- 3:15Speaker 4: zero and we'll welcome into the show now. Attorney Charleston
- 3:18Speaker 4: City Councilman also policy director for Energy Efficient West Virginia,
- 3:22Speaker 4: and Pepper's here. How you doing, my friend, I'm doing great.
- 3:24Speaker 4: I got to listen to that Christmas show. That's a
- 3:27Speaker 4: great line up. Those are also of my favorite people. Yeah,
- 3:29Speaker 4: I mean it's somebody told me complimented, said what a
- 3:33Speaker 4: great show it was. I said, well, it wasn't because
- 3:34Speaker 4: of me. I can tell you that it was because
- 3:36Speaker 4: of Pushkin and Amos Steele and of course all the
- 3:40Speaker 4: other folks we threw in there as well, and Elisha
- 3:42Speaker 4: is just fantastic. So yeah, it's a great show. It
- 3:46Speaker 4: was a was a great show. I mean, I several
- 3:49Speaker 4: people really love the music, and I mean they just
- 3:52Speaker 4: he used to get people sitting around and jamming a
- 3:53Speaker 4: little bit, and I, who have no musical ability whatsoever,
- 3:57Speaker 4: just try to play along.
- 3:58Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 3:59Speaker 7: Likewise, I used to do radio show together. Actually okay
- 4:02Speaker 7: on the little station here.
- 4:03Speaker 4: Okay, I got you.
- 4:04Speaker 8: I guess.
- 4:04Speaker 4: Yeah, Well she's fantastic talent. I mean, she really really is.
- 4:06Speaker 4: And she and the interesting thing about that show is
- 4:09Speaker 4: it is you know, uh, Pushkin and Johnny Compton who's
- 4:15Speaker 4: a name of Steele, had gone back and forth, you know,
- 4:18Speaker 4: texting thing they rehearsed in the green room. That's the
- 4:21Speaker 4: only time that they ever got together. And just watching
- 4:24Speaker 4: to me as a non musical person, watching the way
- 4:27Speaker 4: musical minds work and just saying, okay, well let's do
- 4:29Speaker 4: it in this key, and just jumping in and knowing
- 4:32Speaker 4: that you know, maybe they didn't know the music, but
- 4:34Speaker 4: they figured it out, and.
- 4:35Speaker 6: It was It's amazing. It's magic to me.
- 4:38Speaker 4: It's magic to me. Yeah, I didn't realize. So I
- 4:41Speaker 4: actually wrote all that out. You wear a lot of hats,
- 4:44Speaker 4: Attorney Charleston City Councilman, director for Energy Efficient West Virginia.
- 4:49Speaker 4: But primarily what I one to focus on today, and
- 4:52Speaker 4: you and I talked about this a little bit over
- 4:54Speaker 4: the weekend. Is your role as an attorney, particularly when
- 4:57Speaker 4: it comes to student loans, and you've got some concerns
- 5:00Speaker 4: as it has to do with the Department of Education.
- 5:03Speaker 7: Yeah, there's some there's some things coming up that people
- 5:04Speaker 7: should be aware of and make sure that they're protected
- 5:07Speaker 7: if they have student loans. The BIDAMIN or the big
- 5:11Speaker 7: The administration, the Trump administration, a lot of them has
- 5:16Speaker 7: announced that they're going to start garnishing wages for student
- 5:19Speaker 7: loans that are in default. And one of the concerns
- 5:22Speaker 7: I have is that there's going to be people who
- 5:25Speaker 7: don't even realize they're in default. There's a lot of
- 5:27Speaker 7: people it's out of side, out of mind, and they're
- 5:29Speaker 7: like maybe maybe they forgot about me, you know. But
- 5:32Speaker 7: so there's a concern that you know, if they're in default,
- 5:34Speaker 7: that that that could that they could start heading having
- 5:37Speaker 7: their wages garnished. And if they don't have their address
- 5:40Speaker 7: updated with this with the federal government on, you know,
- 5:42Speaker 7: this Department of Education, they may not get noticed of
- 5:45Speaker 7: it and it might be a big surprise.
- 5:46Speaker 4: Well and when you think about it, I mean, one
- 5:48Speaker 4: of the chances that somebody has the same address, you
- 5:52Speaker 4: know that they had twenty years ago when they were
- 5:54Speaker 4: in college.
- 5:55Speaker 7: Right, and hopefully they've been on there since then, thirty
- 5:58Speaker 7: whatever the case may be, right, right, Yeah, I mean,
- 6:00Speaker 7: so just got to make sure it's updated and stuff
- 6:02Speaker 7: like that, because there's been a lot of pausing, you know,
- 6:04Speaker 7: even just the last five years, there was you know,
- 6:06Speaker 7: there's the pause for COVID and so you know, maybe
- 6:10Speaker 7: that people have moved and just didn't think to go
- 6:12Speaker 7: on the student one website.
- 6:13Speaker 4: We'll talking to attorney Immitt Pepper. The Day Island Show
- 6:16Speaker 4: in five of d Live brought to you a part
- 6:17Speaker 4: by Pinnacle Consultants. Poor indoor air quality can cause a
- 6:20Speaker 4: variety of health issues allergies, respiratory problems, and more. Pinnacle
- 6:24Speaker 4: off for specialized indoor air quality services for residential, commercial,
- 6:27Speaker 4: and industrial type settings Pinnacle Corp. Dot net. Because what
- 6:30Speaker 4: you don't know, Kennhut, all right, I'm just gonna ask
- 6:31Speaker 4: an obvious question here, not trying to be argumentative or
- 6:34Speaker 4: anything like that, but it's question's got to be asked,
- 6:36Speaker 4: is what's the problem with that? I mean, if they
- 6:39Speaker 4: took out the loans, shouldn't they have to pay them back?
- 6:42Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 6:42Speaker 7: Well, I mean yeah, yes, could be you know, it
- 6:46Speaker 7: depends on their situation and stuff like that. I mean,
- 6:48Speaker 7: the weird thing about student loans is, you know, I'm
- 6:50Speaker 7: a bankruptcy attorney. That's what I do most of the
- 6:52Speaker 7: that's the hat I wear most of the right, right, Yeah,
- 6:55Speaker 7: And so what we see with that, unfortunately, they're treated
- 6:58Speaker 7: a lot differently, uh than other debts, and so you
- 7:02Speaker 7: can't it's very very difficult. Now that I have had
- 7:05Speaker 7: some success in the last you know, a couple of
- 7:07Speaker 7: years to help people get out of student owners through bankruptcy, but.
- 7:11Speaker 6: It's very difficult to do that.
- 7:12Speaker 7: You have to you know, jump through some hoops and
- 7:14Speaker 7: there's some you know, it's not everybody can. So that's
- 7:17Speaker 7: one thing is that it's it's you can't even if
- 7:19Speaker 7: you're in the situation where you're you're drowning in debt,
- 7:22Speaker 7: you have to find bankruptcy. You're still stuck with those
- 7:25Speaker 7: and even in that context, and it's it's a little
- 7:28Speaker 7: bit walking. So I'm not going to get into it,
- 7:29Speaker 7: but basically, you know, you can be in bankruptcy and
- 7:32Speaker 7: there's a kind of bankruptcy we have to make payments
- 7:34Speaker 7: and stuff, and you actually the student loans will get
- 7:36Speaker 7: treated worse than other debts that you have that you can.
- 7:41Speaker 4: Uh congress, you know, so I think, I mean you
- 7:45Speaker 4: would think that a debt is a debt. I mean
- 7:46Speaker 4: that's as a total outside I mean you would think
- 7:49Speaker 4: that a debt is a debt. I mean that's as
- 7:51Speaker 4: a total outsider looking in. A debt is a debt
- 7:54Speaker 4: is a debt. And you know, I don't know why
- 7:56Speaker 4: it would be treated.
- 7:56Speaker 7: In so taxes, for instance, you know, you can't get
- 7:59Speaker 7: your taxes dis char if you you know, we're you
- 8:03Speaker 7: have one hundred thousand dollars taxes or something from last year.
- 8:05Speaker 7: You can't just fall bankruptcy and get rid of those.
- 8:08Speaker 7: But if you do make payments, they get paid first.
- 8:11Speaker 7: But student loans it's not like that. It's that you
- 8:12Speaker 7: just they're just treated like every other debt, except you
- 8:15Speaker 7: can't get rid of them. And a lot of that
- 8:17Speaker 7: goes back to I mean, these a lot of the
- 8:19Speaker 7: court cases and stuff, they hasn't they haven't changed this
- 8:21Speaker 7: for a long time. So a lot of the court
- 8:23Speaker 7: cases and stuff are from the nineties, from uh, you know,
- 8:26Speaker 7: even sometimes the eighties whatever like this is and things
- 8:29Speaker 7: aren't way different in terms of student loans since then.
- 8:31Speaker 7: I mean, I went to school in the in the
- 8:33Speaker 7: late nineties. You probably think went in their early nineties
- 8:36Speaker 7: or late eighties.
- 8:36Speaker 4: You didn't have to say that, but go ahead, okay, sorry,
- 8:40Speaker 4: but you know.
- 8:41Speaker 6: It's it's different now.
- 8:43Speaker 7: It's a lot more expensive that the debt amounts are
- 8:46Speaker 7: a lot more and so, you know, unfortunately, I think
- 8:49Speaker 7: that there, you know, it was there was a lot
- 8:51Speaker 7: of it was misunderstood about how that was and so
- 8:54Speaker 7: and nothing's changed since then because that's the precedent.
- 8:56Speaker 4: Well, and one of one of the terms that I
- 8:59Speaker 4: have heard, and again we're talking with Attorney Immit Pepper,
- 9:02Speaker 4: one of the terms I've heard is the term predatory
- 9:04Speaker 4: lenders h and that you know, look, nobody is saying
- 9:09Speaker 4: and I've been very adamant about this, and you're saying, yes,
- 9:12Speaker 4: you know, you do need to pay it back. But
- 9:15Speaker 4: but there is there any onus, on on the lending
- 9:18Speaker 4: institutions or the government or whomever that these loans came from.
- 9:22Speaker 6: Yeah, and and there actually are some protections around that.
- 9:24Speaker 7: I mean, so like, for instance, you know, Mountain State
- 9:27Speaker 7: University that went out of business.
- 9:29Speaker 6: There's a lot there's other colleges.
- 9:31Speaker 7: Like that they can be treated a little bit if
- 9:33Speaker 7: it's worth talking to turn your somebody about. If you
- 9:36Speaker 7: have a situation where your school you know, went under,
- 9:39Speaker 7: you know, it could be that that's a reason to
- 9:41Speaker 7: get rid of the student loans because it's you know,
- 9:43Speaker 7: the value that you were getting was not what you
- 9:45Speaker 7: thought you were getting what you should should have gotten.
- 9:47Speaker 6: And there's things like that. But but yeah, you.
- 9:50Speaker 7: Know, and just to be clear, this this new thing
- 9:52Speaker 7: with Garnish forth, this is only for the federally backed
- 9:54Speaker 7: student loans. There's also the private student loans that some
- 9:57Speaker 7: of those are very predatory especially and then but yeah,
- 10:01Speaker 7: if there's an issue with the school, there's things you
- 10:03Speaker 7: can do with that. So there there are options for
- 10:06Speaker 7: things like that. But look, I mean there's somebody's on
- 10:10Speaker 7: social Security, somebody's you know, in their sixties or seventies
- 10:14Speaker 7: and they still have student loans.
- 10:16Speaker 6: Uh.
- 10:17Speaker 7: There are some situations where it's still very challenging to
- 10:19Speaker 7: be able to get rid of them. And and it
- 10:21Speaker 7: just something about that seems wrong because they've been making
- 10:24Speaker 7: a lot of times, they've been making payments well over
- 10:26Speaker 7: the amount that they've actually you know, borrow double or
- 10:29Speaker 7: something like that or more. And and so you know, yes,
- 10:33Speaker 7: people should pay their debts, no question about that.
- 10:36Speaker 6: But there are you know, there are laws in place.
- 10:38Speaker 7: There are you know, steam releases in place, so that
- 10:41Speaker 7: where you know, if there's an issue where they should
- 10:44Speaker 7: be able to wipe out debt and start fresh. That's
- 10:47Speaker 7: what bankruptcy has been has been around for hundreds of
- 10:48Speaker 7: years for you know, in our you know, I don't
- 10:51Speaker 7: wanna say this flip on our president uses everybody uses
- 10:53Speaker 7: it because it's it is a tool that's that is fair,
- 10:56Speaker 7: and there's a there's a process. But unfortunately, with student loans,
- 10:59Speaker 7: there's no way out.
- 11:00Speaker 4: And so how does that change. That's a congressional thing
- 11:02Speaker 4: that would have to change in congress. Yeah, okay, all right.
- 11:05Speaker 4: We have a text here. I don't know if you
- 11:07Speaker 4: can help with this or not, but it says, is
- 11:09Speaker 4: there any type of support or relief you can get
- 11:11Speaker 4: for your student loan payments if your spouse was declared
- 11:15Speaker 4: disabled by their doctor but took like six or seven
- 11:18Speaker 4: years to get any type of money, so you are
- 11:20Speaker 4: a one income family with no welfare at all.
- 11:24Speaker 7: I'm not gonna give avice on the area. It could
- 11:27Speaker 7: be there could be something there. Yeah, I mean there's
- 11:30Speaker 7: it's every situation is different and I talk to people
- 11:33Speaker 7: all the time about this, and there's each situation has
- 11:36Speaker 7: its own unique things, and there may be good options
- 11:39Speaker 7: for making it less burden some so you can actually
- 11:42Speaker 7: afford to make it. And look, I mean that's that
- 11:43Speaker 7: is the truck, you know, just putting in the you know,
- 11:46Speaker 7: their perspective, the Trump administrations say, look, we need to
- 11:48Speaker 7: get more payments coming in, and you know, just garnishing
- 11:52Speaker 7: someone's wages, making it so they can't live that isn't
- 11:54Speaker 7: necessarily going to I mean, I guess get some money in,
- 11:57Speaker 7: but but it's not going to be good for our
- 11:59Speaker 7: for our I don't think. And so you know, there's
- 12:02Speaker 7: there's things that we can do being paractive. This is
- 12:04Speaker 7: not something where you can just partick your head in
- 12:05Speaker 7: the sand. You have to be proact. You have to
- 12:07Speaker 7: look into it. If you get the notice, you got
- 12:09Speaker 7: to do something about it. And there are things you
- 12:11Speaker 7: can do.
- 12:11Speaker 4: So you would urge them to contact an attorney, contact
- 12:14Speaker 4: an attorney or you know, there's actually stuff you can do.
- 12:16Speaker 7: If you get yours, you should in the notice find
- 12:18Speaker 7: out that you can dispute it, and there's a basis
- 12:22Speaker 7: for it, but you know, you can dispute it. There's
- 12:24Speaker 7: some bases that you could actually get out from under
- 12:26Speaker 7: that you can also it's called rehabilitate your loan, where
- 12:31Speaker 7: you can get you can get out of default.
- 12:32Speaker 6: There are ways you can you can do that.
- 12:34Speaker 7: And then of course maybe the last choice would be,
- 12:36Speaker 7: you know, something like bankruptcy. But none of these are
- 12:39Speaker 7: great options. None of them are silver bullets.
- 12:41Speaker 4: Well, I before we let you go, I'll ask you
- 12:43Speaker 4: about a couple of the other hats you you wear.
- 12:45Speaker 4: What's what's what's coming in the new year from Energy
- 12:48Speaker 4: Efficient West Virginia.
- 12:49Speaker 7: Well, we just issued so the governor has this fifty
- 12:52Speaker 7: by fifty plan, So fifty gigawats by twenty fifty. So
- 12:55Speaker 7: that's tripling the amount of power that we have on
- 12:58Speaker 7: the grid. And we just sent a comment send. I'm
- 13:00Speaker 7: happy to send it to you, and I think I
- 13:01Speaker 7: send it to Jeff over here this morning about that plan.
- 13:06Speaker 7: And you know, our perspective is, look, we need to
- 13:07Speaker 7: be doing If we're going to be doing that, I
- 13:10Speaker 7: don't know if that's a good idea or a bad
- 13:11Speaker 7: idea to have that much power, but we definitely need
- 13:14Speaker 7: to be doing everything. We need to be doing things
- 13:16Speaker 7: to help rate payers to take control of their bills.
- 13:19Speaker 7: So having battery to make it easier for that battery
- 13:23Speaker 7: back up make it easy for you to have their
- 13:25Speaker 7: own power.
- 13:27Speaker 4: I want to ask you before we let you go
- 13:29Speaker 4: about your at large seat on Charleston City Council? Do
- 13:32Speaker 4: you have it? Is there a council meeting tonight?
- 13:34Speaker 6: No?
- 13:34Speaker 4: I thought they might take off for the for the hobbidays.
- 13:36Speaker 4: You're gonna run for reelection?
- 13:39Speaker 6: I haven't announced jet.
- 13:40Speaker 4: Okay, all right, all right, all right, but you can
- 13:42Speaker 4: always come here and announce one way they are okay, okay, Yeah,
- 13:45Speaker 4: you will make it a thing. Yeah, I'll even let
- 13:47Speaker 4: you bring donuts. Isn't that nice of me?
- 13:49Speaker 6: I will do that.
- 13:51Speaker 4: Yeah, but Pepper, I appreciate youall. Wait a minute, if
- 13:53Speaker 4: you file bankruptcy, will you lose your house? So it's
- 13:55Speaker 4: a texture. I mean, I guess it depends on the situation.
- 13:58Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean most of the time, we well, I
- 14:00Speaker 7: just say, I mean the way the kind of bankruptcy
- 14:02Speaker 7: that we file is the kind that we you know,
- 14:05Speaker 7: we would make sure that you protect your house. I mean,
- 14:07Speaker 7: we don't we don't file bankruptcy where people lose their
- 14:09Speaker 7: house if they don't want to.
- 14:10Speaker 4: All right, Emma Pepper, It's always pleasure. I V in
- 14:12Speaker 4: the show Man. You two thanks, I'll having a happy,
- 14:14Speaker 4: happy New Year. It's nine to twenty one. The Dave

- 15:52Speaker 10: could cut corners on your credit card security, putting your
- 15:55Speaker 10: personal data at risk. Big chain retailers and warehouse stores

- 16:52Speaker 4: Lindsay Hainy doing my friend. Hey, good morning man, how
- 16:54Speaker 4: you doing. You know I'm doing well. This is kind
- 16:58Speaker 4: of interesting. I've been doing the show. It'll be six
- 17:00Speaker 4: years in May. This may be the first time that
- 17:04Speaker 4: I've ever had a guest to be on back to
- 17:07Speaker 4: back shows. Now, there may have been something with the
- 17:08Speaker 4: mayor that happened that you know, or a subject like
- 17:12Speaker 4: Rogatta or something like that. But you were on the
- 17:13Speaker 4: Wednesday show and then now you're back again. So you
- 17:17Speaker 4: just want to take the job. Is that what you
- 17:19Speaker 4: want to know?
- 17:19Speaker 11: I said, can I be judge? If you take this job,
- 17:23Speaker 11: I might want to trade up with you. I don't know,
- 17:24Speaker 11: certain days you probably do. Maybe maybe I'm just a
- 17:27Speaker 11: special guy. I tell you what I was thinking about
- 17:29Speaker 11: this afterwards, And I don't know what the ratings are,
- 17:32Speaker 11: but I got a hope and believe that the Christmas
- 17:34Speaker 11: Show it gets better every year, you know, I mean.
- 17:37Speaker 4: Not because of the host. I can tell you that
- 17:39Speaker 4: it's it's it's it's the talent.
- 17:41Speaker 11: The first year I was on it was with Caitlyn
- 17:43Speaker 11: boy tech yep, right out of Lovi County, right.
- 17:45Speaker 4: She was great.
- 17:46Speaker 11: And then Elisha's been here a couple of years for violin,
- 17:49Speaker 11: and then I didn't even know the amous band steal
- 17:53Speaker 11: Yeah existed, and it's been on my Spotify since the show.
- 17:56Speaker 4: It's so, I mean, are they fantastic or what? Great?
- 17:58Speaker 4: And it's that's just that's my kind of music. That's
- 18:01Speaker 4: what I like, a little southern rock, little blues. And
- 18:03Speaker 4: I'll get a quick plug in because Tony the Taylor
- 18:05Speaker 4: would want me to do this. I think they're doing
- 18:06Speaker 4: New Year's Eve out at Marty gar Casino, so I'll
- 18:09Speaker 4: get a little part in there for him, and right,
- 18:10Speaker 4: all right, so all right, So what happened to you
- 18:13Speaker 4: Steelers yesterday?
- 18:14Speaker 3: Man?
- 18:15Speaker 11: You know, I took the family up to Cleveland yesterday
- 18:19Speaker 11: thinking that the Steelers were gonna win the AFC North there.
- 18:22Speaker 11: I wanted to be there for it. And no, no, good, no, no,
- 18:27Speaker 11: not happening. The worst game I think I've ever seen,
- 18:30Speaker 11: definitely the worst game I've seen in person. And then
- 18:32Speaker 11: I like to watch baseball. I like to go to
- 18:34Speaker 11: PNC Park and watch the Pirates, and uh so I
- 18:37Speaker 11: rarely go to football games, and this is probably like
- 18:39Speaker 11: the third or fourth one. And I didn't realize by
- 18:41Speaker 11: looking on stub Hub with the where we were. We
- 18:44Speaker 11: ended up we were in the nosebleed, so we were
- 18:47Speaker 11: right there. That lake effect wind was coming in right
- 18:50Speaker 11: across our faces at the very top, and it was wet,
- 18:53Speaker 11: and the Steelers put put together probably the worst game
- 18:57Speaker 11: I've seen all season.
- 18:58Speaker 4: So well, at least your team is still playing for
- 19:00Speaker 4: a division title next weekend. You know, the Cowboys will
- 19:04Speaker 4: play the Giants to close out the season without making
- 19:06Speaker 4: the playoffs. But you know, people just get all bothered
- 19:11Speaker 4: when I say this. Dak Prescott had an incredible year.
- 19:13Speaker 4: He's a cowboy. He had an MVP type year except
- 19:18Speaker 4: for the defense. We could score thirty eight, but the
- 19:21Speaker 4: other team was scoring forty five and fifty or something
- 19:23Speaker 4: like that. But you know, the offensive offensive explosion for
- 19:27Speaker 4: the Cowboys, but unfortunately a defensive explosion on the other way.
- 19:31Speaker 4: So we can't stop anybody. All right, So I'm going
- 19:34Speaker 4: to ask you about about your first year on the
- 19:38Speaker 4: bench overall. Overall, your takeaway overall, I like my job.
- 19:44Speaker 11: I like being judge, and I think, you know, as
- 19:47Speaker 11: far as a takeaway, I think that the judges here
- 19:49Speaker 11: in this Circuit Court of Kanall County, and the prosecutors
- 19:53Speaker 11: and defense attorneys in the bar here in Kanall County
- 19:56Speaker 11: just do a pretty good job. I mean really, I
- 19:58Speaker 11: mean as a lawyer, I practice for sixteen years before
- 20:01Speaker 11: it became a judge. And you know, as a lawyer
- 20:03Speaker 11: you always have your complaints and criticisms about, you know,
- 20:07Speaker 11: how certain circuits or certain judges do this, that or
- 20:10Speaker 11: the other. But no complaints from what I can tell.
- 20:12Speaker 11: I mean, I think we all do a pretty good job.
- 20:14Speaker 11: And it is as far as the substance of the cases.
- 20:18Speaker 11: I mean, you go in knowing that, for example, abuse
- 20:22Speaker 11: neglect cases and truancy cases are going to take up
- 20:25Speaker 11: a lot of your dock at juvenile cases, but you
- 20:29Speaker 11: don't realize how much until you're actually there in it,
- 20:33Speaker 11: and you know, you try to work and do the
- 20:35Speaker 11: best you can, you know, and administer justice where you
- 20:38Speaker 11: can and try to get resolution where you can, which
- 20:41Speaker 11: I think is important. So that's kind of I don't
- 20:45Speaker 11: know if that's what you're asking. That's kind of my
- 20:48Speaker 11: view of it.
- 20:48Speaker 4: I mean, was that everything that you expected to be
- 20:51Speaker 4: and what kind of surprises did you?
- 20:52Speaker 3: Well?
- 20:52Speaker 11: I mean, again, I think everyone tells you and you
- 20:55Speaker 11: read stories in the paper about again, you know, some
- 20:58Speaker 11: of the horrific things that come out of those abuse
- 21:00Speaker 11: and neglect cases, and then you're in it and you
- 21:02Speaker 11: actually see where you know, evil does exist in the world,
- 21:08Speaker 11: and uh that that can be tough to taste.
- 21:11Speaker 4: Yeah, And I always thought you're absolutely right about that.
- 21:13Speaker 4: I always thought when when you're dealing and you're on
- 21:17Speaker 4: the bench in a in a small community and let's
- 21:19Speaker 4: face them by West Virginia standards, Charleston is a large community,
- 21:22Speaker 4: but by nationwide standards, it's a small community. And you
- 21:26Speaker 4: are tasked judge with with situations where you I don't
- 21:32Speaker 4: know that you're going to know the people necessarily, but
- 21:34Speaker 4: you certainly know the areas that they come from, and
- 21:37Speaker 4: and and you see a lot of the same type cases.
- 21:40Speaker 4: I would think that would make a little bit more difficult.
- 21:41Speaker 11: As a judge.
- 21:44Speaker 4: Yeah, a little bit.
- 21:45Speaker 11: I mean other than other than the Again, the the
- 21:49Speaker 11: the scenario, scenarios and circumstances that may make part of
- 21:53Speaker 11: may may make some people's nightmares that you see in
- 21:56Speaker 11: front of you, the fact patterns. The other thing too
- 21:58Speaker 11: is that the you know, being able to put your
- 22:04Speaker 11: own opinion aside and just do what the law says,
- 22:08Speaker 11: and that that that that's that can be tough. And
- 22:10Speaker 11: you know there have been I've had a number of
- 22:12Speaker 11: cases and I can't go into details. So firstly, but
- 22:16Speaker 11: where you know, uh, citizen Lindsey or former state Senator
- 22:21Speaker 11: Lindsay may have thought one thing, but the law says
- 22:23Speaker 11: the other. And then that that's so important to follow
- 22:25Speaker 11: through as a judge, to do what the law requires.
- 22:28Speaker 4: That goes back to your training as an attorney too,
- 22:30Speaker 4: because I mean as an attorney, you know, you've you've
- 22:33Speaker 4: got to work with your clients on on just yeah,
- 22:36Speaker 4: and I just had an attorney on right before you
- 22:38Speaker 4: and yeah, and you have to you have to you
- 22:42Speaker 4: have to take a look at the law, you know,
- 22:44Speaker 4: and uh and not and not always your opinions.
- 22:47Speaker 11: Absolutely and it and it's just to do that because
- 22:50Speaker 11: you know, the judiciary is the consistency and stability of
- 22:54Speaker 11: our government, right. That's why you there are certain rules
- 22:57Speaker 11: in place like stereodecisives, which is a fancy way of
- 22:59Speaker 11: saying judges must follow precedent because that's what the electorate
- 23:04Speaker 11: and the government require to stabilize the system of government
- 23:08Speaker 11: that we have the luxury of having here in America.
- 23:11Speaker 11: So I think that's important. That's an important role for
- 23:14Speaker 11: judges to fulfill.
- 23:16Speaker 4: Talking again with Judge Richard Lindsay, It's nine thirty Dave

- 23:46Speaker 4: with a K K K L I and E sixty
- 23:49Speaker 4: six at gmail dot com. What's the biggest misconception from
- 23:52Speaker 4: the public?
- 23:53Speaker 11: Rich?
- 23:53Speaker 4: I mean, because here's what you hear all the time,
- 23:55Speaker 4: and again this kind of goes back to what you
- 23:57Speaker 4: said about following the law. There is a conception, misconception
- 24:04Speaker 4: whatever all over where people say, well, you know the
- 24:10Speaker 4: you know, there's some horrific case or maybe not a
- 24:12Speaker 4: horrific case, and they read the headlines. You know that
- 24:16Speaker 4: the people don't feel that that the penalties were harsh enough.
- 24:22Speaker 4: And I would think that's one of the misconceptions sometimes
- 24:24Speaker 4: is that as judges you are tasked again with doing
- 24:28Speaker 4: what the law says when they're sentencing guidelines and things
- 24:31Speaker 4: like that. Is that one of the biggest misconceptions, you think.
- 24:34Speaker 11: You know, I think that that that probably is the case.
- 24:37Speaker 11: I mean I think that, you know, most people don't
- 24:40Speaker 11: know enough about the law. And that's no criticism of them.
- 24:42Speaker 11: I mean, most people don't find themselves in the judicial building, right,
- 24:47Speaker 11: Most people don't find themselves in hiring lawyers or or
- 24:51Speaker 11: before courts. So it's kind of a unique circumstance for them,
- 24:55Speaker 11: especially without that experience. And you know, I think that
- 25:00Speaker 11: the I think the judiciary we could do a little
- 25:02Speaker 11: bit more in educating the public. But that's for a
- 25:04Speaker 11: different day. But but as far as a misconception, I
- 25:07Speaker 11: think you're correct, Dave. I mean I think that you know,
- 25:09Speaker 11: you see a headline and you see someone get a
- 25:12Speaker 11: sentence that you can't understand. More often than not, judges
- 25:17Speaker 11: really don't have a choice. It's not like you can
- 25:21Speaker 11: add any more time than what the statute allows for
- 25:25Speaker 11: a particular penalty or a plea. And and so I
- 25:29Speaker 11: you know, I would just ask those folks who may
- 25:32Speaker 11: be upset with any any decision of judge makes try
- 25:35Speaker 11: to do take take a breath, maybe do a little
- 25:38Speaker 11: research and figure out, you know, whether or not you
- 25:40Speaker 11: believe he or she did the right thing.
- 25:42Speaker 4: And you're a former legislator, as you mentioned, you were
- 25:44Speaker 4: state state senator. Some of those things, you know, you
- 25:46Speaker 4: probably just I know you can't do this, but you
- 25:48Speaker 4: probably just want to say, hey, contact your legislator. You know,
- 25:51Speaker 4: I'm going by what the law says here.
- 25:52Speaker 11: Yet absolutely absolutely they you know, the legislature, they they
- 25:56Speaker 11: make the law. Right that just like any any eighth
- 25:59Speaker 11: grade Civics course, right, you know, the executive enforces the law,
- 26:02Speaker 11: the legislature makes a law, and the judiciary interprets the law.
- 26:06Speaker 11: So it you know that if you keep that in mind,
- 26:09Speaker 11: and then like I said, you know, take a moment
- 26:12Speaker 11: in time or a couple of moments to take a
- 26:14Speaker 11: look at what actually is happening, then I think people
- 26:18Speaker 11: would be more be more comfortable with any decision. Having
- 26:22Speaker 11: said that, like I said, I think that you know,
- 26:25Speaker 11: we could probably do more as judges or as a
- 26:28Speaker 11: judiciary and educating the public. And I know the Supreme
- 26:30Speaker 11: Court's done a good job of opening the process up
- 26:33Speaker 11: to the public. They've got a lot of things going
- 26:35Speaker 11: on over there at the Capitol Building that is more interactive,
- 26:38Speaker 11: and they go see justices, go see students at schools
- 26:42Speaker 11: throughout the state. And I think that's good too.
- 26:44Speaker 4: So go back to your time as a legislator, a
- 26:47Speaker 4: state senator. What what was it that What were some
- 26:50Speaker 4: of the things that you encountered as a legislator that
- 26:53Speaker 4: you think may may help you out as a judge.
- 26:57Speaker 11: I think that, you know, one of the things I've
- 27:00Speaker 11: always prided myself and when I was in the legislature
- 27:03Speaker 11: and just generally speaking, and I enjoy being around people
- 27:07Speaker 11: and I try to take I try to give them
- 27:11Speaker 11: as much opportunity to talk to me. And that's what
- 27:14Speaker 11: was the same with the legislature. I was always available
- 27:16Speaker 11: to my constituents to talk to me and to hear
- 27:19Speaker 11: me out if they disagreed with me, or hear me
- 27:20Speaker 11: out to try to help them. And I try to
- 27:23Speaker 11: take that same type of direction in the courtroom. I
- 27:28Speaker 11: really try to take my time and explain my decision
- 27:31Speaker 11: one way or the other. Give everyone an opportunity to speak.
- 27:35Speaker 11: I think half the time, you know, people just want
- 27:38Speaker 11: that opportunity to be heard by somebody. And if you
- 27:42Speaker 11: have a claim or a controversy in my courtroom, I
- 27:45Speaker 11: always try to make the extra effort to give you
- 27:48Speaker 11: that time to speak.
- 27:50Speaker 4: So so Richard Lindsay, it's always a pleasure to have
- 27:52Speaker 4: you on the show, my friend. It's always too quick.
- 27:55Speaker 11: I mean, you know, I got the time, man, I know,
- 27:58Speaker 11: I appreciate you, and I appreciate the opportunity to talk
- 28:00Speaker 11: to you. I saw the mayor in before.
- 28:02Speaker 4: Yeah you know, yeah, I.
- 28:03Speaker 11: Guess he's taking up Mayor Mondays now.
- 28:05Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, yeah, he's on every Monday.
- 28:07Speaker 12: Yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 4: We got to sell. We're trying to sell some books
- 28:09Speaker 4: for him. I hear you. I hear you. By the way,
- 28:11Speaker 4: if you haven't gotten I will get an update on
- 28:13Speaker 4: what the status of the books are. You got to
- 28:15Speaker 4: read the book. Well, last I heard it was sold
- 28:16Speaker 4: out yet it is, but you're supposed to be more
- 28:18Speaker 4: coming in so after the first of the years. So
- 28:19Speaker 4: we'll talk to Danny about that. Read the book, rich
- 28:21Speaker 4: you'll you'll really enjoy it, all right. I would. I
- 28:24Speaker 4: would give you my copy, But our goal is to
- 28:26Speaker 4: sell the books. So sorry, you're gonna have to park
- 28:29Speaker 4: out a little money there, buddy. I'll get to the
- 28:31Speaker 4: I'll get to the books to run, all right, Judge

- 31:22Speaker 4: us on the show today and of course Open Line
- 31:23Speaker 4: West Virginia. Metro News Midday with thirteen News and Tonight
- 31:26Speaker 4: Live anchor Manda Baran and Me Coming up at noon today,
- 31:28Speaker 4: brought to you by Selango law Again, no local show tomorrow.
- 31:32Speaker 4: I get some medical things. I'm gonna be taking care
- 31:35Speaker 4: of tomorrow, but I will be back in time for

- 31:42Speaker 4: get done probing me tomorrow to do Metro News Midday.
- 31:47Speaker 4: Danny Jones is here. Hey, doing man, I'm doing all right.
- 31:50Speaker 4: Thank you for being here. So what's the deal with
- 31:52Speaker 4: the tire man? You posted this picture on social media
- 31:55Speaker 4: of your tire got just basically slashed by our bridge.
- 31:58Speaker 4: Talk about it.
- 32:00Speaker 12: We were all coming back from Jarrett in town, you know,
- 32:05Speaker 12: we were all coming back from Cracker Barrel. So we're
- 32:10Speaker 12: crossing the bridge going to the east end and right
- 32:16Speaker 12: there at the beginning of the bridge. I want people
- 32:18Speaker 12: to know this and watch out for it, because I'm
- 32:21Speaker 12: not the only one people have told me, and it
- 32:26Speaker 12: my tire hit that hit whatever it was there and
- 32:31Speaker 12: it put a hole in the tire big enough for
- 32:33Speaker 12: Jarrett to put his fists through.
- 32:35Speaker 4: I mean, it didn't look like that's not your run
- 32:37Speaker 4: of the mill. I hit a pothole, flat tire. It
- 32:40Speaker 4: looks like that. I mean that thing was demolished at
- 32:42Speaker 4: the picture I saw this posting.
- 32:43Speaker 12: It was and it's going to take me till tomorrow
- 32:47Speaker 12: to get a tire to fit it. I so went
- 32:51Speaker 12: up last night and the Cadillac wouldn't start. So I
- 32:54Speaker 12: went up this morning. I said, I give it another shot,
- 32:57Speaker 12: and it started.
- 32:57Speaker 4: Okay.
- 32:58Speaker 12: So I'm driving the Cadillac.
- 33:00Speaker 4: Okay. Look, now, explain exactly where what bridge that we're
- 33:03Speaker 4: talking about.
- 33:04Speaker 12: Outside or the Canall City Bridge.
- 33:07Speaker 4: Okay. Let's suppose you're.
- 33:09Speaker 12: Coming back from from you actually be heading west okay, okay,
- 33:19Speaker 12: but you're heading to the east end and right at
- 33:23Speaker 12: the beginning of the bridge that's where the hole is
- 33:27Speaker 12: and can All City Bridge Okay.
- 33:29Speaker 4: And this is like a major, major pothole.
- 33:32Speaker 12: It has to be.
- 33:32Speaker 4: And when did this happen last last night? Okay?
- 33:35Speaker 12: And and the funny thing is we got it back
- 33:40Speaker 12: and it didn't hurt the rim and uh, it's down
- 33:44Speaker 12: at JP Auto who I'd recommend on the west side
- 33:48Speaker 12: right now. And but it really tore it up bad.
- 33:54Speaker 12: So what I did was I posted the picture the
- 34:00Speaker 12: tire and then I notified people of be careful, and
- 34:05Speaker 12: I called, I don't know any other legislator, I don't
- 34:08Speaker 12: know those are legislators. Now, I called Katie Young, I said,
- 34:14Speaker 12: I know this in your area, She says, I don't care,
- 34:17Speaker 12: I'll help you. So I told her where it was.
- 34:20Speaker 12: And because it's dangerous.
- 34:22Speaker 4: Thirty six street Bridge is a technical name of it,
- 34:24Speaker 4: according to Attack.
- 34:25Speaker 12: And so hopefully they're going to do something in channel thirteen.
- 34:30Speaker 12: I saw Savannah Young this morning at Starbucks and and
- 34:36Speaker 12: she said she saw it, and she just texted me,
- 34:40Speaker 12: I think they're going down look at it.
- 34:41Speaker 4: Okay, So be warned if you're going to be tracked.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Because this was late last night. Chances are if they
- 34:46Speaker 4: are fixing it that they didn't get it fixed. I mean,
- 34:48Speaker 4: I wouldn't think that they got it fixing in that
- 34:50Speaker 4: short amount of time. Yeah.
- 34:52Speaker 12: Well, and like everything else in your car, when you're
- 34:57Speaker 12: you think you're completely innocent on everything, you feel violated,
- 35:02Speaker 12: you know. And then I got all this information. You
- 35:07Speaker 12: can turn it in and and quarter Claims will pay you.
- 35:12Speaker 12: It'll take forever. And I thought, well, if I do that,
- 35:16Speaker 12: the taxpayers have to pay it.
- 35:18Speaker 8: You know.
- 35:19Speaker 4: That's you.
- 35:20Speaker 12: Yeah, right, So I don't know what I'm going to do.
- 35:23Speaker 12: I may just eat it, you know. So do you
- 35:26Speaker 12: have a good Christmas? I had a real nice Christmas,
- 35:29Speaker 12: and and you know, with charity in town.
- 35:35Speaker 4: When when does he go back?
- 35:36Speaker 8: Twelve?
- 35:37Speaker 4: Okay, so he got him for a while then.
- 35:39Speaker 12: Yeah, it's it's just you know him and Andrew both.
- 35:44Speaker 12: I mean, it just makes me melt. When you're seventy
- 35:47Speaker 12: five years old and you have children that age, it's
- 35:51Speaker 12: kind of like having grandchildren. Yeah, it is so one
- 35:55Speaker 12: to nineteen, and one's going to be eighteen in February,
- 35:59Speaker 12: so it's pretty exciting.
- 36:02Speaker 4: And he's still enjoying his his time at the military.
- 36:06Speaker 4: It's hard, yeah, and the way said it would be easy,
- 36:09Speaker 4: it's really hard. And you went through a military I.
- 36:13Speaker 12: Went through three years of military school and then two
- 36:15Speaker 12: years in the Marine Corps. Yeah, and I'm still trying
- 36:18Speaker 12: to figure out how how the Steelers got beat by
- 36:20Speaker 12: the brown How does that happen?
- 36:23Speaker 4: Yeah, well, you know it's why I was talking you know,
- 36:26Speaker 4: Rich Lindsay, the judge is a big Steeler fan, and
- 36:28Speaker 4: I said, hey, at least your team is still alive.
- 36:31Speaker 4: My team's Dallas and they're you know, they're they're they're out.
- 36:34Speaker 4: They've been out for a couple of weeks by the Browns. Yeah,
- 36:37Speaker 4: it's it's pretty bad. Aaron Rodgers did not look good.
- 36:40Speaker 4: But I mean the Bills also didn't do so well
- 36:43Speaker 4: yesterday either. But uh, my wife's family, they're all big
- 36:46Speaker 4: Bears fans, you know, being from Chicago, so they're they
- 36:49Speaker 4: got beat last night, but they're they're feeling pretty good.
- 36:52Speaker 3: But I like coach.
- 36:54Speaker 4: I'm a big coach Tomlin guy. And any other time
- 36:58Speaker 4: that touchdown in the end zone. I saw to my
- 37:00Speaker 4: neighbor about this, who's a Steeler fan. That final play
- 37:02Speaker 4: when Rogers put the ball in the end zone, that
- 37:04Speaker 4: was past interference. But they're not going to call it
- 37:06Speaker 4: on the last play of the game. That was I mean,
- 37:09Speaker 4: that's that's simply not gonna happen. And Rogers was looking
- 37:11Speaker 4: around for a flag and in my opinion, that was
- 37:14Speaker 4: past interference. However, they're simply not going to call that
- 37:18Speaker 4: on the last player of the game. Do you do
- 37:19Speaker 4: New Year's resolutions?
- 37:21Speaker 8: No?
- 37:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't need it. I don't either. I will
- 37:25Speaker 4: say this. This is the time of year, though, Danny,
- 37:27Speaker 4: when people do tend to look back and look ahead,
- 37:32Speaker 4: and I want to. I want to look back on
- 37:34Speaker 4: the national front. Any major surprises for you on the
- 37:40Speaker 4: national front, I mean, you know, Trump's popularity on the
- 37:44Speaker 4: on a nationwide level continues to go down. Not in
- 37:47Speaker 4: West Virginia, though so in any big surprise, Not in
- 37:51Speaker 4: West Virginia, though so in any big surprises in the
- 37:54Speaker 4: year twenty.
- 37:55Speaker 12: Twelve, life, wait and see what happens on this medical front. Okay,
- 37:59Speaker 12: let's see what happened. I want to explain something to
- 38:02Speaker 12: people about the Affordable Care Act.
- 38:05Speaker 4: It passed.
- 38:08Speaker 12: Two thousand and ten something like that, and they had
- 38:14Speaker 12: we were able to get a bunch of Medicare money,
- 38:17Speaker 12: I mean Medicaid money. You were able to get it
- 38:19Speaker 12: if you wanted it, and we were one of the
- 38:23Speaker 12: states said let's go for it. Or I can't remember
- 38:27Speaker 12: what year it was, Okay, we'll look it up. But
- 38:31Speaker 12: so it really helped this state. You know, we're a
- 38:34Speaker 12: poor state. There were two the Affordable Care Act was
- 38:40Speaker 12: propped up by taxes, and I'll give you two. One
- 38:45Speaker 12: was the medical device tax, and when the Republicans got
- 38:50Speaker 12: in charge, boom, it's gone. The second was what's called
- 38:57Speaker 12: a Cadillac tax on mainly union healthcare plans because they
- 39:07Speaker 12: were so good, they were going to add a tax
- 39:10Speaker 12: to those. Well, well, can't have that. So that's another
- 39:15Speaker 12: tax that was gone, the Affordable Care Act. Just what
- 39:19Speaker 12: the biggest accomplishment of the Affordable Care Act was to
- 39:23Speaker 12: tell people you have to insure people. You know people
- 39:27Speaker 12: that you can't just tell them you can ensure them.
- 39:29Speaker 12: You're going to ensure them. It's an exchange. You can
- 39:34Speaker 12: buy insurance. It's expensive, it's got high deductibles, and but
- 39:44Speaker 12: it's but that's all it is, really is an exchange.
- 39:47Speaker 4: The Obamacare Affordable Care Act signed into law by President
- 39:51Speaker 4: Obama March twenty third, twenty ten.
- 39:54Speaker 12: Yeah, and then the Republicans took over, Remember how they
- 39:58Speaker 12: got shell liked. The Republicans took over, and they just
- 40:02Speaker 12: they wanted to get rid of it just because it
- 40:04Speaker 12: was They named it Obamacare, which I noted is a
- 40:10Speaker 12: term of disrespect. But then Obama picked it up.
- 40:14Speaker 4: Yes he wasn't the first one that said it, but
- 40:16Speaker 4: he kind of took and ran with it.
- 40:19Speaker 12: And if they'd have left those taxes in place, it
- 40:29Speaker 12: may it may have helped drive the price down. But
- 40:33Speaker 12: if you're going to drive the price something down, you've
- 40:35Speaker 12: got to have money coming in to make that work.
- 40:39Speaker 12: And when you strip away the taxes to make that happen,
- 40:44Speaker 12: the price is going to go up. And that's what
- 40:46Speaker 12: happened to the.
- 40:47Speaker 4: Affordable Care Act became not so affordable.
- 40:50Speaker 12: Well, in the Affordable Care Act is a Republican plan.
- 40:55Speaker 12: You know, the guys that came up with it were Republicans.
- 40:58Speaker 4: We'll talk about the some of the election stuff, of course,
- 41:02Speaker 4: you know, we we we saw some Democrats uh uh
- 41:06Speaker 4: that were elected in some pretty contentious races, and Republican
- 41:09Speaker 4: governors and things of that nature. New Jersey, uh, Virginia
- 41:12Speaker 4: has its first female. It wasn't that much of a
- 41:15Speaker 4: surprise because some of those areas were we were you know,
- 41:19Speaker 4: blue areas.
- 41:19Speaker 12: Anyway, they yeah, it wasn't a big deal, right, Okay, what.
- 41:23Speaker 4: About Mundammie though, you were the first person that I
- 41:27Speaker 4: had heard anywhere especially you know.
- 41:30Speaker 12: You better watch what's gonna happen in New York.
- 41:32Speaker 4: To come on this show. Whenever he announced he was running,
- 41:36Speaker 4: and you said keep an eye on this, and and
- 41:39Speaker 4: he won, and he won handily, well in New York City.
- 41:43Speaker 12: Let me tell you something about him. Here's what he's
- 41:45Speaker 12: going to learn pretty quickly. They're going to have a
- 41:48Speaker 12: bad winner up there, and he's going to learn what
- 41:52Speaker 12: it what it's like to have to deal with snowplows
- 41:56Speaker 12: and garbage and picking up garbage with snowplows or I mean,
- 42:01Speaker 12: being mayor is not just about It's not an exercise
- 42:07Speaker 12: in philosophy. And Albany is not going to allow him
- 42:17Speaker 12: to do some of this socialist baby talk raising taxes
- 42:26Speaker 12: on people. And if they do raise taxes on people,
- 42:31Speaker 12: I mean, no, I don't know where Steven Schwartzman. He
- 42:34Speaker 12: lives in the most expensive building in New York. He
- 42:37Speaker 12: lives in John D. Rockefeller, the first One's old apartment,
- 42:42Speaker 12: And I don't know where his legal residence is. But
- 42:46Speaker 12: he's a multi, multi, multi billion billion billionaire, and I
- 42:50Speaker 12: was thinking he could keep that apartment and he could
- 42:54Speaker 12: stay there five and a half months a year, and
- 42:59Speaker 12: he could moved to Florida. And and that's what a
- 43:03Speaker 12: lot of them will do if it gets real bad.
- 43:07Speaker 12: And it's already I mean, people have already left. They've
- 43:11Speaker 12: left California and they've left New York over the taxes, right.
- 43:16Speaker 4: I got a couple of friends of mine who are
- 43:19Speaker 4: from southern West Virginia. They both live in New York City,
- 43:22Speaker 4: and they both tend to be a little bit more liberal.
- 43:25Speaker 4: One of them much more than the other. And he
- 43:27Speaker 4: and I, you know, kind of text back and forth
- 43:29Speaker 4: about things going on to New York City. He seems to think,
- 43:32Speaker 4: and he's somebody that's got some money, okay. He seems
- 43:36Speaker 4: to think that people are pushing the panic button on Mondamie.
- 43:41Speaker 4: And I never asked him whether he voted for him
- 43:43Speaker 4: or not, but he seemed to think people are pushing
- 43:45Speaker 4: the panic button because of that term democratic socialist, that
- 43:48Speaker 4: a lot of the things. Much like Trump, he's going
- 43:51Speaker 4: to be able to say I'm going to do this,
- 43:52Speaker 4: do this, and this, but not be able to actually
- 43:54Speaker 4: do it.
- 43:55Speaker 12: Yeah, but his his Yeah, his rhetoric though, is pretty
- 43:59Speaker 12: and for me, it's pretty pretty dangerous.
- 44:03Speaker 4: I mean, what's the most dangerous thing you've heard.
- 44:05Speaker 12: He's an Islamist. He's a he's like, he wants to
- 44:10Speaker 12: turn New York into dearborn Michigan. And there's giantist and
- 44:17Speaker 12: there's Islamist, and Islamist is a person that wants to
- 44:22Speaker 12: go through the system but turned everything into Islam and
- 44:28Speaker 12: Suria and the whole business. And I believe that's what
- 44:31Speaker 12: he is. And of course he doesn't believe Israel should
- 44:34Speaker 12: have the right to exist.
- 44:36Speaker 4: So how does he get elected in New York City?
- 44:38Speaker 12: I don't know. I'll never figure that out. I mean,
- 44:43Speaker 12: it wasn't even closed, Danny, twenty five years after nine
- 44:46Speaker 12: to eleven. I mean, you just couldn't. You couldn't make
- 44:50Speaker 12: it up.
- 44:51Speaker 4: And it wasn't just the promise we got to go
- 44:53Speaker 4: to break? But was it? Was it just the promise
- 44:57Speaker 4: of a lot of free stuff and forced affordability.
- 45:01Speaker 12: I just think yeah, And I think it's the the
- 45:05Speaker 12: AOC effect, you know. I think it's AOC and her crowd.
- 45:13Speaker 12: And George Will said he's all for it, because when
- 45:19Speaker 12: you have a socialist and trying to do some of
- 45:23Speaker 12: the foolishness, is this guy wants to do It'll, I'll
- 45:27Speaker 12: turn people around pretty quickly.
