We'd love to have you join. we're gonna be going live for our normal weekly show on Wednesday night where we will preview Vanderbilt, who comes to town on This upcoming Saturday. So it'll be a great game. Before we do so though, let's let's hop in. So obviously we mentioned that Georgia moves to four and overall and two and in SEC play. But we can look back at Oklahoma and I think the term we can use is that a lot more went right than went wrong. Obviously, we have a lot of our fan base, including myself, that looks at these games and we just see the multitude of things that we just want and we would love to be better, but I think we have to understand too that this team is still it's early in the season, right? This is the second SEC game. A lot of stuff's still on the table. A lot of our bigger games in the SEC are right around the corner, though. And some of the things that we saw this past Saturday are just things that kind of haunt us, right? Especially with two weeks from now going into Tuscaloosa, which if you haven't looked, that game has been scheduled for seven thirty. ABC. It's a night game in Tuscaloosa in two weeks. We're not looking too far ahead, but that game has been scheduled and TV times have been released. So once again, it'll be primetime Georgia, Alabama. And so we're gonna see if we can get the hex off here in a couple weeks. we learned a lot, right, from Saturday. I I think the first thing we can step into is Georgia's defense may have just shown us how good this unit can actually be. Number two, I think Georgia's offense still has some things to clean up. before this team gets into any really difficult part of the schedule, I think there's time to do that though. Now, notice I just said clean up. you know, before I even go into details and segments of tonight's podcast, I will say I I reiterate that I dropped a I dropped a video around third quarter of the game and just talked about, you know, frustrations of running the football. And a lot of guests took it took that as well, you know, why are we just gonna sit there and run the football, right? I mean You gotta understand too, if you watch the podcast, if you listen to the podcast, I don't come calling for Kirby and come calling for Mike Bobo every single week and complain about play calling. The the reference to what was going on was is I I do understand that it was a great opportunity during the cur third quarter to let it loose a little bit, right? You're going against a really good defense in Oklahoma, which we're gonna talk about here in a second, but I do understand the the thought processes. We have a lot of games that are going to possibly take away. A lot of things that we have going on and we're gonna have to sit back and we're gonna have to make reads or have to let it fly. And what a better time to do it when you're up comfortable against such a good team like Oklahoma, which I honestly can look back now and just say a good defense with a very struggling offense. So I totally get it. I get the mindset and I and I'm I'm I trust Kirby, I trust Bobo, but we've noticed in the past and this year that the run obviously has been something that has set up the past. tremendously ineffective way. So so all I was saying is is if we can do some things like get some runs going, get some play actions, get get a threat of something other than a drop back pass, I think it'll be just more beneficial for us to get a little bit of balance going, right? forced us to I mean, we had a lot of miscommunications in the third quarter. We're going to talk about that. Excuse me, in one second. But yeah, so that's kind of what I meant by that. It was not more of the fact of, you know, I'm not trying to be a sideline coach and a and I think somebody said, Well, that's why you're you're on TikTok and you're not on a coach. I'm not trying to get at that. I'm just trying to get at the fact that I felt like right then we had some blunders and I felt like the run game keeps us on time, keeps us constant, keeps us keeps us consistent. And it just wasn't a part of the game plan right there. So, anyways, that was my two cents on it. But let's be honest. Oklahoma brought one of the better defenses Georgia is going to see during the regular season. I think personally it's the best defense that Georgia will see in the regular season. I mean, these linebackers from Georgia are e I mean, I'm sorry, from Oklahoma are elite. I think you know, I I I keep going back to the fact of those cornerbacks from Oklahoma are their first or second rounders. I feel like at the end of the day that Those guys are very good cover corners. I think secondary was really good. I think for the most part, I mean, even though David Stone was there and he was playing, I mean, I really feel like you could you could really see that he was not as much of a factor as he's been in the past with the injury. Now, Kip Lewis, his return for Oklahoma was huge. He was everywhere. And and he let Kirby know one time. I think if you notice Kirby was kind of near that play where we had the the one where he was going after the quarterback, but he got called for an illegal block below the waist. And he was in Kirby's face and he was like, I'm here, Kirby, I'm here. And I'm pretty sure Kirby was like, Yeah, dude, I see you. You're everywhere. And so this defense was elite. So let's look past the fact that Georgia had a really good showing against a really good defense. And I think they had a really good showing on on on defense versus offense has struggled. We did what we were supposed to do. Like we we made things happen. W anytime the turnover ratio is is in our favor, that's something that has has just been against us in the past few years. So but at the end of the day, the look the small blunders with the offense, particularly in the third quarter, Georgia's dominance on defense, late touchdown again doesn't really give you the the big picture of dominance of a 41 to six game. But the interception A little third issue tonight. The interception in turn set up the only touchdown they scored of the night. So I think if you erase the late touchdown, if you don't put the ball in their hands at the thirty yard line, they make a decent little drive and get a touchdown. Beers at the talented tight end had a few good catches on Saturday, scores. I think it's more of a forty one six game. I think it's very close to being a forty one to zero game. So here's my question I pose going into segment one. How much better can this team get over the next three weeks? Let's start with the obvious. Georgia didn't need to play a perfect offensive game. defense was absolutely dominant. We talked about it. Georgia forced four turnovers, 17 points off those turnovers, and Oklahoma finished with only 65 rushing yards. John Matteer was under pressure throughout the entire afternoon. and Georgia finished with three sacks on him. I I I s I read a lot of boards where they were like, Well, we're still we're still finding finding it hard to get pressure on the quarterback. I I beg to differ. For the most part of the first half, we got pressure with four the entire first half. And I think, you know, we're gonna talk about some defensive players that allowed that, but I think when that happens and you're winning the turnover battle, only good things can be coming to this team. And although I still think Oklahoma it the way it looked against New Mexico and Michigan and now Georgia, I think this team this team still has a lot of fight in I think they're still a really good team and I think they're gonna They're gonna get it together. I mean, Brent Venables is not gonna allow this to flop. Now, Oklahoma has an extremely hard schedule remaining on their slate, but Brent Venables and this staff are not gonna roll over. This is a team that has a really elite defense, and if they can get I mean, I think some disgusting stat was brought up being that Mateer, when he was not blitzed, I think he was thirteen of fourteen. Some major throat issues tonight. Sorry. I think he was 13 to 14. that's impressive. When he was blitzed, when I mean blitzed, it was sending more than four to five guys that were not on the front line. He was two of five. Two of those being no, actually, I mean, yeah. The goal line was a spy. So two at two of five, one of them being an interception, and then the other being where we we sacked him going backwards towards the end zone, got it, and Chris Cole almost ran his second one back of the night. So I think personally, you know, the defense allowed Oklahoma to possess the ball for more than thirty five minutes. However, they only ran sixty nine plays that the Sooners only scored thirteen points on. So very, very impressive and and you know, we're gonna talk through a couple of standouts tonight and really get get in get into it. you know But here's another question. Like, is the is the best defense Georgia will face during the regular season, was this it? I mean, was was this really it? I think it's a legitimate conversation. And I think when you look, when you look at the offensive performance, which we're gonna get into as we look through offensive standouts, I think it's gonna make Georgia fans feel a lot better about what's around the corner. Because I do think we have to kind of reshuffle ourselves to understand that Florida is much different than we thought they were. I mean we're gonna get into that in the in the in the our rankings. I think Alabama is a little bit better than we thought they would be due to the fact that Keelan Russell is not taking as long as as the as it can. Now, have they been challenged yet to run the football and to play really good defense? I I think they'll be challenged this week. but I I don't I don't really know with the Kentucky, I don't know with South Carolina. Like I'm I'm pretty pretty unsure about those two teams because I don't know if those are if they're real or if they're pretenders. I mean, I can tell you after that South Carolina loss that Shane Beamer's job came full circle. I I don't know. It's not if it's not it's not when it's it's it's not if it's when basically what I'm saying. Is it next week? Is it is it a game that They're supposed to win and they I I I don't know, but I I I have this really gut feeling that his days are drastically numbered now. We we knew there was a there was a that we knew there was a part of this year that would see if he didn't do this, this would happen. And so we'll see. But but when we look at Georgia from a defensive standpoint, let's talk through some players that really stood out. On Saturday. I think that I think everybody wants to probably hear this chunk because maybe you're thinking the same things. Maybe there's some people out there that are like, what about this guy? I'd love to hear it if you're if you're in the chats, and I'd love to hear it if you're responding out there as far as wherever this lands later on. the first one is very notable, very easy to see Chris Cole. I mean, how good was Chris Cole on Saturday? eight tackles, a sack. Two fumble recoveries, an 85-yard fumble return for a touchdown, ridiculous performance. I mean, if you ask me, hot take on Chris Cole is why isn't this guy being talked about for Heisman, right? Everybody's like, Gunnar Stockton, why is he not in this talk for Heisman? And some of these Heisman lists I'm seeing, I'm like, maybe I sound a little partial, but Chris Cole, if we're talking about defensive players that are standouts that are absolutely wrecking offenses right now. Chris Cole should be on that list. Nine should be on that Heisman list, in my opinion. but, you know, his first touchdown completely changed the game. Oklahoma had driven all the way down to the Georgia two. and the tear rolls out. And if you look at that play, KJ has to make a choice because he's taking on a tight end high and he's taking on a tight end on an arrow low. And Justin Williams, all albeit he made a bad read. He's just been so athletic lately. Like Justin Williams, I know I'm bouncing around, but he's so athletic. To be able to make the wrong read and get back into the play is stupid crazy. So by the time he gets back into the play, I do think that Mathir, because that's why he pumped, right? He he thinks, okay, I can't get it back there because Justin Williams has recovered. You got Chris Cole spying you. And then you got KJ who is now trying to catch up to that arrow. He sees he can't get it in the back, and he's essentially gonna go for that arrow. And he just loses control of the ball, drops it. Obviously, Chris Cole, you know, runs it back, the length to the field. And there you have it. so that's a 14 point swing in momentum right there. And then Cole comes back later, recovers another Matir fumble, setting up George at the eleven, and then Bowen's touchdown. And that's the definition of, you know, a game changing performance. I'm gonna mention Rashad Dinkins in a minute, but he'll add on to that. then you got then you got KJ Bolden, who I think is I think KJ Bolden is playing. Some of the best football he's played since he got to Georgia. Now, Kirby had his presser today, and I'm gonna be honest, to be a guy asking a question to Kirby in that in that press room on Mondays, it's tough because Kirby's not really he's pretty relentless right now about how he's sharing information. I think it was brought out about the injury list, and you know, he was like, Yeah, he was like, We do those lists for a reason. You'll see it on Wednesday. And I'm sure as a reporter in that room, part of the frustration is But we all know what those reports mean. I mean, you can pull Elaine Kiffin and Kirby's not Lane Kiffin, but you can pull Elaine Kiffin and go your quarterback is is no out real when realistically, like there's not much to uphold that as far as if he's going to be in or out. But I think when you look at the way it dropped this past weekend, I mean, Nate was questionable. Isaiah Canyon was questionable, and you know, Canyon was a Friday, Saturday decision to be out. And then Nate was a game time decision. And he followed it pretty much to a T. Now, whether we want to believe the report, I guess that's another thing, and that's what's Kirby saying. But but KJ Bolton's playing some of the best ball of his career. And, you know, you know, he picked off Mateer in the second, had the big run back, and you know, it reminds me back when when KJ was slated to go to Florida State, and everybody was like, look, Kirby's Kirby's out for KJ. Like there was a very long tech sent out to KJ during that time. And Kirby was intentionally doing most of the recruiting towards the end. And, you know, I I think at the end, KJ just said it was hard to tell this guy no. And it was hard to understand the fact that how hard he was going to coach me up to be the best defensive back that I could be. And I could tell you right now, those guys are really, really close. Him and KJ are close. They will be close for a long time, well into his NFL career. because Kirby coaches him hard and KJ likes to be coached hard and he is coachable in that way. And that makes for a dynamic result of just more than connecting on maybe getting a player to the NFL. It it gets you a player that when they're in college, they're playing at an elite level and not only training for the next level, but but creating I mean I'm sorry, accomplishing goals. at the college level to just kind of, I guess, reward your hard work during that, during that time. And KJ's one of those guys right now. it was his first interception of the season and fourth of his career. He returned it for 28 yards. Georgia didn't turn that particular takeaway into points, but it was another example of the defense constantly putting pressure on on Mathir all day long. You know, and my question would be like, Are we watching KJ Bolden turn into one of the leaders of this Georgia secondary? And I'm not talking about just like, well, he yeah, of course he's one of the leaders, right? But is he like the voice? Do you feel like out of all of the I mean, there's some studs, right? I mean, we c we can say a lot of things. We can we can say Chris Cole possibly is playing at the highest level he's ever played as a Georgia, in a Georgia uniform, Nate Frazier. you can say possibly Gunner. You could probably say Ernest Green is probably in the best playing shape of his life and playing some of the best ball he's played. there's a lot of people that can fit into that mold. d'Melo Jones, I think, is doing that. I mean, there's a lot of people, Justin Williams, but is KJ Bolden gonna be the deciding factor the rest of this year to really step up and to play elite football? And where I think KJ's been really special is they always knew KJ could cover. But I think this year put on a little bit of weight. And he is really, really sticking his head into the physical part of the run game, into the physical part of hitting people. And I think that's something that was maybe told to him. It's like, look, man, in in order to actually like check it, check the box off and to be a top fifteen, top ten pick, I think you're gonna have to get your head in there a little bit. And I think also not only that, I think you're gonna help your team a lot and we're gonna be more successful as a secondary. And and he took that to notice. And he's doing a really, really great job playing a really high level. I mentioned this name, but Justin Williams, man, he is God, man, he is possibly flying under the radar because how good Raylan Wilson and how good Chris Cole are playing. But I just remember that play on the goal line. He made a bad stab and he had his eyes in the backfield. But man, the speed these linebackers are running with. He was able to in four steps Get back into that play with that tight end and make Mathir make a different decision about where he was going with the ball. That was huge. Because in turn, if you don't do that, that's a free play in the back of the end zone. And if Matir's not making that throw, Mateer doesn't need to be in the game. But for him to be able to get back out of that out of that misstep and be back into that play is huge for Georgia. And I'm gonna be honest, people are asking, they're like, you know, what's going on? some of these other talented linebackers, they're playing behind first and second round draft picks. That's the problem. You're not seeing these guys come off the field. They're not coming off the field because they feel like they don't they don't want to drop off on third down. They feel like we are at a real elite level with them not only in pass coverage, but in the rush. They we feel like they're they've been kind of trained to not be to to be. I mean, Chris Cole can just he just has a different level of preparedness as far as like health. I think Raylan's in the best health of his career and Obviously we talked about Justin, but you know, he doesn't necessarily show up with the flashiest stat line every time either. But, you know, you gotta watch film. He's everywhere. He had four tackles today, but I mean Saturday, but he was involved in a lozic a lot of the physical side of the game and helped Georgia keep Oklahoma's rushing attack, you know, from get from getting going personally. That's something that Georgia needs from from from this linebacker group is they don't need just to be splash. They don't need to be splash play guys. They need to be consistent. They need to be taking good angles. They need to be they need to be getting to the quarterback and they need to be tackling well. And this guy has been the epitome of a great linebacker for the first four games that doesn't have the stat line to show it. Obviously we talked about I think a shout out needs to go to Rashawn Dinkins. Dink not only punched a ball out, which is, you know, that's big time stuff, man. I mean, you see a lot of we call blessings where the ball's on the ground because, you know, you you catch the ball, you get you know, accidentally hit or you catch it and then you try to make a move and you drop it. But this was an instinctive play where, you know, there was an explosive play that happened. Dinkins didn't give up on the ball. He punched it loose. And he not only punched it loose, but he got his own fumble. And so he recovers it and that set up the touchdown for Chauncey where Chauncey just manned up and drug about four or five people in with him. And you know, his recovery in the third quarter gave Georgia the ball at the Oklahoma twenty eight. I'm sorry, this one eventually Thinkings eventually gave Peyton Woodrend field goal that put us up. but another example of Georgia's defense continuing to create opportunities. I think when you're winning the turnover battle, that's always a really good thing. And I would I would have been shot to tell you that a lot of people are asking, like, what's the what's the difference been in why you're outscoring opponents like you are the first four games of the year? And it's not because the offense is just overly explosive, it's because you're winning the turnover battle. You're not giving him the Give them the ball in turnovers and you're you're getting way more turnovers. You're causing and you're affecting plays, but you're also just you're also just downright getting the ball, right? Not just causing negative plays. You're getting the football in good situations. Number one, resulting in, you know, touchdowns off the defense and then others returning, you know, resulting in touchdowns from the offense off of the the field position. So another guy I want to shout out is Jordan Hall. Man, it's so good to see this guy playing well. Obviously, we know Jordan and the injuries he's gone through and the defensive line deserves a ton of credit because Georgia consistently made Mateir uncomfortable. It allowed these linebackers to scrape and run free. And if that happens, this linebacker crew is extensively deadly. When they're allowed to run, they are fast, they are elusive, and they are relentless. And so kudos to Jordan Hall and this this defensive line. I mean, even I think a player I don't have on here but needs to be shouted out is Val Danson. I mean, this freshman, you can see why this kid's on the field early. It's not just because, well, if we don't get him on the field, then what if he doesn't want to know? I think this kid deserves to be on the field because there are some moves happening on that front line as a true freshman that you can't teach. He is he is three hundred to three hundred and fifteen pounds and he is moving like a two hundred and sixty pound defensive end and he is putting the moves on these centers and interior guards and he's he's he's powerful, he's twitchy. I mean, this he's only gonna get better too. Scary enough, that's four games in. And he's only gonna get better. I mean, Georgia has proven that the stock rises after the bye week with Georgia. So this team's only gonna get better. But Hall's ability to create pressure, I mean he had that big stop on the goal line. I think if I'm not mistaken, it was It was second down and then it set up the bootleg for Mateer that in turn was the turnover. And then when they scored, he was the guy that kind of stu that kind of stuffed the two point conversion, which was very doable on the yard and it was what a yard and a half out because of the false start penalty. But he was the guy that literally just manned up in the hole and and just knocked Avant off his feet. I mean, it's just a lot, a lot of good. I mean, and we always knew Jordan Hall could play at this potential, right? He's playing at like a five star type potential, in my opinion. That's scary when you start to add in, you know, Griffin, you start to add in Quatavius Johnson, you start to add in Valdean, you start to add in a lot of these elements that are really I mean, I think JJ Hanna is playing really well. I think PJ Dean is playing really well. I there's I could shout out defense for days. but and the last one I'll I'll I'll not take is De Melo Jones. And I think he needed a good game. He had a really good spring, he had a really good fall. came in, had a had a couple of rough goes at it the first few games and I think he was just I I think he just wasn't playing loose, I would call it. You know, going out there having fun. And if you look back, Kirby's coming out of the of the of the tunnel and he's just he mentions to Mello, go out there and have fun, right? 'Cause I think he's earned it. I think he's done a really good job in practice and I think he earned the right to go out there and have fun. And you can see his talent, you can see his elite speed, you can see his elite covering ability. the defense was actually crazy good. I s you know, four different Georgia defensive backs are capable of making plays. And that depth is gonna be, you know, definitely Georgia gets deeper into the SEC schedule. That depth is gonna be huge. You can't survive Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and the rest of the schedule with two or three guys. so that's huge. We need everybody and DeMello is is becoming a staple guy over there that you can rely on. I will add in Khalil Barnes as well. I mean, it it's very what you're seeing on third down right now is a is a lot. I'm not I'm not trying to bring names into it, but that star position this year is going to show you a lot of kickback in many ways. Khalil Barnes can flat out cover. And that hasn't been needed at the star position. And I think what one of the intimidating things was when he came to Georgia was hey, we like the star to get in there. And we like to have run support from the start. I think Clemson and other schools maybe didn't want to, you know, I I don't know. I don't know how he fit into that play. Maybe they didn't want him there and maybe it didn't intrigue him much, but he has been a he will be and has been a difference maker at the star. He can flat out cover. So I mean, like I said, I can go, you know, all day long and and possibly possibly should, but for the time being, I won't. Sorry, when you're riding solo, you got to get your swallow water and get back in there. So let's let's move over to offense real quick. couple of standouts that I want to talk about, not as much in depth as the defense, obviously, but really proud of Chauncey taking on not a lot of yards to really, you know, call for, but you know, I like what Chauncey did. with the with the time he had two rushing touchdown, nine carries, twenty six yards. The fumble obviously is kind of the lackluster moment. It was close to man. It was really close on the direct snap. And, you know, against Oklahoma, you know, I would say that defense, you know, the things we did wrong in some of those areas, you're only gonna see some of the same things coming at you. Nothing, I think at an elite level, but nothing that's gonna be above it, but definitely nothing that's gonna be below it. it's Alabama, you're gonna see some of the same stuff. I think they're, you know, as competitive on the line of scrimmage, they're as competitive in the secondary. And it's gonna be the same stuff. It's elite talent all over when you talk talking about Alabama as well as you know, Auburn, as well as Old Miss. you can't assume you're gonna get away with giving them short fields with things like that. However, I think ball security for Chauncey has been a positive, and I think that's just one of those times. where you gotta finish the play out. He was at the end of the of the t at the end of the pile. He got there. He really didn't just kind of see it through. And it sucks because that was part of a third quarter that a lot of us, going back to what I said earlier, a lot of us question. And so it it'd be it'd be r you know, if I didn't mention mention Gunner, I I don't think I would be giving him his due, you know, finished fourteen of twenty five, not Not the same performance out of Gunner. Obviously, we saw the first three games, a touchdown and an interception. first half has first half was excellent. I mean, ten of twelve, a hundred and three yards. it was really cool to see the explosive to Talon Taylor for thirty-five yards. Taylor, man, finally finished with a breakout game. he's coming around, man. There's there's some I mean, he's a guy along with Sakovy White help and that are trying to break into those roles to, you know, really demand more of the football. I mean, four catches, 110 yards and a touchdown. and, you know, I I think, you know, yes, second half was a little bit lackluster as far as the third quarter. And we're gonna talk about the third quarter, but I think for the most part, I think Gunner had was was in direct control of the game. We gave the offense some really good field position. And I think some of the things that you saw happen were more based off of where we were at versus the score and not where we were at versus if we were playing on time. Now, it's hard sometimes to just not be consistent with getting out there and running the and and running plates. I I do think we hit that a lot. We had a lot of long drives that didn't end with much from Mateir and and in Oklahoma and some that were quick where there was like, man, we just got off the field. Now we're back on the field. So it was a little wishy washy. It was hard to stay on time. It's about the only thing you know, excuse I could possibly give him. But I thought Gunnar for the most part was he looked good. I mean, I I don't think you can take away anything other than the fact that he was challenged in the third quarter and the fourth quarter to throw the ball in the tight windows. And for the most part, it was very intriguing to see him hit Talon Taylor again. now, the the elephant in the room, I will address this. A lot of people are gonna be like the tight ends, the tight ends, the tight ends. I I I get it. You know, you're like more more tight end targets. but it but I would tell you that a lot of those, you know, I think Ethan Barbour was was he he was targeted a couple times. I know Elias, I know everybody's like, man, let's get Elias in the game. But Elias is starting right now because he is probably the best t blocking tight end that we have. and so he likes to block. He likes contact. I think we, you know, a lot of people are like, man, are we do we just got lost and lucky to block? I I mean, I don't know the dynamic of that. I mean, I I I can tell you that I do feel like there's still more out there for the tight end room. We'll see. I mean, we did target Jaden Ridd time. It was a PI. That's the second time he's had a PI in spots where he can make a difference. He did get an end around one time. And so we're definitely trying to get him involved, but not to everybody's liking. I do understand that, right? Quick though, before we branch out into the end, let's talk about maybe what did happen in the third quarter, right? I think the biggest question was Georgia went up twenty-one, twenty-eight, zero. The third quarter happened. Georgia had zero first downs, two turnovers in that quarter, right? Think about that though. The defense is still playing well, but the offense couldn't sustain anything, right? So the defense is still playing well. Gunnar Stockton throws his first interception of the season on the Georgia's first offensive possession of the second half. Okay. So automatically we we've created a an event where Oklahoma now has a little bit of hope, right? I'm sure they went in the locker room and they're like, look, we gotta come out. We gotta have a game changing moment and they got it. Right. And they're sitting there going, biggest thing we got to do is maximize them. They ended up maximizing on it. Now, why they went for two, I have no idea, but whatever. they did maximize on it, and and you just can't give a team any even a team with just a heartbeat and a decent offense, they're gonna find their way in every once in a while, right? But, you know, Gunner Oklahoma turns it into a touchdown. Chauncey Bowens gets stripped next next possession. Chauncey gets stripped, right? Fourth down. Suddenly, Oklahoma has another short field. Fortunately, the defense comes right back, stops them. Oklahoma misses a 54 yarder. That's the difference in this game being uncomfortable and this game being like a blowout. Even though it really turned into a blowout, obviously allowing a late touchdown later on. The discussion question, I think, for that is is like, was the third quarter a warning sign or was it simply a bad quarter against a really good Oklahoma defense? I think it was a little bit of of both, in my opinion. I think I think Georgia hit a 10 minute spurt where they didn't play on time, right? They weren't they weren't moving, they weren't grooving. They were, you know, fumble, interception. It gets them out of rhythm. They're trying to find that. Hence the when I posted the video about run the ball, right? I'm not just saying it's it's also helped me to just line up and go, well, let's just pound the rock, right? And let's if it if if it gets us there, it gets us there. It's kind of like playing scared football. I'm not saying that, but I am saying we all know that the the run has opened up so much, especially for Gunnar Stockton and his abilities and how he likes to deliver the football. It it's opened so much for him in terms of how wide open those passing lanes are. it just to let you know, probably within 30 seconds after I posted that video about literally saying run the damn ball, Dwight Phillips gets the ball and runs 60 plus yards. And so I I I don't know, man. At the end of the day, like I'm not trying to be a you know, a sideline coach, but I am telling you that I know that the comfort level of where Georgia wants to be and where Gunner wants to be is he wants to make people pay off of committing too much to the run. Period. And I I'm thinking that a lot of offenses are centered around that. I don't it's not many offenses in the SEC nor the rest of college football that are just lining up and throwing the ball against you. And if they are, it might mean it's because they're it's their only form of offense they have. and the scouting report may say throw the ball directly at these guys because they have a terrible secondary. Okay, so let's talk about what Georgia did right. Okay. We're gonna talk about what Georgia did right, explosive plays, what has to get better, and then we're gonna do we're gonna do our our power rankings. But I think I think Georgia was able to create turnovers, obviously four Oklahoma turnovers. That was the plus. I think stopping the run made Mateer very much one dimensional, put the pressure a lot on him. explosive plays happened. We hit Taylon Taylor twice. I think those were incredible. Dwight Phyllis with a 54-yard TD run was an explosive. those plays matter, right? I think we finished. I think Georgia didn't completely fall apart after those third quarter blunders. They regrouped, scored 10 points in the fourth quarter to to to close it out. And I think when you look at those things, how important they are, because there are a lot of teams that are still struggling to be able to do that against not good teams. I you saw a lot of people. having a lot of teams having a lot of problems with teams that they should have been putting away on Saturday. And some of those teams let them hang around way too long and it ended up becoming a loss for them. And I'm just grateful that in a test, you know, more went right in this game than definitely went wrong. So it has to get better really quick, right? I think ball security has to get better. I think two two offensive turnovers against a team you're trying to beat for a championship. can't become a habit. obviously Oklahoma at the beginning of the year was a team we thought would be vying for an SEC championship, making a playoff run. And right now it would honestly be a miracle them to run the table and make it in now. However, I still think this team is good. I still think they have a lot to get better on offense with, but this defense is is definitely elite. I think route precision, I think we had some receivers and Gunner have some they were not on the same page. They were young receivers who Maybe we should have hooked instead of instead of went, or maybe should have went instead of hooked. but those little things, you know, they become interceptions against better I guess what I would say teams that are a little bit more in tune to I I think Oklahoma was a little bit defeated by some of those times, right? But you you you go against some defenses who are very hungry and in the game, those might be interceptions. I think third down offense, Georgia converted only three of twelve third downs. I think that was something that we did really well the first three games. And then we come into this one and it's something to watch. So the the ability to keep drives going, sustained drives is huge. Because if you don't get those plays, you know, I I can also quickly tell you that the score could have been lopsided if we don't get those big turnovers. I think consistency on the offense. I think Georgia had explosive plays, but the offense wasn't consistently moving the football on Saturday. six total yards is good enough. when your defense plays like they did, but eventually you're gonna you're gonna need more than that. You you really are. I mean in two weeks you're gonna need more than that. and the way they handle pressure, I think Oklahoma's defense showed that when Georgia gets pressured and the passing game gets disrupted, the offense can become a little bit stagnant. I said, but that's exactly what the next three weeks need to be prepared for. I mean, you're gonna get that. Even with Vanderbilt, you can't overlook Vanderbilt obviously, but when you're talking about teams like Vanderbilt, when you're talking about teams like Alabama and Auburn and then Florida. you're you're gonna have to be ready for that. There's gonna be adversity and you got to figure out how you're gonna come out on the other side the next three weeks. but you know, you got Vanderbilt next. We're not gonna preview them. We'll do that on Wednesday night. So looking forward to that and looking forward to seeing Jared Curtis come into town. We we always thought that the first game between the hedges for Jared Curtis would be in the red and black, but it's not. It's in the golden black and he'll be playing for Vanderbilt. And I'm sure there'll be a lot of fans there. And I'm sure there'll be some conversations in the back of our mind about, you know, should we let Jerry Curtis know what he's missing? You know, you know, you know they're they're always on the side. And so it's gonna make for an interesting weekend when Vanderbilt comes to town. you know, trying to clean up a lot of things, right? Ball security, route timing, third down efficiency, communication and continued depth and and young players meaningful snaps is huge. but I think overall as we close the books on Oklahoma, what what we can definitely say is is that a lot more went right for Georgia than went wrong. I think if you look at I think we're just gonna chalk up the third quarter as we needed some we needed to see some passes going into tight windows against a game that was already kind of settled. And we had the opportunity to allow Gunnar to throw against a really good secondary that you're gonna see s very similar in the next few weeks. And I think we did that. I mean, it was it was good to see Talon catch that ball during that third quarter. So we could honestly say too in the third quarter, a lot more went right. maybe than went wrong as well. So I think I did overreact. I'm sure fans overreact, but I think we all know that we're capable of running the football efficiently to set up the pass. So so yeah, let's let's head into we're gonna open up, let me get my notes here. And we're gonna do our power rankings for looking for For week five in the SEC, and then I'll have these posted. I'll also be doing a TikTok power ranking show later on this week. But without any further ado, let's hop right in. So lots of changes for me and in those 16, those top 16 power rankings for the SEC. I'm gonna go through and try to flash through these. I like to keep these recaps for around 45 minutes, and so that's kind of where we're at. At sixteen, no changes for me. I have Arkansas. I think yes, you beat Tulsa. I think they had to beat Tulsa, but I think this is a Tulsa team that has been a little bit wishy-washy. the defense still looked better at times, but the offense still is really a hot mess. So I think for the most part, I think it was it was a must win for Arkansas because I don't know if there's many more wins on their schedule going forward. Fifteen Man, this is a tough one 'cause I kinda had it tied out, but I have Vanderbilt at fifteen. I just think, you know, they had the the blessing of the win against NC State. they struggled against Auburn to really come up with any continuity. any complimentary football, running the football with the pass, the defense was less than stellar. And going up against team like Auburn, I think you have the opportunity to expose that they didn't. So I have Vanderbilt right there at fifteen. at 14 I have the South Carolina Game Cox, man man. the whole Dylan Stewart thing and the the the walking off the field and I I I think I'm even let me pull it up here. I think I even had some breaking news earlier that on Dylan Stewart, I forget what it said. Of course, when you pull stuff up, you immediately lose it sometimes. Yeah. So I don't have it. I'm wondering if that was telling me that he was being I know he's I know he's suspended indefinitely, but I got the game cox at 14. I just think, man, a lot of talent there, but they just can't get it together, man. Very hard to watch Lenore Sellers do some of the same things that he's done in the past. Is it really the offensive line this year? I don't know. They have the receivers. The defense looks overwhelmed. The secondary looks like it just hasn't seen a football fly in their direction at all in their career. And so really tough to watch right now with South Carolina. And I'm concerned that any day Could be the day for Beamer. 14 for me. I have this was a toughie. but I think for fourteen for me is going to be. 14 is going to be Oklahoma for me. I think I'm dropping them down. I like the defense. The defense sh definitely shouldn't get the 14, 14 call, but I think the offense should. And this is a team that's just gonna have to get something figured out on offense. Number one, I would think it's hard to blame Ben Arbuckle when a lot of these plays, John Mateer just has to do a better job of taking what the offense has given him. But I I think for I think for furthermore, that's kind of where we stand. Out of that fourteen I got Oklahoma. Left anybody out. I feel like 16, 15 was Vanderbilt. 14 was I'm sorry. 14 was South Carolina. 13 was Oklahoma. Sorry. 12, I got Texas AM. I I I've man, it I feel duped by Texas AM. I I think the offense, maybe they shouldn't have passed on Buster Faulkner. I'm hearing that Buster Faulkner was wanting to or or they wanted Buster Faulkner and and At Texas A and and Florida ended up with him. Man, I bet they're regretting that. Holliman Wiggins just doesn't seem like the answer there. just not good. And the defense allowing those many points. I I think we've been duped a little bit on Texas A and eleven for me. I have the Auburn Tigers. Tough for Auburn, man, 'cause it's like Vanderbilt. I feel like you should have dominated that game, especially just from a defensive. that, you know, DJ Dirk in this defense is pretty decently back. still trying to figure out what's going on with the offense, but I feel solid about I mean not it looked you know, it looked impressive in in some parts against Florida, but you know, did not look nearly as good against struggling, you know, Vanderbilt. so I have Auburn at eleven. Ten I have Missouri. Missouri nearly pulled off the win against Mississippi State, but you know, nice of win over Kansas. secondary for Missouri is still very struggle struggle bus and they're just gonna get thrown on them all year and I I I feel like May maybe you get Ahmad Hardy back and you can you can get some I mean, even though balance is still there, I like what I see from the run game, but a healthy Ahmad Hardy changes things a lot. But for now, I mean I don't think Missouri's a dumpster fire by any means, but I think they have some things they can work on. Still three and one, just and one in the SEC. number nine for me, I got the Kentucky Wildcats. you know, they they played with their food a little bit against South Alabama for the most part. Kentucky the tests are still to come. Now we're looking at Kentucky going into Texas AM, beating Texas AM, but it's Texas AM a fluke. I I like I like him at nine. I like Will Stein and Kentucky at nine. at eight. I'm gonna drop Tennessee to eight. I I feel like Tennessee dropped off a little bit of my boat. Defense looked good, but I think Faison Brandon was exposed a little bit when he had to stand in the pocket and make some and some throws and was not allowed to run around and make things happen. I think he struggled, and I think that's something. That's part of it the game that he's gonna have to work on as a young quarterback is learning what he can take and learning what he's gonna give as far as the run. And I feel like it's bad enough that it drops them to eight seven. I have I I I can't put Ole Miss above L S U. Some people have him still, but I dropped Ole Miss to seven. and and here's my thing, like it it's really tough, you know, you get blown out on the road, fifty two twenty eight by Florida. you cannot forget, you know LSU, you know, loses to, you know, game of the year type vibes for Hottie Toddyville. And they did they did what everybody thought they would do. They went into the swamp and they they had a let up, right? Secondary looked awful at times. you know Keywon Lacey. The run games definitely struggled. defensive line looked, yeah, the defense, if Pete Golding needs to answer about this defense, especially after that performance, because he's a defensive guy. And they l they allowed him, he allowed himself to spend a lot more money on the defense than he ever has. So for time's sake, Ole Miss is safely there. at seven, six, I got LSU. I just think when you look at LSU and you look at Mississippi State, the loss means a lot to me, right? I I just it's hard to not give Mississippi State the nod being four and having a couple of really good victories going up to Minnesota. Getting that win on the road and last week against Missouri. we'll see what it'll all pin out this weekend because Missouri has to play Alabama. But for the time being, I I feel really good about about LSU being right there. lot of injuries for LSU right now. A lot of injuries, and it's coming into a really tough part of the schedule for them this year. So fifth, I have Mississippi State four and for the first time in a long time. I can't tell you. this defense looks I I mean it's it's You know, it it showed a little bit in the secondary and it showed some blunders, but man, you gotta you gotta think Zach Arnett has his defense going in the right direction. obviously Camario Taylor in this offense is is just doing what Jeff Levy is capable of doing with a good quarterback and good receivers. this is an impressive, impressive offense, an impressive, impressive team. A a lot d a lot will come out this weekend when we see how they look against Alabama. Really key game this weekend, Minnesota sorry, Mississippi State and Alabama. Speaking of Alabama, I got him at four. just been consistent. Keelan Russell gets better. I really haven't seen the run game and the offensive line have to be exposed to take away parts of this offense. Defense has been as advertised, really, really good. but Tess comes in this weekend against a high-powered offense like Mississippi State. But I have Alabama at four. At three, I moved the Florida Gators all the way up to three. I like what Florida's doing. Buster Faulkner is I mean, we knew from the time Buster Faulkner was at Georgia, we knew he was an incredible play caller. Proud to see him doing really well at Florida. I think the biggest thing with Florida this year is you're gonna have to score with them. I think their defense is still susceptible in the secondary in the back half, and I think they I think the defense is still to be a little bit concerned, but I think the offense is definitely clicking on all four cylinders. Jaden Baugh, I think, is the probably the best running back in the nation right now. and that's that's a Hot take, I think he's I think he should be leading the Heisman race right now. Jaden Baugh right now is the best running back in college football. You heard it here first. second, I have the Texas Longhorns. I think there were parts they still struggle with to put Tennessee away. I think they get out to a fast start. They allowed, I mean, they had some crazy number of sacks, like 10 sacks on Saturday, but just couldn't put Tennessee away. I mean, the fact that they're still throwing a ball into the end zone at the end of the game to possibly win it. is just something that's gonna haunt them if they don't put these games away. and you gotta you gotta know Texas has kind of been on that little edge of going if they don't put these games away, there's teams they're gonna play here in the here here in the next few weeks that are that are going to take advantage if you don't put them away. But I got Texas, the offense looked pretty good the first half, the defense, I mean Colin Simmons, five sacks, nuts. I mean, I don't know if it shows how good the defense from Texas is under Will Muschamp or how bad the offensive line I mean, this is an offensive line from Texas that brings back a lot of seniors, a lot of returning starters. And so see that happen is is puzzling from Tennessee. And then first I have Georgia, non-biased pick, but I think Georgia right now is really hitting on all cylinders. defense is incredible, doing a really great job. I mean, fast everywhere, all over the place, tackling very well. winning turnover battles. The offense is rushing the ball really well right now. The offensive line is playing well. We're seeing some receivers start to emerge. Gunnar Stockton is doing what Gunnar Stockton. Gunnar Stockton does. I don't know if I said that right, but so I think Georgia is just performing at a high level. I even think some of the polls, AP and other things like that, SEC power rankings from other people like ESPN are are showing that. If they're if ju if you're Georgia, you don't want that, right? but but yeah, so we put Oklahoma to bed and we move on to Vanderbilt. We will preview everything on Wednesday night. I'll have Fish. I might have Rich Rich with us. We're going to do our normal weekly show where we will we will look at Vanderbilt. We'll talk all things Vanderbilt.
