- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Cracking power playlist.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is the k Postgame Show, brought to you by
- 0:06Speaker 2: Toyota of Olympia. Now for an in depth look at
- 0:09Speaker 2: your Kraken Hockey. It's the post Game on the Global
- 0:13Speaker 2: Credit Union Kraken Audio Network.
- 0:16Speaker 3: We're back inside of Climate Plaids Arena here in Seattle, Washington,
- 0:20Speaker 3: alongside Al Koniski.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I am everet Fitsu Kracking a two.
- 0:23Speaker 3: To one statement win against the Eastern Conference leading Carolina Hurricanes.
- 0:31Speaker 3: The Cracking all the way back in January dropped a
- 0:34Speaker 3: three to two decision in that building. Outshot thirty six
- 0:38Speaker 3: to twelve in that game, Cracking outshot thirty six to fifteen.
- 0:43Speaker 3: Thirty six is the magic number for the Carolina Hurricanes.
- 0:46Speaker 3: This is just the where's my number?
- 0:49Speaker 4: Here?
- 0:49Speaker 3: This is the second regulation loss of the season for
- 0:52Speaker 3: the Hurricanes, now thirteen thirteen, two and two, with a
- 0:57Speaker 3: scoring at least thirty six shots on net. And for
- 1:01Speaker 3: Seattle it was a near picture perfect defensive performance. Structurally,
- 1:05Speaker 3: they stuck to what made them successful and a pair
- 1:09Speaker 3: of second period goals from Copolo Coco and Ben Myers
- 1:12Speaker 3: held up here tonight.
- 1:14Speaker 5: Well I mentioned the goals four on the road for
- 1:16Speaker 5: the Carolina team at two way two coming into the game,
- 1:20Speaker 5: and you know, I said, the crackerner going to have
- 1:21Speaker 5: to try and keep that closer to two, yeah, to
- 1:23Speaker 5: give them a shot in this game.
- 1:25Speaker 4: They kept it at one. So keeping this.
- 1:27Speaker 5: Very talented Hurricanes team at putting the pucket the nets
- 1:30Speaker 5: certainly at home, but even on the road to one
- 1:33Speaker 5: was fantastic. And yes, Joey to Court had a fantastic game,
- 1:36Speaker 5: but so that the guys in front of him with
- 1:38Speaker 5: you had a shot blocking that happened, good decisions that.
- 1:41Speaker 4: Were made defensively.
- 1:42Speaker 5: The only goal that happened just was a result of
- 1:45Speaker 5: a missed opportunity on a clear in front of them
- 1:48Speaker 5: by Vince Dune that ultimately they took advantage of it.
- 1:50Speaker 5: But other than that he would have had a shutout night.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Kracken pick up their fifth win in a row here
- 1:56Speaker 3: at home, now the longest home winning streak and cracking
- 2:01Speaker 3: franchise history.
- 2:02Speaker 1: They had five or four three times.
- 2:05Speaker 3: Now their fifth home win in a row Kraken since
- 2:07Speaker 3: the Christmas holiday and their last thirteen games at home
- 2:11Speaker 3: nine two and two, which bodes well for the remaining
- 2:15Speaker 3: four games of this home stamp physicality stood out here
- 2:18Speaker 3: tonight for Seattle. The Kraken outshot thirty six fifteen. The
- 2:22Speaker 3: hitting numbers almost reversed thirty one thirteen in favor of Seattle.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Yeah, and I think that, you know, typically we've been
- 2:30Speaker 5: talking about Jake and Malonson. We'll get to talk to
- 2:32Speaker 5: him here in a bit, But tonight was Jamie alexiaka
- 2:35Speaker 5: that must have been wearing Malonson Butler pads or something
- 2:38Speaker 5: like that, because he pulled out his hitting game and
- 2:40Speaker 5: I think he finished the night with ten, So big
- 2:42Speaker 5: night for both of those guys in the hitting department.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Where did you feel, I think the tide in this
- 2:49Speaker 3: game for Seattle turned after the first period, a pretty
- 2:52Speaker 3: good first period despite being outshot thirteen to seven. Can
- 2:55Speaker 3: you pinpoint a moment where you felt that the Kraken
- 3:00Speaker 3: either were the better team or you felt, you know what,
- 3:02Speaker 3: this team is gonna win this game.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:05Speaker 5: I think that anytime you get that first goal of
- 3:07Speaker 5: the game, that's that that shifts the momentum to your side.
- 3:10Speaker 5: Excuse me, It tilts the ice towards the towards the
- 3:13Speaker 5: Carolina net. And I think with Coppo Cockle getting that
- 3:15Speaker 5: first goal of the game, you know you kind of
- 3:17Speaker 5: you kind of a little bit of a your breath
- 3:19Speaker 5: out a little bit, not relax, but you go, Okay,
- 3:22Speaker 5: we've got the first one.
- 3:23Speaker 4: Now let's go get the second one.
- 3:24Speaker 5: And I think that's where the momentum started was on
- 3:26Speaker 5: that Coppo Cockle goal in the second period.
- 3:28Speaker 3: You mentioned Joey Decord here tonight tied a season high
- 3:31Speaker 3: thirty five saves here, uh for him tonight, and when
- 3:34Speaker 3: he was spectacular, he needed to be spectacular. You look
- 3:38Speaker 3: at the high danger numbers, those shots in the house.
- 3:40Speaker 3: He had to defend a lot of those, And I
- 3:42Speaker 3: mean when the Hurricanes load up that top line six
- 3:46Speaker 3: on four shorthanded at the end of the game, a
- 3:49Speaker 3: couple of big saves, including a glove save at the horde.
- 3:52Speaker 3: I mean that this was the performance that we've become
- 3:55Speaker 3: accustomed to seeing from Joey to Cord these last couple
- 3:58Speaker 3: of seasons.
- 3:58Speaker 5: Well, and we talked about that in the podcast, that
- 4:00Speaker 5: whether it was Grooby or Decord, they had to know
- 4:04Speaker 5: that they were going to face a lot of pucks
- 4:05Speaker 5: here tonight thirty six shots on goal for Carolina, So
- 4:08Speaker 5: you had to be mentally prepared that it seemed like
- 4:10Speaker 5: Joey Decord was having said that. You know, like I said,
- 4:13Speaker 5: his team didn't leave him out to dry. They run
- 4:15Speaker 5: any breakaways by Carolina tonight. There were a few two
- 4:18Speaker 5: on ones, but nothing where it was a highlight real
- 4:21Speaker 5: save that Joey had to make. He made all the
- 4:23Speaker 5: saves he was supposed to do and a few that
- 4:25Speaker 5: were challenging. But he wasn't left out to dry on
- 4:27Speaker 5: any backdoor passes either, So I thought he did. The
- 4:29Speaker 5: team in front of him did a really good job
- 4:30Speaker 5: with that. Talking about scoring first though, the stat I
- 4:34Speaker 5: like is that the Cracking have recorded at least one
- 4:36Speaker 5: point in each of their last fifteen home games, now
- 4:38Speaker 5: sixteen home games when they score first. That's good for
- 4:41Speaker 5: one of the longest active streaks in the NHL, and
- 4:43Speaker 5: it's the longest streak for the Cracking franchise. So it
- 4:47Speaker 5: just proves once again how important that first goal of
- 4:49Speaker 5: the game is.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Four more games on this home stand, Kracking looking to
- 4:53Speaker 3: keep it going against Saint Louis on Wednesday. Well, step
- 4:56Speaker 3: Balc come back one more time with take a malansin

- 7:18Speaker 3: Welcome back inside of Climbing Plage Arena alongside al Kiniski.
- 7:22Speaker 1: Everett fits you. Along with you to the locker room,
- 7:25Speaker 1: we go.
- 7:25Speaker 3: Jacob a lot since standing by following this to one
- 7:28Speaker 3: win for the Seattle Crack and Jacob, thanks for joining
- 7:31Speaker 3: us here. Man obviously a low scoring game, but definitely
- 7:35Speaker 3: not low event. Just take us through this sixty minute
- 7:38Speaker 3: effort from your view on ice level.
- 7:41Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean that's a heck of a team over there,
- 7:43Speaker 10: and we played them a month or two ago and
- 7:46Speaker 10: we realized that then, and you can just tell on
- 7:48Speaker 10: the standing. So, I mean, we knew we were gonna
- 7:50Speaker 10: have to bring our a game and just kind of
- 7:52Speaker 10: shut them down. I mean, we knew it was gonna
- 7:54Speaker 10: be a low scoring game if we're gonna win. So
- 7:55Speaker 10: I mean we did the job well.
- 7:57Speaker 5: Watson, you had seven hits tonight to your team made
- 8:01Speaker 5: Alexiak had eleven team total thirty one.
- 8:03Speaker 4: Wow.
- 8:05Speaker 5: I got to ask you, you know, seven is kind
- 8:07Speaker 5: of your number, but I haven't seen anything like that
- 8:09Speaker 5: from anybody else. Well, since you started playing with this team,
- 8:12Speaker 5: do you think your style is starting to you know,
- 8:14Speaker 5: bleed off on other players?
- 8:15Speaker 4: Yeah, I hope.
- 8:16Speaker 10: I mean this group has been awesome since day one
- 8:20Speaker 10: and recognizing me for the way I play and really
- 8:23Speaker 10: giving me credit out there. So having a group like
- 8:26Speaker 10: this makes it easy for my job to really go
- 8:28Speaker 10: out there and put my body on the line for them.
- 8:31Speaker 3: You know, you talked about the role that you play
- 8:34Speaker 3: and your routinely getting seven, eight ten hits a game.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Not too long ago, you were a fifty goal scorer
- 8:40Speaker 3: in the Quebec Major Junior League ninety nine points a
- 8:43Speaker 3: few seasons ago. Your last year of junior, was there
- 8:46Speaker 3: a switch in your style? How did you become you
- 8:49Speaker 3: know this, this physical hitting player when you're not far
- 8:54Speaker 3: removed from a fifty goal season.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I don't care what league you play in. You don't
- 8:57Speaker 1: score fifty by accident.
- 8:59Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, obviously I play with some great players
- 9:01Speaker 10: in junior, but I've always played this physical. This is
- 9:03Speaker 10: a way I love the play and couldn't play any
- 9:06Speaker 10: other way. I mean, points are going to start coming
- 9:08Speaker 10: here soon, but I need to keep my game simple
- 9:10Speaker 10: for now and just keep bringing this team energy when
- 9:13Speaker 10: it needs. And I mean the years to come, I
- 9:16Speaker 10: know the goals will start falling in for me.
- 9:20Speaker 5: I was gonna say, what with this wind tonight puts
- 9:22Speaker 5: the team back in third place? You got Saint Louis
- 9:24Speaker 5: coming in here next. Obviously that was a last coming
- 9:27Speaker 5: out of break to them. How does that feed into
- 9:29Speaker 5: the preparation for this upcoming game, knowing that obviously you
- 9:32Speaker 5: lost them within the last week, but it also wins
- 9:35Speaker 5: right now are so important.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:36Speaker 10: I think it's motivation for what they did to us
- 9:39Speaker 10: coming off the break, and I feel like we've found
- 9:42Speaker 10: our game here the last couple of games, we just
- 9:44Speaker 10: see to keep playing the same way, playing hard and physical,
- 9:47Speaker 10: and we can get them out of our building quick.
- 9:49Speaker 3: We talked to Ben Myers after the second period. I
- 9:52Speaker 3: want to get your take on the role of your line,
- 9:55Speaker 3: you and and Ben and Freddie and Wins, the role
- 9:59Speaker 3: that you you guys play that energy, physical role. What's
- 10:03Speaker 3: been said to you, what's been told to you and
- 10:06Speaker 3: your group about the way that you should play and
- 10:08Speaker 3: how important you've been to this team all season.
- 10:11Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, I feel like we kind of all
- 10:13Speaker 10: know what we're out there to do. But I mean,
- 10:15Speaker 10: obviously we've had success of putting a couple of goals
- 10:18Speaker 10: on the score shoot, which I mean when your fourth
- 10:19Speaker 10: lines bringing the energy that we can bring being physical
- 10:22Speaker 10: and then also putting a couple of goals in here
- 10:24Speaker 10: and there, it's a it's a big boost to the lineup. So,
- 10:26Speaker 10: I mean, we all love each other and love to
- 10:29Speaker 10: play hard for each other, so it makes it easy
- 10:30Speaker 10: out there.
- 10:31Speaker 5: Maybe let me ask the question a different way. Is
- 10:32Speaker 5: there a coach that you and your line makes you,
- 10:35Speaker 5: you know, like fitsaid Benny and Winter to et cetera.
- 10:40Speaker 5: Drou Is there a coach that you guys interface with
- 10:42Speaker 5: the most at practice behind the bench.
- 10:45Speaker 10: I feel like they're all pretty vocal with us and
- 10:48Speaker 10: just just letting us know what we need to do
- 10:50Speaker 10: out there.
- 10:50Speaker 4: And I mean Jr.
- 10:52Speaker 10: Has been huge at kind of giving us some feedback
- 10:55Speaker 10: before before games and telling us what we can take
- 10:59Speaker 10: to the other team in the advantages that we can
- 11:00Speaker 10: bring and the way we need a four check. So,
- 11:03Speaker 10: I mean he's been awesome. I've giving us the ines
- 11:05Speaker 10: inside scoop last one.
- 11:06Speaker 3: For me, this is now game twenty five of your
- 11:09Speaker 3: NHL career, so a lot of hockey ahead of you.
- 11:12Speaker 3: What have you learned about your game? What have you
- 11:14Speaker 3: learned about yourself from game one last year to now
- 11:18Speaker 3: game twenty five here in the thick of a playoff
- 11:21Speaker 3: race in the NHL.
- 11:22Speaker 10: Yeah, I mean, I think the biggest thing is just
- 11:24Speaker 10: my confidence just starting to grow. I mean, when I
- 11:27Speaker 10: first got up here is just trying to stay in
- 11:30Speaker 10: the lineup, honestly and just bringing my energy and all
- 11:33Speaker 10: that stuff. But I feel like as every game goes on,
- 11:36Speaker 10: I can start using a little bit of more of
- 11:37Speaker 10: my skills and not always trying to kill the guys
- 11:41Speaker 10: out there. I mean after the first period. I when
- 11:43Speaker 10: I get the get the other posings looking over their shoulders,
- 11:46Speaker 10: it's a little bit easier just to take the puck
- 11:48Speaker 10: and use some skill.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Well, hey man, thanks for the time, great game tonight.
- 11:52Speaker 3: Looking forward to more big things out of you in
- 11:54Speaker 3: this group the rest of the way.
- 11:55Speaker 1: We'll talk to you down the road.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Awesome. Appreciate it, guys, all right.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Jacob Malanson following Tonight's two one win over Carolina, The
- 12:03Speaker 3: Big Rig took the crown from him tonight and he
- 12:05Speaker 3: only had seven, didn't break the record, didn't break the record.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Records still still held by Melonson as well. If you
- 12:10Speaker 5: got a big rig gut eleven tonight.
- 12:12Speaker 3: Love those those comments by him and the way that
- 12:15Speaker 3: he plays the importance of his role. And I love
- 12:18Speaker 3: what he said. You know, we're a couple of years
- 12:20Speaker 3: or moved from a fifty goal ninety nine point player
- 12:23Speaker 3: in junior hockey, but he said, I've always loved playing
- 12:25Speaker 3: this way.
- 12:26Speaker 1: I've always loved so it's like, never forget where you
- 12:28Speaker 1: came from.
- 12:29Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:29Speaker 3: He got to this league playing physical and he's going
- 12:32Speaker 3: to continue that way as well.
- 12:33Speaker 5: I like how he called the other team of posings
- 12:35Speaker 5: due that sounds like it's right out of the Marshawn
- 12:37Speaker 5: Lynch playbook.
- 12:38Speaker 3: The opposings, the osings two one crack in take the
- 12:43Speaker 3: win over Carolina, al back over to you to wrap it.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Up well, Mamakay's key takeaways tonight. I thought the power
- 12:49Speaker 5: play obviously was an area of an opportunity against a
- 12:53Speaker 5: team that's very good on the penalty kill, but they
- 12:55Speaker 5: still went zero for three tonight. Special teams didn't factor
- 12:58Speaker 5: in on the cracking side for goals scoring, and everything
- 13:00Speaker 5: happened even strength. Joey Tocord with a big game tonight,
- 13:03Speaker 5: you knew he needed to be big. He played big tonight,
- 13:06Speaker 5: so a big part of the win comes from him
- 13:08Speaker 5: and net We talked a lot about physicality there a
- 13:10Speaker 5: moment ago with Milly, so I won't belabor the point,
- 13:12Speaker 5: but that was big tonight and discipline. I wanted to
- 13:15Speaker 5: say it to there in the third period. I didn't
- 13:17Speaker 5: say it because there's a thing called the broadcaster Jackson.
- 13:19Speaker 5: You don't want to ruin it. But the Kraken were
- 13:21Speaker 5: a perfect to zero for zero late into the game
- 13:23Speaker 5: until told them it took one after he lost his stick.
- 13:26Speaker 5: But nevertheless they killed that penalty off, and so the
- 13:29Speaker 5: penalty kill goes one hundred percent tonight, one for one.
- 13:33Speaker 5: Three Stars of the Night tonight brought to you by
- 13:35Speaker 5: Triple A of Washington. Third star goes to Coppocaco. He
- 13:38Speaker 5: had a goal. He was plus one tonight. That first
- 13:40Speaker 5: goal of the game was his that got things going
- 13:42Speaker 5: in the right direction. Second star goes to Adam Larson.
- 13:45Speaker 5: He had two assists and two of the thirty one
- 13:48Speaker 5: hits tonight for the Kraken. And then number one start.
- 13:50Speaker 5: No surprise there, Joey Decord, stopping thirty five of thirty six,
- 13:54Speaker 5: finishing the game with a ninety seven to two save percentage.
- 13:56Speaker 5: He also had the third assist on the crack of
- 13:59Speaker 5: his game winning goal. We watched the replay. He was
- 14:02Speaker 5: the one who cleared the puck around the boards and
- 14:04Speaker 5: Larson fed it up to Gadrow. Gadrou took Ben Myers
- 14:06Speaker 5: for the goals, so I'll give it to him. I'm
- 14:08Speaker 5: gonna give him the third assist on that one. Cracking Evans.
- 14:10Speaker 5: If you don't have a Triple A card, what are
- 14:12Speaker 5: you doing? You get roadside rescues plus discounts and entertainment, dining,
- 14:16Speaker 5: rental cards and much more joint at Triple A wah

- 14:24Speaker 3: over Carolina. That'll do it for us from the booth

- 14:38Speaker 11: Whatever you have been doing here for the last two games,
- 14:40Speaker 11: keep doing it. That's all I can say here the
- 14:42Speaker 11: Cracking tonight, big hits, big plays, big saves, all making
- 14:47Speaker 11: a big win. Now they are third in the Pacific Division,
- 14:51Speaker 11: five points clear of the cut line and yep, the
- 14:53Speaker 11: homestand two and oh now with a trade deadline four
- 14:57Speaker 11: days away. This is getting serious. They are getting serious.
- 15:01Speaker 11: After a two to one win over the Carolina Hurricanes.

- 15:34Speaker 12: Jason Emers here after playing seven hundred NHL games, it
- 15:37Speaker 12: turns out I have an opinion over two. Whoever is
- 15:39Speaker 12: saying trade one of them? You don't know anything about hockey.

- 19:29Speaker 11: a two to one victory over the Carolina Hurricanes, splitting
- 19:33Speaker 11: the two game season series. The crack and now twenty nine,
- 19:35Speaker 11: twenty two and nine point total at sixty seven and
- 19:39Speaker 11: the Hurricanes a twelve two or ten to zho and
- 19:43Speaker 11: two run that comes to an end tonight they fall
- 19:46Speaker 11: to thirty eight, sixteen and six point total at eighty two.
- 19:50Speaker 11: To the highlights we go. This Seattle Cracking Driver to
- 19:53Speaker 11: the net scoring recap is brought to you my Chevy Silverado.
- 19:57Speaker 11: Bring on the toughs up because with nine trims and
- 19:59Speaker 11: four available engines, Chevy Silverado is ready to accept all challenges.
- 20:05Speaker 11: Chevy Silverado your own personal power play. In period one,
- 20:10Speaker 11: no score, but it didn't mean it was exactly low event.
- 20:13Speaker 11: The Kraken leading into the bit with physicality and they
- 20:16Speaker 11: had fifteen hits in that frame, seven by the big
- 20:20Speaker 11: rig Jamie alexiak Hid certainly set a punishing tone for
- 20:24Speaker 11: much of this evening, and then they waited out their
- 20:27Speaker 11: chances and what could Copo Coco do? With over three
- 20:31Speaker 11: minutes into period two, Hurricanes.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Turn it back over two.
- 20:35Speaker 3: On one Copo Coco with Coco suits still, Copo Cocko
- 20:47Speaker 3: gets the scoring started for Seattle, sixteen thirty eight to
- 20:52Speaker 3: play in the second.
- 20:53Speaker 1: It's a one nothing fucking lead.
- 20:55Speaker 4: Well Coamo Coco gets himself at two on one.
- 20:57Speaker 5: He's got Berkeley captain Boos left, but she's on his.
- 21:00Speaker 4: On wing, going on that right side. He's left him shot.
- 21:03Speaker 4: He sells the pass to get Freddie Anderson just moving
- 21:06Speaker 4: a little bit that gives him enough daylight to put
- 21:08Speaker 4: the puck pass up one nothing.
- 21:10Speaker 11: Kracking has two goals in three games for a Capocco
- 21:14Speaker 11: since he returned from the Winter Olympics. Not too shabby.
- 21:17Speaker 11: Eighth goal of the year off the rush, beating Frederick
- 21:20Speaker 11: Anderson made it one nothing Cracking at three to twenty
- 21:22Speaker 11: two of a second. Adam Larson picked up the assist
- 21:25Speaker 11: on the play and up here the Kraken went up
- 21:27Speaker 11: to nothing. Jayden Schwartz off of a dime like feed
- 21:31Speaker 11: from Coco part to into a half openet. The gold,
- 21:34Speaker 11: though would be waved off after a coach is challenged
- 21:37Speaker 11: by Carolina for offs side, but right back come the
- 21:40Speaker 11: Kraken over eight minutes in with the Ben Myers line.
- 21:44Speaker 3: Myers right side for Freddie Gaudreau back is tot Myers
- 21:47Speaker 3: tips it off.
- 21:57Speaker 1: Ben Myers crashes.
- 21:59Speaker 3: The banks on the goal that should stand it say
- 22:04Speaker 3: two nothing seeat a.
- 22:06Speaker 1: Lead eleven twelve to play.
- 22:08Speaker 4: In the second.
- 22:09Speaker 5: Pariod, all starts to at the defensive end with a
- 22:11Speaker 5: good clear by Joey Decor. Larson gets the puck up
- 22:14Speaker 5: to Myers, who goes down that right side with Gatrow
- 22:18Speaker 5: Gadrou puts it on net.
- 22:20Speaker 4: Myers gets a piece of it and then on the.
- 22:22Speaker 5: Second attempt put past credit Freddy Anderson.
- 22:26Speaker 4: It's now see nothing.
- 22:29Speaker 11: Seeat that line and embodiment of what the krackhead need
- 22:32Speaker 11: to hear for a night like this, physicality and the
- 22:35Speaker 11: smart and simple plays and Ben Meyer's finishing it off
- 22:38Speaker 11: with grit at the front of the net at eight
- 22:40Speaker 11: forty eight six goal of the season. Frederick Gudreau. Adam
- 22:44Speaker 11: Larson as well had the assist, Larson's second assists of
- 22:47Speaker 11: the night and give credit though he didn't make the
- 22:48Speaker 11: score sheet, but Jacob Allanson with a sharp bullet like
- 22:52Speaker 11: pass to begin to play out of the zone. Little
- 22:55Speaker 11: plays like that got the cracking moving with momentum and
- 22:58Speaker 11: Millonson is certainly a big part of that play to
- 23:00Speaker 11: help build a tow to nothing lead for the Kraken
- 23:02Speaker 11: on their side at that point eight forty eight in
- 23:05Speaker 11: the period two. But the Krakens certainly not out of
- 23:07Speaker 11: the woods, just shit. As the Hurricanes we're looking to
- 23:10Speaker 11: respond lighton period two as well.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Martin Hook wrapped up behind the goal by Larson loose buck,
- 23:16Speaker 3: Ealer shoots, Healers scores. Nikolai Healer is a risk shot
- 23:22Speaker 3: from the right circle, beats Joey the cord on the
- 23:26Speaker 3: twenty fifth shot of the night for the Hurricanes ninety
- 23:29Speaker 3: seconds to go in the second two on Hurricanes get
- 23:32Speaker 3: on the board.
- 23:33Speaker 11: And you could feel for the first time this evening
- 23:35Speaker 11: a chill entering the building as a Kraken. Their work
- 23:39Speaker 11: in a good spot, but not complete just yet, as
- 23:41Speaker 11: Nikolai Eeler's converting out the Vince Done turnover at eighteen
- 23:44Speaker 11: thirty second goal of the season or a very bigger
- 23:47Speaker 11: part than sixteen goal the season. In the second period,
- 23:50Speaker 11: Jordan Martin Hook Sean Walker had the assist on the
- 23:53Speaker 11: play to make it to one in favor of the Kraken,
- 23:57Speaker 11: but the Hurricanes were back in the game, leading us
- 23:59Speaker 11: now out into our cors Light shillless moments of the

- 24:26Speaker 11: here of this one.
- 24:30Speaker 3: Here is Fetchnakav centering a feed in front, Nakeisha high
- 24:33Speaker 3: slot Oho drives. Joey Decord makes the same through heavy.
- 24:39Speaker 11: Traffic in front and to core, turning at nine saves
- 24:43Speaker 11: on nine shots in that third period as well, but
- 24:46Speaker 11: the krack and also going down a man after Ellie
- 24:49Speaker 11: Tolvenen called for holding an eighteen thirty one and what
- 24:52Speaker 11: could the penalty kill do to try to hold down
- 24:55Speaker 11: the Forts in the final seconds of this game.
- 25:02Speaker 3: Two to one, Seattle up to the line, Costas bear
- 25:05Speaker 3: down the slot. That's shot deflecting high over the goal,

- 26:02Speaker 11: a new franchise high and a two to one victory
- 26:04Speaker 11: over the Carolina Hurricanes, splitting this head to head series.
- 26:07Speaker 11: Final shots on NET thirty six fifteen in favor of
- 26:10Speaker 11: the Hurricanes, but pretty impressive though, many of those shots
- 26:13Speaker 11: coming from the outside of the Krack and certainly needing
- 26:16Speaker 11: Joey to cord in the last moments, and he was
- 26:19Speaker 11: solid as ever to get the win thirty five saves

- 37:04Speaker 11: Well, I think it's safe to say that's a proven
- 37:06Speaker 11: win right there, the krack and not got the Hurricanes
- 37:09Speaker 11: two one. As we are live at Tom's watch Bar,
- 37:11Speaker 11: Mike Benton alkiniski with you cracking fans. The ice may
- 37:14Speaker 11: be cold, but the energy at Tom's watch Bar is electric.
- 37:18Speaker 11: Two steps from climbing Pledge Arena, Tom's watch Bar, all
- 37:22Speaker 11: the sports, all the time. I want to hear from
- 37:24Speaker 11: you right now. What's your instant emotion from this game?
- 37:27Speaker 11: Your instant reaction from a two to one crack and
- 37:30Speaker 11: win over the Carolina Hurricanes? How serious now is this
- 37:34Speaker 11: team for the trade deadline? How serious is this team now?
- 37:38Speaker 11: In the playoff race? Four nine four five to one
- 37:42Speaker 11: on the Tacoma Dodge text line again Texas right now
- 37:45Speaker 11: four nine four five to one ALCONISKI been a while
- 37:49Speaker 11: here since we've been these two seats together before the break.
- 37:53Speaker 11: At Tom's watch, bar I literally aged one year since then,
- 37:56Speaker 11: by the way, I literally.
- 37:59Speaker 4: Exactly me.
- 38:00Speaker 11: I guess you can do that here during the staycation
- 38:02Speaker 11: part of the Olympic break. My goodness, I mean, I
- 38:06Speaker 11: have to wrap my head around this. Just from this standpoint,
- 38:09Speaker 11: if you had to win a game like this, you
- 38:12Speaker 11: had to have grit, you had to have physicality, you
- 38:15Speaker 11: had to have goaltending check, check and check. In the
- 38:20Speaker 11: hit category tonight, thirty one thirteen block shots twenty three
- 38:25Speaker 11: to seven, both in favor of the Kraken. Joey Decord
- 38:30Speaker 11: thirty five saves on thirty six shots. But if you
- 38:33Speaker 11: look at the analytics, my goodness, the pendulum didn't just
- 38:38Speaker 11: swing the other way. It almost broke. It almost broke.
- 38:42Speaker 22: Shot attempts at five on five. My goodness. I mean
- 38:45Speaker 22: you would almost kind of assume that they got caved in.
- 38:48Speaker 22: But tonight the Kraken did what they had to do
- 38:51Speaker 22: because while Carolina got their shots on nip, it was
- 38:55Speaker 22: almost kind of like it was prophecy at a head.
- 38:57Speaker 22: Coach Lane Lambert you'd take. You let them fire over
- 39:02Speaker 22: and over from the outside, but keep things out of
- 39:04Speaker 22: the middle. And to me tonight they were fantastic in
- 39:08Speaker 22: getting that done here this evening.
- 39:09Speaker 5: Well, you think about the only goal they scored, it
- 39:11Speaker 5: was just a missed play in front of a Joey
- 39:13Speaker 5: Decord where the puck was attempted to be passed out
- 39:16Speaker 5: in front by a came player. I think it was
- 39:18Speaker 5: stalled from behind the net. He whiffed on the pass
- 39:21Speaker 5: and the puck was slow enough where Vincetunn had a
- 39:24Speaker 5: chance at it, just miss clearing the pucket and Eelers
- 39:26Speaker 5: picked it up and put it in the net. But
- 39:28Speaker 5: other than that, very clean in front of Joey Tocord,
- 39:31Speaker 5: not only in keeping pucks to the outside, but clearing
- 39:34Speaker 5: bodies the blue line for the krack and played really
- 39:37Speaker 5: well making sure that Joey Decord could see all the
- 39:39Speaker 5: shots that were coming his way. So a great team
- 39:43Speaker 5: defense effort, and that's absolutely a big part of the
- 39:46Speaker 5: identity of this team.
- 39:48Speaker 11: We are expecting to go to head coach Lane Lambert
- 39:51Speaker 11: in a matter of minutes here again four nine, four
- 39:54Speaker 11: five to one on the Tacoma Dodge text line. The
- 39:57Speaker 11: Krack and getting a goal from Coppo Coaco two goals
- 39:59Speaker 11: by the way in three games for him out of
- 40:01Speaker 11: the Olympic break. Also Ben Myers eventual game winning goal,
- 40:05Speaker 11: My goodness, that was apropos, with Freddie Gudrou and Adam
- 40:09Speaker 11: Larson setting him up. And then as you mentioned, Nikolai
- 40:12Speaker 11: Eiler's goal late in period two, the only one that
- 40:14Speaker 11: Carolina got on the board. But I want to go
- 40:17Speaker 11: back here to the Ben Meyers goal, where again this line,
- 40:22Speaker 11: the physical presence that they bring, you cannot ignore it anymore.
- 40:27Speaker 11: They are virtually in the category of you cannot take
- 40:30Speaker 11: them out of the lineup. And then I think about
- 40:34Speaker 11: not just the fact that Myers went toward the front
- 40:37Speaker 11: of the goal to outwill and out man Carolina to
- 40:40Speaker 11: get a Lewis puck, but also where that play began.
- 40:44Speaker 11: Jacob Awanson is not on the score sheet for that goal,
- 40:47Speaker 11: but that play does not happen without him and the
- 40:51Speaker 11: bullet light tape to tape pass he made under Durestic
- 40:54Speaker 11: at that puck moving.
- 40:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 40:55Speaker 5: Absolutely, And I mentioned on the post game with Effett
- 40:59Speaker 5: that I think Joey the Cord should get the third
- 41:01Speaker 5: or fourth assystem that goal. Because it started from behind
- 41:03Speaker 5: the net where he cleared the puck around the around
- 41:06Speaker 5: the wall. It eventually got to Larson, who fed it
- 41:08Speaker 5: up to Gudrou and then to Ben Myers for the goal.
- 41:10Speaker 5: But the physicality of Milansen is what starts that whole
- 41:14Speaker 5: situation from being able to happen. And it's hard sometimes
- 41:17Speaker 5: to draw to connect the dots on the physicality. You
- 41:20Speaker 5: just see a guy pasting somebody in the middle of
- 41:22Speaker 5: the ice or a hit behind the net. But sometimes
- 41:25Speaker 5: it causes you to make a faster decision than you
- 41:27Speaker 5: want to make. Sometimes it causes you to make a mistake,
- 41:29Speaker 5: and those faster decisions, those mistakes that are made lead
- 41:32Speaker 5: to scoring opportunities. So you know, guys like Jacob Mallans
- 41:36Speaker 5: and Ben Myers, they know that that's a big reason
- 41:38Speaker 5: why they want to play that way.
- 41:39Speaker 11: Malanson, with twelve minutes and twenty seconds of ice time
- 41:43Speaker 11: here seventeen shifts in a game like this and in
- 41:47Speaker 11: conditions of early March where we are officially now in
- 41:51Speaker 11: crunch time and you're facing the top team in the
- 41:53Speaker 11: Eastern Conference, means if you're getting twelve to twenty of
- 41:56Speaker 11: ice time and then getting seven heads hits as well
- 42:01Speaker 11: on this game two blog shots as well. You're being
- 42:04Speaker 11: put in high leveret situations, which means you're earning the
- 42:07Speaker 11: trust of your head coach over and over and that
- 42:09Speaker 11: trust keeps growing.
- 42:10Speaker 4: That it absolutely does, and that's all you're trying to do,
- 42:12Speaker 4: you know. Uh uh.
- 42:14Speaker 5: We talked to Malonson after the game and he used
- 42:18Speaker 5: he used the phrase opposings as as the players that
- 42:21Speaker 5: he was hitting. It made me think of Marshad Linch.
- 42:24Speaker 5: I don't know why, but it just sounded sounded part of.
- 42:26Speaker 4: It he was last week. Yeah, view of us too.
- 42:31Speaker 5: But you know, Monson understands that part of the game.
- 42:34Speaker 5: It's not something that you you you go out and
- 42:37Speaker 5: look for regardless of any situation. He knows it's important
- 42:40Speaker 5: to come out that way at the start of the game.
- 42:42Speaker 5: The last two games, the last two wins, the fourth
- 42:44Speaker 5: line has started the games. There's a reason for that.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 42:47Speaker 5: It's it's energy, it's physicality, it's sitting in the tone.
- 42:50Speaker 5: I think sometimes it leads to other players playing physical
- 42:53Speaker 5: see above. Jamie Alexiak with eleven hits on the game
- 42:56Speaker 5: tonight didn't break the title that's still held by Jacob
- 42:59Speaker 5: Monson with twelve in a game earlier this season. But
- 43:02Speaker 5: it causes other players to play that way, and Malanson
- 43:05Speaker 5: knows that, and he knows that if you get three
- 43:07Speaker 5: or four in the first period and you get to
- 43:09Speaker 5: two or three in the second period, all of a
- 43:11Speaker 5: sudden the third period, you don't need to be hidden
- 43:12Speaker 5: as much because guys are looking over their shoulder, they're
- 43:15Speaker 5: making decisions faster than they want to make, they're making mistakes,
- 43:18Speaker 5: and sometimes you can still pucks off their sticks sticks,
- 43:20Speaker 5: which is exactly what Malanson said.
- 43:22Speaker 11: Keeping coming, folks, we get some reaction already pouring in
- 43:25Speaker 11: right now on the Tacoma Doags text line four nine
- 43:27Speaker 11: four or five one. I want to get your instant
- 43:29Speaker 11: emotions here and instant feedback from a two to one
- 43:32Speaker 11: crack and win over the Carolina Hurricanes again four nine,
- 43:35Speaker 11: four or five one right now. We'll get to your
- 43:37Speaker 11: reaction here momentarily, and we'll get to Jamie Alexiak very shortly,
- 43:42Speaker 11: as this was also a very important part of the
- 43:46Speaker 11: storyline here for tonight. Al And I think for me
- 43:49Speaker 11: going back, two things that gave me, I think a
- 43:52Speaker 11: glimmer of hope in this game, and that kind of
- 43:55Speaker 11: raised my eyebrow a bit. Number one, Rod Brendemore's comments
- 44:00Speaker 11: at Morning Skate today and many that his team was sluggish.
- 44:04Speaker 11: This was their first game of a four game road trip,
- 44:07Speaker 11: and if there was any window, any sliver of a
- 44:11Speaker 11: door opening here to jump all over the Carolina Hurricanes,
- 44:15Speaker 11: it was tonight because of the conditions where they just
- 44:19Speaker 11: got off the plane. And he admits that they're feeling
- 44:21Speaker 11: sluggish in mornings skate for a team that has got
- 44:24Speaker 11: to skate and play with pace to win. Oh, then
- 44:28Speaker 11: you get to I think what you just reference as well,
- 44:32Speaker 11: starting the Ben Meyers line out there, that was Lane
- 44:36Speaker 11: Lambert wasting zero time in sending a message of what
- 44:40Speaker 11: he wanted to bring out of this team.
- 44:42Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:42Speaker 5: I mean, if that's a sluggish Carolina Hurricanes hockey team,
- 44:45Speaker 5: lookout when that team's not sluggish, because I thought they
- 44:47Speaker 5: were playing fast tonight. But to your point, to Ron
- 44:50Speaker 5: Brendanmore's point, this team played in Raleigh, North Carolina on
- 44:54Speaker 5: Saturday night. They beat Detroit five to two, a healthy win, folks.
- 44:58Speaker 5: That was two days ago. And normally, when you leave
- 45:01Speaker 5: a time zone three hours ahead, which is what Carolina is,
- 45:05Speaker 5: you get two days to travel, usually leave two days
- 45:08Speaker 5: before the game.
- 45:08Speaker 4: They didn't.
- 45:09Speaker 5: They left Sunday morning, got here Sunday afternoon, Sunday evening,
- 45:12Speaker 5: and now they play here tonight Monday. So as a player,
- 45:16Speaker 5: you've got excuses to make there. If you want to
- 45:17Speaker 5: say your sluggish, we didn't have as much time as
- 45:19Speaker 5: we normally have.
- 45:20Speaker 11: Again four nine, four or five one, tell us your
- 45:22Speaker 11: immediate emotions here in reaction here from this win to
- 45:24Speaker 11: one cracking over the Carolina Hurricanes. Mike Betton alkiniski with
- 45:28Speaker 11: you back at Tom's watchbar. So we get to again
- 45:31Speaker 11: the million dollar question really of the day of the week,
- 45:36Speaker 11: and virtually here of the season. What are the Seattle
- 45:39Speaker 11: cracking with now twenty two games left right now in
- 45:44Speaker 11: the regular season. I understand maybe from the twenty thousand
- 45:48Speaker 11: foot view back in November, it's early. You're up against
- 45:53Speaker 11: a young and high paced, high octane dug squad. Here
- 45:57Speaker 11: come the Sharks and Macklins Celebrini, a very very pesky bunch.
- 46:01Speaker 11: They're built here for the long haul. The Kings play
- 46:04Speaker 11: a tough system. Oh just watch out. The Winnipeg Jefs
- 46:08Speaker 11: might be making a run here. I don't think that's
- 46:10Speaker 11: gonna happen here.
- 46:11Speaker 4: This is where they have to go back and again,
- 46:12Speaker 4: twenty two games.
- 46:13Speaker 1: You're keeping receipts, but I like to go back and.
- 46:16Speaker 4: Look at who had the CRACKETL position.
- 46:19Speaker 11: I'm leading up here to this we get to and
- 46:21Speaker 11: now we're hearing, oh, well, Thanksgiving isn't the check point?
- 46:25Speaker 4: Now?
- 46:26Speaker 11: I think to me, that's kind of moving the goalposts here.
- 46:27Speaker 11: But December, what are they really all about?
- 46:31Speaker 4: January?
- 46:32Speaker 11: What are they really all about?
- 46:34Speaker 4: Olympic break?
- 46:35Speaker 1: What are they really all about?
- 46:37Speaker 11: Each and everyone virtually of those checkpoints has shown they
- 46:42Speaker 11: are a playoff team, folks. This is a playoff team
- 46:46Speaker 11: with twenty two games left. So now the question bears
- 46:50Speaker 11: heading into later on this week at the trade deadline,
- 46:54Speaker 11: how much do you need to add to really put
- 46:57Speaker 11: yourself in position? A?
- 46:58Speaker 5: Well, I think I think you need to add. Of
- 47:01Speaker 5: course you always want to add, but do you need
- 47:03Speaker 5: to add? They want to? But do you need to?
- 47:06Speaker 5: That's what That's what the question you asked. And you know,
- 47:09Speaker 5: the thought is, well, look at the team and how
- 47:11Speaker 5: they got here and that sort of thing. Would you
- 47:13Speaker 5: like to add?
- 47:13Speaker 4: You think? Yeah?
- 47:14Speaker 5: I think I think you would. I would like to
- 47:16Speaker 5: add more scoring up front. Two one games are great.
- 47:18Speaker 5: I'd rather win four to one. But you know, so,
- 47:21Speaker 5: if you're going to add something, I think this team
- 47:23Speaker 5: has structured well enough defensively, they're structured well in goal
- 47:26Speaker 5: goal good enough to be a playoff team. I think
- 47:30Speaker 5: one more top six player, which you've got to give
- 47:34Speaker 5: up to get that. That's up to the gms of
- 47:36Speaker 5: both teams to figure out. But if I was going
- 47:38Speaker 5: to request something, that would be it. But uh, as
- 47:42Speaker 5: far as playoffs go, you just saw a playoff game tonight,
- 47:45Speaker 5: a two to one win.
- 47:46Speaker 11: I don't know what else they have to prove to
- 47:48Speaker 11: anybody still doubting right now.
- 47:50Speaker 5: I'm just saying that that that that the way the
- 47:54Speaker 5: game went tonight, the penalty kill right at the end
- 47:57Speaker 5: of the game, that the edge of your seat two
- 47:59Speaker 5: to one height win. That is a playoff game, as
- 48:02Speaker 5: Everett said, that's a game two of the first series.
- 48:05Speaker 5: And if this team can play like that, I'm looking
- 48:07Speaker 5: at the shot attempts seventy one to twenty one, Carolina's favorite.
- 48:11Speaker 5: You can play in a game where a team's taking
- 48:13Speaker 5: seventy one shot attempts against your twenty one and come
- 48:16Speaker 5: out on top. That's a playoff game.
- 48:18Speaker 11: We heard about this back in September and October. If
- 48:21Speaker 11: you can find a way to build a team or
- 48:24Speaker 11: build a structure around a team that can win three
- 48:26Speaker 11: two two one, get goaltending, get pedalty killing at the
- 48:29Speaker 11: right time. We saw all of this here for this evening.
- 48:32Speaker 11: You don't have to win the analytics battle every night.
- 48:36Speaker 11: It certainly helps. Pop possession is a big part of that,
- 48:38Speaker 11: and then those numbers certainly show. But again, if you
- 48:41Speaker 11: can find consistent goaltending, if you can find the right
- 48:44Speaker 11: kind of plays, if you can lock matters down when
- 48:47Speaker 11: you have a lead, this is where you're finding the
- 48:50Speaker 11: winning formula for what has been a crazy season because
- 48:54Speaker 11: of the Olympic break schedule as well. Now we're seeing
- 48:57Speaker 11: teams come out of the break with injury. They might
- 49:00Speaker 11: be sluggish as well, but the krack and had the
- 49:03Speaker 11: advantage of getting a lot of players some rest and
- 49:06Speaker 11: now we're seeing them finding ways to win games the
- 49:10Speaker 11: best way they can right now.
- 49:11Speaker 5: Yeah, and then that's that's the mindset you want to
- 49:14Speaker 5: be in. And you're right, Mike, the analytics are great
- 49:17Speaker 5: and sometimes they can help tell the story. I don't
- 49:20Speaker 5: think it's the entire story fits and I talked about
- 49:22Speaker 5: that during the broadcast, that the stats didn't lean up
- 49:26Speaker 5: to our line up to what we were seeing on
- 49:28Speaker 5: the ice. It looked like Seattle was getting a lot
- 49:30Speaker 5: better scoring opportunities in the first period than Carolina was.
- 49:33Speaker 5: The stats didn't line up line up to that, but
- 49:35Speaker 5: they end up winning the game two to one. So
- 49:37Speaker 5: taking advantage of their opportunities when they got them was
- 49:40Speaker 5: was the difference between what the stats said and what
- 49:42Speaker 5: the actual outcome was.
- 49:43Speaker 11: Because the trade deadline is four days away, a great
- 49:46Speaker 11: chance here to tease for you. We have crack and
- 49:47Speaker 11: weekly tomorrow night myself al ever, it fits you as well.
- 49:50Speaker 11: Dave Panyota of the four period one of the most
- 49:53Speaker 11: respect to NHL insiders. He'll be with us as well.
- 49:56Speaker 11: But earlier today he had a report teams ab checked
- 49:58Speaker 11: and he said on Elie, but unless it's an overpayment,
- 50:02Speaker 11: he's being told the Kraken are not planning to move
- 50:05Speaker 11: him or other pending UFAs the team is focused on
- 50:09Speaker 11: making the playoffs. And adding that from day Pan Yoda
- 50:13Speaker 11: of the fourth periods, so it really seems like it's
- 50:16Speaker 11: all systems go right now. We'll get more word from
- 50:19Speaker 11: day Pan Yota up here for tomorrow. But again, who
- 50:22Speaker 11: could be out there maybe as a top six upgrade.
- 50:25Speaker 11: Jordan Kyrou's name is out there, Robert Thomas's name is
- 50:28Speaker 11: out there. Where would you like to see the man?
- 50:31Speaker 11: Basically as far as the name that could be had
- 50:33Speaker 11: here by trade deadline time on Friday, Texas here at
- 50:36Speaker 11: four nine four or five to one. On the Takoma
- 50:38Speaker 11: Doadge text line, we're gonna get one check of this
- 50:40Speaker 11: before we take a break here at Tom's watchbar, and
- 50:44Speaker 11: we get one here for the two of six saying yes, yes, yes,
- 50:47Speaker 11: they must add just doing nothing would be disappointing. That
- 50:50Speaker 11: from the two OHO six not one here for the
- 50:52Speaker 11: two of six separately is saying, great win, but the
- 50:55Speaker 11: Kraken can't continue to be a team without offense. They
- 50:58Speaker 11: play very well, but they lack a true playmaker or
- 51:01Speaker 11: goal scorer. That from the two to OHO six three
- 51:03Speaker 11: six zero is saying, this is the kind of game
- 51:05Speaker 11: that you need to win if you're gonna make the playoffs.
- 51:07Speaker 11: Here love the effort here for the night. That from
- 51:09Speaker 11: dana Issaquaff and the three six.
- 51:11Speaker 5: Zero I mean I think both of them are right, Like,
- 51:13Speaker 5: these are the kind of games that you need to
- 51:14Speaker 5: win if you're going to go into the playoffs. You
- 51:17Speaker 5: need to be able to win games that maybe you're
- 51:19Speaker 5: not supposed to win. The stats and the analytics don't
- 51:21Speaker 5: say you're supposed to. But having said that, you also
- 51:24Speaker 5: need a guy that can sometimes put the team on
- 51:26Speaker 5: his back, and it might be a while before this
- 51:28Speaker 5: cracking team sees that guy. So what's the next best
- 51:31Speaker 5: thing is you build depth. You build guys that you
- 51:34Speaker 5: know our twenty goal scorers you know are forty point
- 51:37Speaker 5: fifty point guys that are that are second line guys,
- 51:40Speaker 5: third get lift, third line guys, and you look for
- 51:42Speaker 5: those maybe one year rental players who might be out
- 51:46Speaker 5: there to try and get you over that hump until
- 51:48Speaker 5: you can get that carry the game on your back
- 51:51Speaker 5: kind of guy again.
- 51:52Speaker 11: Crack and Knock off the Hurricanes two one. The party
- 51:54Speaker 11: continues here live at Tom's wahpar. But we're not done
- 51:57Speaker 11: checking your text right now, so hit us up for
- 52:00Speaker 11: five one via the Dakoma DOADJS text line again four
- 52:04Speaker 11: nine four five one more after this This is talking
- 52:07Speaker 11: kracking on ninety three to three KJRFM.
- 52:11Speaker 2: If you've got to come in about tonight's kracking game,
- 52:14Speaker 2: make sure we hear about it. Just text us at
- 52:17Speaker 2: four nine four five one. Now back to Tucking Kraken
- 52:20Speaker 2: with Mike Benton on Sebastiana ninety three point three kjr.
- 52:25Speaker 3: FM, Sebastianajo through center three on three, Hurricanes are in,
- 52:31Speaker 3: Jarvis take it out by Alexiak and Jarvis is down.
- 52:35Speaker 1: That was an inadvertent knee on me hit and Jarvis
- 52:38Speaker 1: slow to get.
- 52:39Speaker 11: Up a clean hit as well as Jarvis missing a
- 52:43Speaker 11: bit would come back into the game. But that may
- 52:45Speaker 11: be the biggest hit that punctuated eleven I repeat eleven
- 52:50Speaker 11: hits by the big Rick Jamie Alexiak tonight three block
- 52:54Speaker 11: shots as well krack and beat the Hurricanes two to one,
- 52:57Speaker 11: and then once again in check out the Dakomadash text
- 52:59Speaker 11: line the three saying Alexiak for a player of the game,
- 53:02Speaker 11: he played huge.
- 53:03Speaker 4: Yeah, he did play huge.
- 53:05Speaker 5: He used that big six foot seven frame to put
- 53:08Speaker 5: some players in their back tonight. Whether it was open
- 53:10Speaker 5: ice like that Jarvis hit or along the wall. Robinson
- 53:13Speaker 5: was the receiver of a big hit tonight. I think
- 53:15Speaker 5: I think it was from flurry, but that physicality from
- 53:18Speaker 5: the defenseman as a forward, I played forward as a forward.
- 53:22Speaker 5: When you see a lot of that physicality in the
- 53:23Speaker 5: first half of the game, you're thinking about it when
- 53:25Speaker 5: you're crossing that blue line. I'm certain that Jarvis was
- 53:28Speaker 5: thinking about that the next time he came down the ice,
- 53:30Speaker 5: and yeah, it looked like it could have been knee
- 53:31Speaker 5: on knee, but upon further review you could see how
- 53:35Speaker 5: Jimmy Alexiak had to lower his body down to try
- 53:38Speaker 5: and hit shoulder to shoulder and that's exactly where the
- 53:40Speaker 5: contact was made.
- 53:41Speaker 11: From Reese via the two five to three in Kent
- 53:45Speaker 11: saying love the physical play here by us, and how
- 53:47Speaker 11: about thirty five says from Joey to Cord beating the
- 53:50Speaker 11: best team in the East and those pesky Hurricanes. Again,
- 53:54Speaker 11: that from Reese in Kent Joey to Cord is certainly
- 53:56Speaker 11: a big part, especially in the final moments here of
- 53:59Speaker 11: this to one crack and win over the Hurricanes, a
- 54:02Speaker 11: crack and again two and zero on the six game
- 54:04Speaker 11: homestand their point cushion now five points. They are a
- 54:08Speaker 11: third place in the Pacific Division. Because the Avalanche have
- 54:12Speaker 11: just beaten the Los Angeles Kings four too, so the
- 54:15Speaker 11: Kracking is certainly getting some much needed help for this evening.
- 54:19Speaker 11: Back downstairs, we go from a reaction from Cracking head
- 54:22Speaker 11: coach Lane Lambert meeting.
- 54:23Speaker 4: With the media.
- 54:25Speaker 23: Hey, coach, how much did this one kind of play
- 54:28Speaker 23: exactly into how you expected it to go based on
- 54:31Speaker 23: how that team plays, how your team plays. It did
- 54:34Speaker 23: seem to play out sort of how you'd imagine America.
- 54:37Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it did, you know.
- 54:40Speaker 24: I mean, we we would obviously prefer to spend less
- 54:45Speaker 24: time in our zone. But I thought that our guys
- 54:50Speaker 24: did a great job of blocking shots. I thought we
- 54:52Speaker 24: were committed, we had good sticks, and I thought our
- 54:55Speaker 24: goaltender was good when he had to be.
- 54:56Speaker 7: But you know, they they come as advertis as. They
- 55:00Speaker 7: throw absolutely everything to the net, so.
- 55:04Speaker 24: You know, you in there looking to beat you to
- 55:06Speaker 24: the net and get rebounds and things like that. And
- 55:09Speaker 24: I thought we did a pretty good job of maintaining
- 55:12Speaker 24: our structure. And then, uh, you know, we transitioned when
- 55:16Speaker 24: we when we could. At the end of the day,
- 55:18Speaker 24: you're going to get opportunities and you've got to capitalize
- 55:20Speaker 24: on them. And Coco's two on one was a huge goal.
- 55:22Speaker 7: For US.
- 55:23Speaker 23: Jamie Alexiak was physically very imposing tonight. Did you notice
- 55:28Speaker 23: that and did something change with him between this game
- 55:31Speaker 23: and previous times?
- 55:32Speaker 7: Uh? You know what I did notice it. I just
- 55:36Speaker 7: thought he was I thought he was hard.
- 55:39Speaker 24: Obviously had eleven hits, you know, and that's uh, you know,
- 55:43Speaker 24: there's I think there's there's games where.
- 55:46Speaker 7: He's equally as hard.
- 55:48Speaker 24: Maybe the hits don't show up necessarily on the on
- 55:51Speaker 24: the score sheet so much, but you know, his presence, uh,
- 55:55Speaker 24: And certainly his presence around the net and the defensive
- 55:57Speaker 24: zone for US tonight was was huge.
- 56:03Speaker 4: Lane.
- 56:03Speaker 23: When Carolina scorers late in the second cuts it to
- 56:06Speaker 23: two to one, how much does that impact or change
- 56:08Speaker 23: the focus and plan for the third as supposed to
- 56:10Speaker 23: if you maintain the multiple lead.
- 56:12Speaker 7: Well, it didn't change it at all, you know. Uh.
- 56:17Speaker 7: And I thought we defended. We defended well in the
- 56:19Speaker 7: third period.
- 56:20Speaker 24: You know, they had nine shots, they had three scoring chances,
- 56:22Speaker 24: five on five, they had one, and they with the
- 56:24Speaker 24: with the goalie pulled their six on four and on
- 56:27Speaker 24: their power play. So I thought we did a pretty
- 56:29Speaker 24: good job of you know, keeping them to the outside
- 56:32Speaker 24: in the third period.
- 56:35Speaker 7: You know, the big one was the save that Joey made.
- 56:41Speaker 24: Or the you know, the miss that they had after
- 56:43Speaker 24: they had scored just before the just before the second
- 56:46Speaker 24: period had ended.
- 56:47Speaker 7: That one would have that one would have hurt.
- 56:53Speaker 4: Lane.
- 56:54Speaker 25: It seems like we can ask you about Jacob Alansa
- 56:56Speaker 25: on a lot of nights, but for the play, he
- 56:58Speaker 25: had to have the hit and then the playoff the
- 56:59Speaker 25: wall to kind of set up that second goal. What
- 57:02Speaker 25: the energy he kind of brings in some of those
- 57:03Speaker 25: plays he's able to kind of help generate even though
- 57:05Speaker 25: he doesn't end up with a point off of that play.
- 57:07Speaker 25: What does that kind of do for you guys?
- 57:10Speaker 24: Yeah, I mean, you know, we talk about him the
- 57:12Speaker 24: same way. He just comes to play every night. He's hard,
- 57:14Speaker 24: he's physical. You know, there's there's loose bucks that lay
- 57:19Speaker 24: around that he just seems to come up with, and
- 57:21Speaker 24: it's just because he's willing and more than willing.
- 57:26Speaker 7: You're right.
- 57:27Speaker 24: The play he made on Meyer's goal on the wall,
- 57:30Speaker 24: you know that was going to be a key to
- 57:33Speaker 24: the hockey game tonight. I thought we did a good
- 57:36Speaker 24: job on some of them. I thought we failed on
- 57:38Speaker 24: some of them. But that's just standard stuff when you
- 57:40Speaker 24: play the Carolina Hurricanes. The play he made, he didn't
- 57:43Speaker 24: show up on the score sheet, but that's where the
- 57:45Speaker 24: play started on Many's goals. So you know, Mel's a
- 57:50Speaker 24: key part of our team.
- 57:51Speaker 25: And how do you approach the final ninety seconds in
- 57:53Speaker 25: a six on four situation like that with a team
- 57:55Speaker 25: that loves to shoot it as much as they do?
- 57:57Speaker 7: What?
- 57:57Speaker 25: How do you kind of go in that approach it?
- 57:59Speaker 25: What would you like about he guys got through that well.
- 58:02Speaker 7: You know, you have to stay a little bit tighter
- 58:04Speaker 7: than you usually do.
- 58:06Speaker 24: You know, in terms of the kill. We didn't change
- 58:08Speaker 24: our kill too much, but you have to stay a
- 58:10Speaker 24: little bit tighter. They obviously have an extra guy, and
- 58:13Speaker 24: you know, you're looking for guys to block shots pay
- 58:15Speaker 24: the price, and sometimes you just a little little element
- 58:19Speaker 24: of good fortune as well because shots are coming in,
- 58:23Speaker 24: some of them. I don't think Joey saw so. I
- 58:26Speaker 24: thought our guys did a good job of, you know,
- 58:28Speaker 24: trying to keep shots to the outside forced them to
- 58:30Speaker 24: miss the net, and when they didn't, Joey made some
- 58:33Speaker 24: big saves.
- 58:35Speaker 4: That's cracking.
- 58:36Speaker 11: Head coach Lane Lambert. I mean, my goodness, six on
- 58:38Speaker 11: four is always lump in your throat moment in time
- 58:41Speaker 11: and the Crack and finding a way to survive it
- 58:43Speaker 11: here where the shot attemp's here for tonight total not
- 58:45Speaker 11: just five on five, but in total eighty three to
- 58:48Speaker 11: thirty one. I'll repeat that, eighty three to thirty one. Yeah,
- 58:53Speaker 11: scoring chance is just twenty thirteen in favor of Carolina
- 58:57Speaker 11: here for tonight. So al as you said, the Crack
- 59:00Speaker 11: played nearly a perfect game until the l E. Tolven
- 59:03Speaker 11: and penalty here, and the penalty kill only had to
- 59:05Speaker 11: go through one challenging and demanding but just one exercise
- 59:10Speaker 11: here for tonight to get this one all done.
- 59:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it was an important penalty kill obviously late in
- 59:14Speaker 5: the third period. You know, you want to play discipline,
- 59:16Speaker 5: but you'd rather maybe give that penalty up in the
- 59:19Speaker 5: second period than late in the third period when you're
- 59:21Speaker 5: up by a goal. But the boys rose to the occasion,
- 59:24Speaker 5: and you know, including Joey to Cord, all of them
- 59:27Speaker 5: did what they needed to do over that span to
- 59:29Speaker 5: keep the puck out of their net.
- 59:31Speaker 11: We get one reaction here from the two five three,
- 59:34Speaker 11: and this will help us transition into a look at Wednesday.
- 59:38Speaker 4: Here.
- 59:38Speaker 11: Great game tonight, but can't lay another egg against the
- 59:40Speaker 11: bad Blues team on Wednesday. You got to add top six,
- 59:43Speaker 11: by the way, but I hate to see Myers or
- 59:46Speaker 11: Milans and have to sit if we stay healthy that
- 59:48Speaker 11: from the two five three, So why not talk about
- 59:51Speaker 11: Saint Louis right now? Of course, they are well out
- 59:53Speaker 11: of the playoff picture. It appears that they are going
- 59:55Speaker 11: to be a seller. Yet they have one two of
- 59:59Speaker 11: three coming out of the break, including a win against
- 1:00:02Speaker 11: where the Krakend felt that they were pretty sleepy in
- 1:00:05Speaker 11: that five to one loss at Saint Louis here, So
- 1:00:07Speaker 11: again I think you go back to the same formula
- 1:00:09Speaker 11: once again, find a way to get an early jumping
- 1:00:11Speaker 11: period one out.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: Yeah, other than that Saint Louis game the other night,
- 1:00:15Speaker 5: have been fairly successful against teams that are out of
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: the playoff picture. Ten to three and one was the
- 1:00:21Speaker 5: last record I'd seen going into that Vancouver win the
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: other night, So they can rise to the occasion. But
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: you know, as a player, you want to think about
- 1:00:28Speaker 5: that game last week and how partly the team played
- 1:00:32Speaker 5: and switched that around and rinse and repeat the game
- 1:00:35Speaker 5: you had here tonight, maybe with a little bit of
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: anger and nastness in your game because you lost to
- 1:00:40Speaker 5: this team last week.
- 1:00:42Speaker 11: They are a big team. They are heavier akin to
- 1:00:44Speaker 11: maybe a team like Dallas as we talked about this
- 1:00:47Speaker 11: last week, and players like Pavel Boots, Naevitch, Robert Thomas,
- 1:00:50Speaker 11: Brayden Schen They've got size, they've got skill as well.
- 1:00:53Speaker 11: But potentially we'll see who could be on the move
- 1:00:57Speaker 11: here by Friday. Thomas's name has been out there, Jordan Kyrou,
- 1:01:01Speaker 11: Justin Fulk, Colton Pareco, goaltender, Jordan Bennington. So they could
- 1:01:05Speaker 11: be in a reset mode here for trying to build
- 1:01:07Speaker 11: a round, Guys like Jimmy Snuggero, Dylan Hallaway, Jake Nabors,
- 1:01:11Speaker 11: and Philip Roberg. After of course, Saint louis Is last
- 1:01:14Speaker 11: game they beat Minnesota three to one, which was their
- 1:01:16Speaker 11: first road win, by the way, in twenty twenty six.
- 1:01:19Speaker 5: Yeah wow, well, yeah, lots to talk about over the
- 1:01:22Speaker 5: next few days, and certainly going into Wednesday's game. There
- 1:01:25Speaker 5: will definitely be some activity around the league that we'll
- 1:01:29Speaker 5: be able to comment on.
- 1:01:30Speaker 11: Talk is going to be picking up now once again.
- 1:01:33Speaker 11: Trade deadline time is Friday at noon, cracking weekly tomorrow night.
- 1:01:38Speaker 11: By the way, team is totally off tomorrow day of
- 1:01:40Speaker 11: rest just like yesterday. So this is kind of the
- 1:01:42Speaker 11: formula now at this point of the season, and the
- 1:01:44Speaker 11: cracking back on ice again Wednesday against Saint Louis Blues out.
- 1:01:48Speaker 11: Thanks so much once again, Pal, absolutely thanks. I'm to
- 1:01:51Speaker 11: go home once again. Big thanks again to Travis Mger,
- 1:01:53Speaker 11: technical director for your reaction. Additionally and to Terry Ryan
- 1:01:56Speaker 11: are on site engineer as that will do it for
- 1:01:58Speaker 11: here for our Kinsky. This is Mike Benton saying good
- 1:02:01Speaker 11: night from Tom's watch Bar and Climate Pledge Arena. Thank
- 1:02:04Speaker 11: you for joining us. Your final score once again cracking
- 1:02:08Speaker 11: two hurricanes one. This is talking cracking on ninety three
- 1:02:10Speaker 11: to three KJRFM
