- 0:04SPEAKER_00: And Nelly.
- 0:07SPEAKER_01: It does.
- 0:07SPEAKER_00: Just checking in to make sure that you can get my messages.
- 0:09SPEAKER_00: Have a good day.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Yes?
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 0:10SPEAKER_00: Oh, got it.
- 0:11SPEAKER_00: Mary, we got it.
- 0:13SPEAKER_00: Also, I am a dish person, not because I want to be.
- 0:16SPEAKER_00: I want to be a cone person, but it's just messy.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: And uh this person said, uh, dish with waffle cone on top.
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I love the idea.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Why do I never think to do that?
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: Like the best of the.
- 0:27SPEAKER_01: Because you're brave enough.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: So today's uh ice cream cone day, and we've both agreed that we need to be dish people.
- 0:33SPEAKER_01: I'm always a dish people.
- 0:34SPEAKER_01: I'm training my children to be dish people because, well, first of all, you don't want to clean up the mess.
- 0:40SPEAKER_01: I don't want to clean up the mess.
- 0:41SPEAKER_01: I have de-evolved to being a toddler eating an ice cream cone.
- 0:44SPEAKER_01: Not only does it get all over my face, but it gets running down my arm on a cone and all that.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: So I said, okay, we're gonna go with a dish here.
- 0:49SPEAKER_01: And but you can have a cone on top of it.
- 0:51SPEAKER_01: That's that that you get the full experience without me having to clean up the full experience.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah, definitely.
- 0:57SPEAKER_00: Uh, I want to go on to something else.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: So, you know, when there is a homecoming hoco, yeah, and you're getting asked to homecoming, and usually it's like a big to-do.
- 1:09SPEAKER_00: They do almost like almost like a promptle, but it's for homecoming.
- 1:12SPEAKER_00: One of my girlfriends.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Are we still doing it to that level?
- 1:15SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 1:16SPEAKER_00: One of my girlfriends, her daughter just got asked to homecoming with like a big poster board and the big ask outside, and it was videotaped and all that stuff.
- 1:23SPEAKER_01: Oh god, I would have never had the guts in school to do this.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 1:27SPEAKER_00: So she put into chat GBT and shared it with me and my one girlfriend.
- 1:31SPEAKER_00: We're on a group chat.
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: She put uh what homecoming proposals would have been like in 2001.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Oh.
- 1:41SPEAKER_00: So I'm gonna give you a couple of the options that would be on the poster board.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: Are you ready for the first one?
- 1:47SPEAKER_01: Sure.
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: Um, this is peak 2001.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: It would be crazy if you said no, will you go to Hoko with me?
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Britney Spears Crazy.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes.
- 1:57SPEAKER_00: The classic cheesy poster.
- 1:59SPEAKER_00: It would be so sick if you didn't go to Hoko with me.
- 2:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, boy band era.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: I don't want to be incomplete without you at Hoko.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Will you go with me?
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Sure.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Mm-hmm.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: Uh, this is a 2011 teen romance poster.
- 2:16SPEAKER_00: There's no doubt about it.
- 2:19SPEAKER_00: I'd love to take you to Hoko, which is a no-doubt reference.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right.
- 2:23SPEAKER_00: Um, okay.
- 2:24SPEAKER_00: This one, this is Pop Quiz.
- 2:27SPEAKER_00: Will you go to Hoko with me?
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: A yes, B, yes, or C yes.
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Um, hold on a second.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: Wait, there's one more.
- 2:36SPEAKER_00: Uh, okay, this is for all the 2001 girlies.
- 2:39SPEAKER_00: You're the one I want to take to Hoko Greece.
- 2:43SPEAKER_00: Question mark?
- 2:44SPEAKER_00: Nah, I'd I've got a better idea.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: I don't get that one.
- 2:47SPEAKER_01: Uh-mm.
- 2:48SPEAKER_01: No, I don't get that one either.
- 2:49SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 2:50SPEAKER_00: But I have to tell you what my my one girlfriend's response was to this.
- 2:53SPEAKER_00: She goes, um, I'm glad that we didn't have this in our era.
- 2:59SPEAKER_00: There is so much pressure.
- 3:01SPEAKER_00: This is kind of where I was leaning.
- 3:03SPEAKER_00: Uh, I kind of feel bad for kids having to ask and having to accept this in a public display.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: Yes, it's uh it's a lot.
- 3:11SPEAKER_01: And and like I said, on the other side, I would have never had the guts to do this.
- 3:16SPEAKER_00: I don't think I would have the city.
- 3:17SPEAKER_01: I am really not great with rejection.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: I don't think I would have had the guts to do it because now I am the confident girly that you see now.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: And I was confident then, except for in certain situations.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: I didn't join ski club because I didn't have any other friends that were doing it.
- 3:31SPEAKER_00: I didn't go to our my confidence actually came in high school.
- 3:34SPEAKER_00: In middle school, I didn't go on our middle school trip because I was afraid of who was gonna be there, who, which room I was gonna sleep in.
- 3:41SPEAKER_00: I was afraid of the social situation of it.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: I didn't even, and we referenced this in the studio yesterday.
- 3:48SPEAKER_00: I bowed out of swimming in school because I was so self-conscious about what I would look like.
- 3:53SPEAKER_01: I I think a lot of people are like that.
- 3:55SPEAKER_00: And and so now adding a proposal in front of everyone.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's a lot.
- 4:01SPEAKER_01: It is it looks like it feels a little forcy.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: So yes yesterday when I watched the video of my girlfriend's daughter, Autumn was getting um Hoko proposed to.
- 4:10SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: And when I watched it I have not decided if I like the abbreviation of homecoming.
- 4:15SPEAKER_01: Hoko Hoko just sounds, you know, I don't know if it's the ho.
- 4:19SPEAKER_01: I can't figure it out.
- 4:20SPEAKER_00: But I mean, Autumn has been seeing this gentleman.
- 4:24SPEAKER_00: They've been kind of casually dating for a while now.
- 4:27SPEAKER_00: So uh and by a while I think like six months.
- 4:30SPEAKER_00: But I think that that was In teen years, that's like eight years.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: So I think that the yes was going to be there.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: That all right, since we're talking about this, I'm gonna cover one very heavy comment in a minute about the potential of a breakup that could happen, especially if you've got kids around the teen years.
- 4:51SPEAKER_01: I gotta I I've I've been hanging on to this for a long time, but now might be the time to share this with you.
- 4:58SPEAKER_01: If you are a parent, I want you to hear this in a minute because you may have a kid that's in a relationship.
- 5:05SPEAKER_01: In a relationship, and and I mean, let's be honest with you.
- 5:08SPEAKER_01: In the back of your mind, you're going, you guys are early in high school, you ain't gonna be together forever.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: So there's usually like one that survives.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: Yeah, one out of how many.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 5:18SPEAKER_01: So I want you to hear this in a minute.
- 5:20SPEAKER_01: It's a little heavy, but man, is it an interesting piece of advice?
- 5:23SPEAKER_01: Hold on.
