Transcript
- 0:09Hello and welcome back. You're listening to Galaxy
- 0:12Crashers, The Busted, and McFly podcast.
- 0:15The only podcast where Busted and McFly come together.
- 0:18Brought to you by two mums who still think the year 2005 was
- 0:22about 3 years ago. I'm Shan.
- 0:25And I'm Tay, and coming up this week, we've got McFly in the
- 0:28Wild, where we're discussing the possibility of new music.
- 0:32Huh. Oh my God, I'm so ready for
- 0:35that. Yes.
- 0:37We are also talking Loser Kid by Busted, which is the final song
- 0:41on their debut album and genuinely one of their most
- 0:44underrated chaotic little anthems which I'm very excited.
- 0:46For Oh my God Absolutely Lovely as a Kid spoiler and for the
- 0:50naughty slow songs, we're heading straight back to the
- 0:53year 3 thousands emo cousin Teenagers by My Chemical
- 0:57Romance. A song that made every single
- 0:59one of us feel dangerous despite the fact we were literally
- 1:01revising for GCSE science. Nothing else better.
- 1:04Did you? Oh dear.
- 1:07OK, so before we get started today, we should probably talk a
- 1:10little bit about our little hiatus.
- 1:12We've probably most of you have realised already that we weren't
- 1:15here last week and this episode is coming out a little bit later
- 1:20than usual. Yeah, you may also have noticed
- 1:23that our lack of social media posts the last couple of weeks
- 1:26as well as we've been dire on the social.
- 1:28Media we really have, but I think we've both had a lot going
- 1:31on. I think as most, most of our
- 1:34listeners know, I think I mentioned a few weeks ago on the
- 1:38podcast that my, my nan was really poorly.
- 1:41So unfortunately we had suffered a very, very sad loss 2 weeks
- 1:45ago. We had to say goodbye to my
- 1:46wonderful Nan and I just need a little bit of time to be able to
- 1:50grieve without having to think about all the podcast stuff, so
- 1:52hopefully all of you understand why we have not been so present.
- 1:56But we are back now, and we have a wonderful episode lined up for
- 1:59you all today. Absolutely.
- 2:01So let's get cracking. It's half term.
- 2:04Are we surviving or thriving? Neither is neither a good enough
- 2:08answer. Absolutely.
- 2:12Oh, I mean, it's been a, it's do you know what on, on the like
- 2:17polished social media front, you know, the stuff that you post
- 2:20online, it seems like I've had a really lovely week.
- 2:23We've had Devon County show. Yeah, it's been, it's been nice.
- 2:26Busy and happy little family love.
- 2:28It yeah, we've had Devon County show, we've had picnics in the
- 2:31park and barbecues in the garden and I did a colour run in the
- 2:36heat wave for the school. I love that.
- 2:38Fair play to you. I mean, it was.
- 2:39It was an experience. I'm still trying to get pink
- 2:41paint out of Autumn's hair, but that's fine.
- 2:47But like, on the real front, it's been a bit brain messy.
- 2:51Should I say? Without getting too deep, a
- 2:53little bit brain messy. And I've like cherry on top of
- 2:57all of my like emotional brain stress.
- 3:01I've done something to my foot. I think all our listeners and
- 3:04you will know that I don't shut up about my only outlet being
- 3:08running and I my body's like ha, ha, no, you can't even do that
- 3:14now. No, I like today.
- 3:17Yeah, I rolled my I was taking autumn's having her first ever
- 3:21big girl sleepover at a friend's house tonight.
- 3:24So it's much, it's like, it's exciting, but my, my mummy brain
- 3:28needed to keep busy. So I took Arya to the park and I
- 3:32was playing a game with her on the way at the road.
- 3:34I was like, don't let mummy step on the road.
- 3:36Mummy's got to stay on the pavement.
- 3:38And then I kept putting my foot on the road and she'd go no, no.
- 3:41And it was like funny and cute. And then I stepped on what I
- 3:46thought was a road, but it was a curb, and rolled my foot down
- 3:49the side of it and I actually heard it pop.
- 3:52Oh no. What's really sad is you didn't
- 3:54even do it running. No, I didn't.
- 3:58And I. See a little picture of you with
- 4:00your like, frozen bag of ice on your foot?
- 4:02I was like, Oh no, she's herself running.
- 4:04But you didn't. You did it.
- 4:05Again, No. Yeah, last week.
- 4:08Not last week, the week before I hurt my foot.
- 4:10No, it was last week I hurt my foot running.
- 4:12I was we love to run on this like little back Rd.
- 4:16It's beautiful actually, but it's full of potholes and I
- 4:21hadn't ran for I hadn't ran for a week because I was having an
- 4:25emotional brain fart time and I just needed to just have some
- 4:28time to myself. So I was like, right, I'm
- 4:32getting back to it, but I'm going to go a bit slower than
- 4:34you just so I can you know, I can do it in my own pace and
- 4:37don't rush myself. So my friend ran on and I'm
- 4:40like, looking around constantly thinking I'm going to, a car's
- 4:44going to hit me. So I turn round to see if
- 4:47there's any cars coming down the road and I fall into this giant
- 4:50pothole and I twist. I twisted my ankle then and it's
- 4:55honestly only just healed. Yeah, I know.
- 4:58Now I've bloody rolled again. What I think this means is
- 5:03exercise ain't for me. Story on my back.
- 5:09I think this just means shut up. This is my my life just going.
- 5:14You need to quit it now. No.
- 5:16You've done so well. You've done so well.
- 5:18You're doing amazing. It's really funny because me and
- 5:20I was at the beach with Tash the other day and I was talking
- 5:23about like how we've not done the pod and stuff at ages and
- 5:25she, she asked if you were still doing your running and stuff.
- 5:28And I was like, she's so smashing it.
- 5:29I was like, she's doing like 10 KS now.
- 5:32She was like, yeah, she was buzzing for you.
- 5:36I'm so I love it and I'm like, I'm not one to ever scream about
- 5:41how proud I am of myself, but I've tried couched 5K four or
- 5:44five times and I've never committed to it.
- 5:46I'm actually doing this for myself now.
- 5:49And I think once you hit past that 3K that people say all the
- 5:54time, like in the in the runners community, a runner or in the
- 5:57run of the world, they say that the first 3K is the hardest.
- 6:01And it really is, because once you've gotten past that and your
- 6:04legs aren't feeling like Jelly anymore, it's quite easy.
- 6:08Like, yeah. Easy should I say?
- 6:10Yeah. Yeah, because your body and your
- 6:13muscles are all used to it. So now I've got past that.
- 6:15I've got past my like mental block and now I'm like, I'm
- 6:18really happy and I'm really, like, proud of myself doing it.
- 6:20And now I'm supposed to be doing, I'm supposed to be doing
- 6:2312 K tomorrow and I can't. Maybe it's my foot.
- 6:25Well, you need to make sure you rest it because if you start it
- 6:28early and it's not healed, then you're going to be even more
- 6:30trouble, so. I know, but this now means I've
- 6:33got to spend an hour and a half extra with my children.
- 6:37Could go for, could go for a. McDonald's instead, you know.
- 6:42Counterproductive. Oh, it sounds like a nice time.
- 6:47Yeah, it's OK. It's it's all been a bit mental,
- 6:50to be completely honest, the last few weeks just feel like a
- 6:53bit of a blur with Nan and everything.
- 6:55But we are, you know, we're powering through and we're just,
- 7:00you know, trying to come together as a family and do what
- 7:03we can and support each other. And yeah.
- 7:06So I'll be back up there next week for the for her funeral,
- 7:08which is on Friday. So it'd be nice to get together
- 7:11with everybody and have a little celebration.
- 7:14And. And what about Malarkey?
- 7:16Yeah. So that's coming up next.
- 7:18Week she was always one for a good celebration as.
- 7:20Well, Oh yeah, Oh my God, she'd be there with a pint of beer in
- 7:23her hand. Absolutely.
- 7:24She used to love a pint of lager, my nan.
- 7:28But yeah, this week's been full on like I've had obviously like
- 7:33child every day on my own because obviously Jack's been
- 7:37busy working and I had a market all day on Saturday.
- 7:40So Jack had Marley all day on his own on Saturday.
- 7:43So I sort of like took the reins on Sunday.
- 7:45The market went really, really well.
- 7:47Had a really, really good day marketing.
- 7:50On. Saturday, that was great.
- 7:51And then, yeah, when he came back on Sunday, I, I took over.
- 7:55I had a lovely beach morning with my best friend, which was
- 7:58so nice. I literally went to the beach.
- 8:01I've been to the beach every day for four days.
- 8:03I've been in the sea. I'm so proud of myself because
- 8:05I'm such a wolf. Oh.
- 8:06I love that. But I'm like every time I see
- 8:08the sun and I'm like you know when you get so hot that all you
- 8:11want to do is just like douse yourself in water?
- 8:14Like I've been literally for the last four days this is the first
- 8:17day since sun like Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday I
- 8:21literally have been in the sea. I did 2 evening swims, 1 little
- 8:25sunset dip which was so nice. Literally so.
- 8:29So nice, yeah. But that was on Tuesday night
- 8:33and we went up to the beach and sat up there and like, had a
- 8:36Fanta lemon and chilled out. So yeah, it was really nice.
- 8:39However, my daughter is just going through a phase where she
- 8:43just will not go to sleep. So everything that I'm planning,
- 8:48I don't know because she's got a fan in her room, so it's quite
- 8:50cool in there. She's just very defiant at the
- 8:54moment. Normally I can like put her
- 8:56down, sit me there for like 10 minutes and be like, right,
- 8:58Mummy's just going to go and get changed.
- 8:59I'll be back in a minute and by the time I've come back she's
- 9:01gone to sleep. But tonight, last night, she's
- 9:05getting out of bed. She's like crying.
- 9:07Then when I say get back into bed, she wants me to sit there,
- 9:09she wants me to hold her hand. I can't honestly just take, it's
- 9:12taken so long to get her to go to sleep, but it's fine.
- 9:16We we're managing had a lovely little walk in the woods
- 9:19yesterday morning with the dog because obviously it's so hot.
- 9:22I can't like take him out when it's hot, but the woods that
- 9:27like up the road from us is so nice and so cool.
- 9:29So we went up there with Molly's little friends and a couple of
- 9:32my mum friends and it was just really nice to have like a
- 9:34little couple of hours out with all the kids running around and
- 9:37laughing and joking together. So yeah, it's been a nice half
- 9:40term to be honest, other than the fact that my daughter just
- 9:42will not go to bed. Well, other than what you don't
- 9:46know, listeners, is that we've tried to record this podcast
- 9:49every day since Monday. Yeah, three nights.
- 9:51Molly is not allowing it. She's like, uh, uh, no, thank
- 9:55you. Actually, that's a lie.
- 9:56The first night I was like, I'm sweating.
- 9:58I can't do the podcast. I'm literally going to pass out.
- 10:00Oh, I see. It was, it was the second night
- 10:04and the third night now that she's been a pain in the ass.
- 10:07Oh dear. But yeah, we're fine.
- 10:09We've got a little party at her nursery tomorrow because her
- 10:11nursery has been open for one whole year.
- 10:13So they're having like a little party with.
- 10:15Oh my God, how cute. Yeah, bouncy castles and stuff.
- 10:18So I'm really excited to take her to that in the afternoon.
- 10:21So yeah, nice chilled weekend plan to.
- 10:23So overall a very nice half term.
- 10:26And thank God for the bloody sunny, because I needed some
- 10:29vitamin D. Oh well, I don't know about that
- 10:32to be honest. Oh, really?
- 10:34I'm I'm, I'm like, I'm a full on spring and autumn girl.
- 10:39Tell me why I am dying in May. I feel like you've tricked my
- 10:44brain. And now next week I'm going to
- 10:46think it's Howa, Howa Howa season.
- 10:48I'll be watching Twilight, but actually it's only May.
- 10:52Yeah, it was the love it mate. I'm here for it.
- 10:54I'm here for the 30° days. I'm like get my legs out in the
- 10:58sun and just sit there and bathe.
- 11:00I'm not have a sweaty under boob.
- 11:01Yeah, I don't have, I don't have an under boob.
- 11:04Comfortably, again, I don't have an under boob so I'm OK.
- 11:09Itty bitty titty Kitty living dream.
- 11:14Oh, I see it right. We should probably leave it
- 11:15there before we start talking about nipples.
- 11:18Sorry everyone. It's time for this or that.
- 11:25No thinking, no hesitation, just stupid answers to stupid
- 11:28questions. So I've gone with I've gone with
- 11:31the like theme of the song this week.
- 11:32Just thought I'd smash it out. So be the loser kid.
- 11:37As in like everybody that hates you and you're part of like that
- 11:39little group that nobody likes but you have elite music taste
- 11:44or being being popular but only listening to crappy overplayed
- 11:48chart songs. So it's so funny because I
- 11:52actually had this question written down for you as well.
- 11:56Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
- 11:57I heard this is my this or that, so that's so funny.
- 12:01So I've already thought of my answer.
- 12:02So I'm kind of prepared today. The loser kid.
- 12:06No hesitation. Literally.
- 12:08I think when I was in school I yearned to be one of the popular
- 12:13kids. But now I literally couldn't
- 12:17care less. I've spent I, I was actually
- 12:19talking to somebody the other day.
- 12:21I've spent my whole life with one or two friends.
- 12:24They are different friends. As you get older, obviously your
- 12:27friendship group changes, but I've always had one or two close
- 12:33friends and I'm happy with that. I don't need a large group of
- 12:38friends. I would find it so
- 12:40overstimulating. I can't even answer a WhatsApp
- 12:42message from my mum, like I don't know how I would cope with
- 12:46that many friends so. Do you know what, though?
- 12:48I think it's like you're like me in that, like, I've got friends.
- 12:52Like, if I get all of my friends together, I've got, like, a good
- 12:55group of people. But like, those friends aren't,
- 12:57like, friends, if that makes sense.
- 12:59Yeah. Like, you all know each other.
- 13:01You all love each other, but you're not friends other than
- 13:04the fact that we get together to do things like if it's my
- 13:07birthday or for my engagement party or, you know, like all of
- 13:09that sort of stuff, Like there's not really a connection between
- 13:13you all. So I have like you and then I
- 13:15have Tash and then I have Tamara and then I have Ricky and Steve
- 13:18and that's like, pretty much it. Yeah.
- 13:21Like they're all small individual friends.
- 13:23I don't have like 1 big massive friend group where everybody
- 13:26loves each other. Yeah, I agree.
- 13:28Over stimulating. Not here for it.
- 13:30I. Like ADHD brain could not
- 13:32compute. Sorry.
- 13:35I don't think I would ever survive with loads of friends.
- 13:39Also I don't think I'd be able to survive with shit music
- 13:42because Oh my God I I am like known in every friendship circle
- 13:47I've ever had or even by like work colleagues.
- 13:50As the girl that does not have a guilty pleasure.
- 13:53I love all music openly. I see.
- 13:57I could not do shit music tastes because how could I be proud of
- 14:01that? Do you know, do you know what,
- 14:03though? Is that like we all love a
- 14:04shitty pop song. Don't get me wrong.
- 14:06Like I am here for like a shitty pop song every now and again.
- 14:09But the stuff that's on the radio right now, Shannon, I
- 14:12cannot. I am not OK.
- 14:15I like no we. Looked at the we looked at the
- 14:18radio on big weekend lineup literally today, me and Bradley
- 14:25and I was like, I know five of these people and literally three
- 14:29of them I listen to it's. The girl that sings, she's got a
- 14:35song about a drug dealer. Is she called Lola something?
- 14:37Lola Young? Oh.
- 14:38Lola Young. Love her, love her.
- 14:41That's pretty much the only person in the charts that I
- 14:43listen to at the moment. And Noah Khan.
- 14:46Maisie Peters is actually at really one weekend, so I'm just
- 14:50going to. I don't, I know you love her.
- 14:52I love like a couple of her songs.
- 14:53Obviously I walked down the aisle to one of her songs.
- 14:55But like, she's not like a massive person that I'd be like,
- 14:59oh, yeah, I want to go and see her.
- 15:00Like I'm not, you know, I don't. Yeah, I'm not here for it.
- 15:03And if I think back to like, the naughties and like early 2000
- 15:07tens, like pop music was, I think good.
- 15:11But like, if it was one of those, yeah, it was a lot
- 15:14better. Brilliant.
- 15:15It's a lot better than it is now.
- 15:17If I'm thinking about pop music now, absolutely no way.
- 15:19If I'm thinking about pop music back then, I don't mind it as
- 15:22much. Also listening to new music with
- 15:25the TikTok generation is actually ruins music for me
- 15:27because. Oh my God, it's people write.
- 15:29People write music to be trendy on TikTok, which I get because
- 15:32you get more listens and more streams and blah blah blah, but
- 15:35I am so sick of listening to. It's the same song.
- 15:38Easy to fall in love. No, shut up.
- 15:42I don't care. That song would have been.
- 15:45I would have liked that song. Yeah, absolutely, absolutely.
- 15:48There's a little TikTok like trending videos just ruin it for
- 15:50everyone. Well, I agree in that I
- 15:54genuinely more than happy to be the loser kid, was the loser kid
- 15:58still am the loser kid because my popularity suffered because
- 16:01my playlist was so bad. Like, genuinely, like, there's
- 16:04no way. If anybody looked at my iPod
- 16:06back then, they'd be like, huh, no, you cannot get away with
- 16:11listening to this sort of music and be popular.
- 16:13I mean, obviously I was popular. I wasn't popular for many
- 16:16reasons, not just that, but still, I would do it all over
- 16:20again. I really would.
- 16:21I love my. My music tasted skinny.
- 16:24Yeah, I'm here for it. OK.
- 16:26Have you got another one then? Because I know you said that you
- 16:28picked you had one that was similar to mine.
- 16:31I do. I've got one more and it is.
- 16:34Would you prefer your teenage bedroom with your posters all
- 16:37over your walls and all of that jazz, or you're like carefully
- 16:44aesthetic adult home? Oh, OK, I mean, not very good at
- 16:49the whole aesthetic thing anyway.
- 16:51I try, I try. I'm looking around thinking if
- 16:54anybody saw my my Conservatory that I'm sat in now, they'd be
- 16:58like, Hun, you don't know what aesthetic means.
- 16:59It's a fucking jumble of shit, but I think genuinely it would
- 17:05be postables. If I could get away with having
- 17:09Vampire Diaries, McFly, Busted posters, Taylor Swift posters,
- 17:14like all over my walls, I would. I would absolutely, as a 33 year
- 17:19old woman, married woman, have it.
- 17:21But I'm not sure my husband would be very pleased if he came
- 17:23home and I had Ian Somerhalder's face.
- 17:25All over the wall. Mine would.
- 17:28Mine right? Yeah, yours would, you'd love.
- 17:30It I've got I've got Ian Somerhalder blanket and Bradley
- 17:33when I got bought from it. I don't know if I've said this
- 17:35on the podcast before, but I was like, ha, ha, ha, look at this.
- 17:38This is the best 30th birthday present ever.
- 17:40And he was like, Oh my God, it's a present for me as well because
- 17:42I get to sleep next to Ian. So I was like, yes.
- 17:46I love that Jack could be like that if it was Zac Efron like
- 17:50old Zac. Efron new face.
- 17:51Not new face Zac Efron. New face.
- 17:54Yeah, no, I'm absolutely all for a poster wall, genuinely.
- 17:58And it's a bit sad that we have to leave that part of us behind
- 18:01because, you know. Hey, I haven't, I don't know if
- 18:04you know, but my I don't know the last time you're in my
- 18:06bedroom, but I've got posters up on my wall.
- 18:08All you have to is frame them now and it looks cool.
- 18:11I used to have that. Idea.
- 18:13I used to have posters. Do you remember my house when I
- 18:16lived in the the flat, the big flat that we never finished.
- 18:22I had a big framed poster of the 1975 and a big framed poster of
- 18:26strange things. Just frame it, mate, Just frame
- 18:30it. That's a.
- 18:31Great idea, I'll just get smaller ones and just frame them
- 18:34and make a whole wall. Of them, that's what my friend
- 18:36lives done up her stairs is like she's got like a photo wall,
- 18:41like a gallery wall and there's loads of pictures of her family
- 18:44and her friends and it's all cute.
- 18:45But then in the middle in smaller frames, it's like a
- 18:48picture of David Tennant in Domino.
- 18:50Oh wow, that's brilliant. And like a little picture of
- 18:54like the McFly boys and the busted boys and like all up her
- 18:57wall. So it looks like these guys are
- 19:00just like friends with her. It's really funny.
- 19:02I love it. And do you know what I think it
- 19:04like is it's a bit of our personalities that we have to
- 19:06like suppress when we like get partners or get married or
- 19:09whatever. And it's so sad, I can't imagine
- 19:13Jack had loads of posters on his bedroom wall when he was the
- 19:16younger name. Rihanna.
- 19:17Ask him about Rihanna. Yeah, I'm sure.
- 19:19I was going to say, I'm sure. If it was anything, it was
- 19:21Rihanna with her boobies out. Yeah, or like how to which I'm
- 19:24here. For I'm saying no, he knew that.
- 19:27He didn't need to put that up, but he knew that already.
- 19:30I'd be all up for a Rihanna poster.
- 19:32It's fine. We can.
- 19:33We can make a deal. I can do that.
- 19:35Go with it. Rihanna one framed Rihanna 1
- 19:38framed in somehow perfect. Like what a what a coordination
- 19:43like, can it get any better than that?
- 19:46I'm here for it. Absolutely here for it.
- 19:51It's time for McFly in the Wild, where we talk about what the
- 19:54boys have been up to this week. So I was humming and gnawing
- 19:57while I was thinking about this episode and I was like, oh, what
- 20:00can we talk about for McFly in the wild today?
- 20:02And obviously there's a few things going on and like, I was
- 20:05on Tom's Instagram and I thought, I haven't spoke about
- 20:07Tom for ages. Love Tom, but my God.
- 20:09We talk about Tom every single. I know, I know, but because we
- 20:13haven't recorded for two weeks, I feel like I need myself.
- 20:15Do you know what I mean? I went on his Instagram page and
- 20:18his whole Instagram is just Paddington, Paddington,
- 20:20Paddington, Paddington and right now.
- 20:21And I was like, I'm so here for it, I'm not going to lie.
- 20:24But I feel like we talk about Paddington a fair amount.
- 20:26So we probably should not do that for this week.
- 20:28So what I thought was, shall we have a little chin wag about
- 20:32some of the clues that have been posted around in that we might
- 20:36be looking at a new album possibly coming out this year,
- 20:41maybe early next year. Yeah, so obviously there's loads
- 20:46of different clues. We've seen quite a few.
- 20:48One of the main ones that I think like seems to be coming up
- 20:51all the time is so many fans getting photos outside McFly
- 20:55Studios, which kills me because we're not ever in London, so you
- 21:01can't just go to be. Fair.
- 21:02To be fair, they were doing lots of stuff with them.
- 21:05Are they called Hello Monday? Is that what they're called?
- 21:07Yes, Danny's. Danny's fan does.
- 21:10He's signed them, hasn't he? Yeah, yeah.
- 21:12He's well, they were the girls from didn't they do Eurovision
- 21:16or? Something.
- 21:17Oh, Eurovision. That's it, yeah.
- 21:19Yeah, and he's doing lots of work with them, so I understand
- 21:21why he's there. But tell me why people keep
- 21:23meeting Harry, Because surely Harry's only there to.
- 21:27Put. Some drums down.
- 21:29Exactly, exactly. They're all there.
- 21:31And you think about how busy Tom is as well at the moment.
- 21:33He's got time to go to McFly Studios.
- 21:35He's doing something important. Do you know what I mean?
- 21:37So we know that because we've seen a lot of posts and equally
- 21:42so jealous. All I want to do is just go and
- 21:44say hello, hi, how are you, love you.
- 21:47I know it's it's so frustrating because we don't have the
- 21:50capacity to just wander off to London every weekend.
- 21:55Also, can we talk about all the summer?
- 21:58Yeah, exactly. And can we talk about all the
- 21:59summer shows that we're not going to?
- 22:02Literally because they're on like weekdays, so far away,
- 22:05awkward weeks. Or they're far away, like even
- 22:08the closest one to us. We can't Cardiff.
- 22:11It's Cardiff, the closest one to us is 4 hours away.
- 22:14I was like waiting and waiting and waiting and I'm like, surely
- 22:16they're going to announce something a little bit further
- 22:18down. Surely they're going to come for
- 22:19like a festival or something like they do every year and they
- 22:22haven't announced anything and I'm so.
- 22:24Sorry, I can't afford it. No, exactly.
- 22:27And I'm. I'm a shame on you, Tom, because
- 22:30your wife is doing a touring theatre production and she's
- 22:32going to the. Hall of Cornwall, come in we've.
- 22:34Wandered down this way. Exactly, exactly.
- 22:37Not up for it, but we are obviously going to that, so
- 22:39that's fine. Ohh, we've got.
- 22:41But we haven't even discussed it.
- 22:43We were like. Obviously we're getting.
- 22:44I've put the date in my calendar.
- 22:48Obviously we've got waitress this year as well, but I'm just
- 22:50very, very sad that I know that we're not going to be like at
- 22:52the summer shows, but it's fine. Maybe a last minute thing will
- 22:55work out and if it doesn't, we've already got a couple of
- 22:57like London visits to do, haven't we?
- 23:00So at least we'll, we'll be around, we're going to exactly.
- 23:03We're going to get to go and see Paddington, which I'm very
- 23:06excited about because that needs to happen.
- 23:08Then we've got rent, which has got.
- 23:11Oh my goodness, don't even get my Stranger Things hot little
- 23:14game, please. I'm going to go, yeah, I'm going
- 23:17to go head to toe in the Hellfire Club.
- 23:20Still lives closed. And he's going to be like, get
- 23:23this freak out of here and I'm going to be like, yo.
- 23:27I'm here for it. I'm so here for it.
- 23:29So, so many different things that we want to go to London and
- 23:31see. So we're going to have to do 2
- 23:33trips, I think at that. Obviously over the next sort of
- 23:35year, we're going to have to do that, but we should have time to
- 23:37go and see all the bits and bobs while we do that.
- 23:40But yeah, that's the first sort of thing that I noticed.
- 23:43And I thought, oh, there's more and more pictures of them at the
- 23:46studios. And then I think it might have
- 23:49been Dougie that posted a picture on a story of them all
- 23:54sat in the studios and the Doug, like, dude with the whiteboard.
- 23:57Yeah. And there's like the whiteboards
- 23:59like blanked out a little bit. Yeah.
- 24:03Let me tell you, my mind went crazy.
- 24:05I was like. And that's that playlist as
- 24:08well. The playlist, it was like when
- 24:10rapping. I don't know.
- 24:11It was like a fake playlist or if it was real, but I'd tell you
- 24:15what, it had me feral. Had some bangers on there, like
- 24:20literally I was like, if this is the vibe of the next album, I am
- 24:23so here for it because it was like I'm.
- 24:25Here for it, yeah. There was some absolute Corker
- 24:28songs on there. I wondered whether you've got
- 24:32like an idea of what the vibe might be.
- 24:33Do you think it's going to be a bit more like power to play
- 24:37heavier, like, you know, a bit more rocky?
- 24:40Or do you think they'll probably bring back a little bit more of
- 24:42like the pop rock style, what you're thinking?
- 24:45And not only that, what do you what?
- 24:46What would you want to hear? OK, I'll go with what I want
- 24:49first because I've got a very, very black heavy metal heart.
- 24:54OK, I'm planning to go and see president.
- 24:58I'm going to vlog this. I've me and Bradley have already
- 25:00talked about this because I'm going to, I'm going to be front
- 25:03row. I'm going.
- 25:03To be can I also can I just bring up Charlie Simpson?
- 25:05You shared me. I think you shared, I think it
- 25:08was you or somebody, somebody shared a video of him singing a
- 25:12song the other day. Oh my God, president.
- 25:15And I was like, this is so good. This is so good.
- 25:17And then he just started going and I was like, OK, maybe not.
- 25:23I was really enjoying the first minute.
- 25:25Oh, the first minute was so good that the singing was really
- 25:28good. And I was like, this is quite
- 25:30catchy. And then there was so much
- 25:31screamo and I was like, I can't deal with, I can deal with a
- 25:33little bit. I tell you now I know I'm going
- 25:36to give you some homework because there are two thoughts 2
- 25:38songs that I know you would like that aren't screaming.
- 25:41They're rocky. One of them is a little bit
- 25:43dancy, actually. Oh, OK, I'll give you some I'll
- 25:45give you some president homework.
- 25:47But yeah, anyway, my, my little, my little metal core heart wants
- 25:52it to be Rocky. I want to hear Danny lose his
- 25:56shit. I want to hear Tom like he is
- 26:00uncorrupted. I, I yearn.
- 26:05What's the song? That I showed you in the car.
- 26:08That I was like Tom's vocals. Is it POV?
- 26:10Oh. No, I don't know.
- 26:14There's a song that I was like Tom's vocals in.
- 26:17Oh, maybe. I think it might have been.
- 26:20I think it was POV. I'm not putting it on, I'm just
- 26:23looking at the lyrics so I can try and remember which one it
- 26:25is. Yeah, it's definitely.
- 26:27Danny does the lovely. Danny does the cute.
- 26:30Bit Tom does. The.
- 26:31Yeah, everything we did this way, that one.
- 26:34Oh my God. I that's what I I yearn for that
- 26:38that McFly. However, nothing in my like
- 26:42there is only one album that beats this album ever in my
- 26:45life. I want a radioactive 2.0.
- 26:49I want that kind of album. I want.
- 26:51I would be so buzzed for that. I want songs like Smile, but
- 26:56equally like The End and like, yeah, I just, I that's my one of
- 27:03my favourite albums in the whole entire world.
- 27:05That's never left my top five albums ever.
- 27:08Yeah, absolutely. That's what I want.
- 27:09I agree. That's what I think it will be.
- 27:12What I want is. I think Power to Play was crazy.
- 27:14Angry. I think Power to Play was
- 27:16actually like, didn't it wasn't overly well received, but
- 27:21actually it is quite a good album.
- 27:23I think that people judge an album when it comes out like
- 27:26straight away the first thing they do is go, Oh no, it's not
- 27:28as good as their last one or it's not as good as this.
- 27:30It's not as good as that. But actually, the more you start
- 27:32listening to the songs, the more you're like, actually this, this
- 27:34is fucking great because there are some absolute bangers on
- 27:37Power to Play and equally going to bring her up because if we
- 27:40don't, who are we? Feel the same about Taylor
- 27:43Swift's Life of a Showgirl. Genuinely, when I first started
- 27:46listening to it, I was like, oh, I'm not sure.
- 27:48Like a couple of them. I was like, Oh yeah, this one's
- 27:50OK, this one's OK. I love it.
- 27:52Every song on that album now, I'm so here for it.
- 27:54I'm so here for it. Yeah, I really do.
- 27:56Even cancelled. I hated cancelled when I first
- 27:58heard it, and now I am. Oh.
- 27:59My goodness, cancelled is literally my top 2.
- 28:02I know. So I'm telling you because I
- 28:04know you love it. I have my least favourite Taylor
- 28:08Swift song ever is on Live show Girl.
- 28:11Which one? Honey.
- 28:15Your least favourite song? Yeah.
- 28:19Oh my God, I love you can. Come on, honey.
- 28:21Singing. And the only one I like that
- 28:24line, none of the rest like. Honey, honey.
- 28:28Oh, it's such a good song. So good.
- 28:30OK, All right. Well, I'll let you off.
- 28:32Also don't like eldest daughter? Yeah, I feel like father figure
- 28:36and eldest daughter are probably the lower ones on my.
- 28:39Oh, I love father figure. Yeah, I don't, I don't vibe with
- 28:42it. But I mean, it's it's not a bad
- 28:44song. This is not a Taylor Swift
- 28:45podcast, what we're doing. Sorry.
- 28:47We do this every week back to McFly.
- 28:51Sorry it's my fault I brought her up anyway.
- 28:55I agree. I think that I would, yeah.
- 28:58I'd be happy for a bit more. I'd like a slight shift from
- 29:01power to play, I think, but I would like the the whole
- 29:04radioactive 2.0 would be great. I love, like you said, the idea
- 29:08of songs like Smile, but also adding that like Rocky, sort of
- 29:13like, yeah, like the vocals, like I need the vocals like Room
- 29:18on the 3rd. Floor Daddy's, I called him.
- 29:21Did. You call him Daddy.
- 29:26I've got kids. I want to.
- 29:28Hear. Daddy.
- 29:30'S I've got kids because I'm constantly saying they were
- 29:31daddy. You're alive, me thinking about
- 29:34Danny don't being a daddy. What I meant to say was I want
- 29:39to hear Danny scream. I want to hear him like crack
- 29:43his throat in the in the this. Is where I'm at but I want I
- 29:48want more from Tom because Tom has got literally unbelievable
- 29:52vocals and I feel like all I've heard from Tom recently is mom
- 29:56mom mom mom mom. Late I'm late I.
- 30:00Do I'm here for, I'm so here for it.
- 30:03Like I love the Paddington Tom, but I feel like I need that like
- 30:07POV Tom back a little bit. You know what I mean?
- 30:09On these days, the vocal vocal vocals.
- 30:11When you think about albums like Room on the 3rd Floor.
- 30:14Great album. Like you know I know it's their
- 30:16first album. I love the songs.
- 30:17Like it's obviously not a highest rated album but I feel
- 30:22like we miss out on a lot of vocal technique in the 1st.
- 30:26But This is why. This is why not alone feels to
- 30:30me like it doesn't feel so. Random.
- 30:32I was just going to say that's the exception.
- 30:35That's always the exception on this album.
- 30:37It's the only one where I feel like there's more vocal that's
- 30:40like focus and they're like technically such good vocalists
- 30:43and I feel like they've grown so much, like as they've aged,
- 30:47their voices have just got impeccable.
- 30:49I just like, would like to hear a bit more of that because don't
- 30:52get me wrong, like where did all the guitars go?
- 30:55I'm so here for it. I love it.
- 30:56Like God of Rock'n'roll, like they're good songs, but they're
- 30:59guitar songs. Do you know what I mean?
- 31:01I was listening to, I was listening to my BBQ.
- 31:04I've got like this, you know how Spotify like makes a playlist
- 31:07for you? Yeah, I've got I typed in BBQ
- 31:11playlist and it gave me like love that BBQ rock, BBQ rock
- 31:16catered to you or whatever it's called.
- 31:18And God of Rock'n'roll came on and Bradley was like, what the
- 31:21fuck is this? I was like, excuse me?
- 31:26Sorry, what do you mean? Excuse me?
- 31:30I mean, I'm here for it and like obviously, like we've got like
- 31:33honey, I'm home, haven't we? Which is Power to Play and We've
- 31:37Got Forever is Not Enough on there as well.
- 31:38Which, you know, obviously there are some really good songs, but
- 31:41I just, I don't feel like it's a singy album.
- 31:44I don't feel like there's enough singy, singy songs on it.
- 31:47Yeah, that's a real technical version of me I want.
- 31:51Them I do get what you're saying.
- 31:53Yeah, yeah. So I would like something a
- 31:55little bit more like Radioactive, but with the with
- 31:58the vocals of songs like Not Alone and POV.
- 32:02Do you know what I mean? Yeah, absolutely.
- 32:04I'm up for that. Do we think, when do we think
- 32:07it's going to come out? When do we think we're going to
- 32:09hear it? Because like, if they're
- 32:10recording now, how long? I'm like, itching for it,
- 32:14genuinely. Up, I think.
- 32:16I think it will be either just before Christmas.
- 32:20Christmas time so. They can get the Christmas sales
- 32:23or because that's so old school, aren't they, that people don't
- 32:26really do that anymore? But I feel like McFly would.
- 32:29Yeah, I get it. Or maybe early next year, like
- 32:34maybe it's a summer album and it comes out in May.
- 32:38But don't you think it would be really good for it to come out
- 32:40like Christmas for them to tour next year?
- 32:43Because that's 100%. The other part of me is like new
- 32:46album means new tour and I am so fucking ready.
- 32:50A hundred 100% But like President and like Enter
- 32:56Shikari. Recently they announced a tour,
- 32:59which I, I actually, we got tickets in Shakari one and then
- 33:03like 3 or 4 weeks later then dropped an album.
- 33:08But it's not, it's not like it was chronological before, wasn't
- 33:12it, That it was an album, See, see how other sales do and then
- 33:15tour it and then album back in the studio and then album and
- 33:19then tour it. Now I don't think necessarily
- 33:21have to do that. I think if McFly produced some
- 33:24tickets and said I'm going on tour, people would buy it.
- 33:27But I feel like when you buy like, tour tickets, you need to
- 33:30know what you're going to see. Do you know what I mean?
- 33:33Like people? Don't do that for Reading
- 33:35Festival. No, very true.
- 33:36No. But like for festivals, I think
- 33:38these tickets without knowing. Who's going to play?
- 33:39No, but I mean like if you're if they're doing like an arena
- 33:42tour, like it would need to be a tour that's like based on like,
- 33:47you know, like they had busted versus McFly, they did power
- 33:50100% they're doing an album tour or are they doing like a
- 33:52greatest hits tour? Like, you know, like I feel like
- 33:55if they're going to release a tour, I feel like it would need
- 33:57a theme. And I feel like the theme is
- 33:59probably going to be the album and.
- 34:01To be fair for McFly, for McFly they normally do.
- 34:04Like there's a name of the tour? Like the up close and personal
- 34:07tour? Or exactly, Oh my God, it'd be
- 34:09so with another up close and personal tour.
- 34:13Oh my goodness, that was my story.
- 34:15It was my first ever McFly tour and I think I went to five shows
- 34:18and it was the best tour I've ever been to.
- 34:20So, so good. I'm here for it.
- 34:22I really am. I'm like ready for a new tour,
- 34:24ready for new music. Just hit me up, babes.
- 34:27Just let me know. I'll save some, save some money
- 34:29for next year because we're going to need it.
- 34:31I think, like, the idea of us not having a lot of, like, shows
- 34:35this year. And actually, we're seeing more
- 34:37like theatre shows this year, aren't we?
- 34:39More than anything, yeah. And doing trips and stuff.
- 34:42I think I'm OK with it. I feel like I'm, I've made my
- 34:45peace with it. Not only that, but like, I feel
- 34:47like with the McFly random, there's been a lot.
- 34:49Yeah. There's been a lot of drama this
- 34:52year. And I'm like, not really like up
- 34:54for it like at all. I don't want to be, I don't want
- 34:58to be at gigs with that sort of vibe.
- 34:59And I know that there's still been that sort of vibe, like at
- 35:02some of the gigs that have been happening recently.
- 35:05I know that there's been drama and stuff and I'm just like, I'm
- 35:07not here for that at all. I'm here to enjoy my band and
- 35:10have a good time and like, I feel like let's give it another
- 35:13year. Hopefully everybody will have
- 35:14moved on and forgotten about dramas and just sort of.
- 35:17Relaxed and but that's the fact of being.
- 35:19There for each other. Yeah, exactly.
- 35:21The thing, the best thing about live music, When people ask me
- 35:24what my hobbies are, I always include live music as a hobby
- 35:27because one of my favourite things in the world is going to
- 35:30gigs. Like you could be in a room with
- 35:3210s of thousands of people that you would never ever be friends
- 35:35with normally, but you get on like a house on fire because
- 35:38you're all there for the same reason.
- 35:40And I think gigs have lost that recently.
- 35:44And I think we just need to, it's just drama.
- 35:45Get our fucking shit together. Literally, like even young
- 35:48blood, there was so much going on, like, and I was just like,
- 35:51we're all here for the same reason.
- 35:52We all want to see Don perform. We all want to see.
- 35:55We'd love to get close to him. We'd all love to see the whites
- 35:57of his eyes. Do you know what I mean?
- 35:58Like, I'd love that. But equally, we're here to see
- 36:01his music and to watch him perform.
- 36:02Just give us a give people a break, give them some space.
- 36:05Literally and also tickets are so fucking expensive, why waste
- 36:09that money being fucking annoying And.
- 36:12That's what I. Did to yourself.
- 36:13The Warning, which were amazing, the support act for them where
- 36:16he was the support act for Don was so good.
- 36:19They were called The Warning. They were three sisters from
- 36:21Mexico and they were absolutely amazing.
- 36:24They had to cut their their set short because there was a woman
- 36:28absolutely pissed out of her face behind us and she was just
- 36:30causing dramas so they stopped the whole show to kick her out.
- 36:34It was just so rubbish. Waste your money being like.
- 36:37That and we were waiting to hear their final song, and their
- 36:40final song was the one that everybody knew.
- 36:42Nobody got to bloody listen to it.
- 36:44Oh so sure. No, but still, I feel like next
- 36:47year is going to be the year we'll make sure we put a bit
- 36:49more money away for, for gigs and stuff and make sure we go to
- 36:52a couple next year for sure. I'm so here for it.
- 36:54And meanwhile, McFly, if you're listening, which you probably
- 36:58aren't, but if you are for it by any means, bloody hurry up and
- 37:01get your ass down the southwest because we're so far from
- 37:04Cardiff. It is not.
- 37:05It's not cast as the southwest. Please come on.
- 37:09Or just like Bristol, Even Bristol.
- 37:12Bristol. I'd be OK with Bristol, but
- 37:14Exeter would be even better. Or Plymouth, like, I'm happy
- 37:17with that. Even better.
- 37:19Come to tunes, the dunes. Come down the tunes in the dunes
- 37:22again. And we'll, we'll yeah, we'll
- 37:24live the dream on the beach together.
- 37:25I'm here for it. It's time for Song of the Week.
- 37:32And this week we are talking all about a Loser Kid, the final
- 37:36track on Busted's debut album. And honestly, what a way to end
- 37:40an album, right? Oh.
- 37:41My goodness, so good. It's chaotic, it's sarcastic,
- 37:45it's dramatic. It's very early 2000s and I.
- 37:49Oh my God, so much. Literally I'm it's one of my
- 37:54it's one of my songs. I feel like completely like sums
- 37:56up my love for busted. They just make people feel seen.
- 37:59Do you know what I mean? Like it made made me like when I
- 38:04was younger, I just totally associated with this.
- 38:10Yeah. I mean, I was, I was an
- 38:12absolute, absolute little rotter at school.
- 38:15I really was a. Little rotter.
- 38:18A little rotter just had no friends.
- 38:19I had like some friends, but they were like not down and
- 38:22outs, but like the average people.
- 38:24Do you know what I mean? They're not really, really
- 38:27popular people and they're not like people that nobody liked.
- 38:30We were just like average, you know, nobody really did.
- 38:33Was bothered by by me. I wasn't bothered by anyone
- 38:37else. It's just yeah, just sort of
- 38:38existing. Yeah.
- 38:40So this song was like, yeah, yes.
- 38:42I was always picked last for teams.
- 38:44Thank you very much. Did you wear sisters jeans?
- 38:47Well, no, because my sister was probably like 6 when I started
- 38:52secondary school. She's six years younger than me.
- 38:56But I, I remember the first verse being really prominent
- 39:00because they talk about the teachers didn't care.
- 39:05They just left me sitting there. I don't know what I did.
- 39:09Can you remember that bit? Yeah.
- 39:12The teachers at my school were like some of them were really
- 39:17really lovely and the rest were just fucking horrible.
- 39:20Like it was 1 extreme to another.
- 39:22There was no like average teachers like I can remember.
- 39:25My favourite teachers were my form tutor, Mr Upshaw, he was
- 39:29amazing. And he actually passed away when
- 39:32I was like 17, I think I'd just left school when he died.
- 39:35It was horrible. My English, English teacher, Mrs
- 39:39Whitlock, she was amazing. Met her in Truro like 6-7 years
- 39:43ago, was like, hey, I'm pretty sure you were my English
- 39:45teacher, she was so nice. And my music teacher who was
- 39:49called Miss Tomkinson and she was this really small little
- 39:53lady and she was just so lovely. And I have those three people to
- 39:58like thank because. Really, Mr Rupture gave me so
- 40:02much confidence because he was so lovely as my former tutor.
- 40:04Miss Whitlock is my English teacher.
- 40:06She literally made me want to be a teacher, that she was like the
- 40:09person that like I, I love doing English and I genuinely left
- 40:13with AB knowing that I did OK with English and that I could
- 40:16move forward with it. And Miss Tompkinson was the was
- 40:19the reason I started singing because she listened to me
- 40:22singing one day like outside the door and was like, why aren't
- 40:25you singing? So they were the only teachers
- 40:28that I actually loved her, but they they were just like nice to
- 40:32me. I think probably felt a bit
- 40:34sorry for me because I was such a loose.
- 40:38I had some really horrible teachers, like horrible and I
- 40:42can remember. Thinking do I remember any of
- 40:44mine and I don't remember a single one of my.
- 40:48But to be fair, I feel like that's probably a good thing
- 40:51because that just means they weren't horrible to you.
- 40:53They weren't really, really nice to you.
- 40:54You were just like in the middle.
- 40:55Do you know what I mean? Like.
- 40:56I just I literally drifted for a school.
- 40:58I remember Mr Smiley who was the fit PE teacher.
- 41:03I had a fit slide teacher called Doctor Smith.
- 41:07Oh, wonder where he is now. I haven't seen him since we left
- 41:12school. Do you ever think about people
- 41:13that you knew a really, really long time ago and you think
- 41:15wonder where they are? Because like, there's so many
- 41:17people that haven't seen. I always try.
- 41:20I always try and Facebook stalk them.
- 41:21Facebook isn't really a thing anymore and no one knows.
- 41:24People hate Facebook. Well, yeah, I, I had a couple of
- 41:28teachers that were just so horrible to me.
- 41:29I had I remember somebody, one of my my drama teacher called me
- 41:32an attention seeker. You're drama teacher.
- 41:36Literally, I was like, Hun, I'm doing drama.
- 41:38Of course that's. What you're supposed to do?
- 41:41Literally she told my friend that she thinks that I think I'm
- 41:45better than I am at drama. Bear in mind I went on to get a
- 41:49degree in performing arts so she can literally fucking do one.
- 41:52But still, I, I feel like my teachers watched me get bullied
- 41:57and didn't say anything like 100%.
- 42:01I was bullied so bad like through the whole of school.
- 42:04And I know that they watched me get bullied and, and a lot of
- 42:06them just didn't do anything about it.
- 42:07And that's so sad because as a teacher myself now, if I ever
- 42:11saw anybody bullying or being unkind like is the first thing I
- 42:14do. Is it you?
- 42:16You nip it in the bud there and then.
- 42:18Yeah, I got, I got picked up because I saw some.
- 42:21I saw three children, one boy and two girls saying really
- 42:27horrible things at the bus stop about this other girl.
- 42:29Like they were saying they were going to punch her in the face.
- 42:32She was, she wasn't, she wasn't. They weren't saying it to her,
- 42:35but they were saying it close enough for her to hear.
- 42:37And they had to get the school bus together.
- 42:38So I stepped in and I said something.
- 42:40And then two days later my assistant head teacher called me
- 42:44to the side and was like, I heard there was an altercation
- 42:47at the bus stop. And I was like, shit, this is
- 42:48where I lose my job because I shouldn't have said anything.
- 42:50And he was like, well done because most people wouldn't say
- 42:54anything. And the mum come up to him and
- 42:57gave him like wonderful words to say about me because I then went
- 43:01to tell mum I would not want my child getting on a public, not a
- 43:08public, a school bus with no other real adults there apart
- 43:12from the bus driver because they were in secondary school and not
- 43:17know what's going to go on on that bus, let alone what goes on
- 43:19in school. I was so bad.
- 43:22Also. It's yeah, it's your obligation
- 43:24to do that as well. I think so, you know, but I
- 43:26think I think schooling was very, very different back then
- 43:30because like, obviously we were in school like, bang in the
- 43:33naughties. I think it was like I left
- 43:34school in 2009. So I felt like we probably,
- 43:39like, suffered in silence a lot more than kids do now.
- 43:42I feel like a lot more is done. But I feel like this song was
- 43:45one of those songs I used to just listen to in my headphones,
- 43:48walking around school on my own MP3 player.
- 43:54Yeah, I used to be the I used to be the loser kid who always ran
- 43:57away and hid, and no one took the time to know me.
- 43:59The kick me sign was always on me.
- 44:01And you know, obviously now I'm so famous, everybody wants to
- 44:05know what I do and where I go. Because you live with Miss
- 44:09Mackenzie. Mate, I am Miss Mackenzie, all
- 44:12right? I think it's one of those songs
- 44:16that like people genuinely just connected with and I think the
- 44:20lyrics genuinely were like peak teenaged angst, right?
- 44:23You know, when you're like at school and you just think you're
- 44:25all Moody and cool and like you're listening to the these
- 44:28songs and your headphones, nobody really knows what you're
- 44:31listening to, so you're pretending that you're really
- 44:32cool? That was me.
- 44:34Yeah, but I actually did listen to this.
- 44:36I was also, I used to think this song was.
- 44:38I used to think it was so clever.
- 44:40Obviously, it's really not a huge deal.
- 44:42But back then when I was a child and I was, you know, finding out
- 44:45what real music was and I was listening to this song, I
- 44:49thought that when they, quote, whispered in my ear, that's what
- 44:53I go to school for. I thought that was so clever.
- 44:57I remember I thought good. I I thought it was so clever.
- 45:02Circling the the song back to the start of the album again.
- 45:05I thought that was bang on genius.
- 45:08Very good. Very clever, absolutely so good.
- 45:12It's just one of those songs that like they and like they do
- 45:15they they link like Miss Mackenzie and the whole like,
- 45:19you know, 33 thing and they link that a lot in like their other
- 45:22songs, don't they? They all sort of like link
- 45:24together and I love that about Watson.
- 45:25I think Mcflyer like not as good at that.
- 45:28I don't feel like they have as many like little Easter things
- 45:31like that, do they? But obviously.
- 45:32Yeah, it's very Easter eggy. Yeah.
- 45:34Yeah, it's so good. I love that Charlie's Charlie's
- 45:38voice. Can we talk about Charlie's
- 45:39voice in this song? Because.
- 45:41I love him. Charlie's voice forever, mate.
- 45:44He's like I. Was a loser.
- 45:46Kid, he's like so low and like so like great, like gritty and
- 45:52like. Yeah, he's fucking sick.
- 45:56He's so cool. He's such a geezer.
- 45:59So what's your rating? OK, I'm going to give it a solid
- 46:038.5. Love it.
- 46:06I really love it. Yeah.
- 46:08I feel like there are better songs, but I feel like there's
- 46:11no way I could compare this to any of the other songs that I've
- 46:14rated below an 8.5. Do you know what I mean?
- 46:16It's definitely up there for me. Yeah, I love it.
- 46:19Love it. And I think it's a real, like,
- 46:21good way to end the album. Like, obviously we talked about
- 46:24how like without you before, this felt like a little bit of
- 46:28like a a low song to have at the end of the album.
- 46:33I felt like the penultimate song probably should have been a bit
- 46:36more of an upbeat, yeah, because this is a upbeat song, but it's
- 46:40also not like year 3000 upbeat. Do you know what I mean?
- 46:43It's like a bit more. Yeah, emotional.
- 46:46It's very. It's very the boy in the black
- 46:50dress. Do you know what I mean?
- 46:51It's very, it's very, listen to it without listening to the
- 46:57lyrics and it sounds like a really cool song.
- 47:00Listen to the lyrics, you know what they're talking about.
- 47:02Yeah, yeah, it's quite clever. Yeah, 100%.
- 47:05Yeah, I completely agree. What's your rating?
- 47:099.5. Oh girl, yes, I'm here for.
- 47:13It I love this song I As we all know I am a controversial rater
- 47:19and I rate very low usually. However, this song, I think you
- 47:25just came in the right time in my life.
- 47:27I just really loved this song. It like I said, it made younger
- 47:31me think about things musically and like about that line and
- 47:36ring like circling back to the beginning, the album I I deeped
- 47:40the song. Whereas usually back then I was
- 47:42like reach for the stars, like I was a deeper song.
- 47:45There was not many songs to deep.
- 47:47Back there. Literally puppy love like I.
- 47:54I didn't why was is such a vibe? I'm sorry.
- 48:00Learned all the dance and everything.
- 48:01Oh wow. And like Atomic Kit and the Tide
- 48:04is High. Like those are the songs that
- 48:06like came out that time and this song, like it was AI think it
- 48:10was genuinely was one of the first songs I like really deep
- 48:12and like it made me really enjoy songwriting and writing in
- 48:17general. And that is now what I do in my
- 48:19spare time. Like I I love to write and I'm
- 48:22not putting it all down to this song.
- 48:23It's not all down to the song, but this song.
- 48:24No, it's a little bit, Yeah, a bit of a Kickstarter, isn't it?
- 48:28I get you, I get you. But.
- 48:31Also like non emotionally it's just a fucking banger.
- 48:36It's so hard. It's one of those songs that
- 48:38everybody knows that it's the last song on the album as well.
- 48:41And I feel like usually by the end of the album people have
- 48:43sort of like zoned out a bit, but you don't on this album.
- 48:45This is such a good song to stick around to the end for like
- 48:48100. Percent, 100%.
- 48:50And then, like you said, it gives.
- 48:51You up to go that to the beginning.
- 48:53Yeah, literally. Yeah.
- 48:54And like when day turns into night, everybody's just crying.
- 48:57If you can get through those songs and still get to this,
- 49:00you're you're a 10 out of 10 fan mate.
- 49:02Absolutely. And it takes you back to the
- 49:04beginning and then you're like, oh, whoops, I've pressed restart
- 49:07and I've started listening to the CD.
- 49:08All over again. Oh, what a shame.
- 49:13OK, it's time for the naughties lost songs.
- 49:17And this week we are entering our emo era.
- 49:20Now I'm just going to say I wrote that.
- 49:22But actually, we never really left it, did we?
- 49:23So let's just I was. Just about to say, not sure I
- 49:25really left. I literally have a badge on my
- 49:29purse. It says elder emo, elder emo.
- 49:32I have a I have a T-shirt that somebody bought me as a joke as
- 49:36like a Secret Santa present. Jokes on them because I think
- 49:39it's 10 out of 10. It says it was not a phase mum.
- 49:42Oh I love. That chokes on you mate.
- 49:46That was fucking. I'm here for it, I am.
- 49:49I'm at the point in my life where I bought myself a badge
- 49:52the other day online that's got nice 4 little witches in a
- 49:56circle and it says underneath God forbid women have a hobby.
- 50:02Oh my goodness. I saw that on a badge the other
- 50:04day. I was in this like, I love it.
- 50:07I was in like, yes, I was in like this weird, like nerdy shop
- 50:10and I always look at the badges there because I always look for
- 50:12ones that I can put on my lanyard.
- 50:14And I saw that one and I genuinely thought of you.
- 50:18Just so up for it. Anyway, this week we are talking
- 50:22all about My Chemical Romance and Teenagers.
- 50:27Oh my goodness, so good. A song that made every school
- 50:31assembly feel oddly threatening. Honestly like that many children
- 50:36like are teenagers and hormonal and gross all in one room.
- 50:39It should have been illegal. It genuinely should.
- 50:42Have been. I feel like it made us feel like
- 50:45rebels, you know, I mean, like when I used to listen to this
- 50:48song and I was like, you're gonna clean up your looks like
- 50:52like who am? I grunt as well.
- 50:54Who do I think I am to make a citizen of you?
- 51:03Obviously, I'm really good at singing this song.
- 51:07Obviously we weren't rebels. We were carrying, you know,
- 51:09Coca-Cola pencil cases covered in glitter.
- 51:12You know, we were not rebels at all.
- 51:14But I can remember hearing this song for the first time.
- 51:17My friend, she was called Tammy. Big shout out, Tammy.
- 51:21Don't know where you are, what you're up to now, babes.
- 51:23But you know, thanks for all the mems.
- 51:25She was such a good friend at school.
- 51:28I felt like we got we just got on so well.
- 51:29And she was like my friend that loved music and she was my
- 51:32friend that loved like emo E music and I was so here for it
- 51:36because like had other friends that like Tamara was like my
- 51:39Taylor Swift friend, like she loved Taylor Swift.
- 51:42So we used to listen to that together.
- 51:43And then I had like my boyfriend at the time was like a bit in
- 51:46more into like Sum 41 and like the offspring and like that sort
- 51:49of vibe. Tammy loved My Chemical Romance.
- 51:53That girl came up to me with a little MP3 player.
- 51:57Looked like a little like a pill shaped MP3.
- 52:00Player. With like the wired headphones
- 52:03that we had one niche ear and it was so like crap quality.
- 52:07You had to like hold it in your ear to even be able to
- 52:10understand what they were saying.
- 52:11She had it up like the latter. She was like, have you heard
- 52:13this song? And I was like, no, she's like,
- 52:15do you want to listen to it? I was like, yes, sat down and I
- 52:19was like, it started and she I can remember her just sort of
- 52:21like bobbing her head and I was like this is sick.
- 52:26Ohh my and I was like, who is this?
- 52:28And then she told me obviously that it was my common chromats.
- 52:30And then I remembered that they did the welcome to the black
- 52:33parade and that was it. Welcome to the Black.
- 52:35Parade. Yeah, Yeah.
- 52:36Absolutely hooked those two songs.
- 52:38Did your eyeliner just grow a little bit thicker the longer
- 52:42you listened? And the fringe got heavier.
- 52:46Oh yeah, right, you. Like you lost the hair got
- 52:48blacker. The end of the song.
- 52:50Yeah, the sweatbands came out, the vans, the chequered bands
- 52:54like. Chequered board bands.
- 52:56Living the Dream. Yeah, I can remember.
- 52:58That was the first time I heard it, and I genuinely did feel
- 53:01like I felt a bit cooler after I heard it.
- 53:03I remember putting sorry, I remember putting the lyrics in
- 53:07my Bebo, like, oh, wow. Like tagline.
- 53:14I can't remember which little We're going to sleep with a gun
- 53:17and. It was something about.
- 53:18It was something about a gun. Yeah, it was something about a
- 53:21gun. Gun, gun.
- 53:25Oh, God, so funny. Anyway.
- 53:30The first time I ever heard this song was actually, hilariously,
- 53:34my dad. Oh.
- 53:36OK, I was, I was a big Michael romance fan and he was like.
- 53:39Papa John's. Have you heard this one?
- 53:41Yeah. He was like, I love this one.
- 53:43I was like, I was like, no, I haven't.
- 53:46He was like, listen to it, you'll love it.
- 53:48And he put it on my MP3 player and that was it.
- 53:51I already loved them. I like the three cheers for a
- 53:54sweet revenge album. Like I was I was a day dot My
- 53:57Chemical Romance fan, but I hadn't heard this song.
- 54:01I think I was like going through my like Paramore evanescence
- 54:07phase. I like zoned out a little bit of
- 54:09My Chemical Romance and he was like, have you heard this song?
- 54:12Put it on your MP3 player. So he lime wired it for me.
- 54:17Ohh lime on my MP3. Remember lime wire?
- 54:20Lime for my friend Lucy used to do my MP3 player for me 'cause
- 54:23she had lime wire. I think it's shit, but I think
- 54:29you'll like. It you'll like it.
- 54:30Well, I can remember my so not my like my like high school
- 54:36boyfriend. I had like my proper boyfriend
- 54:38in secondary school was from like year 10.
- 54:40But in year 8 I had like a really Emery boyfriend and he
- 54:44was called Sam. And he had like the darkest
- 54:47eyeliner and like black hair and he used to wear like ear
- 54:51stretchers and he had like snake bites.
- 54:52And I just remember thinking he was literally the cool.
- 54:55He lived in Scotland, London didn't work.
- 54:58He used to live here and then he moved to Scotland and he
- 55:01literally like we started to get to know each other like as he
- 55:03was moving to Scotland. So it was just, but I remember
- 55:09he really loved My Chemical Romance and then like the years
- 55:12that like after he moved, obviously like we weren't
- 55:14together. But like whenever we talk,
- 55:16sometimes we just send each other the lyrics from like My
- 55:19Chemical Robot, the songs. And it was always like Black
- 55:22Parade and teenagers and we just send each other just like, so he
- 55:26he'd know I was thinking about him, I'd just send him a little
- 55:28line for one of the songs. That's so funny.
- 55:32Can we also talk about how even like emo non emo people know the
- 55:36chorus to this song? Because I bet you.
- 55:39I. Bet you any money if I put this
- 55:42song Jack would know the chorus and he is like the furthest
- 55:45person from emo you could ever get.
- 55:49I think Jack could be the only person that I've ever met, that
- 55:53I've ever met or known in general.
- 55:55The only person that hasn't had an emo phase.
- 55:57Emo phase. Maybe it's to come.
- 56:00Oh, I'm very excited. It's to.
- 56:01Come. I'm here for it.
- 56:04I'm So if you want to go buy some eyeliner, babe, absolutely.
- 56:08He's going to come home with a little studded belt next week
- 56:11and you'll be like, hello, it's arrived, it's arrived.
- 56:17Why not? Why?
- 56:18Not I'm up for 100%. Well, obviously this emo era was
- 56:24just absolutely incredible and I felt the naughties was really
- 56:26big for like emo slash goth era, wasn't it?
- 56:29Because it was like not cool. Like it was not cool to be emo.
- 56:33Now it's kind of like a cool thing to be alternative and like
- 56:36be a bit out there. It's almost like encouraged.
- 56:39Whereas back then it was like, oh, you're an emo, get out.
- 56:42Yeah, it was like you were. If you were an emo or a goth,
- 56:45you were like scum of the Earth. If you were scene kid, you were
- 56:48disgusting, but you were hot. Yeah, wannabe, wannabe, scene
- 56:54kids. Like wannabe.
- 56:55Yeah, Yeah, it was like emo kid but with colour.
- 56:58And a bit more back. Home but now, like I like you're
- 57:04cool if you're an emo these days or like even like like even
- 57:09people that I know from back then that didn't necessarily
- 57:13like that music are now like openly liking it.
- 57:17Yeah, absolutely. Like it was so hidden back then,
- 57:19I would have never have thought that from them, but now they're.
- 57:21Like you wouldn't like tell everybody that you were, yeah,
- 57:24you wouldn't like project that you were listening to that on
- 57:26your iPod or IP3 player. But you know, again, it's one of
- 57:32those songs that everybody knows if you play, if you play this at
- 57:34like a club night or like, you know, not club, club now, but
- 57:38like an older club night, people would absolutely love him.
- 57:42I would go into like a pub. For that dance floor.
- 57:46Open mic, just like yeah. I would literally levitate.
- 57:50Levitate. Did you have a favourite member
- 57:53of the band? Duh.
- 57:56Like are you joking? I'm a Gerard Way girl from day.
- 58:00Like as soon as I started listening to them I was like who
- 58:03is this man and why is he not like a sign?
- 58:07And you know. What's really funny, he wasn't
- 58:09even that attractive, Shannon. No, I know that's, but Frank
- 58:13Aero was, he was like the guitar player, the mysterious guitar
- 58:17player who like had this fringe. I just remember like, like Jared
- 58:21way for me was like the black hair, the very pale face and
- 58:26like the eye, shadowy eyes. I tell you what, though, when he
- 58:30bleached it, when he bleached his hair, do you remember?
- 58:33When he had bright. Blonde hair, I I liked a bit of
- 58:35that. You were in for it.
- 58:37Well, we all know we like. I liked a bit of Eminem after
- 58:39the last episode so. True, so maybe you were in touch
- 58:43too. Maybe I was, maybe I was.
- 58:46I mean, I haven't seen Gerald way in a very, very long time.
- 58:48I don't know what he looks like now.
- 58:50Nothing like he used. To like he used to yeah, he had
- 58:54red hair at one stage as well. I think I.
- 58:56Remember, he did the what's that TV show called The Umbrella
- 59:00Academy? He's like the writer.
- 59:03Yes, we watched that. I really enjoyed that.
- 59:05There's a, there's a picture of Gerard Way and he's smiling and
- 59:08he's like got a really like cheesy little smile and he's
- 59:12like, he's wearing like a leather jacket.
- 59:13I'm going to see if I can find it.
- 59:14I can remember years and years ago.
- 59:16Oh my God, literally, I love it so much.
- 59:19And then there's another one with when he's got red hair and
- 59:22I can remember him like looking a bit like like an anime
- 59:27character kind of with this like red hair.
- 59:29He went into, yeah, he went into like, he went into anime though.
- 59:32He went into like comics and stuff.
- 59:34Yeah, I'm going to see if I can find it and show you because it
- 59:36is such a good picture and I can remember it like I remember
- 59:39seeing it thinking, yes. I feel like he had red hair when
- 59:42they did that na na na na na song.
- 59:43Do you remember that song Na na na na na na?
- 59:45Na, yeah, yeah, I wish that it was going to annoy the hell out
- 59:49of me. It's.
- 59:49Called na na na na na na oh is. That what it's called.
- 59:52Oh OK, that makes me feel better.
- 59:53I'm pretty sure I haven't forgotten it.
- 59:55There's a couple, there's a couple of different pictures of
- 59:57him with like red hair. I'm sure I'm going to have a
- 1:00:00look later and see what I can find.
- 1:00:01But yes, I mean, we all love a bit of a Nemo phase, right?
- 1:00:05Do you still sing this now? Would you like to put it on in
- 1:00:07the car or like if you were like on the like on the train or you
- 1:00:10know, had your headphones in, would you put this on?
- 1:00:12Mate, I live in this era of music I don't listen to.
- 1:00:17I don't listen to modern music. I listen to early 2000s emo 100%
- 1:00:23or Taylor Swift or Busted a McFly.
- 1:00:25I don't like. I listen to Post Malone every
- 1:00:29now and again. I love, I love Post Malone and I
- 1:00:31like Neo Khan and I've got a bit of a country.
- 1:00:32Play in the country do you love? It country, but I tell you what,
- 1:00:36what always makes my Spotify is like I'm always called like like
- 1:00:43disgusting emo or something. You know, they come up with
- 1:00:45like, do they come up with like? Spotify is calling you a
- 1:00:49disgusting e-mail. Well, they they come up with
- 1:00:53like these weird phrases to call you, don't they?
- 1:00:56Yeah. And mine are always like
- 1:00:59disgusting tramp or something disgusting.
- 1:01:03Go, go for a wash. You clearly haven't washed.
- 1:01:06Like there is another pattern that isn't just checkerboard
- 1:01:09like clearly haven't. Washed.
- 1:01:14That's what my playlists are called.
- 1:01:16Wow, that's funny. Try stripes, not checkerboard,
- 1:01:19and that's what my playlist is called.
- 1:01:21I'm here for it, you know. It's not good.
- 1:01:23Do you listen to this? Would you listen to?
- 1:01:25This Now I've got a play, I've got a playlist.
- 1:01:28What's it called? Are you a disgusting emo?
- 1:01:31No. It's not called disgusting emo,
- 1:01:34it's called old. Playlist.
- 1:01:37I love oldies. I've got playlist.
- 1:01:39It's called Miserable at best, which is hilarious because it's
- 1:01:43so it's a song title from one of my favourite, like emo songs,
- 1:01:48but I listened to it. I listened to it when I made the
- 1:01:50playlist and I was like, it's so fucking funny because people
- 1:01:53look at this playlist and they're like, this is miserable.
- 1:01:56Do you remember a simple plan? I'm just a kid and life is a
- 1:02:02nightmare. Yes.
- 1:02:04Great song. Love that.
- 1:02:06Love that. I used to really like, like Good
- 1:02:09Charlotte and Three Doors Down. Yes, they were like, they were
- 1:02:14like big ones for me back in the day.
- 1:02:15Good Charlotte, I've just announced a tour in the UK.
- 1:02:19Stop. Are they going to sing all their
- 1:02:20old? Songs.
- 1:02:21Are they going to sing Lifestyles of the Rich and
- 1:02:23Famous? I will get my chequered shoes
- 1:02:27out and my little belt and we can get some eyeliner.
- 1:02:30My eyeliner. Yeah, Black nails.
- 1:02:33Yeah, to be honest, spiritually, I'm still in that zone.
- 1:02:37So, you know, it's never ended. I'm still, I don't think I'll
- 1:02:40ever leave. It wasn't just a phase.
- 1:02:45So that's it for today's episode.
- 1:02:48As always, thank you so much for listening to Galaxy Crashers.
- 1:02:52If you enjoyed today's chaos, make sure you follow, share and
- 1:02:56send this to your fellow Busted and McFly obsessed Bessies.
- 1:03:00And next episode, we are moving on to review both debut albums
- 1:03:04from McFly Busted. So exciting.
- 1:03:07So make sure you tune in for that one, which is going to come
- 1:03:09out two weeks today. We have made a very difficult
- 1:03:12but important decision to make these episodes bi weekly from
- 1:03:16now on. And this is because we have a
- 1:03:18very exciting project that we've sort of put to the side for the
- 1:03:21last sort of six months. And I feel like we really need
- 1:03:24to dedicate some time to it as well.
- 1:03:25So yes, that is the reason we're moving it to two weeks.
- 1:03:29Definitely. Definitely a difficult decision,
- 1:03:31but exactly very exciting all the same.
- 1:03:33Yes, new era unlocked to Galaxy crashes is expanding New
- 1:03:39Horizons. Who knows, I love it.
- 1:03:43Obviously, for now, keep your playlist loud.
- 1:03:47And happiness in your hearts. Goodbye.
- 1:03:50Bye.
