- 0:32And we're live. Welcome to the All Balls No
- 0:35Philtre podcast. Live from the cabin kitchen.
- 0:38I'm Zach. He's Brad.
- 0:40Hello there. And behind the scenes, we have a
- 0:43man who was once rumoured to be the Sig, the Stig's secret love
- 0:47child. That's what we're getting at.
- 0:48It's researcher Cal. It's researcher Cal, the love
- 0:52child himself. Oh, I put me teeth in today.
- 0:56I thought I'd try my hardest and put me teeth in but evidently
- 0:59with 35 seconds into it and I've messed up already.
- 1:02How are you doing mate anyway? Yeah, I'm good.
- 1:04I mean, I'd expect nothing less from you, mate.
- 1:06We were stressing over last week's, weren't we?
- 1:08A little bit. But here we are and we go as we
- 1:11mean to. Carry on, I guess.
- 1:14Progressively getting worse each week, but we're still here.
- 1:17Hey, what we got on today matey? So we have the coaching carousel
- 1:23coming up. We've had some big news over the
- 1:25last few days, quite a few hirings there, so we'll pick
- 1:27those up straight after we visit all four games from the
- 1:32divisional round in our balls of the week before, of course,
- 1:36looking ahead at the AFC and NFC Championship games.
- 1:39And we can't forget, of course, I think we've got a good one
- 1:42this week. All of the balls for other major
- 1:44stories in the world of sports, and the return of for those who
- 1:48listen to the first Pod Live's words.
- 1:52Looking forward to it, right? We've got a packed episode as
- 1:56per usual. Lots to talk about, lots to have
- 1:59questionable takes on. But let's get into balls of the
- 2:02week, shall we? Boom, Balls of the week.
- 2:07Your first, my man. Let's go.
- 2:10I am indeed with an absolute stormer that took us all the way
- 2:14to overtime. Buffalo Bills versus Denver
- 2:16Broncos at the Mile High, ending 3330 to the Broncos in an
- 2:22absolute stormer of a game. I mean, we'd expect nothing less
- 2:28from these two competitors and I think the controversy's there.
- 2:32There always is when it comes to the Bills in the play offs.
- 2:34There is the controversy and I'm sure we'll get to it, but I
- 2:38think we just lay it all out as the game took place.
- 2:41Really. It was an absolute roller
- 2:44coaster, wasn't it? You know, Josh Allen, 25 for 39
- 2:48passing over 250 yards, 3 to these two inceptions.
- 2:51Crazy. But then on the flip side,
- 2:53you've got Bonex throwing 46 times for a similar amount of
- 2:58yards there at 2793 touchdowns, interception, what a game.
- 3:03From start to finish, it was back and forth, absolute nuts.
- 3:08What do you think that do? You know what, I I managed to
- 3:13watch the highlights this I was busy on on Saturday when, when
- 3:15the when the game were on, but like I when I switched the
- 3:18highlights to it and just there's something about Bonex.
- 3:21Bonex looks like a year five year 6 QB that settled into his
- 3:25prime. Is, is peeking at where he is.
- 3:28He's he's been around the organisation for years.
- 3:31He's best mates with the owner, yet this guy's an absolute stud.
- 3:35In what? Year two?
- 3:38Yeah, yeah. Year 2. 2 I believe Yeah yeah 2.
- 3:41Yeah, yeah, Year 2 absolute stud and seems to just be looking to
- 3:48get better and better as weeks go on and your credit and
- 3:51commiserations to to Josh Allen and the bills like killed Sabine
- 3:55and you know a rival individual rival and everything.
- 3:57But they played so well yet. But Denver just turned up and
- 4:04and Bonex just ran that game from me.
- 4:07He conducted the offence like an absolute professional.
- 4:11What a guy. I mean, he's, he's in his second
- 4:15year, but he's probably one of the oldest quarterbacks in the
- 4:17league. I would take a guess out.
- 4:19You know, he's, he's, he was at college for quite a while,
- 4:22wasn't he? But he's, it's worked out for
- 4:24him, hasn't it? Like even just last year when he
- 4:26came in as a rookie and he he's commanded the field.
- 4:30Sean Payton absolutely loves the guy and it just shows in his
- 4:34game that, you know, week in, week out, it's absolutely
- 4:37gutting. Really what's happened to him.
- 4:38Isn't he obviously right at the back end of the game there ankle
- 4:42injury. I'm not sure if it's a break or
- 4:44a fracture, but either way, he is done.
- 4:47He's out for the season. He will not be playing in the
- 4:50AFC championship game and we'll pick up the implications of that
- 4:53later in the pod. But you've then got Bills same
- 4:57old story fallen short. This team that have been backed
- 5:01for how many seasons now has it been the bills year that they've
- 5:04got to do it, they've got to make it.
- 5:06And I think it's showing that well, it has shown, hasn't it?
- 5:10We obviously have heard the news that Sean McDermott has been
- 5:13fired and we'll we'll pick that up as well.
- 5:15But for Josh Allen, it's the same old story really is we, we
- 5:21spoke quite actually last week and we spoke about how actually
- 5:23in his early career is quite erratic and he's very up and
- 5:26down. And this was probably an up and
- 5:28down game frame really wasn't it like 3 passing touchdowns?
- 5:31But then on a flip side, you've got 2 inceptions.
- 5:34I think there's a fumble or two thrown in there as well.
- 5:37And it's just has the, is the moment too big for Josh Allen or
- 5:42is he just distracted with his beautiful life too often?
- 5:44I don't know. I don't.
- 5:45Know what it is. So I'm going to throw a bit of a
- 5:48niche reference out there that the a lot of the English list is
- 5:51all, especially the ones across the M62 corridor will
- 5:54understand. The Bills remind me of the
- 5:56warrant and walls. It's always our year and that's
- 5:59what the fan base gives year in, year out.
- 6:01Oh, it's our year. Josh Allen's going to lead us
- 6:03there. Mcdermott's going to leave us
- 6:05there, lead us there, sorry. And they're fantastic.
- 6:09They're a phenomenal team. But they get to the point of of
- 6:13the playoffs and they just seem to bottle it like Josh Allen's
- 6:18never been a a quarterback of, of of his kind of calibre, never
- 6:23been to a Super Bowl. Is, is, is barmy and I and I
- 6:28just think that the McDermott firing is it I we'll, we'll get
- 6:37to it soon. I don't want to touch it too
- 6:38much now. We'll get to it soon with the
- 6:40McDermott firing. So it goes into the other
- 6:42coaching side of things that I want to touch on.
- 6:43But I don't know. I don't know if it were the
- 6:45right call personally at this time, but something had to
- 6:47change. They're not going to change Josh
- 6:49Allen Allen because he's he's the franchise.
- 6:51So. No, and there's only so many
- 6:53times though that the club can have the season they've had,
- 6:57they can have the wins that they've had.
- 6:59I mean, it's been a little bit of an up and down season for
- 7:01them as well. Obviously they didn't win their
- 7:03division for the first time in however many years.
- 7:06But when you've got a team playing like they do and they
- 7:08can, I mean, James Cook had 117 rushing yards on 24 carries.
- 7:13You got Dalton Kincaid with six receptions, 83 yards, one
- 7:16touchdown. Like there's the quality there.
- 7:20There is the quality there, but they're just not getting over
- 7:22the hump out there. And I hate that saying myself,
- 7:24but it's the absolute definition of the Bills.
- 7:28They're just not getting where they need to be.
- 7:30And you know, the Sharma Dermot stuffs cropped up the last few
- 7:34seasons, actually. Like, if they don't get to the
- 7:36Super Bowl, is this going to be it?
- 7:38If they don't get to the Super Bowl, is this going to be it?
- 7:39Oh, no, is this year going to be it?
- 7:41And this year was it, wasn't it? He's gone.
- 7:45Yeah, that's it, That's it. Where does this now lead?
- 7:48Where's where does this now leave the Broncos?
- 7:51So the Broncos actually playing phenomenally well, the team that
- 7:55quite quite rightly would of deserved to win the Super Bowl
- 8:00this year, still still do deserve, shall I say, to to win
- 8:02the Super Bowl. It should have been phenomenal
- 8:03all year, but they're playmakers out.
- 8:07They've got QB stepping up who's not taken a snap in two years.
- 8:13Like, yes, he's going up against his former teams, but and and
- 8:17research car. Actually, while while we talk
- 8:19about this, I'm pretty sure if you just double check something
- 8:21for me, the last time John had stood him started, he threw for
- 8:26like 370 something yards like, which is fantastic.
- 8:29But that was over two years ago. So where does this go?
- 8:33And we all we all saw with the whole shoulder thing with with
- 8:36with Cleveland when he when he got thrown in.
- 8:38He doesn't he doesn't have been training with the first team.
- 8:41He'll have been training with the first team since yesterday.
- 8:45So he's got like 6 days or something to, to, to build up
- 8:48and to get them the, the knowledge of the receivers and
- 8:52the roots and the reads and things like that before the
- 8:55biggest game of his career. And he's like, I, I saw him
- 9:00start the event and I knew I should have written it down.
- 9:02I saw him start the other day. He's the first QB to have his
- 9:06first start of the season in the post season.
- 9:10He's like 1970 something. It just doesn't happen normally.
- 9:14Yeah, I were expecting, I were expecting Sean Payton to get
- 9:16Drew Brees up for and I'm not going to lie to you, you know,
- 9:19we've seen it was before already this year with somebody else,
- 9:21you know, you're coaching QB kind of a handshake.
- 9:24But look, it's one of them. I feel for the guys, I do, But
- 9:28at the same time, no, I don't because we're playing them next.
- 9:33It's a tough one, isn't it? It's, you know, Stidham's is
- 9:37probably one of the better quarterbacks.
- 9:39Let's be on the better backup quarterbacks.
- 9:41Sorry. He's definitely up there at
- 9:44least top 10 backup. And I don't know if that's
- 9:46really a start to scream and shout about, but he's definitely
- 9:50up there. And I know, you know, we always
- 9:52used to speak about Matt Moore as Miami Dolphins fans being
- 9:54like the best backup quarterback in the league.
- 9:56And it is important, isn't it? Like I can't remember who it is
- 10:00now, but there's that there's a guy who always says, oh, you
- 10:03know, you're the best, most important player in teams.
- 10:05You caught about your second most best, most important player
- 10:08on your team is your backup quarterback.
- 10:10That sort of mantra, and it's right, isn't it?
- 10:13Because we see it too many times when the big dog goes down and
- 10:16the team's just not the same team.
- 10:17But Peyton's quality. Peyton's got experience.
- 10:21It's, you know, he's come out and he's said students ready to
- 10:25go, which of course he's going to say.
- 10:27But time will tell, won't it? Yeah, there are a that kind of
- 10:35research colleges come up big. They'd be through for 500 yards
- 10:37over three starts in 2023, which is is still is still good.
- 10:40But what still surprises me is that they don't have a day of
- 10:45the week for the backup just to get some reps in with the first
- 10:49team. Like I know there's a lot to go
- 10:52through, but these guys are professional.
- 10:53These guys are these guys could be training all day.
- 10:56And I think there should be some sort of rotation because because
- 10:59of the just in case. And I didn't realise how much, I
- 11:03think that's how much the backups didn't have have much to
- 11:06do with the first team like receivers and stuff until I
- 11:10listened to the Pat McAfee show about it.
- 11:11And obviously that, that, that, that panels got all sorts of
- 11:17experience when it comes down to the, the, the NFL.
- 11:21And they were all saying the same like you, you just don't
- 11:24get any unless you're the starter.
- 11:25And it, it comes from there. But yeah, it's surprising me,
- 11:29but you know, it's, it's, it's got 5 days.
- 11:34Yes, yes. You know, he's got the advantage
- 11:36that they're at home for the championship game.
- 11:39So it helps, I guess. He's there in that vicinity.
- 11:43He's training at the altitude. XY and Z over media statements
- 11:48that you want to say, but we'll see.
- 11:51We'll see. I mean, obviously the the big
- 11:54news we've sort of touched on coming out of the game as well,
- 11:57or the day after the game is Mcdermott's gone.
- 12:00It's an interesting one to see where this takes the Bills next.
- 12:05I'm sure there's a couple of coaches maybe considering they
- 12:07might have signed some contracts a little bit too early.
- 12:10Not naming no names now. You know, no names just yet, but
- 12:18you know, it's, it's one of those, isn't it?
- 12:19Like, you know, you've got a top tier quarterback, top five
- 12:21quarterback, definitely they're available and that's what
- 12:24organisations have to choose between the coach and the top
- 12:27five quarterback. And we know that those don't
- 12:29come across come along very often.
- 12:30So decisions been made, hasn't it?
- 12:33And it'll be interesting to see who takes the reins.
- 12:36Could it be the return of day ball?
- 12:38Who knows? We'll we'll see in the coming
- 12:41days and weeks, I guess. But All in all, a real cracker
- 12:45of a game. And I hope, you know, the next
- 12:48three games that we've got left of the season are just as good.
- 12:52I agree, mate, I agree. So right, balls the week #1
- 12:55let's move to balls the week #2 shall we?
- 12:56Which is the Houston Texans against the New England
- 13:00Patriots. Now this finished up 2816 to the
- 13:04Patriots. And look, for me personally,
- 13:09this is a win win game because I predicted the Texans to win last
- 13:12week and I predicted the Texans to go all the way to the Super
- 13:16Bowl. But we did warn you at the start
- 13:18of the episode, guys, and the start of the show.
- 13:20We don't talk a lot of facts, you know, we talk a lot of
- 13:22waffle and waffling back then, all right?
- 13:24But that being said, it's a win win for me.
- 13:27I either get the prediction right or my team gets through to
- 13:29the next round. And look, we got through OK.
- 13:33We're going to touch on Houston to start off with.
- 13:36Houston's D did come out strong and Eusis D was strong
- 13:39throughout. They were, what let them down
- 13:42was the offence in CJ Stroud. So CJ Stroud comes out 20 or
- 13:4647212 yards, 1 touchdown, 4 interceptions, three of which
- 13:52were in the first half. Now look, my 2 feature game this
- 13:57week are going to have something very similar to about them both
- 13:59and it's this next statement. Yes it rained and yes it snowed,
- 14:03but it snows and rains for both teams.
- 14:05OK, 3 exceptions in first half isn't, isn't necessarily just
- 14:11weather orientated, it's just bad play.
- 14:14And I think, I think with CJ Straub now, you know, he's got,
- 14:18he's got that experience behind him.
- 14:20He's no longer a, you know, a quote unquote rookie
- 14:22quarterback. He's he's still a relatively new
- 14:24quarterback and a young quarterback, but it's not the
- 14:26first time he's been to the playoffs.
- 14:28He needs to mature a little bit and calm down in them
- 14:32situations. The Texans that we saw on Sunday
- 14:34night were the Texans that we saw the first six week of the
- 14:37season. When was it they went oh, and
- 14:39six for the first six week or whatever it was and they just
- 14:43weren't the team. They weren't coming out firing
- 14:45and it it puts a bit of a dump on that Texans D because they
- 14:48were phenomenal. They were great.
- 14:50They did stop a lot of the stuff to begin with.
- 14:51They were getting to Drake May. They were making Drake may
- 14:54fumble, but it wasn't enough when the offence came out And
- 14:57you know, look, not only the interceptions, it's the bad pass
- 15:01and the bad accuracy like Kade Stover is.
- 15:05I was looking at his name at Kade Stover goes down with the
- 15:07knee drill. Now it's not been reported yet.
- 15:08As of today, it's not been reported yet.
- 15:10What damage is done to his knee. But the the password that far
- 15:13behind him that his own players up to twist go down and he he'll
- 15:18basically look at the bottom of the bottom of his foot when he
- 15:20when he was going down, it were awful to see and there were no
- 15:25defender around him. He weren't like you were under
- 15:26double, double coverage or anything.
- 15:27There were nobody around him. It were just a bad pass.
- 15:31And I just feel like yesterday. I have Nico Collins, so they
- 15:36have one of the major weapons. I get that, but still came out
- 15:41and like a day like it's like a deal in the headlight situation.
- 15:46And I don't know, I think without putting too much
- 15:49pressure on him and things that are like, I just think he was
- 15:52the the biggest factor as to why the Texans didn't do much
- 15:57yesterday on on Sunday, Sorry. I think the.
- 16:00Texans have got a really big decision to make with him now,
- 16:02haven't they? Like, he's played three seasons
- 16:04now, and his first season was brilliant.
- 16:06Like, genuinely great. You know, Texans generally were
- 16:09great that season, but it was CJ Stroud who led the Storm.
- 16:13And last season was poor, not great.
- 16:16And then this season obviously they've outperformed
- 16:18expectations and they've done it in style.
- 16:21That defence is phenomenal. But obviously it's his fourth
- 16:25year. Next year they'll have the 5th
- 16:28year option. But realistically with first
- 16:32round picks, it's that fourth year that really matters.
- 16:34It's it's the tour trap. Basically what you can do I
- 16:39think with CJ is give him the money in the fourth year to make
- 16:44him happy and him not progress. We've seen it with two or after
- 16:49he got the bag. It's not been great.
- 16:52It's not he hasn't progressed. You could argue he's regressed.
- 16:56And I think Texans have got a really tightrope really to walk
- 17:00with say CJ because like you say, he just wasn't good.
- 17:03Was he like you can't throw 3 interceptions in the first half
- 17:08against the team that have performed like New England have
- 17:11now? I'm still going to die on this
- 17:12hill. New England have not yet played
- 17:15a good team. I'll come to that.
- 17:19I'll come to that. No, no, no, right.
- 17:23Don't get me started already. Get me started.
- 17:25After I've done my next couple of points, we're going to we're
- 17:27going to go out of town on this because as much as I agree with
- 17:29you, I've got fighting points back all right, but I agree too
- 17:34often they give QB's money too early and then they get
- 17:37comfortable like they give me before when they can extend that
- 17:40fifth year, for instance, they get comfortable with it and in
- 17:43EU, since it happened before, I agree they've got a big decision
- 17:46to make on CJ. Now let's talk about the good
- 17:48parts. Let's talk about the New England
- 17:50Patriots right? Drake May 16th 27 Not ideal, not
- 17:55great, but again, we've not seen the best in best of Drake May in
- 17:59in a postseason yet. I still think Drake May's again
- 18:02maturing in the post season. There are quite a few fumbles as
- 18:05well, which is is alarming to see.
- 18:07But it was same on both sides. It's wet and snowy, you know is
- 18:10where it is. 100 and 79179 yards, 3 touchdowns, 1
- 18:14interception and that one interception would have bounced
- 18:16up right? But for me, the playmaker for
- 18:20the New England Patriots is Keisha Booty, right?
- 18:25K Sean Booty mimicking the the past that he did earlier in the
- 18:29year, the one under grabbing to the end zone.
- 18:31Oh my sweetie. And this is this is a compliment
- 18:34to to Drake May the offence and McDaniels in background doing
- 18:39everything they can to make everyone feel as complicated.
- 18:42And yeah, we've got big names like, you know, digs on on that
- 18:44field as such as being a leader. But K Sean Booty, he wasn't
- 18:49wasn't exactly a five star receiver within the NFL and he's
- 18:54coming and making catch that because Drake May's putting him.
- 18:57We talk about this when we coach all the time, Brad for people I
- 19:00don't know, first time me and Brad both coaching in the UK are
- 19:03both coaching British team, Wakefield district Raiders.
- 19:05And when we coach you in particular, the tips that we
- 19:09give to to the to the QB, sorry, we're throwing like a sideline
- 19:12pass or a ball into the end zone.
- 19:15You throw it to where your receiver can catch it or nobody
- 19:18can catch it. And then my next ball of the
- 19:21week is in the next game I'm talking about, we have another
- 19:23throw that's exactly the same as that.
- 19:24It just shows funnily, if it's the 2 MVP candidates that are
- 19:28being smart enough to throw the ball into a certain area that he
- 19:31can trust that his his guy's going to catch.
- 19:33And if no one, if he's not going to catch it, ball goes dead.
- 19:36We'll go back for another play from there.
- 19:38Now look, conditions weren't great on either side at all, but
- 19:43I think for what it is, it just got too much for Stroud on
- 19:46there. The turnover battle won the game
- 19:49and it went in the favour of the parts which now they're moving
- 19:51on and they're facing another tough team being the Broncos.
- 19:55Yes, they're missing a major offensive player.
- 19:57Peed being the quarterback now Amy out on this?
- 20:02Before we get started, I fully agree that the New England
- 20:04Patriots have had an easy Rd up there, but I just want to open a
- 20:07bit of a debate to it. And if you listen in the
- 20:08comments as well, guys, get involved with this comment.
- 20:10But don't jump down my neck saying all this about New
- 20:13England. At least listen to me first,
- 20:14right? They've got an easy schedule.
- 20:16Yeah, but if you look hard enough, A-Team, every year's got
- 20:20an easy schedule. We've played the top three
- 20:23defences in the past however many weeks.
- 20:25We've played the best defence in the NFL last week and torn them
- 20:30apart, right? We're going to win the Super
- 20:33Bowl. Face it, if, if, if any other
- 20:36team let's OK, let's just put this into perspective.
- 20:40Let's say the Denver Broncos had our schedule.
- 20:42Would everybody be talking about how easy ride, how easy the ride
- 20:45is that Denver have had to to the Super Bowl?
- 20:47No, they wouldn't. No, they wouldn't.
- 20:50No, they because the team every year has an easy schedule, but
- 20:53no one complaints about it. But because the England Patriots
- 20:56haven't had a bucket offseason a bad time.
- 21:00Now it is. Look, no one can.
- 21:02No one can fault how well Drake May's played like he's come in
- 21:05his rookie season last year. He's played brilliantly.
- 21:09He deserves the credit that he's getting in terms of the MVP
- 21:13chatter, and he very much might win it.
- 21:15Fair play. But the New England Patriots
- 21:18this season have had the third easiest strength of schedule
- 21:22ever since that record has ever existed.
- 21:26And then they go into the playoffs and they face a
- 21:29horrendous CJ Stroud, and now they're going to go into the AFC
- 21:33Championship and face Stidham. Yes, but we still got the
- 21:37Broncos defence to face. Yeah, I know, I agree with that.
- 21:41But it's not as it's not as if. It's not as if Crash walked into
- 21:44to Mr Goodall and God, right. I want the third easiest
- 21:47schedule. We haven't asked for it.
- 21:49We just, you got, you play the hand that's dealt, right?
- 21:52And that's what's in front of us.
- 21:54I fully agree, you can only play what's in front of you.
- 21:57Fair play. Absolutely.
- 21:59It just so happens that Patriots have always had trash in front
- 22:02of them. So.
- 22:03Hey, look, right? I I'd I'm not bothered.
- 22:06It is raised we still I I, I have PTSD over Nick Foles and
- 22:12what happened with the Patriots against the Eagles.
- 22:15I I'm not running and I'm much I said that we were going to Super
- 22:19Bowl. We have got did.
- 22:20You see, Nick Foles's tweet did. You see Nick Foles, what a shit
- 22:23out, what an absolute shit house he is.
- 22:26You know what I mean? For those of you that haven't
- 22:28seen it, I'm not quoting exactly, but he basically said,
- 22:31you know, like Broncos fans, don't worry.
- 22:34I heard the Patriots have a tendency of losing against
- 22:36backup quarterbacks. Absolutely brilliant like.
- 22:41Sorry. And it just properly made me
- 22:43howl. Before I move on to the the next
- 22:45ball of the week, what what concerns me is is McDaniel like
- 22:50he he used to rave about Stidham when he were at the Patriots.
- 22:54He's to love him and that don't feel me with confidence if like
- 22:58Roc really likes him. But he had thrown the ball for a
- 23:01while. So we'll see how it goes.
- 23:02It's going to go. It's going to go one way or
- 23:03another. It's really embarrassing or it's
- 23:06going to be you've had another easy ride Super Bowl, right.
- 23:11Let's go on to the next ball a week.
- 23:12Charlie, Brad, what is it? Yeah, yeah, let's so Seattle, my
- 23:20word, Seattle Seahawks versus 49ers.
- 23:23I'm laughing at the the last sentence you just said, but I'm
- 23:26also laughing at this game. What an absolute shambles for
- 23:29the 49ers. Gosh, I mean, I actually
- 23:32predicted 49ers to win this one. I thought they were going to
- 23:36turn it on their head a little bit.
- 23:37And yeah, I just, it didn't happen, did it at all.
- 23:42And you know, they absolutely took it to the 49ers, did the
- 23:47Seahawks, and they basically said we're going to the Super
- 23:51Bowl, whether you like it or not.
- 23:52So Rams, it's up to you to come and get us.
- 23:55They just absolutely dominated from start to finish.
- 24:01Unbelievable performance on every side of the ball.
- 24:08You know that the special teams start in the game as they did
- 24:12the defence just dominating wherever they could.
- 24:16I mean, credits 49ers like they've had a good run.
- 24:18They've been banged up like probably like no other team this
- 24:21season and to get where they've got was really, really
- 24:25impressive. But it was just an absolute
- 24:29trouncing and there's not much more to say about the game.
- 24:33It was, I'll be honest, it was a poor watch.
- 24:36Unless you're a Seahawks fan, it was a poor watch.
- 24:38It's not the sort of game you expect in the divisional round.
- 24:41It was almost like a week too late.
- 24:43You normally get those sort of games in the wild card round,
- 24:46but it was just an unbelievable destruction of what is seen as
- 24:53one of the yearly top teams. You know, you're always talking
- 24:55about Shanahan and the Niners. It doesn't matter that they're
- 24:59always going to come be competitive, and they have.
- 25:01But Mike McDonald's coming to the Seahawks and he's
- 25:04absolutely, I say transform the team.
- 25:06You know, he's got them playing exactly how he wants them to
- 25:08play. He's got the physicality that he
- 25:11wants to show that he showed when he was down round at the
- 25:13Ravens. And I think they're going to be
- 25:17a tough, tough team for the Rams to beat next week.
- 25:20I really do. The The Seahawks team is just
- 25:26unreal. And I think if you look at, you
- 25:30know, awards and like most improved and things like that,
- 25:33this team are unreal. There's not there's nothing much
- 25:37more to say about. Funnily enough, I was talking to
- 25:40to our friend Max tight end and I winded him up.
- 25:44Obviously just saying that we're going to go to Super Bowl, we're
- 25:47going to beat the Seahawks and he's biting so hard on on have
- 25:50you not seen the Seahawks team? I know how good this Seahawks
- 25:53team is this this Seahawks team will take some beating.
- 25:56The only thing that can beat the Seahawks team right now is
- 25:59themselves is Sam Donald is him staying fit going.
- 26:04I think they walk, not walk all over the Rams.
- 26:09I think they'll beat the Rams by by by a good chunk.
- 26:14I just think they're too good for a lot of teams out there and
- 26:18if they get to the Super Bowl, like I kind of hope that don't
- 26:21at the same time because I think if they get to the Super Bowl,
- 26:24it'd be a very one sided boring Super Bowl to watch because
- 26:27they're just having those run away with it.
- 26:28I think they're just that good of a team right now.
- 26:30They are just, they're electric and they're fun to watch.
- 26:35And if you are a Seattle fan and you've gone through the shit
- 26:37times of being a Seattle fan, now is your time to sit there
- 26:42but like relish it and enjoy themselves And like research
- 26:45colleges brought up a really cool they're really fully
- 26:46started that that that Panero slide tackle that you tried to
- 26:48do off at RIP talk about signing of the century in in the which
- 26:54you followed the like transfers finished transfers.
- 26:58Yeah. Is it Rashid Sahid is that
- 27:01exactly pronounce his name off the RIP 90 yard kick return.
- 27:09Just what a way to start a playoff game against arguably
- 27:14one of the favourites to go to the Super Bowl and win it just
- 27:18Yeah, well, it. Just set the stall, didn't it?
- 27:20I mean, 24/6 at half time, I think the score was and that
- 27:23just that said everything you needed to say, like there was no
- 27:27way you could see it as they were walking off.
- 27:29They didn't look like the 49ers. They're like heads seemed down.
- 27:32They were just, you know, they're professional athletes.
- 27:35They're training every day. They're conditioned to go out
- 27:40and, and play what regardless of the score and and you know, 24,
- 27:44six, it's not a score that you can't come back from at all.
- 27:47We've seen it multiple times this year, but it was just
- 27:50obvious and I think they they just felt it.
- 27:53I think from the get go, starting the game, how they did,
- 27:57controlling the game the way that he did.
- 27:59It was just absolutely dominant in every single way.
- 28:04Now you mentioned Donald, obviously he had the the late
- 28:07injury news coming through. Was it an oblique injury?
- 28:10Am I right? Yeah, you were 5050, weren't
- 28:12you? Yeah, and you know, there's,
- 28:15they're saying he'd not thrown a ball until that day.
- 28:18He didn't warm up with the rest of the team in the same way.
- 28:22I guess that's the one to watch heading into next week.
- 28:25Is that a thing? Does it stick around?
- 28:28Is it a nagging injury? And Donald, we've spoke about
- 28:32this a couple of times, actually, the way the way he
- 28:34ended his Vikings career was by basically shit in the bed.
- 28:38And it'd be real shame for him to do that this year.
- 28:42I mean, his record over the last two years is phenomenal and he
- 28:45deserves the credit he's getting.
- 28:47He's turned his career around and he's leading the Seahawks
- 28:50team. It'd be amazing.
- 28:52Can you imagine saying this 343 years ago?
- 28:56Sam Darnold's potentially, you know, Sam Darnold's in a
- 28:59championship game, let alone Sam Darnold is very possibly going
- 29:03to be playing in a Super Bowl. You you wouldn't have thought
- 29:06especially the start of the year, but I just they're just
- 29:12they're just so good to watch research college got to start
- 29:14actually that I can't actually believe myself.
- 29:18But excuse me. There were 26 offensive plays
- 29:22called all game. Right.
- 29:24So 26 plays all game by Seattle and 18 of them were runs.
- 29:27If and if that don't show that the ground and pound works then
- 29:32you know I don't know what will It's it.
- 29:35Yeah, it's unreal. Like it's just good to see and
- 29:38and it's scary to see. But at what point, Speaking of
- 29:42Donald's injury, our our concern pregame, you fought, he won six,
- 29:48you finishing game. What point do you do you think
- 29:50about pulling them out of the game just in case?
- 29:54Because I know it's, I know it's a playoff game.
- 29:56Half time for me. Well, he's exactly, but at what
- 29:59point? Why didn't they?
- 30:01I understand that he wants to play and everything, but keep
- 30:03the guy fit and then if they start catching back up, send him
- 30:06back on like, I don't know, I don't know.
- 30:09It's a big one for me is that it's it's.
- 30:11There's the argument, though, isn't the the Rams do it, don't
- 30:14they? They never rest their players in
- 30:17like the last games of the season.
- 30:19They're always like, yeah, we'll just go out and we'll play the
- 30:20game and we'll keep the momentum.
- 30:22So I get it. But at the same time, the
- 30:23quarterback's a bit of a different sort of bag, isn't it?
- 30:27That's it, that's it. Well that's game three mate.
- 30:29Anything else you want to say about Game 3 before I move on to
- 30:32game #4? No, the quicker we forget game
- 30:36three the better in my opinion. Okie, dokie, right, Balls of the
- 30:40week #4 is the LA Rams versus the Chicago Bears finishing 2017
- 30:45in overtime now? This again for me, what an
- 30:48electric game this was. Wow, wow, wow, right.
- 30:55Matt Stafford goes 258 passing yards throughout.
- 30:57No TDs, no interceptions. Now that's like chocolate.
- 31:00That's like, Oh yeah, really good.
- 31:02But then I don't know about that because you're not doing any
- 31:05interceptions it was snowing I told you I've been another snow
- 31:07gaming. It was snowing there was snow on
- 31:09the field there No no T DS is a bit but no interceptions is just
- 31:14shows how clinical he can be. I'll cheers for that Callum.
- 31:20Now the comments are going to ruin me that start about the
- 31:22Seahawks, by the way, with second-half only.
- 31:24Cheers for that Callum Comments, research call time to research.
- 31:28OK. But yeah, anyway, going back
- 31:30into the the the Bears game. So we're going there.
- 31:35The the Rams offence came out, drove really well down field,
- 31:39letting Williams punch it in for a touchdown at first quarter.
- 31:41And then for me, the second and third quarter the the team just
- 31:46they lost that drive. They lost that bit of oomph
- 31:49about them. There were a few incomplete
- 31:51passes. They weren't really moving the
- 31:52ball on the on the ground to begin with for me, with just
- 31:57that second and third quarter, you could you could have taken
- 32:00out of the game and you'd probably not not even noticed in
- 32:03the highlights. There was nothing much to show
- 32:06from it. But then again, is it because it
- 32:09was outdoors? Ramsay's playing in a Dome is
- 32:12did the cold get to him? Did they get a bit throughout
- 32:17it? I don't know.
- 32:19But that being said that that Adam's catch in overtime was a
- 32:25thing of beauty and I've got I've got written down and
- 32:27actually in my notes Speaking of what we spoke about with about
- 32:29Drake way, rule 101 of the sideline throw, throw it away.
- 32:32Your guy can catch it on nobody. And as a up and coming QB as
- 32:36anyone that wants to study the game or, or or anything like
- 32:39that, you watch that throw on repeat and it doesn't get
- 32:42boring. It is phenomenal how good that
- 32:46ball was. But I mean, we're talking
- 32:49overtime now. There were four quarters prior
- 32:51to that. It were a great back and forth
- 32:54game. I do think for me, the Bears
- 32:59were the better team, but they just didn't execute right and
- 33:03there was a few mistakes on that.
- 33:05Now before I jump into the the Bears and the best starts
- 33:08because I'm going to glaze over Caleb Williams again.
- 33:11But like when we get into that in a second, one thing we spoke
- 33:15about previously on the show is special teams wins your games
- 33:19and a lot of people will come out and a lot of people don't
- 33:21know football. And the Walker, Oh my God, he's
- 33:23got this guy. His job's just kicking their
- 33:25ball kick. You're just, he walks out then
- 33:28kicks the ball, right. The thicker kicker, Mr Harrison
- 33:33Mevis came out after four hours of football, right slugging back
- 33:39and forth, boated a 42 yard field goal straight down middle
- 33:43at six and won the game. This is why special teams
- 33:47important because not only, yeah, you can run the ball up
- 33:50and down as much as you want, but if you're not hitting them
- 33:51field goals and you're not getting them extra points and
- 33:53you're not getting them game winners.
- 33:55It's it's crucial to the spot. And for me, seeing that, like a
- 34:01lot of people moan about when when the when it comes down,
- 34:05it's like a game when you feel goal.
- 34:06But for me, I just think it just shows that all, all areas of
- 34:10the, of the, the game is just so, so crucial, absolutely so
- 34:16crucial when it comes down to it, right?
- 34:19We're going to move on to the Caleb Williams Appreciation Club
- 34:21right now, right? This guy 2342 in the snow, 257
- 34:27yards in the snow, 2 touchdowns, 3 interceptions.
- 34:31One of them were on 1/4 down in all fairness, and it went
- 34:33straight through his his receiver's arms, right.
- 34:36The last one to DJ Moore were the laziest route I've ever seen
- 34:40DJ Moore running in his life right.
- 34:43So I'm giving you a bit of credit where credit's due there.
- 34:47The the the a player like Caleb to go from what it was last year
- 34:51to what he is this year is incredible.
- 34:53This guy is just excelling. I I dare you to find me a better
- 35:00touchdown than that Cole Comet one to send into overtime.
- 35:04It's the single. It's going to be the single
- 35:06greatest regulation play I've ever seen.
- 35:08If you if you were with your mate, right, you sat watching a
- 35:13football movie and that play happened on the movie.
- 35:16You turn team A and go. That never happens.
- 35:19That's the biggest load of squad I've ever seen in my life.
- 35:23That shit don't happen. The guy's backpedalling.
- 35:26He has what looks like the entirety of the 53 man roster
- 35:30running at him. He jumps, he throws the ball
- 35:34perfectly into the end zone for like he's like a 53 yard throw
- 35:38or something into goalkeeper's hands.
- 35:41Wow. If this Bears team continue
- 35:44commiserations for ending where it's ending now, I do think you
- 35:48were the better team. If this Bears team continues
- 35:51this momentum, they will be a scary team in the next year or
- 35:56two, or a scarier team in this next year or two.
- 35:59What do you reckon, Brad? I reckon that, ladies and
- 36:03gentlemen, you've just survived a three hour monologue by Zach.
- 36:10No, listen, listen, credit where the credit's due, mate.
- 36:13Like, you're absolutely right. And I agree with absolutely
- 36:15everything you said. Caleb Williams has, he's done it
- 36:19week after week actually, hasn't he?
- 36:20Like I think the last three, 4-5 weeks he's had like that throw
- 36:25or he's had, oh, did you see that touchdown?
- 36:28And he's just doing it consistently.
- 36:30Like from what it looked like last year where it was all like,
- 36:33oh, is he the real deal? Is he a bust?
- 36:35No, you can see glimpses of it. And this year, I mean, Ben
- 36:39Johnson just worked wonders with the Bears.
- 36:40But with Caleb especially, like he is firing on all cylinders.
- 36:44This is another game where the Bears have brought it back in
- 36:47the 4th to take it on to that next step.
- 36:51They just fell short. And like, Can you imagine the
- 36:53fairy tale if they were in the the championship game?
- 36:57Do I think they'd get to the Super Bowl?
- 37:00Probably not. I mean, they haven't, obviously,
- 37:02but they've had an absolute stormer of the year.
- 37:07They deserve all the credit they've got, especially after
- 37:10the years and years and years of purgatory for Bears fans.
- 37:16It's it's beautiful to see. But Caleb looks like the real
- 37:19deal with Ben Johnson. And long may it continue.
- 37:22It's nice. It's exciting that you know, the
- 37:24North is, is really dangerous. It's the for me next year that's
- 37:31looking like the division to watch.
- 37:34Yeah, fully, fully agree with you there mate.
- 37:37It's it's, it's good. It's nice.
- 37:41Not it's nice talking about different teams doing well, like
- 37:44the Seahawks, the Bears, the Texans are three teams that over
- 37:49the past three years, you probably thought, you know, they
- 37:52used to be good. You know, they used to be great.
- 37:55You know, the old legion of boom era was the the Pete Carroll era
- 37:58was the Seahawks, the JJ, what era was the Texans and all that.
- 38:02And then the the the shows rebuilding and just perseverance
- 38:06and, and, and things go with. But there is balls of the week.
- 38:10I don't want to talk too much. Oh, in fact, I don't know.
- 38:11I've got a fun fact for you, Brad, actually so fun fact about
- 38:16the Bears and Rams game. Sean Payton had the Rams put
- 38:21cayenne pepper in their socks to warm the feet up because
- 38:24apparently it's like a a reaction that happens to warm
- 38:27your feet up. KM Sean Payton.
- 38:30No, not Sean Payton move. This is my head it'd.
- 38:34Be pretty weird if Sean. Payton had that very sorry, but
- 38:37very my Sean Mouvey hadn't put the like.
- 38:39It's like a talcum powder and cayenne pepper mix in the socks
- 38:43to keep the feet warm. That's an interesting one.
- 38:47Don't you think the season? I was just thinking like about
- 38:49those teams that you were just mentioning that.
- 38:50Don't you think the season is very much like, you know, the
- 38:53there's the meme or like it's not a meme.
- 38:55It was like a picture of I think you've got was it Case Keenum?
- 38:59You got foals, Brady was in there, and then, God, it was it,
- 39:03I want to say bottles. 20/17/2018, that really strange
- 39:09year where it was just like weird anomaly quarterbacks.
- 39:12Actually the year that the Eagles won the Super Bowl, I
- 39:14believe, just to remind you of that one.
- 39:18Don't you think this year's like that?
- 39:20It's just the same sort of thing again, like these just random
- 39:23ass quarterbacks. I love it.
- 39:26It's great. It's just, it's just great to
- 39:28see. Who's the Brady?
- 39:29That's the question. Stafford.
- 39:32Stafford But you'd never you'd never compare what you thought
- 39:36it's. Got a is the MVP favourite.
- 39:39He's got the experience, the age on everybody else.
- 39:42He's just fucking good. Like he's, you know, he's he's
- 39:45he's just good. That for me would be would be
- 39:47what it is there. So yeah, they're the balls, the
- 39:50weekly. Reviewer Show Review our
- 39:53predictions, Zach. Let's get into our predictions,
- 39:55mate. All right, let's get into his
- 39:57predictions, shall we? Boom.
- 40:02Predictions are now alive. Look, Buffalo Denver.
- 40:10Let's go get that. Buffalo, Denver, 3033.
- 40:13I printed that research cow predicted that.
- 40:15San Francio research. Cow predicted that mean you
- 40:19didn't. Texans, New England.
- 40:23My heart predicted that, but we didn't predict anything.
- 40:27OK, my heart predicted that, but we didn't predict anything.
- 40:30And then the LA Rams and the Chicago Bears, both you and
- 40:34researcher Cal predicted them. So that puts us this week on the
- 40:38following. You were one and three, Cal were
- 40:42three and one. I were one and three.
- 40:46I mean, that's. A poor week you can see what.
- 40:48For us, you can you can you can see why he's the brains behind
- 40:51Gaia like you know, it's it's one of them.
- 40:55But on these predictions as well.
- 40:56Guys, if you want to get involved with these predictions,
- 40:57come into our YouTube channel, hit on the the comment box box
- 41:02below. Fire your predictions in for
- 41:04next week and we'll talk about it.
- 41:05Fire any sort of takes that you think we've missed as well
- 41:09everything's coming here over there.
- 41:10If you listen to this, by the way, on audio, we do have a
- 41:13video version on both Spotify and on YouTube at ABNF pod
- 41:18across all of the socials. Come on fire over there.
- 41:20Get involved with the chat as well.
- 41:21I got it right this week, Brad. I got it right this week.
- 41:24Yeah. So I think next year we're going
- 41:26to do these predictions over the season as well and can tell it
- 41:30helps with nice to get you guys involved like an audience tally
- 41:33as well. So that'll be pretty cool to get
- 41:34involved with. But this week, me and Brad one
- 41:37and three, Carl three and one. That's why he's locked in a in
- 41:39the box somewhere. You know one of them.
- 41:42Right. Then let's get into the next
- 41:44part of the evening. So the coaching carousel, it
- 41:51continues. Where are we currently?
- 41:54Let's have a look at it. This is the list so far.
- 41:58OK, so there are four coaches being hired, all right.
- 42:02And across them, the Titans have got a coach, the Giants have got
- 42:05a coach, Falcons have got a coach, and your beloved Dolphins
- 42:08have got a coach. How many of them four people
- 42:12regret signing the contract now I.
- 42:16Think you've got two big names there who definitely regret it.
- 42:20You know, it's got to be Harbaugh and Stefanski.
- 42:22They're the big names out that they were the big names of this
- 42:24cycle. Harbaugh.
- 42:27Flip side to that, sorry, right, sorry.
- 42:31Flip side to that, when Harbaugh became a free agent, as such,
- 42:37there was there was reports from Shefter that teams were reaching
- 42:41out to him that had a head coach.
- 42:45Do you think the Bills reached out to him and said, look, if we
- 42:52don't get past, if we don't get through to the the championship
- 42:55game, we're going to be reassessing.
- 43:01Do you think they reached out to him because because that firing
- 43:03of the Bills was an overnight. That was that was an overnight
- 43:07decision. No, it it won't have been.
- 43:11But at the same time, I think if you harbour and you've had the
- 43:15bills reach out to you, throwing that out there.
- 43:19I mean, he could he could have waited as long as he wanted.
- 43:22He could have waited until this game or he could have waited
- 43:24until next weekend. I think if McDermott gets to the
- 43:27Super Bowl, there's no way he's getting fired.
- 43:29But you know, when did he sign? Just before the weekend, was it
- 43:35or over the weekend? He could have had another
- 43:39another week at least research. Carl's chiming in and he's
- 43:43echoing my exact thoughts. I think it was the Dolphins.
- 43:47The reports are that it wasn't. But considering those reports
- 43:51came out and then I think it was the next day or the day after
- 43:54that that Mike McDaniel was then fired, that to me makes more
- 43:58sense. But I don't know.
- 44:02It's, I don't, we'll never know, will we?
- 44:04Let's be honest. But I think of these 4 hirings,
- 44:06you know, you've got Harbaugh going to the Giants.
- 44:08It makes sense. It was kind of writing on the
- 44:09wall really, wasn't it? Once, you know, the sort of dust
- 44:12settled of the firings, it was wide widely reported that that
- 44:17was going to happen. You got Stefan's given to the
- 44:19Falcons, which is interesting. They've got, you know, arguably
- 44:22the best player in football. A lot of potential there.
- 44:27It makes sense. I think Stefanski could do some
- 44:29really good work with the Falcons.
- 44:32Sala to the Titans is interesting.
- 44:34A defensive coach with Cam Ward, an interest in hire.
- 44:41You know, there's lots of reports and we've seen it this
- 44:43year and with it, the NFL is going through that transition.
- 44:45It goes through every five to six years where, you know, the
- 44:48defence catches up, so everyone wants a defensive coach and then
- 44:52the offence then starts to outsmart the new defensive
- 44:54strategies and everyone wants an offensive coach and it's just
- 44:56cycle, cycle, cycle. So, you know, I kind of get the
- 45:01attraction of a defensive coach to a point, but I think when
- 45:05you've got first round QB and sorry, first pick of the first
- 45:12round QB and Cam Ward, who's meant to be the real deal, he
- 45:15showed glimpses of it towards the back end of the season.
- 45:17Obviously needs a lot of time to develop.
- 45:19It's just it's an interesting hire.
- 45:20I don't think it's a bad hire, you know, I think.
- 45:23I agree. It's not a terrible coach at
- 45:25all. I mean, any coach that goes to
- 45:28The Jets is going to struggle in my opinion, but I don't think
- 45:31he's a terrible coach at all. It'll be interesting to see who
- 45:35he brings in as the OC Callum stay in there in the background.
- 45:39He thinks he'll bring bring Kubiak along from the 49ers.
- 45:43Time will tell. And then obviously you've got
- 45:46Jeff Haffley DC from Green Bay. Makes sense with our GM hire.
- 45:51Not blown away with that hire personally, but the, the
- 45:55positive for me is that you've got AGM and a head coach who you
- 46:01would assume are going to be in lock step, you know, through
- 46:05the, through the whole process, which is what you need,
- 46:07especially if some teams do it differently, don't they?
- 46:10But generally GM has the the say over the actual personnel and
- 46:14it's the coach job to make it work.
- 46:15So if you've got two guys who are working hand in hand and
- 46:18have worked together clearly and hopefully it's a good thing.
- 46:23But just for me as a Dolphins fan, I just wish we could grab
- 46:26someone who's not first time head coach.
- 46:28I think it's been seven in a row or maybe eight in a row now.
- 46:31First time head coaches. It's just it's, it's a tough
- 46:36experience. For once.
- 46:38Everyone needs a first gig but you when you're doing 7UP
- 46:40bounces you realise it's not working.
- 46:42Sometimes getting some experience in isn't a bad thing.
- 46:45But with them far I've been hired, the Browns have still got
- 46:48vacancies that the Raiders, the Cardinals, the Ravens, the
- 46:51Steelers and the Bills. Now, if you if I said to you at
- 46:53the start of this season, bro, and you know what, next season
- 46:55we might do a bit of a daft poll, for instance, or like a
- 46:59daft prediction. If I said to you that Harbaugh
- 47:02after 17 seasons would not be the Ravens.
- 47:05Tomlin after 19 seasons wouldn't be the Steelers.
- 47:08McDermott wouldn't be at the Bills, them three jobs would
- 47:14have been available at the end of the year.
- 47:19Would you believe me? That's the most.
- 47:21Imagine if you put a bet on that.
- 47:24Imagine if you didn't put a bet on that.
- 47:27Exactly. So that that all that all vacant
- 47:31there. Just having a quick look now
- 47:33through some of the interviews that have been held.
- 47:36So we've got a few teams here that have had a few interviews.
- 47:38We've got the the names up on the screen now.
- 47:39So if you have listened this audio wise, like I said, guys,
- 47:41YouTube and Spotify, you can see everything all the graphics
- 47:44there. Should I pick a few names out
- 47:46from each one and see what crack is on this Browns who's been
- 47:49interviewed so far? Big the two big names for me on
- 47:52this would be Mike McDaniel and Jesse Minter.
- 47:56I don't see Daniel getting another head coaching job
- 47:59personally. I think he's think he needs.
- 48:00I think he's going back to be back, back to being in our seat
- 48:02personally. But for me.
- 48:05He's getting a lot of interviews though, for head coach, isn't
- 48:07he? He's getting a lot of.
- 48:09I know they've got to go through the process and I know they need
- 48:11so many coaches and they need to need to meet this rule and that
- 48:14rule. But it surprised me actually how
- 48:16many interviews he's getting for the head coach.
- 48:19I said last week didn't I think he'd be better dropping back to
- 48:22OC, rebuilding that credibility, which I don't think he's
- 48:25entirely lost, to be honest. I think people can see that the
- 48:29Dolphins aren't necessarily the best organisation or haven't had
- 48:32the best GM in in, you know, supporting the organisation or
- 48:36leading the organisation. But.
- 48:39You've had 8 consecutive first time head coaches for the for
- 48:44the Dolphins. Thank you very much for research
- 48:45Karl. And coming in there with the
- 48:47odds as well. Grant Odinsky, the Judge OC,
- 48:51he's the current favourite for the Browns.
- 48:54Before we move on to the next team being the Raiders.
- 48:56Anything on the Browns interviewees so far?
- 48:59I just don't think it's an appealing place to go and coach
- 49:04really. I mean, anyone's going to go
- 49:06through that if they're going to get a head coach opportunity
- 49:08because why the hell wouldn't you know?
- 49:09That's your dream. You know, you do it and you try
- 49:11your best. But I just, I just think it's
- 49:14probably one of the least attractive places, maybe even
- 49:20less attractive than the Raiders.
- 49:22I think the Raiders have got a few bits going for them, to be
- 49:25honest. You know, they've got some nice
- 49:27players interest, you've got the Tom Brady link, blah, blah,
- 49:30blah. But yeah, I think Browns is
- 49:32probably the least attractive spot for me.
- 49:36We move on to the Raiders now, right?
- 49:38And I've seen a lot of traction these past couple of days, today
- 49:44in particular on X about the Raiders going all in on Lamar
- 49:51Jackson. Don't know how true it is, but
- 49:55there's a lot of accounts kind of pushing it out there that
- 49:59there's a there's a lot of traction going for Lamar
- 50:02Jackson. There there's a few names been
- 50:04interviewed, Matt Nagy, Vance Joseph, Mike Lafleur, Mike
- 50:08McDaniel. Again, there some of the the
- 50:11names for me, Chris Shuler, There's some big names getting
- 50:13interviewed for this Raiders job.
- 50:14They, you know, and to entice these people in for these
- 50:19interviews, they're going to have to be feeding him some sort
- 50:23of here's our plan kind of spiel.
- 50:26I just can't. See how I just can't see how the
- 50:30Ravens would fire Harbour and then shift on Lamar.
- 50:34Sure. Just that would just seem
- 50:36completely backwards to me. Like there was loads of
- 50:38reporting before Harbour was fired that Lamar might be going
- 50:41back to Miami, back back home and this that and the other.
- 50:43And then Harbour got fired and then that was the last you ever
- 50:46heard of it. You know, on this obviously
- 50:48accounts that I see a lot of, I just can't see.
- 50:51I completely agree with you, but I just can't see how the Ravens
- 50:56fire harbour and trade away Lamar and then try and recruit a
- 51:00head coach coach so he does. We've got nothing.
- 51:04Yeah, same. But I just think there's got to
- 51:07be something, there's got to be something there like to entice
- 51:12these people. The Raiders were so bad this
- 51:14year. They were so, so bad this year.
- 51:18And to have arguably the longest list of names other than the
- 51:23Ravens at this moment in time of interviewees.
- 51:25It was coming down if I rang you up and said I wanted to an
- 51:29interview for for head coach down at Raiders.
- 51:32You know, if it's if it's a bad team, you as much as you might
- 51:35want a head coaching role, there's probably other jobs out
- 51:38there that you're going to get less, less shit for online, more
- 51:42satisfaction where when you're when you're not getting beat
- 51:45week in, week out because your team don't want to play
- 51:47together. The thing is about the Raven,
- 51:48the Raiders, sorry for me is that they've got so many studs
- 51:52on the team that just don't play well together.
- 51:55It's like the team's curse that you put that, that, that jersey
- 51:59and it's like, yeah, I can't. I'm going to play for myself,
- 52:01man. Just do nothing for the team.
- 52:03But that's a coaching issue, isn't it?
- 52:05You've got to as if you go in and and applying or interviewing
- 52:09rather for like head coaching jobs, you've got to believe that
- 52:12you can go and fix that problem because you're right.
- 52:16They've got studs all over and you've got to believe that
- 52:20you're the guy to do it. It's an interesting one.
- 52:24I think there's the there's the sort of overhanging thing of
- 52:28Brady isn't that and he's only a minority owner.
- 52:30Everyone says he's pulling all the shots, but I don't know how
- 52:33much he's really doing. He's our show.
- 52:36He's our. Show knows him, won't he?
- 52:37But I think he's, yeah, he's not going to be running the
- 52:39day-to-day. No way.
- 52:42Well, but it just yeah, there were national championships,
- 52:45weren't there? Sorry, sorry about that.
- 52:47There were there were there were national championships watching
- 52:51Mendoza, who's obviously going to be the pick because the need
- 52:55of QB for it and he's a quote unquote generational.
- 52:58Q better you love that one. There's a generational QB, but
- 53:03every year, every year. So the Raiders there.
- 53:05We've got the list up on the screen now.
- 53:07So we've got the whites of Matt Nagy, like I said, Mike, the
- 53:09floor, Matt McDaniel, Chris Schuler, amongst other names up
- 53:12there. We're moving on now to the
- 53:13Arizona Cardinals. This is the job that the team
- 53:17just needs a shake up. I think Marvin Harrison junior
- 53:20needs to get out of that team. I think the team just needs kind
- 53:22of bending off and re rostering completely because they're on a
- 53:26fast track to be the next Browns in my opinion at the Cardinals.
- 53:30Quite a shortish list of of names, Vance Joseph being the
- 53:35favourite to take this role, but also Chris shows on this as
- 53:37well. Just a minute, Raheem Morris as
- 53:39well on this. Not much to say about the
- 53:44Cardinals over then. Good luck to whoever goes in
- 53:46there because they're on a fast track down in my personal
- 53:48opinion, which is a shame. And where does Kyla Murray go
- 53:51next year? Who knows?
- 53:54There's a lot of unknowns with this team in there.
- 53:56That's it, That's it, right? Moving on to the Baltimore
- 54:00Ravens, one of the hot spots for this offseason, now in
- 54:04contention with the Bills. A lot of names on here, a lot of
- 54:07names that we've seen already. Jesse Minter is the favourite
- 54:12for this job role. I'd like Cliff Kings where
- 54:16they're me. I must admit, I think he's got
- 54:17an exciting mind and seeing him with Willamar would be nice to
- 54:21see. But hey, look, I don't own the
- 54:23team. It would definitely be
- 54:26interesting. I think he deserves a shot.
- 54:28And The thing is, we Ravens, like they're arguably one of the
- 54:32best run organisations in the NFL, aren't they?
- 54:35Like they, they make decisions in the right way.
- 54:38They've made some questionable decisions standing by
- 54:40questionable people until they've got no other choice.
- 54:44But that aside, I think they do things right.
- 54:48I think they approach the draughts really well.
- 54:51I think they have employed generally very well.
- 54:56They sign free agents very well. They're just a really attractive
- 55:01team to play for. And then you add Lamar into the
- 55:03mix and it's it's a no brainer. Seeing someone like Cliff would
- 55:07be quite interesting there. But I just don't know if the
- 55:09Ravens would go for a character like him.
- 55:12But he's got his credibility back like we spoke about.
- 55:15So maybe, maybe. That's it, that's it.
- 55:19All right, moving on now to the Pittsburgh Steelers about final
- 55:23team that we look on with the coaching carousel because the
- 55:25Bills were so recent. We're still waiting to hear some
- 55:28news from there. Again, another exciting team to
- 55:30go with a lot of potential within there.
- 55:32Who knows what a rod's going to do.
- 55:33I think he's kind of waiting for who's who gets hired next.
- 55:36It wouldn't surprise me if I had a bit of influence in it, but
- 55:40it, you know, it's one of them. The Bills, the the Steelers have
- 55:44always had that mid round pick. So they've never had a good
- 55:46enough pick to get a generational QB, quote unquote,
- 55:50or, or a generational player at the top, top of the, of the
- 55:53draft side of things. So it's going to be tough for
- 55:58him going forward, but they've got a few names on the board
- 56:00there. The current favourite for the
- 56:01Steelers is Marcus Freeman purse bet 365 again, Mike McCarthy as
- 56:07well. He's been linked here across
- 56:09numerous sources and I think that would be a good.
- 56:11I don't think Mike McCaffrey McCarthy, sorry, is unemployed
- 56:15next year. I think he's working somewhere,
- 56:18don't know where, but I think he's working somewhere and the
- 56:20Steelers, I'm sure he like he's even from or he's been that way
- 56:24on. He's done a lot of work over
- 56:25that way. I think it'd be a nice, I think
- 56:28it'd be a nice fit for him being on that side of things.
- 56:36So if you're hiring a coach this season and you've got the names
- 56:39available to you, let's not think about the team.
- 56:40This is just you. Do you.
- 56:42First of all, do you hire a first time head coach or someone
- 56:47with experience? And is there a name that stands
- 56:50out? To you.
- 56:52But this is what I want, this is what I want to talk to you
- 56:54about, about the bill situation. I don't think there's enough
- 56:56good names out there that would change my organisation.
- 57:00I think the good names out there that are 10 year head coaches
- 57:07and the likes of Harbour and Stefanski who are still within
- 57:12the age of the career where you think you could get a good five
- 57:14to 10 years out of them. The rest of the the rest of the
- 57:17coaches, I'm still a bit like unsure because you see a lot of
- 57:22the time OCS will come up and they'll go as head coaches and
- 57:25our DCS will come up and go as head coaches and they're just
- 57:27not good enough. And they know this.
- 57:28Look at Josh Mcdanielson from the the pages.
- 57:31He went, he went and jumped in and he weren't good enough like
- 57:34twice. He's twice exactly.
- 57:36He he weren't good enough and he's got, he's gone back down to
- 57:39being OC now and he's doing an absolutely phenomenal job of it.
- 57:42I just think for me, if I'm if I'm doing it, I don't know.
- 57:48I think your draft is a big a big part on obviously what how
- 57:53old your QB is. If I'm the Steelers, I'd be
- 57:55really worried because you've got a really old QB with not
- 57:59necessarily there's no QBs in this draft over them like what
- 58:03Mendoza and and Beck like. I don't see many more top 10
- 58:13NFLQ BS coming through or predicted coming through.
- 58:16And what do you do with free agent to why do you look at
- 58:21someone like Kylie Murray or something like that where you
- 58:23can bring somebody in our tour, for instance, but you've got the
- 58:25contract here. I think as a coach, if I'm
- 58:28looking for a coach, sorry, I don't know.
- 58:30I don't know. I, I think experience beats what
- 58:32everyone needs to get experience.
- 58:36I don't know, I think a Cardinals style of team you take
- 58:40first time head coach. I think if you're Ravens, Bills,
- 58:45potentially Steelers, you want in that experience to movie team
- 58:50on I. Think you can throw Steelers
- 58:52into the same boat as the Cardinals?
- 58:53They just need a big shake up. They've not got a QB.
- 58:56Rogers is obviously free agent. I can't see him playing another
- 58:59season, not at the Steelers at least.
- 59:02Maybe he'll try and throw his hat in the ring somewhere else
- 59:03again because let's be honest, he just can't see his own
- 59:08reflection in the mirror. But I think I think you're right
- 59:13with the Ravens. I think you're right with the
- 59:16Bills, I think they go for experience and I think a lot of
- 59:20the others will go for first timers and give them an
- 59:22opportunity to build a bit of a team and see how they go.
- 59:25I mean, does it? The proof is generally it
- 59:28doesn't work, but it does as well.
- 59:30You know, Sean McVay, he was the first time head coach.
- 59:34He was the youngest ever head coach I believe when he took
- 59:38over the Rams. You got KFC who's done really
- 59:40well in Minnesota. Obviously a bit of a down year
- 59:43this year, but generally pretty well respected.
- 59:46So it does work, It works, but you've just got a hit on the
- 59:49right person, aren't you? That's it.
- 59:51That's it. I just, yeah, it's for them, for
- 59:54me, I think. I mean, there's been an alarming
- 59:58amount of coach roles available this year, but I don't think
- 1:00:01there's an alarming amount of good coaches about to take over
- 1:00:05them roles. So someone's going to have to
- 1:00:06take the hit on that basically so.
- 1:00:11Right, let's move on to the championship round games of this
- 1:00:14week, mate. We're going to have a look
- 1:00:16through at the two games coming up as we are getting to crunch
- 1:00:19time now of the season and we're going to have a bit of a talk
- 1:00:22and chat, a prediction going into next week as to who we're
- 1:00:26going to see in the Super Bowl. So up first we have the AFC
- 1:00:32Championship round, the New England Patriots are playing at
- 1:00:34the Denver Broncos. Thoughts.
- 1:00:37Predictions. What do you reckon mate?
- 1:00:40I think if you'd have asked me this, you know, these two teams
- 1:00:44are going to go to the championship round before Bo
- 1:00:47Nicks was injured, I think I would have said the Broncos.
- 1:00:52And you know, I'm not going to, I'm not going to bash the
- 1:00:56Patriots again. I've said what I need to say.
- 1:00:58But I think we'd stood them at quarterback and Patriots have
- 1:01:03played well this season. They have, and they're on a roll
- 1:01:06and they've got the momentum behind them and they've got the
- 1:01:08team they want. I see.
- 1:01:11I still see a tighter game than they'd want, yeah, but I think
- 1:01:15I'm predicting a Patriots victory in this one.
- 1:01:20Yes, I would like to say I agree with you.
- 1:01:22I do agree with you. I think, I think, I think the
- 1:01:27the Denver defence will hold back the Patriots offence, but I
- 1:01:30think it'd be a very similar situation to what happened
- 1:01:32against the Texans. I don't think the offence, I
- 1:01:34don't think Stidham will keep the defence off the field enough
- 1:01:37to allow them to rest, to allow any sort of movement.
- 1:01:41I think Stidham will struggle. I think especially in the first
- 1:01:44half, I think that's where that's where they're going to,
- 1:01:47they're going to excel more than anything else.
- 1:01:49Patriots. And that's been a big issue for
- 1:01:50us. We've start strong end week or
- 1:01:53start week and end strong. I think if we come out the the
- 1:01:55gates like running this week in the first two quarters, I think
- 1:01:59it'd be a big issue for Denver because if Stidham can't get
- 1:02:04going, if you can't get that ball moving, if you can't get
- 1:02:06that progression and read through his reads, I just think
- 1:02:09they're going to struggle long term and it and in that game,
- 1:02:11and it's a shame to see. I mean that I do because Denver
- 1:02:16have been so excited to watch this year and the impartial side
- 1:02:19meets the so, so exciting to watch. 2 weeks ago I said the
- 1:02:23same thing about I said last week, sorry, I said the same
- 1:02:27thing about Houston. My heart says that we're going
- 1:02:28to win. My head says we're not going to
- 1:02:30win because they're just the defence is so good.
- 1:02:32And I said the exact same if we'd have played against Denver
- 1:02:34last week. I just think the QB is just not
- 1:02:38there for it for me personally. Yeah, I think so.
- 1:02:42I mean, there's the old saying, wasn't there a good few years
- 1:02:46back? It was with the Legion of Boom
- 1:02:47with Seahawks and and Broncos at that same sort of period as
- 1:02:51well. Like defence wins championships,
- 1:02:54no complimentary football wins championships.
- 1:02:57And I think you're absolutely right.
- 1:02:59You know, the Broncos D are up there and they'll put, they'll
- 1:03:02put a fight in, but they're going to tie it.
- 1:03:04They're absolutely, I mean, the Patriots themselves have got I
- 1:03:06think the 8th ranked defence, I think somewhere in that
- 1:03:10vicinity. So I think you've got the
- 1:03:12advantage that New England are playing complementary football
- 1:03:16and in a championship game that really matters.
- 1:03:18I just can't, you know what, like it'd be great to see
- 1:03:23Stidham do it. It really would.
- 1:03:24It'd be. And this isn't a shot of
- 1:03:26Patriots. It's just it's always good to
- 1:03:28see the underdog do well. Like look how nuts everyone went
- 1:03:31for Falls when he won that Super Bowl or even just when he got
- 1:03:34them there. It'd be so cool to see that
- 1:03:37again, but I just don't see it. I see Patriots taking this one.
- 1:03:41I don't think it's going to be a walkover, or if it is, I think
- 1:03:44it's going to be sort of garbage time touchdowns.
- 1:03:49I just think I don't, I just don't see a way that patriots
- 1:03:53don't don't make it this year now.
- 1:03:57I agree, but that worries me because of the next game, the
- 1:04:01Los Angeles round in the Seahawks, which is arguable the
- 1:04:03Super Bowl that everyone wants that nobody can have.
- 1:04:06OK, right. It's, it's that, it's that Page
- 1:04:093 model that you look at in the paper and you know you're never
- 1:04:12going to have, right? It's it's that it's on paper the
- 1:04:15most exciting game I think of the past few weeks in
- 1:04:21particular. I just think, I think it's got
- 1:04:23all the, all the especially how good Seahawks are at the moment
- 1:04:25with their momentum. It's got all like the, the marks
- 1:04:28have just been an absolute storm of a game.
- 1:04:30It could be a record-breaking game for all different types of
- 1:04:34reasons. For me personally, I think the
- 1:04:37Seahawks too good. I think the Seahawks beat the
- 1:04:40Rams. I think they're beaten by two
- 1:04:43touchdowns at long run. I want the Rams to beat them
- 1:04:46because if we do get to the Super Bowl, the last team I want
- 1:04:50to play is the Seahawks because I fear, I fear for our Super
- 1:04:58Bowl party if we are playing the Seahawks.
- 1:05:01Oh, I'm coming down with a bit. I'm coming down with a bit of an
- 1:05:03headache already. I think you know that, that it's
- 1:05:06just one of them. It's for them.
- 1:05:08What do you reckon on that game mate?
- 1:05:10It's it's really tough to call probably the hardest game of any
- 1:05:16obviously divisional rivals that played each other twice.
- 1:05:19I think they've shared the spoils in that.
- 1:05:21I'm sure they both won one each in that.
- 1:05:24It's really, really tough to see.
- 1:05:28I think arguably as an all round team, Seahawks are probably edge
- 1:05:32it. I just think the experience of
- 1:05:37McVeigh and the experience of Stafford could edge this one
- 1:05:42out. I think you might end up with
- 1:05:44Dan or bless him. And again, I'd love to see the
- 1:05:47underdog go to the Super Bowl, but I think the lack of
- 1:05:50experience in these sort of games.
- 1:05:54So I'm going to go out there and I'm going to predict a Rams
- 1:05:58victory and the Super Bowl will be a replay of New England and
- 1:06:04Rams replay of 2019 with Rams taking the Super Bowl.
- 1:06:11OK, OK, I like it. I like it.
- 1:06:14So there are predictions for the the championship round coming up
- 1:06:17this weekend. Hopefully we're in for a good
- 1:06:21weekend of football and we'll be reviewing it next week on the
- 1:06:24pod as well. So as well guys, let us know in
- 1:06:26the comments below whether it's on socials, Instagram, Twitter,
- 1:06:30all that jazz. We've got the socials everywhere
- 1:06:33at ABNF pod. Let us know your prediction as
- 1:06:36well. And our head of the YouTube
- 1:06:37channel and do the exact same there.
- 1:06:39We're going to get into our next segment of the evening, one that
- 1:06:43I'm looking forward to. We're going to get into wives
- 1:06:46words, right, Brad? Wise words, take us away.
- 1:06:52What is it? What's today?
- 1:06:53Well, let's get it up and have a look.
- 1:06:56So wives words is where the three of us ask our better
- 1:07:00halves a question relating to the game of American football.
- 1:07:05This could be absolutely anything about the game, about
- 1:07:09teams. And we ask them to anonymously
- 1:07:13answer the question. And so we haven't seen this, We
- 1:07:18haven't seen the answers. And what we've gone for this
- 1:07:21year is a nice, simple one. All.
- 1:07:24We have to do is this year, sorry this week, although it is
- 1:07:28the first one this year, so. Yeah, yeah, this.
- 1:07:31Week, we asked the girls to guess the team name from the
- 1:07:38logo, so we wanted the full team name and the example I gave was
- 1:07:43Miami Dolphins. So location and mascot, now
- 1:07:46that'd be too easy. So we've not used the Miami
- 1:07:48Dolphins. The first one we've gone for is
- 1:07:52the LA Chargers logo. So Zach, if you haven't already,
- 1:07:57can you bring up their responses?
- 1:08:01It's already up there right now. So the wise word gets the logo
- 1:08:04with LA charges bolt on the screen for any confusion is the
- 1:08:08LA Chargers. The Los Angeles Chargers would
- 1:08:12be the name there. So we have the North Carolina
- 1:08:15Thunderbolts. It's a college name and half as
- 1:08:19a high school name. And I shall say we have the
- 1:08:21Seattle Thundercats in brackets, definitely.
- 1:08:26And then we have the Chicago Flashing Bolts.
- 1:08:31So, OK, which one's your favourite?
- 1:08:36Which are my favourite? The North Carolina Thunderbolts
- 1:08:38all day long. I mean, the North Carolina
- 1:08:40Thunderbolts is probably the one that is probably the most
- 1:08:44believable. Yeah.
- 1:08:46Now I am just thinking though, Seattle Thundercats.
- 1:08:49Now that's a mega team name that is.
- 1:08:52Thunder, you know, just think I love that the scream the scream
- 1:08:55Friday Night Lights. It's just high school football
- 1:08:58names. Yeah, they do it just screams
- 1:08:59high school football names. It's great.
- 1:09:02Any anything standing out to you that would that would like make
- 1:09:07you think, oh, you're, you're, you're a better ass, said this
- 1:09:10one. You know what's interesting
- 1:09:13actually just before sort of doing that is that all three
- 1:09:17have almost, if we get rid of the North have actually located
- 1:09:22accurate team locations, first of all, which is impressive.
- 1:09:29I would go for. I've got my, I've got my 3.
- 1:09:38I think North Carolina Thunderbolts would be from my
- 1:09:45household. I would say Chicago Flashing
- 1:09:51Bolts would be from your household.
- 1:09:53Zack and the Seattle Thundercats brackets, definitely.
- 1:09:57I'm not sure what that bit's about would be.
- 1:10:00From research Cals, they're my guesses.
- 1:10:04See. They would be my guesses also.
- 1:10:09Cal, can you please in the chat reveal the correct answers?
- 1:10:19Anticipation waiting for research.
- 1:10:20Callie's typing underbolts is from CALS.
- 1:10:27Oh. Thundercats from mine and we
- 1:10:30nailed on flashing bolts. Wow, OK, OK, we're not.
- 1:10:36That's not too bad that that's not too bad.
- 1:10:38But after the next logo, which quickly just two second chat on
- 1:10:43these logos because there's a reason why we chose logos this
- 1:10:45year that this week you've got me saying yeah, now this week
- 1:10:48because last time we did a like a ruling 1 and we want to kind
- 1:10:52of help out. Brad, your camera's gone.
- 1:11:00You still there? Yeah, but just we get this back
- 1:11:04up here. Oh, there we go.
- 1:11:06We've got your back up and running now.
- 1:11:08Don't know what happened there. We said a bit of a technical
- 1:11:10issue, but we're going to get into the next one now, which
- 1:11:13will be the next logo that we sent to our lovely better
- 1:11:17halves. Which is who?
- 1:11:19Brad? So the next logo we sent, again,
- 1:11:22we tried to keep it interesting, not too obvious.
- 1:11:25We went for the Houston Texans logo.
- 1:11:30So with the Houston Texans here, we have three possible answers.
- 1:11:34We have the Texas Bowls, which that's easy, reliable, Yeah, the
- 1:11:41Pennsylvania American Bowls, and then we have the Texan Bowls.
- 1:11:49So we have the Texas Bulls and the Texan Bowls.
- 1:11:53That's that's tough. Two very similar ones there.
- 1:11:57The Pennsylvania American Bulls is an interesting one.
- 1:12:02I'm not quite sure where the Pennsylvania American bit comes
- 1:12:08from over the maybe the staff, the American bit, but I think
- 1:12:12the link to Texas and Texan is obvious.
- 1:12:16It's the the star from the Texan flag, the Lone Star, isn't it?
- 1:12:22I think they call it. Yeah, I'm going.
- 1:12:26To go, go on. Sorry, go.
- 1:12:28On you go first. OK.
- 1:12:30So for me I would say Texas bulls, my household,
- 1:12:34Pennsylvania American bulls is cow's household and the Texan
- 1:12:41bulls yours. Now the reason why is because I
- 1:12:45think my household would have seen the bull and gone down the
- 1:12:49cowboy kind of route, Yellowstone kind of route and
- 1:12:53would more know Texas than Texan.
- 1:12:57And if I like, you know, that's that's the way I've gone down
- 1:13:01with mine. Anyway, What about yourself?
- 1:13:02What's what's your your view on this one?
- 1:13:05And then I can get, we can get Carl can get them ready to send
- 1:13:08in. I think so.
- 1:13:15Mine I feel is confident with the geographical knowledge.
- 1:13:19So I definitely would go with Texas or Texan.
- 1:13:24I'm going to go Texas from my household just because that is a
- 1:13:29location, a specific location, whereas Texan is what you would
- 1:13:33call somebody from that location.
- 1:13:37I'm going to agree with you on the Pennsylvania bull, American
- 1:13:40bulls being from Cal's household and I'm basically flipping
- 1:13:44hours, I think. And Texan bulls from yours,
- 1:13:48that's where I'm going. Oh, so Texas bullies mine.
- 1:13:56Pennsylvania American Bulls is Carl's and Texan Bull Tex Yeah.
- 1:14:01Texan Bulls is yours. 3 for three on that one.
- 1:14:05Right? Just right.
- 1:14:07Quickly on these logos, it just goes to show that the logos can
- 1:14:13mean absolutely nothing. So there's some logos that I've
- 1:14:15got the name and I want to touch on that.
- 1:14:17Like at what point with your logo, with your branding, if you
- 1:14:21were creating a team and you were creating a logo, would you
- 1:14:23put your location and name on that?
- 1:14:26For reasons like we're showing now.
- 1:14:28If you're new to the spot and you're, you're looking around
- 1:14:31and you're like, well, I don't know.
- 1:14:34I don't know who are these teams are or where, where they're from
- 1:14:37or anything like that. Would you, would you include
- 1:14:38your like geographical location or name or something on the logo
- 1:14:42that kind of told you where they were?
- 1:14:45I like having alternate versions personally.
- 1:14:49So like I like having a version where you can include the name
- 1:14:53and the name is branded and I like versions where you can have
- 1:14:56that without. I also there's there's a few
- 1:15:00teams that do quite well where they have like alternate logos.
- 1:15:03I know the Ravens, for example, they've obviously got the Ravens
- 1:15:05head, but then they've got their their Crest, which I don't.
- 1:15:09I won't pretend to know the full background about my friend.
- 1:15:11Gaz has probably told me a million times.
- 1:15:13But I like that. It's like something that's
- 1:15:16unique to them. It's not their main logo, but
- 1:15:18it's it's a branding that that links to them.
- 1:15:22I do like that. I think I would say no,
- 1:15:26especially in an American sport such as the NFL, where those
- 1:15:29teams relocate so often. Think about the Raiders, think
- 1:15:33about the Chargers. You know, they their logos don't
- 1:15:38have the the name in them. And when they relocated, nothing
- 1:15:43changed. Literally nothing changed in
- 1:15:44terms of their logo. You've got the Rams who
- 1:15:47relocated recently, their logo. They have changed their logo
- 1:15:51since, but they sort of like tweets, the colours and things
- 1:15:55both times they've moved. But I like that the Raiders,
- 1:15:59it's still the Raiders. We've just moved a little bit
- 1:16:02which is weird for UK fans to get their heads around and I
- 1:16:05still find it bizarre, but I think now without the name makes
- 1:16:09more sense to me I think. Yeah, and I think from it's been
- 1:16:15a fun for so long and we're watching watching the sport for
- 1:16:18so long. You can I'll look at a logo and
- 1:16:20I'll know straight away. But you put a basketball logo in
- 1:16:22front of me and I've got no idea at all as to as to what's what
- 1:16:27on that. But it's, it's one of them for
- 1:16:31me. I, I can kind of see from a
- 1:16:34layman's point of view, if you were looking around, let's say,
- 1:16:39let's say Miami's going to be a hard one because the Dolphins
- 1:16:41are such a recognisable team. But let's say you've been to
- 1:16:43Miami on a holiday as a, as a kid or whatever, and you start
- 1:16:45getting into the sport and you think, oh, well, I went to Miami
- 1:16:48as a kid. And you start looking at the NFL
- 1:16:50list and you don't know who's who.
- 1:16:51Because I, I agree if you don't want too much of A cluster logo,
- 1:16:56but I would just see what your view was on having that.
- 1:16:59But that's wise words. And they're bringing a bit of
- 1:17:03sense into and a bit of realism for us into the game.
- 1:17:06What we, we, we followed for so long.
- 1:17:08And I'm very grateful that they're that they're taking part
- 1:17:10in it. I must admit.
- 1:17:11Going to move on now, mate, On to our next little feature.
- 1:17:15We've got a couple of features left.
- 1:17:17We'll move on to all other balls where we're going to be talking
- 1:17:20about all sports from around the world.
- 1:17:25And we're starting, if that's all right, mate, we're going to
- 1:17:27talk about the AFCON final. Have you seen this?
- 1:17:32By the way, I. Haven't.
- 1:17:34I haven't, Right. I've read about it.
- 1:17:37I haven't seen it. Play a protest, an awful penalty
- 1:17:43and fan uproar that were the headline that I read about this.
- 1:17:46I'm like, you play a protest, you've got me hooked, right?
- 1:17:50So the final score where he was Senegal, Morocco one nil to
- 1:17:53Senegal. Eventually right deep into out
- 1:17:55of time, Morocco would have awarded a penalty after the AVAR
- 1:17:59review for the foul. OK, I've watched I, I read this
- 1:18:04at first, I didn't watch the game.
- 1:18:05I've set this and I'll watch the highlights and I'll watch this.
- 1:18:08This foul, it looked like a giveable foul.
- 1:18:10It looked like any of the foul that you'd see in the Premier
- 1:18:12League, probably a bit soft, but it looked like a foul, went to
- 1:18:14VIR, went to a little screen thing outside at pitch, Give it
- 1:18:18as a foul. Anyway, Senegal's players and
- 1:18:21coaches with that in disgust. The coach has gone on the field,
- 1:18:26told all of his players to go off into the changing rooms,
- 1:18:29pulled all of this. This is deep into out of time
- 1:18:31pulled all of his players off right took him off the onto the
- 1:18:34sideline. You then got Sadio Mane stood on
- 1:18:39the field who's who's part of obviously the Senegal team stood
- 1:18:43there trying to get people back onto the fields to carry on this
- 1:18:45game right. So anyway, he's he refused to
- 1:18:50quit. He's getting his team mates back
- 1:18:52on the game anyway, 15 minutes later they get the game back
- 1:18:56underway. This penalty happens right?
- 1:18:59Morocco's star, their top tournament goalscorer, right by
- 1:19:04a name of of Diaz, his surname, right, Raheem Diaz.
- 1:19:07I think he's I think his name anyway, steps up right and tries
- 1:19:12a Pantech, a pan pan Anchka style kick.
- 1:19:17And I'm not sure if you've seen one of these where they're like
- 1:19:19they'll run up and they'll try and chip it down middle, not go
- 1:19:22for either side. They'll just try and chip it
- 1:19:23down middle. Well, Senegal's goalkeeper just
- 1:19:26stood there and caught it right. Roll on, roll on like 3 minutes
- 1:19:32later. It's at a time a real nice, a
- 1:19:37real nice counter attack from Senegal hits the scoring
- 1:19:41absolute beauty of a winner and send Morocco home.
- 1:19:45So they so like Senegal moaned about it.
- 1:19:49They got awarded a penalty against them.
- 1:19:50They kicked off for 15 minutes and still won the game.
- 1:19:53It was bar me to watch if you get a chance to watch the
- 1:19:56highlight. I mean, I've probably missed
- 1:19:58some bits out of there. I'm not a soccer fan, guys, I'm
- 1:20:00really not. I watch it, but I don't I don't.
- 1:20:02I don't worship it like some people do, but it will just bar
- 1:20:07me to see apps and I wonder what the repercussions are going to
- 1:20:10be of him taking his taking his team off the field.
- 1:20:13But that that for me is is story.
- 1:20:15When I'm glad you don't, I'm glad you're not.
- 1:20:16You've not heard it. So you can give me an honest
- 1:20:18reaction from it. But that's that's the first
- 1:20:19story of balls of the week this week.
- 1:20:21All the balls, sorry, all the balls.
- 1:20:24I just think it's nuts like So what?
- 1:20:27What I'm trying to get my head around here is when they scored
- 1:20:30the the counter attack goal, had the team come back onto play at
- 1:20:34this point or were they just playing like to an open field?
- 1:20:37No, no. I'm.
- 1:20:38Just visualising these eleven players, just like, yeah, this
- 1:20:40is going to be easy. So the team that scored was the
- 1:20:44team that went off the field. So the team, so the team that
- 1:20:49got the got awarded the penalty, right was Morocco.
- 1:20:53Senegal kicked off about the penalty being awarded.
- 1:20:55They jumped off the field. They came back on 15 minutes
- 1:20:58later and scored a counter attack.
- 1:21:00Barbie, absolutely Barbie of a chain of events.
- 1:21:03If you get janted, I would highly recommend watching the
- 1:21:05highlights. He's he's absolutely just
- 1:21:07skipped forward to the last five minutes.
- 1:21:08He's fantastic. But yeah, that is all small
- 1:21:10story. To finish on this, as soon as we
- 1:21:13click finish, I'll be going to watch that.
- 1:21:15Yeah, please do give me a view on it.
- 1:21:17Please do. Over to you mate.
- 1:21:19Why you got We got. Yeah, I've got an equally balmy
- 1:21:22story myself. So big fan of hockey, ice hockey
- 1:21:26we're talking about here. I say big fan.
- 1:21:29It's not something I sit and watch all the time, but to watch
- 1:21:31live I absolutely love. I've been to a few college games
- 1:21:35out in the States when I've been out there skiing and seen a few
- 1:21:39games over here. So we're just a little bit north
- 1:21:42of Sheffield, so been down to see the Sheffield Steelers a
- 1:21:45good few times and I love it. It's such a great sport.
- 1:21:48It's action-packed. There's still one bit I just
- 1:21:51don't fully get my head around. And it's the fighting.
- 1:21:54Like it's, it's brilliant when it happens.
- 1:21:56It's not often in British ice hockey as it is in the States,
- 1:22:00but it's great form when it happens and you're watching it.
- 1:22:02But I just don't quite get it. Like it happens.
- 1:22:06It's kind of OK that it happens, but it's not OK that it happens
- 1:22:09because then they go to the penalty box and stuff anyway.
- 1:22:12But in a recent game between Florida Panthers and San Jose
- 1:22:16Sharks, there ended up being this like off the play hit and
- 1:22:22it just sparked a bit of a melee.
- 1:22:23So there's like various skaters involved and the Shark's goalie.
- 1:22:27And I'm going to have to try and pronounce this one.
- 1:22:29It's a tough one. Alex Nadel Kovitch, I think, I
- 1:22:33hope I've done that justice, actually.
- 1:22:35It felt all right. He steps out of his crease and
- 1:22:37he gets involved, which is like pretty nuts anyway.
- 1:22:40So you don't normally get goalies like dropping their
- 1:22:42humongous gloves and stuff to start scrapping.
- 1:22:45So the Panthers keeper down at the opposite end sees this
- 1:22:53keeper get involved and start having a go at one of his mates
- 1:22:58and basically says I want a bit of that action.
- 1:23:02So drops his glove, skates down to the opposite end of the ring
- 1:23:06and there ends up just being this goalie on goalie fight,
- 1:23:11which I did a little bit of research on this because I was
- 1:23:14intrigued. And I think the last time, if I
- 1:23:16remember in this right, there was a goalie on goalie fight was
- 1:23:19like 2020. So like one in every six years
- 1:23:24if you like. It's just absolutely Barney.
- 1:23:29And then you ended up having so 5 minute penalties for fighting,
- 1:23:342 minute penalties for leaving their creases to participate in
- 1:23:37the fight. But then Despite that brawl,
- 1:23:40that brawl, sorry, neither goalie was actually ejected and
- 1:23:43both finished the game. Like, it's just not so the other
- 1:23:46goalie Again, I'm going to try and pronounce this way.
- 1:23:49This right, Sorry, is Sergey Bobrovsky.
- 1:23:51I think so. We've got Sergey Bobrovsky and
- 1:23:54Alex Nedelkovich. I hope I'm pretty pleased with
- 1:23:58that. Yeah.
- 1:24:00But yeah, like goalie on goalie, scrap in the ring.
- 1:24:04Yeah, again, I just read that story originally and then went
- 1:24:06and had a little look at the highlights of it on X.
- 1:24:09It's just barmy, you know, you've got a multi Stanley Cup
- 1:24:13winner in Babrowski. He's not had a single fight
- 1:24:17until this one. Like not a single one.
- 1:24:20But he's just thought, Oh yeah, I can see my mate getting
- 1:24:22pummelling by a goalie. I'm going to have some of that.
- 1:24:24Why not not done this before? It baffles me.
- 1:24:27It baffles me the fact that they allow him to fight on ice.
- 1:24:31I love it. I, I, I'd love to go watch the,
- 1:24:35the, the hockey model over here, like Steelers are in Leeds and
- 1:24:37stuff. I would love to go.
- 1:24:38And I keep saying to myself, like my Barber, he, he goes and
- 1:24:41watches Leeds all the time and I keep saying I'm going to go and
- 1:24:44then I can never get down to going.
- 1:24:46And I, I really wish I'd like to get into it more.
- 1:24:48Don't really fully understand the rules at the moment, but
- 1:24:50like I would just love to to get into it more as as as a sport as
- 1:24:55such, but. I'll do a plug for the Steelers.
- 1:24:57I'm not sure what Leeds Knights do.
- 1:25:00They're probably smidge more local than Steelers ish to where
- 1:25:03I am, but the Steelers do. I'm pretty sure they still do
- 1:25:06it. They do 5 LB Knights so it's £5
- 1:25:08a ticket. It's normally the Wednesday
- 1:25:11games that they have and it's just yeah it's great.
- 1:25:14Like get your big 2 pint things and you've got all like Chuck a
- 1:25:19puck at half time to try and get it in the middle and it's yeah,
- 1:25:23it's brilliant. Also is Leeds Chief Research
- 1:25:26Cal's saying not Leeds nights? I always thought it was nights
- 1:25:28but clearly not. I thought yeah, I'd recommend it
- 1:25:32to anyone. Is Research Cal making a mistake
- 1:25:35again, I think, is it not one of those subsidiary teams?
- 1:25:42So like the Sheffield Steelers? You've got the Steel Dogs,
- 1:25:44haven't you? Which is like the team below.
- 1:25:46Yeah. I wonder if, I wonder if there's
- 1:25:47those two. Maybe.
- 1:25:48I don't know. But yeah, I'd recommend it.
- 1:25:50Ice hockey is so cool to watch. It used to be the Chiefs.
- 1:25:54It did get it wrong. It did get it wrong.
- 1:25:56It used to be the Chiefs. Kyle, you're going to get
- 1:25:59sacked. Super telling.
- 1:26:01Me. Right.
- 1:26:04So they are all other balls for this week. 2 nice interesting
- 1:26:10stories. One including a ball, one
- 1:26:11including a flat ball. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:26:14A flat ball like a book, you know.
- 1:26:16Sure, sure. Right.
- 1:26:18We're going to move on now to our final section of the
- 1:26:22evening. One that you guys at home, we
- 1:26:24urge you to get involved. We would love you to get
- 1:26:27involved with this. And that is Cow's conundrum.
- 1:26:31OK, so we're going to move into Carl's conundrum now and on the
- 1:26:35screen now if you are watching on YouTube or Spotify, if you're
- 1:26:39listening to this through Apple podcast, the last week's Carl's
- 1:26:44conundrum was including trade UPS, which two NFL teams have
- 1:26:48held the 1st overall pick in the NFL draft the most times.
- 1:26:52And the two teams were the Indianapolis Colts and the LA
- 1:26:56Rams. So thank you very much for that
- 1:26:58Carl in there. Well done.
- 1:26:59If you if if you got this, if you got it right, thank you for
- 1:27:03taking part. If you do, I know some DMS about
- 1:27:05it. We're going to bring up another
- 1:27:06Carlos conundrum for next week in just a second.
- 1:27:09I want you guys to get involved with this.
- 1:27:10Think hard. And yeah, let us know what you
- 1:27:14think. Let us know what your thoughts
- 1:27:15are on this. So Carlos conundrum for the
- 1:27:19following week off of this week going into next week is which
- 1:27:22current NFL head coach has more career rushing yards than Bo
- 1:27:28Jackson? And just for reference on this,
- 1:27:30Bo Jackson has 2000 had 2782 yards.
- 1:27:37So which current NFL head coach has more career rushing yards
- 1:27:43than Bo Jackson? Let us know in the comments.
- 1:27:47Let us know whenever you can comment.
- 1:27:49We will be putting this on our socials if you're our stories
- 1:27:51and be a post. So head over to all of our

- 1:27:58Brad, anyone sticking out to you at this moment in time?
- 1:28:02No, really not. These.
- 1:28:04Have been interesting. I know last week's I didn't get
- 1:28:07and and I love a pub quiz so I haven't cheated and it was
- 1:28:09literally just earlier today I said right research Cal What
- 1:28:12what are the answers? And he told us like, yeah, it
- 1:28:14makes sense, but I didn't know No, I just I'm trying to blast
- 1:28:18through all the head coaches now but my mind's a blank at the
- 1:28:21minute, but it's one I'll I'll refer back to.
- 1:28:22So yeah, make sure you hit us up in socials and leave comments on
- 1:28:25the YouTube channel, on Instagram, Twitter, wherever you
- 1:28:28X wherever you saw hitting us up at ABNF pod we.
- 1:28:33Could narrow this down because there's only 22 head coaches at
- 1:28:36most there were 10 vacancies. So.
- 1:28:40So we could narrow this down. Hired 4.
- 1:28:42That's what. Yeah, it's OK.
- 1:28:43So we're 26. We've got one in 26 chance of
- 1:28:46getting this right. But I, I've only joked, but
- 1:28:48yeah, get involved with this guys, please.
- 1:28:50This is more for you than for us.
- 1:28:51We want you to get involved and get engaging with us so.

- 1:29:03It's that's about some good, some good points in it.
- 1:29:07That being said, guys, I know I've plugged it a few times
- 1:29:09prior about all the social and everything.
- 1:29:10You can't stress to you how much it really helps us out if you
- 1:29:13get involved with the algorithms.
