Latest / Best of the NFL Podcast Network / The Season with Peter Schrager: Annual Schrager/Daniel Jeremiah Mock Draft
Transcript
- 0:07Speaker 1: The Season with Peter Scheger is a production of the
- 0:09Speaker 1: NFL in partnership with iHeartRadio. What's Up, Everybody, Welcome to
- 0:25Speaker 1: the Season with Peter Schrager. We are now a week
- 0:28Speaker 1: away from the NFL Draft. I put my first NFL
- 0:31Speaker 1: draft out on Tuesday morning, got a ton of responses
- 0:35Speaker 1: from the league, meaning that I tried shaking things up.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I put Hendon Hooker going eleven. I had the Colts
- 0:41Speaker 1: and the Texans doing a rare intra division trade. I
- 0:44Speaker 1: had all sort of the crazy stuff happening, and really
- 0:47Speaker 1: my goal was to be as accurate as possible with
- 0:49Speaker 1: the first mock draft, but that's impossible because the teams
- 0:51Speaker 1: don't even know what they're doing it. But it was
- 0:52Speaker 1: to start getting conversations going with teams. I think Seattle
- 0:56Speaker 1: at five is fascinating. I think there's a very good
- 0:58Speaker 1: chance that both Anthony Richardson and Jalen Carter are both
- 1:01Speaker 1: can be available at five. I think they are both
- 1:03Speaker 1: very high up on the board. Fascinated to see what
- 1:06Speaker 1: Seattle does at five. Stroud to Houston is a big
- 1:10Speaker 1: topic right now. Is it a smoke screen that they're
- 1:13Speaker 1: not interested in Stroud that I've heard that quite a bit.
- 1:16Speaker 1: Or is that just them trying to take the scent
- 1:18Speaker 1: off things, or is that Demiko Ryans, who is a
- 1:20Speaker 1: defensive coach who comes from the forty nine ers who
- 1:22Speaker 1: have not relied on a quarterback to lead them in
- 1:25Speaker 1: the last few years. It's been Jimmy Garoppolo and Brock
- 1:28Speaker 1: Purdy and Trey Lance, and they've been having quite a
- 1:30Speaker 1: bit of success. And it wasn't because of the quarterback position.
- 1:33Speaker 1: It's because of all the other positions of strength, and
- 1:35Speaker 1: because you can draft a guy like Bosa second overall
- 1:38Speaker 1: and have Deebo Samuel as a second round pick, and
- 1:41Speaker 1: you go right down the line, and I wonder if
- 1:45Speaker 1: the Stroud stuff is, you know what, we'll roll with
- 1:48Speaker 1: Davis Mills, or we'll use a quarterback in the second
- 1:51Speaker 1: round or at the twelfth pick, or maybe we trade
- 1:53Speaker 1: back from twelve and get another quarterback at the end
- 1:56Speaker 1: of the first round, whatever it is. I think Houston
- 1:58Speaker 1: is fascinating a ton of vitriol in my timeline and
- 2:02Speaker 1: also on my text from people around the league who
- 2:05Speaker 1: I trust be and like, there would be no chance
- 2:07Speaker 1: in hell that Houston would ever trade the two pick
- 2:11Speaker 1: to the Colts because God forbid, they pass on CJ.
- 2:16Speaker 1: Stroud and he's amazing, and that happens all the time.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Look like, you know how many teams passed on Mahomes
- 2:21Speaker 1: and Trubisky was the Bears quarterback and you heard about that,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and oh my god. But imagine facing CJ. Stroud twice
- 2:29Speaker 1: a year, knowing you passed on him, and you gave
- 2:30Speaker 1: the pick to the intradivision team. So I think that's
- 2:33Speaker 1: probably right. I'll adjust it as we go, but I
- 2:36Speaker 1: had to shake the tree a little bit. Had to
- 2:38Speaker 1: do a little bit of that to get some things
- 2:40Speaker 1: going with conversations. I had Jonathan Mingo going to the
- 2:43Speaker 1: Saints late in the draft, I think twenty ninth was
- 2:47Speaker 1: where they pick, and the response around the league was like,
- 2:49Speaker 1: how the hell do you have Mingo going in the
- 2:51Speaker 1: first round? And damn you for having Mingo going in
- 2:54Speaker 1: the first round, meaning that you know a lot of
- 2:56Speaker 1: teams were hoping to see if he would still be
- 2:58Speaker 1: there in the second round, or maybe a team wanted
- 3:01Speaker 1: to take them and trade back into the first round.
- 3:03Speaker 1: I think Jonathan Mingo, if I was over under based
- 3:06Speaker 1: on the response I got, I would say under the
- 3:09Speaker 1: fifty overall, and right now he's being discussed the third
- 3:12Speaker 1: round pick, so fifty would mean he's at the start
- 3:15Speaker 1: of the second round whatever it is, you know, fifteen
- 3:18Speaker 1: picks into the second round. I think he'll go in
- 3:21Speaker 1: that range based on the response I got there, Bears
- 3:25Speaker 1: fans not thrilled that I had them going with Christian
- 3:28Speaker 1: Gonzalez over the local product Devin Weatherspoon or over a
- 3:32Speaker 1: offensive line pick. I just feel like Christian Gonzales the
- 3:36Speaker 1: top ten pick, and I feel like the Bears are
- 3:37Speaker 1: going to be looking at him and they might be
- 3:39Speaker 1: taking him to add him to their already young, stout
- 3:43Speaker 1: defensive backfield. I love this stuff. I love all the responses.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Will Levis thing is it's a mind bender for me
- 3:52Speaker 1: because I've also heard if Stroud's off the board, he's
- 3:55Speaker 1: the guy for Indianapolis, so that means he can go
- 3:57Speaker 1: as high as fourth overall. I mean that means that
- 4:00Speaker 1: he can go fourth overall. When I say I heard it,
- 4:02Speaker 1: it's not from Chris Ballard the GM. That's from someone
- 4:05Speaker 1: in the agent community who's basically a third or fourth
- 4:08Speaker 1: line of you know, you're doing the Kevin Bacon exercise
- 4:12Speaker 1: where it's the connections to a team. It's just everyone
- 4:15Speaker 1: is talking and it's you know, I got multiple phone
- 4:19Speaker 1: calls yesterday and me picking up the phone and the
- 4:21Speaker 1: phone call being hey, let's just talk about your mock draft,
- 4:24Speaker 1: which I love, and that's from gms around the league.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So that was a ball of clay. A lot of
- 4:30Speaker 1: it was being thrown a little bit at the wall,
- 4:32Speaker 1: but it comes with good information and then we hope
- 4:34Speaker 1: to really chisel it down as we get towards next week.
- 4:38Speaker 1: Today's podcast is an annual tradition for me. It's before
- 4:41Speaker 1: I even had a podcast. We did this on Zoom
- 4:43Speaker 1: and we aired it on the NFL network and then
- 4:45Speaker 1: for years I would come on the move the sixth podcast.
- 4:49Speaker 1: It is a thing that I want to call What's
- 4:51Speaker 1: Up Doc? Can We Mock? And that's an old food
- 4:53Speaker 1: That was an old Foo Schnicken song that Shaq was
- 4:56Speaker 1: What's up, Doc? Can We Rock? This one is gonna
- 4:58Speaker 1: be What's Up, Doc? Can We Mock? And it's with
- 5:00Speaker 1: my guy, Daniel Jeremiah. I think he's the premiere draft
- 5:03Speaker 1: expert in the world. It's him and Mel Kuiper and
- 5:06Speaker 1: then it's everybody else. I love this guy. I think
- 5:09Speaker 1: he's incredible. If you don't know Daniel, his background is
- 5:13Speaker 1: a He was a scout for many years. I believe
- 5:16Speaker 1: it was Baltimore, Cleveland, and then he got into to
- 5:20Speaker 1: the TV game. It started his own thing, started his
- 5:22Speaker 1: own Twitter feed called at Move the Sticks, and I
- 5:26Speaker 1: was turned on to him by Adam Shine, who you
- 5:28Speaker 1: now see Adam Shine. Shine works for CBS and WFM,
- 5:33Speaker 1: but Shine would tweet at him, and I was turned
- 5:35Speaker 1: on to him by I guess like twenty twelve to thirteen.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Eventually started doing stuff with the NFL network, and I'll
- 5:41Speaker 1: put him up against anybody. He's a great dude. We
- 5:44Speaker 1: have a great friendship. We've got to know each other
- 5:46Speaker 1: really well, our families really well. And I trust his
- 5:50Speaker 1: stuff more than anyone. So what we're gonna do is this,
- 5:53Speaker 1: one of us is gonna take the odd numbers, the
- 5:54Speaker 1: other one's gonna take the even numbers. We're gonna rip
- 5:56Speaker 1: through a mock draft and it's almost like speed chess.
- 5:59Speaker 1: We're gonna have thirty seconds on the clock, maybe a
- 6:01Speaker 1: little more. Maybe we can digest some of these picks.
- 6:04Speaker 1: If something shocking and he comes at it with a
- 6:08Speaker 1: view of the scout perspective, but also he's plugged in.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Trust me, DJ's plugged in. He might play it like
- 6:13Speaker 1: I just this is just my big board. He's plugged in,
- 6:16Speaker 1: and I'm coming at it as here's what I think
- 6:19Speaker 1: makes sense for that team. We'll get Daniel Jeremiah on
- 6:22Speaker 1: the pod in about a second. Until then, get your
- 6:26Speaker 1: mock boards out, get your big boards out, put yourself
- 6:29Speaker 1: on the clock. I want you to play along with us.
- 6:31Speaker 1: How would you do it if you were in these shoes,
- 6:34Speaker 1: if you're listening on a treadmill, if you're listening on
- 6:36Speaker 1: a commute, if you're listening before you go to bed.
- 6:38Speaker 1: Hopefully you stay up for long enough for this, play
- 6:41Speaker 1: along with us. Put yourselves in the shoes of these teams.
- 6:43Speaker 1: And then when it's all done, Aaron, Aaron Wan Kaufman
- 6:46Speaker 1: is on the mics. Aaron, we'll have a chance to
- 6:50Speaker 1: digest all of it. We'll be able to go through
- 6:51Speaker 1: it one through thirty one. You're keeping track, right.
- 6:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I got it all set up for us.
- 6:56Speaker 1: All right, beautiful. We might give you an opportunity. You
- 6:58Speaker 1: might pick a random team in Aaron, you can draft
- 7:00Speaker 1: for him and just set this thing out put handon
- 7:05Speaker 1: hooker number three overall, unless just have fun, let's get
- 7:08Speaker 1: it go on. Daniel Jeremiah, what's up, doc hem we
- 7:10Speaker 1: mock Let's go home. As I said in the introduction,
- 7:19Speaker 1: I love no draft expert more than this guy. And
- 7:21Speaker 1: he's also happens to be a great friend. And this
- 7:24Speaker 1: is an annual tradition. Daniel Jeremiah aka Move the Sticks.
- 7:27Speaker 1: Welcome to the season with Peter Scheger.
- 7:29Speaker 2: What's going on, buddy?
- 7:31Speaker 1: All is great. We were on a show called Mock
- 7:34Speaker 1: Draft Live yesterday on the NFL Network and you were
- 7:37Speaker 1: very civil, very kind. And then I was watching some
- 7:39Speaker 1: other show that they had you on Path to the
- 7:41Speaker 1: Draft and the hosts and well, Danian, Tomlinson and Matthew
- 7:44Speaker 1: Judan are all tearing my my mock draft apart. But you,
- 7:48Speaker 1: as a good friend, you had my back on a
- 7:50Speaker 1: couple of these things. That's why I say, I appreciate you.
- 7:52Speaker 1: Don't throw me right down the river, which I love.
- 7:55Speaker 2: No, come on, dude, and I would if it sucked.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I mean, I'm a good friend, but I'm honest, and
- 8:01Speaker 2: it was to me. I always look at mock drafts
- 8:03Speaker 2: like thought exercises and they're good, they're good driven pieces,
- 8:08Speaker 2: and that Okay, well, you know you can say this
- 8:10Speaker 2: is never going to happen, but you're assuming A B
- 8:12Speaker 2: and C. So if this thing changes, your whole thing's
- 8:16Speaker 2: out the window. So you gave us some new scenarios
- 8:19Speaker 2: and possibilities, which I think is great.
- 8:21Speaker 1: Real quick, off the top of this thing, I want
- 8:23Speaker 1: to give you just two topics and then just we'll
- 8:25Speaker 1: bat them around, because I feel like they're becoming more
- 8:28Speaker 1: and more a conversation piece. Houston at two the latest
- 8:31Speaker 1: as we record this midweek before the draft, like, what
- 8:34Speaker 1: are you hearing hit Houston at two?
- 8:37Speaker 2: I mean, the it went from being whispers about them
- 8:40Speaker 2: not taking Stroud. You know, I think we're all on
- 8:42Speaker 2: the same page that price is going to go one,
- 8:45Speaker 2: and if that happens, then A long thought that Stroud
- 8:48Speaker 2: would go. And then when I heard the whispers previously,
- 8:50Speaker 2: I thought, I'm not buying it. They have to take
- 8:52Speaker 2: a quarterback. They have to. And then now it's like
- 8:55Speaker 2: not a whisper, it's deafening, and it's from everybody you
- 8:57Speaker 2: talk to around the league, like nobody thinks they're going
- 8:59Speaker 2: to do it. Nobody thinks they're going to take Stroud.
- 9:01Speaker 2: You list out a bunch of the reasons on your
- 9:03Speaker 2: on your pod, we did on TV yesterday. But that's
- 9:06Speaker 2: what I'm hearing. I mean, the only thing that I
- 9:08Speaker 2: would say is I talked to one person yesterday who
- 9:10Speaker 2: brought up a great point. And I do believe this
- 9:14Speaker 2: that if ninety nine of the one hundred people involved
- 9:17Speaker 2: in this whole process in the Houston organization say don't
- 9:20Speaker 2: take Stroud, and the one of them that does is
- 9:22Speaker 2: the owner, it doesn't matter what. It doesn't matter what
- 9:25Speaker 2: Nick wants to do, It doesn't matter what Demico wants
- 9:27Speaker 2: to do. If the owner says, guys, we're taking a quarterback,
- 9:29Speaker 2: You're taking a quarterback. Yep.
- 9:32Speaker 1: The other team is the Colts. I said in the
- 9:34Speaker 1: intro to this thing. The biggest response I got from
- 9:36Speaker 1: the Colts was that, you know, not from the people
- 9:39Speaker 1: in the building was they're taking quarterback no matter what.
- 9:42Speaker 1: And if it's not Stroud, will Lewis is the name
- 9:44Speaker 1: that keeps on coming up. And I don't have a
- 9:46Speaker 1: team for Levis outside of the Colts, but here I
- 9:49Speaker 1: am saying Levis is going to go after Hendon Hooker.
- 9:51Speaker 1: In my first mock draft and he might go on
- 9:52Speaker 1: the top four I've had.
- 9:55Speaker 2: There's a lot of people, and not just one. There's
- 9:57Speaker 2: a lot of people that believe if all three of
- 10:00Speaker 2: those guys are there, when the Colts pick at four,
- 10:02Speaker 2: that they'll take Levis over Stroud.
- 10:04Speaker 1: Over Stroud, I was thinking over Street.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Okay, I have the people that think that they have
- 10:09Speaker 2: Levis is their guy and they would take him. So yeah,
- 10:14Speaker 2: if that happens. If that happens, all everything's going to
- 10:17Speaker 2: break loose man.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, And you mentioned the owner in Houston. I
- 10:20Speaker 1: don't think any owner has more leverage over coach GM
- 10:25Speaker 1: fan base right now than Jim irsay, and as much
- 10:27Speaker 1: as you want to say, his daughters might be transitioning
- 10:30Speaker 1: into leadership roles and you might say, okay, well, Chris Ballert,
- 10:33Speaker 1: I feel like this is like, you know, the owner
- 10:35Speaker 1: is gonna have a very large voice in this and
- 10:37Speaker 1: if he fell in love with Levis, well then we'll
- 10:39Speaker 1: leve us it is.
- 10:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so we'll see. It's going to be fascinating. Buddy,
- 10:44Speaker 2: what are we what are we doing here? Were rock
- 10:45Speaker 2: and roll?
- 10:45Speaker 1: Okay, so here's how it works. Yeah, so Aaron, you
- 10:48Speaker 1: are going to do the honors. You're going to flip
- 10:50Speaker 1: a coin, and because DJ is the visiting team, he's
- 10:54Speaker 1: going to pick heads or tails. He will then be
- 10:55Speaker 1: able to pick if he wants to be the odds
- 10:57Speaker 1: the evens in this mock draft exercise, Aaron, why don't
- 11:01Speaker 1: you get that coin out? DJ? Heads or tails? What
- 11:03Speaker 1: do you call?
- 11:04Speaker 2: Tails? Never fails? Let's come on, obvious. Give it to me, Aaron.
- 11:08Speaker 2: What we got we're flipping? It's tails, DJ, it's your pick.
- 11:12Speaker 2: You want to go odds or evens? I mean I'm
- 11:14Speaker 2: going to go odds. I want the first pick. Man, Okay,
- 11:17Speaker 2: all right, here we go.
- 11:19Speaker 1: This is crazy, all right, So for the listeners, we
- 11:21Speaker 1: want you guys to listen along and do this in
- 11:23Speaker 1: your own head. But also the rules no traits, no
- 11:27Speaker 1: no traits, So just straight up. Panthers are at number one?
- 11:31Speaker 1: What are you taken, Daniel Jeremiah.
- 11:33Speaker 2: I'm going to take Bryce Young first pick. I think
- 11:35Speaker 2: he's the best player in the draft. I think it's
- 11:37Speaker 2: also who they are going to take, so it all
- 11:39Speaker 2: marries up quite easily for me there with the first pick.
- 11:42Speaker 1: All right, Number two overall the Houston Texans. A bit
- 11:47Speaker 1: of a shocker here, the Houston Texans are going to
- 11:49Speaker 1: take time Texas Tech. This is the same like treyvon
- 11:56Speaker 1: Walker over Aiden Hutchinson type of selection. They're going with
- 11:59Speaker 1: the athletic freak. We had him on Good Morning Football.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Not a man of many words to tell you that much,
- 12:03Speaker 1: and yet he is an absolute freak show when he
- 12:05Speaker 1: walks into the studio six seven sixty six to seventy two,
- 12:10Speaker 1: says he can run a four four forty and uh oh, yeah,
- 12:12Speaker 1: he has an eighty six inch wingspan. And I didn't
- 12:15Speaker 1: realize this DJ. You might know. His defensive cornator this
- 12:18Speaker 1: past year was a defensive coordinator for Keevon Thibadeau, but
- 12:21Speaker 1: also Miles Garrett von Miller, And I feel like this
- 12:24Speaker 1: guy's been well coached. He's ready to go Texas Kid.
- 12:26Speaker 1: He goes to the Houston text and second overall.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I know, I just wonder the only thing about that,
- 12:31Speaker 2: and I know there are teams that that feel this way.
- 12:34Speaker 2: I like him. He's my fourth overall player. I've had
- 12:36Speaker 2: him at my top ten through the whole process. But
- 12:39Speaker 2: can Dimico go back? Is Nick Saban allow him to
- 12:41Speaker 2: come back into the building if he doesn't.
- 12:43Speaker 1: Take the right Yeah, But Dimiko is an Alabama guy, right, so.
- 12:49Speaker 2: This is this is the time of here is real quick.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I'll give you this one. So Chris cas Cirk wileys
- 12:54Speaker 2: the best.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Niners D line coach.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Yep, Niners D line coach, and everybody's like, Okay, well
- 12:59Speaker 2: he's gonna love Tyree Wilson. He fits what they do.
- 13:02Speaker 2: Chris Caserq went to Texas Tech, so that and then
- 13:04Speaker 2: Chris Caserk and Demiko ran work together. So if you
- 13:08Speaker 2: take that and this, and then I'm like, yeah, Demiko
- 13:10Speaker 2: went to Alabama, Like are we just gonna So it's
- 13:13Speaker 2: gonna be fascinating to see what they do.
- 13:16Speaker 1: That's so good Will Anderson who we might take it
- 13:19Speaker 1: the next week. I didn't realize this second most sacks
- 13:21Speaker 1: and tackles for a loss in Alabama history, behind only
- 13:24Speaker 1: Derek Thomas. Okay, third overall. The Arizona Cardinals, new GM,
- 13:29Speaker 1: new head coach, and a franchise that's going through some
- 13:32Speaker 1: stuff right now, who's to pick?
- 13:34Speaker 2: Well, I'm going to take Will Anderson. I'll remove the
- 13:37Speaker 2: suspense there. To me, I think that we're not even established,
- 13:40Speaker 2: we're not doing trades here. But of anybody that should
- 13:44Speaker 2: be motivated to trade upper trade down in this draft.
- 13:46Speaker 2: To me, the Cardinals trading down should be the most
- 13:49Speaker 2: motivated team. I don't know where you are, pet, but
- 13:51Speaker 2: to me, they're the worst roster in the NFL right now.
- 13:54Speaker 2: They're not picking first, but they are the worst in
- 13:56Speaker 2: terms of where they're at from a roster standpoint. There
- 13:58Speaker 2: is a lot of needs in one player. As great
- 14:01Speaker 2: as Will Anderson is, as much as I love him,
- 14:03Speaker 2: they need a lot more.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Let me ask you, is there a player or a
- 14:06Speaker 1: team that you think, let's start with player. Is there
- 14:09Speaker 1: a player say that goes that way young Wilson? Is
- 14:12Speaker 1: there a player that is worth trading up for that you? Like?
- 14:14Speaker 1: Stroud had all this early buzz at the top of it, like,
- 14:16Speaker 1: is someone going to be trading up for CJ. Stroud?
- 14:18Speaker 1: Is someone going to be trading up to get Will?
- 14:21Speaker 1: I don't know. That's the problem. So I think they
- 14:23Speaker 1: would love to trade back, but they're not going to
- 14:24Speaker 1: do it for sixty cents on a dollar.
- 14:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know. I mean the
- 14:28Speaker 2: thing is, I think, you know, I keep an eye
- 14:31Speaker 2: on the Raiders, maybe as a wild card, but I
- 14:34Speaker 2: don't know. I feel like the Raiders have a pretty
- 14:36Speaker 2: they have a lot of veterans, man, they still I mean,
- 14:39Speaker 2: I just have a hard time thinking they want to
- 14:41Speaker 2: break one in right now. Just see what they can
- 14:42Speaker 2: get out of Jimmy for the next few years and
- 14:44Speaker 2: try and make a run at it.
- 14:46Speaker 1: All right, So interesting, so so far we got Bryce Young,
- 14:49Speaker 1: Tyree Wilson, and then Will Anderson. I don't say any
- 14:52Speaker 1: mock drives doing that. And that's just one, two, three
- 14:54Speaker 1: colts in the spirit of our conversation. For the sake
- 14:57Speaker 1: of mixing this thing up, they will shock the world
- 15:00Speaker 1: and maybe by the time it's Thursday, it's not. Will
- 15:02Speaker 1: Levis quarterback Kentucky fourth overall to the Indianapolis.
- 15:07Speaker 2: Cult, and I don't think it's crazy. It would not
- 15:10Speaker 2: surprise me at all. You can connect the dots there
- 15:14Speaker 2: with him. I know he was a manning camp guy.
- 15:17Speaker 2: I know Peyton's still you know, I know Peyton still
- 15:21Speaker 2: carries weight in that organization. I can I can see
- 15:24Speaker 2: this happening, and that will send some shockwaves, send some
- 15:28Speaker 2: shock waves out there.
- 15:30Speaker 1: So now Seattle is fifth on the clock. Where now
- 15:32Speaker 1: I think the draft is like it's now, it's way.
- 15:34Speaker 2: Up in the air right, it's wild. And I think
- 15:37Speaker 2: that Seattle it was almost like they were going out
- 15:39Speaker 2: of their way. All the pictures with all the quarterbacks.
- 15:41Speaker 2: It's almost it's over the top. It was almost too much.
- 15:43Speaker 2: I equate it to a team who is constantly sending
- 15:47Speaker 2: their parents pictures of them at a place that you
- 15:49Speaker 2: think they're at. When you're like, okay, you sent me
- 15:51Speaker 2: the one picture from you at the library, but like
- 15:53Speaker 2: this is the fourth one. I'm beginning to think you
- 15:55Speaker 2: might not be at the library.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I think you said on total access like Bible study. Yeah.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah, it's just too much. So I actually I think
- 16:08Speaker 2: they would love to have got those two defensive players
- 16:12Speaker 2: that are now off the board. I think this puts
- 16:14Speaker 2: them a little bit in scramble mode. And I think
- 16:17Speaker 2: when they look at it and you stack up, what's there.
- 16:21Speaker 2: I think at this point in time, while they weren't
- 16:24Speaker 2: planning on quarterback, I don't think they were planning on
- 16:26Speaker 2: Stroud being there. So I'm gonna go with c J.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Stroud here with the Seahawks.
- 16:33Speaker 1: They love it. CJ. Stroud goes fifth to the Seattle Seahawks,
- 16:45Speaker 1: which brings up the Detroit Lions at six something to
- 16:49Speaker 1: note they have character guys up and down that roster,
- 16:54Speaker 1: and Chris Pielman is all about character, and Brad Holmes
- 16:57Speaker 1: comes from the Rams who they do things with the character.
- 16:59Speaker 1: And I'm not saying Jalen Carter has a giant red
- 17:02Speaker 1: flag as a character because of the stuff that he's
- 17:04Speaker 1: gone through over the last few months. But there are
- 17:06Speaker 1: a questions about his makeup, about his off the field stuff,
- 17:08Speaker 1: about his history. I wonder if he's on Detroit's board.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I have him going to the Lions in my mock draft.
- 17:15Speaker 1: I'm going to go back to that pick. I'm going
- 17:17Speaker 1: to go Jalen Carter to the Detroit Lions and just say,
- 17:21Speaker 1: at the end of the day, you put him in
- 17:22Speaker 1: a good environment, you put him around next to Aiden Hutchinson,
- 17:25Speaker 1: and you give him Aaron Glenn and Dan Campbell, and
- 17:27Speaker 1: this guy's going to flourish. Jalen Carter goes sixth to
- 17:30Speaker 1: the Detroit Lions.
- 17:31Speaker 2: Okay, Yeah, he's a great player, there's no question about that.
- 17:35Speaker 2: And I've had a tough time paging him. There seems
- 17:38Speaker 2: to be sentiment that teams I've talked to do not
- 17:41Speaker 2: expect Seattle. I thought Seattle would be in play with
- 17:44Speaker 2: Jalen Carter. The stuff I've got back was the Malik
- 17:47Speaker 2: McDowell experience. Then Seattle could have soured them on taking
- 17:52Speaker 2: a chance here. So we'll see interesting, all right. The
- 17:55Speaker 2: Raiders at seven. If you look at the New England
- 17:59Speaker 2: Patriots secondary, it's kind of shocking. I don't think people
- 18:03Speaker 2: realize this, but Bill Belichick has played with a lot
- 18:05Speaker 2: of undersized corners recently. Look at Jack Jones, what he's
- 18:08Speaker 2: done there. They have played with smaller guys that have instincts,
- 18:12Speaker 2: toughness and awareness. And if you look at that guy
- 18:14Speaker 2: in this draft, it's Devin Witherspoon for Illinois and the
- 18:17Speaker 2: Raiders have needs. But to me, I think it's corner.
- 18:20Speaker 2: I think it's between him and Gonzales. Gonzalez gives you
- 18:22Speaker 2: all the size. Weatherspoon I think is a better football player,
- 18:26Speaker 2: and they need somebody that can take the ball away.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I had the number here, whereas it the Raiders last
- 18:31Speaker 2: year dead last the takeaways. So get somebody to take
- 18:34Speaker 2: the football away.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I like it. Falcons at a wow. You know, the
- 18:38Speaker 1: Falcons fan base is pretty loud on Twitter. I had
- 18:40Speaker 1: them going Nolan Smith in my mock draft I might
- 18:44Speaker 1: give him there, but Scaransky sitting there now at a
- 18:47Speaker 1: is intriguing. You know, they've got a good offensive line.
- 18:50Speaker 1: They brought back to you guys with new deals. Scaransky.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It's a lot of love Northwestern guy, you know what.
- 18:57Speaker 1: Eighth overall, I will give them Peter Skaransky out of Northwestern.
- 19:02Speaker 1: I have not seen offensive line a lot of places
- 19:04Speaker 1: to the Falcons, but I think they continue to build
- 19:06Speaker 1: up on that offense, and they addressed the defense in
- 19:08Speaker 1: a million ways over the offseason.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Okay, so we go Peter Skarnski there. That puts me
- 19:15Speaker 2: on the board here with the Bears at nine, all right,
- 19:22Speaker 2: this is gonna be an interesting one here. I can
- 19:26Speaker 2: go on. I can go in some different directions with
- 19:28Speaker 2: the Bears. You know, somebody told me don't sleep on
- 19:33Speaker 2: Bijeon with them either. By the way, I love.
- 19:38Speaker 1: Who's there starting? Who are starting running back? Khalil Herbert
- 19:40Speaker 1: right now? I don't know, man, that could be a
- 19:42Speaker 1: major upgrade.
- 19:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean they you know they bought they brought
- 19:45Speaker 2: over Deante Foreman. Yeah they got.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Yeah, Okay, another Texas So.
- 19:53Speaker 2: Gosh, that's that's fun. That's that's intriguing. Gosh, this is
- 19:59Speaker 2: this is my hardest one. This team last year, by
- 20:02Speaker 2: the way, last defensively, last in points per game. Uh,
- 20:05Speaker 2: third down sas ant sacks or third downs an sacks,
- 20:08Speaker 2: They're They're the worst. They're terrible Russian. So I know
- 20:11Speaker 2: they've brought in a lot of D line and they've
- 20:12Speaker 2: made an investment there. I was gonna take Scarrotsky. You
- 20:18Speaker 2: took them right in front of me. Yeah, gosh, I
- 20:23Speaker 2: might just go and say, they're going to try and
- 20:25Speaker 2: get a big, clean player, and I'll give him a corner.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I'll give him Gonzales.
- 20:28Speaker 1: It's a good pick. It's a good pick. You can't
- 20:32Speaker 1: go wrong with that pick. Christian.
- 20:35Speaker 2: I think it's I think that the Bijon thing is
- 20:38Speaker 2: is even though they've got some backs they can line
- 20:40Speaker 2: up and play with, they don't have anybody like him,
- 20:42Speaker 2: So that would be one I wouldn't sleep on with them,
- 20:44Speaker 2: but I'll give him a corner.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Yeah, I think we agree that at ten. You know,
- 20:50Speaker 1: Jim Rosenhouse is on HBO this week and he's talking
- 20:52Speaker 1: about having a team that's that's told him Jalen Carr
- 20:56Speaker 1: is going to go there now like I took him
- 20:58Speaker 1: with Detroit. If he doesn't go to Detroit. This is
- 21:00Speaker 1: a landing spot that a lot of people have the
- 21:02Speaker 1: Eagles going there. He's off the board. There's a lot
- 21:05Speaker 1: of good guys, a lot of good offensive linemen here
- 21:09Speaker 1: that are still on the board. But I think this
- 21:11Speaker 1: is the year the Eagles break the trend and for
- 21:13Speaker 1: the first time since the nineteen eighties, they take a
- 21:15Speaker 1: running back. I'll go Bijon Robinson tenth overall to the Eagles.
- 21:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm clapping for you right now because I've been
- 21:23Speaker 2: lobbying for this and it's you know, I've worked in
- 21:26Speaker 2: that personal department for two years. I know their thoughts
- 21:28Speaker 2: on running backs and they don't do it. I think
- 21:30Speaker 2: this is a different year. I don't know, we talked
- 21:32Speaker 2: about this on TV that they kicked around. We don't
- 21:34Speaker 2: need to expound on it. But to me, I just
- 21:36Speaker 2: think it's them and the Niners. It's it's really a
- 21:38Speaker 2: two team conference right now. And that's one thing the
- 21:40Speaker 2: Niners have that they don't. I mean, they don't have
- 21:42Speaker 2: Christian McCaffrey's a difference maker. The Lions didn't. I mean,
- 21:45Speaker 2: I think did the Niners lose after he got there,
- 21:47Speaker 2: until they lost all the quarterbacks against the even the lost.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I think they lost. They might have lost the first
- 21:52Speaker 1: game that they played, and then I think they got
- 21:54Speaker 1: blown out by the Chiefs, and then from that point
- 21:55Speaker 1: on they liked won every game.
- 21:57Speaker 2: Yeah, so I like that one. All right, I've got
- 21:59Speaker 2: the Titans at eleven.
- 22:01Speaker 1: Hey, real quick, what's your what's your comfort? Bijon Robinson.
- 22:04Speaker 1: I've been saying Saquon on air, and people are.
- 22:06Speaker 2: I go back, I go back, old school Edrian James.
- 22:10Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good one. That's really good.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I don't I mean he actually, I mean just the
- 22:14Speaker 2: way he kind of he moves around side. Yeah, he
- 22:18Speaker 2: kind of looks like LT. But I just I just
- 22:21Speaker 2: being around LT, like, I can't. I can't. I can't.
- 22:24Speaker 2: I just can't. I have too much reverence for LT.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I can't do it. But all right, we get to
- 22:29Speaker 2: the Tennessee Titans here, all right, Tennessee Titans. This is
- 22:36Speaker 2: a team that's offensively challenged, to say the least. So
- 22:40Speaker 2: we're sitting here right now. They've got Anthony Richardson still
- 22:42Speaker 2: on the board, so we're in a situation. Now. We've
- 22:44Speaker 2: got a little bit of a free fall here.
- 22:46Speaker 1: Pete Richardson, and we also have Hooker still on the board.
- 22:52Speaker 1: If you're talking about the five quarterbacks.
- 22:54Speaker 2: Yeah, so the Titans note here, uh still need there
- 23:03Speaker 2: on the offensive line white out wise. I just don't
- 23:07Speaker 2: think they have any firepower. So even though he's my
- 23:11Speaker 2: second receiver, I'm going to give him Jackson Smith and
- 23:14Speaker 2: Jigba here and take off the board. They just need
- 23:17Speaker 2: some more punch. They need some more firepower offensively, So
- 23:21Speaker 2: I'll go in that direction. See if him at trailing
- 23:23Speaker 2: Burks can get them going a little bit.
- 23:25Speaker 1: All right, Now, Look, if the Texans pass on Stroud
- 23:29Speaker 1: and Levis and Richardson at two, if Richardson's sitting there
- 23:33Speaker 1: at twelve, do they say, well, it wasn't in our
- 23:36Speaker 1: plan to take quarterback. We had a very strict plan here,
- 23:39Speaker 1: and we're going to go defense and maybe whatever else
- 23:41Speaker 1: at twelve, go offensive line. But gosh, Richardson sitting there
- 23:43Speaker 1: at twelve, and then it's like we've been waiting all
- 23:47Speaker 1: these years today quarterback. Do we want to take the
- 23:48Speaker 1: fourth one off the board. That's a real tough decision.
- 23:52Speaker 1: Or do you just go offensive line, defense, build up
- 23:55Speaker 1: your team, get a wide receiver here?
- 23:58Speaker 2: Crap?
- 23:58Speaker 1: I'm going to say, Anthony Richardson twelve to the Texans,
- 24:01Speaker 1: I don't think they planned on taking them too. And
- 24:04Speaker 1: then here he is at twelve, and may your future
- 24:07Speaker 1: plans of Caleb Wilson or whoever else you might have
- 24:09Speaker 1: think can get there next year or just out the window,
- 24:11Speaker 1: and you go Anthony Richardson right here.
- 24:13Speaker 2: Okay, Anthony and Richardson off the board. Now we get
- 24:17Speaker 2: to the New York Jets. Jets could go in a
- 24:21Speaker 2: lot of different areas. Everybody always I always kick around
- 24:26Speaker 2: the idea of them taking a defensive lineman, and then
- 24:29Speaker 2: they go, that's the deepest position on our team. They're
- 24:31Speaker 2: never they would never do that, blah blah blah blah blah.
- 24:33Speaker 2: And I'm like, you know their background, you know Joe's background,
- 24:36Speaker 2: you know what they.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Just give me Joe and Sala I mean yes.
- 24:40Speaker 2: And yeah exactly, And look at where this team could
- 24:43Speaker 2: be next year. Carl Lawson is probably not going to
- 24:45Speaker 2: be there. You look at Huff is not going to
- 24:49Speaker 2: be there. So you're gonna take a couple of guys
- 24:51Speaker 2: out of that mix. And it's like, Okay, well I
- 24:53Speaker 2: wouldn't I wouldn't totally roll that out, but I still
- 24:56Speaker 2: think they've been caught with offensive line depth issues. Makai Beckton,
- 25:00Speaker 2: as much as I love him when he's on the field,
- 25:01Speaker 2: he hasn't been able to stay on the field. I
- 25:03Speaker 2: think they have to go offensive line here. For for me,
- 25:06Speaker 2: this is again, this is not the order that I
- 25:08Speaker 2: have them. This is where I'm going to say it
- 25:10Speaker 2: goes and I'll say Rodert Jones from Georgia.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I like it, which brings up the Patriots
- 25:18Speaker 1: at fourteen. Gosh, Patriots signed Juju.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Right, Yep, They've signed Juju. And there's another wide out
- 25:26Speaker 2: there too with Juju, and they brought into Sicki at
- 25:32Speaker 2: the tight end and then yeah, there's still though there's
- 25:35Speaker 2: nobody on there. There's nobody in there receiving core that
- 25:37Speaker 2: you go like, that's a guy we have to game
- 25:39Speaker 2: plan against.
- 25:40Speaker 1: I know, I know, all right, Patriots. Patriots will go
- 25:47Speaker 1: Paris Johnson offensive line, move him inside, with him at
- 25:51Speaker 1: the tackle spot, put him at guar whatever it is,
- 25:53Speaker 1: just add to that offensive line. They did col strange
- 25:56Speaker 1: last year. They get another one this year, and they
- 25:58Speaker 1: continue to beef up the line for whoever's going to
- 26:00Speaker 1: be their long term.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Quarterback as let me just pull this up for make
- 26:04Speaker 2: sure I'm crossing them off the lift. So you go,
- 26:06Speaker 2: Paris Johnson, check him off. We've got you know, this
- 26:10Speaker 2: is one of these deals about this exercise. You know,
- 26:12Speaker 2: I think you're probably the same as me. I've said,
- 26:14Speaker 2: Nolan Smith's going to go, He's not gonna He's not
- 26:18Speaker 2: going to drop. He's sitting here, not very any And
- 26:20Speaker 2: I know the packers could look at other areas, but
- 26:24Speaker 2: to me, this gives him a fastball. I hope for
- 26:27Speaker 2: Shan Gary could stay healthy.
- 26:28Speaker 1: Yeah, but dude, like I'm gonna I'm going to tell
- 26:31Speaker 1: you something about that, the dropping and all that. Last year,
- 26:34Speaker 1: Jermaine Johnson, everyone you spoke to in the world said
- 26:36Speaker 1: he's going top ten. He's got to. The Jets are
- 26:38Speaker 1: sitting there at twenty six. The year before that, Rashan
- 26:41Speaker 1: Slater will not escape the top ten. Will that it happens.
- 26:43Speaker 1: He's sitting.
- 26:44Speaker 2: It happens.
- 26:45Speaker 1: It really does happen. And I don't want it to
- 26:47Speaker 1: happen to Nolan Smith, just as well could happen to
- 26:49Speaker 1: Bijeon or Peter Skarnski or whoever. But like this is
- 26:52Speaker 1: how the draft goes other teams take other players, and
- 26:54Speaker 1: similarly the Packers. You didn't expect in a million years
- 26:56Speaker 1: that Nolan Smith is gonna be sitting there at fifteen
- 26:58Speaker 1: and you don't want to go just defense, defense, defense
- 27:00Speaker 1: every year. But there he is.
- 27:02Speaker 2: My all counts. Great, great dude too. Character wise, all
- 27:05Speaker 2: that stuff off the charts, and they're collecting a lot
- 27:08Speaker 2: of Georgia players. They went Wyatt and kowy Walker previously.
- 27:12Speaker 2: Now they go back and dip into that. Well, so uh,
- 27:15Speaker 2: I'm gonna take care. I just thought, you know, with
- 27:18Speaker 2: with Nolan Smith, somebody brought up a great example the
- 27:20Speaker 2: other day, which was you. I was talking to a
- 27:23Speaker 2: GM about it and I was using the Hassan Reddit
- 27:25Speaker 2: company said, you know what, I think you can use
- 27:27Speaker 2: him like the Cowboys use Michael Parsons. Let him just
- 27:31Speaker 2: kind of be that walk around blitzer I think they
- 27:33Speaker 2: prefer to as a spinner and you can rush him
- 27:35Speaker 2: and play them off the ball if you want. But
- 27:36Speaker 2: I'm gonna go there, Okay, all.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Right, that's all right. And then you know you're looking
- 27:42Speaker 1: at defense still here as I went to the Commanders
- 27:45Speaker 1: and they've they're another team that's loaded on defense and
- 27:47Speaker 1: then I've got van Ness on the board, and you're like,
- 27:49Speaker 1: do you just add another pass rusher.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Right?
- 27:53Speaker 1: Like they have all those guys like you know what, Uh,
- 27:58Speaker 1: I'm gonna go with h I'm gonna go with another
- 28:00Speaker 1: skill position. They last year they got Dotson in the
- 28:03Speaker 1: first round. I'm gonna go with Dalton Utah as the
- 28:07Speaker 1: sixteenth overall pick. I'm not convinced on their quarterback situation
- 28:12Speaker 1: with Brissette and Howell, but there's not a quarterback I
- 28:14Speaker 1: don't think they're taking at sixteen right there that's going
- 28:17Speaker 1: to be playing instead. So Dalton Kincaid, I like it.
- 28:20Speaker 2: I'm going to go Darnell right tackle Tennessee with the Steelers.
- 28:24Speaker 2: So the Steelers, you know, if you're looking at those
- 28:27Speaker 2: that tier of tackles, this is the last one you've got.
- 28:30Speaker 2: Rodert Jones's gone, Paris Johnson's gone. This is the next
- 28:34Speaker 2: one in line. And if you look at the corner position,
- 28:36Speaker 2: where I think they could look here as well. There's
- 28:39Speaker 2: some good names on the board, but I think the
- 28:41Speaker 2: tackle group falls off a cliff. So if you want
- 28:43Speaker 2: to tackle in a corner, I think you have to
- 28:45Speaker 2: take the tackle first and wait for the corner.
- 28:48Speaker 1: Okay, smart, that was sort of what the Giants had
- 28:51Speaker 1: the decision last year, and they said we could wait
- 28:53Speaker 1: on evan Neil, but Thibodeau is there now, We're going
- 28:55Speaker 1: to take Thibodaux right here. And then Evan Neil was
- 28:57Speaker 1: there when they were drafting Lions eighteen, Lions traded away,
- 29:06Speaker 1: they added a lot on defensive back. And yet I'm
- 29:09Speaker 1: looking at Joey Porter Junior sitting there. I believe it
- 29:12Speaker 1: was you who said this our Colleen Wolf yesterday, which
- 29:14Speaker 1: was shocking. There has never been a Penn State defense
- 29:18Speaker 1: in the first round. That's a weird statu And then
- 29:22Speaker 1: yet I'm trying to think of Penn State defensive backs
- 29:24Speaker 1: and not many come to mind. So I guess it
- 29:25Speaker 1: does make sense Joey Porter Junior will be my pick
- 29:28Speaker 1: at eighteen, meaning that their two first round picks are
- 29:31Speaker 1: Jalen Carter and Joey Porter Junior. Pretty good.
- 29:34Speaker 2: I feel like you're sliding Troy Apke personally tricky.
- 29:38Speaker 1: He's not a nice little career.
- 29:40Speaker 2: Yeah, all right, Tampa, Tampa is sitting here at nineteen,
- 29:47Speaker 2: and I'm looking at Head and Hooker is still being
- 29:50Speaker 2: a possibility here. He's still out there. But I think
- 29:57Speaker 2: when you look at where things are and what's still
- 29:59Speaker 2: left on the board, I think with van s still
- 30:01Speaker 2: being there, I think I'm going to lean in that direction.
- 30:04Speaker 2: I think it's about value pick at this point in time.
- 30:07Speaker 2: Give them another another weapon they can deploy on that front.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Lucas van Ness out of Iowa. I love that kid.
- 30:16Speaker 1: I love him as the town. I don't know where
- 30:17Speaker 1: he goes in the draft. I've heard someone tell me
- 30:19Speaker 1: that you know you took Nolan Smith and your mock
- 30:22Speaker 1: when van Ness is on the board, you know, van
- 30:25Speaker 1: Ness is over Smith on our board. O, my god,
- 30:26Speaker 1: that's interesting. You know the teams, teams are different, teams
- 30:30Speaker 1: are different. Seahawks they got fifth overall. Here you had
- 30:37Speaker 1: the Seahawks taking c. J. Stroud, which is awesome.
- 30:44Speaker 2: Months ago, right right, it's so good.
- 30:47Speaker 1: Seahawks back on the board and I'm gonna go Seahawks. Seahawks.
- 31:00Speaker 1: Oh man, the Seahawks are pretty loaded, you know, like
- 31:02Speaker 1: it's just like it's this fun team where they actually
- 31:05Speaker 1: with all their d fixed yesterday last year playing. They've
- 31:08Speaker 1: got a lot of talent Seahawks I will select. I'm
- 31:19Speaker 1: debating between offensive line and pass Rusher, and gosh, I'm
- 31:27Speaker 1: gonna go with Oh Cyrus Torrance out of Florida, big guard,
- 31:32Speaker 1: add another guy to block up the middle, and you've
- 31:35Speaker 1: got your Kenneth Walker and all that stuff. But I
- 31:37Speaker 1: did not have him in my first round in my
- 31:39Speaker 1: mock draft. I've not heard him use many places. Second
- 31:42Speaker 1: pick in top twenty, here we go, O Cyrus Torrance
- 31:46Speaker 1: did not see that happening, all right?
- 31:47Speaker 2: I like it. That leaves me with the Chargers, right, So, yep,
- 31:54Speaker 2: a lot of different ways they can go. I'm going
- 31:58Speaker 2: to go knowing full well what they already have in
- 32:01Speaker 2: this position group and knowing that I don't know how
- 32:05Speaker 2: long it's going to continue with Keenan and Mike together there.
- 32:08Speaker 2: And I love Josh Palmer is a really good player.
- 32:11Speaker 2: But I've developed this thing called the Mahomes doctrine. Feel
- 32:15Speaker 2: free to take it. But the Mahomes doctrine states that
- 32:18Speaker 2: if you were in the AFC, no such thing as
- 32:20Speaker 2: having too many weapons or too much offense.
- 32:22Speaker 1: There's not enough love it.
- 32:23Speaker 2: So I'm gonna go Jordan. I'm gonna go Jordan Adison
- 32:25Speaker 2: to the Chargers here, throw him in their receivers.
- 32:28Speaker 1: Pick I hear that. You could also say you can
- 32:31Speaker 1: never have enough pass rushers in the Mahomes world.
- 32:34Speaker 2: I know, but I know they played on an ice rink.
- 32:35Speaker 2: But even with all the pass rushers last year against
- 32:37Speaker 2: the Chiefs did end up mattering. I mean, I know,
- 32:41Speaker 2: I know.
- 32:48Speaker 1: Gosh Ravens. All right, here's the one from left fields.
- 32:52Speaker 1: Didn't have him in my first round, and yet I
- 32:54Speaker 1: love them and everyone on the scouting community that I
- 32:56Speaker 1: talked to you say, well, it probably wouldn't be our pick,
- 32:58Speaker 1: but you didn't include him in your first round? Why
- 33:00Speaker 1: not going with a manual four in Mississippi state one
- 33:05Speaker 1: hundred and six, see five pounds at the combine you
- 33:09Speaker 1: slided him.
- 33:09Speaker 2: He was one sixty six, one sixty six.
- 33:11Speaker 1: One sixty six, beefed up. I believe that is.
- 33:15Speaker 2: Big.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Yeah. Is there a body type like him?
- 33:20Speaker 2: I was with role with the Ravens and he worked right. Yeah,
- 33:23Speaker 2: he was great. So there's a couple of annual forbes.
- 33:27Speaker 2: He's a freak. He's got unbelievable ball skills. Another one,
- 33:30Speaker 2: Fred Smoot, had a similar body type back in the day.
- 33:33Speaker 1: Really, okay, all right, you're up with the Vikings and
- 33:37Speaker 1: Hendon hooker is on the board.
- 33:38Speaker 2: No Hendon hooker is there? Man else I would potentially
- 33:45Speaker 2: go here?
- 33:49Speaker 1: Mmmm.
- 33:51Speaker 2: I like Hendon Hookers, but I almost I almost liked
- 33:54Speaker 2: the idea of me passing on to see, yeah, see
- 33:57Speaker 2: what you can do, and me look at the rest
- 33:58Speaker 2: of these teams that there's not really a it's not
- 34:01Speaker 2: really the Yeah, there's one possibility still remaining. So I
- 34:06Speaker 2: want to keep handing a hooker on the board for
- 34:07Speaker 2: you because I want to see what else you what
- 34:09Speaker 2: else you have on From an information standpoint, I'm going
- 34:12Speaker 2: to be selfish. I'm going to look at the Minnesota Vikings.
- 34:19Speaker 2: I'm going to give the Minnesota Vikings Deontay Banks a
- 34:22Speaker 2: corner from Maryland.
- 34:24Speaker 1: Yep, good player. I was going to go ahead or
- 34:27Speaker 1: Forbes to the Ravens there.
- 34:30Speaker 2: I almost went Deyontay Banks to the Chargers too. I
- 34:32Speaker 2: could make that case too.
- 34:34Speaker 1: That's about where he'll go. He's here, and the other
- 34:39Speaker 1: guy who's going to go here, who I'm going to
- 34:40Speaker 1: probably take with the Jaguars pick Let me see if
- 34:43Speaker 1: you can.
- 34:45Speaker 2: I'm already get inside your head. I already know what
- 34:47Speaker 2: you're doing here, what you're.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Doing, and that is exactly right. Brian Branch will be
- 34:50Speaker 1: the pick for the Jaguars here. He's the perfect pick
- 34:52Speaker 1: for this selection. Good placement. And you said yesterday on
- 34:55Speaker 1: the mock draft, lot play Nickel, play inside, play outside,
- 34:59Speaker 1: and you know, just get a good football player here,
- 35:01Speaker 1: a leader and maybe the hardest hitter in the entire draft.
- 35:04Speaker 1: I like it, Giants.
- 35:07Speaker 2: I am up with the g men. I'm going to
- 35:10Speaker 2: give them. I think I'm going to give them a weapon.
- 35:17Speaker 2: This is an interesting one. I have this guy as
- 35:19Speaker 2: my thirty first overall player, and teams are split. Some
- 35:24Speaker 2: like him significantly better than that. Other teams are not
- 35:26Speaker 2: a high on him. He's got inconsistent hands. But Quentin
- 35:28Speaker 2: Johnson from TCU has he just got an intriguing skill set.
- 35:32Speaker 2: He's one of the few big receivers in this draft.
- 35:35Speaker 2: He plays faster than he timed. And so give the
- 35:38Speaker 2: Giants so another weapon here.
- 35:40Speaker 1: So I put Jay Flowers in my mock draft, and
- 35:43Speaker 1: Quentin Johnson was on the board, and multiple people are
- 35:45Speaker 1: in the league text to me and said, looking at it,
- 35:47Speaker 1: like your order of your receivers might be off. If
- 35:50Speaker 1: the Giants who took wan Dale Robinson last year were
- 35:53Speaker 1: to take Zay Flowers. That wouldn't make sense. You're looking
- 35:55Speaker 1: to do a basketball team, Quintin Johnson makes more sense
- 35:58Speaker 1: for the Giants, all right? Uh? Cowboys? Cowboys again. Colleen
- 36:04Speaker 1: Wolf mentioned this on Good Morning Football. She was filling in,
- 36:07Speaker 1: like have a really good track record in the first round.
- 36:09Speaker 1: I think you want to, you know, poke at like
- 36:11Speaker 1: the Cowboys for being this dramatic team, Like they picked
- 36:14Speaker 1: solid players, they all end up playing roles that first year.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Who would they take though? Let's see here, who's on
- 36:20Speaker 1: the board. Who do we got? All the tackles are gone.
- 36:24Speaker 2: I got one sticking out on them of considering what
- 36:27Speaker 2: they lost last and free agency at a franchise tight
- 36:32Speaker 2: end that they lost let walk away.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Dalton Schultz is your franchise tight ends.
- 36:36Speaker 2: But they franchised them, so it makes them he was
- 36:39Speaker 2: their franchise place semantics over here, Peter, come on.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Sorry, that's interesting because you've got not only the Georgia
- 36:48Speaker 1: kid Washington, you also have Michael Meyer from Notre Dame,
- 36:51Speaker 1: and then you also have who I think is getting
- 36:53Speaker 1: the Iowa kid, Laporta. He's getting he's getting some buzz.
- 36:57Speaker 1: But I'm going to go running back here you also
- 36:58Speaker 1: want to seek Elliott. I'm going to go Jamior Gibbs.
- 37:01Speaker 1: I'm going to give them the running back out of
- 37:03Speaker 1: Alabama and say firepower. You can use them as a
- 37:06Speaker 1: wide receiver at times in that kind of passing game.
- 37:08Speaker 1: I'm going to say they need just talent on offense here.
- 37:10Speaker 1: I'm going to say Jamir Gibs running back out of
- 37:13Speaker 1: Alabama to the Cowboys. I like it, Bills, the Buffalo Bills.
- 37:22Speaker 2: I mean I like the wide receiver here. Again, going
- 37:28Speaker 2: back to Myama homes doctrine theory, I know Jack Campbell,
- 37:33Speaker 2: linebacker from Iowa. I would not sleep on that here
- 37:36Speaker 2: with what they lost the free agency. So no Tremaine Edmonds.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Is it Jack Campbell to replace him? I'm gonna go
- 37:45Speaker 2: I want to get a new name in the mix here,
- 37:46Speaker 2: so I'm going to give you Matthew. I'm going to
- 37:48Speaker 2: give you Matthew Bergeron. He's a tackle guard from Syracuse
- 37:54Speaker 2: that has a lot of love on the streets for him.
- 37:58Speaker 2: He's a good player. I liked him. I thought he's
- 38:01Speaker 2: the second round guy. But I think because we have
- 38:04Speaker 2: you know, he's next in line. When you look at
- 38:06Speaker 2: the the linemen that are already gone. I think he's
- 38:08Speaker 2: going to go up higher than people think. So let's
- 38:10Speaker 2: let's get him on the board to identify him. All right,
- 38:12Speaker 2: He'll play guard for them.
- 38:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna do this. I love it, and I'm gonna
- 38:15Speaker 1: do the same thing with my next pick. Because I'm
- 38:18Speaker 1: the Cincinnati Bengals. I believe I gave them a tight
- 38:21Speaker 1: end in my mock draw. I'm gonna change it up here.
- 38:25Speaker 1: You've probably been talking about him a lot more than
- 38:27Speaker 1: I have. I didn't have my first round and I
- 38:28Speaker 1: got multiple text saying you didn't include this player. I'm
- 38:31Speaker 1: gonna go Anton Harrison out of Oklahoma offensive tackle. I
- 38:38Speaker 1: know some teams have him in their top five at
- 38:39Speaker 1: the position. Others say not in our top ten in
- 38:42Speaker 1: the position. I think I'm going to go offensive line,
- 38:45Speaker 1: especially if Jonah Williams is asking to be true. I
- 38:48Speaker 1: don't know what's going on with their offensive line. Bengals.
- 38:50Speaker 1: They add another one, Anton Harrison at Oklahoma.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's interesting there are I'm probably in the lower
- 38:56Speaker 2: camp on him, but I know he does have sponsors.
- 38:59Speaker 2: And look, the Bengals just going to Boomer Sooner with
- 39:01Speaker 2: the Orlando Brown and Anton Harrison as the bookends.
- 39:04Speaker 1: There, there you go, all right, the Saint Joe Mixon
- 39:08Speaker 1: in the backfield.
- 39:09Speaker 2: Yeah, exactly, all right, we get to the Saints here, Peter.
- 39:12Speaker 2: I mean, now, at this point in time, I wasn't
- 39:15Speaker 2: even looking at the I wasn't looking at the fact
- 39:17Speaker 2: that this was an odd team and not an even
- 39:19Speaker 2: team because I wanted you to have to make this decision.
- 39:22Speaker 2: But here I am faced with it.
- 39:24Speaker 1: What I'm doing a thing on the show tomorrow. What
- 39:26Speaker 1: Mickey loomis. I mean, they're the kind of team that
- 39:29Speaker 1: they've hit so many guys that they also aren't scared
- 39:31Speaker 1: to take the guy that no one else will. So
- 39:33Speaker 1: what was it Peyton Henderson? What was his name? The
- 39:35Speaker 1: guy Peyton? Peyton Turner and Marcus Davinpored a couple of
- 39:41Speaker 1: years you were trading up for. Like, they're one of
- 39:43Speaker 1: those teams that Mickey takes his guys and he's like,
- 39:45Speaker 1: I'll deal with the criticism. Just I trust what I know,
- 39:48Speaker 1: So go for it. Anything off the board with Mickey.
- 39:51Speaker 2: Yeah, I was gosh, I was looking to go kind
- 39:54Speaker 2: of off the board here, but I think I'm gonna
- 39:56Speaker 2: I'm gonna go conservative. Let me just look at one
- 40:02Speaker 2: more thing here to make sure that I'm not missing it.
- 40:06Speaker 2: I'm is going to take Mayor here. I'm just going
- 40:08Speaker 2: to take a tight end. I sold security blanket. Yeah,
- 40:14Speaker 2: Notre Dame, well, Notre Dame tight end. Just a good
- 40:17Speaker 2: all round player. I think he's one in a draft
- 40:20Speaker 2: where there's a lot of guys who don't fit the
- 40:24Speaker 2: specs undersize, there's there's all these question marks, like he
- 40:28Speaker 2: might not ever be an a lead elite player, but
- 40:29Speaker 2: he's going to be a good player. I feel like
- 40:31Speaker 2: he's one of the few known quantities in this draft.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you know how you loved and I always
- 40:37Speaker 1: think of when it comes to tight ends. You loved
- 40:39Speaker 1: Howkinson that you were right. He was great this year
- 40:44Speaker 1: for the Vikings. You know, Eagles, pass rushing offensive line,
- 40:50Speaker 1: pass rushing offensive line. I already went off the board
- 40:53Speaker 1: with a running back and Jon Robinson. That's not what
- 40:58Speaker 1: a j do. Will McDonald the fourth, We'll go out
- 41:00Speaker 1: of Iowa State, send him to Philly and uh turn
- 41:04Speaker 1: them loose, let him fly. You know, people like him
- 41:08Speaker 1: in the league. I guess he's a first round pick.
- 41:09Speaker 1: It's not his early second. So got a Matt Campbell,
- 41:14Speaker 1: Nick Sirianni connection there. Those guys are tight. So we'll
- 41:17Speaker 1: go there last pick on the draft, and there are
- 41:19Speaker 1: a lot of guys left.
- 41:20Speaker 2: No, I think I have no choice here. I'm going
- 41:23Speaker 2: to take Miles Murphy.
- 41:24Speaker 1: Miles mary had a Clemson.
- 41:26Speaker 2: Yeah, he's my twenty second player. He's you know, he
- 41:29Speaker 2: kind of fits that big, sturdy, rugged edge rusher. You
- 41:32Speaker 2: think about Frank Clark, the type of guys they like
- 41:34Speaker 2: to play with Carl Loftis. Those guys are big, physical guys,
- 41:38Speaker 2: and I think Murphy would fit that. So Frank Clark
- 41:41Speaker 2: is gone, and now you just throw him in there
- 41:44Speaker 2: with Carl Loftis and off you go.
- 41:45Speaker 1: All right, So DJ at the end, there we went
- 41:48Speaker 1: gibbs bergeron Harrison Meyer, McDonald, Murphy. I'll recap the entire
- 41:53Speaker 1: first round, but let me just give you some names.
- 41:55Speaker 1: Let's go to your top fifty. Some guys that names
- 41:58Speaker 1: did not come up. Your twenty second ranked player is
- 42:00Speaker 1: Zay Flowers. We did not select him in the first
- 42:02Speaker 1: round of this draft. Elijah Cansey was not selected in
- 42:10Speaker 1: this draft. Banks was twenty five. Darnell Washington was not
- 42:15Speaker 1: selected in this draft. Canty. You mentioned Keon White at
- 42:18Speaker 1: a Georgia Tech not drafted in this draft, and uh,
- 42:22Speaker 1: Brian Branch was, and then Felix and then Duke.
- 42:26Speaker 2: It was that was gonna be my pick, and that
- 42:28Speaker 2: in my last in my final mock draft. What I
- 42:30Speaker 2: got to do next week? He might be my pick
- 42:32Speaker 2: for Casey. So yeah, I like Casey taking it, taking
- 42:35Speaker 2: one of these rugged edgereshers and somehow but in the
- 42:38Speaker 2: way we did this time, you had Murphy there, so
- 42:40Speaker 2: I was taking.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm looking around, I'm looking at any of there
- 42:44Speaker 1: are any huge names that didn't get drafted, no other
- 42:46Speaker 1: than that the Hendon Hooker. So Hooker doesn't get drafted
- 42:49Speaker 1: if we do it this way, would that shock you
- 42:52Speaker 1: if you fell out of the first round.
- 42:54Speaker 2: No, I mean if you told me that Hendon Hooker
- 42:56Speaker 2: was the eleventh pick, or Hendon Hooker went in the
- 42:58Speaker 2: third round, that sounds crazy to say that, but I wouldn't.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I wouldn't be shocked. It's a weird draft. It's a
- 43:04Speaker 2: weird situation with him age, injury, offense, Like, there's some
- 43:08Speaker 2: questions there. I love the skill set, I love everything
- 43:11Speaker 2: I've heard about him, and I can make a case
- 43:14Speaker 2: to take him there. But I can also make a
- 43:15Speaker 2: case of people saying there's just, you know, too many questions.
- 43:19Speaker 2: We'll wait.
- 43:20Speaker 1: I believe there were thirteen trades on Day one last year.
- 43:24Speaker 1: Does that sound like it's too much? I think that's
- 43:25Speaker 1: the stat I got thirteen, So all of this could
- 43:29Speaker 1: be moot. But DJ, do you want do you have
- 43:32Speaker 1: two seconds for me to just go through the entire
- 43:33Speaker 1: draft real quick? Go for it, Aaron, I'm going to
- 43:38Speaker 1: just rattle them off, all right. Panthers one Bryce Young,
- 43:42Speaker 1: two Texans Tyree Wilson, three Cardinals, Will Anderson, four Colts.
- 43:48Speaker 1: Take Will Levis over CJ. Stroud, five Seahawks c J.
- 43:53Speaker 1: Stroud to the Seattle Seahawks. No one has that anywhere.
- 43:56Speaker 1: That's why I do this. Six Lions, Jalen Carter, seven
- 44:01Speaker 1: Raiders Devin Witherspoon, eight Falcons Peter Scornski, nine Bears Christian Gonzales,
- 44:08Speaker 1: ten Eagles Byjon Robinson, eleven Titans Jackson Smith, Najibba, I
- 44:14Speaker 1: always get it wrong? What is it? Nijigba?
- 44:16Speaker 2: Did I in jig in jigba? You're quote myself?
- 44:19Speaker 1: I feel like I'm Jis constant Texans twelve. No one
- 44:24Speaker 1: has them taking a quarterback with that to I mean
- 44:26Speaker 1: Anthony Richardson, He's sitting there. I don't know if that's
- 44:28Speaker 1: why you draft him one, but gosh, what do we
- 44:31Speaker 1: do with Richardson? What do you if he I.
- 44:34Speaker 2: Don't know where to put him. I don't. I don't
- 44:35Speaker 2: like I haven't talked to somebody that says, you know
- 44:38Speaker 2: what this team is a Richard like. I've talked to
- 44:40Speaker 2: zillion people that say the cults are eleves. Now, I
- 44:43Speaker 2: haven't talked to any I just don't know where to
- 44:44Speaker 2: put him. Gosh.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Thirteen Jets, Broderick Jones, fourteen Patriots Paris Johnson, fifteen Packers
- 44:52Speaker 1: Nolan Smith, another Georgia defender. You're right, they took two
- 44:55Speaker 1: in the first round last year. Sixteen Commanders, Dalton Kincaid
- 44:59Speaker 1: at a Utah tight end, seventeen Steelers Darnell Right, offensive
- 45:02Speaker 1: tackle at a Tennessee Lions. Joey Porter junior out of
- 45:05Speaker 1: Penn State Buccaneers, Lucas van Ness out of Iowa Seahawks.
- 45:10Speaker 1: I don't know what the hell I was doing here, Oh,
- 45:12Speaker 1: Cyrus Torrence twentieth overall sull Could it be? I don't know, right,
- 45:17Speaker 1: big guy who knows twenty one Chargers, Jordan Addison wide
- 45:22Speaker 1: receiver to USC Ravens twenty two, Emmanuel Forbes Vikings they
- 45:27Speaker 1: go corner as well, Deontay Banks Jaguars go corner as well.
- 45:30Speaker 1: Brian Branch Giants, Quintin Johnson wide receiver, TCU, Cowboys, Jamior
- 45:36Speaker 1: Gibbs running back at Alabama, Bill's Matthew bergeron offensive lineman
- 45:41Speaker 1: out of Syracuse, Bengals, Anton Harrison, offensive lineman at Oklahoma,
- 45:46Speaker 1: Saint Michael Mayer out of Notre Dame Eagles, Will McDonald
- 45:51Speaker 1: the fourth out of Iowa State, and then Miles Murphy
- 45:54Speaker 1: out of Clemson finishes out the first round going to
- 45:56Speaker 1: the Chiefs. That's a first round, folks. That is a
- 45:59Speaker 1: first round.
- 46:00Speaker 2: Thirty one for thirty one, I nailed it.
- 46:02Speaker 1: That was fun.
- 46:03Speaker 2: It's good stuff, man, It's a good exercise. And again
- 46:06Speaker 2: I always tell people, one of my pet peeves through
- 46:08Speaker 2: this process is not specifically mock draft related, but is
- 46:11Speaker 2: when when people can throw out this guy's a top
- 46:16Speaker 2: he's a first round pick. This guy is a top
- 46:18Speaker 2: fifty pick all day long, and it's like, well, if
- 46:20Speaker 2: I add up all the guys that you've said our
- 46:22Speaker 2: first round picks, Like, there's not forty five of these
- 46:25Speaker 2: guys going in the first round. So we got to
- 46:27Speaker 2: stop saying all these guys are first round picks. When
- 46:29Speaker 2: you do an exercise like this, you realize there's some
- 46:32Speaker 2: really good players that aren't going to get picked in
- 46:34Speaker 2: the first round in the NFL.
- 46:35Speaker 1: I don't know, is it still Gil Brandt who does it?
- 46:38Speaker 1: Like the NFL invites these guys and everyone assumes that,
- 46:41Speaker 1: like the rig is in if they got invited to
- 46:44Speaker 1: the draft and they're attending, they're going in the first round.
- 46:46Speaker 1: That's not the case. How many drafts do you have
- 46:48Speaker 1: to be at where you realize there's usually five to
- 46:50Speaker 1: six guys in that green room the next day who
- 46:52Speaker 1: were not selected day one.
- 46:54Speaker 2: Yeah. No, I always say there's probably four guys that
- 46:57Speaker 2: get invited every year that if you be honest, they
- 46:59Speaker 2: pack too soon.
- 47:01Speaker 1: All right, Danel Jeremiah so excited for your work next week.
- 47:05Speaker 1: You're going to be doing a lot of stuff obviously
- 47:06Speaker 1: throughout the week, but most importantly Thursday night, Draft Night.
- 47:10Speaker 1: I am an unabashed fan of our coverage of the
- 47:12Speaker 1: NFL network. I know I'm very biased, but I know
- 47:15Speaker 1: we're doing crossover stuff with ESPN, I beg of every
- 47:18Speaker 1: listener put on NFL Network Night one, Night two, and
- 47:21Speaker 1: then when you and I joined forces the special Day three,

- 47:51Speaker 2: romantic dinner at the belagio next to the window with

- 47:54Speaker 1: We got a reservation at a hotel last here at

- 48:02Speaker 1: a restaurant that I want to say, was in the

- 48:11Speaker 1: photograph and you guys will put it in one of
- 48:14Speaker 1: these sleeves and you can have the photograph and all
- 48:16Speaker 1: this stuff, and I go, yeah, do it, do it.
- 48:17Speaker 1: And then the guy charged me fifty eight dollars for
- 48:19Speaker 1: said photograph. We split it, We split it, we split it.
- 48:23Speaker 1: And guess what's in my dressing room right now? At
- 48:24Speaker 1: Good Morning Football? There's literally like an NFL almanac. There
- 48:29Speaker 1: is a bag of high chew candy, and then there
- 48:32Speaker 1: is that picture. I don't have any pictures of my family.
- 48:35Speaker 1: I have that picture of you and I at the
- 48:36Speaker 1: ballagio overlooking the fountains. And guess what.

- 48:45Speaker 1: I started in Nashville, and you and I both agree.
- 48:47Speaker 1: And it's almost like are the feeling of when the
- 48:50Speaker 1: draft is done. It feels like there's a seven thousand
- 48:53Speaker 1: pound gorilla that is just off your shoulders, and you
- 48:55Speaker 1: and I treat ourselves to a steak, a piece of fish,
- 48:57Speaker 1: whatever it is. We enjoy each other's company.
- 48:59Speaker 2: That Saturday night, Yeah, that's on again. It's one of

- 49:06Speaker 2: going to have a blast, and I think this exercise

- 49:10Speaker 2: going to happen in this thing. Buckle up and enjoy
- 49:13Speaker 2: the ride.
- 49:13Speaker 1: I'm just hoping for a lot of trade. So my
