Transcript
- 0:00Get laced up! Let's go!
- 0:02It's time for Banner with the Boys!
- 0:13Yo, welcome back to Banner with the Boys.
- 0:15Fast laps.
- 0:17Doing quick wardrobe changes here right before we record, but everything's on.
- 0:22So, we're good.
- 0:23So, we're good.
- 0:23Um...
- 0:25Whew! What are we talking about?
- 0:26Oh, F1. We're back at it with F1.
- 0:28It looks F1. F1. F1. F1. Fast laps.
- 0:30Yep. Fast laps.
- 0:31Uh, we're gonna recap the Mexico GP, and we're also gonna preview the...
- 0:37Do we call it the Brazilian GP or should I call it...
- 0:40I mean, I...
- 0:40What are we calling it this year?
- 0:41I mean, I usually... I can do the...
- 0:42No, what? Yeah, save it. Save it. I'm looking forward to it.
- 0:45We're already about tempo.
- 0:46And I didn't even give you... Yeah, we're all off. We're all off.
- 0:49I didn't even give you a good title for your Brazil preview this week.
- 0:53It just says... It just says Joe's.
- 0:55It has an apostrophe on it.
- 0:56Just my name. Yeah. Joe's. Yeah.
- 0:59So, you own something.
- 1:00That's okay.
- 1:00Just says Joe's. So, anyway.
- 1:02With that, obviously, I'm smelty.
- 1:04Uh, Joe, our co-host.
- 1:06Joe, what's... I mean, it's only Tuesday.
- 1:09Usually, I ask Cole how his week's been, and...
- 1:11Cole is still nowhere to be found, you know, because of his job.
- 1:15Fair enough. Fair enough.
- 1:16We respect you, Cole.
- 1:17But, uh... So, how's your week been, Joe?
- 1:19Uh, week's been good. I mean, you know, super early.
- 1:22Today's been a really good day.
- 1:24Um, got a lot of work done today. Did a lot of fun stuff at work today.
- 1:27So, um...
- 1:29You know, coming off of a really good race, I would say.
- 1:32Probably... Oh, man. Exciting race.
- 1:33Probably, honestly, like, I was talking to some people I was watching with.
- 1:35Probably one of the best races of the season, in my opinion.
- 1:38For sure.
- 1:38So, yeah. Excited to get talking about it.
- 1:41Yeah. No. Absolutely.
- 1:42Uh, of course, I am as well. I also agree with you.
- 1:45I think it was one of the most exciting races, um, that we got all season.
- 1:49There's a... You know...
- 1:51What? 15, 20 lap stretch there at the end where not a lot was going on.
- 1:55But, yeah.
- 1:56I mean, up to that point, I mean, it was constant all the way through the field.
- 2:00So, uh... And of course, last but not least, behind the camera there, we got Kev.
- 2:04Kev giving us a little, uh, wha-sa.
- 2:07Um, yeah. With that, let's head right into our Mexico GP recap.
- 2:12And starting off, let's actually talk about qualifying really quick.
- 2:16I didn't put it in there, so I know, again, keeping with the theme of this episode of just completely flying off the rails.
- 2:23Uh, it was, it was an interesting qualifying.
- 2:26Yeah.
- 2:27Uh, Yuki messing some things up for some people.
- 2:29Mm-hmm.
- 2:30Um, you know, not going the way, you know, probably Matt, but, uh, I think, uh, it was a good race.
- 2:38You know, not going the way, you know, probably Max thought it would go.
- 2:43I mean, Mercedes even a little bit.
- 2:45I mean, they... I don't know. I don't know.
- 2:48Q, Q3 was interesting. Uh, the end of Q1 was wild.
- 2:52I mean, was there anything that stuck out to you for...
- 2:54Yeah. I, uh, I kept, I usually, when I watch qualifying, just very few bullet points just in case we want to bring it up.
- 3:01Yeah, Perez knocked out in Q1 again.
- 3:02Yeah.
- 3:03Um, Piastri knocked out alongside him. Very unfortunate. Just could not hook up a good lap.
- 3:09Mm-hmm.
- 3:09Um, and then his tire strategy on his outlaps were like really weird. He had, uh...
- 3:13For who, Checo?
- 3:14Uh, Piastri. So like, his last lap was on used tires and he just could not hook up a lap.
- 3:20So, um, unfortunate knockout for him. And then, yeah, Yuki crashing out Q2, pretty much knocking himself and Lawson out at the same time.
- 3:27Um, and then, uh, I'm going to be talking about him at least, at least twice, maybe three times.
- 3:33Gasly getting into Q3.
- 3:35Gasly.
- 3:36Olkan nowhere to be seen, but that's okay.
- 3:38Gasly though.
- 3:39Q3, that's kind of, that's kind of impressive.
- 3:41These, this race and last race.
- 3:43Was it the second, I was going to say second race in a row, right?
- 3:44Second race in a row he's getting, yeah. It's, uh, yeah, second weekend in a row.
- 3:47Um, I don't, he's finding some kind of pace in that L-peen.
- 3:51Well, and Gasly, we'll talk about it a little bit later.
- 3:54But Gasly also had some, some great things to say, you know, about L-peen.
- 3:58Like things are looking up there.
- 3:59So interesting as we are closing out this season already with four races left after Mexico.
- 4:06That's weird. I can't believe it's already almost over.
- 4:08Yeah, it's, it's gone by really quick.
- 4:10Uh, another thing that's gone by pretty quick, Alonzo's career.
- 4:15Yeah.
- 4:16No, seriously though, Alonzo's 400th start. I mean, that's just insane by itself.
- 4:20Did you happen to look up where that ranks on, you know, a list?
- 4:24I did not. I should have probably.
- 4:26Is it not the, uh, uh, the most of all time?
- 4:29The most?
- 4:30Is it?
- 4:31I'm going to check really quick.
- 4:32Alright, no problem.
- 4:33Uh, let me, uh, let me just, uh, look at the screen here and fill, fill time.
- 4:38No.
- 4:39But I mean, like we can talk about Alonzo. I mean, it was a really good, really amazing achievement.
- 4:43Unfortunate end to his race though.
- 4:45Yeah, of course. I mean, not something he was planning on, of course, but him, Chacko, uh, yeah.
- 4:54I did not. What happened? Do we know?
- 4:56Um.
- 4:57You know what happened? I was going to also pull that up.
- 4:58I do have it. I do. I'm almost positive.
- 5:00You did pull that up.
- 5:01Uh, so Fernando Alonzo is, is the, uh, record holder for most starts.
- 5:05Of all time.
- 5:06Of all time.
- 5:07Wow.
- 5:08Um, uh, I'm trying to, I want to see who.
- 5:13Lewis, Lewis holds the most starts with a single team, but Fernando holds the most starts just in general.
- 5:20Overall, yeah.
- 5:21Yeah. I, wasn't it just car issues, I think, for Fernando? He just had some car issues.
- 5:25They just, I remember on the back.
- 5:26I just put Alonzo retires the car. Yeah.
- 5:28Yeah, okay. I just remember on the broadcast, they were just like, and he's having issues and has to retire, unfortunately, in his 400 start, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
- 5:35Yep.
- 5:36But. Um.
- 5:38Uh, brake cooling issue.
- 5:39Brake?
- 5:40I remember there was some like debris stuck in the car or something like that. And yeah, I was going to mess up his brakes.
- 5:44Yeah. I'm very unfortunate and to his 400th race start, but you know.
- 5:49What are you going to do?
- 5:50What I mean, hey, what are you going to do?
- 5:52You need brakes.
- 5:53You do need those.
- 5:54You need them to stop, I think.
- 5:57Fair enough. Uh, of course, you know what? I didn't put in the document. Man, we are just all over the place today.
- 6:04I just got to see that top grid. I already know who won, but I want to see every be able to see everybody else here so I can update all you.
- 6:12Oh, in terms of like who who got where.
- 6:14Who got where.
- 6:15So yeah.
- 6:16So we got, I mean, I could just read it off. Yeah, I got it in front of me.
- 6:18Go for it.
- 6:19So we got Carlos in first place. He was four seconds to Lando in second. Lando was, you know, closing the gap a little bit, but couldn't quite make it to him.
- 6:27Charles getting two Ferraris in the podium in third.
- 6:30And then we got Lewis and George.
- 6:32Great race for Mercedes.
- 6:33Yeah, good. Yeah, very good race for Mercedes.
- 6:35Max behind them and then K-Mag right behind Max, followed by Oscar, who couldn't quite catch up to K-Mag, but was kind of getting there.
- 6:46There was a lot of talk about him maybe reaching Max, and we'll talk about that a little later.
- 6:51And we got Nico and then Pierre Gasly filling in the last spot.
- 6:54So again, you know, great race from Gasly.
- 6:56Yeah, Pierre getting a point.
- 6:58So let's circle back to Ferrari.
- 7:00Obviously, Carlos getting the win.
- 7:02Great race from Charles, too.
- 7:04Figured he would have got one, two there, but Lando was given just enough.
- 7:11And, you know, Lando. McLaren had a decent race, too.
- 7:15Lando had a decent race.
- 7:17Lando had a decent race. Yeah, I mean, Charles just, you know, pushed a little too hard on that entrance into turn one.
- 7:23Or rather, the entrance into the straight and then went off the track a little bit, giving Lando second place.
- 7:29So, you know, at least he didn't crash.
- 7:31I was, as I was watching it, I kind of, I saw Lando getting closer and closer to Charles,
- 7:36and I started feeling the way I did in Miami when Lando was like about to get his first win.
- 7:40I was like, I feel like something bad's about to happen.
- 7:43And then Charles did that, and I was like, no!
- 7:46Luckily, didn't keep, didn't put him to the wall.
- 7:48So like, you know, honestly, the podium for me, best case scenario, I think.
- 7:52Sure, sure. Two Ferraris and a McLaren.
- 7:53No, he did. I mean, it's a great save. We'll call it a save.
- 7:56Yeah, really, really good save.
- 7:57It did look like he was going to fly off, he did fly off the track, but it definitely looked like he was going to go ahead and total that Ferrari.
- 8:03But kept it out of the wall and still finished P3 after having a pretty solid weekend.
- 8:09Also, enough of a gap to pit and get fast to slap.
- 8:13Like, those top three dominant the entire race compared to everyone else.
- 8:19I would agree. I would agree.
- 8:20You know, seeing Max brake 22 seconds sucks.
- 8:22Seeing three drivers, no matter who, even if Max is in those three drivers, I like that. That's awesome.
- 8:27At least we got some consistent racing, you know?
- 8:29No, it's insane. And that, again, you know, I feel like we've said it now the past few races since summer break, pretty much.
- 8:35We have no idea at this point who's going to honestly finish P1 the rest of the season.
- 8:39You know, these last four races, who knows?
- 8:41Yeah.
- 8:42I think it's going to, we're going to get exciting racing just like this for the last four races.
- 8:46And I really hope we do.
- 8:48Now, I'd like to see Max not get 22nd penalties, but we'll get to that.
- 8:52You'd like to see him not get 22nd penalties?
- 8:54Yeah.
- 8:55I got to play Cole a little bit.
- 8:56Yeah, because you got to beat him at his best. You know what I mean?
- 8:59I suppose. Yeah.
- 9:00I mean, it feels better.
- 9:01Okay, but if his best...
- 9:02Oh, I beat Max for a second, but he did have 22nd penalties.
- 9:05Okay, but if his best is breaking your car and pushing you off the track, I mean, it's all in a race, you know?
- 9:11Yeah, yeah, yeah. I get you. I get you.
- 9:14But Ferrari with the 1.2...
- 9:16Not 1.2, 1.3.
- 9:171.3, my bad.
- 9:18You're good.
- 9:19Yeah, could have been 1.2.
- 9:20Could have been 1.2.
- 9:21But yes, with the 1.3, I look to them to be finishing P5 or better the rest of the season, to be honest.
- 9:28Yeah, they broke...
- 9:29They're looking way too consistent right now.
- 9:30Yep, they broke second. They're not second in constructors, so there's that too.
- 9:34Yep.
- 9:35They, I would, I don't think they're probably going to catch McLaren, although it's only 30 points away.
- 9:42I mean, with Piaz, what's the difference?
- 9:45Only 30 points. That's it, 29 points to be exact.
- 9:48Wouldn't that be something?
- 9:49That's still very, very close.
- 9:50If Ferrari shows up out of nowhere and just...
- 9:52McLaren has to have a really bad weekend. And Ferrari has it.
- 9:56And Piastri wasn't looking fast this weekend per se.
- 10:00I would say...
- 10:01In the GP. In the GP.
- 10:03We'll talk about him because I have some notes.
- 10:05Because they were leading the race, weren't they? 1.2, Lando and Piastri at one point?
- 10:08No, no, never.
- 10:09They were not? God, I'm thinking of the Ferraris then.
- 10:11Yeah, you're thinking about the Ferraris, yep.
- 10:13But Lando was up there, I know, early, early, but...
- 10:15Nope.
- 10:16Are you sure?
- 10:17Positive. Lando started in P17.
- 10:19He didn't get to P2?
- 10:21If he did, it was because he hadn't pitted yet.
- 10:23What am I... I gotta figure out what I'm thinking of, but anyway...
- 10:26If he got to P2, it's because he hadn't pitted yet. But I don't think he ever broke P5.
- 10:30Maybe that's what I'm thinking of, is guys pitting and then, you know...
- 10:34Yeah, possibly.
- 10:35How they just stack up to the top until their turn.
- 10:37I don't think he had like a crazy long stint, but he had a longer one, at least.
- 10:40But yeah, we'll talk about... We can talk about McLaren when we kind of get to them in the stops.
- 10:46I want to start talking about Red Bull, dude.
- 10:48Go for it.
- 10:49So much, right? I mean, you started...
- 10:51I mean, let's just talk about the elephant in the room, Checo, right?
- 10:56So, qualifies poorly in... Just qualifies poorly in general.
- 11:01Comes into the race.
- 11:03False start, right off the bat.
- 11:07Five seconds.
- 11:08That's crazy.
- 11:10False start, it was because he lined up in front of...
- 11:12Yeah, he did not jump the light. He was completely with it. He was fine with that.
- 11:16His whole tire was like in front of the line.
- 11:19Yeah.
- 11:20Yeah, it was...
- 11:21Yeah, that was...
- 11:22Had a great start.
- 11:23He did.
- 11:24And then that's when they told him that, hey, Checo, you had a false start or whatever.
- 11:29He's like, I was a great start.
- 11:30That's BS. I was a great start.
- 11:31That was a great start.
- 11:32And he can't know, right? And then they told him it was because he was over the blind.
- 11:36And he was like, they should look at it again. I don't think it was.
- 11:38Yeah, yeah.
- 11:39And us the viewers were like, no, it was definitely over the line.
- 11:43We know more than you at this point, Chad.
- 11:44Yeah, seriously.
- 11:45For this situation.
- 11:46I just don't know. So two years ago, he finished third.
- 11:50Last year and this year, just shambles. He was out lap one last year.
- 11:55And then this year, he just could not make anything happen.
- 11:58So that Monaco curse that was on Charles, I think there's a Mexico curse on Checo now as well.
- 12:04That's a great point.
- 12:05Yeah. I don't know what's what's happening.
- 12:07Like a few drivers at their home races, they just can't put it together.
- 12:10First off, Lando was up front. Piastri was in the back.
- 12:13Yeah, that's what I said.
- 12:14No, you told me that I was wrong that Lando was in the back.
- 12:17No, you. OK, hold on.
- 12:19Yeah, yeah. We got to clean this up.
- 12:21You said Lando and Piastri are up front.
- 12:23And I said, no, they were never up front.
- 12:25And then I said, oh, I thought I was talking about Ferraris.
- 12:28I swore Lando was up front. You're like, no, he was P17.
- 12:31Oh, I thought I thought I still think you said Piestri rewind it or check the tapes.
- 12:36Check the tapes. That's fine.
- 12:37But anyway, anyway, anyway.
- 12:39Either way, Lando was up front pretty much the entire time.
- 12:41I was looking that up. Yeah.
- 12:43Um, back to Checo. So the false start. Not great.
- 12:47Um, he gets a five second penalty later in the lap. He starts fighting Liam.
- 12:51I do have some Red Bull racing news, but we can just kind of pin these together really quick.
- 12:57Um, Checo hates Liam.
- 12:59I know.
- 13:00Like that's crazy.
- 13:01I was reading up on this interview with Checo about that.
- 13:05And, uh, I think this was from motorsport.com.
- 13:08Um, like just, yeah, he, he pretty much hates him.
- 13:13He's like, he's got a bad attitude. He needs to be more humble.
- 13:16All this stuff like.
- 13:17Yeah. And there's no love loss on Liam's side either.
- 13:19Like we saw him, we got some, some give him the finger during the race.
- 13:22Yes. We saw him.
- 13:23When he passed him.
- 13:24Honestly, that's the stuff I want to see.
- 13:27Everyone's talking about Liam possibly being the second driver.
- 13:30I want him fighting these Red Bulls. I don't want him proving.
- 13:33He has to.
- 13:34He's running out of time. Liam, he's already been in that rabbit hole, got stuck in the, in the reserve driver role.
- 13:41So now, now it's his time. That's why he's being so aggressive.
- 13:44He's trying to take advantage of that.
- 13:45Yes. There's an argument to say he wants to appease Red Bull, Horner and Helmet by like doing what they want him to.
- 13:51But I'm so happy he's going, he's going balls to the wall on that.
- 13:55That's so, so much fun to see a Checo fighting Liam.
- 13:59And if Red Bull's like, no, you can't be here because you're going to do stuff like that, somebody else will absolutely pick him up.
- 14:04Hopefully. Yeah.
- 14:05You would think, well, you would think if there's a spot open.
- 14:08So I'm really happy we saw some fighting from Liam. It was, it was pretty dirty fighting, I would say.
- 14:12I don't think it was clean at any point.
- 14:13Checo did pick up a little bit of damage, which I think ultimately just ruined his pace and he lost every opportunity he had from that point on.
- 14:21With that incident or with Liam and Checo's kind of feud?
- 14:26Sure.
- 14:27Is it a feud now?
- 14:28Yeah.
- 14:29Is this officially a feud?
- 14:30Yeah, 100 percent it's a feud.
- 14:31Officially a feud.
- 14:32They were going after each other, all race.
- 14:33Band of the Boys, officially a feud.
- 14:35Yeah, I mean he, yeah.
- 14:36We're putting on a shirt.
- 14:38Alright.
- 14:39Yeah.
- 14:40Even though I'm about to read something off motorsport.com.
- 14:41Do it.
- 14:42But it was just interesting here in the article, it says, when asked, when asked how his relationship with Lawson is, he snapped back, meaning Checo, quote,
- 14:50I don't have any relationship with him.
- 14:52I think the way he has come to Formula One, I don't think he has the right attitude for it.
- 14:56He needs to be a bit more humble.
- 14:58Okay, I guess that's where I was saying the humble thing.
- 14:59He needs to be a bit more humble?
- 15:01Dude, he's frustrated.
- 15:02That's Checo.
- 15:03Half of that is Checo being frustrated with his own current situation and probably his own current performance, which is lackluster right now, to say the least.
- 15:11Yeah, him saying that Liam is not humble, watching Liam get kicked out of a seat and then having to wait almost a full season to get the seat back, that's, how can he be not humble?
- 15:24He doesn't have the experience to not be humble, you know?
- 15:27He's fighting for his spot, right?
- 15:31I don't think he's going to try squandering it at least.
- 15:34No, but there were some good fights there.
- 15:37There were some really good fights.
- 15:38Yeah, they looked at Liam, I think, for a penalty, but they didn't give it to him.
- 15:43I think Checo was trying to get him a couple times.
- 15:46I think it's because Checo fought back and did the same thing to him, and so they just kind of knulled it as a racing incident altogether.
- 15:52But yeah, it was good to see Liam doing a little bit of fighting against Checo.
- 15:56I was really happy to see that.
- 15:57Too bad he didn't finish really good.
- 15:59Do you happen to have it down in your notes what lap that was that Checo and Liam was getting into it?
- 16:06I should have that in my notes.
- 16:08I know you go lap by lap like I do, but for some reason I don't think I have that one.
- 16:13I'm just curious if that's what triggered my comments.
- 16:16That was in lap 18.
- 16:18Lap 18, okay.
- 16:19So on lap 25, for whatever reason, I put this in our document here, that Smelty here, me, said, quote, this is a gritty race on lap 25.
- 16:27So that happening...
- 16:28Lap 25.
- 16:29I said that not long after that incident, but there's so much that happened and everybody's fighting for position.
- 16:35Well, it's because we saw Lawson fighting Perez, and then we saw Perez fighting Stroll, and then we saw Max get another penalty.
- 16:43We saw Max get a second, and this is all within five laps.
- 16:46Yeah, it was insane.
- 16:47And then we saw Piastri fight Colapinto.
- 16:50Colapinto was fighting him.
- 16:52He was fighting him.
- 16:53So yeah, those laps, that's probably why you said that, and then Max started just penalty right after.
- 16:57Because the commentators were kind of confusing me a little bit when all the Max penalties started happening because, I don't know,
- 17:04for some reason I was getting confused.
- 17:05So I was also, while I was watching it, I was following along with this...
- 17:09Now, of course, I can't remember.
- 17:10It was something...
- 17:11It was BBC related.
- 17:12It was BBC Live, and people were updating the race and stuff.
- 17:16Oh, sure.
- 17:17So I was getting the explanation through there, and it was just insane, the Max situations.
- 17:24Yeah, we can get into that now.
- 17:26Go for it.
- 17:27Yeah, we can.
- 17:28I mean, we saw a repeat basically of the US, except it was flipped over and amplified to the 10th degree.
- 17:34And I kind of would like to touch back on the US a little bit as well on how those penalties were given to Lando.
- 17:41Because Max got two 10 second penalties.
- 17:45Lando got a single five second penalty.
- 17:47Right?
- 17:48I think it was...
- 17:50It's a statement.
- 17:51It's a little weird thinking about it and trying to rationalize it.
- 17:54Okay, wait, you got to take off the McLaren hat and put on a Red Bull hat before you say that.
- 17:57I left it at home.
- 17:59Oh yeah, I'm sure.
- 18:01I'm sure.
- 18:02It's definitely at home.
- 18:03I think...
- 18:06So the US situation was so weird at that corner because they didn't start enforcing it until like a quarter through the race, it felt like.
- 18:14People were going off and they weren't giving anyone anything, and then all of a sudden they started handing out penalties for it.
- 18:20And so I think maybe that's a factor in why the penalties were so kind of minor.
- 18:27And then we get to this race and Max gets two 10 second penalties.
- 18:31To be fair, he pushed them off pretty far.
- 18:34Oh yes.
- 18:35I'm not saying Max definitely deserved those penalties.
- 18:38For sure.
- 18:39Like live, when it first happened I was like, oh you know, whatever, probably a racing incident, whatever.
- 18:43And then they showed the replays, I was like, fella.
- 18:47Like, come on.
- 18:49And I don't know.
- 18:51I think because of Max's track record as well as being a little bit more of an aggressive driver, you know, and they've already talked to him about this earlier in the season.
- 19:00I'm almost positive.
- 19:01Didn't he have a meeting with somebody or whatever?
- 19:04I got to look it up now because you're looking at me like I'm an idiot.
- 19:07I mean, you could be right.
- 19:08I swear to God, or maybe it was just internal with Red Bull.
- 19:11I'm sure.
- 19:12But he's been talked to about this, about his driving before this season.
- 19:18Maybe it's just a statement too from the stewards too.
- 19:21It kind of makes you think, is 2023, he had it easy.
- 19:27He was winning races by 20 to 30 seconds every single weekend.
- 19:31He didn't have to get dirty.
- 19:32He didn't have to get dirty.
- 19:33So he lost that skill a little bit coming into this year maybe.
- 19:36And his fights are just really dirty.
- 19:39I mean, I understand fights are hard.
- 19:40His fights are different.
- 19:41I appreciate his, I appreciate him fighting really hard.
- 19:43Like, I really appreciate it.
- 19:45But he's definitely getting penalties for the fights that he's in.
- 19:48And you're thinking maybe because of all last season he was winning by.
- 19:51Maybe.
- 19:52This is all, I could just be talking like a whole lot of smack.
- 19:57I'm just kind of rationalizing.
- 20:00But you'd think a driver at his level, he would have knocked that rust off in two races.
- 20:04Yeah, you would think so.
- 20:05Which again, they started the season pretty dominant as well though.
- 20:09Right.
- 20:10But, that's interesting.
- 20:11They weren't fighting a lot early this year.
- 20:13His fighting does feel different.
- 20:15It's very aggressive.
- 20:16He will back out of things, but it's only if you have the clear advantage.
- 20:20Otherwise, he does seem to border that line of dirty or not.
- 20:26I will also say we haven't really seen him making these mistakes with anyone except Lando, right?
- 20:34For the most part.
- 20:35Like when he's fighting someone.
- 20:36That's who he's most threatened by.
- 20:37That's who he's most threatened by.
- 20:39But maybe Lando isn't aggressive enough.
- 20:43I don't know.
- 20:44With Max?
- 20:45I'm just trying to make the comparison between Lewis and Max and Lando and Max.
- 20:52And Lewis was just as aggressive as Max.
- 20:56There would be moments when Max puts him into the wall and Lewis puts Max into the wall.
- 21:02And that just happens.
- 21:04But it seems like, and sometimes this happens too, I guess.
- 21:09I'm thinking back to Austria.
- 21:10They both ruined each other's races because they got too close to each other again.
- 21:13I don't know.
- 21:14It's interesting.
- 21:15Maybe one of them is either not aggressive enough or maybe they're both a little bit too aggressive.
- 21:20I think you're onto something there.
- 21:21I think it would be Lando that's a little less aggressive than Max.
- 21:25I almost view Oscar more aggressive than Lando to be honest with you, like within the team.
- 21:31Sure.
- 21:32But maybe that is the thing.
- 21:34Possibly.
- 21:35I just know Max is different.
- 21:36Max is just going full bore and Lando's maybe trying to find the right time instead.
- 21:40Possibly.
- 21:41Instead of also matching his level of, I don't know.
- 21:44That's interesting.
- 21:45Yeah.
- 21:46Something to think about and something to keep watching.
- 21:48Max is just performance when he's fighting against someone.
- 21:50Well, and their battles are becoming more frequent.
- 21:52Lando and Max.
- 21:53And I think that's going to be Lando, Max, throw Charles in there.
- 21:59Carlos is ending the season really well.
- 22:01But between those three, like Lando, Max, and Charles, not to take anything away from
- 22:06Carlos, but I think that's going to be your main battles.
- 22:10Not only ending the season, again, there's going to be a couple other people involved
- 22:14there, mainly Carlos.
- 22:16Maybe you see a George Russell still try to make something happen with that Mercedes car
- 22:19that's just not on the same level.
- 22:21But I think those are going to be the three that are going to start the season next year
- 22:26battling, which is going to be uber fun.
- 22:29Yep.
- 22:30Uber fun, last year before New Regs, right?
- 22:33Yes.
- 22:34Next season.
- 22:35Yeah.
- 22:36That's correct.
- 22:37Yeah.
- 22:38But anyway, yeah, Red Bull with a wild race to say the least.
- 22:39Bad weekend for Red Bull in general.
- 22:41Like you said, now getting passed by Ferrari in the Constructors.
- 22:46Bad weekend for Red Bull.
- 22:48They're ending the season poorly.
- 22:50You know what sucks is that Cole's not here right now.
- 22:53This is what he's been wishing for and wanting all season.
- 22:56Talking about the downfall of Red Bull and we might be seeing the start of the snowball
- 23:01on the top of the hill right now and Cole's not there to kick it down the hill.
- 23:05Yeah.
- 23:06He's so, yeah, Cole.
- 23:07I mean, he said it.
- 23:08I'm not putting Max in any more of my podiums and I think he's kept to form.
- 23:13I think.
- 23:14Maybe he went back on it once.
- 23:15I might have to.
- 23:16If I want a shot, you know, the rest of them, you know, we got to work together here, Joe.
- 23:20If we want a shot.
- 23:21I mean, I'm not going to not put Max in podiums.
- 23:23Like, I mean, he's just too fast, right?
- 23:26Like, is he too fast right now?
- 23:28His car.
- 23:29I think his car is failing him.
- 23:30So like, let's go on Red Bull, right?
- 23:32By end of race, his tires were gone.
- 23:35It's his car.
- 23:36It's not.
- 23:37OK, I say it's his car.
- 23:38It's not him.
- 23:39He got 20 second penalties last year.
- 23:40He put his McLaren hat back on when he said this.
- 23:43Yeah.
- 23:44Yeah.
- 23:45He made some bad.
- 23:46He made some bad fights, right?
- 23:48But at the end of his race, he was losing a ton of time because of his car, not because
- 23:52of him.
- 23:53Right.
- 23:54It's a red.
- 23:55It's a Red Bull problem at the moment.
- 23:56Sure.
- 23:57Sure.
- 23:58So if they can get upgrades on the car, he can he can definitely make it back.
- 24:02I still think some tracks are going to be better than others.
- 24:05Like we saw McLaren just did not do well at US, but they did pretty good here.
- 24:10So I would not hold out on Max.
- 24:13It's like at the start of the season as well.
- 24:15I think all of you.
- 24:17I think I don't think any of you put Checo in in your podiums, but I was like the Red
- 24:23Bull is going to be fast.
- 24:24Like it doesn't matter if Checo is a bad driver.
- 24:26He's going to be in a Red Bull in Bahrain.
- 24:29Yeah.
- 24:30It's just it's kind of the same thing except a little flipped.
- 24:33Max is still an incredible driver.
- 24:34He's going to be able to put his car in front of people.
- 24:38And it just kind of depends on how it goes from there.
- 24:40But his car is not working for him.
- 24:41He's losing.
- 24:42He's losing a lot of he's getting a lot more dead than usual.
- 24:45He can't turn.
- 24:46He's complaining more than usual, I would say.
- 24:48He complains a lot.
- 24:49Well, yeah, I think they probably have to censor half of his complaint.
- 24:52Probably.
- 24:53It's probably not fit for television.
- 24:55Probably.
- 24:56But with that, let's let's head right into McLaren.
- 25:00Yeah.
- 25:01Again, not not the end of the world for them with where Landon finished.
- 25:05Weird race for Oscar.
- 25:07Weird race for Oscar.
- 25:08I think really qualifying was his downfall.
- 25:09I think he would have placed pretty well if he was if he qualified higher.
- 25:13So I did put he he had a good recovery.
- 25:17He started P17.
- 25:18He made it up to P7 or six.
- 25:21He got up there and they were talking about him catching Max.
- 25:25Now he didn't catch Max.
- 25:26It blows my mind.
- 25:27And he didn't catch K-Mag either, which is crazy.
- 25:29We'll talk about K-Mag in a few seconds.
- 25:30We'll talk about K-Mag and Haas.
- 25:31If you're a Haas fan, this is finally your time.
- 25:34Yeah.
- 25:35But yeah, Castre did not have upgrades this weekend.
- 25:37He did not have the same upgrades as as as Lando.
- 25:39He will have them next weekend.
- 25:41So we should see a bit more competitiveness coming from his side of the garage.
- 25:45I still think he had a good recovery.
- 25:47I mean, he got back into points, decent-ish points.
- 25:50It's not where you want to see a McLaren finish or it's not where you would expect a McLaren
- 25:53finish, but still a good a good recovery despite what had happened, I will say.
- 26:00No, for sure.
- 26:02Like you said, P17, that's where he started, right?
- 26:05Yes.
- 26:06Start at the back.
- 26:07It was either P17 or P18.
- 26:08The fact that you're even in points, you know, of course with a car as dominating as McLaren,
- 26:14should that be expected?
- 26:15Probably.
- 26:16But I think we still, you know, it's still a feat to get into points from P17 and work
- 26:20your way through the field.
- 26:21Yeah.
- 26:22No matter what.
- 26:23But yeah, great showing from Lando.
- 26:27Just again, a consistent driver, a championship caliber driver.
- 26:32I mean, he's a championship caliber driver.
- 26:35We're going to see that battle next season.
- 26:39I think it's a real possibility that between him and Charles, maybe.
- 26:46And Lewis.
- 26:47Or Lewis.
- 26:48I was going to say it.
- 26:49I mean, who knows?
- 26:50Like Lewis could go crazy in the Ferrari.
- 26:53Does Red Bull figure their stuff out?
- 26:55Yeah.
- 26:56And if you, I mean, putting even putting Lando aside, the McLaren is just looking really
- 27:01good right now.
- 27:03It's holding Dag better than I think most cars at the moment.
- 27:06Like it, of all the cars I'm seeing like a last minute push from the McLaren.
- 27:11What are you saying?
- 27:12Holding Dag?
- 27:13Like they're managing their degradation.
- 27:14Yeah.
- 27:15They're managing their degradation really well.
- 27:17So like it's like the McLaren at the end of the race, I'm always seeing them gaining
- 27:21on the next person versus everyone else.
- 27:23Like their Dag is really, really good.
- 27:25So it's fun to see that.
- 27:27They're better in the long run you're saying.
- 27:29Oh, I would say so.
- 27:30Than everybody else.
- 27:31I would.
- 27:32I would say Lando.
- 27:33Like Lando caught Charles and Charles.
- 27:35True.
- 27:36He, this is not the first time Charles did that when he was under pressure, unfortunately
- 27:38when or he was fighting Lando.
- 27:40He just pushed a little too hard.
- 27:42Then again, we have seen Charles do some really crazy stuff in the Ferrari.
- 27:45He does feel the pressure again.
- 27:47Thank gosh that he won Monaco this year.
- 27:49Honestly, like I felt so happy for him, but he, I'm watching it again.
- 27:54It just came, it just came up when Charles getting loose there.
- 27:58I just don't, I just don't get it.
- 27:59It does feel like a pressure thing.
- 28:02Yeah.
- 28:03Just snapped it, got loose and tried to snap it back.
- 28:06He saved it well.
- 28:07You know, that's all I can ask for.
- 28:08He did save it well.
- 28:09No, no, no.
- 28:10For sure.
- 28:11We're not taking that away from him.
- 28:12I was rooting for Lando to get ahead of him anyway, but like, I'm just, I'm, I'm just happy
- 28:15Charles didn't get his race ruined and I'm really happy his safety card didn't come out
- 28:19and like it added more, you know, more drama.
- 28:24More drama, more drama.
- 28:25That's what we need though.
- 28:26That's what we need.
- 28:27You're right.
- 28:28We need more drama.
- 28:29Moving right along.
- 28:30Mercedes, I guess I kind of thinking back to what I was saying earlier in the show here,
- 28:36I was kind of talking crap on Mercedes qualifying and I guess their race in general, but they
- 28:43actually ended up having a much better race than they, they probably anticipated at this
- 28:47point in the season with a car that's just, it's just not there.
- 28:52Yeah.
- 28:53They're at the same level right now as the McLaren and the Ferrari, they're approaching
- 29:00the Red Bull.
- 29:01I'd still like to say that the Red Bull car you would, you would imagine is still a little
- 29:03bit better, but I mean, they finished in front of them this week.
- 29:06They did.
- 29:07I don't think, I don't think there's 20 seconds sitting in the, in the box.
- 29:11Yes.
- 29:12And I don't think Mercedes had to, yeah, they did not have to fight literally anyone else
- 29:16the entire race.
- 29:17That's what I mean.
- 29:18They're kind of in their own little.
- 29:20Yeah, they started fifth and sixth and they ended fourth and fifth and that's because
- 29:25Max had his, his downfall.
- 29:27Right.
- 29:28Yeah.
- 29:29And that's the only reason I, the only notes I have of the, of Mercedes is them fighting
- 29:32each other.
- 29:33Lewis trying to get ahead of George.
- 29:34And they're about what?
- 29:35So let's see.
- 29:3610, three, 13 seconds.
- 29:37Look at that math.
- 29:3810 plus three, 13.
- 29:39Good job.
- 29:40Well like 13 seconds approximately in front of Haas.
- 29:46Yep.
- 29:47So, I mean, even Haas is starting to catch them a little bit.
- 29:50Yeah.
- 29:51So.
- 29:52Is Haas next on the?
- 29:53Ah, if they're not, we can talk about Haas next, but.
- 29:56They are.
- 29:57Yeah.
- 29:58Good.
- 29:59Good for them because they had an excellent weekend.
- 30:02Um, but with Mercedes, I kind of have them in a tier, kind of like I had Aston Martin
- 30:07all season and Aston's kind of been in their tier by themselves all year for me.
- 30:12Now Mercedes has kind of slotted into that, but they're still better than the Aston, you
- 30:16know, no doubt.
- 30:17Yes.
- 30:18But, ah, they're just kind of by themselves.
- 30:20I don't know.
- 30:21But I think they can touch P5 or better.
- 30:24Yeah, I think so.
- 30:25The rest of the season.
- 30:26I don't see them beating anybody else to get a win.
- 30:31Maybe George has a crazy race.
- 30:32Maybe Lewis goes out with a bang in Abu Dhabi in the Mercedes, which would be awesome.
- 30:36That would be cool.
- 30:38I don't see it happening.
- 30:39I think.
- 30:40I want Carlos to win Abu Dhabi because I think that would be nice.
- 30:44I think we're going to have a heck of a, I can't wait.
- 30:48Just because I don't mean to.
- 30:49Better than the boys live watch party at midnight or whatever.
- 30:52Yeah.
- 30:53I don't mean to derail us a little bit, but just going back to Carlos, I had mentioned
- 30:56this.
- 30:57It's possible we could have just witnessed Carlos's last F1 win, unfortunately.
- 31:01What?
- 31:02Yes.
- 31:03His last F1 win?
- 31:04Yes.
- 31:05You think so.
- 31:06He's going to Williams next year.
- 31:07I know, but.
- 31:08Williams is too unreliable.
- 31:11We just can't.
- 31:12They're charging, but they're consistently not there.
- 31:13But they're always charging.
- 31:15They're never consistent with where they're going.
- 31:18But again, with 2026 looming in the background, we don't know who's bringing what.
- 31:22You'd like to assume the better teams will probably start out of the gate a little better
- 31:28than everybody else, meaning Red Bull, Ferrari, Mercedes, McLaren.
- 31:32Yeah.
- 31:33But who knows?
- 31:35Who knows?
- 31:36I just don't see a world, unfortunately.
- 31:39Dang.
- 31:40With F1 win ever, potentially.
- 31:43That's why I would like to see him win another one before the end of the year.
- 31:46Sure.
- 31:47Sure.
- 31:48Fair enough.
- 31:49Get three wins in one season.
- 31:50I think we're going to have a number of drivers really fighting hard that last race.
- 31:52I hope so.
- 31:53That would be nice.
- 31:54That would be cool.
- 31:56You had written something about Russell's car being different from Lewis?
- 32:01Yes, I did.
- 32:03Okay.
- 32:04I was wondering where I put that note.
- 32:05I was just looking for my note on my phone, thinking I put it there, but I did put it
- 32:09in here.
- 32:10The commentators actually said that George Russell's car is completely different than
- 32:15Lewis.
- 32:18Potentially George Russell's car is only upgraded through Miami because of damage here and there.
- 32:26They got to keep repairing things here and there, so they haven't been able to actually
- 32:30upgrade his car, but that'd be a long time ago.
- 32:33Didn't you have a race win?
- 32:36I'm just saying.
- 32:37I'm almost positive that's what they said because I was taking these notes during it,
- 32:42so maybe they said it wrong.
- 32:43I'm not sure, but that'd be wild.
- 32:45Yeah, that would be crazy.
- 32:49He's still battling Lewis, even with Lewis' car having the upgrades.
- 32:52He hasn't had a race win, but he's had some pretty close races.
- 32:58That's insane.
- 33:00He's doing that well in a car that isn't upgraded since Miami.
- 33:03That's early season.
- 33:05That would be crazy.
- 33:06I'd slot in with those drivers that I mentioned earlier to start 2025 before things start
- 33:11taking effect.
- 33:12Yeah, why not?
- 33:13Hopefully we get... If we're going to see a Mercedes up there, it's going to be George.
- 33:16Kimmy's got to... He's got to learn.
- 33:19I was thinking about this this weekend.
- 33:20Now that Lewis is gone and I wasn't going to jump on that bandwagon, now I should jump
- 33:26on the Mercedes now that they're mid-pack.
- 33:28Now you want to jump on a Mercedes?
- 33:31Yeah, and it's nothing against Lewis.
- 33:33I love Lewis.
- 33:34I think it's going to be awesome.
- 33:36I jumped on the Mercedes bandwagon when they were at their height.
- 33:39Well, actually that's wrong.
- 33:41I started really liking them when they started getting beat by Red Bull.
- 33:45Yeah, I mean, why not?
- 33:47We're not that massive of a George fan either, but it's... I don't know.
- 33:51Are you a big Ferrari fan?
- 33:54Are you going to be with Lewis?
- 33:57It's an interesting concept with Lewis and Charles.
- 33:59It's kind of a fun team.
- 34:02The way they're performing at the end of the season, it'd probably be fun to be a Ferrari
- 34:06fan the next couple of years here, but I'm not just going to jump on their bandwagon.
- 34:12That's fair.
- 34:13I almost hated Ferrari, I would say, last year and the year prior, but this year I've
- 34:18really grown to like them a lot.
- 34:19I didn't like them.
- 34:20I really did not like them when Vettel was there for some reason.
- 34:24I just was like... I just did not like them as-
- 34:26I think it was just the whole, this is the team that everyone knows.
- 34:31This is like, Ferrari is F1.
- 34:33If you ask F1 to some Joe Schmo, who at least knows what F1 is, and you ask him about a
- 34:39team, it's probably going to be at Ferrari.
- 34:41Yes, exactly.
- 34:42You think of the Ferrari red immediately.
- 34:45It's like, yeah, and they're like, they have a legacy and they want to get back to form
- 34:49because they were doing really bad when we started watching.
- 34:51They were doing horribly when we started watching BTS.
- 34:53They were not awesome.
- 34:54I was like, I don't want these guys.
- 34:55They're really bad.
- 34:56And everybody was really cheering for Ferrari because they were the underdog.
- 34:59Yeah.
- 35:00I did not jump on that bandwagon then.
- 35:02I was very much just like, whatever.
- 35:04No, you were a Mercedes fan about that time.
- 35:08When I started watching DTS, I don't actually... I think it was still McLaren.
- 35:12I don't think I had any true alliance to any team until I really started watching this
- 35:15sport.
- 35:16And I really don't either.
- 35:17That's my problem.
- 35:18Well, I mean, I do have an alliance now, obviously.
- 35:19Well, yeah, now, clearly.
- 35:20Red Bull.
- 35:21Yeah.
- 35:22But this year for sure, especially after Monza, I think, when like... I think the saying
- 35:29has been said, even if you're not a Ferrari fan, you're a Ferrari fan.
- 35:33Well, that was cool.
- 35:35Yeah.
- 35:36I mean, just watching a sea of red and like them.
- 35:38Yeah, for sure.
- 35:39It was so special.
- 35:40Yeah.
- 35:41And also, it's got to be also, they're just competing with Max too.
- 35:44They're getting points on the board.
- 35:45They really are, though.
- 35:46Yeah, no, no.
- 35:47More than competing.
- 35:48I've really, really grown to like Ferrari this year.
- 35:51So real quick, let's just run through these last couple.
- 35:53Haas.
- 35:54Haas.
- 35:55Double points finish.
- 35:56Merica, let's go.
- 35:57Whoa.
- 35:58Nice for Haas.
- 35:59Crazy.
- 36:00Good weekend.
- 36:01Good weekend.
- 36:02K-Meg in... I'm talking about qualifying K-Meg making it to Q3 or whatever.
- 36:10Yeah, K-Meg getting into Q3.
- 36:11That's wild and not getting last in Q3 either.
- 36:14Well, Nico got into Q3 too.
- 36:16Did he?
- 36:17I wasn't sure if he did make it to Q3 or not.
- 36:19I can't remember.
- 36:20Maybe he did and finished with Mike Astley.
- 36:22Oh, you know what?
- 36:23Yeah, Kate, no, Nico did get into Q3 as well.
- 36:25What did he...?
- 36:26He got 10th.
- 36:27Where was Gastly then?
- 36:29Gastly was... You could have sworn Gastly got 10th or was starting 10th, but I...
- 36:36Gastly got 8th.
- 36:37Oh, snap.
- 36:38I'm not even giving my boy enough credit.
- 36:39Yeah, qualifying was kind of crazy.
- 36:41The last three people were an Alpina, Williams, and a Haas.
- 36:44I know.
- 36:45That was insane.
- 36:46I love seeing it though.
- 36:47I want to see more of that.
- 36:48And poor Albon with that.
- 36:49Poor Albon, dude.
- 36:50So real quick, yeah, Haas.
- 36:51Haas.
- 36:52I'm not trying to take anything away from Haas.
- 36:55You were out there K-Mag fighting and outpacing Oskar.
- 36:58Yeah.
- 36:59As soon as Oskar got behind K-Mag, it was five seconds or whatever, and started closing
- 37:04the distance.
- 37:05So they were both equally closing the distance to Max at the same time.
- 37:09So it was almost like, oh my gosh, he actually is going to have to fight K-Mag if he even
- 37:13gets to him, and he never could.
- 37:15So a great race from K-Mag.
- 37:17They told him Oskar was behind him, and he was like, oh no, I'm not getting this position.
- 37:21And this was while the commentators were saying that Oskar could catch Max.
- 37:25They weren't even thinking about K-Mag.
- 37:26Yeah, they brushed him off.
- 37:28That's not even a possibility.
- 37:29They didn't even bring him up.
- 37:30Yeah.
- 37:31So it was really, really cool seeing him.
- 37:32I think K-Mag's having the time of his life right now.
- 37:35Just racing really consistent.
- 37:38K-Mag's been consistent for Haas.
- 37:41That's wild.
- 37:42Haas, in general, has had, I guess you could say, a solid season considering where you
- 37:47thought they would be.
- 37:48I would say so.
- 37:49And I got two completely different drivers next year.
- 37:52I know, which is crazy.
- 37:53Does that make you nervous now as a Haas?
- 37:55100%.
- 37:56Yeah, 100%.
- 37:57Because you're just like, dude, we're finally doing something.
- 37:58We could fight for best of the rest next season, right?
- 38:02We're getting Ocon and a Rookie.
- 38:03Yeah, it's going to be tough, I think.
- 38:06But no, good for Haas.
- 38:07They're finishing the season strong.
- 38:10It's fun to watch.
- 38:11It's fun to watch.
- 38:12So much fun to watch.
- 38:13I love seeing our American boys up there.
- 38:14Actually doing something.
- 38:15They're not American.
- 38:16Our American team up there.
- 38:17Yeah.
- 38:18Calm down.
- 38:19Our American driver was kicked out of that fight this season.
- 38:21It didn't go very well anyway.
- 38:23Yeah.
- 38:24I think we're going to take about 20% off there.
- 38:26But yeah, Racing Bulls and Williams a little bit.
- 38:30Racing Bulls we mentioned, but Williams...
- 38:31Oh, Yuki crashing out.
- 38:32We didn't talk about the first crash.
- 38:33Well, and we can talk about that with Albahn there.
- 38:36So whose fault is that in your opinion watching it?
- 38:39I think it's Yuki's fault if I'm recalling it correctly.
- 38:43It's tough because it looks like Albahn started breaking early.
- 38:48He was...
- 38:49So how I'm seeing it, Yuki was going on...
- 38:53He was on the outside, Albahn on the inside, and Albahn had another car alongside him as
- 38:58well.
- 38:59Gasly was alongside him.
- 39:00Yes.
- 39:01So he was getting squeezed a bit.
- 39:02Albahn was moving a little bit, but he was also under braking.
- 39:04But he was holding his line.
- 39:05He was definitely holding his line.
- 39:07Yuki tried racing past him, maybe broke late or something.
- 39:11He definitely broke later than Albahn did.
- 39:13Race passed, got clipped.
- 39:14And so I think it's a Yuki incident, unfortunately.
- 39:17And then Albahn just had to suffer the consequences.
- 39:18And then Albahn started slowing down and you just see in the replay of Yuki just go flying
- 39:24right past him and yeah, they just clip each other a little bit.
- 39:26And that ends up being it for both drivers.
- 39:29But I mean, what are you going to expect in that first turn?
- 39:34Yeah.
- 39:35That first turn really does not disappoint.
- 39:38Next year in Mexico with the rookies is going to be wild in the first turn.
- 39:42Yeah.
- 39:43Mexico turn one does not disappoint ever.
- 39:46But yeah, Colpinto, I did not see where he finished.
- 39:48He was outside of points.
- 39:51Not by a ton.
- 39:52He was fighting with Oscar for a little bit, but I think in general, it was just kind of
- 39:57like a race for him.
- 39:58Because Oscar had to climb from P17.
- 39:59Yeah, exactly.
- 40:00He finished P16, so it wasn't incredibly...
- 40:01Oh no, he didn't finish P16.
- 40:02That was where he started.
- 40:03Colpinto.
- 40:04Yeah.
- 40:05He finished 12th, so he climbed a little bit.
- 40:08So he was there.
- 40:09He was there.
- 40:10He was ahead of both Salbers.
- 40:11He was ahead of Liam and Perez as well, but they were kind of fighting each other.
- 40:16Yeah, the Liam-Perez thing is seriously going to be between Max and Lando, Liam and Perez
- 40:22literally probably fighting for...
- 40:25Liam fighting for Checos job and Checos fighting to not get demoted.
- 40:28I don't know if we've talked about it yet, but we have to talk about it.
- 40:30Hold on.
- 40:31Hold the phone.
- 40:32Okay.
- 40:33Let's go ahead and finish this up a little bit.
- 40:34Joe coming out with it.
- 40:35Well, the only other thing on here was Alpine before he moved on.
- 40:37Oh, Alpine.
- 40:38Whatever.
- 40:39Like you said, O'Connor would be seen.
- 40:40Gastly had a pretty solid weekend as a whole, so my boy, represent.
- 40:46Yeah.
- 40:47Gastly doing good.
- 40:48Gastly doing good.
- 40:49Sorry, Gastly.
- 40:50That's all you get this week.
- 40:51But I want to hear what you got to say because you seem fired up about it.
- 40:55Why is everyone saying Lawson is suited to take Checos seat and they're not talking about
- 41:01Yuki?
- 41:02And I say everyone as in commentators.
- 41:08Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 41:09You brought it up a little bit last week too.
- 41:11And that is interesting.
- 41:12There's nowhere, like literally nowhere, nobody's talking about taking over Checos seat.
- 41:17Yeah.
- 41:18It just doesn't, it doesn't make sense.
- 41:19It doesn't really make sense.
- 41:22I think Liam's a really good driver, but Yuki has more experience.
- 41:26He's been on the team longer.
- 41:29Wait a minute.
- 41:30Wait a minute.
- 41:31Could you imagine though, if they decide to give Yuki the seat, give Checo the opportunity
- 41:35to drive the racing bull, if he chooses, let's say he chooses it.
- 41:39Oh, now you have Checo and Liam on the same team.
- 41:42Oh man.
- 41:43That's crazy.
- 41:44Let's go do some PR photos.
- 41:46Oh yeah.
- 41:47They're going to have to make nice really quickly.
- 41:49Oh man.
- 41:50They're going to have to make nice super quickly.
- 41:51It would be all for show too.
- 41:52I just, I'm not even sure if Checo would take the bottom seat.
- 41:55I don't even know if they would offer it to him to be honest.
- 41:58You don't really.
- 41:59I think they're going to go the route of Danny Rick.
- 42:00I'm going to take him out into the field.
- 42:02They're going to say goodbye.
- 42:04You got to go that way.
- 42:06Keep walking.
- 42:07Checo could be done all together.
- 42:09I just, I just, yeah, I just, his, this weekend was so bad for him.
- 42:14It was so bad.
- 42:15Yeah.
- 42:16Yeah.
- 42:17So incredibly bad, but his, his fighting, Checo's version of fighting right now is pretty
- 42:21much what to, Oh, that was another thing he said too real quick, but Checo's version
- 42:25of fighting is almost turning into max is where it's like the last resort is just like,
- 42:29let me just get in your way and push you out of the way and see what happens.
- 42:32Cause I know you're going to avoid me.
- 42:34So yeah, you know, and that's kind of what it feels like he's been doing.
- 42:37Um, and that was one of the other things that Checo said about Liam is that, Oh yeah.
- 42:43When a, I don't know why I'm talking in that voice.
- 42:45Checo doesn't talk like that.
- 42:47Oh yeah.
- 42:48But Checo was saying something about how when a two time world champion is talking to you
- 42:54and Liam wasn't paying attention to any of that at all, you know, that's where, you know,
- 42:58I think that's where he needs to be more humble.
- 43:00Who is he talking about?
- 43:01Like, who's Max a three time?
- 43:04Oh, was Max not?
- 43:07Was Liam?
- 43:08I guess I don't know the context.
- 43:09Like he was just bringing it up as an example.
- 43:10He's like, you know, this last week, whatever, I can't remember.
- 43:14It was in that same article by, Oh, of course I'm off that article now, but maybe don't
- 43:18be in the position to fight Liam because you're in a Red Bull.
- 43:21Well, and that's what, and that's all that, that's why I brought it up is like, that's
- 43:24all it is is Checo is just mad because he's not performing.
- 43:27So he needs to bring something else up to kind of level that out a little bit.
- 43:30So not all the eyes are on him.
- 43:33Yes.
- 43:34Um, but I don't know.
- 43:36Liam was a little bit too aggressive.
- 43:39If I'm a Red Bull brass, you know, I'm like, Whoa, I think they were both aggressive with
- 43:45each other.
- 43:46We need to take that down a little bit because we own both of these.
- 43:48Yes.
- 43:49And that's, that's where, that's where we keep on coming back to, right?
- 43:52They shouldn't have to do that.
- 43:54Like they shouldn't, the helmet Marco shouldn't have to go to Liam and say, you shouldn't
- 43:57have done that.
- 43:58That should never ever happen.
- 44:00Like one, a total Wolf shouldn't go to Albon in Williams and say, Hey, don't fight George.
- 44:08Don't do that.
- 44:09Like that's not, that shouldn't happen, but it's happening.
- 44:12A total Wolf isn't doing that as a helmet Marco, obviously.
- 44:14Right.
- 44:15It just can't, do you think it would get to that point though, where Toto even would do
- 44:18that though?
- 44:19I don't think the relationship between Mercedes and Williams is as tight knit.
- 44:22I don't think it is either.
- 44:23I don't think like they have, they have granted vowels come, came from Mercedes.
- 44:27So they're going to have respect for each other obviously.
- 44:29But when it comes to on the track, they're going to fight each other.
- 44:32Why wouldn't you?
- 44:33You know?
- 44:34Yeah.
- 44:35You're out there getting points.
- 44:36You're out there getting points.
- 44:37Like you can, yeah, I had a whole conversation with like just about that about Mercedes and
- 44:43Williams and then Red Bull and yeah, just like, because George took a Mercedes seat
- 44:49when he was in a Williams, a couple, like the year before he jumped into the Mercedes
- 44:53seat, seat because, um, Hamilton was sick.
- 44:57And so they pulled George from Williams.
- 45:00And so one argument-
- 45:01And you just don't like seeing that?
- 45:02I think, in that scenario I'm kind of okay with.
- 45:06I don't think it should be happening.
- 45:07But that's like the only scenario?
- 45:08Yeah.
- 45:09So maybe like a bias-
- 45:10Or if Carlos Sainz needs an appendix.
- 45:12Yeah.
- 45:13And maybe like a biased opinion on my, on my front because he's not a reserve driver.
- 45:16He has a team that he's already in.
- 45:18So he really should be racing in that team, you know?
- 45:21Fair enough.
- 45:22And scoring points for that team.
- 45:23But because he was in the Mercedes, um-
- 45:25I can see that.
- 45:26So if it's, if, even if that instance where Lewis is sick, you need to use the reserve
- 45:31driver.
- 45:32You shouldn't have the option to pull from another team, a starting, again, quote unquote
- 45:36starting driver-
- 45:37A full-time driver.
- 45:38From another, a full-time driver from another team.
- 45:40Yeah.
- 45:41Okay.
- 45:42That's the kind of the argument.
- 45:43That I can get behind for sure.
- 45:44I like having the minor league teams to kind of work your way up.
- 45:47Yeah.
- 45:48I'm totally cool with having these, and this is kind of the point, driver academies.
- 45:52That's why they were able to do that with, with, uh, with George.
- 45:55Or that's why George got the opportunity because he was in the Mercedes driver academy.
- 45:59But now it's, but now it does look, it is weird for teams like Aston and, uh, like Alpine
- 46:05that are just kind of, you know, loners.
- 46:08Because it's Haas technically a driver academy for Ferrari or not?
- 46:10Haas is in, yes.
- 46:11Yes.
- 46:12Haas is in the same driver academy.
- 46:13Uh, Kick is in the same driver academy as Ferrari.
- 46:15Yeah.
- 46:16McLaren's on their own.
- 46:17Alpine-
- 46:18And I think Aston, I think-
- 46:19Aston is in-
- 46:20Aston uses the Mercedes.
- 46:21Aston is also in Mercedes.
- 46:22Oh, are they?
- 46:23I think Aston is also in Mercedes.
- 46:24I don't know if they use their drivers as much, but I-
- 46:26They use their engines, I know, right?
- 46:27Yeah, they use their engine.
- 46:28Yeah, I knew that, but I wasn't sure if they were part of the Mercedes tree or not.
- 46:32I don't know.
- 46:33Maybe they are though.
- 46:34All of my, all of my knowledge comes from like the F1 games more or less.
- 46:37I don't know for sure.
- 46:38Fair enough.
- 46:39So, um, so I'm like not the expert at this whatsoever.
- 46:41Oh, okay.
- 46:42Um, yeah, I think Alpine is by themselves and so is McLaren.
- 46:45Speaking of F1 game, at the end of news, I will bring up the F1 game again and you gotta
- 46:49tell me your bit there.
- 46:51But Kev, with that, let's head right into our news.
- 47:05And right back at it, the first order business on our news agenda here.
- 47:10Uh, Honda and Alpine, Honda being, I mean, pretty much Red Bull, I guess, but Honda and
- 47:14Alpine, fined by FIA for engine cost cap breach.
- 47:20Um, like Alpine is going to have to pay the FIA $400,000, uh, for this situation.
- 47:27I don't really know all that much about it, but it's the first I'm hearing of it too.
- 47:32Um, a bunch of money being thrown around.
- 47:33So the engine suppliers breached cost cap.
- 47:36Yeah.
- 47:37Not the teams.
- 47:38So Honda supplies Red Bull, but it's not the team and V carb obviously, but it's not the
- 47:41team.
- 47:42Um, here he does the power.
- 47:45This is from planetf1.com.
- 47:47I've actually used this site before, I think.
- 47:50So how reliable we are, uh, the power unit financial regulations, which came into effect
- 47:55on January 1st, 2023, impose a cost gap on spending by the power unit manufacturers with
- 48:01the limit currently set at 95 million.
- 48:03The limit increases to 130 million for 2026 and beyond, uh, with the new engine formula
- 48:11coming into effect.
- 48:13So they have, the manufacturers has spent over that 95 million threshold and will be
- 48:19fined accordingly.
- 48:21Imagine spending $95 million on an engine.
- 48:24Over that.
- 48:25Yeah.
- 48:26That's your, that's your cap.
- 48:27You can only spend $95 million.
- 48:29That's crazy.
- 48:30Oh, you went over that.
- 48:31Here's another $400,000 fine.
- 48:34Good luck.
- 48:35So, no, does this apply to the cars?
- 48:37Like are they already using these engines that they've like went over the cost cap?
- 48:41Cause that could like.
- 48:42That's a good point.
- 48:43Or is this for 2025 engines?
- 48:45Yeah, I don't know.
- 48:46Um, Honda's paying 600,000 by the way.
- 48:50Turns out this is how you said Honda and Alpine.
- 48:54Yeah.
- 48:55Honda and Renault.
- 48:56Yep.
- 48:57Yep.
- 48:58Yep.
- 48:59Yeah.
- 49:00Alpine still using the Renault in-house engines, which they're really high on by the way, going
- 49:04forward for 2025.
- 49:06And they're really, really, really excited about the 2026 engines that Alpines are.
- 49:11I only know that cause I follow all their crap because I guess if I'm any fan right
- 49:15now, I'm an Alpine fan.
- 49:16Woe is me.
- 49:17But, uh, but a lot of good things coming.
- 49:21I'll just spew what they're spewing.
- 49:23That's it.
- 49:24Maybe I'll give you an update next week.
- 49:25Sure.
- 49:26Yeah.
- 49:27Yeah.
- 49:28Absolutely.
- 49:29Yeah.
- 49:30Yeah.
- 49:31They got a heck of a lineup.
- 49:32They, yeah.
- 49:33Who's their second driver next year?
- 49:34Jack Dilan.
- 49:35Oh yeah.
- 49:36And, uh, Leslie.
- 49:37Yeah.
- 49:38Could be fun.
- 49:39Could be.
- 49:40I'm going to be watching Pierre too.
- 49:41Sure.
- 49:42You over Pierre?
- 49:43I was never into Pierre.
- 49:44Pierre.
- 49:45Yeah.
- 49:46Is he just, I know that, but he's like, you just take, taking up space.
- 49:49Oh, I mean, he's, he just had really two really good weekends and I want to call it out.
- 49:52You know, he had, he's racing really, really well and you know, in comparison to Ocon,
- 49:57who is not.
- 49:58So yeah, I think he deserves the call out.
- 50:00He, Hey, Hey, Gasly, congratulations.
- 50:03You got my call out.
- 50:04I know he's watching.
- 50:05I know he watches.
- 50:06Oh yeah.
- 50:07He's avid.
- 50:08He's avid because I'm such a fan.
- 50:09We hang out all the time.
- 50:12Anyway, uh, Helmut allegedly coming out, coming out, saying something.
- 50:25It seemed like shade at Lando.
- 50:27That's kind of how people were taking it.
- 50:29You're saying he's more talking about Piazzery.
- 50:32He could be talking about both.
- 50:33Helmut talks, Helmut talks a lot.
- 50:35I know, dude.
- 50:36I feel like he's in the news all the time, just spewing nonsense.
- 50:39Yeah.
- 50:40Um, Oh yeah.
- 50:41So the thing I saw with Helmut, uh, was that he said that there's like a vacuum at Red
- 50:48Bull and Piazzery could, could feel that vacuum and past who's asked about it.
- 50:53And his exact words were, that's just Helmut talking again.
- 50:56Like that's, that's what he does.
- 50:57Right.
- 50:58It's not going to happen.
- 50:59Yeah.
- 51:00Yeah.
- 51:01It's not going to happen.
- 51:02There's no, I think pastries is very comfortable where he is.
- 51:03I don't see him leaving.
- 51:04Like really at all.
- 51:05You got a championship contending car.
- 51:07Who leaves first?
- 51:09Landon or Piazzery?
- 51:10Oh, that's such a good question.
- 51:11If it comes down to that, if it comes down to that moment.
- 51:15I think Landon.
- 51:16I don't think we're seeing it anytime soon.
- 51:18No, no, no.
- 51:19I think Landon would be the first to leave because he's been there for so long.
- 51:22I think he would be the first to want to try something else.
- 51:25Whereas I think Oscar.
- 51:26Daniel Ricardo situation.
- 51:27Time to go.
- 51:28Yeah.
- 51:29Although it's hard for Oscar because Oscar like left Alpine right as they were announcing
- 51:34him as their driver to go to Mcclaren.
- 51:36That was a really weird situation.
- 51:37It was an incredibly weird situation.
- 51:38I remember right.
- 51:39Because they announced him as the new driver and then like what?
- 51:42Two days later?
- 51:43Or was it the same day?
- 51:44I thought it was a couple days later.
- 51:45It was something like that.
- 51:46But it was just like, no.
- 51:47Actually.
- 51:48I will not be going there.
- 51:49That's cap, your honor.
- 51:50I did not do that.
- 51:52That's cap.
- 51:53Oh my God.
- 51:55We're so unhip.
- 51:56Anyway.
- 51:57Yeah.
- 51:58So anyway, nothing big.
- 52:00That's really, nothing craziest came out yet for other news.
- 52:04We're done with silly season, you know?
- 52:06Yeah.
- 52:07Yeah.
- 52:08The biggest thing, the only seat left is kick, right?
- 52:10Yeah.
- 52:11Oh, one other thing I wanted to bring up.
- 52:13Yeah.
- 52:14So, oh, is it, is it on this phone?
- 52:17I have a work phone and one personal.
- 52:19It's nothing serious.
- 52:20Before anybody makes assumptions why he's got two phones.
- 52:25Okay.
- 52:26So there's an Instagram post by Checos dad.
- 52:31That people are like reading into a little bit here and he worded some things weird and
- 52:36maybe that's just, you know, Spanish to English type deal.
- 52:39I don't know.
- 52:40But here's the post really quick.
- 52:42And then I still want to ask you about that.
- 52:43Let's do it.
- 52:44And then we got to get into your preview.
- 52:46But anyway, hold on.
- 52:47I believe again, this is Instagram post by his dad.
- 52:50But of course the top of it's cut off, right?
- 52:53So anybody could have posted this and put a picture of Checo there, right?
- 52:56But this was on an F1 page or whatever that fall on Facebook.
- 53:00So again, really good source.
- 53:03The only place to get your information is meta.
- 53:06A guy sent me this picture and it's really poorly cropped.
- 53:09Yeah.
- 53:10Anyway, it says your first formula race, formula one race of Sergio Perez, 2011 Grand Prix
- 53:17of Australia.
- 53:18It's a picture of him, young Sergio right here.
- 53:20And then the next picture you slide over would be and his last race Grand Prix of Mexico
- 53:242024 kind of weird.
- 53:26His maximum pride, the most beautiful flag in the world.
- 53:29You guys together until the end of the movie.
- 53:31Thank you, Checo Perez.
- 53:32Today you are the most known Mexican on the planet.
- 53:34We have to be very proud of what you have accomplished.
- 53:36Always remember that the worst race of your life was in Mexico when you were 12 years
- 53:41old and they kicked you out of cartism of your country 2002.
- 53:45And look what you have accomplished and the best is yet to come.
- 53:48I love you son.
- 53:49So a lot of people are taking that like, do they know something that nobody else does?
- 53:54Did they plan on Checos last final race being in Mexico?
- 53:59That's where a lot of people are taking it.
- 54:01My guess is last race.
- 54:02And then a lot of people are like, dang, he's ripping his son apart saying that was his
- 54:06worst race.
- 54:07Yeah.
- 54:08I think a lot is probably lost in translation.
- 54:09Last race could just mean that the last race that happened and his worst race, he's talking
- 54:13about the carding thing.
- 54:14Yes.
- 54:15Yeah.
- 54:16100%.
- 54:17That's all I think is the carding thing.
- 54:18I thought you were going to say, I thought you were going to say Checo to kick.
- 54:20That's why you were like.
- 54:21No, no, no, no, no.
- 54:23Not that tin foil hat.
- 54:25Yes.
- 54:26Unless, whoa, wait a minute.
- 54:30I mean, nah, I don't think it would be in V-carb for last four races of the season.
- 54:35No, I'm not.
- 54:36I don't think Checos.
- 54:37I want to be very clear.
- 54:38I think Checo is not a head jar.
- 54:41Checo is not being kicked.
- 54:43I think he's, he's finishing the season no matter what.
- 54:45Yeah, no, I agree.
- 54:46He's finishing the season.
- 54:47I don't think he's going to be racing in red.
- 54:49I think this will be a conversation.
- 54:51I just made it up right now.
- 54:52We will have a show at the end of the season.
- 54:54That'll be like a season wrap.
- 54:55Oh, that's a good idea.
- 54:56I like that idea.
- 54:57And off season preview kind of of things.
- 55:00That will be a conversation.
- 55:01Does Checo stay in the seat?
- 55:02Well, we'll talk about that as we get closer.
- 55:04We still got four more races to be excited about here.
- 55:07Stay tuned.
- 55:08Does Lando catch Max for the championship?
- 55:10But anyway, probably not at this point, by the way.
- 55:13That'll be tough.
- 55:14Tough to do.
- 55:15The video game, F1 2024.
- 55:16You wanted to go off on it.
- 55:18I do want to go off on it.
- 55:19And I was talking to you about it.
- 55:21I'm going to try getting, because I wrote a review for the game as well.
- 55:24And I think it sums things up pretty nicely.
- 55:26Where did you write the review?
- 55:28It's on Steam, which is where I bought the game.
- 55:32And I just want to be clear.
- 55:33I never write reviews for games.
- 55:35It has to really make me angry.
- 55:37But I think the whole thing is the F1 game is made by a company called EA.
- 55:48Or it's produced by a company called EA, Electronic Arts.
- 55:51And they're produced.
- 55:52Yes, exactly.
- 55:54It's produced by another company called Codemasters.
- 55:57EA makes yearly sports games.
- 56:00They make F1.
- 56:03They make NBA.
- 56:04They make NFL.
- 56:05They make pretty much all of them, right?
- 56:08And they're all the same except worse every single year.
- 56:15They don't build them till they're complete.
- 56:20They take the last game.
- 56:21They add in one or two new features.
- 56:23Maybe they change the UI up a little bit.
- 56:25And then they ship it out.
- 56:26It's the same game otherwise.
- 56:27Put a little lipstick on it.
- 56:28A little bit of lipstick, right?
- 56:29Make it look a little prettier.
- 56:30And then they have all of these bugs.
- 56:32All of these bugs they have to continuously try to fix.
- 56:35So some of the bugs I'm experiencing in my F1 24 game, there is, we got to season two
- 56:43in my co-op career.
- 56:44The weather is always the same.
- 56:46The weather is always the same.
- 56:47It never changes.
- 56:48It's always sunny.
- 56:49It never ever changes.
- 56:50I get rain in my single.
- 56:51Yes.
- 56:52After season two though, after season two it just stops.
- 56:55Oh, so it gets really bland after.
- 56:58I wonder if that's a percentage thing if they know.
- 57:00I think, yes.
- 57:01Oh, this percent of people only play past season two so we're no longer going to develop
- 57:05anything past there.
- 57:06I'm going to.
- 57:07So season three, four, five, six is going to be exactly like season two.
- 57:11Yes.
- 57:12I'm going to read you the review that I made of this game because I feel like I put it
- 57:15all together pretty nicely.
- 57:17I said I won't be buying a F1 25 if it's anything like this game, which historically it will
- 57:22be.
- 57:23The new career recognition feature makes you play the game longer and makes you unable
- 57:27to upgrade the car to a maximum level, which is funny because after the first season the
- 57:32game starts to break.
- 57:33It starts to crack.
- 57:34I'm getting issues where, like I said, I don't get the weather, which is, it's a UI issue.
- 57:39I don't really care that much.
- 57:40But I'm also getting issues where I'll go into races and it just won't start the race.
- 57:45We'll be in the starting grid forever and it will never start the race or it'll put
- 57:48me in positions that are not my own.
- 57:51They added, or I have a crash mid-race.
- 57:54They added secret meetings for really cool, but the end of the season, if you won the
- 57:57entire WDC, you still only get to pick whatever your recognition allows you to, which makes
- 58:03you grind even more.
- 58:05The currency of the game is relatively easy to get if you play the game and if you buy
- 58:10the season pass.
- 58:11But the currency is only very select to a very certain amount of items, their cosmetics,
- 58:16that they want you to pay actual real life money for.
- 58:19They made them incredibly expensive.
- 58:21Then they also just released an update.
- 58:22I don't think they released it.
- 58:23They pulled it back because of the stuff they were getting from it, the reviews they were
- 58:28getting from it.
- 58:29They wanted to put an expiration date on that currency that you buy as well.
- 58:34Oh, yeah.
- 58:35That's bogus.
- 58:36So my biggest complaint- That's EA Sports, man.
- 58:38EA, yes.
- 58:39EA is an awful studio.
- 58:40Same thing in Madden and all them.
- 58:42It's there in offer studio.
- 58:43It's pay to play.
- 58:44They publish unfinished games.
- 58:45They repeat previous yearly games with no significant improvements to design, mechanics,
- 58:50functionalities, quality of life.
- 58:53And Codemasters is not doing a very good job as well.
- 58:56F123 sucked too, but it was better than F124 at least.
- 59:00So I will not be buying F125.
- 59:01You are boycotting F125.
- 59:02I'm-
- 59:03I just-
- 59:04The EA F1 series is done for you.
- 59:09I tried it.
- 59:10It's my favorite sport.
- 59:11It's the only sport game I want to buy and play.
- 59:14Does iRacing offer Formula One?
- 59:15iRacing is so expensive.
- 59:16It is, though.
- 59:17No, trust me.
- 59:18You have to get to a really good- I am not good.
- 59:22I want to be clear, but it's fun to drive.
- 59:24I'm decent, but I'm not good.
- 59:26You need to be good to get to that level in iRacing.
- 59:28You can't just jump into an F1 car and then play the game.
- 59:32Yeah, fair enough.
- 59:33It's tough.
- 59:34So this is your main only option and it's-
- 59:37Yes.
- 59:38It's done.
- 59:39F124-
- 59:40They're focusing more on the liveries and the pay to play situation.
- 59:43Yeah, and they have this challenge career mode which got really old really quickly.
- 59:47Once again, it locks you into a six race season that takes a long time, so you're grinding
- 59:53again.
- 59:54I haven't played in any of the multiplayer, to be fair, so that could be a redeeming quality
- 59:58of the game, but otherwise they just repackage the game.
- 1:00:02And they recently just said that they're going to stop fixing certain bugs until F125.
- 1:00:06In fact, I think they said that.
- 1:00:08They're going to stop fixing bugs until F125.
- 1:00:09So the game's already dead to them, which is exactly how EA works.
- 1:00:13They want to start working up on F125 and it's like, great.
- 1:00:16There are tracks with bugs that when you get onto a certain part of the track, there's
- 1:00:20a bump that sends your car flying off way.
- 1:00:22Like random invisible bumps that you can get into.
- 1:00:25Sweet.
- 1:00:26I've talked too much about a video game.
- 1:00:28No, you're fine.
- 1:00:29I'm heated.
- 1:00:30We wanted to know how you felt and now everybody knows.
- 1:00:33I relived this.
- 1:00:34I made this review two or three weeks ago and so I relived this as I was talking about
- 1:00:38it with other friends and now I'm bringing it up.
- 1:00:41The energy off of you reliving.
- 1:00:43I'm a very passionate gamer and I feel screwed over.
- 1:00:46Yeah, no doubt.
- 1:00:47You pay money for it.
- 1:00:48You want to get a good product and it's just not a good product.
- 1:00:52Don't buy F125.
- 1:00:53Don't buy F125.
- 1:00:54Wait to buy F125.
- 1:00:56Do not buy it day one.
- 1:00:58Do not buy it day one.
- 1:00:59Wait to see until reviews come out.
- 1:01:00Yeah, they're not going to be good reviews.
- 1:01:02Hey, spoiler alert.
- 1:01:03It's not going to be good, but don't buy the deluxe edition or whatever.
- 1:01:08Don't spend your money until you're absolutely ready.
- 1:01:11Or I said this in chat, buy F123 and mod it.
- 1:01:14Do that instead.
- 1:01:15Just mod it so it's like your year.
- 1:01:17We're never getting sponsored by ESports.
- 1:01:20That's okay.
- 1:01:21I would decline.
- 1:01:22It'd be a lot of money probably.
- 1:01:25But with that, let's head with that, let's head right into our Brazil preview.
- 1:02:26And right back at it here to start off our Brazil preview.
- 1:02:41Like always, like I said at the beginning of the show, this one's just called Joe's.
- 1:02:44Apostrophe S though.
- 1:02:46So he owns it.
- 1:02:47It's his.
- 1:02:48Yes.
- 1:02:49This is Joe's recap of Brazil last year.
- 1:02:51It is not Joe's review of F124.
- 1:02:55I got it out of my system though, so now we can move on.
- 1:02:58So this year, Formula One Lenovo Grande Premio de São Paulo 2024.
- 1:03:04Fun fact, since the hybrid power units were released, thank you.
- 1:03:08Mercedes has won here all but three times since the new hybrid power units.
- 1:03:16I know I said I wasn't going to talk about it, but on the game, this track feels like
- 1:03:20a roller coaster.
- 1:03:21Like there's a lot of altitude changes and turns.
- 1:03:23In 2022, KMAG got pole position at the track in a Haas.
- 1:03:30I believe this is the year when like a literal monsoon finished the qualifying session.
- 1:03:34I don't know if you remember, but like it was qualifying and then all of a sudden it
- 1:03:38got really dark and then it just started calming down.
- 1:03:41KMAG was the only one that switched tires too?
- 1:03:43I don't think, no, they didn't race.
- 1:03:45I think they got like shut because they, some of them.
- 1:03:48I'm thinking of a different KMAG situation.
- 1:03:49Yeah.
- 1:03:50I think some of them were able to get laps out, but they already had soft laps.
- 1:03:53So they wouldn't go out on wets.
- 1:03:55And I think the FIA shut down the race or shut down qualifying because of how bad it
- 1:04:01was.
- 1:04:02Yeah.
- 1:04:03Sure.
- 1:04:04So getting into the recaps, our starting grid is Max to Charles to Lance.
- 1:04:07Starting the race off strong, Charles Eclair has a hydraulic fault during the formation
- 1:04:11lap, locks up and spins directly into the wall.
- 1:04:14I forget about that.
- 1:04:16Yeah, me too.
- 1:04:17So with that being said, our starting grid is Max, Lance, and then Fernando.
- 1:04:22Off the line, Lando and Lewis get an incredible start and jet ahead of both of the Aston Martins.
- 1:04:27Meanwhile, a couple of car lengths behind them, Hulkenberg and Alban make contact, sending
- 1:04:32the Williams careening out of control further up the grid, which collects the Haas of KMAG.
- 1:04:36Hult continues forward while KMAG and Alban find themselves in the wall.
- 1:04:40Unfortunately, Danny Rick is caught in the carnage as a piece of debris hits his back
- 1:04:44wing and breaks it.
- 1:04:45I think a wheel literally like bounced off the track and just took out his rear wing.
- 1:04:49Poor Danny Rick.
- 1:04:50Yeah.
- 1:04:51And then a car into a red flag is then called out.
- 1:04:53So with that being said, our restart...
- 1:04:55Charles hits hard too.
- 1:04:56Yeah, yeah, seriously.
- 1:04:58With that being said, our restarting grid is Max to Lando to Lewis.
- 1:05:02We see another great start from Max who rockets ahead, leaving Lando and Lewis to tussle at
- 1:05:06the first corner.
- 1:05:07Everyone is able to keep it out of the wall and the race finally starts.
- 1:05:10At the end of the first straight at turn five, Alonso takes third place back from Lewis,
- 1:05:15who tries to fight back at the next corner but needs to back off.
- 1:05:18At the 8th we watch as Lando trails Max on the starting straight, three tenths behind
- 1:05:22with DRS open.
- 1:05:23He can't make the move on the straight and unfortunately Max's defense holds him off
- 1:05:26onto the next one as well.
- 1:05:28He slots him behind Max who begins to form a gap.
- 1:05:31Lap 14, Perez makes a move on George for fifth and sticks it in the first corner.
- 1:05:35George responds immediately by tacking at the next corner, following closely behind
- 1:05:38with DRS.
- 1:05:39However, Perez takes the inside, blocks any attempt of an overtake.
- 1:05:43And the four laps later we watch as Perez makes the move on Hamilton for fourth, utilizing
- 1:05:46some of the Red Bull power.
- 1:05:48This is where we see it start coming from a Perez kind of show to a Mercedes downfall.
- 1:05:57Stroll overtakes Russell for his net six position after they both pit.
- 1:06:00On lap 27, Stroll makes the move on the other Mercedes for fifth place.
- 1:06:05More cars begin overtaking the Mercedes as Carlos takes George and then Lewis, pushing
- 1:06:10them down to seventh and sixth.
- 1:06:12There's more.
- 1:06:13Here, Gasly in the Alpine overtakes Russell on lap 47 and then makes the same move on
- 1:06:18Hamilton three laps later.
- 1:06:19The commentators calling it not a contest at all.
- 1:06:22The Mercedes was in shambles this race.
- 1:06:25As I was watching the highlights, I was like, I remember feeling like I was helpless watching
- 1:06:29them.
- 1:06:30Just like falling down the grid.
- 1:06:31It was so rough.
- 1:06:34While this is all happening, I wrote this down, both Alfa Romeo's have also DNF'd.
- 1:06:39The highlights did not cover that, so I'm guessing they were just being Alfa Romeo's.
- 1:06:45Speaking of retires, George retires on lap 59 due to car issues, bringing him mercy to
- 1:06:50the awful day he was already having.
- 1:06:52Unfortunately losing out a couple of points.
- 1:06:54Where did George start again though?
- 1:06:55Did you have that?
- 1:06:56I forget.
- 1:06:57He started in...
- 1:06:58He was up there.
- 1:06:59He was up there.
- 1:07:00Fifth?
- 1:07:01Yeah.
- 1:07:02Okay.
- 1:07:03Yeah, he started in fifth.
- 1:07:04Okay.
- 1:07:05Lap 70 of 71, Sergio makes the move on Alonso at turn one for the final podium position
- 1:07:09and sticks it and he keeps it through the next corner.
- 1:07:12At the last lap of the race, Alonso gets ready to fight back and goes along at the straight
- 1:07:17before turn three, makes the overtake and slides in front of Checo as they finish the
- 1:07:21corner.
- 1:07:22This fight continues through this last lap and they were close to being side to side
- 1:07:25when they crossed the finish line.
- 1:07:27Alonso just barely making the position with Checo.
- 1:07:30DRS open, rocketship behind him.
- 1:07:33Alonso gets third by 53 thousandths of a second.
- 1:07:37So our finalist, Max Lando Alonso, Checo's stroll signs, Gastly, Hamilton and Sonota.
- 1:07:42Yeah, and Checo, yeah, I'm seeing it here.
- 1:07:45Checo is charging hard right there.
- 1:07:46Yeah, he was charging.
- 1:07:47Yeah, he was giving it everything he had.
- 1:07:48I was watching him do that and it was actually kind of making me...
- 1:07:51It was making me question a little bit about how I should do my podium this week.
- 1:07:56I question a lot of things right now.
- 1:07:59Yeah, and then I was...
- 1:08:00But I was thinking about it and I was like, okay, but last year Checo actually won a couple
- 1:08:03races.
- 1:08:04Checo has been just... Abysmal.
- 1:08:07Constantly bad.
- 1:08:08Only 14 cars finished that race last year.
- 1:08:10Yes, yeah, it was a lot of DNFs.
- 1:08:13That's wild.
- 1:08:14So before we get into our predictions, we got to give you a points update.
- 1:08:19Finally, I got it all together.
- 1:08:21Again, we did not do any bonus points last week.
- 1:08:25So Tyler is leading us at 44 points.
- 1:08:30Cole made a jump.
- 1:08:31Cole is two points behind at 42.
- 1:08:35I am behind him at 36.
- 1:08:38Next step down.
- 1:08:39And then Joe is two points behind me at 34.
- 1:08:42So Joe and I are battling for third.
- 1:08:45Wait, we're battling for...
- 1:08:46Oh yeah, third.
- 1:08:47There's only four of us.
- 1:08:48Essentially.
- 1:08:49Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:50You got excited for a minute?
- 1:08:51I was like, yeah.
- 1:08:52It's like third of the podium.
- 1:08:53I'm almost in points.
- 1:08:54Yeah, yeah.
- 1:08:55No, so to start us off, Tyler, since he's leading, we'll go ahead and give his podium
- 1:09:05first.
- 1:09:06Tyler's podium is Charles, Orlando, and Science.
- 1:09:12Charles, Orlando, and Science.
- 1:09:15I think that's a really good prediction.
- 1:09:17Cole, same podium.
- 1:09:19Charles, Orlando, and Science.
- 1:09:25And since I'm next, I am also going Charles, Orlando, but I'm going to get crazy because
- 1:09:33I need to take a shot.
- 1:09:35I'm going Charles, Orlando, and I just, I don't know, considering where the Mercedes
- 1:09:42started last year.
- 1:09:43You're not about to say Mercedes, are you?
- 1:09:45Where the Aston's finished last year.
- 1:09:47It makes me feel...
- 1:09:48But it's going to be...
- 1:09:53Man.
- 1:09:55Say it out loud.
- 1:09:57But George, I'm going George for P3.
- 1:10:00I really wanted to go Lewis since I decided I was going to go Mercedes anyway, but it's,
- 1:10:07I don't know, man.
- 1:10:08I got to take a shot at something, and right now I'm not feeling like it's Max, which is
- 1:10:12wild to say, but especially when Cole and Tyler don't take Max.
- 1:10:19There's an opportunity there to move up one.
- 1:10:21All right, Joe, lay it on us.
- 1:10:25Okay.
- 1:10:26So the two that I'm for sure going to keep in my podium are going to be Max and Lando.
- 1:10:29Whoa, Max living in the podium too, huh?
- 1:10:33I think, I mean, I just...
- 1:10:36You guys haven't picked them, so that's...
- 1:10:37Multi-time world champion.
- 1:10:38That's what I'm saying.
- 1:10:39You guys haven't picked them, so now it's a safe bet.
- 1:10:40That's why I had to do something.
- 1:10:41It's not a safe bet for me, but it's a good opportunity for me to get points.
- 1:10:44And I think even though he's slow in his car right now, he's still fast enough to make
- 1:10:49podium, I think.
- 1:10:50Oh, I thought you were going like check out for a second for the third spot.
- 1:10:53I was like, wait a minute.
- 1:10:54So my third is between Charles and Sines.
- 1:11:02Charles did not race in this...
- 1:11:05He did not race last year because he crashed in formation.
- 1:11:11Carlos coming off a win.
- 1:11:12And he finished okay last year at this race.
- 1:11:21He finished in sixth.
- 1:11:24Charles qualified second.
- 1:11:26So on my piece of paper, I have Max, Lando, and Carlos.
- 1:11:30I'm going to say Max, Lando, and Charles.
- 1:11:32Max, Lando, and Charles.
- 1:11:34I think Charles obviously has pace in qualifying, and I'm hoping he can show that in the race
- 1:11:41as well.
- 1:11:42Hopefully he doesn't crash in formation again.
- 1:11:44That would suck.
- 1:11:45Sure, sure, for sure.
- 1:11:46Yeah.
- 1:11:47So we all have Charles and Lando on the podium.
- 1:11:48That's wild.
- 1:11:50Let me just...
- 1:11:51Does one of us have...
- 1:11:52Oh, and then they have Carlos as well though.
- 1:11:53Yeah.
- 1:11:54They have Sines.
- 1:11:55Yeah.
- 1:11:56Man, watch Oscar get on the podium.
- 1:11:57That'd be sick.
- 1:11:58So just because I think it's funny, the first race of the year, Bahrain, we all had Verstappen
- 1:12:02on the podium.
- 1:12:06Two of us had Lewis on the podium.
- 1:12:08Another two...
- 1:12:09Two did have Lando.
- 1:12:11And then we had...
- 1:12:12The other two had Leclerc.
- 1:12:14And you had Jekyll.
- 1:12:16But at that time, we figured that Red Bull would be doing...
- 1:12:19Yep.
- 1:12:20It wasn't that outlandish.
- 1:12:22Our bonus point this week is where will K-Meg finish his exact placement?
- 1:12:29How many points are we going to get for that?
- 1:12:31That's two.
- 1:12:32Two?
- 1:12:33Bonus two point.
- 1:12:34Bonus two point.
- 1:12:35Should we do something crazy for Abu Dhabi who wins for bonus five points?
- 1:12:38Or whatever the difference is between you and first or something?
- 1:12:41I think we should...
- 1:12:42Maybe.
- 1:12:43We should have our podium predictions, but we should slot them in exactly where we think
- 1:12:47they're going to be and then have two points for each.
- 1:12:50Well I get...
- 1:12:51We're going to do that.
- 1:12:52All right.
- 1:12:53So where will K-Meg finish this week?
- 1:12:54Whoops.
- 1:12:55Fin-ish.
- 1:12:56Can't spell.
- 1:12:57Tyler says...
- 1:12:5811th.
- 1:12:59P11.
- 1:13:00Cole says P13.
- 1:13:01Hit them outside of points.
- 1:13:02I really want to see that.
- 1:13:03I'm going to go with P11.
- 1:13:04P11.
- 1:13:05P11.
- 1:13:06P11.
- 1:13:07I really wanted to do P11 with Tyler, to be honest with you.
- 1:13:12But I want to take advantage of the points.
- 1:13:18I don't want nobody else to be getting them.
- 1:13:21So I'm going to go with P12 actually.
- 1:13:24None of you are putting them in points.
- 1:13:26You want P10?
- 1:13:27I want P10.
- 1:13:28P10.
- 1:13:29I thought about it, but P10.
- 1:13:30All right.
- 1:13:31It sucks because it's very possible none of us could get points here.
- 1:13:34If he gets P9.
- 1:13:35Yeah.
- 1:13:36But if one of us does, if it's you, you're now tied with me, depending on how the rest
- 1:13:40of the podium shakes out.
- 1:13:42If it's Tyler, he just increases that lead over Cole.
- 1:13:45So if it's Cole, he might be right there with Tyler now tied for the lead going in the next
- 1:13:50week.
- 1:13:51So I think it's great that we all picked something different for the bonus points because somebody
- 1:13:56could win, or none of us.
- 1:13:57You're right.
- 1:13:58But not all of us.
- 1:13:59It won't be more than one of us getting the bonus points this week.
- 1:14:03Yeah, that's true.
- 1:14:04So no, that's interesting.
- 1:14:05That's actually a really good point.
- 1:14:06Yeah.
- 1:14:07I do like having, yeah, we have 20 options to choose from.
- 1:14:10Yeah.
- 1:14:11Yeah.
- 1:14:12And maybe that's our rule now for bonus points.
- 1:14:14Is first place goes first or last place goes first?
- 1:14:18So for them not being here, we'll just have to ask them or something.
- 1:14:22Yeah.
- 1:14:23We'll figure it out.
- 1:14:24We'll figure it out.
- 1:14:25But I do like that everybody's got a different thing.
- 1:14:27Somebody's getting two points out of this weekend or nobody.
- 1:14:29No.
- 1:14:30Yeah, no one.
- 1:14:31Yeah.
- 1:14:32So with that, again, thank you for staying with us this long.
- 1:14:37Don't forget to like, comment, subscribe, whether it's YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts,
- 1:14:42wherever you listen to the banter.
- 1:14:44And we do have one next week as well, I believe.
- 1:14:46Nope.
- 1:14:47No.
- 1:14:48Are you sure?
- 1:14:49Are you sure?
- 1:14:50Hold on.
- 1:14:51Stand by.
- 1:14:52Stand by.
- 1:14:53No, we do.
- 1:14:54After I already did the closing thing too.
- 1:14:55Darn it.
