- 0:00Speaker 1: Have you ever seen that movie? Oh? Yeah, it's terrible.
- 0:03Speaker 1: I don't enjoy it. It's terrible. I read the book.
- 0:07Speaker 1: The book has said it's called Skipping Christmas, and then
- 0:11Speaker 1: they made the movie, and I feel like changing the
- 0:13Speaker 1: title to Christmas with the Cranks just tells you everything
- 0:16Speaker 1: you need to know about the movie. Welcome to Girls
- 0:32Speaker 1: Gone Hallmark, a Homemark review podcast. I'm Megan and I'm

- 1:16Speaker 1: twenty twenty four. Okay, so tell your friends, guys. I'm
- 1:19Speaker 1: wondering if people are like, uh, another Facebook group. Actually,
- 1:23Speaker 1: I feel like that Facebook group over there. They are invested,
- 1:27Speaker 1: they watch all the movies. It's a really high quality
- 1:30Speaker 1: Facebook group. It's not just like posting memes. People say
- 1:34Speaker 1: thoughtful things. What I love about this group too, is
- 1:38Speaker 1: last weekend there was two Hallmark movies, Yes, a Friday
- 1:41Speaker 1: and a Saturday. We chose to watch one here to
- 1:44Speaker 1: review for the podcast. Yes. What I love is that
- 1:47Speaker 1: the group is talking about the other movie amongst themselves
- 1:50Speaker 1: love it And I was like, I think I have
- 1:52Speaker 1: to watch that movie now. I had written it off
- 1:56Speaker 1: and I'm not going to say what movie it is.
- 1:58Speaker 1: But join the Facebook group you'll find out what talking about.
- 2:03Speaker 1: We're gonna just jump right into Pumpkin Pie Wars. Here's
- 2:05Speaker 1: your synopsis. Okay, it's kind of a long one. I
- 2:08Speaker 1: pulled it from Hallmark. Are you ready? Ten years ago,
- 2:13Speaker 1: Fay and Lydia each opened their own bakeries after a
- 2:16Speaker 1: personal and professional fallout during a local pumpkin pie contest.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Now their children, Casey and Sam are set to carry
- 2:26Speaker 1: out the rivalry as they go head to head in
- 2:30Speaker 1: the same contest. The only problem for these two people
- 2:33Speaker 1: are the only problem for these two people who are
- 2:37Speaker 1: supposed to hate each other, they still start to fall
- 2:39Speaker 1: in love. Oh my gosh, it is a complicated synopsis
- 2:43Speaker 1: for a store that is a little bit complicated. You
- 2:47Speaker 1: think it's complicated. It had a lot of moving part. Okay. Fair.
- 2:51Speaker 1: This movie originally premiered on October fifteenth, twenty sixteen. Have
- 2:58Speaker 1: you seen this movie before? Never? No? I you know,
- 3:02Speaker 1: I know your husband likes to watch the fall movies.
- 3:04Speaker 1: He watched Us with me last night. Had he seen
- 3:07Speaker 1: it before? No? Did he enjoy it? No? Really, I'm
- 3:14Speaker 1: surprised by that because I think when I think about
- 3:17Speaker 1: your husband, I think that he likes the Hallmark movies
- 3:21Speaker 1: of your He does. He had some complaints. Oh, are
- 3:25Speaker 1: you willing to share them? Sure? Okay. This movie stars
- 3:29Speaker 1: Julie Gonzalo. She plays Casey. She has forty eight acting credits,
- 3:33Speaker 1: including the upcoming three bed two bath one Ghost, which
- 3:37Speaker 1: I cannot wait to watch me too. I think it
- 3:39Speaker 1: looks fan freakantastic. She was also recently in Cut Color Murder.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Jingle Bell Bride flipped that romance and Falling for Vermont,
- 3:50Speaker 1: and I would like to add a side note here.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Several listeners have DMed us about not reviewing Falling for
- 3:58Speaker 1: Vermont and our favorite line up here. Yes, And I honestly,
- 4:03Speaker 1: I think the only reason we didn't choose that one
- 4:06Speaker 1: is because they both starred Julie Gonzalo and we're like, oh,
- 4:10Speaker 1: let's just pick this one. Oh. They DMed us asking
- 4:14Speaker 1: like why we were not not to do it? But
- 4:16Speaker 1: they wanted. They were like, why are you doing valling
- 4:19Speaker 1: for for months? Such a good movie. There's only so
- 4:22Speaker 1: many weeks in September and October, y'all? Maybe next year,
- 4:25Speaker 1: maybe next year. Jingle Bell Bride has the distinction of
- 4:28Speaker 1: being the very first review ever done for Girls Gone.
- 4:30Speaker 1: I was trying to remember if that was it? You
- 4:33Speaker 1: read my notes? It was there. Megan thinks she's funny
- 4:37Speaker 1: with the backstory here that she did the notes for
- 4:40Speaker 1: this movie like a week ago and I had forgotten
- 4:42Speaker 1: and did my own. I shared them with her and
- 4:46Speaker 1: so old. I'm sorry. I also this, can I add this?
- 4:52Speaker 1: Julie Gonzalo also starred in A Cinderella Story from two
- 4:57Speaker 1: thousand and four, A movie I really like? Is that
- 4:59Speaker 1: a Lizzy McGuire Cinderella Story? Oh? Chad Michael Murray And yeah,
- 5:05Speaker 1: I guess it is Lizy McGuire what's her real name,
- 5:07Speaker 1: Hillary da Yes, yes, I love that movie. I've never
- 5:11Speaker 1: seen it. What you should watch it? Okay? I like it. Also,
- 5:14Speaker 1: she was in a movie that cemented my hate for
- 5:20Speaker 1: Christmas movies. Okay, and it is called Christmas with the Cranks.
- 5:25Speaker 1: I saw it in the movie theater I remember a City.
- 5:31Speaker 1: This was from two thousand and four to two, and
- 5:33Speaker 1: I was like, ugh, I hate this movie. I hate Christmas.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Like what am I doing here? Have you ever seen
- 5:40Speaker 1: that movie? Oh? Yeah, it's have you ever seen that movie? Oh? Yeah,
- 5:45Speaker 1: it's terrible. I don't enjoy it. It's terrible. I read
- 5:49Speaker 1: the book. The book has said it's called Skipping Christmas,
- 5:53Speaker 1: and then they made the movie, and I feel like
- 5:55Speaker 1: changing the title to Christmas with the Cranks just tells
- 5:58Speaker 1: you everything you need to know about the movie. She
- 6:01Speaker 1: plays the daughter of Tim Allen and Jamie Lee Curtis
- 6:04Speaker 1: on this movie. Yeah. Anyway, Tim Allen, why are you
- 6:07Speaker 1: doing a Christmas movie outside of the Santa Claus right?
- 6:10Speaker 1: That should be in your contract? I okay? Moving on.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Rico Aragon formerly known as Eric Aragon, plays Sam. He
- 6:19Speaker 1: has thirty four acting credits. But it looks like this
- 6:21Speaker 1: movie was his last role for Homemark. Have you seen
- 6:24Speaker 1: a recent photo of this man? It looks so different.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Wowie Zowie super alert, Wowie Zowie alert. Yes, I saw
- 6:32Speaker 1: it on his IMDb. Oh my gosh. I went through
- 6:35Speaker 1: his Instagram asterday like a freaking stalker. He has a
- 6:38Speaker 1: beautiful family, and he is on the right side of things,
- 6:42Speaker 1: if you know what I mean. No, the left side
- 6:45Speaker 1: of things. He's on the left side of things, if
- 6:47Speaker 1: you know what I mean. Smoking hot. This movie was
- 6:50Speaker 1: written by Nina Weinman. She has thirty one writing credits,
- 6:54Speaker 1: including the recent nap ever After Just One Kiss, which
- 6:57Speaker 1: reminded me how much I love that movie, and also
- 7:01Speaker 1: Flipped That Romance, which also starred Julie Gonzala and Tyler Hines.
- 7:05Speaker 1: I think right, I've never seen Flip That Romance. Oh boy.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Steven Rmunro directed. He has fifty six other directing credits,
- 7:13Speaker 1: including Hallmarks, Caribbean, Summer, A Winter Getaway, and USS Christmas.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Michelle Scarabelli she plays Casey's mom, Fay and Jennifer Juniper
- 7:25Speaker 1: and Jelly plays Sam's mom, Lydia. I just thought they
- 7:28Speaker 1: needed to be noted. I didn't. I didn't look up
- 7:31Speaker 1: there specific did you for this movie? And look, that's
- 7:34Speaker 1: something else about them we'll discuss later. Oh okay. The
- 7:38Speaker 1: IMD readings for this movie are a six point six
- 7:40Speaker 1: out of ten average. I read a number of the reviews,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and I'm going to tell you right now, I was
- 7:46Speaker 1: surprised by some of the glowing reviews this movie received,
- 7:50Speaker 1: and I may made me feel like Pickens must have
- 7:52Speaker 1: been slim in twenty sixteen. Oh maybe are you ready
- 7:57Speaker 1: for first impression? Are you telling me you didn't like
- 7:59Speaker 1: this movie? Oh my god, what is your first impression?
- 8:02Speaker 1: I want to make some pumpkin bread. Oh my gosh,
- 8:05Speaker 1: Megan made some bomb banana bread when I was over
- 8:09Speaker 1: here again today. I just ran out of time this morning.
- 8:13Speaker 1: And then I was last night watching this. I'm like,
- 8:14Speaker 1: maybe I'll make pumpkin bread instead, with that strusel that
- 8:19Speaker 1: you put on top. You want the strusel on the
- 8:21Speaker 1: pumpkin bread? Oh so good, so good. My first impression
- 8:25Speaker 1: is please put me out of my misery. If I
- 8:28Speaker 1: ever act like Fai or Lydia for ten years, ten years,
- 8:32Speaker 1: I was like, what a go? Well? I was trying
- 8:35Speaker 1: to think. I was like, okay, two women who are
- 8:36Speaker 1: like competing against each other. I was like, can I
- 8:39Speaker 1: apply this to my life at I'll like mean you?
- 8:41Speaker 1: And I was like, well no, because we're not like
- 8:43Speaker 1: technically competing against each other here, But like, but if
- 8:46Speaker 1: you launched your own Hallmark podcast, Like, how long are
- 8:49Speaker 1: you going to be mad? How long have we launched
- 8:51Speaker 1: competing podcasts? How long are you doing that about that?
- 8:54Speaker 1: Not very not very long? Like we run into each
- 8:56Speaker 1: other on the streets, is and gonna be like oh
- 8:58Speaker 1: you no, No, if I saw you in Target, I
- 9:01Speaker 1: would turn and walk the other way. That's how I
- 9:02Speaker 1: handle it. Why haven't you ever run into someone that
- 9:05Speaker 1: you don't want to see and you turn and walk
- 9:08Speaker 1: the other way? Yes, always, I'd probably do that. I
- 9:10Speaker 1: don't like to make small chit chat with people I
- 9:12Speaker 1: see in the streets, unless unless you're a listener of
- 9:16Speaker 1: the podcast. Please come up, Oh absolutely anytime, talk your
- 9:19Speaker 1: ear off anytime. Yeah. Look, I'm so conflict of verse
- 9:23Speaker 1: that I would just be like I would, I just
- 9:25Speaker 1: don't hold it onto it for that long. Yeah. Yeah,
- 9:28Speaker 1: but these women were miserable, like no, please, somebody like
- 9:35Speaker 1: if I ever acted that way? Right? Oh gross, Well
- 9:39Speaker 1: I'm going to answer your question right now. Okay. I
- 9:43Speaker 1: struggled to come up with things that I liked about
- 9:46Speaker 1: this movie because watching it, it just felt like background noise. Hmm.
- 9:52Speaker 1: Now let me let me set the scene for you,
- 9:54Speaker 1: just so everyone's really clear. Yesterday I watched two Hallmark movies.
- 9:58Speaker 1: In the morning. I watched Guide Emily. I watched it
- 10:01Speaker 1: on my phone because I started watching it at five
- 10:03Speaker 1: thirty AM and I didn't want to turn the television
- 10:04Speaker 1: to wake at my family and I was wrapped, like
- 10:08Speaker 1: the entire time, fully engaged with that movie. Last night,
- 10:11Speaker 1: my husband and I sat down to watch Pumpkin Pie Wars,
- 10:14Speaker 1: and I will be honest, sometimes I watch these movies
- 10:17Speaker 1: and I got a lot of stuff going on, like
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm cleaning the kitchen. No, we were on the couch,
- 10:22Speaker 1: the dog was asleep. It was a date night, we
- 10:24Speaker 1: were hanging out, had a snack. I was in the
- 10:27Speaker 1: right mood and in the right mood, but the wrong movie. Yes, wow,
- 10:34Speaker 1: So did you like anything about it? I did. I
- 10:36Speaker 1: loved all the baked goods. I thought that was really
- 10:39Speaker 1: fun to watch. Okay, And as much as I thought
- 10:43Speaker 1: the feud was overblown, I did kind of like the
- 10:46Speaker 1: way they made it trickle down to affect the family,
- 10:49Speaker 1: especially like the dad, the dads, the puff Dads and
- 10:52Speaker 1: their secret golfing outings. I enjoyed that. That's all. Wow, Okay,
- 11:00Speaker 1: well I have a big list, let's hear him. This
- 11:04Speaker 1: movie was one all fall vibes. Yes, and we don't
- 11:08Speaker 1: get a ton of fall themed movies, so I was
- 11:11Speaker 1: here for it. Yes, we got leaves, pumpkins, fall colors,
- 11:15Speaker 1: bake goods, carnivals like so pleasingly esthetically those words don't
- 11:22Speaker 1: go together. It's gotta flip esthetically pleasing. Thank you. It
- 11:26Speaker 1: just made me yearn for a fall festival. Yeah. I
- 11:29Speaker 1: was like, please, if there are any listeners in the
- 11:32Speaker 1: southern California area and there's like a great fall festival,
- 11:37Speaker 1: I need to know what it is because I want
- 11:38Speaker 1: to go to it. I just want like those feelings,
- 11:42Speaker 1: and this movie did that for me. I really enjoyed
- 11:47Speaker 1: Julie Gonzalo. Loved her. I agree, she was the absolute
- 11:51Speaker 1: highlight of this movie. I just learned that she and
- 11:54Speaker 1: Chris McNally are a real life couple. What and they
- 11:57Speaker 1: just had a baby. Did not know that? And both
- 12:01Speaker 1: of them are in three bed, two bath Oh, I'm
- 12:04Speaker 1: even more excited about that movie. Yes, I didn't know
- 12:06Speaker 1: that they were together. I just somebody came in the
- 12:10Speaker 1: DMS the other day and was like, hey, did you
- 12:12Speaker 1: know that love it? I was like, awesome, She's not
- 12:17Speaker 1: in nearly enough Hamewark movies for me. I didn't see
- 12:22Speaker 1: Color Cut whatever it was called Color Cut Murder. That's
- 12:26Speaker 1: from like this year, I believe, maybe maybe last year. Really,
- 12:32Speaker 1: I don't know. Can you look it up? Yeah? Keep
- 12:34Speaker 1: telling me. And what else you liked? All right? Rico's
- 12:37Speaker 1: lash Eric? I think he's so good looking. I already
- 12:41Speaker 1: established that. I really enjoyed them together as a pair.
- 12:44Speaker 1: I thought they what is that phase? I thought they
- 12:49Speaker 1: truly cared for each other. It was totally believable. Now
- 12:54Speaker 1: now the ANIMI fu lover Trope. I did I think
- 13:00Speaker 1: they leaned too heavily into it. I thought Nina wrote
- 13:04Speaker 1: a really nice job and the script of of making
- 13:08Speaker 1: these characters like think they had to like not like
- 13:11Speaker 1: each other. But then they were adults enough to realize
- 13:15Speaker 1: that they could have a relationship even though their families
- 13:18Speaker 1: didn't get along. I agree with you there. I have
- 13:23Speaker 1: been complaining a lot about this enemy's delivers nonsense and
- 13:26Speaker 1: it goes too hard, and I think you're exactly right.
- 13:28Speaker 1: They knew they weren't supposed to be friends, and they
- 13:30Speaker 1: bantered a little bit. I thought it was very chea
- 13:33Speaker 1: mean spirit. Yes, agree with you, one hundred percent cut
- 13:36Speaker 1: Color Murderers from twenty twenty two. Okay, thank you. Yeah.
- 13:39Speaker 1: I thought their like enemy portion of the movie was
- 13:43Speaker 1: very like, Okay, we're gonna play along with like we
- 13:47Speaker 1: are not supposed to get along with each other by here. Okay, yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 1: I agree with that. But you didn't like them together
- 13:53Speaker 1: as a couple. I thought he was so caring, like
- 13:57Speaker 1: they both like. It was a little transactional with the
- 14:00Speaker 1: like I can help you with your budget. Was it
- 14:03Speaker 1: a budget? No business plan? Oh? Business plan? I can
- 14:07Speaker 1: help you with your business plan. You can help me, bake.
- 14:12Speaker 1: I liked that. I thought Julie Gonzalo was a significantly
- 14:19Speaker 1: stronger actor than Rico Aragon. Oh okay, still hot. I
- 14:27Speaker 1: thought he was very sweet. I did like that they
- 14:31Speaker 1: helped each other out. Okay, all right, we mentioned this earlier.
- 14:35Speaker 1: I liked the dads and their relationship. I thought that
- 14:39Speaker 1: was very sweet. I enjoyed the twist at the end,
- 14:44Speaker 1: I wasn't sure how they were gonna wrap it up
- 14:46Speaker 1: because one of them needed to lose. Yeah, when she
- 14:48Speaker 1: went into the bakery and like goes to the bathroom
- 14:51Speaker 1: and she's like, oh, just kidding, I gotta go. Did
- 14:52Speaker 1: you think something was up with that lathy? I felt
- 14:55Speaker 1: bad for that lady because she had been like she
- 14:58Speaker 1: had just told Casey like I'm lonely or something like that,
- 15:04Speaker 1: like she was missing her friend Fay because fe wasn't
- 15:09Speaker 1: in the bakery that day. I don't know. I felt
- 15:11Speaker 1: bad for her, and I thought, well, it's just some
- 15:13Speaker 1: side storyline. I didn't even put the two and two
- 15:16Speaker 1: together that this lady was gonna steal some recipe. I
- 15:18Speaker 1: knew something was it, but I didn't know what she
- 15:20Speaker 1: had done when she like went to the bathroom and
- 15:21Speaker 1: came back and she leaves a lot her scone. Yeah.
- 15:24Speaker 1: You know, when things happen in movies that don't seem relevant,
- 15:27Speaker 1: you just let it go. Yeah, that's that's how I felt.
- 15:29Speaker 1: But I did like that they threw in this like
- 15:32Speaker 1: third party disruption because there would have been consequences to
- 15:38Speaker 1: one of them losing. Yeah, So my husband and I
- 15:40Speaker 1: were watching it and he kept like guessing, Like there
- 15:42Speaker 1: was a moment where she's on the ladder and he's like, Oh,
- 15:45Speaker 1: she's gonna fall and he's gonna catch her and a
- 15:47Speaker 1: bird she falls, and yeah, I hate that stuff. And
- 15:49Speaker 1: so I was like, Hey, what do you think the
- 15:50Speaker 1: conflict is going to be? Because I was like, oh,
- 15:52Speaker 1: I think you know, like the mothers are going to
- 15:55Speaker 1: find out and then they're gonna work to keep them apart.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I thought the way they made that conflict work was nice.
- 16:02Speaker 1: That's great writing on Nino Weinman's part. I agree. So
- 16:07Speaker 1: while I didn't love Fee and Lydia, I did appreciate
- 16:11Speaker 1: the conversation they finally have at the end where they
- 16:13Speaker 1: like layl their cards on the table they tell each
- 16:16Speaker 1: other how they fell and how it got messy, and like,
- 16:19Speaker 1: prior to seeing this scene, like I hate a woman
- 16:23Speaker 1: on woman storyline, I remember you and I went to
- 16:26Speaker 1: a conference a long time ago and I was like,
- 16:27Speaker 1: all boats rise if we help each other, right, And
- 16:31Speaker 1: I hate to see like women pitted against each other.
- 16:35Speaker 1: I just can't stand it. I'm like, if anybody saw
- 16:39Speaker 1: the Barbie movie this summer, like we had enough shit
- 16:42Speaker 1: women go through working again like stop. Sure. So anyway,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I was glad that they had this meeting of minds. Yeah,
- 16:49Speaker 1: so that made me happy. Finally, I love the Kelsey
- 16:52Speaker 1: Valerini song at the beginning. Yeah, it's called Peter Pan.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Not sure how it's relevant to this movie though, because
- 16:58Speaker 1: like that song Peter Pan, it was like about a
- 17:01Speaker 1: dude who doesn't grow up. You right, has nothing to
- 17:03Speaker 1: do with this movie. No, just kind of set the
- 17:06Speaker 1: scene with the vibe of the song. But sure the
- 17:08Speaker 1: lyrics don't you ready to talk what you wished? For? Sure? Look,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I refuse to believe the daughter of a baker is
- 17:14Speaker 1: this inept in the kitchen? Does how to turn the
- 17:16Speaker 1: mixer on? Does not to turn it on? Twelve from
- 17:19Speaker 1: one to twelve? Come on? You know in that whole scene,
- 17:23Speaker 1: the mom was like, I said mix, not stir, And
- 17:27Speaker 1: I was like, hmm, yeah, that's new news to me.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Like if I'm making not from scratch, but like a
- 17:34Speaker 1: box of brownies and it says mix, I'm still stirring
- 17:37Speaker 1: it with like a spoon. I'm not getting the mixer
- 17:39Speaker 1: out to mix the brownies. Yeah, I mean, I don't
- 17:42Speaker 1: think you would ever use a mix with her brownie
- 17:43Speaker 1: so is that honest, real baking terminology? Then I don't know, baker, Yes,
- 17:50Speaker 1: please send us your emails jump into our Facebook group.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Thought that was so weird. I wanted more heat. We
- 17:58Speaker 1: had heat in the kitchen. Enough between the stars. I agree,
- 18:03Speaker 1: I agree. Like I said earlier, I thought that they
- 18:06Speaker 1: were a little bit transactional. I just I thought they
- 18:09Speaker 1: were like sweet together. There was no heat though. Agree. Okay,
- 18:14Speaker 1: is that it? That's all you wish for? Yeah? Okay.
- 18:17Speaker 1: So Fay and Lydia were so over the top in
- 18:20Speaker 1: this movie with their hatred for each other, Like why
- 18:24Speaker 1: are you living like that, like with so much hate
- 18:26Speaker 1: in your heart? Yes, forgiveness is for you, not for
- 18:30Speaker 1: the other person. That's what a therapist will tell you.
- 18:33Speaker 1: And then I just thought they were so unlikable. For example,
- 18:37Speaker 1: Lydia was so incredibly unsupportive of her son Sam's ambition. Yes,
- 18:43Speaker 1: like the dude went to Locord on Blue. I don't know,
- 18:47Speaker 1: I don't know if they actually even mentioned it, but
- 18:49Speaker 1: he went away to learn how to be a chef. Yah,
- 18:52Speaker 1: and now he's just gonna come back and work in
- 18:54Speaker 1: like the family bakery. And she says to him, like
- 18:58Speaker 1: this bakery is your leg I'm like, no, it's not. Parents.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Don't do that to your children. Yeah, let them have
- 19:06Speaker 1: their own lives. Yes, And then they put so much
- 19:12Speaker 1: pressure on Casey to basically save the dwindling business. She's like,
- 19:17Speaker 1: well you're now like they even said the face of
- 19:21Speaker 1: the bakery. Like, so she's out at the hotels trying
- 19:24Speaker 1: to get like more business for her. M I'm like,
- 19:27Speaker 1: the face of the bakery. Doesn't she do the books
- 19:30Speaker 1: for she went to Wharton and is doing the freaking
- 19:33Speaker 1: bookkeeping for this bakery now, right, But now she's transitioning
- 19:38Speaker 1: into like being the face, like she's the baker of
- 19:40Speaker 1: the bakery now, yeah, make it make sense for me.
- 19:43Speaker 1: I can't. To me, a person who goes to Wharton
- 19:47Speaker 1: and has like a business degree, she'd be making like
- 19:51Speaker 1: real dollars somewhere, right. I didn't like this part of
- 19:55Speaker 1: the maybe about that, yeah, because she says like, oh,
- 19:57Speaker 1: I own a bakery. So for some reason she like
- 19:59Speaker 1: co owns this bakery with her mother, like that was
- 20:02Speaker 1: time to come home and run the family business. I
- 20:04Speaker 1: don't get it. You didn't go to business school to
- 20:06Speaker 1: be able to do that? No, No, I've got did
- 20:09Speaker 1: you see that. Okay, I'm ready for it. Okay, I
- 20:11Speaker 1: have a fewtube but go ahead. One is according to IMDb,
- 20:15Speaker 1: the fields in the opening shot are full of CGI pumpkins.
- 20:18Speaker 1: If you pause. This is from IMDb. Pausing the action
- 20:23Speaker 1: reveals that there are only a handful of pumpkin images
- 20:25Speaker 1: that have been copy and pasted over and over made
- 20:27Speaker 1: to look different by flipping, resizing, and mirroring. In many spots,
- 20:31Speaker 1: several of an identical image or even bunched together, with
- 20:33Speaker 1: no effort made to differentiate between them. How quick is
- 20:36Speaker 1: this is the opening scene? Though? Like? Are they just
- 20:39Speaker 1: seconds fast? Like like panning over a field of pumpkins?
- 20:43Speaker 1: But I read this before I watched the movie, and
- 20:45Speaker 1: I was like it was a little rough. Oh, I'm
- 20:48Speaker 1: gonna have to go back and see that. Sam is
- 20:50Speaker 1: teaching Casey to bake and they're in the bakery and
- 20:53Speaker 1: they've just mixed something and she's like, yeah, I need
- 20:56Speaker 1: to call it a night, and they take off their aprons.
- 20:58Speaker 1: They hang them up literally batter in her mixing bowl.
- 21:02Speaker 1: All of the ingredients, including butter, are just on the counter.
- 21:05Speaker 1: They hang up the aprons and they leave. Why that
- 21:08Speaker 1: doesn't make any sense? They didn't bake anything, they didn't
- 21:11Speaker 1: clean up. They leave batter full of ingredients that are
- 21:13Speaker 1: gonna go bad on the counter. Yeah, Like I imagine
- 21:17Speaker 1: like the bakers who arrive at four am tomorrow morning
- 21:19Speaker 1: are gonna be like, what the hell happened. There's another scene.
- 21:22Speaker 1: There's a moment when they stay overnight in the bakery
- 21:24Speaker 1: and they're coming outside. It's light. People are on the
- 21:27Speaker 1: streets like they're running into their dad's coming back from golfing.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Which what time is it? Some people golf at like
- 21:32Speaker 1: early tea times, but earlier than six. No, it takes
- 21:35Speaker 1: three hours to No, it has to be at least
- 21:37Speaker 1: nine am at that point, doesn't make sense. But they're leaving,
- 21:40Speaker 1: let's say at six am, as you mentioned, someone would
- 21:44Speaker 1: have had to come in and do all of the
- 21:45Speaker 1: overnight baking and would have caught them in the bakery
- 21:48Speaker 1: in the first round of the bake off, not in
- 21:51Speaker 1: the very beginning, but with Sam and Casey baking, they bake.
- 21:55Speaker 1: They all bake bread. They have one hour. It takes
- 21:59Speaker 1: a full hour for a loaf of bread like that
- 22:01Speaker 1: to bake. Okay, they have one hour start to finish.
- 22:04Speaker 1: You cannot mix the bread, Get it in the oven,
- 22:07Speaker 1: get it cool enough to slice. In one hour, it's
- 22:09Speaker 1: gonna be raw in the middle. Yes, they should have
- 22:11Speaker 1: made muffins or mini loaves or something that would take
- 22:13Speaker 1: like twenty minutes. You still need a lot of cooling
- 22:16Speaker 1: time for something like that. I gotta say, I don't
- 22:19Speaker 1: ever recall seeing an oven at the bake off. No,
- 22:21Speaker 1: they did. They had those big They had oven like
- 22:24Speaker 1: double door ovens behind them, which I thought was how
- 22:28Speaker 1: did they get them there? They were like industrial ovens,
- 22:30Speaker 1: so they wheel them from their bakery eyes. Where was
- 22:32Speaker 1: the bakeoff happening? It looked in like some town square
- 22:34Speaker 1: because there was all that seating you had. Okay, all right, now,
- 22:41Speaker 1: I'd like to talk about a few characters in this movie, okay,
- 22:44Speaker 1: and the actors who play them. Okay. Jennifer Jupiter and
- 22:48Speaker 1: Jelly Yes plays Lydia Sam's mom, Sam's mom. At one point,
- 22:55Speaker 1: my husband goes, she was like eight years old when
- 22:58Speaker 1: she had him, which led me to this Google search.
- 23:02Speaker 1: Jennifer Jupiter and Jellie is fifty years old today. Oh wow.
- 23:06Speaker 1: Eric slash Rego Airgunt is forty today. She nearly was
- 23:12Speaker 1: ten years old. Ah that's funny. Michelle scarebelly is sixty eight. Okay,
- 23:17Speaker 1: So this is one of those things where we've taken
- 23:19Speaker 1: any woman over the age of forty and we're like,
- 23:21Speaker 1: you're the grandma, you're old year old. Yeah, I have one, okay,
- 23:27Speaker 1: And it's mostly a complaint. Why can't Faye bake sitting down? Okay?
- 23:34Speaker 1: She's got like a broken what ankle? Layer, get her
- 23:37Speaker 1: a chair so she can at least, like you can
- 23:39Speaker 1: still stir sitting down? Yes, have you your daughter? Put
- 23:43Speaker 1: it in the oven for you. She could supervise, she
- 23:46Speaker 1: could stir, she could be present. I didn't get it.
- 23:48Speaker 1: And also she was someone who was supposed to be
- 23:52Speaker 1: resting and off her feet. The woman is up and
- 23:55Speaker 1: on crutches a lot, and they're I'm constantly yelling at
- 23:58Speaker 1: her about it. Yes, put her a scooter, Yeah, an
- 24:01Speaker 1: scooter something? What are those sit down ones? Something? Rascal? Rascal?
- 24:09Speaker 1: That's all all right, let's rate pumpkin pie wars. My
- 24:13Speaker 1: note here says, really enjoy this one. I gave it
- 24:15Speaker 1: four stars. I liked it. I have to lift my
- 24:20Speaker 1: head up from the table. Two point five wides. Oh
- 24:25Speaker 1: my god, you guys, please lay in and let us
- 24:29Speaker 1: know if you are this movie so much. Team Megan
- 24:32Speaker 1: with two point five stars are Team Windy. They're gonna
- 24:35Speaker 1: rip me apart in the Facebook group because they go
- 24:38Speaker 1: hard for these fan favorite movies. I would probably watch
- 24:44Speaker 1: it again. I would definitely put it on while beacon
- 24:48Speaker 1: some bread. Okay, sorry, all right, Well, whether you're a
