- 0:54Ministries. Tonight we are going to go
- 0:58through Hebrews 11 starting in verse that told you guys 31.
- 1:03It would be actually 32, but we'll start at 31 since that's
- 1:05what I said. And maybe maybe we can make it
- 1:10through the end of the chapter tonight.
- 1:11Possibly. We'll see how that turns.
- 1:14So, but anyway, I would ask Aaron to lead us in a word of
- 1:20prayer before we get started. Our most holy and righteous
- 1:24Father, we are thankful again for your word and just are
- 1:28grateful that you are able to preserve it for us all this time
- 1:32and all these years and just ask for guidance as we study it.
- 1:36Pray that you'd give all those that hear it open ears to hear
- 1:40and that they would be willing and prepared to their hearts
- 1:45prepared to hear the truth. Just pray the God that you'd
- 1:48help us to say something might encourage them to place their
- 1:52trust in you or to grow their faith that they already have in
- 1:55you just asked. You'd be with us as we speak
- 1:59what we speak that you would help us to only speak those
- 2:02things that that you would find pleasing and that you would
- 2:07guide us in help us to to hold her mouth and we when we are not
- 2:12being LED of your spirit. Just pray that you'd watch over
- 2:15all those that need our prayers so desperately at this time,
- 2:20especially for our country. All these things we ask from
- 2:23Christ, precious name, Amen. Amen.
- 2:27All right, so a couple of things before we get started here.
- 2:34Some of you might know Andrew, he would won't be on tonight.
- 2:38They had a terrible accident with a friend of theirs, his
- 2:41son, who died in that accident at Andrew Sawbill last week.
- 2:49So just keep Andrew, that community there in Ohio in your
- 2:53prayers. And also Melvin's off tonight.
- 2:56He is sick. So pray for Melvin too if you
- 3:00would like. So I just keep keep those as
- 3:02your prayers. That D1 Ohio was very tragic.
- 3:06So I know that God is gracious and He is a giver of love and
- 3:12peace and joy even in the darkest times, and I am not
- 3:16afraid for them, but my heart goes out to them.
- 3:20Yeah. As anyone, anyone would.
- 3:23What a terrible, terrible catastrophe there.
- 3:25So anyway, so back to Hebrews 11.
- 3:30Here we are going through the faith chapter and it has been
- 3:35exciting for me to learn of some of these characters and how that
- 3:41faith was accounted to them. I found that interesting.
- 3:47One of the concepts that was. Brought out really neatly.
- 3:49That just sticks in my mind is how that every example of faith
- 3:55had a time period in it before it was counted for their
- 3:59righteousness or counted as as faith.
- 4:02And there was a time in there. Some of the characters had a
- 4:06time from the time they were asked to do something till the
- 4:09time that that it got fulfilled, maybe 7 days in the case of
- 4:14Joshua, Moses, they might have been, you know, or yeah, Moses,
- 4:18it was what, 40 years? Some it was 120 years of time
- 4:23that from the time God spoke something and they believed in
- 4:26it and, and acted on it till it actually got fulfilled.
- 4:30And I find it interesting. That's, that's just a good
- 4:32concept for each of us to keep in our minds.
- 4:36I think as, as we, as we trust a promise of God to not give up.
- 4:44Just because we don't see it today does not mean God is a
- 4:47liar. It just means that the time
- 4:50hasn't come to fulfill it yet. And so I mean it's that's been
- 4:54that's been encouraging in my walk just going through these
- 4:58last few. So anyway, all that to say, I'll
- 5:01read verse 31 and we'll just we'll just bounce off of there
- 5:05to kind of get a a running start here.
- 5:07And this is the the last kind of by faith the harlot Rahab perish
- 5:12not with them that believe not when she had received the spies
- 5:16with peace. And there it seems like to me
- 5:20that she really believed a report that she.
- 5:25Heard. That caused her to do something
- 5:28because she believed that God actually was going to do what he
- 5:30said he would and she believed that and she was called into the
- 5:34she was written about in the faith chapter.
- 5:37I find that really interesting. Dad, go ahead with your thoughts
- 5:40on the the harlot. Rahab, be an idiot.
- 5:44I find it quite interesting. The first thing that I always
- 5:47point out about this verse is that it actually calls her the
- 5:50Harlot. Yeah, You know, I hope people
- 5:55don't introduce me that way to others.
- 5:57Oh, this is Dan the deceiver. You know, he, he trusted God and
- 6:02and now he's, he's righteous, Right.
- 6:04But just to call her that, like, notice that no matter who you
- 6:09are, no matter what you've done, God is not a respecter of
- 6:12persons. And he'll take the worst of the
- 6:14worst. Some of the people that we deem
- 6:16the worst in our society today, and I think rightfully so, are
- 6:20men who sell women for sex or women who sell their own bodies.
- 6:24They have no integrity. They have no self respect.
- 6:28They have no respect for other people.
- 6:30They're porno pornographers and all that kind of stuff.
- 6:33And we just write them out of our books as those are people
- 6:36not to associate with. And here we have the last person
- 6:39in the Hall of Faith labeled still as the harlot Rahab.
- 6:44Like, you know, what she was doing before these spies
- 6:47appeared, She was not going to church and right, you know,
- 6:50burning candles to the Lord or saying some prayers she did.
- 6:54The previous people who had were at her door were there for other
- 6:58reasons, you know, like you don't have to be a good
- 7:02religious person to trust God. She saw these spies come.
- 7:06She had been hearing about the the, the people of Israel.
- 7:08She saw them perhaps over the Jordan River gathering together,
- 7:12making their move to come over the Jordan.
- 7:14And she knew we're in trouble. And I've heard big things about
- 7:18their God. Their God has done some
- 7:19extraordinary stuff for them. And so he or she is as sinful
- 7:23and as dirty and as ugly and as unrighteous as possible.
- 7:26And she perished not with them that believe, not because she
- 7:30received the spies with peace. And so it's a huge lesson for us
- 7:33today, too, that she didn't stop being a harlot to become a
- 7:38Christian or to or to get saved in this sense.
- 7:40She didn't become a Christian in the in the in the biblical New
- 7:43Testament sense of the word, but he or she were was as
- 7:45unrighteous and ungodly as possible.
- 7:48And she trusted God. She believed God.
- 7:50And because of that, you know, it doesn't say here that she was
- 7:53counted righteous, but she and her whole household were saved.
- 7:56They perished not because she believed that God was good and
- 8:00that God would save them. She asked the spies to spare
- 8:03her, and they said that that would be the case.
- 8:06And so all of Jericho fell except for her one little
- 8:09section where that scarlet cord was outside of the window,
- 8:13right? And so pretty extraordinary
- 8:15story to think about that. And not only that, if she gets
- 8:18written about here in the Hall of Faith, but she also makes it
- 8:21into the genealogy of Christ, right?
- 8:23So pretty extraordinary stuff. That's so good there's.
- 8:27Welcome, Andrew. Good to see you.
- 8:31Yeah, I guess I'll say the same thing, just a little different
- 8:34way is. I mean, he kind of said this
- 8:37already, but to what I was thinking was the man was there.
- 8:41Like the reason nobody at first thought anything about these men
- 8:45being there is because she is a Harley, right?
- 8:47In other words, there was nothing funny about these men
- 8:51out of town, men going to her house because she is a harlot.
- 8:54And like Dan said, there's she didn't, she did not do anything
- 9:02leading up to that. You see no change of life until
- 9:07the moment that she just says, Oh my goodness, you guys are
- 9:10from that God. Please save me, right?
- 9:13I mean, you guys are here as spies from that God.
- 9:16There was nothing she she did not have to.
- 9:20I know we say this all the time. She didn't have to go through a
- 9:22course, she didn't have to go through a Bible study.
- 9:25She all she simply did was said I believe that we are done for.
- 9:32And, and like we pointed out last week, she's the only one in
- 9:36that city. And, and I would almost say, I
- 9:39mean she might have convinced her whole house by the time the
- 9:42walls fall down. But at this.
- 9:44Point. She's the only one in the city
- 9:46and in the house. Like as far as in in the
- 9:50beginning, she may have convinced her family, but as far
- 9:53as I can tell, she's the only one in that whole city,
- 9:55including maybe some or all those that was saved in her
- 9:59house that did believe this story.
- 10:02Like literally the only one that did believe this story.
- 10:04Now, like I said, she may have convinced her family, but at
- 10:06this point, she's all one believes this.
- 10:08That's what it says by faith the harlot, the Rahab, the harlot
- 10:12Rahab perished not with them that believed not so all the
- 10:16rest of the people in the city did not believe.
- 10:20And I just think. That's like I said it.
- 10:22She was, we would have all looked down at that and said she
- 10:25was the least likely to believe and yet she was the only one
- 10:29that did believe. But yeah, yeah, that's so good.
- 10:32And Andrew, I'll let you go next.
- 10:34But I was I was looking here where that is in Joshua, where
- 10:38that is recorded. Let's see if I can find it here.
- 10:44Is is that when those men came up to her, she said, for we know
- 10:47we heard how the Lord dried up the water of the Red Sea for you
- 10:51when you came out of Egypt and what she did unto the 2 kings of
- 10:54the Emirates that they were on the other side of Jordan, Sion
- 10:59and hog, whom ye utterly destroyed.
- 11:01And as soon as we heard these things are hardened and melt.
- 11:04Neither did there remain any more courage in any man because
- 11:07of you for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and in
- 11:11earth beneath. Now I therefore pray you.
- 11:15And he goes on to ask and it's incredible to me that they they
- 11:20kind of heard this second hand. They heard this rumor like
- 11:24reading the newspaper and we read in the newspaper how this
- 11:27God delivered and and kept them and they just that caused them
- 11:32to believe that this God was righteous and that he was a
- 11:34creator God of the universe that would bring things to pass in
- 11:38the exact way that he actually said that he would.
- 11:41That's exciting. Go ahead.
- 11:44Yeah, it's cool. I like how that when they came
- 11:52in, I think it's significant that she received them with
- 11:55peace like she didn't she didn't push back because it said it
- 12:01says that the hall we have perished, not with them that
- 12:04believe not when she had received despised with peace.
- 12:08She wasn't pushing back or anything like that.
- 12:11And then when she found out who their God was, then she was all
- 12:13in. So I want the gospel to do that
- 12:16same thing to us today is when we find out, oh, that's that.
- 12:21Like that's what people are talking about when they talk
- 12:23about Jesus Christ. I mean, no resistance.
- 12:29Yeah. Yeah, that's, that's good stuff.
- 12:32Amen. All right, verse 32.
- 12:36And what shall I sell? And what shall I more say?
- 12:41For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and of Barack and
- 12:46of Samson and of Jephthah and of of David also and Samuel and of
- 12:52the prophets who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought
- 12:56righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of
- 13:00lions, quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the
- 13:04sword out of weakness, were made strong, waxed valiant in fight,
- 13:10turned to flight the armies of the aliens.
- 13:15So it looks like the writers giving up on, on wasting paper
- 13:19here just to keep on going and going and going and going with
- 13:22these, all these stories. Yeah.
- 13:26Yeah, I mean, my mind always goes back to, I mean, you label
- 13:31any one of these people and you can get into their story and you
- 13:34can see how much they failed God.
- 13:36And they don't seem like the epitome of great men like the
- 13:40first one. Gideon.
- 13:41How many times did he not doubt God and test God and say, God,
- 13:44give me another sign. Show me another thing.
- 13:47He was he was not this great, great man of faith.
- 13:50And yet we look back at them from the Hebrews perspective
- 13:54here and say these people believe God and it moved them
- 13:57into action. It did actually cause them to do
- 14:00the thing that they were called to do, you know, several times
- 14:04asking for a sign and doesn't happen.
- 14:06Barrick wouldn't go into battle until the real hero of the
- 14:10story, Deborah, joins him. And he says, I'm not going to
- 14:13battle unless you come. And so Deborah kind of ends up
- 14:15leading them. And here Barrick gets the credit
- 14:18for it. Samson, we all know, you know,
- 14:20he was not a great man. He was a womanizer.
- 14:22And he liked this woman and that woman.
- 14:24And he just demanded these things of his parents.
- 14:27And yet he was moved by faith in the end that destroyed the enemy
- 14:32of the people of God and set them free, right.
- 14:34David, the man after God's own heart.
- 14:36There we have one redeeming person here, but the same time
- 14:39we, you know, he commits murder and he commits adultery and but
- 14:43by faith he slew Goliath and many other great feats that he
- 14:46did. Samuel, we read of his
- 14:48faithfulness to God and yet we read of his shortcomings and
- 14:50raising his own children. And yet nonetheless, he believed
- 14:53God. And then you could go through
- 14:55each one of these like it would pay dividends to do this is go
- 14:59through each one of these little comments that he makes.
- 15:02He talks about subdued kingdoms. There's actual stories of
- 15:06kingdoms subdued wrought righteousness.
- 15:08Like each one of these little examples is another hint to
- 15:12another story of the Old Testament that would prove this
- 15:15example a time and again that people moved by faith.
- 15:19It the faith that they received the the thing they believed was
- 15:23sufficient motivation to cause them to move and to do the thing
- 15:27and they they overcame and they accomplished these things by
- 15:31faith. And yet not all of them are
- 15:33these great accomplishments like you can think man subduing
- 15:36Kingdom sounds good. Rotting righteousness.
- 15:39I like that obtaining promises, stopping mouths of lions.
- 15:41But he also talks about, you know, later on being stoned and
- 15:46sauna sunder, right. So it's not all glorious and
- 15:49beautiful, but their faith had so convinced their mind of a
- 15:53truth that was outside of themselves that it motivated
- 15:56them and moved them through the most difficult circumstances to
- 15:59continue to go in a certain direction.
- 16:01And by it they obtained all these things right.
- 16:05How about that? That's pretty cool.
- 16:07Aired. Yeah, I agree.
- 16:11Actually, I have a little regret that he didn't go on because.
- 16:15Yeah. Of the of the details we got in
- 16:18Hebrews about some of these other stories you don't get
- 16:20anywhere else. So it's like, oh man, just tell
- 16:22us about that. You know, tell us those other
- 16:24stories. But but like Dan already touched
- 16:28on, and we're going to see it in just a second, is walking by
- 16:35faith is not going to have an exact outcome.
- 16:42In other words, and it might. And it and when I say that it's
- 16:45not going to have an exact outcome in the positive or the
- 16:49negative, what we would look at is positive or negative.
- 16:52You know, like, like Dan already said, these this is the this is
- 16:55the list of things that because of their faith, they were able
- 16:59to accomplish. And we look at them and then we
- 17:04say, wow, what a great story, what a great accomplish, what a
- 17:07great thing. And actually really up to this
- 17:10point, the ones that he went in detail all for the most part, I
- 17:15mean, they were all the same way.
- 17:17They accomplished something, right?
- 17:19There was something positive that came out of it or something
- 17:22that was. Effectual to other.
- 17:25People or benefited others and then but you're going to see
- 17:28that walking by faith it might have here in a minute.
- 17:33It might have it might have a death sentence with it right.
- 17:37I mean this had sentences of great accomplishment, but it
- 17:40might also have a sentence of death with it.
- 17:43But I just said that to say is it doesn't really matter the
- 17:49outcome. What really matters is that they
- 17:50believed God regardless of the outcome right.
- 17:54I mean that's what really matters.
- 17:55They believed God and went. Forward whether it.
- 17:59Was this great accomplishment or whether it meant their death,
- 18:03they followed what they believed God said or told them to do or
- 18:07would have them do. And that's the thing that I
- 18:09think, you know, we need to focus on, whether it's the
- 18:12positive great outcomes or the seemingly negative things.
- 18:18Yeah, that's that's really good, Andrew.
- 18:25If we go back in the beginning and Hebrews one and says in
- 18:29verse one God who has sent the times and divers manners spake
- 18:32and time passed unto the fathers by the prophets.
- 18:36So I was going to focus a little bit on the prophets that he
- 18:39mentioned in the one you read and also in Romans 1-2, Paul
- 18:48says which he had promised afford by his prophets in the
- 18:54Holy Scriptures. So we're starting to see a
- 18:56little picture of the significance of the prophets.
- 19:00And then verse chapter 3, verse 21 in Romans says, but now the
- 19:04righteousness of God without the law is manifested being
- 19:07witnessed by the law and the prophets.
- 19:11So the prophets and the law and these characters of faith, I
- 19:17think is a witness of the faith that we now have.
- 19:20And it's a building block or a piece that really it's something
- 19:25that will teach us and help us understand faith.
- 19:31And I think that's why he's adding all these guys up and
- 19:35multiplying in Chapter 11 of Hebrews and put the prophets in
- 19:42there. And then in Romans 1626 says,
- 19:46but now and now it's made manifest like it's, we
- 19:51understand it now. It's we can see now this whole
- 19:54deal with the prophets and what it was meant for in scriptures
- 19:57it says, but now it's made manifest and by the scriptures
- 20:01of the prophets according to the commandment of the everlasting
- 20:05God, made known, no longer hidden, made known to all
- 20:08nations for the obedience of faith, for the obedience of
- 20:14faith. And this is what I think the
- 20:19Hebrew author is trying to do. He is.
- 20:23Trying to encourage them to be obedient in that faith.
- 20:28We have all this history, we have all these witnesses, we
- 20:31have all these forefathers that have gone before us and
- 20:34demonstrated to us the very essence of faith.
- 20:38And we need to be obedient to it and walk in it regardless of
- 20:43what comes, because it doesn't get very pretty from here.
- 20:48Right, right. Yeah, Yeah, that's right.
- 20:53I'm going to, I'm going to ask a question here kind of out of the
- 20:57blue. I didn't prep you guys on this,
- 20:59but we hear the phrase or yeah, we hear the phrase like, you
- 21:03know, we need to believe God for this or whatever.
- 21:07We see that sometimes in the, I don't know, kind of faith
- 21:13healing circles or whatever. Now every one of these examples
- 21:17here, you know, it, these characters believed something
- 21:22for they believe something that God told them specifically or
- 21:26wrote down specifically. Is there in today's world, is
- 21:31there, is there a concept, a biblical concept regarding, you
- 21:35know, believing something kind of almost into existence?
- 21:40You know, do we see that anywhere in the Bible at all?
- 21:43It's just it's just something that that I've thought about.
- 21:47There's a really good video clip and if I would know how to share
- 21:51it on here, I would real quick. But it's a short clip that Frank
- 21:54Turek, which is Charlie Kirk's right hand man, has kind of all
- 21:58that that is just it's really good.
- 22:02And he just says that, you know, there's the the things that God
- 22:06says. He he gives us the outline, the
- 22:08framework of how we ought to believe and think.
- 22:11And if something fits inside of that, that it's that it's good.
- 22:14But anyway, I just kind of wondered what your thoughts were
- 22:17on, you know, we see exactly what faith is here.
- 22:19It's he's very clear. I don't think there should be
- 22:21any any. But is there something else
- 22:23besides this yet? Do you mean in addition to it or
- 22:29are you just saying, is there an instance in which today we could
- 22:33be like the woman that said if I just touch the hem of his
- 22:36garment, I'll be healed? I mean, is that what you mean
- 22:38or? Like, like is the is the idea of
- 22:41believing for something, you know it believing to receive
- 22:45something? Is that is that something that
- 22:47we could use based off of what we're hearing here?
- 22:50Today, I guess I would say that I, I don't know that I don't
- 22:57know that God would not at times answer prayers or answer faith
- 23:03like he did. For instance, the example I gave
- 23:06the woman with the issue of blood, that may happen
- 23:09sometimes, but I don't think that it is.
- 23:13I don't think it's this. What is it they say?
- 23:17What's the term like believe and receive?
- 23:20Like it's just inevitable. You know what I mean?
- 23:22Like, I don't know that it's I wouldn't say because I know we
- 23:26always say this probably, but you take like Paul has to leave
- 23:31somebody sick in a certain place and Paul asked to be healed
- 23:35himself three times and God says, no, my grace is sufficient
- 23:39for you. So I guess I would say that I
- 23:41wouldn't say God couldn't do that still, but it's not
- 23:45inevitable. It's not a believe and receive
- 23:48without, you know, like in any situation.
- 23:51But I don't know, I may be wrong but that's just my thing.
- 23:57Yeah. I I got Psalm on it if you like
- 24:01to hear it. Yeah, I would.
- 24:03I'm just. Charged, I believe it can line
- 24:10up exactly the way it lined up for them.
- 24:13Them believing the promise didn't mean to have to see the
- 24:16promise fulfilled nor the believer.
- 24:20A lot of these guys it'll say or has already said they died not
- 24:23receiving promises. So our understanding of faith is
- 24:27to study if it comes to pass, then we believed it.
- 24:30Then we had faith. These people are in the faith
- 24:33chapter because they believed it and they promised them he was to
- 24:36say, so if I pray for somebody and they don't get healed, that
- 24:41doesn't mean I don't believe that they're healed or that I
- 24:43don't believe in healings. I I believe it when Jesus said
- 24:50that the reason we're sick is because of unbelief or what were
- 24:54there. There's no, I don't think it's
- 24:57God's will for Christians. I think, well, let me put it
- 25:01this way. I think we have a promise from
- 25:04God, just like these dudes that our sins are washed away that
- 25:07was seated in handling of places and that we're healed.
- 25:10And whether I see that in this life is besides the point when I
- 25:15understand the way I understand faith.
- 25:18Faith is we believe it and it builds us up and we have both,
- 25:22but for it to be fulfilled is not what makes us have faith.
- 25:26What makes us have faith is the fact that He said that we are
- 25:30here, that he said that we are delivered.
- 25:34He said that our sins are all under the blood.
- 25:37He said that we are sitting in heaven, the places he says all
- 25:42our blessings are in, in heaven, the places Christ Jesus, all our
- 25:46spiritual blessings. So I want to embrace every one
- 25:50of them. I want to embrace feeling.
- 25:51I want to embrace everything. But unlike the false prophets
- 25:57today, they're, they think that their faith was justified if
- 26:01they can drum up a miracle or drum up something that somehow
- 26:05there's some free people of faith.
- 26:07The greatest person of faith is the one that believes without
- 26:10any, without anything, any, without any manifestations.
- 26:17I've known of people, a couple people in my personal
- 26:20acquaintances here, that believed God for things, but it
- 26:24almost seemed like they were hoping that they were impressing
- 26:28God with their faith and that their faith would somehow now
- 26:31purchase what they were asking for exactly.
- 26:34I. Was trying to ask that that's.
- 26:36Yeah, so the one guy in particular, he was a bit of a
- 26:39faith preacher. He was a faithful missionary for
- 26:41many years. Many people came to the Lord
- 26:43through him. He was a Mennonite background
- 26:45too. And then he started this whole
- 26:46new church where they, they were all about faith and healing and
- 26:49Sabbath keeping. And his wife got terminal cancer
- 26:54and they just believed God. Like they, and it did the same
- 26:57thing as this, like they, they actually believed God and they
- 27:00moved in this direction. God is going to heal her to the
- 27:04point where like after she was already dead, he was still
- 27:07refusing to give up. Like no, God's going to raise
- 27:09her. And it all just fell apart.
- 27:11Like the whole church, the whole system, everything was gone
- 27:14right? Because he was determined that
- 27:16God would, would recognize his faith in some way or something,
- 27:21because I think he was hinging his faith on a thing not spoken
- 27:25to him at this point in time, right.
- 27:27So now he, his faith kind of fell apart.
- 27:30I don't know him personally that well, but it almost seemed like
- 27:33his whole movement kind of fell apart because he, he didn't have
- 27:37enough faith or that maybe their faith was misguided or
- 27:41misplaced. And to me, that's kind of a trap
- 27:44to fall into. I mean, Jesus talks about
- 27:48whatsoever you ask, if you ask in faith, it will be given you.
- 27:52James says to pray in faith and you will receive it.
- 27:56You know, ask for wisdom and you'll receive it.
- 27:58But the things that we're talking about in Hebrews 11 here
- 28:01are, are clearly stated by God to this individual.
- 28:06This is what I need you to do. And then they move.
- 28:08Sometimes they moved in the wrong direction, but they were
- 28:11so committed to what God had said that they began to move
- 28:15based on what God had said. And so God hasn't promised us
- 28:19that our loved ones won't die and that will somehow keep them
- 28:23with us forever, or that they'll be healed of every disease and
- 28:27that, you know, or else whilst we'd already be an eternity and
- 28:30living on and on and on, right. And so here he now shipwrecked a
- 28:35lot of people's faith because he had convinced people that his
- 28:39wife was going to get well because she was already healed.
- 28:42And it, it felt pretty, pretty bad on the community here,
- 28:47right? And that's what I was talking
- 28:49about is that I don't, I'm not talking about that type of
- 28:53faith. That's not really faith.
- 28:54He was trying to believe in something that has to be proven
- 29:00on the promise that he made to himself.
- 29:05That's bad like he he has to have his promise, but he feels
- 29:12that he has for himself to be fulfilled in order for faith to
- 29:17be true of God, to be true Bible faith.
- 29:22If Abraham was like that, he would have he would have died a
- 29:27billion would be a faith chap. You know, everybody said no,
- 29:31he's there. If I I don't see ancestors like
- 29:34Santa seize. So that was a flop.
- 29:38So a lot of these characters wouldn't be face chapter.
- 29:43It was the type of faith that it preached, yeah.
- 29:47That's. Good.
- 29:49All right. I want to get that out of my
- 29:52system. All right.
- 29:56Verse 35. Women received their dead,
- 29:59raised to life again, and others were tortured, not accepting
- 30:02deliverance, that they might obtain a better resurrection,
- 30:06and others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yay,
- 30:11moreover, of bonds and imprisonments.
- 30:15They were stoned, they were sought asunder, were tempted,
- 30:18were slain with the sword. They wandered about in
- 30:21sheepskins and goat skins, being destitute, inflicted, tormented,
- 30:30of whom the world was not worthy.
- 30:32They wandered in deserts and inbounds and in dens of caves
- 30:35and all of there. And yeah, this is you already
- 30:40kind of pointed at this stand, but that doesn't look for it's
- 30:45pretty easy to get excited when you read of somebody believing
- 30:49and a super miracle came to pass which brings joy to your heart.
- 30:54Stuff like this is not very joyful, is it?
- 31:01Go ahead, Dad. Yeah, this is, this is not
- 31:05something you'll hear at a prosperity gospel delivery
- 31:09meeting, right? Where, Hey, you believe God
- 31:11today. Your dead will be raised in your
- 31:15you know, people that are in wheelchairs will walk again and
- 31:17your sight will be restored and you'll be sawn asunder and
- 31:21you'll have to walk around in sheepskin and goats.
- 31:24Not like it just doesn't fit with their message at all right?
- 31:27But the same faith that motivated people that moved
- 31:31people in a direction that saw them dead have dead people
- 31:35raised from the death from dead and had them overcome whole
- 31:39kingdoms and rot righteousness. That same faith also motivated
- 31:43someone to say, you can do whatever you want to me.
- 31:46I'm going to continue in this direction.
- 31:48And then they ended up in torture and in terrible
- 31:51predicaments, being stoned and cut apart and tempted by who
- 31:55knows what and slain with the sword and wandering about
- 31:58torment that afflicted, you know, the the world is not
- 32:01worthy of the kind of people who are so convinced that God said
- 32:05what he said. And I'm going to not turn back
- 32:07on it, no matter else, no matter who else turns back.
- 32:11You know, even Lot, you think of Lot.
- 32:13And we have a lot of criticism toward Lot.
- 32:15But his wife turned around, and she was turned into that pillar
- 32:18of salt. And he kept moving forward,
- 32:20knowing that he had lost his wife, but he would not turn
- 32:23back, you know? And there's plenty of criticism
- 32:26for him for sure. And there should be, but it's
- 32:29hard to move in a direction that nobody else is moving in when
- 32:32you're convinced that this is what God has said.
- 32:35And so those kind of people are a wonder in this world.
- 32:38And it again, it's that same idea that God has said, I'm
- 32:41going to go conquer this, this terrible enemy.
- 32:44God has said I'm going to leave everything behind and I'm going
- 32:46to go wander in the wilderness like it's it's the same type of
- 32:49motivation because I believe God is true no matter what happens
- 32:53to me, no matter the outcome. So these people were not in it
- 32:56for glory. They were not in it to see dead
- 32:58raised from the dead. They were in it because they
- 33:00believe God no matter what. Yeah, that's good.
- 33:06Yeah, now I really can't build on that much.
- 33:09I just, I think it's interesting that there's that divide in
- 33:14verse 35, because it is. It's like women receive their
- 33:17dead raised to life again, which is almost the I mean it, you
- 33:21know, in a carnal sense, that's the almost the the ultimate
- 33:25miracle. Somebody actually dies and then
- 33:29you get them back right, that that's almost like the ultimate
- 33:32miracle and then it changes pace.
- 33:37There's were tortured, you know, like, I mean, think about what a
- 33:40Contra has to do is it's like the ultimate miracle.
- 33:44And then other people are hoping maybe God will deliver them like
- 33:49God did David from Saul's hand and now they get tortured.
- 33:54You know, I'm like, no, I just think that's it's like, like I
- 33:58said, Dan summed it up really well.
- 34:00It is. It's just a it is.
- 34:03It's being confident, like I said a while ago, being
- 34:06confident what God said, regardless of the outcome, like
- 34:10regardless. Yeah, that's yeah, that's well
- 34:15said Andrew. Yeah, this, that question you
- 34:20asked, is this actually a great explanation or this just shows
- 34:24exactly what Dan was talking about as far as the biblical
- 34:28idea of faith. You know, in today's faith, they
- 34:37would insult these people that were tortured, that died of the
- 34:43sword that wipes valet and flight, flight not accepted
- 34:50deliverance mockings, scorchings, you know, violence,
- 34:56imprisonment template. Solomon sounded all that.
- 34:59It's like, why didn't they believe in the deliverance?
- 35:01What didn't they believe in the miracle?
- 35:03It was that lack of faith. It was the lack of belief that
- 35:06they they did, they weren't delivered.
- 35:08They didn't get a word of knowledge.
- 35:09They didn't spend time with God. They didn't have the Holy Ghost.
- 35:13And but God has a whole different answer to that.
- 35:20God's answer is that peace, the world's not worth it for these
- 35:23people's sake. And I don't want to speak any
- 35:29more hard times in my life, but that's the faith I want.
- 35:33I want the faith like that. I don't, I don't want want, I
- 35:37don't want to be tried anymore. But I I that is the faith you
- 35:41need though, right? Amen.
- 35:43That's that's good. We're not looking at the
- 35:46deliverance is and good times does not mean you're strongly
- 35:51faith or that that's the best like God looked at these that
- 35:56were tortured and died and didn't received a promise and he
- 36:00said you know what the world's not working these people and the
- 36:04Christians surveyed which he prefers force to throw stones at
- 36:06these feet and that's why I always say the prosperity
- 36:11message and their deliverance messages create more unbelievers
- 36:16than anything because it caused the budget.
- 36:22How could I illustrate this? You know, when there's marriages
- 36:26and you know it's not good, but at church they smile at each
- 36:28other and that smile, you can just see through it.
- 36:35That's the kind of smile and joy that they have in the Lord.
- 36:39It's a horrible relationship. God's not not holding up his end
- 36:44of the deal, but I'm supposed to be nice and I'm supposed to
- 36:47smile and I'm supposed to believe him.
- 36:49I'm supposed to respect him. And they have this fake
- 36:52ridiculous smile. It's like a bad relationship at
- 36:55church trying to look happy and that's sad to me.
- 37:00I That's why I hate prosperity gospel.
- 37:04Yeah, that's well said, Andrew, that I think that sums it up
- 37:07really good. And yeah, because all of these,
- 37:11all of these people would have been blocked in these with these
- 37:14circles because, oh, you just don't have enough faith.
- 37:17You must not. That's why you're not like
- 37:19Moses. That's why you're not over here
- 37:20on the other side of the page where he talks about all the
- 37:22good things. My mind, as you were talking
- 37:25there, my mind goes to Joe. You know, if we see, yeah, I
- 37:29mean, if we see the whole picture written from the
- 37:31backside of Joe's story, now we can understand a little bit
- 37:36better what's going on there. And you know, whether it's the
- 37:40one that's getting saw the sun or the one that believed for a
- 37:44nation that was coming that he didn't see whether either one of
- 37:46those God gets glorified. God gets the glory like he
- 37:50rightly should for the for the situation, whatever it is.
- 37:54How about that one that's getting sought at his last dying
- 37:57words is God is Lord. God is a maker of the universe.
- 38:01How about that? Oh yeah.
- 38:04And think about these guys that were thinking about going back
- 38:06to Judaism, and he's doing this to him.
- 38:09You think this is bad? Are you sawing us under?
- 38:12Yeah. I like Job's attitude actually.
- 38:15And Job 19 He says, I know that my Redeemer liveth.
- 38:20So here he is in the in the midst of his worst possible
- 38:22trials. He's covered in boils and his
- 38:24children are all dead and his wife has told him to curse God
- 38:27and his friends have come to make a mockery of his life and
- 38:30and question his reputation. He says, I know that my Redeemer
- 38:33liveth and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the
- 38:36earth. And though after my skin worms
- 38:40destroy this body, yet in my flesh I still shall see God.
- 38:44That's extraordinary faith. He knows the yeah, this sucks.
- 38:49This is about as bad as it could possibly be, but I know that
- 38:52things are going to be good. And that's a faith that has to
- 38:55honor God. God, he that comes to God must
- 38:58believe that he is and that is a rewarder of them that diligently
- 39:00seek him. And that without faith, it's
- 39:02impossible to please God. And there was Job with nothing
- 39:06left to brag about. And he says, But even when my
- 39:09body is eaten by worms, one day I'm going to see him face to
- 39:12face. And I know one day he's going to
- 39:14stand on this earth. And that's my hope.
- 39:17That was Job's fate. And then that's what we need
- 39:19right there. That's a good word for me right
- 39:24now, Dan. That's that's good stuff.
- 39:27I was just now thinking 2 of the disciples that said judge you,
- 39:30whether it would be better for us to, you know, listen to you
- 39:34or God. Yeah, that's that's good stuff.
- 39:41OK, 39 and these all and here's the upside of the whole thing
- 39:46here and these all had you got 3 little space.
- 39:52I'll get you there. Andrew.
- 39:53For some reason your mic gets a lot of feedback when you're not
- 39:56talking, it says. And these all, having obtained a
- 40:01good report through faith, received out the promise, God
- 40:04having provided some better thing for us that they without
- 40:07us should not be made perfect. Any additional comments on those
- 40:10last two verses there then? Well, none of the people that
- 40:14he's mentioned till this point actually received the promise of
- 40:17eternal life through the work of Christ on the cross.
- 40:19None of them have ever made perfect like we are now said to
- 40:23be in the gospel. And yet one day when He returns,
- 40:26we will fully realize this. Being made perfect, we along
- 40:30with all the Saints of old will together be made perfect.
- 40:33We are counted that way now. So God allows all these things
- 40:37to come upon these people so that the dross will melt away,
- 40:41so that you'll stand firmly grounded, rooted in Christ
- 40:45alone, just like Job near the end of his life, right?
- 40:48Or not near the end of near the end of his trials, he was firmly
- 40:51grounded. That no matter what happens, I'm
- 40:53standing here because that's my hope.
- 40:56And so God allows these trials, these tests of our faith.
- 41:00And you know, you can speak into them all you want, but until you
- 41:04go through it, you can't, you can't really feel it, right?
- 41:07And so God does allow certain things to get stripped away from
- 41:11us so that our faith stands more firmly in him.
- 41:13And one day our faith will be found unto praise, honor and
- 41:17glory at the appearing of the Lord Jesus Christ, right?
- 41:19That's that's the only way to stay motivated through tests and
- 41:23trials and tribulations. Book of James says to count it
- 41:26all joy when you fall into these diverse temptations, right?
- 41:28So yeah. It's good there.
- 41:33Well, I was just kind of thinking that this is one of
- 41:36those 39 and 40 is one of those times that you kind of have to
- 41:39think about where you're at. Where are we reading?
- 41:43Because he's, he's in this book of trying to encourage people to
- 41:50believe that Christ fulfilled in his work all those things that
- 41:55the law and the prophets all pointed to, right?
- 41:58I mean, that's what he's been trying to make them try to see.
- 42:02And he goes back and tells all these stories that that these,
- 42:06if they are Hebrews, they would have found great joy in like,
- 42:10oh, I wish I could do some great thing like that.
- 42:14And to me, he's basically saying, listen to believe on
- 42:18Jesus as the one that that fulfilled all these things is
- 42:22really greater than what they did.
- 42:24It's not in a sense, right? I mean, so I do think you have
- 42:28to think about the context of why he would say this.
- 42:30You know, he's he's been trying to bring this out this whole
- 42:33time, trying to prove this, that Christ fulfilled all those
- 42:37pictures and all those images that the Old Testament was
- 42:41pointing to. And yet you're living in a
- 42:44greater time and with greater, you know, really a greater
- 42:48opportunity than all those people had.
- 42:51And so I, I don't know that that's what I thought about when
- 42:54I read those verses, but. Yeah, no, that's, that's really
- 42:57good. And so in other words, do you
- 42:59want to do something even more impressive than Moses did?
- 43:05Believe that Jesus died through your sins?
- 43:06That's that's that's the argument in faith of it.
- 43:09That's yeah. Yeah, there's two things I that
- 43:15are a highlight here in these passages #1 is verse 39 to all
- 43:23those that cried out to God in the worst times of their life
- 43:29and didn't get an answer. That doesn't say you didn't have
- 43:36faith. You didn't put that in the bank
- 43:39with this verse. They died without receiving the
- 43:42promises that they were promised.
- 43:45They were promised and they died without them coming to pass.
- 43:51And they're in the faith chapter.
- 43:53So don't think that you're just not believing it.
- 43:56Don't think that somehow it your faith is void or it's no good
- 44:01because in your horrible time you weren't delivered.
- 44:05That's a lie. God is looking for people that
- 44:09believe in what it comes to pass or not.
- 44:11That's not the point. And then in verse 40, God hadn't
- 44:16provided some better thing for us.
- 44:18I think that better thing that it's provided for us is we see
- 44:22the cross behind us instead of looking for one of us.
- 44:26Yeah, hey, that's. Sounds good.
- 44:31That's exactly right. OK, any overriding thoughts
- 44:36about Hebrews 11 or something that we've been this far yet?
- 44:40I appreciated what you said, Aaron, as a recap to, you know,
- 44:46think about going down to what he's saying and, and, and seeing
- 44:49the context for for real. I appreciate you pointing that
- 44:53out because that is that is what the author here is trying to do
- 44:57is to get us to believe that Jesus fulfilled everything that
- 45:03was that was required in the law and did so majestically.
- 45:08As a matter of fact, like early on, you know, talking about
- 45:11better than the age was a better better than the law and all that
- 45:14stuff. So very methodical and a very,
- 45:18like I said earlier when I was starting this, this study has
- 45:21been really good to just re see a lot of these truths about what
- 45:26simplicity and the practicality of faith.
- 45:31It's not just a pie in the sky, Hallelujah, I love Jesus kind of
- 45:34thing, but more this is how it works and this is how we could
- 45:38be edified by it. All right, we'll jump right over
- 45:45to 12/1. I was going to say, I was just
- 45:50going to say briefly that sometimes in this Hall of Faith
- 45:54chapter, we can get kind of misguided and think that maybe I
- 46:00should be subduing kingdoms or stopping the mouths of lions, or
- 46:03maybe I should go off into the wilderness and suffer some great
- 46:05trial. And again, just want to
- 46:07reiterate, that's not the point. The point is hold fast to what
- 46:12God has said through his Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 46:15He gave himself for our sins once and he sat down at the
- 46:19right hand of God and he's going to come back.
- 46:21And then will that is to come will be subject to humanity at
- 46:25Christ being the chief, the salvation which the captain of
- 46:29this new race of this new earth. And so continue to cling to
- 46:33that. And then whatever comes comes,
- 46:37that's fine. Let it be.
- 46:38Let great things happen, let terrible things happen.
- 46:41But we continue on that trajectory.
- 46:44We continue to trust in what God has done through Christ.
- 46:48And so he's not asking you to do any of the things that Abraham,
- 46:51Isaac, Jacob, or those guys did because they were given
- 46:53different sets of promises or different challenges in their
- 46:57day. Our challenge today, and as
- 46:59Aaron already pointed out, the challenge of the the Hebrews
- 47:02there was or what if we should just go back to the Jewish
- 47:05faith? What if we just go back to the
- 47:07Tabernacle or the temple? And here he's saying, no, you
- 47:11continue to trust God and many things will happen, maybe
- 47:14extraordinary things, maybe terrible things, but you just
- 47:17continue to move based on faith, right?
- 47:24No, I'm just going to say he's. That's actually very, very
- 47:28relevant to the actual people he's writing to, because they
- 47:32might see 5000 get saved, or they might be thrown into the
- 47:38middle of a arena and eat by a lion, right?
- 47:41No words for their faith. Like literally in their day.
- 47:44The people he's writing to could see either one of those things
- 47:48happen. They could see this gospel
- 47:51effect, a multitude of people and, and see some great thing
- 47:55happen. Or they very well could be
- 47:57gathered up and thrown into prison or eat by a line or
- 48:00whatever, right? In other words, he's saying that
- 48:03these people in the past saw great things, but they also saw
- 48:07saw horrible things. And you might do the same but
- 48:11continue to believe, right? I mean, look, another word.
- 48:15I'm just saying literally in 3rd day this was a possibility.
- 48:20In other words, in other words, our faith, He's been working on
- 48:26us in this book all along, trying to get us rooted and
- 48:32grounded and built up in the faith like an anchor of the
- 48:36soul. And when you're got that anchor
- 48:40deep, when hardships calm, it just digs harder.
- 48:44And the dirt, like if you start pulling on a bolding boat
- 48:46anchor, it doesn't start coming up, it goes down deep.
- 48:50And then if you pull a little harder, it will go down deeper
- 48:53yet. So based on how hard you pull
- 48:56and how much you pull, it goes down, gets in.
- 49:01And I think that's a good, good wording that he used there about
- 49:05an anchor of the boat, anchor of the soul.
- 49:09And that's why you see families like Sean and Randy Lang when
- 49:13the worst, what we would say, the worst things happen, their
- 49:17faith just gets stronger. The anger just gets deeper and
- 49:20then the joy just gets brighter and the pain might be worse.
- 49:25But there the hope that is set to far as it's just greater.
- 49:30And that is the hope that we have in very difficult times.
- 49:36And what we seldom see in a situation like these, you know,
- 49:43stone and sought asunder asunder and being tormented and
- 49:49wondering about in sheepskins and destitute and afflicted and
- 49:51tormented or the situation with the Boise's there.
- 49:57What we sell, what we don't think about is how how that
- 50:02affects the people that are watching from the outline in
- 50:08like like, well, for what we're going to read here about that,
- 50:12that crowd, that cloud of witnesses, That's one thing.
- 50:15But what about what about the the unbelieving witnesses that
- 50:19are seeing all this? What do they see when they see a
- 50:22person, like I said earlier, being saunas under his last word
- 50:26is God is king. You know that the Lord served as
- 50:29good. You know, I mean, that is a
- 50:32powerful, powerful testimony that you do not have the
- 50:35opportunity to create without some kind of hardship, you know,
- 50:39so and it goes back and it glorifies God.
- 50:41And to see Shawn and Brendolyn dig in and, and and yet praise
- 50:48God for his goodness and his glory.
- 50:52What does that do in the face of some silly faith healing?
- 50:58Yeah. Or or another like me watching
- 51:01in from the outside and seeing somebody's faith actually
- 51:06strengthened and they stand up with a smile on their face in
- 51:09the face of the worst possible predicament.
- 51:12I mean, that is incredibly. Powerful chili up and down my
- 51:17body right now. I was going to say, though,
- 51:19something like a Charlie Kirk and his family and the people
- 51:22around him, it feels like they, they're kind of belong in this
- 51:26chapter, right? Because they were standing for
- 51:28some great truth and then an extraordinary terrible thing
- 51:31happened or, you know, the Daniel thrown into a lion's den
- 51:35and so on and so forth. Those are because of their
- 51:38faith. They this happened.
- 51:39But when something like this happens, it just seems like it,
- 51:42it's so out of the ordinary. It doesn't actually fit any
- 51:45grand narrative. It's not like, you know, they
- 51:48were facing some terrible onslaught of the enemy and
- 51:50that's why this thing had to happen.
- 51:52It feels like doesn't belong. I know it.
- 51:54Does fit the story of Job a lot more.
- 51:57We're just suddenly out of the blue.
- 51:59Like here you got every opportunity to curse God and
- 52:02die, just forget about it. Like this, not worth it.
- 52:06But yet he prays God right? So it seems less less like it
- 52:12makes less sense. Yeah, Charlie Kirk type of
- 52:15thing. That's exactly what makes the
- 52:17struggles hard. And yeah, it makes it so hard
- 52:20because it's described it perfectly how it is and it does
- 52:24make it. It is a challenge.
- 52:29But God who is wise and able suckers fuckering us in our
- 52:35times of stress or temptation or whatever.
- 52:39Yeah, so good to have a God that actually cares and and better
- 52:44yet, is able, is able to do what he said.
- 52:52All right, we got 5 minutes. I kind of hate to tear into this
- 52:57next chapter, but I guess we'll give it a real brief overview.
- 52:59Then we'll start here again, wherefore seeing we also are
- 53:05passed about with so glad great a cloud of witnesses.
- 53:08Let us lay aside every weight and the sin which does so easily
- 53:12beset us and let us run with patience the race that is set
- 53:16before. So I'm going to stop, but I know
- 53:17there's a comma there, but I'll stop.
- 53:20There's a lot of a lot that could be said in this verse 1,
- 53:25you know, to consider, like I said earlier, the the cloud of
- 53:28witnesses that watch in on a situation, you know, consider
- 53:32that that is a that is a very real reason to do what you do.
- 53:37It's not all the reason, but but the effect, the ripple effect of
- 53:40somebody standing in faith and operating in faith is so much
- 53:45further than anyone could ever imagine that they would be.
- 53:48That ripple will go generations. It will go from community to
- 53:52community and things like that. And then of course, the other
- 53:57side there lay aside the weight of the sin, which does so easily
- 54:00be set. I mean, that is the other side
- 54:03of this exact same coin. Because there's always something
- 54:06that is going to want to pull us away from this, this faith,
- 54:10whatever it is that it puts us through.
- 54:12And just say, you know, it's not worth it.
- 54:15It's probably not worth it. There's and you just get weak
- 54:17and cowardly because you forget the promises of God and whatnot
- 54:22anyway at the end. Yeah, I will definitely have to
- 54:26get into this more to get the full teaching of it.
- 54:28But just one of the things I'd like to point out is that this
- 54:31word witnesses is also translated as martyr on several
- 54:34occasions. But it's a comforting verse to
- 54:38people who have lost loved ones. We just been speaking to a very
- 54:42dear friend of ours who's husband died several years ago
- 54:45in a tragic plane crash. He was a preacher of the gospel,
- 54:48like you wouldn't believe, very passionate for the for the
- 54:50truth. And just out of the out of the
- 54:52blue for no apparent reason, he was dead, right?
- 54:55It just doesn't add up. And to this day, you know, 5 or
- 54:576 years later, she's wondering about how does this all make
- 55:00sense? And one of the comforts that she
- 55:03can take is that we have this great cloud of witnesses.
- 55:06So the one comfort that she has, and it's not her ultimate
- 55:11comfort because her comfort is in Christ, but to know that her
- 55:14husband is also witnessing and watching what's going on and
- 55:18maybe kind of cheering on and standing on the sidelines and
- 55:21saying keep moving, keep going, like don't give up.
- 55:24It's well worth the fight. You know, to know that we have a
- 55:27great cloud of witness. We're compassed about with a
- 55:30whole mass of martyrs and people who've gone before who have died
- 55:34in the faith, who have continued in the faith.
- 55:36Do not give up and don't let the weight wear you down, right?
- 55:41Run with patients. And so there's a there's a lot
- 55:43of comfort in a passage like this.
- 55:46Came out air. I was just going to say that Dan
- 55:53kind of said this earlier, but we're not going to have this.
- 55:57I mean, I'll guarantee you you're not going to be building
- 56:01a boat like Noah. You're you're not going to be
- 56:04leading people out of Egypt like Moses.
- 56:07But we've all got a race. I mean, knows what he says.
- 56:10Let us run with patients, the race that is set before us.
- 56:17Like all of us, you could save the rest of your life from the
- 56:21time you believe is a race like it is a race.
- 56:26Your race looks totally different than mine in the sense
- 56:29of the obstacles that I'm faced with, but it is a, a running
- 56:37along a pathway of life that I am tempted to not believe and
- 56:43encouraged to believe in, right? I mean that all of our
- 56:47situations differ, but they're all the same in that we are
- 56:51tempted to not believe, to not believe and told to believe.
- 56:58So I would just like I said, whatever your race is, it's it's
- 57:02going to look different than the next person's race.
- 57:06But whatever it is he's saying let you run your race, just run
- 57:11it. Just keep going forward.
- 57:13Just continue to believe regardless of what obstacles
- 57:16comes up in front of you, and they're going to be different
- 57:20than all these. Peoples we that's what Good
- 57:23stuff, Edward. Yeah.
- 57:25I just also like how he's gathering all these witnesses
- 57:31and putting them up in a big cloud and just letting it
- 57:34hangover us as a witness that when we look up it's just there
- 57:38a big cloud of them and says like that cause us the latest
- 57:44side every way. Not some weights, but all the
- 57:48weights for that fits this versus for everyone that's
- 57:52troubling for everyone that thinks they're going through
- 57:55something that nobody else is. When you think that you're God's
- 58:00picking on you or somehow everyone else has a good life
- 58:03but you don't. Harry says to let lay aside
- 58:07every way that's including yours.
- 58:11And if there's any sin that's holding you back or besetting
- 58:15you, you can you can put that lay aside back too and run the
- 58:21race without all them weights and keep believing and keep
- 58:26getting stronger and more fit and maybe even change your diet
- 58:30and do some workouts before you want.
- 58:36Random, but yes, absolutely. All right, we're going to.
- 58:42We're going to stop. What a fitting passage.
- 58:45Go ahead, go ahead Dad, get a talk.
- 58:47Oh, I just said what a fitting passage.
- 58:50Yeah, yeah. For the time, yeah.
- 58:52Very good. We'll revisit this again next
- 58:56week a little bit, maybe a little more depth.
- 58:58We get some time. But yeah, very good.
- 59:01Thanks everybody for being on tonight.
- 59:03It was a blessing. I appreciate your time.
- 59:06As we conclude today's study, remember Hebrews 11/1.
- 59:09Faith is a substance of things hoped for, the evidence of
- 59:11things not seen. But I pray that your faith will
- 59:14reveal biblical truths more clearly than your physical eyes
- 59:17can see the things on ground. Join us next Monday as we
- 59:21continue to look at God's Word through the substance of faith.
- 59:23God bless you guys. Thanks for your time.
- 59:26Our prayers are with you Andrew. Andrew and your community as you
- 59:30go forward not knowing what step one day at a time.
- 59:34Appreciate you guys, God bless.
