- 1:39Speaker 2: with me here at Central from ADS Podcast. I'm JD. Green.

- 2:05Speaker 2: Happy President's Day. The weekend is over. Big thanks this morning,
- 2:12Speaker 2: and I'd like to say this on Mondays, especially to
- 2:16Speaker 2: all of our essential workers who got us through it,
- 2:20Speaker 2: whether it's public works, road crews, doctors, nurses, hospital staff, EMT's, paramedics,
- 2:29Speaker 2: all that fire police, everyone. Thanks for getting us through
- 2:36Speaker 2: the weekend. It's a lot of stuff to unpack. We'll
- 2:40Speaker 2: do a little bit of it this morning and some
- 2:43Speaker 2: more of it tomorrow. Today marks the one hundred and
- 2:47Speaker 2: forty seventh anniversary of President's Day, which was established in
- 2:55Speaker 2: eighteen seventy nine honoring George Washington, who's birthday was already
- 3:03Speaker 2: informally celebrated nationwide. The holiday was moved to the third
- 3:07Speaker 2: weekend of February way back nineteen seventy one. I was
- 3:12Speaker 2: one years old, placing it between the birthdays of Washington
- 3:17Speaker 2: and Abe Lincoln, creating that three day weekend. Most schools
- 3:24Speaker 2: are closed on President's Day. My Little Girls is wide
- 3:29Speaker 2: open today, but yeah, federal holiday, so that means generally
- 3:37Speaker 2: the public schools, many of which are closed, along with banks,
- 3:44Speaker 2: post offices. By the way, George, Washington and Abe really
- 3:52Speaker 2: didn't make a big deal about their birthdays at all.
- 3:55Speaker 2: They could really like kind of give a crap about them.
- 3:58Speaker 2: They were too busy to be caring or worrying about
- 4:02Speaker 2: their birthdays or blowing out candles and eating cake. Thanks
- 4:07Speaker 2: to some new followers over the weekend, Easton and Middlebury,
- 4:12Speaker 2: Travis and Burlington, Chelsea in Essex, welcome aboard. Good morning,
- 4:17Speaker 2: Joe and Glenn. We have National do a Grouch of
- 4:24Speaker 2: Favor Day today. And I'll tell you right now, if
- 4:28Speaker 2: you know someone who's a grouch in your life, maybe
- 4:32Speaker 2: treat them to a movie over the Paramount Twin right
- 4:35Speaker 2: here in Barry. Five dollars. That's how much the tickets
- 4:40Speaker 2: are on Mondays. Five bucks. Go to a movie tonight.
- 4:44Speaker 2: Just go just do it. Wuthering Heights, by the way,
- 4:48Speaker 2: topping the Valentine's Day weekend box office thirty four point
- 4:53Speaker 2: eight million dollars in domestic ticket sales, the year's biggest
- 5:02Speaker 2: so far. That's pretty impressive. If you haven't seen it,
- 5:04Speaker 2: go see it. Twenty degrees at my house this morning.
- 5:12Speaker 2: And speaking of twenty twenty days until daylight savings time,
- 5:19Speaker 2: twenty days, does that mean it's going to be warmer?
- 5:22Speaker 2: Oh no, of course not. We're looking at mostly cloudy
- 5:27Speaker 2: skies and flurries today, thirty five tonight, cloudy in twenty four.
- 5:31Speaker 2: I know this is such a boring forecast. Tomorrow morning
- 5:35Speaker 2: snowshowers about an inch, thirty seven degrees, so tomorrow morning
- 5:41Speaker 2: could get a little slick depending on where you are.
- 5:44Speaker 2: Just drive carefully. Wednesday cloudy, snowshowers and thirty five birthdays.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Today we have Frank Massey, Tina Ash, Heather French, Paul Sayers,
- 5:55Speaker 2: Aaron Flynn, Phil Lord, Donna Welch, Jan Trepanneer, Bill Wise
- 6:03Speaker 2: and Elisha French all on the list. Happy birthday everybody.
- 6:09Speaker 2: I want to give a shout out to Optical Expressions
- 6:11Speaker 2: this morning. It was just there for an eye exam.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I think it was last week and Mark leebert Man
- 6:21Speaker 2: that guy, his the whole team there, Tim and just
- 6:25Speaker 2: everybody treat you so well, Spoil you make you feel
- 6:33Speaker 2: like literally you're the only person at optical expressions. The
- 6:40Speaker 2: technology is amazing, It's crazy. I love looking at the
- 6:43Speaker 2: little red barn that gets blurry. But it was it
- 6:49Speaker 2: was neat in that it had been I think I
- 6:55Speaker 2: think just over a year maybe a year and a
- 6:57Speaker 2: half since I had an eye exam, and little did
- 7:01Speaker 2: I know that it was needed. So new prescription coming soon,
- 7:06Speaker 2: new pair of specs. Looking forward to it, especially for
- 7:10Speaker 2: the night time driving. And I complained about the glare
- 7:14Speaker 2: of the headlights at night, especially you get some rain
- 7:17Speaker 2: in there and you can't see the potholes and all
- 7:20Speaker 2: that stuff. Am I talking about potholes again? No, but
- 7:25Speaker 2: Mark understood, and he's like, yep, this is gonna significantly
- 7:29Speaker 2: help this new prescription. So I'm excited about it. Let's
- 7:34Speaker 2: see community calendar, A lot of stuff going on. What
- 7:37Speaker 2: do we have? First of all, it's brought to you

- 9:51Speaker 2: But it really is, it really is. And yeah, I'm
- 9:55Speaker 2: just glancing here. What else? Yeah, that's pretty much it
- 9:58Speaker 2: for the community calendar. I mean, there's some other things
- 10:01Speaker 2: we're going to highlight as we go into and through
- 10:05Speaker 2: the week. What a weekend it was for this soulfella.
- 10:10Speaker 2: I was tired Friday night. It all started with the
- 10:15Speaker 2: Night to Shine. What an experience. Over one hundred honored guests,
- 10:23Speaker 2: two hundred volunteers, Faith Community Church driving the bus on
- 10:28Speaker 2: the Night to Shine for year number four and just
- 10:31Speaker 2: knocked it out of the park. It was amazing, amazing experience,
- 10:38Speaker 2: so many people that I saw that night. I was
- 10:46Speaker 2: just filled with good feeling and went away that night
- 10:53Speaker 2: tired dancing. And then right after that Andy and I
- 11:02Speaker 2: rocked out hard over at the cv fun vol Valentine's
- 11:08Speaker 2: Dance over at the VFW. I mean, it was just
- 11:12Speaker 2: a great weekend. Am I a great dancer? Oh? Hell no?
- 11:22Speaker 2: But did I have fun? You bet I did. It
- 11:26Speaker 2: was amazing. Dona thunder at the VFW Wednesday night. Yes, Joe, Yes,
- 11:33Speaker 2: with the wings. They'll be serving it up. Donna reached
- 11:36Speaker 2: out to me yesterday wing a ding Wednesday. Do not forget.
- 11:39Speaker 2: I will try hard to make sure that you don't forget.
- 11:45Speaker 2: I'm gonna give a buddy of mine a ring right
- 11:48Speaker 2: now and connect in with Andy Bussano who is heading
- 11:54Speaker 2: up Revolution Basketball in Burlington. And I don't know if
- 12:00Speaker 2: you have noticed their page, their Facebook page, but they've
- 12:05Speaker 2: got a men's league that is starting up on March
- 12:09Speaker 2: twenty ninth, and the deadline to get your name on
- 12:15Speaker 2: the list is March first, which is coming up real
- 12:19Speaker 2: real soon. When is that March first? Is like, I
- 12:22Speaker 2: think it's a Monday. It's going to be really soon.
- 12:26Speaker 2: The games are on Sundays from eight am until one
- 12:30Speaker 2: pm at the Edmunds Middle School. And yeah, it's one
- 12:35Speaker 2: hundred and fifty bucks. I know a guy who would
- 12:39Speaker 2: be perfect for this, not myself, not myself, but a
- 12:43Speaker 2: good friend of mine, neighbor of mine, who would absolutely
- 12:47Speaker 2: love this. So yeah, if you would, if you'd like
- 12:51Speaker 2: to sign up, I think they only have a few
- 12:56Speaker 2: spots left. But this is going to be eight games.
- 13:00Speaker 2: Are eight games, you get the T shirt, full stats,
- 13:04Speaker 2: live stream, written recaps all of that trophy said more
- 13:10Speaker 2: Andy Witherus Man, Hey, hey buddy, how are you great?
- 13:15Speaker 2: How are you well? Man? We're talking about what you
- 13:19Speaker 2: got cooking over at the Edmunds Middle School. Tell me
- 13:22Speaker 2: about this. This is the men's League.
- 13:26Speaker 3: Yeah, our men's league. We do. We try to do
- 13:29Speaker 3: about three or four of them a year, depending on
- 13:31Speaker 3: timeframe and and availability. But this is our first one
- 13:35Speaker 3: of twenty twenty six. It'll be our spring league starting
- 13:40Speaker 3: March twenty ninth, and.
- 13:42Speaker 4: We actually are full.
- 13:46Speaker 3: I know you just mentioned it on the air, but
- 13:48Speaker 3: we actually just got full this morning. Eighty players have
- 13:52Speaker 3: signed up already, and yeah, and we're hoping to possibly
- 13:58Speaker 3: add another eight.
- 14:00Speaker 4: So we can put another team into the to the league.
- 14:03Speaker 3: But we you know, we got to just figure out
- 14:05Speaker 3: you know, the logistics of time and and and availability
- 14:08Speaker 3: and stuff. But yeah, just exciting already full.
- 14:13Speaker 2: Wow, man, dude, that's fantastic. You know. I I saw
- 14:18Speaker 2: yesterday had like three or four spots left. But man,
- 14:21Speaker 2: that's that's remarkable. So, uh, we don't even have to
- 14:24Speaker 2: talk about the deadline being March first, because it's it's
- 14:28Speaker 2: it's going man.
- 14:30Speaker 3: Yeah, you know this is uh, usually after the New year,
- 14:34Speaker 3: we take we usually take the winter off, so guys
- 14:37Speaker 3: are really anticipating the next league to kick off, and
- 14:42Speaker 3: you know, they're they're itching.
- 14:43Speaker 4: To get out there and play again.
- 14:44Speaker 3: And I'm sure they're trying to get you know, get
- 14:47Speaker 3: that winter time wait off of them and start sweating it.
- 14:50Speaker 4: Out so I get there. I bet they're excited to play, dude.
- 14:54Speaker 2: So this starts up the end of.
- 14:57Speaker 4: March, correct, Yeah, March twenty ninth.
- 15:02Speaker 2: Will there be another one on the on the back
- 15:05Speaker 2: side of this.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Yeah, So I like to I don't like to, you know,
- 15:10Speaker 3: wait too long because it honestly, the years go by
- 15:15Speaker 3: so fast for us, and it is a ten to
- 15:18Speaker 3: twelve week program, so we try to take maybe like
- 15:22Speaker 3: a week or two off and then we'll get back
- 15:24Speaker 3: into it. So I think the championship for this league
- 15:28Speaker 3: is going to be June.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Like the second week of June, barring.
- 15:32Speaker 3: Any you know, hopefully not any thing happens where we
- 15:37Speaker 3: have to reschedule any games, but then.
- 15:40Speaker 4: We'll start again. Then we'll start again.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Probably the back end of June, going into our next season,
- 15:51Speaker 3: which would be the Burlington ABA.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Do tell please.
- 15:59Speaker 3: So this year, we're gonna be starting our first semi
- 16:02Speaker 3: professional basketball team in Chinning County. It will be hosted
- 16:07Speaker 3: at Burlington High School, the new new, brand new facility,
- 16:10Speaker 3: and we're gonna be starting our inaugural season October twenty
- 16:14Speaker 3: twenty six.
- 16:15Speaker 4: And yeah, we're excited for that. We're gonna give locals
- 16:21Speaker 4: a platform to even play at a higher level.
- 16:25Speaker 2: Damn fella, that is freaking awesome.
- 16:27Speaker 5: News man, good for you, Thank you, first, Thank you,
- 16:32Speaker 5: first ABA team in Chittenden County, Yep.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Yeah, Well the Vermont Frost Seeds did start their play
- 16:42Speaker 3: when they were about.
- 16:43Speaker 4: They did start in Burlington.
- 16:44Speaker 3: They played out of the Burlington Memorial Auditorium, which no
- 16:48Speaker 3: longer exists.
- 16:50Speaker 4: Wow.
- 16:50Speaker 3: But then they moved out to Burry Auditorium and you know,
- 16:54Speaker 3: left Burlington without a team, and we're bringing it back.
- 17:01Speaker 2: I think this is fantastic. Man, And listen, let's give
- 17:04Speaker 2: some some props because I know that Revolution Basketball has
- 17:09Speaker 2: had some help from the Altar Group. Keller Williams, you
- 17:13Speaker 2: guys have had some great community response that is teaming
- 17:16Speaker 2: up on you.
- 17:18Speaker 4: Oh.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Absolutely, the Altar Group. I mean a lot of guys
- 17:21Speaker 3: they play in our leagues. They see the camaraderie, they
- 17:25Speaker 3: see the support that we get from the community, and
- 17:30Speaker 3: you know, it really helps when we try to reach
- 17:33Speaker 3: out to sponsors because we already have a following and
- 17:36Speaker 3: we have support within the community. So we just locked
- 17:41Speaker 3: up a partnership with the Windjammer Best Western Plus. So
- 17:46Speaker 3: that's a huge, huge one for us, a good partnership.
- 17:48Speaker 3: Hopefully that that can be a good starting point for
- 17:51Speaker 3: our Burlington ABA and continue to you know, partner with
- 17:56Speaker 3: some local local businesses that support our Wow.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Listen, man, as soon as you get to your next
- 18:03Speaker 2: poster for your next men's league, made make sure you
- 18:07Speaker 2: get it to me.
- 18:09Speaker 4: Hell absolutely, you'll be one of the.
- 18:11Speaker 2: First great stuff man. Thanks Andy, Yeah, no problem, Jad,
- 18:16Speaker 2: Thank you for having me Andy Bussano right there talking
- 18:19Speaker 2: about Revolution Basketball's Men's League, which just filled up this morning.
- 18:25Speaker 2: It starts tail end of March and it's going to
- 18:27Speaker 2: be massive. Be on the watch, beyond the listen for
- 18:30Speaker 2: the next one. I'll make sure that you know about it.
- 18:34Speaker 2: It is Yeah, it is Monday. It is President's Day.
- 18:37Speaker 2: You know. One of the questions that I posted a
- 18:39Speaker 2: few days ago the Facebook Question of the Day, and
- 18:44Speaker 2: it garnered some pretty interesting response that I finally had
- 18:50Speaker 2: a chance to sit down and thumb through a little
- 18:55Speaker 2: bit over the weekend. It was a busy weekend, but
- 18:58Speaker 2: nonetheless a chance to read some of the comments from Vermonors,
- 19:03Speaker 2: which were very interesting and put things into a little
- 19:11Speaker 2: bit of a perspective for me. This is what I
- 19:16Speaker 2: wrote for the Facebook Question of the Day. By so
- 19:21Speaker 2: many different measures, the economy looks good and I'm sure
- 19:25Speaker 2: you've heard about it. Stock market hit new highs, Inflation
- 19:31Speaker 2: is going down, gas prices are going down, there's low unemployment.
- 19:39Speaker 2: So why are Americans hurting? And even more specifically, why
- 19:46Speaker 2: are Vermonors hurting so much? And I started clicking a
- 19:51Speaker 2: little bit and found a study that I would like
- 19:57Speaker 2: to share with you, and I'll post it up on
- 20:02Speaker 2: the page that the typical American worker has nine hundred
- 20:09Speaker 2: and fifty five bucks saved for retirement. And what I
- 20:17Speaker 2: want to ask you is, do you know what you
- 20:23Speaker 2: have saved for retirement? There's two ways of thinking here.
- 20:31Speaker 2: I think that one way is very much the philosophy
- 20:42Speaker 2: that my my brother heeds, which is safe, safe, safe,
- 20:49Speaker 2: put it aside. And the other is live life right now, uh,
- 21:00Speaker 2: tomorrow is not guaranteed. Enjoy life while your time is here,
- 21:06Speaker 2: because it could expire at any time. And I want
- 21:13Speaker 2: to ask you about that. How you feel about those
- 21:18Speaker 2: two different philosophies. This study by the National Institute of
- 21:23Speaker 2: Retirement Security, by the way, found that among all workers
- 21:27Speaker 2: between the ages of twenty one and sixty four, including
- 21:33Speaker 2: those who haven't saved anything for retirement again, the median
- 21:39Speaker 2: amount saved in a defined contribution plan nine hundred and
- 21:46Speaker 2: fifty five bucks as of twenty twenty three. Is that
- 21:55Speaker 2: is that something that you think is concerning that Americans
- 22:01Speaker 2: don't have a nest egg or that the average has
- 22:06Speaker 2: a nest egg of nine hundred and fifty five bucks.
- 22:11Speaker 2: I don't know. This is something that I would like
- 22:17Speaker 2: to learn more about, and I would like to hear
- 22:20Speaker 2: more from you about what your thought process is with this.
- 22:26Speaker 2: If it scares you to even think about this kind
- 22:29Speaker 2: of stuff, I don't know. I'll tell you what it
- 22:36Speaker 2: has done is it's had me. It's forced me to
- 22:41Speaker 2: think about this, and it's forced me to ask the question,
- 22:48Speaker 2: what do I have? What do I have other than
- 22:52Speaker 2: some liquid assets? What do I have put aside? Anyway,
- 22:58Speaker 2: we'll be talking about it soon right here on aired out,
- 23:02Speaker 2: and I am going to be looking for a professional
- 23:06Speaker 2: to come in here and sit on the couch and
- 23:09Speaker 2: break it all down. Check in sports. Tyler Reddick win
- 23:14Speaker 2: in the Daytona five hundred yesterday for the first time
- 23:20Speaker 2: with a shower of sparks behind him, the fourth driver
- 23:24Speaker 2: effort to do so without leading a single lap. That's amazing.
- 23:34Speaker 2: Dramatic season opener that saw plenty of action, plenty of crashes,
- 23:41Speaker 2: some pretty good strategy that we could see on the
- 23:49Speaker 2: track and one of the most exciting dayton of five
- 23:54Speaker 2: hundreds in history, sixty five lead changes among twenty five
- 24:00Speaker 2: different leaders. Ricky Stenhouse Junior finished second, followed by Joey
- 24:05Speaker 2: Logano in third. But Tyler Reddick, who was what runner
- 24:10Speaker 2: up last year, finally gets it. He's thrilled. Aliyah Milanin,
- 24:23Speaker 2: who arrived in Milan, Italy as the man to beat,
- 24:30Speaker 2: left with a teen gold medal and an eighth place
- 24:35Speaker 2: finish in the event that was supposed to be his
- 24:41Speaker 2: defining career event. I generally don't watch the figure skating
- 24:55Speaker 2: in the Olympics. I note that there are several several
- 25:03Speaker 2: people that that's all they do watch in the Olympics
- 25:08Speaker 2: is the figure skating, diehard fans of this stuff to
- 25:14Speaker 2: watch that though, which I did, to watch this twenty
- 25:21Speaker 2: one year old amazing skater, the quad god, who has
- 25:30Speaker 2: unmatched ability. To watch him fall not once but twice,
- 25:40Speaker 2: completing just three of seven planned quadruple jumps was hard.
- 25:50Speaker 2: It was I don't know, man. It's like, no matter
- 25:56Speaker 2: who it is, no matter what country they represent, what sport,
- 26:00Speaker 2: it is to see anyone like Lindsay Vaughn too to
- 26:10Speaker 2: see anyone I know, I'm thinking of the same words
- 26:14Speaker 2: you are, the agony of defeat. That was tough to watch.
- 26:18Speaker 2: That I felt so bad for this guy twenty one
- 26:21Speaker 2: years old. He said he felt like he had no control,
- 26:27Speaker 2: describing a wave of pressure and negative thoughts that hit
- 26:30Speaker 2: him as he took his opening pose. He says, I
- 26:37Speaker 2: just felt like all of the traumatic moments in my
- 26:40Speaker 2: life really just started flooding my head. I just did
- 26:43Speaker 2: not handle them. Honestly, I still haven't been able to
- 26:47Speaker 2: process what just happened. Really, what a bummer, this guy
- 26:57Speaker 2: who seemed like he was carrying the weight and the
- 27:03Speaker 2: pressure just fine leading up to it. What do you think?
- 27:11Speaker 2: And you know, if you have empathy, you can try
- 27:17Speaker 2: to imagine yourself in this guy's skates, shoes, how he
- 27:28Speaker 2: must feel. What can we all learn from this? What
- 27:34Speaker 2: can we all learn about mental focus, restraint, control, not
- 27:45Speaker 2: caving under pressure? What about mental health? It's one thing
- 27:57Speaker 2: to have a strong sense of mental performance and knowing
- 28:06Speaker 2: how and when to turn it on. But at the
- 28:12Speaker 2: end of the day, as an athlete, no matter how
- 28:15Speaker 2: talented you are, you're still a human being. And ah, well,
- 28:24Speaker 2: I think we have to remember that that there's something
- 28:28Speaker 2: that's that's much bigger here beyond an Olympic performance, beyond
- 28:34Speaker 2: a metal. Whether it's gold, bronze, silver, it doesn't matter.
- 28:44Speaker 2: There's a lot to be learned here by this. A
- 28:48Speaker 2: lot different situation, different scenario than Lindsey Vaughn, but defeat
- 28:57Speaker 2: is his defeat, and man, it's got a really ugly
- 29:01Speaker 2: face to it, and my heart broke for this kid
- 29:05Speaker 2: watching that. Over the weekend, we have Canada's men's curling
- 29:11Speaker 2: team accused of cheating on Friday night, with Sweden claiming
- 29:20Speaker 2: the Canadian player Mark Kennedy touched the curling stone after
- 29:26Speaker 2: its release. Kennedy flipped out and responded with all kinds
- 29:36Speaker 2: of explicatives which I can understand, and accused the Swedes
- 29:50Speaker 2: of intentionally filming and premeditating the conflict. Then less than
- 29:59Speaker 2: twenty fi four hours later, the Canadian women's team was
- 30:06Speaker 2: accused of the exact same violation. Wow, things can get
- 30:20Speaker 2: real hot there on the ice. Holy crap, we're fighting
- 30:24Speaker 2: over curling. Italy. By the way, who's six and zero
- 30:30Speaker 2: is going to be facing Sweden in the semi finals today.
- 30:37Speaker 2: The Italians generally don't fuck about. And I'm wondering what's
- 30:53Speaker 2: gonna happen between Italy and Sweden today. I'm going to
- 31:02Speaker 2: be trying to pay attention to that one. I saw
- 31:07Speaker 2: something over the weekend and I don't know if you've
- 31:10Speaker 2: you've heard this or seen this. I'm gonna post up
- 31:13Speaker 2: the link. I know there's a lot of a lot
- 31:17Speaker 2: of you that enjoy eating healthy. I don't know if
- 31:23Speaker 2: you remember girl kibble, but this was something that exploded
- 31:29Speaker 2: on TikTok and now it's coming back this time boy kibble.
- 31:37Speaker 2: You know, and I know that this is the kind
- 31:44Speaker 2: of stuff that's shown up in feeds everywhere, especially now
- 31:49Speaker 2: that I'm talking about it and my phone's listening, it'll
- 31:52Speaker 2: be all over my phone. Historically, TikTok has really, let's
- 31:56Speaker 2: just be honest here, not really come up with some
- 32:00Speaker 2: great recipe ideas and doesn't necessarily have the best reputation
- 32:04Speaker 2: for eating healthy. But is this diet gonna be different?
- 32:12Speaker 2: This is boy kibble, and I ask you health or hype.
- 32:18Speaker 2: It's basically you ground beef over rice to sum it up,
- 32:24Speaker 2: maybe throw in some vegetables in there, lean protein, some carbs,
- 32:31Speaker 2: some vegetables. I know, Jim, people have been eating this
- 32:37Speaker 2: stuff for ages. I understand, And I wonder if Josh
- 32:44Speaker 2: is listening this morning, because I know he kind of
- 32:47Speaker 2: does something that's similar. I don't think he calls it
- 32:50Speaker 2: boy kibble. I'll put up some some recipes. Matty Matheson
- 33:01Speaker 2: has a version of boy kibble that I'm going to
- 33:03Speaker 2: share with you. Yeah, the big chef there way. Do
- 33:09Speaker 2: you see this? It's intriguing, or at least I'm intrigued
- 33:14Speaker 2: by it. Maybe I'll make some of it and share
- 33:18Speaker 2: it on the air Friday morning with Gee. I don't know.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Vermont headlines that are trending this morning. Vermonts Day police
- 33:28Speaker 2: investigating what they describe as a suspicious death in the
- 33:31Speaker 2: Orange County town of Corinth. Many of you are familiar
- 33:35Speaker 2: with the story. You saw it unfold Saturday night into
- 33:39Speaker 2: Sunday morning, please say. The investigation began about eleven fifteen
- 33:43Speaker 2: Saturday night, dispatchers received a nine to one one call
- 33:47Speaker 2: reporting that a man had been shot at a home
- 33:49Speaker 2: on Richardson Road. Troopers responded to the residents located a
- 33:53Speaker 2: man unresponsive inside the home. Emergency medical Services pronounced the
- 33:59Speaker 2: man at the scene. Authority say that death is considered suspicious.
- 34:08Speaker 2: According to the preliminary investigation, the incident stemmed from a
- 34:13Speaker 2: domestic dispute involving people who knew each other. Please say
- 34:17Speaker 2: that everyone connected to the case has been accounted for
- 34:20Speaker 2: and there is no identified danger to the public. Disturbing
- 34:30Speaker 2: story for sure, And does that hit close to home?
- 34:35Speaker 2: You bet. And I don't know anything more than that
- 34:43Speaker 2: right there, But it's hard to hear that this kind
- 34:49Speaker 2: of stuff happens in our local rural communities. Our thoughts
- 34:57Speaker 2: and prayers are with everyone in anyone that is connected
- 35:02Speaker 2: to that case, that situation on Saturday night in Corinth,
- 35:06Speaker 2: small beautiful town and good people out that way too.
- 35:13Speaker 2: So I hope, I hope we get some more information
- 35:18Speaker 2: and we have some closure here and we can we
- 35:20Speaker 2: can find out more and help those in the area
- 35:24Speaker 2: that that needed. Speaking of rural communities, I saw something
- 35:33Speaker 2: on PTZ that got my attention. It says, year after year,
- 35:41Speaker 2: Vermont is ditching the way it gets its Wi Fi
- 35:44Speaker 2: with copper wires and replacing them with fiber optic cable.
- 35:51Speaker 2: According to the Vermont Department of Public Service, cable providers
- 35:54Speaker 2: reported seventy three percent of Vermont Holmes access Wi Fi
- 36:02Speaker 2: speeds at one hundred megabits or more per second. Less
- 36:13Speaker 2: than one percent of communities were considered underserved. Really, there
- 36:21Speaker 2: are still homes that have yet to be covered, you think.
- 36:28Speaker 2: Recently the National Telecommunications and Information Administration approved of funding
- 36:37Speaker 2: proposal that would unlock ninety three million dollars to go
- 36:42Speaker 2: toward Vermont homes that are still without fiber. What was
- 36:51Speaker 2: that again, less than one percent of communities were considered underserved.
- 37:05Speaker 2: That really doesn't seem accurate. I wonder who's running that survey,
- 37:16Speaker 2: because there are still so many areas still that are
- 37:28Speaker 2: struggling with connectivity. And I see the trucks. I see
- 37:34Speaker 2: the the EAC fiber trucks. But still there's there's a
- 37:43Speaker 2: lot of work that needs to be done in this state.
- 37:47Speaker 2: And let's get this ninety three mil kicked into gear
- 37:54Speaker 2: here and close this gap. And of course this gets
- 38:05Speaker 2: me thinking about and gets me worked up about sell
- 38:12Speaker 2: coverage in our state. And I know that the two
- 38:17Speaker 2: things are not really related, but it still gets me
- 38:23Speaker 2: worked up about it, really does. I had a friend
- 38:30Speaker 2: this weekend who called nine to one one and the
- 38:36Speaker 2: call was dropped three times because he was in a
- 38:41Speaker 2: rural area between Rygate and through Grotten three times on
- 38:54Speaker 2: Route three O two. And if you're a parent, maybe
- 39:05Speaker 2: you've had the same thoughts that I've had that at
- 39:10Speaker 2: some point your young child is going to be driving
- 39:18Speaker 2: and might get a flat tire or something in an
- 39:25Speaker 2: area where there's no cell service and it's and I've heard, well,
- 39:33Speaker 2: you just have to make sure your kid knows how
- 39:34Speaker 2: to change the tire, obviously, but there's a lot more
- 39:47Speaker 2: to be said about this. We need universal sell coverage
- 39:53Speaker 2: through this whole state badly. And I'm tired of people
- 40:02Speaker 2: saying to me, jd Well, you've got to get at
- 40:05Speaker 2: and t that's the only way to go. It's the
- 40:07Speaker 2: only way to I'm tired of that. When I don't know,
- 40:18Speaker 2: I'll bite my tongue here on that. What else we
- 40:23Speaker 2: have going on this weekend? Burlington voters heading to the
- 40:29Speaker 2: polls next month can expect to see a tax increase
- 40:34Speaker 2: on the ballot. Did you hear about this? It's all
- 40:37Speaker 2: part of an effort to close a twelve million dollar
- 40:42Speaker 2: budget gap in the city. Aren't there concerns about affordability?
- 40:55Speaker 2: Officials say the potential tax increase is about keeping essential
- 41:01Speaker 2: services fully staffed and operating. Oh Burlington leaders are urging
- 41:08Speaker 2: voters to support a five cent police and fire tax
- 41:13Speaker 2: increase on town meeting day. Five cents. Thoughts on this, feelings,
- 41:31Speaker 2: anything that you think other communities. I won't mention any
- 41:37Speaker 2: names should incorporate why or why not. We had an
- 41:47Speaker 2: earthquake last night near Keyesville, about ten minutes before eight o'clock,
- 41:57Speaker 2: two point zero magnitude, Really small, but enough that the
- 42:04Speaker 2: US Geological Survey received seventy calls on no damage reported.
- 42:11Speaker 2: Everybody's fine, but just on the other side of the pond,
- 42:16Speaker 2: and plenty of ver honors calling in too, saying something's rattling.
- 42:21Speaker 2: Not sure what's going on, but that was last night,
- 42:27Speaker 2: and I don't think we should be overly surprised about that,
- 42:30Speaker 2: because there's you know, little minor earthquakes in the Adirondecks.
- 42:36Speaker 2: I don't want to say all the time, but it
- 42:39Speaker 2: does happen. Last night national headlines here. Savannah Guthrie took
- 42:49Speaker 2: to social media again another attempt to plead to the
- 42:55Speaker 2: kidnapper of her mother, Nancy, saying it's been two weeks
- 43:01Speaker 2: since she was kidnapped from her home in Tucson, Arizona,
- 43:05Speaker 2: eighty four years old. Yesterday, the FBI said that DNA
- 43:13Speaker 2: recovered from that black glove near Nancy's home appears to
- 43:21Speaker 2: match the glove worn by the suspect in the video.
- 43:32Speaker 2: When I read that, I said, wait a minute, hang on,
- 43:38Speaker 2: how do we know what the DNA of the suspect?
- 43:46Speaker 2: Is there something that I'm missing here? Did you have
- 43:56Speaker 2: the same question in your mind? Or am I dropping
- 44:03Speaker 2: the ball here on a part of the story that
- 44:06Speaker 2: I should know about. I don't know. Please enlighten me.
- 44:14Speaker 2: There's a lot of stuff that's super weird here. Super
- 44:17Speaker 2: weird doesn't smell right on so many different levels. Former
- 44:22Speaker 2: CNN anchor Don Lemon pleading not guilty to federal criminal
- 44:27Speaker 2: charges over coverage of the immigration related protests inside the
- 44:32Speaker 2: Minnesota church. That's one of the headlines this morning. Seven
- 44:41Speaker 2: US states have missed the federal deadline for a second
- 44:46Speaker 2: time to agree on sharing Colorado River water amid the
- 44:54Speaker 2: ongoing drought and shrinking water supplies. Seven states missed the deadline,
- 45:07Speaker 2: then they shouldn't complain. We have opening statements expected today
- 45:21Speaker 2: in the trial of this man whose teenage son is
- 45:24Speaker 2: accused of killing two students and two teachers at that
- 45:28Speaker 2: high school in Georgia back in September of twenty twenty four.
- 45:34Speaker 2: Y'all remember that one. The case is one of several
- 45:38Speaker 2: around the country where prosecutors are now trying to hold
- 45:41Speaker 2: the parents responsible after their children are accused of fatal shootings.
- 45:48Speaker 2: Colin Gray, who now faces twenty nine counts, including two
- 45:54Speaker 2: counts of second degree murder, two counts of involuntary manslaughter,
- 45:59Speaker 2: and numerous accounts of second degree cruelty to children related
- 46:03Speaker 2: to the shooting because not only did he supply the
- 46:10Speaker 2: gun gave it to his son, but also the AMMO,
- 46:18Speaker 2: which makes me want to say, there are so many
- 46:21Speaker 2: parents who are so unbelievably disconnected and irresponsible with their
- 46:31Speaker 2: decisions and their connectivity to their own children. It's unbelievable,
- 46:42Speaker 2: it's sad, it's disgusting. You have to exhaust every mean
- 46:54Speaker 2: possible to connect with your kid, and even then tragedy
- 47:03Speaker 2: could happen, of course, but step up, dial in and
- 47:11Speaker 2: make your kid a priority. World News US military saying
- 47:25Speaker 2: that it struck more than thirty Islamic state targets in
- 47:32Speaker 2: Syria just in the last fifteen days, all in retaliation
- 47:40Speaker 2: for the ambush that killed two American soldiers and a
- 47:47Speaker 2: US civilian. When was that December? How do you feel
- 47:59Speaker 2: about that? Thirty targets in fifteen days. Israel is going
- 48:15Speaker 2: to start land registration in the West Bank for the
- 48:20Speaker 2: first time since the late sixties. Is this going to
- 48:28Speaker 2: be interesting? You bet? Can only imagine this is all
- 48:38Speaker 2: critics say, going to deepen control and create more intention,
- 48:53Speaker 2: more uncertainty. I don't know. First time since nineteen sixty
- 49:04Speaker 2: seven got a history unfolded right in front of us.
- 49:10Speaker 2: Pay attention to this stuff that's happening in other parts
- 49:13Speaker 2: of the world before you are forced to pay attention.
- 49:23Speaker 2: President Trump. By the way, his Board of Peace, which
- 49:31Speaker 2: is going to be meeting on Thursday in Washington, DC,
- 49:37Speaker 2: is going to be providing five billion dollars to rebuild Gaza.
- 49:48Speaker 2: Any thoughts on that do you dare? It's okay. You're
- 49:54Speaker 2: entitled to your opinion no matter what it is. But again,
- 50:00Speaker 2: the Board of Peace is meeting on Thursday in DC.
- 50:09Speaker 2: I don't know if they'll be getting the pen out
- 50:11Speaker 2: and writing the check for five billion dollars. We will
- 50:18Speaker 2: see Thursday morning. We're gonna have some fun here on
- 50:23Speaker 2: aired out, we are gonna try to get you to
- 50:26Speaker 2: an incredible experience in Randolph at the Chandler Center for
- 50:32Speaker 2: the Yards, an unforgettable night of live rock music with
- 50:41Speaker 2: the best tribute band in the region, Heartless. They are
- 50:49Speaker 2: not only so talented and do such a remarkable tribute
- 50:59Speaker 2: to the music Van Wilson, but they and led Zeppelin,
- 51:07Speaker 2: who Anne loved and listened to you all the time.
- 51:11Speaker 2: But they will take you back and they will bring
- 51:15Speaker 2: you back to that time. It is going to be
- 51:19Speaker 2: incredible Friday night, the twentieth at the Channeler Center for
- 51:24Speaker 2: the Arts in Randolph. We're gonna give you a chance
- 51:28Speaker 2: to win tickets. Actually we're doing that right now here.
- 51:30Speaker 2: It aired out and Thursday morning we're gonna announce the winner.
- 51:34Speaker 2: We should mention nothing safe and Alison Chain's experience is
- 51:40Speaker 2: going to be opening up unbelievable. Here's how you win.
- 51:47Speaker 2: You like the post, you comment, and you share the post.
- 51:53Speaker 2: That's it, just by doing so. We're taking your name
- 51:56Speaker 2: and we're going to put it in the pot and
- 51:59Speaker 2: we're gonna choose one winner from everyone who participates on
- 52:03Speaker 2: Thursday morning live on the air. Right here, we're going
- 52:06Speaker 2: to get your name added to the we'll call list
- 52:09Speaker 2: for a pair of tickets for this incredible night of
- 52:12Speaker 2: live music Friday night. It's going to be incredible. Finally,
- 52:22Speaker 2: this morning the Battle in Burlington, and I know that
- 52:30Speaker 2: they're not calling it. That is coming soon and it's
- 52:36Speaker 2: going to be unbelievable. May second, we want to get
- 52:43Speaker 2: you there. Of course, we're going to give you a
- 52:46Speaker 2: chance to win tickets. Rex is absolutely going to do that.
- 52:50Speaker 2: It is going to be amazing. This is going to
- 52:58Speaker 2: be uh talk about something that's historic. I mean here
- 53:02Speaker 2: it is the very first time in Burlington, the Reckoning
- 53:09Speaker 2: Art of the Eight Limbs, Saturday, May second, six pm
- 53:15Speaker 2: at the Double Tree by Hilton. I'm telling you all
- 53:22Speaker 2: new venue champion fighters that are coming in you do
- 53:27Speaker 2: not want to miss this. Donnybrook Fight Promotions dot com.
- 53:34Speaker 2: And if you think that mixed martial arts is something
- 53:40Speaker 2: that you might not love or get into, try it
- 53:48Speaker 2: just like I did. It is incredible to see these
- 53:53Speaker 2: talented athletes get into a cage and discuss over their
- 54:01Speaker 2: primal side. It is unreal. It is an electric experience.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Highly recommend it. The WTF folder you can now get
- 54:21Speaker 2: your name and I don't know if you heard about
- 54:23Speaker 2: this aboard the Artemis two mission and I was like
- 54:32Speaker 2: when I first heard this, I was like, wait a minute,
- 54:34Speaker 2: how can I get involved? How can I do this?
- 54:38Speaker 2: This has got to be I don't know. Maybe for
- 54:43Speaker 2: the kids, it's fun. I don't know. But you can
- 54:46Speaker 2: now get your name up to the Moon by submitting
- 54:54Speaker 2: your name through the official NASA Send your Name website.
- 55:03Speaker 2: NASA is going to record names on an SD card
- 55:05Speaker 2: which you're going to travel around the Moon and back
- 55:09Speaker 2: on the Orion capsule scheduled for launch no later than
- 55:17Speaker 2: April twenty twenty six. What do you think? Is this
- 55:25Speaker 2: something that you would like to do? What say, ug
- 55:33Speaker 2: I would love to hear. And I promise you this
- 55:40Speaker 2: is going to be something that we are going to
- 55:42Speaker 2: have a good number of laughs about as we go
- 55:46Speaker 2: into the week. Oh, it's free, by the way. You
- 55:54Speaker 2: you just send your name and the Artemis two mission
- 55:59Speaker 2: is going to take your name on the ten day journey,
- 56:02Speaker 2: so your name's going to be traveling about six hundred
- 56:05Speaker 2: and eighty five thousand miles around the Moon. I love
- 56:08Speaker 2: that on an SD card. There's a few names that
- 56:17Speaker 2: I would love to see go to the moon and
- 56:19Speaker 2: frankly never come back. I have a great rest of
- 56:22Speaker 2: your day. Everybody
