- 0:00Welcome back to a handsome with a blunt, penknife questions and
- 0:05answers. What?
- 0:09Who are you amazed? Yeah.
- 0:12Oh Mark, hello. Hello, you take care.
- 0:16My house. Hello.
- 0:21Okay, so this is the first episode of the little new
- 0:28hamster. Strain that's going on here.
- 0:30It's going to be questions and answers My Fabulous assistant PA
- 0:35and Technical Support. Mark Rollins will be asking the
- 0:40questions. We'll have a little discussion
- 0:42about it or try and find some kind of consensus.
- 0:45Yeah I've just found out about this as well.
- 0:47Everyone do you think a consensus is something you and I
- 0:51could possibly reach. I think.
- 0:53So, it happens every now and again.
- 0:56What? So the first round of questions
- 0:59is all Now, the 1980s I have to say thank you so much because I
- 1:06have tons of questions come in. I was quite surprised and some
- 1:10were very far from some of our silly and somewhat from Frasier,
- 1:15a lot with from frasor, how many are there from frasor?
- 1:18I don't know yet. We'll mix them up.
- 1:19I will mix them through. I've looked through the thread.
- 1:23Okay, well, would you like to kick us off?
- 1:26Okay, so first question is from Um, Dylan Reese artilleries.
- 1:32Now I thought as well while we're doing the questions, we'll
- 1:34just talk a little bit about the person Dylan recent does a
- 1:38podcast called too hot for TV accompli.
- 1:41If I can remember that, I would listen to this week is fabulous
- 1:44on this. Listen to me.
- 1:45Yeah. Isn't it great?
- 1:46Yeah. And it's invited us both forms
- 1:47her to do a podcast soon. What was it about?
- 1:52Well, he's podcast his podcast. Yeah, too hot for TV.
- 1:56Yeah, well, it's a doctor who podcast, but it's about the sort
- 2:00of spin-off media fabulously kneeling.
- 2:04So, basically, if it's not televised Doctor Who in a way so
- 2:08you know, you got your books. Yeah, audios your spin-off
- 2:14videos and stuff we thought would be comic strip.
- 2:17Sucking original do BBV commentary, can't wait and
- 2:20there, he was years back doing it and bring it.
- 2:22Books about it. Anyway, is fabulous.
- 2:24Go find to watch for TV or screws Hot For TV.
- 2:28Oh yeah, your to watch it anyway.
- 2:32So the first question is is Collins costume.
- 2:36Really a mistake or an iconic slice of 80s, goodness.
- 2:42Okay. This is a bit of a weird one,
- 2:44you know, because I think it was a mistake and I do think his era
- 2:49would perhaps be looked upon a little more.
- 2:52And lie, without that very bold, explosion of bloody colors, but
- 2:57I don't really notice it anymore.
- 2:59And it's something that I've just come to associate with his
- 3:02doctor. What would you think?
- 3:05I mean, I don't think you can blame everything on the costume.
- 3:09I think there's so it was just one of many factors like I like
- 3:13to see if I'm 19. Yeah yeah but it's just one of
- 3:16many things that you could criticize there and I don't
- 3:18think you can just blame but because he's the doctor front
- 3:21and center. In explosion of rainbow colors.
- 3:25It's just like this weird garish statement for the era or as men.
- 3:30So I think it would have helped if it had been toned down a
- 3:32little bit and it was a bit more costly.
- 3:34I think it would have helped a little bit.
- 3:36What would have been a good change too much?
- 3:39Remember, he said he wanted the Christopher Eccleston leather
- 3:41jacket. Can you imagine that?
- 3:44No, not really. Did you see that special feature
- 3:46where they put him in a black suit in the 2011?
- 3:49Yeah, well they redid the thing or yeah.
- 3:51Well the blue one or the other. Finish Blue version.
- 3:53In fact, Robert Valentine recently very handsome.
- 3:56You know said that he thought that they should have gone down
- 4:02the sort of wolves of wolves of Greenstreet know.
- 4:05What am I thinking of you know sort of 80s Banker look oh yeah
- 4:09Australian industry. Yeah.
- 4:12And I should have gone so down sort of that look because it was
- 4:15very that was very in thing in the mid-eighties.
- 4:17Yeah, what about what, you know, what David Banks will for the
- 4:20theater production? Do you?
- 4:22You ever see that one? He played the dog go with this
- 4:24always goes well, that was that was a bit suppose it was a bit.
- 4:27Second thoughts, a new adventures, really.
- 4:28Actually what I need to know where P Davison.
- 4:30He looked a bit like Peter Davis.
- 4:31Yeah, absolutely. So Dylan, we've reached a
- 4:35consensus that what I would? You know what though?
- 4:39It's just he does stick out on those big finish covers now.
- 4:41Yes, yeah, true. So yeah.
- 4:43Mistake or not. Yes.
- 4:44Or no. Yes.
- 4:46Okay. And I think even Jay and he
- 4:49said, you know, while he was dragging on a cigarette, you
- 4:52know, my hands up, I made a mistake.
- 4:58Okay, next question comes from frasor Gregory, of course, one
- 5:02of 500. Go on.
- 5:03Okay, well, the first one is okay, snog.
- 5:07Marry or feeder can of Halen pieces, find this cat food to
- 5:14Michael grade. Eric's a word.
- 5:16No, John nathan-turner. I'll figure out what straight
- 5:19where I really feel the kind of cat food to Eric's award because
- 5:23I couldn't snowgo. Marry him.
- 5:25Have you seen him? He looks like toad of toad.
- 5:28All got a massive neck, like Terrence C.
- 5:34So I'll have to have to Snug JN T because he's had two.
- 5:38It is mouth at once. Well, yeah, probably, come on.
- 5:43He's down those conventions. He was under bold Destiny was
- 5:47leaning on and who will marry. And then Michael grade, I'd love
- 5:51to marry Michael grave could on that special feature.
- 5:54But he's my bro is a grave like a great because he was really
- 6:00interesting. He goes there, goes to Michael
- 6:03grade. Why did you cancel dog?
- 6:04True, you know what he said? Well, he sect will have you
- 6:08watched it. He said, you go and watch it and
- 6:10tell me if you think that's a good use of the last as payers
- 6:13money. Yeah, so there you go.
- 6:17Okay, next question. Do you think Eric's award would
- 6:19like to eat some of her own pace?
- 6:21Is cat food? No, you know what he'd say?
- 6:24He go. This is all the fault of the
- 6:26producer, John nathan-turner. Okay, next question comes from
- 6:32all of time and space pod cast. Hello all the time and space out
- 6:35there, but we've interacted before which a sea story.
- 6:40Do you think could work really well in the new series?
- 6:45Oh my God. What a brilliant question.
- 6:47What do you think? Oh yeah, I thought I do have
- 6:52one. Well, he's been so completely
- 6:54remade like the script, but then, just everything else, you
- 6:58know, is, is no serious. Yes, we really, really like
- 7:02Enlightenment would look amazing with a natural urge, really?
- 7:05Well, they kind of did that with the special edition and I found
- 7:10something this big and bold Warrior.
- 7:11He's gay. Could you imagine that with like
- 7:13a massive budget and without that kind of shitty white, CSO
- 7:19Yes. Well, God bless you can make
- 7:21logopolis epic. I'll be cool with it.
- 7:25Rotten you say so. Because it's a lot of really
- 7:28pretty says, for this already a lot precess.
- 7:31Okay, you got to choose one. I am going to say, The twin died
- 7:39Landmark. No, no.
- 7:41Jesus Christ. Imagine trying to make that
- 7:42nowadays and condensing that actually can I walk?
- 7:46I am going to say the twin died. Lemons.
- 7:48You know why? I think if you cut it down to 45
- 7:51minutes, yeah, you have a very condensed through character Arc
- 7:56of the sixth doctor. Having a violent moment, and
- 7:58then learn redeeming himself a bit like Capaldi in his first
- 8:03episode, although that stretched along for a beer through a bit,
- 8:06a money at the screen. Imagine the Giant Gas.
- 8:08Positive cg.o. A sloshing around, are all up
- 8:11the walls. Yeah, laughing.
- 8:13Yeah. I see them.
- 8:14What's his name? The show?
- 8:16What's his name was? Charles sell the shell, the
- 8:18shell shoes on ever. Go see this movie, that's my
- 8:21cell, the shell. It was a little shell with feet
- 8:24and you'd step in maple syrup. And then start climbing up the
- 8:28walls with sticky shoes. Anyway.
- 8:30Sorry, you know, I could see that actually, yeah, to until
- 8:33Emma Perry. I'm a good man.
- 8:36Oh doctor. No, you're not.
- 8:38Crazy bird people as well. Hmm, with the sort of this
- 8:46makeup, that does something like the cat people from the one, you
- 8:50love Smith and Jones. Okay, so we got rid of we're
- 8:53going with the twin dilemma. Yeah, and you know it'll be
- 8:56fucking shorter as well. So next question is from Andy
- 9:01Parkinson. Oh, we met a Deep Pockets and
- 9:03this weekend at the BFI, what a Charming gentleman.
- 9:06Honestly, it's very effusive in his Praise, you know, form for
- 9:10podcasts. He asks the monsters in the 80s
- 9:15often get slated, sometimes quite rightly.
- 9:18So are we more forgiving of monsters in earlier decades?
- 9:23If so, why? I think they're better, I think
- 9:26than 70s monsters are better than the 80s monsters.
- 9:30You think of the sontarans in the time Warrior.
- 9:34And if you get the sontarans in the two doctors, yes.
- 9:38Yeah. So they did get worse and they
- 9:40in a way they are. Yeah, those, it's diminishing
- 9:42returns for the sontarans. But yeah, something like Smith
- 9:45store or something and you've got, I don't know, I think of a
- 9:49one-off baddie in the 70s, in the 60s before, you know, quite
- 9:53forgiving of like, I mean, the sensor Arts since rots sensor
- 9:57right on that, amazing. I think, in the 70s, they got
- 10:02the that copter or something. But if you look at them, an
- 10:04opera and then you look at the things in the Twin dilemma,
- 10:07maybe it's just things haven't actually changed.
- 10:08That much our crew of go with him and Ultra when you do, you
- 10:12know, they've sold half Mass. So we do draconians and things
- 10:15like that. The other zygons I think of that
- 10:19the criminal, wait, when the fellow was like half-plant half
- 10:22man, they did make a really what but I think in the 70s they made
- 10:27the monster a performance piece as I got in really good actors.
- 10:33So I think I think what is he saying?
- 10:35I'll do it. Well, the monster shit in the
- 10:3680s. Are we more forgiving?
- 10:38A of monsters in earlier decades, everyone's like this in
- 10:41the 80s is really shit. This is really bad.
- 10:43I know, I don't have the Merkur or something.
- 10:45They're better designed in the 70s and they're better.
- 10:48Acted bar. Okay, now I need to both of us
- 10:50to think of two monsters in the 80s that are fantastic, just so
- 10:55we're not just slacking it up. Well, I mean, I'm gonna go for
- 10:57the obvious the Destroyer, you've forgotten the he mumbles,
- 11:02but that's like right at the end, isn't it?
- 11:03When I can? Well, I'll say better, the
- 11:06ferals, which I learned almost over there.
- 11:08Liyan awful. They were really well.
- 11:10Designed and what that man in a beard.
- 11:15This like a lion. It's a man and the Indian, okay,
- 11:19and well, I'll say the 80s. I've met as well of really
- 11:24well-designed, you know, oh, from the ones from the Tardis,
- 11:29okay. Next question comes from Joe
- 11:31short called. Hello, Joe, Eric's a word
- 11:38villain Or misunderstood genius. I don't think the words errors
- 11:43award and genius belong in the same sentence.
- 11:46I know of her Revelation. Adult Lex was a bit of a fluke
- 11:50villain Why 10? I'm asking you oh yeah I can't
- 11:56stand him. I think he's terrible.
- 11:57What do you mean? I think he ruined all those 80
- 12:00stories. Are you know my thoughts on
- 12:01Eric's a word know. You all want to hear your
- 12:03thoughts on Eric's a word. He ruined every story in the
- 12:07ain't that he did. His job might dance.
- 12:11I don't, I don't think you did his job, alignment, Frontiers.
- 12:15Yeah, I know, I know. But when he gets the Collins
- 12:18Baker's time, I just don't think he was good enough.
- 12:23I think he ate was his fault that everything went wrong.
- 12:26I think, I think he is a good ideas, man.
- 12:30I don't think he's a good executor.
- 12:32So I think if you look at season 20, every story is got a really
- 12:35strong idea at the heart of the ship and turbine is exploding
- 12:38the universe, the sailing ships in space even like I only got
- 12:42taken on the doctors print and and getting them execute on
- 12:45Gallifrey. And I, that's all really good.
- 12:47Dramatic ideas of just don't think he can always, but produce
- 12:52an effect. Active scripts out of those
- 12:54ideas and I think when the scripts work in the 80s it's
- 12:59generally because the writers that is brought in are competent
- 13:02enough to do it and it isn't really much to do with him and I
- 13:07think the sort of standard of Eric's award competence is like
- 13:12the visitation and that's a pretty basic script.
- 13:18That's what I think. So, the super villain of the 80s
- 13:22is Eric's a lot. Okay.
- 13:26Next question is from James and Friends.
- 13:31Hello. James.
- 13:33Is he handsome? I can't feel the picture.
- 13:36Well, he is handsome. Hello James.
- 13:38My telephone number is 079343, and these says, what's the
- 13:43campus moment, each doctor has in the 80s, James, why are you
- 13:46asking me this question as if I know anything about camporee?
- 13:51So what's the campus moment in what?
- 13:54For each doctor in the 80s, the campus moment for each doctor.
- 14:01Oh, you know, the bit where Colin Baker walks in on messed
- 14:04around goes, I'm not having your sluggy eggs all over the
- 14:07universe. So Camp.
- 14:09I've been waiting to do with my mother that my whole life.
- 14:12Of course, I can't moment for Sylvester McCoy.
- 14:18He's not very campy, see. We're both gone quiet.
- 14:27Oh I know I know I've got one cause of mr.
- 14:29McCoy did impression? Well no I was gonna say him
- 14:31playing the spoons on Kate Amara.
- 14:34Oh, that's very camp in. Yeah, not really seem to enjoy
- 14:37it too much. Oh yeah.
- 14:40Actually very campfire out Domino Ronnie Falling all over
- 14:43the city. As me.
- 14:44Do you know I found the bit? It's a bit.
- 14:46Wary grabs males, risks and goes, Mel drove up it.
- 14:52Okay, Peter Davis. Okay, thanks Barbie camp,
- 14:55Willie. He's far too, was his masculine
- 14:58but oh no, ya don't you? When you what Twittering me.
- 15:05Yeah, when you cancel out. So squeaky voice.
- 15:07Oh, it was desirable to do. So you're spoiling my
- 15:09concentration. Okay, Jordan find one for Tom
- 15:12Baker, in season 18 to be technically 80s.
- 15:15Oh my god. Do you want a quick decision or
- 15:17at the bank? Let us not count back up top.
- 15:22I would never been to camp Woody.
- 15:24He's all man Tom Baker. I'll pay an enormous knob.
- 15:29Oh my God. Where did that come from?
- 15:31Because he's old man in a while back.
- 15:33A baby's fist. Oh my God.
- 15:36Sorry. Okay, next question is from
- 15:41Gavin, Is that muscle Gary? I'm just going to take a break
- 15:45because you put pictures of his big muscles on Twitter.
- 15:49Gavin keep putting your pictures.
- 15:51All right? The mid-80s made me a fan.
- 15:55Is that period misunderstood mid-80s.
- 15:59What's that mean? Misunderstood is that period
- 16:02misunderstood like? Well, I can say is when I first
- 16:05started hamster up those 80 stories were literally grabbed
- 16:09quicker than the Argos catalog. Like people just It was
- 16:13desperate to do. They I got left, I got about 15
- 16:16Hinchcliffe steel and about 280 stories left to do.
- 16:21He's here misunderstood I think it's very problematic.
- 16:27I think the companions are win, gee, I think the stories are hit
- 16:32and miss the production values are hit and miss.
- 16:35It can be very colorful and a bit kind of, you know, garish
- 16:39and on any sort of ugly sort of way, but it can also be
- 16:44brilliant as well. It's such a weird era is, I
- 16:47think every, every year before, you know, exactly kind of what
- 16:51you're gonna get and with the a, he's from one Story to another,
- 16:55you never know what you're gonna get and that's in terms of
- 16:58quality as well as tone genre. So is it misunderstood probably?
- 17:06Because I think some people dismiss it entirely especially
- 17:08the tail end McCoy. But I think it is still very
- 17:13good if inconsistent, not sure. I wasn't a question.
- 17:18Let's have another one from frasor then.
- 17:20Oh yes great is it's not marry avoid again.
- 17:22And which 80s talk? Story would you gladly lose to
- 17:26Ian, Levine skip? So you could bring the missing
- 17:28story from the 60s back. Oh my God, any of them though?
- 17:34I would can't watch my least favorite.
- 17:37Its story. I would gladly lose Arc of
- 17:40infinity. It's literally, the squatters
- 17:44grave. What's up fellas?
- 17:46Say. Oh yeah.
- 17:48And in the thing, it looked as quiet as the grave it still go
- 17:51on, take your clothes off and it doesn't let you say what I think
- 17:54your position. Yeah.
- 17:59I think it is basically everything that sort of rock,
- 18:03Gallifrey, technobabble continuity, and it's just really
- 18:09fucking tedious to watch as well.
- 18:11What's replacing it then? What are you getting back from
- 18:13the 60s? Or tartar have a shit?
- 18:15One back, or a good one, any missing storage mom.
- 18:17Hello, please. I'll take seven episodes of
- 18:19Marco Polo. Thank you very much.
- 18:24This is from Andy Stark and the wood Collins doctor have had a
- 18:30better reception. If the twin dilemma had been the
- 18:33first story of Season 22 instead of the last story of season 21.
- 18:39That's really interesting. What a great question because I
- 18:45don't think I don't think the twin dilemmas reputation will be
- 18:48held where no matter where is poor bar.
- 18:52If it was at the start of the season and it was all those
- 18:55stories coming immediately after sort of salvaging, the
- 18:59reputation of the Season having like attack of the Cybermen and
- 19:03Vengeance of our Arsenal that afterwards.
- 19:05Yeah, I think it would help. Actually, I think having that if
- 19:10you'll excuse me, turd at the end of season On 21.
- 19:14I listened polished heard. I quite like it is fun.
- 19:17Do you know what this window Lemma?
- 19:20That's all right. Take care.
- 19:21Enough to blow their hearts or Minds.
- 19:25It would be interesting if it was to 45 minute episodes.
- 19:28If it was in that season, that's true with ever even more room
- 19:32for character development. If it was 45, minute episodes
- 19:34with you were leading up to a cliffhanger every sort of 20
- 19:37minutes. Mr. Cliff hangers are terrible
- 19:40as well. Yeah, might be bearing two 45s.
- 19:44There's it. You destroyed my entire command.
- 19:47Now I'm going to destroy you. He was gonna kill me.
- 19:52Perry. Perry, it's terrible.
- 19:57Next question from Matt Michael. Oh Matt Michael you Dreadful out
- 20:02flirt. Go on is only the best master
- 20:05know. Delgado is the best master.
- 20:09I still think he's the boss Delgado, although I saw that
- 20:12somebody put a gift on online saying that Missy think she's
- 20:17the best. And I think Nathan popped in and
- 20:21said, yeah, Missy is the best as well.
- 20:23But I just had a recently, had a conversation with fabulous,
- 20:27Lucy, McCall, Daniel night. And Dave Rennie on a planet of
- 20:30fire commentary all about English master.
- 20:33And, you know, there was some discussion about how he can be a
- 20:35bit pantomime. Me and over-the-top, but we all
- 20:39agreed that when every turns up the entertainment value is
- 20:43through the roof and like, at points, like the end of trial of
- 20:47a Time Lords like time fly, if he wasn't in there, will can you
- 20:53even imagine? So what was the question again?
- 20:57Is he the best master? And I said no, I have been the
- 21:00best but you see suppose most of you know is the best master.
- 21:03Yeah, I'd say Delgado. Yeah, you just copied me now.
- 21:08Mom, who is the beca original? Are there these days are very
- 21:11much. Next question, from Darren lit
- 21:14roundels. Hello Darrin.
- 21:16If anybody hasn't explored lit, roundels YouTube channel.
- 21:19I suggest you get your asses over there right now and, you
- 21:22know, he's done re scores on the other colics.
- 21:25Course, he managed to a battlefield and Paradise, Alice
- 21:28sound amazing. Okay.
- 21:30A very talented man. And his question who was the
- 21:33least successful companion to Out of the 80s.
- 21:37Oh, we just in the AC is not big finish, 80s TV TV, only TV only
- 21:47okay. Then probably mail even though
- 21:50she's really Farm, she's got a room.
- 21:54What's what's less than 1? Dimensional half dimensional.
- 21:59I mean, she is flat as a shit and, but like Bonnie brings a
- 22:02lot of charm and energy and fun. And she's she's giving those
- 22:07stories a bit of oomph, but she's working with nothing.
- 22:11Like what did she ever do those computer programming?
- 22:14What did she ever do this? Linked into that?
- 22:17Well, that's because Eric's a word was off at that time.
- 22:21Jonathan Turner was it was up to him to create the thing.
- 22:23And basically, it was your pip and Jay Ryan.
- 22:25And I suppose, when Andrew can't will came in, she didn't really
- 22:27change that much. We probably maybe if she'd
- 22:30stayed another season, maybe he would have been able to do
- 22:34something with the character. But there wasn't really anyone
- 22:37on watch from out, maybe that's what it was.
- 22:39I would like to add a caveat though that if we were including
- 22:42big finish actually Mel would be somewhere near the top and
- 22:46Bonnie is phenomenal on audio and you'd probably have to agree
- 22:51with me. That Ace is the most successful
- 22:53on TV, companion of the 80s. But if we were including big
- 22:58finish sheep at the bottom, with your Sophia diesel, could get
- 23:03bonuses on audio I'm sorry for excited.
- 23:07So filled with moving on. They put a microphone in front
- 23:10of her and she forgot how to act next.
- 23:13Let's have another one from frasor given the story.
- 23:17So cancelled during the Hiatus have been released in some shape
- 23:22or form now, did we really miss out on something great or
- 23:25degrade? Actually do us a favor are what?
- 23:29What Fraser as a matter of pure coincidence.
- 23:31I just so happened to watch a documentary of that season 20.
- 23:35The missing season 23 this week and which prompted me than to go
- 23:40and listen to The Lost stories range from Big finish.
- 23:45However, I got to the nightmare fair and that's where it ended.
- 23:48So, I think any further than that of the of the three stories
- 23:53that we know, we're coming nightmare, Fair mission to
- 23:55Magnus and the ultimate Evil. No, we were missing much.
- 24:01I think it probably the nightmare Fair wouldn't look
- 24:03great. They would have pulled a bit of
- 24:04money into that and we did. Add some nice Blackpool filming
- 24:07and it would be nice to see the sick doctor and Perry having
- 24:10fun. It was going to be directed by
- 24:12Matthew Robinson, who directed resurrection and at a
- 24:16consignment. So would have been stylish.
- 24:18So Fiona coming was going to do the ultimate Evil did she say?
- 24:22And then she couldn't do anything without script.
- 24:24Have you heard that Audio? Oh are there?
- 24:26No I can't stand. The audio versions of those that
- 24:29is right that the end of episodes long then I didn't edit
- 24:34them at all. So Just real know they're
- 24:36supposed to be authentic and take by, I put a razor breast
- 24:40razor blade to my wrist. This will be the end of extra
- 24:43one ourselves. Like this gets any worse.
- 24:45I'm doing it. All right, that's authentic.
- 24:48And there's a reason why they lost.
- 24:49Yeah, but can I say as a caveat, again, I know, I talk about big
- 24:55finish a lot, but big finish pulled some probably obscure
- 25:00stories out of the mix like point of entry and Nathan and
- 25:08song of the space whale, which I thought was great.
- 25:11Why you looking like they changed the name to the name?
- 25:13That gets the truck and we get tree and the Beast below, they
- 25:16couldn't use space whale tractate as one.
- 25:18That's the time, worse all the time.
- 25:19It's terrible about the good ones.
- 25:21All right. Yeah, point of entry.
- 25:23The first sontarans guardians of Prophecy, like how they suggest
- 25:28are lost stories because they were like a one-page synopsis is
- 25:31beyond me. But those stories are are being
- 25:34brought to life by great big. Friar's.
- 25:36And, you know, they are, they are ideas that were mooted at
- 25:39the time. Well, it's funny that that
- 25:42season and around that time, the 80s is all these half-finished
- 25:47scripts, or it only got so far. They couldn't decide or
- 25:50whatever. You go back to the 70s return
- 25:52sticks. There's hardly any loss stories
- 25:55around them. There was, this is me about the
- 25:57mega, but all of them feel struttin.
- 26:00There's a few but it's just funny around Eric's a wouldst.
- 26:02I'm just saying that just seems to be all these locks ha
- 26:05Half-finished, scripts and half. We're not sure we're doing all.
- 26:09This doesn't work. We're starting again.
- 26:10Do you know? I know I think that shows I
- 26:12think that's telling I am going to be bold enough to suggest
- 26:15that Terrance dicks because he says in an interview and
- 26:18commentaries that if a script wasn't working, he'd say, he'd
- 26:21pay off the ricer and say, right, I'll make it work and
- 26:24him. He would do a top to toe.
- 26:26Rewrite outer Ferris. Ward.
- 26:28Had that in him. When I, that's what I'm saying.
- 26:29Yeah, Eric's they would be like, I'm gonna go and write something
- 26:32else will go on holiday or whatever.
- 26:34Actually said was I think Doctor Who's a really hard program to
- 26:38write for but now people are fucking PJ Hammond.
- 26:41Do you know Sapphire and steel Ryan for dogs?
- 26:44Are you and saying that those scripts?
- 26:45Weren't up to scratch? Yeah, it's very odd choices.
- 26:49In a villain of the era. Next question is from Tom
- 26:53Newsome at. We saw Tom this weekend as
- 26:56welding way, he says, who would be your pick for casting?
- 26:59A doctor in the 80s. Oh my God, that's so tough Rik.
- 27:05Mayall Fail. And you know why?
- 27:07Is because if someone has suggested that, until I saw him
- 27:11and Jonathan Creek, I would have said bullshit.
- 27:14Like all I all I really remember him from his bottom.
- 27:17And then I saw his performance in that and he's basically, he's
- 27:20a detective playing up against Jonathan Creek, boy.
- 27:24A boy. He was so sexy and smart, and he
- 27:28was basically the doctor. So I'm going to.
- 27:30Yeah. And I think he would have been a
- 27:32little bit sort of anarchic and chaotic as well.
- 27:35So, so yeah, Rik Mayall and Johnny Morris asks, what does
- 27:42Doctor Who tell us about life in the 1980s?
- 27:46Oh my yeah, that's the one. He's a fabulous, big finish,
- 27:51Royal. That's why I think it certainly
- 27:54tells us in the mid-80s that it was a very violent confusing
- 27:59place that actually was looking back at the past, quite a lot.
- 28:04And I think that a lot of that was going on in the 80s.
- 28:06Actually, I think it tells us that I don't even know on the
- 28:13right person to answer my questions.
- 28:15You know, I don't really know much about sort of the politics
- 28:18of the time. I know they're leaning into sort
- 28:21of the video nasties, aren't they?
- 28:23In the mid-80s? It certainly tells us a lot
- 28:28about the BBC politics at the time.
- 28:31They weren't interested in science fiction.
- 28:35Yeah, I've got that. I've got the part that one.
- 28:37I'm afraid and I might have that overall General Johnny.
- 28:40I'll ask that. To Gary Russell, who's coming on
- 28:43to do the enlightenment commentary.
- 28:44I'm sure he'll be a to give me a smile.
- 28:46So, for that one, and it's question from Brandon Jones,
- 28:50Brenda. Have you seen him lately?
- 28:53It's been going down the tomb. All the savings.
- 28:56Absolutely. He's wearing these tight little
- 28:58leotards and the gym. He looks amazing.
- 29:01Anyway. Sorry God.
- 29:03Which 80s. Doctor had the most consistent
- 29:05era in the DECA era. You had the most consistently
- 29:12around. Yeah.
- 29:13And for the fourth doctor, you've only got season 18 if
- 29:17you're including that says, well, I'd say it's that season
- 29:20because the fourth doctor. Yeah, but that's, that's not
- 29:23fair on the size, one year. Okay.
- 29:27If you want to say one season, who's the most consistent?
- 29:30Oh yeah. I'll say maybe Season. 22.
- 29:32It's violent and okay. Five, six, seven, seven.
- 29:36Do you know why it's Carmel and cartmell?
- 29:39He had a plan folks here at the car.
- 29:41Carmel master plan Asus after Gallifrey but we got to get her
- 29:44there first. No, I think I think he had a
- 29:48consistent tone and vision for the show.
- 29:52He wanted to make it a bit more urban about real characters.
- 29:56He wanted to ditch the concert or not have as much continuity
- 30:02and do Original Stories. And I think he sort of leaned
- 30:05into that whole like big bold comic, Book ideas approach,
- 30:12think of paradise Towers Delta and the bannermen happiness
- 30:15Patrol, but there's this they would work as Comics, you know,
- 30:19just visually they would work really well with Comics.
- 30:22So I'm going to say the Andrew can't be clearer.
- 30:26The least consistent is the area toward era across five and six,
- 30:31but we've discussed that already sort of linked to this.
- 30:33So this is from Simon heart. Who Simon hard is that Isn't
- 30:40that tall bloke. We saw the other day, they
- 30:45Davison buddy, Colonel McCoy Davison David.
- 30:52Some bacon McCoy, which is their strongest season each and why,
- 30:57what do you think? Strongest season. 21 that 22 and
- 31:0626. I might say 1900 re-time flight,
- 31:15I know but there's always one ship one in each season.
- 31:18Are you talking favor or best? And I think best, I think that
- 31:22first series especially, which is quite good is that your
- 31:24favorite as well? Not necessarily, okay, 20. 22
- 31:34and yeah 26 here. So every we don't favor it, I
- 31:37would say 21 because it's got Frontier sky and razani and
- 31:45resurrection of the Daleks all which I mean like 22, which I
- 31:49just really love. And 24 is my favorite McCoy
- 31:54year. Not strong, though.
- 31:55Unapologetically I think it's campers Christmas.
- 32:01Would free 47. Well, please have your credits
- 32:04ready and doctor doctor. I haven't won anything before.
- 32:09What is? That is melon Seventh Doctor
- 32:12from Delta and the bannermen I suppose this time Thomas should
- 32:16be going time that I left. You should do some Target
- 32:19readings. You know, you're wasted read by
- 32:27John Ford a time and the Rani, right?
- 32:31Bye. By Joe Ford's tumultuous
- 32:34buffeting Force, the doctor off his exercise bike.
- 32:38This is all doable. He's a cow.
- 32:41That's that, man. I once they're gonna Marla
- 32:43bartra, audible can touch. All right, I'm here.
- 32:50Okay, next question from Jack Koya.
- 32:53I'll check where all can I just say, j.r. promise you.
- 32:56I will be in touch about this war games, commentary soon, all
- 32:58right. If you could take one, Is a
- 33:02Tardis team and put them into one of the new Who series which
- 33:06team would you pig and what stories would you give them?
- 33:10I would want Egan in there. So it's got a beer Tegan team
- 33:13because new Teigen. Now, Janet field has got a sense
- 33:16of humor is fabulous. So I'm going to say the fifth,
- 33:21doctor Tegan and turlough. I think you could probably do
- 33:25something quite interesting with a younger dog sigh.
- 33:27So basically a bib will be, Matt Smith, wouldn't it?
- 33:31It's the young, the old man in the young man's body and then
- 33:35I'd have Tegan with a sense of humor because Chinese filled, it
- 33:39is hilarious. Yes.
- 33:41And I think you could probably do turlough justice now to have
- 33:45this sort of morally complex and sometimes slightly evil when a
- 33:50hot Ginger sort of way character.
- 33:53So what story you're going to put them in?
- 33:56I'm sorry. What script would you give these
- 33:59are complex questions, aren't they?
- 34:00Well, of course, I would absolutely love to have taken in
- 34:06unicorn under wasp. What if you thinking, you could
- 34:10replace the doctor, Amy, and Rory, and put in the Fifth
- 34:14Doctor, Tegan and turlough in Story.
- 34:17The girl, who waited with Tegan much, though.
- 34:22We're gonna just for something, even better.
- 34:24Imagine, six, dr. A In Flatline okay, Perry doing
- 34:28all the bits. Like that's her, you're so small
- 34:31and that Tardis. So I think for the sick duck
- 34:33from Perry would be before the flood and under the lake.
- 34:36I think that would work with them too.
- 34:39Yeah, I got in that she can get the cards out.
- 34:42Yay. Come on, doctor.
- 34:43I think it would be perfect. You can just pluck them out and
- 34:46put that in color black. Oh Perry.
- 34:49I'm so sorry for your loss of. He's she or whatever.
- 34:52Imagine that Cliffhanger with the doctor underwater. and if
- 34:56they are, And Perry.
- 35:29When he makes he makes a go inside the Dalek and stuff.
- 35:32I'll be funny with Nathan, alternatively, I would put false
- 35:36Doctrine adric in World enough and time just so addressed as a
- 35:42massive old blown through his chest and you'd have only Master
- 35:46there instead of Missy. Yeah, yeah, McCoy really well,
- 35:49it goes really far from. Look, we were watching all those
- 35:53new series episodes in the randomizer.
- 35:55Yeah. And every single one with
- 35:56regarding which classic doctor and Aliens would work in this,
- 36:01which is a really fun one, throw away.
- 36:02But to be honest, I do imagine that most of the time when I'm
- 36:04watching you series episode I'm glad you said that.
- 36:07When were you imagine that during those moments I'll
- 36:11squeeze gauge is going to say something else said I think that
- 36:14Christopher Eccleston series just swap out and put first up
- 36:17from dodo in the whole thing. Take outro wait.
- 36:29You were fantastic. Did your hair dryer Shadowhunter
- 36:32in first Doctrine? Dodo in doomsday.
- 36:35My child. I'm burning up a star just to
- 36:37say goodbye work perfectly for dr.
- 36:41All of you run this game. Jack Koya.
- 36:53Oh, Jack, you're a genius. Question is from Secret
- 36:56Squirrel. Squirrel.
- 37:03If one 1980 story has to be missing from the archives.
- 37:06Which one should it be missing? Yeah, we've done this already
- 37:10way that I got choose enough one now and I because the same
- 37:13question are probably say, I can't take out time lash, I'm
- 37:19sorry, some people depart with a scream.
- 37:24What do you take out Ahsoka Arc of infinity?
- 37:26That's been missing for the archive.
- 37:28Yeah. If we could have tell us naps,
- 37:33just get rid of time flight, your good work, Estella snaps.
- 37:37So it snaps on the audio recording bit perfectly.
- 37:40People have to look at all that perfect perspective shot that
- 37:43guy. Does that work?
- 37:45I'm not sure that works. Just the same way we sort of
- 37:47squint at Marco Polo's like tell us that was going.
- 37:51That's there's plain of Premier does that.
- 37:53Does that look like a desert? Okay.
- 37:56Next question is from rod. Who-who's rod, who under School
- 38:01rod, rod, who did the show, come off the rails in the 80s and
- 38:06therefore, was there some legitimacy in retooling?
- 38:12Could there have been another way.
- 38:15Oh, his friend in a Warriors of the deep quote there.
- 38:18Jason Miller would be proud. Did he come off the rails in the
- 38:2380s? Do you think it would have been
- 38:27canceled? You've Michael Graydon, Jonathan
- 38:29Powell, hadn't taken control the BBC or do you think it would
- 38:33just run because the fellow before that who was running, it
- 38:36was the controller. He was happy for it to just run
- 38:38and he had a lot of faith in John nathan-turner.
- 38:41So I think it probably would have just run.
- 38:43I do is I do think in in the rising it came off the rails
- 38:48about and that's where you got to start.
- 38:50Like, it's got to be a good script.
- 38:52That's why I say if every say would haven't stayed around so
- 38:54long. You know, it's a new script
- 38:55editor for a new doctor in. Colin Baker, claimed Eric's a
- 38:59wood for every night. I'm sorry, Omar if I know, but I
- 39:03just documentaries and stuff, I'm like, they had the Hiatus.
- 39:08He's like, oh, looking get the scripts that can get the
- 39:10scripts, and people can write you had 18 months, you would
- 39:12have been on holiday and done fuck-all.
- 39:15You've had 18 months, and you put together trial, but I'm a
- 39:17little sorry, are they real? They were turning it into our
- 39:20fucking therapy session. In 18 months and you just and
- 39:28you hadn't even finished that season before they started
- 39:30shooting, they're not the ending done.
- 39:33You had 18 months and you've been paid that whole time as
- 39:36well. I was going to suggest using
- 39:37Eric's towards a safe word but it's actually very angry.
- 39:42Okay. Yeah.
- 39:43I say it probably did come off the rails a bit but I think it
- 39:47got back on the rails in Sylvester McCoy are in terms of
- 39:51the writing and the imagination and creativity.
- 39:55So really had a bit of a Renaissance in those last couple
- 39:57years, but it was too little too late.
- 40:00As far as Michael Graves was concerned.
- 40:01He says in the Blu-ray, he thought it was cancelled after
- 40:04Colin Baker with if forgotten all the bats of mr.
- 40:06McCoy. It's like oh, did we make more
- 40:08series? So yeah.
- 40:11Yeah. The proof is in the pudding and
- 40:13the puddings Andrew cartmel. It's got a big ego and a it
- 40:18keeps making you buy books anyway.
- 40:21Next question is from, Simon catcher.
- 40:25I'll summon that women London, where you can I just say, right?
- 40:28Anybody people casting, but I think he's on fire for entirety
- 40:33time of catheral. Anyway, we met him in London and
- 40:36by this man, could Spin A Yarn. Oh man, I was in, fits listening
- 40:39to him and his boyfriend was cute as hell.
- 40:42Whiny, of sorry, I'm telling everyone about it was personal
- 40:45lives now. It's okay.
- 40:47So, he asks, how does the sixth doctor escape the heavy
- 40:51machinery? Swung at him in Mark of the
- 40:53Rani, you see his Feet. Leave the ground but then how
- 40:57and why does his Tardis key open?
- 40:58The rani's Tardis. I'll just do one other time.
- 41:00Okay? Why peripheral vision explains
- 41:04it in the script. Okay.
- 41:07And why does his Tardis key open?
- 41:09The rani's Tardis. Oh that's a design.
- 41:12Flaw they realized that all keys opened all tardises.
- 41:16That's why there was a sort of far sequence where the monk was
- 41:19in the rani's Tardis. The master was in the doctors
- 41:21Tardis, it all got a bit confusing and why is the Masters
- 41:25Tardis interior? The same as the doctors only
- 41:28black, isn't it? Why do they do that?
- 41:32It's like, he's advertising the fact that he's evil.
- 41:35Why would you do that? Looks better in Black though.
- 41:38Do you think why would you add? It's not the Cybermen, put that
- 41:42massive pictures of their face everywhere.
- 41:45Why did you advertise it? That's why the Egyptians isn't
- 41:48it? I think that was the
- 41:48inspiration. Okay anyway, all right, well
- 41:51let's pack this place pink though because I'm pretty Camp.
- 41:55Next question is from Joe. Lewallen also what lewallen that
- 42:02sure Welland. Llewellyn Llewellyn.
- 42:04Oh yeah. Sorry while it.
- 42:06I don't know. I've just said it the wrong way.
- 42:09Irish Welsh Joe? I'm so sorry.
- 42:12No, series American. I think it's Llewellyn.
- 42:14He's American, that's why I went to Allah.
- 42:16And let's do this. I'm going to answer this an
- 42:18American accent. Let's go if there was a season
- 42:2027 and 28 with the show continued its Renaissance, or
- 42:24with the BBC. Apathy and J&T burnout overcome
- 42:29cartmell, and his brand of Young Writers efforts to revive the
- 42:33show. Show wild y'all.
- 42:35This is my thoughts on this. If you go lessons that I was big
- 42:38finish season, 27, adios, there, I've terrible now.
- 42:42They are really bad but I don't think that's actually what would
- 42:45have transpired at the time would have been really nice to
- 42:48have seen a skit written out. It would have been lovely to
- 42:52have that safe safe braking scene with rain inside and she
- 42:57would have been played by Bloody Beth charm as I've it would.
- 42:59She think goodness, you think I'm Julie swallow would have
- 43:02been a great She would be perfect.
- 43:05She was very McCready. Yeah.
- 43:07She writing a brilliant Robinson.
- 43:10I don't know how she's my Star Trek Voyager.
- 43:12Is Frank Reed, isn't it? Yeah.
- 43:14No, I don't think so. I think the series of Riding
- 43:16High in 26, wasn't it? And so, I think it would have
- 43:19probably there would have been a point where I wanted would have
- 43:22tipped over, I think, but as Mark, and I have lamented on
- 43:27many podcasts, we were denied, our 90s Doctor Who it would
- 43:33have. All been like, dimensions in
- 43:35time and TV movie and we would have been so happy.
- 43:38Now, it would have been that bugs and try and crime traveler,
- 43:41it would have been kind of a bit glossier.
- 43:43The 90s was the period where they really learn how to start
- 43:46making TV Jonathan Creek. Good.
- 43:49Yeah. Get very to Lambert back to
- 43:51produce, you know, in the 90s she met Jonathan Creek in those
- 43:55looks amazing. I think they would have had a
- 43:57couple of really strong years. So, no, I never you would have
- 44:01got down here. Next question from John bin
- 44:05Saleh that's been salyer salyer. Sorry.
- 44:10Your favorite and least favorite Ott or hammy 1980s performance
- 44:15and why favorite and least favorite dual?
- 44:18Favorite least, you know TT or how many you know much about
- 44:21that if I'm not list. Who's really Ott in the 80s what
- 44:26Ken dolls? He's about to watch that scene
- 44:29of him dying once more favorite or least favorite.
- 44:33Okay? The virus Ott performers in is
- 44:36I'll be back to collect the rubbish later.
- 44:40The Crackdown Richard briers from Paradise Towers?
- 44:44That's one of my least favorite. My favorite from the 80s you see
- 44:49and see a lie. I will help myself to ear.
- 44:53Mmm mortality, he's pretty great.
- 44:59Who's your favorite favorite performance?
- 45:06Performance. Oh my god.
- 45:08Without my least. Favorite is the only as car lead
- 45:13share Ram. Sharam.
- 45:15No. That's definitely the least
- 45:17favorite, okay? He put images of as the McCoy
- 45:28But you can't bake. See if I read I should want to
- 45:31call. I cash a check.
- 45:34I know it's not Ott major but it's still it's going there,
- 45:40isn't it? But it's still good.
- 45:41Even bout time up on a lever Mi can when I could Feast my eyes
- 45:47Beauty. Next question, skipped, over
- 45:51that pretty quick, it comes from Mel, from Rob of hello malsum
- 45:58Season 22 received complaints regarding the level of violence.
- 46:02It contained. Do you feel that violence had
- 46:04already increased in season 21? Oh, yeah.
- 46:08Well worries worries that a deep has a massacre in it.
- 46:12So does Resurrection of the Daleks and caves of androzani
- 46:15face a Tegan. He's drowned.
- 46:18I'm sorry that my redeemer who is pretty violent.
- 46:24He gets shot over into the yard round in two seconds though.
- 46:28Well, I always figured maybe the cold of the water was so cold
- 46:32that he just instantly died. It was it mocks Creek some being
- 46:36a ham? Yeah, it's very quick.
- 46:39He makes his mind up very quickly, but yeah.
- 46:41So I think the violence that actually starts in the five,
- 46:44doctors with the Cyber Massacre. Well, maybe even enough shock of
- 46:49shocks the first, which of really like loss of shooting
- 46:52lots of people dying and it works then case of retire and
- 46:57resign he comes around Russian. Yeah and people love them
- 47:00though, they Resurrection was laptop at the time highest
- 47:02ratings for the year Kaiser and Regina was Massively popular.
- 47:06So you can see why they went. Maybe there's something in this
- 47:08and it's just murder a bunch of people.
- 47:10Let's not tell a story. Let's just turn the show into
- 47:12Reservoir Dogs. Mmm, did it work?
- 47:16Hmm. No, I don't think so.
- 47:19But all of our I would like to say some of those deaths in the
- 47:23Season. 22, like I absolutely love it when your car gets
- 47:28chloroformed and I adore all the deaths in Revelation of the
- 47:33Daleks. Was it, what a pretty little
- 47:35box? What does it do?
- 47:37You know, bit where Cara dies? You before me knife goes
- 47:41straight in her tummy. Yeah, some of those deaths are
- 47:43great. So I'm a bit like Toby.
- 47:46Hey I didn't really objective the violence at the time because
- 47:49that's a kid when I first watched those vhss man.
- 47:52Oh man, I was lapping it up like Justina laughing up.
- 47:55Colin Baker's Blood on the floor.
- 47:57Has a that understand your fear. But but in retrospect, is it
- 48:09really where the show should be going?
- 48:11My favorite is the grain Williams era, Which is far less
- 48:14violent, and more wind to calm And smarter for it as the
- 48:18fabulous Sarah to from to or two areas discovering.
- 48:22So to conclude, good job. Eric say a word good job.
- 48:26Are you kidding me? Be sarcastic next, Daniel night,
- 48:32best eighties companion and favorite 80s companion.
- 48:37He said to me in that last podcast will not to me to all of
- 48:40us that nobody had ever called him handsome before.
- 48:43He's a very handsome man and say, so I was And best eighties
- 48:48companion and favorite if they're not if they're
- 48:51different. But the same the best is
- 48:54probably Ace in terms of character development and
- 48:59ability to attract hot men like Mike from remembrance of the
- 49:04Daleks and Sauron from her phone rigged to more fuckable men in
- 49:07Doctor Who you will. Not me and your favorite What is
- 49:18a male? Our favorite 80s companion.
- 49:22Love now. Oh no.
- 49:23Ok fine. I'll say it s Ramona, she's in
- 49:26the season. She's in my top three
- 49:29companions. Wow.
- 49:31Yeah. Okay this one is from James
- 49:35h-hello. James H, what the hell was
- 49:38Michael Holt thinking when he wrote the weird quiz book type,
- 49:43Things about magic space science.
- 49:45Etc it with another what that though there were those J&T
- 49:50cashion's. Oh right?
- 49:52Yeah, Peter Davidson's book of weird planets you know, and
- 49:57other places and things like that.
- 50:00I think they were just trying to make a bit of Dosh and they
- 50:04succeeded because that the time Doctor Who fans just bought
- 50:07anything. But I mean at the time they're
- 50:09do it now. Okay, I've got another question
- 50:12from Simon casserole again. Okay.
- 50:14So I would hello. Where did they put the bodies of
- 50:16those shot dead inside the TARDIS.
- 50:20Who shot on the Tardis was loads of people wasn't there
- 50:23throughout the 80s. Everyone's in a leotard, is more
- 50:25than a, you know, the off Harmony at the heart of the
- 50:27TARDIS has been like a furnace that just shut the body's in
- 50:30there. I think there's a few five men
- 50:32hanging about in there as well. You know, from as sideman.
- 50:36Okay, from Kev blower, do you know what were they like that?
- 50:43You better be bloody good at giving a BJ and he did J&T have
- 50:49less creative input than any of his predecessors such as unlike
- 50:55sorry. Could you say that again?
- 50:57Did Jane T have less creative input than any of his
- 51:00predecessors, unlike Barry Philip Graham.
- 51:03Not sure what his vision was. Left to the various script.
- 51:07Editors. Yes, we know that he was
- 51:10jet-setting off to conventions, having a great time, being
- 51:12lauded said, I Heavens every single script editor.
- 51:17That's Chris phrase bid me Derek's award and Andrew cartmel
- 51:21said that Jonathan Turner did not understand storytelling.
- 51:24He could produce the show. He could put the money on the
- 51:27screen, he didn't understand it and I think he had ideas whether
- 51:33they were workable ones, who Uno's, and, you know, I want to
- 51:37do this, and I want to do this, and this will appeal to the
- 51:39fans, and this appeals to me, and probably Gary down.
- 51:42He whispered something in his ear as about, you know, the way
- 51:45you really happy. You're so low that, you know,
- 51:47like, I think I think he came sometimes would like a shopping
- 51:50list of ingredients. He wanted the show to go in a
- 51:54certain direction at times Perry, leave Perry joining Toto.
- 51:57Leaving the master in here blah blah.
- 52:00Did he have any creative input? Too much, I think.
- 52:04And I don't think he really was equipped to give it London.
- 52:12Calling asks, I mean, you've already answered this but who
- 52:17gave the greatest performance in the 80s and but he's put and why
- 52:22is it Simon roofs as hindle. So what are your thoughts on
- 52:25that performance? A fantastic.
- 52:28Really starving. And you know what really
- 52:30disturbs me about that? Promise is very childlike.
- 52:33Like its childlike Tantrums anyway he starts going mommy,
- 52:37put the lights on, it's really really scary who gets the best
- 52:44guest performers. I don't think it is so aroused,
- 52:47you know, but I do think there are some really serious
- 52:50contenders. Obviously, Jenny Thomas him in
- 52:54Revelation of the Daleks is out there.
- 52:58I think there's some fantastic guest performances in travel
- 53:02time. Lord, you know, Linda Ellingham
- 53:03Michael jstand, the McCoy era Jean Marsh, you know, the very
- 53:15best. So the very best.
- 53:17See, like in Kinder, I'd suggest that there is Hughes, is as good
- 53:23as famine drought in a very understated way.
- 53:26Are the entire cast of snake dance?
- 53:29There you go. That's my answer.
- 53:31I think there is some top drawer.
- 53:33Acting in snake dance. Dr. Nigel Fletcher, dr.
- 53:38Nigel Fletcher, apparently. So we have prescription doctor,
- 53:42what's J&T style stunt casting of guest stars.
- 53:46Do you wish we'd had, some of his are super Pollard.
- 53:51Patricia Routledge, Kenneth Williams, June Brown and Judi
- 53:55Dench to Europe, the soup. And in that murder-mystery show,
- 53:58there's been another murder. I've just made the desert and
- 54:07his face. He's in it.
- 54:08I'm sorry. Patricia Rutledge is one of
- 54:10mine. You know, I'd love to have seen
- 54:12her in Doctor Who I shouldn't him super loud as The
- 54:14Inquisitor. My buddy stand up.
- 54:17Now, do you think accused of genocide Would have been amazing
- 54:32to be in the 80s during Brett's Sherlock Holmes.
- 54:36From the said oh yeah Richard Griffiths who was mooted as I
- 54:43let potential artist mr. McCoy doctor would have been
- 54:46great in it. I loved her seen French and
- 54:48Saunders and his son constant. They would have been amazing.
- 54:52You get Patricia roundish. We be my number one, you know,
- 54:57because she's very very funny as I think bouquet, you go and
- 55:01watch her and he waiting for up and she'll break your heart.
- 55:04She's such a seriously, good actor, J.
- 55:07And T always went on about Patricia are outage, when he was
- 55:11talking about stunt casting, and bringing in comedy actors, and
- 55:15he would move while look up a treasure outage.
- 55:17Why the fuck didn't you get her in then?
- 55:19She's amazing. Yeah, I think that's a bit more
- 55:23top ones. Let's do one more showing.
- 55:27Okay, that's fine. Make it good.
- 55:29This is from James Sylvester. How might the Cartman Terror
- 55:36have developed if Colin Baker had continued as the doctor I'm
- 55:41at until I was able to make that in a recent commentary.
- 55:44I said, how interested with that, been a kind of Baker.
- 55:46I've been in season two when he would could have been as he's
- 55:4924. It's still very garish and
- 55:51colorful and a bit silly. I think.
- 55:55Imagine kind of a secret paradise hours.
- 55:57He could absolutely do that. He's as colorful as the rest of
- 56:01the story. I think it would be really
- 56:05interesting. And as some McCoy's, character
- 56:09got darker, I've loved her seen Colin Baker, go down that route
- 56:12and get some like, serious understated acting as your name
- 56:17in Battlefield. Mighty have to do it now.
- 56:23Ace I wanted you and Cho young man.
- 56:28Well, I get to the bottom of this again Magic Man.
- 56:36I think he would have been brilliant.
- 56:37I've been calling back as a fantastic actor.
- 56:39Imagine Colin Baker up against the black garlic in remembrance
- 56:42of the dollar as you would have. He and he would have brought it
- 56:44down for that as well. Yeah, but you think of the
- 56:46moments in Colin Baker's times, like, even when you goes
- 56:49planets, come and go Stars Parish, you killed Perry, like
- 56:54he can bring it down, so he could play it.
- 56:56I think way to be no more over the top than McCoy.
- 57:00No, no. Unlimited rice pudding.
- 57:03D. Well folks that's our also I'm
- 57:09bringing it to an end. What I've only got a couple of.
- 57:11Yeah I thought that was only like one bit of the thread on
- 57:13here. There's tons more.
- 57:14Well don't you worry folks, we'll be back for part two of
- 57:17the 80s QA when we're less tight, we've got more energy but
- 57:23I hope you enjoyed round one. D.
- 57:07Well folks that's our also I'm bringing it to an end.
- 57:10What I've only got a couple of. Yeah I thought that was only
- 57:12like one bit of the thread on here.
- 57:13There's tons more. Well don't you worry folks,
- 57:15we'll be back for part two of the 80s QA when we're less
- 57:19tight, we've got more energy but I hope you enjoyed round one.
