Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Another school shooting in the US, this time Minneapolis at
- 0:02Speaker 1: a Catholic school. Reporter is Tony Waterman, a US correspondent
- 0:07Speaker 1: joining US Tony, what's the lightest on this?
- 0:10Speaker 2: Well, just an absolutely horrific situation playing out early this morning.
- 0:15Speaker 2: The school was actually at mass. It was the first
- 0:18Speaker 2: week of school. They were there celebrating the start of
- 0:20Speaker 2: a new school year, and according to officials, a gunman
- 0:24Speaker 2: came up to the side of that church and shot
- 0:27Speaker 2: through the windows directly at students. Two children have now
- 0:32Speaker 2: been confirmed dead, eight and ten years old, killed essentially
- 0:36Speaker 2: while sitting in the pew of a church praying. Fourteen
- 0:40Speaker 2: other children were injured. Officials say that two of them
- 0:43Speaker 2: are in critical condition right now, and also three adults
- 0:47Speaker 2: were injured. Officials say that the shooter acted alone and
- 0:51Speaker 2: then it seems as if he shot himself self inflicted gunwound.
- 0:55Speaker 2: They say he was in his early twenties, that he
- 0:57Speaker 2: does not have an extensive criminal history, but he really
- 1:02Speaker 2: showed up there fully prepared for this. Police said that
- 1:06Speaker 2: he showed up with a rifle and a pistol and
- 1:08Speaker 2: that he was firing all three of the weapons that
- 1:10Speaker 2: he had on hand.
- 1:11Speaker 1: I know it's early tiny, but any idea why, or
- 1:14Speaker 1: whether it was a former student or anything like that.
- 1:17Speaker 2: Officials say they don't know if this is a former
- 1:19Speaker 2: student or a former employee at the school. They said
- 1:22Speaker 2: that he left behind a vehicle that they are searching
- 1:25Speaker 2: through trying to get any sort of information they can
- 1:28Speaker 2: about what a potential motive would be in this case.
- 1:32Speaker 1: All right, Tony, appreciate that. Up that Tony Woodman, a
- 1:34Speaker 1: US correspondent.
