope that they... are just a little bit
- 19:41Speaker 1: tough on her because she's almost dancing at another level.
- 19:45Speaker 2: So I hear that, but I also really truly... believe
- 19:51Speaker 2: that in what Julianne, I said it on the last episode,
- 19:56Speaker 2: Julianne was asked like what her thoughts are on professional
- 20:01Speaker 2: dancers like Jenna and Harry being on the show. And
- 20:05Speaker 2: the name of the show is Dancing with the Stars,
- 20:09Speaker 2: not Dancing with the Non-Dancers. And so I'm like, why
- 20:13Speaker 2: is it being held against her that she was a
- 20:15Speaker 2: professional dancer?
- 20:17Speaker 1: She is a beautiful dancer.
- 20:19Speaker 2: So why not give her the scores that are comparable?
- 20:24Speaker 2: You need to compare them on the same level.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 20:27Speaker 2: I do.
- 20:27Speaker 1: And I think you're right.
- 20:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I think it's true.
- 20:30Speaker 2: She has like a leg up in this converse competition,
- 20:34Speaker 2: but she also, it's.
- 20:36Speaker 1: Not her fault.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Like she was asked to do the show and she's
- 20:39Speaker 2: on the show and she's performing and she should get really,
- 20:42Speaker 2: really high scores. She should have probably gotten, if this
- 20:46Speaker 2: was later in the season, she would have either gotten
- 20:49Speaker 2: a perfect score or like one point off of a
- 20:52Speaker 2: perfect score. Like that was a beautiful dance, beautiful dance.
- 20:56Speaker 2: And I know, You know, there are things that she
- 20:58Speaker 2: can clean up, but she was performing. Their chemistry was amazing.
- 21:03Speaker 2: The choreography was amazing. It was a really hard routine.
- 21:08Speaker 2: So not only is she coming in with this dance experience,
- 21:11Speaker 2: but she's being asked to do a higher level routine
- 21:15Speaker 2: and still getting judged the same. So I don't think
- 21:17Speaker 2: that's fair. I think if you're given a higher level challenge,
- 21:22Speaker 2: then you should be judged accordingly.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Can I say something that might ruffle some feathers? Okay.
- 21:42Speaker 2: Of course.
- 21:44Speaker 1: I think Mara did a fantastic job. I think Jenna
- 21:49Speaker 1: did a better job. Exactly. And the scores did not
- 21:53Speaker 1: reflect that. That's what I mean.
- 21:56Speaker 2: I feel like Mara did amazing. When that routine finished,
- 22:02Speaker 2: I was like, wow, that was just incredible. She did
- 22:08Speaker 2: so well. Jenna, yes, the expectation was that she was
- 22:14Speaker 2: going to do Amazing. Like the best of the night.
- 22:17Speaker 2: And I thought she did. And she I didn't think
- 22:20Speaker 2: that the scores reflected that. Yeah. Now, what I what
- 22:24Speaker 2: I said before is that the judges know that she's
- 22:27Speaker 2: going to be getting perfect scores later on. She's going
- 22:31Speaker 2: to be like it's it's if she stays in the
- 22:34Speaker 2: show and the people vote for her, then she's going
- 22:36Speaker 2: to get perfect scores. That's not even a question. But
- 22:40Speaker 2: I feel like they should have judged her more accordingly.
- 22:43Speaker 1: It's OK.
- 22:44Speaker 2: She didn't go home. The person that unfortunately didn't go home.
- 22:47Speaker 1: She was never going home. She was never going home.
- 22:50Speaker 2: Heck no. Heck no. Sarah Jane ended up being voted
- 22:56Speaker 2: out last night.
- 22:57Speaker 1: I know that feeling.
- 22:58Speaker 2: It sucks being the first one to leave because you're like, wait,
- 23:02Speaker 2: we already started rehearsing the second dance and I really
- 23:06Speaker 2: want to do that and I want to do more
- 23:08Speaker 2: and I.
- 23:08Speaker 1: Want to get to know all these people. No one
- 23:09Speaker 1: wants to be a night one-er. No one wants to
- 23:11Speaker 1: be a night one-er. No, it sucks.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah. So I feel bad for her. I know that
- 23:16Speaker 2: she wanted to stay. I do. I do love that
- 23:19Speaker 2: they did a same sex partnership. I love that they
- 23:22Speaker 2: gave Haley the opportunity to be a pro this season.
- 23:25Speaker 2: They were so hot and they were good television for
- 23:29Speaker 2: this first episode. And and unfortunately, I'm sure we'll see
- 23:33Speaker 2: her in the ballroom, like cheering them on in the
- 23:36Speaker 2: rest of the season. But yeah. I wasn't shocked. It
- 23:38Speaker 2: was a great show.
- 23:39Speaker 1: I wasn't shocked. So you know what I mean. Listen,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I know that I am new to Dancing with the Stars,
- 23:47Speaker 1: but people like you, Trista, have been watching it from
- 23:50Speaker 1: the very get-go. And I am really curious what the
- 23:54Speaker 1: listeners think. I love this because you have such a
- 23:59Speaker 1: good opinion on what it is to be a dancer,
- 24:01Speaker 1: and you have experience on the show, and then you've got...
- 24:04Speaker 1: Then you got me. You know, I'm just the common,
- 24:07Speaker 1: the common folk. You are still worthy.
- 24:09Speaker 2: You are still worthy.
- 24:10Speaker 1: I know, but I'm just like, I'm literally watching this
- 24:12Speaker 1: show as a, like a general viewer, which I think
- 24:15Speaker 1: is kind of fun, but I'm really curious what the
- 24:18Speaker 1: listeners think, what their opinion is with me, with you,
- 24:22Speaker 1: with the show, what, what are, you know, our critiques
- 24:26Speaker 1: of the dancers. So anyway, I'm hoping that our listeners
- 24:30Speaker 1: will call in. They'll give us their thoughts. Eight, four, four, five, almost.
- 24:35Speaker 1: And share, give us some opinions. Talk with us.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I love it.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Please.
- 24:40Speaker 2: We would love to hear from you. We would love
- 24:42Speaker 2: to get your comments on the socials that will be posted.
- 24:46Speaker 2: And obviously, we'd love for you to continue listening. Thanks
- 24:49Speaker 2: for tuning in today. It's been Trista and.
- 24:54Speaker 1: Deanna. I was like, she probably didn't get that. I
- 24:58Speaker 1: thought you were going to say my name. I thought
- 24:59Speaker 1: you were going to.
- 25:00Speaker 2: I know. I know. I was like, maybe I'll say it,
- 25:02Speaker 2: but no, I shouldn't.
- 25:03Speaker 1: It's her name.
- 25:04Speaker 2: She should say it.
