- 0:00Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:07Speaker 2: What's up, everybody, Welcome to move the sticks. Dj rahtt
- 0:09Speaker 2: back with you. Bucky is in transit. He's coming back
- 0:13Speaker 2: from London after a pretty productive two weeks for him
- 0:15Speaker 2: in London. Right, two w's for the Jags.
- 0:17Speaker 3: Yeah, we'll get to it.
- 0:18Speaker 1: It's one of the games that I chose to kind
- 0:20Speaker 1: of take a peek at here Jags and Bills will
- 0:22Speaker 1: turn out. I think when we look back on this season,
- 0:24Speaker 1: this will turn out to be one of the pivotal
- 0:25Speaker 1: points of the year for the Jags to be able
- 0:28Speaker 1: to kind of come together for ten days in London
- 0:30Speaker 1: and come out go in two games under five hundred
- 0:33Speaker 1: and then to leave, you know, feeling pretty dang good
- 0:36Speaker 1: about yourselves. Winning two games is a pretty big deal.
- 0:39Speaker 2: Yeah, And again we'll get to that game and talk
- 0:40Speaker 2: about where they stand inside the division and what that
- 0:43Speaker 2: means for them going forward. But there was there's a
- 0:45Speaker 2: lot of games we want to get to. We always
- 0:47Speaker 2: try and pull out eight, So we've each got four
- 0:49Speaker 2: those and we'll tag on some of these other ones
- 0:51Speaker 2: at the very end. But I think we got to
- 0:53Speaker 2: start with where the week ended, at least when it
- 0:55Speaker 2: comes to Sunday. That was a time Man beat down.
- 1:00Speaker 2: You know, we talked about it last week where we
- 1:03Speaker 2: kind of went through that exercise. Bucke and I went
- 1:05Speaker 2: through that exercise of if he just took those two
- 1:07Speaker 2: teams and said, Okay, let's pick the players in an
- 1:09Speaker 2: open draft between the Niners and the Cowboys. Eight of
- 1:12Speaker 2: the ten top players were Niners. So you know, it
- 1:15Speaker 2: was like, We've built this up as this heavyweight matchup
- 1:18Speaker 2: and I'm like, nah, there are a lot of their
- 1:19Speaker 2: class in that one, just in terms of the sheer talent,
- 1:22Speaker 2: and I thought that showed up.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Yeah, what was it? Micah and Zach Martin?
- 1:27Speaker 2: We had Micah. There's a funny story about the Zach
- 1:29Speaker 2: Martin thing. So it was Micah and we ended up
- 1:31Speaker 2: having CD. So I was talking. I was doing the
- 1:35Speaker 2: post game last night and our buddy Chris Wurtz producers
- 1:38Speaker 2: in there and he's a big Cowboy fan, and I
- 1:40Speaker 2: was telling him this, you know, the story about before
- 1:43Speaker 2: the game started, about how it looks good on paper,
- 1:46Speaker 2: and he's like, well, Zach Martin made it right, and
- 1:48Speaker 2: I'm like, you know what, he was right, right, there,
- 1:50Speaker 2: but at this point in time, we didn't have them.
- 1:52Speaker 2: So I rattle off the names of the guys that
- 1:55Speaker 2: made it from the Niners, and we had George Kittle.
- 1:57Speaker 2: He's like, really George Kittle over Zach Martin, really really,
- 2:01Speaker 2: So he leaves the room. He comes back right after
- 2:05Speaker 2: the first touchdown scored and he goes, how what happened?
- 2:07Speaker 2: Who scored? I go, well, it wasn't Zach Martin.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Uh.
- 2:11Speaker 2: The Kittle goes on to score three. So but I
- 2:15Speaker 2: mean again, and that's eight of the top ten and
- 2:17Speaker 2: we didn't even have We didn't have Drake Greenlaw, we
- 2:19Speaker 2: didn't have Ayuklit. You could make a case that they,
- 2:21Speaker 2: you know, belong in that discussion. So even if you
- 2:23Speaker 2: went beyond ten, I mean, say you go fifteen, it
- 2:27Speaker 2: might be eleven to four, maybe you know, h twelve
- 2:30Speaker 2: to three, eleven to four, like it was lopsided. And
- 2:32Speaker 2: I want to get to a couple of things on
- 2:35Speaker 2: the quarterbacks here, and let's start on the good side
- 2:37Speaker 2: with Brock, because it has been you know, it's been
- 2:40Speaker 2: quite the I think it's a fun debate that people
- 2:43Speaker 2: have had where if you take if you take Brock
- 2:45Speaker 2: pretty out of this element and put him somewhere else.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Does this all work? Is he a pure system quarterback?
- 2:50Speaker 2: Does this? You know? Is is this more him? Is
- 2:53Speaker 2: it more Shanahan? Is he just kind of a cog
- 2:55Speaker 2: in this machine? And the way I've come down on it,
- 2:59Speaker 2: especially after watching the tape, he's perfect for what they're doing.
- 3:03Speaker 2: So let's just leave it at what it is, Like,
- 3:05Speaker 2: it's irrelevant. It's a barbershop conversation. Oh if you would
- 3:09Speaker 2: have gone here, if him and decks which places, those
- 3:11Speaker 2: are all fine and dandy. He is perfect, Like, I
- 3:14Speaker 2: don't know if there's a better player to operate what
- 3:17Speaker 2: they're doing than he is. And when I watch the tape, like, okay,
- 3:21Speaker 2: there are a lot of guys running free. There's guys
- 3:23Speaker 2: running wide open, and he still puts it on the
- 3:25Speaker 2: upfield shoulders so they can still run with it. He
- 3:27Speaker 2: still gets the ball out on time, so he's taking
- 3:28Speaker 2: the layups. In this game, there were three maybe four
- 3:33Speaker 2: in cuts where they're rushing three and four, dropping seven
- 3:37Speaker 2: or eight. There is a lot of traffic in the
- 3:39Speaker 2: middle of the field, and he still navigates the ball
- 3:41Speaker 2: beautifully in there. So he made three or four graduate
- 3:45Speaker 2: level throws that were you know, the vast majority. Yeah,
- 3:48Speaker 2: they're schemed up and they've got guys free and clear,
- 3:50Speaker 2: but not only is hitting those. Now you're starting to
- 3:52Speaker 2: get the two, three, four of those pretty nice throws
- 3:55Speaker 2: that you got to give him a lot of credit for.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I would agree with you.
- 3:58Speaker 1: I think it's it's probably a disservice to what he's
- 4:01Speaker 1: doing to kind of continue mentioning him as like, oh,
- 4:05Speaker 1: the underdog that you know that that did well, and
- 4:08Speaker 1: you know, I'm like, no, no, no, this this is we're
- 4:10Speaker 1: talking about one of the best quarterbacks in the league
- 4:12Speaker 1: here right now in the way that he operates in
- 4:14Speaker 1: this offense. I mean that throw on the run to
- 4:15Speaker 1: Kittle in the in the back of the end zone,
- 4:18Speaker 1: like that's I mean, you know, I know Kittle was
- 4:20Speaker 1: fairly open there, but that's still a pretty big time
- 4:23Speaker 1: throw on the move that way to be that accurate
- 4:26Speaker 1: with it as he's kind of getting closer to the sideline,
- 4:29Speaker 1: and there was a number of them, as you mentioned,
- 4:30Speaker 1: and I just I think we're talking about, you know,
- 4:33Speaker 1: a guy who absolutely understands what is expected of him,
- 4:38Speaker 1: what he needs to do down in, down out, and
- 4:41Speaker 1: then with all the talent to execute it, like enough talent.
- 4:44Speaker 3: To execute it. Sure does he could he throw.
- 4:46Speaker 1: It a mile like you know, like Josh Allen, Probably not,
- 4:49Speaker 1: but does he need to?
- 4:50Speaker 3: Probably not. So I mean, like it's just all the things.
- 4:54Speaker 1: In the talent and the skill set that he has
- 4:56Speaker 1: fits perfectly as you said, and I would say that
- 4:58Speaker 1: he is elevated the offense, probably more so than quarterbacks
- 5:04Speaker 1: who have been with Kyle Shanahan in that offense since
- 5:07Speaker 1: he's been in San Francisco, right, I mean, like, so
- 5:09Speaker 1: that tells you something about the skill set because they've
- 5:11Speaker 1: always had pretty good talent out there, and I think
- 5:16Speaker 1: Party's taken them to a new level.
- 5:17Speaker 2: So there's again I'm not going to compare him to
- 5:20Speaker 2: the greatest of all time here because I know obviously
- 5:23Speaker 2: where he's playing. Joe Montana gets a lot of mention
- 5:25Speaker 2: just how efficient and accurate they play similarly, But I
- 5:28Speaker 2: was thinking about Tom Brady, and there's some similarities and
- 5:31Speaker 2: some differences. Obviously Brady's much bigger guy, but you know
- 5:34Speaker 2: how you have the late round picks, you have you know,
- 5:36Speaker 2: immediate success once you're thrust into the starting lineup. But
- 5:38Speaker 2: I was thinking, remember with Brady. The conversation early in
- 5:41Speaker 2: his career was okay, the defense kind of carries him,
- 5:45Speaker 2: you know, he does just not making mistakes. It's just
- 5:47Speaker 2: kind of how good is Tom Brady? How good is
- 5:50Speaker 2: Tom Brady? And then you know, as we know, once
- 5:53Speaker 2: they put Randy Moss in there, and it was like,
- 5:55Speaker 2: holy crap. Now you get to see him with all
- 5:58Speaker 2: you know, with all this talent, and it's historic in
- 6:01Speaker 2: terms of how good he was. This is different than
- 6:03Speaker 2: that brock Purty's kind of entering into a team with
- 6:06Speaker 2: a major talent advantage over everybody else. And I feel
- 6:10Speaker 2: like we're Brady got the stamp of approval once we
- 6:12Speaker 2: saw him with talent, We're like, holy crap, this is amazing.
- 6:15Speaker 2: I think you're almost going to have to subtract some
- 6:18Speaker 2: pieces from this forty nine or team before brock Purdy
- 6:21Speaker 2: will get the full endorsement of how good he is.
- 6:26Speaker 1: I guess, I guess you're right there, because you want
- 6:27Speaker 1: to see him elevate talent that's perceived as less than
- 6:32Speaker 1: right than they would have had before, which you know,
- 6:34Speaker 1: and I know you'll get to it here with the Patriots,
- 6:37Speaker 1: but no elevating what they going on right now as
- 6:40Speaker 1: you bring the poshing back together. And I don't know
- 6:42Speaker 1: that anybody could you know, as you said on Game
- 6:46Speaker 1: Day final last night.
- 6:47Speaker 2: No, we'll get there. I want to get to the
- 6:49Speaker 2: other side with the other quarterbacks here. We were talking
- 6:50Speaker 2: about this a little bit before we came on. I
- 6:52Speaker 2: have my buddy Bill Smith, who does a wonderful job
- 6:55Speaker 2: with next Gen kind of running that whole program which
- 6:59Speaker 2: gives you all of the GPS stuff, And I said, okay,
- 7:02Speaker 2: it's one thing to come on our pod and talk
- 7:05Speaker 2: like we do and say, you know, Goush, I don't
- 7:07Speaker 2: know that Dak looks like he's lost some twitch and
- 7:10Speaker 2: he's lost some explosiveness. And there's how do you know?
- 7:13Speaker 2: In years past, how would you really quantify They say, oh,
- 7:15Speaker 2: he's not his rushing yards, aren't this that? Or the
- 7:17Speaker 2: ooh those are opportunity based. That doesn't necessarily tell you
- 7:19Speaker 2: about his skill set. But now that we have the
- 7:22Speaker 2: GPS information, I think you can glean something from it.
- 7:26Speaker 2: So I had Bill Powett. I'll give you a couple
- 7:28Speaker 2: numbers here, just from when he entered the league in
- 7:30Speaker 2: twenty sixteen, when he got his top speed in twenty
- 7:34Speaker 2: sixteen was nineteen point four to nine mph. This year
- 7:39Speaker 2: it's seventeen point twenty four. Okay, speed at the line
- 7:41Speaker 2: of scrimmage, meaning you know what's the speed when you
- 7:43Speaker 2: get to the line of scrimmage. That's more suddenness, that's
- 7:45Speaker 2: more more twitch based his first year thirteen point two
- 7:49Speaker 2: to one, this year nine point five to five. So
- 7:51Speaker 2: that suddenness, that burst to be able to escape, get away,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you know, make something happen. It's just not it's not
- 7:58Speaker 2: really you know where it was that the uh the
- 8:01Speaker 2: average speed from eleven point four to one uh down
- 8:04Speaker 2: to seven point three five. So again, you can make
- 8:08Speaker 2: numbers say what you want him to say, but I
- 8:11Speaker 2: think it's it's pretty consistent when you look at the numbers,
- 8:14Speaker 2: and he's as you would expect with the injuries that
- 8:17Speaker 2: he's had and the lower leg injuries that you're going
- 8:19Speaker 2: to be sapped of some of that explosiveness. And I
- 8:21Speaker 2: think that was you know, that was some of what
- 8:24Speaker 2: made him so dangerous, was because if you watch the
- 8:28Speaker 2: Eagles play, we'll get to them in a little bit.
- 8:30Speaker 2: You know, it's third and four. It's dude, that's a
- 8:33Speaker 2: that's a nightmare when you've got to deal with Jalen
- 8:35Speaker 2: Hurts can take off and get you easy six yards
- 8:38Speaker 2: anytime he wants. Dak was that guy, He's not really
- 8:40Speaker 2: that guy right now.
- 8:42Speaker 3: And that's all GPS data from games, right.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Yes, yes, correct, So I would be really curious to
- 8:47Speaker 1: see what the practice stuff looks like too, and what
- 8:49Speaker 1: it looked like in training camp and whether it it
- 8:51Speaker 1: kind of mirrored that. You know, it could also be
- 8:54Speaker 1: you know, even lower based on you know, how they
- 8:56Speaker 1: actually you know, how how hard they're actually going in practice.
- 8:59Speaker 1: But yeah, that I mean, I think that is kind
- 9:01Speaker 1: of telling. And but you know, it's kind of like
- 9:05Speaker 1: a similar thing to what the Patriots are going through,
- 9:09Speaker 1: and that like at least you know, Dak's got CD Lamb,
- 9:12Speaker 1: who's an elite receiver in this league, right, But like
- 9:14Speaker 1: if CD's not doing it, who do they rely on
- 9:17Speaker 1: in the past game.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Well, they don't even use Brandon Cooks. I mean, yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 2: they don't fill the ball down the field. I mean
- 9:22Speaker 2: they really was like two shots that they took down
- 9:24Speaker 2: the field. One was really late. So you're not beating
- 9:27Speaker 2: you know, look the forty nine ers. If you think
- 9:29Speaker 2: you're going to beat them six to eight yards at
- 9:31Speaker 2: a time, there's no chance, you got no chance.
- 9:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and then like they're you know, for the majority
- 9:37Speaker 1: of this season, I felt like the Cowboys had been
- 9:39Speaker 1: really committed to running the football, even when it wasn't
- 9:44Speaker 1: necessarily you know, you weren't necessarily getting four or five
- 9:46Speaker 1: yards of pop, they were still sticking with it.
- 9:49Speaker 3: And in this game they.
- 9:50Speaker 2: Even try early. I mean they just came out throwing.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Yeah, it was, it was. It was totally different.
- 9:55Speaker 1: And that's and then we saw the interceptions from Dak
- 9:56Speaker 1: go way back up, you know, with three of them. So,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you know, it felt like a little bit of diversion
- 10:01Speaker 1: from the formula for the Cowboys. And obviously the formula
- 10:07Speaker 1: is what wins weekend and week out for the forty
- 10:09Speaker 1: nine ers.
- 10:09Speaker 2: You know, it's just no question. Funny Fred Warner, I mean,
- 10:15Speaker 2: that was a he was a human highlight film in
- 10:17Speaker 2: that game.
- 10:17Speaker 3: Corner Green Law.
- 10:18Speaker 2: It was, it was, it was outstanding. Last number on
- 10:21Speaker 2: deck is his his rookie year at twenty six carries
- 10:25Speaker 2: of over fifteen miles per hour. This year he's got two,
- 10:28Speaker 2: so he's on pace for eight or nine.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Now, I wonder how much how much of that do
- 10:32Speaker 1: you think is also just because that offensive line was
- 10:35Speaker 1: in so much of a so much like a much
- 10:37Speaker 1: better position when he came into the league, right with
- 10:41Speaker 1: you know, Tyler Smith's five years younger, whatever it is,
- 10:44Speaker 1: it's za Martin still had the Travis Frederick. Yeah, Lyle
- 10:50Speaker 1: Collins in there, you know, playing good ball. And so
- 10:54Speaker 1: I don't know, I think that's part of it. And
- 10:56Speaker 1: I think they're gonna have to spend a ton more
- 10:58Speaker 1: resources like to keep bolstering that offensive line as they
- 11:02Speaker 1: go forward.
- 11:03Speaker 2: No doubt. All right, you mentioned it at the top
- 11:05Speaker 2: here at the game in London, Buck was there? Jags
- 11:08Speaker 2: Bills Man big big, big, big, big, big win for
- 11:11Speaker 2: the Jags.
- 11:11Speaker 3: Oh man, just huge.
- 11:13Speaker 1: I mean we talked about it last week like if
- 11:15Speaker 1: you if we kind of you know, we fast forwarded
- 11:17Speaker 1: and the Jags find a way to beat the Bills
- 11:19Speaker 1: again and talked about it at the top, like you
- 11:21Speaker 1: look back on this as being a key point in
- 11:23Speaker 1: the season, no question about it. And and so for
- 11:25Speaker 1: the Bills came off a huge win right over the Dolphins,
- 11:28Speaker 1: kind of settled down that explosive offense and the Bills
- 11:31Speaker 1: offense was rolling.
- 11:32Speaker 3: Josh Allen is playing.
- 11:33Speaker 1: Really good ball, taking care of the football, and you know,
- 11:37Speaker 1: in this game it felt like it was kind of
- 11:38Speaker 1: snake bit from the start. You know, Matt Mulano, who
- 11:41Speaker 1: has arguably been their MVP on defense right in the
- 11:44Speaker 1: last so far this season, is a really good off
- 11:47Speaker 1: ball linebacker. He gets hurt and likely done for the year,
- 11:50Speaker 1: seeing the way that he went out. Greg Russeau was
- 11:53Speaker 1: out of this game. Tredevious White, you know, already out
- 11:55Speaker 1: for the season with the Achilles Von Miller was just
- 11:58Speaker 1: coming back. And so you're thinking, right, well, shoot, the
- 12:00Speaker 1: Bills need somebody to step up, and they I mean,
- 12:06Speaker 1: oh my gosh, a couple of sacks, I mean the strip,
- 12:09Speaker 1: the recovery. I think that's going to actually be pretty
- 12:13Speaker 1: exciting if he can continue that level of play.
- 12:16Speaker 2: When Von he's always been, He's always been in the
- 12:19Speaker 2: leaders and get off. By the way we preached on here,
- 12:21Speaker 2: he's always way up there above up in your like
- 12:24Speaker 2: his how was he in that neighborhood? He's always doing
- 12:26Speaker 2: He wasn't a finisher, No, he can get off and
- 12:28Speaker 2: go though, yeah.
- 12:29Speaker 1: Exactly, And so you definitely saw that really put it
- 12:33Speaker 1: all together. But I think what it comes down to
- 12:35Speaker 1: despite you know, epinessa trying to wreck the game for
- 12:38Speaker 1: the Bills defense is Doug Peterson, Press Taylor, Trevor Lawrence.
- 12:42Speaker 1: I mean, you want to talk about a well balanced
- 12:45Speaker 1: offensive attack four hundred and seventy four yards, and they
- 12:48Speaker 1: kept the Bills guessing, it felt like, and when they
- 12:50Speaker 1: needed to gash them, they were gashing them etn averaging
- 12:53Speaker 1: five yards of pop on twenty six carries. That's a
- 12:56Speaker 1: ton of volume to stay up that high on yards
- 12:58Speaker 1: per carry. Include the thirty five yard TD run at
- 13:01Speaker 1: the end that basically iced it. Although the Bills would
- 13:04Speaker 1: get the ball back a couple of times, but that
- 13:06Speaker 1: made it a two score game with under four minutes
- 13:08Speaker 1: to play, and then the Bills weren't able to get
- 13:11Speaker 1: the on side kick, So and then it comes down
- 13:13Speaker 1: to this.
- 13:13Speaker 3: For Trevor Lawrence, I think we kind of.
- 13:16Speaker 1: You know, criticized a little bit that he was not
- 13:18Speaker 1: playing up to his standard that he had set the
- 13:21Speaker 1: year before, right, had not been elevating in the progression
- 13:24Speaker 1: that we kind of expected from him early in the year.
- 13:26Speaker 1: He was at his best when his best was required,
- 13:28Speaker 1: and that was on a third and four with you know,
- 13:32Speaker 1: essentially the game on the line, giving it back to
- 13:34Speaker 1: the Bills with a chance to go down and make
- 13:36Speaker 1: a game of it. And on a third and four
- 13:38Speaker 1: he gets a zero look and has Calvin Ridley on
- 13:41Speaker 1: a little slot go ball that ends up kind of
- 13:43Speaker 1: fading out to the sideline and you could not have
- 13:46Speaker 1: placed it or thrown it any better. Like that is
- 13:49Speaker 1: why he was the generational talent. Throws like that. And
- 13:53Speaker 1: there were a couple of thems in this game he had,
- 13:55Speaker 1: like his mechanics on that was a quick three step
- 13:57Speaker 1: drop ban, backfoot hips, backfoot hits, and that ball is
- 14:00Speaker 1: out and he gets smashed too with a free rusher
- 14:03Speaker 1: and he just, you know, just calmly delivers the throat
- 14:06Speaker 1: of the day, which I just I.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Thought that was really cool.
- 14:09Speaker 1: And I think Lawrence and the Jags together now kind
- 14:12Speaker 1: of turned the page on this season.
- 14:13Speaker 2: It feels like, yeah, and look, Calvin Ridley was a
- 14:17Speaker 2: third down machine and they kept getting one on ones
- 14:20Speaker 2: and it's just like, you know, I feel like you
- 14:23Speaker 2: want to be a quarterback and you think about, oh,
- 14:24Speaker 2: I gotta be able to process information. I'm gonna get
- 14:27Speaker 2: one to two to three, like you get to some
- 14:28Speaker 2: key third downs if you can, just if you just
- 14:30Speaker 2: run the ball enough where you're not having to face
- 14:33Speaker 2: third and twelves, you know, and you can dial up
- 14:35Speaker 2: some of that man coverage. Not many corners going to
- 14:37Speaker 2: be able to match up with Calvin Ridley. There's no
- 14:39Speaker 2: need to look anywhere else. Just let him go to work.
- 14:41Speaker 2: If you're gonna get those one on ones. It feels
- 14:43Speaker 2: like doing the Charger games. I see it with Keenan Allen,
- 14:45Speaker 2: Like there's certain downs where it's like, ah progression, most
- 14:47Speaker 2: put that aside. This play this is just this is
- 14:49Speaker 2: Keenan Allen. He's gonna win and I'm gonna get him
- 14:51Speaker 2: the ball. And Calvin Ridley was that way on the
- 14:53Speaker 2: other side. I will give the bill some hope here. Man,
- 14:55Speaker 2: that's tough. They get over there for what you know,
- 14:58Speaker 2: fifty hours days. Yeah, I mean the formula. Man, I
- 15:01Speaker 2: didn't like that. So there's there's it's it's odd, you know,
- 15:04Speaker 2: it's an odd situation. You're going to London to play
- 15:07Speaker 2: that game. Uh did not go well for them, but
- 15:09Speaker 2: five sacks, you know, von Miller sprinkling him back in
- 15:12Speaker 2: epinessa is starting to take off. They'll get Rousseau back.
- 15:15Speaker 2: I still think this defense built front to back, is
- 15:18Speaker 2: got a chance to They're gonna they're gonna keep them
- 15:20Speaker 2: in just about every ball game. So you know they're
- 15:21Speaker 2: they're gonna they're gonna be fine. I'm not going to
- 15:23Speaker 2: overreact to that loss on their side of things, all right.
- 15:26Speaker 2: Speaking of big wins, the Eagles come out West and
- 15:29Speaker 2: they take on the Rams in a game that was
- 15:30Speaker 2: really close early on. I think Cooper Cup had fourteen
- 15:33Speaker 2: catches on the on the opening drive or something like that.
- 15:35Speaker 2: I mean it, like every ball it's go on his way. Uh,
- 15:39Speaker 2: you know, yeah, it's been realzy. Option route, option route,
- 15:42Speaker 2: option route. Hey, let's try option route. Yeah. He had
- 15:44Speaker 2: seven for a buck eighteen.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Uh.
- 15:46Speaker 2: Pokinaku had seven seventy one in a touchdown. But this
- 15:49Speaker 2: game was about two things. Number One, the Eagles pass
- 15:52Speaker 2: rush heated up in the second half and kind of
- 15:54Speaker 2: swallowed up this passing game. And Stafford I don't think
- 15:57Speaker 2: they couldn't do anything in the second half after coming
- 15:59Speaker 2: out moving the ball well. And then on the other
- 16:02Speaker 2: side of the ball, Jalen Hurts was locked in man.
- 16:06Speaker 2: And it's similar to Purty in that I almost call
- 16:09Speaker 2: him Purty plus because they do bake in some easy
- 16:12Speaker 2: ones that you know, they have a great design, They
- 16:14Speaker 2: have a ton of weapons, they have a great offensive line,
- 16:17Speaker 2: so they can get the looks that they want and
- 16:19Speaker 2: they bake in, you know, ten to twelve of those
- 16:21Speaker 2: easy layup throws. But then he makes three or four
- 16:24Speaker 2: where now you're seeing this version of Jalen Hurts who's
- 16:27Speaker 2: manipulating safeties and just kind of playing that graduate level football.
- 16:32Speaker 2: And then every time they get a first down, it's
- 16:34Speaker 2: first to nine. I mean it is it's just a
- 16:37Speaker 2: it's a huge advantage of one third and one. It's over,
- 16:41Speaker 2: so you only got to get nine yards to get
- 16:44Speaker 2: a first down, and it's it's impressive. And they ran
- 16:47Speaker 2: him a bunch in this ball game. A lot of
- 16:49Speaker 2: design quarterback runs. It's still it's such an advantage because
- 16:52Speaker 2: we talk about the young quarterbacks right use your legs
- 16:55Speaker 2: to buy time before you can develop into a passer.
- 16:57Speaker 2: But normally we see it, and you've seen it kind
- 16:59Speaker 2: of with Lamon. You kind of graduate from all the
- 17:01Speaker 2: running and you want to do less and less of it.
- 17:03Speaker 2: The Eagles have managed to develop him as a passer
- 17:06Speaker 2: but then not have to sacrifice what he does in
- 17:08Speaker 2: the run game. It's it's it's pretty impressive.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:12Speaker 1: And this is the you know, a game where Dallas
- 17:14Speaker 1: Goddard reminded everyone that he's still on this team too,
- 17:17Speaker 1: right with eight catches one hundred and seventeen yards and
- 17:19Speaker 1: we had like four for forty in the touchdown in
- 17:21Speaker 1: the opening drive, and you're like, holy smokes, yeah, no,
- 17:23Speaker 1: he is still there right with aj and with and
- 17:26Speaker 1: with DeVante Smith and Quez and then all the running
- 17:30Speaker 1: backs out of the backfield too. So I mean you're
- 17:33Speaker 1: talking about you know, really really good players at just
- 17:36Speaker 1: about every spot. I mean, Hassan Redick took the game
- 17:39Speaker 1: over at the end and shut the door right back
- 17:40Speaker 1: to back sacks on Stafford as they were, you know,
- 17:43Speaker 1: kind of still in the throes of their comeback bid.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But I think the encouraging thing for the Rams is
- 17:48Speaker 1: that again you got productive run game out of kyn Williams,
- 17:51Speaker 1: and then with Cooper Cup and Puka Nakua working together,
- 17:56Speaker 1: it did not affect Puka's no production and in fact
- 18:00Speaker 1: probably helped him a little bit too. And so you got,
- 18:03Speaker 1: you know, those two guys combined for fifteen catches two
- 18:05Speaker 1: hundred yards receiving and a touchdown like that's winning football,
- 18:09Speaker 1: you know, for the most part on offense, and they
- 18:12Speaker 1: just you know a little bit more. I think it
- 18:13Speaker 1: was a more of a limited possession game. You know,
- 18:16Speaker 1: they did have some you know, Stafford was it was
- 18:20Speaker 1: right over fifty percent completion, so they definitely had some.
- 18:23Speaker 3: They probably went back there.
- 18:25Speaker 1: But like you talking about the best team in the NFL,
- 18:26Speaker 1: you know, one of the top two teams in the
- 18:28Speaker 1: NFC Division.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Course, man, I think it's Week thirteen, we get Nineers Eagles.
- 18:32Speaker 2: That's gonna be fun.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Week thirteen and then probably NFC Championship game.
- 18:36Speaker 2: Jalen Carter is just a freak too, by the way. Yeah,
- 18:38Speaker 2: I mean those two sacks are ridiculous. Just his his
- 18:42Speaker 2: lateral quickness, like it's it's totally different than everybody else.
- 18:46Speaker 2: Like you just watched all the other defensive line and
- 18:48Speaker 2: you see how hard he can get left and how
- 18:50Speaker 2: quickly he can get back right club and he is
- 18:53Speaker 2: he is up the field. He got two sacks so
- 18:56Speaker 2: well on.
- 18:56Speaker 3: His Butcher Cox is out and you know they don't care.
- 18:59Speaker 2: They have so much depth, That's what I'm saying. It's
- 19:01Speaker 2: so much incredible. Uh Yeah, they're they're in they're in
- 19:05Speaker 2: a good spot there in Philly. All right, let's get
- 19:07Speaker 2: to this next one here, which man is I guess
- 19:10Speaker 2: this shouldn't be a surprise, but a comfortable win for
- 19:13Speaker 2: the Dolphins over the Giants.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Oh boy, yeah, it's uh, it is frustrating now for
- 19:19Speaker 1: the Giants. And let's just hope that with Daniel Jones
- 19:22Speaker 1: and that neck injury that he suffered late is not
- 19:24Speaker 1: something that kind of rekindled those concerns of the neck
- 19:27Speaker 1: injury from what was it a year or two ago,
- 19:30Speaker 1: You know that that forced some of the offseason issues.
- 19:32Speaker 1: So hope, hope for that for the Giants, and that
- 19:35Speaker 1: he can be healthy enough that they can still try
- 19:36Speaker 1: to figure this thing out and become a player at
- 19:38Speaker 1: some point in the NFC East. But they got to
- 19:41Speaker 1: get healthy on the offensive line. It's real trouble up there.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Oh not bad, man, it's bad.
- 19:45Speaker 3: It's bad.
- 19:45Speaker 1: I mean, look, they're missing they're missing three starters. You know,
- 19:47Speaker 1: there's not a whole lot of teams in the league
- 19:49Speaker 1: that can account for that kind of depth.
- 19:51Speaker 2: Those teams don't have five good ones.
- 19:53Speaker 3: That's exactly right. So they're talking about trying to have
- 19:55Speaker 3: eight starter, lever lever level players there and they don't.
- 19:58Speaker 1: But this is a this was explosed runs six explosive
- 20:01Speaker 1: runs to one for the Dolphins. I mean, I don't
- 20:04Speaker 1: know if there's a team that gets a hat on
- 20:06Speaker 1: a hat better than Miami does. And here's the thing,
- 20:09Speaker 1: like they don't need to engage for that long when
- 20:12Speaker 1: you have the speed that they.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Have back there.
- 20:15Speaker 1: I mean, I mean obviously they do creative stuff, right.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I mean, like one of the first explosives was you know,
- 20:20Speaker 1: you get Jalen Waddle comes in motion. He's lined up
- 20:23Speaker 1: to the right. I mean it's almost like they're faking
- 20:24Speaker 1: the give to the left to Waddle. They've got the
- 20:28Speaker 1: wing back as like a full back. He goes off
- 20:31Speaker 1: to the left to pretend like he's blocking that way.
- 20:33Speaker 1: And then I mean they're pulling linemen out to the right.
- 20:35Speaker 1: It's it's a chan coming around from the perimeter. I mean,
- 20:39Speaker 1: like they will dial it up, you know, with all
- 20:42Speaker 1: the creativity, but their best play is just a simple
- 20:46Speaker 1: zone run. Hat on a hat and a chan is
- 20:48Speaker 1: out the gate like that, you know. I mean, it's
- 20:52Speaker 1: the average ten yard to play for the entirety.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Of the game.
- 20:56Speaker 1: I think you do have to give some credit to
- 20:59Speaker 1: Kendall Lamb done a really nice job at left tackle
- 21:02Speaker 1: out he's an app State guy, Yes he is. Austin
- 21:06Speaker 1: Jackson right to Robert Hunt was a beast, and you
- 21:11Speaker 1: know what, you know what, he kind of reminds me
- 21:12Speaker 1: of Connor Williams back at center.
- 21:13Speaker 3: I think made a big difference, by the way, But
- 21:15Speaker 3: you know what it reminds me of.
- 21:16Speaker 1: You've been on one of those streets, like a kind
- 21:18Speaker 1: of a busy street, maybe a downtown setting.
- 21:20Speaker 3: Where there's just light after light after light after.
- 21:23Speaker 1: Light, and then you hit that thing just right and bam,
- 21:26Speaker 1: like all the greens hit him once and you're just cruising.
- 21:29Speaker 1: That's what eight chance got to feel like sometimes, like
- 21:31Speaker 1: when he gets the ball, because I mean like it's
- 21:33Speaker 1: like it just parts and he's gone.
- 21:36Speaker 3: You know what I mean.
- 21:37Speaker 2: See, that's the not what you were thinking of. I
- 21:39Speaker 2: was thinking of growing up when you'd have open gym
- 21:42Speaker 2: and you're hoping you have five on five, right, so
- 21:43Speaker 2: you're gonna pick teams and be like, oh man, we
- 21:45Speaker 2: only got eight guys, and then you end up playing
- 21:48Speaker 2: five on three because that's what the offensive line gets
- 21:51Speaker 2: to do because everybody is so paranoid about the big
- 21:53Speaker 2: plays in the passing game, you're gonna see light boxes.
- 21:56Speaker 2: So it's like, man, they blocked it up beautifully. Yeah,
- 21:58Speaker 2: we got we got five to locked their four. You know,
- 22:01Speaker 2: it's just the math is always going to be in
- 22:03Speaker 2: their favor in the run game. And the whole thing
- 22:06Speaker 2: is we always talk about if you can run the ball, man,
- 22:09Speaker 2: you got to pay that off with chunk plays in
- 22:11Speaker 2: the passing game. This is the exact opposite. They're so
- 22:14Speaker 2: dynamic in the passing game that now they're getting these
- 22:17Speaker 2: huge chunk plays in the run game. So and that's
- 22:20Speaker 2: you know, it's it's a nice adjustment, and it's a
- 22:23Speaker 2: nice scouting adjustment too. I give them a lot of
- 22:25Speaker 2: credit in the personnel department knowing, Okay, we're gonna get
- 22:28Speaker 2: these favorable looks with because of Waddle and Tyreek. Let's
- 22:32Speaker 2: let's let's punish people for playing that that look and
- 22:36Speaker 2: so let's get the freaking fastest running back we can find.
- 22:39Speaker 2: And they and they got them, and A Chan has
- 22:41Speaker 2: been awesome.
- 22:42Speaker 3: I mean, look at look.
- 22:43Speaker 1: At this just real quick, right, I mean, this is
- 22:46Speaker 1: this is one drive a Chan for eight A Chan
- 22:49Speaker 1: for fourteen, most for eleven, moster for twenty three, eight
- 22:53Speaker 1: Chan for six, eight Chan for.
- 22:55Speaker 3: Five, poster for six touchdown like stupid. It's it's incredible, but.
- 23:02Speaker 2: I mean again, make it look easy and it it
- 23:05Speaker 2: is so hats off to them. And then and then
- 23:08Speaker 2: by the way, I just do not understand, like the
- 23:11Speaker 2: Tyreek Hill deep ball on the go route that I'm
- 23:15Speaker 2: just I don't understand. You've got a safety who you're
- 23:18Speaker 2: using to walk down and bracket the believe was the
- 23:21Speaker 2: tight end or the slot whoever was down there. And
- 23:23Speaker 2: I'm sitting here going like credit this. This is like
- 23:26Speaker 2: you know when you have you yeah, you know when
- 23:28Speaker 2: you have little kids, right as you do, like, hey,
- 23:31Speaker 2: you got to go to the bathroom. Hey you got
- 23:32Speaker 2: to bring a buddy. Okay, you don't, you don't. You
- 23:35Speaker 2: don't go to the bathroom by yourself. Take take a
- 23:36Speaker 2: friend with you. Okay. If Tyreek Hill's out there in
- 23:39Speaker 2: your corner, bring a friend with you, bring a friend over,
- 23:42Speaker 2: don't don't don't go out there by yourself. And sure
- 23:44Speaker 2: as heck, don't walk up on him. If you have
- 23:47Speaker 2: nobody over the top, Like I am an advocate of,
- 23:50Speaker 2: try if you can get your hands on him, but
- 23:51Speaker 2: you've got help over the top if you can't do that.
- 23:53Speaker 2: If I got to go on a solo mission, I
- 23:55Speaker 2: am off and I'm still getting out of there, and
- 23:58Speaker 2: if he gets a hitch, I pray to guy, we
- 23:59Speaker 2: can all get. What I'm not gonna do is sit
- 24:02Speaker 2: there by myself and go toe to toe with him.
- 24:05Speaker 2: And oh, by the way, not even get a finger
- 24:06Speaker 2: on him. At the line of scrimmage.
- 24:07Speaker 3: It's over.
- 24:08Speaker 2: It's over. I didn't understand that one at all. So
- 24:11Speaker 2: that was again though the Giants playing shorthanded. It's a
- 24:14Speaker 2: rough year, rough start for.
- 24:16Speaker 1: Them, by the way, twenty two miles an hour for
- 24:19Speaker 1: Tyreek Hill, fastest fastest ball carrier this season, by the way.
- 24:22Speaker 3: On a play where he got caught. He actually got
- 24:24Speaker 3: caught on that play.
- 24:25Speaker 2: I know it was.
- 24:27Speaker 3: It's kind of weird. I was like, oh, man, it
- 24:28Speaker 3: didn't I.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Think might have been going laterally even though he made
- 24:31Speaker 2: that yeah, you know, yeah, he had to cover so
- 24:33Speaker 2: much distance. Anyways, all right, let's take quick break. We'll
- 24:36Speaker 2: come back. We'll talk about the entertaining game here between
- 24:39Speaker 2: the Chiefs and the Vikings. We'll do that right after
- 24:40Speaker 2: this all right, Ratt. The Chiefs do kind of what
- 24:47Speaker 2: they've been doing all year long. They don't look perfect.
- 24:50Speaker 2: It's twenty seven to twenty. They beat the Vikings, you know,
- 24:54Speaker 2: justin Jefferson ends up getting hurt. The Vikings could have
- 24:56Speaker 2: really used him late in this ball game. They had
- 24:58Speaker 2: a chance to go down and try and tie this
- 24:59Speaker 2: thing up up. I'll let you do it if you
- 25:02Speaker 2: want to. In terms of the controversy about whether that
- 25:04Speaker 2: should have been a penalty and then taking the helmet
- 25:06Speaker 2: off and all the other drama that went along with that,
- 25:09Speaker 2: I didn't really I mean to me is there's so
- 25:10Speaker 2: many other parts of this game that we're intriguing. Kelsey
- 25:14Speaker 2: gets hurt, thankfully came back in. But I watched the
- 25:17Speaker 2: tape of these guys all back to back to back,
- 25:19Speaker 2: So I watched I want to watch party. I watched
- 25:23Speaker 2: Jalen Hurts, who else? Gosh, there was like three or
- 25:27Speaker 2: four quarterbacks that I watched all back to back to back.
- 25:30Speaker 2: And then Mahomes was in. This was in this mix,
- 25:32Speaker 2: and I'm sitting here going like, man, I just love
- 25:34Speaker 2: the play design and how this thing set up, and
- 25:37Speaker 2: it's just so creative. All these other guys, and then
- 25:40Speaker 2: I put on Mahomes and yeah, he hit some there's
- 25:43Speaker 2: some back foot, you know, nice quick read stick throws.
- 25:46Speaker 2: But the magic with him is so different than all
- 25:49Speaker 2: these other guys of just all you know, coloring outside
- 25:52Speaker 2: the lines, like it's the gap. The gap between him
- 25:56Speaker 2: and everybody else on broken plays is enormous, and talk
- 26:00Speaker 2: about in the framework of the pocket, and you can
- 26:02Speaker 2: start having the tua and how Herbert's played at times,
- 26:04Speaker 2: and obviously Josh Allen he can do and Jalen hurts
- 26:07Speaker 2: and rock Perty's playing out of his mind. There is
- 26:10Speaker 2: no comparison when when the initial play breaks down, his
- 26:14Speaker 2: ability to see is incredible, Like I've never seen somebody
- 26:18Speaker 2: that's able to access the far reaches of the field
- 26:22Speaker 2: while going in the opposite direction and just to be
- 26:24Speaker 2: able to see it. Like when you're watching tape all
- 26:26Speaker 2: the time, you'll you'll freeze it and you'll be like, oh,
- 26:28Speaker 2: my guys, can you imagine if he could have got
- 26:30Speaker 2: all the way back over here, you know, the running
- 26:33Speaker 2: back had leaked out, but nobody can see that. But
- 26:35Speaker 2: somehow this guy does, Like it's crazy.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I mean, And then the trust he has in his
- 26:42Speaker 1: guys to make those plays into stay justin.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Watson throw yeah, I mean, good lord.
- 26:49Speaker 1: And I mean like for the for the Vikings. You know,
- 26:52Speaker 1: obviously they didn't run the ball worth anything in this game.
- 26:55Speaker 1: Cousins throws at forty seven times. Obviously, got to do
- 26:57Speaker 1: whatever you gotta do to win a game. But that seems,
- 27:01Speaker 1: you know a little bit, you know, the formula seems
- 27:04Speaker 1: a little bit off there in Minnesota. But Jordan Addison
- 27:07Speaker 1: played a nice game and they needed him, you know,
- 27:08Speaker 1: with Jefferson going out, you know, it just it felt like,
- 27:13Speaker 1: you know, this might have been the opportunity for Minnesota
- 27:16Speaker 1: with Kelsey a little bit less than but he comes
- 27:18Speaker 1: out and has one of the grittiest performances you'll see.
- 27:21Speaker 1: Catches the touchdown late ten, catches on the eleven targets,
- 27:24Speaker 1: and I mean just it's a tough dude right there.
- 27:27Speaker 1: And it's a tough team that's got You know, when
- 27:28Speaker 1: you have a team that can be as you know,
- 27:30Speaker 1: finesse as they want, but then have a little bit
- 27:32Speaker 1: of that grit and toughness too.
- 27:33Speaker 3: Obviously, the checko brings that.
- 27:34Speaker 1: In a run game, there's just a lot of different
- 27:37Speaker 1: ways that the Chiefs can find ways to win.
- 27:41Speaker 2: I'm going back through the Vikings last year, right, this
- 27:43Speaker 2: is a team that was thirteen and four, So you
- 27:47Speaker 2: go back through. I'll just give you some of their wins.
- 27:49Speaker 2: Twenty eight, twenty four, twenty eight, twenty five, twenty seventeen,
- 27:54Speaker 2: thirty three to thirty in overtime, twenty seven to twenty two,
- 27:57Speaker 2: thirty nine, thirty six in overtime, seven twenty four, like,
- 28:01Speaker 2: they literally won every close game, and as you would imagine,
- 28:06Speaker 2: this year, they've lost twenty to seventeen, thirty four to
- 28:09Speaker 2: twenty eight, twenty eight, twenty four, twenty seven to twenty
- 28:11Speaker 2: Almost all these games end with them with the ball
- 28:14Speaker 2: in their hands with a chance to go down and
- 28:16Speaker 2: try and win the ballgame or at least continue the
- 28:18Speaker 2: ball game, and all those plays they're able to get
- 28:20Speaker 2: last year, it hasn't happened this year, which gives me
- 28:23Speaker 2: credible hope as a Patter fan that everything's just going
- 28:25Speaker 2: to turn around for us next year.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Right, got everything going for you?
- 28:28Speaker 2: Lot of average is undefeated.
- 28:29Speaker 1: The wins, yeah yeah, and then it was obviously the
- 28:32Speaker 1: flip side for the Vikings this year.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it has not gone their way.
- 28:36Speaker 1: They're they're in trouble here at one and four. I
- 28:39Speaker 1: mean like you're losing ground quickly.
- 28:41Speaker 2: Well, as we're recording this, I don't know what the
- 28:42Speaker 2: severity is on the Jefferson injury, and that that is
- 28:45Speaker 2: the most individually wide out driven team. I love Addison,
- 28:50Speaker 2: he's playing great, but that offense runs through Jefferson and
- 28:53Speaker 2: then that makes everything work. So if he's out there
- 28:56Speaker 2: in big trouble, so hopefully it's not too bad.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Hamstring player, you know that that that that feels like
- 29:05Speaker 1: that's not something you can just tough through. You know,
- 29:07Speaker 1: if you're you're justin Jefferson, that's just that's gonna be
- 29:10Speaker 1: a tough one. I think for those guys.
- 29:12Speaker 2: All right, Steelers Ravens in the ugliest game of the
- 29:15Speaker 2: week seen.
- 29:17Speaker 1: This was crazy, man, because this looked like the Ravens
- 29:20Speaker 1: were on their way to blowing the Steelers out. Justice
- 29:23Speaker 1: Hill scores early and then it just turns into this
- 29:27Speaker 1: like comedy of errors for Baltimore.
- 29:30Speaker 2: I think they just dropped another pass by the way.
- 29:32Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, I mean, I think Adam with seven
- 29:35Speaker 1: seven seven, look at it started in the red zone.
- 29:38Speaker 1: Right second quarter, they have a first and goal from
- 29:40Speaker 1: the four and nothing, played to Zay Flowers. Then Mark
- 29:43Speaker 1: Andrews drops a touchdown. No look, it wasn't the easiest
- 29:46Speaker 1: of catches, but it's won a Pro Bowl. Tight end
- 29:48Speaker 1: like that makes you know, I'd say nine and a
- 29:49Speaker 1: half times out of ten. And then Bateman drops an
- 29:53Speaker 1: even cleaner one on the very next play from Lamar
- 29:56Speaker 1: and they have to settle for a field goal. Should
- 29:57Speaker 1: have been fourteen to nothing. Next possession, Justice Hill turns
- 30:00Speaker 1: into a Steelers field goal. Next possession, nineteen seconds to go,
- 30:04Speaker 1: fourth and two. They decide not to take the points
- 30:07Speaker 1: and they don't convert, and so they get no points.
- 30:09Speaker 1: They punt all the way through the third quarter, and
- 30:11Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter, their first possession gets blocked. Punt
- 30:15Speaker 1: gets blocked by Miles killer Brew ends up in a safety.
- 30:17Speaker 1: Steelers get a field goal out of the free kick,
- 30:19Speaker 1: so that's essentially a five point play right there. Then
- 30:23Speaker 1: they get the good fortune to force a fumble which
- 30:26Speaker 1: was really forced by Connor Hayward running into the punt
- 30:28Speaker 1: returner Gunn rol Zevsky, and they get the ball down
- 30:30Speaker 1: to the five yard line and Lamar's forces red What
- 30:35Speaker 1: was that to OBJ Like.
- 30:36Speaker 2: I don't know Joey Porter Junior and just swallowed the coverage.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but I just to look away from that, right,
- 30:42Speaker 1: and then you know, they give up a zero look
- 30:45Speaker 1: go ball, pick it to Pickens stripsack from high Smith,
- 30:48Speaker 1: and then it's essentially over and you're like, I mean,
- 30:52Speaker 1: they just they absolutely shot themselves in the foot all,
- 30:56Speaker 1: you know, for the entire second, you know, third and
- 30:59Speaker 1: fourth quarters, and the Steelers like, all right, if you've
- 31:00Speaker 1: gotta give it to us, we'll take it.
- 31:02Speaker 3: And that's how we got here.
- 31:05Speaker 2: This Steelers team kind of reminds me of some of
- 31:07Speaker 2: the some of the Patriot teams in the past, where
- 31:12Speaker 2: they kind of just sit and wait for you to
- 31:14Speaker 2: screw up. It's like they're not doing everything right. They're
- 31:17Speaker 2: just waiting for you to do something wrong. And then
- 31:19Speaker 2: when you do something wrong, there's gonna be just enough
- 31:21Speaker 2: they're going to capitalize on it and uh and win
- 31:23Speaker 2: a ball game. And the other thing is, man, if
- 31:26Speaker 2: you're the Ravens, I mean, the only thing you got
- 31:28Speaker 2: to worry about is pickings over the top. Like if
- 31:31Speaker 2: you make the Steelers have to, you know, gradually move
- 31:34Speaker 2: the ball down the field. They haven't proven they can
- 31:36Speaker 2: do that. And you leave Marlon Humphreys first game back
- 31:38Speaker 2: out there one on one with no help and that
- 31:40Speaker 2: was it. That was a wrap. But again it is
- 31:44Speaker 2: kind of discombobulated and as ugly as the as the
- 31:48Speaker 2: Steelers offense can look for large, large stretches man their
- 31:51Speaker 2: defense they are point producing defense. Is that that they
- 31:56Speaker 2: are not in the protection. They are in the TACA mode,
- 32:01Speaker 2: you know, but then they just take them away from them.
- 32:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I did, and did exactly what happened you right.
- 32:07Speaker 2: So, and again that that for those that haven't maybe
- 32:10Speaker 2: been to one of those games in person, like, there
- 32:13Speaker 2: is still some rivalry left in the NFL, and that's
- 32:15Speaker 2: as good as it gets.
- 32:16Speaker 3: I mean, there's a lot of them there in the always.
- 32:19Speaker 2: A physical, physical affair between those those teams, all right,
- 32:23Speaker 2: from from a close game to one that was not
- 32:26Speaker 2: the Saints and the Patriots thirty four to nothing. I
- 32:29Speaker 2: think you referenced it at the top rat So I'll
- 32:32Speaker 2: give you a quick recap of what I said last
- 32:35Speaker 2: night when on.
- 32:35Speaker 3: Which was dead on accurate.
- 32:38Speaker 2: I was asked, would it be different if they switched quarterbacks?
- 32:42Speaker 2: I said no, and I said, this is not this
- 32:45Speaker 2: is not a a pro mac Jones all in on
- 32:49Speaker 2: a Mac Jones statement. This is an indictment on what
- 32:53Speaker 2: is around him. This offensive line has been bad and
- 32:56Speaker 2: it was equal opportunity. When you watch the tape, you'll
- 32:59Speaker 2: see him all the way across the board getting beat
- 33:01Speaker 2: and getting beat early. You freeze it when you get
- 33:04Speaker 2: to the top of the drop. There's nowhere to go
- 33:05Speaker 2: with the football. There's nobody open the two picks. One
- 33:08Speaker 2: of them he gets drilled and that's a pick. The
- 33:12Speaker 2: receiver basically threw it to the dB. So I'm just
- 33:17Speaker 2: looking at this going he is, you know, we've talked
- 33:19Speaker 2: about it for years. Trucks and trailers. I'm not saying
- 33:21Speaker 2: Mac Jones is a truck. He's not a truck. There's
- 33:23Speaker 2: only a handful of trucks in this league that are
- 33:25Speaker 2: good enough to elevate the talent around him and they
- 33:27Speaker 2: can pull their team to victory. The rest of them
- 33:29Speaker 2: are trailers. They're dependent on what you have, and if
- 33:31Speaker 2: you have the pieces in place, they can operate, they
- 33:33Speaker 2: can get the vehicle where it needs to go. They
- 33:36Speaker 2: don't have it. They don't have the pieces in place
- 33:39Speaker 2: to be able to support a quarterback like Mac Jones,
- 33:41Speaker 2: and they don't have a quarterback on their roster that's
- 33:43Speaker 2: a top five quarterback in this league that's capable of
- 33:46Speaker 2: doing it. So I don't know what the answer is.
- 33:49Speaker 2: I just know, you know, well, how does it get better?
- 33:51Speaker 2: We gets better with better players. That's not going to
- 33:54Speaker 2: happen till you get to the offseason.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, there's nothing they can do at this point.
- 33:58Speaker 1: You know, it's try to you know, if this Patriots
- 34:02Speaker 1: team makes the playoffs, Bill Belichick will win Coach.
- 34:06Speaker 3: Of the Year.
- 34:07Speaker 1: Yeah, but right now, you know, the executive of the
- 34:11Speaker 1: Year title is kind of tough to deal with on
- 34:13Speaker 1: that side of things.
- 34:14Speaker 2: I mean, they had I think he had one hundred
- 34:16Speaker 2: and ten yards. Let me pull it up here, Mack
- 34:18Speaker 2: had one hundred and ten yards r att Thirty to
- 34:20Speaker 2: forty of them were in the two minute drill at
- 34:23Speaker 2: the end of the half where they're just giving him.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I mean they were like given to them. Like literally,
- 34:27Speaker 2: it was sixty to seventy yards of passing offense in
- 34:30Speaker 2: this game. Yeah.
- 34:31Speaker 1: Nothing, by the way, on the flip side for the Saints,
- 34:35Speaker 1: I mean, it wasn't like a hugely prolific day offensively.
- 34:39Speaker 1: I mean, Derek Carr threw for one hundred and eighty three.
- 34:41Speaker 1: They were in good field position and a lot of
- 34:42Speaker 1: times they ran the heck out of the ball. Kendre
- 34:44Speaker 1: Miller got twelve carries.
- 34:45Speaker 2: How about that?
- 34:46Speaker 1: So perhaps welcoming another rookie to the party in our
- 34:49Speaker 1: draft Tuesday drafts. So I kind of curious to see
- 34:53Speaker 1: if that continues. But Alvin Kamara ran the ball twenty
- 34:55Speaker 1: two times. I don't know how many games in his
- 34:57Speaker 1: career he's run the ball twenty two times.
- 35:00Speaker 2: But again, they have a formula. I mean, you play
- 35:01Speaker 2: the defense, and you play defense like that, just protect
- 35:04Speaker 2: the ball, run it be efficient. Michael Thomas made a
- 35:06Speaker 2: couple of nice plays that division is. It's kind of
- 35:09Speaker 2: interesting now when you look at Tampa way they've played.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Now Atlanta's back.
- 35:14Speaker 2: Atlanta, you know, shown some signs of life here, big
- 35:17Speaker 2: one for them, you know. I guess that'll take us
- 35:19Speaker 2: right into it. We can jump into the next game here,
- 35:21Speaker 2: which is the Falcons Texans game, which was back and forth,
- 35:24Speaker 2: back and forth, and then Ritter, I have to say,
- 35:26Speaker 2: rhet up to you to go here. But I would say,
- 35:29Speaker 2: by far the most impressed I've been with Desmond Ritter
- 35:31Speaker 2: in his young career.
- 35:33Speaker 3: I would agree.
- 35:33Speaker 1: And and and this is the headline I kind of
- 35:36Speaker 1: wrote on my notes was come back QBS, you know.
- 35:39Speaker 3: And it wasn't just Ritterer. I mean Stroud to plays too.
- 35:42Speaker 1: Yeah, And I think what we'll look at in this
- 35:44Speaker 1: game with the Texans will and I'll get to Ridder
- 35:45Speaker 1: here in a sect, but what the Texans will look
- 35:48Speaker 1: at is three field goals right in in the Falcons territory.
- 35:51Speaker 1: And then the fourth was you know, time running out
- 35:53Speaker 1: at the end of the first half, end up kicking one.
- 35:55Speaker 1: But you know, you look back at those three third downs, Yeah,
- 35:57Speaker 1: third and one, left side just gets beat. So had
- 36:00Speaker 1: Tunsel and Howard both playing the left side, both back
- 36:03Speaker 1: in the lineup for the first time this season together,
- 36:05Speaker 1: and it felt like it might have taken a second
- 36:07Speaker 1: for them to get there, get their bearings back, and
- 36:09Speaker 1: that was just they got beat. And so they get
- 36:11Speaker 1: they get stopped in short yards. They had a third
- 36:13Speaker 1: and fifteen, obviously they get backed up there and they
- 36:17Speaker 1: had to kick it, and then a.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Third and four.
- 36:18Speaker 1: Stroud's a little off on a tight window throw to Schultz.
- 36:21Speaker 1: So but then you go back to the to the
- 36:24Speaker 1: other the next third down that they had important one
- 36:26Speaker 1: at the end of the game. We absolutely had to
- 36:29Speaker 1: have it, you know, for the comeback. Right you're down
- 36:31Speaker 1: and you need the touchdown third and nine. I thought
- 36:34Speaker 1: this was a great play by Bobby Slowick because you
- 36:37Speaker 1: have a zone coverage look from Atlanta and they are
- 36:40Speaker 1: playing Those safeties are sitting right there at the sticks,
- 36:44Speaker 1: right at about ten to eleven yards, and they are
- 36:45Speaker 1: not moving.
- 36:46Speaker 3: There's no backpedal.
- 36:47Speaker 1: So Schultz runs a little like dig and go, gets
- 36:50Speaker 1: Jesse Bates to bite up, and it's a beautiful route,
- 36:53Speaker 1: beautiful move, and then CJ. Stroud's getting pressured, he's getting
- 36:56Speaker 1: the right tackles because right in his lap back foots
- 36:59Speaker 1: this thing just perfectly floats it into Schultz for the touchdown.
- 37:03Speaker 1: And you're like, all right, maybe the first comeback win
- 37:05Speaker 1: for CJ. Stroud, you know, on the road here, and
- 37:09Speaker 1: then you get rider career high three hundred and twenty
- 37:12Speaker 1: nine yards. I don't know if you had a chance
- 37:14Speaker 1: to watch that last drive, but that Texans defense was gassed.
- 37:18Speaker 1: I mean that play had they just had no pass rush,
- 37:21Speaker 1: they had nothing. And then you know that that throw
- 37:24Speaker 1: at Drake London, like everyone went up in. Everybody is
- 37:28Speaker 1: a two man It's a two man route versus a
- 37:30Speaker 1: four man zone from the hash to the sideline, and
- 37:34Speaker 1: Ridder just fits it right into London.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Just fourth game winning drive in nine starts.
- 37:41Speaker 2: He hasn't lost a home game in college of the NFL. Correct,
- 37:44Speaker 2: that's insane. Good for him, Good for him. I mean, look,
- 37:47Speaker 2: there's been some ugly, some ugly along with that, but
- 37:50Speaker 2: that was to me, this was his best and he
- 37:52Speaker 2: needed when he needed it. He was able to put
- 37:54Speaker 2: it all two games. Yeah, very nice. A couple of
- 37:57Speaker 2: the things we'll hit on here. That's the games we
- 37:59Speaker 2: did the deep on a couple of takeaways Bengals, big
- 38:03Speaker 2: win for them. I said it going into this game.
- 38:05Speaker 2: This is a huge two game stretch. This one. They've
- 38:07Speaker 2: got Seattle. I know Seattle's coming off of a bye,
- 38:10Speaker 2: but that's another winnable game. They could get to their
- 38:12Speaker 2: by which is after this next week at five hundred. So,
- 38:15Speaker 2: Joe Burrow, you survived the injury, you get to three
- 38:17Speaker 2: and three, you're right in the thick of it in
- 38:19Speaker 2: the division. You're still where you need to be in
- 38:21Speaker 2: the conference. Nobody has really run away from you. So
- 38:25Speaker 2: that's a. It sets up for a huge game with
- 38:26Speaker 2: them against the Seahawks next week. Burrow looked like he's
- 38:29Speaker 2: starting to round in a format. Ya. You can just
- 38:31Speaker 2: get to this win and then and get him a
- 38:34Speaker 2: little rest. Then I think you get you know, you
- 38:36Speaker 2: can get on a run here, even though, man, I
- 38:38Speaker 2: think coming out that's Niners Bills and it's it's brutal,
- 38:43Speaker 2: but at least they are going to be rested up
- 38:45Speaker 2: for that and have a healthy Joe Burrow. Hopefully as
- 38:49Speaker 2: we see him take some strikes, I'll give you one
- 38:50Speaker 2: other one and then I'll see if you want to
- 38:52Speaker 2: hit on any of these other games. But Jets Broncos, the
- 38:54Speaker 2: hacket ball, as it was deemed, Breese Hall being unleashed
- 38:58Speaker 2: was fun. Yeah, just showing what he can do. Man.
- 39:00Speaker 2: They just I pray they can keep him healthy. If
- 39:02Speaker 2: they keep him healthy, and they have a chance because
- 39:05Speaker 2: this offense can literally run through him, you know, one
- 39:09Speaker 2: of the few running backs you can really have everything
- 39:11Speaker 2: go through him. And Zach. I'll give Zach credit. I
- 39:14Speaker 2: think it's two weeks in a row now, he's over
- 39:15Speaker 2: seventy percent. This was this was the most calm I've
- 39:20Speaker 2: seen him normally when you watch him, it's all kind
- 39:23Speaker 2: of stressful just watching him in the pocket. He's so jittery,
- 39:26Speaker 2: and he's so wound tight in this game, especially even
- 39:29Speaker 2: the big conversion he had at the end of the
- 39:32Speaker 2: game to Conklind. There was a couple inbreakers in this
- 39:34Speaker 2: game where I saw him just kind of sink your
- 39:36Speaker 2: feet into the ground, look more calm, and you know.
- 39:38Speaker 2: One of the difficulties of evaluating him in college was
- 39:42Speaker 2: that BYU offensive line was really good. The schedule they
- 39:44Speaker 2: played that last year was terrible, so he had time
- 39:46Speaker 2: to really get comfortable. He went from the most comfortable
- 39:49Speaker 2: pocket to maybe the most chaotic pocket in the transition
- 39:53Speaker 2: from the college to the NFL, and it was jarring. Yeah,
- 39:56Speaker 2: he didn't handle it well, obviously, but I thought they
- 40:00Speaker 2: held up pretty well, even you know, I had some injuries.
- 40:02Speaker 2: We'll see what happens with Vera Tucker. Titman went out
- 40:05Speaker 2: of this game. Beckton was in and out, but I
- 40:07Speaker 2: thought for the most part they gave him some clean pockets.
- 40:09Speaker 2: The Broncos tend to do that. But he looked quiet.
- 40:13Speaker 2: It was the first time I could see I've seen
- 40:15Speaker 2: him play kind of quiet, which was nice to see.
- 40:18Speaker 1: Yeah, and I was looking Nick Benito, how about another
- 40:20Speaker 1: two sacks though for the Broncos turning into something on
- 40:23Speaker 1: the edge there.
- 40:24Speaker 2: That's again, that's the get off stuff that we've talked
- 40:26Speaker 2: about with him.
- 40:27Speaker 3: Yep, forever, Yep.
- 40:28Speaker 1: Okay, I got something on Carolina Detroit just quickly. You know,
- 40:33Speaker 1: I thought it was kind of kind of an afterthought,
- 40:35Speaker 1: you know, when the Lions signed David Montgomery.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Could play great.
- 40:39Speaker 1: He's been fantastic, and they got a great offensive line. Obviously,
- 40:43Speaker 1: they're really physical up there. I mean three, I mean
- 40:45Speaker 1: three really top of the line players right in Ragnow,
- 40:48Speaker 1: Decker and Penney Seoul, and they rock and roll there
- 40:52Speaker 1: for sure. So nineteen carries hundred nine yards there. And
- 40:54Speaker 1: I'll just say this now, I think by the end
- 40:56Speaker 1: of the season, Sam Laporte is a top five tight
- 40:59Speaker 1: end in the league.
- 41:00Speaker 3: He's just he is that good as a receiver. He's
- 41:03Speaker 3: only going to get better.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Jared Goff clearly trusts him, and he's pretty He's pretty
- 41:06Speaker 1: good in the run game too. You know, I don't
- 41:08Speaker 1: know if he's George Kittle, but he's pretty dang good there.
- 41:11Speaker 1: So I think that that dude's got a huge ceiling.
- 41:15Speaker 2: So I'm gonna do a little exercise here and I'm
- 41:17Speaker 2: gonna I'm gonna see, don't say until I get to
- 41:20Speaker 2: the list. Which team am I talking about? The Niners
- 41:25Speaker 2: or the Lions? Okay? You ready? In a very creative
- 41:30Speaker 2: play caller, an efficient, accurate quarterback, an outstanding two way
- 41:36Speaker 2: tight end from Iowa, a top three pick defensive lineman
- 41:40Speaker 2: from the Big Ten who's elevating the entire defense, and
- 41:44Speaker 2: a top three offensive line in the NFL. A physicality
- 41:50Speaker 2: in edge to him combined with creativity. I mean, it's
- 41:53Speaker 2: like they're like the mirror. You're the junior partner of
- 41:57Speaker 2: the forty nine ers.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow.
- 42:00Speaker 2: You know, there's a lot of similarities there.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And if they can continue to keep putting it together, man,
- 42:07Speaker 1: you might be talking about the Lions making a play
- 42:09Speaker 1: and trying to knock on that door with you know,
- 42:11Speaker 1: the NFC elites and the Eagles and the Niners here.
- 42:14Speaker 1: I mean, it may not be that far off.
- 42:16Speaker 2: Yeah, they're building their team the right way, and I'm
- 42:18Speaker 2: really starting to feel like it's two different sports in
- 42:20Speaker 2: the NFC and the AFC. Where we spent so much
- 42:22Speaker 2: time talking about the AFC quarterbacks and the high flying
- 42:24Speaker 2: offenses and all of a sudden, the NFC is just
- 42:27Speaker 2: bully ball, Like you better be freaking physical at the
- 42:30Speaker 2: line of scrimmage. Dallas got that lesson last night. So anyways,
- 42:34Speaker 2: that was just my two cents there on the Lions.
- 42:36Speaker 2: Last one here, real quick, Titans colts man, you hate
- 42:39Speaker 2: to see it with Anthony Richardson going down again shoulder injury,
- 42:41Speaker 2: but they find a way still to get the win
- 42:43Speaker 2: over the Titans twenty three to sixteen.
- 42:45Speaker 1: Yeah, Gardner Minshew is so valuable. I mean, that was
- 42:49Speaker 1: such a great signing from Chris Ballor to bring him
- 42:52Speaker 1: over and to get him going, because I mean, like
- 42:53Speaker 1: they have relied on him and he has proven to
- 42:55Speaker 1: be huge. And how about in the Jonathan Taylor debut game,
- 42:58Speaker 1: Zach Moss goes off, Oh my gosh.
- 43:02Speaker 2: It's like t o on Jerry Rice Day bog callback
- 43:06Speaker 2: all back, all right, Ratt. I am out for the
