- 0:00It's Most Things Kenobi, an elegant podcast for a more
- 0:04civilized fandom. Hi everyone, welcome to another
- 0:21episode of Most Things Kenobi, a podcast about Obi Wan Kenobi and
- 0:25all things Star Wars. I'm your host, Lauren.
- 0:28And I'm your host, Leanne. And this week we are talking
- 0:32about Tales of the Empire. Yes.
- 0:37Which I thought was really good. It was good.
- 0:40I I actually liked it better than Tales of the Jedi.
- 0:42I did too, and then it was better storytelling.
- 0:47Yeah, it was. I will say as soon as the
- 0:49episode started though, I felt like for Klimt because it was
- 0:52clone Wars animation. It was.
- 0:54It was. So fucking good, Oh my.
- 0:57God, there were a lot of moments where I was blown away thinking
- 1:01like this is animation, like it's just come so far.
- 1:05It's crazy, especially if you compare it to season one of
- 1:09Clone Wars. Well, you, you can't.
- 1:12No, you can't. It's not fair.
- 1:13That was a long time ago in an in a technological Galaxy very
- 1:19far away. Yes, yeah, things have changed
- 1:22for the better for all of us. I actually thought there were
- 1:25going to be more episodes. So when the the second set of
- 1:30episodes, you know, the second tale was over, I expected like
- 1:34three more episodes of somebody else and it was just done.
- 1:37I was like, wait, what more? No more.
- 1:39I had the same exact experience. I was like, who was the the last
- 1:43three going to be about? And then I went, oh, and then I
- 1:48went and looked at Tales of the Jedi.
- 1:49And that is also only six episodes, but they kind of
- 1:52interchanged them. They didn't do all of Ahsoka's
- 1:55together and all the Dooku's together.
- 1:57So yeah, that I think I liked the format of this group of
- 2:01episodes better. Like it.
- 2:03It allowed for more development within the story.
- 2:07I agree, and it was more cohesive where I I bet it was
- 2:11more intentional. I feel like Tales of the Jedi
- 2:14was kind of, and Filoni said this, that there were little
- 2:17vignettes he made-up on an airplane when he was flying back
- 2:20and forth between San Francisco and LA for Mandalorian.
- 2:23But Tales of the Empire seems more deliberate, like they
- 2:26picked stories they wanted to tell, and they that's why I feel
- 2:30like the Ark was more concise and more developed than in Tales
- 2:35of the Jedi. I totally agree.
- 2:38Yeah, it felt kind of like they were grasping in Tales of the
- 2:41Jedi and in Tales of the Empire. It just felt like they knew what
- 2:45story they wanted to tell. Yeah, and I really enjoyed the
- 2:48stories. I was pleasantly surprised by my
- 2:51interest level in the barest set of episodes because I can't
- 2:54stand her. I still don't like her, but I
- 2:57understand her a little better. I was.
- 2:59I was just surprised. I did not think that it would
- 3:02end. It ended up the way it ended.
- 3:05I was not expecting her character to progress that way.
- 3:09Spoiler, spoiler alert, we are going to talk about talk about
- 3:13it. So like, if you haven't watched
- 3:15it yet, come back, but yeah. Yeah, I'm trying to be general
- 3:18in this beginning part in case you have not seen it, but
- 3:22proceed it at at your own comfort.
- 3:26Level, if you will. I also was surprised.
- 3:29I was actually almost disappointed.
- 3:31Like, not in a bad way, but I was kind of saddened that it
- 3:35that it ended that way for bears 'cause I was like, that's kinda,
- 3:40well, first of all, OK, so she's aged right?
- 3:43Like but by the end of her story, why didn't the other
- 3:47Inquisitor age? I literally had to look that up.
- 3:51I googled it. I googled it because I was
- 3:54confused. I, I don't know if it's because
- 4:01I, I don't know. It could be the species.
- 4:04I, I was confused because I, I was only familiar with that
- 4:07character from the Kenobi series and I tried to Google if there
- 4:11was some interaction with this character in the Clone Wars and
- 4:16there there wasn't. So they're implying.
- 4:20That she's like an ex ex Jedi, right?
- 4:22That's kind of what they're implying about her.
- 4:25I I guess I don't like those worm things on her head.
- 4:29I didn't like them in the Kenobi show and I was even more like
- 4:33turned off by them in this in the in the animated version of
- 4:37her character. It's very strange.
- 4:38I don't know a lot about her species, so perhaps I should do
- 4:41more, I don't know, research to see if she has an aging problem
- 4:48or maybe not a problem, I don't know.
- 4:49Not an aging problem, it's a. Problem.
- 4:51Not a problem you have. I don't know.
- 4:54Do you want to talk about Barris's story first?
- 4:56Do you want to talk about magistrates?
- 5:00Ellsbeth. Elsbeth because I I was.
- 5:04I loved both. Either like honestly 'cause I I
- 5:07feel the same. I enjoyed both equally.
- 5:11OK, well let's go in order. Let's talk about how she became,
- 5:16what she became, and I How many times have the Night Sisters
- 5:22been attacked at this point? Have they been wiped out?
- 5:26Several times. I think that was supposed to be
- 5:29the time from. Cloned the time, yeah.
- 5:32That that's I kept. I really kept expecting Mother
- 5:35Chausen to appear somewhere and she.
- 5:37Did me too and she didn't, you know, it's it's always great to
- 5:41see Grievous always loved seeing him, loved being like hey bro,
- 5:46still the same. It was good.
- 5:48I wish he had more lines. I know, but it's he's just, he's
- 5:54just a figure, you know, he's. And they weren't anticipating
- 5:58the mother of Elle's Morgan. I'll say Morgan, the mother of
- 6:03Morgan, was not anticipating that other lightsaber, but I
- 6:07was. Yeah, I know.
- 6:09I It made me wonder like the did the Night Sisters not know
- 6:13Grievous or what he was capable of?
- 6:18I don't know but I loved her Half Moon Staffs.
- 6:20That was cool as fuck. Oh my God, Chris the Sickle.
- 6:25This, yeah. Yeah.
- 6:27And I noticed with them that she, like, imbued it, you know,
- 6:31with magic. And then as first of all,
- 6:33whatever she did made it impossible for the lightsaber to
- 6:36cut through those weapons. Which I saw very cool.
- 6:39Very cool, but then as they got more and more damaged you could
- 6:43see the spell like reducing all the way down to just like above
- 6:47the handles. Yeah, which was really nice.
- 6:50That was a nice touch. It was smart.
- 6:52I didn't even notice that until I kind of watched the second
- 6:55time around and then I saw how like deliberate that was, that
- 6:59it was like decaying around until she only had a little bit
- 7:02of protection left. That was cool, but very sad.
- 7:07Poor boy. Yeah, I But you know, what's
- 7:10funny about all of this is I have said since day one that
- 7:14Star Wars is about choices and she made a very deliberate
- 7:19choice. Clarence agrees.
- 7:23Don't know if you heard that. Yeah, she made a very deliberate
- 7:28choice. And and it goes back to the
- 7:30title of the episodes. It was like hate anger, like
- 7:34the, you know, which is the Yoda quote that I love that he says
- 7:38to to Anakin. And so you can choose revenge.
- 7:44You can choose a life of hate and anger, or you can choose to
- 7:52carry on in a peaceful manner and not seek revenge.
- 7:55I mean, it's, it's kind of like Luke.
- 7:58Luke made a much better choice. He lost his family and
- 8:01everything he'd ever known and had other atrocities happen in
- 8:06his lifetime beyond that point. And it's like he never made the
- 8:09choice to turn into what Morgan did, you know?
- 8:13What the thing that really struck me by the end of actually
- 8:17both of these arcs because of the the other Sister Inquisitor,
- 8:21not Barris's. Choices but.
- 8:23They're so miserable and totally none of their revenge or their
- 8:29anger satisfies the emptiness inside them and they still just
- 8:35progress through their whole lives angry and like they never
- 8:41achieve the real, I don't know, satisfaction or full circle that
- 8:47they're seeking. So it's.
- 8:48It's never enough. It's never enough.
- 8:50Yeah. And it just leaves you feeling
- 8:52empty. And they can't.
- 8:54As smart as they are, they never connect those dots, you know?
- 8:58Well, it's their identity. At this point, what happened to
- 9:01them becomes their identity and they can't separate from it
- 9:04because they don't know who they be without this terrible thing
- 9:07that happened to them that defines who they become down the
- 9:10road. Like they attach to that and
- 9:12they never let go. It's just like Vader, Vader
- 9:14attached to this hate to Obi Wan and never let it go.
- 9:18Never. And it's you see that in real
- 9:22life. Oh yeah, it's just.
- 9:24Astonishing. And all it does is eat you up.
- 9:29That's it. And make you really unpleasant
- 9:31to be around. I really, really, really loved
- 9:35that we got to see that village that Morgan goes to that
- 9:38obviously Mando and Ahsoka come to.
- 9:40Oh, you see the staff, how she got that best guard staff that
- 9:46ends up with Mando. We got to see those villagers
- 9:49again. How terrible.
- 9:50I mean, like that's the, that is a population of humanity
- 9:56speaking on behalf of humanity of like you told us this would
- 9:59get better. You told us if we did the thing
- 10:01you told us to do, we would get compensation.
- 10:04And it never comes. It's just lie after lie after
- 10:07lie. And, and then we get then we get
- 10:11younger Thrawn, but like older Thrawn, but not as old Thrawn.
- 10:15I was like, there he is. I was very thrilled.
- 10:21It was and he wasn't. He was he just Admiral 'cause he
- 10:25wasn't in his full uniform. Yet no.
- 10:28He. Yeah.
- 10:29And he was Clone Wars style throne, which we've never seen.
- 10:32We've only ever seen Rebels. And his like the guy who came to
- 10:37Elspeth, who of course I cannot remember his name now, his
- 10:40assistant or whatever. He's from the Legends books.
- 10:43I don't know if he's in the the new books as well, but he was
- 10:47originally in the Legends book. And the, I don't know, Rook, I
- 10:51think it's Rook is the name the assassin that he sends to, Yeah.
- 10:55Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I recognized him.
- 10:57Yes, I was like, he's from the original Throne trilogy.
- 11:01I, I, I definitely recognized him.
- 11:03I said, I said, I know this guy and I was trying to search in my
- 11:07brain and that and, and it came to me, you know, eventually when
- 11:09Throne came, I was like, I get it.
- 11:11It all makes sense. I now see I haven't read the new
- 11:14books you have right. Yes, yes.
- 11:17So I don't know if that character is in the new books,
- 11:20but. Well, it's at this point Thrawn
- 11:23is aware of who Vader is and the whole thing, which we'll get to
- 11:27when we get to Barris's story. I just really love these Easter
- 11:31eggs that they throw at us for the people who know.
- 11:33It doesn't take away from the story for the people who don't
- 11:35know. But it's so gratifying to see
- 11:38and understand and know. Like, hey, this is from this
- 11:41book, and that's from this comic, and that's from this part
- 11:43of the show. And it's fun.
- 11:45It was really fun. I really liked.
- 11:46It yeah, I enjoyed that a lot yeah.
- 11:49I I have forgotten about in that village where Morgan is out in
- 11:54front of the magistrates gates there's like the like the
- 11:58stockades that they keep people in.
- 12:01I had. Totally.
- 12:02Forgotten about that and it's so medieval and horrific.
- 12:05It's really really they're like on display for like a warning.
- 12:10I I can't. But let's talk about the New
- 12:14Republic Senate Representative Senator.
- 12:18Was she a senator? I don't know but something.
- 12:22OK, I felt so bad for that individual, but her species I've
- 12:26never seen before and I thought it was so interesting.
- 12:30Like her fingers, her amphibious.
- 12:33She looked amphibious, but obviously she's above water like
- 12:39a like, what's what's our friends?
- 12:42The mother of their names. Yes, thank you.
- 12:44So, like, I don't know if she is, but I need to look that up.
- 12:46And I forgot all about looking that up, but I really thought
- 12:49she was beautiful. I thought she was A and she was
- 12:52so naive though, you could tell like, Oh my God.
- 12:55I know, I know. Just from the minute she walks
- 12:57out, you're like, well, she's gonna die.
- 12:59Yeah. Not gonna be good.
- 13:01She's far too sweet to survive. Yeah, it's really sad because I
- 13:05think evil individuals really take advantage of good
- 13:11individuals because their kindness and their goodness can
- 13:16make them naive or put them in a position where they're on the
- 13:20weaker end of things because they want to believe there's
- 13:22good in everyone and there just isn't sometimes.
- 13:26Yeah. And it's a hard lesson to learn.
- 13:30So, so the, the, the beeper, the speaker, the little voice thing
- 13:34that she was going to give, who did that contact?
- 13:37Ahsoka. That's what I thought, was it
- 13:40Ahsoka's voice. I think it was Rosario Dawson's
- 13:42voice. OK, 'cause I listened to it two
- 13:44or three times and I I thought so, but I wasn't quite sure.
- 13:49So that was very cool that that was the tie in.
- 13:52I assumed it was 'cause it sounded enough like her.
- 13:54I mean I suppose they could add someone else voice it, but I I'm
- 13:58assuming that's why Ahsoka goes there in Mandalora.
- 14:01Yes, 'cause she received. A distress signal.
- 14:04And they torched that whole, which was like.
- 14:07Hard to watch. Yeah, I really can't with people
- 14:10who destroy nature, OK, But when Ahsoka and Mando both get there,
- 14:15it's like freshly soot. It's like freshly charred.
- 14:20I guess. Lack of a better term, but I was
- 14:23like trying to put the timeline together.
- 14:25It's just very sad. It's very sad.
- 14:28Yeah, but it was really good. I thought it was a really a
- 14:32smart way of tying in. The only part of Mando I
- 14:36enjoyed. I mean it's.
- 14:39It's what you said though. They're so miserable.
- 14:42Yeah. And they never ever quite
- 14:45they're looking for some sort of validation.
- 14:48If you ever notice, all of these individuals are seeking approval
- 14:55or acceptance and they'll take it wherever they can, even if it
- 14:59means stooping to the lowest level.
- 15:01Yeah. I didn't realize that Morgan
- 15:04Elsbeth came up with the design of that specific fighter with
- 15:09the pointed. They, they just left out some
- 15:13major educational years of her life where she'd be an engineer,
- 15:18I guess. I don't know.
- 15:19I was like. Shit, I, I think that's great.
- 15:21We love women in in STEM, including engineers.
- 15:24But maybe not, maybe not for the the Empire.
- 15:29Well it does explain though why she's so loyal to Thrawn in the
- 15:35Ahsoka series. Because he took her seriously.
- 15:39He had no intention of double crossing her.
- 15:41He seemed to respect her like all the way up through the end
- 15:44of her storyline in Ahsoka. Which, looking now at her arc as
- 15:50much as we've got, what a wasted life she had.
- 15:54I was totally thinking the same thing.
- 15:56Her end does not is. It's not.
- 16:00It's just not good enough. Yes, yes.
- 16:03The character I feel like had so much potential and not just like
- 16:08as a character to develop, but as a person.
- 16:11Like if that was your life, it's so unsatisfied.
- 16:17You know? I feel like she she kept
- 16:20striving to help Thron do whatever Thron does and for her
- 16:24own satisfaction and never really got there, even though I
- 16:28think she felt honored to have the blade that she fought Ahsoka
- 16:32with. But like, to what end?
- 16:35To die quickly. That end.
- 16:38And like I said in in that fight with Ahsoka, I enjoyed watching
- 16:41her more 'cause she's actually like a martial arts expert.
- 16:46So. Totally agree.
- 16:48Hands down fantastic get. She deserves all the kudos.
- 16:53It was really, yeah, I really enjoy her.
- 16:56She's great. Isn't Bruce Lee her uncle or
- 16:59godfather or something? She's like somehow related to
- 17:02Bruce Lee. Which is just, it's a quick
- 17:05question I don't know the answer to that is amazing, actually.
- 17:09Shit, she's a badass everywhere. I I don't know, she just seems
- 17:13so genuinely excited to be in the show when we saw her in in
- 17:17celebration in London. And I love anyone who's excited
- 17:21to be on a show or as a character or anyone who's just
- 17:26like completely thrilled to a child.
- 17:29Like Joy and I, I got that vibe from her, which I appreciate so
- 17:32very much. I also got that vibe from Diego
- 17:34Luna at Celebration. Yeah, it was Anaheim, and he was
- 17:39holding up the poster from the show.
- 17:41And he's like, yeah, everybody just like, frame this and put it
- 17:44up in your living rooms. Like, look at me, I'm on a show.
- 17:48I did a thing. I.
- 17:49Did a Star Wars. It was really.
- 17:52Cool though, it was adorable. Well, that that brings us to Old
- 17:59Barris's storyline. Yeah, she still looks like she
- 18:04was having a very miserable life in prison.
- 18:08They kept her hands bound in prison.
- 18:11Yeah, yeah, I bet you they were force cuffs, that's why.
- 18:17Yeah, probably to keep her from doing.
- 18:19And of course, her view right out her window was the Jedi
- 18:22Temple. Yeah, and she watched it all go
- 18:25down and it's kind of fucked up. It's so fucked up because the
- 18:31best part of it for me was her, when they brought her in, they
- 18:37were testing her, all this stuff with the Inquisitors and making
- 18:41her a, a, a sister and whatever. And then like Anakin strolls in
- 18:46as Vader. Yeah.
- 18:48And like, do you think he knew that would have been real
- 18:52fucking awkward? Oh, I'm sure he knew because her
- 18:55helmet wasn't on yet. No, so I'm sitting here as a
- 18:59viewer thinking how awkward and awful is this twist of the
- 19:04fates, right? He was a Jedi when he discovered
- 19:08how wrong she was for framing Ahsoka and all this stuff and
- 19:13brought justice to Ahsoka. Ahsoka has now left the Order.
- 19:18Anakin has now turned from a Jedi to a Sith and now is facing
- 19:23the person that he put in jail for doing the same fucking
- 19:26thing. Like what a terrible twit.
- 19:30Anakin's story is so awful. It's just like how does he sit
- 19:35there in the Vader suit and is like seeing all of this and not
- 19:42re reliving like how wrong he was to do what he did.
- 19:47I actually wonder if he's the one who suggested Barris.
- 19:51Probably. 'Cause he knew she was in
- 19:54prison, he knew what her her loyalties were not to the Jedi.
- 19:59So she would have been one of the more likely people to to
- 20:04join the Empire I guess I mean. It that makes sense?
- 20:09Because he, he's. I hate that though.
- 20:13I I hate all of. This.
- 20:16He's so twisted. He really, it's just, it's just
- 20:20it really, OK, I got that out. I just needed to get all that
- 20:27out. I am not surprised that they
- 20:32were pitted against each other and one had to kill the other.
- 20:35Yeah. And I was not surprised that
- 20:38Barris had no problem doing it. Well she and she almost did it
- 20:42in self-defense. She wasn't going to do it until
- 20:45that other guy turned against her.
- 20:47She she really straddles the line.
- 20:50Yeah, a killer be killed, she'll do it.
- 20:52But then when the sister slaughters the village, I think
- 20:56that was pretty horrifying to Barris.
- 20:58Yeah, she used her kindness, I guess, to help the little kid
- 21:04give her what she needed without force.
- 21:06Very Jedi thing to do. But like, Oh my God, she's like,
- 21:11holy shit. I don't know.
- 21:15I I don't know. I do love the Jason Isaacs came
- 21:19back as the Inquisitor. I just.
- 21:21Yes, yes. I love Jason Isaacs and.
- 21:24I there's really no other person that can do it, or should do it
- 21:27for that matter. I really wish they had him do it
- 21:29in live action. I don't know why they didn't,
- 21:31because he's an excellent actor. Maybe.
- 21:35Maybe he didn't want to wear the things on his ears.
- 21:37Yeah, yeah, maybe. I mean, you never know if it's
- 21:39the person turning it down, you know?
- 21:41Yeah, and not not that. Oh gosh, I can't remember his
- 21:45name now. I feel terrible for forgetting
- 21:47his name. The guy who played him, the
- 21:49Inquisitor in Kenobi. Oh, I don't remember, I.
- 21:52He did a fine job, but Jason Isaacs, it's his, he's no one
- 21:58does the things with his voice like Jason Isaacs does.
- 22:00It's. Very true.
- 22:02It's true. Yeah, he's great.
- 22:05I love him in Harry Potter, I love him in Peter Pan.
- 22:08I just. He's so good at being evil.
- 22:10A. 100% I I really enjoyed the back and forth between the
- 22:16Inquisitor and Barris. I don't know, I just I would
- 22:24really liked that she became a hermit hippie in like Siberia if
- 22:34you will and I liked her little clan of creatures that she hung
- 22:40out with. What planet was that?
- 22:45I don't remember but I did recognize Anna Graves voice in
- 22:49there as one of her companions. Oh, I didn't.
- 22:54What? Yeah, the tall, the taller.
- 22:56What I didn't know. I should.
- 23:00It was her. I think it was her.
- 23:01I'm not 100% sure. I didn't check.
- 23:02Yeah. That's cool.
- 23:04I actually wondered if Barris is part of the path.
- 23:09Oh. I know that that she is a
- 23:12healer, but she told her companions to take that family
- 23:16with this force sensitive child and go to another planet and
- 23:19there'd be someone waiting for them.
- 23:22I didn't think it what I I thought she meant Ahsoka, to be
- 23:27honest, she said a friend or a or a an acquaintance.
- 23:31Interesting, I wonder if she would they be friends though
- 23:35since she framed. No.
- 23:36Oh absolutely not. But I don't I don't know what
- 23:39other friends she has. Quinlan, Voss.
- 23:44Maybe. I mean, Quinlan seems friendly.
- 23:49I don't know. I, I, I honestly don't know.
- 23:52I don't know. I wonder if they'll expand on
- 23:54that ever under any. Well, I mean, how cool would it
- 23:58be if, if they ever do season 2 of Tales of the Jedi, they pick
- 24:02up that story? And.
- 24:05We see what's like how it's tied into the larger picture.
- 24:08That would be really cool. But you.
- 24:10Know I thought the planet looked like crate with that giant wall
- 24:15you think so too yeah it's. Probably not though, because.
- 24:18I don't think it is. The timeline doesn't work, I
- 24:21don't think. But I mean it looked, I don't
- 24:24remember crate being like frigid cold, whipping winds, etcetera.
- 24:29No. And it didn't have the red soil,
- 24:31but it didn't. It was very.
- 24:32Similar like creature, ice creature.
- 24:35Like it gave me the exact same vibes.
- 24:38Yeah, exactly. I I do, I do like the the
- 24:44representation of getting lost in a cave with mirrors.
- 24:48You don't know where you're at. That's claustrophobia 101 and I
- 24:51was feeling it. Yeah.
- 24:53I would freak the fuck out and I liked the lesson that was
- 24:58attached to it. I did too.
- 25:01I thought it was really well executed.
- 25:03I think the title of the episode was like the Way out or
- 25:05something. 'Cause she, yeah, she said.
- 25:09You know the way out. Yeah, and, and but she
- 25:12questioned the, the, the sister, she questioned, there's no way
- 25:17out, is there? But she was talking about out
- 25:19getting out of this level of misery and this, this dedication
- 25:24to the Sith and the Empire and the, not the Sith, the Empire
- 25:28and like Palpatine and the sisters and all this stuff.
- 25:30It was so metaphorical and literal.
- 25:34It's just, and, and she was like swinging that lightsaber at the
- 25:37rocks. I was like, I feel that.
- 25:38I fucking feel this. Where you're so frustrated and
- 25:42you don't know what to do, so you just lash out.
- 25:44I get. It yeah.
- 25:46And she was, she is like the Morgan character, right?
- 25:49Like, she spends her whole life with this anger and murdering
- 25:54villagers and, and having like, giving no quarter to anybody,
- 25:58you know, And she is miserable. And she's spent this time
- 26:02tracking bears down and it's still just full of rage.
- 26:06And that I think that's what Barris means.
- 26:08The way out is like you just have to let it go.
- 26:13Yeah, 'cause Barris let go of her, her wrongdoings, she let go
- 26:17of her attachment to the fact that she did this thing, it cost
- 26:20her, and then she made a completely different decision
- 26:22and moved on and was more in tune with herself and more at
- 26:28peace. Yeah.
- 26:30With herself, which is great. Wouldn't have expected it
- 26:33though. I thought for sure she'd be an
- 26:35evil little bitch the rest of her life, but I guess not
- 26:38everyone has the ability to change everyone.
- 26:41You had said fairly recently that she was a healer, and I had
- 26:45never, yes, known that. And so now we get to see that
- 26:49she left the Jedi, left the Empire, and ended up using her
- 26:54power to help other people and heal people.
- 26:57I think that is actually the best redemption.
- 27:01Oh 100% how do you make up for something killing innocent
- 27:04people? Heal, heal, heal yourself, heal
- 27:07others. And I pretty sure that Jedi that
- 27:10What is the damn character's name with the worms on her head.
- 27:12What? I don't know, I think she's like
- 27:14the second sister or something like that, but.
- 27:16OK, well I'll just refer to her as Sister Kept.
- 27:19Calling her something like. And she's like, that's not my
- 27:22name anymore. Yeah, like Lena.
- 27:24Lena. I can't remember.
- 27:25But yeah, it was very Anakin slash Vader When when he's like,
- 27:28I'm no longer that person, that's not my name anymore,
- 27:30don't call me that, etcetera. Exactly.
- 27:33She she like, attempted to kill that Jedi on the top of that
- 27:36rock on the the hillside and Barris said he's not dead yet.
- 27:42And she then went on to like, I believe healed him.
- 27:45And that's what like I guess was the catalyst to her thinking
- 27:49like I should do this from now on and try and help and heal and
- 27:52stuff. So maybe he's her friend that
- 27:54she sends. Oh, maybe.
- 27:56I'm sorry, they the the character was pronouns.
- 27:59Were they? Did you notice that?
- 28:02I did not, but that's good to know.
- 28:03I I. I thought that was interesting.
- 28:05Like what an interesting choice to to choose that and just like.
- 28:09Not that's great they. Didn't like call attention to
- 28:11it, they just did it. And I thought that's why I
- 28:13didn't notice it, yeah. That was very interesting.
- 28:16That's the way it should be, but maybe that is the friend.
- 28:20I didn't think of that. Yeah.
- 28:22I did not think of that. Good, good catch.
- 28:24I don't know. A lot was left to open to
- 28:25interpretation. I don't know that Barris was
- 28:27dead at the end. Right.
- 28:29They didn't show her die. She just said I won't let you
- 28:31die in here. So that doesn't mean that she
- 28:33didn't die altogether. Yeah, she could have put her in
- 28:37her Hut and set the Hut on fire. That would have been like a
- 28:40proper that's. The way I wanted.
- 28:42To send off. Yeah.
- 28:44Yeah. Well, you in a boat?
- 28:45Yes. The Viking boat on fire.
- 28:49Yes. I want to be flung up to the
- 28:53ceiling and cut in half by Vader's lightsaber.
- 28:57That's not weird at all. What a way to go.
- 29:01Yay. And then Barris can heal me.
- 29:06She can put me back together. I don't know, I I enjoyed both
- 29:12sets of stories. I really thought they were well
- 29:14done. It really really, really,
- 29:16really, really really makes me want a three episode arc of
- 29:21motherfucking Qui Gon Jinn Young Obi Wan Kenobi and Satine Crees
- 29:27on their goddamn dream. Give us the three.
- 29:30You don't have to expose everything, but wouldn't it be a
- 29:33great three episode arc? Would it not?
- 29:35People would die. They should really consider it
- 29:39after Tales of the Empire and what they did.
- 29:40They really could. They could cover Qui Gon's
- 29:43depth, they could cover Satine's depth and Obi Wan who could
- 29:46always, always use more background on him.
- 29:50Oh yeah, I'm never satisfied. There's never enough.
- 29:54I just don't know how it would hurt those 3 characters to give
- 29:57them a little bit more. It would be awesome I'm I'm all
- 30:02for a whole miniseries on it. Give me 12 Well.
- 30:05Yeah, but I mean, I'm just asking for three episodes here.
- 30:07Disney. Hello.
- 30:08Like, I'm not asking for it either.
- 30:11I'm not the only one. Everyone who's listening and
- 30:13James Arnold Taylor. Yeah.
- 30:14Yeah. So, I mean, it's not like the
- 30:17voice actor is opposed to come and battle about Liam Neeson,
- 30:20but come on. We gotta get him while he's
- 30:23still here. He's like, I'm million years
- 30:25old, so. Hello.
- 30:28Put him to use. He's amazing, we say.
- 30:32This like every episode with a host of different actors and
- 30:35actresses. I know again, the other day I
- 30:39saw Sam Witt were talking about how he got the job as Starkiller
- 30:42and I was like could. Like we need this, Why this been
- 30:46made live? Action, yet my head can't take
- 30:49it. I'm here for it.
- 30:52I'm here for all of it. I really like Tales of the
- 30:55Empire, so I'm pushing for more. How about you?
- 30:57Oh yeah, I, I think I liked it better because it was allowed to
- 31:03be darker. I think Tales of the Emperor or
- 31:05Tales of the Jedi was dark. It dealt with dark subject
- 31:09matter for sure, but I felt like they were trying to address much
- 31:13larger issues in Tales of the Jedi and it just was too big.
- 31:19You couldn't bite off a chunk that big and like, address it in
- 31:2415 minutes. That's true, yeah, Yeah.
- 31:28Like the whole idea of how Dooku lost faith in the Jedi, there
- 31:32was some random backwater. Yeah, I was planning the exact
- 31:37same. Yeah, that we're all supposed to
- 31:38care about. Whereas what they did here was
- 31:41take characters and tie them into existing stuff.
- 31:45Both Elsbeth. Elsbeth was part of the Night
- 31:49Sisters Falling which is crazy that she was there that day and
- 31:53then she tied into Mando. And then of course Barris ties
- 31:56into Clone Wars. We already are invested and the
- 32:02stuff with Dooku was very obtuse, I think it was.
- 32:07I agree. Hard to care because we don't
- 32:11see Dooku as a Jedi. We've seen Dooku as a bad guy.
- 32:15Yeah, I don't know. That's just kind of my take on
- 32:19it, but I'm interested in more for both.
- 32:21Like I'm open to seeing more. I love the animation, it's so
- 32:25beautiful. I know it's it is really, really
- 32:28at its top right now. I mean the shadowing, the little
- 32:31effects, the like you mentioned with the the two, what do they
- 32:35call what I want to say size, but that's not sickle.
- 32:38Thank you. Size is the big one is the big
- 32:42one. No, the Grim Reaper has a
- 32:44scythe. Yes, that's what I was thinking.
- 32:47Wouldn't it be cool if Vader came strolling by with a scythe
- 32:49like Oh my God. Hey guys I traded in my my
- 32:52Jeddah, not my Jeddah my lightsaber for this and it would
- 32:56glow red. That would be fucking.
- 32:57Oh my God, that'd be so terrifying.
- 33:00Some artist needs to draw for me, please.
- 33:02Anyway, that would be absolutely terrifying.
- 33:04But yeah, I want more tales of the Empire.
- 33:06Yeah, I'm interested. There's so much they could do.
- 33:09They could tie into Andor really easily as well.
- 33:12Oh, they could. Let's do it.
- 33:16We need. What's her name?
- 33:18Oh yeah, What is her name? Oh God, it's so deidre, Deidre.
- 33:23Thank you. We could get her story.
- 33:25Oh my God, we're praying and hoping, hoping and praying here.
- 33:31I suspect it'll be dark and very depressing, but awesome.
- 33:35Or we could get the back story to the mother of, what's his
- 33:37name? Cyril.
- 33:39Yeah, Cyril's mother. Let's get that story.
- 33:43Tales of Andor, Cyril's mother. Oh my God please I would.
- 33:49I would never lose interest. She's one of my favorite.
- 33:53I know she's so ridiculous. All right, let's just let's just
- 33:57stick to what we know and go from there.
- 34:08OK. Our question for you, who do you
- 34:11think Barris sent that force sensitive child to?
- 34:14Do you? Do you have a theory?
- 34:16We've thrown a few around, but we're curious to know what you
- 34:20guys think, so let us know. Next week's episode we are going
- 34:26to cover the first three episodes of The Acolyte.
- 34:31We are interested. We're I was unsure at first and
- 34:39then I was turned over into the category of I like this after
- 34:44the second episode. Yeah, we are going to discuss
- 34:47our thoughts, feelings, theories and all other all other things
- 34:51that involve the Acolyte first three episodes and that will
- 34:54take place next week. Thank you so much for joining us
