[SPEAKER_00]: is the Steve Downs, the voice of Master Chief, Spartan 1-1-7, with an incoming message for Ryan Green and all, we'll listen to the podcast It Just Works, let's finish the fight.
0:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Listen up, Chief, out.
0:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Hello everyone and welcome to the It Just Works podcast.
0:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm your host Ryan and today we have a long time Guess finally returning who even thought he was blacklisted because I totally forgot that we recorded an episode and forgot to finish part two and then release it So that's actually completely on me and the revelations kind of insane But yeah, I'd like to welcome back to the podcast Alex Alex.
0:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for coming back How you doing?
0:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Pretty good pretty good
0:49
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, my, uh, my ideas and my thoughts were just too hard for this podcast so I thought I was down the drain.
0:59
[SPEAKER_01]: They were too strong.
1:00
[SPEAKER_01]: They were too strong.
1:01
[SPEAKER_01]: And I couldn't have you on here that honestly we need to tell me that the other day I was I I'm still dying over it because I just went right over my head.
1:08
[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, I was even thinking I was like making dinner tonight.
1:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm like, oh, I should just find that oblivion episode editor.
1:13
[SPEAKER_02]: And just release it because it's just been sitting there for I think what a year a full on year now Because we definitely I think recorded it by August last year or something like that Well, you know, you know, I played that game so much that you could play the Nintendo Switch version now because that's coming out So you could play it on that and give your thoughts there and you know, I already retained all the blavians So you know, there's there's nothing new in there for me That is true.
1:39
[SPEAKER_01]: So what I'll probably do is
1:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Maybe try to finish the shivering aisles on the switch to then since I did the main quest on the Xbox and kind of talk about it.
1:48
[SPEAKER_01]: The performance is a little tough.
1:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Unfortunately, the game does look amazing on the switch to but there's some technical hiccups with optimization, but there's actually issues across the board with all platforms if you guys didn't know that.
2:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, man.
2:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm so happy to have you back.
2:04
[SPEAKER_01]: So thank you for being here today kind of want to start off with like what we're talking about so later in the episode will be really touching on old school ruined escape kind of revisiting that.
2:13
[SPEAKER_01]: It's been a very long time since the episodes even been aired, which was all the way back in 2021.
2:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you for writing that down for me.
2:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Episode 58, which is crazy, but we just wanted to talk about some of the updates and give massive props to their current CEO who definitely deserves all of the props so far.
2:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Making their right decisions and trying to move the needle forward, which is something that you normally don't hear in the gaming industry, especially with such a...
2:39
[SPEAKER_01]: love it franchise it's had such longevity like it has so we will be touching on that later but let's talk about the games that we're playing now Alex besides OSRS is there any other games that you've kind of dabbled in or is that pretty much it I played power world with you that was pretty fun yeah budget Pokemon with guns yeah mainly just looking forward to September 9th and September 15th
3:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so we'll definitely touch on those.
3:09
[SPEAKER_01]: We got Valheim coming out for its full release.
3:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Finally, Valheim is super popular.
3:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I played it for five minutes, and I couldn't do it.
3:17
[SPEAKER_01]: But I will be checking out the full release because it is on Game Pass.
3:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Also, just announced for Game Pass as of today is Runescape Dragon Wilds, even though I pre-order the Deluxe Edition.
3:26
[SPEAKER_01]: So, I don't know what I'm gonna do there.
3:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, so that's actually coming out on Game Pass, but it's got one point over lease coming out September 15th And I got to tell you after seeing the new trailer today.
3:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I am beyond excited, but we'll kind of touch on that later Uh, as for me, I've been playing way too many different games I don't know if I'll ever finish all of them because it's kind of annoying I'm playing everything but that's on the switch to From Indiana Jones fall out for Skyrim for the millionth time and oblivion remastered, which just released
3:57
[SPEAKER_01]: and as i mentioned it looks really good honestly it's really impressive how good it looks on the switch to unfortunately the frame rate and the frame pacing is god awful and kind of waiting for some optimization updates that but those are going to be pushing through the other updates that they've released for fallout four in skyrim have made those games tremendous on handheld uh
4:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I do think we're in a new era where developers need to release 40 FPS modes because 40 FPS fall out for on handheld is actually really badass and pretty impressive.
4:28
[SPEAKER_01]: So I've been playing that.
4:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Pokemon Poco Pia has a brand new expansion that came out where you can go underwater, go to a new island and there's a hundred new Pokemon.
4:36
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'll be making a podcast episode about that about 10 hours in.
4:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Halo campaign evolved.
4:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm still playing it.
4:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I played it today with a new update where they got rid of chromatic of a variation and film green.
4:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So it looks a little bit more like the original and it definitely is a good update.
4:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Waiting to see what happens with that Alex put two thumbs down.
4:58
[SPEAKER_01]: These PR campaigns are not going to get them.
5:00
[SPEAKER_02]: I was starting to believe the prop began to
5:04
[SPEAKER_01]: But to say it dude, so I was actually playing the campaign remix, which allows like Hunters to be at the beginning of your mission and flood to be chasing you and I put it on the prequel missions because I I wanted to replay them a different enemies and the second she starts talking like it is really tough, man It's such a shame too because the missions look beautiful besides a couple kill rooms that they're constantly throwing at you and Yeah, what a the more I look into it the more I see videos of it.
5:32
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just
5:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Such a ridiculous mistake on their end.
5:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, they literally could have thrown like buck in there.
5:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And I mean, they would have gotten so much praise.
5:43
[SPEAKER_01]: They could have thrown dare in there of all people like
5:46
[SPEAKER_02]: It's kind of a regular ODST and they're without the sass, like, oh man, Chief, let's team up and he's just bad ass, like he's like a meal without the Spartan armor because they always made it always happen about the history of ODS season Spartan's hating each other and it's like, well, it's a year away from combat evolved and reach.
6:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't think it needs to be that deep.
6:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we could just like,
6:10
[SPEAKER_01]: you know as so many mainstream fans that are playing this don't even know that lore they could have just done a regular odst so yeah or pages from the book for pages more pages explaining that lore uh definitely didn't need to dive into that um and then also there's a top gun update that just came out for battlefield that looks actually really really good i haven't played it but uh that game's a lot of fun to play
6:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And so many others.
6:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't even keep going.
6:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just going to leave it at that, but yeah, so that's what games we're playing as of what we're excited about.
6:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, I think like one of the biggest things we're going to dive into today throughout the podcast, again, is Runescape Dragon Wilds.
6:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the trailer I saw today kind of announcing it coming to Game Pass for the 1.0 release.
6:57
[SPEAKER_01]: It reminds me a lot of
6:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Which is probably like Valheim of course, but for me, kind of games that are more a little bit more grounded from what I can see, which is like fallout 76, a game that was terrible when it came out, but if you played it today, it looks a lot more in line for a lot of these kind of like survival have fun play with other games and I think Dragon Wildes is honestly impressive the way it looks I'm played it.
7:20
[SPEAKER_01]: so the jury's out on gameplay, but I can tell you from visuals that I'm really impressed with this game, and I think it's going to be fun for me as a huge ruin-scape fan, but who just kind of wants to play in the universe, but not necessarily the grind, even though the grind can be fun, there's no doubt about it, and we'll dive into that with Alex.
7:40
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so that's probably the game I'm most excited for right now, and then Godzilla destroy all monsters melee coming out in November as
7:50
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a great year for gaming, honestly, probably one of the best years I've had in a decade for gaming.
7:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Alex is, you know, let's take this opportunity to talk about Valheim before we dive into Elder Scrolls and then full-on ruins came from there.
8:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Valheim's coming out, what's got its full 1.0 release, how excited are you for this update?
8:11
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm so excited to play it again, you know, it's going in the deep north, so it's their last biome, and it's taken years for them, but you know, you got to give props where props are doing, I mean, it's like one of the best survival games on the market, and I think it's only.
8:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Correct me if I'm wrong, but back in the day, I was like 20 bucks, but it's probably there to now.
8:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's just still affordable though.
8:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but it's it's great.
8:41
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean you multiple playthroughs.
8:43
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean the world's always different.
8:46
[SPEAKER_02]: And you know when the new biomes were coming out, we would always restart.
8:51
[SPEAKER_02]: So we're going to restart again and try to get as many people because you can have.
8:55
[SPEAKER_02]: They can ten or twelve people on a server at the same time.
8:59
[SPEAKER_02]: And our friend Justin, he's going to run a server, so we're going to start back from the bottom up again.
9:07
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know if I'll make the cut, but I'm definitely excited to try the game out.
9:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Because like I said, I'm pretty sure it's still on game pass.
9:13
[SPEAKER_01]: But honestly, even if it's not, I'll pick it up because I think the game does look cool.
9:18
[SPEAKER_01]: In fact, actually the graphics when I first played it.
9:21
[SPEAKER_01]: uh, give me like a ruined escape vibe of all things.
9:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, which I think was like kind of their angle.
9:27
[SPEAKER_01]: It was just like to really have fun with that kind of art style and I think they nailed it.
9:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so yeah, I'm excited to play it with someone who actually knows what the hell they're doing.
9:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, those kind of games are like really tough for me.
9:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I think, again, I already brought it up, but I think like Fallout 76 is so bare bones compared of like, you know, what you could probably do in Valheim and, you know, rust and, uh, daisy.
9:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Some of these other games where you can kind of build your bases and stuff.
9:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So I'm, I'm really excited to check it out.
9:52
[SPEAKER_01]: And then, um, I know another game that we are excited about, whether you are not,
9:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I know deep down in that soul of yours.
10:00
[SPEAKER_01]: You want to praise Todd.
10:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want Todd to be happy?
10:03
[SPEAKER_01]: And that is our Lord and Savior of Todd Howard.
10:06
[SPEAKER_01]: As we talk about real quick, Elder Scroll Six, most likely Sentinel, based off the eight asterix that Osha Sharma tweeted the other day, saying that she was playing the game and she left that in her caption.
10:17
[SPEAKER_01]: Saying that the game is looking good, but there's no doubt about it.
10:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we're years away from this game.
10:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I know Todd wants that shadow drop, but I don't think she's gonna do it.
10:27
[SPEAKER_01]: if it's sentinel obviously it's in hammer fell i mean what are your thoughts on this Alex i mean i know skyrim was really bare bones compared to oblivion and obviously the god game for you a more wind it's uh it's such a breakdown from its formula but do you think that there's going to be any of the roots that come back with sentinel i'm assuming that's what it is i mean i feel like it's pretty spot on but i feel like any of that's going to return
10:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
10:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you got to look at it.
10:50
[SPEAKER_02]: They're going back to the roots because Hammerfell was in Daggerfall, which is more immersive than Marlund.
11:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And you thought Marlund's like,
11:05
[SPEAKER_02]: you know, one of the best dagger falls up there, too.
11:10
[SPEAKER_02]: So they're thinking it's going to be high rock, which is the Britons, and then, you know, hammer, hammer fell.
11:16
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a lot of the Elder Scrolls, too, dagger fall.
11:20
[SPEAKER_02]: So we might see, you know, them kind of go back to their roots.
11:24
[SPEAKER_02]: And I hope they do.
11:26
[SPEAKER_02]: you know, instead of, you know, like, AI slot, you know, grab thing from here, turn it in there and what, like, no writing, guys like, oh, lost my horseshoe and, you know, randomly generated cave.
11:42
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, definitely.
11:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm, I'm hoping that, you know, someone who,
11:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, we've already talked about it countless times, but yeah, I've only played Moroind as a kid for a little bit, like literally less than an hour, and then obviously I've tried with you, even on stream, getting like the boots of swiftness or whatever it is, I can't do it, but Oblivion always felt like a solid middle ground based off your review of Moroind and how much I love Oblivion in Skyrim.
12:09
[SPEAKER_01]: I felt like Oblivion was still like a nice solid middle ground, and I think they know that too for a general audience and a hardcore audience.
12:17
[SPEAKER_01]: So I hope that they're able to find, find tune that line between both play styles because I think that this game is so crucial for taking 15 plus years to get to that both fan groups are going to be accommodated because I think that's so important and I really hope that's true.
12:35
[SPEAKER_02]: well i think it was more of a wake up call because like you saw like people playing oblivion like in in the comments they're like wow this is like so much more better than skyran like you saw it in the comments and i know Todd probably was doom scroll and late at night kind of cry and like well
12:52
[SPEAKER_02]: We're gonna have to re-release this 10 more times before new one comes out and then a meal is like all not as you know bottle whiskey and drink and You're gonna compete with You know oblivion style writing
13:09
[SPEAKER_01]: There's no doubt about it when you play a Bolivian, it's got a lot better writing.
13:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's world is more engaging.
13:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I still love the shit out of Skyrim, but there's no doubt about it.
13:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Bolivian is just a better game, narratively.
13:23
[SPEAKER_01]: There's more punch to it.
13:25
[SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like Skyrim is like a blockbuster movie where a Bolivian was like, Lord the Rings, you know, and it's just like, it's two different franchises, almost.
13:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And in the sense of depth,
13:36
[SPEAKER_01]: But Skyrim's still fun.
13:39
[SPEAKER_02]: So, oh, Skyrim's great.
13:40
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just a downgrade, which for like story and everything.
13:44
[SPEAKER_01]: So, no, 100% even like gameplay in some respects, you know, in oblivion, you can do different power attacks with your one-handed weapons, paralyzed, disarm, cut their heads off.
13:54
[SPEAKER_01]: And they do have some of those perks in the very, very simplified perk tree in Skyrim, but it doesn't match it at all.
14:01
[SPEAKER_01]: The only thing Skyrim did better, which we constantly joke about is just being a stealth
14:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So other than that, almost everything got dumbed down in the game.
14:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just kind of unfortunate.
14:15
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so I'm excited to see what happens with this.
14:17
[SPEAKER_01]: If Elder Scrolls Sentinel is the truth, I mean, people have, you know, discovered that and kind of made some connections.
14:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I know a lot of conversation too is around a book that you can find from the OG writer.
14:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Who said something about Sentinel.
14:32
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like a whole video I can send you about from Mr. Maddie plays where he Condensed it and but basically there's a book that this guy wrote a true developer wrote it Obviously and put it in Skyrim itself right and has something to do with like The out the out the very dominion the fucking high elves or whatever.
14:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, the foul more.
14:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Excuse me the foul more
14:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And it seemed like that war really didn't stop when it came to Ceridil.
14:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So it is interesting, I'm sorry, the empire.
15:00
[SPEAKER_01]: So it is interesting to see, essentially the fallout of...
15:04
[SPEAKER_01]: basically that war skyrim and just everything that's happened with a thoumore who are definitely scheming little bastards.
15:12
[SPEAKER_01]: So I would like to see like the repercussions of the dragonborn too.
15:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know how much they're going to follow that, but it would be cool to get some kind of, like what is the world look like afterwards kind of thing.
15:24
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's going to be a steep curve.
15:27
[SPEAKER_02]: What's that?
15:28
[SPEAKER_02]: it's going to be steep curve for them to really pull it off.
15:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I think so.
15:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, just like the curve swords.
15:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Just like this game at Tars.
15:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, he was from Hamilton.
15:41
[SPEAKER_02]: They got some swords.
15:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Good, good, so good.
15:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, but yeah, so that's our Elder Scrolls part of the podcast, uh, the last thing that we're excited for, and I totally forgot that's mentioned it, so I apologize.
15:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I did, I played the beta.
15:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I absolutely love it.
15:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I think hard siege in the campaign are worth the game alone.
16:00
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, we got gears of war, E-Day, a prequel to the original game coming out October 6, and October 1st for pre-mondition holders.
16:08
[SPEAKER_01]: If you have game pass, you can actually get it for, I think, 20 or 30 bucks.
16:12
[SPEAKER_01]: That's what I did.
16:13
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, man, I'm excited as fuck to play this.
16:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the Horde Siege mode alone is worth the price of a mission.
16:20
[SPEAKER_01]: I know you haven't played yet.
16:22
[SPEAKER_01]: You're a computer my blow up if you try to.
16:24
[SPEAKER_01]: But the game looks good.
16:26
[SPEAKER_01]: The game looks really good.
16:28
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, I'll have to give it a go and try it.
16:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I'll see you have the PC specs handle it.
16:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Honestly, if you're in it, it's good.
16:36
[SPEAKER_01]: You could just play it on the cloud.
16:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you've played cloud gaming in the last year, but honestly, the X cloud has been pretty impressive on how they've got it to work so well.
16:45
[SPEAKER_01]: If you have a good connection, it plays just fine.
16:47
[SPEAKER_01]: The latency is really low.
16:49
[SPEAKER_01]: So you can also play it that way.
16:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Even if you just wanted to test it out, just to see it for two seconds.
16:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I highly recommend that, too.
16:55
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Alex kind of.
16:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Take us away with the jaggets, jaggets, ruined scape situation, and how we really would like to start off by giving massive props to this incredible new CEO, they got.
17:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, CEO and the team, I mean, the CEO really, let's, you know, the OSRS and Runescape 3 team and the Runescape Dragon Wilds team kind of like do their thing, but like, you know, with Runescape Dragon Wilds, he's like all skills need to go to 99 and there needs to be lumberage castle at the start, so they implemented that into the game.
17:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Cool.
17:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I was wondering if they were going to do that.
17:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so he's really focused on the game.
17:37
[SPEAKER_02]: He's grown up playing the game.
17:39
[SPEAKER_02]: He was a mod before he became CEO then he left and he was doing like mobile cash games.
17:46
[SPEAKER_02]: He was working for and then he came back as Runescape CEO.
17:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, and a lot of people were worried that, you know, it's going to be more monetization and more, um, you know, cash grabs in OSRS and, uh, Runescape 3, but he's completely done the opposite.
18:06
[SPEAKER_02]: So he's, he's very anti, um, micro-transactions and he's trying to get everybody on the right path.
18:22
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's him in the board.
18:26
[SPEAKER_02]: He convinced the board to push over 200 million pounds into all three games.
18:35
[SPEAKER_02]: So split amongst the games.
18:37
[SPEAKER_02]: That's the investment.
18:39
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, that's 272 million United States dollars that they're investing in endurance games.
18:46
[SPEAKER_02]: a lot of money.
18:48
[SPEAKER_02]: And with them taking away microtransactions, um, that were paid a play for RS3, that cut their revenue by 20% that day.
19:02
[SPEAKER_02]: And the board is backing him.
19:04
[SPEAKER_02]: So, um, what he said in the podcast is that he has a bunch of teams following from the heart.
19:12
[SPEAKER_02]: not from a spreadsheet.
19:15
[SPEAKER_02]: So they can look at numbers all day and play by the numbers.
19:19
[SPEAKER_02]: And he said, you know, that's great.
19:21
[SPEAKER_02]: But like, you know, you start to see the decline.
19:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And since they got rid of micro transactions, their subscription base has finally stabilized after five years.
19:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, and my dude, he only came in, uh, in March, 2025.
19:41
[SPEAKER_02]: So this was a little over a year ago.
19:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
19:45
[SPEAKER_02]: So that much change in that amount of time is absolutely amazing.
19:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but he said, yeah, if you follow the numbers, you make a boring, and boring game, and nobody's going to be really engaged by it.
20:00
[SPEAKER_02]: So he's trying to do the opposite of that.
20:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
20:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, that's pretty sick, man.
20:07
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, to go from like his history to where he's at now, you know, obviously time will tell no matter what and words are great, but the continuous actions are truly what prove everything.
20:18
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think that M being so gun-ho for this and showing a lot of passion and accountability really gets the board behind him.
20:26
[SPEAKER_01]: And I hope it continues to pay off.
20:28
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, Rune's keeps got a really good fan base.
20:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure it's toxic too, like everything else, but it seems like a really good, die-hard fans that just want the most from their subscription, and I think that's a great way to get people's money.
20:41
[SPEAKER_01]: It was back in the day.
20:43
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I'm not saying that they were rich, you know, back in 2005 and six and seven when we were playing as kids, but we did pay for subscriptions and, you know, and that's all they had.
20:52
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have bonds.
20:53
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have micro-transactions.
20:54
[SPEAKER_01]: They didn't have any of that, and they were still surviving.
20:57
[SPEAKER_01]: So if you can
20:59
[SPEAKER_01]: and you can accommodate for it with your workforce.
21:04
[SPEAKER_01]: You got to go back to basics and I think that that's a really smart way to do it because if the economy is that bad around the world, right?
21:10
[SPEAKER_01]: If people don't have money, then they're going to commit to your game because of how much they love it.
21:14
[SPEAKER_01]: They're going to make sure that they can get your subscription and that they're happy with the content you provide.
21:19
[SPEAKER_01]: We are in a era now for the last
21:24
[SPEAKER_01]: 8 to almost 10 years where people just want to play their favorite live service game people want to play the same game constantly because they're being updated, which is cool.
21:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't disagree with it.
21:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Like I wish certain games were better than they were at launch and after were so they could still be live service games today.
21:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think Rune skips a really good example of that.
21:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And kind of one of those examples that I think we can briefly touch on, which I don't think is too far off the beaten path of what we want to talk about today, was the latest update with the cursed blood moon or the blood moon rises?
21:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
21:58
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, for instance, Alex sent me the video of the boss fight from the quest.
22:02
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was, I haven't played Runescape.
22:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Like the last quest I did was monkey madness.
22:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't even remember when that was.
22:08
[SPEAKER_01]: It was on my phone.
22:08
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was working.
22:10
[SPEAKER_01]: And seeing like the boss fight in this quest was really sick.
22:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, you didn't even had animations I hadn't seen before.
22:17
[SPEAKER_01]: And it really felt cinematic, it felt engaging.
22:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, oh, shit, like it's not just click your pot.
22:25
[SPEAKER_01]: Click on the enemy, you know, click on this.
22:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it is that, but they made it so much more fun and engaging visually that I think it's really impressive.
22:33
[SPEAKER_01]: But Alex, you kind of want to touch on that real quick.
22:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, they're building this game around like, you know, the tick method.
22:40
[SPEAKER_02]: So each in game tick, you know, it's an internal clock on the on the game.
22:46
[SPEAKER_02]: So they're really building around that and around, you know, up in the skill.
22:52
[SPEAKER_02]: So like you get to do multiple clicks and, you know, switch your prayers and everything it's.
22:58
[SPEAKER_02]: it's much more intense than, you know, you go and after a missile demon's back and, you know, 2007, 2008 and you know, hits you, you hit it or like even in the fight caves like, you know, when you're fighting Chad, he had to switch between range and prayer or a range and magic protection.
23:23
[SPEAKER_02]: on his hits, and it's much more intensive than that, like you've got to be switching combat styles and everything, it's absolutely crazy.
23:34
[SPEAKER_02]: And another thing is, like, just talk about Magnorth on one last thing, the community really loves them.
23:42
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, like, in a podcast, I was just listening to another day, can you do what the prices of nature ruins were on the G.E.
23:51
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, you know, if if bots are, you know, there's too many going in or the prices of nature ruins are going too high, you know, I don't want bots fixing that.
24:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I want to fix that, so we create something that drives down the price, but not too much, you know.
24:08
[SPEAKER_02]: It's absolutely crazy like how invested he is in this game and he's really letting his team on old school Rinscape, you know, make all these quests and create awesome new experiences for everybody.
24:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, that's pretty amazing.
24:25
[SPEAKER_01]: And just awesome shout out to him.
24:27
[SPEAKER_01]: It really is great to see someone show so much love and care for a franchise.
24:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Obviously that they've been a part of forever.
24:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you know, I might have to let you talk here for a little bit as crazy.
24:41
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I mean, I can talk about the bots he's going after.
24:44
[SPEAKER_02]: So he's literally creating a crusade on bots.
24:48
[SPEAKER_02]: So since January,
24:52
[SPEAKER_02]: They've banned 6.2 million bots between OSRS and Runescape 3 and taken over 8 trillion gold out of the economy of boughted and live sold gold.
25:10
[SPEAKER_02]: uh... real world traded gold eight trillion that's crazy how many de-skimming uh... scams can you fall for that uh... but he's sending people in so he's he sent out or jag x has sent out a bunch of season to says to a bunch of body curators or block creators uh... send it out season to assist a bunch of people um... they're
25:38
[SPEAKER_02]: the mod team is infiltrating body and communities to find out their scripts and take them down that way so they can better improve their scripts to auto-detect it and just push and then real role traders are getting knocked out like basically like if you go to the body and subreddit
26:08
[SPEAKER_02]: looking sad, and kicking the rock down the street, um, they're very, they're very upset with them.
26:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And he's like, in a podcast, he's like, there's nothing more joyful in the morning when I'm, you know, sipping my tea because he's British, um, looking at people crying on Reddit.
26:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And how I made their life miserable because they can't bought anymore.
26:36
[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
26:37
[SPEAKER_01]: But the botting was bad.
26:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember, too, like, when I stopped playing originally, it's like, it only imagined how bad it really is today.
26:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Dude, it's a ghost town.
26:48
[SPEAKER_02]: It's a ghost town now.
26:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody's wanting to buy on runescape because they're so good at banning bots right now.
26:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
26:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
26:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you go to, like, you know, the mines at Verroc.
27:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
27:01
[SPEAKER_02]: There's always iron bots there.
27:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Nobody there.
27:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe a little skiller, but no bot.
27:10
[SPEAKER_02]: No bald.
27:12
[SPEAKER_02]: The bald head, tan shirt, green pants, green pants.
27:18
[SPEAKER_02]: None of those anymore.
27:21
[SPEAKER_02]: The biggest one I find is an only fan's bot that shouts out one name.
27:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Still a pug.
27:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Really?
27:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, but everybody just mass reports on, then, you know, that's good though.
27:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's great game where the game like this was such a nice live economy.
27:41
[SPEAKER_01]: It's cool that like, scalars can come back and just have fun doing what they want to do.
27:46
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, combat focus players can do what they need to do and have access to reasonable prices at the GE or even just the trade worlds.
27:55
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I remember like when bots weren't ruining everything like you would go on certain worlds like world two or world one and
28:03
[SPEAKER_01]: do trading, and you have trade for hours, make deals for hours, and then go back to doing quests, maybe skilling, maybe combat oriented activities.
28:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's a pretty badass market.
28:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that's what an MMO's all about, but they definitely nailed it with their game.
28:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, with the bots, like, so the great exchange is basically a stock market for everything, just in case somebody doesn't know.
28:32
[SPEAKER_02]: you're seeing prices go up because there's no bots putting all that in there and then skills you know people who just like skilling they don't really like player versus monsters or PvP player versus player and you're seeing like everything kind of go up but
28:51
[SPEAKER_02]: those skills are actually making more money for the you know they're making supplies for the pf pvmers and pvpers and like the the body was so bad before they were able to create scripts to do the newest raids so like you'd get a high class item like a twisted bow which is still like 1.4 billion
29:14
[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, they're not putting that in that economy, so like if you're doing raids and you're really good at raids and you're going to twist it though, it's so much at a higher threshold.
29:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Then it was before.
29:27
[SPEAKER_02]: It feels like a good reward because there's not so many being flooded in the market from bots.
29:36
[SPEAKER_01]: That's pretty sick, man.
29:37
[SPEAKER_01]: It's nice to hear.
29:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I guess that's one of the things that you wanted to kind of talk about is
29:43
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, modern arts goal is to get 1% left of bots or even none at all.
29:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that that can actually be accomplished?
29:52
[SPEAKER_02]: No, and he's even, you know, realistic.
29:55
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, I wish I could, you know, ban every bot and like, have it zero percent.
30:01
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like, that's never gonna change.
30:02
[SPEAKER_02]: Things are gonna change.
30:04
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, with AI, like, there are already sending in like scripts, you know, act in like a real person to repeal the ban, saying, you know, line to them.
30:18
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's hard to tell, now, I mean, I don't feel, or I feel bad for like the RuneScape team and then, you know, there is people who get caught in the crossfire and they get false banned and, you know, they got to go through the peel process, but like, you know, has the time is it, is it true?
30:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Were you using a script?
30:40
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, the game's pretty freaking easy.
30:43
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't need a auto clicker or anything.
30:46
[SPEAKER_02]: You're just cheating at that point.
30:47
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they got a whole plugin called Rune Light.
30:51
[SPEAKER_02]: And like, you know, quest helper and all that.
30:53
[SPEAKER_02]: And it gives you everything.
30:55
[SPEAKER_02]: Like it gives you like lines where to go for puzzles and everything.
30:58
[SPEAKER_02]: You don't even have to think.
30:59
[SPEAKER_02]: You can just be like watching YouTube and doing quests.
31:02
[SPEAKER_02]: It's super easy now.
31:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Everything's really good in the game.
31:09
[SPEAKER_02]: right now.
31:09
[SPEAKER_02]: They're only improving it.
31:12
[SPEAKER_01]: I think so that was kind of like one of the things we're talking about before we hit record and one of the things that we touched on in our last podcast so many years ago about how like you like ruined skate you always loved it as a kid definitely loved your experiences with your friends but now you've kind of gone hardcore mode on it for the time being until about how much likely you know what's your kind of your opinion of your experience
31:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, it's been great.
31:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, I stopped in about I want to say 2020 or 2021.
31:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, you know, one thing room light.
31:52
[SPEAKER_02]: It's super helpful client like there's a bunch of external, but it's basically like, um,
31:58
[SPEAKER_02]: mods or runescape that make your game more enjoyable so like you know if you're doing it in a mini game you can download a plugin to like you know help you better to click you know there's for like doing fight caves to get the fire cape for jad like you can have like all the spawners where like prediction where things are going to you know line up it helps you but it doesn't hold your hold your hand.
32:26
[SPEAKER_02]: And then they're doing these things called summer sweep ups and they're changing skills.
32:34
[SPEAKER_02]: They're updating mini games, so it's more user-friendly.
32:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, I quit because blast mining was so annoying back in the day when I was trying to get 99 mining.
32:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and when I came back I was like, oh, they changed it.
32:51
[SPEAKER_02]: I can do more.
32:52
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm getting more experience.
32:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not that much more.
32:55
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you know, five or 10 K more an hour.
32:59
[SPEAKER_02]: But it was like such a quality of life update that I was able to look more to you.
33:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
33:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
33:07
[SPEAKER_02]: And like I was listening to the other podcasts and you know, I was talking about, yeah, I did like 8,000 dynamite through the blast mine.
33:17
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, I did that in a day.
33:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh my god, that's crazy.
33:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
33:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, I was no life in because I had an injury on my hand and I was zoned out on hydros, but besides that, it was a lot.
33:34
[SPEAKER_01]: That aside, yeah, that is, uh, that is pretty crazy man.
33:39
[SPEAKER_01]: How?
33:40
[SPEAKER_01]: you know obviously because of an accident which does suck um you kind of come back and got so many 99s I mean how many 99s do you think you have now uh almost all I'm working on fire making now so this will be my fifth one got it since May which takes some people a really long time by the way yeah way longer
34:06
[SPEAKER_02]: um... now is it slowing down for you at all like the fun or you still kind of enjoying it uh... i'm enjoying it i almost got my quest cape i got five five quest to do and then an autumn or in
34:20
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, probably in November, they're releasing a new quest that falls the Fremnic quest line.
34:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, um, called the graveyard.
34:29
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's going to be exciting.
34:31
[SPEAKER_02]: But, you know, they got six quests to do.
34:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, still need to get my fire cape.
34:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I tried that last night, but I fucked up my bare flick.
34:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, no.
34:43
[SPEAKER_02]: Yep.
34:44
[SPEAKER_02]: So.
34:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you know, I got a base 70 combat stats, so we're We're getting up there, but I told Justin I was gonna get my max cape before I get my fire cape Let's see if you get the fire cap rate, so is it the lava cape too or something?
35:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's a fire cape now like fire making cape is different.
35:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah, fire cape is from the fight, fight caves got it, which I think Jared has that right.
35:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
35:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
35:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
35:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And then there's the first you did for sure and for an okay, yes, yes.
35:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
35:24
[SPEAKER_01]: And that's from like a super hard version of the fight pit right.
35:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, yeah, you're going to be locked in for sure.
35:34
[SPEAKER_01]: What are your thoughts, obviously you've been playing on the computer, but kind of like looking back at it now, which we did definitely touched on it.
35:41
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm sure in the episode and get I didn't finish the re-listen, but I logged in right now on my phone.
35:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Isn't it still kind of crazy that we could just play this on our phone?
35:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Or did it not really care for that experience?
35:53
[SPEAKER_02]: No, no, I like it.
35:54
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, there's, you know, some things.
35:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not good.
35:57
[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, I don't really like it for like fighting monsters because sometimes, uh, like a glitches, but I'm also using, you know, iPhone, I think 10 or 14.
36:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I'm doing.
36:11
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's, it's pretty old iPhone.
36:14
[SPEAKER_02]: But it runs great.
36:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, a potato can run the roots gate.
36:17
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, you got an old Dell lap or a desktop back in the day on the tube to monitor, you know, ran it just okay.
36:29
[SPEAKER_01]: It didn't do bad.
36:30
[SPEAKER_01]: We made it work, man.
36:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I don't know.
36:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Look at the size of the runescape map versus like from 2007 versus now with sailing.
36:44
[SPEAKER_02]: it's gigantic.
36:47
[SPEAKER_02]: There's so much to do.
36:49
[SPEAKER_02]: And they're trying to go back and fix dead content where like, you know, they're reworking skills that it feels like a runescape.
37:01
[SPEAKER_02]: yeah but you know bringing it up to the age and they're really not focusing on bringing in new players they're focusing on retaining the players obviously they want new players but they're not looking for you know the little kid playing robots they're looking at
37:17
[SPEAKER_02]: people in their 30s who have a job and they modern north explained it you know our best customers are the people playing runescape on one monitor and they're working on their excel spreadsheet at work on the other
37:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, he said, you know, that's, people are skills and, you know, that's what they like.
37:39
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you, you get home or you have a day off and you go to some pvm or pvp, where you have to focus, um, but they're in the day, you know, you're working on your skills.
37:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I do think that's probably the best part of the game, and which kind of helps it stand the test of time currently.
37:57
[SPEAKER_01]: And I did check right now while you were talking.
38:01
[SPEAKER_01]: There's so many places on the map that I've never seen before.
38:04
[SPEAKER_01]: It's huge.
38:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I came back.
38:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Karen was there, the new island they made.
38:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, back when I was playing, I think it came out in 2016.
38:16
[SPEAKER_02]: And then when I came back, I was like, what the hell is Valamor?
38:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, there's a lot of stuff on there.
38:22
[SPEAKER_01]: I've never seen before.
38:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and the quest lines were really good like you know They're fun and engaging and like you know They actually put some hard bosses in there like if I felt like it's like a lower budget Elden ring the best way I can put it
38:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, definitely makes you think and like stay on your toes, um, oh my god, I just lost it.
38:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I was always, I really wanted to come back to Rune Escape really hard for the potential Taming skill, which was basically just going to turn the game into Pokemon.
38:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, um, and then the other one was like, uh, like, druid type stuff of like enchanting your armor and whatnot.
39:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and then this one's sailing and, uh, given the three skills, uh, sounds like you've done sailing a little bit.
39:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think that was the best option?
39:14
[SPEAKER_01]: That's my opinion.
39:15
[SPEAKER_01]: And he's wanted true, but you're opinion, what do you think?
39:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I guess the reason why I ask is like, sailing's cool, like I fucking love the ocean.
39:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I love real, the real life ocean.
39:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I just feel like in terms of engagement and creativity, not caring about what I like.
39:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I just felt like taming seemed a little bit more interesting because I think Rune'scape is really cool with our creature design as even though they're just little polygons.
39:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, they were scared, because it was going to turn into so many, and that was in RuneScape 3.
39:51
[SPEAKER_02]: And, you know, the community's really kind of against, like, what RuneScape 3 is become, okay.
40:03
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that's why they wanted OSRS, you know?
40:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, which is why they're literally not playing it.
40:08
[SPEAKER_02]: But a lot of the stuff from that they've added to OSRS was actually from Runescape 3, you know, they just, you know, made it OSRS, but like, you know, both completely different games.
40:24
[SPEAKER_02]: but felt right for both of them.
40:27
[SPEAKER_02]: So like I've been rises, it's like a quest in R.S.
40:33
[SPEAKER_02]: RuneScape 3.
40:34
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
40:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Like a lot of the music, the one I sent you, the hunted, that was actually a version of RuneScape 3.
40:43
[SPEAKER_02]: And it sounds good, but it sounds like a world of warcraft.
40:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Does it sound like RuneScape?
40:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
40:49
[SPEAKER_01]: That's just, that's true, I didn't.
40:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, that seems like a really good segue, Alex, a really good segue, given the current landscape of like MMOs.
41:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that the two are better at the top that I can think of are definitely World of Warcraft and uh, ruined scape, at least in our group of friends, people that we know, um, even just the general.
41:15
[SPEAKER_01]: gaming culture that I have on whether it's TikTok or Instagram.
41:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I see these two games talked about definitely the most in the MMO world.
41:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you think Runescape on its current trajectory could match World of Warcraft?
41:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I did a bunch of number polls today, so yes.
41:36
[SPEAKER_02]: uh... nice yes yes so world of warcraft doesn't um... produced their subscriber account uh... subscriber account anymore uh... and you got to realize a lot of their uh... accounts are in china too can you uh... can you so roughly for us rs and rs three
42:02
[SPEAKER_02]: combined.
42:03
[SPEAKER_02]: You're looking at roughly around a 150 to 200 k players at all times and peaks around 240 to 300 k per day or like at a peak.
42:18
[SPEAKER_02]: So like a average.
42:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
42:21
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, well, for like Saturday or like weekends, that's the peak.
42:24
[SPEAKER_02]: 240 to 300 k.
42:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Now, wow, has roughly around 300 k players with a peak of 1 million, but here's the thing for RuneScape.
42:38
[SPEAKER_02]: They are not in China or other Asian markets and they just started this year.
42:48
[SPEAKER_02]: to going into this markets because they never thought it was going to do good because they never thought they were going to get their money Python kind of sense of humor with quests and everything, culture differences.
43:05
[SPEAKER_02]: But for runescape dragonwildes when it released,
43:10
[SPEAKER_02]: 41% of all their sales came from China and it's been 20% of sales going on.
43:23
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's a huge market.
43:25
[SPEAKER_02]: So if they open up Runescape in that area, you know, create servers, you know, the skies the world.
43:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they're going to have to do separate, um,
43:39
[SPEAKER_02]: servers and everything.
43:40
[SPEAKER_02]: So like we will I will never interact with the Chinese person just because the Chinese government and everything and the same thing as World Warcraft.
43:48
[SPEAKER_02]: You can't play on Chinese servers just because they have their set of rules.
43:54
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, it's it's how it is over there.
44:08
[SPEAKER_02]: That's a lot.
44:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
44:11
[SPEAKER_01]: But that's a good way to drag, you know, not drag them, but get them to come to OSRS2s by creating those servers and maybe doing like cross-promotional content, not micro-transactions, but like, hey, like connect to your account that you have, your Jagax account.
44:25
[SPEAKER_01]: from Dragon Wildes to OSRS, and you can earn maybe the classic looking Med Helm Pack in Dragon Wildes or something because that's like part of the deluxe edition, which I think is really cool.
44:40
[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll touch on that later.
44:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, I think there's definitely avenues they can go to take advantage of that percentage because that percentage is far from light if
44:47
[SPEAKER_01]: If people aren't looking at business analytics for their job, I'm telling you right now, firsthand, even 20% is something to be losing your mind over.
44:56
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, that's a huge market that's untapped.
45:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, even like the Pokemon trading card company made it simplified Chinese set that exclusively releases in China and it's taken off.
45:08
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, definitely a huge market out there and I hope it all works out for them.
45:13
[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, it sounds like they definitely have the potential to take over where the workcraft is just how we got here.
45:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And, at least, just keep giving them run for their money, because at the end of the day, that's all good.
45:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Competition breeds creativity, and I think that where the workcraft fans are probably excited for new content as well.
45:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, well, you know, it all depends on what world of warcraft is going to do next and blizzard, you know, everybody's banking on classic plus and, you know, if they failed to deliver, I mean, modern arts already talked about it.
45:47
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like we're already on the track to become the number one.
45:51
[SPEAKER_02]: So he's like we're number two.
45:53
[SPEAKER_02]: in all charts for MMOs on steam there in the top 10 all the time of most concurrent players which is below counter strike and everything right that's that's crazy for for steam is very close up there
46:13
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, I think they have a chance and a lot of our already World Warcraft players.
46:21
[SPEAKER_02]: He calls it the World Warcraft refugee crisis because they're, you know, going over to OSRS and other games because they're tired of blizzard mucking it up.
46:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And
46:37
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, if they failed to deliver on classic plus, it's it's going to be the death of a lot of their fan base.
46:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
46:48
[SPEAKER_02]: So, you know, and you know, I don't think, well, I'm sure mod north wants them to fail, but he, I think he's like wanting the gaming industry to like, you know, real back.
47:02
[SPEAKER_01]: their money grab and hands and like you know focus on your games yeah yeah well speaking of kind of modern north here again and kind of comes up here at the end of that conversation which I think is great is you know you're talking about like what he thinks the shortfalls are of ruinscape and what they can do moving forward that would really benefit them in the player base and kind of that retention rate too of their long lasting players.
47:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so he said in the interview that his the shortfalls is players trying to think of the word he said.
47:48
[SPEAKER_02]: just the account side, so like somebody gets banned or helping out players, you know, that each said that system needs it overhauling and they're extremely looking into it after one of the mods who just had a baby comes back to work.
48:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, so that you like you being going on my account after I was just on it from a different IP address, or what is that?
48:13
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so like somebody reach it out.
48:15
[SPEAKER_02]: So like, you know, right now you reach out and there's only real life people.
48:23
[SPEAKER_02]: Here a certain time of day, which is like the UK and forget what time as he said, but then the other other half is AI.
48:32
[SPEAKER_02]: So like you won't get a real person.
48:34
[SPEAKER_02]: So he's like wants to overhaul all this.
48:36
[SPEAKER_02]: So like somebody puts in a ticket saying, you know,
48:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I lost so-and-so because of their server rollback or whatever, you know, he said that's not there to help right now.
48:49
[SPEAKER_02]: You need to think he wants to fix that.
48:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
48:53
[SPEAKER_02]: And so like players reach you now, that's like their biggest downfall right now.
48:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Right, literally better customer service.
49:00
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and then helping players help him with questions and everything, you know, you kind of want to bring it back to like, you know, when you used to be able to call Nintendo on talking about a quest and they would help you out through it.
49:15
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that kind of love in the community.
49:18
[SPEAKER_02]: That's what he's going back for.
49:20
[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy that you could call back in the day on Legend of Zelda.
49:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Ocarina time and they would literally tell you how to get unstuck.
49:27
[SPEAKER_01]: It's crazy.
49:28
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that was over your phone, you know, now they're going to just like hop on to whatever you're doing.
49:34
[SPEAKER_02]: It was like a serious screen.
49:35
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
49:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
49:38
[SPEAKER_02]: And the power curve.
49:39
[SPEAKER_02]: So so the other thing he's concerned about is the power curve.
49:44
[SPEAKER_02]: So they got a new raid end game raid coming out called the fractured archive and that's coming out towards the later end of fall, they call on him.
50:00
[SPEAKER_02]: So he's focused on like so do we keep on doing raids and so like Chambers of Zerix, the first raid that came out in like 2016.
50:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you know, the twisted bow is still the best in slot weapon for range.
50:18
[SPEAKER_02]: He's like do you like keep it that way or do you like create something new even more powerful?
50:24
[SPEAKER_02]: you know that's like the power dilemma because you got you got to think of PVM and you know obviously you can just keep on making bosses more powerful new mechanics and everything but you get you also have to think about PVP where you know it's just going to keep on messing up the whole whole system.
50:46
[SPEAKER_01]: See the PM.
50:48
[SPEAKER_01]: True.
50:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think
50:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I think that's a very tough position to be in when you have a weapon that's almost 10 or I don't think the Twisted Bow is only 10 years old is it?
50:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I think or was that the rate it was introduced?
51:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it was about 10 years old, 10 years old.
51:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
51:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think when a weapon's like 10 years plus of being the best in the game I think you can definitely rival it and I think that's a good way to go about it though It's like you create a weapon that's either just as good or only slightly better that the people who've worked really hard to get the Twisted Bow because it's so sought after
51:21
[SPEAKER_01]: you know, being the best in slot range item, then I think that's a good way to go.
51:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Because it gives those players already have the twisted bow.
51:29
[SPEAKER_01]: A brand new challenge is very exhilarating for them, but people who are also like, I want both, or I want the brand new one, that option as well.
51:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a hard decision, but I think honestly, that's the best middle ground you can possibly have.
51:45
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, and I think the communities like already like, you know, make changes in the game, make it good, just don't make it like RuneScape 3, and yeah, they're starting to realize like the people who've been around since like OSRS came out, yeah, that's actually the minority now.
52:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, they're finding new players from War of the Warcraft, other MMOs that are just like tired of You know, this is a refugee crisis You know, and a lot of them are voting yes, so most of everything's going through the polls passing So let's Do we touch on that in the last episode because that polling system is pretty crazy?
52:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, I don't take so.
52:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe we did.
52:32
[SPEAKER_02]: I can't remember.
52:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, just a refresh for anyone who doesn't know or people who don't know at all.
52:37
[SPEAKER_01]: The best example I can give and Alex can correct it when I'm done is basically that they have a polling system in the game itself where all players can vote on a specific new feature update or just kind of idea that the development team has.
52:50
[SPEAKER_01]: For instance, the sailing, taming, enchanting, the three skills that we're potentially going to be new.
52:58
[SPEAKER_01]: that was going to be the ultimate winner.
53:00
[SPEAKER_01]: The community literally voted on that one skill, which is now sailing.
53:06
[SPEAKER_01]: So there's our polls inside the game and on the website that people can participate in to literally shape the future, which is
53:13
[SPEAKER_01]: future, which is pretty sick.
53:15
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, was there anything I kind of missed out on that?
53:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, where are details?
53:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
53:19
[SPEAKER_02]: So back in the day, like you used to be able to see like how much percentage of people were voting on a certain thing, but they got rid of that.
53:28
[SPEAKER_02]: And I think that helps because it's like FOMO.
53:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
53:32
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, since they got rid of that, a lot of stuff's been passing and you need a 70% to pass.
53:39
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not like, you know, 51%.
53:42
[SPEAKER_02]: We got sailing.
53:43
[SPEAKER_02]: No, it's the vast majority, you know, and less the time, like it's actually like 80 or 90% that's passing in the polls.
53:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Right.
53:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Like it's even higher.
53:52
[SPEAKER_02]: And then you get the people on Reddit just complaining and you know, they are the minority
54:03
[SPEAKER_01]: But do you think there's a world where they go back to taming and kind of like go back to the drawing board to ensure that it doesn't follow suit like summoning and or you need chanting skill that drew it like skill.
54:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't I don't think so.
54:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Maybe maybe you like long down in the future, but like, you know, once they pass a poll.
54:23
[SPEAKER_02]: or like if it fails in the poll, there's like, nope, the community does not want that.
54:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Like that's like them saying no.
54:30
[SPEAKER_02]: So like scrap it to get rid of it.
54:33
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you know, there's no horses in the Rusket because 16 or like, you know, 20 years ago, one of the, um, you know, people lead designers was like, we're not putting horses in.
54:46
[SPEAKER_02]: So they're like, we're following that.
54:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, unfortunately, I think they would break the game in some respects, break the immersion, so to speak, obviously there is teleporting and stuff, but yeah, I think horses in Escape would actually be pretty backwards.
55:01
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, so that's just a quick thing.
55:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm pulling just in case you guys weren't familiar, and I think that is a huge thing that definitely needs to be highlighted.
55:08
[SPEAKER_01]: But we'll kind of, um,
55:11
[SPEAKER_01]: kind of talk about kind of the news of OSRS you mentioned that there's a new update coming later this fall slash autumn depending on what part of the world you're in.
55:21
[SPEAKER_01]: That's coming out with a brand new raid.
55:24
[SPEAKER_01]: We're talking about graveyard quest line for the fremonic aisles.
55:28
[SPEAKER_01]: What else we got coming?
55:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so they're always passing, or they're always creating like new polls for stuff.
55:33
[SPEAKER_02]: So like this last one was bronze man mode.
55:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's going to pass.
55:38
[SPEAKER_02]: So it's not like a Iron Man where like you can't trade with anybody.
55:42
[SPEAKER_02]: You can't use the Grand Exchange and there's not like hardcore where you only have one life but you're an Iron Man and then ultimate Iron Man you can't even use the bank.
55:51
[SPEAKER_02]: On top of that, so they're doing bronze man, where if you unlock an item in the game, you can actually start trading on the GE.
56:01
[SPEAKER_02]: So like you need to get a dragon seminar before you can buy it off the GE.
56:06
[SPEAKER_02]: You need to get in this or before you can buy it off the GE or sell.
56:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it's pretty interesting, you know, a lot of the iron iron men don't like it Because they're calling it the poop man hell hell Because in in game when you start chatting like you see the helmet icon So that like you got iron for the iron
56:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Man, then he got red for the hard core and then he got silver for the ultimate iron man And then there's some firemen and then there's unranked iron men who like choose not to be ranked and That's like a iron slash green helm, but they call it the booger helm
56:54
[SPEAKER_02]: So now now like you know all of the send you to me, but it's like like a person sitting on the ground.
57:01
[SPEAKER_02]: They're just like three iron men just beating them up and it's the poop panel.
57:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you'll have this in it.
57:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, that sounds pretty great.
57:10
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, like you said, that's the current poll.
57:12
[SPEAKER_01]: What else do you got coming up?
57:13
[SPEAKER_01]: What else is coming up?
57:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Dogs.
57:16
[SPEAKER_02]: dog's dogs.
57:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
57:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
57:20
[SPEAKER_01]: That's pretty cool.
57:21
[SPEAKER_01]: So just like a hell cat and shit.
57:24
[SPEAKER_02]: The hell hounds.
57:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, yeah.
57:27
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
57:27
[SPEAKER_02]: So dogs are coming to reenskate.
57:29
[SPEAKER_02]: I think that's going to pass the poll.
57:30
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know if you remember Dursu's cat.
57:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
57:38
[SPEAKER_02]: So you could sell your cat for death roots.
57:42
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh my god.
57:43
[SPEAKER_02]: So now they even added in the poll.
57:46
[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, uh, should you be able to sell your dog for blood runes?
57:51
[SPEAKER_01]: It's freaking awesome.
57:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
57:53
[SPEAKER_02]: So I think that's going to pass.
57:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I think I read everything's going to pass.
57:57
[SPEAKER_02]: I'd like the idea of bronze man.
57:59
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, it's not affecting anything.
58:01
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just right.
58:02
[SPEAKER_01]: It's completely what the extra steps.
58:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah, you know, it's just the Ironman or upset about it, but you know, they have a superior already complex and autism anyway.
58:16
[SPEAKER_01]: So I was gonna say that game of just calling out the autism anyway.
58:20
[SPEAKER_02]: So this tough.
58:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, we were playing a hardcore Ironman.
58:23
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like, you know, you can't do much anymore.
58:27
[SPEAKER_02]: We were doing a group Ironman, but you know, it's like, gosh, kind of miss my main.
58:33
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so I'm going to go back to playing my main.
58:36
[SPEAKER_01]: There you go.
58:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm glad that dogs are coming to the game because that's kind of where I was at with like the Taming like I don't think it needs to be Pokemon by any means.
58:43
[SPEAKER_01]: But I did always think like having a cat in the game was really cool.
58:48
[SPEAKER_01]: I know that if you kill bosses certain times you can actually get a baby version of them like the King Black Dragon for instance.
58:54
[SPEAKER_01]: There's like a Phoenix.
58:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
58:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I just
59:02
[SPEAKER_02]: They'll play World of Workcraft.
59:04
[SPEAKER_01]: Are their game has nothing but pets?
59:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, you know what?
59:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Spam, they have, they have Pokemon.
59:10
[SPEAKER_02]: You can battle.
59:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, can you?
59:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
59:15
[SPEAKER_01]: They actually just released a lot of them.
59:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
59:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm going to be there millions, one subscriber.
59:20
[SPEAKER_01]: There was a game I did want to play that's in the demo.
59:23
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's because it came to this switch, too, which I think is really cool.
59:27
[SPEAKER_01]: Again, the support that consoles getting is crazy.
59:28
[SPEAKER_01]: And I could talk about it all day.
59:30
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a final fantasy 14 online.
59:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you remember when we played monster in the world, but they had the crossover event with the behemoth.
59:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, they put the Wrathalose as a boss fight in that game.
59:41
[SPEAKER_01]: And if you defeat him, you literally get him as a mount.
59:44
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like, should I do that on my switch too?
59:47
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not going to, but I'm not, dude, I can't do it.
59:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, so it's like black desert for me.
59:55
[SPEAKER_02]: I just can't play that game.
59:56
[SPEAKER_02]: It's just too.
59:58
[SPEAKER_01]: It was too weak for me.
59:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I remember when I gave you two to me for me.
1:00:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I thought my character was so hot and I was like, this is a problem.
1:00:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, I would hit my character and I'm like, that's crazy.
1:00:08
[SPEAKER_01]: That's crazy.
1:00:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you know, you need to have like real character expectations, like my character in power.
1:00:17
[SPEAKER_02]: You know, that body proportions, like that, come on.
1:00:22
[SPEAKER_02]: That's realistic.
1:00:23
[SPEAKER_01]: You make the crazy as custom characters.
1:00:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I meant to get a clip from that night to on that stream.
1:00:28
[SPEAKER_01]: And I don't remember what it was.
1:00:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I could probably go back and still get it.
1:00:31
[SPEAKER_01]: But there was something about it.
1:00:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like I missed out on that.
1:00:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, yeah.
1:00:37
[SPEAKER_01]: So ruinscape content coming in 2026.
1:00:40
[SPEAKER_01]: We talked about the polls, we talked about the raid, talked about the new quest line involving the frenic people again, which is really cool.
1:00:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's talk about, you got something on OSRS because it looks like we're moving on the dragon miles in RS3.
1:00:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Then to wrap it up.
1:00:57
[SPEAKER_02]: That's where we move on.
1:00:59
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it looks like you got some news for dragon miles.
1:01:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything that I hadn't said that you're kind of more familiar with?
1:01:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Uh, so let me tell you what I want to know I played the game back in I want to say last year.
1:01:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I bought it and it was pretty bare bones.
1:01:16
[SPEAKER_02]: And then I came back to it.
1:01:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, the other week and I was like.
1:01:21
[SPEAKER_02]: I need to start a new character.
1:01:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know what I'm doing.
1:01:25
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, there's just like so much stuff.
1:01:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, they just released in June Um, the Umberl Sands region, which I don't know if you remember what the calfite queen was.
1:01:36
[SPEAKER_01]: I do.
1:01:36
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:01:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, yeah.
1:01:37
[SPEAKER_02]: So that's that's in there.
1:01:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, that's up to Adam and Tear magic carpet so you can ride your magic carpet around the desert
1:01:45
[SPEAKER_02]: and some of the nightmare crucible animal without that is, but there's a bunch of quests like from OSRs in the game now, like Xanic from the Lost Tribe isn't it, so like she just popped up randomly and I was like, oh, yeah, I really need to restart.
1:02:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Um, but a lot of people on like steam and everything are like, oh, you know, it's all right, but like, you know, and then you read it and it's like a lot of this stuff's actually like hitting and you have to go explore for it and also I tried playing alone and I don't think it's a loan game.
1:02:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I think you got to play with friends to be honest about that made it feel like it needed to be a clip with others.
1:02:31
[SPEAKER_02]: too much upkeep so like you know with any survival game like you can play alone on valheim but like you know the more people you have you know collecting materials like the more faster it goes because it's not much of a chore like everybody has the household chores we can go play basketball when you know well the you know somebody's got a vacuum somebody's got to do the dish somebody's got to you know clean everything
1:02:59
[SPEAKER_02]: But everybody's doing it at once.
1:03:01
[SPEAKER_02]: We can all go play basketball Like within an hour versus one guy does it While the other people are just sleeping, you know, got it playing in five hours Yeah, so and then they just came out with the agility.
1:03:15
[SPEAKER_02]: I tried that out the other night It's fun it reminds me of uh Gosh, I'm trying to it's like crash bandicoot
1:03:28
[SPEAKER_01]: kind of the animation when jumping from platforms 100% looks like that.
1:03:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I locked the double jump and then they released, I think, or revamped some of the magic.
1:03:46
[SPEAKER_02]: I think they added water, and they revamped fire magic, because you can slam your staff into the ground and just create like a frickin' meat, a bunch of meteors, it looks badass.
1:04:02
[SPEAKER_02]: I like it.
1:04:03
[SPEAKER_02]: And then in September, there's the Runeite here coming up.
1:04:07
[SPEAKER_02]: All skills tracks filled to 99.
1:04:12
[SPEAKER_02]: And scorn wilderness raid.
1:04:14
[SPEAKER_02]: So in jads coming to the to the.
1:04:18
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know while the gates are coming, that's the end of the umbrella stands trailer.
1:04:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:04:23
[SPEAKER_01]: So, and even the dragons look so damn cool, man.
1:04:29
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think the game just looks so fun.
1:04:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that God I like it because honestly, from what I'm seeing from gameplay, the graphics, I think the art style actually looks really welcoming.
1:04:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I think we've talked about this on the phone before, how I feel like it was their way of trust trying to find a middle ground of OSRS, RS3, and like make it their own so.
1:04:49
[SPEAKER_01]: And from what I can tell from trailers,
1:04:51
[SPEAKER_01]: I think they find tuned it pretty good.
1:04:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I know the added armor looks sick.
1:04:57
[SPEAKER_01]: The added armor looks really sick.
1:04:59
[SPEAKER_01]: I know they added that recently and then the black knight armor.
1:05:02
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, kind of keeping up with it a little bit when it comes across my feed.
1:05:06
[SPEAKER_02]: But even the first thing I was gonna play it till you got on sale.
1:05:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like I'm I already pre-ordered the physical addition.
1:05:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not even because it comes with like physical stuff like trading cards and stuff.
1:05:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And I was like whatever, I'll just support the cause.
1:05:23
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, man, I'm like really, really looking forward to this game.
1:05:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm not like overhiving it, but I definitely hope that like it's good because I think that them like branching out like this is so damn cool.
1:05:35
[SPEAKER_02]: I think you'll enjoy it.
1:05:37
[SPEAKER_02]: I think you just have to get over the survival hump.
1:05:40
[SPEAKER_02]: I think you don't like survival games just because the survival aspect I don't.
1:05:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:05:47
[SPEAKER_01]: So technically OSRS is survival too, though, if you're doing some combat stuff because of all the prayer potions you have to do all the eating.
1:05:54
[SPEAKER_01]: I know it's not the same exact thing, but I'm sure I can get used to it and just kind of give it a shot instead of just hating it right out the gate.
1:06:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:06:05
[SPEAKER_02]: So, one thing I did look up is the main story takes about 20 to 22 hours to complete.
1:06:14
[SPEAKER_02]: And if, right now, as of right now, it's around 70 to 80 hours to complete everything.
1:06:22
[SPEAKER_01]: It's an amazing amount of content.
1:06:23
[SPEAKER_01]: I got to be honest with you.
1:06:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I feel like that's like the sweet spot.
1:06:26
[SPEAKER_01]: For $30.
1:06:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, damn, dude.
1:06:30
[SPEAKER_01]: My physical deluxe edition is like 70 bucks.
1:06:32
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, you did the deluxe edition.
1:06:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Sorry.
1:06:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I had gilded arm.
1:06:39
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know if you see, have you seen the contents of the deluxe edition?
1:06:42
[SPEAKER_01]: No, I haven't.
1:06:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, let me pull it up for you.
1:06:45
[SPEAKER_01]: So I could tell you, oh my god.
1:06:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're going to hate me for all this because it's all like shit.
1:06:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, oh, Ryan, so basic.
1:06:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Let's see, Jack, a lot of deluxe.
1:06:53
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay.
1:06:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Deluxe edition.
1:06:56
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it comes with a gilded armor.
1:07:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Uh, let's see how you got it right here.
1:07:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so it comes with Gilded Armor that looks sick.
1:07:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha
1:07:33
[SPEAKER_01]: And the digital part of the deluxe edition comes with a gilded armor and cape exclusive craftable armor to wear or display six old school ruin escape inspired helmets low poly helmets are craftable items that you can wear instead of standard helmets of each material tier.
1:07:52
[SPEAKER_01]: So it shows all the way to ruin.
1:07:54
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... for decorative dragon head wall mounts to build in place around your home which is literally black green blue and red which i think is awesome uh... ten exclusive in-game paintings you can place to decorate your home whatever uh... to animated animal decorations uh... the buncher and uh... chin champa each dosing in a bed as an adorable companion waiting at home
1:08:20
[SPEAKER_02]: you're so basic.
1:08:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Beyond basic.
1:08:24
[SPEAKER_01]: This graphic screams basic.
1:08:27
[SPEAKER_01]: The digital part of the deluxe edition.
1:08:30
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, the gilded stuff looks sick.
1:08:31
[SPEAKER_01]: The dragon head mounts sold me and then I saw the OSRS inspired helmets and I'm like, I mean, yeah, it's kind of a no-brainer.
1:08:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:08:41
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, well that's coming, but actually the physical content I'm like really excited for I like the steel books whenever I can get them and then the cards.
1:08:48
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh no, okay, be a bunch.
1:08:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Correct, I still have them all.
1:08:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I love looking at them.
1:08:54
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, the game's 30 bucks.
1:08:58
[SPEAKER_01]: And yeah, it comes out September 15th.
1:09:01
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 as well.
1:09:04
[SPEAKER_01]: So I will actually be buying this twice to support the gun.
1:09:11
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, the deluxe edition isn't available for the switch to that's why I didn't get it on there and then I would have just played the game game pass on Xbox, but I can't do that.
1:09:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, that's uh...
1:09:21
[SPEAKER_02]: it's on steam so I got it on steam.
1:09:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Nice.
1:09:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I think it's cross play, right?
1:09:26
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, yeah, yeah, this is going to be cross play September 15th, but right, it's not currently.
1:09:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, it can't be currently anyways, because it's not available on any other platform right now.
1:09:37
[SPEAKER_02]: So the biggest thing is I think you're going to have is just survival survival survival survival aspect.
1:09:44
[SPEAKER_02]: This is pretty tough.
1:09:45
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, I had to, I was fighting a decimal demon.
1:09:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I was playing it playing it back in the day.
1:09:53
[SPEAKER_02]: Like you're in the swamp and it's like at night.
1:09:55
[SPEAKER_02]: And all I see is just like big red glowing eyes.
1:09:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm like, what the hell is that?
1:10:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I was totally underleveled and he kicked my ass.
1:10:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:10:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I think I'm excited for moments like that, and just fighting a dragon and stuff on a different kind of playing field.
1:10:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Our tree looks good.
1:10:15
[SPEAKER_01]: The magic, the way you describe it sounds really bad ass.
1:10:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I think the fact that the skills, just like the main games, can go to 99, and you can still get the quest capes.
1:10:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I think he's also genius.
1:10:26
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's a great way to bring that what people love the most about these games all together.
1:10:32
[SPEAKER_01]: and make it spin off feel as true as possible to its predecessors, and I think that's a really cool and kind of incentivizing part of the game for me as well.
1:10:42
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll even know if I'll ever get at 99.
1:10:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Once I get past this survival shit, I'm sure I'll love the game because the rest of it does look really, really good.
1:10:49
[SPEAKER_02]: You level up pretty fast and we can probably adjust some settings where we can increase the speed of leveling or something.
1:10:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm sure it's also probably not nearly as hard core as like OSRS and stuff with like grinding and shit.
1:11:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you die and you still lose all you don't lose all your stuff, but it's on your corpse, so you have to run and go grit get it Yeah, you'll find it.
1:11:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, if you died in somewhere tough, then it's like, well, all right.
1:11:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, uh, I didn't like the grinding and everything Um, let's wear power world, I take it in a right, even
1:11:26
[SPEAKER_01]: have slavery.
1:11:31
[SPEAKER_01]: That was the best way to put it.
1:11:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:11:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, regardless, I am pretty damn stoked for this release, and I hope to God I love it.
1:11:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Because I can play it all the way through.
1:11:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I honestly think I'll be fine, man.
1:11:45
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't really see myself not playing it all the way through.
1:11:47
[SPEAKER_01]: This is a game I've...
1:11:50
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, we're quite in our jobs and streaming this.
1:11:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I might take some days off for it, to be honest with you.
1:11:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I might take like a day off, literally just like the first day.
1:12:01
[SPEAKER_02]: I might get the black love.
1:12:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm hoping there's no server issues day one, because this is an online game.
1:12:07
[SPEAKER_01]: So that'd be kind of a bummer.
1:12:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what's the 15th?
1:12:10
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, I had that day off.
1:12:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Perfect.
1:12:12
[SPEAKER_01]: What day is that?
1:12:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Tuesday.
1:12:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Tuesday, right?
1:12:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know.
1:12:17
[SPEAKER_01]: I'll probably take that day off, I guess.
1:12:19
[SPEAKER_01]: We'll see.
1:12:20
[SPEAKER_01]: probably shouldn't take days off just to do it to stream, but streaming Halo to like 400 people was pretty bad ass.
1:12:28
[SPEAKER_01]: So, getting to play these games early.
1:12:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, this game has more content than Halo.
1:12:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Got it, $30.
1:12:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Oof.
1:12:40
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's no PR campaigns.
1:12:44
[SPEAKER_02]: Better multiplayer.
1:12:47
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, there is no multiplayer in Halo.
1:12:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, big mistake.
1:12:53
[SPEAKER_01]: One of the last things you had on here, which I was kind of curious to hear you talk about.
1:12:58
[SPEAKER_01]: Dragon Wilds comes out September 15th, by the way, on all platforms.
1:13:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Please check it out if you've very played it and you like it, or you don't like it, let me know.
1:13:07
[SPEAKER_01]: But the last thing we got here is RS3.
1:13:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Should you try it again and play it?
1:13:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Is that just something you're curious about because it's been so long since you've probably seen it to see the cash show that it is or you actually like generally curious because like, oh, it might actually be fun, who knows?
1:13:23
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm generally curious because mod Norse was talking about it in a podcast and you know, he's saying, just try it out.
1:13:35
[SPEAKER_02]: walk to port serum you'll be blown away.
1:13:40
[SPEAKER_02]: And I was like, well, you know, might as well just hop on a free world and try it out.
1:13:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Just see how it looks.
1:13:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, can't hurt.
1:13:52
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it ruinscape 3 actually?
1:14:00
[SPEAKER_01]: Is it actually on the phone too?
1:14:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Or no?
1:14:03
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm not sure.
1:14:04
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, well, that's how far away from Rootscape 3 I am.
1:14:09
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I know Rootscape 3 I can technically go on my old account if I can recover it.
1:14:13
[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
1:14:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
1:14:14
[SPEAKER_02]: Something that I I sold mine way back the day.
1:14:20
[SPEAKER_01]: Why did too, but whoever like has it.
1:14:23
[SPEAKER_01]: They, um, This is Rootscape.
1:14:30
[SPEAKER_01]: then not call it rs3, they just call it rmsk.
1:14:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, this is, this is rmsk for sure.
1:14:34
[SPEAKER_02]: We were in skate 3, because it was an evolution to call them that, because there was rmsk class act, that was like, look, the 2d version.
1:14:47
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
1:14:48
[SPEAKER_02]: And then rmsk 2 was, you know, oh, I saw rs of the day, and then rmsk 3 was after the evolution of combat.
1:15:00
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm actually downloading on my phone, so I can try it.
1:15:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways.
1:15:03
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, we'll kind of have to report on that.
1:15:06
[SPEAKER_01]: I am gonna go back and see if I have it, the oblivion part one and just release it this Sunday.
1:15:13
[SPEAKER_01]: This episode comes out Wednesday, August 19th, I will be releasing this one tonight after I edit it.
1:15:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, is there anything else you would really like to touch on today?
1:15:24
[SPEAKER_01]: What is that?
1:15:24
[SPEAKER_01]: What the fuck is that?
1:15:25
[SPEAKER_02]: The knife.
1:15:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, is that the knife you cut yourself with?
1:15:29
[SPEAKER_02]: No.
1:15:30
[SPEAKER_02]: That's...
1:15:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't say it out.
1:15:33
[SPEAKER_01]: If that was, I'm like, you know, that's some psycho-path shit, like, you all look at his knife.
1:15:36
[SPEAKER_01]: This is the knife I did it.
1:15:38
[SPEAKER_01]: I do have it.
1:15:39
[SPEAKER_01]: They're still blood on it.
1:15:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, I bet.
1:15:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there actually... Oh, your dog is actually blood on it, so.
1:15:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Fuck.
1:15:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Um, anyways, honestly, man, it's been cool as hell to talk about old school runescape.
1:15:52
[SPEAKER_01]: This game has been so much to my...
1:15:55
[SPEAKER_01]: uh... internet life essentially because it's basically all i had besides my space and uh... youtube and stuff livelihoods just some of the other shit nice pal pal pal uh... he's ready to go uh... but yeah ruined scape is it's such a big deal to dude i don't think you understand how funny that looks due to get
1:16:22
[SPEAKER_01]: Alex pointing and gun to me through the camera, it looks, Alex, I got to take a picture of this, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on
1:16:51
[SPEAKER_01]: And we also have Grant that the auto coming out November.
1:16:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Call duty for there is Legend of Zelda.
1:16:57
[SPEAKER_01]: All create a time remake Alex is just showing me his arsenal while I'm talking.
1:17:00
[SPEAKER_01]: It almost looks like I'm being held hostage digitally.
1:17:02
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of hilarious.
1:17:05
[SPEAKER_01]: So many good games coming out.
1:17:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Godzilla destroy all monsters melee is coming out remastered on all platforms to challenge GTA for the throne.
1:17:13
[SPEAKER_01]: We must help Godzilla succeed.
1:17:16
[SPEAKER_01]: Please go pre-order that.
1:17:17
[SPEAKER_01]: It comes out, I think, literally the same day.
1:17:18
[SPEAKER_01]: If not the same day, it comes out the same week.
1:17:20
[SPEAKER_01]: And it actually does have a physical addition coming out for the Nintendo Switch 2 and PlayStation 5.
1:17:27
[SPEAKER_01]: I think maybe Xbox as well.
1:17:28
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, guys, those are some amazing games we talked about today.
1:17:32
[SPEAKER_01]: A lot of updates.
1:17:33
[SPEAKER_01]: I can't wait to see you guys on the next episode.
1:17:35
[SPEAKER_01]: The Oblivion ones recorded for probably almost a year ago.
1:17:39
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, Alex, thank you so much for being on the podcast today.
1:17:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Is there anything else you'd like to throw out there?
1:17:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, you practice gun safety over there.
1:17:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Halo sucks.
1:17:51
[SPEAKER_01]: Halo doesn't suck, but goddamn, every going backwards.
1:17:54
[SPEAKER_01]: We're going up and down at the same time.
1:17:56
[SPEAKER_01]: It's really bad.
1:17:57
[SPEAKER_01]: I hope that God will figure it out soon.
1:17:59
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, thank you guys so much for listening to the podcast.
1:18:02
[SPEAKER_01]: If you have anything to add today or talk about anything we missed, please message me on all platforms that it just works podcast, subscribe, leave some reviews, all that fun stuff.
1:18:12
[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you again for listening and have a good one.
1:18:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Peace.
1:18:16
[SPEAKER_01]: See you guys.
1:18:17
[SPEAKER_01]: See you all.
