Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: We also talked about Stone Cold Steve Austin. We talked
- 0:03Speaker 1: about Austin three sixteen thirty years ago. Could there ever
- 0:07Speaker 1: be a promo that can come close? How about what
- 0:10Speaker 1: we just got from Sammy Z?
- 0:19Speaker 2: How we just got from.
- 0:20Speaker 3: Sammy C.
- 0:25Speaker 2: How we just got from sam Actually?
- 0:31Speaker 3: Can Sammy?
- 0:35Speaker 2: How about what we just got?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Servis it's business time? Baby?
- 0:48Speaker 2: You are listening to Solo Monster Sounds up. I love you,
- 0:52Speaker 2: fellow Mama Monster Concorde.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I want your soul, a woman.
- 0:58Speaker 4: You got grown ass wrestlers in the back going on Twitter.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Come over here?
- 1:02Speaker 2: Hot?
- 1:03Speaker 3: Is that hot Hudson?
- 1:04Speaker 2: You have legs?
- 1:06Speaker 1: The week I was ninety nine percent positive it was
- 1:10Speaker 1: just chessed up.
- 1:10Speaker 4: Now I have been begging him for a job on
- 1:13Speaker 4: every every platform I can, and I want to know
- 1:15Speaker 4: the reason why.
- 1:16Speaker 3: You won't heart me.
- 1:19Speaker 2: This is episode nine sixty nine of The Solo Monsters
- 1:25Speaker 2: Sounds Off. On a very busy Sunday, June twenty eighth,
- 1:29Speaker 2: twenty twenty six, I am the Solo Monster. With three
- 1:34Speaker 2: different events scheduled for today, starting with TNA Slammiversary pay
- 1:38Speaker 2: per view, but just a few hours four pm Eastern
- 1:41Speaker 2: start time for the main card followed by NXT's Great
- 1:44Speaker 2: American Bash at seven Eastern and aw's Forbidden Door pay
- 1:48Speaker 2: per view at eight pm, although their pre show at
- 1:51Speaker 2: seven goes head to head with the NXT show. Yeah,
- 1:55Speaker 2: the last two hours of the NXT show will overlap
- 1:58Speaker 2: with the first two hours of for Bitten Door, and
- 2:01Speaker 2: I would say that it'll have no effect. That it
- 2:03Speaker 2: probably won't. But the difference this time is that this
- 2:06Speaker 2: is the first nxtpl airing for free on the CW network,
- 2:10Speaker 2: So we'll see how much of a difference that makes.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I can't imagine the hardcore sikos who want to see
- 2:16Speaker 2: AW new Japan CMLL stardom talents are going to suddenly
- 2:22Speaker 2: ditch the show to watch Tony DiAngelo wrestle Narroku at
- 2:26Speaker 2: the PC. I don't think it's going to be that
- 2:28Speaker 2: much of an issue for the AW show, But I
- 2:31Speaker 2: can't ignore the elephant in the room. That clip that
- 2:34Speaker 2: you heard there at the beginning of this podcast, that
- 2:39Speaker 2: is a real clip from the Night of Champions post
- 2:42Speaker 2: show last night from Peter Rosenberg. It was Rosenberg, Joe
- 2:47Speaker 2: Tessitoor and Big Ee on the panel and those were
- 2:50Speaker 2: words that actually came out of the man's mouth, comparing
- 2:54Speaker 2: Sammy Zain's post show promo with Byron Saxton to stone
- 2:59Speaker 2: cold old Steve Austin's King of the Ring speech in
- 3:03Speaker 2: nineteen ninety six. Could there ever be a promo that
- 3:07Speaker 2: could come close? And this fucking guy with a straight
- 3:11Speaker 2: face said, yeah, how about that Sammy's Ain promo? And
- 3:17Speaker 2: all I could say is this, I hope the paycheck
- 3:20Speaker 2: is worth it, I really do. I can only hope
- 3:23Speaker 2: that that was something they threw in there for him
- 3:25Speaker 2: to say, and he didn't come up with that on
- 3:27Speaker 2: his own. And think I cooked with this, Yes, you cooked,
- 3:31Speaker 2: You cooked with cyanide, and now everyone's dead. I've heard
- 3:36Speaker 2: some dumb shit in my day, but that one takes
- 3:38Speaker 2: the kid. I mean, that wins the award and we're
- 3:40Speaker 2: only halfway through the year. Imagine what the second half
- 3:43Speaker 2: of the year will bring us. But yes, it is
- 3:46Speaker 2: a day where we wake up with Sammy Zain as
- 3:49Speaker 2: the new WWE Champion. It only took ten years, but
- 3:53Speaker 2: he did the deal and that has created all sorts
- 3:56Speaker 2: of questions now heading into SummerSlam, and I've got a
- 3:59Speaker 2: lot to say about Knight of Champions, our new King
- 4:02Speaker 2: and Queen of the Ring, where things may be headed
- 4:05Speaker 2: for Summer Salam even before SummerSlam. But we also have
- 4:09Speaker 2: some really sad news. I literally just talked about this
- 4:13Speaker 2: man on the Young Crown Show on Tuesday, and now
- 4:18Speaker 2: he's gone. Former TNA and All Japan Wrestling star Joe
- 4:23Speaker 2: Doring had just transitioned into hospice care recently, which is
- 4:27Speaker 2: usually a sign that the end is near. And on Friday,
- 4:30Speaker 2: that end came and Doring passed away at the age
- 4:34Speaker 2: of forty four, surrounded by family, including his wife Lindsay.
- 4:38Speaker 2: Joe was first diagnosed with a brain tumor ten years ago,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and I remember then that was when Alex Riley was
- 4:48Speaker 2: coming after me and he was still a WWE at
- 4:51Speaker 2: the time until he wasn't. I mean, they let him
- 4:53Speaker 2: go like a week or two after that, but he
- 4:55Speaker 2: went on this Twitter tirade. He was begging to come
- 4:58Speaker 2: on the podcast and saying he would do it for
- 5:00Speaker 2: free because he knows I probably don't have five dollars
- 5:03Speaker 2: to my name. So I put up a video on
- 5:06Speaker 2: YouTube asking everyone, Hey, let's all donate five dollars to
- 5:10Speaker 2: Joe's go Funbe campaign. All right, Like, let's turn this
- 5:13Speaker 2: negative bullshit into something positive and we raised something like
- 5:17Speaker 2: seven or eight hundred dollars. But a lot of people
- 5:21Speaker 2: did what they could to help support Joe at that time,
- 5:23Speaker 2: and he did eventually beat it. He was able to
- 5:27Speaker 2: come back to the ring. And then in twenty twenty two,
- 5:31Speaker 2: the cancer came back. There's another tumor. He was forced
- 5:34Speaker 2: into an early retirement. He underwent brain surgery, after which
- 5:39Speaker 2: he developed a condition called a taxia on his right side,
- 5:43Speaker 2: which impacted his mobility and he ended up in a wheelchair,
- 5:47Speaker 2: and then came a third brain tumor, and the news
- 5:50Speaker 2: had grown very quiet since then until his sister in
- 5:53Speaker 2: law posted on his GoFundMe that Dooring was headed for
- 5:56Speaker 2: hospice and so, I mean, you just look everything he
- 6:00Speaker 2: went through over this decade and cancer put that man
- 6:04Speaker 2: through the wringer. And you fight, and you fight and
- 6:07Speaker 2: you fight, but there's only so much the body can take.
- 6:11Speaker 2: He was at one time under a WWE developmental deal,
- 6:14Speaker 2: but before that, he came to Japan as an exchange
- 6:17Speaker 2: student in two thousand and seven to join All Japan
- 6:20Speaker 2: Pro Wrestling, which is where he found his greatest success
- 6:23Speaker 2: that first year. In fact, he entered their Real World
- 6:26Speaker 2: Tag League tournament with Kigi Muto as his tag team partner,
- 6:30Speaker 2: and they won it, a tournament that had been won
- 6:32Speaker 2: by greats. I mean you talk about great names Terry
- 6:34Speaker 2: and Dori, Funk, Junior Bruiser, Brody and Stan Hansen, Misawa
- 6:39Speaker 2: and Kobashi and so Doring won it on his first
- 6:42Speaker 2: try the year that he debuted for them, and then
- 6:45Speaker 2: together he and Muto won the tag team titles the
- 6:47Speaker 2: following year. He won their Triple Crown not once but twice,
- 6:52Speaker 2: first in twenty fourteen and then again in twenty seventeen,
- 6:56Speaker 2: which would have been after the first brain tumors. Only
- 7:00Speaker 2: seven foreign born talents to ever win the Triple Crown,
- 7:04Speaker 2: and he is in some very esteemed company names like
- 7:07Speaker 2: Terry Gordy, Stan Hansen, Doctor Debt, Steve Williams in Vader.
- 7:12Speaker 2: He signed with TNA in twenty twenty. He became a
- 7:15Speaker 2: two time tag team champion there until his cancer came back.
- 7:18Speaker 2: If you watch his work more so in the later
- 7:23Speaker 2: half or later part of his career, he reminded me
- 7:26Speaker 2: very much of a Stan Hansen with his look in
- 7:29Speaker 2: his in ring style, like the rugged cowboy that was
- 7:32Speaker 2: kind of the look and the gimmick that he was
- 7:34Speaker 2: going for. He should have enjoyed even more success than
- 7:37Speaker 2: he had, but more importantly, he should have enjoyed many
- 7:41Speaker 2: more years of life with his wife and family. And
- 7:43Speaker 2: it sucks what happened to him, and so I'm very
- 7:47Speaker 2: sorry to hear that. And the only other thing to
- 7:49Speaker 2: say about it really is just two words, and I'll
- 7:52Speaker 2: say it every time. Fuck cancer, then now and forever.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Fuck cancer. If you'd like to make a PayPal donation
- 8:02Speaker 2: and support the podcast, I do appreciate all the love
- 8:05Speaker 2: and support you guys throw my way. It's always very
- 8:08Speaker 2: much something that I take to heart, and especially you
- 8:13Speaker 2: know these days. Things right now just I think in
- 8:16Speaker 2: wrestling feel very slow and very dense. Usually there's like
- 8:21Speaker 2: a post WrestleMania lull and it's just sort of lingering,
- 8:25Speaker 2: and then you have all this other shit going on,
- 8:27Speaker 2: and times are tough for everybody. So I really do
- 8:29Speaker 2: appreciate it. But if you would like to support, you
- 8:32Speaker 2: can go to the Solomonster dot com. You'll see the
- 8:34Speaker 2: PayPal link at the top of the page. Ten dollars
- 8:37Speaker 2: or more, we'll get you a nickname and a shout
- 8:38Speaker 2: out here. I want to say thank you to Ms
- 8:40Speaker 2: Madness Michelle Mills. Always appreciate hearing from Michelle. Thank you.
- 8:46Speaker 2: I hope you're having a good one as well as
- 8:48Speaker 2: the Portland pop star Paul Hamilton. And how about this name.
- 8:53Speaker 2: We haven't heard this name in a while, James Hollywood Herrera.
- 8:57Speaker 2: What's going on, brother, It's been a while since we've
- 9:00Speaker 2: had him in the role. Call here, Big b Bryant, Bessera,
- 9:04Speaker 2: the Diamond Dallas Dance Machine, Harrison's Soep, Velvet Revolver, Robert Murray,
- 9:09Speaker 2: the Chicago Slayer, Willie Iicherd Knight Stalker, and I f
- 9:13Speaker 2: Al Safar killshot Keith Hart. We got big Homie John Burton,
- 9:18Speaker 2: who is still basking. He says, in the glow of
- 9:20Speaker 2: the Knicks championship. Well enjoy, I mean you've got another
- 9:25Speaker 2: eleven months or so, right, you may as well take
- 9:27Speaker 2: full advantage of it and all day Aaron Koiner, thank you, brother,
- 9:32Speaker 2: Glad you enjoyed the content. Last week I spent half
- 9:36Speaker 2: an hour covering TNA and the Tommy Dreamer stuff. I
- 9:40Speaker 2: noticed Eric Bischoff, who just last year sounded very optimistic
- 9:44Speaker 2: that TNA was just one good TV deal away from
- 9:48Speaker 2: overtaking aw is the number two promotion in the world
- 9:52Speaker 2: that Eric Bischoff on his podcast is now saying that
- 9:55Speaker 2: TNA is and I quote one step closer to the gray.
- 10:01Speaker 2: It was like, wow, boy, he went from zero to
- 10:04Speaker 2: one hundred and back down to zero real quick, didn't he.
- 10:08Speaker 2: That's quite the flip flop. I haven't seen a flip
- 10:10Speaker 2: flop like that since the last time I went shopping
- 10:13Speaker 2: for summer close at Old Navy. Anyway. Dreamer has since
- 10:16Speaker 2: appeared on Busted Open Radio to open up a bit
- 10:19Speaker 2: more about his departure. It has led to an unofficial
- 10:22Speaker 2: response from people within TNA pushing back on some of
- 10:25Speaker 2: the things that Dreamer had to say. Hat tip to
- 10:28Speaker 2: se scoops dot Com for the transcription. Dreamer said, it's
- 10:32Speaker 2: not my job anymore. I tried building a culture and
- 10:35Speaker 2: I can't worry about that anymore because it's all going
- 10:38Speaker 2: to change, and I hope everyone realizes how much it's
- 10:41Speaker 2: going to change. He said that if he was still around,
- 10:44Speaker 2: m By Elegance would be a quote top girl in
- 10:47Speaker 2: the promotion by next year, but he also noted that
- 10:50Speaker 2: he didn't have the final say on creative decisions and
- 10:53Speaker 2: that he did not have full control. Now on Wednesday,
- 10:56Speaker 2: False Finish reported that sources inside d indicate that Tommy
- 11:01Speaker 2: Dreamer's statements are not accurate. Dreamer did not want to
- 11:05Speaker 2: build contenders and in fact had control of who got pushed.
- 11:09Speaker 2: The belief is that the culture will change for the better.
- 11:12Speaker 2: The feeling is that the booking and creative was not
- 11:15Speaker 2: good and change was needed, especially with the bigger platform
- 11:19Speaker 2: from AMC this year.
- 11:21Speaker 1: Now.
- 11:21Speaker 2: Dreamer also addressed the creative around the decision on when
- 11:24Speaker 2: and where to put the TNA World Championship on Mike
- 11:27Speaker 2: Santana last year, he said, Mike Santana's story. I'm so
- 11:31Speaker 2: close with Mike and his daughter and his family, and
- 11:33Speaker 2: when I talk about the internet, everyone wanted Mike to
- 11:36Speaker 2: win its Slammiversary and it's cool. Then, who do you face?
- 11:40Speaker 2: A bound for glory? And when bound for glory beat
- 11:43Speaker 2: Slamiversary in attendance, you know that you made the right decision.
- 11:47Speaker 2: It's so easy to make everybody happy, but you also
- 11:50Speaker 2: have to make people mad to get you to where
- 11:53Speaker 2: you want to go. And then when you draw more people,
- 11:55Speaker 2: it's like you did your job right and no one's
- 11:58Speaker 2: going to give you that credit for it. It's a
- 12:00Speaker 2: thankless job, but I'm thanked by the people and their
- 12:02Speaker 2: text messages. If you remember, the main event is Slammiversary
- 12:06Speaker 2: last year was a three way match for the TNA
- 12:09Speaker 2: World Championship. Trick Williams was the champion. He was defending
- 12:12Speaker 2: against Mike Santana and Joe Hendry. And that was the
- 12:15Speaker 2: show that took place in Santana's home state of New York.
- 12:18Speaker 2: They were over at the UBS Arena, so he had
- 12:20Speaker 2: friends and family there. I know Conan was there. Homicide
- 12:23Speaker 2: amazing red his daughter obviously, and then they had Trick retain.
- 12:30Speaker 2: Now again false finish, says a source inside TNA is
- 12:34Speaker 2: strongly refuting that, Tommy claiming that his booking of last
- 12:38Speaker 2: year's Slammiversary pay per view was the reason for the
- 12:40Speaker 2: record attendance at Bound for Glory last year, but rather
- 12:44Speaker 2: it was the nostalgia of the retirement match between the
- 12:47Speaker 2: Hardy's and Team three D. That match moved thirty five
- 12:51Speaker 2: hundred tickets before anything else was even announced for the
- 12:55Speaker 2: pay per view that I believe one hundred percent. First
- 13:00Speaker 2: of all, the strongest drug is nostalgia, right, that goes
- 13:04Speaker 2: for a lot in wrestling, But that was the biggest
- 13:07Speaker 2: thing being promoted for that show was that final ever
- 13:10Speaker 2: match between the Hardy's and the Dudleys. That was the
- 13:13Speaker 2: big attraction, that was the real draw for that show. Now,
- 13:17Speaker 2: it's interesting, you know, this week, of all weeks, to
- 13:20Speaker 2: hear Dreamers saying that, given the Paul Haman interview that
- 13:24Speaker 2: dropped with Chris Van Vliet, which I'll dive into a
- 13:27Speaker 2: little bit more on the Uncrowned Wrestling Show this Tuesday.
- 13:31Speaker 2: But in that interview, Hayman talks about booking for the
- 13:34Speaker 2: long term, not the short term, and how he always
- 13:37Speaker 2: has an eye for Okay, you know what are we
- 13:39Speaker 2: doing six months from now, twelve months from now, eighteen
- 13:42Speaker 2: months from now, and absolutely like you should always have
- 13:46Speaker 2: an eye towards where you want to go. You should
- 13:49Speaker 2: always have a destination or even start at the end.
- 13:52Speaker 2: You can have an endpoint and then work backwards and
- 13:55Speaker 2: figure out how you're going to get there. It's like
- 13:57Speaker 2: Kane Parsons, he just direct to the back Rooms movie
- 14:01Speaker 2: that just came out, and there's going to be more
- 14:03Speaker 2: of him. He knows how it ends. He's talked about this.
- 14:07Speaker 2: He already has the ending in mind for the back rooms,
- 14:10Speaker 2: and now it's just a matter of figuring out how
- 14:12Speaker 2: do we get there. Wrestling booking can work the same way,
- 14:16Speaker 2: and there's nothing wrong with that, except not everything needs
- 14:19Speaker 2: to be dragged out to a longer end point. Sometimes,
- 14:23Speaker 2: when momentum is on your side or on someone's side,
- 14:27Speaker 2: you strike while the iron is hot, and you pull
- 14:29Speaker 2: the trigger in the right place at the right time,
- 14:32Speaker 2: in front of the right people, in front of the
- 14:34Speaker 2: right audience. And that time was Slammiversary last year. That
- 14:37Speaker 2: place was New York, in front of his fans, his friends,
- 14:41Speaker 2: his family, not in Lowell, Massachusetts, where it was never
- 14:46Speaker 2: going to get the same reaction. But what made that
- 14:49Speaker 2: even more puzzling was that he chose to wait to
- 14:51Speaker 2: do it and bound for glory, only for the company
- 14:55Speaker 2: to take the next four weeks off with TV tapings.
- 15:00Speaker 2: They took a month off, and then their first taping
- 15:03Speaker 2: back they took the title off of Santana. Real genius
- 15:07Speaker 2: stuff there. You know, Sometimes you drag things out a
- 15:10Speaker 2: little too long, and that could be a killer like
- 15:13Speaker 2: Ring of Vander did a lot of that back in
- 15:15Speaker 2: the day. They waited too long to put the championship
- 15:17Speaker 2: on Dalton Castle, Tyler Black right Seth Rollins is probably
- 15:21Speaker 2: the worst example of that in Roh. Sometimes when it's
- 15:25Speaker 2: the right time, it's the right time and you make
- 15:28Speaker 2: your move. You know, these people get a little too
- 15:30Speaker 2: cute for their own goods sometimes and they miss their moment. Meanwhile,
- 15:35Speaker 2: Road Dog Brian James looks like he's starting with TNA
- 15:40Speaker 2: tonight on their creative team with the Slammiversary pay per view.
- 15:44Speaker 2: He's expected, if he's not already, to be in Boston
- 15:47Speaker 2: for the show, although nothing has been announced officially. I
- 15:50Speaker 2: don't know that they are going to put any sort
- 15:51Speaker 2: official announcement outs. Maybe at some point they will. Dave
- 15:55Speaker 2: Meltzer said a few days ago that Delirious is expected
- 15:58Speaker 2: to be serving as the head booker, with Eric Tompkins,
- 16:02Speaker 2: the vice president of TV Production, working alongside Road Dog
- 16:07Speaker 2: to help Delirious put the final product together. So, if
- 16:11Speaker 2: that's accurate, it sounds like that's going to be the
- 16:13Speaker 2: hierarchy of things there. It'll be very interesting though over time,
- 16:15Speaker 2: assuming that this all comes to fruition, he does join
- 16:18Speaker 2: the creative team, like six months from now, what does
- 16:22Speaker 2: the TNA product look like? Are there stories about you know,
- 16:26Speaker 2: sort of other shakeups within Creative. Does road Dog eventually
- 16:30Speaker 2: make his way up to that top position right wrestling politics,
- 16:33Speaker 2: This would be very interesting to follow this story, but
- 16:36Speaker 2: just also to see how, if at all the TNA
- 16:38Speaker 2: product on air that you and I see, or you know,
- 16:40Speaker 2: the TNA fans who watch week to week what they see,
- 16:43Speaker 2: if it looks and feels any different than it does
- 16:45Speaker 2: now you would think it would. Although if Delirious is
- 16:48Speaker 2: going to be the top guy, he's been there that
- 16:50Speaker 2: you know. The Dreamer was there for years, so it
- 16:52Speaker 2: was Delirious. It's not like they completely wiped out the
- 16:56Speaker 2: entire Creative team. So I'm very curious what this is
- 16:59Speaker 2: going to look like. How they worked together, but it
- 17:02Speaker 2: was clear they had to make some sort of change.
- 17:05Speaker 2: A Slammiversary is only a few hours away as I
- 17:08Speaker 2: am recording this again. They are in Boston starting at
- 17:11Speaker 2: four pm Eastern for the main card, over twenty eight
- 17:14Speaker 2: hundred tickets out in a building that fits six thousand
- 17:18Speaker 2: and The last time they ran this particular building was
- 17:21Speaker 2: also for Slamiversary back in twenty thirteen, and they had
- 17:25Speaker 2: thirty eight hundred fans, so they're down from where they were.
- 17:29Speaker 2: What is that thirteen years ago. Not good? Not Good.
- 17:35Speaker 2: Added to the countdown to Slamiversary at three pm, Marisha Day,
- 17:40Speaker 2: Indy Hartwell and Elena Black in a knockouts three way.
- 17:45Speaker 2: The TNAX Division Championship will be on the line in
- 17:48Speaker 2: an ultimate X match Cedric Alexandra Defense against Leon Slater,
- 17:52Speaker 2: Frankie Kazarian, Mister Elegance, Fabian Eichner, Casey Navarro and the
- 17:58Speaker 2: returning Amazing Red Back. I presume for one night only,
- 18:04Speaker 2: this is Red's first match in TNA in fifteen years.
- 18:08Speaker 2: This is something that I certainly am going to be
- 18:10Speaker 2: tuned into if nothing else. I mean, there's a few
- 18:12Speaker 2: things on this show I'd like to check out, but
- 18:15Speaker 2: this is the main one, and not just because of
- 18:18Speaker 2: Amazing Red. But look at the talent in that match. Red,
- 18:22Speaker 2: Cedric Slater, Eichner, Nevarre. I mean, this is just everybody
- 18:28Speaker 2: in this match. I could see them, you know, having
- 18:31Speaker 2: kind of a shining moment here. I don't know about
- 18:32Speaker 2: mister Elegance, but yeah, again, I said this on Tuesday.
- 18:37Speaker 2: If you are looking for any Amazing Red matches, to
- 18:41Speaker 2: go back and watch some of the better matches that
- 18:44Speaker 2: he's had, some of the more memorable matches and some
- 18:46Speaker 2: of the more recent matches, and I threw a bunch
- 18:48Speaker 2: of them out there, but I didn't do it on
- 18:50Speaker 2: this show, so I'll do it here. The ultimate X
- 18:52Speaker 2: match from Bound for Glory in two thousand and nine,
- 18:54Speaker 2: which I believe Red went into as the X Division champion.
- 18:57Speaker 2: That's one worth going out of your way to see.
- 19:00Speaker 2: Red had a match with aj Styles in House of
- 19:03Speaker 2: Glory back in twenty fourteen at an event called Revenge
- 19:07Speaker 2: is phenomenal, as was that match. The match he had
- 19:11Speaker 2: with Mike Santana at HOG Puerto Rican Weekend two years ago.
- 19:15Speaker 2: Unbelievable stuff. Just the vibe in the atmosphere alone, the
- 19:19Speaker 2: energy in the building alone was just off the charts.
- 19:23Speaker 2: Red had this great match with Bandido a couple of
- 19:26Speaker 2: months ago in Las Vegas for Hog, and then last
- 19:29Speaker 2: month we had two different shows, one in LA and
- 19:31Speaker 2: one in New York. The first one he wrestled Speedball
- 19:35Speaker 2: Mike Bailey and the most recent one he wrestled Kevin Knight,
- 19:38Speaker 2: the reigning AWTNT champion, and both of those matches were
- 19:41Speaker 2: bangers as well. So if you're looking for just to
- 19:43Speaker 2: kind of what your appetite. You haven't seen the Amazing
- 19:46Speaker 2: Red in a long time, or maybe ever, maybe you're
- 19:49Speaker 2: just not familiar with his work. Those are some matches
- 19:52Speaker 2: that you should go back and check out. But I
- 19:54Speaker 2: am looking forward to this ultimate X match here now
- 19:57Speaker 2: the Knockouts Tag Team Championships on the line. The Elegance
- 20:00Speaker 2: Brand defend against Ali and Rosemary. AJ Francis goes one
- 20:05Speaker 2: on one with Elijah Mustafa. Ali will defend the TNA
- 20:09Speaker 2: International Championship against the mystery opponent. It will be an
- 20:13Speaker 2: open challenge. A pw insider earlier in the week said
- 20:17Speaker 2: that TNA is going to be debuting a former WWE
- 20:20Speaker 2: star tonight, and the word making the rounds is that
- 20:23Speaker 2: the talent is a former multi time singles champion, but
- 20:27Speaker 2: we have not heard more beyond that.
- 20:29Speaker 1: Now.
- 20:30Speaker 2: It seems like they went out of their way to
- 20:31Speaker 2: say multi time singles champion. They didn't say a multiple
- 20:35Speaker 2: time world champion. And so my first thought when I
- 20:38Speaker 2: read that was, Okay, let's look at some of the
- 20:41Speaker 2: recent WWE cuts. Who's going to be available, Like who's
- 20:45Speaker 2: ninety days is up around now? Like some of them
- 20:48Speaker 2: are not up until next month. Is there anybody who's
- 20:50Speaker 2: going to be available in time for this show. The
- 20:54Speaker 2: first name I thought of was Apollo Cruise. I don't
- 20:56Speaker 2: know when his ninety days are up, offhand, I don't
- 20:59Speaker 2: remember when he got his release. If it was March,
- 21:03Speaker 2: if it was April. It's possible he may not be
- 21:06Speaker 2: a free man just yet. If he is, he would
- 21:10Speaker 2: be my guess as to who this person could be.
- 21:13Speaker 2: He's a former multi time singles champion in WWE. He's
- 21:16Speaker 2: held the Intercontinental title, He's held the United States Championship.
- 21:20Speaker 2: He's a tremendous talent. I don't know if this means
- 21:23Speaker 2: he would be going back to the old Uhah Nation name.
- 21:27Speaker 2: He would be my guess. And what a match that
- 21:29Speaker 2: would be, By the way, if you did Ali against
- 21:31Speaker 2: you know, Uhah Nation, I think that'd be great stuff.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Ricky Sosa one on one with Eric Young Moose against
- 21:41Speaker 2: Eddie Edwards, three way ladder match for the TNA tag
- 21:44Speaker 2: team titles. The System, Brian Myers and Bear Bronson defend
- 21:47Speaker 2: against the Broken Hardy's and the Righteous TNA Knockouts Championship
- 21:52Speaker 2: on the line. Le Ying Lee defends against Ziah Brookside
- 21:55Speaker 2: and in the main event, Mike Santana defends the TNA
- 21:59Speaker 2: World champion Ship against Nick Nemeth. And with all the
- 22:03Speaker 2: rumors going around about Santana and his contractual status, his
- 22:06Speaker 2: contract is up next month, supposedly, you would have to
- 22:10Speaker 2: imagine that he's as good as gone and he's going
- 22:13Speaker 2: to be on his way to WWE. And so if
- 22:15Speaker 2: that's the case, if that is true, then this would
- 22:19Speaker 2: be a good time to put the belt back on
- 22:22Speaker 2: Nick Nemeth. I don't know what their taping schedule is,
- 22:25Speaker 2: so maybe they have in their mind the thought that, well,
- 22:29Speaker 2: people think there's going to be a title chain, so
- 22:32Speaker 2: we'll shock them and keep the belt on Santana and
- 22:34Speaker 2: then he just drops it at the next set of tapings,
- 22:36Speaker 2: like I could see them doing that too. I'll go
- 22:39Speaker 2: ahead and predict the Nick Nemeth title win tonight. Just
- 22:42Speaker 2: put the championship on Nemath. If Santana is leaving, you
- 22:45Speaker 2: may as well. But if Santana leaves, I can't imagine
- 22:48Speaker 2: he goes anywhere else but WWE, and clearly they have
- 22:51Speaker 2: an interest in using him, So my guess would be
- 22:53Speaker 2: he'll be in NXT or I guess. Look, they could
- 22:57Speaker 2: always bypass NXT and put him on the main ross.
- 23:00Speaker 2: But judging by what they have done in recent history,
- 23:03Speaker 2: they did it with Jordan Grace, they did it with
- 23:04Speaker 2: Joe Hendry, my guess is he would at least start
- 23:07Speaker 2: in n XTA. Then at seven Eastern NXT speaking of
- 23:14Speaker 2: which has the Great American Bash from the Performance Center,
- 23:19Speaker 2: and they are opening the show with the NXT Championship
- 23:22Speaker 2: on the line with Tony DiAngelo defending against Naraku, the
- 23:27Speaker 2: former Evil. They're going to belt up Evil already, aren't
- 23:31Speaker 2: they first pl e on the CW Network title match
- 23:36Speaker 2: to open the show. They burn Tony's face in their storyline,
- 23:41Speaker 2: probably to give him an out when he loses. And
- 23:44Speaker 2: they're teasing the idea that Naraku may not be coming alone.
- 23:48Speaker 2: He may have some help coming. And I saw that.
- 23:51Speaker 2: I saw that sit down segment last week that they
- 23:54Speaker 2: you know, the cinematic sit down they did with the
- 23:57Speaker 2: two of them where Tony signed the contract. Don't Tony's
- 24:00Speaker 2: a good promo, especially now that he ditched the mob
- 24:02Speaker 2: Boss gimmick. But Naraku, he speaks at these sound bites
- 24:06Speaker 2: like something out of a two K video game. But
- 24:09Speaker 2: at the very end he said Evil is coming. And
- 24:14Speaker 2: then he laughed like shredder, vowing to kill the territoes.
- 24:19Speaker 2: Not only do I think we're getting a title change here,
- 24:21Speaker 2: I will say I will predict that we get the
- 24:25Speaker 2: debut of Hiromu Takahashi to help Naraku win the belt.
- 24:29Speaker 2: In fact, wwe just trademarked, literally on Friday, they just
- 24:33Speaker 2: trademarked the name bakusa. I'm sure I'm butchering this word.
- 24:38Speaker 2: Bak usai, bakusai, bakusai. Maybe it's bakusai, which apparently means
- 24:47Speaker 2: blasting in Japanese, like I baku saied my girlfriend anyway, blasting.
- 24:52Speaker 2: I don't know why I said that, blasting life. I
- 24:56Speaker 2: don't know what's wrong with me? What is wrong with me?
- 24:59Speaker 2: I don't know, but blasting, blasting like a bomb. They
- 25:03Speaker 2: they're gonna cancel me now, like they tried to cancel
- 25:05Speaker 2: will Osprey this week. But yes, bakusai apparently means blasting
- 25:09Speaker 2: like a bomb, maybe even a ticking time bomb, which
- 25:14Speaker 2: just so happens to be one of Heromu's nicknames. In fact,
- 25:16Speaker 2: time bomb is the name of his finish. It's not
- 25:19Speaker 2: hard to put two and two together here. I do
- 25:21Speaker 2: wonder what shitty name they'll give Daryl the Cat though,
- 25:25Speaker 2: I'm a little worried about that. They're opening the show
- 25:29Speaker 2: with that, and then they're closing the show with the
- 25:31Speaker 2: women's championship match with Lola Weis defending her NXT Women's
- 25:35Speaker 2: title against Kendall Gray, who I can't believe hasn't already
- 25:39Speaker 2: won the title. I mean, she's got to win it here,
- 25:41Speaker 2: especially if they're main eventing with it, and the North
- 25:45Speaker 2: American Championship is on the line. With the women, Tsaria
- 25:47Speaker 2: defends against Tatum Pasley, the men's North American Championship on
- 25:52Speaker 2: the line, Miles Born against Tavion Heights, Saquon Sugars takes
- 25:56Speaker 2: on Dion Lennox, the women's speed champion, Ren Sinclair against
- 26:02Speaker 2: Ariana Grace, and then Shiloh Hill against Tristan Angels And
- 26:05Speaker 2: On last night's Triple A show, Raymisterio the New GM
- 26:09Speaker 2: announced that El Ejdel Vikingo will be defending his newly
- 26:12Speaker 2: won Triple A Latin American Championship on an upcoming episode
- 26:16Speaker 2: of NXT, but they did not give a date for
- 26:18Speaker 2: when that would be, so I guess that means omas
- 26:23Speaker 2: He's coming to NXT almost Sapien's rise. He is on
- 26:26Speaker 2: his way to the PC, which is where he should
- 26:29Speaker 2: have been from day one. On Thursday, Tony Kahan hosted
- 26:33Speaker 2: a Forbidden Door media call, as he does before all
- 26:36Speaker 2: of the AW and ROH pay per views, and on
- 26:39Speaker 2: that call, he talked about the visa issues that have
- 26:42Speaker 2: plagued this event. He said it's been a massive challenge
- 26:46Speaker 2: for Forbidden Door, and he revealed that in addition to
- 26:49Speaker 2: the Beast, Mortos and Commander, AW is dealing with visa
- 26:54Speaker 2: issues for Mark Davis, Gabe Kidd, and Hetcha Sero. Now
- 26:58Speaker 2: Hetchiesero has not wrestled for AW since the April twenty
- 27:01Speaker 2: second Collision taping. He did say the situation with Davis
- 27:05Speaker 2: should be cleared up soon. I know he just had
- 27:08Speaker 2: a national title defense in RevPro last Sunday. I really
- 27:11Speaker 2: hope he's not going to be gone for long. He's
- 27:13Speaker 2: been on the best run of his career so far,
- 27:17Speaker 2: at least in AW. It would suck if he was
- 27:19Speaker 2: sidelined over some stupid issue like this. From months on
- 27:22Speaker 2: Andrew they had to strip him of the belt and
- 27:24Speaker 2: the last time gave Kid wrestle for AW was a
- 27:27Speaker 2: Dynasty on April twelfth, which was in Vancouver, so his
- 27:30Speaker 2: visa status would would have had no impact on them
- 27:33Speaker 2: using him there because it's outside the US. Before that,
- 27:36Speaker 2: you'd have to go back to the Coffin match that
- 27:38Speaker 2: he lost to Darby Allen on Dynamite, and that was
- 27:41Speaker 2: back on March eighteenth. Now, during that same call, Tony
- 27:45Speaker 2: Khan was asked by Brandon Thurston of Wrestling Nomics about
- 27:49Speaker 2: his interest potential interest in buying TNA Wrestling if the
- 27:52Speaker 2: promotion was up for sale, and Tony's response was to
- 27:57Speaker 2: ask a question. He said, at what price? And Thurston
- 28:02Speaker 2: threw out forty million dollars as a figure, which was
- 28:05Speaker 2: the rumored floor that the head of Anthem had supposedly
- 28:08Speaker 2: set for a potential sale of somewhere in the forty
- 28:11Speaker 2: to fifty million dollar range, although that was again keep
- 28:14Speaker 2: in mind that was put out there by Blake Avignon
- 28:16Speaker 2: on X with no other source to actually back up
- 28:19Speaker 2: his reporting. Tony's response to this was very simple. He says, no,
- 28:25Speaker 2: absolutely not, and then he laughed a little bit. He
- 28:29Speaker 2: said that there's value in the library, but any acquisition
- 28:32Speaker 2: would have to be at the right price. He said,
- 28:34Speaker 2: it's not a top priority as an acquisition right now,
- 28:37Speaker 2: and also nothing that he has had serious conversations about,
- 28:40Speaker 2: and of course not because why the fuck does he
- 28:42Speaker 2: have to buy TNA. He's certainly not going to spend
- 28:45Speaker 2: forty million dollars on it. I told you last week,
- 28:49Speaker 2: I said the reported figure that he spent I don't
- 28:51Speaker 2: think it was ever confirmed, but the reported figure that
- 28:54Speaker 2: he spent for Ring of Honor was in the four
- 28:56Speaker 2: million dollar range. Now, I understand, Ring of Honor was
- 28:58Speaker 2: basically a dead promote. It had no TV, it barely
- 29:02Speaker 2: had a pulse. TNA at least has a pulse. They
- 29:05Speaker 2: ain't worth forty million dollars, so I would laugh it
- 29:09Speaker 2: off too if I were him now. Thurston also asked
- 29:11Speaker 2: about their my AW service potentially playing host for various
- 29:16Speaker 2: independent wrestling events during the week leading up to AW
- 29:20Speaker 2: Revolution next year, which is typically held in March, and
- 29:24Speaker 2: Tony said that absolutely that was a goal. It was
- 29:26Speaker 2: something that they have had discussions about, and this would
- 29:29Speaker 2: line up perfectly with them hosting an event in March
- 29:32Speaker 2: or April with WrestleMania being held in Saudi Arabia next year.
- 29:36Speaker 2: I've said this before. AW could do something very special here.
- 29:40Speaker 2: They could do something domestic, whether it's a new event
- 29:44Speaker 2: or even just using revolution, and they could build an
- 29:46Speaker 2: entire week or an entire weekend, even if it was
- 29:50Speaker 2: just a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday thing around the idea
- 29:54Speaker 2: of indies descending upon that host city, right like they
- 29:58Speaker 2: usually do for a WrestleMania all the Endi. These descend
- 30:00Speaker 2: upon Las Vegas or whatever the city might be, and
- 30:03Speaker 2: wrestle Khan and all of these events. But you call
- 30:07Speaker 2: it a celebration of wrestling. You make it your own, right.
- 30:11Speaker 2: It just makes all too much sense to me. And
- 30:14Speaker 2: now that they have this MAYAW service up and running,
- 30:17Speaker 2: they could air the events on their live They could
- 30:19Speaker 2: have a full schedule of events for days on end,
- 30:22Speaker 2: all leading into whatever the AW pay per view is.
- 30:25Speaker 2: Do it do it Forbidden Doors tonight and they are
- 30:31Speaker 2: in San Jose. They have a pre show as they
- 30:34Speaker 2: usually do, which I want to say starts at seven,
- 30:37Speaker 2: so I don't know, maybe six point thirty. I want
- 30:39Speaker 2: to say seven Eastern is when it starts. The buy in.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Let me run through the card of my predictions here
- 30:44Speaker 2: real quick. This is the card as things currently stand.
- 30:46Speaker 2: They did add one match to the buy in, which
- 30:48Speaker 2: is a match between sky Blue and Mica from Stardom.
- 30:53Speaker 2: It is a survival of the fittest qualifier. So for
- 30:56Speaker 2: those who don't know, when Willow Nightingale vacated the TBS Championship,
- 31:01Speaker 2: Tony KHK came up with the idea to have a
- 31:04Speaker 2: survival of the fittest match in AAW for the first
- 31:07Speaker 2: time ever. This is a Ring of Honor concept that
- 31:10Speaker 2: predates when Tony bought the con. I mean, the first
- 31:13Speaker 2: survival of the fittest match and Ring of Honor, my god,
- 31:15Speaker 2: probably goes back to two thousand and four or five,
- 31:19Speaker 2: somewhere in that range, and you know, he's brought it back.
- 31:22Speaker 2: There was one not that long ago, maybe a month ago,
- 31:24Speaker 2: with Athena, and she beat five other women to hold
- 31:27Speaker 2: on to this championship that she's never gonna lose. So
- 31:30Speaker 2: now they're doing one for the first time here in AW.
- 31:33Speaker 2: It's going to be six women. It's basically just elimination style.
- 31:36Speaker 2: One woman gets eliminated, the match continues until this one
- 31:39Speaker 2: person left standing. So they've been having qualifying matches now
- 31:42Speaker 2: for a few weeks and the six way is taking place.
- 31:46Speaker 2: This Wednesday on Dynamite July first, So we're going to
- 31:49Speaker 2: have a new TBS champion crowned. It was I think
- 31:52Speaker 2: this is for the final spot, and so Skyblue and
- 31:55Speaker 2: Micah is going to be the match.
- 31:58Speaker 1: Now.
- 31:58Speaker 2: This would be the easiest win for Tony to give
- 32:00Speaker 2: to Stardom tonight, and Micah has held their Red Belt before.
- 32:05Speaker 2: The most prestigious of all the Stardom belts is the
- 32:09Speaker 2: Red Belt. But sky Blue already took a loss to
- 32:12Speaker 2: Maya World in the Owen, so realistically she probably should
- 32:17Speaker 2: win this. But I mean it's it's sky Blue. You know,
- 32:20Speaker 2: She's part of the Triangle of Madness. She's not pushed
- 32:22Speaker 2: in any kind of serious way like a top star
- 32:24Speaker 2: in the division. I don't think anybody's gonna bat an
- 32:27Speaker 2: eyelash if she takes another loss here. I think they
- 32:30Speaker 2: do give it to Micah, and she would give that
- 32:33Speaker 2: six way on Wednesday a little more international flavor. So
- 32:37Speaker 2: I'm going with Micah to qualify, and then as far
- 32:39Speaker 2: as Wednesday, I do, I do I write down all
- 32:42Speaker 2: the names I don't have him in from I don't know,
- 32:44Speaker 2: I do, Chris Statlander, Hikarashida, Persephone, Harley Cameron, Queen Ami Nada,
- 32:50Speaker 2: and the winner of this match here, let's say Micah.
- 32:53Speaker 2: Those are the competitors in the Survival of the Fittest
- 32:55Speaker 2: match on Wednesday. I'm gonna go out on the limb
- 32:58Speaker 2: here as far as picking a winner and as champion,
- 33:01Speaker 2: I'm gonna go with Queen Ami Nada. I think Ami
- 33:04Speaker 2: Nada gets the belt. I feel like that title was
- 33:07Speaker 2: made for someone like her who was getting a bit
- 33:10Speaker 2: of a push last year before she got injured. This
- 33:13Speaker 2: could be a good way to get her going again.
- 33:15Speaker 2: You know, I'm looking for someone who hasn't already been there.
- 33:17Speaker 2: I'm looking for someone who has not already held the
- 33:19Speaker 2: TBS title. Chris stat Lander has already held it before.
- 33:23Speaker 2: So I'm going with Ami Nada. Also on the Brian
- 33:26Speaker 2: pre show, the Women's Tag Team Championships on the line,
- 33:29Speaker 2: Divine Dominion Megan Bain Alena Cross defend against thunder Rosa
- 33:33Speaker 2: and Olympia representing CMLL. That should be a win for
- 33:37Speaker 2: the Divine Dominion. Then on the main card we have
- 33:39Speaker 2: the Young Bucks. We have Mystico and Mascarriderata, El Sky
- 33:44Speaker 2: Team and Unbound Shingo Takagi and Titan. I'm picking the
- 33:49Speaker 2: Bucks to win this. We have the newly crowned IWGP
- 33:53Speaker 2: Global Heavyweight Champion, showed to umiin No defending his belt
- 33:57Speaker 2: against Pak and this should be a win for Umi,
- 34:00Speaker 2: you know, I mean, he just won the damn thing.
- 34:02Speaker 2: Kenny Omega won on one with Zach Saber Junior. To me,
- 34:05Speaker 2: anything but an Omega win here would be ridiculous. Kenny
- 34:09Speaker 2: Omega wins, Kenny Omega goes on to challenge for the
- 34:12Speaker 2: World Championship next month. Especially if that happens, he should
- 34:16Speaker 2: not be losing here. We have Adam Copeland and Christian
- 34:19Speaker 2: Cage defending their aw tag team titles against the dogs
- 34:22Speaker 2: David Finley and Clark Conners. This will be a win
- 34:24Speaker 2: for Cope and Christian. They ain't dropping those belts before
- 34:27Speaker 2: they get to Wembley Stadium, and even then they may
- 34:30Speaker 2: not drop them, but they're certainly not dropping him before then.
- 34:34Speaker 2: Continental Championship on the line. John Moxley defends against Bendido.
- 34:38Speaker 2: A very random match that was thrown out there the
- 34:41Speaker 2: other week, but it should be a really good match.
- 34:43Speaker 2: I don't see Bendido winning. I think John Moxley is
- 34:47Speaker 2: going to retain that championship, but it should be a
- 34:49Speaker 2: good match. And then we have Tekla defending the aw
- 34:53Speaker 2: Women's World Championship against Starlight Kid representing stardom. I kind
- 34:58Speaker 2: of went out on a limb with the pick for
- 35:00Speaker 2: the Survival of the Fittest TBS title match on Wednesday.
- 35:03Speaker 2: I think I'm going out on the edge of the
- 35:05Speaker 2: cliff here with this match. I'm picking Starlight Kid to
- 35:10Speaker 2: win the Women's World Championship here. Yeah, Tekla has done
- 35:14Speaker 2: a very good job in this angle of just shitting
- 35:17Speaker 2: on stardom at every opportunity. In fact, Tekla seems like
- 35:21Speaker 2: the kind of woman where if you gave her the
- 35:22Speaker 2: chance to, she might literally take a shit on like
- 35:25Speaker 2: the Stardom logo. Like she's already spat on the logo.
- 35:29Speaker 2: She's attacked the president, she tried to shave his head.
- 35:33Speaker 2: I mean, this woman is no telling what she could do.
- 35:35Speaker 2: And it all goes back to when she lost her
- 35:38Speaker 2: job in Japan. She was fired from Japan, right, the
- 35:41Speaker 2: woman who was banned from Japan, so she came to
- 35:43Speaker 2: the US. She's got a lot of history going back
- 35:45Speaker 2: with stardom. She's done a very good job of playing
- 35:47Speaker 2: into that this is one of the few matches on
- 35:50Speaker 2: the show where it really feels like there is a
- 35:52Speaker 2: personal issue here for one of these forbidden door type matches,
- 35:57Speaker 2: and I just think because of that, Stardom needs to
- 36:02Speaker 2: pick up a win here, because Tekla has just crapped
- 36:05Speaker 2: all over them every single chance she gets. For her
- 36:07Speaker 2: to go in there and beat one of their top
- 36:09Speaker 2: stars would be a bad look for Stardom. And I
- 36:11Speaker 2: think if you're also looking to pick a match on
- 36:14Speaker 2: this show where there are real stakes on the line,
- 36:16Speaker 2: there's a championship up for grabs, a safe choice to
- 36:20Speaker 2: put the belt on someone who's not affiliated with AW,
- 36:25Speaker 2: you would do it in this match right now. The
- 36:28Speaker 2: IWGP belt is not on the line here. The AW
- 36:30Speaker 2: World title is not on the line here on this show.
- 36:32Speaker 2: If they were, I would not expect to see one
- 36:35Speaker 2: of those belts going to someone from the other company.
- 36:38Speaker 2: But here, I think you could get away with doing it.
- 36:40Speaker 2: And here's why, because I wouldn't see Starlight Kid, for example,
- 36:44Speaker 2: going into Wembley Stadium in August is the champion. I
- 36:47Speaker 2: think she would have that belt for about a month
- 36:50Speaker 2: and she would drop it at the Redemption pay per
- 36:54Speaker 2: view in Montreal to who right to who? Well that
- 36:58Speaker 2: leads us into the owen Hart Women's Finale, the finals
- 37:02Speaker 2: of the tournament, Mercedes Monette one on one with Maya World,
- 37:07Speaker 2: two women who were not even in the tournament when
- 37:10Speaker 2: it started, and they are in the finals, and I
- 37:14Speaker 2: am upset that we did not get the Mercedes Athena
- 37:17Speaker 2: final that I was hoping for. But Tony Kahn has
- 37:21Speaker 2: elected to go with the feel good story, which is
- 37:23Speaker 2: Maya World. And you've heard about you know, she lost
- 37:26Speaker 2: her brother, her younger brother, recently in a terrible accident.
- 37:31Speaker 2: She I mean, her story even going back to last
- 37:33Speaker 2: year is pretty cool because she was hanging around as
- 37:36Speaker 2: an extra doing jobs. And that was the night that
- 37:41Speaker 2: Nixon Neuell and Miranda Alis right Nixon Nouell, the former
- 37:45Speaker 2: Tigan Knox, they walked out during one of the Dynamite tapings.
- 37:49Speaker 2: They had an issue with the creative or the time
- 37:52Speaker 2: that was given for them. They felt like, that don't
- 37:54Speaker 2: work for me, brother, and they left and supposedly they
- 37:57Speaker 2: were seen at a local bar. I think they went
- 37:58Speaker 2: to a bar to get some food and so in
- 38:01Speaker 2: their place Maya World and high On who were there
- 38:04Speaker 2: that night took their spot and they went out there instead,
- 38:07Speaker 2: and a few weeks later, Tony Kahan gifted them I'm
- 38:10Speaker 2: not saying just because of that, but he gifted them
- 38:12Speaker 2: with contracts. They are now both under contract to aaw
- 38:15Speaker 2: that was less than a year ago. And to go
- 38:17Speaker 2: from doing jobs as someone who didn't even have a
- 38:21Speaker 2: contract with this company to now not only having a contract,
- 38:25Speaker 2: but being in the finals of the owen Hart Tournament
- 38:28Speaker 2: on this pay per view, getting a pay per view
- 38:30Speaker 2: match for the opportunity to challenge for the World Championship
- 38:33Speaker 2: at Wembley Stadium in August. That is quite the leap
- 38:37Speaker 2: for Maya World. It was a surprise when she beat
- 38:41Speaker 2: sky Blue. It was a stunner when she beat Athena
- 38:45Speaker 2: on collision a couple of weeks ago. And so now
- 38:47Speaker 2: here we are she is in a match here with
- 38:49Speaker 2: a woman that she is on record as saying is
- 38:52Speaker 2: her all time dream opponent. Right that dream is coming true.
- 38:55Speaker 2: She is getting that match. What a great story. It
- 38:58Speaker 2: would be very easy to say, well, the feel good
- 39:01Speaker 2: story ends tonight, and maybe it will maybe it will
- 39:05Speaker 2: and Athena will win or Athena Mercedes will win and
- 39:09Speaker 2: they'll go the predictable way, and she'll get the World
- 39:11Speaker 2: Championship match at Wembley Stadium. I'm looking at this a
- 39:15Speaker 2: little bit differently, and I'm saying, you know what, I
- 39:17Speaker 2: think Tony's gonna want to keep that story going. I
- 39:20Speaker 2: think Maya World gets the win. I think she wins
- 39:22Speaker 2: the owen she gets the shot at Wembley Stadium against Tecla.
- 39:28Speaker 2: Only Tekla's not going to be the champion, and neither
- 39:30Speaker 2: is Starlight Kid. Starlight Kid is going to win the belt.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Starlight Kid is going to defend that belt against Mercedes
- 39:36Speaker 2: Monett at Redemption, and that is where Mercedes will win
- 39:39Speaker 2: the championship. When Mercedes rolls into Wembley, she will do
- 39:42Speaker 2: so as the champion, and we get a rematch of
- 39:45Speaker 2: this match, only this time it's Maya challenging Mercedes for
- 39:48Speaker 2: the belt and Maya I'm sure Maya will fall in
- 39:51Speaker 2: that match. That is how I see things playing out.
- 39:55Speaker 2: I know all of this sounds very like outside the
- 39:58Speaker 2: Box Pie in the Sky. I don't know about that.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Maybe I'm crazy, but this is just what I'm feeling
- 40:04Speaker 2: and how I think things are going to play out.
- 40:07Speaker 2: If they don't play out that way, you have permission
- 40:10Speaker 2: to make fun of me when it's over. But that's
- 40:11Speaker 2: just just a gut feeling I have. In the Men's
- 40:16Speaker 2: Own Heart Final, we have Will Osprey going one on
- 40:18Speaker 2: one would swerve Strickland. This can go no other way
- 40:22Speaker 2: other than an Osprey win. But the match itself should
- 40:25Speaker 2: be a fucking banger and a half. And then the
- 40:28Speaker 2: Steel Cage twelve men match six on six Team Briscoe,
- 40:32Speaker 2: which is Mark Briscoe, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong, Orange, Cassidy Darby,
- 40:36Speaker 2: Allen and Kenoski Takesha take on MJF, Kevin Knight, Kyle Fletcher,
- 40:40Speaker 2: Jake Doyle and androde l Edelo. A lot of interconnected
- 40:45Speaker 2: stories here in this match, obviously MJF and brisco but
- 40:48Speaker 2: also members of mjf's own team don't like him, no
- 40:52Speaker 2: one more so than Andrade, and I think ANDROTI will
- 40:54Speaker 2: factor into that finish when mjf's team loses and Team
- 40:58Speaker 2: Briscoe wins. And then coming out of this maybe on
- 41:00Speaker 2: that Beach Break episode on July eighth, Briscoe can get
- 41:03Speaker 2: his World Championship match with MJF. They could finally blow
- 41:06Speaker 2: that off. We could be done with it, because all
- 41:10Speaker 2: roads seem to be leading to one match at Redemption,
- 41:13Speaker 2: Kenny Omega challenging MJF for the aw World title, which
- 41:17Speaker 2: would be the second time this year on pay per
- 41:19Speaker 2: view in Canada. No less that Kenny Omega would be
- 41:22Speaker 2: challenging MJF for that championship, and if that happens, it's
- 41:26Speaker 2: gonna go a little bit differently than it did in Dynasty.
- 41:29Speaker 2: But this can be nothing but a Team brisco win,
- 41:32Speaker 2: because otherwise, all these weeks of television teasing a match
- 41:36Speaker 2: between MJF and Mark Briscoe would be for nothing. And
- 41:40Speaker 2: that's your card on paper. There's gonna be some really
- 41:42Speaker 2: great wrestling matches. I will not be staying up live
- 41:45Speaker 2: to review the show. I'll be watching the show, but
- 41:48Speaker 2: I'm gonna save my review for the Uncrowned show on
- 41:50Speaker 2: Tuesday because I ain't staying up to review this show.
- 41:56Speaker 2: I will for Redemption, I will for All in which
- 41:58Speaker 2: at least is going to be airing in the middle
- 41:59Speaker 2: of the day. I can't. I can't do it for this.
- 42:02Speaker 2: I'm sorry, I'm for Forbidden Door. I'm not doing it.
- 42:06Speaker 2: Not happening, but I'll be tweeting away during the show. Also,
- 42:09Speaker 2: one more AW note here before we get into the
- 42:11Speaker 2: WWE stuff. Carlos Silva, he ain't gonna be happy about this. Aw.
- 42:18Speaker 2: Collision is going to be airing on Thursdays a couple
- 42:20Speaker 2: of times next month, and it may be airing on
- 42:22Speaker 2: Thursdays more than just a couple of times next month. Now,
- 42:26Speaker 2: when this has happened in the past, it's usually because
- 42:29Speaker 2: of sports preemptions. It's not anything that Tony Conner AW
- 42:32Speaker 2: has any real control over. It's a Turner thing, it's
- 42:35Speaker 2: a WBD thing on the schedule right now, Collision is
- 42:41Speaker 2: supposed to air on Thursday, July second, so that's next week,
- 42:46Speaker 2: eight pm Eastern. It's being taped in San Diego after
- 42:50Speaker 2: Dynamite on Wednesday, and so it's got a runtime apparently
- 42:54Speaker 2: of two and a half hours, so from eight to
- 42:56Speaker 2: ten thirty. And the reason for that is because we
- 42:59Speaker 2: have the debut of TNT Boxing coming up on Independence
- 43:04Speaker 2: Stay July fourth, which kicks off a series of monthly
- 43:08Speaker 2: events in conjunction with Dezone. So it's entirely possible that
- 43:13Speaker 2: that means Collision is going to be preempted once a month.
- 43:16Speaker 2: We don't know what the full fight schedule is going
- 43:19Speaker 2: to be maybe they put stuff on TBS instead of TNT,
- 43:23Speaker 2: But the second Thursday Collision is set for the end
- 43:27Speaker 2: of the month, July thirtieth, again at eight pm Eastern.
- 43:30Speaker 2: That'll be live from the Motor City of Detroit. The
- 43:33Speaker 2: Motor City you say, yes, I think Dynamite is in Detroit,
- 43:38Speaker 2: isn't it That week? They may have a couple of
- 43:41Speaker 2: shows from Detroit at the end of the month. Interesting
- 43:43Speaker 2: timing with a certain tag team from Detroit who I
- 43:46Speaker 2: believe their ninety days is going to be up before then.
- 43:50Speaker 2: So anyway, yes, Carlos Silva, I mean he's just got
- 43:52Speaker 2: to be throwing furniture around. This is like a declaration
- 43:57Speaker 2: of war. This week's episode is answered by Wis Listen up.
- 44:02Speaker 2: If you run your own business, big or small, doesn't

- 45:18Speaker 2: Just go to wis dot com slash harmony. That's wis
- 45:22Speaker 2: dot com slash harmony. The only two things of note
- 45:26Speaker 2: from the final three hour SmackDown on Friday, which was
- 45:30Speaker 2: taped last Tuesday. We had the end of the seemingly anyway,
- 45:34Speaker 2: the end of the MFTs, and there's a story arc
- 45:39Speaker 2: with Solo Socoha now where he is all alone. All
- 45:42Speaker 2: of his family has deserted him, or he's deserted his family.
- 45:45Speaker 2: He hates the bloodline, so he has no interest in
- 45:47Speaker 2: going back to Roman reigns. But Tomatonga and Talatanga told
- 45:51Speaker 2: him that the Elder's called and they're out, and they left.
- 45:56Speaker 2: I don't know what that means. I don't know they're out.
- 45:58Speaker 2: What does that even mean? Are they out of ww
- 46:00Speaker 2: we We don't know they're out though. So Solo Socoa
- 46:03Speaker 2: now is all by himself and he's He's tried to
- 46:06Speaker 2: get Roy's keys to join them, and he's turned him down.
- 46:08Speaker 2: He tried to get La Knight on Friday to join
- 46:10Speaker 2: him in La Knight told him to piss off. I'm
- 46:13Speaker 2: more interested now in Solo Soca as a character or
- 46:16Speaker 2: where they're going to go with this than I was
- 46:18Speaker 2: at any point during his entire run as the leader
- 46:20Speaker 2: of the MFTs, and I don't know where this is
- 46:23Speaker 2: going to end. He may well end up with the
- 46:25Speaker 2: bloodline of the end of all this anyway, But I
- 46:27Speaker 2: find myself at least intrigued now with where they're going
- 46:30Speaker 2: to take it and what they're going to do with him.
- 46:32Speaker 2: I still believe that there is a good Babyface run,
- 46:34Speaker 2: a fun, entertaining babyface run buried within Solo Socoa, and
- 46:39Speaker 2: I hope at some point they have a chance to
- 46:41Speaker 2: bring that out because he is a very personable guy.
- 46:45Speaker 2: We just don't get a chance to see it because
- 46:46Speaker 2: he's got to be stoic, and you know, he was
- 46:48Speaker 2: leading this faction. He's got to be taking He's like
- 46:50Speaker 2: a mob boss, but nobody takes them seriously as a
- 46:53Speaker 2: mob boss. But I am interested to see where they
- 46:56Speaker 2: go with it. There's another little wrinkle here, how much
- 47:00Speaker 2: might a different member of the family play into this
- 47:03Speaker 2: because fight Ful Select had a report a few days
- 47:06Speaker 2: ago that WWE's current plan, if they haven't already done so,
- 47:11Speaker 2: is to sign Zilla Fatu. He was recently at the
- 47:16Speaker 2: Performance Center and according to them, he was going through
- 47:19Speaker 2: the steps needed to get ready for a signing. And
- 47:24Speaker 2: so it looks like it is finally happening. Zillah, you know,
- 47:27Speaker 2: twenty six years old, he's the son of the late Umaga.
- 47:30Speaker 2: He's got wrestling in his blood. He is also the
- 47:33Speaker 2: reigning House of Glory Crown jewel champion. He's been with
- 47:36Speaker 2: us now for several years and we would hate to
- 47:40Speaker 2: lose him. But if he signs, I'm very happy for
- 47:43Speaker 2: him because I know this was always the goal. The
- 47:45Speaker 2: goal was always to join the family on the biggest
- 47:47Speaker 2: possible stage. He's still new to this, you know, he's
- 47:51Speaker 2: only been doing this for three years, which is not
- 47:54Speaker 2: a long time. And in those three years, I've had
- 47:57Speaker 2: a ringside seat to watch his progression. I've had the
- 48:00Speaker 2: chance to help call his matches. It's been fun to watch.
- 48:04Speaker 2: I could see him debuting, for example, for Solo Sokoa,
- 48:08Speaker 2: who has nobody left, he recruits a new member of
- 48:11Speaker 2: the family to help join his cause. Or if we
- 48:15Speaker 2: were to get let's say Roman reigns against Oba Femei
- 48:19Speaker 2: at SummerSlam. Remember the way Solo debuted it Clash at
- 48:22Speaker 2: the Castle. Maybe we're in for Clash at the Castle
- 48:26Speaker 2: two point zero, but this time with Zilla debuting instead
- 48:29Speaker 2: of Solo. I could see that too. He's very close
- 48:32Speaker 2: with Jacob. I'm sure the two of them would love
- 48:35Speaker 2: to be working together. But that's the update on Zillafa
- 48:37Speaker 2: too and his potential WWE debut. Nothing is official yet,
- 48:41Speaker 2: but it sure sounds like it is headed in that direction.
- 48:45Speaker 2: If Solo is going to be involved with that in
- 48:48Speaker 2: some way, I guess we'll find out, because right now
- 48:50Speaker 2: he's all by himself. The other thing that happened on
- 48:53Speaker 2: Friday was the debut of Blake Monroe. She attacked Julia
- 48:58Speaker 2: after Julia's win over Kia on A James, and so
- 49:01Speaker 2: now we know who her first target is going to be.
- 49:03Speaker 2: I'm glad that she just she finally came and she
- 49:07Speaker 2: is on the show, and I expect big things from
- 49:09Speaker 2: her because she's fantastic. She's the kind of talent where like,
- 49:14Speaker 2: you can't fumble her. You can't fumble Blake Monroe. If
- 49:17Speaker 2: you fumble Blake Monroe, then you just got you gotta
- 49:20Speaker 2: call it quits, you know what I mean. Like, there's
- 49:23Speaker 2: no reason for her not to go on to win
- 49:24Speaker 2: championships and be one of the bigger stars in that division,
- 49:27Speaker 2: and not just because she's the best wrestler on the roster.
- 49:30Speaker 2: She's a fine wrestler. I'm not gonna say she's the
- 49:32Speaker 2: best she's a fine wrestler, but the way she carries herself,
- 49:36Speaker 2: her promos, her personality, she's a star. She looks the part,
- 49:42Speaker 2: then she can back it out. She'll do very well.
- 49:45Speaker 2: Now Raw is airing tomorrow. Just be aware live on
- 49:49Speaker 2: Netflix at six pm Eastern because they're taping SmackDown immediately
- 49:53Speaker 2: after to give the crew off of the Fourth of
- 49:55Speaker 2: July holiday. So I will be live on YouTube tomorrow
- 49:59Speaker 2: a couple of hours earlier than usual. So just FYI.
- 50:04Speaker 2: But now let's talk about Knight of Champions and the
- 50:07Speaker 2: biggest championship on that Night of Champion show was the
- 50:11Speaker 2: WWE Championship, and we have a new WWE Champion. I
- 50:16Speaker 2: actually nailed every one of my predictions from last week,
- 50:19Speaker 2: a clean sweep, six for six. And that's a good
- 50:23Speaker 2: thing because Triple H got it right with the top
- 50:26Speaker 2: matches on the show. He got it right with the
- 50:28Speaker 2: main event, he got it right with the King of
- 50:30Speaker 2: the Ring Final, he got it right with the Queen
- 50:31Speaker 2: of the Ring file. And when I say that, I
- 50:33Speaker 2: don't mean in terms of the matches he put together,
- 50:36Speaker 2: because he got it wrong with the King of the
- 50:38Speaker 2: Ring Final. And you could even argue the Queen of
- 50:41Speaker 2: the Ring Final as well, because liv Morgan had no
- 50:43Speaker 2: right even being in that tournament. There's no reason for
- 50:45Speaker 2: her to be there. I'm talking about how it finished,
- 50:49Speaker 2: I'm talking about the outcome. He got it right. I
- 50:54Speaker 2: wish we would have gotten better wrestling on the show.
- 50:56Speaker 2: I didn't think any of the matches outside of the
- 50:58Speaker 2: main event were all that special. I thought the Queen
- 51:01Speaker 2: of the Ring Final was definitely better than the King
- 51:03Speaker 2: of the Ring Final, even if that one had more heat.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Definitely gave people more anxiety over what the finish would be.
- 51:11Speaker 2: But neither final is going to be remembered as anything special.
- 51:14Speaker 2: They would be considered an average match on Raw or
- 51:17Speaker 2: SmackDown any given week without that main event. I thought
- 51:21Speaker 2: this was a five or six out of ten show
- 51:23Speaker 2: at best off the strength of the WWE title match,
- 51:26Speaker 2: and I would say the last half of the Steel
- 51:29Speaker 2: Cage match, I would go six and a half, maybe
- 51:32Speaker 2: seven if I'm feeling generous. They opened on ESPN with
- 51:37Speaker 2: the King of the Ring Final between Obafemi and jay Usso,
- 51:41Speaker 2: and again common sense prevailed, right because this was always
- 51:44Speaker 2: going to go one of two ways. If jay Uso won,
- 51:48Speaker 2: it was going to be because of Brocklesner. Otherwise Obafemi wins,
- 51:52Speaker 2: and that really is what the match should have been,
- 51:55Speaker 2: and that's what we got. He beat him clean in
- 51:57Speaker 2: the middle of the ring in about what was it
- 51:59Speaker 2: eight minutes I think, with a fall from Grace one,
- 52:01Speaker 2: two three. There was no bloodline, there was no brock,
- 52:03Speaker 2: there were no shenanigans, there was no ref bump, none
- 52:06Speaker 2: of that stuff. And also, like once, the announcers like
- 52:10Speaker 2: Michael Cole and Corey Graves multiple times name drop brock
- 52:13Speaker 2: Lesner during the match for various reasons. Once they got
- 52:16Speaker 2: to like the second, third, fourth mention of brock Lesner,
- 52:19Speaker 2: I was like, all right, he's probably not showing up.
- 52:22Speaker 2: Because if he was showing up and it was going
- 52:23Speaker 2: to be some big surprise, oh my god, he's here, Like,
- 52:26Speaker 2: you wouldn't be name dropping him multiple times during the
- 52:29Speaker 2: match and having him in people's minds. They gave Jay
- 52:32Speaker 2: a lot of offense in this match. He is booked
- 52:35Speaker 2: like a top guy. He's one of their attractions on
- 52:38Speaker 2: the show. They're not going to squash him. I don't
- 52:40Speaker 2: know what people expected there. I'm fine with that. So
- 52:43Speaker 2: long as he lost, that's all that matters. Now, I
- 52:47Speaker 2: wish we would have gotten a stronger final. I get
- 52:49Speaker 2: that someone like Javon would have, you know, been less
- 52:54Speaker 2: realistic as far as like, Okay, who's going to actually
- 52:57Speaker 2: win this match? They're not sending Javon Evan to one
- 53:00Speaker 2: of the main events of Summer Slim this year. Nobody
- 53:02Speaker 2: would have bought into that, right, So if you're looking
- 53:05Speaker 2: at it from that perspective, it limits your options here.
- 53:08Speaker 2: The prospect of jay Uso winning was very real. That's
- 53:11Speaker 2: why some people were freaking out over it, and so
- 53:14Speaker 2: I guess that helped create some tension that might not
- 53:17Speaker 2: have been there otherwise. But for me, it wasn't a
- 53:19Speaker 2: good tension. I would have preferred a better opponent so
- 53:22Speaker 2: that we could get a better match out of it.
- 53:23Speaker 2: But that's me. We got what we got. The announcers
- 53:26Speaker 2: were wondering which champion Obo would choose to challenge at SummerSlam.
- 53:30Speaker 2: But on Monday, if you think back to that go
- 53:32Speaker 2: home segment with Oba and Jay, very heavily teased that
- 53:37Speaker 2: he would be going after Roman reigns. Given what happened
- 53:40Speaker 2: in the main event on this show, that kind of
- 53:41Speaker 2: throws things up in the air. I'll talk more about
- 53:44Speaker 2: the possibilities here with Obo when I get to the
- 53:47Speaker 2: main event here in a little bit. But we had
- 53:49Speaker 2: Eosky and Live Morgan in the finals of the Queen
- 53:51Speaker 2: of the Ring, and this was a win for Eosky.
- 53:54Speaker 2: It should not have gone any other way. Eo has
- 53:57Speaker 2: already made her choice. She's not going to make us wait.
- 54:00Speaker 2: She took one look at this and said, I ain't
- 54:01Speaker 2: going to SmackDown. Fuck that noise, Live Morgan. I'll see
- 54:05Speaker 2: you at SummerSlam. And so that is our first official
- 54:08Speaker 2: match for SummerSlam this year. They had a better match
- 54:12Speaker 2: than Oba and Jay did, even though the crowd was
- 54:15Speaker 2: quiet for most of it. This was a recurring theme
- 54:18Speaker 2: on this show, how quiet the crowd in Riod was
- 54:21Speaker 2: outside of the top stars, but really for the women's
- 54:24Speaker 2: matches in particular here, it was like pulling teeth to
- 54:27Speaker 2: try to get a reaction out of anybody. They gave
- 54:30Speaker 2: away the finish a little bit they did before the
- 54:32Speaker 2: match where Dan Housen had come out on stage, and
- 54:34Speaker 2: then Live Morgan came out to make her entrance, and
- 54:36Speaker 2: she stopped and she went to Dan Housen and she said,
- 54:39Speaker 2: you owe us a lot of money. Yeah, And I
- 54:40Speaker 2: keep thinking to myself, what the fuck is she talking about?
- 54:44Speaker 2: And then somebody was like, oh, it was a segment
- 54:46Speaker 2: that aired on like YouTube or something, and I'm like, Okay,
- 54:50Speaker 2: no wonder. I was like confused by this because they
- 54:53Speaker 2: keep talking about how much money Dan Housen owes them.
- 54:56Speaker 2: I think JD McDonough may have given him money or something,
- 54:58Speaker 2: but apparently that didn't air on RAW and I'm like,
- 55:02Speaker 2: but they're talking about it like everybody just knows what
- 55:04Speaker 2: she's talking about, So that's a little weird. But he
- 55:08Speaker 2: put a curse on her, and as soon as he
- 55:10Speaker 2: did that, it gave away the finish of the match.
- 55:12Speaker 2: To be honest with you, though nobody should have been
- 55:14Speaker 2: expecting Live Morgan to win regardless, but still I don't
- 55:18Speaker 2: know why you would do that. So our first match
- 55:20Speaker 2: is official for Summer Slim. The only question is does
- 55:22Speaker 2: Stephanie Viquierre come back beforehand, and if so, how does
- 55:26Speaker 2: that change things. I'm still waiting for Live Morgan to
- 55:30Speaker 2: actually defend her title. She has no title defenses since
- 55:35Speaker 2: WrestleMania Saturday Night's main event is probably our only hope
- 55:40Speaker 2: before Summer Slim and I could see that being where
- 55:42Speaker 2: a match happens with Stephanie and if there's let's say
- 55:45Speaker 2: a screwy finish, the judgment they gets involved, that could
- 55:49Speaker 2: be how we end up with a triple threat match
- 55:51Speaker 2: at Summer SLIM. I don't know what Stephanie's status is.
- 55:54Speaker 2: I don't think she's hurt. It could be a visa issue.
- 55:57Speaker 2: If it's a visa issue, then everything I'm saying doesn't
- 56:00Speaker 2: matter because we have no idea you know when that's
- 56:03Speaker 2: going to get cleared up and when she's going to
- 56:05Speaker 2: be back. I'm just saying if she let's assume that
- 56:08Speaker 2: she's going to be back shortly, I could see it
- 56:10Speaker 2: playing out like that. Like that's how we could get
- 56:12Speaker 2: to a three way scenario for SummerSlam. You would have
- 56:16Speaker 2: to do that initial match at Madison Square Garden, no
- 56:19Speaker 2: real finish interference. EO could even come out, you know,
- 56:22Speaker 2: to try to help Stephanie because the the odds, the
- 56:26Speaker 2: numbers are not in her favor, but we end up
- 56:28Speaker 2: with a triple threat. Easily could see something like that
- 56:32Speaker 2: seth Rollins and bron Breaker a steel cage match. A
- 56:35Speaker 2: boring first half of this match, I thought it really
- 56:39Speaker 2: picked up well though in the second half, and we
- 56:41Speaker 2: got hard way blood from Breaker. I didn't see how
- 56:44Speaker 2: it happened, but he got busted up around his eye
- 56:47Speaker 2: and the blood was flowing, and I would see he
- 56:49Speaker 2: looked like two face out there. Half of his face
- 56:51Speaker 2: was fine, the other half of his face was just
- 56:53Speaker 2: drenched in blood, and it really added to the match.
- 56:56Speaker 2: We don't see that very often in WWE, but in
- 56:58Speaker 2: a cage match, right, you gotta have blood in a
- 57:01Speaker 2: cage match, especially when you got a You have a
- 57:03Speaker 2: match here with two men that have been feuding for months.
- 57:07Speaker 2: This is like a blood feud. This goes back to
- 57:09Speaker 2: the end of last year. This is supposed to be
- 57:11Speaker 2: the blowoff here with Seth Rolins and the Vision, Seth
- 57:14Speaker 2: Rolins and Bron Breaker. They've each cost each other very
- 57:18Speaker 2: important things, opportunities, championships potentially, and now it all culminates
- 57:24Speaker 2: in this cage match, which is why I thought the
- 57:26Speaker 2: first half was just so boring. There was no sense
- 57:28Speaker 2: of urgency. They were just kind of going through very
- 57:32Speaker 2: like a very basic match, and I'm like, this doesn't
- 57:34Speaker 2: feel like a match between two guys who hate each
- 57:36Speaker 2: other's guts. And then by the end, Like I said,
- 57:39Speaker 2: it really picked up, but the blood added a lot
- 57:41Speaker 2: to it because we don't get it very often here, right,
- 57:43Speaker 2: we get it elsewhere we don't get it. We don't
- 57:45Speaker 2: get it in this company very often. If the goal
- 57:48Speaker 2: for SummerSlam is Roman Reigns defending his championship against Seth Rawlins,
- 57:54Speaker 2: which would only make sense if Oba chooses to go
- 57:57Speaker 2: after the other belt. Winning this match here was the
- 58:02Speaker 2: right outcome because there were people who were upset that
- 58:05Speaker 2: Seth won and bron lost. I don't like that Rollin's
- 58:10Speaker 2: winning here came at the expense of bron Breaker losing
- 58:12Speaker 2: this feud. I don't like that either. I'm not a
- 58:14Speaker 2: fan of that. I know that, you know, he showed
- 58:16Speaker 2: his toughness and his resilience here, and that's going to
- 58:18Speaker 2: be the story they tell. And there were some very
- 58:21Speaker 2: close near falls. It took Seth having to go to
- 58:23Speaker 2: the middle rope to do like a super stump to
- 58:25Speaker 2: win it. It's not like they buried him and he
- 58:28Speaker 2: just got beat with like triple h beating Booker t
- 58:31Speaker 2: with one pedigree, and it took fucking fifteen years for
- 58:33Speaker 2: him to crawl over and cover him at wrestle media
- 58:36Speaker 2: like it wasn't one of those situations. But again the
- 58:39Speaker 2: issue is that also bron has really cooled off a
- 58:42Speaker 2: lot this year. The injury didn't help, but he's taken
- 58:46Speaker 2: some big losses right first to see him punk at
- 58:48Speaker 2: the beginning of the year, and now he lost this
- 58:50Speaker 2: program with Seth, and it's like, where does he go
- 58:52Speaker 2: from here? And I just look at this and I
- 58:54Speaker 2: go I think a babyface turn. I think a split
- 58:56Speaker 2: from the vision and a turn is probably what would
- 58:59Speaker 2: be best for him at this point. Now, if it
- 59:02Speaker 2: is Roman and Seth at SummerSlam, Jacob fa too coming
- 59:05Speaker 2: for Seth makes sense. Then remember a couple of weeks
- 59:08Speaker 2: ago that segment backstage on Raw with Roman and Jacob
- 59:11Speaker 2: and Jacob had I think it was the night he
- 59:12Speaker 2: beat up Eric Andre and I think he gave a
- 59:14Speaker 2: spike to La Knight. And then before Roman took his
- 59:17Speaker 2: leave at the end of the show, he went over
- 59:19Speaker 2: to Jacob and said, look, I need one more thing
- 59:21Speaker 2: I need you to take care of. And I could
- 59:24Speaker 2: have sworn that I heard him whisper the name Seth
- 59:26Speaker 2: Rawlins to Fa Tou before telling him to kill him. Right,
- 59:29Speaker 2: he said kill him. We just didn't know who he
- 59:31Speaker 2: was supposed to kill. But I was sure that Roman
- 59:35Speaker 2: had mentioned the name Seth Rawlins to him, and so
- 59:37Speaker 2: it all may start making sense, you know, very soon.
- 59:40Speaker 2: It would make a lot more sense if they were
- 59:43Speaker 2: going to Roman and Seth soon to have Jacob then
- 59:46Speaker 2: try to take out Rolins. And if it's not Rollins
- 59:48Speaker 2: and Roman at SummerSlam, they could do Seth against Jacob
- 59:51Speaker 2: on that show, because I don't know what else Seth
- 59:52Speaker 2: would be doing there since he's seemingly done with the
- 59:55Speaker 2: Vision right now, right supposedly, I'll believe it when I
- 59:59Speaker 2: see it. Well, Bronson Reid is on his way back.
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: He looks to be in the best shape of his life.
- 1:00:03Speaker 2: He's on his way back soon. I say, Seth is
- 1:00:06Speaker 2: done with the Vision, But you know, is he? Are
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: we sure of that? Are we one hundred percent sure
- 1:00:11Speaker 2: of that? I don't know. Trick Williams defended the United
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: States Championship against Ricky Saints. This was Ricky's first singles
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: match on a ple He was in a big spot
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: and I said this on Friday. He's got to go
- 1:00:25Speaker 2: out there, he's got to show up, and he's got
- 1:00:27Speaker 2: to have the best match of his life because this
- 1:00:29Speaker 2: is the biggest spot for him since he came to
- 1:00:32Speaker 2: this company. He needed a good showing. And they went
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: out there and they had a very mid match. Although
- 1:00:39Speaker 2: I thought the work from Ricky was solid, it just
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: it didn't resonate. Nobody cared. He was on offense for
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: the majority of the match, and nobody reacted to hardly
- 1:00:48Speaker 2: anything that they were doing. It was sad, you know,
- 1:00:51Speaker 2: it was sad watching this. They came to chant, whooped
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: that Trick for his entrance, and then the bell rang
- 1:00:59Speaker 2: and it was like we went from rise and Shine
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: to bedtime. Not good. Trick won a very basic match.
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: Trick shot knee really out of nowhere after Ricky took
- 1:01:10Speaker 2: most of it, and Trick, to the surprise of no one,
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: is still the United States Champion. What that means for
- 1:01:15Speaker 2: Ricky Saints? Is he still going to be in the
- 1:01:17Speaker 2: picture or are they just going to go to Trick
- 1:01:20Speaker 2: and mellow and Ricky's kind of out in the cold.
- 1:01:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't know, but he got beat
- 1:01:25Speaker 2: pretty decisively.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Here.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: We'll see what happens. But Tiffitty Stratton against Jade Cargill
- 1:01:31Speaker 2: for the women's United States Championship. This wasn't much better
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: like their previous matches together. This was nothing that anyone
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: is going to be talking about the next day outside
- 1:01:40Speaker 2: of my dumbass. The match itself was nothing more than
- 1:01:45Speaker 2: an excuse for them to send Charlotte Flair out there
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: to whack Jade in the head with the championship and
- 1:01:50Speaker 2: cost her the match, just like Jade cost Charlotte her
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: chance to be Queen of the Ring right, which now
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: sets up the inevitable Summer Slam showdown between Charlotte Flair
- 1:01:58Speaker 2: and Jade Cargill. There were honestly more people talking about
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Jade Cargill for what happened online after the match. Because
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: Piper Nivin, who just passed six weeks postop after next
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: fusion surgery, she hasn't wrestled since last August. We don't
- 1:02:19Speaker 2: know when or even if she'll be wrestling again. She
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: doesn't consider herself retired, but if she does get back
- 1:02:23Speaker 2: in the ring, it's it's going to be a while.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: She was feeling a certain way about Jade using the
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: spinning boss Man slam in her match with Tiffany last night,
- 1:02:35Speaker 2: so after Jade quote tweeted a clip from the match
- 1:02:38Speaker 2: that a fan had posted of her doing the move
- 1:02:40Speaker 2: and basically complimenting her doing the move. Jade was admiring
- 1:02:45Speaker 2: her work. She quote tweeted this, Niven fired off this
- 1:02:49Speaker 2: shot five out of ten, A bit sloppy. You didn't
- 1:02:55Speaker 2: transfer her weight onto your chest, so you never really
- 1:02:57Speaker 2: had her and that's why she slipped down and you
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: got that double bump effect in her head. I think
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: she meant reverberated, verberated on the mat, but you look
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: great and who cares who you hurt so long as
- 1:03:13Speaker 2: you're all right right, And I'm like, wow, okay. I
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: thought it was a fan tweet at first from some
- 1:03:22Speaker 2: rando and then I saw that it was actually Piper
- 1:03:24Speaker 2: Divin who posted that. But she wasn't done. Then she
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: posted this, no, what warms my heart after all we've
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: been through, and she tagged Jade in this, Jade Cargill
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: paying homage to me and keeping my moves alive in
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: the ring. You're a real one, sis. Once I relearn
- 1:03:42Speaker 2: how to use my right arm again, I will show
- 1:03:44Speaker 2: you how to transfer their weight so you get the
- 1:03:46Speaker 2: pen next time. And when a fan replied, I'm pretty
- 1:03:52Speaker 2: sure that was a Bysses move to which I'm reading
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: this going, Actually it was the Big boss Man's move
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: before it was abyses me, but I guess by the
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: time Abyss was using it, the Big boss Man was dead,
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: so it was pretty much up for grabs. But yes,
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: a fan replied, I'm pretty sure that was Abyss's move,
- 1:04:10Speaker 2: and Piper replied with abysses retired from in ring competition,
- 1:04:14Speaker 2: and I personally asked Abyss for permission to use it
- 1:04:20Speaker 2: anyone thinking that this is a work. It's not a work,
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: there would be no point to it being a work.
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: It would be a shitty work if it was, especially
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: since she's not coming back to the ring anytime soon, Like,
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: what would the fucking point even be? And if it
- 1:04:33Speaker 2: isn't a work, which it's not, it's just as dumb, right.
- 1:04:37Speaker 2: She just comes off very extraordinarily petty, like this is
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: a coworker of hers if it bothers you that much,
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: this is what a DM is for, or a text message.
- 1:04:50Speaker 2: It just makes her look petty as hell, like, even
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: if there's some unwritten code here that she feels was broken,
- 1:04:56Speaker 2: I don't see what's accomplished by putting her on blast
- 1:04:59Speaker 2: like that, And the majority of the responses I saw
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: were negative towards Piper, not Jade, although Jade has her
- 1:05:06Speaker 2: very loyal fans who are now coming after Piper Niven.
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: But this, and again, this is why I didn't see
- 1:05:12Speaker 2: the purpose behind putting this out there publicly like that.
- 1:05:16Speaker 2: I get the sense that there are probably other people
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: in that women's locker room who may feel the same way,
- 1:05:20Speaker 2: who may not be too fond of Jade. If you remember,
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: many many months ago, there were reports about this actually
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: coming off that period where they did the angle where
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: Jade was taken out by a mystery attacker right she
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: fell onto the car who attacked Jade. There were all
- 1:05:37Speaker 2: kinds of reports about why she was off, is she heard,
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: is she getting vacation time? And then women in the
- 1:05:42Speaker 2: women's locker room who supposedly weren't fond of her, like
- 1:05:45Speaker 2: there's definitely some smoke to that fire, and I think
- 1:05:49Speaker 2: we saw a little bit of that come out on
- 1:05:51Speaker 2: x Hear from these Piper Niven posts. And in the
- 1:05:56Speaker 2: main event, it was Cody Rhoades defending the WWE Championship
- 1:06:00Speaker 2: against Gunther and Sammy's Ain. This was Sammy's tenth opportunity
- 1:06:04Speaker 2: at a world title here on the main roster. That
- 1:06:07Speaker 2: means he failed nine times coming into this. He already
- 1:06:11Speaker 2: had a WWE Championship match in Saudi this year, that
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: was at the Rumble six months ago, so it would
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: have been pretty bad for him to come in here
- 1:06:22Speaker 2: on his tenth try twice in one year in Riod
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: and lose again. But he didn't lose. They did the
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: damn thing, and so ten years and ten chances later,
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: Sammy's Ain is a world champion, and it's been quite
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: the journey for him to get to this point, from
- 1:06:42Speaker 2: Johnny Knoxville at WrestleMania to the WWE Championship, from Sammy
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Usso and the Bloodline to the WWE Championship, from the
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: gingerbread Man two months ago to the WWE Championship. So
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: I guess what I'm saying is the moral of the
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: story is for all of the La Night fans out there,
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: never give up hope. There's still a chance. It might
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: be fleeting, it might be like a little flicker, but
- 1:07:12Speaker 2: there's still a chance. I thought it was an excellent
- 1:07:16Speaker 2: main event. It was an excellent main event with an
- 1:07:19Speaker 2: excellent closing sequence, and I liked that it was Cody
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Rhodes the champion that Sammy pinned to do it, and
- 1:07:25Speaker 2: now Gunther. This should give the title scene on SmackDown
- 1:07:30Speaker 2: a nice little shakeup heading into SummerSlam, and it presents
- 1:07:33Speaker 2: a lot of options for where they could potentially go
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: with this, including the very real possibility that Sammy gets
- 1:07:39Speaker 2: the two month Drew McIntyre run from earlier this year,
- 1:07:42Speaker 2: or even worse because they have that Saturday Night's Made
- 1:07:45Speaker 2: Event show coming up on July eighteenth at Madison Square Garden.
- 1:07:49Speaker 2: I don't see Sammy. I don't even see Sammy getting
- 1:07:51Speaker 2: the Gender Mahall run that Vince gave Gender, and Vince
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: gave Gender a whole six months with that belt. Even
- 1:07:58Speaker 2: Kope Kingston got six months before he got squashed by
- 1:08:01Speaker 2: brock Lesner. I don't think Sammy even gets that long.
- 1:08:06Speaker 2: And I see some people online now more and more
- 1:08:08Speaker 2: people actually floating this idea of brock Lesner beating Sammy
- 1:08:13Speaker 2: z Ain at Saturday Night's Main Event and then defending
- 1:08:16Speaker 2: that championship against Obafemi at Summer Slim. I don't mind
- 1:08:21Speaker 2: them doing another Brock and Oba match at Summer Slim,
- 1:08:24Speaker 2: just but the thought of putting another belt on brock
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: Lesner just nauseates me, like, no, we don't need that.
- 1:08:33Speaker 2: I'm not saying that I can't see them doing it.
- 1:08:35Speaker 2: I could absolutely see them doing it right big Madison
- 1:08:38Speaker 2: Square Garden moment, brock Lesner wins the belt just to
- 1:08:41Speaker 2: transition it over to Obafemi, literally the definition of a
- 1:08:44Speaker 2: transitional champion. But just the thought of putting another belt
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: on Brock and him squashing Sammy the way that he
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: squashed Kofe. Can we not? Can we not do this? Please?
- 1:09:01Speaker 2: You know what else would be terrible? If they did
- 1:09:03Speaker 2: Oba Femi against Sammy's a in his Summer Slim, with
- 1:09:05Speaker 2: Brock costing Oba the match and Sammy retains only by
- 1:09:08Speaker 2: the skin of his teeth, and then we get Brock
- 1:09:11Speaker 2: and Oba the big finale at Wressel Palooza in September.
- 1:09:15Speaker 2: That's another possibility as well. Do they run Sammy and
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: Cody back in a singles match at Summer Slim with
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: Oba challenging Roman Reigns for the World Heavyweight Championship. This
- 1:09:26Speaker 2: seems to me like the likeliest scenario at the moment.
- 1:09:30Speaker 2: I may feel differently after, you know, Raw Tomorrow or
- 1:09:34Speaker 2: smack Down on Friday. But at this moment, as I
- 1:09:37Speaker 2: sit here and I go through in my mind the
- 1:09:39Speaker 2: list of all the various match possibilities for Summer Slam
- 1:09:43Speaker 2: or Saturday Night's main event, I could definitely see it
- 1:09:46Speaker 2: being Oba and Roman, Cody and Sammy one on one.
- 1:09:53Speaker 2: And I could also see, by the way, if they
- 1:09:54Speaker 2: do Roman and Oba, Brock costing Oba in that match,
- 1:09:59Speaker 2: saving Roman, and then they go off and do Brock
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: against Oba one last time and they save the Oba
- 1:10:05Speaker 2: coronation for WrestleMania next year because they feel like they
- 1:10:08Speaker 2: want to drag out the chase and they want to
- 1:10:10Speaker 2: make people wait for it, or they want to do
- 1:10:12Speaker 2: it on the big state. And I agree, you don't
- 1:10:15Speaker 2: always have to do the big one at WrestleMania. I'm
- 1:10:18Speaker 2: just telling you this is how they think. So if
- 1:10:22Speaker 2: he was to be screwed out of the championship by
- 1:10:25Speaker 2: Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, Brock doesn't wrestle, but he shows
- 1:10:28Speaker 2: up and screws him there on that show, that's what
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: they would do. They would do it with that in mind,
- 1:10:34Speaker 2: with the idea that Okay, we're gonna save it for Mania,
- 1:10:38Speaker 2: especially next year, because that got Mania in Saudi, and
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: you know they're gonna want to load that show up
- 1:10:43Speaker 2: and have as many attractions and big moments as they
- 1:10:46Speaker 2: possibly can. This is how they think, not saying that
- 1:10:50Speaker 2: that's how I would book it out. But there are
- 1:10:53Speaker 2: people who are like, no, why does it always have
- 1:10:55Speaker 2: to happen at WrestleMania. I agree it doesn't, but this
- 1:10:58Speaker 2: is how it is. CM Punk He's rumored to be
- 1:11:03Speaker 2: heading to SmackDown with a big summer slim match planned.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: How does he fit into the summer slim picture? Punk
- 1:11:10Speaker 2: to commentary on Friday Night for the CFFC the Cage
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Fury Fighting Championships, and as the other announcers were plugging
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: one of their upcoming events, they asked Punk, are you
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: going to be there? And Punk asked them is that
- 1:11:23Speaker 2: a Friday? I don't know, and they confirm, yep, it's
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: on a Friday, and Punk said, it's a Friday. I
- 1:11:29Speaker 2: don't know if I can make it, And then they
- 1:11:32Speaker 2: asked him you have any big news that you want
- 1:11:34Speaker 2: to go viral with and he said, I gained twenty
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: pounds recently. It's not good weight. This suits a little
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: tight ladies and gentlemen. I think this I think people
- 1:11:43Speaker 2: are looking more forward to what CM Punk looks like
- 1:11:47Speaker 2: physically when he returns than anything else. All this garbage
- 1:11:52Speaker 2: about him being on steroids and him being a body guy.
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: Now I have a feeling people are going to be
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: very disappointed when he shows up on Raw and Chicago
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: in a few weeks. But where does Punk fit into
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: all this? Punk's going to be on that Summer Slam
- 1:12:05Speaker 2: card in supposedly a big match. Any match he's going
- 1:12:08Speaker 2: to be in on that show is going to be
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: a big match, you know, whether it's for a title
- 1:12:11Speaker 2: or not. What are we looking at? Right? Punk coming
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: in and going right into a championship match wouldn't really
- 1:12:17Speaker 2: make a whole lot of sense. But you could do
- 1:12:21Speaker 2: punkin Cody as an undercard match. That doesn't work though.
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: The whole basis of the Punk and Cody stuff was
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: built around the championship. Remember what Punk told Cody when
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: they were on Raw the last time we saw Punk.
- 1:12:34Speaker 2: You never know when a championship opportunity may fall out
- 1:12:37Speaker 2: of the sky, and it's like, now you're gonna do
- 1:12:40Speaker 2: punkin Cody with no championship on the line. I mean
- 1:12:42Speaker 2: to me, that just doesn't make a lot of sense.
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: So I don't know what his role would be, but
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: you gotta just keep him in mind too. He should
- 1:12:51Speaker 2: be back on television imminently. What about Gunther? Where does
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: Gunther go from here? He's now lost three straight championship matches,
- 1:13:00Speaker 2: technically four if you want to count that little three
- 1:13:03Speaker 2: minute match when they restarted on SmackDown last week. What
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: the hell did they do with him? I think we
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: got a little peek into what they might be doing
- 1:13:10Speaker 2: with him because they shot an angle for social media
- 1:13:13Speaker 2: after the show where Gunter got to the back. He
- 1:13:15Speaker 2: was in the gorilla position, he got to the back,
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: he got all up in Nick Aldos's face. Adam Pierce
- 1:13:20Speaker 2: wasn't there. Nick Alldis was the one basically handing the
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: crown off to everybody. After their match. He gets up
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: in Nick Alldos's face. They had to be pulled apart
- 1:13:29Speaker 2: by agents and they got physical, and I think all
- 1:13:33Speaker 2: this even dropped an F bomb in there and they
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: had to be separated. And you look at that and
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: you go, well, it looks like Nick Alldis may finally
- 1:13:41Speaker 2: be dotting the tights. He may finally be wrestling in WWE.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: And I'm like are you, like, are we really looking
- 1:13:49Speaker 2: at a scenario where we're going into the second biggest
- 1:13:53Speaker 2: show of the year and their big idea for Gunther
- 1:13:56Speaker 2: is to put him in the ring with the general
- 1:13:59Speaker 2: manager or the retired for all intents and purposes, retire
- 1:14:03Speaker 2: general manager of SmackDown. This is the man who seven
- 1:14:07Speaker 2: months ago ended Johnson in his career and sent him
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: off into the sunset with a loss, who tapped him out,
- 1:14:15Speaker 2: the man who retired aj Styles in January. I guarantee you,
- 1:14:19Speaker 2: when we were talking about this in December, and we
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: were talking about this in January, at no point on
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: any of the podcasts that I did, or that anybody
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: else did, or any discourse on social media when people
- 1:14:32Speaker 2: were thinking about, well, looking ahead six months, who might
- 1:14:36Speaker 2: gun Th be wrestling in Minneapolis at Summer SLIM. I
- 1:14:39Speaker 2: guarantee you, not a single fucking person said, what about Nickoldis?
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: Oh?
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: Yeah, sure, the guy, the guy who retired two of
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: the biggest stars in the company. Yeah, he'll be wrestling
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: the general manager at SUMMERSLIM this year. We a fucking break.
- 1:14:55Speaker 2: If you would have told me then that this is
- 1:14:56Speaker 2: where we would be, I would just I would have
- 1:14:58Speaker 2: an entire podcast of nothing but laughing. I'd be laughing
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: for two hours straight at the stupidity of it. But
- 1:15:06Speaker 2: I'll tell you what I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't mind
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: it if Nick all this were to tell him, you
- 1:15:10Speaker 2: know what, I'm not gonna get in the ring with
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: you because I'm the general manager and it wouldn't be
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: right for me. It would be unprofessional for me. I
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: would be abdicating my duties and I enjoy my job
- 1:15:22Speaker 2: too much as the general manager to sacrifice it for
- 1:15:25Speaker 2: somebody like you. But I'll tell you what I am
- 1:15:26Speaker 2: going to do. I'm going to find a surrogate. I'm
- 1:15:29Speaker 2: going to find a suitable opponent to put you in
- 1:15:32Speaker 2: the ring with at SummerSlam, and let that be the
- 1:15:35Speaker 2: return of Iliya Dragonov and give us an undercard match
- 1:15:38Speaker 2: at SummerSlam between Gunther and Dragonov that I would be
- 1:15:42Speaker 2: okay with. That I would love to see. Yeah, I mean,
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: it doesn't have a championship on the line, but so
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: what what a What a great way to reintroduce Dragonov
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: back to the main roster and also give Gunther somebody
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: that he can beat because he you know, Dragonov ain't
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: gonna beat him so at least would get back in
- 1:16:00Speaker 2: the win column. That's what I would like to see.
- 1:16:04Speaker 2: And then the only other name I would throw in
- 1:16:05Speaker 2: there in this whole mix of like what happens next?
- 1:16:08Speaker 2: Johnny Gargano. I mentioned this. I threw this out in
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: my review last night. I said, what about Johnny Gargano?
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Is Johnny Gargano now that Sammy's am won the championship,
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: going to stop planking every week and maybe they're going
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: to turn him into like a stooge for Sammy. Wouldn't
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: be the worst spot for him to be in. He
- 1:16:25Speaker 2: could be the sacrificial lamb. Whenever somebody comes after Sammy,
- 1:16:28Speaker 2: he just throws Gargano in the way and they destroy Gargano.
- 1:16:32Speaker 2: The point is there are lots of questions, and I'm
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: here for it. I like it. This is what makes
- 1:16:37Speaker 2: for interesting discussion and hopefully interesting television because now we're
- 1:16:43Speaker 2: back to two hours of SmackDown every week. One more
- 1:16:46Speaker 2: note on this, Kevin Owens. I thought of him as
- 1:16:48Speaker 2: well when Sammy won the belt. I said, man, it's
- 1:16:50Speaker 2: a shame he's not around, and he clearly feels the
- 1:16:53Speaker 2: same way. He posted a long message on X after
- 1:16:56Speaker 2: the show, saying I've missed a lot of things that
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: I wish I had not in the last fifteen months
- 1:17:00Speaker 2: because of this injury, But today is by far the
- 1:17:03Speaker 2: one that I wish I had been there for the most.
- 1:17:05Speaker 2: He has brought out the best in me. Is both
- 1:17:07Speaker 2: an ally and a foe. That's because he is the best.
- 1:17:11Speaker 2: When you're consistently that good for that long, you become undeniable.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: Sammy becoming WWE champion was inevitable. He has deserved that
- 1:17:19Speaker 2: moment for a very long time, and I am so
- 1:17:21Speaker 2: happy to see him finally get it. The only thing
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: that was missing was Kevin Owens being there live to
- 1:17:29Speaker 2: give him a hug and then beat the living shit
- 1:17:31Speaker 2: out of him. It's the only thing that was missing.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: It would be a very Kevin Owens thing to do.
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: I don't know where he is with his recovery. I
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: think next month is twelve months. I believe a full
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: year since he had the next surgery, and I imagine
- 1:17:44Speaker 2: he's not that close yet to being medically cleared. But
- 1:17:49Speaker 2: I sure hope we can get him back real soon.
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: SmackDown could use Kevin Owens back on TV. And how
- 1:17:56Speaker 2: about this the mask worn by El Grande Americana Kaiser
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: in his TRIPAA match with Elgrande Americano. Gable and autographed
- 1:18:05Speaker 2: by Kaiser himself, was put up for auction by WWE
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: and Fanatics with a starting bid of one thousand dollars,
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: and it just sold for over fifty thousand dollars, with
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: one hundred percent of the net proceeds going directly to
- 1:18:20Speaker 2: the Doctor Sonrisas Foundation, supporting children with life threatening health conditions.
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: And that's a very cool thing. What's not cool? It
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: was actually quite the embarrassing blunder this week was WWE
- 1:18:34Speaker 2: and Fanatics putting up an auction for a steel chair
- 1:18:38Speaker 2: that was supposedly used during the women's Wargames match at
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: Survivor Series twenty twenty two that was the first ever
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: women's actually the first ever Wargames match of any kind
- 1:18:49Speaker 2: on the main roster, and they even included a photo
- 1:18:52Speaker 2: of the chair showing it was slightly dented, but the
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: listing was pulled with a top bit of only seventy
- 1:18:58Speaker 2: five dollars after fans pointed out that there was no
- 1:19:01Speaker 2: steel chair used during that women's Wargames match and it
- 1:19:06Speaker 2: was not autographed by any of the women in the match,
- 1:19:08Speaker 2: and it's not even clear if it was listed with
- 1:19:10Speaker 2: the wrong year, or if you want to give them
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: the benefit of the doubt, or if they were trying
- 1:19:15Speaker 2: to pull a fast one on people. But it came
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: down pretty quick. Look, you read the description here that
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: they posted with it. It sure don't sound like they
- 1:19:23Speaker 2: got the year wrong. This came from the listing the
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: first Women's Wargames match on WWE's main roster needed a
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: weapon that looked as unforgiving as the stipulation sounded. Bianca
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: bell Air, Alexa Bliss, Oska Mia Yim and the returning
- 1:19:38Speaker 2: Becky Lynch beat Damage Control Nikki Cross and Rhea Ripley
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: at Survivor Series twenty twenty two, closing a month's long
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: fight with steel all around them. This authentic match used
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: steel chair comes from that Women's Wargames match. Doesn't get
- 1:19:55Speaker 2: any more straightforward than that, says. No autograph has to
- 1:20:00Speaker 2: dress it up. Becky came back, the cage held, and
- 1:20:05Speaker 2: the chair took its share of the damage. What the
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: hell does that even mean? That sounds like they used
- 1:20:13Speaker 2: chat GPT to write that description. I'm not even joking
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: like that sounds like they used AI to write that
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: entire description. Maybe they used chat GPT to generate the
- 1:20:23Speaker 2: chair as well. It sounds like they thought they could
- 1:20:26Speaker 2: scam people and they got caught. Makes you wonder how
- 1:20:29Speaker 2: authentic some of the other auction items are. At least
- 1:20:32Speaker 2: the Americano mask one looks to be legit and the
- 1:20:35Speaker 2: money is going to a good cause. All right. I
- 1:20:38Speaker 2: know we got a lot of wrestling shows that you
- 1:20:40Speaker 2: guys are gonna be watching this afternoon, So let's get
- 1:20:42Speaker 2: through the mail bag and get you out of here.
- 1:20:44Speaker 2: You can email me the Solo Monster at gmail dot com.
- 1:20:47Speaker 2: Please include your name and where you are from when
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: you write in like these fine folks, Jessica from Selina, Kansas.
- 1:20:55Speaker 2: I have a take that isn't talked about enough, but
- 1:20:57Speaker 2: I believe that Cody Rhoades is one of the most
- 1:20:59Speaker 2: influential wrestlers of the past twenty years. Think about it.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: He left WWE, he went out and made his name
- 1:21:05Speaker 2: bigger on the ND scene. He helped form aw and
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: then left there to go back to WWE with his
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: Nightmare character, and he won the WWE Championship in what
- 1:21:14Speaker 2: is considered to be the greatest WrestleMania main event match
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: of all time. I feel like this is true, regardless
- 1:21:20Speaker 2: of what people think of Cody now or regardless of
- 1:21:23Speaker 2: whether or not his character is stale, which I think
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: it is, I don't disagree with you. He is definitely
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: one of the more influential wrestlers of the past two decades,
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: simply just for the AW part alone. Forget all the
- 1:21:40Speaker 2: other stuff, just for the work that he put in
- 1:21:43Speaker 2: with AW and being part of that core group of
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: guys that got together with Tony Kahn to form that company.
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: For that reason alone, all of those guys, Kenny, the Bucks, Cody,
- 1:21:55Speaker 2: all of them are some of the most influential wrestlers
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: of the past twenty years for that all them. Jonathan
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: from Charlotte, North Carolina. I know people are up in
- 1:22:04Speaker 2: arms over Athena losing to Maya World, but what if
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: this is all leading to somewhere Athena defends her Ring
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: of Honor Women's Championship against Maya World, Athena retains, and
- 1:22:15Speaker 2: then Billy Starks becomes the number one contender again, Only
- 1:22:18Speaker 2: this time Billy Starks gets training from Maya because she
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: knows how to beat Athena. It would be similar to
- 1:22:24Speaker 2: when Chad Gable trained Sammy Zay to take on Gunther
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: because Gable knew Gunther's weaknesses and how to take them
- 1:22:30Speaker 2: to the limit. This will then lead to Billy Starks
- 1:22:32Speaker 2: finally defeating Athena for the Ring of Honor Championship, ending
- 1:22:35Speaker 2: her forever reign. Well, the I agree with you. I
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: think that's fine, and I agree with you in this respect.
- 1:22:41Speaker 2: The only person who should be beating Athena to win
- 1:22:44Speaker 2: that championship is Billy Starks because that's what they have
- 1:22:48Speaker 2: been building to, seemingly for I mean literally years now,
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: and they just haven't pulled the trigger yet, which is ridiculous.
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: And Athena has just been stuck in this endless loop
- 1:22:59Speaker 2: of Ring Honor World title defenses when she should be
- 1:23:02Speaker 2: doing a lot more than that. So I agree with you.
- 1:23:05Speaker 2: Billy Starks is the one who should be winning that
- 1:23:07Speaker 2: championship from her, not anybody else. If they want to
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: work Maya World in there and give her training, I mean,
- 1:23:13Speaker 2: that's fine. I don't even know how many more years
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: of training Maya has over Billy. I know Billy is
- 1:23:18Speaker 2: still very young, but yeah, that's fine. But I don't
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: feel the same way about your second idea. Now, as
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: I was putting everything together, Jonathan also sent this in
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: I just happened to catch it this morning. He said,
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: now that Sammy's ain is finally WWE champion, I think
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: there's a way that you can cement him as a
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: bad guy going forward on SmackDown. You have him say
- 1:23:42Speaker 2: that he'll be defending the title a Saturday Night's Made
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: event against anyone. In the back Dan Housen answers and
- 1:23:49Speaker 2: says what a dream it would be to win the
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: championship in front of all of his fans. At MSG,
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: they have a match. Dan Housen gets a couple of
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: near falls on him. It looks like he's about to
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: win the time, but just as the referees back is turned,
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: Sammy low blows him and picks up the win. After
- 1:24:06Speaker 2: the bell, Sammy beats up dan Housen until Cody comes
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: out and makes the save. This sets up Cody and
- 1:24:11Speaker 2: Sammy to feud over the summer, and also establishes Sammy
- 1:24:14Speaker 2: Firmley as a bad guy by beating up Dan Housen
- 1:24:17Speaker 2: in Madison Square. Guard Jonathan, I love you, brother, but
- 1:24:20Speaker 2: this is a terrible idea. This is absolutely awful. First
- 1:24:24Speaker 2: of all dan Housen works in small doses. I mean
- 1:24:28Speaker 2: they've they've given him, given us a lot of him lately,
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: But Dan Housen works doing Dan Housen stuff what you're
- 1:24:36Speaker 2: talking about here, And I understand he'll be He'll be
- 1:24:39Speaker 2: super popular in New York City, right, He's going to
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: be so over Madison Square Garden. So I get it.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: You cannot have him in there taking Sammy's Ain to
- 1:24:50Speaker 2: the limit and coming this close to becoming WWE champion.
- 1:24:55Speaker 2: You cannot have Sammy's Ain resort to cheating as a
- 1:24:59Speaker 2: way to beat dan Hausen to keep his title and
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: expect me to still look at him with any credibility
- 1:25:06Speaker 2: whatsoever for a post summer feud with Cody Rhoads. Like
- 1:25:12Speaker 2: if it takes a low blow for Sammy Zane to
- 1:25:14Speaker 2: beat dan Hausen in a championship match to keep his belt,
- 1:25:19Speaker 2: I'm sorry. I cannot take him seriously against anybody that
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: you put him in the ring with. After that, you
- 1:25:24Speaker 2: may as well just you may as well take the
- 1:25:25Speaker 2: belt off him the very next mackdown. You will kill
- 1:25:29Speaker 2: him dead. Dan Hausen should not be getting a WWE
- 1:25:33Speaker 2: championship match with close near falls. I don't care what
- 1:25:36Speaker 2: building they're in. I wish I could sit here and
- 1:25:39Speaker 2: say that it's not anything WWE would do. But with
- 1:25:42Speaker 2: this regime and the way that they know, they're so
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: big on celebrity and they love Dan Housen, they're building
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: that entire show around him. By the way, the advertising
- 1:25:51Speaker 2: for Saturday Nights Made event has nobody on it except
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: Dan Housen. You can do literally anything else you want
- 1:25:57Speaker 2: to on that show with Dan Housen, but him wrestling
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: for the WWE Championship and coming close to winning it
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: would be the most ridiculous thing that they have done.
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: I would even say it might be more ridiculous than
- 1:26:10Speaker 2: what they did with Pat Mcaphee earlier this year. That's
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: how ridiculous that would be. Chris from Willow Grove, Pennsylvania.
- 1:26:20Speaker 2: Paul Hayman's interview on Insight with Chris van Vliet yielded
- 1:26:23Speaker 2: the following. John Cena worked a match with Cesorrow and
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: told Vince McMahon, I could made event a WrestleMania with
- 1:26:29Speaker 2: that guy. Obviously Vince had his booking flaws, but if
- 1:26:33Speaker 2: he was convinced to do the match on a ple
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: what year an event could you see it happening. Well,
- 1:26:40Speaker 2: if you were listening to the sound off at the time,
- 1:26:42Speaker 2: then I don't know how recent of a fan you are,
- 1:26:46Speaker 2: But I was talking about this for months, for months
- 1:26:50Speaker 2: on end, pushing the idea of a Brock Lesnar Cesorrow
- 1:26:54Speaker 2: match because there was a story there for it. It
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: was right in front of their faces for the Royal
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Rumble in twenty fifteen. That's where it should have happened.
- 1:27:05Speaker 2: And look the triple threat that we ended up getting
- 1:27:07Speaker 2: with Cina and Lesner and Rollins. That was fantastic, but
- 1:27:10Speaker 2: the story was so simple. Sosorrow became a Paul Hayman
- 1:27:13Speaker 2: guy right coming out of that WrestleMania in twenty fourteen.
- 1:27:17Speaker 2: Hayman was coming out there every single week after that
- 1:27:20Speaker 2: talking about Brock Lesner is the one in twenty one
- 1:27:23Speaker 2: and one. He's the man who ended the Undertaker's undefeated
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: strigger WrestleMania, right over and over and over again every
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: single week, and at some point that's got to get
- 1:27:32Speaker 2: on Csorrow's nerves. It becomes an issue and you go
- 1:27:36Speaker 2: from there with it. Once Brock is back, because Brock
- 1:27:38Speaker 2: had taken a few months off, as he always did,
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: you can start to really build tension until one day
- 1:27:43Speaker 2: Csorrow's had enough. He knows he can beat Hayman's beast, right,
- 1:27:47Speaker 2: he knows he can take that championship from Brock and
- 1:27:50Speaker 2: they have a match at the Royal Rumble because they're
- 1:27:53Speaker 2: not going to headline WrestleMania with that, but the Rumble
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: is a safe choice. The Rumble match is always going
- 1:27:58Speaker 2: to be the focus of that show anyway, usually not
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: going to be the title match. They could have absolutely
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: gotten away with doing that match there on that show.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: That was the time and place to do it, and
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: it never happened because, as we know, and Hayman talked
- 1:28:12Speaker 2: about it again in his interview with Chris van Vliet,
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: their plan was never to push to Sorrow. It was
- 1:28:18Speaker 2: to give Hayman something to do on TV until Brock
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: came back. Everybody was so excited at that time. Oh man,
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: he's a Hayman guy. Now this is going to be great.
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: He bodies slam Big show out of the ring to
- 1:28:28Speaker 2: win the Andre Battle Royal. What a great moment. And
- 1:28:31Speaker 2: now he's a Hayman guy. Right, Everything's coming up aces
- 1:28:34Speaker 2: for this man. And they never had any intention of
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: pushing him as a Paul Hayman guy. It was all
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: about giving Hayman something to do and something to say
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: on TV every week until Brock came back. He was
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: a fucking joke. Squeaky from Washington. Have you heard rumors
- 1:28:52Speaker 2: about Vince McMahon not liking Raven because of his friendship
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: with Shane. If so, could you expand on it. I
- 1:28:58Speaker 2: just think it's so interesting and bizarre. Well, I mean,
- 1:29:02Speaker 2: that was one of the many reasons that Raven's first
- 1:29:04Speaker 2: run with WWE fail. That was the Johnny Polo run.
- 1:29:08Speaker 2: Vince had him doing everything but wrestle, you know, and
- 1:29:11Speaker 2: he wanted to wrestle. That's really what it boiled down
- 1:29:13Speaker 2: to me. He was a manager, he was a commentator,
- 1:29:17Speaker 2: He was an associate producer from Monday Night Raw, and
- 1:29:20Speaker 2: he has said in past interviews that Vince was grooming
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: him to be on the creative team with Bruce and Pat.
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: And he said it was nice, you know, to make
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: a six figure salary and he got health benefits because
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: he was an employee. He mentioned he had Cobra insurance
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: when he left. For those who live here in the
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: States who know what Cobra is, basically, you can continue
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: your health insurance but now you're paying for You have
- 1:29:44Speaker 2: the same level of coverage, but now you're responsible for
- 1:29:46Speaker 2: paying for But he wanted to wrestle. He wanted to wrestle.
- 1:29:50Speaker 2: There's also the relationships that he was having with female
- 1:29:53Speaker 2: coworkers in the office that led to a company policy
- 1:29:57Speaker 2: that banned that sort of thing. They should have called
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: it the Raven effect. It's kind of funny looking back
- 1:30:03Speaker 2: at it, considering all the non disclosure agreements that Vince
- 1:30:06Speaker 2: McMahon would later sign with various women over the years.
- 1:30:11Speaker 2: Fraternizing with female colleagues. But the Shane stuff was kind
- 1:30:16Speaker 2: of the nail in the coffin for him, because he
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: got real tight with Shane McMahon for a while there,
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: and so he would take and Shane. How old was
- 1:30:23Speaker 2: Shane Shane had to be early twenties at that point,
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: and he would take Shane out partying. And there's the
- 1:30:28Speaker 2: famous story. One night Vince is sleeping Shane drunk dials
- 1:30:34Speaker 2: Vince at like four point thirty in the morning and
- 1:30:36Speaker 2: he calls him Vic, Hey, Vic, which is what Johnny
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: Polo would call Vince on TV when they did commentary together.
- 1:30:42Speaker 2: So Vincent he had to go right away. He goes, Hey, Vic,
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: I'm staying over at Polo's place tonight. So yeah, Vincent, Linda.
- 1:30:51Speaker 2: They had no love for Scott Levy. He was corrupting
- 1:30:56Speaker 2: their baby boy. A lot of the boys gave shit
- 1:31:00Speaker 2: for sucking up to Vince, and he was like, what
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: are you talking about? Like, if anything, I'm getting heat,
- 1:31:04Speaker 2: and it did. It got him a lot of heat
- 1:31:06Speaker 2: and then he was gone. Jack from San Diego, I've
- 1:31:11Speaker 2: been very annoyed with the lack of good tag team
- 1:31:14Speaker 2: names lately, and I'm wondering if you feel the same. Nowadays,
- 1:31:17Speaker 2: it seems like companies just slap two wrestlers' names or
- 1:31:19Speaker 2: gimmicks together for their team name and call it a day.
- 1:31:22Speaker 2: Even fans online often have this same mindset. Gone are
- 1:31:26Speaker 2: the days of Demolition, Legion of Doom, Road Warriors, the Rockers.
- 1:31:32Speaker 2: Imagine if Demolition was around today, they would be called
- 1:31:35Speaker 2: the Smashing Axes or something. Curious to hear your opinion,
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: do you think wrestling needs more original tag team names? Also,
- 1:31:43Speaker 2: what are some of the best and worst team names
- 1:31:45Speaker 2: in modern wrestling? Well, I agree with you, they do
- 1:31:50Speaker 2: need more of it, and yes, most of the names
- 1:31:53Speaker 2: are are fucking terrible. Right, the Judgment day. I'm used
- 1:31:57Speaker 2: to it by now, but honestly, the Judgment it's a
- 1:32:00Speaker 2: pretty bad name. The MFTs is a terrible name, The
- 1:32:05Speaker 2: Vision sucks, the war Raiders doesn't make any sense, Phraxium
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: is really not that great. I think Damian Priest in
- 1:32:14Speaker 2: Our Truth get called themselves WEPA up. It's the real thing.
- 1:32:21Speaker 2: I'm not making that up, I don't think. I don't
- 1:32:23Speaker 2: know if they call them that on TV anymore. But
- 1:32:25Speaker 2: at one point that was supposedly their team name, WEPA Up.
- 1:32:28Speaker 2: Now we know with Damian Priest it's wepa time, but
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: like as a tag team name, right, because with Truth
- 1:32:33Speaker 2: it's like what's up? So they just put them together.
- 1:32:36Speaker 2: It's exactly what Jack is talking about here, WEPA Up.
- 1:32:40Speaker 2: That has to go down in the annals of some
- 1:32:42Speaker 2: of the words. Like if you think of the worst
- 1:32:44Speaker 2: tag team names, and there have been some bad ones. Okay,
- 1:32:47Speaker 2: we've had the Ding Dongs, We've had the Dicks, there
- 1:32:50Speaker 2: have been some bad tag team names over the years.
- 1:32:52Speaker 2: WEPA Up is gonna be in the top ten, guarantee, guarantee,
- 1:32:57Speaker 2: top ten worst tag team names of all time. American
- 1:33:01Speaker 2: Maid actually American Maid is not a bad name, but
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: they're not even American Maid anymore. There are a bunch
- 1:33:07Speaker 2: of luchadors under a mask, Julio and Bruto. American Maid
- 1:33:10Speaker 2: doesn't exist anymore. Fatal Influence is not a bad name.
- 1:33:13Speaker 2: I like Fatal Influence. The Righteous I think that's fine.
- 1:33:19Speaker 2: The Bang Bang Gang sucks. The conglomeration is not good.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: The Dogs is a shit name. Divine Dominion is pretty cool.
- 1:33:30Speaker 2: I thought The Murder Machines was a good one, but
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: I don't think Brian Cage and Lance Archer are even
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: a team anymore. The Swirl forgot about that gem in
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: aw the Swirl. I mean, what the fuck are we
- 1:33:43Speaker 2: doing here? What are we doing with these names? I
- 1:33:48Speaker 2: agree we need an overhaul here with these tag team names.
- 1:33:51Speaker 2: This is terrible. Liam from Milton Keynes, England, I want
- 1:33:58Speaker 2: to thank you for your podcast. Really Hell help me
- 1:34:00Speaker 2: when my dad passed away last year and helped me
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: with my sobriety. I've got a question for the sound off.
- 1:34:06Speaker 2: I'm not sure if this has been asked, but have
- 1:34:08Speaker 2: you heard Devon Dudley's comments a couple of months ago
- 1:34:11Speaker 2: about how Jim Ross was racist to him? When he
- 1:34:15Speaker 2: was in WW. Well, first of all, I'm glad that
- 1:34:18Speaker 2: you are doing well now. Liam. I appreciate you sharing that,
- 1:34:22Speaker 2: and yes I did hear. I thought I talked about it,
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: but I did hear the comments. I'm not going to
- 1:34:28Speaker 2: go through all of it again, but he shared actually
- 1:34:30Speaker 2: multiple experiences of dealing with Jim Ross in WWE and
- 1:34:35Speaker 2: Jim Ross saying things to him that, you know, were
- 1:34:38Speaker 2: very racist. I mean, if Jim Ross said these things
- 1:34:41Speaker 2: to him, and I don't really see why Devon would
- 1:34:44Speaker 2: just make it up. I mean, there's no two ways
- 1:34:47Speaker 2: are out. It was very inappropriate and very disappointing. Zach
- 1:34:53Speaker 2: from Liberty, Kentucky. I was rewatching Cody and Romans match
- 1:34:57Speaker 2: from WrestleMania of forty and it got me thinking wrestle
- 1:35:00Speaker 2: forty was a great show, just like WrestleMania seventeen. But
- 1:35:03Speaker 2: if you remember, after WrestleMania seventeen, creative started to go downhill,
- 1:35:08Speaker 2: just like creative for WWE after WrestleMania of forty. Am
- 1:35:11Speaker 2: I crazy for thinking this? Or do you think I'm
- 1:35:13Speaker 2: onto something?
- 1:35:16Speaker 1: No?
- 1:35:16Speaker 2: I mean there's there's something to it when you have
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: a big match and you pay it off or a
- 1:35:21Speaker 2: big story and you pay it off with the big
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: climax of the story. You've got a reset, and when
- 1:35:29Speaker 2: you push the reset button, sometimes you reset and you
- 1:35:32Speaker 2: you try to start a new story, and that new
- 1:35:34Speaker 2: story sucks. Other times you might start a new story
- 1:35:38Speaker 2: and it's it's a good story. We certainly haven't gotten
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: a lot of that from WWE since WrestleMania of forty
- 1:35:46Speaker 2: Brianna from Jackson, Mississippi. I was reading the Wrestling Observer
- 1:35:50Speaker 2: Complete Collection from January to June of nineteen ninety seven
- 1:35:54Speaker 2: on kindle, and in the June sixteenth edition, Dave recaps
- 1:35:57Speaker 2: not only the fight between Roddy Piper and Kevin nat
- 1:36:00Speaker 2: after Nitro, but also the hair pulling incident between Brett
- 1:36:03Speaker 2: Hart and Shawn Michaels which happened on the same day. Oh,
- 1:36:06Speaker 2: I remember that they were pulling each other's hair like
- 1:36:08Speaker 2: a bunch of girls in the bathroom. They had to
- 1:36:10Speaker 2: be separate. I think Brett ripped a chunk of Sean's
- 1:36:13Speaker 2: hair out of his head, and then I think on
- 1:36:16Speaker 2: TV that night they announced that there was some unprofessional
- 1:36:18Speaker 2: conduct right and both men had been sent home. Anyway,
- 1:36:23Speaker 2: he says in his opinion while Brett and Sean were
- 1:36:26Speaker 2: both jockeying for the top position in the company, Stone
- 1:36:29Speaker 2: Cold and the Undertaker had become bigger stars. This is
- 1:36:34Speaker 2: this is I guess in Breonna's opinion at this point
- 1:36:36Speaker 2: in June of ninety seven. I guess in Dave as
- 1:36:40Speaker 2: she's saying, that's Dave's opinion at this point in June
- 1:36:43Speaker 2: of ninety seven. How would you rank Taker, Austin, Brett,
- 1:36:46Speaker 2: and Sean purely in terms of star power. In terms
- 1:36:50Speaker 2: of star power and importance to the company, Brett would
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: be number one, Brett would be number one. I would say,
- 1:36:59Speaker 2: I mean, Sean was in and out a lot in
- 1:37:01Speaker 2: the early part of ninety seven, but I would still
- 1:37:04Speaker 2: have to say, oh man, it's tough. I go back
- 1:37:09Speaker 2: and forth between Shawn and Austin in this spot. Austin
- 1:37:12Speaker 2: hadn't I mean, he was very popular, but he hadn't
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: really caught fire in the way that he would later
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: in the year. So I would say Brett, then Sean,
- 1:37:21Speaker 2: then Austin, and then take her. Taker was that guy
- 1:37:24Speaker 2: you could rely on. He was loyal to the company.
- 1:37:29Speaker 2: He was a very important part of that roster. But
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: he was not a star on the level of the
- 1:37:34Speaker 2: other three at that time, I would rank him dead last.
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: Simon from Iowa. I've noticed over the years that the
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: World Heavyweight title looked the best on Batista, and the
- 1:37:46Speaker 2: WWE title twenty fifteen looked the best on Seth Rollins.
- 1:37:51Speaker 2: Honorable mention Ray and Eddie with the WWE Tag team belts,
- 1:37:55Speaker 2: as well as Paul London and Brian Kendrick. Do you
- 1:37:57Speaker 2: have any mentions to who looks best with which? I
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: always thought Brett looked pretty good with that winged Eagle.
- 1:38:04Speaker 2: I thought Randy Savage looked pretty good with the Winged
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: Eagle as well. I actually liked the Ultimate Warrior and
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: all the different colored belts that he had, the blue
- 1:38:11Speaker 2: and the yellow. What else did he have? You had
- 1:38:14Speaker 2: the white? That's what I have. I have the replica
- 1:38:18Speaker 2: of winged Eagle on the white strap. So I always
- 1:38:21Speaker 2: like that. In terms of I guess more recent times,
- 1:38:28Speaker 2: more modern times, I mean, no one that I could
- 1:38:35Speaker 2: think of in particular, really, I mean, I don't pay
- 1:38:37Speaker 2: too much attention to that sort of thing. There's so
- 1:38:41Speaker 2: many belts right now that don't really look all that good.
- 1:38:43Speaker 2: I don't really, I don't look at it and go, man,
- 1:38:46Speaker 2: that's a great belt and it looks so great on
- 1:38:48Speaker 2: this person. Yeah, I don't really have too many recent
- 1:38:52Speaker 2: examples I can give you, honestly, the belts just in general,
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: the belts were so much better back then, like the
- 1:39:02Speaker 2: the the old Intercontinental title, all right, when when Seawan
- 1:39:06Speaker 2: had it, right, I thought, I always looked good on
- 1:39:08Speaker 2: Sean Razor when Razor had the Intercontinental title, that was
- 1:39:13Speaker 2: just a great belt. The World Heavyweight Championship is a
- 1:39:17Speaker 2: pretty cool looking belt. Actually, when the Undertaker had it,
- 1:39:19Speaker 2: probably two thousand and seven, and that was probably when,
- 1:39:23Speaker 2: like physically, he was in the best shape of his life.
- 1:39:26Speaker 2: When he had that World Heavyweight Championship on him, it
- 1:39:29Speaker 2: looked like it was made for him. Neil from North Carolina,
- 1:39:34Speaker 2: I heard you speak about the Extreme Horseman, which got
- 1:39:37Speaker 2: me wondering, out of the original four horsemen, who is
- 1:39:39Speaker 2: your favorite, Flair, Arn Only or Tully Flair. I would say,
- 1:39:46Speaker 2: in order Flair, not only Flair, Tully arn and then
- 1:39:51Speaker 2: Oi was I have no use for Oly Steve from Virginia.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: What are the most video game like matchups? What I
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: mean is, what are the matches that would only seem
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: to be booked in a video game but were actually
- 1:40:04Speaker 2: made in real life.
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: Oh.
- 1:40:06Speaker 2: I would say the Sandman against the Invisible Man recently.
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: That's a pretty good one. I don't think I could
- 1:40:12Speaker 2: come up with a better example than that. Maybe El
- 1:40:15Speaker 2: Grande Americano against El Grande Americano. See, that's some shit
- 1:40:19Speaker 2: that would happen in two player mode where I wanted
- 1:40:22Speaker 2: to be Americano, but my friend beat me to it,
- 1:40:25Speaker 2: so we had Americano one and Americano two and Nicholas
- 1:40:31Speaker 2: from Long Island, New York. Since WWE is having another
- 1:40:34Speaker 2: Sweet Saudi Money show, I have a by Rent or
- 1:40:37Speaker 2: Sell question for you. Most embarrassing Undertaker matches in Saudi Arabia,
- 1:40:42Speaker 2: Undertaker against Goldberg at Super Showdown twenty nineteen, Undertaker and
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: Kane against Shawn Michaels in Triple h at Crown Jewel
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: twenty eighteen, or Undertaker winning the Tuake Mountain Trophy Gauntlet
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: at Soup Showdown twenty twenty. Didn't we get Undertaker and
- 1:41:04Speaker 2: aj Styles and the ring in that gauntlet. I don't
- 1:41:07Speaker 2: remember a whole lot about that gauntlet other than how
- 1:41:09Speaker 2: fucking pointless it all was. I didn't look at that
- 1:41:11Speaker 2: as anything that was overly embarrassing. It's certainly not more
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: embarrassing than the other two. I'm gonna I'm gonna sell
- 1:41:18Speaker 2: on the uh the gauntlets. It's really between the other
- 1:41:23Speaker 2: two and I gotta I mean, I gotta go with
- 1:41:26Speaker 2: the tag match. I gotta buy that is the most
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: embarrassing because it wasn't just Undertaker or anything Undertaker did
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: other than looking old. It was Caine's mask flying off
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: his head when it wasn't supposed to do. It was
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: Triple h getting hurt. It was just how slow and
- 1:41:42Speaker 2: just sad, how sad it was watching these four men
- 1:41:46Speaker 2: who at one time were such big stars and such
- 1:41:49Speaker 2: an important part of the roster, and all the great
- 1:41:51Speaker 2: matches they had, and yeah, I can't, I can't go
- 1:41:54Speaker 2: with anything other than that. The Goldberg thing was pretty embarrassing,
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: him bashing his own fucking head and concussing himself before
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: the match, and then they have all the excuses of
- 1:42:05Speaker 2: how hot it was and he was concussed. It was
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: just one shit show after another. And then Goldberg nearly
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: paralyzing the Undertaker on that attempt at a jackhammer. I
- 1:42:17Speaker 2: will forever love the look on Undertaker's face after he
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: pinned Goldberg and the match was over, and they zoomed
- 1:42:23Speaker 2: in on his face, like, if that isn't the most
- 1:42:25Speaker 2: like disappointed dad look that you've ever seen on a wrestler,
- 1:42:29Speaker 2: I don't know what is. It's a close number two gonna.
- 1:42:34Speaker 2: I'm gonna rent on that one, but I gotta buy
- 1:42:35Speaker 2: on the tag match anyway. Good questions, fun questions, keep
- 1:42:39Speaker 2: emailing me the solemn answer at gmail dot com. I
- 1:42:43Speaker 2: will be live for the Raw post show tomorrow, two
- 1:42:46Speaker 2: hours earlier than usual because Raw is starting two hours
- 1:42:49Speaker 2: earlier than usual on Netflix, so just be aware of that.
- 1:42:53Speaker 2: And then on Tuesday, a brand new Uncrowned wrestling show.
- 1:42:57Speaker 2: If you want to know where my review is going
- 1:42:59Speaker 2: to be for Forbidden Door, that is where you will
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: be able to find my first thoughts on Forbidden Door.
- 1:43:04Speaker 2: It will be on that show because I will not
- 1:43:07Speaker 2: be live for that tonight, although I will be watching,
- 1:43:10Speaker 2: so we'll talk about that, We'll talk about any fallout
- 1:43:13Speaker 2: from Slammiversary Tonight, we'll talk about the Paul Hayman interview
- 1:43:16Speaker 2: with Chris Van Vliet. That'll be on Tuesday plus Tuesday
- 1:43:19Speaker 2: Night Titans Live with JD on his channel on Tuesday night.
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: I'm sure we'll have plenty to discuss, and we got
- 1:43:25Speaker 2: the post Forbidden Door episode of Dynamite. Finally we're going
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: to be on the road to redemption, so we'll have
- 1:43:31Speaker 2: the Dynamite post show on Wednesday. We have SmackDown, which
- 1:43:35Speaker 2: is a tape show next week, but I will be
- 1:43:37Speaker 2: live for SmackDown, the first two hour SmackDown on Friday,
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: so all of the usual shows should be going up
- 1:43:44Speaker 2: and next Sunday, back with you for episode nine to seventy,
- 1:43:49Speaker 2: only thirty episodes away. Can you believe it? Nine to
- 1:43:53Speaker 2: seventy is coming up next Sunday. So until then, be well,
- 1:43:56Speaker 2: stay saved, have yourselves a great rest of your week,
- 1:43:58Speaker 2: and I will see you for more SoundOff during the
- 1:44:00Speaker 2: week and next Sunday. Until then, take care, guys. The
- 1:44:05Speaker 2: solo Monster sounds off backstage. We had Fraxium and the
- 1:44:08Speaker 2: MotorCity machine guns. Holy shit, they live. So they're walking
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: along backstage and Candice Larey approaches that She said, look
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: at what happened to Johnny, and we see Johnny Gargano.
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: He is lying face down on top of a box
- 1:44:20Speaker 2: that has marked NXT. I want you to imagine flying
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: all the way to work and you get there and
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: you find out, okay, boss, what am I doing tonight?
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: And your job, after flying all the way in here
- 1:44:32Speaker 2: is to lay face down on top of a box
- 1:44:35Speaker 2: for two minutes and say nothing. I don't even think
- 1:44:38Speaker 2: he'd blinked. He looked catatonic as he was laying there.
- 1:44:42Speaker 2: And that's it. That's all he did on this show.
- 1:44:44Speaker 2: That was his only task today, fly into work and
- 1:44:46Speaker 2: lay on top of a box. I mean, look, I
- 1:44:48Speaker 2: guess it's not bad work if you can get it.
- 1:44:50Speaker 4: The Solo Monster sounds off, bringing you the good, the bad,
- 1:44:55Speaker 4: and the ugly. Check out the weekly live streams bonus
