- 1:47Speaker 1: What a weekend? Where do we even start? Because I'm curious.
- 1:51Speaker 1: I know you put out a video. I'm curious to
- 1:52Speaker 1: also dive into some some Michigan talk about what even
- 1:55Speaker 1: the hell you guys are going to do because it
- 1:56Speaker 1: seems like the entire operation and plan some of the
- 2:00Speaker 1: strategy had in place just all went to ship within
- 2:04Speaker 1: a total of like an hour to the public.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Eye, I one hundred percent agree, and I am the
- 2:09Speaker 3: public eye, So I like to believe that Michigan has
- 2:15Speaker 3: a better game plan than hey. Hopefully Kilin Debor loses
- 2:18Speaker 3: to Oklahoma and we'll get him and if not killing
- 2:20Speaker 3: Dillingham's chomping at the bit to leave his alma mater
- 2:23Speaker 3: in a place he loves more than anything to come
- 2:25Speaker 3: to Michigan. I'm hoping the thought process will went a
- 2:28Speaker 3: little more farther than that. If you and we talked
- 2:31Speaker 3: about this on the bus, if you're a top five program,
- 2:33Speaker 3: you want to sit there and like we hear with
- 2:36Speaker 3: ed EDDIEO when he's with LSU getting an interim head
- 2:39Speaker 3: coach job, he's meeting somebody at a gas station. There's
- 2:41Speaker 3: burner phones involved, like we have to cover all bases.
- 2:44Speaker 3: If you're the ad, if this happens, this happens, you're
- 2:46Speaker 3: always ready for every circumstance. So if something happens that
- 2:49Speaker 3: seems catastrophic, got your answers. My thought process in the
- 2:55Speaker 3: Michigan thing is this if sorry, sorry, I just I
- 2:59Speaker 3: know last week you had this strategy and I was
- 3:02Speaker 3: bought into it.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Like there's a strategy out there, and now the strategy
- 3:05Speaker 1: is just pure hope, like you're just hoping everything's okay.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Strategies Pio, I'm gonna play. I'm gonna talk as if
- 3:10Speaker 3: the only game Pan was Kailin de Borg Kenydingham. Because
- 3:13Speaker 3: if your thought process, if you're Michigan, is those are
- 3:16Speaker 3: two guys, then it's everybody else, which there's great coaches
- 3:18Speaker 3: out there that could take this job and be very successful.
- 3:20Speaker 3: I have no doubt in that. But if thats the
- 3:22Speaker 3: Michigan thought process, why would you in your mind settle
- 3:26Speaker 3: them for somebody else and just kick the can down
- 3:29Speaker 3: the road of the issues you already have, hoping that
- 3:31Speaker 3: this person's be successful when there's other two you know
- 3:34Speaker 3: would be successful. So for me, it's Biff Pogi. The
- 3:39Speaker 3: thought process is twenty twenty six. Say hey, we're gonna
- 3:43Speaker 3: go a bit for the year. You frame it as
- 3:46Speaker 3: we have a lot more issues than just to the
- 3:47Speaker 3: head coaches. Be the person Michigan. It's great for PR
- 3:50Speaker 3: You get your president in place who knows what happens
- 3:52Speaker 3: to the ward manual, whether he is the guy he
- 3:54Speaker 3: is not the guy. Clearly seems like the ball has
- 3:56Speaker 3: been fumbled with football, But if you look at every
- 3:59Speaker 3: other sport at Michigan, which is the athletic director, not
- 4:01Speaker 3: the football director. They're doing a very good job on
- 4:03Speaker 3: mat and so maybe he stays he doesn't, but foundationally
- 4:06Speaker 3: Michigan needs a whole lot more than just we have
- 4:08Speaker 3: a head coach. Now we ever answer, cause the last
- 4:12Speaker 3: five years have not been ideal other than a national championship.
- 4:15Speaker 4: Yeah, so you would think in a I'm not going
- 4:18Speaker 4: to say a perfect world, within the framework of this situation.
- 4:22Speaker 4: In a perfect world, you knew that the Sharon fire
- 4:25Speaker 4: firing was coming from a long way away, so you
- 4:27Speaker 4: had your ducks in a row. They didn't know the
- 4:29Speaker 4: Sharon firing was coming.
- 4:31Speaker 5: There were rumors I heard him, You heard him.
- 4:33Speaker 4: We talked about him a dozen times during the season,
- 4:36Speaker 4: but we never knew, like, are we sure they're going
- 4:38Speaker 4: to fire him? As it turns out, because they went
- 4:40Speaker 4: what nine to three regular season, I don't think they
- 4:43Speaker 4: were going to fire him until it all hit the
- 4:45Speaker 4: fan the week after the Ohio State game, and then
- 4:48Speaker 4: you've got an entire investigation and then they are firing him.
- 4:52Speaker 4: But the thing about it is, I'm convinced that Michigan
- 4:54Speaker 4: folks woke up the Sunday of that week, not expecting
- 4:58Speaker 4: to conduct a coaching search. Because of that, they had
- 5:01Speaker 4: to scramble a plan together. And because they had to
- 5:04Speaker 4: scramble a plan together, just like Penn State a few
- 5:06Speaker 4: months earlier, there were a certain number of candidates that
- 5:10Speaker 4: would be obvious, yes, don't even need to get approval
- 5:14Speaker 4: for type guys. In Penn State's case, that was Marcus Freeman,
- 5:18Speaker 4: that was Kaylin.
- 5:19Speaker 5: Guys like that.
- 5:20Speaker 4: And then once they quickly Mike Elko was another one.
- 5:22Speaker 4: Once they realized we're not getting those guys. Okay, those
- 5:24Speaker 4: are like the peak of the mountain. Then the mountain
- 5:26Speaker 4: gets really really wide, really really quick towards the base.
- 5:29Speaker 4: More people get involved, more voices, more sign offs, more
- 5:33Speaker 4: checks and balances. So with Michigan, once you realize, like
- 5:36Speaker 4: you said, this happened in like an eight hour span,
- 5:38Speaker 4: once you realize it's probably not Kaylan. I don't think
- 5:41Speaker 4: it ever was. But once you firmly realize it's not Kaylin,
- 5:44Speaker 4: then Kenny says, no, I'm staying home. You're kind of
- 5:47Speaker 4: back to square one. You always like to think somewhere
- 5:50Speaker 4: behind that curtain, they're just a bunch of mad scientists
- 5:53Speaker 4: and they're five steps ahead of us, and they've got
- 5:55Speaker 4: a master plan, and if that master plan doesn't work out,
- 5:57Speaker 4: it's got several side roads of contingency plans and will
- 6:01Speaker 4: be good. It's just a bunch of people who have
- 6:03Speaker 4: very very little idea of what tomorrow may bring trying
- 6:06Speaker 4: to conduct a coaching search.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Yeah, here's the problem. Is based on the reports that
- 6:10Speaker 3: have come out since Sharon got fired, is apparently allegedly
- 6:13Speaker 3: this was brought to the athletic department in the summertime.
- 6:17Speaker 3: Those are the reports that are being set on Twitter.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Whether it's true or it's not, let's just say it
- 6:21Speaker 3: is true. If you are the people making decisions at
- 6:24Speaker 3: the top and you're like, hey, where to conduct this search,
- 6:27Speaker 3: a piece of you, an alarm has to go off
- 6:29Speaker 3: of if there's validity to this, and the road would
- 6:31Speaker 3: be to fire him. What is our contingency plan.
- 6:33Speaker 4: That would be if you are the athletic director in
- 6:37Speaker 4: this case, we don't know that the AD is the
- 6:38Speaker 4: one running.
- 6:39Speaker 3: The search, right because it seems like there's multiple camps
- 6:42Speaker 3: buying for the top spot to make the decision at
- 6:44Speaker 3: the University of Michigan. That's where I sit there and
- 6:46Speaker 3: I'm like, yeah, Biff is. If Biff's sat here right now,
- 6:50Speaker 3: he would say, I'm not the long term answer for Michigan.
- 6:52Speaker 3: What do you take the job? Yes, absolutely, he knows
- 6:55Speaker 3: he's not the long term answer. Michigan knows and the
- 6:57Speaker 3: fan base knows. But if you're in the position you
- 6:59Speaker 3: are in now with the coaching cycle, it's pretty much
- 7:01Speaker 3: all the way gone through, and the two guys you
- 7:03Speaker 3: thought you had a real shot with that you believed
- 7:05Speaker 3: was of Michigan caliber, which is debatable at this point,
- 7:09Speaker 3: they're no long on the table. It's like, well, there's
- 7:12Speaker 3: gonna be a whole new coaching cycle next year. There's
- 7:13Speaker 3: gonna be job availabilities that we didn't see coming, just
- 7:17Speaker 3: like we saw this year. There's gona be big names
- 7:19Speaker 3: that are back in there, and why not be in
- 7:20Speaker 3: the front of the line for next year as opposed
- 7:22Speaker 3: to back the line you have a year of uncertainty.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Who knows? Like how boosters get behind a donors because
- 7:28Speaker 3: there's a level of Michigan arrogance in the donor category
- 7:32Speaker 3: where it's like, regardless of who the head coaches, we
- 7:34Speaker 3: want to be competitive. They're willing to put money in
- 7:37Speaker 3: and be like, hey, if you're the guy, get the
- 7:40Speaker 3: players you want the players you can get, and let's
- 7:42Speaker 3: be as competitive possible against a gautlet of a schedule.
- 7:44Speaker 3: And now you're in the middle of October, you're seeing
- 7:46Speaker 3: the board more clearly. You have a better foundation for
- 7:48Speaker 3: Michigan and you're able to go this is our guy
- 7:51Speaker 3: as opposed to a Russian because today is December twenty
- 7:55Speaker 3: second when we're shooting this, I got a Christmas shot
- 7:58Speaker 3: the same. The players either today, tomorrow, yesterday, are going
- 8:03Speaker 3: to go on Christmas break. You are absolutely foolish if
- 8:06Speaker 3: you think these kids are going to go home open
- 8:08Speaker 3: presence with their family and not here and have a
- 8:11Speaker 3: million conversations about what's revolved around them in the football building.
- 8:14Speaker 3: And guys are going to get in their air. You
- 8:16Speaker 3: can go here, you can go there. Tampering period is
- 8:18Speaker 3: crazy right now, but now you're away from your main
- 8:21Speaker 3: storyline and you're talking.
- 8:22Speaker 5: To now your parents are tampering with you exactly.
- 8:25Speaker 3: They know all the money could possibly Yet this is
- 8:28Speaker 3: going to be a very tough Christmas break for Michigan fans,
- 8:30Speaker 3: myself included.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Ah, losing is not that bad, Wow, losers not that
- 8:38Speaker 1: bad like you'll have to deal with weight loss, you
- 8:40Speaker 1: have to deal with muscle turning into fat, you have
- 8:43Speaker 1: to deal with some short term pains that you'll have
- 8:47Speaker 1: to deal with shaved heads. But then you can direct
- 8:53Speaker 1: your anger toward other teams and other fan bases and
- 8:56Speaker 1: other chaos, and then you just sit back and realize
- 8:58Speaker 1: this is just a game. It's just a game at
- 9:02Speaker 1: the end of the day. And then you just you
- 9:05Speaker 1: gear up for next season. Can you give me one?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Can you give me one second gear for next season?
- 9:09Speaker 1: But we're gonna take it all.
- 9:10Speaker 3: Can you give me a time out? We're gonna put
- 9:12Speaker 3: you in the little old box real quick as soundproof.
- 9:15Speaker 3: I don't want to end up like that. Yeah, I
- 9:17Speaker 3: do not want to become Oh that is you can't
- 9:20Speaker 3: hear us, so you can see.
- 9:21Speaker 5: Tell you something that used to be Will Compton?
- 9:23Speaker 3: Yeah, that used to Did you see his eyes?
- 9:27Speaker 2: I got bags under my eyes right now.
- 9:28Speaker 3: He's got bags under his eyes right And it's like
- 9:32Speaker 3: it's like a doll's eyes, like a shark size.
- 9:34Speaker 4: They're just they're just glassed over. They're looking off into space.
- 9:37Speaker 4: What is he looking at me?
- 9:38Speaker 2: Or Jupiter?
- 9:39Speaker 3: What is he looking at exactly he was talking to me,
- 9:42Speaker 3: but seeing through me, I do not want to become that.
- 9:47Speaker 3: His silver lining to me was, you can direct your
- 9:50Speaker 3: anger somewhere else.
- 9:52Speaker 5: Do you remember the fall? Do you remember week zero,
- 9:57Speaker 5: week one?
- 9:58Speaker 3: And you know what's fucked up? Josh Is. I'm so
- 10:00Speaker 3: glad I can't hear us. When we get on the
- 10:02Speaker 3: bus in March, he's gonna pull up the schedule and
- 10:05Speaker 3: he's gonna tell me. He's gonna look me in the eyes.
- 10:07Speaker 3: You're gonna say ten and two. He's gonna say ten
- 10:09Speaker 3: and two again. And being his friend, I'm gonna say, yeah,
- 10:13Speaker 3: you're right, I'm riding with you, and if I ever
- 10:15Speaker 3: go against it, all, all of a sudden, the bad
- 10:16Speaker 3: guy m in the trenches. The anger is getting directed
- 10:18Speaker 3: at me when I'm just trying to look at my boy.
- 10:20Speaker 3: But hey, all the things you just said, I've kind
- 10:23Speaker 3: of said to you. But anyway, I'm worried about him.
- 10:28Speaker 3: I don't come that. So let's let him. Should we
- 10:32Speaker 3: let him back out of the box.
- 10:33Speaker 5: I am.
- 10:34Speaker 4: I'm gonna do everything I can for you, Okay, I
- 10:39Speaker 4: need that. I'm gonna do everything I can for you.
- 10:41Speaker 3: My only hope, my only wish is we can go
- 10:44Speaker 3: back in time and when Will was starting this journey
- 10:47Speaker 3: with Nebraska, you were there to be there the way
- 10:50Speaker 3: you're gonna be there for me.
- 10:51Speaker 4: I stayed in the Foxhold as long as I could,
- 10:53Speaker 4: as long as because.
- 10:55Speaker 3: It's not built for everybody, because there's a lot of
- 10:57Speaker 3: question marks are revolving around Michigan. But like your three,
- 11:01Speaker 3: Matt Ruhle.
- 11:03Speaker 5: Like even Dylan left.
- 11:06Speaker 3: Yeah, what happened that man?
- 11:08Speaker 2: We're building the program?
- 11:09Speaker 5: Is he reading our lips? He's talking in there. I
- 11:12Speaker 5: see him talking in.
- 11:13Speaker 2: There, doing something.
- 11:14Speaker 3: Anyway, let's get him out of it. I'm sure he's
- 11:16Speaker 3: running out of air. You're back.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I'm not runn out of air.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I'm just I'm running off a strictly caffeine and Greek yogurt.
- 11:22Speaker 1: I found out about sixteen ounces of it. It's all
- 11:24Speaker 1: I'm running on. I got a kid at home right
- 11:26Speaker 1: now with one hundred and three fever.
- 11:27Speaker 5: You gotta scratch on your neck.
- 11:29Speaker 2: I gotta stretch scratch on my neck for my one
- 11:31Speaker 2: year old. It's just a game.
- 11:32Speaker 5: It's just a.
- 11:35Speaker 3: I don't want to become. I'm excited. You have to
- 11:39Speaker 3: hear that, because we weren't just talking about you. We
- 11:40Speaker 3: had a couple of other things, But I really don't
- 11:42Speaker 3: want to become what you're doing right now.
- 11:43Speaker 4: This this this went from we're going in tonight and
- 11:47Speaker 4: someone's not coming back alive.
- 11:49Speaker 5: It's just a game.
- 11:52Speaker 3: We would have if we die, We died. Why are
- 11:54Speaker 3: we taking so serious? That's that's that's me. Soon if
- 12:01Speaker 3: Michigan can't figure.
- 12:02Speaker 5: It out, you're one or two more no's away from him.
- 12:05Speaker 3: And if I could just go back in time and
- 12:08Speaker 3: talk to somebody that's making a decision, be like, just
- 12:10Speaker 3: call Kenny right now and offer him the job. Because
- 12:12Speaker 3: him being a press conference saying they never offered me
- 12:15Speaker 3: the job. We knew that, but why not?
- 12:19Speaker 5: Yeah, that was what was funny.
- 12:20Speaker 2: The whole time he was playing everybody.
- 12:22Speaker 5: I don't do you know why? I don't think he
- 12:24Speaker 5: want to address that. My eyes or watering. Well. So
- 12:27Speaker 5: a lot of people are saying what you just said.
- 12:30Speaker 4: A lot of people think, oh, man, Kenny and his
- 12:32Speaker 4: agent just played Michigan.
- 12:34Speaker 5: No they didn't.
- 12:35Speaker 4: We were like you, now that this is over, you
- 12:38Speaker 4: talk with Kenny several times throughout this, did you not?
- 12:40Speaker 2: Yes?
- 12:40Speaker 4: I talked with Kenny Dillingham like five or six times
- 12:42Speaker 4: throughout this. I know Kenny's agent very well. When most
- 12:46Speaker 4: people were speculating that they already had an offer and
- 12:50Speaker 4: they were negotiating with Michigan, he had never even talked
- 12:52Speaker 4: to him.
- 12:53Speaker 5: And I don't mean that.
- 12:54Speaker 4: Thing where your agent is talking so you can have
- 12:56Speaker 4: plausible deniability. I mean, there was nothing in front of him.
- 12:59Speaker 4: They really were waiting for Kaylin de Boor and Kenny's
- 13:02Speaker 4: just like hanging out there in multiple press conferences at
- 13:05Speaker 4: Arizona State saying yeah, I haven't talked to Michigan. This
- 13:08Speaker 4: because he hadn't talked to Michigan, he had no idea.
- 13:10Speaker 4: You assume the offer is gonna come. You don't know
- 13:12Speaker 4: if the offer is gonna come or not, just because
- 13:14Speaker 4: the Internet says so, you don't know if the offer's
- 13:16Speaker 4: gonna come. So no one played anybody. He was brutally
- 13:20Speaker 4: honest this whole time. That's why last week on the show,
- 13:23Speaker 4: I said, hey, I don't think just if he gets
- 13:25Speaker 4: the offer, it's a slam dunk that he's going to
- 13:27Speaker 4: take agree because he actually is truthful when he says
- 13:29Speaker 4: I love Arizona State. Now, if you're if you're living
- 13:32Speaker 4: in Missoula, Montana, and you say, hey, if you could
- 13:35Speaker 4: add the Arizona State job or the Michigan job, which
- 13:37Speaker 4: would you take. Well, that guy's taking Michigan. But that
- 13:39Speaker 4: guy's not Kenny Dillingham. So it was always going to
- 13:42Speaker 4: be a tough pull in the best of circumstances, and
- 13:44Speaker 4: Michigan search is not being handled in the best of
- 13:47Speaker 4: ways right now.
- 13:48Speaker 3: No, it feels that way. We could get a week
- 13:50Speaker 3: down the road, it could completely change, but it seems
- 13:52Speaker 3: like to me the deadline has kind of is we're
- 13:56Speaker 3: at or starting to pass the deadlines where these kids
- 13:58Speaker 3: are going to get impatient. Yeah, because they've done a
- 14:00Speaker 3: great job of staying in. I think we've had two
- 14:03Speaker 3: guys transfer out, both guys you hope for the best
- 14:06Speaker 3: for them. And when these kids do leave a lot
- 14:08Speaker 3: of Michigan fans are going to be mad. But how
- 14:10Speaker 3: can you blame them if they leave and there's no
- 14:13Speaker 3: structure or nothing around them to where they go. I
- 14:15Speaker 3: feel confident about the growth of my football career hoping
- 14:18Speaker 3: to meet to the NFL. That's the shitty part. You
- 14:22Speaker 3: sit there and you just go name a guy, and
- 14:24Speaker 3: the name you have right now is Biff and you
- 14:26Speaker 3: can get all the answers you want, and twenty six
- 14:29Speaker 3: and just hope a lot of these kids that say
- 14:31Speaker 3: they love Biff, that want Biff, Like Marlon Klein is
- 14:34Speaker 3: the was a captain this year, tight end. He said
- 14:38Speaker 3: to the press, I want Biff PODi to have be
- 14:40Speaker 3: the head coach of Michigan. So if a captain's saying that,
- 14:42Speaker 3: and guys are aligned and it feels like dudes are
- 14:44Speaker 3: knocking at the door of the ad saying, Biff, we're leaving,
- 14:48Speaker 3: then call them on their bluff. Hire Biff. They're probably
- 14:52Speaker 3: going to leave. But at the end of the day, man,
- 14:55Speaker 3: it's like you can't expect them all to stay anyway.
- 14:57Speaker 3: It's twenty twenty six, new one. IL find your guy
- 15:01Speaker 3: in twenty six. Don't force it right now because it's
- 15:03Speaker 3: too late.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Do you want Biff?
- 15:06Speaker 3: My call would be Biff if I mean, I think
- 15:09Speaker 3: if like Kyle Woodingham.
- 15:10Speaker 5: But he asked, He didn't ask who your call would be.
- 15:12Speaker 5: He asked, if do you want Biff.
- 15:14Speaker 3: The way it feels right now, I think the only
- 15:16Speaker 3: answer is bet.
- 15:17Speaker 5: But he didn't ask what the only answer is? Do
- 15:20Speaker 5: you want Biff?
- 15:21Speaker 2: Pogi.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I want Biff Pog for twenty six. I don't think.
- 15:27Speaker 3: I think Biff is not the long term answer at Michigan.
- 15:30Speaker 2: So you want a short term Do you want a
- 15:31Speaker 2: short term guy?
- 15:32Speaker 3: I think you go into an interim head coach situation.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Gary Muller, similar situation in Michigan gets fired. Who takes
- 15:36Speaker 3: over his intern head coach for a year, Lloyd Carr.
- 15:38Speaker 3: Lloyd Carr was there for ten years.
- 15:40Speaker 5: But that's not the game plan.
- 15:42Speaker 3: Probably a different situation most likely, but it's the closest
- 15:45Speaker 3: one I can give you right now, right like I'm
- 15:49Speaker 3: look at the situation in Michigan. I'm pulling at straws
- 15:51Speaker 3: right now.
- 15:52Speaker 5: When you can rent.
- 15:53Speaker 3: I'm just sitting in the batter's box, and.
- 15:54Speaker 5: I'm exactly why live when you can squat.
- 15:58Speaker 3: Exactly? Go blue, Go yeah, go blue, Don't blue anyway, man.

- 16:29Speaker 1: form energy guy.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Form energy. We do the work. Back to the episode
- 16:34Speaker 2: colleg Football Playoff, we just said the first round.
- 16:36Speaker 5: Hey, Merry Christmas, Mary, Christmas, Mary, Chris, Merry Christmas.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Guys, this is awesome.
- 16:42Speaker 5: Just a game I'm gonna have.
- 16:43Speaker 2: That's just the game. Just talk about the games that
- 16:45Speaker 2: epen of the weekend.
- 16:47Speaker 3: Oklahoma.
- 16:50Speaker 5: Tell me about Oklahoma.
- 16:51Speaker 3: I will say this about my expaniense in Oklahoma, I
- 16:54Speaker 3: probably won't be going back for a while. That being said,
- 16:57Speaker 3: I thought the people in Worklahoma were great. I thought
- 16:59Speaker 3: the coach staff was amazing. I thought the beat reporters
- 17:02Speaker 3: were awesome. Everybody on the sideline I talked to was great.
- 17:06Speaker 3: But there was one situation. I'm just like, I'll probably
- 17:08Speaker 3: won't go back there for a minute. I'll let it breathe.
- 17:11Speaker 3: And that's what it is, because it's not that I'm
- 17:13Speaker 3: sure the players are great. Gay by Kert, great guy,
- 17:16Speaker 3: played with him. He's a big He's big in Oklahoma.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Probably won't go back. Environment was awesome. Cannot believe they
- 17:21Speaker 3: blew a seventeen ol laite. I can't believe, especially with
- 17:24Speaker 3: their defense, with their defense clump Ty Simpson. Though he
- 17:29Speaker 3: got it back, He got it back tight, and he
- 17:32Speaker 3: got it back between the years.
- 17:33Speaker 4: It's really got to make you Tube feel kind of
- 17:35Speaker 4: dumb that you doubted him, you picked against him, and
- 17:39Speaker 4: you got called. It's got to make the two of
- 17:41Speaker 4: you specifically really look in the mirror and ask, how
- 17:45Speaker 4: did I doubt Ty Simpson?
- 17:47Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's how you said.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Then I look back in the mirror and I say, Kurt,
- 17:51Speaker 1: big Netty, you will You're right on doubting them.
- 17:58Speaker 2: They Oklahoma just choked the game. They blew it.
- 18:01Speaker 3: This is not gonna say we were right. Oklahoma just
- 18:04Speaker 3: got it wrong.
- 18:04Speaker 5: They screwed it up.
- 18:05Speaker 3: They screwed it up, They screwed up.
- 18:07Speaker 5: Welcome to my world.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Big fan of Tie, love him, obviously loved killing seriously,
- 18:12Speaker 3: but they fucked up. Oklahoma messed up bad. Yeah, I
- 18:17Speaker 3: got I got nothing but love for Tye. But no
- 18:19Speaker 3: one's gonna sit there and tell me that this is
- 18:22Speaker 3: the plan.
- 18:22Speaker 1: You win the national title with r if you're two
- 18:24Speaker 1: for twelve and third down you average one point one
- 18:26Speaker 1: yards per rush. The punter he just drops the ball.
- 18:30Speaker 1: He drops the ball, did you see Yeah, he drops
- 18:33Speaker 1: the ball, and then John Matier he can talk about miscommunication. Receiver,
- 18:37Speaker 1: you want you gifted a Christmas gift to the corner.
- 18:40Speaker 2: He was taking it to the house, no matter what
- 18:42Speaker 2: the route was.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Well, I would say if it was a quick button hook,
- 18:45Speaker 4: which I'm pretty sure he hand signaled to him and
- 18:47Speaker 4: he picked up on it, it wouldn't have gone to
- 18:49Speaker 4: the house because it would have had to go through
- 18:50Speaker 4: the receiver's body before to the house.
- 18:53Speaker 2: I think that Sona was sitting inside. All he was
- 18:55Speaker 2: doing is sitting in there reading the Quarterbacks Cover two.
- 18:58Speaker 5: Yeah, but I still think. So you go back watch
- 19:00Speaker 5: TV copy, which I assume both of you have.
- 19:02Speaker 4: He looks out there, whatever in the world this means
- 19:04Speaker 4: for Oklahoma, he gives it to him. I think he
- 19:07Speaker 4: got a head nod from the receiver, but I'm not
- 19:09Speaker 4: sure whatever he told that dude to do, I'm pretty
- 19:13Speaker 4: sure he blindly trusted that he was going to do
- 19:15Speaker 4: and that kid didn't do it. You're just look, I'm
- 19:17Speaker 4: someone who held a Jammeteer Heisman ticket. I've got a
- 19:21Speaker 4: dog in the fight here, not anymore, but I did
- 19:23Speaker 4: have a dog in the fight. I am not gonna
- 19:25Speaker 4: believe that John Matier took that ball. Said no receiver
- 19:27Speaker 4: over there, Saban Brown was good enough. I'm not gonna
- 19:31Speaker 4: believe he did that. If he throws an errant ball
- 19:34Speaker 4: over the middle or something like that. Okay, Now, he
- 19:36Speaker 4: could not have hit a dB in the chest any
- 19:39Speaker 4: more effectively than he did with that ball. So I'm
- 19:41Speaker 4: gonna say miscommunication.
- 19:42Speaker 3: Oh for sure, miscommunication.
- 19:43Speaker 4: But I just want to ball use But I'm going
- 19:46Speaker 4: to say it's all on the receiver. I just don't
- 19:48Speaker 4: want John Matier to get any of the blank.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Okay, hey, if that's how you want to live, absolutely,
- 19:53Speaker 3: Team Sport eleven guys got to be in the same page.
- 19:58Speaker 4: He was great on third down in the first half.
- 20:00Speaker 4: I thought that was going to end up being the
- 20:01Speaker 4: stat of the game.
- 20:02Speaker 3: Well, you said it's.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Funny because the stat sheet was basically flipped from the
- 20:05Speaker 1: last game.
- 20:07Speaker 2: It was not like as bad as Alabama kind of
- 20:09Speaker 2: had him in the last game.
- 20:10Speaker 3: But the turnover margin all that stuff.
- 20:12Speaker 4: Think about the first quarter and change of this game.
- 20:16Speaker 4: It was like the fifth quarter of the SEC Championship game,
- 20:19Speaker 4: how lifeless Alabama looked, how bad the feel was getting
- 20:22Speaker 4: tilted on them, average starting field position, all that stuff
- 20:25Speaker 4: that we talked about after Obama Georgia and to an
- 20:27Speaker 4: extent Bama OU Round one was the first quarter of
- 20:30Speaker 4: this game. Okay, So like I'm joking around a little
- 20:33Speaker 4: bit about tie. But after the game, I'm on the
- 20:36Speaker 4: field and some of the BAMA coaches they're kind of
- 20:38Speaker 4: messing around, but like they're saying, man, you doubted us,
- 20:40Speaker 4: You doubted us? Dude, Yes, I doubted you in this game.
- 20:44Speaker 4: I doubted you down seventeen you. Oh in the world,
- 20:46Speaker 4: wasn't doubting you?
- 20:46Speaker 2: And I doubt you.
- 20:48Speaker 5: It's not like, okay, I don't want to go that
- 20:49Speaker 5: part yet, I still doubt you.
- 20:52Speaker 4: It's not personal game. It's not personal. It's definitely not personal.
- 20:56Speaker 4: It has nothing to do with Alabama. I'm just gonna
- 20:58Speaker 4: come out of my chair when I yelled its nothing
- 21:00Speaker 4: to do with Alabama.
- 21:01Speaker 3: But this is entertainment, entertainment, right and after it's just
- 21:05Speaker 3: it's really.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Just the game.
- 21:06Speaker 2: It's just a game. The game is just the game.
- 21:08Speaker 4: But this thing people do sometimes when you've given them
- 21:10Speaker 4: every reason to feel a way, and then you feel
- 21:13Speaker 4: that way, and then they act differently than the way
- 21:15Speaker 4: that made you feel how you originally felt, and they're like,
- 21:17Speaker 4: you had the audacity to.
- 21:18Speaker 5: Feel that way.
- 21:19Speaker 4: Yes, and I'm gonna tell you why. Because you were
- 21:23Speaker 4: terrible in Atlanta last time. I saw you, highly ineffective.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Some people didn't even think you should be in the playoff.
- 21:31Speaker 4: I defended you. I went to bat for you, and
- 21:33Speaker 4: you're giving them all the ammunition that he'll ever need,
- 21:36Speaker 4: Slash Day will ever need. So yeah, I think there
- 21:39Speaker 4: was a little bit of reason to doubt Alabama. They overcame. Okay,
- 21:42Speaker 4: now they get to go against Indiana, and that's a
- 21:44Speaker 4: game we're gonna cover post Christmas.
- 21:46Speaker 5: But that one we.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Got, we got Miami Ohio State, we got Oregon Texas Tech.
- 21:52Speaker 4: That's the big tense chance to flex and just knock
- 21:54Speaker 4: everything on its on its ear.
- 21:56Speaker 1: And Indiana can run the football. Indiana's got Fernando Mendoza
- 21:59Speaker 1: and we talked to But the drop punt. You saw
- 22:01Speaker 1: the drop punt.
- 22:01Speaker 3: Yeah, before that drop punt, he just dropped it.
- 22:04Speaker 2: He just dropped He literally just.
- 22:06Speaker 3: Dropped the ball.
- 22:07Speaker 1: He dropped it well before that on that third and
- 22:10Speaker 1: three where Manteria kind of makes it happen. He's got
- 22:13Speaker 1: old buddy down the field, he just drops the ball.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Yeah like that right there would have been twenty four
- 22:17Speaker 1: to seven.
- 22:18Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 22:20Speaker 3: And Alabama, like their defense is pretty clear now what
- 22:23Speaker 3: they want to do is they want to play zone
- 22:24Speaker 3: and back up and not give up X plays And
- 22:26Speaker 3: they're like, hey, well as you just pick us a
- 22:28Speaker 3: part up and down the field. Who can do that?
- 22:31Speaker 3: Indiana all day long. That's what they can do. A
- 22:34Speaker 3: very nice way, in a very nice way, and the
- 22:37Speaker 3: most robotic computer way you could possibly ask for.
- 22:40Speaker 1: Yeah, they're gonna have to find some more like offensive
- 22:43Speaker 1: just production because again, you look at him in the
- 22:45Speaker 1: first part of the year until essentially what like November
- 22:47Speaker 1: mid whenever they started to play South Carolina, like Alabama's
- 22:50Speaker 1: offense and you go and if you look at box
- 22:53Speaker 1: scores and everything else, like they're averaging well over like
- 22:56Speaker 1: twenty first downs per game, and that kind of just
- 22:59Speaker 1: goes away. Like when you look at their body of
- 23:01Speaker 1: work at the late part of the year, which is
- 23:02Speaker 1: where all the doubt crept in. Is something wrong with
- 23:04Speaker 1: Tie is something going on with the offense. They can
- 23:06Speaker 1: never really run the football, but they're only averaging around.
- 23:08Speaker 1: It's like south to fifteen, like south to fifteen first down,
- 23:11Speaker 1: So where they're just they haven't had a whole lot
- 23:13Speaker 1: of production. You're kind of hanging on explosive plays. Like
- 23:16Speaker 1: they scored thirty four points in that game, and you
- 23:18Speaker 1: look everywhere else, whether it's on the box score, everywhere,
- 23:21Speaker 1: I can't believe that there was what was the total
- 23:24Speaker 1: in that game or fifteen and a half. Yeah, but
- 23:27Speaker 1: they had the both teams combined scored like what over
- 23:30Speaker 1: sixty point fifty eight points? Yeah, yeah, fifty eight points.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And I'm just it did not feel like a game
- 23:35Speaker 1: where both teams where you just generate fifty eight points.
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah. No, it was just explosive plays and then miss
- 23:41Speaker 3: cues on whoever's fault it was. We're gonna for this show,
- 23:44Speaker 3: We'll say it was the wide receivers, the punter, like
- 23:47Speaker 3: just crazy stuff.
- 23:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:50Speaker 4: But if you take if you take so that the
- 23:52Speaker 4: pick six, that's a defensive score, just take it off
- 23:54Speaker 4: the board. Take the three points they got from the
- 23:57Speaker 4: muff punt or muffed handling of the punt off the board.
- 24:00Speaker 4: Even if you shave ten points off that still forty
- 24:02Speaker 4: eight points. It didn't even feel like a game where
- 24:04Speaker 4: forty eight got scored, right, It's pretty crazy.
- 24:07Speaker 1: And you had a couple missed field goals there at
- 24:08Speaker 1: the end too, which I know that Buddy was in
- 24:10Speaker 1: hell mentally missing those field goals.
- 24:12Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he had to be dying. What was your
- 24:15Speaker 3: thought on the Miami Texa and m game?
- 24:17Speaker 2: Pretty boring.
- 24:18Speaker 5: It was what I thought Bama OU was going to be.
- 24:20Speaker 4: Yeah, it was extremely windy there. It was more windy
- 24:26Speaker 4: than the night before. I think once Miami realized we're
- 24:29Speaker 4: sort of sinking in our teeth a little bit and
- 24:32Speaker 4: Marcel Rea's not running the ball on us, which mobile
- 24:35Speaker 4: quarterbacks don't against Miami. Once they realized that, it was like,
- 24:39Speaker 4: we're not gonna let Carson Beack lose the game, is
- 24:42Speaker 4: how I felt they handled it.
- 24:43Speaker 5: Fletcher. You know, they got a four quarter approach.
- 24:46Speaker 4: They think that they can bust the game open, and
- 24:47Speaker 4: the fourth quarter on the ground they did, so they
- 24:50Speaker 4: were able to stick to that. But they were able
- 24:51Speaker 4: to stick to that cause defense allowed them to. And
- 24:53Speaker 4: so I'm sitting there the entire time thinking, Okay, rewind
- 24:57Speaker 4: one year ago. Miami's having to score four every game
- 25:00Speaker 4: with cam Ward doing it basically on his own, so
- 25:03Speaker 4: they have a shot to win because defensively they're just atrocious.
- 25:06Speaker 4: And they made a personnel change and went and got
- 25:09Speaker 4: a new defensive coordinator, Corey Heathman out of Minnesota. They
- 25:12Speaker 4: made a huge deal about it internally, probably went under
- 25:15Speaker 4: the radar a little bit nationally. Well, now look at
- 25:18Speaker 4: them and look at the ability. Imagine me telling you
- 25:20Speaker 4: a year ago Miami a year from now is gonna
- 25:22Speaker 4: lose cam Ward. I'm not even gonna tell you who
- 25:24Speaker 4: they're going to get a quarterback. They're just gonna portle
- 25:26Speaker 4: in a guy, but there's no way he's going to
- 25:28Speaker 4: be as good as cam Ward. So you're thinking downgrade there.
- 25:31Speaker 4: Then you're I'm gonna tell you they're going to go
- 25:33Speaker 4: on the road in.
- 25:34Speaker 5: A playoff game. So they are going to make the playoff.
- 25:36Speaker 5: That's great.
- 25:37Speaker 4: They're gonna go on the road, They're going to score
- 25:39Speaker 4: ten and that's going to be good enough to win
- 25:41Speaker 4: a game.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Would have sounded insane, yep, and yet they did it.
- 25:45Speaker 2: You bring a great points too, like, imagine if this
- 25:47Speaker 2: Miami team had cam Ward on it.
- 25:48Speaker 5: Yep.
- 25:50Speaker 4: Yes, imagine cam warden a fraction of this defense last year.
- 25:53Speaker 3: Yeah, they're in it, and they're probably they have a
- 25:55Speaker 3: good chance to win it.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Actually, outside of just the missfield goals that was that
- 25:59Speaker 1: was brutal kid man.
- 26:00Speaker 3: I felt so bad for him, but.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I was actually enjoying watching the defensive battle. I mean
- 26:04Speaker 1: Miami and Hm too, but just flying around with their
- 26:06Speaker 1: hair on fire, tight windows. I'm thinking, who, which quarterback
- 26:10Speaker 1: is gonna like step up in the spotlight and really,
- 26:13Speaker 1: you know, neither of you really leaning in the first half.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Marcel Reid's gonna be the one to kind of like
- 26:18Speaker 3: step up and finish, just get a deep shot down
- 26:20Speaker 3: like he did a play action, scrambled around a little bit,
- 26:22Speaker 3: had a guy wide open, and the left side of
- 26:25Speaker 3: the field got that and they stalled out end up
- 26:27Speaker 3: getting nothing on that. It kind of felt like, if
- 26:30Speaker 3: there's a quarterback that's going to win you the game,
- 26:32Speaker 3: it felt like Marcel Reid and moving Carson back throughout it.
- 26:35Speaker 1: Yeah, and there's gonna be plays that. I know Marcel
- 26:37Speaker 1: Read's watching world just like timing and rhythm. He's gonna
- 26:39Speaker 1: want plays back where I feel like when you're going
- 26:42Speaker 1: against Ohio State, Julian will thrive more in some many situation.
- 26:45Speaker 1: So I'm excited to kind of watch the Miami defense
- 26:47Speaker 1: against the Ohio State offense.
- 26:49Speaker 5: There's one more thing that's happened right now. Landing's dealing
- 26:51Speaker 5: with it. Elcho dealt with it.
- 26:52Speaker 4: It's this thing with the abnormal hiring cycle where your
- 26:56Speaker 4: staff gets new jobs, but then they're still coaching through
- 27:00Speaker 4: the playoffs.
- 27:02Speaker 5: So Elko is losing both of his coordinators.
- 27:05Speaker 4: Colin Klein took the Kansas State job like he's going
- 27:07Speaker 4: to be a head coach, Well, he's still your offensive coordinator.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Bateman is leaving as well. So I was talking to
- 27:13Speaker 4: some folks about the dynamics that that creates in a building,
- 27:16Speaker 4: And on one hand, it's really really weird for prep
- 27:18Speaker 4: because on one hand, you're very happy that your guys
- 27:21Speaker 4: are getting opportunities, but job's not finished, so your most
- 27:24Speaker 4: important games are coming up, and the attention span is
- 27:27Speaker 4: fragmented from your theoretically your second third most important guys
- 27:32Speaker 4: in your staff. But also here's where Rubbern really meets
- 27:34Speaker 4: the road. If I'm head coach here and you're my
- 27:37Speaker 4: OC and you're my DC, you're getting looks because we're winning. Probably,
- 27:42Speaker 4: so then you get hired as a head coach. And
- 27:43Speaker 4: you get hired as a head coach. But the way
- 27:45Speaker 4: it works is you don't just leave and say bye.
- 27:48Speaker 4: You leave and you got to put a staff together,
- 27:50Speaker 4: And the first instinct you have is to look right
- 27:53Speaker 4: back in my building. Yep, because I've got a building
- 27:56Speaker 4: full of top level people in nutrition, strength, to condition,
- 28:00Speaker 4: your your own support staff, like, whatever the case may be.
- 28:02Speaker 4: So I go from wishing you well, congratulate you. I
- 28:06Speaker 4: may have even recommended you for the job too. I
- 28:08Speaker 4: don't want you taking my staffers, and so I'm fighting
- 28:11Speaker 4: against you and against you to keep people in my
- 28:14Speaker 4: building who you only got an opportunity to work around
- 28:18Speaker 4: because I gave you an opportunity and you did your job.
- 28:21Speaker 5: So we're even there.
- 28:23Speaker 4: Imagine sitting in a staff room where we're having to
- 28:26Speaker 4: work together to put together game plan to try and
- 28:28Speaker 4: get ready to go win a game, hopefully multiple games,
- 28:31Speaker 4: and I'm also competing against you kind of to keep staffers.
- 28:35Speaker 5: Yeah that's not an easy dynasic.
- 28:36Speaker 2: All happened quietly too. Yeah it gets allowed.
- 28:38Speaker 1: Then there's an argument, Yeah, yeah, throws everything football Like NFL,
- 28:42Speaker 1: if a coach gets hired and he's trying to bring
- 28:45Speaker 1: guys on, coaches for other teams can block guys leaving
- 28:49Speaker 1: unless it's like a pay raise or not a pay raise,
- 28:51Speaker 1: but like you get elevated as far.
- 28:52Speaker 3: As your role goes.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Great question, like they can't make a lateral move.
- 28:55Speaker 3: They can't make a lateral move, but there's multiple time
- 28:57Speaker 3: like a love floor. When he left, I know Vrabel
- 28:59Speaker 3: blocked the people from leaving because like, hey, I want
- 29:01Speaker 3: you guys here, and you're taking a lateral move, so
- 29:03Speaker 3: he would keep those guys in the building.
- 29:05Speaker 5: This will shock you. None of that exists in college.
- 29:08Speaker 3: Oh man, Yeah, football is the best right now. I'm
- 29:12Speaker 3: getting fucked up my family, my school is getting by
- 29:15Speaker 3: the front of it right now. But it is awesome.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Yeah, that would be tough because again, if if you're
- 29:21Speaker 1: the head coach in the situation, you're doing everything you
- 29:24Speaker 1: can to pour into the situation that be, which is, hey,
- 29:27Speaker 1: we gotta we want to win the national title.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Win the coach will playoff.
- 29:30Speaker 1: Then whenever I know in my brain if all of
- 29:33Speaker 1: my prep and all my stuff gets done, once I
- 29:35Speaker 1: get moments of time where I feel like I would
- 29:38Speaker 1: be finding whatever the creative ways are, whatever you're obsessing
- 29:41Speaker 1: about within the team. Now that I'm going to be
- 29:43Speaker 1: a head coach, I feel like all that free time
- 29:45Speaker 1: now would be going into whether it be the relationships
- 29:48Speaker 1: inside the building, hitting people up outside, like hey, what's
- 29:50Speaker 1: your situation going on with this school? Like I'd be
- 29:52Speaker 1: putting more toward into what my future is going to
- 29:54Speaker 1: be at my next school, because now I'm about to
- 29:56Speaker 1: take my first head coaching job.
- 29:57Speaker 3: And if coaches the you know this in the building,
- 30:00Speaker 3: like what is our actual chances of winning a national championship?
- 30:03Speaker 3: Like I'm sure there was a like a Texas A
- 30:06Speaker 3: and M saw where their flaws were and then saw
- 30:08Speaker 3: the road and realize our flaws don't match up. I
- 30:11Speaker 3: can't be hidden through these future teams. So once you
- 30:14Speaker 3: can make that decision, you're as an OC or DCU.
- 30:16Speaker 3: Now as a head coaching job, it's even more of
- 30:18Speaker 3: a reason to going, Hey, let me focus on what
- 30:20Speaker 3: I got going on here, So maybe I could be
- 30:22Speaker 3: the head coach here someday or somewhere else.
- 30:24Speaker 4: And the important thing to remember now that we go
- 30:25Speaker 4: into quartifying around is Dan Lanning's dealing with us.
- 30:28Speaker 5: He's losing both coordinators.
- 30:30Speaker 4: So keep that in mind as you start to think
- 30:33Speaker 4: about the Orange Bowl.
- 30:35Speaker 5: How do I think they match up with Texas Tech?
- 30:36Speaker 5: Well that other factors in the room.
- 30:38Speaker 4: I know, no way you can quantify that because it
- 30:40Speaker 4: probably works different program to program, case by case, So
- 30:44Speaker 4: you just never know culture by culture.
- 30:46Speaker 1: And we're I know, Tash is going to cow where's
- 30:48Speaker 1: the OC going Kentucky head coach of Kentucky. Yeah, it's like,
- 30:53Speaker 1: unless you're going to I feel like I'm kind of
- 30:56Speaker 1: zooming out. Unless you're going to like an SEC or
- 30:59Speaker 1: Big ten, a really good job where you feel like
- 31:01Speaker 1: there's gonna be a lot more resource help to where
- 31:03Speaker 1: people can kind of do some of these things, some
- 31:05Speaker 1: of these responsibilities that you deem as a priority and
- 31:08Speaker 1: you got people that can handle it. If you're going
- 31:09Speaker 1: to like an ACC or a Big twelve school to
- 31:11Speaker 1: where I feel like there's gonna be more urgency there
- 31:14Speaker 1: for you to have more responsibility because you don't have
- 31:17Speaker 1: all the same resources and backing that like the Big ten,
- 31:19Speaker 1: some of these prominent Big ten and SEC schools have.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Yeah, what we interup ace episode to bring you True Classics,
- 31:27Speaker 3: specifically the True Classic Pima T shirts. They got that
- 31:29Speaker 3: little curve on the side, grab the shoulders, grab the
- 31:32Speaker 3: chest a little bit. Your boy hasn't been in a
- 31:34Speaker 3: weight room and god knows how long. But when I
- 31:36Speaker 3: put that T shirt on, I think to myself, you
- 31:37Speaker 3: know what, maybe you go be all right? After all.
- 31:39Speaker 3: You can find Truelassic at Amazon and Costco, SAMs Club
- 31:42Speaker 3: and Target nationwide online at True classic dot com for
- 31:44Speaker 3: its last busin look good, Feel Good, Play good? Would
- 31:48Speaker 3: you guys make a few other two games? I just
- 31:50Speaker 3: all I did was look at the app. I learned
- 31:53Speaker 3: that through the show you can just go on the
- 31:54Speaker 3: opposite of googling the scores. I put out my little
- 31:58Speaker 3: goat Jurassic Part A post photo all contexts and just
- 32:02Speaker 3: waited for the scores to run. Seemed like Tulane got
- 32:05Speaker 3: a whole lot better. They lost forty one to ten
- 32:07Speaker 3: as opposed to forty five to ten, so a four
- 32:10Speaker 3: point swing from the last time they played, and Oregon
- 32:12Speaker 3: they refused to cover ahead. Jamil let him get back
- 32:15Speaker 3: into was.
- 32:16Speaker 4: That you could really tell who did and didn't watch
- 32:18Speaker 4: that game by the amount of people who said Oregon
- 32:21Speaker 4: didn't even cover bro. Yeah, they gave up thirty four.
- 32:24Speaker 4: They gave him five hundred yards of offense. And I said, well,
- 32:27Speaker 4: the University of Oregon logo gave up thirty four. The
- 32:32Speaker 4: guys on the field in the second half were very,
- 32:34Speaker 4: very clean Jersey unfamiliar names because they rolled out their
- 32:38Speaker 4: twos and threes in the second half, because you are
- 32:40Speaker 4: so inferior. They treated the second half as like an
- 32:44Speaker 4: FCS tune up game. Yeah, they treated it like the
- 32:47Speaker 4: last preseason, like a preseason game before these guys got
- 32:50Speaker 4: for next year. Yeah, so all due respect, five possession
- 32:54Speaker 4: lead in the first half was the big takeaway. It's
- 32:56Speaker 4: thirty four to three before the half, right, Yeah, that's
- 32:59Speaker 4: the takeaway.
- 33:00Speaker 3: Yeah, and your two's score sixteen more points. So is
- 33:05Speaker 3: it time that we now just move on from G Five's?
- 33:08Speaker 3: What are we changing the structure in college football? Does
- 33:10Speaker 3: something actually change going in next year?
- 33:12Speaker 2: I think something's got it, something's gotta change. There's been
- 33:14Speaker 2: so much.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Chaos that year that I feel like the structure, I
- 33:18Speaker 1: like to hope to believe like there's gonna be some.
- 33:19Speaker 2: Type of movement.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Yeah, some type of restructuring, some type of figuring. Out
- 33:23Speaker 1: a different process because nobody wants to see those games. No,
- 33:27Speaker 1: you know what I mean, Like, hey, in this structure,
- 33:28Speaker 1: they deserve that they got in. They were their conference
- 33:30Speaker 1: championships were right, they were ranked higher than the ACCS once.
- 33:34Speaker 1: So you know Duke or yeah, Duke doesn't get in.
- 33:36Speaker 3: Yeah. So we were saying, is based on the structure
- 33:38Speaker 3: of the collegewable playoff of the teams that I got
- 33:39Speaker 3: in and should have been in.
- 33:40Speaker 4: The playoff based on the current rules, Yeah, as they exist.
- 33:45Speaker 4: Those two teams should have gotten in based on the
- 33:47Speaker 4: rules as they exist. Question is do we change the rules?
- 33:51Speaker 2: Do I agree with what what he just said?
- 33:53Speaker 5: Well, there's no arguing it.
- 33:54Speaker 1: It's just fact that the G five teams got in
- 33:56Speaker 1: because of the current structure.
- 33:57Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm not about the structure of college football. The
- 33:59Speaker 3: team they got in our we're supposed to get in.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Are you walking me in the summ No, I'm just
- 34:04Speaker 3: asking you if you agree with that or not.
- 34:06Speaker 2: Do I agree with the current structure?
- 34:07Speaker 3: No, the way the structure was that out the teams
- 34:10Speaker 3: that we're in were supposed to be because of the
- 34:12Speaker 3: current ructure. Now we need to change something. Yeah, I
- 34:14Speaker 3: mean it doesn't matter that we did welcome into something.
- 34:17Speaker 4: I know what you were doing. I didn't know what
- 34:19Speaker 4: you were doing at first, but you just made him
- 34:21Speaker 4: say roll Tide.
- 34:22Speaker 3: That's what you made. Miami should have been in Notre Dame.
- 34:27Speaker 3: We understand why they're out now. I don't agree with the.
- 34:30Speaker 5: Structure something, but you do want to blow the structure up.
- 34:33Speaker 5: YEA want to blow the structure up.
- 34:36Speaker 3: I think we've all been aligned. Are paths to getting
- 34:39Speaker 3: there were different, but we all believe that the College
- 34:41Speaker 3: Football Playoff needs to be different next year.
- 34:43Speaker 4: Most people think that. Most people believe that very few people.
- 34:46Speaker 4: If we strawhold America college football America, very few people
- 34:50Speaker 4: are saying I like it exactly how it is right now.
- 34:54Speaker 3: One of the biggest things that need to change is
- 34:56Speaker 3: the second round needs to be home home advantage.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Yeah, I would love to see that.
- 35:01Speaker 1: I would love to see Texas Tech having a home
- 35:04Speaker 1: game like the teams they got buys, the teams that
- 35:05Speaker 1: were one through four, like they get to have a
- 35:07Speaker 1: home game to come right.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Because what we saw last year, the team like Oregon
- 35:12Speaker 3: who had to buy, they were not prepared. They looked
- 35:14Speaker 3: a little rusty going into their game again by Ohio State, Like,
- 35:17Speaker 3: now we're gonna get a little tune up game against
- 35:19Speaker 3: JMU or missing his tune up game. Now they get
- 35:21Speaker 3: to go in a little more fresh versus these teams
- 35:23Speaker 3: that advice, and if it goes the same way it
- 35:25Speaker 3: went last year, it's like they're in a much better
- 35:27Speaker 3: position play more football.
- 35:29Speaker 4: To go back to your your thing about the G five,
- 35:32Speaker 4: like everyone's spoken their peace on it. Then the result
- 35:35Speaker 4: hits you in the face again the other day and
- 35:36Speaker 4: you got two blowout games. So I warned you last week.
- 35:40Speaker 4: I said, if these games are close, there's gonna be
- 35:42Speaker 4: a ton of bad faith argument out there. Well they
- 35:44Speaker 4: weren't close, so then this is my opinion, you got
- 35:48Speaker 4: more bad faith argument or maybe flawed argument on the
- 35:51Speaker 4: other side.
- 35:52Speaker 5: So I like both of you. Don't really love.
- 35:55Speaker 4: The idea of G five teams just being kind of
- 35:57Speaker 4: gifted a spot in the playoff doesn't make logical sense
- 36:00Speaker 4: to me, But I know why it does exist. An
- 36:02Speaker 4: antig five or anything like that. But I know why
- 36:04Speaker 4: it exists. But my take on it has never been
- 36:07Speaker 4: they're going to get blown out. That's why they don't
- 36:09Speaker 4: belong in. They happen to get blown out because they're
- 36:11Speaker 4: inferior teams. But whether it was a three point game
- 36:14Speaker 4: or a three hundred point game, I don't really care.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I just I talked to you about last week this
- 36:18Speaker 4: strength of schedule and how I think there's a certain
- 36:20Speaker 4: bar you should have to clear, and most G five
- 36:22Speaker 4: schedules do not allow you to do that. It's not
- 36:24Speaker 4: their fault. That's why I would love a G five playoff.
- 36:26Speaker 4: Probably what's shocked me the most about this whole era
- 36:30Speaker 4: is I thought G five fans would be on board
- 36:33Speaker 4: with the concept of a G five playoff if it
- 36:35Speaker 4: had like a full financial ambilical cord attached to it,
- 36:39Speaker 4: Because you say G five playoff, and the first thought is, oh,
- 36:42Speaker 4: you're choking us off of the big playoff, which means
- 36:44Speaker 4: we're going to die on the vine over here because
- 36:46Speaker 4: we don't have enough money to survive. No, I would
- 36:48Speaker 4: love to just pump money into that thing.
- 36:50Speaker 2: Yeah. They see it as everybody wanted to put them
- 36:53Speaker 2: at the kids there.
- 36:53Speaker 4: Yeah, which that is It's brutally honest, that is what
- 36:56Speaker 4: you're doing. The reality it is just a tier of
- 36:58Speaker 4: college football that's beneath the like. So I mean it's
- 37:01Speaker 4: so stupid to think Louisiana'm Monroe, Louisiana State played the
- 37:03Speaker 4: same sport.
- 37:04Speaker 5: They don't.
- 37:04Speaker 4: They play the same sport from a rules perspective, but
- 37:07Speaker 4: from a resource perspective, we're on opposite sides of the
- 37:10Speaker 4: Grand Canyon looking at each other. Yeah, okay, so I'm
- 37:15Speaker 4: always a G five playoff guy. But then I get
- 37:17Speaker 4: pushed back on that, so like, I'm okay, I don't.
- 37:20Speaker 4: It's not like I'm hard and fast on that. That's
- 37:22Speaker 4: just how I'd like to see it because it makes
- 37:23Speaker 4: sense to me. But if you're not agreeing on that,
- 37:27Speaker 4: what is your proposal? And I had a lot of
- 37:29Speaker 4: people say, all right, my proposal is G five teams
- 37:32Speaker 4: should only get in if they're ranked in the top twelve.
- 37:35Speaker 5: I'd be totally fine with that. I'd be totally fine
- 37:38Speaker 5: with that.
- 37:38Speaker 4: The question becomes, if you don't give them a guaranteed
- 37:41Speaker 4: seat at the table but there are automatic bids for
- 37:44Speaker 4: other conference champs, do you run the risk of a lawsuit?
- 37:48Speaker 4: And then the third thing that I started to see
- 37:50Speaker 4: some people broach this past weekend for the first time
- 37:52Speaker 4: is what if there is a lawsuit? What if you
- 37:55Speaker 4: just let them, take you to court, lose the battle,
- 37:58Speaker 4: pay the check, and then about it however you want
- 38:01Speaker 4: to anyway. So there are a lot of different thoughts
- 38:03Speaker 4: out there.
- 38:03Speaker 3: Yeah, and you're in your opinion what is the fastest
- 38:06Speaker 3: way or the best way to fix it. And it
- 38:08Speaker 3: has to be legally, it doesn't have to be legal.
- 38:12Speaker 4: You got to basically just decide whatever your structure is
- 38:16Speaker 4: going to be, twelve team, sixteen teams, whatever. I think
- 38:18Speaker 4: they're always going to have one spot. I think they're
- 38:20Speaker 4: always going to have one guaranteed spot at the table.
- 38:22Speaker 4: I assume that that's probably not going anywhere unless and
- 38:27Speaker 4: this is why I go to the G five playoff thing.
- 38:29Speaker 4: If you created a separate playoff and there was the
- 38:32Speaker 4: promise of a huge payday in that playoff, that's the
- 38:35Speaker 4: only thing that I theoretically believe could convince G five
- 38:39Speaker 4: presidents and athletic directors to look at it.
- 38:41Speaker 5: I don't know if they would do it.
- 38:42Speaker 4: But if you put out this not an idea, but
- 38:44Speaker 4: like a fully formed plan, here's the media partner, here
- 38:48Speaker 4: are the major advertisers. Here's the payoff, here's the subsidy.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Here's what you're gonna get if you're in it. Here's
- 38:53Speaker 4: what you're gonna get if you win it. Everyone's going
- 38:55Speaker 4: to get something. You're not gonna die on the vine
- 38:57Speaker 4: over here because you got detached from the main playoff.
- 39:00Speaker 4: Once the money part's taken care of, then you tell
- 39:03Speaker 4: JMU or Tu Lane you're gonna compete in a tournament
- 39:06Speaker 4: where you can actually win. Like right now, Jmu's goal
- 39:10Speaker 4: is get to the playoffs so I can get beheaded.
- 39:12Speaker 4: To Lane's goal, like they're north Star is we can
- 39:15Speaker 4: get into the playoff so we can get annihilated. So
- 39:18Speaker 4: it's never made sense to me, but g five folks,
- 39:20Speaker 4: many of them will look you straight in the eye
- 39:22Speaker 4: and say, Nope, would much rather have that than our
- 39:24Speaker 4: own separate tournament.
- 39:25Speaker 2: Yeah, even the level of separation too.
- 39:28Speaker 1: Like everybody on Jmu's roster or Tu Lane's roster, even
- 39:32Speaker 1: though they're going in to get beheaded in the Costwall playoffs.
- 39:34Speaker 1: Basically everybody's goal in that building is play well enough
- 39:39Speaker 1: to then get picked up by from somebody bigger.
- 39:41Speaker 5: You know what I mean.
- 39:41Speaker 1: It's like, hey, we got into the playoff this year,
- 39:44Speaker 1: can't wait for all of us to come back like
- 39:45Speaker 1: strengthen this if we get an il. We're coming back
- 39:48Speaker 1: JMU two lane, We're coming for blood next year. Yeah,
- 39:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Even if they were to win,
- 39:53Speaker 1: you know, they probably never win a game, but if
- 39:55Speaker 1: they won a game.
- 39:56Speaker 3: You can see them winning a game.
- 39:57Speaker 1: Let's just say they wont a game in a simulation,
- 40:00Speaker 1: then the mindset for everybody still on that team is
- 40:04Speaker 1: the exact same.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Can kill them out.
- 40:06Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, we're trying to level up.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Like every coach is trying to get a bigger job,
- 40:09Speaker 1: every player is trying to get plucked by somebody from
- 40:11Speaker 1: the P four.
- 40:12Speaker 4: Now Here's what the intellectually dishonest counter argument would be. Okay,
- 40:17Speaker 4: isn't every kid that may play for TCU trying to
- 40:20Speaker 4: do that for Texas?
- 40:21Speaker 5: Isn't every kid that plays.
- 40:23Speaker 4: At I don't know, like Arkansas trying to do that
- 40:29Speaker 4: for Alabama? Like people will say that the answer is yes.
- 40:33Speaker 4: The difference is you've got to at some point pool
- 40:37Speaker 4: teams based on some kind of comparability. The comparability is resource.
- 40:42Speaker 4: That's just like when people say, well, yeah JMU got
- 40:45Speaker 4: blown out against Oregon, but Tennessee got blown out against
- 40:48Speaker 4: Ohio State last year. Does that mean Tennessee doesn't belong
- 40:51Speaker 4: in the playoff, which is one reason I don't track
- 40:53Speaker 4: in that argument because they can get you on that. No,
- 40:55Speaker 4: it doesn't mean that. Because Tennessee has comparable resources to
- 40:59Speaker 4: Ohio State, they have athletes that can compete on the
- 41:02Speaker 4: field with Ohio State. Like, yes, they got blown out
- 41:04Speaker 4: in that game. The difference is if you play that
- 41:06Speaker 4: game one hundred times, there's some very competitive games. There's
- 41:09Speaker 4: some Tennessee wins in there, believe it or not. There
- 41:12Speaker 4: are no JMU wins over Oregon. And it's not because
- 41:16Speaker 4: you don't believe in them or think they should have
- 41:18Speaker 4: a shot. It's because there is a certain facet like
- 41:20Speaker 4: there's a certain level in football where it's a non starter.
- 41:25Speaker 4: Like it's I call it the freeze point. A lot
- 41:27Speaker 4: of times water if it's thirty three degrees or one
- 41:30Speaker 4: hundred and three degrees will not freeze. It has to
- 41:33Speaker 4: be thirty two point four or lower thirty two six,
- 41:36Speaker 4: whatever it is before it freezes. Those rosters don't meet
- 41:39Speaker 4: the freeze point, they don't even get close to meeting
- 41:41Speaker 4: the freeze point. And so like I just think that
- 41:44Speaker 4: if you're looking at an Arkansas Alabama versus a jmu Organ,
- 41:49Speaker 4: you're intellectually dishonest if you're making that argument, because even
- 41:51Speaker 4: if you're making the argument, you know, Arkansas Alabama versus
- 41:55Speaker 4: JMU Organ are totally different classifications of quote unquote separation.
- 42:01Speaker 4: You got to classify teams and group teams. At some point,
- 42:03Speaker 4: there's going to be a worst and a best in
- 42:06Speaker 4: any bubble. The difference is if the bubble's thirty teams
- 42:09Speaker 4: deep versus one hundred and thirty teams deep, that first
- 42:12Speaker 4: bubble makes a lot more sense to me.
- 42:15Speaker 5: Okay, which jacket does notre dame fall in?
- 42:18Speaker 2: Which tournament did they get in?
- 42:20Speaker 5: I would put them in the head bubble.
- 42:21Speaker 4: I would just make them earn their way in like
- 42:22Speaker 4: everyone else, which they didn't this last time.
- 42:26Speaker 5: But they got a new Uh we wrote a new
- 42:28Speaker 5: law for them right to get in. Yeah.
- 42:29Speaker 3: No, that's a great law. It's a great law.
- 42:33Speaker 5: It's interesting.
- 42:34Speaker 2: Okay, everybody that played.
- 42:37Speaker 3: Yeah, let's play the game where there's a G five.
- 42:39Speaker 3: There's a G five tournament every single year. Ye let's
- 42:42Speaker 3: say one school will just say JMU or two lane
- 42:46Speaker 3: win that tournament like five or eight out of ten.
- 42:49Speaker 4: Years, just like the FCS in North Dakota State.
- 42:51Speaker 3: Right, and they're just over and over, always crushing it.
- 42:54Speaker 3: And then you have like the lower SEC Big ten
- 42:57Speaker 3: schools that are constantly at the bottle over and over again.
- 43:01Speaker 3: Is there a.
- 43:02Speaker 5: Relegation promotion and relegation?
- 43:04Speaker 3: Is there is there a world that you would want
- 43:05Speaker 3: to live in?
- 43:06Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll tell you what else I would love to do.
- 43:08Speaker 4: I would love that to exist. I would also love
- 43:10Speaker 4: I think they do this in European soccer. I know
- 43:12Speaker 4: nothing about European soccer. They do promotion relegation. What they
- 43:15Speaker 4: also do is pay I forget what the term is.
- 43:18Speaker 5: But it's a fee.
- 43:19Speaker 4: Basically, if you're JMU and I'm Oregon and I take
- 43:23Speaker 4: five of your players, I am paying a penalty to
- 43:26Speaker 4: you to take those players from you, which I've always
- 43:28Speaker 4: thought should exist. Right now, it's a joke what P
- 43:32Speaker 4: four does to the G five, But it's also a
- 43:34Speaker 4: joke what the G five does to FCS. It's not
- 43:37Speaker 4: like this is a this is a one way street
- 43:38Speaker 4: here like the G five.
- 43:39Speaker 5: I was talking to a guy.
- 43:40Speaker 4: From Mercer the other day, which is just a FCS
- 43:43Speaker 4: school in Macon, Georgia, but they're pretty good.
- 43:45Speaker 5: They go play the.
- 43:46Speaker 4: Big boys every year, take their check, take their beating.
- 43:48Speaker 4: He laid out their roster and which players have been
- 43:52Speaker 4: poached and what they're being offered. And it's like Georgia
- 43:55Speaker 4: State came and got this kid, Troy came and got
- 43:57Speaker 4: these kids, UAB came and got these kids.
- 43:59Speaker 5: So the G five the same thing.
- 44:00Speaker 4: It's just much less talked about because no one cares
- 44:02Speaker 4: about the FCS relative to talking about P four G five.
- 44:06Speaker 4: I would love for there to be a restitution structure
- 44:09Speaker 4: anytime you're taking talent, because that's really what in the
- 44:13Speaker 4: long run, could reinvest in those programs and help them
- 44:17Speaker 4: level up to where eventually they're consistently good, they can
- 44:19Speaker 4: retain their players, and then if they're good enough, they
- 44:22Speaker 4: can be promoted up a level. And if you suck
- 44:25Speaker 4: at that upper level, you're not taking advantage of your resources.
- 44:27Speaker 4: You could fall down the ladder. Now I just said
- 44:29Speaker 4: that in like two minutes. That's very easy. You got
- 44:32Speaker 4: so many spider webs to untangle there with conference affiliation,
- 44:36Speaker 4: not to name the other few, to where yeah, it's
- 44:38Speaker 4: very difficult to make that a rule or make that
- 44:41Speaker 4: the new structure.
- 44:42Speaker 5: But we're just playing perfect Unicorn world here.
- 44:45Speaker 2: Right, Yeah, we got a blank we got a we
- 44:47Speaker 2: got a blank sheet. Yeah I want.
- 44:52Speaker 1: Yeah for me, it's just that everybody who loves college football,
- 44:56Speaker 1: the sport is becoming more and more popular every year.
- 44:58Speaker 2: A lot of people, Hey, it's my favorite sport to watch.
- 45:01Speaker 1: Just when you're looking at the playoffs, this is the
- 45:03Speaker 1: most you know, competitive, you want the most competitive tournament
- 45:07Speaker 1: possible in our favorite sport that we're all watch.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Yeah, that vibe Saturday night was bad.
- 45:11Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like the Oregon organ JMU and then Tulane
- 45:15Speaker 1: O miss Like you're watching A and M Miami. You're
- 45:18Speaker 1: watching Bama Oklahoma and then the other games, like you're
- 45:21Speaker 1: checking into see is there even gonna be a fighting shot?
- 45:23Speaker 1: Oh it's thirty four to three. I don't even care
- 45:26Speaker 1: to watch the rest of this football. Oh, Jami, you
- 45:28Speaker 1: ended up putting thirty four points on the board. I
- 45:30Speaker 1: wonder if it wass it gets backed ups whatever it is. Yeah,
- 45:32Speaker 1: but you're not you just you don't care to watch
- 45:34Speaker 1: those games at all. And like, imagine the world. I know,
- 45:37Speaker 1: obviously I spout about the Notre Dame stuff, but imagine
- 45:40Speaker 1: Notre Dame BYU or Vaney that would have been in
- 45:42Speaker 1: the playoff or in some of these games this year.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Yeah, you're like tuned in, excited to see what's what's
- 45:46Speaker 2: gonna go down.
- 45:47Speaker 3: Because they're watching real conferences, real independence that say hey,
- 45:50Speaker 3: we're just as big as the big dogs. We're gonna
- 45:52Speaker 3: go prove ourselves because everybody wants to see the power forwards,
- 45:55Speaker 3: like who is the best at the end of this year.
- 45:57Speaker 3: We're gonna have the conversations wherever it was the national championship, whatever,
- 46:00Speaker 3: if it's Big ten SEC, We're all gonna sit there
- 46:02Speaker 3: and be like, this is the best conference. Now, top
- 46:04Speaker 3: the top of the top is the best conference. You're
- 46:06Speaker 3: not getting that without getting like Vanderbilt to go to Oregon,
- 46:09Speaker 3: Like that would have been a game I think we
- 46:10Speaker 3: all tuned into. Hell, we even maybe go to because
- 46:13Speaker 3: we have multiple dogs in that fight. And then we
- 46:16Speaker 3: make the trip to Eugene over going to a M Miami, right,
- 46:20Speaker 3: because you're right, there was two games this weekend. Everything
- 46:23Speaker 3: else was, Hey, congratulations.
- 46:25Speaker 1: If there happened to be that G five team that
- 46:27Speaker 1: is ranked in the top fifteen, Top twelve Cincinnati from
- 46:29Speaker 1: five years ago, Yeah, like you're still you'd be curious cycle.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Let's see if they can they can rock with the
- 46:33Speaker 1: big dogs. Yeah, if they do, it's much more entertaining
- 46:36Speaker 1: and fun to watch. It's just we all knew how
- 46:38Speaker 1: these games were going to go down.
- 46:39Speaker 2: Over the world.
- 46:39Speaker 4: It's always obvious when AG five team actually belongs in
- 46:43Speaker 4: the playoff. There have been several Bois's, a couple of ucfs,
- 46:47Speaker 4: that Cincinnati team from just a few years back before
- 46:49Speaker 4: they joined the Big Twelve. Those teams Cincinnati made the
- 46:53Speaker 4: four team playoff, and I remember like vividly saying, yeah,
- 46:57Speaker 4: I think they belong in. I didn't push back on it.
- 46:59Speaker 4: It's not like you're blanketly anti G five. It's you
- 47:02Speaker 4: want deserving teams.
- 47:03Speaker 5: In the playoffs.
- 47:04Speaker 4: The other thing is I don't believe in comparing basketball
- 47:07Speaker 4: to football at all. But for the people who do
- 47:09Speaker 4: go down that road of comparing the NCAA tournament and
- 47:11Speaker 4: March Madness to the college football playoff, and they're like this, man,
- 47:14Speaker 4: we want to.
- 47:14Speaker 5: Cinderell lah blah blah blah.
- 47:17Speaker 4: I enjoy watching like a George Mason go up against
- 47:21Speaker 4: Duke in the first round. Point spread maybe twenty four
- 47:23Speaker 4: and a half. But there is something in the back
- 47:25Speaker 4: of my mind that tells me this could happen. It's unlikely,
- 47:28Speaker 4: but it could happen. And also I enjoy watching the
- 47:31Speaker 4: kids have that experience. There is nothing fun to me
- 47:35Speaker 4: about watching JMU or Tulane be on the same field
- 47:39Speaker 4: in any kind of competitive playoff environment with legit like
- 47:44Speaker 4: top ten caliber Big ten and SEC teams. And the
- 47:47Speaker 4: other dirty secret from the past. Two dirty secrets from
- 47:50Speaker 4: the past. The first dirty secret is most of the
- 47:52Speaker 4: great G five teams people use in these arguments to
- 47:55Speaker 4: prop up the G five will never exist again because
- 47:58Speaker 4: all the talent got rated in the modern acte number two.
- 48:02Speaker 4: And this is one that gets pushed back, but I
- 48:03Speaker 4: don't care because I know it's true. Most of the
- 48:06Speaker 4: examples people use Utah, Alabama, UCF, Auburn, whatever the case
- 48:11Speaker 4: may be. It was a G five team playing their
- 48:13Speaker 4: Super Bowl against some SEC or Big ten team that
- 48:17Speaker 4: missed out on their goal, and now they're playing a
- 48:19Speaker 4: consolation bowl game, so you got disproportionate motivation and buy
- 48:23Speaker 4: in this last weekend is actually what it looks like
- 48:26Speaker 4: when a G five inferior opponent gets the full focus
- 48:29Speaker 4: of a power program. That's what that actually looks like
- 48:33Speaker 4: I had an Auburn kid in twenty seventeen. They beat
- 48:37Speaker 4: Alabama and Georgia. Then they go to the SEC championship game,
- 48:40Speaker 4: Kerrie and Johnson's hurt. They get beat by Georgia, and
- 48:45Speaker 4: they go from thinking they're going to go to the
- 48:46Speaker 4: playoff or whatever win the SEC to they're going to
- 48:48Speaker 4: play in the Peach Bowl against UCF. I had one
- 48:51Speaker 4: of the kids telling me this is not one of
- 48:53Speaker 4: the six biggest games of our season. UCF has a
- 48:56Speaker 4: banner in their building because they won that game. Yeah,
- 48:59Speaker 4: just to give you a idea of how different that was, said, Yeah.
- 49:04Speaker 3: I think we covered it. Yeah, is there anything boys
- 49:07Speaker 3: we miss? Anything in the back here, Jared? I know
- 49:10Speaker 3: you big colforotball guys. Everything you got. Shout out, shout
- 49:13Speaker 3: out Alaholma, thank you for the hot dogs, Thank you
- 49:16Speaker 3: for the hot dogs. YEP.
- 49:19Speaker 1: As an observer of the weekend, it was like, I'm
- 49:21Speaker 1: sitting there, I'm hearing about what happened to the boys,
- 49:23Speaker 1: what happened to my boys. Then I see Pete's got
- 49:27Speaker 1: his Rollerdex of content coming out where he's.
- 49:28Speaker 2: On the field. All those things, I'm like, damn, and all.
- 49:34Speaker 3: The things all the things that went down. I'm sitting
- 49:38Speaker 3: there at the end, we're flying back. Jared's sleeping with
- 49:40Speaker 3: his mouth wide open. JP and are having a good conversation,
- 49:43Speaker 3: and I'm just thinking, the one time Will doesn't come
- 49:46Speaker 3: with us, it all falls apart. It's where I'm gonna
- 49:49Speaker 3: have to go and tell club what happened, tell ESPN
- 49:52Speaker 3: what happened. And I'm gonna have to get on the
- 49:53Speaker 3: phone with the Will and be like, this is what happened,
- 49:56Speaker 3: and it sucked.
- 49:57Speaker 1: I see my boys just in the top road like
- 50:00Speaker 1: the wind blow and eating popcorn. And then I go
- 50:02Speaker 1: to Pet's timeline and he's in the backstage betting the dog.
- 50:06Speaker 5: He bet it up.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Yeah, he didn't get the red carpet rolled out.
- 50:09Speaker 5: He's you know what, we know.
- 50:12Speaker 3: It's good for us with the boys though, is this
- 50:14Speaker 3: has been twenty twenty five has been an incredible year
- 50:16Speaker 3: for us. It's been awesome. I mean our relationship, the
- 50:20Speaker 3: locker room, the traveling, all the things doing ESPN. We
- 50:24Speaker 3: have been like Icarus, dude. We have been flying towards
- 50:27Speaker 3: the sun. It was about damn time we fell a
- 50:29Speaker 3: little bit. So actually shout out Oklahoma because we needed
- 50:32Speaker 3: a good humbling. We needed it.
- 50:35Speaker 2: Go ahead on the on that topic. On the flight there,
- 50:38Speaker 2: do you remember you just being like, man, everything is perfect?
- 50:42Speaker 3: Could yes?
- 50:43Speaker 2: And it was.
- 50:44Speaker 3: It wasn't the flight to Oklahoma. It was a fight
- 50:46Speaker 3: from Oklahoma after everything happened. And I'm thinking, dealt with
- 50:49Speaker 3: a bad bad egg like that happens sometimes. And I'm
- 50:52Speaker 3: like sitting there reflecting with all the boys, like how
- 50:54Speaker 3: cool has this year been? And it feels like every
- 50:57Speaker 3: year is its own, like whole lifetime that takes place. Yeah,
- 51:01Speaker 3: and we're all like kind of shaking her heads and
- 51:02Speaker 3: being like, yeah, dude, it's awesome. Go to sleep, wake up.
- 51:05Speaker 3: Hell is taking place. And I literally have somebody from
- 51:09Speaker 3: ESPN saying what people said about you guys in Oklahoma.
- 51:12Speaker 3: They reference it to a terrorist attack.
- 51:15Speaker 5: I can't believe you can even fly. You should be
- 51:17Speaker 5: able to list right now.
- 51:19Speaker 2: Taylor's sleeping, the boys are sleeping.
- 51:22Speaker 3: I'm jumping my bad dude, and I'm like, oh, this
- 51:25Speaker 3: is a good humbling for us, Like we stay in
- 51:28Speaker 3: Ritz Carlton for this, let's get in this holiday, like, oh,
- 51:31Speaker 3: we're everyone's great beds are actually relatively comfortable to sit there.
- 51:36Speaker 2: Wake up.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Ah, decent night's sleep.
- 51:39Speaker 5: Look at my phone.
- 51:40Speaker 2: Hell grenade great, Hell.
- 51:44Speaker 4: I gotta tell you. I gotta tell you. I told
- 51:46Speaker 4: you allfare I'm gonna tell you on air. I'm at
- 51:48Speaker 4: Oklahoma fair amount. I storm Chase in Oklahoma National Weather
- 51:52Speaker 4: Services on the campus of the University of Oklahoma. So
- 51:55Speaker 4: me and Oklahoma. So I vouched for Oklahoma. However I
- 52:00Speaker 4: vouch for you as well. And so I think, probably
- 52:03Speaker 4: from a mediator standpoint, I got work to do. Maybe
- 52:07Speaker 4: I take this personally. Maybe this is kind of on me.
- 52:09Speaker 4: I haven't taken responsibility for anything on the show all year,
- 52:12Speaker 4: so maybe it's time. Maybe it's time for me to
- 52:16Speaker 4: take my first l So I'm gonna fix this. I
- 52:19Speaker 4: gotta find a way to fix it.
- 52:21Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you our game plan. We've said our peace.
- 52:23Speaker 3: I'm not gonna sit back and pretend like it never
- 52:25Speaker 3: happened until somebody. I'm just gonna sit in the pocket now.
- 52:28Speaker 3: I'm be like, hopef we gets figured out. It's not
- 52:30Speaker 3: we're stressing about Christmas shopping to do or I'm like
- 52:33Speaker 3: kind of stressed about that.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Oh god, yeah, God.
- 52:40Speaker 3: Stalking the Perfect is a storm chasing with Josh and
- 52:48Speaker 3: that one individual. Make them come with you as attorney does.
- 52:52Speaker 2: Coming just.
- 52:56Speaker 5: For clarification. I don't want to clarify what the world
- 53:00Speaker 5: happened here.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Don't even worry about it. You'll find out it's single storm.
- 53:03Speaker 2: Jason just die.
- 53:04Speaker 3: Someone fell out.
- 53:05Speaker 4: We don't allow done okay from an insurance From an
- 53:09Speaker 4: insurance perspective, I can't loud.
- 53:12Speaker 2: I'm kidding.
- 53:13Speaker 1: I would never Oh big gug Sinny kisses, Merry Christmas,
