- 0:01SPEAKER_00: Good morning everybody.
- 0:03SPEAKER_00: I uh looking forward to being with you this morning.
- 0:06SPEAKER_00: Um I hope you guys are enjoying this and getting something out of it because I am just having a blast doing it.
- 0:12SPEAKER_00: I uh I'm really enjoying seeing uh some names that I haven't seen in a long time, and uh it's it it brings back memories and uh I don't know why, but I was gonna mention one, Suzanne R.
- 0:26SPEAKER_00: I won't finish the name, but uh just a cool part of our journey, Colleen and my journey a few years back, and just a really good friend and fun to watch her wrestle with God uh over the time that I knew her.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: Alright, so I want to talk to you again about this whole mind shift stuff and how to um receive and enjoy everything that God has for you.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: So, John 10, 10, we've talked about it before.
- 0:52SPEAKER_00: The thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: But I've come that you might have life and that life more abundantly.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Of course, Jesus talking, and uh he says that the thief comes to steal, kill, and destroy.
- 1:04SPEAKER_00: And I mentioned a few weeks back that um uh the the greatest act of theft is not taking something you currently have, it's keeping you from getting, enjoying, receiving what you were meant to have.
- 1:20SPEAKER_00: So if if if God has this really cool plan for your life that includes uh relationships, emotional health, uh, you know, uh success in life, whatever that may mean, obviously that's relative to your calling and preparation and all that cool stuff.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: But um how how does he do it?
- 1:39SPEAKER_00: How does he keep us from getting what it is that we we we we want and that God wants for us?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: And by he I mean the enemy uh of our souls.
- 1:51SPEAKER_00: I would I would say this to you, just to kind of tweak your you know, your appetite for more, uh what you were saved into is more important than what you were saved out of.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: What you were saved for is more important than what you were saved from.
- 2:10SPEAKER_00: And what I mean by that is I I love that my sins are forgiven.
- 2:14SPEAKER_00: I love that uh God has a great plan for my life and that it it entails forgiving all the horrible things that I've done.
- 2:22SPEAKER_00: But but God's got something for you, man.
- 2:25SPEAKER_00: And he doesn't want you to just appreciate, oh, I'm forgiven and I'm gonna go to heaven when I die.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: He wants you to come after the life that he meant for you to have.
- 2:34SPEAKER_00: So, how does the enemy keep us from getting what God wants us to have?
- 2:40SPEAKER_00: And I would say it this way: He shrinks our capacity to receive.
- 2:46SPEAKER_00: He shrinks our capacity to receive.
- 2:49SPEAKER_00: Uh, right now, flowing through the room, wherever you are, is love, for instance.
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: I believe God's love's flowing through the room right now, just like radio waves.
- 3:00SPEAKER_00: But here's the deal: just like a radio, if it's not tuned to the right frequency, or if the radio is broken, um that that love can be flowing over you both directions, up, down, in every way, but you're not going to be able to receive it.
- 3:17SPEAKER_00: You're not gonna be able to take it in and enjoy it.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: So I believe one of the biggest things the enemy does to keep us from the life God wants for us is he shrinks our capacity to receive.
- 3:32SPEAKER_00: He he, instead of it being this great big wide pipe that everything God needs and wants for us comes down, he shrinks it down and we get little drips, little drips.
- 3:43SPEAKER_00: And um, I I kind of in a way, that's what I'm all about and what I want to help you with is how to change that.
- 3:50SPEAKER_00: Romans 5, 17, part you might say part B, excuse me, says, those who receive the abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness will reign in life.
- 4:03SPEAKER_00: Now, we could talk about grace and righteousness.
- 4:05SPEAKER_00: I love to talk about grace and righteousness, but I want you to focus on one phrase.
- 4:09SPEAKER_00: Those who receive.
- 4:11SPEAKER_00: Those who receive.
- 4:12SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 4:13SPEAKER_00: It doesn't mean those who understand, it doesn't mean those who could theologically defend, it doesn't mean those who could preach a sermon, it doesn't mean those who could write an essay about grace and righteousness.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: It says those who receive the gift of grace and righteousness and uh righteousness.
- 4:34SPEAKER_00: What am I trying to say?
- 4:35SPEAKER_00: What I'm trying to say is it's floating.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: What God has for you is is kind of, not this isn't a great way to say it, but it's kind of hovering.
- 4:45SPEAKER_00: But we've got to figure out how to receive it.
- 4:48SPEAKER_00: And how does the enemy keep us from receiving it?
- 4:50SPEAKER_00: Uh Matthew 10, 8 says this freely you've received, freely you give.
- 4:57SPEAKER_00: Freely, without cost or condition.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Without cost or condition, without cost or condition.
- 5:06SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: Freely you've received.
- 5:08SPEAKER_00: What does that mean?
- 5:09SPEAKER_00: It means without having to earn it and without deserving it, you receive.
- 5:14SPEAKER_00: And then here's what's cool.
- 5:16SPEAKER_00: Then that's how you learn to give to others without cost or condition.
- 5:20SPEAKER_00: But please get this.
- 5:22SPEAKER_00: The key is the key to giving others what they what they need from you, want from you without cost or condition, is learning to receive what you need from God without cost or condition.
- 5:36SPEAKER_00: So where in the world, how does the enemy, how does this work?
- 5:42SPEAKER_00: Alright, I want you to picture.
- 5:44SPEAKER_00: Here's a guy at work, and uh a friend comes up to him at work and says, Hey, uh, there's a party tonight over at so-and-so's house, and we'd uh you know, love for you to come.
- 5:54SPEAKER_00: So he says, Oh, cool.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: So a little bit later, he overhears a conversation of a couple other co-workers, not the one who invited him to the party, but a couple others, and they're talking about him.
- 6:07SPEAKER_00: And it's they're not it's not nice.
- 6:10SPEAKER_00: They're talking about how they don't like him and whatever, whatever.
- 6:13SPEAKER_00: So that's the situation.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: Now I want you to watch what happens.
- 6:18SPEAKER_00: So he hears that, and he says to himself, I I don't think anybody likes me.
- 6:25SPEAKER_00: You know, I don't know why they invited me.
- 6:26SPEAKER_00: They probably invited me just because they feel obligated.
- 6:29SPEAKER_00: They don't really want me at the party.
- 6:31SPEAKER_00: So what happens is he feels horrible, and he's having an awful day.
- 6:38SPEAKER_00: He goes home and that night he doesn't go to the party.
- 6:42SPEAKER_00: Why?
- 6:43SPEAKER_00: Because he doesn't feel like he's welcome.
- 6:44SPEAKER_00: He doesn't feel like they really want him there.
- 6:46SPEAKER_00: So he's at home and he's sad, angry, hurt, miserable.
- 6:52SPEAKER_00: Alright, let's play it back.
- 6:54SPEAKER_00: He gets the invite to go to the party, and uh he hears the people talking about him, and they're saying the same things.
- 7:01SPEAKER_00: They're not saying very nice things about him.
- 7:04SPEAKER_00: So he he hears that and he's like, ouch, that hurts, man.
- 7:09SPEAKER_00: Um, gosh, I, you know, I wish they would talk to me.
- 7:12SPEAKER_00: I'd I'd love to know what I've done that's bothered them or whatever, and you know, maybe I'll get an opportunity to do that.
- 7:20SPEAKER_00: So he he's you know, he's hurt, but he's functioning.
- 7:24SPEAKER_00: He's like, okay, we'll figure it out.
- 7:26SPEAKER_00: That night he goes to the party.
- 7:29SPEAKER_00: Guess what?
- 7:30SPEAKER_00: He has a great time.
- 7:32SPEAKER_00: There's people there that he interacts with, and it's wonderful.
- 7:38SPEAKER_00: What made the difference?
- 7:40SPEAKER_00: Well, you've got it, please.
- 7:41SPEAKER_00: I beg you, you but you gotta get this.
- 7:43SPEAKER_00: What made the difference?
- 7:44SPEAKER_00: Where did the difference happen?
- 7:47SPEAKER_00: Finger, point.
- 7:49SPEAKER_00: Everything that made the difference between the first scenario and the second happened between his ears.
- 7:56SPEAKER_00: Happened between his ears.
- 7:58SPEAKER_00: He thought differently.
- 8:01SPEAKER_00: And he felt differently, so he acted differently, and he got a different result.
- 8:09SPEAKER_00: Now, I want to give you a little formula.
- 8:12SPEAKER_00: B T F A equals R.
- 8:18SPEAKER_00: B plus T B T F A plus F plus A equals R.
- 8:23SPEAKER_00: What do I mean?
- 8:25SPEAKER_00: What you believe deep.
- 8:28SPEAKER_00: Beliefs are deep, kind of subconscious almost.
- 8:32SPEAKER_00: They're there all the time, percolating, but we don't think about them all the time.
- 8:36SPEAKER_00: What you believe drives what you think, what you think drives what you feel, what you feel drives how you act.
- 8:45SPEAKER_00: And all together that creates a locomotive that creates the result you get.
- 8:50SPEAKER_00: What you believe drives what you think.
- 8:53SPEAKER_00: Thinking is talking to yourself.
- 8:55SPEAKER_00: What you believe drives what you think, and it creates this constant monologue in the back of your mind about God, yourself, others, your place in the world, what you have to do to get people to like you, and all that kind of stuff.
- 9:08SPEAKER_00: So what you believe drives what you think, what you say to yourself, that kind of drives how you feel, which then determines how you act, and all of the above creates the results in your life.
- 9:23SPEAKER_00: So, gotta wind up here.
- 9:25SPEAKER_00: How does the enemy rob you from moments God wants you to enjoy, experiences God wants you to have, relationships God wants you to enter into?
- 9:36SPEAKER_00: How does the enemy rob you by affecting what you believe about yourself, which drives how you think, which affects how you feel, how you act, and the results you get.
- 9:50SPEAKER_00: What we're gonna do over the next few weeks is we're gonna break that whole little formula down.
- 9:54SPEAKER_00: If you could just picture them all as capital letters, capital B, capital T, capital F, capital A.
- 10:00SPEAKER_00: B plus T plus F plus A yields or equals our results.
- 10:06SPEAKER_00: And what we're gonna talk about is where did we get our beliefs?
- 10:10SPEAKER_00: First child 4.16, we've come to know and believe.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: Now it talks about we've come to know and believe the love that God has for us.
- 10:18SPEAKER_00: But we've come to know and believe certain things.
- 10:23SPEAKER_00: Where did it come from?
- 10:24SPEAKER_00: And maybe the most important thing in your life, other than uh your relationship with Jesus Himself, is how do we change that?
- 10:32SPEAKER_00: How do we how do we rearrange what we believe, think, feel, and act so that we get better results in life?
- 10:39SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna talk about that in the next couple of weeks.
- 10:42SPEAKER_00: And uh again, man, I just appreciate you guys so much.
- 10:45SPEAKER_00: You uh you give me a reason to get out of bed, man.
- 10:48SPEAKER_00: And uh love you guys.
- 10:50SPEAKER_00: See you soon again.
- 10:52SPEAKER_00: Bye.
