- 0:56Speaker 4: to talk a little New Orleans Saints. We got Ross Jackson,
- 0:59Speaker 4: all from Louisiana Sports done that and locked on Saints podcast. Ross.
- 1:03Speaker 4: What's up my man?
- 1:04Speaker 2: Hey man, glad to be here with you. Thanks for
- 1:06Speaker 2: having me. You know, look, I know Jake and I
- 1:08Speaker 2: are both out here, but at least I could.
- 1:09Speaker 5: Show up, you know what I mean.
- 1:11Speaker 4: I'm telling you, Jake Evan asked to come on the
- 1:13Speaker 4: show one time this whole week.
- 1:16Speaker 2: One time, not even one time.
- 1:18Speaker 4: Now on fairness, we didn't ask him. Uh yeah, we've
- 1:24Speaker 4: know Forrilla We appreciate you jumping on pinching for us
- 1:28Speaker 4: right now. We just learned like eight minutes ago that
- 1:31Speaker 4: Nick was on an airplane couldn't join the show. So
- 1:34Speaker 4: we know you usually jump on with Matt in the afternoon,
- 1:36Speaker 4: so we appreciate you jumping on with us. I'm like, look,
- 1:39Speaker 4: let me ask him like you've seen you've seen hester
- 1:41Speaker 4: this week? Is he Is he acting any different to
- 1:44Speaker 4: you now that he's got this big new NFL gig
- 1:47Speaker 4: instead of college.
- 1:48Speaker 6: It's funny you should say that the chest is a
- 1:51Speaker 6: little bit.
- 1:51Speaker 2: More out, you know what I'm saying.
- 1:53Speaker 6: The the chin's a little bit further up, you know,
- 1:57Speaker 6: and so it's you know, his hands look even bigger somehow, like.
- 2:01Speaker 7: I don't know, there's hands.
- 2:04Speaker 6: Yeah, there's a magnanimousness around him right now that you
- 2:08Speaker 6: know you might have to bring him down a peg
- 2:09Speaker 6: when he gets back.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Yeah, we're starting to say around here that he's getting
- 2:13Speaker 4: a little less gritty. He's now identifying as a running
- 2:15Speaker 4: back and not a fullback.
- 2:16Speaker 2: So it's less gritty, let's gritty more pretty.
- 2:19Speaker 4: That's exactly right. Uh, but no, you're you are out
- 2:22Speaker 4: in Arizona at the NFL Owners meeting, and it kind
- 2:25Speaker 4: of explained to the folks like the NFL Owners meeting
- 2:27Speaker 4: is certainly of course not all about owners. Just everybody's there,
- 2:30Speaker 4: coaches are there, Uh, there's media members there. What all
- 2:34Speaker 4: is happening that? Like, what is this meeting all about?
- 2:36Speaker 4: What gets accomplished this week? Yeah?
- 2:39Speaker 2: Yeah, Look, this is a lot of different you know
- 2:41Speaker 2: a lot of different meetings and events that actually go
- 2:44Speaker 2: on here, including everything from potential rule change meetings, Like
- 2:48Speaker 2: there's a lot of special teams you know, stuff on
- 2:50Speaker 2: the table this year for some more changes to the
- 2:53Speaker 2: kickoff on side kick rules. Little us is nothing too
- 2:57Speaker 2: big there. You know, there was that uh you know
- 3:02Speaker 2: vote on the table from I think it was the
- 3:04Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns put it out about trying to trade picks
- 3:06Speaker 2: all the way out to you know, five years in advance.
- 3:09Speaker 2: As you know, they kind of look at things that
- 3:12Speaker 2: they could potentially do with that whatever, but that ended
- 3:14Speaker 2: up getting pulled back. So it's little things like that
- 3:16Speaker 2: in terms of these you know, larger rule changes. But
- 3:19Speaker 2: then there's also additional conversations that happen that are along
- 3:23Speaker 2: the idea of you know, updating on the International Plan
- 3:28Speaker 2: or updating on the international markets and games and things
- 3:31Speaker 2: like that. I mean, it's a lot that goes on here,
- 3:33Speaker 2: a lot of business, but a lot of talk about
- 3:35Speaker 2: the game as well. But you know, and this is
- 3:38Speaker 2: also where a lot of deals start to get made
- 3:40Speaker 2: in terms of general managers all being in one place.
- 3:43Speaker 2: You know, I've already heard of a couple of the
- 3:45Speaker 2: trades that came to fruition in last year's drafts began
- 3:50Speaker 2: during the owners meetings conversations and things like that. So
- 3:53Speaker 2: a lot of a lot of deals kind of get
- 3:55Speaker 2: struck over here as well.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Yeah, kind of like I've always looked at this meeting
- 3:59Speaker 4: as kind of scene your ball and combine like on steroids,
- 4:03Speaker 4: because there's not as many people and it's all the
- 4:05Speaker 4: bit it's like the decision makers. So and you're getting
- 4:07Speaker 4: closer to the draft, so a lot of big decisions.
- 4:10Speaker 4: But but you're just kind of saying, there's no big news.
- 4:12Speaker 4: I know, last year coming out it was like the
- 4:14Speaker 4: big vote on the Tush push, But like, there's no
- 4:17Speaker 4: big rule changes that you've heard about that are going
- 4:19Speaker 4: to like really be significant.
- 4:22Speaker 2: The only one that can be interesting is the idea
- 4:25Speaker 2: of allowing a replay official to overrule or add a
- 4:29Speaker 2: penalty if something was missed on a play on the field.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I haven't checked up on that, you know, with the
- 4:36Speaker 2: footwisth of a big focus on everything thant wise going
- 4:38Speaker 2: on here, but that would probably be the biggest one
- 4:42Speaker 2: that you know, if that were to pass, or if
- 4:44Speaker 2: that were to not be pulled or whatever, that could
- 4:47Speaker 2: potentially have some big impact in twenty twenty six. If
- 4:50Speaker 2: they did vote yes on that, it would be a
- 4:52Speaker 2: one year situation, not a in perpetuity situation, So it
- 4:55Speaker 2: would be a whole piece of like, oh, they try
- 4:57Speaker 2: it out for a year and then see if they
- 4:59Speaker 2: want to keep at allah. The last time that they
- 5:01Speaker 2: did this was making penalties reviewable, but now instead of
- 5:05Speaker 2: putting it in the coach's hands, they just want to
- 5:07Speaker 2: keep it in the official fair.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Now would that be all penalties? I would think they
- 5:11Speaker 4: tried the pass interference combative penalties like holding pass interference
- 5:16Speaker 4: those are hard, but personal fouls like chopped blocks, and
- 5:19Speaker 4: then like all sides of stuff that can be reviewable,
- 5:23Speaker 4: but the combative penalty, so is everything from a penalty
- 5:25Speaker 4: standpoint on the.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Table basically what they like. The way that they listed
- 5:29Speaker 2: it out in the rule change document was anything that's
- 5:32Speaker 2: egregious and clear or like clear and obvious, And so
- 5:35Speaker 2: I think it would be.
- 5:36Speaker 5: More so towards the larger kind.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Of impactful penalties like you know, a big pass interference
- 5:43Speaker 2: down the field that could move the ball down the field,
- 5:45Speaker 2: or you know, like you said, a personal foul penalty,
- 5:48Speaker 2: maybe some under unnecessary roughness stuff, they could be looked at,
- 5:51Speaker 2: I think, but that I think that would probably be
- 5:53Speaker 2: more so the focus than you.
- 5:55Speaker 5: Know, kind of did more picky tacky stuff.
- 5:57Speaker 4: Gotcha all right, let's talk some saints more. Took to
- 6:00Speaker 4: the microphone and you know, talked a lot about what
- 6:03Speaker 4: was your Do you have any big takeaways? I know,
- 6:05Speaker 4: like one takeaway that we were talking about in studio
- 6:08Speaker 4: here was kind of mum's the word a little bit
- 6:11Speaker 4: on Kamara? Uh, what's kind of your feeling on Alvin
- 6:15Speaker 4: Kamara going in to the draft.
- 6:18Speaker 2: Yeah. In our conversation with Kellen, he was pretty clear
- 6:21Speaker 2: that he envisions a world where you could actually have
- 6:24Speaker 2: both Travis Chant as well as Alvin Mure in the
- 6:27Speaker 2: backfield together. But as you continue to have more conversation
- 6:31Speaker 2: and talk with, you know, other folks that are around
- 6:33Speaker 2: here everything, you start to pick up a little bit
- 6:35Speaker 2: more on you know, what it would actually take for
- 6:38Speaker 2: that to become the case. It's one thing that, yeah,
- 6:40Speaker 2: if they're on the roster together, could they coac just.
- 6:43Speaker 5: In the backfield?
- 6:43Speaker 2: Sure. The other question though, is will he get to
- 6:46Speaker 2: the point where he is on the roster and therefore
- 6:48Speaker 2: a part of that backfield. So from some of the
- 6:50Speaker 2: things that we've heard, it feels like there's still some
- 6:53Speaker 2: contractual conversations that would have to happen in terms of,
- 6:56Speaker 2: you know, making things comfortable on both sides the role
- 7:00Speaker 2: would be and for kind of the future money as well,
- 7:03Speaker 2: that sits on the contract. So I think that there's
- 7:05Speaker 2: still more conversation to be had when it comes to,
- 7:09Speaker 2: you know, what Kamara's future looks like here. Well, I'm
- 7:12Speaker 2: not here in New Orleans, but in New Orleans, so
- 7:14Speaker 2: that'll still that's still a storyline we're following here throughout
- 7:17Speaker 2: the offseason because it's it's really it's very very clear
- 7:20Speaker 2: just how unclear the.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Future of Kamara in New Orleans is.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Yeah, and then when everybody's kind of unclear, it's kind
- 7:26Speaker 4: of hard to give absolutes when you're a head coach,
- 7:28Speaker 4: you got to kind of tiptoe around, and that's probably
- 7:30Speaker 4: you know, kind of what he's doing, and we all
- 7:32Speaker 4: get that. What I'm curious, like all these moves, it
- 7:36Speaker 4: seems like the Saints have made a lot of really
- 7:39Speaker 4: good moves, you know, starting with the draft last year,
- 7:43Speaker 4: with free agent signings. It just seems like everything they've done,
- 7:47Speaker 4: they've has been really good. And we haven't always been
- 7:49Speaker 4: able to say that about the Saints in the last
- 7:52Speaker 4: handful of years. How much influence does Kellimore have on
- 7:56Speaker 4: personnel decision makings right now?
- 7:59Speaker 2: Yeah, a good question, I think. You know, we asked
- 8:02Speaker 2: him a little bit about like what's the process like
- 8:04Speaker 2: going into free agency for instance, and he mentioned that,
- 8:08Speaker 2: you know, in a lot of cases, they'll you know,
- 8:10Speaker 2: be able to provide these are some of the players
- 8:13Speaker 2: that we like and things like that. It's very collaborative,
- 8:16Speaker 2: very collaborative approach. I know years ago, a couple of
- 8:20Speaker 2: years ago, I talked to one of the Saints position
- 8:23Speaker 2: coaches that's now elsewhere and he mentioned that, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 2: he had submitted a he was able to submit a
- 8:28Speaker 2: list of kind of his preferred targets at the position
- 8:33Speaker 2: that he coached. And you know, the team then takes
- 8:36Speaker 2: that into consideration. It's not a Okay, yeah, we'll go
- 8:39Speaker 2: get these guys for you, you know what I mean,
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's adding to the list of potential talents. So I
- 8:44Speaker 2: would imagine there's still some version of that that exists,
- 8:47Speaker 2: and of course, as the head coach, you're trying to
- 8:49Speaker 2: put together the more holistic version of all of it.
- 8:52Speaker 2: So I think it's the collaborative one. But he absolutely has,
- 8:55Speaker 2: you know, say in terms of you know, what players
- 8:58Speaker 2: are targeted, what players end up getting brought in, and
- 9:01Speaker 2: you know, obviously he's not there negotiating the contracts during
- 9:04Speaker 2: free agency, but it's clear that he has some big
- 9:08Speaker 2: time input in terms of what that personnel looks like,
- 9:09Speaker 2: which is what you would expect for your head coach
- 9:11Speaker 2: and could be a big part of the reason why
- 9:13Speaker 2: things began to turn around as quickly as they did
- 9:15Speaker 2: on both sides of the football last year was because
- 9:17Speaker 2: they were able to get the right guys in the building.
- 9:19Speaker 2: That started with that draft and free agency last year,
- 9:22Speaker 2: but certainly accelerated this year, especially with the strong free
- 9:25Speaker 2: agency bus.
- 9:25Speaker 4: Well, let's talk about somebody that is in the building,
- 9:28Speaker 4: but hopefully going to be in the building for much longer.
- 9:31Speaker 4: Let's talk about Chris Alave a little bit. How is
- 9:33Speaker 4: that the whole contract extension progressing. I know, with the
- 9:39Speaker 4: with the JSN contract up in Seattle, maybe that maybe
- 9:43Speaker 4: delayed a few things. Maybe the negotiations got a little
- 9:46Speaker 4: bit more spicy after that. But how's that whole contract
- 9:50Speaker 4: situation and when do you see it being played out?
- 9:53Speaker 2: Yeah, the timeline is a really interesting one because what
- 9:56Speaker 2: the JSN deal does is that it kind of give
- 10:00Speaker 2: Olave and his you know team, the opportunity just from
- 10:04Speaker 2: the outside looking in, to say, you know what, we're
- 10:07Speaker 2: going to go after that contract and so bet on
- 10:09Speaker 2: themselves in twenty twenty twenty six and hopes of being
- 10:12Speaker 2: able to go back to the drawing table in twenty
- 10:14Speaker 2: twenty seven and negotiate something that's more than that forty
- 10:17Speaker 2: plus range if he were to have another strong season
- 10:20Speaker 2: improve that kind of he earned that money, so they
- 10:22Speaker 2: could always bet on themselves here thanks to that JSN deal.
- 10:26Speaker 2: But I don't know that the JASN deal impacts much
- 10:29Speaker 2: right now because of where the belief of where Olive
- 10:32Speaker 2: ranks within sort of these highest paid wide receivers. The
- 10:36Speaker 2: biggest thing is that when you ask people about where
- 10:38Speaker 2: Chris Olive lands, and I'm talking you know, different executives,
- 10:41Speaker 2: different evaluators, everything like that that are here at the
- 10:44Speaker 2: here at the meeting, you start to pick up on
- 10:47Speaker 2: sort of the divide between you know, hey, you know,
- 10:51Speaker 2: some people will say Chris Olave deserves and sits around
- 10:54Speaker 2: that thirty two and a half million dollar plus range
- 10:57Speaker 2: where Garrett Wilson is. You they were in the same
- 11:00Speaker 2: draft class, And some of it is just timing, right
- 11:03Speaker 2: when contract happened, first, second contract happens, and you expect
- 11:06Speaker 2: that contract to be higher, and then others kind of
- 11:08Speaker 2: look at him as maybe the stealing is actually thirty
- 11:11Speaker 2: million dollars, And so there's a little bit of a
- 11:13Speaker 2: divide in terms of where the outside look is on
- 11:18Speaker 2: his deal. I imagine that divide isn't absent when it comes
- 11:23Speaker 2: to the team and his representation trying to market for
- 11:26Speaker 2: them as well. Right Like, if we're seeing that across
- 11:28Speaker 2: all these evaluators, you imagine that that's part of the
- 11:30Speaker 2: conversation that's going on as well. So the negotiations are happening,
- 11:34Speaker 2: things are moving, but I don't know exactly where a
- 11:37Speaker 2: timeline might be yet, because if there's a bit of
- 11:40Speaker 2: a divide here, a lot obvious people could easily say, okay,
- 11:43Speaker 2: going to bet on ourselves going into twenty twenty six
- 11:45Speaker 2: and then maybe you know, hit the negotiating table again
- 11:47Speaker 2: in twenty seven.
- 11:48Speaker 4: What number you think that'll land up.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I think it's going to be in the thirty range
- 11:53Speaker 2: if they got it done this off season. It'll be
- 11:56Speaker 2: interesting to see if that number is exactly thirty or
- 11:58Speaker 2: if it does push up a little bit higher than that.
- 12:01Speaker 5: I think that the other thing.
- 12:02Speaker 2: That's got to be very interesting in all this, just
- 12:04Speaker 2: you know, looking at all the possibilities of it, is
- 12:07Speaker 2: how much do you guarantee? How do you handle things
- 12:12Speaker 2: in terms of you know, the the injury history as
- 12:15Speaker 2: well and taking that into account. And that's something that
- 12:18Speaker 2: a lot of people you know, have kind of brought
- 12:19Speaker 2: up around a lot of already, is you know, does
- 12:22Speaker 2: that impact guarantees, does that impact how the money has
- 12:25Speaker 2: structured all these other things? So I would imagine that
- 12:27Speaker 2: he kind of falls my projector would probably be in
- 12:29Speaker 2: the thirty million dollar. But what would be very interesting
- 12:32Speaker 2: is to see what the full on structure looks like
- 12:35Speaker 2: from us, you know, bonuses, incentives or even guarantee side.
- 12:38Speaker 4: Yeah, the lot of these situation is fascinating to me
- 12:41Speaker 4: because we talked about it all season about he's not
- 12:44Speaker 4: your traditional one, but his stats and his statistics at
- 12:49Speaker 4: any year are you know, you have to recognize him,
- 12:51Speaker 4: like you you can't not see what he's done. And
- 12:54Speaker 4: now with the new contrac with jsim phu Canu probably
- 12:57Speaker 4: getting a new contract, it's going to be fascinating to
- 13:00Speaker 4: where the Saints value him because you can't not keep
- 13:04Speaker 4: that guy. You have to feel that a way. But
- 13:06Speaker 4: then it's like how do you build around it? So
- 13:08Speaker 4: what do you see going forward into the draft? Do
- 13:11Speaker 4: you see them bringing on some more veteran wide receivers
- 13:15Speaker 4: at lower rates that are still available. Do you see
- 13:17Speaker 4: them jumping and taking a receiver early on in the draft.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I think adding to the wide receiver room is
- 13:25Speaker 2: something that would make a lot of sense for them.
- 13:27Speaker 5: I wouldn't be surprised to see.
- 13:28Speaker 2: I think you're probably looking at doing that in the
- 13:31Speaker 2: draft though. I think that the money at wide receiver
- 13:35Speaker 2: is one of the things that kind of makes teams go,
- 13:38Speaker 2: you know, what, do you just kind of keep recycling
- 13:39Speaker 2: these players through through the draft. I can kind of
- 13:42Speaker 2: keep repopulating that position through the draft instead of paying
- 13:45Speaker 2: multiple people, you know, ample amounts of dollars to come
- 13:49Speaker 2: in and play the position, and you're getting you know, four,
- 13:51Speaker 2: potentially five years of a rotation on these guys. And
- 13:54Speaker 2: so I think that there's a lot of a lot
- 13:56Speaker 2: to be said about playing sort of in the middle
- 14:00Speaker 2: rounds when it comes to wide receiver to add talent
- 14:02Speaker 2: to a room. So I would expect to see that.
- 14:05Speaker 2: I think that this is a team that would still
- 14:06Speaker 2: benefit from, you know, a young pass rusher as well.
- 14:09Speaker 2: We know how much the Saints love to kind of
- 14:12Speaker 2: lean trenches early on in the draft, and so I
- 14:15Speaker 2: wouldn't be surprised to see that, you know, continue that
- 14:18Speaker 2: trend and continue. But you know, we'll kind of see
- 14:21Speaker 2: where it is that they want to go, and what
- 14:22Speaker 2: the board looks like is going to be a big
- 14:24Speaker 2: part of it as well. But I think for the
- 14:25Speaker 2: most part, like they're the spaces where you can kind
- 14:29Speaker 2: of imagine there needs to be or their desires to
- 14:32Speaker 2: be or are pretty pretty obvious.
- 14:34Speaker 7: Right.
- 14:34Speaker 2: It's that edge rusher spot, It's that you know, potentially
- 14:37Speaker 2: adding to that wide receiver room. You've got to figure
- 14:39Speaker 2: out how you're going to overcome for the loss of
- 14:41Speaker 2: Alante Taylor, Like some of the some of the the
- 14:44Speaker 2: gaps in the roster are pretty clear still, and I
- 14:48Speaker 2: imagine those are some of the spots they'll continue to
- 14:50Speaker 2: go after, whether it be via you know, more veterans
- 14:52Speaker 2: in free agency before the draft, going after some players
- 14:55Speaker 2: in the draft, or potentially looking at veterans after the
- 14:58Speaker 2: draft as well, which I thinks.
- 14:59Speaker 5: Love the sort of in that June July area when
- 15:01Speaker 5: they get the same.
- 15:02Speaker 4: Any updates on Cam Jordan.
- 15:05Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean everything that I understand is that, like
- 15:08Speaker 2: the team would love to have Cam Jordan back the interest.
- 15:11Speaker 2: The question mark is can they provide Cam the opportunity
- 15:16Speaker 2: to give him the value that he's looking for from
- 15:20Speaker 2: a playtime perspective of production perspective, or is he going
- 15:23Speaker 2: to get a better opportunity elsewhere. So I wouldn't be
- 15:26Speaker 2: surprised if the draft maybe has some impact on like
- 15:28Speaker 2: the outlook of that from Cam Jordan's side, but there
- 15:32Speaker 2: seems to be a desire for him to be in
- 15:35Speaker 2: New Orleans. The question is just simply can they provide
- 15:38Speaker 2: the opportunity that he's looking for in the process. Have
- 15:41Speaker 2: you used to saying, ah, yes, I got there.
- 15:46Speaker 6: I mean, look, I'm.
- 15:47Speaker 2: Going to mess it up every now and then because
- 15:49Speaker 2: you still have to type it out, right, Like when
- 15:51Speaker 2: I type out Wednesday, I still say Wedness day.
- 15:53Speaker 5: You know what I'm saying, And.

- 21:40Speaker 3: you try it?
- 21:41Speaker 4: Okay?
- 21:45Speaker 3: You should?
- 21:45Speaker 4: You think I need it?
- 21:49Speaker 3: Honest with you? Yeah, honestly them on your forehead? Okay,
- 21:55Speaker 3: I mean not too much. Maybe they call it baby talks.
- 21:57Speaker 4: Little baby talks.
- 21:58Speaker 7: Yeah, all right, I should probably get them too. I'm
- 22:04Speaker 7: starting to get a little I'm trying to get a
- 22:05Speaker 7: little right here, you're not even thirty.
- 22:09Speaker 4: Relax over there, they chill out.
- 22:12Speaker 3: It's different, Taylor, things are different.
- 22:18Speaker 4: For you.
- 22:19Speaker 8: Uh yeah, sure, cannot be very Adam.
- 22:25Speaker 3: Isn't that what they don't I don't.
- 22:27Speaker 9: Really know what that is? That Okay, I's gonna say,
- 22:31Speaker 9: I don't really know. You already said yes, you already
- 22:33Speaker 9: said yes. Oh dude, I'm all about it.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Yeah, why not?
- 22:37Speaker 7: That's what they were technology injecting into themselves.
- 22:39Speaker 8: Yes, not at juven me though, what does uh?
- 22:45Speaker 9: What does Jake say, Bradley del Pivato? You should tell
- 22:47Speaker 9: y'all if everybody, if everybody could get another inch, you'd
- 22:51Speaker 9: all take it.
- 22:51Speaker 4: Yeah, I'll do it, man fair Enough's good.
- 22:55Speaker 3: I don't think it gave you an.
- 22:56Speaker 9: Inch, though, I don't know what does. There's only one
- 22:59Speaker 9: way to find well, really go test it.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Maybe, like yeah, here, let me pull this up because.
- 23:08Speaker 3: I very excited, oh about what.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Mankind's returning to the Moon.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Really, we were just talking about the Moon.
- 23:21Speaker 4: It's been fifty four years since we've ordered did the Moon.
- 23:25Speaker 4: NASA's Artibus two mission will carry four astronauts, Reed Wiseman,
- 23:30Speaker 4: Victor Glover, Christina Coke and Canadian astronaut Jeremy Hanson. Don't
- 23:36Speaker 4: know what I got to bring the Canadian guy, right,
- 23:37Speaker 4: what's he going to bring to the table. Nothing. It's
- 23:39Speaker 4: like elis you're going to do something and bring someone
- 23:41Speaker 4: from Ole miss to do something like, yeah, there's no
- 23:43Speaker 4: point in that, right on a ten day free return
- 23:47Speaker 4: trajectory around the Moon and back to Earth. It'll be
- 23:50Speaker 4: the first crude mission beyond low Earth orbit since Apollo
- 23:54Speaker 4: seventeen in nineteen seventy two. Wow, uh huh, And Hanson
- 24:01Speaker 4: was going to be the first non US citizen to
- 24:02Speaker 4: travel beyond or the orbits. So they're not landing long.
- 24:06Speaker 3: They're just going.
- 24:07Speaker 4: The crew will not land on the Moon this time. Okay,
- 24:11Speaker 4: next thing. The mission is designed to Okay, all right,
- 24:17Speaker 4: I respect it, but I don't like it. The mission
- 24:19Speaker 4: is designed to thoroughly test the Orion spacecraft and its
- 24:23Speaker 4: life support systems afore NASA attempts an actual lunar landing,
- 24:27Speaker 4: which it's targeting for twenty twenty eight. So in twenty
- 24:30Speaker 4: twenty eight, we're going to land on the Moon. So
- 24:33Speaker 4: this is one of the most significant moments in space
- 24:35Speaker 4: exploration history, and it's happened right now. Now. I think
- 24:38Speaker 4: that's a strong statement because we've already been there. Apparently
- 24:41Speaker 4: maybe not, But does any technology out there decrease more
- 24:48Speaker 4: or increase less than space travel tech? At least did
- 24:52Speaker 4: the deep space, the high orbit excuse me. We've already
- 24:57Speaker 4: landed on it, so you think that would know how
- 25:00Speaker 4: to do it? Yeah, unless the flag blowing was pretty bad.
- 25:12Speaker 3: I mean, there's only one way.
- 25:13Speaker 7: One way to find out is to go there and
- 25:15Speaker 7: see if the footprints are.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Indeed on there, because they'd still be there.
- 25:19Speaker 7: Yeah, they would still be there.
- 25:24Speaker 4: What are they like, a meteor hit it already?
- 25:26Speaker 8: I don't think I think we'd know if a media
- 25:28Speaker 8: hit the moon.
- 25:29Speaker 4: Hit the moons all the time. The sucker's getting pelt
- 25:33Speaker 4: at all the time. Mm hmm.
- 25:35Speaker 9: It's a little space dust matter. You know what The
- 25:37Speaker 9: big problem is? What they haven't called vin Diesel for assistance.
- 25:41Speaker 9: He took an entire crew up there.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Did they leave the flag there?
- 25:46Speaker 8: I don't like, it's everything there, land it just to
- 25:49Speaker 8: take it right back.
- 25:51Speaker 7: So meteers constantly hit the Moon allegedly, See I knew that.
- 25:56Speaker 7: So maybe that's why we can't land on it, because
- 25:58Speaker 7: there's always meteors.
- 25:59Speaker 4: You always get hit.
- 26:00Speaker 9: That's true weather those uh those uh, those rockets don't
- 26:05Speaker 9: have flashers on them, so.
- 26:08Speaker 7: Unlike Earth, the Moon has no atmosphere to burn up
- 26:11Speaker 7: incoming rocks, so they strike the surface full speed.
- 26:14Speaker 4: Yeah, they're just hidding all the time.
- 26:15Speaker 7: There's five to one hundred and sixty thousand miles per hour.
- 26:19Speaker 7: Do you imagine forty five thousand to one hundred and
- 26:23Speaker 7: sixty thousand miles per hour? These these uh meteors are
- 26:28Speaker 7: coming into the Moon.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Well, here's my question.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Can you imagine?
- 26:31Speaker 4: How are they moving so fast?
- 26:33Speaker 9: I don't know how much because I don't know how
- 26:35Speaker 9: you measure how fast they're going.
- 26:37Speaker 4: I mean, are they coming towards Earth? There's a gravitational
- 26:40Speaker 4: pull of Earth pulling it to it's just hitting the Moon.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Let's the atmosphere burns it up.
- 26:47Speaker 4: Okay, here's here's my question. You can always we only
- 26:51Speaker 4: see one side of the Moon, right, If Earth's gravitational
- 26:55Speaker 4: pulls pulling the meteors towards it, how are there craters
- 26:59Speaker 4: on the side that we're seeing.
- 27:02Speaker 9: It's hidden so hard, it's st in the backside.
- 27:06Speaker 4: I mean, bro, have.
- 27:09Speaker 9: Hour, It's just a giant hole on the back of
- 27:11Speaker 9: the Moon from all the asteroids.
- 27:12Speaker 4: We don't know. Yeah, God of the Moon, Moon's moment two. Yeah,
- 27:20Speaker 4: but I feel like we've always learned that it's not spinning, right?
- 27:24Speaker 4: Is it spinning? I don't know. I feel like I
- 27:26Speaker 4: was always like you, always looking at the same moon,
- 27:28Speaker 4: the same side of it.
- 27:29Speaker 8: Yeah, we only have one moon, well the same side
- 27:32Speaker 8: of the moon.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Well, so I always thought that too, but the moon also.
- 27:37Speaker 4: Boom.
- 27:38Speaker 3: All right, I mean we're clearly NASA over here.
- 27:41Speaker 7: Obviously someone's calling the line and they're probably like, let
- 27:45Speaker 7: me tell these idiots shut up about this.
- 27:49Speaker 8: I am dumb for having listen.
- 27:53Speaker 4: Well, just like Lloyd Christmas said, and dumb and number,
- 27:59Speaker 4: we laid it on the moon. M you remember that
- 28:01Speaker 4: scene y'all too young for that movie.
- 28:03Speaker 8: I'm dumber. Yeah, see Dumb Dummer like twenty times.
- 28:06Speaker 3: But you can be too young for a movie and
- 28:08Speaker 3: like still seen it.
- 28:09Speaker 4: Well, that's not what the everybody says when we ask
- 28:12Speaker 4: him about Varsity Blues.
- 28:14Speaker 3: Well, those few are stupid.
- 28:15Speaker 4: I agree, that's everybody.
- 28:17Speaker 9: Is that some more of those cult classics where it's
- 28:20Speaker 9: like you had to be around that time to watch
- 28:24Speaker 9: and like we've seen it because we watch a lot
- 28:25Speaker 9: of sports movies. But like dumb and Dumber, everybody knows that.
- 28:30Speaker 4: Okay, fair enough. We just got a text from Jacob
- 28:32Speaker 4: Pster RB one. We're gonna call him RB one, So here.
- 28:39Speaker 4: It's not very wolf pack in there right now.
- 28:41Speaker 8: Wow. Responding to be like why becomes a rock.
- 28:46Speaker 7: Star one time, I'm gonna say leaving the wolf pack
- 28:53Speaker 7: is not very wolf pack, not real wolf pack.
- 28:57Speaker 4: All right?
- 28:57Speaker 7: Well, Marler said, it's actually been longer than fifty four
- 29:03Speaker 7: years since you've been on the moon because we never
- 29:05Speaker 7: landed on the moon.
- 29:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what I.
- 29:07Speaker 4: Said, Bro, it hadn't been longer. Time never started. Then
- 29:12Speaker 4: if you didn't land on the moon, time never started. Anyway,
- 29:18Speaker 4: guess what we're going. We're not landing on it until
- 29:21Speaker 4: twenty twenty eight. But good for space travel. You got
- 29:26Speaker 4: to get there to start that Moon community, so then
- 29:29Speaker 4: you can get to Mars.
- 29:31Speaker 7: Yeah, like you have to actually get on the Moon.
- 29:35Speaker 7: And they're supposed to be because I went down a
- 29:37Speaker 7: rabbit hole last week for some reason about like space
- 29:41Speaker 7: and stuff.
- 29:42Speaker 3: I was asking Tchatgibt all these questions. So basically I'm
- 29:45Speaker 3: a pro they could probably send me up there.
- 29:49Speaker 7: So they want to put another like the International Space Station.
- 29:53Speaker 7: They want to put one of those on the Moon,
- 29:55Speaker 7: and then that's how you get ready to go to Mars.
- 29:57Speaker 4: Here's my thing, though, how are they going to protect
- 29:58Speaker 4: it from forty five is a mile an hour? Right,
- 30:02Speaker 4: you can put up a net that's faster.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's gonna burn.
- 30:07Speaker 4: Right, I don't even think you can't even create that speed.
- 30:11Speaker 3: I mean you're just gonna have to be dodgy. No,
- 30:12Speaker 3: I guess how are you?
- 30:14Speaker 4: Like? This is speed tested?
- 30:15Speaker 8: Not for this, it's not no logic. Can go she
- 30:18Speaker 8: could replace the Canadian movies.
- 30:20Speaker 3: Send me there the Canadian.
- 30:24Speaker 4: What do you find? Yeah, seriously, there's no reason to
- 30:26Speaker 4: put that guy in there.
- 30:27Speaker 8: What was the first guy's name?
- 30:29Speaker 4: Read? What that was?
- 30:30Speaker 8: That was an astront name if I'd ever heard one.
- 30:33Speaker 9: Oh, we gotta pull it up. That was a great
- 30:35Speaker 9: astronaut name, great astronaut name. Like he's got to be
- 30:39Speaker 9: there read wise man read Wiseman's got to be like
- 30:42Speaker 9: the commander of the group.
- 30:43Speaker 4: Right. Uh, he's the first one listed. So I mean,
- 30:48Speaker 4: I mean I would say yeah. But anyway, it's a
- 30:51Speaker 4: it's a significant situation happening, and that is tomorrow. They're
- 30:55Speaker 4: going tomorrow.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Should we watch it?
- 30:58Speaker 4: Guys?
- 30:58Speaker 8: They're not actually going fool Did you just get got?
- 31:02Speaker 4: No? Because I actually read this. I thought I read
- 31:04Speaker 4: this like a couple of months ago.
- 31:05Speaker 3: To no, I think they are doing that.
- 31:07Speaker 4: Yeah, they are doing it. But yeah, April first, I
- 31:09Speaker 4: just really.
- 31:10Speaker 9: April fools were going back to the Moon because they
- 31:13Speaker 9: never went to the.
- 31:15Speaker 4: Land on it.
- 31:17Speaker 7: I asked, Chu, GBT, how are we going to put
- 31:19Speaker 7: a space station on the Moon if it's always getting
- 31:21Speaker 7: hit by meteors?
- 31:21Speaker 3: And it said, great question.
- 31:24Speaker 8: You got a great question from from mister Chut.
- 31:27Speaker 3: Yeah for you, I'm so dead.
- 31:32Speaker 4: All right, we're gonna go to break, we're gonna come back,
- 31:35Speaker 4: and we're gonna get back into sports a little bit.
- 31:36Speaker 4: We're gonna get off the moon. The sports.
- 31:39Speaker 7: You build it underground, build it underground, and scientists think
- 31:44Speaker 7: the moon has huge love. Can you imagine if you
- 31:46Speaker 7: tried to dig up underground to put a space station
- 31:49Speaker 7: in there you found that's crazy?
- 31:55Speaker 3: Can you imagine digging on the Moon. You just find
- 31:56Speaker 3: all this stuff under the surface.
- 31:58Speaker 7: How many resources, huge lava tubes in there?
- 32:05Speaker 4: But you gotta be pretty far under ground because those
- 32:07Speaker 4: craters are pretty deep. We can see them from Earth.
- 32:11Speaker 4: They're pretty deep. We gotta go to the core. I
- 32:17Speaker 4: don't know if it's possible, as it's possible, do we
- 32:19Speaker 4: really want to do this? Yeah? Okay, all right, we're

- 34:06Speaker 1: Off the Bench with Jacob Hester and Matt Flinn presented
- 34:09Speaker 1: by Community Steel.
- 34:12Speaker 4: All Right, welcome back here Off the Bench on Tuesday nine.
- 34:17Speaker 4: Thanks for joining us, Thanks for sticking with us this
- 34:19Speaker 4: morning tripod Roland Tuesday Show brought to you back Community Steel.
- 34:24Speaker 4: All Right, sign forty. We got a few minutes here
- 34:27Speaker 4: before we get to our last segment of Vasta Bench.
- 34:29Speaker 4: So what we want to do, because we want to
- 34:32Speaker 4: do go around the world, around the country. We want
- 34:35Speaker 4: to crop dust a little sports.
- 34:40Speaker 3: Oh do we have like an open for this?
- 34:42Speaker 4: No, we don't, but I thought we do have jaw rule.
- 34:44Speaker 3: Yeah, I got you with the jaw rule.
- 34:46Speaker 4: All Right, I'm gonna start this thing off with a
- 34:48Speaker 4: little uh. We're gonna go across the poem approximately twelve
- 34:53Speaker 4: tons a Formula one KitKat chocolate bars. We're stolen why
- 34:59Speaker 4: transiting through Europe. So a spokesperson for NESLEI confirmed to
- 35:03Speaker 4: the here on the Athletic Saturday, there was a truck
- 35:07Speaker 4: carrying four hundred and thirteen thousand, seven hundred and ninety
- 35:10Speaker 4: three units of Kitkats stolen the truck. So KitKat has
- 35:16Speaker 4: become F one the official chocolate bar last year. So
- 35:21Speaker 4: this was they were It was F one seventy fifth anniversary.
- 35:24Speaker 4: In twenty twenty six, Kitkats ninetieth anniversary. You know. On
- 35:26Speaker 4: January twenty sixth, twenty twenty six, Nestle announced this year
- 35:30Speaker 4: was marked by Kitkats first season as F one's official
- 35:33Speaker 4: chocolate partner. So they had these special chocolate bars wrapped
- 35:36Speaker 4: with FF one and all this stuff stolen. There's a
- 35:42Speaker 4: chocolate kidnapper out there. He stole four hundred and thirteen thousand,
- 35:45Speaker 4: seven hundred ninety three units of kit Kats. And let
- 35:50Speaker 4: me tell you, Kitkats are good. Ain't that good?
- 35:55Speaker 1: No?
- 35:55Speaker 3: I don't think I ever am like, let me get
- 35:57Speaker 3: a KitKat. Definitely.
- 35:58Speaker 4: I mean I'll eat one and be like, oh that's good.
- 36:00Speaker 4: I wouldn't a Halloween. Post Halloween, I'll take a kit
- 36:02Speaker 4: Cat from a kid.
- 36:03Speaker 3: If it's there, I'm eating it.
- 36:04Speaker 7: Yeah, but I don't ever go out my way, and
- 36:06Speaker 7: I certainly wouldn't put my life in danger or put
- 36:10Speaker 7: myself in the position where I would go to prison.
- 36:13Speaker 8: First of Kitkats, I don't know.
- 36:15Speaker 9: I like cats reeses too, so Matt, it was four
- 36:20Speaker 9: hundred and sixteen thousand individual kitkats. Unbelievable, which is like
- 36:25Speaker 9: I get it to an extent, like if you want
- 36:27Speaker 9: to take three kit Kats, yep, I'm good with it.
- 36:29Speaker 4: What are you gonna do with this? Especially this like
- 36:31Speaker 4: the f one kit Cats, they're specifically marked, so you know,
- 36:36Speaker 4: A great quote here from a KitKat spokesperson. We've always
- 36:40Speaker 4: encouraged people to have a break with KitKat, but it
- 36:42Speaker 4: seems to these have taken the message too literally and
- 36:44Speaker 4: made a break with more than twelve tons of our chocolate.
- 36:48Speaker 3: That's funny.
- 36:50Speaker 4: Goods of them. Maybe it's all a promotion promotional thing.
- 36:53Speaker 8: Maybe maybe smarm I.
- 36:56Speaker 7: Mean, make a chocolate heist talking about kit Kats when
- 36:58Speaker 7: we haven't in probably the history of.
- 37:01Speaker 3: The showp.
- 37:04Speaker 4: Good for them. Yeah, what happening over in Europe?
- 37:07Speaker 3: I have one.
- 37:08Speaker 7: I have a little story I want to crop dust.
- 37:11Speaker 7: Speaking of conspiracy theories, we were talking about the moon
- 37:14Speaker 7: and how we may or may not have landed on
- 37:16Speaker 7: it last segment. If you remember, during football season, especially
- 37:20Speaker 7: toward the end of football season, this theory started definitely
- 37:24Speaker 7: getting floated around the internet, the forty nine ers and
- 37:29Speaker 7: their injuries being correlated to an electrical substation that is
- 37:35Speaker 7: across the street from their practice facility. You know, there
- 37:39Speaker 7: was a bunch of people making threads on Twitter trying
- 37:41Speaker 7: to make an argument for it that they could be
- 37:44Speaker 7: getting like some EMF waves forward them and they could
- 37:48Speaker 7: be yea soft tissue dances and a lot of achilles injuries.
- 37:52Speaker 3: Over there in San fran But there.
- 37:55Speaker 7: John Lynch was actually asked about it at the owners
- 37:59Speaker 7: meetings out there, and he said that they hired an
- 38:03Speaker 7: independent scientist to research the substation because it started it
- 38:09Speaker 7: started getting into players heads, like the players the players
- 38:12Speaker 7: were like right, So the players even were thinking like, Okay,
- 38:16Speaker 7: maybe it is a substation. So they hired an independent
- 38:19Speaker 7: scientist and the scientists basically said it was a nothing
- 38:22Speaker 7: burger and that they're safe and that the levels are
- 38:25Speaker 7: four hundred times less than an unsafe zone. Yeah, but
- 38:31Speaker 7: just for reference, the forty nine ers health by season.
- 38:34Speaker 7: In twenty twenty four, they were the number one most
- 38:36Speaker 7: injured team in the NFL. In twenty twenty two they
- 38:41Speaker 7: were number nine, and twenty one they were number three,
- 38:43Speaker 7: and twenty twenty they were number one, and in twenty
- 38:46Speaker 7: eighteen they.
- 38:47Speaker 8: Were number four.
- 38:47Speaker 7: So they are a very injury prone team, and they're
- 38:53Speaker 7: over here trying to say science.
- 38:55Speaker 3: YEA, I was gonna say, like, when you make you the.
- 38:57Speaker 7: Experts right now, if you hire an independent side scientists
- 39:00Speaker 7: to do it, how do you know that the.
- 39:02Speaker 3: Scientist isn't just trying to placate you.
- 39:06Speaker 9: Whether the scientists said yes or no, they hired an
- 39:10Speaker 9: independent scientist. They believe that, at least partly, they wouldn't
- 39:14Speaker 9: have hired anybody if they didn't think there.
- 39:15Speaker 4: Was I was a player on the same I'm hiring
- 39:17Speaker 4: my own sign. I'm getting a second opinion on this research.
- 39:19Speaker 4: I don't trust this guy, some weasel.
- 39:24Speaker 3: Taylor's so fired over about this. He just broke his mic.
- 39:27Speaker 4: Good for you look at this. Huh oh wow, No,
- 39:31Speaker 4: it's actually broke that's done this before. Fair enough. Well,
- 39:36Speaker 4: that's fascinating stuff. I hope that we can get another
- 39:38Speaker 4: scientist one because obviously it's true.
- 39:43Speaker 7: Well, it's just it feels super shady to me when
- 39:45Speaker 7: an independent scientist is involved.
- 39:47Speaker 6: You know.
- 39:47Speaker 4: That's like when an independent scientist is the person that
- 39:51Speaker 4: exposed it in the first place.
- 39:53Speaker 7: Right, and what is he? A scientist? On substations specifically,
- 40:00Speaker 7: m former and current players said they'd always looked at
- 40:08Speaker 7: the nearby sub station and wondered whether the power lines
- 40:11Speaker 7: and electrical coils could have been having an adverse effect.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Well, I mean you always like when your kids they're like, oh,
- 40:17Speaker 4: well the kid was raised under the power lines, right,
- 40:20Speaker 4: whatever that means, there's something to this.
- 40:25Speaker 8: I got one here for you.
- 40:27Speaker 9: I know you have been banging the drum for Garrett
- 40:29Speaker 9: Nels where to be drafted by the LA Rams. Bad
- 40:32Speaker 9: news for you, Matt, it may not happen. Now they
- 40:34Speaker 9: only have Kirk Cousins. I mean, uh, Matthew Stafford and
- 40:37Speaker 9: Stetson Bennett on the roster.
- 40:39Speaker 4: Now.
- 40:39Speaker 9: Jimmy Garoppolo is a free agent tested his options yesterday.
- 40:43Speaker 9: Though Sean McVay was asked if they have interest in
- 40:46Speaker 9: bringing back Jimmy g He said, yeah, but there's another
- 40:49Speaker 9: option to look out for. It's for eagent quarterback Kirk Cousins.
- 40:52Speaker 9: He said, Kirk's as influential as anybody in helping me
- 40:55Speaker 9: get to LA in the first place. He said, I
- 40:57Speaker 9: know he has some other options, but he said, Jimmy
- 41:01Speaker 9: and Kirk are guys that we looked at that we
- 41:02Speaker 9: would love to be able to have with us. And
- 41:05Speaker 9: obviously McVeigh was on staff in Washington back in twelve
- 41:11Speaker 9: to sixteen before he became head coach. Kirk Cousins won
- 41:14Speaker 9: the starting quarterback job for the Redskins there, so there's
- 41:17Speaker 9: familiarity there. So maybe Kirk Cousins to the La Rams.
- 41:21Speaker 9: I don't know if that kills your Garrett Nosemayer to
- 41:24Speaker 9: the Rams, but hurt.
- 41:26Speaker 4: I mean, it feels like Kirkson position is just kind
- 41:28Speaker 4: of like wait it out and wait till there's a
- 41:31Speaker 4: spot to go play and make an impact. But we'll
- 41:34Speaker 4: see see what happens. I'd still like him to go there.
- 41:36Speaker 4: He can learn from two vets. Why not. It's not
- 41:41Speaker 4: like he's gonna go play anywhere. You don't want Garrett
- 41:43Speaker 4: to go play anywhere. Immediately him to chill learn, give
- 41:47Speaker 4: it a good system. That's interesting, though, Kirk Cousins and Stafford.
- 41:52Speaker 7: On the same Did y'all see the coach that punched
- 41:54Speaker 7: a referee out of youth seven?
- 41:56Speaker 4: Did see? I saw the picture of it. He related
- 41:59Speaker 4: to Dan Hurling, like what are we doing? Guys? Like
- 42:03Speaker 4: football is not that serious.
- 42:04Speaker 3: And it's like kids just pay Come on man.
- 42:07Speaker 4: Yeah, that reps knocked out cold and the guy had
- 42:08Speaker 4: his hands up like this.
- 42:10Speaker 7: Yeah, the insane build. The guy that punched him insane build.
- 42:17Speaker 4: Mm hmm yeah, all right, anything else real quick.
- 42:23Speaker 9: Anthony Edwards missed the starting lineup last night. He missed
- 42:26Speaker 9: tip off and they called it nature call. So my
- 42:28Speaker 9: guy had some bathroom business to attend to his first
- 42:31Speaker 9: game back. He wound up having to come off the bench.
- 42:33Speaker 9: Bubble guts he did. He pulled out Lamar Jackson.
- 42:37Speaker 4: Nice. All right, there it is crop us some sports
- 42:41Speaker 4: something we need to do a little bit more. Maybe
- 42:42Speaker 4: maybe it's like we get to where it's like kind
- 42:44Speaker 4: of rapid fire. I don't know. We're gonna masaging that
- 42:46Speaker 4: one out a little bit, but it's good to kind.
- 42:47Speaker 8: Of nothing talking about some stuff.
- 42:50Speaker 4: That's a great point. All right, Before we get a break,
- 42:51Speaker 4: I want to tell you about friends over at Tommy's
- 42:53Speaker 4: Tommy's windows, doors, siding. There we go. Yo, Tommy, that's right.
- 42:58Speaker 4: If you got a project happening, if you building the house,
- 43:02Speaker 4: maybe you just have some some moved into a new house,
- 43:05Speaker 4: kind of like when we did. We had to ride
- 43:07Speaker 4: it windows, we had ride it doors, We had to
- 43:08Speaker 4: kind of change everything before we could even move in. Uh,
- 43:11Speaker 4: make sure you give them a call, talk to them
- 43:12Speaker 4: about the project. We know you're gonna call a couple
- 43:14Speaker 4: of different companies and get some pricing. Make sure that

- 43:23Speaker 4: single year since twenty sixteen. They way they win that
- 43:25Speaker 4: Angie Super Service Award and anything they install, guess what
- 43:28Speaker 4: lifetime warranty not a big deal? Is that a long time?
