Transcript
- 0:00I'm Christina, and I'm t, and this is the Pretty and Pink Again podcast where Motherhood Meets Rediscovery.
- 0:17Hello.
- 0:18Hi.
- 0:18Happy New Year.
- 0:19Happy New Year.
- 0:20Our last podcast recording, but our first one that's airing in 2026.
- 0:26Whoa.
- 0:26Wow, this is crazy.
- 0:292026 is here.
- 0:31It's gonna be a big year.
- 0:32Especially for all you 86 babies.
- 0:34Guys we're turning 40 this year.
- 0:36If you're an 86 baby with me and t.
- 0:39Our forties are here.
- 0:40We're ready.
- 0:41We're ready.
- 0:41I really am ready for it.
- 0:42I'm excited for this year.
- 0:43I feel really good and I feel like that's the vibe.
- 0:46I feel like everybody's just like really excited and we're ready to move on to 2026.
- 0:51So we thought what we would do is do a sort of 2025 reflections and a little bit of a hope.
- 0:57What we hope for in 2026.
- 0:59And to take us down memory lane of the last year.
- 1:01This is obviously the year we started the podcast.
- 1:04Which is crazy.
- 1:04We're approaching like our one year.
- 1:06Yeah.
- 1:06But closing out this year.
- 1:09I know.
- 1:09So on New Year's Eve, we've been doing this for about 10 years, Nick and I, and usually Gina's here with us, so she does it too.
- 1:16And the kids, we write on a piece of paper what we want for the next year.
- 1:21And then the next year, on New Year's Day, we open the box and we see what's inside.
- 1:27It's funny because I, you sometimes you forget.
- 1:29Yes.
- 1:29Because it's not a vision board that you keep in front of you.
- 1:31Right.
- 1:32Or like intentions like that you like see all the time.
- 1:35That remind you.
- 1:35It's like just what's on your mind and what for the next year.
- 1:38So we'll be doing that, but mine has always been the same every year.
- 1:41What is it?
- 1:42Can you share?
- 1:42Mine is, has been for the past 10 years, like health, like my mental health.
- 1:46Yeah.
- 1:46I wanna get my mental health.
- 1:48In order.
- 1:50I'm not putting that on my card this year.
- 1:52Wow.
- 1:53I find, I feel like you, you feel like you're there.
- 1:54I feel like I am finally at a good, a much more stable place.
- 1:59I love that so much and I love that for you and I know I like it for me too.
- 2:04So the other day Nick said to me, he was, I'm really proud of you this year in particular.
- 2:09You really changed.
- 2:11He goes, you gave me a lot of hope.
- 2:13And him saying that to me was.
- 2:15So meaningful because I don't get like a pat on the back from him.
- 2:20Mm-hmm.
- 2:20Mm-hmm.
- 2:21I usually get from him when are you gonna get over this?
- 2:24Because he can't see through that.
- 2:26And when he said that to me, I was like, wow.
- 2:29Maybe I was able to make a change.
- 2:32Make a change.
- 2:32I'm sorry it took 10 years.
- 2:34I know.
- 2:34I feel the same too.
- 2:35Yeah.
- 2:35Like I really feel like I've done a tremendous amount of growth this year.
- 2:39I'm really excited for the next year.
- 2:42But I feel that way too.
- 2:43There's good days and bad days.
- 2:44We always say just because you have a couple of moments or bad, you can go through seasons of hard times.
- 2:51Yeah.
- 2:51And feel like tricklings of things reverting back, but it.
- 2:54I feel like my mindset is different this year.
- 2:57Where I feel like even if things sneak in, it feels like I can control it a little bit more.
- 3:031000%.
- 3:04Yep.
- 3:04And things trickling in is normal.
- 3:06But you don't get taken back to that right place.
- 3:09You're not going backwards.
- 3:10I love that so much.
- 3:11I know I do too.
- 3:13I wanted to, that's really exciting.
- 3:14I wanted to share that.
- 3:15What do you think surprised you the most about yourself this year?
- 3:20I had a consistent year where I made space to feel well.
- 3:24And I didn't.
- 3:26Really realize it until about a few weeks ago.
- 3:28'cause over the holiday season I was feeling very stressed and I started to feel anxious again.
- 3:32Yeah.
- 3:32And started to retreat back into my house and I was able to use the words and tell myself, oh, this is about of anxiety.
- 3:41For whatever reason you're gonna get through it and then it, and then it went away.
- 3:43Wow.
- 3:44And it went away.
- 3:44Like you were talking yourself down pretty quickly.
- 3:46Wow.
- 3:46And I didn't have to do a whole lot of it.
- 3:49So what surprised myself most this year was that I can have ebbs and flows of anxiety and they're not gonna take me down.
- 3:57And take the house down.
- 3:58For.
- 3:58Months.
- 3:59Yep.
- 3:59And I'm not gonna have to be at like a hermit and hide in this house.
- 4:02I would piggyback off that for sure.
- 4:03I feel the same way.
- 4:05I feel like I've had moments, especially as we closed out closer to the end of the year, the last six months.
- 4:11Yeah.
- 4:11I feel like I really took my health into my own hands.
- 4:14Mind, body, soul type of way.
- 4:17And I feel the same way.
- 4:18Like I definitely still struggle with things.
- 4:21I have bad days.
- 4:22I'll have a bad couple of days where I feel twinges of my old self that I'm working to move past, come back in and sneak back in.
- 4:32But I feel like I now have.
- 4:34A very large toolkit of things that I can reach to, to make myself feel whole again.
- 4:40And I do notice that it, that all of it's working.
- 4:44Like all of the things that I'm doing, I just have to know.
- 4:47What to pull at, like what needs what, yeah.
- 4:50So it sounds like for both of us, what surprised us this year was that's achievable.
- 4:54Yeah, for sure.
- 4:55Because I don't think either one of us thought it was.
- 4:57No I agree.
- 4:58When did you feel the most like yourself, like returning?
- 5:02Was there a moment this year or do you feel like it just was a slow, so over the summer.
- 5:08I started to feel it.
- 5:09You did.
- 5:09I remember you said that.
- 5:09I was saying in the summer was like my fun era.
- 5:12My adventure era.
- 5:13Mm-hmm.
- 5:13Because I would typically decline most invitations because they were just too much for me.
- 5:19And now I realize that I can do too much and then I can retreat and reset and it won't take me out for.
- 5:26Several weeks.
- 5:27And I remember you saying that you had the most fun with your kids this summer too.
- 5:32Like they were a part of that.
- 5:33Yeah.
- 5:33Fun era.
- 5:34They were a part of it.
- 5:35Yeah.
- 5:35If you ask them though they'll tell you something different.
- 5:37Of course.
- 5:37They'll tell you that I was on 17 vacations this summer and I was never with them, it's, we all have our own story in our head.
- 5:44How about you?
- 5:45I feel like mine wasn't a light bulb moment of anything.
- 5:50I just feel like the last few months.
- 5:53I have felt more like my old self, and I'm saying that almost like pre-kids, like my pre-kids self, but this newer version of her.
- 6:02Yeah.
- 6:02So it's a blend of the two.
- 6:04I feel like it's just been slowly, which is what you are.
- 6:06You are a blend of the two.
- 6:07It's a blend of the two.
- 6:08And I feel like I, maybe I could feel the blend of the two happening.
- 6:11There's some.
- 6:13Kind of reminders of who I used to be, but blended with this new, stronger version of myself.
- 6:19I don't think that there was like one moment where I was like, oh, I'm back.
- 6:22Or oh, here she is.
- 6:23It was just, I could feel slowly that things were clicking into place a little bit more than I have the last couple of years.
- 6:31Yeah.
- 6:31I we're gonna get into a little bit more of like personal things a little bit later in the episode, but we wanted to just recap the last year of the podcast because we really have.
- 6:41Stayed consistent.
- 6:42We started the podcast in February.
- 6:44Yeah, I think we took one week off, maybe two this entire year.
- 6:48And so we're at like 40 something episodes, so the content is there.
- 6:52We've had so much content, so many conversations, so many amazing guests that we've been able to get in the seat or.
- 6:59Via Zoom.
- 7:00And so we've just had some really great conversations.
- 7:03It's crazy to think about, we said Pippa being at this one year mark at, around the same time as the new year, so I feel like we have a lot of thoughts and feelings about that.
- 7:13But what.
- 7:15What did you think the podcast would be at the beginning of the year versus what it ended up being?
- 7:20So I thought that the podcast was gonna be you and I just talking at each other.
- 7:27And just.
- 7:28Talking about just like our day in life.
- 7:31Like shooting the shit.
- 7:31Kind of shooting the shit.
- 7:32Yeah.
- 7:32Which are like what?
- 7:33What?
- 7:33We're watching what we're doing, but things have become so much more deeper and there's themes in everything that we're saying, and.
- 7:42There's themes in what other women are saying and what our, what guests and professionals are saying and how they feel is very similar to what a layperson thinks and feels.
- 7:52Yes.
- 7:53And there's been so many commonalities, which has been so not only validating, but useful and helpful to propel you forward.
- 8:02The podcast for me has been like reclaiming things, letting go of things, and also keeping things the same that I enjoy and and feel good.
- 8:13Yeah.
- 8:13I love that.
- 8:14So what about for you?
- 8:15I feel similar.
- 8:16I knew I needed an outlet to talk and communication is not one of like my strongest points and letting my guard down and letting the walls down is not something that comes like supernatural to me.
- 8:28So although I had this vision for it, I thought that I would be like a lot more guarded.
- 8:34I thought it would take me a lot more to strip me down and.
- 8:38Tell my story and feel comfortable saying the things that were going on in my head out loud and I feel like within a few episodes I re if I think back, I was like tongue tied a ton at the beginning.
- 8:50Like I, I didn't even know how to express the things I was trying to say.
- 8:54I knew them.
- 8:54You kept saying, I want this to come out Right.
- 8:56I want this to come out.
- 8:57Right, right.
- 8:57So the perfection is part of you was still was still running.
- 9:00Michelle ruminating in there.
- 9:01Then once you started talking.
- 9:03Honestly.
- 9:04And realized that being honest is the best way to communicate.
- 9:07Yep.
- 9:07And get your story out there.
- 9:09Yep.
- 9:09And it's not offensive.
- 9:10It's your story.
- 9:11It's personal, it's honest.
- 9:13It's not a bad story.
- 9:15It's not a good story.
- 9:16It's just the honest truth and I felt like that.
- 9:21It took just a few episodes of that and then I really feel like this has helped me do that throughout my life.
- 9:29Like it has helped me communicate better.
- 9:32Yeah.
- 9:32I don't, I wouldn't say I'm the best communicator, but I feel like it's allowed me to not only process my own thoughts, but actually be able to put them into words.
- 9:40I think that there was almost like a short circuit that had sort of happened throughout motherhood where I could not convey my thoughts.
- 9:48To someone else out loud.
- 9:50Because I was worried about maybe how they would be taken, maybe, the fear of even saying those things out loud.
- 9:56Yeah.
- 9:56So I didn't expect this to end up being like therapy for me.
- 10:01You know what I mean?
- 10:01And it really has, it's changed me from, I think from within, in addition to.
- 10:08I just didn't expect us to stay as consistent.
- 10:11I think it was something that we thought of on a whim we did it, but to actually week after week show up and actually have these conversations and plan for them and have these guests that could come on I didn't expect all of this to just unfold the way it did.
- 10:27I know the guest.
- 10:29Were, I think one of my favorite parts because when we were asking people to come on, people in our community.
- 10:36I was first of all shocked that people were saying yes.
- 10:39Yes, me too.
- 10:40And not only that, like they were taking time away from their businesses, their own jobs to come on, and everybody kept saying, I love what you're doing for women.
- 10:48I love what you're doing for the community.
- 10:50I love what you're offering.
- 10:51I love what you're putting out.
- 10:53Yeah.
- 10:53So if somebody says.
- 10:54I love what you're putting out.
- 10:55I'd like to be a part of that.
- 10:57That's really meaningful.
- 10:58It was, I was almost expecting the nose of I'll pass.
- 11:01Which, which is fine too.
- 11:02And we, I just feel like we just didn't have a ton of that, which just shocked me.
- 11:07And then I think also what.
- 11:10Not surprise me, but I think just validated me in a way was this community of other Pippa's that we are building.
- 11:17I didn't really expect to, first of all, name a community and we really did, and people have really showed up and stayed.
- 11:25We've had consistent.
- 11:28Loyal listeners who we interact with all the time, and we appreciate you so much.
- 11:34I feel like we have this like band of women that like share the podcast with other people, write into us, share their stories with us, give us episode ideas, and it's, it just has felt like such a beautiful community of people who all feel.
- 11:52Maybe they're not going through the exact same things that we are, but it's a supportive community.
- 11:57So even if they're not going through the exact same thing that maybe one of us is going through, or a guest we have on, it just seems a very supportive group of women who are open to hearing other people's stories.
- 12:10It's not, oh, that didn't happen for me, so I can't relate to that.
- 12:14We don't have any of that.
- 12:15I feel like people have just been very open and understanding.
- 12:19Yeah.
- 12:19If somebody has shared something that maybe one of us has gone through and they didn't, they're open to hearing.
- 12:26Another version of an experience.
- 12:28I think that's what a Pippa is, right?
- 12:30At their core.
- 12:31Yeah.
- 12:31I think Pippa's are curious.
- 12:33I think Pippa's want to share their stories.
- 12:36Or wanna be listened to, because I do think that there's commonalities in everything.
- 12:41Mm-hmm.
- 12:41I don't think that motherhood and being a woman is that linear, that if it doesn't happen the exact same way to two people.
- 12:48That you can't.
- 12:49Right.
- 12:50Relate on a matter, but I think sometimes when you put yourself out there, you worry about how it's going to be taken.
- 12:56And I think motherhood sometimes, from what I've found online, in, in just being in the online space and being a consumer of content, things can be very polarizing.
- 13:07And so I was almost expecting this level of, I don't wanna say cattiness or it's just, but like when people don't agree with an experience, they tell you that they don't agree with the experience, they fight you on the.
- 13:21Experience and that I have not felt that, I have felt very embraced.
- 13:26I opened up about infertility.
- 13:27We opened up about postpartum anxiety and depression.
- 13:30Not everybody experiences those things.
- 13:32We opened up about a plethora of other things.
- 13:34Not everybody experiences all of those things, but we were shown a lot of grace and support by a community that I didn't really expect to build the way that it has, yeah.
- 13:44You were pleasantly surprised.
- 13:46Yes.
- 13:46From your.
- 13:47Experience as a public person?
- 13:49Yes, I think it's a different type.
- 13:52It's a different platform.
- 13:53It's a different platform, it has just exceeded my expectations in every single way.
- 13:58So I've, I truly, from the bottom of my heart, I'm sure t feels the same way.
- 14:03Thank you guys for showing up and listening to us and engaging with our content and writing into us, even if they're just personal messages on each of our pages.
- 14:12We've appreciated it so much, and to our guests who have come on too, like you said, who have taken the time.
- 14:20And shared their stories.
- 14:22It really has just, all of it has exceeded my expectations.
- 14:25Yeah.
- 14:25What about did you have any episodes that were standouts for you?
- 14:31So one of my favorite episodes, and I think it's one of our listeners' favorite episodes'cause it has the highest downloads, was the Christine Lang podcast.
- 14:39Chris is one of my best friends.
- 14:40Yep.
- 14:40She's terrific.
- 14:41She's brilliant.
- 14:42Brilliant.
- 14:42She is brilliant.
- 14:43And I was saying on one of our other episodes, I have a really hard time with experts because experts can tell you.
- 14:52Technically how to to do things, how to do right.
- 14:54But there is a disconnect with execution.
- 14:57And Christine practices what she preaches.
- 15:00Right.
- 15:00I see it at home.
- 15:02And she practices like how messy life can be with four kids and having jobs and her episode, I thought.
- 15:10Resonated so well with our listeners.
- 15:12Mm-hmm.
- 15:12Because our listeners, a Pippa has a very high bullshit meter for sure.
- 15:17And they know when we're like just reading off chat GPT, like theoretically this is what you can do.
- 15:23Or when there is real information that you can execute and put into practice.
- 15:28Right.
- 15:29And her episode, I thought.
- 15:31Was the prime example of that.
- 15:33So that's something we'll definitely talk about today in terms of preparing things in advance.
- 15:38But a lot of times I go minute to minute and when I'm ready for the next thing, I don't realize that I didn't let other people know my plan.
- 15:46And what we need to do next.
- 15:48So you're going to talk about that preparation piece.
- 15:51So Christina and I were talking two weeks ago, about control and how we feel like there's a fine line between controlling everybody around us, but you reframe it as preparation.
- 16:04We have three pillars that we're going to discuss with you today.
- 16:07Preparation being a big one.
- 16:09Communication and regulation.
- 16:12What does this look like?
- 16:13Sure.
- 16:14as you just mentioned, we all have these moments and we feel inside okay, what's happening right now?
- 16:21What do I need to get done?
- 16:22And you just mentioned, where did it start from?
- 16:24So I would notice every time I got into the car with all of my kids to go somewhere is when I would start feeling this like twisting feeling in my stomach.
- 16:32And I felt like I really wanted to snap, even if someone started breathing too close to my presence.
- 16:38And I was noticing that this was like such a huge antecedent for this, feeling dysregulated as a mom.
- 16:47And I was like, okay, I'm cramming too much into this time, and I was on the treadmill.
- 16:52Let's say we needed to leave at 9 30 to get to hockey for 10 30.
- 16:55I'd be on the treadmill until 9 26 thinking, okay, I have four minutes.
- 16:59I'll get my stuff.
- 17:00We'll get in the car.
- 17:01Before I went on the treadmill, I said, Hey guys, we have to leave in a little bit, make sure you're dressed.
- 17:06And I'd come off the treadmill and everyone's still in their pajamas.
- 17:09And I was like, wait, how did this happen?
- 17:11We only have four minutes.
- 17:13And so now I am worried that we're going to be late.
- 17:16And when you as a mom get dysregulated, You couldn't possibly help your kids in terms of staying calm.
- 17:23So now they're going to an activity and it goes from a fun day to now you're like, hurry up.
- 17:28We're going to be late.
- 17:28What are you doing?
- 17:29Why aren't you ready?
- 17:30Then I'm like, where's your stick?
- 17:31Where's your water bottle?
- 17:32Where's this?
- 17:33And so I realized if I want to do those things for myself, like you talked about last week in terms of self care, And I feel like that treadmill time was really significant for me.
- 17:44Then I needed to take a few steps back and say, okay what is it that we need to get done to be able to transition successfully so that time of going from the house to the car isn't so chaotic and stressful.
- 17:57So the treadmill was supposed to be your way to regulate yourself.
- 18:00That's why you're doing Your movement, but what it ended up doing when you planned it too close, it dysregulated everything correct.
- 18:08And then again, when our kids, you mentioned this a few episodes ago, they have their antennas up, they can read you so well.
- 18:16And so when your body language, your tone, just your overall presence is putting off stress and anxiety then that obviously can rub off on everyone else's behavior and I work on this in my practice, too It's funny because people are asking me for advice or I have friends saying I was channeling you last night And I'm like, Jesus, I'm always so effed up, but yet people are asking me for things.
- 18:39That was episode six.
- 18:40She was actually our first guest.
- 18:43And again, we're so appreciative that somebody, it was our first interview.
- 18:46It was our first interview.
- 18:47I had never interviewed anybody before.
- 18:49Right.
- 18:49There was so much unknown with that.
- 18:51One of our top episodes.
- 18:52It was our top guest episode.
- 18:54And if you haven't listened to that, we're gonna make sure that we link all of these episodes that we're chatting about in the show notes.
- 19:00But I agree.
- 19:01I thought she provided so much value Yeah.
- 19:04In that, and again, to know her and to say, yes, this is how she is.
- 19:10I felt you really were talking to somebody that you can take away information from and put into play.
- 19:16I reference a lot of what she says.
- 19:17Yes.
- 19:18Like I have these like little bites, these sound bites in my head of like little things that she has said that almost it's like a friend said them to you and it sticks with you and I hear her voice in my head.
- 19:29That was such a powerful episode.
- 19:30I agree with you.
- 19:31Do you have a favorite episode?
- 19:32Mine would be the episode that we did with Dr.
- 19:36Kate, which was the fertility and hormone discussion.
- 19:40I thought that information was just so enlightening.
- 19:44I thought that there was so much.
- 19:46Of a takeaway.
- 19:47I thought it was gonna be a conversation about fertility.
- 19:50And then it spun into this conversation about just your hormone health with women and.
- 19:57Postpartum.
- 19:58And for me, that was such a powerful episode because I took so much away from that.
- 20:03And then I actually ended up doing something about it because I felt so connected to that episode and that the things that she was talking about.
- 20:12And I ended up going to do a full hormone panel and.
- 20:17A full blood test and basically like a full anything test of what's going on in my body.
- 20:21I like to think of it more of like.
- 20:25this is an opportunity that now I can go dig deeper and now I can fix this and I'll feel better.
- 20:31I will thrive more because of this.
- 20:33I deserve to feel better.
- 20:34And that's how I feel when I'm working with my clients.
- 20:37I want to help them so badly to get pregnant and to have that baby, but I also want them to go on and be able to mm-hmm.
- 20:45thrive and feel really good and I found so much information and started working with Dr.
- 20:49Kate on those things.
- 20:50And she's a huge reason why I feel the way I feel this year because in the fall I started to work on a kind of protocol supplement routine with her guidance.
- 21:03And so I just, I feel like she's like a saving grace in my life right now.
- 21:07And I feel.
- 21:09Like indebted that we had that episode.
- 21:12And again, I thought it was gonna be about one thing and it turned into something else, and the takeaways were something else.
- 21:18You know?
- 21:18I mean, All of our episodes we always think are gonna be one thing, but.
- 21:22Concepts are just not that compartmentalized.
- 21:25There is like deeper roots and deeper meanings.
- 21:28To everything.
- 21:29Like we come up with these conversations and these topics, but they're like at the surface.
- 21:34Yeah.
- 21:34And then in order to.
- 21:35Uncover that you have to dig deeper.
- 21:38And when we were having these conversations with her about infertility, she was saying that this is all connected.
- 21:44This all goes way, way back.
- 21:46Yes.
- 21:46Way before you even try to get pregnant.
- 21:48What are you eating?
- 21:49Where do you live?
- 21:50What's in your soil?
- 21:51What are your hormones like, right?
- 21:52How are you stressed?
- 21:53Are you this, like everything works together?
- 21:55And I just thought that was interesting.
- 21:57Yeah, it was very holistic.
- 21:58I really left there with kind of a fire inside of me of I'm gonna take myself up on this.
- 22:05And I did it.
- 22:06And so we, and now you've been at it for, what, three months?
- 22:09It's been about three months.
- 22:09And and I feel, things are starting to work.
- 22:13It's not an overnight fix, but I just felt like that was such an impactful episode for me personally.
- 22:18I have another one that I wanna call out.
- 22:21Tell me.
- 22:21Tell me.
- 22:21So we interviewed Courtney Cecil.
- 22:23Oh, I loved that one.
- 22:24She was earlier on too, and she asked us about our values.
- 22:28Yep.
- 22:29She was like a mic drop.
- 22:31And I was almost embarrassed because I didn't even remember what that word had meant.
- 22:35Once I started getting clear on what my values were and what a value is and what my values are, and then what our family values are, it made communicating.
- 22:45So much easier.
- 22:46It makes a lot of decisions easier.
- 22:48It makes made so many decisions easier.
- 22:50It made our family decisions easier.
- 22:52It made just my communication with my husband so much easier and just, I don't know, life just started to flow a little bit easier for me once I, what decided what are my values?
- 23:03What are they even, I agree.
- 23:05What am I even doing all this for?
- 23:06I agree.
- 23:07I just thought that conversation was a real to your point, mic drop moment.
- 23:11Yeah.
- 23:11And that ended up, that was a conversation again, we thought was going to be about one thing, and it turned into this extremely deep conversation.
- 23:18So I loved that one too.
- 23:20I also loved last week's episode when I was listening back to it.
- 23:24It was a long one that was with Kelly Babiak and that was a long one that, but that one that had so much meat to it.
- 23:32Yeah, that I ended up having to re-listen to it.
- 23:34And I appreciated that conversation and the direction it went in.
- 23:39It validated a lot of what I was feeling there was a lot of different layers to that episode.
- 23:43There was, it started off with an interview because she coaches women to get back to the workforce.
- 23:48Right?
- 23:48Whether they had to take time away because they were stay-at-home moms or now they have, and they wanna go back because now their children are raised or maybe they have some financial burdens, or I shouldn't even call them a burden, just.
- 24:00Financial.
- 24:00Yeah.
- 24:00Financial.
- 24:01Financial obligations.
- 24:02Financial.
- 24:02Financial obligations.
- 24:02Yeah.
- 24:03She also helps veterans reenter the workforce.
- 24:05So she's really a coach of women reentering the workforce.
- 24:07And I, but before you can even get to that point of reentry, you have to do all these other things.
- 24:12And I loved that conversation.
- 24:14I just thought that it was so validating.
- 24:17I feel like we're in a different time period now than we have been Yeah.
- 24:21The last few years.
- 24:22And so if you're somebody that.
- 24:25Has to return to work for any reason, like T said.
- 24:28Or if you're somebody who feels stuck in your job.
- 24:31If you are already, yes.
- 24:32If you're already a mom who is working and you feel stuck for whatever reason, or you are stuck because you want to return to work, you're feeling an itch to return to work.
- 24:42Mm-hmm.
- 24:43And you don't know where to go.
- 24:44You don't know what to do next.
- 24:46I thought that episode just had, first of all, it was so validating on so many levels.
- 24:51I also feel we love when things are like up a checkbox, right?
- 24:55Like you're like, okay, what's the next actionable step that can be taken?
- 24:59And she is an actionable step.
- 25:01I thought that it was just such a strong episode.
- 25:04It had so many moments where you would have an aha moment and then if you need a next step, you can go to her.
- 25:11And I love when people like, are actually like, can provide that to our Pippa and the community.
- 25:16She touched on like female friendship.
- 25:18She touched on she touched on everything.
- 25:20She touched on.
- 25:21It was like the perfect episode to have as our last episode of I agree.
- 25:25I agree.
- 25:25'cause she touched on everything that we talked about this year.
- 25:29She talked about values.
- 25:30It was like a closing the loop.
- 25:31She talked about communication.
- 25:32She talked about communication even with your husband, delegation like she talked about.
- 25:37Everything.
- 25:38And I think that when I was listening back to it, I totally agree with you and I was trying to think of like little sound bites or quotes that we heard and she said something again that I wanna close out this segment with because I feel like it was so powerful.
- 25:51She said that she focuses on working with women and she feels like when you heal a woman, right?
- 25:58And when you work and you invest in a woman.
- 26:01It's not just her.
- 26:03Oh yeah.
- 26:03It trickles down to everybody else in her life.
- 26:07So her spouse, her children, her community, her coworkers.
- 26:11Like when you have a strong woman, the world heals.
- 26:14And I just was like.
- 26:16This is exactly the message that we've been talking about, and I thought that she just closed.
- 26:20She said it perfect that she said it so eloquently, and I totally agree with her.
- 26:24And that's our message that we've been preaching this whole year, is that we're trying to take back this like main character energy and it's not just for selfish reasons.
- 26:33It's not just let's make you the primary focus to be selfish.
- 26:38It's.
- 26:39It trickles into every aspect of your life and it ends up making everyone around you happy.
- 26:45And it's spills over.
- 26:46Spills the, it spills over.
- 26:47And that is the antithesis of being selfish.
- 26:49A hundred percent.
- 26:50'cause it's not just you a hundred percent.
- 26:53It's everybody around you.
- 26:54Yep.
- 26:54So shout that from the rooftop.
- 26:56Yes.
- 26:56If you are concerned about.
- 26:59Pouring back into yourself.
- 27:00The investing profound yourself impact that it has not only on yourself, but the people around you I totally agree.
- 27:07It's the energy of a woman Yeah.
- 27:09Matters so much, yeah.
- 27:10Whether it's your family, your extended family, Where you work, your friend circle, like that woman energy matters so much.
- 27:19And I just loved that.
- 27:21I had chills listening back to it.
- 27:22I thought it was just so perfect.
- 27:24Loved that episode.
- 27:26Have there been any habits that you formed this year that you've noticed that work?
- 27:32And any that you were like, okay, this one's gotta go.
- 27:35Yeah, I think for me, i've shared a few in my pink spotlight, but I've been consistent with them and they really work is.
- 27:43Manifesting.
- 27:45I feel like I've been doing these like micro doses of manifesting, last year I did a vision board.
- 27:51I really poured a lot into my vision board.
- 27:53I made it very clear and I physically made it.
- 27:57On Canva, and I made it as my desktop background on my computer.
- 28:01And so every time I would open it, I would see it.
- 28:04And so I think that was like a kind of an overarching one throughout the year.
- 28:08And then I had shared a couple weeks back that I was doing these coffee with you check-ins, and I did, this was the third one that I did.
- 28:16And so the recap of that is just like you make a quick calendar invite for yourself for 30 days from now.
- 28:23Yep.
- 28:24And you write.
- 28:24Everything that you wanna happen, as if it happened already for that month.
- 28:30And I, and then you sit down when the 30 days is up and it comes up as a calendar invite and you have like coffee with yourself and you read it back.
- 28:38And I loved that month snapshot.
- 28:40I feel like that is something that I'm gonna do.
- 28:43Month to month.
- 28:44I love that.
- 28:45I love that practice.
- 28:46I feel like a lot of the things that I talked about came true, and if they didn't, I was like, okay, great.
- 28:51Then we'll just add it to next month.
- 28:53Like it was a very like positive thing.
- 28:55I loved that so much.
- 28:56Another one for me I would say like my beverage choices changed over the last probably six months.
- 29:03So I switched from coffee to matcha.
- 29:06That really grounded me.
- 29:08I feel like the jolt of coffee energy I was getting in the mornings was not what I needed for anxiety at all.
- 29:15So I have been much better with the kind of slow on.
- 29:19That energy that comes with matcha, it has been life changing.
- 29:22Mm-hmm.
- 29:23And it was something I never thought I could do.
- 29:24I was such like a coffee fiend.
- 29:26And I also really took a step back from drinking alcohol this year.
- 29:32And it wasn't an intentional decision, but it's something that I love about myself now, and I feel like I'm gonna carry it into 2026.
- 29:40I wouldn't say I'm never gonna drink again, but I just made that kind of call to just really.
- 29:47Drink when I really felt like it instead of feeling pressure to drink.
- 29:51And it's made a huge difference.
- 29:53I love that.
- 29:54Because I've seen all these, I've seen you do these things year past year.
- 29:56You've seen me talk about that and I've seen you talk about that.
- 29:58So I love that we can like almost like you tried it all out month by month.
- 30:02I saw you gulp down an iced coffee last January and then I saw you have shape.
- 30:08I'm saying like seen you've do all these things.
- 30:10So I love that you found out what.
- 30:13So I am extremely disorganized.
- 30:16I just lost my iPad right before we were about to, but that's, we're about to film.
- 30:20But one thing that I'm doing to help with the schedule is I write out a schedule.
- 30:25I have a notepad by the door.
- 30:26And I've been writing out the schedule, and then I input things into the phone.
- 30:30Okay.
- 30:31Because if I'm just on the phone.
- 30:33I'm too disorganized, so I have a paper, so you need to write the physical writing.
- 30:37I write it down and then if I can't take the notepad with me for the day, then I input it into the phone.
- 30:41And I've been doing that pretty much this whole year.
- 30:43Mm-hmm.
- 30:43And it works beautifully.
- 30:45Yeah.
- 30:45And like for instance, last night I said to my son, I said, make the schedule for tomorrow, make it hour by hour, and then we'll get the day done.
- 30:53When the kids are home on break, they're like, oh, I didn't get to do this.
- 30:56I didn't get to.
- 30:57I'm like, write it down.
- 30:57Make a schedule.
- 30:58We will follow the schedule by, yep.
- 31:00The hours.
- 31:01That's one thing that I'm.
- 31:02Taking with me into next year that I, that was new for me this year.
- 31:06If we can find a way to help me find my iPad in devices, you know what, that's just the end of it on a piece of paper, but we're gonna work on that.
- 31:12There's always next year.
- 31:14You also, I feel like you really took to the notes this year, like the notes app on the phone.
- 31:19The notes.
- 31:19The notes app are amazing.
- 31:21I love notes.
- 31:21You do these like brain dumps, yeah.
- 31:23And then I feel like now you like input all of this information that you have scattered around your mind.
- 31:28Put them, yeah, the notes page is great.
- 31:29And then you can even go into chat GPT and then have it like organize it for you and then you can put it back in, take things out, try again.
- 31:36I use the notes app a lot when I'm trying to like, organize care with my husband and a sitter and a friend or my mom.
- 31:43Like I just put it in the notes page instead of going back and forth.
- 31:46Between text messages.
- 31:47Yep.
- 31:47Like I just put it in a shared notes page.
- 31:49Except this is really funny.
- 31:50When I was in Italy, my friend Vanessa, she accidentally, she had access to the notes page and'cause she was on it for some of one reason and she accidentally deleted the whole thing and uploaded her license photo to it.
- 32:03So my dad was trying to figure out what time to pick up one of the kids from wherever and he was like.
- 32:08All I see is a picture of Vanessa.
- 32:10I don't get it.
- 32:11I'm like, oh my God.
- 32:12So if you have a shared notes page and you don't want people to edit it.
- 32:15Yeah.
- 32:15Don't make them an editor.
- 32:16I know that is, I know that is rough.
- 32:18Oops.
- 32:18That is.
- 32:18That's my fault.
- 32:19Know.
- 32:19There's a view only, but yes, there's so just, use, yeah, use that.
- 32:23I know.
- 32:24But to your point too, I.
- 32:26Seen you self-admittedly say that you're such like a type B mom and you're a mess and you're chaos and all these things, and I've seen you really show up this year as somebody who like strived for more organization and you put these more.
- 32:41Systems into place.
- 32:42Yeah.
- 32:43And I think some of like our guests and some of this kind of just even like having to have a protocol here with us, of like, how are we gonna do these things?
- 32:51Yeah.
- 32:51A workflow and we have to a workflow.
- 32:52Exactly.
- 32:53And so yeah, you have to have an established workflow.
- 32:54Yes.
- 32:55So I love that.
- 32:56I love, I'm starting to implement a workflow into Yes.
- 32:58My life.
- 32:59Because it's helpful.
- 33:00Yeah.
- 33:00And I wouldn't consider you like that type B, like in the good.
- 33:03Yes, in the good ways, but in the ways, not in the negative ways or the ways that you would perceive like disorganized chaos.
- 33:09Like I don't see that anymore.
- 33:10I can, I realize through this podcast that you can be driven and goal oriented and still be going the flow and not be a perfectionist, and type A right.
- 33:19Those things actually aren't the same.
- 33:21Yeah.
- 33:21They're not even they shouldn't even be used in the same like sentence.
- 33:24Yes., And then something that I've been doing for years that I'm gonna continue to do is wake up and move my body.
- 33:31I do it every day.
- 33:32It makes me feel so good when I miss, I can feel it.
- 33:35Yeah.
- 33:36And movement does not need to.
- 33:39Be a hit workout movement for me, on most days, you can, you'll see on my Instagram is like a walk in our neighborhood.
- 33:45Yep.
- 33:46Or a bar class with lightweights.
- 33:48Or this morning I went down and I walked on the treadmill mm-hmm.
- 33:50at an incline like, move your body.
- 33:53Yeah.
- 33:54I'm gonna, I'm, that's gonna be a big goal of mine this year is just the consistency of it, because I love it and I feel the same way, but I have said this and so I could say that at the beginning of the year, I remember saying this, but it's the thing that I drop off the list first.
- 34:08And I notice it that it has the biggest impact for dropping it off.
- 34:14And there's other things that I could drop off that probably wouldn't have as big of an impact, and so I wanna switch my thought process around that this year.
- 34:21That's, that is one of my goals.
- 34:23Yeah.
- 34:24For this year.
- 34:25Did you have, like any experience that in 2025 that was special for you?
- 34:31I think.
- 34:32Being able to have these moments with the kids.
- 34:35My kids are toddlers, so it's a lot of chaos, and it's a lot of meltdowns and all of the crazy chaos things that come with them being so little.
- 34:44But we've started to have these like really little.
- 34:49I don't like moments, right?
- 34:50Mm-hmm.
- 34:50Where I can start seeing us husband, like a fam like kids.
- 34:54I know you guys like look at each other with this adoration.
- 34:56It's so cute.
- 34:57You can just tell like you're tight it's so sweet.
- 34:59A lot of that has been work this year, and coming back to focusing on the four of us and we're just starting to see these little moments.
- 35:07Like we've done things with the kids.
- 35:08We traveled a little bit with the kids this year, and we would see, although things are hard, still with them.
- 35:13Yeah.
- 35:13You're making core memories as you four.
- 35:15Yeah.
- 35:15We're starting to, it's starting to feel like we're making, I think that's exactly the right way to say it.
- 35:19We're starting to make these core memories as a family of four.
- 35:22Yeah.
- 35:23And I'm see, starting to see it, where Yeah.
- 35:25And then it makes making new ones even easier.
- 35:27Yes.
- 35:27And more exciting.
- 35:28Yes.
- 35:28So I think just overall, just having those little moments throughout the year with them and seeing them grow up, it's been really, yeah.
- 35:37It's really fast.
- 35:38Actually, this is coming out on the second.
- 35:40It is Lela's second birthday.
- 35:42It's her golden birthday.
- 35:43Two on the second.
- 35:44She's Oh, my twins are a golden birthday this year too.
- 35:47Oh, seven on the seventh.
- 35:49It's insane.
- 35:50Oh my goodness.
- 35:51Oh my.
- 35:51Love that they both have that this year.
- 35:52That's so cute.
- 35:53So special.
- 35:54It's crazy just how fast you know time has gone.
- 35:58My experience of the year was my trip to Italy with my mom.
- 36:00Oh, I know.
- 36:01What a special, and for many reasons, one being I was very anxious.
- 36:06And I never thought I could leave the house for that long and travel and I was anxious that I was gonna be anxious on the trip.
- 36:12Yeah.
- 36:13And you weren't with Nick and I wasn't, to also like, and I wasn't with Nick.
- 36:15Yep.
- 36:16And I was for the first time in that I could remember I was present for the week.
- 36:22I love that.
- 36:22I like immersed myself in the culture.
- 36:24I listened to the guide.
- 36:27I ate the food.
- 36:28I moved my body like I did.
- 36:30Everything.
- 36:31And it was such an impactful trip.
- 36:34I also spent time with my mom, who, she was always my mom.
- 36:38Yeah.
- 36:38She was not my friend, she was my mom.
- 36:40She was like the authority, the rule maker.
- 36:42And then quickly we had a very short period of time where we were both adult girlfriends and then I became a mom.
- 36:47Yep.
- 36:48And then you got, yeah, you got crazy busy.
- 36:50And then to come home and see my husband organize the Tupperware and be able to do all the drop offs and all the pickups and all the laundry and told me like, we cannot do this without you.
- 37:01Thank God you're home.
- 37:03It was such a cool, it was just like such a cool experience.
- 37:08All around.
- 37:09So that was my, I love that.
- 37:11I know big.
- 37:12I know.
- 37:12That was I had said, I was like, I feel like this is going to be like a life changing trip.
- 37:15And it really was, was, it really was on so many levels.
- 37:18On many levels.
- 37:18And it was awesome.
- 37:20Oh, I'm so happy that you did that and I got to share it like on the podcast too.
- 37:23Yeah, you did.
- 37:24Which was fun.
- 37:24I know.
- 37:25That's amazing.
- 37:26I love that so much.
- 37:27Yeah.
- 37:27So we are wrapping up our first episode of 2026.
- 37:32Yeah.
- 37:33We're so grateful for all of you, Pippa's, for spending the year with us, or if you're new to us and our community, welcome.
- 37:40We have new listeners all the time.
- 37:42We're just so grateful for anybody who is here who takes the time.
- 37:46I think that still hits me, that people take the time, like they put something in their ear to listen to us and they press play.
- 37:54Plan to spend, like their, in, their intention is to spend time with us.
- 37:58And I, it just never goes unrecognized that's what people are doing for us, and they're here with us, listening with us.
- 38:03They're doing it with us.
- 38:04We have an community event that's gonna be coming up in the new year, which we're really excited to take this on the road with other women in the community.
- 38:12So we're looking forward to that.
