- 1:00SPEAKER_01: Today, we're wrapping up my mini-series on the five phases of the entrepreneur.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: And this is episode five, the visionary CEO.
- 1:10SPEAKER_01: Phase one is the doer.
- 1:12SPEAKER_01: Phase two is the awakening.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: Phase three is the builder.
- 1:15SPEAKER_01: Phase four is the leader.
- 1:17SPEAKER_01: And phase five is where you stop building a job and start building assets, leverage, and long-term impact beyond the day-to-day.
- 1:26SPEAKER_01: If you're ready to think in years instead of weeks, this episode's for you.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: Let's get to it.
- 1:34SPEAKER_01: Woohoo! We've we've made it to episode five or the of the five phases of the entrepreneurial quick rank quick framework.
- 1:44SPEAKER_01: So I'm just gonna repeat it because that's what we've done for the other four, and we might as well.
- 1:49SPEAKER_00: Um, we want you to go back and listen to the others to catch up to this last consistency is key.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: So phase one is the doer.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: We'll just be give a short synopsis so you guys can go back and listen.
- 2:03SPEAKER_01: Phase two is the awakening, phase three is the builder, phase four is the leader.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: We talked all about leadership in the last episode, and phase five, what we're gonna talk about today, drum roll, please, is it's the visionary CEO where you're building, I can't even talk articulation, where you're building assets.
- 2:22SPEAKER_01: That almost was a bad word.
- 2:24SPEAKER_01: Leverage and long-term impact beyond the day-to-day operations.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: For example, opening up a remote location in another state, or opening up in the same state but a faraway location, or adding in short-term rental cleaning, or a laundry service.
- 2:41SPEAKER_01: These are all long-term goals that you can plan or even be immediate short-term goals.
- 2:46SPEAKER_01: But it's making a product, or making a product like what Jamie has done.
- 2:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, I would have never when we when we started first started talking four years ago, I could have never I couldn't have told her she was gonna invent a product.
- 2:58SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: I I guess we have the two other product makers who shall not be named to thank for this this opinion.
- 3:07SPEAKER_00: Yeah, pushing the pushing my me forward.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: It's like, why not?
- 3:13SPEAKER_00: So yeah, we're at the vision, it we're at the last and final phase, and this I don't think gets talked about enough in our industry.
- 3:24SPEAKER_00: I I think that at the end of it all, this is what our ultimate dream is.
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: Um, I really would love to be able to build something and keep it here, and while it's still running, living someplace else, which is very possible.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And it's possible because I have put and built things that don't rely on me so much, but I'm still building but something different, right?
- 4:02SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 4:05SPEAKER_01: Still building, there's still you're still adding layers on it, and with the industry changing so quickly.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: I mean, I you could have never have told me five years ago that we would be in the spot that we're in in the cleaning industry.
- 4:17SPEAKER_01: I mean, so much has changed in five years.
- 4:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, there was a lot of change in the 15 years I've been doing this, but a lot, a lot of things have changed for our industry.
- 4:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: There's a lot more possibility.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: I feel like we are like the first settlers here in America where we came across the country and we pitched our stake in the ground and that was ours, right?
- 4:37SPEAKER_01: It's just we're we're at that level in the cleaning industry because I still, and I know I sound preachy when I say this, I consider us the 23rd trade.
- 4:45SPEAKER_01: It hands down, it takes skill.
- 4:47SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of knowledge.
- 4:48SPEAKER_01: It's just yeah, anyone can clean to some degree, but we all know that not everyone knows how to clean.
- 4:54SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: But it's also about building a business and a company, income, future income.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: Not not just the here and the now, not this next week.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: We're talking, we're we're looking into years.
- 5:12SPEAKER_00: I'm not looking at, I'm no longer crunching the numbers of this month, next month.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: I am starting to now crunch numbers for this year.
- 5:25SPEAKER_00: What is this gonna generate me for this year and then next year?
- 5:30SPEAKER_00: And like remembering that you know, there's price increases, there's this, there's that.
- 5:37SPEAKER_00: But I'm putting it structured just so that that is an automatic, and I can do uh start running remotely.
- 5:49SPEAKER_00: I mean, I really, really, really want to do that.
- 5:52SPEAKER_01: I think oftentimes that when we get into this industry, we create a job, J O B just overbroke, and you can actually turn it into something more than that, and where it's your business.
- 6:04SPEAKER_01: You who was it that I was talking to?
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: I can't remember off the top of my head.
- 6:08SPEAKER_01: Someone who's been in our industry had mentioned how his his business, I can't, it'll come to me later, I guarantee it.
- 6:15SPEAKER_01: How his businesses he anticipates how much money he's gonna earn off each business.
- 6:20SPEAKER_01: I believe he has nine businesses, nine separate little businesses.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Well, they're not little, some of them are huge, and and how much money and how much income he's going to earn and what he's going to do with it.
- 6:31SPEAKER_01: That is the mindset that we want you to think about when you're being the visionary, the CEO of whatever your empire is that you're creating.
- 6:40SPEAKER_01: And if you don't want to create an empire and you still want to be solo, you should be making 100K easily.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: And if you're not, reach out to me.
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: I'm happy to answer questions.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: Jamie's happy to answer questions.
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Everyone who should who is doing this, the minimum you should be making is 100 grand at this point.
- 6:57SPEAKER_01: There should be no reason why you can't.
- 6:59SPEAKER_01: And it's okay if you don't want to be the visionary and the CEO, but this is catered to the people who do want it, who want to do something a little bit different.
- 7:08SPEAKER_01: And this is, like I said, we're like the first frontiers coming across America, stake putting a stake in the in the land of the cleaning business opportunities.
- 7:18SPEAKER_01: So it's really is not about working less for the sake of working less, it's about operating from a different altitude.
- 7:24SPEAKER_01: So you're looking from above down below, and you're you're piecing things together to see how you can make it better for yourself and for your employees.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:34SPEAKER_01: This is the phase where you stop asking, how do I handle this?
- 7:37SPEAKER_01: And you start asking, what should exist so this doesn't rely on me.
- 7:40SPEAKER_01: Things the day-to-day operations should not rely on you at this point, they should rely on others, and that's coming from delegation, like what Jamie did in phase four.
- 7:50SPEAKER_01: And you're your thinking shifts from execution to architecture, so you're building something big.
- 7:56SPEAKER_01: And then there's a quiet shift into vision, where you see yourself in five years, what this is gonna do for you.
- 8:03SPEAKER_01: And phase five often arrives quietly.
- 8:05SPEAKER_01: You just get there and you twiddle your thumbs, and you're like, I don't have anything to do, which is a nice place to be in, right?
- 8:13SPEAKER_00: It is it I and it this for me, I'm not so much in this phase as I am the others, but I'm working to get to this phase, and it is it does show up quietly, and it's like how do you I don't even know how you realize it.
- 8:34SPEAKER_00: It's just you realize it whenever you're twiddle, like Shannon said, twiddling your thumbs and like oh, I'm here, and sometimes I can get it's like for me, it's like it's not so much panic, it's just like I'm up here.
- 8:59SPEAKER_00: I'm up here, and my mind is way bigger than the business.
- 9:33SPEAKER_00: It is the business, but it's way bigger than that.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: You're like the head of the business versus I'm just the business, and there's a whole different concept and mindset that comes along with that.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: Um we watched someone in the cleaning industry who created a product who started to delegate at some of the things from making her product and then ended up causing harm to herself because she didn't plan accordingly, and it was an unfortunate situation to watch.
- 10:05SPEAKER_01: So don't be that person, be the person who decides intentionally what you want to do and where you want to go.
- 10:11SPEAKER_01: And I and it it's sometimes what you proclaim and one day, five years later, isn't gonna be where you anticipated landing, it just ends up being in a different version of yourself.
- 10:22SPEAKER_01: And like Jamie said, she never when she first got in it, there was no way making a product was not even on the radar, it was just a it was, and it was very accidental.
- 10:35SPEAKER_00: It wasn't accidental, uh, it was intentional, actually.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: The circumstances that led up to it were were embarrassing.
- 10:44SPEAKER_00: If you'd have told me five years ago that I would be making uh my own cleaning product and getting learning all these legality legalities of all of this, and I'm doing it, you I would have laughed at you.
- 11:00SPEAKER_00: I was like, all right.
- 11:02SPEAKER_01: Um so so your decisions for when you're in the CEO role, the decisions are long term.
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: You're the leader of the company, you're you're doing the long-term vision, opening up into second market.
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: I know Jamie has mentioned that before in the past.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: We'll see if that actually happens this year, or maybe it happens next year.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: We'll see.
- 11:20SPEAKER_01: Problems feel more strategic than urgent.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: So it gives you time to actually piece the puzzle together.
- 11:27SPEAKER_01: And sometimes, as you know, if especially if you're doing a really hard puzzle, not all the pieces you're trying to get the out, usually from what I've seen, you do the border first, so you have a frame, and then you start to piece the pieces together.
- 11:39SPEAKER_01: Well, if they're very similar in color, you're kind of fitting a piece puzzle piece here.
- 11:43SPEAKER_01: No, that one doesn't work.
- 11:44SPEAKER_01: Okay, how about this one?
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: Well, how about this one?
- 11:46SPEAKER_01: And then it's kind of you're kind of trying things out to see if they work.
- 11:49SPEAKER_01: And sometimes they work great and sometimes they don't.
- 11:53SPEAKER_01: And then you're you're relying on input from others, right?
- 11:55SPEAKER_01: Well, I did this and this is what happened.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: Let me know if you do this because I want to know what happens to you.
- 12:00SPEAKER_01: Maybe your your output will be different than what my output was.
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: And you're thinking in years instead of weeks.
- 12:06SPEAKER_01: So again, I mentioned a five-year plan.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: And when I was younger, when people go, Well, what's your five-year plan?
- 12:12SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I can't even think past next month, let alone 12 months or five years from now.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Because in your 20s, you're you're foot loose and fancy for you.
- 12:19SPEAKER_01: At least I was.
- 12:20SPEAKER_01: I'm even in the beginning stages of your your your business.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, you're you're like, I'm just trying to make it to the end of the week.
- 12:31SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 12:32SPEAKER_00: I'd be just trying to make it to the end of the day.
- 12:34SPEAKER_00: Like, you know, let me get all these clients done.
- 12:38SPEAKER_00: I I have some friends that are always how how many, how many do you have on for this week?
- 12:43SPEAKER_00: How many clients do you have for this week?
- 12:45SPEAKER_00: And it's like, I see, you know, five and six, and and this is that's great.
- 12:51SPEAKER_00: That's there's nothing I'm like 30.
- 12:53SPEAKER_00: We got 30 this week.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Sometimes it's 50.
- 12:58SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and then it'll be 50.
- 12:59SPEAKER_00: I I remember, I remember in the beginning, I was just man, I was just trying to make it at least one person a day, right?
- 13:09SPEAKER_00: And and now here we are at 30 a week, and you're yeah, you're not thinking about you're you're thinking long term, right?
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: You start the vision boards, a vision board.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: When's the last time you ever did a vision board?
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Or have you ever done one?
- 13:27SPEAKER_01: A couple years since I've done one.
- 13:29SPEAKER_01: I probably should do one for this year because I have a really long list of things that I need to accomplish.
- 13:34SPEAKER_00: We really should.
- 13:35SPEAKER_00: I think that that would be great for all of us to to dry and and maybe throw it up on Facebook and hashtag vision board 2026 cleaning business live podcast.
- 13:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, maybe we should drop that in the in the group to see who shows up in the channel.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: That would be a lot of fun.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: So we can start holding each other accountable too.
- 14:00SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 14:02SPEAKER_00: Uh it can be lonely out there, you guys, whenever you're up so high, because not everybody's ideals are the same.
- 14:12SPEAKER_00: The my friends now are everybody that's in this business.
- 14:18SPEAKER_00: That is that a lot of it, it's it's powerful to be in a room full of people of this is all they do, and the the the ideas that get generated and the friendships that are made, these are this is the vision that I'm trying to get to.
- 14:42SPEAKER_00: These are the friends with the friends that I'm trying to get, you know, have uh to lean in with each other, you know.
- 14:50SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 14:52SPEAKER_01: So when you make it to the CEO role, you're no longer managing the business.
- 14:57SPEAKER_01: It's it's really to shape the future.
- 14:58SPEAKER_01: So, where do you want to go?
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: So you get to in in some instances, you can cherry pick.
- 15:03SPEAKER_01: Maybe, maybe you want to operate in five markets, maybe you want to sell your business and start another business over here.
- 15:09SPEAKER_01: Maybe that's what you do.
- 15:10SPEAKER_01: You become a business broker.
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: There are so many things and so many opportunities in our industry right now.
- 15:16SPEAKER_01: These are these are being from operator to architect, right?
- 15:20SPEAKER_01: Earlier phrases required your presence.
- 15:23SPEAKER_01: This phrase requires your perspective.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: So the broader your perspective, the greater impact you can make on your business.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: And as Jamie did say, it is, it can be lonely.
- 15:34SPEAKER_01: So having other people who are in the same boat as you, most of us are women, and I'm not knocking the guys.
- 15:41SPEAKER_01: I love you, but most of us have, you know, and I mentioned this a lot.
- 15:45SPEAKER_01: There's being a CEO is great, but you still have drop off and pickup, right?
- 15:51SPEAKER_01: I still gotta get those kids.
- 15:53SPEAKER_01: I'm gonna be mad and pick them up at 315.
- 15:55SPEAKER_01: So there we have a different set of dynamics, and it's not just me, it's not just Jamie.
- 16:00SPEAKER_01: There are thousands of us who operate within the spectrum of and pickup, at least in America, yeah.
- 16:07SPEAKER_00: Across the country, I you know, and and yeah, but you do you move from running tasks, doing designing the systems, putting everything in place.
- 16:19SPEAKER_00: You you've done that.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: You've done that, you've done that with your employees, you you've designed all that, and you're you're moving to move solving problems and preventing them from through structure and alignment, right?
- 16:37SPEAKER_01: Becomes less visible but more impactful, and having small, even the small moves are impactable because they eventually will add up to create a bigger thing if if you know how to structure it just right.
- 16:52SPEAKER_01: And sometimes it'll happen by default because you keep trying and trying and trying, and then eventually it'll all snap together like a bunch of magnets.
- 17:00SPEAKER_01: You're like, I did it! I did it!
- 17:05SPEAKER_00: Rightfully so, you can definitely say I did it because you do, and you're doing it, you're you're doing it, but this this is again.
- 17:14SPEAKER_00: This phase might not be for everyone.
- 17:17SPEAKER_00: This is definitely I all ears on this one.
- 17:22SPEAKER_00: I'm all ears on this one because this is where I do want to be more impactful in my community.
- 17:30SPEAKER_00: I love anything more than to create, you know, employee pick out a charitable cause that above all cleaning services could donate to, or above all naturals could donate to.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: We're being more community and like you said, impactful.
- 17:53SPEAKER_00: I would love that.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: So it really does become assets over efforts because your assets are what keep the paychecks coming.
- 18:02SPEAKER_01: Your assets are what allows you to do charitable acts, give back to your community.
- 18:08SPEAKER_01: Um, your assets are what you can copyright if you were a writer, or what you've created, or the dynamic of leading in that direction.
- 18:16SPEAKER_01: I mean, there's so much going on in the industry, and it does give you leverage and scalability.
- 18:22SPEAKER_01: And then it has transfer value.
- 18:24SPEAKER_01: Should you sell or not want to sell and you just want a gift?
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: And it and it could look like in a intellectual property, there's training frameworks, and sometimes all start out with a training framework, and maybe Jamie, because she's in it, comes up with a better method, and then that's that that training framework is even better because I didn't see it, because there's more technology available, and then it just goes layer upon layer upon layer.
- 18:47SPEAKER_01: Um, and then there's licensing models.
- 18:49SPEAKER_01: Jamie's gonna learn all about this very soon, and and then there's partnerships.
- 18:56SPEAKER_01: You can do collabs with different businesses in your area where it's a mutual partnership, or you could do a non-mutual partnership, it just depends on what you are ready to do, and then brands that operate without constant oversight.
- 19:09SPEAKER_01: So we know somebody who has a hundred employees, she's a brand that probably doesn't require a lot of oversight because there's it's just a big machine that runs on a day-to-day basis, and and it's uh in this industry, so to say that you can't do I don't want to hear that anymore.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: And and this person lives in a remote state, so it can't be remote uh in a very small town, just like everybody else, right?
- 19:36SPEAKER_00: You know, but the her vision is much bigger than that now.
- 19:44SPEAKER_00: She's already got all the systems in place, obviously, with a hundred employees, you obviously have a system down, right?
- 19:53SPEAKER_00: So now you're you're just you're you're not constant, you have people overseeing other stuff, right?
- 20:02SPEAKER_01: She's onto something, something whole different kind of watch and see, especially in this next year.
- 20:07SPEAKER_01: If does she hit 200 employees?
- 20:09SPEAKER_01: Will she take up more?
- 20:10SPEAKER_01: Will she take up five markets instead of just two?
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: It there's all there's a lot of things that are you just have to open your eyes and see.
- 20:17SPEAKER_01: And I know Jamie and I talked about the loneliness at the top, but this phase comes with a few people who really talk about growth, and it really can be isolating.
- 20:26SPEAKER_01: So you it really does come down to relationship building.
- 20:29SPEAKER_01: I cannot emphasize that enough.
- 20:31SPEAKER_01: For those of you who caught my talk in the Maid Summit, I talked about collaboration over competition.
- 20:35SPEAKER_01: You really could it really does come down to your relationships that you have with others, especially in this industry.
- 20:41SPEAKER_01: For a long time, when I first got in this game, we didn't talk to nobody, nobody, because they were gonna steal what I had, and subsequently I worked really hard to scrape up to the top, and you should too.
- 20:53SPEAKER_01: And that's not and that was an old school, that was what I was taught, right?
- 20:57SPEAKER_01: This is how you did it, and nobody you got you gotta, you know, the crabs in the buck, you gotta pull them down, pull them down, pull them down.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: And I 15 years in no longer believe, well, I think after three or four years I stopped believing it, but I no longer think that it's a viable business model.
- 21:13SPEAKER_01: I really genuinely feel that collaboration over competition is so important in our industry.
- 21:18SPEAKER_01: And I'm not talking about giving a whole bunch of free information away all the time, but I I see small little doors opening for people that never were able to have it open before because we're all taking time to mentor others, and that's where I see the bubbles starting to surface.
- 21:32SPEAKER_01: I'm like, oh, this is gonna be a good thing.
- 21:34SPEAKER_00: Well, you look at you look at there's a there's all these conventions and all these business that are specifically for our industry, right?
- 21:45SPEAKER_00: And there's hundreds, hundreds of people that go to this from all across the America, right?
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: Clean con ISSA, what was the other one?
- 21:57SPEAKER_01: I carry I there's too many to uh there's several of them now.
- 22:00SPEAKER_00: I'm like, oh my gosh.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: I I can't think of it off top, anyways.
- 22:07SPEAKER_00: It's totally okay, but you know, those people have already built their systems, they've already done everything.
- 22:14SPEAKER_00: That's who I want to be.
- 22:16SPEAKER_00: That I want to be in those rooms with those people because they've already they're they've got it, and they're not looking at like, oh, she's coming over here to take my no, they're collaborating and coming up with ideas and and hey, this worked for me, it might work for you over in your your air neck of the woods, or it don't even matter anymore.
- 22:39SPEAKER_00: It don't matter, it's not even if it's in your neck of the woods, it's it's your neck of the woods should be collaborating.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: We should be like taking over this industry together, right?
- 22:54SPEAKER_01: Right, and adding standards in place so that it's not wonky where one person's doing one thing and 58 other people are doing one other thing.
- 23:02SPEAKER_00: It's like, hey, uh, you know, our our I've been getting these prices for so long, I promise you you can get them too.
- 23:10SPEAKER_00: Let's talk about it so that we are, but we're not talking about that, you know.
- 23:15SPEAKER_00: But we are collaborating, you guys.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: I think that we're getting better with the pricing.
- 23:21SPEAKER_01: I still hear to this day.
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: I can't get those prices in my town.
- 23:25SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I live in a small town.
- 23:26SPEAKER_01: I get those prices all the time.
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: Why can't you get those prices?
- 23:28SPEAKER_01: It's because they haven't tried.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: And I'm not trying to dissuade you from listening to what I'm saying or what they're saying.
- 23:35SPEAKER_01: I'm saying that you can try and that there are people out there who value what you do, who value what your clean techs do, and understand that we're an actual trade, a business, air quotes.
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: And so that you can actually earn money.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: And if you think about it, we're the only trade or industry that gives back intentionally.
- 23:56SPEAKER_01: I don't know of any other industry that doesn't.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: We don't we haven't created a non-for-profit because we have too much money we owe in taxes.
- 24:03SPEAKER_01: We created non-for-profits or entities because we genuinely see a need in the industry to offer free cleanings.
- 24:10SPEAKER_01: So there's that difference.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of things going on that you can actually do to make impact for yourself that will benefit the industry in the longer term.
- 24:20SPEAKER_00: So being isolated is a very optional thing.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: It is.
- 25:24SPEAKER_01: Significant others are the same way.
- 25:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:26SPEAKER_01: Especially if they're not an entrepreneur themselves, it's really hard to swallow that pill.
- 25:31SPEAKER_01: It's a big, ugly pill.
- 25:32SPEAKER_01: It kind of chokes on the way down.
- 25:33SPEAKER_01: You're like, Yeah, understand and see what I see.
- 25:36SPEAKER_01: And they they're like, oh my god, this is it's because they're afraid, they don't understand.
- 25:40SPEAKER_00: Yeah, right, right.
- 25:42SPEAKER_01: It's hard to sing for dinner all the time, you know.
- 25:45SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, being being collaborating is is a big deal, especially in this industry.
- 25:51SPEAKER_00: You have somebody to lean on.
- 25:54SPEAKER_00: I've made great friends along the way here, and that's basically who I have surrounded myself with, and I I'll continue to.
- 26:06SPEAKER_00: So intentional connection is a choice.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: Yes, vision without alignment creates chaos.
- 26:16SPEAKER_00: One of the biggest risks in phase five is moving faster than alignment allows.
- 26:22SPEAKER_00: I see that a lot, right?
- 26:24SPEAKER_01: Right crash and burn.
- 26:26SPEAKER_01: It's like, oh, that hurts.
- 26:27SPEAKER_01: I gotta rip that band-aid off right now.
- 26:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and uh yeah, I've done that.
- 26:35SPEAKER_00: I've done that.
- 26:36SPEAKER_00: It's just like, whoa, I it's because I was just going just all over the place, right?
- 26:44SPEAKER_00: Just blah blah blah blah, hands all over the place.
- 26:47SPEAKER_00: I look like an octopus grabbing onto everything, and yeah, that you know, but I get you know the thing is is that I get up and I dust myself off.
- 26:57SPEAKER_00: That was a learning opportunity in the moment.
- 27:01SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I'm like, boo-hoo, Shannon, Shannon, uh and but then it's like, well, wait a minute, uh what gosh, she's Shannon has probably seen all phases of every everything with me.
- 27:19SPEAKER_00: And it's at the moment, yeah, it's like it's such a tragedy, and then it's like, well, wait, it just you get up and you dust yourself off, and what you do with the information, whatever happened, to it, you know, make sure that it doesn't happen again, right?
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: You get up, you die, dust yourself off, and look at it as a learning opportunity.
- 27:43SPEAKER_00: So you need yeah, it's leadership maturity.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: That's exactly what it is, right?
- 27:52SPEAKER_01: It is, and there's also clear values, operational alignment.
- 27:56SPEAKER_01: So I and I know the the big thing for a lot of companies is what is your you know, your statement, your you know, your business your mission statement.
- 28:06SPEAKER_01: I remember going, what you want me to do?
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: What?
- 28:08SPEAKER_01: What is my mission statement?
- 28:10SPEAKER_01: And this is before AI, and you can be, you know, you could plock it into chat GPT and go, I like these qualities.
- 28:16SPEAKER_01: Can you make me a mission statement for this?
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: My chat GPT is a little more personal than a lot of others, but yeah, there it is leadership maturity, and it's not panicking every time something goes wrong.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: You have to kind of watch things unfold, and that's probably hard because that comes back to control, right?
- 28:33SPEAKER_01: Letting go of that control, and then it goes back to the what the emotion, right?
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: Oh yes, yes, it is, and that creates instability as well.
- 28:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it does, and it's at every level, every decision ripples outward.
- 28:47SPEAKER_00: That's so true.
- 28:48SPEAKER_00: You're no longer asking, can we do this?
- 28:51SPEAKER_00: You're asking, should this exist at all?
- 28:54SPEAKER_01: And sometimes it doesn't.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: I've done things, created it.
- 28:57SPEAKER_01: Um my my vision, because the shower gods, I'm like, oh my god, this is gonna be fantastic, and then I piece it all together and I'm like, oh, oh we're gonna we're not gonna do that anymore after today.
- 29:09SPEAKER_01: And they're like, but you work so hard.
- 29:10SPEAKER_01: I'm like, no, nope, nope, nope, nope, nope.
- 29:15SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and that's too many times, yeah.
- 29:19SPEAKER_00: Well, and that's our our mission statement.
- 29:21SPEAKER_00: We're we you know, now we're we're trying to like I said, I'm working really hard on the I'm not quite at this phase yet.
- 29:33SPEAKER_00: I'm in and out, and again, it like Shannon said, it does show up quietly.
- 29:39SPEAKER_00: It's a very subtle, it's not all at once, and you like, yes, I got it.
- 29:47SPEAKER_00: It's a very slow realization uh of this phase.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: This phase is a slow, but we're trying to do alignment with our mission statement, uh hiring to our core values before it was hiring whoever had a pulse.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: Guilty, guilty, I've done it.
- 30:11SPEAKER_00: I'll take yeah, yeah, you you breathe our arms.
- 30:17SPEAKER_00: Um, now it's more intentional.
- 30:20SPEAKER_00: This year is for us, is more about being more atten and intentional with my moves, right?
- 30:30SPEAKER_00: That makes sense.
- 30:30SPEAKER_01: And you you say no more often.
- 30:33SPEAKER_01: A lot of people go, God, you're just mean.
- 30:34SPEAKER_01: I'm like, no, if I just say no a lot, doesn't a peg hole, you just don't work.
- 30:40SPEAKER_00: Well, it's taken uh again, you've taken the emotion out of it and you've set that boundary, and it's somewheres in in your file, in your mini playbook, in your SOP, in whatever you want to call it.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: For us, it's an SOP that was a boundary that was set a long time ago.
- 31:00SPEAKER_00: Again, it comes easier, and the emotion has been taken out of it for you.
- 31:06SPEAKER_00: You did that, you you did that, you created that so that you don't have any of those mental blocks, so that whenever you're able to pass the torch off to somebody that you've trained, oh, right here it says I'm not allowed to do that, so I'm not gonna do that.
- 31:25SPEAKER_00: That person has taken the emotion out of it, it's so much easier, right?
- 31:30SPEAKER_01: Definitely, and then you have to protect your focus aggressively.
- 31:33SPEAKER_01: There'll be lots of distractors.
- 31:35SPEAKER_01: I get them at 4 a.m.
- 31:37SPEAKER_01: on my messenger or through uh hey, I don't I hope you don't mind me messaging you through a text message.
- 31:42SPEAKER_01: I'm like, it's 4 a.m.
- 31:44SPEAKER_01: What could this person?
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: Because they, you know, I'm in a different time zone than a lot of everybody else, which is time zones, but it's the sense of urgency that happens, like, hey, can you help me with this?
- 31:53SPEAKER_01: I'm like, yeah, I don't have a problem.
- 31:55SPEAKER_01: But today, for example, I'll just give a hypothetical.
- 31:59SPEAKER_01: I we do when we we batch everything because we have kids and we drop off on pickups.
- 32:04SPEAKER_01: So typically on Thursdays, we're batching podcasts.
- 32:07SPEAKER_01: I usually don't allow anything other than what we're doing today into my realm.
- 32:12SPEAKER_01: I don't have time to walk you through a bid, I don't have time to look at your photographs, I don't have time to answer your phone.
- 32:18SPEAKER_01: I it you should have pre-planned a little sooner.
- 32:21SPEAKER_01: I would I'm I'm always happy to help out another business owner, but there's a time and a place for it.
- 32:26unknown: Right.
- 32:26SPEAKER_01: And put this sense of urgency and this guilt behind it, it makes it like right.
- 32:32SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it just gives you a sour taste in your mouth.
- 32:35SPEAKER_00: Like, okay.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 32:36SPEAKER_01: But that you have to protect your focus aggressively.
- 32:39SPEAKER_01: And then I'm like, I'm really sorry.
- 32:40SPEAKER_01: I can do this after the fact, after today, this afternoon, or maybe tomorrow, but I don't have time today.
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: Um you have to choose depth over expansion.
- 32:49SPEAKER_01: So when you expand too fast, things can happen.
- 32:54SPEAKER_01: It's trial by fire, right?
- 32:55SPEAKER_01: Nobody comes up to you and says, Oh, me, me, me, me, me, me, me, me give it, give it to me.
- 33:00SPEAKER_01: I want trial by fire, please, please, please, please, please, give me trial by fire.
- 33:02SPEAKER_01: I love it, I love it.
- 33:05SPEAKER_00: They don't know, right?
- 33:07SPEAKER_01: And so you want to build for longevity, and then you don't want to build for applause.
- 33:12SPEAKER_01: I know it's really easy to build for applause, especially with social media.
- 33:16SPEAKER_01: You have to how many of us have checked our dashboards?
- 33:19SPEAKER_01: You have 35 posts to complete by Friday, blah, blah, blah.
- 33:22SPEAKER_01: And you're like, do I want to do that?
- 33:23SPEAKER_01: Do I not want to do that?
- 33:24SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I am not a parrot or a seal or or or or or and I see a lot.
- 33:29SPEAKER_00: I see a lot of people do that and they put a lot of effort into that.
- 33:34SPEAKER_00: And it's uh yeah, I we don't do that.
- 33:38SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 33:39SPEAKER_01: The pause says it all.
- 33:41SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 33:43SPEAKER_01: You don't want to disappear, you want to become deliberate and intentional.
- 33:48SPEAKER_01: So if you did one fantastic thing today, that's okay.
- 33:52SPEAKER_01: Even or some days you're gonna do 10 fantastic things.
- 33:56SPEAKER_01: As long as those things are intentional to get you to your goal.
- 34:00SPEAKER_01: We have a technology now that actually could line out the steps to get you to your goal.
- 34:05SPEAKER_01: There's no hard thinking required.
- 34:07SPEAKER_01: All you have to do is check the box.
- 34:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, say yay or nay, I don't like that one.
- 34:12SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, how about this one, right?
- 34:14SPEAKER_01: And phase five isn't about exit, it's about intention, as we discussed.
- 34:19SPEAKER_01: And what does this business stand without stand for without me?
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: If if Jamie were to go to the Bahamas and live with Bodhi and her husband on one of the islands there, what does this business stand for?
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: Does it, you know, is it about giving back to the community?
- 34:36SPEAKER_01: Is it about providing income for her cleaning tax?
- 34:39SPEAKER_01: There's a lot of things that you can do with your business that really can make an impact.
- 34:44SPEAKER_01: What does it produce beyond revenue?
- 34:46SPEAKER_01: Is it satisfying?
- 34:47SPEAKER_01: The company culture plays big into this.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: I say this a lot.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: Company culture and pay are big at keeping your cleaning tax happy.
- 34:54SPEAKER_01: Are they part of something larger?
- 34:56SPEAKER_01: I say it all the time.
- 34:57SPEAKER_01: What is that something larger?
- 34:58SPEAKER_01: Is it because you donate to animals?
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Is it because you donate to humans?
- 35:02SPEAKER_01: Is it because you like medical research?
- 35:04SPEAKER_01: What is it?
- 35:05SPEAKER_00: Yes, absolutely.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: That's what yeah, these are great questions to ask yourself.
- 35:10SPEAKER_01: And then what impact remains if I step away?
- 35:14SPEAKER_00: Like if Shannon stepped away from her business, does it just go up in smoke or does it will it live on forever?
- 35:23SPEAKER_00: But yeah, what happens?
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Is it still going it going if you were to step away?
- 35:29SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 35:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it doesn't mean scale or for scale's sake, right?
- 35:36SPEAKER_00: It means alignment between values, vision, and execution.
- 35:42SPEAKER_00: Definitely, there is no final phase.
- 35:46SPEAKER_00: Phase five isn't an ending, it's a new beginning, one where you build with foresight instead of urgency and intention instead of reaction.
- 35:57SPEAKER_00: And you're no longer proving anything, you're designing something that lasts.
- 36:02SPEAKER_00: Ooh.
- 36:03SPEAKER_01: That's impactful.
- 36:05SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it is.
- 36:06SPEAKER_01: And this concludes episode five.
- 36:08SPEAKER_01: If you are looking more in depth and you want to read up on what I have created on Amazon, just go to Amazon and search my name, Shannon Leanne Miller.
- 36:16SPEAKER_01: There, um, hopefully by the time this one launches, there'll be a fifth book and then maybe a sixth book, which just depends on how further along on those projects before.
- 36:24SPEAKER_01: And what is book called?
- 36:27SPEAKER_01: What is your I don't remember all of the titles.
- 36:30SPEAKER_01: I could probably pull up the four.
- 36:31SPEAKER_01: Hold on, we could do this really quick.
- 36:33SPEAKER_00: Yeah, because I really well, we'll also drop that in the into the show notes.
- 36:38SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 36:39SPEAKER_00: It's I'll I'll I got it right here.
- 36:41SPEAKER_00: Actually, it's on my phone.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 36:42SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: So the it's called the business of belief, conviction standards, and the decisions that shape everything.
- 36:49SPEAKER_01: Pricing is power, belief tested by money, entrepreneur identity series.
- 36:55SPEAKER_01: There's the five versions of you, entrepreneur, why growth feels personal before it becomes profitable.
- 37:00SPEAKER_01: These are kind of a little heavier of a topic.
- 37:03SPEAKER_01: Um, those are the four that I have.
- 37:06SPEAKER_01: Um, and then there's Savannah Miles.
- 37:08SPEAKER_01: So if you want to read a fictional book about the business of belief, book number two should be out in the second quarter.
- 37:13SPEAKER_01: So it and while I'm thinking of it, we are advocately, advocately, we are actively we are actively looking for sponsors for the show.
- 37:24SPEAKER_01: If that is something that you know of someone who is in direct correlation with our mission and our method, we would love to chat with you.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: We have tons of sponsorship packages.
- 37:34SPEAKER_01: It's gonna be 104 episodes this year, so we look forward to chatting.
- 37:38SPEAKER_01: If you are interested in that, please reach out to myself or Jamie.
- 37:42SPEAKER_00: Yeah, absolutely.
- 37:44SPEAKER_00: Um we will see you guys next.
- 37:48SPEAKER_01: It's contagious articulation.
- 37:52SPEAKER_01: Hi everyone, guys.
- 37:57SPEAKER_01: And that is episode five, the visionary CEO.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: This phase isn't about doing more or scaling for attention.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: It's about alignment, intention, and designing a business that can stand without you holding it up.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: If these topics resonate with you and you want to go deeper, you can find my books on Amazon that expand on identity, belief, pricing, leadership, and CEO thinking.
- 38:21SPEAKER_01: Just search my full name, Shannon Lee Ann Miller, on Amazon to explore the full series.
- 38:28SPEAKER_01: See you in the next episode.
