Transcript
- 0:02Two very quick things, and then we'll we'll come to the vibe.
- 0:06There is obviously a theme in movies.
- 0:08We were not wrong of hoods flying open on cars.
- 0:10Yes.
- 0:11Also want to thank Mike.
- 0:12Blues Brothers had the scene too.
- 0:14I've never seen that movie either.
- 0:16That's one of those ones that's I mean, I think it came out in like 1980s, so you know it's I wasn't even born yet.
- 0:22That movie was absolutely an era-based.
- 0:25If you were of an age, you the you still quote the Blues Brothers.
- 0:29It's a classic, and I still haven't seen it.
- 0:31But I also found out the other day that my parents have because I've never seen The Godfather, right?
- 0:37Yeah, oh I I can also understand that.
- 0:39But also a classic.
- 0:41Yeah.
- 0:41But my parents told me the other day, neither have them have seen The Godfather either.
- 0:45I could see that though, because your parents are a little more um oh uh of the conservative religion line.
- 0:53Yeah, but they're not.
- 0:54But they're not?
- 0:55My parents are not conservative.
- 0:57Religion.
- 0:58The uh they okay, so they yes.
- 1:00In the religious realm.
- 1:03No, just like they're not uh they're not very they're not very stringent on how do I say this?
- 1:10Well, I could see that being a movie that just wouldn't grab.
- 1:13Jigzus wouldn't approve of.
- 1:15I get to see, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:16Like, I can see that being one, okay, maybe Maybe that goes a little too far.
- 1:20Scarface might have been one of those ones that also they might have missed.
- 1:23I'll have to ask them if they've ever seen Scarface.
- 1:26The other thing I was gonna tell you, too.
- 1:27I have really good news for everybody that's been emailing and texting and everybody else.
- 1:31Uh, Chief Engineer Aaron yesterday called me.
- 1:33I don't know, it must have been about three.
- 1:35Uh new guy, by the way, who comes on the scene with unfortunately a dumpster fire of a situation where something fails on our transmitter.
- 1:43Poor guy.
- 1:43Yeah, I mean, they had to do what they had to do.
- 1:45They had to get the parts, and you know, sometimes it's like the check, it's in the mail, you don't know when.
- 1:49Anyway, the great news was he called me yesterday.
- 1:52We are back to 100% power.
- 1:54So if you had static, if you had things happening that you're like, I I can't hear you guys.
- 1:59If it, like I said, if you listen on Wink, we're on jams and magic too.
- 2:02But yeah, because even Snoopy D, our Uber driver, said, Good morning, my friends.
- 2:06Good thing I have the app because they come from Tawanda every day.
- 2:10Ah, we're back.
- 2:11Yep, and has been having trouble with that.
- 2:13But anyway.
- 2:14Anyway, so Tanya sent this text message in saying, I need to know what the vibe of the radio station was 20 years ago because I'm 20.
- 2:22And it's crazy you guys have been doing this the entire time I've been alive.
- 2:26I do you want to go first?
- 2:28Do you want me to go first?
- 2:29Um, I I guess I could go first.
- 2:32I I don't know that there was a huge different vibe.
- 2:35I I mean, uh to me, it I don't know.
- 2:38This is a hard one for me to say because I can answer it.
- 2:40Okay, you go and I'll see if I can see if it sparks something for you.
- 2:43The chemistry was there from day one.
- 2:46Oh, that that's very true.
- 2:47It was always something.
- 2:48As soon as I walked in the room, we just we it we took off running and we got along really well from the interview.
- 2:58And that was the day that we had Chef William here and Dick Buchanan and Brad from Hazlitz, and it was just sort of a wild time, like right away.
- 3:06So much fun, so much fun.
- 3:08And then Scott said, can you be here in eight days?
- 3:10And I arrived eight days later.
- 3:12Yeah.
- 3:12So, as far as that vibe, I think that I was so nervous.
- 3:17I remember being so nervous, and our studio looked different than how it looks now.
- 3:22I think we still were like definitely vibing, but it was different than the interview because I was like, oh my gosh, I'm actually really doing this now.
- 3:31Yeah.
- 3:32And at the time, Scott was a little bit more of a parental role because I was a shocker.
- 3:38Right?
- 3:39Because I was 23.
- 3:40This was like my first full-time job out of college, and you really don't know how to do it until you do it.
- 3:46Like I had done producing, so I was never the I was never the main mic when I did my previous jobs.
- 3:52So I it was it just felt different, you know?
- 3:56So that's what I think about it.
- 3:57Was it was more of a parental figure.
- 4:00Well, I was a little more seasoned in my life.
- 4:02I had a few more years of radio under my belt at that point.
- 4:05I was staring down my first divorce.
- 4:06Well, my only divorce, I never got married again.
- 4:09Staring down your first divorce.
- 4:10It wasn't happening that soon after I got here.
- 4:12I know, I'm kidding.
- 4:13In 2006, you guys weren't getting a divorce yet.
- 4:16I mean, her behavior really is screamed divorce.
- 4:19But I wish I wish I could say.
- 4:23Can I tell the thing about her always calling the hotline?
- 4:25Oh my god.
- 4:26Why did I ask you to get it?
- 4:27Am I allowed to say this or not?
- 4:28I don't care.
- 4:29It's okay.
- 4:30So she I think I've been divorced longer than I've been married now.
- 4:32She would, we have this thing called the hotline where you can get directly into the studio.
- 4:37And she would call all the time, like yelling at Scott for things that I'm like, here I am.
- 4:42I'm a I'm a baby, I'm a baby here.
- 4:44And I'm like, what is going on?
- 4:46So finally I call your old co-host and I was like, Did you have this problem too?
- 4:51Where his wife would call and be like, So finally, I had to put I feel like this is where I first put my foot down on something.
- 4:59And I said, She cannot call here anymore.
- 5:01I do because it was.
- 5:02Tell me about it.
- 5:03I wish she could have forgotten the number.
- 5:04Because it was ruining the vibe of the show.
- 5:07Sure.
- 5:07But other than that, well, she had two things going on.
- 5:10She had Lucille Ballitis, where she thought she was always gonna be part of the show.
- 5:14Remember, remember the old I Love Lucy?
- 5:15Yes.
- 5:17And the other part of it is in all seriousness, and I swear to God, I am not being in any way derogatory, and I wouldn't do that to somebody.
- 5:25I'm pretty sure there was a diagnosed degree of bipolarism.
- 5:28Oh, I could see that for sure.
- 5:30Oh, okay.
- 5:30Also, I love 3386.
- 5:32Now the student has become the master.
- 5:34Oh let's not go that far, but all right.
