- 0:28Back to the Elon Musk. Podcast.
- 0:30This is a show where we discuss the critical Crossroads, the
- 0:33Shape, SpaceX, Tesla X, The Boring Company, and Neuralink,
- 0:38and I'm your host, Will Walden. Tesla is gearing up to release a
- 0:43new update for its full self driving system, version 12.4,
- 0:47which is anticipated to launch sometime next week.
- 0:51Elon Musk recently announced this on his X account,
- 0:54highlighting significant advancements and improvements in
- 0:56the system, and this update follows the previously released
- 0:59version 12 point 3.6 and aims to enhance the driving experience
- 1:03by refining how the car handles accelerating and braking.
- 1:07Now Musk has expressed that the latest version of Tesla's FSD
- 1:10will dramatically improve user experience, asserting that it
- 1:12will blow your mind. This update, FSD 12.4,
- 1:16reportedly features nearly entirely retrained models with
- 1:20focus on smoothed out riding, addressing common concerns about
- 1:24the abruptness of the cars movements.
- 1:26Now, according to Musk, the Autopilot team at Tesla has
- 1:29moved beyond resolving urgent safety concerns to refining the
- 1:32system's performance, indicating a significant progression in the
- 1:36technology's development. He noted.
- 1:38The final touches are. For comfort.
- 1:40As it sometimes accelerates or brakes too fast for most
- 1:43people's taste, this improvement suggests that the fundamental
- 1:46functionalities of FSD have reached a reliable baseline,
- 1:50allowing the team to focus on enhancing user comfort.
- 1:54And beyond the immediate release, Tesla is already
- 1:56working on subsequent versions of the FSD tech.
- 1:59Versions 12.5 and 12.6 are currently in different stages of
- 2:03testing, dealing with complex driving scenarios that include
- 2:06navigating through narrow one way roads and managing
- 2:09unexpected Rd. closures effectively.
- 2:12Now must detail the specific scenario being tested where
- 2:16Tesla needs to reverse out of a blocked path and find a new
- 2:19route. He said that it's very important
- 2:22of these updates being communicated across Tesla's
- 2:25network to avoid congestion and sure all vehicles are aware of
- 2:28changes within real time. Now these advancements are
- 2:32particularly crucial as Tesla prepares to launch its Robo Taxi
- 2:36model. Quote The Cyber Cab scheduled to
- 2:40be introduced on August 8th of 2024.
- 2:45Now the ongoing development in FSD technology is crucial for
- 2:49the success of this new venture as autonomous driving
- 2:52capabilities will be a key feature of the Cyber Cab.
- 2:55Now Tesla's recent enhancements also include improvements in
- 2:58parking technology. Latest FSD update prior to 12.4
- 3:02introduces features like Auto Park and High Fidelity Park
- 3:06Assist specifically designed for vehicles equipped with
- 3:09ultrasonic sensors in North America.
- 3:12Now, Musk's ongoing communication on X serves as a
- 3:14primary source for updates on Tesla developments, and his
- 3:17posts provide insights into both the current enhancements and the
- 3:21strategic direction for future updates, ensuring that Tesla
- 3:24users and fans and enthusiasts are well informed about what to
- 3:27expect. So Tesla's efforts are not just
- 3:30limited to hardware improvements, but also
- 3:32significant investments in AI. Musk has committed approximately
- 3:36$10 billion in 2024 for developing AI capabilities,
- 3:40essentially for maintaining Tesla's competitive edge in
- 3:43automotive technology and with an eye on global markets.
- 3:47Tesla is preparing for the expansion of its FSD tech,
- 3:50starting with China, and Musk's recent discussions in Beijing
- 3:54indicate that Tesla is negotiating terms for FSD
- 3:57development and data sharing, essentially steps for launching
- 4:00the technology in new markets. However, while Tesla is
- 4:04optimistic about its expansion in left hand drive countries,
- 4:07right hand drive markets such as the UK and Australia might see
- 4:11delays, and Musk acknowledges the challenges and expresses A
- 4:15cautious optimism toward achieving successful rollouts in
- 4:18these regions. Now, on a different note, Tesla
- 4:21appears to be undergoing organizational changes back in
- 4:24the US Recent reports suggest a hiring freeze with a significant
- 4:29reduction in job listings. On Tesla's career page, they
- 4:32wiped out all career listings. This is for a broader
- 4:36restructuring within the company and only a few positions are
- 4:40currently advertised, mainly for Tesla's manufacturing
- 4:43development program in the USA. Significant decrease from
- 4:46previous listings. This change follows a series of
- 4:48layoffs aimed at streamlining the operations and enhancing
- 4:52productivity across the company. It's been about 14,000 people
- 4:56that have been laid off or fired from Tesla and must.
- 4:59Communication with Tesla employees highlights his focus
- 5:02on efficiency and cost reduction.
- 5:04In a recent internal communications, he's showed that
- 5:07the necessity of these measures to prepare for future growth and
- 5:10the harsh reality of job cuts within the US and also a
- 5:14shifting direction of Tesla towards AI.
- 5:18The recently layoffs have affected many employees across
- 5:20various departments, indicating a significant reshaping of
- 5:23Tesla's workforce. This includes high profile
- 5:26executives and senior positions, suggesting a major reevaluation
- 5:31of staffing needs against the backdrop of Tesla's evolving
- 5:35strategic goals like getting rid of the $25,000 lower price Tesla
- 5:40car and moving towards the cyber cab.
- 5:43Now, despite these challenges, Musk continues to advocate for
- 5:46rigorous standards within his team, demanding high performance
- 5:49and essential contributions as criteria for job security.
- 5:53This approach reflects his broader vision for Tesla as a
- 5:55leaner, more focused entity capable of sustaining innovation
- 5:59and efficiency, and as Tesla navigates these internal changes
- 6:04and external advancements in technology.
- 6:06So the success of these updates and the integration of advanced
- 6:10AI and autonomous driving caabilities will likely play a
- 6:13crucial role in Tesla's future, especially with the ucoming
- 6:16launch of the cyber cab. Hey, thank you so much for
