- 0:29Speaker 1: little bit of a departure from week one for me.
- 0:31Speaker 1: We'll get into that before we talk about our thoughts

- 1:21Speaker 2: We have a lot of stuff to talk about before
- 1:23Speaker 2: we even get into this movie. We do, I mean
- 1:28Speaker 2: the Hallmark twitterverse, Instagram, DMS. It's been a hotbed of
- 1:34Speaker 2: things going on the last couple of days. Yeah, let's
- 1:38Speaker 2: we've talked about GHAK several times on the podcast.
- 1:43Speaker 1: Did anybody say that out loud? Remember GHAK was like
- 1:46Speaker 1: slime back in the nineties. Oh now, yeah, I do
- 1:50Speaker 1: kind of remember that. I do. Yes, yes, yes, that
- 1:52Speaker 1: sounds very familiar. Okay, I just think sometimes you should.
- 1:55Speaker 1: You should say your brand name's out loud several times
- 1:58Speaker 1: before going public with them. That's all I'm saying.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Okay, it's great American what country, Great American.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Country, family, it's Ghak family.
- 2:08Speaker 2: We talked about GHAK and how the current president was
- 2:13Speaker 2: once the Hallmark president. Correct, and now he's over there
- 2:18Speaker 2: pushing quote unquote family.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Values, American values and family friendly content. There it is.
- 2:26Speaker 2: I couldn't remember. Thank you for clearing that up for me.
- 2:30Speaker 1: So kind of things are like bubbling. I would say, like,
- 2:37Speaker 1: there's going to be a moment where this thing totally explodes. Right, Well,
- 2:45Speaker 1: I am frustrated because I'm angry at their premise. Right,
- 2:51Speaker 1: I'm angry at them basically, And there has been in
- 2:56Speaker 1: response to channels like Hallmark and Lifetime attempting to be
- 3:00Speaker 1: slightly more progressive in their very already family friendly content.
- 3:06Speaker 1: There is pushback from brands like GHAK who think that
- 3:09Speaker 1: they're headed in the wrong direction. And I don't know
- 3:12Speaker 1: if you saw. I've been saving this for the podcast,
- 3:14Speaker 1: but there is a creation of a website where they're
- 3:19Speaker 1: listing the actually family friendly movies. I saw it. I
- 3:23Speaker 1: saw it, and to be very clear, family friendly in
- 3:28Speaker 1: their context means there's no LGBTQ content. There's not going
- 3:34Speaker 1: to be a same sex couple. And I have not
- 3:38Speaker 1: looked very deeply because I don't want to explode and rage.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Hallmark movies are deeply family friendly. There's no violence, there's
- 3:50Speaker 1: no swearing, there's no gratuitous sexual content. They don't even
- 3:54Speaker 1: hold hands half the time. The kisses last maybe a
- 3:58Speaker 1: second and a half. I would have no problem watching
- 4:01Speaker 1: these movies with any child of mine or child that
- 4:05Speaker 1: I know. They are family friendly. Right. I'm very angry
- 4:11Speaker 1: when people and brands posit same sex couples as non
- 4:17Speaker 1: family friendly, because you've now branded all of these humans
- 4:21Speaker 1: and individuals as unsafe, and you're telling all of these
- 4:26Speaker 1: people children adults, teenagers that something about you is unsafe
- 4:33Speaker 1: to me and my family, and I find it highly
- 4:36Speaker 1: dangerous and bigoted, and I'm angry about it.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Yeah, me too, And we see it in these reviews
- 4:46Speaker 2: right totally.
- 4:48Speaker 1: I mean.
- 4:51Speaker 2: This week in particular on IMDb, the number of terrible reviews,
- 4:56Speaker 2: not because of the movie, but because of the cast
- 5:00Speaker 2: and the story in particular a same sex couple. You know,
- 5:05Speaker 2: they're just like, this is terrible, this is trash. Hallmark's
- 5:09Speaker 2: trying to be too woke, which I can't stand when
- 5:14Speaker 2: people use woke like that, or use woke in general.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Uh.
- 5:20Speaker 2: It just it makes me so mad, and I want
- 5:23Speaker 2: to be like that responder on IMDb, like, stop watching it. Then,
- 5:28Speaker 2: you know, if it doesn't fit your box a family friendly,
- 5:32Speaker 2: stop watching it. There's other there's other content out there
- 5:36Speaker 2: that you can go to. Just stop it, Like it
- 5:39Speaker 2: makes me so angry.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So when you say, right, the gag situation is going
- 5:44Speaker 1: to explode, the thing that gives me pause is there's
- 5:46Speaker 1: an audience for them. They have an audience who's digging
- 5:49Speaker 1: in very deeply into what they're offering, and so I'm
- 5:54Speaker 1: very curious to see what direction that goes I'm curious
- 5:58Speaker 1: to see if they have enough of an eye needst
- 6:01Speaker 1: that is hateful to sustain them, or if there's enough
- 6:06Speaker 1: pushback it doesn't work out for them. I sadly have
- 6:12Speaker 1: a feeling that it will be sustainable for them. We've
- 6:15Speaker 1: seen some very big Hallmark names signed contracts. We discussed
- 6:20Speaker 1: on our Patron episode last week. Danica mckeller has signed
- 6:25Speaker 1: to create movies for GAK. Recently on Twitter. So far,
- 6:30Speaker 1: the only Hallmark actor I've said seen speak out, Paul Campbell,
- 6:35Speaker 1: has made a statement. His statement says, I, like everyone else,
- 6:38Speaker 1: will be keeping a close eye on the GAK content
- 6:41Speaker 1: roll out. If there's a noticeable lack of meaningful inclusion
- 6:45Speaker 1: the no, I will not be working for that company.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And he goes on to say that he'll make his
- 6:50Speaker 1: opinion loudly. So far, he's the only person to make
- 6:54Speaker 1: that statement, and several other actors are saying, well, we're
- 6:59Speaker 1: not working with an isn't that enough? And to that,
- 7:01Speaker 1: I say it's not enough. It's a brand new network.
- 7:03Speaker 1: How do we know if you're not working with them
- 7:06Speaker 1: because the opportunity hasn't presented itself, or because you firmly
- 7:11Speaker 1: stand against what they believe in. We don't know that,
- 7:13Speaker 1: and the only way for us to know that at
- 7:15Speaker 1: this point is for you to actually say something. Mm hmmm. Yeah.
- 7:21Speaker 2: I mean they're in a really tough position, right, but
- 7:25Speaker 2: take a stand.
- 7:27Speaker 1: I understand not wanting to bite the hand that feeds you, right,
- 7:30Speaker 1: but do you want to be fed by a bigot
- 7:32Speaker 1: a hand? Yeah? Yeah.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I want to shout out a fellow podcaster, Hallmark podcaster.
- 7:40Speaker 2: Her name is Camille. She is Hallmark Heartbeats podcast. She
- 7:44Speaker 2: is always talking about this is like a constant conversation
- 7:47Speaker 2: on her Instagram and on Twitter, like she is calling
- 7:52Speaker 2: out like actors and asking like, hey, what are you
- 7:57Speaker 2: doing here? What's your decision? And I'm just glad that
- 8:01Speaker 2: somebody is like talking about it like regularly. I just
- 8:07Speaker 2: I like that she is asking the hard questions.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I agree, this is just something I think we're going
- 8:14Speaker 1: to have to continue to keep an eye on, and
- 8:16Speaker 1: I hope people will continue talking about it. But I
- 8:19Speaker 1: do think this is a big turning point in the
- 8:22Speaker 1: holiday movie world. And I have seen a lot of
- 8:24Speaker 1: people who are unhappy with the direction of Ghak family,
- 8:29Speaker 1: and unfortunately there will always be that audience for them.
- 8:37Speaker 1: So I don't think they care so much about the
- 8:42Speaker 1: naysayers as long as there's people that are willing to
- 8:45Speaker 1: buy what they're selling.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Right exactly, sharp left turn. I have a question for you. Okay,
- 8:50Speaker 2: did you notice anything different about this weekend's movies?
- 8:54Speaker 1: Oh, I know what you're talking about. We neglected to
- 8:59Speaker 1: mention this last week, even though I had it in
- 9:00Speaker 1: my notes. The ding is gone. Yes, it is gone
- 9:05Speaker 1: this weekend. Anybody who doesn't know what we're talking about.
- 9:10Speaker 1: On Hallmark's New Movies, they had this obnoxious ding sound
- 9:15Speaker 1: that accompanied an image that said all new, and it
- 9:19Speaker 1: was highly annoying. It was I swear I.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Thought it was my phone going off every single time,
- 9:24Speaker 2: like dinging out.
- 9:25Speaker 1: It was the same sound, and it happened several times
- 9:29Speaker 1: in each movie, and Twitter was a buzz. Yeah.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Yeah, Well I noticed right off the bat that they
- 9:36Speaker 2: had replaced a cute little candy cane in the shape
- 9:40Speaker 2: of a heart image with just the regular countdown the
- 9:43Speaker 2: Christmas image and the whole little thing alert was gone.
- 9:49Speaker 1: And I said, I was Mandy, Yes, I don't mind
- 9:52Speaker 1: the image, keep the image, I just get rid of
- 9:55Speaker 1: the noise. Yeah, I don't need another distraction, like I'm
- 9:59Speaker 1: trying to watch the movie. Don't make a sound that
- 10:03Speaker 1: sounds like my phone that I'm gonna stop watching your
- 10:06Speaker 1: movie and look at my phone. You know exactly exactly
- 10:10Speaker 1: Dupid whose idea was that? Dummies? Well, it did not
- 10:13Speaker 1: work out for them. People were very annoyed, although it
- 10:15Speaker 1: did get people talking. I will say people were talking
- 10:17Speaker 1: about it all weekend, so I'm glad to see it
- 10:19Speaker 1: gone me too.
- 10:20Speaker 2: All right, are you ready to talk about Coyote Creek Christmas?
- 10:26Speaker 1: I am. Do you have a synopsis? I do?
- 10:29Speaker 2: While throwing a Christmas around the World party at her
- 10:33Speaker 2: family's inn, an event planner discovers Christmas magic with a
- 10:36Speaker 2: charming father son Dubo, whose presence brings about tension and joy,
- 10:43Speaker 2: starring Janelle Parish and Ryan Pavey.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Let's hop into news and notes. Okay, you pointed out
- 10:50Speaker 1: something to me, Yes, I did.
- 10:53Speaker 2: I swear the interior of the inn is the same
- 10:56Speaker 2: interior used in the last Janelle Parish movie called right
- 11:00Speaker 2: in front of Me. I can't find anything to confirm it,
- 11:04Speaker 2: but I swear it's the same. Like it's not a
- 11:06Speaker 2: set I remember, it's like actual, like an actual location.
- 11:10Speaker 1: I've mentioned before that I'm highly unobservant, so I'm not
- 11:13Speaker 1: sure that I would have noticed that. But you mentioned
- 11:15Speaker 1: it prior to me watching this movie, and when I
- 11:18Speaker 1: started watching, I would agree, especially that open kitchen area. Yes,
- 11:23Speaker 1: thank you. That much really felt familiar to me, So
- 11:28Speaker 1: I am dying to know if that's the case. Also,
- 11:32Speaker 1: I had this later on, But since we're discussing it,
- 11:35Speaker 1: did you think that when in the very beginning of
- 11:38Speaker 1: the movie, when the brothers are discussing the inn and
- 11:40Speaker 1: they show the image of the front, did it not
- 11:43Speaker 1: look like the image that they used in the Santa steakout. Yes,
- 11:47Speaker 1: if it's a mysterious chalet that they're next door neighbor owned.
- 11:51Speaker 2: I didn't realize it now, but now that you pointed out, yes,
- 11:53Speaker 2: I did think it would look like exactly the same picture.
- 11:56Speaker 2: If you recall when we reviewed right in front of me,
- 12:00Speaker 2: we had talked on the podcast about how they shot
- 12:03Speaker 2: almost every scene within the interior of that location, and
- 12:07Speaker 2: it was either like the director I think it was
- 12:09Speaker 2: the director who had messaged us and said, yes, they
- 12:12Speaker 2: had like a major snowstorm or something like that, so
- 12:15Speaker 2: they couldn't shoot any outside scenes. Right, the directors are
- 12:19Speaker 2: different on these movies, but I just wish somewhere, somewhere
- 12:23Speaker 2: could confirm someone could confirm from with me that this
- 12:27Speaker 2: is the same location.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Well, and they did talk about they had a fire
- 12:32Speaker 1: pit scene in that last movie that didn't make it
- 12:35Speaker 1: because of the weather, and we saw fire pits in
- 12:37Speaker 1: this movie. I believe it. I believe it. We do
- 12:41Speaker 1: not have confirmation, but I believe it. Speaking of filming, sorry,
- 12:46Speaker 1: this movie took fifteen days to film, which I think
- 12:48Speaker 1: is pretty standard. But it always blows my mind that
- 12:51Speaker 1: they can do that in two weeks. Yeah, in August
- 12:54Speaker 1: and September, so it was probably warm right in Vancouver.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I'm guessing I'm going to add into news and notes here.
- 13:02Speaker 1: We need to talk about Cameron Bancroft again. Cameron Bancroft
- 13:07Speaker 1: played Rick Parker Page's dad in this movie, and for
- 13:10Speaker 1: a hot minute I was like, how is this guy
- 13:13Speaker 1: old enough to play Page's dad? Well, I did some looking.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Cameron Bancroft, who played Joe Bradley on Beverly Hills nine
- 13:23Speaker 1: O two one zero, is fifty four years old in
- 13:26Speaker 1: real life and totally believable as her dad.
- 13:30Speaker 2: Yes, she's thirty three, so yeah, age wise, he could
- 13:34Speaker 2: have had a child at twenty one. Sure, okay, fine,
- 13:37Speaker 2: but this dude's character was acting like he was ready
- 13:41Speaker 2: for a spot at an assisted living facility. He was
- 13:44Speaker 2: acting like he was eighty five years old ready to retire.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I mean, what's retirement age in California?
- 13:51Speaker 1: Fifty five? Oh? I don't know. Is there a retirement age?
- 13:54Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 13:55Speaker 2: I thought there was. He was ready to retire from
- 13:57Speaker 2: a coyote creek, in which fine, but like he's like,
- 14:01Speaker 2: we're gonna sail off into the sunset or whatever.
- 14:04Speaker 1: I was like, what the fuck? Like he was Joe.
- 14:08Speaker 2: Bradley on Beverly Hills nine of Too and oh, and
- 14:10Speaker 2: my husband and I had this full conversation about Okay, fine,
- 14:16Speaker 2: Beverly Hills was out thirty years ago, say ish right,
- 14:20Speaker 2: He at the time was playing a college student. He
- 14:23Speaker 2: could have been in his mid twenties. Fine, but he's
- 14:26Speaker 2: just got this full head of gray hair that makes
- 14:28Speaker 2: him look so much older because his face does not
- 14:32Speaker 2: look old. I personally feel that he should be playing
- 14:35Speaker 2: younger roles.
- 14:36Speaker 1: I think his hair, his hair ages him one hundred percent,
- 14:42Speaker 1: and I think he doesn't color it because then he
- 14:46Speaker 1: gets these older roles and he slides right in because
- 14:48Speaker 1: he's the younger, old dude.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I'm just having a crisis of conflict, hair like.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I can't. I don't want to believe that I am
- 14:57Speaker 1: getting that old. I don't want to watch people who
- 15:03Speaker 1: you know, was a college student on my TV, which
- 15:06Speaker 1: feels like five years ago, playing an old man. I can't.
- 15:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm struggling. Well, speaking of associating people
- 15:16Speaker 1: with other roles they've been in. Janelle Parrish, who as
- 15:19Speaker 1: we mentioned, was in Right in front of Me, a
- 15:21Speaker 1: Hallmark movie, also played Margot in all three of the
- 15:25Speaker 1: To All the Boys I've Loved before. College student right,
- 15:28Speaker 1: a college student, Yes, And I very much did not
- 15:33Speaker 1: like her character in those movies. Loved the books. Margo's
- 15:37Speaker 1: not as of the most likable person in the books either,
- 15:39Speaker 1: but I didn't enjoy her in the movies. So well,
- 15:44Speaker 1: we'll get to first impressions, but that I find that
- 15:47Speaker 1: distracting watching her.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Well, she played a high school student on Pretty Little Liars,
- 15:53Speaker 2: which was not that long ago either. I can't remember
- 15:56Speaker 2: her character name, but she was creepy af She was
- 15:59Speaker 2: really good in that show. Oh well, let's talk about actors.
- 16:02Speaker 1: We did like Okay, you're not going to agree with me,
- 16:07Speaker 1: but the little boy who plays Noah, his name is
- 16:11Speaker 1: Aswel Dolman, and this was his first Hallmark movie and
- 16:16Speaker 1: since this movie, he's filmed three Hallmark movies. Ah god,
- 16:22Speaker 1: uh huh. Wendy's not a big fan of the children
- 16:24Speaker 1: in these movies typically. Yeah, I'll get to that. Okay, Well,
- 16:28Speaker 1: I found him charming and I'm glad that he's had
- 16:31Speaker 1: some success. Sweet little Asriel. What else did you like
- 16:35Speaker 1: about this movie? We're not there yet. We're in news
- 16:37Speaker 1: and notes friends. Oh so sorry, do you have any
- 16:40Speaker 1: other news and notes before we move on to our
- 16:42Speaker 1: first impressions? No, I don't, so tell me your first
- 16:47Speaker 1: impression of this movie? H super disappointed? I was too.
- 16:55Speaker 1: I agree.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I will say remember when we did the first part
- 17:00Speaker 2: of our Countdown to Christmas preview episode, we talked about
- 17:04Speaker 2: this movie and You're like, this is a mite watch
- 17:07Speaker 2: for me, and I.
- 17:07Speaker 1: Was like, are you kidding me? Has Ryan Pavee, It's
- 17:11Speaker 1: on Saturday night? How is this a maybe watch? I
- 17:16Speaker 1: think your instincts are good, Megan, Well, and my instinct
- 17:20Speaker 1: was how did they make a whole movie around and
- 17:23Speaker 1: around the world Christmas Party? And we're going to talk
- 17:25Speaker 1: about all the reasons how they didn't do that. Ryan
- 17:29Speaker 1: Pavey just as pretty as ever, but not enough to
- 17:35Speaker 1: carry this movie across the finish line for me. Now,
- 17:40Speaker 1: before I dog on this movie anymore, let's talk about
- 17:43Speaker 1: what we did like about this movie. I have two
- 17:46Speaker 1: things exactly laym on me.
- 17:49Speaker 2: I really like Janelle Parrish. I like her as an actress.
- 17:53Speaker 2: I'm excited to see her in more Hallmark movies. I
- 17:57Speaker 2: think she's natural and nothing feels too for with her.
- 18:00Speaker 2: I just enjoy to watch her. Okay, I like her too.
- 18:06Speaker 2: I liked George, who is the chef.
- 18:08Speaker 1: He was played by an actor named Mark Anthony Messaiah
- 18:12Speaker 1: and I found him charming. And there's a scene when
- 18:15Speaker 1: Janelle Parrish as Paige walks into the kitchen after having
- 18:18Speaker 1: just been to the bakery and he has this whole
- 18:20Speaker 1: year cheating on me moment, and I found it charming
- 18:23Speaker 1: and fun. And I enjoyed George quite a bit. I
- 18:26Speaker 1: liked him too.
- 18:26Speaker 2: He had like ten lines maybe in the whole thing,
- 18:29Speaker 2: but I thought he was he sold me on those
- 18:31Speaker 2: ten lines.
- 18:32Speaker 1: Good job, yep, good job.
- 18:34Speaker 2: I like the one scene when she's interviewing the guest
- 18:39Speaker 2: for ideas on the Christmas party. I thought that was
- 18:41Speaker 2: really fun. I really like the idea of a Christmas
- 18:45Speaker 2: around the world party where you get to see other traditions.
- 18:49Speaker 2: But I did not think this was necessary to the story.
- 18:53Speaker 1: I thought that the filming location was beautiful, the inn
- 18:58Speaker 1: itself and no, oh no, okay, well we're gonna talk
- 19:02Speaker 1: about that in a little bit. But I enjoyed that.
- 19:06Speaker 1: I liked the interiors. I liked the lighting. They have
- 19:09Speaker 1: this big, beautiful chandelier by the stairs that I enjoyed.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I would stay there. I have stayed in cheesy, cheesily
- 19:17Speaker 1: decorated Christmas hotels that are decorated year round, not nice.
- 19:22Speaker 1: I have also stayed in hotels that were decorated beautifully
- 19:25Speaker 1: for the holidays, and I thought they did a nice
- 19:28Speaker 1: job with the holiday de corps. But apparently I'm wrong.
- 19:31Speaker 2: There was just one that stood out to me, and
- 19:34Speaker 2: it's when they would go outside, and it was this
- 19:37Speaker 2: huge star like hanging like almost like as low as
- 19:43Speaker 2: the top of these people's heads. So it's like, watch
- 19:45Speaker 2: out for that big hanging star it was just too much,
- 19:49Speaker 2: too much.
- 19:52Speaker 1: I liked Noah's in Stax camera, I mean, nice product placement,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and I thought it was kind of a cool retro
- 19:57Speaker 1: looking polaroid camera. We have kind of the big giant
- 20:03Speaker 1: plastic key in Stax cameras in our house, and so
- 20:05Speaker 1: I liked. I liked to see in the redesign there.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And my last thing is I thought the Charlotte the
- 20:13Speaker 1: Marmot bit was well executed and brought to completion. Well,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you did not enjoy Charlotte. It's so funny because we
- 20:22Speaker 1: both disliked this movie, but like, it's just funny that
- 20:27Speaker 1: the things that you kind of thought were cute and
- 20:29Speaker 1: charming I absolutely hated. Well. I think one of the
- 20:34Speaker 1: reasons I liked it is because much of this movie
- 20:36Speaker 1: felt unfinished for me, and I thought that they did
- 20:40Speaker 1: a good job of following that through. It had a
- 20:43Speaker 1: full storyline from beginning to end, and the callbacks were
- 20:51Speaker 1: done well, That's part of why I liked it. All Right,
- 20:54Speaker 1: can we please talk about what we wished for? Oh
- 20:56Speaker 1: my gosh, yes, go ahead.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Okay, I'm gonna first start with Ryan Pavie. Okay, I
- 21:03Speaker 2: really like Ryan Pavee He's come a long way for me.
- 21:07Speaker 2: The first movie I've ever seen Ryan Pavie in was
- 21:09Speaker 2: Last Christmas. It's called A Timeless Christmas.
- 21:11Speaker 1: I thought he was.
- 21:12Speaker 2: A big, stiff, awful actor. But then he's been in
- 21:18Speaker 2: a couple movies this year. One was Don't Go Breaking
- 21:21Speaker 2: My Heart, and I thought he was funny in that
- 21:23Speaker 2: he could handle the comedy. I found him charming, easy
- 21:26Speaker 2: to look at. I didn't like him as much in
- 21:30Speaker 2: that little little daytime drama, but still very pleasant to
- 21:34Speaker 2: look at.
- 21:36Speaker 1: In this movie, I thought he was kind of a dud. Yeah.
- 21:42Speaker 2: He did not stir up any sort of wowie zowie
- 21:45Speaker 2: for me zero in this movie. Yeah, like even like
- 21:52Speaker 2: sometimes his eyes blue and mesmerizing. In this one, he
- 21:56Speaker 2: just was like any other actor. I was disappointed.
- 22:02Speaker 1: So my biggest disappointment in this movie is we talked
- 22:07Speaker 1: about a movie last year, and that movie was called
- 22:10Speaker 1: Never Kiss a Man in a Christmas Weater, And I
- 22:13Speaker 1: remember very little about that movie except that I remember
- 22:16Speaker 1: feeling like there was no clear direction and that movie
- 22:20Speaker 1: script could have benefited very much from an editor to
- 22:23Speaker 1: title together. And I felt very much the same about
- 22:26Speaker 1: this movie. There are so many things that I thought, what,
- 22:29Speaker 1: I don't understand why this is happening. For example, I
- 22:36Speaker 1: don't understand why Page and Dylan ever spent any time together.
- 22:41Speaker 1: It never made sense to me that Page is home
- 22:46Speaker 1: visiting her family and she's planning this party, and Dylan's
- 22:51Speaker 1: this investor who's there with his son. But then all
- 22:54Speaker 1: of a sudden, they're doing all of these activities together.
- 22:57Speaker 1: It didn't work for me. Why why were they together
- 23:01Speaker 1: other than oh, we're in the same room, come decorate
- 23:04Speaker 1: cookies with me, come to this event. I didn't buy it.
- 23:09Speaker 1: There was no reason for them to be sending time
- 23:11Speaker 1: together other than oh, we're two pretty people. But it
- 23:14Speaker 1: didn't make sense normally, there's a reason these people who
- 23:18Speaker 1: have no reason to be together, these two strangers are
- 23:22Speaker 1: spending time together, and there was no believable reason for me.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I agree, absolutely agree. The biggest thing that I wished
- 23:32Speaker 2: for was less kid Sorry, Noah. I can't stand kids
- 23:39Speaker 2: who are like, no, it all's you precocious?
- 23:42Speaker 1: Yes uh, I.
- 23:43Speaker 2: Was like, get out of my TV screen. I cannot
- 23:46Speaker 2: stand no. I like that they showed like a single dad,
- 23:50Speaker 2: like that's cool.
- 23:50Speaker 1: Whatever. Well, he was actually the only thing that made
- 23:53Speaker 1: their relationship believable because they kind of were spending time
- 23:59Speaker 1: together in as a way to entertain Noah, did I
- 24:03Speaker 1: stroke out? Or there's a scene that doesn't make any
- 24:09Speaker 1: sense to me. A page comes home. The lobby is
- 24:14Speaker 1: full of people and they're all here for this around
- 24:19Speaker 1: the World Christmas party and they have nowhere to put them.
- 24:22Speaker 1: And this is a big emergency. If people just randomly
- 24:27Speaker 1: show up at your inn for some party that you're
- 24:30Speaker 1: throwing and you don't have rooms, don't you just say
- 24:36Speaker 1: I'm sorry? Was there a reason they didn't have rooms
- 24:40Speaker 1: for them? Like? Did they just show up for the party?
- 24:43Speaker 1: Was there some glitch in their reservation system that made
- 24:46Speaker 1: this their emergency? Because it seems to me that if
- 24:49Speaker 1: I'm a holiday in not a holiday in in during
- 24:53Speaker 1: the holidays that is full and people show up the
- 24:58Speaker 1: day before our big party and we don't have space
- 25:01Speaker 1: for them, that doesn't sound like my problem.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Okay, two things. One I feel and maybe I stroked
- 25:07Speaker 2: out during this. I thought that word got out that
- 25:11Speaker 2: they were going to sell the in and that's why
- 25:13Speaker 2: all these people showed up for the very last like
- 25:17Speaker 2: Coyote Christmas.
- 25:19Speaker 1: Yes, I think correct?
- 25:21Speaker 2: Okay, Which is like, so stupid. You're not gonna just whatever.
- 25:25Speaker 2: You're not going to just show up for like try
- 25:27Speaker 2: to stay the night, and there's no other thing. But
- 25:29Speaker 2: here's the other thing. There's no room at the inn.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Inn.
- 25:35Speaker 2: Do you think they were trying to slide this like
- 25:40Speaker 2: Christmas story in there of Mary and Joseph.
- 25:45Speaker 1: Maybe, but it still doesn't make sense to me. This
- 25:48Speaker 1: is not your problem to solve. Why would you Because
- 25:52Speaker 1: they make the comment, oh, we've got this angry mob.
- 25:55Speaker 1: Why are they mad they're showing up at a hotel
- 25:57Speaker 1: two days before a holiday reservation space? I don't und right,
- 26:03Speaker 1: you don't get to be mad at me. You don't
- 26:05Speaker 1: have a reservation. I'm so sorry. We're full because we're
- 26:09Speaker 1: so popular. That's why you're here. Yeah.
- 26:11Speaker 2: And the other thing is is like the dad and
- 26:14Speaker 2: mom were like all stoked about like the big influx
- 26:17Speaker 2: of people.
- 26:18Speaker 1: Right, But.
- 26:20Speaker 2: The problem wasn't that the inn wasn't popular, Like that
- 26:23Speaker 2: wasn't the reason why they were selling.
- 26:25Speaker 1: They make that point to death right.
- 26:28Speaker 2: The second thing is, are you gonna spend the night
- 26:33Speaker 2: in a tent in the snow?
- 26:36Speaker 1: I'm not I know they were fancy tents, but did
- 26:39Speaker 1: they ever point out like, oh, and here's how we're
- 26:41Speaker 1: heating them. They did not, did they? No? No, because
- 26:44Speaker 1: I was waiting for that. Although I don't know if
- 26:47Speaker 1: you saw, but when the truck pulls in, it does
- 26:50Speaker 1: say something like all Weather Glamping Solutions. Uh huh, So
- 26:57Speaker 1: I did notice that, but I was waiting for the
- 26:59Speaker 1: And how are they heating these snow tents?
- 27:02Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean it must be a thing, but no,
- 27:06Speaker 2: there's no restroom, Like how does that work? You gotta
- 27:09Speaker 2: traps into the inn at night, in the middle of
- 27:12Speaker 2: the night, in the spittal body.
- 27:13Speaker 1: But it's not like they have a public shower in
- 27:16Speaker 1: the inn. That too, so stupid. Why why did they
- 27:22Speaker 1: have to have this storyline? They didn't. They didn't need
- 27:26Speaker 1: this huge influx of people, particularly because they tell us
- 27:30Speaker 1: probably twenty three times in the course of this movie
- 27:33Speaker 1: that the inn is making money. It makes more money
- 27:35Speaker 1: every single year, so that's not their problem. Oh oh,
- 27:42Speaker 1: did not understand the assignment?
- 27:44Speaker 2: Okay, okay, Well just a little side note here. I
- 27:48Speaker 2: looked up the writer of this movie, and this writer's
- 27:51Speaker 2: IMDb was a ton of like production assistant jobs, like
- 27:57Speaker 2: for American Idol, and like all kinds of things, And
- 28:00Speaker 2: I was like, how does this person write? Like, I
- 28:02Speaker 2: don't know what a production assistant does, Like, I have
- 28:05Speaker 2: no idea. Do they write stuff? How do they get
- 28:08Speaker 2: a Hallmark movie?
- 28:09Speaker 1: Perhaps you just submitted it. I don't know. That's a
- 28:11Speaker 1: great question, because a production is assistant, in my mind,
- 28:14Speaker 1: is like helping on set. Yes, you're kind of everyone's bitch.
- 28:19Speaker 2: So this also makes me think, like, we need to
- 28:22Speaker 2: write a Hallmark movie. We can one hundred percent write
- 28:25Speaker 2: a better movie than what we just watched.
- 28:29Speaker 1: Right. The writer has ten Script Department credits first as
- 28:34Speaker 1: script supervisor. I don't know what a script supervisor does.
- 28:39Speaker 1: I'm looking it up. I'd like to know what. A
- 28:40Speaker 1: script supervisor is a member of a film crew who
- 28:43Speaker 1: oversees the continuity of the motion picture, including wardrobe, prop, set, dressing,
- 28:47Speaker 1: hair makeup. So like, if your hair is over your
- 28:49Speaker 1: right shoulder in this scene and they're reshooting it, they
- 28:51Speaker 1: want to make sure that it's right, all in the
- 28:53Speaker 1: same place. I'd be so good at that job. Yeah,
- 28:57Speaker 1: be terrible at that job. I complain about it a lot,
- 29:02Speaker 1: but that's also why nobody hired me to do this job.
- 29:06Speaker 2: I just need to know how we can submit a
- 29:08Speaker 2: story to Hallmark.
- 29:09Speaker 1: Because I usually have information. Oh you do, let's do it.
- 29:13Speaker 1: An idea, Yeah, I have an idea. I think it
- 29:15Speaker 1: would work.
- 29:16Speaker 2: My last thing, what I wish for a better storyline?
- 29:21Speaker 2: I don't know if I'm concerned about Dylan and his son,
- 29:25Speaker 2: Dylan and Paige Page in her family, the future of
- 29:28Speaker 2: Coyote Creek inn Pages want for more creating the best
- 29:34Speaker 2: Christmas Party. Charlotte the squirrel.
- 29:37Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know who it is. I know,
- 29:40Speaker 1: but I had to look that up. I actually look
- 29:42Speaker 1: that up because I've never heard of a more mutt
- 29:44Speaker 1: before or whatever it's called. Huh. It just says it's
- 29:46Speaker 1: a lot like.
- 29:47Speaker 2: A large ground squirrel, So it's a squirrel.
- 29:51Speaker 1: Mm hmmmmm. No, I did one of those before. Uh No,
- 29:56Speaker 1: I didn't know who to care about either. I didn't
- 29:57Speaker 1: know who what what was that was the result? I
- 30:00Speaker 1: don't know what was the problem. Yeah, I don't know.
- 30:03Speaker 2: And then here's my final last thing. Why was Paige
- 30:07Speaker 2: pissed off at Dylan and not her parents? No, girl,
- 30:10Speaker 2: you got it all wrong?
- 30:12Speaker 1: Yes? And why didn't he say to her? Maybe he did?
- 30:16Speaker 1: I told them to tell you. I went to them
- 30:18Speaker 1: and told them I couldn't do this anymore. This wasn't fair.
- 30:22Speaker 1: He didn't tell her the big family secret when it
- 30:25Speaker 1: wasn't his job. Play.
- 30:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 30:28Speaker 1: Hate When they say we tried to tell you, you, guys,
- 30:33Speaker 1: just say, actually, no, we need to talk about this.
- 30:36Speaker 1: This is how you tell somebody something. You don't let
- 30:39Speaker 1: them get distracted by the cute boy and leave in
- 30:41Speaker 1: the middle of the conversation. Because it was very clear
- 30:45Speaker 1: that they say, well, actually, that's not what we were
- 30:47Speaker 1: going to say, and then she runs away. Wouldn't you
- 30:49Speaker 1: be curious what their thing, that, their big discussion they
- 30:52Speaker 1: wanted to have with you was. I'd be like, tell
- 30:55Speaker 1: me now, Ryan Bavies here gotta go. Ho guys, so dumb? Oh?
- 31:02Speaker 1: Two more things I wished for? No more fireworks, thank you.
- 31:05Speaker 1: I don't need fireworks on Christmas Eve? Why.
- 31:10Speaker 2: I think it's kind of magical, Okay, I just think
- 31:15Speaker 2: it's neat because it's not expected. You expect fireworks in
- 31:19Speaker 2: the summertime.
- 31:21Speaker 1: We watched so many Christmas movies last year with fireworks,
- 31:26Speaker 1: and you dogged on all of them. I did. I
- 31:28Speaker 1: don't even remember you guys, Do I need fireworks here.
- 31:32Speaker 1: The last thing that I wished for. Why are we
- 31:37Speaker 1: redesigning the hotel? It is very clearly not run down.
- 31:41Speaker 1: Do you want to expand it? Sure, take the current
- 31:46Speaker 1: style and make it bigger, build out the spa, whatever
- 31:50Speaker 1: you're going to do, But it doesn't need this complete redesign,
- 31:54Speaker 1: right for did you see that, folks? Yeah? I have
- 31:57Speaker 1: a few, two of mine we've already discussed. But like
- 32:01Speaker 1: the Gilmore girls, Page and Quinn are terrible fake coffee drinkers. Oh,
- 32:07Speaker 1: I didn't notice. In the early scene they're walking through
- 32:11Speaker 1: towns the first time the two of them are together,
- 32:14Speaker 1: and they're both drinking coffee and their cups are very
- 32:17Speaker 1: obviously empty. Janelle Paris drinks several times from her empty cup,
- 32:22Speaker 1: and why can't they have water in their cups? Right?
- 32:26Speaker 1: Why not? For my did you see that?
- 32:29Speaker 2: There was a couple of them I have. There's one
- 32:31Speaker 2: scene when Page and Dylan are walking down the city
- 32:34Speaker 2: street and they're like in their winter coats and in
- 32:36Speaker 2: the background, very small you can see someone crossing the
- 32:40Speaker 2: street and they're wearing shorts and flip flops.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Nah, there were some background actors like in coats, but
- 32:48Speaker 3: like in the you can they weren't super tiny, and
- 32:51Speaker 3: I was like, that guy's wearing shorts.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it was pretty funny. They didn't shut down the
- 32:55Speaker 1: entire street for filming, No they didn't. They didn't. And
- 33:00Speaker 1: they are decorating cookies. They're helping out the baker. Yes, yes,
- 33:04Speaker 1: and I wrote, wait, she was decorating those ugly ass
- 33:08Speaker 1: cookies for a guest order. I know, I know. I
- 33:11Speaker 1: was like, if I was the baker, I'd be like, no,
- 33:13Speaker 1: I'm not letting you and a child decorate cookies because
- 33:17Speaker 1: it's gonna get messy and they're gonna look terrible. And
- 33:21Speaker 1: he's like, go nuts, and then she squeezes all that
- 33:23Speaker 1: frashing all over. No, this woman's gonna get fired. Yeah,
- 33:28Speaker 1: don't go nuts.
- 33:29Speaker 2: You don't want to go to a party and have
- 33:31Speaker 2: like you're expecting a Martha Stewart type frosted cookie. Not
- 33:36Speaker 2: eat something my child made at home.
- 33:40Speaker 1: No, indeed, indeed, yeah, go nuts. She's squeezing.
- 33:45Speaker 2: They had a moment too where they both like grat
- 33:47Speaker 2: went to go grab the like icing and I was like,
- 33:50Speaker 2: are we getting somewhere? But no, nope, nope, big old
- 33:54Speaker 2: dead between these two. No chemistry hmmm, did you notice
- 33:58Speaker 2: the awful signage at the Christmas Around the World party?
- 34:02Speaker 1: Did not?
- 34:03Speaker 2: It looks straight out of like maybe like a Girl
- 34:08Speaker 2: Scout International Festival. The tables are set up and that
- 34:12Speaker 2: somebody made like a homemade sign that says like Perogi's
- 34:16Speaker 2: or it was terrible, terrible.
- 34:20Speaker 1: I was like, if this chick is like so into
- 34:23Speaker 1: detail and like making it beautiful, it was not.
- 34:27Speaker 2: It was so cheese. I got two more. Okay, no
- 34:30Speaker 2: digital snow in this movie. Where was this supposed to
- 34:33Speaker 2: take place?
- 34:35Speaker 1: I hadn't, uh, Colorado because she's from Denver, so I
- 34:40Speaker 1: think they were in Colorado.
- 34:42Speaker 2: Wouldn't there be snow in Colorado?
- 34:44Speaker 1: There's snow on the ground, yeah, but not like a lot.
- 34:48Speaker 1: There was no like snow angels or anything like that.
- 34:51Speaker 1: It snow did not play a big role in this movie. No.
- 34:54Speaker 2: And finally in the end scene, the fireworks scene, post kiss,
- 35:00Speaker 2: he's like holding on to Noah and she like snuggles
- 35:04Speaker 2: up to Noah the kid, and I was like, that's weird, Like.
- 35:08Speaker 1: They just had like a kiss.
- 35:09Speaker 2: They're not like an instant family of three now like
- 35:12Speaker 2: cozy up to Dylan, not to the kid.
- 35:15Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 35:15Speaker 2: I just thought it was weird and that kid, oh
- 35:17Speaker 2: my god. Every time like he would come into this scene.
- 35:19Speaker 1: High page, I was like, I can't it's not the kid.
- 35:23Speaker 1: I just hate kids in a movie. Don't don't go outside,
- 35:26Speaker 1: You're gonna be stuck by lighting today. Why? I love children?
- 35:32Speaker 1: But sorry, why do you rate this movie two stars?
- 35:36Speaker 1: Me too, exactly? I'm so sorry. It had the pieces
- 35:42Speaker 1: to be a good movie, but it was not well assembled.
- 35:46Speaker 2: I would like to also note that on We have
- 35:50Speaker 2: a Girl's Gone hallwork Instagram, and I wanted to ask,
- 35:55Speaker 2: like people like what how they rated this movie?
- 35:58Speaker 1: And it was not great? It was low ratings. Oh interesting? Yeah,
- 36:04Speaker 1: So I think like a lot of people didn't really
- 36:06Speaker 1: like this movie, which is kind of a bummer. I
- 36:09Speaker 1: think you have two really good actors and like not
- 36:13Speaker 1: the material to support what they can give. So I
- 36:17Speaker 1: think they set the bar really high with their opening weekend,
- 36:20Speaker 1: and now it's gonna be hard to live up to
- 36:23Speaker 1: that because I don't know that you can have forty
- 36:26Speaker 1: one hits that. Yeah, I don't think you can. So
- 36:33Speaker 1: what's coming up from us? As we mentioned, you can
