Latest / Be It Till You See It / 688. Have You Outgrown a Version of Yourself
Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_01]: It is one thing to realize you've outgrown a version of yourself, and it's another entirely different thing to let her go, because
- 0:09[SPEAKER_01]: It's emotional.
- 0:10[SPEAKER_01]: You can be forced to outgrow different things because situations changed.
- 0:14[SPEAKER_01]: And you can make this decision yourself, but either way, like, we're all gonna go through it.
- 0:20[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to the BIt till you see it podcast, where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:27[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also Logan, Ply's instructor and fitness business coach.
- 0:31[SPEAKER_01]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_01]: My friends, action brings clarity, and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:45[SPEAKER_01]: Each week my guests will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it till you see it.
- 0:55[SPEAKER_01]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 1:05[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome to a series with me, no guest today, it's me.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about growing who used to be without, like, I mean, shame and guilt and like this weird thing that we tend to do to ourselves and we're overachievers and we're covering perfectionist, which is like, oh my god, I should have known better.
- 1:20[SPEAKER_01]: But that's not in a dollar.
- 1:21[SPEAKER_01]: We're always here to learning grow, like, hopefully if you do this life right, you're always learning and growing, right?
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 1:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's interesting because I think this could be a really subtle thing because like I think outgrowing who you are does happen in subtle ways like I guess it could happen in fast big ways, but I do think it's like actually it's not like it's kind of like a volcano like there's things brewing underneath for a long time and it's like I'm ready I'm ready to come out I'm ready to be here so it's also really big.
- 1:50[SPEAKER_01]: outgoing like who used to be the other day when I record this.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_01]: I posted on my Instagram account series of photos of me from I said there are from 2010 I'm pretty convinced the first photo is from 2008 like right after I became a police instructor and I had been inspired by Claire Sparrow who's a guest on our podcast just like hey look at I posted a picture of me as baby instructor you should post picture of you and I was so cute and she and I like I was like I think I should
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Especially because I've just not been loving social media lately.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, why not?
- 2:22[SPEAKER_01]: Why not do this thing, right?
- 2:24[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, I was like, do I even have those photos?
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: Of course, I don't.
- 2:27[SPEAKER_01]: My phone, the photos kind of really start from like 2013 because like the cloud didn't really exist.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so you would have like, I guess keep things.
- 2:37[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not really sure.
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, to be honest, I have pictures of myself as a child.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I have pictures of myself since my iPhone started.
- 2:45[SPEAKER_01]: How to have as many pictures of myself now that I think about it from like between high school, through college and my retail work, which is such a bummer, because what great outfits I would have had.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, I went on Facebook and I went to like my old profile and cover photos and I actually did find these photos.
- 3:05[SPEAKER_01]: And you guys just so you remember, if you all buggle back in time, 16 and 18 years ago, you'd like higher photographers.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_01]: to take pictures of you doing something.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Now you just like set up a thing, click your watch, your phone takes great pictures, now I have a higher photographers.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_01]: And now look at these photos and I'm like, wow, I thought those were great photos.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_01]: Look at the quality of those photos.
- 3:26[SPEAKER_01]: No, if that's the photographers.
- 3:28[SPEAKER_01]: But man, I mean, you know, my goodness, if cameras can outgrow themselves, we certainly can't.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_01]: So I was going through the photos and I, one of the things I saw
- 3:39[SPEAKER_01]: I am was young and now that I look old now like now by any sort of the imagination I'm not saying that.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even think I am old but like because I think I like right but I am like looking at those photos I have to just be honest when people say that they think I look like I'm in my 30s.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_01]: I look like I am a child in some of these photos.
- 4:00[SPEAKER_01]: Like holy cow, people let me like go into bars, like you like that, oh my god.
- 4:05[SPEAKER_01]: So I definitely, you know, okay, this is a side-to-hand gym, but welcome to ADHD.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_01]: You know how like when you watch like pretty in pain in 16 canals, they all look like such adults.
- 4:15[SPEAKER_01]: And we're like, we didn't look like that like, why do I like, I don't know, because I look at background like, oh my god, I'm like, I look, I look like a high schooler, and I was graduate from college by several years.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_01]: But anyways, so first thing I thought was like, how gang I'm at, and like, whoa, when was I hair brown?
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: I forgot I had brown hair.
- 4:30[SPEAKER_01]: It's not the hair color that I have.
- 4:32[SPEAKER_01]: But the first photo, if you look at it, it's like, my hair is brown and then it slowly gets to red and then even more blonde red, which is like closer with
- 4:42[SPEAKER_01]: The third thing that I thought was like, I am so different from this girl.
- 4:48[SPEAKER_01]: Like, I am so different.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: Like, not in a bad or a sad way, just like a 16 to 18 years of outgrown her.
- 4:55[SPEAKER_01]: Like, you know, like the clothes she wore.
- 5:00[SPEAKER_01]: I'm also like styles of change but like what?
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: I mean they're cute.
- 5:04[SPEAKER_01]: They're like they're all a little lemon like I I was hey from a baby instructor I was born that was born the brand designer that's like the way I did it like I'm obviously not with that person but like I remember looking at the first point oh I know who I was with at that time oh my god oh my god what what was I into
- 5:21[SPEAKER_01]: And I also was like, you know, going back, I was like, I think you know, like the expectations I had, the fears I had, the dreams I had, like the goals that that version of me set, I'm so different from that person, the risks that I would take, like all of that.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_01]: And so it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's
- 5:41[SPEAKER_01]: It was kind of funny to look at those photos and go through that and then like, oh, I'm recording an outgoing, your old version of yourself podcast, how hilarious is that.
- 5:48[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, on this podcast, we actually have a lot of guests who talk about like, I used to be here this happened to me, and now I'm here, right?
- 5:57[SPEAKER_01]: and it's all great, it's all inspiring, it's all super helpful, sometimes it gets some really detailed nuggets, but I don't always, I don't think we acknowledge or take the time to talk about the shedding process, like, what does it feel like to go with that?
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_01]: So this week, it'll be two parts about growing your old self.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: So we're going to talk awareness and comparison today.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_01]: And the third day, we'll get into the release and action.
- 6:22[SPEAKER_01]: Just so because I know you guys like, you guys like a roadmap.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: Guess I wrote that.
- 6:25[SPEAKER_01]: And by the way, if you do love our podcast, one of the best ways you can do to support our podcast is being an OPC member.
- 6:32[SPEAKER_01]: So I do hope you check us out more doing there because they're, we do a lot about connecting to who we are and what you want and if you are,
- 6:39[SPEAKER_01]: like you want to outgrow the version that you're in, OPC is a great place to be.
- 6:43[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so let's get into kind of just like, I think I think to outgrow yourself, I think it would just be fun.
- 6:50[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I'm going to talk about what I became a applies instructor.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_01]: I was still managing a retail store and high-end accessories, and I really thought I could do both.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I wanted to do both, and I don't know that I, I'm trying to think back like,
- 7:07[SPEAKER_01]: Do I not think I could make a living teaching?
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: It's possible, especially because my first year of teaching, I was just teaching the mat while I was going through a comprehensive training.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_01]: And also, you know, I became a teacher at the recession.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_01]: So like a lot of people were always talking about how they didn't have enough clients and not enough money.
- 7:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I had this like, safe.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_01]: job, right?
- 7:27[SPEAKER_01]: Like, just a laugh.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_01]: It's a retail.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I had this like, safe job.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_01]: And my commissions were going down like I could see the writing was on the wall, even when I moved LA the year before Orange County was hitting getting hit sooner.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_01]: But I did live in LA and I did have student loans.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_01]: And so I definitely thought, well, I love my job.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_01]: I'll do this and I'll teach Pilates.
- 7:47[SPEAKER_01]: And so I kind of just was like, I could do this.
- 7:49[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm just adding to who I am, like such the overtever.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_01]: So somewhere, though, in the 2009 year, there were definitely some shifts.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_01]: So if I think back about who she was and what she was going through, there were shifts.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_01]: And you know, I don't think, I think it's okay to not really actually notice the shifts.
- 8:07[SPEAKER_01]: In fact,
- 8:08[SPEAKER_01]: Depending on how old you are, listening to this, if you're on the younger side, you're not going to have that intuition we talked about in a previous podcast because you haven't had experiences yet.
- 8:19[SPEAKER_01]: So, for sure, that's like, I mean, in 2009, how old was I?
- 8:26[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know, 83, 2009, right, someone can do the math.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_01]: So just the life experience I hadn't really outgrown a lot because I maybe outgrow high school and outgrow college, but like I hadn't really outgrown.
- 8:37[SPEAKER_01]: Like, here I was, like, doing this big girl, like, I felt like a badass boss babe, like, running things.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_01]: And I didn't even know what a recession could do.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know,
- 8:45[SPEAKER_01]: So, I definitely couldn't see the signs, the things we're shifting, that I was wanting more, that I was wanting something different.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_01]: Now I can, because I've done reflections on, on all of these different things, I can see the signs, but, anyway, so I, I don't even also know that I was too aware.
- 9:01[SPEAKER_01]: I think I think sometimes when you're going to think you're in a live forever, and so you're not necessarily aware that like, I'm not liking this anymore, you know, because it's like you just keep going and you keep doing, and also,
- 9:12[SPEAKER_01]: It's also when you have the job that I had like people like invious of that job, and so like it's really hard to go, oh, I don't want this because also I people tell me how crazy and amazing I was that I had it.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: So I can see the signs now that it was time to make a change and that there was a desire and I was no longer sitting into the life.
- 9:33[SPEAKER_01]: I was wearing or living.
- 9:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like I now really understand that like when I have resentment, there's something that needs to be changed.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: And so I do remember like
- 9:41[SPEAKER_01]: and that to the nine time that I was a resentful of the job that I would go to full time and retail when a client wanted an extra session that week, but I was working.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember like getting frustrated that like I could only teach for three hours and I had to go to my other job or I had to drive and traffic to go teach and wouldn't have been nice if I could have just not had a deal with this traffic.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_01]: I was already there teaching.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_01]: So just remember
- 10:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I just started to feel like the store was holding me back from making more money, which is funny, because I was keeping the store job to have more money.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_01]: But I remember going, okay, I think I really need to do is do less hours of store and more hours teaching.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_01]: So this is like, I was outgrowing this retail girl, but I wasn't brave enough to cut the ties.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: So after having that resentful stuff and getting frustrated and thinking about it, I came to this new conclusion that I should just shift the hours from one to the other.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_01]: So I told the owners of the store that I was managing that I wanted to step down to basically a part-time manager, which is like a keyholder.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_01]: And then I would be able to have extra days teaching and still have 10, some days off.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_01]: And they agreed and that it done.
- 10:55[SPEAKER_01]: I was training up the next manager.
- 10:57[SPEAKER_01]: And then like two weeks, Ish before everything was set to switch over.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_01]: The owner said, I have to let go of the other part-time girl.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, what?
- 11:08[SPEAKER_01]: And they're like, yeah, we don't need two part-time girls.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_01]: because we'll have a manager and we'll have this person and then you, so we don't need this as an extra person.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I remember thinking, oh, oh, I didn't think about that.
- 11:20[SPEAKER_01]: Like here I thought, you know, the story's going to benefit because I'll be working in these three days weeks and my clients can come on these three days.
- 11:26[SPEAKER_01]: You know, when you work in retail back, then like people have a salesperson.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_01]: So they'll also make their money.
- 11:30[SPEAKER_01]: I'll make my commission and so it's a win for them because they felt like family at the time.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_01]: So I definitely didn't want to screw them over in the outgrow and in myself that I was winning by the way, that's like a habit, a bad habit.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_01]: I would say, like it's no bad habit.
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: I mean,
- 11:43[SPEAKER_01]: And I'm becoming habit that I have is like making sure that the changes I'm making because I need to in my life is going in different directions.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: Don't.
- 11:51[SPEAKER_01]: always negatively affected, and I'm trying to solve that for them versus like they should solve it for themselves.
- 11:56[SPEAKER_01]: And in that conversation, I realized like they weren't letting me do what I was doing, but it wasn't going to be because they're going to keep everybody like their business.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: And it was during the recession.
- 12:07[SPEAKER_01]: So they were going to let her go, and I was like, oh, because I know her, I hired her, I trained her, which is really great.
- 12:13[SPEAKER_01]: I know she knew the money.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_01]: And when home I thought about it and I was just not okay as okay with keeping like
- 12:25[SPEAKER_01]: this job and her getting fired because as I thought of as I will what happens when I like do you have enough clients that I could leave right then they're going to be short someone and then I'm really screwing them over because I fired this great girl and on top of that she got screwed over because she doesn't have a job in retail during this time so I kind of I kind of a little mad but it was kind of a slap in the face wake up call that I needed to just quit
- 12:53[SPEAKER_01]: And it was somewhere in the middle of figuring that out that I realized that like I could make a living teaching and I didn't want to be in it in between.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_01]: I wanted to go all in and I think that's an important part when you are outgrowing a version of yourself.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_01]: There is this tendency to like,
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: try to do both people with people, keep the friends of the old life while you're in the new life.
- 13:19[SPEAKER_01]: Keep the clothes of the old life when you're in the new life.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: Keep the schedule of the old life when you're in the new life because we're just we don't want to let things go like we don't.
- 13:29[SPEAKER_01]: We don't lose things like there's nostalgia for that.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_01]: If they'll say if it feels comfortable, even though it's uncomfortable, right?
- 13:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like it feels careful and doesn't have as much fear.
- 13:36[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, time goes on, right?
- 13:39[SPEAKER_01]: I end up managing a store and like, I'm gonna just use, excuse me, for the high-end fitness company that I switched my life over to.
- 13:47[SPEAKER_01]: They heard about my management experience.
- 13:49[SPEAKER_01]: They saw the great teacher that I was as a baby instructor but like the potential that I had and like,
- 13:55[SPEAKER_01]: I kept climbing the ranks much like I didn't read up, kept getting promoted, kept getting promoted and I just felt like a big fish in a small pond.
- 14:01[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like I got lots of accolades and people at the top of the company knew who I was similar to my last job.
- 14:08[SPEAKER_01]: So I had grown to this new identity.
- 14:11[SPEAKER_01]: But in doing all of that, I've written a book, and it's called Prophecy Plies, everything with the exercises, and people were reading it, and they're running coaching calls.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_01]: And I had this studio where I was renting space, but I could make a little bit extra cash, and then I had retreat.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_01]: So like, here we are, you know, this is now around the 2015 time.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_01]: My book had been out for a while, sort of business coaching, and I had really grown as high up as I could at the time, with the skillsets that I had,
- 14:37[SPEAKER_01]: for this company.
- 14:38[SPEAKER_01]: And I was feeling the same resentment.
- 14:41[SPEAKER_01]: It came back.
- 14:43[SPEAKER_01]: So here I come to this new version myself.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_01]: Paladies teacher and then Paladies teacher trainer and then Paladies studio manager and then Paladies regional manager and Paladies business coach.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_01]: And Paladies teacher renter and I had like, I could tell that I was outgrowing this again.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_01]: I was outgrowing myself again.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_01]: I could feel the repetitive resentments, the frustrations, the overwhelming,
- 15:07[SPEAKER_01]: And I was getting exhausted because I wanted to be coaching more people in their business, but I had to run nine other businesses and the teacher training program.
- 15:17[SPEAKER_01]: And so, I think, you know, what's interesting is that
- 15:22[SPEAKER_01]: Even though the signs were the same that I was growing a version of myself, it doesn't mean that like I fell into the last version myself.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_01]: I definitely became the plies instructor and the studio owner, all those things.
- 15:33[SPEAKER_01]: But as she grew and she got more information, she was figuring who she was and and and I hate talking to the third person like that.
- 15:39[SPEAKER_01]: So sorry, I'm going that.
- 15:40[SPEAKER_01]: But like as she was doing those things,
- 15:43[SPEAKER_01]: She got more clear on what she wanted and what she no longer needed.
- 15:46[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that's really important when you're starting out growing yourself like there's something that you're doing because you always have done them, they don't need them anymore, you know?
- 15:56[SPEAKER_01]: And so like,
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: While I took all these promotions, part of it was because I wanted this salary because I wanted certainty still, and I wanted the health insurance, but like I'd gotten to a place where I was understanding the business enough to truly understand that I didn't need those safety nets anymore, that I could make them myself, and so I just outgrown.
- 16:16[SPEAKER_01]: I'll grow in that version of me too.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_01]: What's interesting is in 2015.
- 16:22[SPEAKER_01]: I did things a little bit different.
- 16:24[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't do the hey, I'm going to do this and you do I'll be here for that.
- 16:28[SPEAKER_01]: No, I sat down and did some math with my husband.
- 16:30[SPEAKER_01]: Then he was my fiance.
- 16:32[SPEAKER_01]: We figured out what step thing to take in my own personal business so that I could let go of something.
- 16:38[SPEAKER_01]: And we made it like data over vibes.
- 16:41[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's really important because as we outgrow versions of ourselves, sometimes we are going off of vibes and trying to make reasons about how things we feel.
- 16:51[SPEAKER_01]: And you know what we gotta have our head and get into the stats and just write down the evidence like what is real?
- 16:58[SPEAKER_01]: What is really happening?
- 16:59[SPEAKER_01]: Where am I going with this?
- 17:00[SPEAKER_01]: How is this going to happen?
- 17:02[SPEAKER_01]: And so I went from being this person who wouldn't it to help everybody?
- 17:05[SPEAKER_01]: and support the mentor that I had and be on this big team and be a team player, and truly watch this company continue to grow and make it become impact in their space to go and I want to make my own impact.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I want to be a bigger deal.
- 17:20[SPEAKER_01]: And so, they're scary to like want to be a fish and a bigger pond.
- 17:24[SPEAKER_01]: And I definitely worried like, oh my gosh, like, is anyone who ain't him when I do this?
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: But I did it.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_01]: I got rid of the management gig in 2015.
- 17:34[SPEAKER_01]: And I did sound for a little bit for the teacher training because I actually really enjoyed it.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_01]: But I will say in 2016 that resentment was starting to grow in and I was like, oh, here it is.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, here it is.
- 17:45[SPEAKER_01]: And I sort of just quitting things just quitting this and quitting that I quit my retail, put my as a head of commercial agent.
- 17:52[SPEAKER_01]: I had a modeling agent.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I'm quitting that I'm putting this.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I was shedding because I was like, I.
- 17:58[SPEAKER_01]: I, to, to go into the next thing that I'm doing, I can't have any distractions.
- 18:03[SPEAKER_01]: And so that was really different.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_01]: So instead of going from like being an employee and retail to being an employee in Pilates, I'm now going into like being my actual own business owner.
- 18:13[SPEAKER_01]: And to be that version of myself, I have to really lean into the things that I want to do and like go of all the other things.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_01]: And, you know, here's the thing, it is one thing to realize you've outgrown a version of yourself.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_01]: And it's another entirely different thing to let her go, because it's emotional, right?
- 18:34[SPEAKER_01]: Like, who knows, I'm like, I'm like seven, like five and seven years since.
- 18:41[SPEAKER_01]: But like, sometimes there's a 20 or something.
- 18:42[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes you are married for a long time and now you're divorced.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_01]: And so now you're in a new version of yourself there.
- 18:47[SPEAKER_01]: Like,
- 18:48[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sharing work out growing versions of myself, but like you can outgrow all you can you can be forced outgrow different things because change situations changed and you can make this decision yourself.
- 19:01[SPEAKER_01]: But either way, like we're all going to go through it and the hardest part is like letting that go without.
- 19:07[SPEAKER_01]: making a version of yourself wrong or having shame or thinking I should have done it sooner.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_01]: They definitely played that game.
- 19:13[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh my god, I should have just like quit sooner.
- 19:16[SPEAKER_01]: I should have, I should have taken that promotion.
- 19:19[SPEAKER_01]: When you reflect back, you can start to see how the science were there that you've outgrown what you're doing.
- 19:24[SPEAKER_01]: And
- 19:27[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, you're just grieving and grief has all those stages, right?
- 19:30[SPEAKER_01]: You have the anger and the sadness and the threat, like all the things, right?
- 19:35[SPEAKER_01]: So I think it's really important to feel those emotions and to feel the discomfort and to go through the grief because
- 19:43[SPEAKER_01]: If you don't let those things go, then you're just going to try to take them into the next version of yourself and that's not going to work and we'll talk more about that on Thursday and then also it leads to Being stuck, which is a series we're going to do and a couple of weeks.
- 19:57[SPEAKER_01]: So anyways, I hope that just sharing some of my stories of
- 20:03[SPEAKER_01]: different versions of myself, help you think about that, because I think what it could be really important is you reflect back on your life and the different versions you had, right, you've had.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_01]: I used to really feel like I needed
- 20:18[SPEAKER_01]: affirmations from other people that I was on the right path.
- 20:22[SPEAKER_01]: And I think it was around 2020 when we're all forced to be in different places that I was like, I do not need affirmations for other people that I'm on the right path because everyone thought I was so crazy that Brad and I were moving to Vegas by the house and thought that we're nuts out of our mind.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: best decision we ever made everyone so like oh my god thank god you did that can you believe you did that what a great timing that was yeah i can't believe because i didn't listen other people so there's these different versions of ourselves these version of our require certainty over our uncertainty or other people's opinions versus listening to our own gut and i think the beautiful thing is the older that we get.
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: And this is why I do think it's fun and beautiful to get old art.
- 20:58[SPEAKER_01]: Is that like, you know yourself so well, you actually it's actually easier for you to go, oh, that's not me anymore.
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not doing that anymore.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 21:05[SPEAKER_01]: I don't wear that anymore.
- 21:06[SPEAKER_01]: Those are not the right clothes.
- 21:08[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I was looking at my closet.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: There was a stress I haven't let go of because it's a Betsy Johnson.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: It was like one of the first designer clothes I bought.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: And I actually do think this dress is so beautiful.
- 21:19[SPEAKER_01]: And Betsy Johnson is like popular again.
- 21:21[SPEAKER_01]: This dress is like should just actually be in a museum.
- 21:25[SPEAKER_01]: It's so beautiful.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_01]: Because when I go to put it on, I'm like, this does not look like anything I would wear.
- 21:30[SPEAKER_01]: And so sometimes we don't realize that we've changed.
- 21:33[SPEAKER_01]: And then till we put it on an outfit that we've worn, and we're like, this is a me at all.
- 21:37[SPEAKER_01]: Right, so anyways, take some time to think about and reflect on how you've outgrown different things and then I would also say take some time to reflect like do you like how you did it knowing what you know now what would you do differently.
- 21:53[SPEAKER_01]: Have you outgrown a version of yourself that you didn't fully let or go?
- 21:57[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're trying to hold on.
- 21:59[SPEAKER_01]: All these things are really good questions to ask yourself because they will help us in our next episode.
- 22:02[SPEAKER_01]: So, and tell them my labs.
