- 0:00Speaker 1: Where you want to Thanks Mike Lane. Second game in
- 0:03Speaker 1: a row, the crack that have gotten a solid effort,
- 0:05Speaker 1: but unfortunately now for the sixth game in the row,
- 0:08Speaker 1: the results have gone the other way. Just take us
- 0:12Speaker 1: back through that effort against Minnesota two nights ago.
- 0:15Speaker 2: Well, like you said, I thought it was solid. I
- 0:17Speaker 2: didn't think we started the game. Well, there's no excuse
- 0:20Speaker 2: for that, you know, coming off of you know, the
- 0:22Speaker 2: losses that we had and coming out at home. I
- 0:25Speaker 2: thought our goaltender played very well. But then after that
- 0:27Speaker 2: I thought the game was extremely even you know, it
- 0:30Speaker 2: was going to be another one of those games like
- 0:32Speaker 2: Detroit or even like Dallas at home where you know
- 0:35Speaker 2: someone was gonna put away an opportunity. You know, unfortunately
- 0:41Speaker 2: we failed to do so, you know, told the it
- 0:44Speaker 2: at the crossbar. We had a goal post. So, you know,
- 0:48Speaker 2: for the second game in a row at home, to
- 0:53Speaker 2: you know, come out of that game without any points
- 0:56Speaker 2: is really disheartening and stings and.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Sends the frustration from the captain Jordan Eberley after the
- 1:02Speaker 1: game saying that, you know, paraphrasing, he needs more, he
- 1:06Speaker 1: wants more will and passion from the players. You agreeing
- 1:09Speaker 1: with those comments postgame, Now that we've had a thirty
- 1:11Speaker 1: six hours to sit and marinate on that, just your
- 1:14Speaker 1: overall thoughts on what he said and the challenge that's
- 1:17Speaker 1: been laid down to this group.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean I agree with them, and I think
- 1:23Speaker 2: that there's certain guys that are, you know, able to
- 1:28Speaker 2: give us more how we let's put it that way.
- 1:31Speaker 2: And you know, we are a team that needs everyone going.
- 1:36Speaker 2: We've said that right from day one. And when we
- 1:40Speaker 2: don't have everyone going and we have a couple of passengers,
- 1:44Speaker 2: it makes us harder or makes it harder for this
- 1:46Speaker 2: hockey team to win hockey games.
- 1:48Speaker 1: You've played this game for a long time, You've coached
- 1:50Speaker 1: this game for a long time. Undoubtedly you've been in
- 1:52Speaker 1: slumps before. How do you pull yourself out of something
- 1:56Speaker 1: like this?
- 1:57Speaker 2: Uh? You just you have to stay positive. You have
- 2:00Speaker 2: to have the right mindset and be determined. You know,
- 2:03Speaker 2: nobody feels sorry for you. You can't feel sorry for yourself,
- 2:07Speaker 2: you know, And sometimes it gets better worse before it
- 2:10Speaker 2: gets better. It just it's the way it is. But
- 2:13Speaker 2: if you come in with the right mindset, you continue
- 2:15Speaker 2: to stay determined and you continue to believe in the process.
- 2:19Speaker 2: You know, for me, you'll get out of it. You know,
- 2:23Speaker 2: we have played very well this year. You know, our
- 2:26Speaker 2: first twenty games were really good. And you know, it's
- 2:31Speaker 2: not like we can't do it. We have to get
- 2:32Speaker 2: back to what we're doing and get back to our.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Identity despite the dip in the season, right now the
- 2:37Speaker 1: crack and still within reaching distance of a playoff spot,
- 2:40Speaker 1: a lot of hockey left to go, and two teams
- 2:43Speaker 1: coming up that are ahead of you in the standings
- 2:45Speaker 1: in LA and Utah starting tonight with the Los Angeles Kings,
- 2:48Speaker 1: like Seattle, very defensively structured, they're not going to give
- 2:51Speaker 1: up a whole lot. What type of game can we
- 2:54Speaker 1: expect when you essentially have you know, two strong defensive
- 2:59Speaker 1: teams going up against each other, Well, it's.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Going to be a game that is going to require
- 3:05Speaker 2: determination to get to the other team's net. They're a
- 3:07Speaker 2: big hockey team, they're built for size. You know, the
- 3:11Speaker 2: defenses is very big as well, So the battle is
- 3:15Speaker 2: going to be you know, at the paint. I don't
- 3:19Speaker 2: think you can expect, you know, to make a whole
- 3:22Speaker 2: bunch of tic tac toe plays. You've got to get
- 3:25Speaker 2: greasy and you've got to get pucks to the net.
- 3:27Speaker 2: That's just the way it's going to be. So I
- 3:29Speaker 2: would expect that type of game, and you know, you
- 3:32Speaker 2: have to stay patient in that and you know, not
- 3:36Speaker 2: come out of character or take too many risks because
- 3:39Speaker 2: that's what teams like us and teams like them are
- 3:42Speaker 2: looking for. And then you know you want to transition
- 3:45Speaker 2: and you know, take advantage of those opportunities. So be
- 3:49Speaker 2: a very very very very heavy challenging hockey game tonight.
- 3:54Speaker 1: It's the dads and mentors trips, So an opportunity for
- 3:57Speaker 1: the players to show their their dads, their mentor or
- 4:00Speaker 1: their uncles, whoever may be, that all of those six
- 4:02Speaker 1: am drive to the rink, we're worth it. At one point,
- 4:05Speaker 1: what does a trip like this mean for the players?
- 4:08Speaker 1: You yourself as a father, you know, all of that
- 4:11Speaker 1: that goes into showing that appreciation for the men who
- 4:14Speaker 1: helped get these guys to where they are now.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Well that's it, right, Like nobody would be here without
- 4:21Speaker 2: you know, their dads. And you know, some of those
- 4:24Speaker 2: that don't have you know, their dads with them anymore,
- 4:27Speaker 2: they have mentors and you know, so it's an honor.
- 4:33Speaker 2: I think it's honoring them, and you know, it's a
- 4:37Speaker 2: nice way to include them in their sons' lives and
- 4:41Speaker 2: the daily happenings of their lives. You know, we play
- 4:45Speaker 2: in their national hockey league. It's a privilege. It's the
- 4:47Speaker 2: best league in the world and we get treated very
- 4:49Speaker 2: very well. So it's nice for the dads and mentors
- 4:53Speaker 2: to come and be able to experience that. You know,
- 4:57Speaker 2: in the LA King's mothers are on this trip too,
- 5:00Speaker 2: so it's just everyone involved. It's it's really nice to
- 5:02Speaker 2: be able to, I guess quote unquote give back, but
- 5:05Speaker 2: really showed an appreciation for all the sacrifices that they've
- 5:08Speaker 2: made for for our guys to be here.
